"Decide what that is, put the appropriate talent and scheme around him because they don't have enough talent around him right now and the scheme does not fit him. So for any chance for you to salvage this, that is the question you have to answer for me going forward. Who is Russell Wilson at now at age 34? What scheme does he need? Who does he need to round him to give you a chance of success? Would this have looked different if they would have went with Kevin O'Connell? Because a lot of people think the Vikings, even with the win last night, still think the Vikings are frauds. They think that they've liked the Giants have been carried around a horseshoe in their pocket all season, gotten lucky. In all these one score games and they're going to get exposed, come play off time. But if he was the other candidate and it came down to Peyton having the choice between O'Connell and Hackett. Now I'm not saying he did, but if that was the case, a little bit of irony there that his old team gets the guy who's on a roll and may end up with the one seat in the NFC and the old employee there gets this dumpster fire. Well, and O'Connell, he didn't have the energy of Hackett. And he hadn't called plays like Hackett. He wasn't Sean mcvay was the primary play caller. But when I watch O'Connell's teams, they're more organized. And they just have more of an identity to them, where they're able to now, they have more talent, Justin Jefferson. Dalvin cook, and Dalvin cook, apologies to Bronco fan. They're better than DJ hawkinson. Leland is regressed some, but you're telling me the Broncos can match up with Jefferson Thielen and hawkinson in what world. And Dalvin cook is better than javonte Williams, maybe they wouldn't have panned out that way of javonte state healthy all year, but that's my point when you look at the Broncos, could O'Connell have fixed that? I think they would have looked more organized and been less penalized. I do be personally. That has been the struggle with Hackett is you don't play anyone in the preseason because you figured it out thinking he had this team. I really believe in hindsight. He thought he had a much better team than he had so they didn't need the preseason, so he's prioritizing health. We're healthy. We're a playoff team. Well, they clearly needed reps in the preseason.

"What does that look like? So it's seeing the game the same way. And so as a right tackle, in this case, because it's easier for me to put in those terms. Yes. I'm working with your terms. I'm working with the right guard the most often. And so if there's a play that the right card is supposed to be working with the center, and I'm supposed to be blocking the defensive end on my own, all of a sudden, a linebacker or safety walks down, maybe it's right at the snap, and maybe we're in Pittsburgh or maybe we're in obviously on an LAD silent count. But maybe we're somewhere, we can't communicate it. You don't have enough time, you both want to be seeing that at the same time and understanding, okay, we're going to react the same way. The safety is going to blitz off the edge. The defensive end is going to go inside. So as a right tackle, if I'm assuming, hey, my guard sees it the same way. I can just go block the safety. He'll have the defensive end. But the guard's not seeing it that way, and he hangs on his block with the center, and that's where there's trouble. Now the defensive end splits us, and now we look really awful, because it looks like we don't know what we're doing. And that's just not seeing the game the same way. That's not reacting the same way. So how does one see the game the same way? How do you do that? I mean, you're all individuals, you know? I guess we're getting to the nitty Gritty of line play here, but that is what we're talking about. So many teens, the cowboys as well, tyron Smith out Tyler Smith in. And then in the middle of the game, one of their linemen goes out just like Brian Allen with the rams and how do you get this handled as the season begins to potentially slip away, you know? It's practice time and that's where a lot of the former players are saying offensive line play is slipping because of reduced practice time because you don't have those opportunities to see more blitzes and practice more interesting scenarios and practice. And so now that the season has started, everyone is basically practicing the same amount. It's really critical that you're talking to each other and even if it's a play that you mess up on scout team and the coaches are really frustrated with you. But maybe in the huddle like, hey, I thought you were supposed to be here and now three plays later, you're still in the same huddle and it happens again and you fix it immediately. You don't need to go to the sidelines. You don't need to walk through it. You don't need to rep it physically, but that constant communication where you guys are trying to talk it through. And then there's also an element of maybe watching film together, hey, what are you looking at on this one? What am I looking at? Because as we've gone into the iPads and the surface tablets and being able to watch film wherever we want, whenever we want, offensive lines, we used to stay at the facility and watch film together after practice on Wednesday, Thursday whenever else. Well, now guys go home and they watch on their own time. And so you're not seeing things as collaboratively as you used to. And that's where the older guy in the group needs to really take the onus upon himself and say, hey, you know, we're going to stay after for 30 minutes. We're going to watch blitz together. Let's just talk things through. Let's make sure we're on the same page. So it's doing things together. It's talking through and hopefully you've got a good offense line coach, you can facilitate a few more minutes left here with Mitchell Schwartz champion offensive lineman recent retiree from the Kansas City Chiefs here on the rich eisen show. I have a couple of favors to ask of you. First one is I chose because I liked devonte Adams edition and Chandler Jones edition, and I just thought, you know, 6 years in a row for the chiefs, you know, I'm gonna zig while everyone zagging or what have you. I chose the Raiders to win the division. And Eric Stonestreet is livid with me. He'll start still send me some heart emojis and stuff like that. But I think deep down he is hurt. And upset with me, can you let him know that everything's fine or just either just be a go between? Because I'm assuming you're still in constant contact with him. Yeah, I can be your enemy intermediary. Maybe send some brisket or something. He doesn't need me to do that. But that would be helpful. I think so. Is he still texting you in the middle of the night about brisket and stuff like that? Does he still do that? About chiefs, obviously. Did you bring any brisket Mitch by chance? I didn't bring any brisket. He's in town for wedding. Assuming it traveled well, it probably wouldn't have made it to the studio.

