I thought so Damian, who manages the restaurant. He also thought it was passable. A few of us picked up a faint flavor of poor crying. But if you weren't really looking for it, you wouldn't notice it was there. One of the restaurant staff, a guy named Ethan Van Buren have the simplest, clearest explanation. I think that when you slice something I've really been in deep right. It's going to taste like something that's been deep fried if if a plateful of the bun came out How many people do you think would would even.

"This is in the case where they could just cancel this game. I would think So At that point, you'd have to think that they're gonna have a week 18. Right now we're talking to Tim Barbell is for a couple of more minutes. What's not connecting with the Ravens this year? Last year they were in absolute juggernaut during the regular season. We knew that you were going to take a step back. You're not going 14 and to every season Lamar is not gonna go for almost 3500 yards and run for 1000. But it doesn't appear like it's really coming together like it's really gel this season. What's going wrong with the Ravens so far this year? Well, injuries have played a factor losing Brandon Williams and Colas. Campbell. Derrick Henry went ran nuts in the fourth quarter and over time of the prior prior week, Damian Harris a couple weeks ago ran nuts on them without those two big guys up front, but Offensively. It just hasn't been the same. You look a 2019 where they're setting NFL records for rushing yards by a team in a season. Lamar Jackson and unanimous M V P. He hasn't been as good this year. And you could make an argument. No one on the offense this year has been as good or better than they were in 2019. It just seems like everyone's kind of regressed marquees. Brown was a guy that the Ravens were having big time expectations for him and year two and ever since the bye week. He hasn't done much, and and he popped off on Twitter and he was shut out of the Titans game didn't have a catch. He had a drop in that game. The offensive line hasn't been as effective and of course, they lost Ronnie Stanley, and they lost. Nick Boyle, who's Paramount in there run game as one of the top blocking tight ends run blocking tight ends, but the offensive line struggle Matt scorer coming back from a serious knee injury, everyone saw his horrible snaps on display on that Monday night game against the Sunday night game against the Patriots. Last question here we have about two minutes left Tennessee's making the playoffs. In my opinion in the A F. C. So is Cleveland That leaves three teams fighting for one spot. Let's assume that it's going to be seven teams and not eight. Do you think the Ravens make the postseason? Well, I guess I would say the Steeler game. It's not looking good for them if they do play Tuesday night, But the thing that goes in the Ravens favor is that their remaining schedule is very Winnable. You got a game against the Cowboys, Brown's Jaguars giant spangles. I would think that the Ravens can get 10 wins, Maybe maybe 11, so that would put them in a good position to make the playoffs with 17 and in They have the tie breaker over the Colts, and if they can beat the Browns, and they would have the head to head tiebreaker because they beat them weak one. So that's gonna be a big game A couple weeks Monday night in Cleveland, That is my guy, Tim Barbell ace. He covers the Baltimore Ravens and does their pre and postgame joining us today for the latest in Baltimore. Tim always good catching up with you, my friend. I appreciate it. You got a character? Week 10 fantasy football rankings: Running Backs

"I running backs schedule running backs derrick henry. It's actually pretty terrible for the next. three weeks. colts ravens colts. They are top for against fantasy running backs. Then it is unbelievable. And this is the time of year. We're derrick henry gets going anyway His last three his fantasy playoffs are jacksonville. Detroit and green bay. So i i'm recommending. My dalvin cook sell high. And we're going to wait until this primetime game against the colts and hope derrick henry struggles a little bit. And then we're going to sell dalvin cook for derrick henry and very good wide receiver. Okay i because he's going to destroy jacksonville detroit and green bay and the fantasy playoffs. Jonathan taylor is. I have a tough time. Buy into this. But has four matchups against teams. That are twenty nine. Th or worse against running backs this week against tennessee. I don't think it's that great of a match up. They've been really good. The last five games against running backs these per carry giving up some points. But they're giving up touchdown they are giving up touchdown touchdown every game tennessee this year. But you know he's got houston he's got vegas. He's got houston again in week. Sixteen might be tough against pittsburgh but the match ups are great. Does it matter. I don't know what jonathan taylor. We'll see what his role is he's got to just he's got to start playing freely and i think that's what the colts are waiting for. I think the colts are going to give him every opportunity to to get there but he. He's splitting the russian downs. Work with jordan wilkins in the hemans. The hurry up back the passing downs back. David montgomery talked about best remaining schedule. And then two teams. That probably doesn't matter but the foul. I guess i shouldn't say that all that. You guys determine that via broncos and the patriots like damian harris is is locked in. He could be pretty good down the stretch but obviously we don't know if that's going to be the case but yeah patriots and broncos have good schedules now. You go running backs with bad schedules. This one i think is very very important. Kenyan drake. I don't know if anybody is really into kenyan drake but terrific low. You think so yes. Because he's got some very good run. Defenses coming up very good. Maybe he's not such a good bye. I hate the schedule. Buffalo's not good. That's this week. if he's back. Seattle is a good run defense. Their twelve against running backs new england's of matchup. But then after that. So we're talking. That's week ten eleven weeks thirteen and on the rams the giants the eagles the forty niners. That's weeks fourteen. Thirteen fourteen fifteen sixteen. Those are four really good run defenses. And that's kenyan drake who only runs and doesn't have any involvement in the passing game so the whole point is to trade firm at the lowest possible price and it's because chase edmonds isn't gonna take his job when he comes back at it sir feels like he'll still have that role that rundown role maybe drake as the guy to go target. If you're desperate for a running back in the next three games not so much for the rest of the season you think this week. He might not even play this week. That's the problem is today. It feels like those games that you're referencing in the playoffs. Are more chase edmonds games than kenyan drake games like. Drake could play all four of those games against her. Three of those games against a good wendy fences and for edmonds might just be better. I think it's four good run. Event is the rams giants eagles niners and the giants thing. They're just about like fourteenth about as close to average as you can be but that's because they're really bad against pass catching running backs. They're not fourteenth in run. Vincent fourteenth and fantasy points allowed to running backs so that does feel more like a chase edmonds game like you. Just look at antonio gives they give us some touchdowns. Mckissic was a lot better than gibson. Even though gives another touchdown i dunno. I dunno school. Fantasy points because of the touchdown. But that's my point like these are good run defenses. So for a guy who's not involved in the passing game at all too scary schedule. I think down the stretch for kenyan drake.

A global movement to solve global problems

"For years I have been working on a simple idea for humanity to tickets. Next leap ahead, we need to work together across borders to so global issues. In, the modern world new water bora can protect us from crisis. We have no other choice but to unite. And we need to do it fast in two thousand, sixteen I was devastated by the UK's decision to leave the European Union. I'm French for me. The EU is more open and global. Society. But sudden, these be shuttered and I wasn't feeling this way. My partner Andrea who's Italian and Damian a German friend also called the shock of seeing the world turning inward. We realized that despite being from three different countries, we witnessed the same challenges migration fluids being dealt with an inhuman. Mana. Climate Change. Well, how you employment And we also had the same hopes and dreams in everyday lives. We also realized that to SUV European issues the outdated model of always national interests I had to go. So we decided to act for a few months we west on the idea of launching votes, the first pan-european political movements, and then naturally we told facebook friends. And a lot of them responded saying that were up the challenge and wanted to help. People started holding small community meetings in parks, universities, and pubs to discuss common future and shed their solutions to the continent's biggest problems. We mobilized tens of thousands of people across twenty eight European countries, two years in. Damian was elected to the European Parliament on the campaign run by volunteers across borders on the idea that we just from together. We should that by collaborating across borders by nineteen and acting as one, we could start changing how people think. With the first ones to attempt something of this scale and to succeed despite this after the European elections in May two thousand and nineteen on drown I looked into, which is an asked that frank question that you never want to ask. Once you have what two years would something that actually worked out is this enough? No it wasn't. We knew that today's urgent challenges and not just your but global. We also knew that we couldn't even attempt to solve them by only focusing on Europe. A continent that represents less than ten percents of the world's population John Lying issue is that the way we see the world and the way the world works who mentally wrong. In. The span of two generations to what has changed more than in the previous twenty thousand years we can lend on the moon. We can wake up and Shane Guy in Gutu better in New York, we have access to a huge amount of information all the time every way. But we still see the world as I meet Ceti but issues like covid nineteen, climate, change migration, fiscal justice, human rights mean that we need to think and united beyond national borders. A global approach is needed to solve them. Countries need to collaborate share resources, information and solutions. It's not just the right thing to do, but it's also the smart one. So in the weeks following dungeons election on brand I decided that we would create a global movement to unite people beyond borders and so those issues that concern us all. We, call it now because we're not very creative and because it needs to happen now. So I know that going beyond national borders is not the easiest thing too. So here's the framework that has been guiding our work. I could think unites and it forward I. We need to change the way we think about the world whether we like it or not already live in a globalised world we need to stop thinking within national frameworks and start thinking globally take, for example, how we think about taxation. Multinational companies like facebook or Amazon or radio operate across borders but they pay very little taxes in very few countries because we think of them within national frameworks and as a result, we lack a global tax system due to this country's are deprived of at least five, hundred, billion dollars annually. Five hundred billion dollars to put it in perspective half of amount of money we could put an end to global hunger for one year, but we don't. Because of the way, we think about the world. At now, we want to change this. We connect people from all across the world who discuss work together and understand that global is the new normal and that they have more in common than what separates them. We host wiki events in which we discussed topics such as lgbt rights, pandemics, fiscal justice, or mental health. We've breakdown. This book challenges to see how they impact people in various parts of the world and I met this have already shown a global thinking actively rallying governments to solve those issues like ensuring a fetish abuse of vaccines across the. World.

