"And will take you all the way through midnight or whatever. The first round does end and then we'll be live on the air on Friday, right after the draft next Friday. And we'll have the full recap of round one and give you live up to date reactions on rounds two and three. A swell Here's our poll question. Today, you could find it on Twitter at Zach Gilb at CBS Sports Radio's EA CH G L B. Is the coal Yokich going to When the M V p Trace you need to give me early returns on this yet? Take a guess. Yes or no? How money you're going to say yes. On the very premature returns here. 65% black closer than that, while really 51.1% say yes. Now we've explained this in the first hour foot, but for our newer affiliates that are joining us now here in our number two that don't carry the first hour of the radio program. Trace believes it's going to be Nicole Yokich and I believe It's going to be Nicole Yokich TRAVEL when the N V P Now he somehow gets hurt this week or next week. E don't know where we go. I still think you go to call Jochen because what right now Look how many games left When we look at the Nuggets? I think there are 57 games right now. Yeah, they're currently a 57 games. So the ends up missing the It makes it a lot more of a compelling conversation because Jolan beat he's not gonna win the award because he's missed 18 games. Steph Curry's not gonna win the award. Because the fact that his team is the ninth seed right now, there are 500 basketball team. Damian Lillard's not gonna win the award. Because they're the six seed right now, Johannes. Now he's only miss nine games. I don't think he'll win the award. LeBron is Miss 17. I don't think he's gonna win the award now. Chris Paul Only missed one game this year, and James Harden is now out indefinitely. Right now. Nicole Yokich is going to win not only because the stats are there, but he's physically there, night in and night out, and I only think is stopped could improve in the final month of the season as long as he stays healthy, right? I don't think the Nuggets are gonna be a bad basketball team. Without Jamal Murray. There won't be a championship team. There's still going to be a good team. And last night we really saw three people in the M V P conversation and you could determine How legitimate their candidacy is or not, And three of those players had big nights when CP three in overtime win against the Bucks, said 22 7 and 13 Yokich in a double overtime victory against Memphis at 47, 15 and ate And how about just how sick Steph Curry is? Steph Curry with 49. And that is now 11 straight games of 30 points or more. And he had 49 a victory over Philadelphia. Just ridiculous. When you look at Steph trees Do you see the most? Not the most valuable player in the league, but you see the most entertaining plan League. Like I've said this throughout the season. If I could pay money to watch one player. Just one player for this season. It would personally be Damian Lillard. Now that does not mean Damian Lillard is the best player in the league. That does not mean Damian Lillard is the most valuable player in the league. The reason I enjoy watching Damian Lillard. So much is because whenever a game and how many times we talk about basketball team could be up by 22 comes down to the final five minutes, but whenever game is close in the final five minutes There's just that buzz. Wow. The game's tied the gains within five. You know, Dame dollar time is going to start dominating in the final five minutes. Steph Curry to you, the most entertaining player in the NBA right now. If I had to ask you that yesterday. No Right now. It's hard to say no, I'm like I'm with you. Like most exciting. I love Damian Lillard. With what stuff is due, like, preserve the moment what he's doing this last month is just 10, plus three made in the last four of the last five. Most reporters 46 a five game span. And this is the craziest that too May most games with 10, plus three pointers in the history. The MBA Steph Curry is 21 Clay Thompson, then second of five James Harden. Daniela Jared Smith. There were three Even with me just saying what I just said about David alone. That's what my answer all throughout the year. Even said it yesterday. But then you see what game did last night and you start to see more of the stats in historical context. Look at really the movement behind Steph Curry. You go into a JCC, You go into a rec center. What's every kid doing? No offense as much as I love Damian Lillard. Kids aren't taken Step back jumpers and screaming Dame dollar time. They're not Maybe they are but I don't think you really hear that. Now when people are shooting You go. Steph Curry, Chef Curry. Cooking up with Chef Curry. Like when we were growing up. I would imagine this was the same case for you as it was with neighbor who knows. When you were in your your classroom and your crumpled up a piece of paper on you saw a trash. Can you throw it up in the air? And what did you say? Kobe. Bingo run. We're on the same page there. Steph Curry. So let me ask you this. Five players, this a fun conversation. Let's go. I'll start Then you go. Five players. We're just gonna go until we get to five. Most entertaining players in the MBA. And this I'm going to define it. You were paying. Let's say $1000 courtside seats you get to control. Five players that you get to see on the court. Does have to be by position like I don't need a point guard and a shooting guard and a small forward and a power forward and also a center. Five players. I'll start off I'll go Damian Lillard. How do you go there next? Steph Curry. All right, LeBron James. That's three. Think about how many players we're gonna leave off by doing this and how many people are going to annoy? It is not easy. Um I'll go, Luca dotage! Wow! Yeah..

"We opened up the program today on this Tuesday, talking about who you think should win the M V p Ryan Trey, Sticky. I'll ask you the question. I think it's going to be Nicole Yokich. It's crazy. How much is this change throughout the year? Ah, few weeks back. I actually thought Yana send them going to be winning it three times in a row. Now I don't Steph Curry has had some arguments. Damian Lillard has had some arguments. Joel Embiid has had an argument. James Harden, I think Actually, we were like the first radio show in the country. I really do think this where we started to argue that James Harden could be in the M V P conversation. And either the team's success hasn't been good enough or all those players that we just mentioned ended up getting hurt. Nicole Yokich is having a ridiculous season 26.4 points per game. 11.1 rebounds per game, 8.8 assists per game. And you could maybe argue statistically, other players are more deserving of the M V P like there is an argument to be had. However, when I look at games missed this year, he's at zero. He's played in every game this season. I think that's what's going to be the tiebreaker this year, even though it would break from the mold. In the last 10 years, Only one player has won the M V P and has not had a team record in their conference. Be top, too..

"You're not into see the joker. You're not tuning into watch. Impede james harden. I find hardened fascinating now. I used to put russell westbrook in there because i just found that his boundless amounts of energy in both ends of the floor. And what he was doing now i wouldn't have given him a triple double or a. Mvp just off to triple double. But he was really really exciting. But how many players can you think of where you go. I'm tuning in to watch him play yemen in club. I didn't mention jaanus they do. I don't know. I don't know if people are tuning into seon us. What he does. He does know ninety tonight out but he's not exciting unless he takes the ball full court and dunks. But i don't think people go like he's not a good shooter. He's just the -bility to get to the who and he's really good defender. But that's not reason enough to see. I gotta watch that game and i think this is a real problem with the nba of the tune-in factor. Am i gonna watch the lakers with lebron. Yes because i know the stakes are really high damian lillard in the playoffs i will watch every single game. Yeah point even a guy like bradley beal of washington. He's ever been thirty one a game but he. It's almost like he has to overcome washington. Now washington wizards just have such a boring history offense that everyone thirty one a game. But you're not going to tune in for it. But i can't. You can't pick out a signature play of bradley beal if i said hey last time you saw him he did what he just. He's a score. He's gonna put up his thirty one and that'll be it lose. You know one. O eight to You know ninety seven. It's it mclovin. Yeah i want no part of washington in that first round there like that. They're actually super hot right now and bradley beal russell westbrook you look at the highlights of like. That's a good team. I know but you're not. I'm just saying bradley. Beal's not tune-in factor now. They probably won't win because of that washington they why is that. Why did the sixers treat for wider bradley beal not traded to a contender. I thought that was a thing. I don't know if he wanted to pull..