"Outside of the obvious statistic result? Yeah, it's more just validation for the idea that it's co read and it's Patrick Mahomes and they're still going to drive the ball down the field. They signed a scaling who's a speed guy and they still have Nicole Hardman so they've got elite top end speed, maybe not the single fastest guy in the NFL. But two of maybe the top three, four, 5 receivers in terms of speed. So they're still going to stretch the field vertically. And I think it was a little bit foolish for people to just assume like, oh, they can't throw deep anymore, so they're going to go back to the year that no wide receivers kind of touched out when Alex was the quarterback and when the receiver talent wasn't what it was. It's like that offense isn't coming back. The offense is still built for speed for downfield threats. The RPO game kind of opens the field of horizontally in the run game and the speed of the receiving group opens it up vertically in the passing game. And I don't think he's ever going to go back on having guys that are able to create in both of those ways. So give me a moment where you're like, okay, read and be enemy in the rest of this offensive staff. Just thinks differently. You got a moment, whether it was an install, a meeting, a film session, anything like that, Mitchell. There's plenty of them. To me, the coolest thing from my perspective because as an offensive lineman, you don't always get to be in the meetings where they're talking on the quarterback. So they're explaining, and this is why we're doing it, or we see this one specific tell from the safety. So we're going to design the play this way. Mondays are off days, Tuesdays, we were on, we watched the film from the previous week, and then there's about a ten minute period where they get us together, kind of give us some concepts for the upcoming week that they're still mulling over. They're thinking about. And coach reader just pull guys, hey, you line up here. You line up there and he would just kind of, you could see the gears working and like, I want you to go 7 steps, stop there. And then I want you to go over here and he's kind of walking through the play as it's happening. And it's really the only time from my perspective I can see kind of that genius at work and seeing him, he's written it out. He understands the spacing, but like getting on the field and seeing where the guys aren't seeing how it really works. That was one of the cooler things. And all those meetings, I mean, coach Benny made, he watches every single game a few times. I was going to say a million times. That's obviously not feasible, but you can go up to him and especially from the offense line perspective. Hey, I'm seeing this blitz. Like, what do you think we should do? And he knows exactly the bless exactly the game situation. He's got an answer for it. So there are just extremely well prepared and things can change week to week because if you're kind of static and what you do, it might not work for that specific team, that's supposed to blitz pattern tonight, Brandon staley is going to run some crazy stuff that they might not have seen before. That's pretty intricate. But the cheese are going to be as prepared as possible against that. So he's drawn the play up in his mind, and then on a piece of paper, and then he walks out and he walks everyone through it. 7 steps stop here. You go here, you go there. And so then he validates what he's done. He's just saying this place is going to work. I got it. And you now need to get it. Again, I'm just wondering. So I think it's more their coordinators who create and their coordinators who have been part of a system and kind of understand, oh, it's cover three. So I know this place supposed to work. And it's cover four. So this is the play we're supposed to run. Right. But I think coach understands defenses so well that he can manipulate them to what he wants and to the way they're playing it. So he's creating those plays for that week. It's not just, oh, well, I learned this from Mike holmgren who learned it from Bill Washington and worked in the 80s, so it should work now. It's more the style of defense they're running if I run this guy here and I drag that guy. It might open up this void for me, but I have to make sure that the depths are correct. I have to make sure that the spacing is okay and with the quarterback seeing kind of aligns together. So that is the on the field validation of the spacing. I think for him, just one of those parts in the process. And of course, two or three plays is not a ton of them, but it is kind of the designer plays of the week. Mitchell Schwartz here on the rich eisen show and all you put your paparazzi hat on, you work for the 33rd team, right? You do stuff for them. You do stuff locally. Here in Los Angeles, the rams offensive line had a rough opener. The Bengals newly revamped offensive line a rough opener. What can you tell those fan bases about how offensive lines can improve throughout the year? Certainly when preseason action usually doesn't occur anymore and you just got thrown out there. What do you see from either or both of those situations and what can you tell us about this? There's a schematic help that the coaches could now start integrating our guys need more help than I expected. I can formation things. I could squeeze the tight ends in, make the defensive ends, feel uncomfortable. I can run some more play action some more dependable protections, but the other thing is if you go back and look last year, week one builds against steelers, the Steelers gone after the bills offensive line. It was really rough and Josh Allen had a really bad game and we were all wondering like, oh, was that contract worth it? Is he not the same guy? And obviously the bills had a pretty awesome year last year. So week one can show you some things, but it doesn't necessarily mean the sky is falling. There's still a ton of room for improvement. And it's just the first of the stepping stones. It's probably a little bit more optimistic for Bengals fans knowing that theoretically you upgraded in personnel and the rams, theoretically downgraded and personnel. And so the Bengals can say like, okay, these guys just need time to gel or for the rams. It's like, well, it looks like we're missing Whitworth. It looks like we're missing a couple other guys on the inside. But again, if that means the McVeigh can run all the drop back passes he wants and he can't do all the empty protection. Maybe he just goes back to running the ball on the play action that's worked every other year. So he's got something to fall back on. We're ram fans should feel pretty good. What is gelling? Walk me through. What is gelling look like for an offensive line? Mitchell Schwartz, what does that look like? So it's seeing the game the same way. And so as a right tackle, in this case, because it's easier for me to put in those terms. Yes.

"I like that to be honest. You smack talk right out of the gate. Does that Kyle or Richard Petty right there? What style of petty that's Richard? That's Tom. That's Tom. Richard the king petty was terrible. May I see that, would you mind? Yeah, of course. You remove it off your index finger? Are you gonna be able to hold that up, rich? Jeez. You can do curls with it. That's why I'm like, man. It's like your index finger. Is that where it fits? It was originally sized for the ring finger. It's slightly big for that. I also have weird webbing. So it fits better on that one. Weird webbing. So what do I have that on my thumb? Yeah, I could keep twirling it around. This is beautiful. Hold on a minute. I should have my sunglasses. But I don't have them here. That's beautiful. I think we did a pretty good job with it. I was definitely not part of that process. And I tried not to listen into little tidbits of what guys were hearing about it. The only thing I knew is that it was going to be two tone in color. Yes. And that scared me a little bit because why? Two tone can go awry depending on the piece of jewelry, but look at you. The second thought I had no idea you were such a jeweler. Oh, yeah. Okay. So we open up those boxes though. It was pretty special. And obviously they did as good of a job as I could have ever hoped kingdom. There they are world champions except Schwartz on the side, it's from 69 to 19. There you go, gives your number 71 be great. It says right there. And then looking for the inside, it's the results that led all the way up to the Super Bowl. And it's got the deficits that we came back from in each of those three games because that was the big storyline. Oh, that's the number. That's the number in the parentheses underneath each one. That was the year you were down big to Houston. 24 is the number there. 24. 11, maybe something like that. And then Bill O'Brien went for what the fake, right? What are you doing? This is the orange and the tackle. And then just kind of got that ball rolling. Yeah, 'cause here you go, you may take it back to you. It's your ring. Use it as you see fit. Yeah, man. I just remember people in the pass it around the room. I mean, when that offense got rolling, it was just impossible to stop. Tyreek hill said that Patrick Mahomes was trash in his first practice. How would you. Just need it to be thin? Was he really that bad in his first practice with the chiefs? I don't think he would have been that bad, but there is an element of coming from the offense he came from in college and learning a coach read offense with the verbiage with the formations with the chefs and on the motions and all that stuff. And it did take him a while to get acclimated to that. I remember I got to play with him that week 17 game. His first year is his only Denver in Denver because you had already made the playoffs and Alex Smith you make sure he's going to be healthy for a playoff run some homes wet his beak a little bit in a little AFC west action. I remember being very impressed because you watch him in preseason that was really the last time you see him in kind of that game action and his ability to make all the calls kind of run the hud efficiently. The thing I always kind of pull back to is we went to Denver in week 17. Now they were out of the playoffs too, but still it's a pretty big divisional rivalry in the fans are going crazy. It's cold. We had no procedural penalties. And think about even this Monday night, Russell Wilson going back into Seattle. Think of how late they were snapping the ball, the timeouts they had to run. Delay a game, things of that nature. We had none of those in his first start. And so by the time he was ready to go, he was ready to go. Everything was smooth. It ran efficiently. I don't remember that first practice I was probably too busy. In my own thing off to the side and we know how to catch the ball from the guy tend to remember too much about it, but early on it was those splash plays and we all obviously got really excited about it and me being a little bit of a pessimist. It was more. All right, I mean, this is cool, but there's no repercussions. It doesn't matter if you throw a pick, it doesn't matter if you do these crazy things. Let's see it in the game. And then he got to the preseason and he was doing the game, and then obviously we know the rest of the history. Yeah, 'cause, you know, to go from Smith to mahomes, I remember, we talked to Kelsey, right? Did we talk to Travis Kelce at the Super Bowl in Minnesota when Alex Smith got traded and I remember him sitting there going, you know, Alex is my guy, obviously we got a new guy, but Alex is my guy and was there a moment about turning things over to the young guy where there was a question of what was going on. No, because it happened pretty peacefully. It's not like this kind of forty-niners transition. Patagon drafted. It was very clear, Alex was a starter. That was the backup. We ran the whole year that way. I mean, we had a really good season. I think Alex led the NFL in de passing that year. I think his motto was just like screw it. Let's go for it and he started throwing the ball deep and he was the number one downfield passer. Obviously can't do all the stuff pad does and then he gets traded and patches the starter. So they're pretty peaceful transition of power and pat is very much natural leader kind of took that roll on. It wasn't like, oh, I don't really know what my role is. Should I call the team up? Should I not say anything? It just happened very efficiently. And I don't know if that's having the sports background with his dad, you know, being around locker rooms and athletes and just understanding the flow of it. But a natural leader and he just took the reins and ran with it. Mitchell Schwartz here on the rich eisen show wearing his Super Bowl ring from the 2019 season right here on the night where week two kicks off between mahomes and the chiefs and also Herbert and the Chargers, the concepts that you're seeing offensively through week one. What did you see in week one that you're like, okay, everybody who is saying Tyreke is gone and we're all screwed here that you're like, okay, we're fine. What did you see outside of the obvious statistic result? Yeah, it's more just validation for the idea that it's co read and it's Patrick Mahomes and they're still going to

I haven't talked to him about the forty-niners. But you sound like you've been talking to kids. He's the future of the NFL. I just think the niners have a good roster, their defense is good, their defensive line. They went to the NFC championship last year. I think they're good. I think Trey Lance provides him huge upside. He may struggle in the beginning of the season. You see him play? Yeah, one time.