Breaking Down the New York Giants Initial Practice Squad

"Other thing going on with the giants roster is the shaping of their practice squad. We're not gonNA project who we think is going to be on the practice squad because as were recording it, we should receive some type of news by the end of the day Sunday, who is on the practice squad for some reason? You probably noticing this to the giants have been taking their time. To the fullest extreme to put in all this information, their fifty three man roster I think was announced. Ten or fifteen minutes after the required four o'clock deadline. Meanwhile, every other team had already gotten their stuff in before that chalk that up to Dave gettleman and Joe Judge trying to take their time in re be very detailed with it. They also this is official that we already talked about some of the claims but they have claimed offense tackle Jackson, Barton, wide receiver, Damian Rally, and then also safety Adrian Colbert they could either end up on the roster or be pushed to the practice squad. But the one thing that's worth noting and we're GONNA talk about the practice once official on another episode but it's worth noting that this season the practice squad is very. Very unique. It's bigger than it typically is and teams are going to be using it as a shuffling group that if someone gets sick, they can send them home quickly, sign them to come play right away they're gonNA travel. I would bet with most of if not all of these guys and have the bill availability to sign them immediately in the case of an emergency yet honestly to for me, that's kind of a step closer to what the practice squad should be anyway I I've never really liked the practice squad the way it has been where it's limited the guys who can be on it are very limited in the amount experience they can have and. They're really not protected at all. So any team can basically swipe a player off any other teams practice squad on very little notice. and. To me I I really do like these changes to the practice squad rules. The fact that it's bigger that the teams can keep more players around they don't have quite the same constraints on. Experience that we've seen in years past and the fact that they can promote guys from the practice squad to the active roster on basically ninety minutes notice. So I really like the flexibility that that gives teams and I'm sure we're going to be seeing teams take advantage of that this year probably in ways that the NFL isn't exactly planning on. And I wouldn't be surprised if there are certain aspects of this short-term practice squad for this season that are maybe tried to be translated into next year or come next CBS negotiation asked for by the players. So more players can stick around and be retained by their various teams it. It is a lot better like you said, Chris compared to way the way. That they've done it previously, it's better to have more guys if you can carry as many guys as they are allowed to this

Gotham Knights doesn't have Batman in it and Suicide Squad

"Gotham Knights is the next game from the developer behind Batman Arkham. And Batman isn't in it? DC held its massive DC fan dome event this weekend where they shared all kinds of panels and trailers for DC related stuff. They talked about wonder woman nineteen eighty-four, which looks cool and the Snyder cut of Justice League which look you know I am ecstatic for you. If you're excited about that I don't think making that movie longer it's going to make it any better, but you know that has nothing. To do with video games. They also showed a trailer for the Robert Patents and Matt Reeves Batman Movie, which I thought looked pretty great. I'm excited for that. But the most exciting news for me was learning about what WB Montreal was working on and learning a lot more about rock steadies suicide squad game. So finally, officially, WB Montreal revealed it is working on a game called Gotham knights the trailer for the. Game Open with a newscast revealing that Bruce Wayne is dead and then a cut to a video. Batman had recorded in case of his death and what needed to be done in his absence, and then we got to see back girl night wing Red Hood and Robin basically stepping it up to be the new protectors of Gotham from there it looked a lot like a Batman Arkham game which I am. Saying as a complement, each of the four heroes appears to have a distinct set of abilities and are able to drive bat cycles around Gotham. Bad girl seems perhaps the closest to playing as Batman. As we know him in the Arkham Games, a brawler uses a zip line to move around night wing was playable on a few occasions in the Batman Arkham Games and he looks similar here uses batons as weapons. Red Hood. Who sometimes bad guy. But seems to be a good guy in this instance uses guns. He is former Robin Jason Todd who was resurrected, and now you know very angry general. And finally, we saw robin the Tim Drake version. Of Robin, who appears to use a lot of tech gadgets I was certain. We were looking at Damian Wayne Bruce Wayne's biological son during the trailer who is Robin in the current Comic Book Canon. But after the fact, it was made pretty clear that this is Tim Drake. The trailer ended with a tease we have been expecting for long time with the Court of owls taking center stage. We saw familiar locations from the Court of Appeals, comics people wearing court of appeals, masks, and hundreds of coffins that store the immortal superhumans at the Court of Appeals tends to use to do its dirty work. After the trailer premiered, they showed about seven minutes of Gameplay. The game play footage took place about a dozen hours into the game and focused on a part of the story revolving around Mr Freeze we saw back girl wearing a different costume than what was shown in the trailer running around the city, zipping up to rooftops and attacking enemies from above Robin joined her similarly wearing a different outfit than the one seen in the trailer, and they made their way into Mr Freezes. Fort I guess you could say where he had this crazy weather machine going multiple approaches to taking out enemies were shown bat girl was more of a brawler uninterested in a stealthy approach but robin was shown sneaking up on enemies Alford called the duo to give them advice and we also saw and bat girl team up for a single attack it culminated with a boss fight confrontation Mr freeze before too much progress could be made against him. The video came to a close the game going to be an up to two player coop game and will apparently have lots of leveling up options over the course of the game and enemies will level up with you. Implication is you tackle things just about any order as a result if you're level five when you fight freeze, he's level five. But if you love of fifteen, then he is little fifteen in that changes things. Afterward. Zachary Levi. She's Zam himself asked WB Montreal a few questions. They didn't offer a whole lot of additional information. They did say the mystery is bigger than the court of owls though and later it was also confirmed that the game is separate from the Arkham universe it's a standalone new Batman Universe the game is planned for next year I love the narrative conceit of Batman being dead I. Hope they lean into that and it's not just a big endgame twist that he's been alive the whole time I, liked the. Idea of that crew of four trying to figure out how to protect Gotham without Batman I. think that's really cool I. also love the Look of writing the bat cycle through the city and how at least at this point it it does look close to Arkham game play.

Damian Lillard Exits Game 2 vs. Lakers With Dislocated Finger

"It's a big sigh of relief for Lakers Laker fans at least four game last night as Anthony Davis comes out aggressive the Lakers beat the Blazers one eleven, ninety eight, and again, that was never even close but Robert. This is where things change really quick Damian Lillard leaves the game. Late in the third quarter at, you're trying to stick his hand in there. Poking in for a loose ball dislocated left index finger he went to the locker room had it taped up x-rayed and x rays were negative. So that's a really good thing for him. His status for game three D doesn't really have status right now he said he's GonNa play I mean. Yeah Antares DOT at. It's a little too early to tell. Obviously it's good news that he has the the it's been. A negative x Ray and generally when you have a dislocated finger like this I've seen some some doctors talk about it and say. The vast majority of people play the next game as long as it's not the next day and so clearly, it looks like Lillard could play. But suddenly rob you go from twenty four hours ago where the blazers were. Hey, with this are playoff we're red hot. This is look Lillard. Lillard play off each star bubble. MVP. Whatever you want to say about them and here they are now trying to figure out. Man, we got boat raced in game two, and now we gotta get ready for game three and we have no idea how this injury is going to affect our best player things have changed overnight literally in the result of that game and Lillard getting injured because even if Lillard was healthy, they were still not winning that game last night it was all lakers. When he left, they were down by thirty wasn't it? Eighty five fifty five or something like that I mean so. The finger thing I get it as we move forward. Jason but you know after game one, they came out and laid an egg and I'm not really all that surprise I know everybody was so caught up on Portland they were all Lynn Dame Lillard and all the you know the upset special I heard all that and I get it. The Lakers didn't. Play well in a bubble eight games will awful I mean go look at the numbers down at the bottom and so many different categories, and then they laid an egg in game one and play poorly. So of course, people were the you know you're going to hear more about it but I picked the Lakers in this series I just didn't think that. Portland was going to be able. Even throughout the struggles of the Lakers that they would eventually be able to to win and the hard part is and what's always to me the neutralizer in the NBA when you talk about teams is breeding team four times you know you beating Anthony Davis and Lebron James Four Times. That's that's not an easy task. It just isn't and I think that's Ultimately why for the most part in the NBA better team always

"With the situation for the NBA's playoffs. The Blazers lose Game two. And you say more than that. Yeah, they lost. They lost their best player Damian Lillard late third quarter with a dislocated left index finger up to that point, the Lakers were dominating any way they want the game by 23. Lillard had 18 was one for seven from three had X rays after the game. They were negative. Head coach Terry Stotts said. It's too soon to know if he'll be able to play in Game three. Tomorrow night, Lillard said. Oh, I'm playing.