"What's going on. Everybody i take on a tuesday. Stephen a smith max kellerman on molly rose bellas. This man is unreal continuing to have jaw-dropping nineteenth setting records daily for his latest tweet current forty nine twenty them in the fourth quarter of one to seven. Ninety six win over the philadelphia. Seventy sixers on monday night becoming the first player in nba history eight thirty pm older to scored thirty or more points and eleven. Straight games passing lakers legend kobe bryant who sported least thirty and ten straight games. That was in december of twenty. Stephen is this. The best step has ever bed in his career. I think he looks at right now. and here's the reason why i would say this. Because it's what outs klay thompson on court that's wad see no matter what greatness you're from steph curry during his. Mvp is back to back in the pierre's when you looked at him and you saw klay thompson on a court within who was an elite marksmen. His own right and the crew that they had assembled obviously is greatest. Steph curry was you could see. You could model it it while at the same time recognizing the fact that you had to pay attention to somebody else who pretty elite shooter himself. And that it's klay thompson who i believed to be. One of the top. Five shoot is in the history of basketball. I think klay thompson has data lead of a marksman himself. But when you look at what's transpiring this year and you look from an offensive perspective of what clay What steph curry has around him. And what he's doing averaging thirty one six and five on forty three percent shooting from three point range and this is like before april. We had a little stretch. What he was struggling with some three point Of outputs or whatever this do is the elite marksmen in the history of basketball. The greatest shooter. We have ever seen the greatest shooter that god ever created. I'm telling you this is what he is and everybody knows it. And it's no longer deniable issue now. I don't have him as my league. Mvp policies to he's definitely needs to be included in the conversation. He's not a top two. Might not even be top. Three candidate the league. Mvp on us because the golden state warriors are an average team but when i look at his greatness it speaks for itself and when you look at it in terms of his performance this year the greatness that we're witnessing with klay thompson is what really stands out in my mind those other performances. Great as he wasn't a pass klay thompson was on the corner with klay thompson this year. You know he's the lone option offensively for the golden state warriors. And you still can't stop. Yeah let's get maximum. No as great as steph curry is right now and he is in the. Mvp conversation undeniably. You just put himself there. He forced himself there. Look before the season. I thought luke who is going to win. Mvp thought steph would be way up there because he has to carry more load because there is no klay thompson because of course he's gonna shoot it more. Who else is gonna shoot it on that team. So i'm not. I'm not impressed. Beyond i thought i would be. Except when your eyes are on steph. Curry go oh my god. How can something be better than this in. Two thousand fifteen sixteen. When they won seventy three games. Stephen it was even better. I mean it's virtually the same player right. But that's the thing. He was the same player back then. Meaningful game is evolved. A little short. He stole the ball more frequently than i looked up the stats. They're almost identically. Twice as many steals but he does some things now with more listen. He's more experienced now with the difference is he was doing that in a league. That wasn't ready. It's one of the reasons they won. Seventy three games before k. d. Seventy three games. And i know you watch my guy just dropped. Forty seventy drop it. He was dropping multiple fifty point games. Fifty one fifty fifty something. He had tons of forty point games that year. It's easy to forget when you're eyes aren't on him that year. What he was doing then but he was doing it in the league. Where no one else was. That has even more value. Now you have damian lillard. Oh look at that. I could shoot from way out there. Let me try this. You have trae young. You have other guys. We're steph has shown the way and now they're doing to making it still incredible but not the same kind of impact. It had back then. Of course they had klay then. Guatemala draymond green was shooting better stephen. All that stuff is true. And that contributed obviously mightily to those seventy three wins. But my god what steph was doing back then there was a reason he was. Mvp and we all said the he's mvp. look right now. The portland trailblazers. Record is an amazing. The nuggets record is an amazing. And we're looking at yokich and damian. Lillard and steph is in that category back. Then it was steph korea's. Mvp retire the prize. Well disagree i like i said you can point to the greatness of steph curry and a lot of people will point to what he did in two thousand sixteen particularly but my point is that when you have a marksman in the league marksman on court with you in that distracts defense that plays a role in what you're capable of doing. It's almost like if i go on court. If you go on court with lebron james you're going to be better because lebron james's elite and attracts such an such a clear amount of attention that it's going to make things it easier for the people around him steph. Curry had klay back in the past. He doesn't have played this year. And when you look at what. He's doing any way you just have to marvel it. And his conditioning his movement without the basketball is just something to behold the ball handling skills the jump shooting all of that stuff but max i looked up with steady. I wanna throw by a few of them. I have in front of me max. Threes that steph curry has hit against each team in the nba. this year. okay in two games against atlanta right. He's hit eighteen thirty three threes all right into games against chicago. It's eleven of nine threes in two games against cleveland. It's eleven to two thousand. Four hundred and two games against dallas and denver is fifteen of twenty nine threes gets detroit into games. It's eleven of seventeen threes. i'll get houston and two games. It's ten of twenty six threes against the clippers. That's eleven twenty eight. Threes against miami is ten to thirty one threes against minnesota. It's eleven of twenty three threes against new york. The next it's twelve twenty eight threes in two games against all landau. It sixteen thirty five threes against philli against last night. The only game you play to you tennis. Seventeen threes against damian lillard and portland is seventeen. A forty two degrees get thin tonio and three games. It's fourteen twenty nine threes against utah. It's eleven ninety eight threes and took it. I mean my. I mean you understand that if you shoot that attitude in from three point range that's considered decent. Look at the numbers that out throughout you get a slu opponents elite and otherwise. It does not matter. This brother is something that's up to the marksman us. I put stats up in front of me while you're doing that. You know what that adds up to. It adds up to twelve three. And he's forty three percent of them which is amazing. It's why he's in the mvp conversation now in two thousand fifteen sixteen when he won mvp and his team won seventy three games. He.

"Wanted to call about make love and on Lee, he could find a way to diminish what it Steph Curry's doing. The guy is just unbelievable over the last two weeks. You gave this stat about 21 10 Point games, and the next best is five and Lillard and hardened have three. So it's not the defense's And if Nick loves trying that just make every fan base man in it well, and I think we need to rename him make Hayden Oh, okay. Well, thank you, Skip Keeton. Make hate and you are a buzzkill, though. Make love in I know I've been on a real roll. I know what where you skewing negative. Your vans are a cynical group. Oh, that's a tough group. But I don't know how you can embrace what Steph Curry's. I love Steph Curry. But I am assistant guy and I have to. I have to stick to my system guns at all costs. What other person in a system is doing with Steph Curry Stone? Game, Littler. Grown dark here. Uh, Trey, you okay? Here you go. Steph Curry has more games with 40 points and tenant and 10th reporters. In the last eight days in the last eight days, then any other NBA player has in their entire career. Steph Curry has four in the last five games six this season 17 overall. Next on the list is James Harden. Damian Lillard. Clay Thompson static good days ahead.