Saturday afternoon, what do you got? Win. Home for the colts on New Year's Day. Lost at the eagles to wrap things up. Lost. Wow, you got them sweeping to the eagles. Okay, so you go, one, two, three, four, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, when you got them 9 and 8. Paul verse, that's a very, I think, you know, pie in the sky. So how many think I'm off? Gun to your head. Look, man, I love Gable. I love him. Yeah. I think he's terrific. I need to see their offensive line before I believe it. That's it, because they just spent stinking on ice on that front, and they can't protect the thing. I know. The saquon gets hurt and but if let's just say staying healthy, I'd love Tony. I love Tony. Tony exciting kids. If he's right, okay, and gallaudet, I mean, right? I mean, there's so many things. And I really like. I really like him and the defense comes along. You might surprise some people. But, you know, you can't go from as terrible as they've been to suddenly 9 and 8 when we think you can, but maybe the well, but I think that I watched saquon closely and saquon to me looked like he was afraid to make cuts. He looked like he was afraid to do what he did when he first got to the league. And I think now he's removed from that and I think he's mentally away from that. And I like this pivotal kid and I like that Strahan. I like that Strahan is, oh my God, Michael Strahan came to the comedy club. Do you have to have time to tell you just this? Sure, yeah. So I'm on stage in New York City at the stand as stray has right next to the stage. He's right next to me, and I'm telling jokes. And I hear him laughing, and I'm like, oh my God, like I don't get starstruck by movies or for me, it's athlete. Athletes so I'm just going to Michael strand's laughing at me right now. This is amazing. So we go outside afterwards and somebody goes, hey man, nobody asks Michael for anything. He's just, he wants to enjoy himself, and he had a friend in there, just no pictures, nothing. So I'm like, all right, you know, it's fine. So my straight hand comes out and he sees me. Oh man, so funny. So now I'm like, oh, this is the best. And he was and I said, oh, do you mind if I have a big giant fan, take a picture? And I said the dumbest thing to him. As we take the picture, my arm is around his back. As we take the picture as a grown man, I just, I don't know what came over me. I go, oh, 7 changed my life. What? Why have children? I am a grown man with children. And it was like, and it was right, it was right as the picture was being taken and I almost whispered it. It was the weirdest, and he was probably like, all right, dude, that was take care. And if I ever see him again, I'm gonna be like, no, it didn't change my life. You know, it was a good, it made me feel good. But you can't say that to a guy like that. Now you're creeping me out. And we'll send this to stray, stray. We'll see this. We'll straighten this out. Yeah. Don't you worry. Next time you see string and they will not be a restraining order, you will die. You will be able to get more than a hundred yards of Michael Strahan. Don't worry about it pulver.

Well, you know why? Is it the game, the Giants are going? I called my agent and I said, buddy, I said, my New York football giants are playing. I said, I'm taking Stacy and the kids. Let's get a date. And he said, all right, well, I'll you're going to perform it in Soho. And on Friday, and then you're going to go to the game on Sunday. Yeah, that's what I'm sure. I'm going to ask you to walk us through the schedule and we're going to figure it out. We lost win loss. All right, with the comedian Paul verse and you can check out nocturnal admissions right now on Netflix as comedy special premiered late in June. The Giants premiere first Sunday of the season at the Tennessee Titans winter lost, Paul verse, winter loss. The Giants go win that game by three. Look at that. You can even give me a score. Home for the Carolina Panthers week two. Disappointing loss. Wow. Okay. By the way, I love the adjectives, disappointing loss. All right. Home for the cowboys Monday Night Football week three.

"And it's interesting, Paul verse here on the rich eyes and shows. What you said just moments ago about you would call up Bill Burr and you'd say to Bill. And again, you guys do the anything better podcast together. And so that you would call Bill up before the season. And it looked like another patriot year because it was Brady and Belichick and the Patriots for the Patriots. They were the Patriots. And he's like, yeah, I don't like the defense. I don't like the defense. And you're like sitting there. What are you talking about? And the interesting thing is right there. It proves my point that Boston fans are not happy unless they're unhappy, and then when they say that, I don't believe in the defense, there's got a problem. And then suddenly they rip off ten wins in a row. And then suddenly it's like, nobody over believe this. Keep it running. And then Brady will go out there and the parade going to win the Super Bowl that we all know he was going to go in and say, nobody believes in us. Let's rally around that nobody believes in his flag. And it's just like all those people are like, yeah, Tommy, and it's just like every last one of you were bitching about the defense 12 weeks ago. You want to know what it is, rich? That's what it is. Yeah, it's a defense mechanism that they have because they're scared. They're scared. And deep down inside, it's like a child who doesn't want to be hurt. So that's what they do. And then when good things happen, they can glow. And blame it on other people. Yeah. Don't take responsibility for their own doubts. You're getting me fired up, dude. Yeah, this is it. We've cracked the code. Yeah. And tell that to burn next time. We've gotten into arguments. I remember I was at State College. I was at State College performing. Okay. And I walk into the hotel and this is when I started moving up in the business, and I didn't like the hotel room, okay? Not that I'm a diva, but it's like, I'm not staying here. All right. You know, look at this. There's a rug. It looked like 1997. I'm not staying here. So I'm on the phone. I'm on the phone with burr, and I go, we're just talking. And I go, hey, man, I'm sorry, just give me a second. And he goes, what's wrong? I go, this room's terrible. This is and Bill goes, you know, listen, man, you're making moves. You're coming up. Go to another hotel. I go, yeah, and you know what, you're right. And I put my bag down and I'm about to get off the phone with him. We got into an argument about Montana Brady. This is when Brady had, this is when Brady had three or four rings. Okay. And we got into an argument Montana Brady, screaming at each other. I'm not exaggerating. Screaming at each other in this hotel room, I hated for three hours that it got too late. I had to stay there. I couldn't even I couldn't even check in. I couldn't even check it. I had to stay because of the lunacy that went on. The insults, the screaming, and I stayed in a horrible hotel room because I yelled with him for three hours. I assume you took the Montana side of it? No. You took the Brady side of things? Yeah. I did. I said, Brady, I said Brady is the greatest. I said, Brady is the greatest quarterback. Of all time. It's just what it is. So you took the Brady side of things and you and he said, you can't say that yet. He was being a contrary. He said, you can't say that yet. You know, Montana went to four one four. I'm going, but look, look what this kids don't look what this kid has and everything. And it turned into a screaming thing. You may not bring it up to bill that you were right all along. When he got to like 6 or 7, I was like, are we going to do this anymore?