No. 8 Seed Blazers Shock Los Angeles Lakers In Game 1 Of Playoffs

"Portland. Right now. It's a Portland hoedown. Yeah, let's get it on Blazers beat the Lakers 100 to 93. They take Game one. Of this Western Conference first round playoff matchup, and there was never a moment where the Lakers were in control. There was a moment where they had gotten the game back to even but Portland was able to withstand that Damian Lillard with a huge night he goes for 34 points. He is perfect from the free throw line. Ah, McCollum and Newark. It's really did all of it between the three of them. They counted for over 70 points. It was a big night for them. Meanwhile, the Lakers they got 23. Read 17 and 16 from LeBron, who had a big night on the stat sheet. They got 28 from Anthony Davis. But the Lakers shot horrendously not so much about the missed free throws because they were 20 out of 31 Misty, nor inside the final four minutes. They did miss force turning four minutes, but they were five for 32 from three point range. Five out of 32. That's not going to do it in the bubble in the MBA playoffs when this is about offense. Putting points on the board. This was a horrendous offensive performance from the Lakers that had really bad performance is already in the bubble. You are worried about their offense, and I said no there find their figured out there figured out. This is tremendously awful, and of both one seeds to lose. Today I am way more concerned about the Lakers than I am about the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks losing to Orlando, Orlando gotta lead and the Bucks lost their

NBA playoff predictions 2020: Why the Lakers are unlikely to win NBA Finals, according to one model

"I'm glad that we finally are getting into like what I consider The meet of the season. The scrimmages weren't doing a damn thing for me. I could care less about the scrimmages that was for the players to get warmed up. That was to give everybody a chance to actually get something on the television screen. And then you know the eight games. I was like, whatever with a games I guess I felt like the Los Angeles Lakers, who went three and five during the eight games. Now they want to get revved up and try to win an MBA title and I get it. That's what I've been waiting for. So really, basketball is finally here. For me. It felt like a guy going over the weekend when the Portland Shura blazes one, they're playing game over the Memphis Grizzlies. John Moran went out and did what you would expect him to do. Ah, 35 points. I think he had eight assists, also had eight turnovers. He's still a young player. He's a killer. I hope he can get bigger. A little bit more devastating because he's a He's a rare combination in the MBA. He's going at your throat, but this year was not about him. Okay. This year is gonna be about who was gonna win the N BA title under an end Unique circumstances. Who's gonna walk away the N ba champion? In something and nobody would have ever thought about months ago. We actually didn't know whether or not we were gonna have a resumption of the embassies in I remember actually being on n ba TV. And when the season was shut down, I was hanging out with my main man, Channing Frye. We were getting ready to do our show and boom Rudy Gobert such positive and then Donovan Mitchell ends up testing positive and then the season shut down and nobody Back on March 11th knew what the hell was going on. And now that we got basketball back, it's real simple. It's what it is wide open. It's wide the hell open. I don't know who you could necessarily come out and say it is a favorite. Vegas right now says that the Milwaukee Bucks are a slight favorite over the two Los Angeles teams. In the Los Angeles Lakers. They haven't really had a great showing since the bubble got restarted. The offense has been mediocre. The offense has been pretty slapstick. The offense has been one of the worst in the N B A in the bubble. LeBron James. You know what you're going to get from LeBron. They sat him a game for precautionary reasons, had a growing issue but came back and everything is fine. And in the last game before the bubble he barely played got in a sweat, and they sat him down. Because LeBron James at this stage of his career, Yes, he's going to play basketball games that they're not gonna load manage LeBron James to death. But the reality is he's in it for rings. He's in it for a championship. He's in it for his legacy. Now. Unfortunately for him, he's playing what a bunch of role players that you can flip a coin and not necessarily know which direction they're going to go. Even his other superstar Anthony Davis. Needs to be more aggressive if the Lakers were gonna go ahead and make any type of move towards an MBA title. That's just the reality of it, and their opponent in the first round is not going to be forgiving. I told you that the Portland Trail Blazers have been on a roll. They have been on a run. You have. Ah, you're kitsch, who's back who missed almost all the last season of the majority of this season is well due to a leg injury. You have a rejuvenated Carmelo Anthony, who's not tasked with going out there and show shouldering the entire scoring low but can still knock down a big shot. Whether or not it's efficient or not. That's a totally different question. CJ McCollum is bowling out of control with a fracture in his back Gary Trent Junior is stepping up. So you might say that the Portland Trail Blazers at this point in time that they have more depth. That they have more of Ah street. That they're coming in with a little bit more fire in their back pocket. Even know in many cases, LeBron James to most, I would say too many is still considered the best basketball player in the league. You might say it's Yana, Santa Campo. But if I need someone to still run me to a title, I'm still looking at the guy who's done it the majority of his career and that's LeBron James. But they do have some issues and Damian Lillard he has his own thoughts about taking on the Los Angeles Lakers. Listen, what little it had to say The lady is the number one seed in the West for a reason. They got the best player in the world on a team. But at the same time we didn't fight a Zhar does before in the bubble, just they argued a sea org Anges Get beat up on. We feel like We have it. We have a chance in a serious against anybody in this league.