Should LeBron James have more MVP awards? Yes, but it's complicated
"All right fellas. Let's keep moving here. Big baller brand versus the king. Wanna talk about this game last night so lamelo basically saying to us. I mentioned this yesterday. That it's just another game playing lebron and as for lebron. It was just another day in the office. Thirty seven eighty six became then talked about a potential fifth. Mvp award lebron running or here my name of some of the best basketball players in the league this year again. it would mean a lot At my age What i'm able to do what i've been doing this whole season You know what our brains at a table every single night on both sides of the floor. it would mean a unbelievable thing for me personally. Is my career so to see what a chips may. Kyle kuzma reiterating. That sediment saying you should want eight or nine guys. We haven't had this conversation in a while. The last time i asked you max i think you had. Joel embiid as your guy. So where are you now. Who do you think's the biggest threat to lebron for. Mvp i used to be very clear. Lebron's the mvp. This moment and beat has now missed too much time. And he's presently hurt. Lebron is the mvp of the league at this moment. The easy answer to who's the biggest threat is james harden. He's playing the best basketball of his career. And that's really saying something and kyrie's been great and have been other great james harden you watch him now. You're watching basketball. Genius like the combination of scoring from anywhere on the floor at historically elite levels combined with the kind of court vision and unselfishness and setting up his teammates that he has shown in brooklyn in the service of winning has been remarkable however pardon also miss time in the beginning of the season because he won on the team. He's on the rockets and he was forcing his way off the rockets. So let me make a suggestion here. I considered yokich best offensive player in the league this year. I think stephen the biggest threat to lebron james. Mvp is damian. Lillard damian lillard a man that you have sat up here right in that spot and apologized to on. I take on this show for ignoring we. We all know him in apology. Dropped thirty six last night. Is he has a colt. Euro kind of status in the nba. Everyone loves this guy used the most clutch player in the league. That is you nets like unanimous consensus that please if not most clutch player damian lillard. He's averaging thirty points a night with assist everything you want. He has taken team decimated by injury destroyed by injury no mccollum until recently and their fourth in the western conference the fourth best record tied for fourth best in the western conference. He's the sentimental favourite. He's playing mvp level. He's shown leadership we all know he has not been recognized. Enough hardens miss time with his team and beads now hurt that you look at each candidate on other teams and lillard is at least as good as any of them. I think he's the biggest lebron's the mvp lillard is biggest threat.
Lillard scores 50, Blazers rally past Pelicans 125-124
"Guys see this damian. Lillard scored fifty the trailblazers rally past the pelicans. One twenty five one twenty four so dame hits the game winning free throw time. That gave him fifty. Zion then missed a shot at the end. The blazers rallied to beat the pelicans of the fifty points dame scored twenty of them in the fourth quarter wealth career fifty point game time lebron james the fourth most since the nba aba merger. Pelicans have eleven losses. Now in leading by double digits six loss when leading by at least fifteen points but tame lillard is a show. You just have to make sure you're up late enough to see you will never get the recognition that he deserves until he leaves porton.

"An incredible run just to reach the playoffs. Lillard five to shoot a minute and a half to play. That's a bomb read. Dick euless lillard. It is dame time a bounce from above tied at one thirty and then he lost the lakers in the first round if they get back to full health and hit their stride. How much of a factor could this portland team. Be in the postseason. Well and his cancer the other day says he thinks they can be a championship team. I don't know that. I would totally subscribe to that yet. Just because we have not seen them play championship caliber. Defense twenty eight twenty nine hundred defensive team in the nba. You're not gonna win championships. That way but like i said merkich coming back. Cj coming back. I'm going to be really curious. I into what type of defense they play because their offense is going to be one of the best in the nba. And the thing. Is everyone in portland. Knows it could never count the blazers out because they have dame. He has done remarkable things year after year after year. He always has a special moment just waiting around the corner. "It's been interesting. I think he's done a pretty good job compartmentalizing his personal life in his professional life and he says that's one way he has been able to get through. It is to show up to the game and go okay. This is the most important thing right now but he also looks back at his family. I know that monster says make them happy by every game that we play my own family at home watching arguing. They don't miss a game. And i noticed that does something positive for them. That's a major part of you. Know our happiness as a family you know and that's kind of continue forward it together. He says you know since the pandemic happened. Which is really kind of coincided with a lot of these tragedies that their family has gotten together more frequently on zoom calls checking in with each other. You know praying over each other and not telling each other. We love each other and nothing stuff like that. It wasn't being able to what's been helping just kinda like be okay. I mean this is a very close family. As i said before and a lot of them have moved up from oakland to portland. But i think it's a way where they could see each other and lean on each other and also. It's a way i think for them to pour into damian his trainer who used to be assistant coach in the end. He's really turned into a life coach for him. Guy by the name phil beck. Ner has noticed that damian poor so much of himself into those around him but he was worried that he's porn so much into others that pretty soon he's not gonna have anything inside of him and i think this is a way with the family. Getting together that damian can get some nourishment from those around. Him can get the love back into him. He also talked to you about his kids on the rule that they've played in all of this. Can you tell us about that. I've known since he came into the league nine years ago and you could really see a change. Since he's had his three kids. You know there's damian junior who's about two and a half now and then recently he had twins and they are such a release for him no matter what happens at the arena. He talks about going home once. He opens that door. It all disappears told the story of coming home in his son damian junior to dad dad dad every thirty seconds dead watch. Tv the dinosaur. You know he just bites over and over and it just like you brought me. Happiness is calling me that over and over and over but he don't know what's going on with me but he is and it's kind of you know paints a picture of the kids don't know what's going on in your life the hurt. You're feeling that stress. You're under all the worry that you have. They just want you then you know. Hold them win fee number just knowing like they belong to me. You know what. I'm saying like one day gomez they're gonna fill it strongly about me as jillian go like helping them. You come home today. And i think that helps him understand and put it in perspective that i'm a dad. Yeah i've got my own stuff going on. But i need to be present for my children here and so i think that's been really nice for him again to give him perspective and also allow him to get away. So jason the blazers start the second half of the season with a twenty one and fourteen record and they've achieved that despite major injuries to their starting center use of norwich and shooting guard c. j. mccollum how essential has damian lillard been to keep the team afloat. He's been enormous. The reason the blazers are fifth in the western. Conference is because damian is once again having a huge season. I mean he's in the mvp conversation and for good reason and it's been vintage lillard not just a lot of points and a lot of assists and leadership in the locker room but he's hitting those clutch shots one after the other five seconds covington trying to get it today and he puts on the floor. Step back three for david lord game winner chicago back to back threes till break the heart of the balls in this year. It's not only clutch shots. It's defensive place. He sealed two different victories this year. By drawing a charge in the final seconds so he said game winning shots at the buzzer. He's made defensive plays He scored forty four points the other night. He's literally doing it all for the blazers and that's why they've been able to weather. These two injuries still no half court shots in a game yet though. Not yet but he said that he is more willing to do it now. That he's tried it out in the all star game i haven't done it in actual game. I went to test it out. You know as live action and it fell decent offer fine like a normal jumper pretty easy but he says it has to be the right time because he doesn't want to disrespect the game doesn't want to disrespect his teammates but he says if he gets on a roll and they're up a little bit that he'll do it. Mccollum is out with a broken foot. Norwich is out with a broken wrist. What is the latest on these two and is there. Hope that they'll be back and able to make an impact on the team soon. Yeah everything's looking up the blazers last week cleared. Cj mccollum to start practicing with the team nerkez. Well he's going to start doing more and practices. I think it could be any day that they return to the lineup. In that's going to be really welcomed for this team. Because nacogdoches their best defender and defenses. The number one issue for the blazers right now and then. Cj of course was having his career. So it's gonna take pressure off of dame teams aren't going to be able to load all their defenses into stop dame because cj will hurt him last year in the bubble lillard and the blazers went on.