"Yeah, yeah. Fantastic. Paul versus the comedian here on the rich eyes and show, how'd you meet Bill Burke? How'd you come across him? You guys do a podcast together, anything better. Yeah, so I opened for Bill years ago, like probably like 2006, 2007, and laughs. He didn't see. He goes, man, were you the other guy on the show? I'm here. So I'm gonna watch, I'm gonna watch and he watched and we just hit it off, and I'm a New York sports guy. He's a Boston sports guy. So we had that, and I'm like, you know, I'm younger, I'm a generation under. So I think he kind of saw the east coast kind of connection that we had with sports, and then that was the rest is history, man. Yeah, I always, when he comes on here, we have conversations, and he accuses me of trying to trigger him. It doesn't take much with certain things. But I'd like to tell him that Boston sports fans are not happy unless they're unhappy. And he kind of flipped it on saying that it was my unhappiness. That's really at play here, that it's more about me, not really about him. I get that right, Chris, isn't that what he said? Yeah, basically, you're just jealous 'cause we've won so much. And so why are you trying to make me be unhappy because we're happy we win a lot? You know, listen, those guys, those Boston, New England guys. They almost like they like it to be miserable a little bit. Like I remember one year, the Patriots were going to be good every year. Right. And I would call up, Bill. And be like, oh, dude, you guys are good this. You know, how about a defense? Like, and they were just clearly a great team. And it would just be they never would go, yeah, this could be our year where I'm a Giants fan. And I think we're going to the NFC championship this year. This year, we're going to the NFC championship. But I'm also like I'm delusional though. Yes. Like I'm a die hard Knicks fan and any time anybody spotted in New York, I think they're coming. You know, like Seth curry, they've seen Seth curry at JFK. I'm like, he's having a meet with Donnie's coming. Blockbuster trade three hours, I'm telling you right now. And I'll actually convince LeBron was coming. I was convinced KD, all them were coming. I'm one of those. Well, Duran did come, he just went to Brooklyn. Yeah, but I mean, that's not, you know, that's not that's not New York. I mean, let's talk. That's a knick fan, right? That's not New York. And there's nothing more disgraceful. There's nothing more disgraceful rich than somebody that was a knick fan that became a Brooklyn net fan. They're dead to me. That can't blame you for that. You can't do that. If you were a New Jersey net fan. Yes. Fine. Have at it. But if you were a Knicks fan and you said, I know guys that are gone, I can't take it anymore. I'm jumping ship. You can't, it's over. You can't. That's the worst thing for me. I jump ship entirely because of what happened to Charles Oakley. I'm done. I'm not even rooting for anybody in New York right now. Are you a mixed fan? I am die hard. I grew up in Madison Square Garden. I remember red holtzman, the end of his tenure, 'cause I'm a 53 year old guy. So Bernard Bernard king was my guy growing up, loved him doing. I remember when he became a Nick, I thought the Bernard and Patrick show would be incredible and then obviously Bernard got hurt at hardly ever happened, lived and died through all of the check its years with Riley and van Gundy loved it all. Hate Dolan. Can't root for the team. Period end of story. Wow. I don't mean to go negative with you right now. No, but you jumped when they were over. They did escort Oakley out like he was a drunk civilian fan. It's ridiculous. I mean, they should hang a banner from the rafters for him. As far as Oakley was the man, I know that. But I'm excited. I would do anything for the next championship. I'm really excited about the Giants, the Giants. I think they had a brilliant, brilliant draft. I think that that kid Evan Neal from Alabama is what, you know, Jones needed, yeah. I agree. You know, the thing is like, everybody's like, I don't know about John. Here's the one thing about New York fans that bother me though. There's half of them that are great and half of them that are truly dummies. Just dumb. You know, like I literally was, I remember I was Monday Night Football. Monday Night Football and the rams are in town and a guy sitting behind me and he's just going, you know what? He goes, I don't know about this Eli guy. It's like what you don't know about two parades that he brought here. What do you know? I don't know about this guy, just miraculous on the road, comebacks in the fourth quarter, beaten Brady twice undefeated. What don't you know about there was this thing. They had this, but they boog Jeter when he went over 33 on a slide. They booed Mariano. That I can't. I'm with you too. I'm a die hard Yankee fan, and I'm locked in right now. We're on the same. We are. I'm from Staten Island. My brother loved and I'm from the era of you rooted for the teams because of the stadiums they played in. So my brother was a met jet and that's what he was. I met jet and Nick. Yeah. And so I got into the jets, and then I realized the mets weren't winning Jack. And then Thurman Munson became my favorite player, catfish hunter came to the Yankees and then Reggie right after 76, 77, 78. I've been locked in ever since. Ever since. And I love those guys.
Stink Reacts to ESPN's List of Top 10 NFL Running Backs
"So stink yesterday, the top ten running backs in the NFL came out. Okay? Derek Henry number one. Yeah. Jonathan Taylor number two, Nick Chubb and Cleveland. Number three, Dalvin cook in Minnesota. Number four, Alvin Kamara. Number 5 in New Orleans. Joe Mixon and Cincinnati, number 6. Christian McCaffrey, Colorado is one of those favorite sons, Christian McCaffrey, number 7. Nausea Harris, number 8. Aaron Jones and Green Bay, number 9. And then you get to number ten on the list from the people in the sport, the top ten players at every position. Javonte Williams came in at number ten on this list, your reaction, your reaction is what? My reaction is it shows you the respect that people evaluators and people who play and coach and GM in this league, the respect they have for that guy as a player because that guy, unlike most of these guys, most of these guys are pretty much Bel cow guys. That dude was a true split. So you're talking about a guy that truly split the carries. And this league has gone that way to where there's different guys that have different skill sets and play in different packages and different situations. But the majority of these guys, if you're going to run it 25 times, they're getting 18 or 19 of those carries. And javonte was truly a 50 50 guy.

"For gamblers. Let's see, it looks like we're going to need the Jaguars. First of all, we're going to need someone to win outright. Good point. We're going to need Dallas to lose straight up the Raiders to lose straight up. For example, did you catch what Ed said his title is? Because it isn't like VP of betting or even VP of sports analytics or something you'd expect for a top executive at a sports entertainment company. His title is actually vice president of risk management, which honestly sounds better suited to someone who works like in an insurance company. And I think this tells you a lot about the nature of the work they're doing. It's kind of surprising, but they're not actually focused on predicting which team is going to win. They're not talking about sports. It's not about being the smartest sports mind or knowing what a team should do on fourth down. So Sam, I do want to pause here because you just gave us a pretty critical nuance, I think, right? Because what you're saying is that they don't care about predicting who's going to win the game, which is sort of the obvious thing. I think you'd imagine that Vegas cares about right, well, that's where it gets kind of interesting because who wins and how is the primary focus for fans and even for most of the analysts that are on ESPN. But the bookmakers care about that stuff only in relation to how it moves the market that they've set. The things that you and I might care about going into a game are not necessarily super important at all to these guys who run the westgate. And so I came across a couple of really surprising examples. One that Ed talked about very early in the day is player injuries. And right now, this is where we're getting all the injury information Dalvin cook is out for the Vikings, which has moved the line exactly zero points. Are you running back fans? They mean zero in the NFL betting. That seems weird, right? If you're a Vikings fan or an NFL analyst, you care about Dalvin cook being out. But even though Dalvin cook is a big name, the NFL is a passing league right now, and running backs just don't matter that much. So if an enormously influential running back, being out, Sam doesn't actually matter to these guys, which still kind of blows my mind I admit, what does matter in Ed's world? Well, guys, I guess Ed would probably quibble with the idea that he's enormously influential to start with Pablo. That's the thing. I think he would say that quarterbacks are enormously influential. And they do matter, especially the top tier of corner packs who affect scoring plays all the time. But it's not only quarterbacks. The better's really key on offensive line problems and the Panthers have all kinds of issues today in the line and patriots are another team, I believe they have three or four offensive linemen out and it's just a total switch around. And that line's gone from like 9 and a half down to 7 and a half. Right. Listen to that. That's a huge swing in the bed in line, originally the Patriots were 9 and a half point favorites, but now after the news that a number of their starters on the offensive line are not gonna play, Ed and the other risk managers have swung the line to whole points away from the Patriots. And it's because offensive line play has a direct correlation to offensive production. In a passing NFL, will the quarterback have time to actually make throws and when they do want to run the ball, will the offensive line open up any holes for whatever running back is in their Dalvin cook or anybody else to run through? If not, the offense is done. And since it does matter to the final score, it matters a great deal to the smartest sports bettors. Those are the guys that sportsbooks called sharps..