"damian" Discussed on The Herd with Colin Cowherd

"Are you joy and great spy Dave? feels. A little bit normal. Of. Little. Bit Normal. That's all I ask for in life with a little bit. Great Gambian have. You ever have a wedding. And you invite people but there's like one person or one topple you're like, no not going to them up you ever go to the bowl with the boys to Vegas for a weekend or Miami and you invite like four people but there's that one guy like. He makes living. He's funny. They don't invite him. You're having a party union girlfriend union boyfriend whatever having a party and you're you're setting people up and invite your friends, but there's this one. Is One couple is Just not let's not invite him to the party. Agitators, not lubricate hours they could be attractive. They have good jobs they something about them rubs you rubs other I mean there were the all the time you just don't think they were quite the wedding in the Vegas weekend at the Party. That's often. That's often the interesting couple. Kyrie irvings an interesting player. But when I watched Portland last night beat Brookland. Forget about Portland for a second. The Brooklyn Nets have now shown you three different times even though they lost. How is it? That close? How was it that close? Seven of the top eight players were for Portland including the MVP of the bubble three different times. Brooklyn has one without Kyri. They made the playoffs before he got there. Then, pre bubbly got their. The record was better when he didn't play in the bubble they were five and three. How how are they? Five and three? How did they beat the bucks? How did they beat the clippers? How they? Had they have beaten Portland last night. Because there is a massive difference. Between a friend and a friend, you could invite two big parties. There's a big difference between a great basketball talent Damian and Cairo fat and a winning basketball player who lubricates not agitates the room Dame Lillard this year six game stretch had to sit they went to and four. He missed eight games this year for Portland they went to and six. Damian Lillard Steph Curry Chris Paul now in Oklahoma City are not just great. They are winning basketball talent not just great basketball town. This is what I've said about Kyri and Westbrook. This is what I've said about Houston's winning percentage went down this year with Westbrook. Oklahoma City last year with Westbrook was a succeed this year without him. There are four seed. It's not a talent thing. It's just like you can have friends but the friend your little gun shy inviting to Vegas or the Party with you and your girlfriend or the wedding it doesn't mean you don't like them. Doesn't mean they're bad people but they're agitators not lubricates and when you watch Damian Lillard last night. Everybody can get involved as scoring thirty, forty fifty others can get involved. This is the difference that it drives me crazy. When the basketball media funds over Kyri in Westbrook and gives them significantly more love than a guy like, Damian, Lillard. Now basketball talents equal. I've said this before one of the one of the documentary Michael Jordan he could wear guys out now he's the greatest basketball player of all time, but Magic Johnson and Lebron James. Real lubricate. All Team they kind of elevate everybody they play with Michael didn't elevate everybody he played with he's just the best basketball player of all time. Probably, right So it last night was not just about Damian. Lillard in Portland getting to the plan which we thought they would do but did you notice how hard it was? Because passing matters and spacing matters in chemistry matters. It was the third time I've watched. Brooklyn. Boston got better when Kyri left. They got better Boston better before he got there duke was a number one seed. Kyrie's final year in college. He played eight games and they were good the next year when he left. Cleveland a finals again when Kyrie left nobody's saying, he can't make a shot. He's great shotmaker but we spent so much time fawning. Over the wrong players basketball's about winning games on just about style those style matters not about culture though culture matters basketball about winning and when he got this guy over my shoulder who you're looking at Damian Lillard he should be getting far more press. So should Chris Paul than Westbrook and Kyrie because they're all great? But two of them are lubar caters to others are talented but often agitators it does matter who you invite to the wedding. There are friends you won't invite to the wedding. There are friends there girl weekends and there'll be a girl you won't take the Miami or Vegas you. I've talked to girls. More. Come on joy there. there. There is that girl absolutely everybody's got a guide gun. I went on a Whitewater rafting trip ten years ago. All decent people married successful. One guy shouldn't have been invited. I mean because everybody doesn't work in every situation. That's right. Whereas Damian does Steph does Chris Paul one in caters Louis. They just need their. To thrive. That's right. So this is funny. Join I've often laughed about the math of the NFL the math is funding the NFL. So to chiefs pay Travis Kelsey fifty-seven million. So this is funny. So the chiefs are not going to be they're going to pay Patrick Mahomes five, hundred, million Chris Jones Eighty five, million travelers Kelsey seventy five, million honey badger last year got forty, two, million, tyreek hill, fifty four and the jets can't afford Jamal Adams. What I and who the Patriots play it's unbelievable. What Bank are the chiefs using? But. I will say this. I've got a couple rules in the NFL. Only play only pay great players, great money and. Where do they play the chiefs are doing it right? They're paying their quarterback. And the two players that elevate him a star receiver star tied in, and then they pay a defensive tackle check San Francisco they pay Garoppolo and they pay the guy that helps him Trent Williams a left tackle and George Kendall the tight end then they pay a couple of defensive tackles. Philadelphia does this they pay Carson Wentz? And they generally paid a lot of money. They just off season paid for a couple offensive lineman defensive lineman. And now a corner. So it. I'm not anti gay. I'm pay the big money. To either the quarterback or the people who helped him, and then a handful of defensive stars. The rams got in trouble because they paid a number three receiver. Brandon. Brooks. Brennan cooks excuse me way too much money. They paid the wrong guy. Then they paid todd. Early. And this brings me to Dallas Dallas makes the mistake. They pay Zeke. But he's a running back they pay Amari Cooper one, hundred, million. He's good but he struggled against really good. Secondary's they pay demarcus lawrence huge money. He had five sacks last year frank clog the chiefs a great defensive tackle who's well paid had five sacks for Kansas City in the postseason. That's the problem with.

WE'RE GONNA quickly run through the five little things and then you know kind of talk a little bit about it afterwards. So the first thing is emergency location services are now available. For Eight hundred million people in twenty nine different countries, and this is actually a pretty big deal. So emergency location services, or E. L.. As they're known some places, it doesn't require hardware and he downloads or updates, and this particular ability is built into Google play services and will work for any phone running android four point one and up, which is great Some of the benefits of this include faster response times for emergency calls and better accuracy for location data. And unless if your son's fan of the sons they got a victory today, they're still undefeated inside the bubble or unless if your grizzly span or you still give this the Spurs a puncher's chance. And you have the pelicans and the Kings now eliminated If you just like basketball and let's say you don't have a dog in that fight. "Situations just asked Russell Westbrook and Paul George how they feel about him with the ball in his hands. When crunch Tom's arrive we know what Damian Lillard do especially James Harden because he did James Harden the White House those boys against Houston and the postseason years ago. He's a big top performing big moments. He's perennial all star is special and by the way a beautiful rap artists to which you can speak about. Max If you so choose what I would say to. You however is this. I Love Him and C. J. mccollum together. They are an elite back. Court I don't believe the two of them together based on how the League is constructed can win a championship together in Portland. So one of them has got to go for you to acquire assets for the other to be to shine without having shared the basketball. I think that's what it's going to take. I don't think you're going get that unless one of them has moved. Which is why I say I have told I have told Damian Lillard this he will tell you. I said New York City even though because as being biased Max as the Knicks Fan but the Lakers I would love. Could you imagine if Lebron head Damian Lillard to kick the ball out to my God? Lois have mercy. I mean low us. I'm sorry I got distracted. I just fantasize it. I just thought Spanish right now. Lebron James and Anthony Davis with Damian Lillard kick the ball out to who could pull up from forty literally forty. I mean Oh that would be something special. But I'm allowed to fantasize I'm allowed to dream that ain't gonNA happen but that's what I think it would take. I don't believe that Damian Lillard will ever win a championship in Portland. Because I don't believe Portland will ever have the assets to win the chip in that city. I just don't even. I don't believe that time is money. Money is time when you stay focused. Man You look up and your money is fine. Dan Dollar Dame Corron Damian Lillard can win a championship. It's possible but in order for that to Happen Mule. She can't just be a very good. Gm which he is. He's a very good excellent. He has to be a hall of fame. He has to be encouraged. And what do I mean by that? Prime Prime Free agents. Don't sign in Portland. They never have. Maybe they will sometime but like people really need to think about this new only cities that rhyme time free agent signing. I don't mean guys who might make an all star team. I mean guys who might win an MVP or warm weather cities and major metropolitan areas even with the history. Because they don't do it in New York until K. D. in Cairo did in Brooklyn but the Knicks. Don't get prime-time free agents. Really Allan Houston me. So so what do you have to do? Can Lillard be tied for the Best Player in a championship team for him to win a championship? He's going to need another guy at least was good as him. Cj mccollum excellent that nurtures excellent not as good as those two but very good piece. They share done a great job getting talent to Portland through the draft. What they need to do now is probably draft and develop a wing who can be an all star caliber player. I take your on. Espn news. I'm not going to react to anything. The blazers need to drastically differently. Because let's understand it. They came into. The season was sneaky expectations now. The fact is to to some injuries and slow start. They didn't meet some of those expectations. But do we believe that they can go on a run. I don't know if I'm a blazers fan. I still think that man if we get some truncated version of the season and a playoff moving forward. It's going to give me opportunity to get something done and do something special. That straight talk straight. Talk wireless everything. We're less only at Walmart. We WanNa keep taking your take. You guys fired up about all things. Rooney rule I take your take on. Espn RADIO ESPN news. We've had a lot of discussion about it today. I'm happy to let you guys becky Minnesota Becky. What are your thoughts? What you got on the rule. Well I'm looking at a little different take and then. It's more career path between coaching and playing. Because all these coaches have college degrees and I know Mike Tomlin and Brian Flory's and anthony land all went and got their college degrees and so I'm just wondering if more people need to stay in college getting that cue. Well yes as the money used to be so much different between the NFL and college football did they. Were much different tracks. You know you wanted one of the other you wanted the NFL for bigger profile bigger money. That's no longer the case. So yes there is some level of the ability to go back and be part of the college game. I think for that though for a lot of coaches comes down to what really excites you. A college coaches especially assistant coaches in the college game. We're faced with so much recruiting work to do so much work doing tracking students. It's really about a love the university you go to versus a pro NFL coach. Who is immoral situation where there about the a nose? It's supposed to be about moving forward in that sense so I understand what you're saying about the degree now. Part of that is because when you're done playing trying to figure out what's next so are you going back and finishing your degree on a necessity out of. I don't know what I'm doing my life right now or out of going straight into the pipeline of being able to coach. I will say this. If you've been a successful quarterback that knows how to teach the game teach the position of quarterback. I don't know the degree necessarily helps you on that too much and without going into my other tangent. This is why I do believe that athletes should be given the opportunity to major in their sport. If you had the opportunity to major in football like I had the opportunity to major in Violin. Performance that exists. Then you could actually learn things that you need to know to make you a better coach. Schools could be doing things to help the coaching tree. In General Allen Pennsylvania always love it when alcohols al. What are you got man? What's your take on this task? Jason thanks for taking my call Before I get started I want to ask you a question I do you. Do you know who the first minority head coach was to win a super bowl? Tom Flora's I believe okay. Yeah absolutely right below writers. Yes absolutely you know and he wanted to. He wanted to them as a matter of fact here. Here's a guy that Al Davis Was hiring minorities. He had hired to minority coaches before anybody else. I ever hired one because later on in that. Same DECADE HIRED. Art Shell Tom Floors naturally. Use IT I two in which you know. He won two super bowls. Which made Jim Plunkett? The first minority quarterback to win a to win a super bowl. And I. I've always taken objection to the this being called the Rudy rule when Al Davis hiring minorities long before this Rooney rule came out. And you're not. You're not wrong about that. I think it's called the Rooney rule because it was the rule family that that proposed the rule be instituted. But I've long since that as a raiders fan. I'm proud of the fact that Tom Floors. Our show. Our coaches that were hired without question and in fact when I have high level questions on what things mean around. Nfl The the NFL topics. I've got something really deep. I need an understanding on amy. Trask is somebody. I go to on twitter all the time. That was a front office. Executive for the raiders as well. So you know I wanna live in a world where every team hires male female black white doesn't matter what your nationality is doesn't matter where you're from just matters. Can you coach. Can you run a franchise? That's where we WANNA live. Unfortunately that's just not happening and again as Jim. Trotter pointed out when he tweeted about this from the NFL network when he pointed out we have the lowest rate right. Now that we've had in seventeen years now should be pointed out as was tweeted by the NFL network and trotter as has been verified by ESPN right now. It looks like the proposal that we've been talking about to vote on. This has been tabled. This is from Jim Trotter. A little bit ago said. Nfl owners have tabled a resolution to incentivize the hiring a minority coaches and general managers per source. I'll go back to the name. I just mentioned amy. Trask who I think is smarter than virtually everybody on this. Who then quote tweeted and said this is what is most often done when they're not not enough votes to pass a proposed resolution. Trust me on this. Okay I do trust amy on this she would know so what we what she's saying is this isn't going away but there's not enough votes right now to make it happen so it's at least temporarily tabled. We're not tabling your take on it..