He also got a first look at the re imagines, Lola Bunny, filmmaker Malcolm Lee told Entertainment Weekly about the re fresh quote. It's important to reflect the authenticity of strong capable female characters also said that this film is a better movie than space jam. All right, let's go. Better than the original space jam. That is a lofty goal. I believe it when I see it. LeBron James, though, is not even on the best team in the NBA right now. As of right now, that title goes to the Utah Jazz. The Jazz are 27 9 on the season. The next best teams in the league have 24 wins, so it was probably odd for them, at least when the two jazz players who are reserved for the NBA All Star game, Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert were picked dead last in the All Star draft by team captains LeBron James and Kevin Durant. James said it was because he never played as the Utah jazz and video games when he was younger. No shade. Though the Jazz is most recent game was a lost, however, to the Philadelphia 70. Sixers and things got heated on the court. Mitchell was injected with 30.5 seconds left in overtime. He smashed a cooler as he left the court. Both he and go bear had words for what they thought was bad officiating in that loss. They were then each fined for being critical of the rest. Mitchell $25,000 and go bare $20,000. All the drama. Remember when artist said today? Oh god. McKay was in Space Jam. She's also in this Ah, conversation with Rudy Gobert, as he reflects on the season and his legacy. Coby White Scores 21 As Chicago Bulls Rally To Beat Trail Blazers
"Kobe white scores. Twenty one and the bull's rally to beat the blazers won eleven one away. They were down twenty but they came back What's the big takeaway well skates. I only got one thing for you. The polls are hitting me win of the year the first twenty point comeback in the nba. This season i saw some highlights from the clippers versus the spurs. They're talking could they be the first team to pull off a twenty point comeback. No they can't but the bulls did as a crazy game. What a night. In the kirby household bowls blazoned on the deck owl's blazers on deck election results trickling in on the computer a luxurious matchup out there red and black both teams january five going down in history. But this was a weird one. I said the bulls gave up a twenty point. Lead thirty nine point eight three pointers in the first quarter. Blazers look like they on fire. It looked like it was going to be sad. Trey kerby coming in on the show today. But i had the faith skeets i said. Just stick around the comeback bulls. We'll take care of this. And somehow they did a billy donovan has gotten something. Out of zach levine. Feels a little bit different. He was out there over passing the ball in the first half of the game but kept getting teammates involved. This ended up being a really nice team win. The bulls had so many guys in double figures. They ended up with seven players in double figures. Everybody was doing something everybody was bored in. This was a fun game to watch like. I said the balls have this huge comeback being a dagger three under a minute left. I'm upstairs everybody else in the house asleep. I'm just jealous like this back in my arms against each other legendary stuff damian. Lillard basically didn't make a shot in the second half did make the one that was most important knockdown down that three from the right wing. The purest swish. "damian lillard" Discussed on The Lead
"Well. So Marcus Tuesday night, Damian. Lillard and the Blazers continued their amazing run in the first game of the playoffs against the Lakers. Long threes. Tabin and Lillard. Just massive rains. That's right. Dame time says circuits just how dominant has named been in the bubble so far this is kind of insane good. He's been. It's unbelievable. He scored one hundred, fifty four points in three games, which is nuts in any paradigm. But when you think about how the blazers needed, it absolutely needed it to get the the playoffs and the mental just ridiculousness of that situation. How does someone drive? Richard's really up at the Grill Damian Lillard here eight. sexiest. Dame able to force the foul the buckets at Damian Lillard flovent chance to. This game at the free throw line I think we underappreciated day for a long time. You know rigs coacher makes us kind of tally that stuff instead of just appreciate who's a beast. But I have a feeling in like twenty years there's going to be older than barbershop talking about David Lilla was the truth, right? That's how this is gonNA. Go because these things he's doing right now are straight up legendary. What's your reaction? Tuesday night it's a guy from land when you see dame celebrating one of those huge threes dancing to too short they played. They played east anthem. So it was only right that I acknowledged the East Oakland anthem and go down for a second and I was at. Yoyo Kavita. Let me tell you how much I lost it. That do her blow to whistle and started dancing after he hit a thirty six foot three like this insanity right here. This is the most East Oakland big I've ever seen like how much confidence do you need and what you're doing where you are to stop and start dancing right there like people spend their whole lives and millions of dollars on therapy to get that level of peace where you could just start dancing because. You her blow the whistle in the middle of your job. The biggest stage of all right millions of people watch like that's Oakland last week Lillard had a run in with Patrick Beverley and Paul George after they mocked him for missing too big free throws with a chance to give him the lead but misses the first and now needs to hit this one just to tie and he missed them both and Patrick. Beverley is absolutely loved playing the whole dame time thing and everything else. So there's a lot of history of this right Patrick Beverley Sakir for Chicago who knows exactly how to talk trash plays with Paul George for the Clippers to game was closed Daniela misses two free throws and they did a little bit more. The Jess Bach in for the free throws they look like they were at one of the original DEF, comedy jam skits like that's how they were fall into the aisles and day responds by saying Hey I put both of the news out of the playoff asking me wrong Patrick Beverley. Who I sent him home before at the end of game for Georgia's got sent home me last year in the playoffs. So they know that the reason they react like that because of what they expect from me, which is a sign of respect and it just shows what I've done, and he kind of used that as a moment to Kinda remind everybody like where he is, but it also burned him a little bit. So the next game out dame score is fifty one against the sixers then sixty one against the mavs. Lillard his career highest sixty on. He's got fifty five. Lillard for threes. Damian Lillard can be stopped. Reading at the end of the game alert is clearly saying, put some respect on my bleeping main. What does it say about Damian that he responded that way we always hear the legends of the great words where it's like you just man let them do play don't cry them. I'm not saying he's Michael Jordan but you didn't prod Michael Jordan you didn't mess with Larry Bergman you just gotTa let them do play they will give you thirty and dame is one of those dudes where you just got. You don't want to make him go there because it's not gonNA. Be a twenty four, foot three pointer. It's GONNA be thirty six. Miller. San Paolo big bomb outside by Damian Lillard back to back the other one you have a feeling he's getting ready to go on one of those. You Know Eleven Oh, runs by himself. He's GonNa look at the camera, and then your children will be asking your wide you mess with that man. While markets, you recently talked today about his background how he became the guy and the player that we know today and you wrote that who he is makes sense if you know the soil from which he sprouted Marcus as a kid from yourself, tell us about that soil and what basketball means and Oakland you can't Mitch in Oakland without talking about Bill Russell and just the vibrance of West Oakland. Black metropolis there's a richness to the culture of Oakland. You can't really talk about the town without