You know, still 6 and 5, and they're both Samuels is over a thousand yards and once again, two Russian TDs, this dude's like a mix of anquan boldin and Percy harvin all in one. Yeah, that's right. He's got the physicality of an bold and the speed of Percy harvin. Look, 5 rushing touchdowns. He's got more rushing touch sounds than Dalvin cook, Christian McCaffrey, saquon Barkley, Aaron Jones, Alvin Kamara, like it's unbelievable. This kid is such a weapon, but I'm going to tell you this. No team. Absolutely no team once to play the forty-niners if they're healthy. If they keep Jimmy Garoppolo healthy, they can keep kettle healthy. Devo Samuel healthy, this team has a legitimate shot. All right, so coming up this week, coming up this week, we got, well, I guess 'cause we're contractually obligated on the mission Seattle. Seattle versus watched it. I mean, I mean, I hope I hope we can see Pete Carroll come to the come to the press conference man. Last week, press conference was impressive. I mean, I don't know if he was this week. What he do. I mean, we might not see we might not see Pete current for the rest of the year. You know, he might he might be like Marshawn Lynch. I'm just here so I don't get fine. Because I think he's running out of the answers to why this offense can't generate points even though Russell Wilson is back and they have lock it. They have, you know, they have Metcalf and yet the victories and listen to more and more they lose, the jet fans are celebrating because the more and more Seattle lose the better that pick gets for the jets. You know, Jamal Adams to get that keeps on giving. If you lose to a Heineken, I don't know if Pete Carroll can handle that. No, I think you're right, but here's the thing that's absolutely crazy. Look, Seattle just got beat by colt McCoy. Yeah. Like, are you kidding me? I mean, they better be happy that colvin McCoy's not quarterback and we're washing it again. But because you'd have to favor him. But here's what I want to see in that game. I actually want to see Russell Wilson play like Russell Wilson. Now he doesn't even look anything close to how we used to be and people are talking about train three first round picks for him. Hell, no. Not playing like this..

"Bengals steelers. It'd be nice to have all the wide receivers healthy in this game. But here's your stat of the game as it relates to nausea harris. The bengals have faced two running backs. Dalvin cook and david montgomery. Both of them had twenty carries for sixty one yards is. Nashi harris. A must start. I got him rank that way. It's easier to do an npr. The non-pwi pr. Frankly i'd be a little surprised if he had sixty one rush yards just because the offensive line has been an absolute killer for them. We know that rothlisberger isn't playing at a hundred percent and if they don't have dante johnson that's that's gonna hurt them in the passing game to could it help nausea harris. If they don't have dave they could run the ball effectively and have demonstrated that within the first two weeks of the season. Then i would say yes. My time did say we got to run the ball better. I'm doing great. Zack, How are you? I'm doing fantastic. Football is back. I'm like a fat kid in a candy store. I love it. Thursday night. Game was awesome, wasn't it? It was and I was very impressed by Dak Prescott coming back. You always wonder quarterbacks get a deal mentally and then also holds up physically coming off the injury, Get another injury. During the pre season. I could not be more impressed with what Doc did last night. I know it was amazing. Do you think that both coaches colleagues other and said, Hey, we're just going to throw the ball game. Well, the Buccaneers it's because they have Brady. Obviously, I thought they should have trusted the run a little bit more, and you're going up against Dallas, which is not a good defense. McCarthy said. Yes, I know that front in Tampa Bay. I have zero interest of running the football, even with a guy that used to coach and Ezekiel Elliott, what type of anything seeks to have this year? I said he was good. I mean, everything I'm hearing. Is he back in shape He's doing, you know, like better shape than he's ever been in. He's running the ball. Well, he's going to be a big part. You know, he did his part in that game. You saw him pick up several blitzes all night long. And you know, sometimes you're just It's not your number is not going to get called, but it's going to be there in other ways. And and that's why it's the ultimate team games. All right, guys, you know, we do picks a little bit differently. Here. I get three. You get through we go one for one. You have to take an underdog. I'll start things off. I'm looking at the Packers at the Saints. This game is going to be played in Jacksonville. Green Bay is a 3.5 point Favorite II Think Green Bay is one of the Super Bowl this year. That's my Super Bowl pick. I think Aaron Rodgers picks up where he left off last year and has another monster regular season. The Saints. I'm intrigued by Jameis Winston, No Michael Thomas. That's going to come back to hurt them. Ultimately, Green Bay Wins this game and probably wins it by 7 to 10 points like the Packers, minus 3.5. Like that. That's a good pick. Um, you know, I was going to go that, but since you you went there, You know, I can't pick the same game your pick at night. You could if you want, but, yeah, first game of the you probably don't want to. I actually want to win these games show. I see. Yeah, I take my first pick is an old team of mine. Uh, Vikings going to play the Bangles? Uh, I think the Vikings are given up three to the Bangles, but I don't. I don't see the Bengals compete with them. I think the Vikings are hungry this year. Hopefully, it's Kirk Cousins. Year gets the Vikings on the board early in scores. Uh, often I think that Dalvin Cook could have a great year as well. You look at the offense. It's things that they lost service Smith Jr for the year. But you got Justin Jefferson Adams feeling Kirk cousins. I want to see what borough could do. Coming back from the injury. They got to protect him. I just don't trust that Bangles defense. Yeah, I like that pick. Of the Vikings minus the three points, so one game down for each taking Green Bay minus 3.5, and you were going with the Vikings minus three next game. Little bit of a revenge game. Here. You have the debut of Zach Wilson with the JTS Jets, Jets jets, and then you got sam dot Arnold going up against his old football team. I could barely name anyone on this Jets defense. I know that there's some offensive line concerns in Carolina, but they got run CMC. They got DJ more They got Robby Anderson. I think that will be enough may not be as ugly as the game is what people expect. But at the end of the day, the Panthers they win the game and they win the game by more than four points. Give me the Panthers minus the Ford. Yeah, I like that pick. I think fans Arnold's going to, you know he's got some town around, and I think it's a little better coaching than he's had. And I think he's going to come out and you know if he can play mistake, freak Which is hard to do, you know, not make those big airs. Just get it to CNC. That's always going to do what do you got? Game number two. All right, buddy. Game number two. I'm going with my man. It's magic charges of flying across the nation. Coming into Washington. I think my my man fits. Magic is going to have a good game. But I like that Washington defense and you know, even though Herbert won rookie of the year last year offensive rookie of the year I still think and they've got a new coach. They like him. He's young, but I'm going to take Washington. Like what? Ron? Embarrassed doing there. So you're taking the Washington football team minus a point. All right, A game number three. My underdog pick. This was a tough week. I didn't really love any of the dogs. Some of the dogs I like I thought it was 50 50 could go Either way. I'm going to take the Raiders here, a team that I normally never trust. But it's early in the season. I could trust the Raiders to get off to a good start. And then just stink it up and choke it up down the stretch. The Ravens I thought were a lock to make the playoffs a month