"Didn't pick this radio G can't say that I can I come down So yes so. After the whole wedding I still felt what happened. Yeah let's talk like I can't sleep with. I can't go out and party with my friends like I need to figure this out because this is my relationship is something that I just you know need to figure out so I reach out to him a couple hours after and yeah and I was just like can we talk. Can we be friends? Throw down after the chair third down and because you know I go through a lot of emotions all at once and I was like okay G. Calm down he's hurting. You're hurting your the only two people that know what happened like let's he'll start healing. The wound reached out to him and and we kind of just kept talking and talking and we snuck back into our old apartment and it's kind of like held each other and credit out and never left each other side since finding out how long ago you filmed and knowing that you guys are still together today I think that's beautiful. And it's amazing and I have like serious Like love admiration for you guys. Congratulations thank you so much and and you know listen. I didn't find love on a reality TV show. But I've seen a million freaking times. You know every season I go to Mexico I see and so it's it's cool to like you know I've seen this before and it's nice to see it again. We always throughout the show with rapid fire questions but I want. I don't want to do it today because I'm Lazy. My Fiancee Sarah. Hyland wants to ask them So eastern you have them pulled up the producers help Damian with that date with the roses on the bed and putting the dress on the bed or was that all you also did the producers by the dress for you was it from her closet or was it interesting. He that is a great question So we were able to. We were going to have a date day But I came up with a lot of the ideas involve with that. I said you know she always feels grounded. I I wanted to fly And a lot of that time period is sorta hard to do on your own so I had a great team to help assist with that But I am a hopeless romantic and I love planning things. I mean the letter boxes me. Hey I wanna have nice dress for. I needed help like envisioning Shula. Great in But overall those dates were really planned by the guys and they wanted to. Do I want a little more extravagant because trying to get those butterflies back. Yeah But I mean there were times united. Use My own money to make sure that I had the things that we needed. Yeah and get reimbursed. Great Audit was like. Hey let's let's make this happen. We had a great production team. That really helped assistance when we needed it because in timeframes that I'm like we're rushing. Were Boo boo peek. Dress will look great honor. Please can't help me like you know but it came from the heart and I've always you can ask her today. I still try to surprise into amazing. Thanks for it's all him and I like this to be ratified by the okay rapid fire. That was that was really cool. I totally understand. Like you've got these ideas but you need help in that scenario next one. How many hours did they get in the podcast day for dates? You guys said that. First of all seven datings fifteen hours a day with with every two or three days. It was what fifteen hours a day. Sixteen that's long yeah. Were they able to request people for dates? Since I don't WanNa talk to this person. I only WanNa talk to this person. This person and the producers figure out the time line at that with other people scheduling wise. There was a Mex- right like I was like. This is my guy this is why I wanNA talk to you. Never WanNa talk to this person again and that's pretty much what happened okay. Yeah I didn't get people that I don't WanNa talk to. I don't know about you. Do you have the dress? Question won't end on the dress question. Okay what did Geneina say? When she ripped her dress you can have your what back home. Why did you rip rip up the dress tight on him so in the beginning of the show you can see giving me putting a bow on his left wrist on his right wrist and saying I'm your gift Because of boxes just box with a bow. And that's the gift and I actually have a tattoo on my left hand of Abo- and he didn't know that so that was kind of like our thing right like we are each other's gifts and so at the end of it after I ran away and fell and there was like this perfect little sliver of my dress hang off and I was looking down. You know like all mad. And I saw an allergist like ending it and robbed I ripped the rest of the rest of the address off tight on his hand and I was like you can take your Bobak and that burqas gifts the US slap in the face. That was worse. Yeah Yeah Gina Damian. Thank you guys so much for being on the wells cast. Thank you so much. Thank you some more graduations. Get on the engagement as well. Thank you you guys go to my wedding. I got to come to you. Here's.

"Mean it was definitely rough just because when you match a face to a voice You don't you don't know what to expect. You don't know how that person's GonNa feel or smell or when you start getting into that rhythm. I think when you start dating anybody it's little awkward at first right. You're just like like okay like how do you? How do you dance? Or how do you do this and I think the awkwardness was like just between us. And you know no one else kind of contributed to that. But what about you? Did you think any of the other girls kind of cute those literally when I walked and I saw the girls and guys like I made the right choice on. I'm still happy with it. I was like this is my gross. I WANNA stare at still like the most beautiful woman. So yeah did anyone ever say. Hey Mark Dude. I don't think she's into you me mark. I'm sorry no no no Mark Cuevas. Was anyone like come on. I don't think she got into you over there talking to Barnett. No it's so there's a. There's a lot of things that weren't seeing me. Mark Probably spoke the most dear in Mexico and parliaments me and homer like you know at it from a friendship perspective of like. Hey what's going on like let's talk and there was a lot of back with Marc was very very very and address but there were times I mean I thought it was just a lot to you know and she may seem like she wasn't like all like always in the mart but there were times for those connections. Were really strong in her. Mark had very good moments Behind the scenes on some scenes that I know about Were they were actually really happy together. So yeah they the possibility of helmet. Marling shouldn't like you that I couldn't say that because that wasn't true all the way you know what I mean. They're love we're just. We hung out with them. You know in the apartments and stuff and they were like like you know he'd come over and have a wine night with this. Yeah so there were really beautiful moments in. It's hard to tell somebody that when you do get mixed signals back and forth great one day and then maybe not so much. The next nets challenges of a new relationship daylight. You know what's going on in your relationship like you. We don't know we can only assume so. It's like you know what you're doing because you're the one in the relationship with this other person so you know you can't really tell someone to not follow their Heart Tan. Bring a time okay. So so then we get to the point of like you guys are deciding to go ahead with the wedding and I mean you guys are not to be rude but you guys are the super teams right like you guys like what happens with you guys is kind of what everyone is waiting to see on this show that day. Here's my real question. It is did someone say. Hey get those two chairs and PLOP them down. Sit our talking right now because it was the coolest moment in TV ever really. That was real. Was My other question that did you think you're gonNA get slapped when you walk in the room. And she's like stopping coming at you and I was like all Danish guests lot right in the face on. Tv is going to be amazing. I want to take insulin I can't blame her for feeling hurt and vulnerable and you know really putting herself out there in that moment and you know me in a sense taking that away from her but also knew we had felt and discussed throughout the experience. And as much as I wish I could take it away from her. That day. In a no woman should ever have to go through. I put her through in that moment but I still made the right choice still because we are stronger and healthier today because we weren't put into all the confinements of what marriage is move in together. We gotta have kids. You combine your finances. You have to split family vacations willing to each other for six weeks and I feel like I wanted us to be best friends. I yeah so I think we both did what we thought she knew. I was and I want to get married to our did but and thank you know. It all came down to our decisions on that day. I mean you hear me say I do not. I wanted to do so bad but I knew we needed more time to really bro and build with each other so if shoot a slap me today. I I think I would never mad. I would have taken it. Envisioned a respect those guy and congratulations on being engaged. But you know how much it takes to just kind of feel like. We need to talk about everything. Sure so. Yeah Yeah There's a lot of conversations like one of like you know. Like pooping is a congress. You got the same house together so so I totally get it okay. Well then it doesn't work out in that scenario right but then is leave. I didn't know this but everyone lives in Atlanta which I think is genius for how to create this reality. Tv also another great reason. We want to go on shows like it's not like the bachelor of their pull from everywhere. And you got to move and relocate so yeah so then you guys get you guys get back home after and you're able to reconnect and work it out right so I'm directional so after I.