talking about the Black Panther Movement without talking about being in the shadows of San Francisco. The soil of Oakland, has to do with the struggle of black blackness trying to bake it the resilience of going against the system that set up for you. So there's this defiance about you and for some reason, which probably has to do with things like the civil rights movement at the raiders the as at how somehow we were able to. Produce, these teams in his culture this level of success that of defied US Oakland people just have an incredible amount of confidence. It's WAG often unjustified right? Like often brought upon by a grand delusion. Right but it's some cases like it's actually there. It's actually valid. So he's cut from this place where you just don't give up and for some reason, you just feel like you're better than everybody else and people like dame who have the talent and a work ethic to combined with that spirit. That's already there it produces a certain magic. Given lawler trump's. Offer valid showed us. While Dame tells you a story about a game twenty-one against his older brother Houston. What he tell you about the game he was about nine years old his. Four years older, they will always go to the local recreation center they play Hoop One Awa- gave a twenty one. So he's lose it all the time he figured out his plan of how he was. GonNa win all he needed to do was bake would basket because he was so small the only way he could even play with the big news was he had to learn how to shoot so he may what basket and then they were playing all day not three aback. He finally be big brother. His brother was pissed these. Let's play the it read it back. In the day was like Nah he out of Jim went celebrate Damian also told you about his short-lived? peewee football walk us through what happened there. So Day who is the youngest? There's like ten of them and he's like number nine as far as AIDS right? He was definitely the smallest his cousins and family members play for the San. Leandro Crusaders it's part of like the family tradition, but he was already hooked on who at that point. So when he quit, they saw it as an occasion to derive the runt of the litter. Didn't. They all. Share. All fence. So Daimler.

"Me. Is that the Way Chris I got to do this. This is why would have been a great lawyer? Why is this right here? Great lawyers you lost every case on this show. I. Put. Real hit the bike hit the backboard with. How K? Say, is it not a billion to one jot? There's there's three billion away. So. So my since you. Don't know. It goes new Pascale I had to Me and my feet like you say, I got researchers to the. All. He would. I asked you in the Damian aim at the back iron was that his his goal was to hit the back iron and bounce it to backboards high and down through the WHO is that what Katie did became the an eight backyard win. That was Katie shot that. Yeah. Was that Gitai the game that you had to win to get into the playoffs? Seriously? No. Seriously that's tie the game any tied it then he comes down with a money shot a dame dollar money shot. That's going to at least clinch overtime and he missed it I'm sorry did and then he goes down and loses his man who makes what's going to be the game winning shot potentially, and he gets let off the hook by a completely unnecessary offensive foul by Trey Burke who Viewers over to him and knocks him day man's for it. Yeah. And Chris had the audacity. You say he took the charge didn't take the charge. He's like lost. What are you talking about this? That was shaky clothes for me create. He's reminding everybody has specially of because because the bubble. Portland play a lot of their games late, they play in teams that if you're not really interested in that team, you're not gonNA play a pay attention to Portland. Play in Brooklyn or Portland plan some of these other teams but because it's the bubble and we've been without basketball for so long you getting an opportunity to see just how special this young millennials he goes fifty, one, sixty, one, and those to miss free throws he's thirty, three or thirty four from the free throw line. That's ninety seven percent is that good skip he dame dollar is a superstar. He's so wack, why did the clippers shame him and ridicule him and clown on him? What time is it goodbye? They wouldn't do that to Kevin durant projects. Do not they would not think here's the thing too. Though Dame has never had as good as C. J. is dame has never had that other superstar with right Has had always had Katie or Paul George. You Know Paul George didn't do much to he got with Russ within the much there either now we've got. His big brother. So I just think they were able to dame has one that much because he has a had second guy where everybody else who's wanted a high level even hard and who didn't get to the finals yet or since he's been the leader in Houston, he's always had that Second Guy Chris Fall or even Dwight Howard, before that and. Wanted to high level. So I think that's why they win adding. Because, he hasn't really one at. Here's the thing though, but homer who pepper had anything either neither has Paul George so I don't know how they're going to him. Now kuwa- WanNa make going to do the dollars okay I get that but what the Hell is Paul George. One. When the last time Paul George, but not of the first round what the Hell is Pat Beverley one but my thing is here's what creates skip a here's was stupid trying to do he's trying to say he wants to devalue dame again well, obtained doesn't beat the number one see I told you he's not a superstar will we bear seldom do we? Well. Wait a second Shaquille O'Neal's on record. Portland will beat the Lakers Greg Anthony on record. PORTLAND, we'll beat the Lakers. There's a rising tide of support for superstar Damian Lillard, and now you're saying give him a break there's no expectation. No. Day In his one superstar going against to. It's GonNa Give Lebron James and Anthony Davis. What about that guy named East Mel everybody's still loves Carmelo not superstar always. To me now anymore not anymore. The reason we liked the way Carmelo's playing is because we don't expect as much anymore. Like the White House everybody's talking the whites been so great. But the Lakers seven points a game really we don't expect anything anymore from the white. So if he just gets along with his teammates and plays okay, that's good. That's it with mellow in doesn't cause any problems in the locker room doesn't shoot too much. We don't. That's good. Better in the bubble Portland or Lakers. Let this missed the entire. I sixty five games. Or Eighty. Ago It was five months ago. This is a new deal and a sprint to the finish, and it looks like Portland should be the one seed and the Lakers should be the. That's how they've played. Well I'm just telling you. I say what I see It by superstar standard and but it's also fair and he's going against to superstar is one superstar against superstars. He is not expected to win this series. How does phenomenal but they're not hold that. How when did we claim Anthony Davis a superstar leave? When did we? He's one what That employer how many? Chris. You see what's still does I don't know if he won now Michael, from eighty four to ninety. He was a superstar and didn't win anything. You see how do you keep them GonNa go. That's all I'm saying is that you judge everybody by the same standard Michael Jordan didn't win anything did Anthony Davis in the playoffs run into the Celtics and the Boy Pistons seriously. But he did go you tell me. Old State he ran into Golden. State. Lebron James, and even if you don't want to give a D. that Ada. Is Way better than Damian. second-best player and Lebron is better than day So she'll. Be Sweet. I think it'll go six. You've told US early on that. The Lakers shouldn't have any trouble with Borland you start saying six or maybe seven I don't know what does he? said. Sweep. Sweeping six games you six game I don't remember I early on you just. Dismiss. ORLANDO. Game. You move your song you move. Ahead of ourselves right now let's wait and see what dame does tonight. Can he keep the going here for it? We want them to lock it up before we move on and. Good to have you. Brooklyn. Really to talk about this guy in the next coming weeks..