ago. Now they lost J. K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards out Marcus Peters now out for the season. And this is going to be a tough spot for the Ravens. It's going to be a close game. Um, I think it comes down to a field goal at the end, it may come down to which quarterback has the ball in their hands last at the end. I just think Derek Carr will get off to a good start in game number one. I'm not a believer in the Raiders this season, but just been some bad vibes around the Ravens the last month. Unfortunately, so I'll take the Raiders plus four I like that pick. I was thinking about that one. And, you know, I feel you on the Ravens. Uh, they've had some bad breaks in the last couple weeks. And, uh, you know, I think if anybody can do it, they can climb out of the hole. They've got a good organization there. Alright for my pick here. My underdog pick. I'm going home town. I don't know if they're going to win. Wow covers bread. I think the Steelers going to go up to Buffalo. You cover that spread. There's a lot of questions going on in Pittsburgh right now, But, you know, I think that they're going to come out and play well enough to be keeping a close game. So you're taking the Steelers plus the 6.5 points. In Buffalo. Hey, you know what we should have done for the for the bed here, Gus. Maybe if I win the pics, I get to throw you throw you through a table bills Mafia style. Oh, yeah, Like six a.m. in the morning we got I mean, that's what we gotta do. Some wings get some natty light. We'll go up there seems like too much insurance on that front, because if I throw you through a table and then Something goes wrong that I get suited be no boy. No, sir. I think I've been hit harder than a table. So that is true here. The picks for week number one. I'm taking Green Bay minus 3.5 Panthers minus four and the Raiders plus four gusts. "All around a deeper, better team. So You sometimes want neutral fields and in this case if it is sloppy if it is wind if it is snow that could help even out the playing field, So it's not great for the Packers, okay? But if you're asking me if it ends up being a dark, windy, snowy, sloppy day, Yeah, I'm going to say I trust Aaron Rodgers to navigate that a little bit more than I trust. Tom Brady, a 43 years old. And this bucks offense, which has been little feast or famine, including in the playoffs as well. Here's your phone number, 855 to 1 to four CBS 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 or on Twitter, DEA on CBS. Morales. What do you think? Advantage bucks or Packers if there snow on Sunday I think it's still advantage Packers, though it's hard not to think that it gets neutralized a little bit. If the forecast continues to get worse than what they're saying, look half an inch inch of snow. I think that's one thing heavy winds and getting it up 2345 inches of snow. Which doesn't look like it's going to be the case. I do think would neutralize things because looked as I brought up last week and up the gut. There was two weeks this year we're at Lambeau. The winds were howling and very heavy, and the Packers were absolutely gashed on the ground that had no answer to stop the run game for both Dalvin Cook and John Robinson and what you see in bad weather on top of maybe having trouble stopping the run. He's a little bit of slippage from the backs and big playability and Tom Brady doesn't have the arm strength to get it down for big playability. But when you've Chris God when you have Antonio Brown,.
Thirty-two NFL Awards
"Every week on this podcast given out. Nfl awards app. The week is over. This could be a bit ambitious but thirty two teams thirty two awards. Let's go we're gonna call this one the best six and ten team of all time award but the washington football team stepped up so now he renamed it already way to change the word on the fly in the moment with breaking news the best seven and nine team of all time award the washington football team now can we say that definitively it may be too early to say last year tampa atlanta both went seventy nine. Those teams didn't even make the playoffs so the early lean is that washington could be the great one of all time. But we don't know yet. Speaking of that game. The clockwork orange award goes to the new york giants because they had to watch i at one point. This season banned myself from nfc east games. I said i wouldn't watch any until the teams are over five hundred. I watch step drop sixty two instead of being super locked into washington philadelphia. And i don't feel like i miss much. I know there's a lot of controversy would get that. Maybe a little bit later but imagine having your eyeballs taped open like clockwork orange and being a member of the giants having to watch that game. Nate sub-field now. Look we can sit here and be upset about it but you could have gone seven nine and got into the playoffs. So how sorry. Can you really feel for the giants the skeletons on the zahara award. Yes some of these awards. We referenced. his some won't get boy when you do get a weird one. You're gonna go man. I get that all right. That award goes to the. Las vegas raiders. Because at the beginning it looked promising. Nice little boat trip trade. Some spices await were crashing into rocks. Not a big deal here. Some locals gathering on the beach here to help nope now. We're marching to our own death in africa so it was very pro gruden. Hey maybe this gruden guy knows what he's doing and then you're like wait. Does this actually suck again. The drought continues. The raiders have not won a playoff game. Since two thousand to the notre dame award that goes to the green bay packers great record high green. Bay's really good. They're thirteen three though the one seat but nobody outside of their own fan base is rooting for this team. Not only because of the history of hatred. Although i imagine there's way more anti notre dame stuff out there than it is anti green bay but no one trusts you. Yes you're thirteen and three but that's three. Nfc conference championship game losses in the six seasons. A couple down years. They've turned this thing around. They are the one seed. But everybody's kind of overt already before. It's even started the parent's weekend award that goes to the new orleans saints. You guys know the deal parents weekend. There's a dad he wants to stay out with you guys. And he's older he's a little beat up and you're like i don't know like we're going to go out. We can't say no. We respect him too much. It doesn't look great. Doesn't make a ton of sense on paper there's some bad stats in there. But you have to let them do it. You have to let them try and the thing is is you and your buddies like there's no way does this is going to end well. The iceman award that goes to the dallas cowboys man and dangerous. What is with this jolt. A don't let us get hot. This is insanity when this was part of the story lines throughout the cowboys broadcast. Yes you on three in a row. Cincinnati san francisco and philadelphia yay. Then you lost the giants at home. You came in eleventh in the nfc but if you were to get in look out. This is now. It's our time you were eleventh in your own conference dangerous. You had sixteen games to prove that you're only dangerous to your fan. Base is or perhaps the understanding of what the word danger beans the g. league award san francisco forty niners. They had twenty eight players. At one point on i r or another injury cova list which was most in the league. They use the most. I are slots. They lost the most games to injury in the nfl. And even with losing record my coach. kyle shanahan. i can't believe how competitive they were. All season law the dabble award. That goes to kirk cousins in the vikings bike. He's gonna win. Nah no one really cares are one in five star people already over this team so their disappointing season was so disappointing so early that it was just all of a sudden just completely off the radar even though they turn some things around there a bit in the middle of the season with dalvin cook but watching cousins dance reminded me of daboh announcing his tiktok account hickory vickery dot mouse ran up the clock coast. Sweeney's got that drill and now he's on tiktok.