"Ben and Ashley have their own show dedicated to that topic. No it's something else entirely. But it's a complete phenomenon right now. Everyone is talking about the one thing that everyone always asked me other than is the bachelor or the Bachelorette or Bachelor in paradise. Scripted is how the hell can you fall in love with someone and want to get engaged in a season of the Bachelorette which in fairness if you make it to. The end is two months and it's hard. It's a hard question to answer because it is a little ridiculous. Well there's a new show out there that is just saying two months. Screw that let's say I don't know three days and get engaged and then get married if you haven't seen love is blind on Netflix. You have a problem and you haven't been like looking at your phone because literally everyone is talking about it on the wells cast. Today we have Geneina and Damian. You saw their love story unfold. It was crazy it was hot. It was heavy. He got down on one niece. She got down on one knee and then they got into the real world. We're real problems exist and it was a little weird and then they go and get married and Weird stuff happens dresses. Get script Girls run out of the chapel and then was it last night that they had the the tell all. I don't know it was recently. We find out that they're back together. It's like Dean Caitlyn. Ceylan name is sorry Kayla you know I looked guys. It's a love story. Unlike any other coming up in the wells cast Janina and Damian. Couple you may have fell in love with and then they fell out of love with after the end of it and then maybe fell back in love with well after the reunion show. Speaking of GINA has a new podcast on the show. Love is blind called love and site and you can listen to it right now. Wherever the heck you get your podcasts whether that be I tunes or spotify or I dunno IHEART RADIO DOT COM coming up Geneina and Damian. You do.

"Hey everyone welcome to probably science medication still on the road still on the loose in different apartments and this is going to be a nuclear fusion episode we've never done one of those i'm here with dr damian king who is this right head of neutral beams i'm the head of the neutral beams at the joint european tourists so starting at the beginning what is science well scientists where you try and find something i you think of something and then you try it and see if what you thought was going to happen is actually what happened and then you change your mind based on what really happened that's actually a superb bouncer to a dumb question so let let let's talk a a nuclear fusion 'cause this is one of you welcome one of the main thing is to is to main nuclear fusion the the projects going on in the world right now the two main strands of of nuclear fusion each of which have their own large projects magnetic confinement fusion which i work john and inertial confinement fusion which is a very different type completely which is a large experiment on this in in america an experiment in in oxfordshire here is the largest magnetic confinement fusion experiment in the world at the minute so so let's actually start at the beginning of wood nuclear fusion what is it and how is it different from nuclear vision which is what the nuclear power plants that what we know that around the world us so nuclear fishing obviously it's been around for for absolutely a very long time for decades and is typically the the wa- walk power generation people think of with with nuclear power so every nuclear power station you think of nuclear fission power plant and that's good all the issues use the that people generally associate with nuclear power in terms of safety waste and when we share with it which is has cost sufficient works by taking a large particle it splitting splitting the atom into smaller parts thoughts and when a large political splits into smaller particles it releases more energy than it had initially and that's where you generate power from a a because of the the nature of nuclear forces electrostatic forces and all the things that hold atoms together you can also make energy by taking very very small atoms colliding them together in some way merging them and then having to smaller particles making one blodget particle and that release more energy than what you started with as well because that's fusion because if i remember rightly for my physics level two decades ago there's desert sort of optimum lowest energy ratio of atoms size to this that that's right so this stability see diagram as you go up in mass i'm waving my hands in one direction here if this imagine and aren't being moved from left to right the field as as you the increase in mass polical she started hydrogen and helium and and other things that are higher it it takes an the energy is you put these particles articles together real release energy as they get put together and as you get higher the stability because this is related to the amount of energy it takes to keep a particle together with a competitive splitting apart i said just like with just a physical machine for example the most the most stable position for it is the lowest energy that like all at at the bottom of a hill or a also on yes so the the more stable it is the happier is wary days and as you have when you get to iron so that's a mass in the fifty fifty something the that is the most stable atomic lou is something arrived the mass of iron and as you start to get heavier the non stop going the other way and that's where fishing comes in so if you start splitting things that are heavier than iron then you release energy as well and that's where you get into insufficient so the one thing that makes fusion especially different to to fishing is it's related to the stability it's hard to make it happen it's a lot harder to make it happen which is a good thing and a bad thing so with the fusion reaction you are inherently it's an inherently stables process you're not going to have a runaway process meltdown on an explosion these kinds of things right 'cause runaway in in in nuclear fishing it gets it starts to run away when the process releases like high energy neutrons zits which then in turn contribute other that's the chain reaction that people talk talk about chain-reaction exactly so as you a political splits into it releases a neutral and that neutralness absorbed by other particles which then release more of them and in a reactor you want to be doing that just enough so that you keep making more of it and make more energy but not so much it can can run away and you can get a growth of this and that's where that's where nuclear a nuclear bomb as well that's what happens in a in an unsafe situation where this some kind of meltdown nephew fusion because it's so hard to do you kind of get into that so if i'll sort of jump ahead haddon we can come back so if you had a loss of control in a fusion reaction all of the material that the comes into contact hat with the fusion fuel makes it cools down makes it harder to do more fusion and it just stops immediately okay and the reason for this so this is if i should go into outrace uson yeah so so few when you have to light particle so what i what we use as light particles is always hydrogen a form of hydrogen three clears this also happens in the sun and in the center of any stars well right that's right so so the the sun is a giant fusion reactor every star in the galaxy is a is a giant fusion reactor and for the sudden it's it's very easy process is to do because it's very very big we're trying to do essentially is take the process that's happening in the sun and and do it on earth can find a very small space on earth and then generate more power from it and the reason it's hard is if you try and take these these these particles and try and make them stick together that both positively charged so electrically they wanna repel two magnets that push each other apart part and if you wanna make them do their reaction you have to bring them close enough together that the nuclear force overwhelms the electrical force voice so there's different ways you can do this now the sun is very easy because it's so big so gravity just holds it altogether right so if there's an in in something like a star they so much gravity that all of these particles get pulled together and that overcomes this electrostatic repulsion that pushes the magnet support the particles apart the way that we make those particles come together we make the move very fast and by move very fast vast i mean we make them very very hot i don if this is something people will be familiar with generally but why yes drill down so so temperature how hot something is is a measure of how much the particles in that material move around so in a solid the particles doug move around very very much they stay very much where they are but they vibrate within a lattice they vibrate within the lattice yet you heat them up they move within this lattice of bit more and then they become a liquid they breakout with a a lattice such and they move around more freely and then gas them moving around more freely still so temperature is particle velocity it's the velocity the speed the particles in a moving in a material so if you make these fusion fuel move fast enough it will collide enough that you can break through this force the problem is that hot enough in this context is hundreds of millions of degrees and so you see this is where it starts to get hard when you start thinking oh well keeping something hundreds of millions of degrees is isn't something you can easily do and this is this is fun game that takes a lot of energy which is what you're trying trying to generate exactly so you need to you need to get more out of it than you can put in for it to be remotely useful to us as an energy source i mean and is very interested in is very academically interesting to do some fusion on in and of itself but from obviously from a we wanna wanna generate power which is the ultimate goal with fusion then you've gotta get something hundreds of millions degrees usually energy it takes to keep it and then get more than you put in which is why forty years later still trying to do this so they kind of a thing goes back if you look at the in the sixties i think it was they were they were very stories they were there was a very big breakthroughs in infusion fusion there and people thought in fifteen and twenty and thirty years something like this that we'd have fusion on the great and obviously we we don't have that yet so have you you got to the point where it a small scale like where where where are the developments it on a small scale have you developed like more energy than you put in or no the best we've done in terms of energy out to in was sixty seven percent which was the experiment i work on jet which is an all world record for this which was in one thousand nine hundred ninety seven was something like sixty seven percent of what we put in we got so we're still some way from it but on the other hand what what we are doing we do we do successfully do fusion reactions on a daily basis basis so we run our experiment five days a week some duck two shifts a day five days a week sometimes six days a week kippur behind and every twenty minutes we run a pulse and this gives us an fusion happens all the time in the problem is we can't quite it do enough fusion to to get what we put in one of the reasons for this is that when it comes to fusion size matters and size is very important when you're talking about something like this okay if you think about it like a cup of water can keep heat much much worse a bucket award a big bucket of water can keep more heat in it than a cup of water can brighten it will cool more quickly and for something like this supplies means the bigger it is the more you can the more you can keep more heat in for longer okay so let's the head start talking about some numbers this number's in front of you as well yeah some ridiculous so i love this little calculation go away from turkey gave recently yeah so part of our challenge of course is we've we've got to generate enough energy for the world not just now because we use a lot of energy but we need even more energy as things go forward now this fears takes some of these numbers are going to be even bigger now but i haven't updated them so the will the whatever year i took this from probably something like two thousand fourteen uses five hundred and fifty exit jewels use a year so that's millions million gills jill is the unit we consider energy it probably doesn't mean too much to most people people but one donut has one ring doughnut use a jammed owner chocolate though it's probably different but dona china has two hundred twenty calories in it which is equivalent to nine hundred twenty kilojoules so if you wanted to.