"damian lillard" Discussed on The Herd with Colin Cowherd
"And we are live on F s won-. And College football is shrinking very, very fast joy Taylor is joining me the PAC twelve, the big ten or out the big twelve for the moment says there in my prediction is the entire sport will shut down within the next two weeks. Joy. How are you? I'm good other than that. Loretta Sports is Great. It's very disappointing to save elise. So I am more of a solution person than a complain about stuff person. I'm not really into victimhood none of us get a fair shake. Right? Some parents are rich summer poor. The rich ones are weird distant. The poor ones are there and caring, but they don't have the resources atom on here about it. I'm a solution guy not a complaint about it guy. So how do you solve stuff the first way to solve anything? Solutions is honesty. got. To be honest about yourself gotta look in the Mirror about yourself. You got to look in the mirror and say some of this is me. Maybe it's not my boss, my wife, the government Metaxas. Nah some of its me. College Football College sports time to look in the mirror. College football is a business. It begins and ends with that fencing is a hobby. Volleyball is a hobby. That is mean how many pro volleyball leagues got out there. Yeah. To Hobby some really good at that, hobby? College Sports is overwhelmingly hobbies. Football is a business it makes hundreds of millions of dollars sometimes at one school. The TV contracts over two billion dollars a year then there's the digital money. It's a business K it's not a hobby it carries everything it pays for everything. College, sports has been a house of cards a runaway money eating house of cards I'm not saying college athletics is just about making money but it sure as hell not about hemorrhaging it fencing team's indoor and outdoor track. Really. If friends and family boyfriends and girlfriends are the only ones that show up. Shrink the Athletic Department. Something's gotTa make money besides. They're the one guy in the family paying almost all the bills. This is why I have offered a solution for I. Don't know joy a couple of years we've been together. It's time to privatize college. Football. Let. Everything else figure out their own problems. College football would like to have a bubble. They can't because the profits get eaten up by everything else. Now I do think holding a bubble in college is really difficult because kids are part of a entire campus environment. Some have said this is all about liability and legal issues, but is it really? I? mean. It would be Kinda hard to sue my school if I got Kovin because are we sure you got it at school? Could you prove that and by the way they got kids on campus that aren't athletes kids on campus that are athletes can everybody that gets covid sue athlete Non Athlete I don't think so and I'm not a lawyer but that sounds difficult. But we've got to be honest about this. There is one sport among all the big ten alone has three, hundred, twenty, five athletic programs. How many make money? I'd say the fourteen college football programs do and it's right about six basketball programs that make pretty good money not great but okay. But I mean, let's be honest about this. We can just complain about it over and over and over or we can have solutions. Let's be honest football's panel the bills. It's the one sport that America watches America Batson and it's also got all sorts of professional athletes. On their teams. When you watch an Alabama lsu game, they're forty five pros. They're just not allowed to be pros yet because in college football, you have three years minimum on campus before you're allowed to the professional league, the NFL basketball doesn't have those rules. A lot of kids now are just GonNa go overseas or go to the G. League. But College sports especially in the top programs is just a bunch of pro athletes who are a year away from body development from getting paid a lot and being pros and having all sorts of options and we treat it like it amateurism it's a business. Your coaches are making ten million dollars in the south. Your coordinators are making a million and a half dollars that ain't hobby that's a profession. You Got Forty NFL players in these games these Ohio state against Clemson. You Got Fifteen to twenty NFL players within a month within an hour. After the game, they go to training facilities in workout. But. The bubble, the liability all I know is Gimme a solution higher. AC- It's twenty twenty. How Does College Football? Not President? How is that possible? Two, billion dollar business? How does it not have a CEO? The lack of leadership is disappointing. But. If you had a leader, you had schedules even out this isn't about paying the players at just about standing what this is all about image likeness kids are driving ticket sales they're they're miniature economies, micro economies, and until college sports can be brutally honest that college football's a business and should be privatized. Would just going to keep going in circles I mean there's a reason. covid has very difficult but strong businesses are surviving. Poorly, run flawed week businesses are not. In College Athletic. Department are falling apart because they've been house of cards for decades. Or Damian Lillard scored sixty one last night he's pretty amazing. He's getting to the Wilt Chamberlain category of Multiple Fifty Sixty Point Games on the season know it's interesting it it's. It's amazing how important branding is. And I want to give you a player Alan Iverson that is culturally relevant and really a superstar right still very well known. Damian Lillard. To me offensively is every bit. Alan Iverson. But Allen Iverson had controversy in high. You knew him and then he went to a national power Georgetown and then he went to bid market Philadelphia. And a different game and a different style, and then he had a big shoe deal. then. There's Damian Lillard who went to high school and nobody knew who he was except we bursts state who offered him a scholarship there for a couple of years. Then he goes to small-market Portland. So small that it's the only NBA franchise that wouldn't be allowed to host an all star game. Do you know that they've been around since the seventies they've never hosted an all star game. They don't have a hotel big enough in the city I'm not joking. How does Portland never host a all star games great NBA city to small and then Damien doesn't have a massive shoe deal. I mean it's massive compared to what I get paid to wear my shoes you know but compared to like an Iverson. If you at these two players and remember Damian's got minimum three to five years left in his prime. If you look at their stats Iverson and Damian Lillard, they're incredibly similar points per game. Iverson has two more game that will change by the way over the next two to three years because Damian's in his prime and several prime years left assists field goal percentage three point percentage Damian's better playoff record neither great they had to carry kind.