"Very regularly and one of the things I really like about your show is your bumper music. I think you have a fantastically curated selection of bumper music. And I know a lot of that comes from stuff that you grew up listening to the O s O. I try when you come on. I've always tried to find some bumper music that fits. The theme of what you use on your show? Because I was I like our guests to be happy. And what was that song she played? I don't know. I forgot. I forgot the name That was just random bumper. Everything. Yeah. John wanted me to call you, Andy. All segment to bug you and Now I'm going to do it because you only know what the theme song Wasit was. A song called Banquet was just one of our normal rotating bumpers that pops and usually I schedule like specific one for your segment. I neglected to do that this time, But you always give Sam the credit which I'm more than happy to let her have because being great being a cute young blonde. She doesn't get enough attention and no life. Why would you believe Drew over me? Well, what first hey, just called cute. Publicly. Okay, adorable If I do that, I'm down the hall in HR For like, 30 minutes. Wedding my 20th season calling Vikings football. I'm just playing now. Mondays Mondays. I'm here whenever you need me, But I understand Vikings. Football is a little more polarizing than some of the other sports not only in this region but period. Professionally speaking, however, do remember and I would never lay out bits for a Highly successful widely touted show like yours. But remember Minnesota Wild training camp begins today at 11 40 on my radio show is Zach Parisi number 11 favorite player and your show is his favorite show on all of radio. And I've known Zach a decade and a half, so it ain't mine. It's yours s O Just remember. We have Zach on is what you're saying. So why don't know? Yeah. I mean, that would really go over super well for Zach jumping on the radio saying Who out there showers with masks. I want to talk to you. That'd be great. You know, just like cousin speaking. Her cousin speaking from the heart when he said You may not understand what I'm saying. But I don't care if I get go of it. And And if I die? What Kirk man straight from the Gospel was If he dies, he's going to heaven. That's what that's what he met. He's comfortable it right. And but a lot of people weren't and I understood. You know some some standpoints, but man That that Parisi wild thing for you guys. What if they're really good? And like Parisi is and every Monday guest for you, you sell it. You call Sam? Cute ballots in the river. I mean, that sounds like an unbelievable 2021 win. I want to call a nautical. I think I'm using this term correctly. Okay? Since he since he invoked the name of God, I wanted to share. This is an audio clip that we played last hour. Paul Owen. So this was the start of the 117th congress. Right? There was a representative Missouri pastor and representative and this is how it This is how he opened Congress ready. We ask it in the name of the monotheistic God. Uh huh. And God, known by many names, but many different faiths. Hey, man. That a woman? What? What? What? What a man and a woman, he concluded, was by saying Amen. Oh, but then he threw in a woman. It would be man. That a woman has got to be inclusive. Right? Amen. My friend. I mean, so he's a pastor and a politician represented. Added Representative Yeah, Any woman. A man and a woman are all that man. That sounds that is definitely taking on a lot. Right. There we are. We finished seven and 9 30 minutes. The Minnesota Vikings offense, Woz. Let's see. I've called games for them for 19 years. 2004 Dante Culpepper almost won m v P with 39 TDs. Randy Moss was on that team. They beat Green Bay in the playoffs. 2009 best offense I've ever been associated with calling Vikings games. Brett Far. Percy Harvin, Adrian Sidney Rice defense was good, and we've had some, like 2017 the miracle year we had a good offense, but it was orchestrated by a backup in case Keenum. Lost. Alvin Cook is rookie year in the fourth game. So the work then offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur did with that offense to get to the NFC title game was fantastic, but that offense is not as good as what I witnessed this season. And you know, we we've we've specifically Andrew and I, we We've gone back and forth about Zimmer and the defense and expectations and some very good conversations in my opinion. The Minnesota Vikings offense this year came through pretty much every step of the way. So with the coordinator Gary Kubiak on my radio show today at 11 30 by the way, and I just taped it with him. It's about a 15 minute chat. And when you get a four time Super Bowl champion has been to seven to open veins about things he likes and things that bug him and he's done it 30 years and looking at players and how they handled themselves today compared to the past. That it was very eye opening or ears opening to me, because it's radio and with Gary Man, I mean cousins through the second most touchdown passes in history of the team. Justin Jefferson is nose the nose with Justin Herbert for the Chargers to be Rookie of the year. Dalvin Cook at nearly 2000 scrimmage yards, thean interior of your offensive line..

"How are you? You know what's going on, man. Happy New Year Happy New Year to you Usually When you close out with the divisional opponent, you hope there's something on the line. Unfortunately, Paul, There's not much juice to this one. Both the Lions and the Vikings air out of the playoffs, but Here We are week 17 in a crazy weird 2020 season, huh? Yeah, you know, with the with the Vikings coming into the season on been knowing Do Neil Hunter most likely would not be available for the season after prized free agent acquisition. Michael Pierce opted out due to Cove it, you know, we I knew it was gonna be tough. You know, there have been some things along this journey that I've seen for the first time. You know when I guess that's that status quo in 2020, you know, But then when we lost Anthony Bar for the season, and you know the defense had so much youth, like, Oh, Kuda, you know who I know is not playing. I mean, even somebody high end like that do not have pre season and you know, we have two or three of those on now They've gotten better, but it's It's just been an arduous journey, man. You know, watching the game on Christmas, Paul 52 to 33 Camara goes crazy for six touchdowns and Zimmer was very candid afterwards, saying it was the worst defense that that he's had as a coach, but but I'm watching saying, Come on now this This isn't the Vikings defense. I thought Zimmer's words were just eyebrow raising because I know him to be that candid based on the hand they've been dealt. You know this this This isn't your normal Vikings defense that we're accustomed to seeing the last few seasons. Yeah, but I mean, really, no matter who you roll out there if they practice it during the week. And and you know, your head coach who runs the defense is incredibly prideful. I mean, this is the individual Mike Zimmer, who revolutionized mugging of the age gap and and the age gap blitz with linebackers. No Super Bowl champion with Dallas won a playoff game last year. So I understand what you're saying, and I agree with you, but they're one of two ways to do it. You can tell the truth and that is the truth, according to Mike. Or you can lament. Well, come on, You know we don't have a B C, d e f and G The New Orleans game got too far out of hand, You know, and they're just for miss tackles and There were some suspect things that took place and when your prideful like might that that's what your reaction is going to be. We won't see Dalvin Cook, who's Who's had an outstanding season over 1500 yards Sadly, Yeah, they returned home to Miami. His father passed away. What's the latest with cook and his family, you know, showing that there's bigger things outside of football here? Yeah, Calvin was phenomenal this year Best player on the entire team, and he might have been the best player on the entire team last year. He definitely was the offense. But Daniel Hunter had a phenomenal year last year. So did Eric Kendricks, who was all throw But Dad Alvin's The Genuine Article two to come from Clearly, Dalvin is first round talent. Now, you know when, when he was at Florida State, and subsequently before that, in Miami, where he is now, you know there. There were probably some things that that popped up with him high school college stuff like that. That scared off some people in the draft. So you know, the Vikings world the dice and the dice came up Good, because he He's a fantastic guy off the field, and he's unbelievably good on the field. In fact, I mean, Adrian Peterson for the Lions, You know, that's Babe Ruth Man. That's one of the great home run hitters. In the history of the NFL. But if you look at the totality of the games Dalvin cook in Adrian Peterson, you know Dalvin catches it better, better run after catch better and pass protection, But nobody may ever be as good as Adrian in his crime between the tackles with the jump cut But Galvan overall is on par with Adrian. Phenomenal player. No doubt. Um Alexander Madison has done a hell of a job, though, backing him up, so we'll see him. You know, he's more than capable for that Vikings offense. They don't really miss a beat. I mean, he's not the same level of Azad Alvin. But you know that offense can click with with him. And they're you know, in the last two Dalvin has been out of We've been bad. Um, and that's something I'm looking for in this game is is the whole offense is falling off, though the last two dolphins missed this year and in the penultimate last year now Amir Abdulah caught a touchdown against the Lions, his former team, You know, I would expect a mere T O have a big say in the game, and also from afar. I'm pulling for Darrell Bevell. Um, Darryl and I have known each other for well over 10 years. I'm very close with Darryl. Hey, is the genuine article is a human being. And he's a very, very high end offensive mind. So I'm hoping that the stars align and better get that job. What are you looking for? I know you. You just mentioned you. You want to see more out of the run game minus Dalvin cook. What else? You're looking for it as the Liking set into the season finale. Not much Keep everybody healthy. You know, the last thing any of these guys want to do specifically at this stage of a pandemic is I have to rehab in the off season, so I'm certainly not saying Don't give everything but You know, let's let's not have any debilitating injuries. This wide receiver we have Justin Jefferson. I would like that Rookie to have a massive game s o..