happened that's actually a superb bouncer to a dumb question so let let let's talk a a nuclear fusion 'cause this is one of you welcome one of the main thing is to is to main nuclear fusion the the projects going on in the world right now the two main strands of of nuclear fusion each of which have their own large projects magnetic confinement fusion which i work john and inertial confinement fusion which is a very different type completely which is a large experiment on this in in america an experiment in in oxfordshire here is the largest magnetic confinement fusion experiment in the world at the minute so so let's actually start at the beginning of wood nuclear fusion what is it and how is it different from nuclear vision which is what the nuclear power plants that what we know that around the world us so nuclear fishing obviously it's been around for for absolutely a very long time for decades and is typically the the wa- walk power generation people think of with with nuclear power so every nuclear power station you think of nuclear fission power plant and that's good all the issues use the that people generally associate with nuclear power in terms of safety waste and when we share with it which is has cost sufficient works by taking a large particle it splitting splitting the atom into smaller parts thoughts and when a large political splits into smaller particles it releases more energy than it had initially and that's where you generate power from a a because of the the nature of nuclear forces electrostatic forces and all the things that hold atoms together you can also make energy by taking very very small atoms colliding them together in some way merging them and then having to smaller particles making one blodget particle and that release more energy than what you started with as well because that's fusion because if i remember rightly for my physics level two decades ago there's desert sort of optimum lowest energy ratio of atoms size to this that that's right so this stability see diagram as you go up in mass i'm waving my hands in one direction here if this imagine and aren't being moved from left to right the field as as you the increase in mass polical she started hydrogen and helium and and other things that are higher it it takes an the energy is you put these particles articles together real release energy as they get put together and as you get higher the stability because this is related to the amount of energy it takes to keep a particle together with a competitive splitting apart i said just like with just a physical machine for example the most the most stable position for it is the lowest energy that like all at at the bottom of a hill or a also on yes so the the more stable it is the happier is wary days and as you have when you get to iron so that's a mass in the fifty fifty something the that is the most stable atomic lou is something arrived the mass of iron and as you start to get heavier the non stop going the other way and that's where fishing comes in so if you start splitting things that are heavier than iron then you release energy as well and that's where you get into insufficient so the one thing that makes fusion especially different to to fishing is it's related to the stability it's hard to make it happen it's a lot harder to make it happen which is a good thing and a bad thing so with the fusion reaction you are inherently it's an inherently stables process you're not going to have a runaway process meltdown on an explosion these kinds of things right 'cause runaway in in in nuclear fishing it gets it starts to run away when the process releases like high energy neutrons zits which then in turn contribute other that's the chain reaction that people talk talk about chain-reaction exactly so as you a political splits into it releases a neutral and that neutralness absorbed by other particles which then release more of them and in a reactor you want to be doing that just enough so that you keep making more of it and make more energy but not so much it can can run away and you can get a growth of this and that's where that's where nuclear a nuclear bomb as well that's what happens in a in an unsafe situation where this some kind of meltdown nephew fusion because it's so hard to do you kind of get into that so if i'll sort of jump ahead haddon we can come back so if you had a loss of control in a fusion reaction all of the material that the comes into contact hat with the fusion fuel makes it cools down makes it harder to do more fusion and it just stops immediately okay and the reason for this so this is if i should go into outrace uson yeah so so few when you have to light particle so what i what we use as light particles is always hydrogen a form of hydrogen three clears this also happens in the sun and in the center of any stars well right that's right so so the the sun is a giant fusion reactor every star in the galaxy is a is a giant fusion reactor and for the sudden it's it's very easy process is to do because it's very very big we're trying to do essentially is take the process that's happening in the sun and and do it on earth can find a very small space on earth and then generate more power from it and the reason it's hard is if you try and take these these these particles and try and make them stick together that both positively charged so electrically they wanna repel two magnets that push each other apart part and if you wanna make them do their reaction you have to bring them close enough together that the nuclear force overwhelms the electrical force voice so there's different ways you can do this now the sun is very easy because it's so big so gravity just holds it altogether right so if there's an in in something like a star they so much gravity that all of these particles get pulled together and that overcomes this electrostatic repulsion that pushes the magnet support the particles apart the way that we make those particles come together we make the move very fast and by move very fast vast i mean we make them very very hot i don if this is something people will be familiar with generally but why yes drill down so so temperature how hot something is is a measure of how much the particles in that material move around so in a solid the particles doug move around very very much they stay very much where they are but they vibrate within a lattice they vibrate within the lattice yet you heat them up they move within this lattice of bit more and then they become a liquid they breakout with a a lattice such and they move around more freely and then gas them moving around more freely still so temperature is particle velocity it's the velocity the speed the particles in a moving in a material so if you make these fusion fuel move fast enough it will collide enough that you can break through this force the problem is that hot enough in this context is hundreds of millions of degrees and so you see this is where it starts to get hard when you start thinking oh well keeping something hundreds of millions of degrees is isn't something you can easily do and this is this is fun game that takes a lot of energy which is what you're trying trying to generate exactly so you need to you need to get more out of it than you can put in for it to be remotely useful to us as an energy source i mean and is very interested in is very academically interesting to do some fusion on in and of itself but from obviously from a we wanna wanna generate power which is the ultimate goal with fusion then you've gotta get something hundreds of millions degrees usually energy it takes to keep it and then get more than you put in which is why forty years later still trying to do this so they kind of a thing goes back if you look at the in the sixties i think it was they were they were very stories they were there was a very big breakthroughs in infusion fusion there and people thought in fifteen and twenty and thirty years something like this that we'd have fusion on the great and obviously we we don't have that yet so have you you got to the point where it a small scale like where where where are the developments it on a small scale have you developed like more energy than you put in or no the best we've done in terms of energy out to in was sixty seven percent which was the experiment i work on jet which is an all world record for this which was in one thousand nine hundred ninety seven was something like sixty seven percent of what we put in we got so we're still some way from it but on the other hand what what we are doing we do we do successfully do fusion reactions on a daily basis basis so we run our experiment five days a week some duck two shifts a day five days a week sometimes six days a week kippur behind and every twenty minutes we run a pulse and this gives us an fusion happens all the time in the problem is we can't quite it do enough fusion to to get what we put in one of the reasons for this is that when it comes to fusion size matters and size is very important when you're talking about something like this okay if you think about it like a cup of water can keep heat much much worse a bucket award a big bucket of water can keep more heat in it than a cup of water can brighten it will cool more quickly and for something like this supplies means the bigger it is the more you can the more you can keep more heat in for longer okay so let's the head start talking about some numbers this number's in front of you as well yeah some ridiculous so i love this little calculation go away from turkey gave recently yeah so part of our challenge of course is we've we've got to generate enough energy for the world not just now because we use a lot of energy but we need even more energy as things go forward now this fears takes some of these numbers are going to be even bigger now but i haven't updated them so the will the whatever year i took this from probably something like two thousand fourteen uses five hundred and fifty exit jewels use a year so that's millions million gills jill is the unit we consider energy it probably doesn't mean too much to most people people but one donut has one ring doughnut use a jammed owner chocolate though it's probably different but dona china has two hundred twenty calories in it which is equivalent to nine hundred twenty kilojoules so if you wanted to.