"Main. You Ain't lying there Damian Lillard did not overreact. You gotTA remember the Golden Rule of doing this Dan or allow you know what it is. You GotTa talk about the Act and not the actor and call him. Spoiled and entitled to me was more of a shot at who he is and his character. And that's why I don't think dame was in the wrong and responded like he did and let's be real he didn't over react because he didn't spill allow. Ns every letter of it. Now Dame hot is hey going to be all with that. Said there's really a spiderweb of issues going on right here and I'm GonNa give you just two of them. One is Damian Lillard hypocrisy. Whatever you WANNA call. I called it Hollywood and day. No I love them but hey I got a call like I said your rookie year. Y'All lost all last thirteen games. You played in all of them including the last six when they were meaningless. Because you guys were out the play offs. Don't forget that that was the team that went out there and miss the playoffs. Only Thomas happened for Dame. So Dad has a point but then the real issue why everybody got juiced up on. This is because they don't think Dan is qualified. They're trying to check his certification because of his career the playing field. And now they're saying you are not the person that can speak truth to power. Which is Damian Lillard and his ability to play basketball? That's where I have an issue. Y'All can't be calling out people just based on their career. If the truth is the truth I would've lost half of by coaches if it was based on their qualifications were and football so I don't look at it that way. I always say if you're speaking your mind and is backed by facts and solid evidence. I'll give a damn word comes ringing from. I'm going to respect it and accepted. So that was my issue with that if ourselves. I think you make some great points. The thing I would say Damian Lillard and why I think it's a bit of an overreaction is because I think most people ignored the comments or is a former. Nfl backup quarterback talking about the NBA. Most people don't care. This wasn't Stephen. A Smith coming at this is an agent. Wardrobe are now coming at him. This is a former. Nfl quarterback coming at him and the reactions a bit over the top and you really brought some attention to Dan. Dan has issued two apologies because he can't handle the backlash of twitter. And I'm sure some of the feedback has been rationalized. The only thing I would say today and I say this to all of us and I think this is something daime will understand. Perhaps as he gets older because it took me a long time. Understand it anytime. You're of significant wealth and Damian. Lillard do about another two hundred fifty million dollars. I think over the next six years and even us on this show bean athletes. I was a tremendous high school athlete. There was a tremendous high school athlete while living in my father's one bedroom. Four Hundred Square foot apartment in the hood so despite being poor I was a tremendous high school athlete that live privileges life in high school. Because of my athleticism I was spoiled and title even to This Day living the life that I live. Now I have to fight being spoiled being entitled and so I just wouldn't reject these criticisms just because hey where I'm from my background or I do X Y and Z. We're all capable of being spoiled and entitled. We're all capable of a lot of negative characteristics by his bigotry Blah Blah Blah. I just wouldn't reject out of hand. I and so I get why he was upset because it does feel like someone that he has no access to someone. He's never gonNA see in a locker room. Have Conversation with has questioned character publicly. I wouldn't let it roll off my shoulders. If I'm dying wouldn't have given it the attention of a bar dog. A hit dog is the one that barks but but the other thing I would just reiterate to in everybody. We're all capable the life that we live sitting on TV talking about sports and getting paid for from our homes that will create a level of entitlement and being spoiled so i. It doesn't matter where you're from. It's where you're at and if you're not self aware you may overlook some things that get the behavior here in terms. I'm not gonNA play me games. Why some people might call this audit entitles. You're part of the Union and your league is in a crisis a lot of the players in crisis your television partners in crisis are you willing to do things that benefit everybody that may not be in your best interest. That might be what's driving people to say. Hey man is s spoiling entitled behavior. That's my thoughts on it. Oh.

"San Macho was absolutely great today on first day as he discussed the NFL's proposal for minority hiring incentives. And what really realistically needs to be done. To fix whatever's going on with the Rooney rule I think the expansion of the Rooney rule have a very minimal impact. I think the problem that I'm seeing with the NFL is that they like making minor changes. That are really insignificant. You go back to the history of the Rooney rule in two thousand and three that rule was implemented in three years later you to Black Coaches coaching the super bowl. I don't know if anyone really understands. How statistically significant that if there is less than four percent chance that you could have two black coaches in the NFL. Coaching the Super Bowl. And so you saw a huge upswing. Barry saw a major benefit will fast forward seventeen years. Later there's three black coaches currently right now in the NFL head coaches. That's a problem and there have been minor iterations to the Rooney rule. So if you keep making these minor innovations you're not going to see major change that needs to be a major up keevil of the entire system that that's interesting. You're talking about two black coaches three years later and then all these years later only three black coaches is that are you implying that that's the result of owners or GM's learning to game the system in other words it was working early on and then they adapted and figured out a way around it. I'm not what I'm not implying saying. There's a there's an opportunity problem. Everyone talks about this big adversity problem. Not There's an opportunity problem in that same problem exists in corporate America. The interesting thing about about where we're at now is that it's a pandemic a global pandemic to be able to get a chance to see what corporate America and the NFL. Looks like you saw people who are in the working class. I'll use as an example. Seventy to eighty percent African American. Who are the Workers? And you've got the owners and the general managers and the coaches are predominantly white. Three at the last twenty years of head coaches have been white. That's an issue and you talk about this being an offensive league. You're talking about there being a trend towards offense of coordinators being promoted. Here's the issue with that and that may be true airbnb office coordinator top F in the League. He's not a head. Coach Byron left which offers according to top in the league. African Americans will. He's not a head coach and so yes. The system is being circumvented but the issue behind it is it is you of of cronyism is really what it is you've got. You've got coaches and general managers hiring people who look like them and that's an issue. That's a problem. You're not hiring the best candidate. You're hiding the candidate. You're most comfortable with your take on. Espn RADIO ESPN news. That echoes the sentiments of some of what we talked to Dominic Foxworth about earlier today. Look there isn't a perfect solution to this problem but there is a problem if there wasn't a problem than they wouldn't have instituted the Rooney rule in the first place and this isn't just about expanding the Rooney rule. This is about fixing a rule that isn't working if the entire intent of the rule was to put the best candidates in front of the right people to make sure that the best candidate candidates get hired no matter what they look like. Is that happening? I think we all know the answer to that is no..

"Situations just asked Russell Westbrook and Paul George how they feel about him with the ball in his hands. When crunch Tom's arrive we know what Damian Lillard do especially James Harden because he did James Harden the White House those boys against Houston and the postseason years ago. He's a big top performing big moments. He's perennial all star is special and by the way a beautiful rap artists to which you can speak about. Max If you so choose what I would say to. You however is this. I Love Him and C. J. mccollum together. They are an elite back. Court I don't believe the two of them together based on how the League is constructed can win a championship together in Portland. So one of them has got to go for you to acquire assets for the other to be to shine without having shared the basketball. I think that's what it's going to take. I don't think you're going get that unless one of them has moved. Which is why I say I have told I have told Damian Lillard this he will tell you. I said New York City even though because as being biased Max as the Knicks Fan but the Lakers I would love. Could you imagine if Lebron head Damian Lillard to kick the ball out to my God? Lois have mercy. I mean low us. I'm sorry I got distracted. I just fantasize it. I just thought Spanish right now. Lebron James and Anthony Davis with Damian Lillard kick the ball out to who could pull up from forty literally forty. I mean Oh that would be something special. But I'm allowed to fantasize I'm allowed to dream that ain't gonNA happen but that's what I think it would take. I don't believe that Damian Lillard will ever win a championship in Portland. Because I don't believe Portland will ever have the assets to win the chip in that city. I just don't even. I don't believe that time is money. Money is time when you stay focused. Man You look up and your money is fine. Dan Dollar Dame Corron Damian