Brady throws for 2 TDs, Buccaneers wear down Vikings 26-14
"Minnesota kicker Dan Bailey missed three field goals and an extra point paving the way for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to defeat the Vikings twenty six to fourteen the box score twenty three unanswered points including Tom Brady touchdown passes to Scotty Miller rob Gronkowski Brady said everyone had a hand in this way run game pass game you know everything finding a rhythm and I'm you know find ways to win games and making plays in situational football like we did in the first half in the start of the second half Ronald Jones ran for eighty yards and a touchdown for Tampa Bay is the book's strength in their grasp on a playoff position Dalvin cook scampered for one hundred two yards and one score but it wasn't enough to prevent a damaging blow to the Vikings postseason dreams Tom Aikens Tampa
Cousins, Vikings overcome Patterson return, beat Bears 19-13
"Kirk cousins threw a pair of touchdown passes as the Vikings defeated the bears nineteen thirteen cousins aerial strikes were both to wide receiver Adam Phelan cousin says his team is playing really well great to get a win you know so we'll try to keep building on it now it'll be so important to you know keep stringing these together if we can that's that's really what the you know the rest of season be all about for the game cousins was twenty five or thirty six passing for two hundred ninety two yards Dalvin cook added ninety six tough yards on the ground for the bears scored Daryl Patterson returned a kickoff one hundred four yards for a score his eighth career kickoff for touchdowns tying an NFL record the Vikings have won three in a row while the bears are going the opposite direction they've dropped four straight David Shuster Chicago
Week 10 fantasy football rankings: Running Backs
"I running backs schedule running backs derrick henry. It's actually pretty terrible for the next. three weeks. colts ravens colts. They are top for against fantasy running backs. Then it is unbelievable. And this is the time of year. We're derrick henry gets going anyway His last three his fantasy playoffs are jacksonville. Detroit and green bay. So i i'm recommending. My dalvin cook sell high. And we're going to wait until this primetime game against the colts and hope derrick henry struggles a little bit. And then we're going to sell dalvin cook for derrick henry and very good wide receiver. Okay i because he's going to destroy jacksonville detroit and green bay and the fantasy playoffs. Jonathan taylor is. I have a tough time. Buy into this. But has four matchups against teams. That are twenty nine. Th or worse against running backs this week against tennessee. I don't think it's that great of a match up. They've been really good. The last five games against running backs these per carry giving up some points. But they're giving up touchdown they are giving up touchdown touchdown every game tennessee this year. But you know he's got houston he's got vegas. He's got houston again in week. Sixteen might be tough against pittsburgh but the match ups are great. Does it matter. I don't know what jonathan taylor. We'll see what his role is he's got to just he's got to start playing freely and i think that's what the colts are waiting for. I think the colts are going to give him every opportunity to to get there but he. He's splitting the russian downs. Work with jordan wilkins in the hemans. The hurry up back the passing downs back. David montgomery talked about best remaining schedule. And then two teams. That probably doesn't matter but the foul. I guess i shouldn't say that all that. You guys determine that via broncos and the patriots like damian harris is is locked in. He could be pretty good down the stretch but obviously we don't know if that's going to be the case but yeah patriots and broncos have good schedules now. You go running backs with bad schedules. This one i think is very very important. Kenyan drake. I don't know if anybody is really into kenyan drake but terrific low. You think so yes. Because he's got some very good run. Defenses coming up very good. Maybe he's not such a good bye. I hate the schedule. Buffalo's not good. That's this week. if he's back. Seattle is a good run defense. Their twelve against running backs new england's of matchup. But then after that. So we're talking. That's week ten eleven weeks thirteen and on the rams the giants the eagles the forty niners. That's weeks fourteen. Thirteen fourteen fifteen sixteen. Those are four really good run defenses. And that's kenyan drake who only runs and doesn't have any involvement in the passing game so the whole point is to trade firm at the lowest possible price and it's because chase edmonds isn't gonna take his job when he comes back at it sir feels like he'll still have that role that rundown role maybe drake as the guy to go target. If you're desperate for a running back in the next three games not so much for the rest of the season you think this week. He might not even play this week. That's the problem is today. It feels like those games that you're referencing in the playoffs. Are more chase edmonds games than kenyan drake games like. Drake could play all four of those games against her. Three of those games against a good wendy fences and for edmonds might just be better. I think it's four good run. Event is the rams giants eagles niners and the giants thing. They're just about like fourteenth about as close to average as you can be but that's because they're really bad against pass catching running backs. They're not fourteenth in run. Vincent fourteenth and fantasy points allowed to running backs so that does feel more like a chase edmonds game like you. Just look at antonio gives they give us some touchdowns. Mckissic was a lot better than gibson. Even though gives another touchdown i dunno. I dunno school. Fantasy points because of the touchdown. But that's my point like these are good run defenses. So for a guy who's not involved in the passing game at all too scary schedule. I think down the stretch for kenyan drake.
Cook's 4 TDs help Vikings knock off Packers 28-22
"The Vikings surprise the Packers in Green Bay twenty eight twenty two as Dalvin cook became the first Minnesota players since Ahmad Rashad nineteen seventy nine to score four touchdowns in a single game cook racked up two hundred twenty six yards from scrimmage and reach the end zone on each of the Vikings first four possessions he was so productive Vikings quarterback Kirk cousins attempted just fourteen passes for one hundred sixty yards one of those throws was a fifty yard scoring toss from cousins to cook putting the Vikings they had twenty eight fourteen late in the third quarter the Packers drop to five in two despite dividing Adams three touchdowns I did very
Vikings' Dalvin Cook highly unlikely to play vs. Packers
"As the NFL heads into week sixteen of the regular season Minnesota Vikings will likely not have running back Dalvin cook in the line up for Monday night's big NFC north match up against the Green Bay Packers a week seven leading rusher is dealing with a shoulder injury meanwhile cowboys quarterback dak Prescott has been limited to practice all week with a sprained right shoulder but is expected to be good to go Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles in an NFC east showdown with first place in the division on the
Minnesota takes advantage of 7 Chargers turnovers in victory
"Mike Poon ran for two touchdowns in the Vikings took advantage of seven charger turnovers in a thirty nine to ten when Kuehne fourth on the depth chart replace Dalvin cook after the star running back went out early third quarter with a shoulder injury Kirk cousins threw for two hundred seven yards and a score as the Vikes get to ten wins and hold on to the end of season last playoff spot delays Philip rivers through three picks and also lost a fumble which was returned the other way for Minnesota touchdown mark Myers Carson California