"Is our guest Damian Lewis on the series, billions speaking there with John Malkovich would appeal to you about this role. When I came over to talk to the guys about whether we'd move forward with this. And by the guys, I mean, Brian Copeland and David LeVine and wanted to know what that worldview was as it seemed clear to me that, that is the direction the show, would go in and what we have at the outset is, we have a mythic context of sheriff Akao boy sheriff them, gunslinger, the sheriff is played in, in this case by pull Giamatti, the, the US attorney, and I play the gunslinger, who is hedge fund manager here in New York, and what they guys wanted to explore was the way in which the politically and financially powerful here. Live and parades and the different moral code by which they seem to live by, and what became clear was that this was going to be a world. And what has become clear that three or four years as well? Absolute power corrupts. Absolutely. And even the good guys do bad things. The bad guys will occasionally do good things. Loyalty is paramount. So it's a world of ego and power, and Bobi Axelrod was set up as a guy who was in some ways the embodiment of the American dream, a blue-collar alley cat scrapper with a mid ranging university education. They make a big deal of the fact that he was at Hofstra. He is not an Ivy league guy, and he has become a billionaire. I read that Andrew Ross Sorkin the New York Times financial writer who was also, I guess, a co producer co creator introduced you to some head funds executives, what did you learn from some of those meetings, they would be too simplistic just to lump them all into one group? They were very different characters some with an explicit vanity in, you know, the, the cost of their haircut to the suits, they wore to the winter jackets. They had and the offices with priceless works of art on the walls. But I found with every single one of them the probably the one thing I could say is they were all incredibly focused listeners, and we're all keen to impress on me that. This was not a Wall Street environment anymore. This was not a Gordon gecko environment anymore. It wasn't doggy dog. It was much more a risk intolerant. Analytical scientific will wear risk was removed from the equation before a bat is made before an investment is made. It's not that they're ripping people's throats out. It's that they're smarter and more analytical than everybody else before they rip someone's right? Any mannerisms or personality traits that you kind of integrated into Bobby axl rose cared fried and David had written something of a something of a rockstar something, a guy with swagger, and confidence. I wanted to give him a sense of the street. So nothing to refined. He is a guy who's committed to wearing you know thousand dollar sneakers. And jeans, and cashmere hoodies. That's his thing rather than an expensive talion suit. And so I, I wanted to find a prow in him something predatory in him and ever since he's trained as an actor, I've always enjoyed. Using animals finding that sort of anthropomorphic quality between human beings and animals, and I sort of found a cheetah quality in him that I have used, you know, from the get-go right when you were filming the first season, it was probably during the twenty sixteen election. And I'm wondering how, you know, Trump and the Trump administration have influenced your thinking, or the plotlines as this has developed. Well, it was fascinating having president in the White House who tore up the political, and diplomatic rulebook and said the what, what what's king here is the transaction is the deal, and I will go, and I will make deals for America Bobi acts road is entirely. Transactional, human being this is not unlike the current president. So it's been a happy thing fuss that he's been there with Louis because it does make us show. Even more, I think, contemporary more current even more explicitly a commentary on contemporary Marica that might seem pessimstic because the show is as quite a bleak worldview, but these things go on so. You didn't grow up in a background like Bobby Axelrod. But you didn't come from humble origins. Tell us a little bit about your family and your schooling. No, I'm a privately educated Brit. I couldn't have come from further away world than, than Bobby. I guess, grew up on the road actually, then any fan of the Beatles will know what where that is in north London. I went to boarding schools from an early age navy bait and. Came out of out of out of school age of eighteen and new by that stage. I wanted to be an actor. And when about trying to do that. Did it ever occur you that you had a particularly interesting face? I well, there was a very brutal exercise that we were asked to do at drama school. We spent one semester, one of our classes was on makeup. And they give you a piece of paper with a blank oval shape on it, which is your head and you had to stare at yourself in the mirror for an entire semester and drool on this blank oval your face with all its imperfections, so you knew every imperfection on your face, and there is nothing that is straight or symmetrical own Mansingh on my face. I can tell you that. So I it's it it's, it's kind of depressing excise when you do it, but it's also incredibly useful when you're trying to when you're making yourself in that there, too. But no, I never thought I had an interesting face. In fact, the opposite. I probably worried that I was I didn't have the right kind of face the point of the exercise was to be aware of what you could do with your face on onstage. Really, it was a makeup exercise. If you've got a bent knows, and you want it straightened, you know, you know, how to shade and highlight in order to do that, if you if you want to essentially exaggerate, an profession like one of your ears as higher than the other one, I is smaller than the other all of which is true of me. If your mouse doesn't sit directly under your nose, which is also true of me. You know, and you might you might be playing a character, you might think that's useful. So let's exaggerate that lets us make up to stick your mouth even further out of the way from under your nose, or exaggerate, you'll broken nose which I have from playing cricket. When I was eleven years old, that kind of stuff I want to talk about homeland, which was a big deal Showtime series that you were in for three seasons. Your character is this marine who served overseas was captured and held and tortured for years, and it's a wild plot you end up becoming involved with American politics and intelligence. We learned that your character actually is a Muslim is involved with terrorist groups. There's a lot going on with this character. How did you prepare for this role? I sort of looked at three separate strands of it, what it was like to be a marine, and I had some experience of soldiering through band of brothers, but I research being marine, I spoke to a couple of marines. I also looked at PTSD and I went to a unit facility in England and spoke to them about the effects of post traumatic stress disorder. And I read the Koran and I, I went to the central London mosque which is not far from where I live and they welcomed me in there. And in fact, when I was in North Carolina. I also spent some time in the mosque as very small mosque there, run by a nice cleric, the a motive, who I think was from Lebanon, actually and about ten thousand rooms in Charlotte, North Carolina. And so I, I spent a bit of time then just. Just absorbing the culture and read the Koran and that was it. Really, that's how I prepared for. It's interesting because the series, you know, I was at times, drew criticism for demonizing Muslims in other times being too kind to L Qaeda did any of that criticism. Affects what you did on the set or I guess a lot of it came long after you'd finish the episodes. Right. Well, certainly in the first three seasons when I was there. I was approached often by Muslims in the street who would thank me for a sensitive portrayal of being Muslim of what shipping in the faith? And I think that's because whenever nNcholas Brody old though, there were clear associations between having. Having dumped it the Muslim faith and wanting to people up. Whenever he was alone and praying, I think people felt it was a sensitivity and an oath, anticipate to that. And they, they thanked me for that one more thing about homeland I read that President Obama, I think he was doing a state dinner for David Cameron, and he invited you and your wife actress Helen quarry to attend. And you sat at the table with him is true. This is true. We were we were fully expecting to walk into the, this market for four hundred people on the south lawn at the White House and to be sat next to the rest rooms and we were shown to this table, which seemed to be very close to the stage where band was going to perform later, and then the president won't in with our prime minister and woke straight while table and sat opposite us and we were amazed and I had Warren buffet on my left. I had an. Afghanistan vet on my right? Who had won the medal of honor for an act of extreme bravery, that I wish we had long enough for me to go into don't you about now? But he had a biotic arm and you give the president of gift, I've read, right? Well, yes. This. This was one of my more irreverend moments I. I'm slightly blessing to now to remember that. I did it. But the Teamsters for the Democrats came to visit us down in Charlotte and said, would you we've got a bunk set for the president, would you like to sign a message to him? And I'm a huge fan was of President Obama and was, of course, very aware of the accusations. One of them some of the made by president occuren- president about his birth. Right. Is his nationality. And so I wrote ironically from one Muslim to another and your great van Damien Lewis and sent this off. To the White House. And then had a panic a few weeks later that I got just hope he has a sense of irony and knows that this is a joke, and why the jokes been made in. So, and I become friends with Jay, who was his who was the press officer at the White House at the time. And I said to emails at J, please, tell me that my joke was understood. And he sent me an Email back the next day rish or he said, the president told it was very funny. And says, thank you. And so I felt relieved that was a moment when. I felt my genus. Head maybe crossed the line. But I but I got away with it. You know, there's so many British actors that do terrific American accidents. Like, I think of Dominic west, who was in the wire. I think you were schoolmate, right. Domes have very good pal. And I would have Americans tried to British accents, do the British actors kind of laugh at them behind their backs. I want to debunk this myth part of America's imperialism of the last century has been cultural imperialism, and we'll grew up watching endless American shows, you know, I grew up, what ching that man. And then all those amazing TV show sin from the early eighties chips, and dukes of hazzard hunter works for me, and all those shows, and a lot of us English act, his do manage to come up with a pretty good American accent. But I've had some English actress the don't and I've also I've..