Lillard can win a championship. It's possible but in order for that to Happen Mule. She can't just be a very good. Gm which he is. He's a very good excellent. He has to be a hall of fame. He has to be encouraged. And what do I mean by that? Prime Prime Free agents. Don't sign in Portland. They never have. Maybe they will sometime but like people really need to think about this new only cities that rhyme time free agent signing. I don't mean guys who might make an all star team. I mean guys who might win an MVP or warm weather cities and major metropolitan areas even with the history. Because they don't do it in New York until K. D. in Cairo did in Brooklyn but the Knicks. Don't get prime-time free agents. Really Allan Houston me. So so what do you have to do? Can Lillard be tied for the Best Player in a championship team for him to win a championship? He's going to need another guy at least was good as him. Cj mccollum excellent that nurtures excellent not as good as those two but very good piece. They share done a great job getting talent to Portland through the draft. What they need to do now is probably draft and develop a wing who can be an all star caliber player. I take your on. Espn news. I'm not going to react to anything. The blazers need to drastically differently. Because let's understand it. They came into. The season was sneaky expectations now. The fact is to to some injuries and slow start. They didn't meet some of those expectations. But do we believe that they can go on a run. I don't know if I'm a blazers fan. I still think that man if we get some truncated version of the season and a playoff moving forward. It's going to give me opportunity to get something done and do something special. That straight talk straight. Talk wireless everything. We're less only at Walmart. We WanNa keep taking your take. You guys fired up about all things. Rooney rule I take your take on. Espn RADIO ESPN news. We've had a lot of discussion about it today. I'm happy to let you guys becky Minnesota Becky. What are your thoughts? What you got on the rule. Well I'm looking at a little different take and then. It's more career path between coaching and playing. Because all these coaches have college degrees and I know Mike Tomlin and Brian Flory's and anthony land all went and got their college degrees and so I'm just wondering if more people need to stay in college getting that cue. Well yes as the money used to be so much different between the NFL and college football did they. Were much different tracks. You know you wanted one of the other you wanted the NFL for bigger profile bigger money. That's no longer the case. So yes there is some level of the ability to go back and be part of the college game. I think for that though for a lot of coaches comes down to what really excites you. A college coaches especially assistant coaches in the college game. We're faced with so much recruiting work to do so much work doing tracking students. It's really about a love the university you go to versus a pro NFL coach. Who is immoral situation where there about the a nose? It's supposed to be about moving forward in that sense so I understand what you're saying about the degree now. Part of that is because when you're done playing trying to figure out what's next so are you going back and finishing your degree on a necessity out of. I don't know what I'm doing my life right now or out of going straight into the pipeline of being able to coach. I will say this. If you've been a successful quarterback that knows how to teach the game teach the position of quarterback. I don't know the degree necessarily helps you on that too much and without going into my other tangent. This is why I do believe that athletes should be given the opportunity to major in their sport. If you had the opportunity to major in football like I had the opportunity to major in Violin. Performance that exists. Then you could actually learn things that you need to know to make you a better coach. Schools could be doing things to help the coaching tree. In General Allen Pennsylvania always love it when alcohols al. What are you got man? What's your take on this task? Jason thanks for taking my call Before I get started I want to ask you a question I do you. Do you know who the first minority head coach was to win a super bowl? Tom Flora's I believe okay. Yeah absolutely right below writers. Yes absolutely you know and he wanted to. He wanted to them as a matter of fact here. Here's a guy that Al Davis Was hiring minorities. He had hired to minority coaches before anybody else. I ever hired one because later on in that. Same DECADE HIRED. Art Shell Tom Floors naturally. Use IT I two in which you know. He won two super bowls. Which made Jim Plunkett? The first minority quarterback to win a to win a super bowl. And I. I've always taken objection to the this being called the Rudy rule when Al Davis hiring minorities long before this Rooney rule came out. And you're not. You're not wrong about that. I think it's called the Rooney rule because it was the rule family that that proposed the rule be instituted. But I've long since that as a raiders fan. I'm proud of the fact that Tom Floors. Our show. Our coaches that were hired without question and in fact when I have high level questions on what things mean around. Nfl The the NFL topics. I've got something really deep. I need an understanding on amy. Trask is somebody. I go to on twitter all the time. That was a front office. Executive for the raiders as well. So you know I wanna live in a world where every team hires male female black white doesn't matter what your nationality is doesn't matter where you're from just matters. Can you coach. Can you run a franchise? That's where we WANNA live. Unfortunately that's just not happening and again as Jim. Trotter pointed out when he tweeted about this from the NFL network when he pointed out we have the lowest rate right. Now that we've had in seventeen years now should be pointed out as was tweeted by the NFL network and trotter as has been verified by ESPN right now. It looks like the proposal that we've been talking about to vote on. This has been tabled. This is from Jim Trotter. A little bit ago said. Nfl owners have tabled a resolution to incentivize the hiring a minority coaches and general managers per source. I'll go back to the name. I just mentioned amy. Trask who I think is smarter than virtually everybody on this. Who then quote tweeted and said this is what is most often done when they're not not enough votes to pass a proposed resolution. Trust me on this. Okay I do trust amy on this she would know so what we what she's saying is this isn't going away but there's not enough votes right now to make it happen so it's at least temporarily tabled. We're not tabling your take on it..

"Her voice. You just heard for a radio audience joy. How are you that was wild gray game? That's one of the best playoff games. I can ever. Remember? I seriously that that data is the best playoff game. I've watch almost felt like Golden State and LeBron kyri hitting the shot. I was just completely riveted. So let's start with their listen. I'm not going to bring out the hammer on Westbrook today. What's the point? Why be mean-spirited? I'm not a bully that game wasn't about Westbrook game was about Damian Lillard that the series was about Damian Lillard Westbrook. Got your to the series just like movie stars gets into the theater, and then you watch the movie and you realize there's a new movie star. It's official Damian Lillard has moved himself in to the top four elite point guards in the league. I'd call them the killers Steph, Hardin Lillard and Kyrie pay are the killers. You don't want the ball near their hand with a minute left Westbrook. Okay. I'll be a jerk. Once he is the momentum killer that final sequence Oklahoma City had this game on it was going back to the mid west the final sequences. What just drives me crazy Paul George was absolutely on fire fourteen of twenty shots. If it wasn't for Lillard. Amazing series. Paul was it was Paul verse Damian series and Westbrook had the ball. And you'd think you'd want to get it to the hottest guy in the world, not named Damian Lillard. And here's what transpired. Shot clock and gave black Westbrook. Another lai-ha. I mean do forced up percent Rozov rebound a tape unify ballgame Daime, we'll bring it up before our team. We want the last data clears midpoint. He's gone eleven tied at one fifteen proud rising defeat George role defense Lillard spread floor muehler reporting seven working down to two to one three. Series of walk off, very problem. Unbelievable. Again, this is not about hammering Westbrook. I said it yesterday. He's a relentless talent uneven a little stubborn for me. But he's moving away from the current game. Lillard is an amazing talent who's moving toward it that final sequence one guy put on a nineteen ninety-five move trying to draw the foul. The other guy pulled up and nailed a thirty seven footer. It's the way the world works. You can still defend Westbrook. Hell of a talent you can still idolize him by his jersey. I get it. He's fun. He got us all into this series. He got us into the theater. I watch him constantly Westbrook gets me to the theater. But once I watched the movie, I like, the new young movie star the twenty eight year old who went to Weeber state who's up in the northwest. He's the new movie star. He's a killer, by the way, I can put up the stats and the numbers. It was lopsided one guy. Thirty three a game on average twenty to one shot. Forty six percent. One shot thirty six Westbrook had. Minus forty-three in this series Lillard at plus fifty five again, there's no reason to drop the hammer. No reason to bag on the old movie star. I just like the new one I just like the new one last night. Listen westbrook. Got his triple double. He's a he's he's a monster. He's a triple double monster. He's an athletic tornado. He's unbelievably relentless..
