"Thing that you spent the money on didn't work. It was the same thing like I went back. It's dark. We could talk about it in the next break, but some of the trade up trade downs that the Pats had. They said they missed out. They traded up trade down. They traded up for Dalton king and the two tight ends. Who both were bus, but they spent a lot of draft capital on those guys. And then had to do the hunter Henry and John and Smith. Well, just to make up for all this other capital, they spent on these two guys that were immediately bus. They broke the bank last year in free agency. And then they had a really good draft class last year. So there was a positive momentum like, all right, you know, like, here we go. And universally, this draft is raising a lot of eyebrows from the Patriots. And we can go deep into the first round pick if you want. But it's a shocker for me. I do all the work where I talk to all the teams. No one had that guy's a first round pick. Whether they want to say he might have been early second and who knows and he was not viewed as a top 40 guy and they took him where they took him. The trade downs for them just last 5 years have just not worked. I went through, I actually went through everything they did try to figure out what the hell was going on. It's pretty grim. This is now, I think Belichick, it is expired with at least being able to not question him about the drafts. I was going to say where are you at that point with that? Because a lot of people are like 5, 6 years of this though. Yeah, it's like you could do what you want. Hey, good luck. Questioning Belichick. I'll see you in a couple years. And I was like, well, I mean, we had the Mac Jones and trading up for bar more. Are the two big wins from the last 5 years. But you go through the 2020 draft where they had a lot of picks, they traded a lot of stuff. They brought they basically moved up down sideways. And then up with Kyle Duggar, who I think was a good pick. It's good. Joshua we'll see was barely on the field down the stretch. Anthony Hardaway not playing. And keen not playing. Robust or the kicker didn't even make the team. Nope. On when are the guard and the hair in the offensive lineman, those guys have at least played, but that was, they started out in that draft of 23, 87 and 98 and a bunch of third rounders didn't really do a lot. They had the 2019 draft was the kill Harry 32 to trade it up for juwan Williams 45. Vanderbilt can't play. Chase Benavidez who they also made it for. Yeah. Missed on a couple offensive lamb and missed on the quarterback Stidham who can't play. And Jake Bailey, the punter was the best pick that year. You go back the year before, Sony Michelle at 31, duke Dawson 56. The second best guy they drafted was barrio, so they let go at two ten. Who's having a nice little resurgence with the jets? In 17, they trade their first for Brandon cooks. They traded 64 for Coney Ely in 72. He didn't even make it. Alvin Kamara was 67. Cooper Cup was 69. And they ended up at 72. They traded back again for 83 and one 24. They took Derek rivers 83. Who's not playing? There's a lot of these is my point. I don't think Belichick can rest, look, my favorite coach I've ever had, love the guy, 6 super bowls, the whole thing, but you just got to look at the last 6 drafts and be like, these were not good. And that's why they're in the spot they're in. And I think this year, in particular, it's worth using a microscope because you lose Dave ziegler, who I think was a very important part of the front office. Casaro is now two years removed. McDaniels is no longer there. Mick Lombardi, who's Mike's son, who was very important on the offensive side in the last few years is now in Vegas with Josh McDaniels. You lose a lot of the brain trust and there's new guys that, you know, Ernie Adams isn't there anymore. So now grow is getting a lot of Elliot wolf like there's names, but it's not like, hey, the gang is back together and don't worry, trust us. A lot of those guys that were in his ear are gone. And, you know, you talk about some of these picks and the wide receiver and it's all right, so who's coaching the offense this year? Is it going to be Joe judge or Matt Patricia if so? Yeah. I'd like some indication of what values they put on their wide receivers. And what they're looking for because that's a big pick right there to take the Baylor kid and I'm not going to question it until the season starts, but I would assume that I'm not alone in saying both he and Cole strange went before they were listed on most teams boards. Yeah, look, if Cole strange is a great pick fine the question for me and this is in basketball too is could you have gotten them 20 picks later? Could you trade it back? Could you have done your version of that line's Vikings trade? Could you move back into the 40s wherever you had to go? Versus just taking the guy at 29. It seems like the word on the patriot streets was Belichick felt like somebody, yeah, was getting take them. And they were just like, we really want this guy. To be made, that like, hey, if you're going to take him at 29 or 40, what's it matter? Just take him at 29. You got your guy instead of getting cute, but all right. I mean, he's got some athleticism and some pass catching ability. I think he would just be a guy on top of the fact that he's got the pedigree and the off field character and all that kind of stuff. He just feels like the type of guy they would like, right? Just one of those footballs. So then why don't we do, why don't we do this then? Why don't we do that? Just move back to the 7th round and get him and pick up a future pick. We're probably going to lose him in knowing our love, but yeah. We need a team that actually has a future future 7th. Nick I think they could even though Josh McDaniels loves the fullback you know they could build could say look You got one way or the other like we're only keeping this many a tight end and fullback. Like what do you want to do? We can't keep we can't keep 6 like it's not going to happen. Do you want to just go home and heavy and you know, keep Dalton Keen maybe and I love Jakob Johnson and I want him here and he gives you the sledgehammer full back as opposed to the athletic fullback and I'm sure Daniels wants that. But are you better off going with four tight ends and one fullback in that one fullback being Dalton King? Cuz it gives you a swing song, you know, are you going to, are you going to cut or move Dalton Keen a year after trading up to get them in the draft and actually, giving up a ransom for that pic to get them? I, you know, I think if you, if you put Josh, McDaniels on truth serum, I think that Smith Henry, lacosse Assi Assi and Jakob Johnson would be his five on this team. But man, it's a real wild card this position and I don't know how it's going to work out, but it holds a lot of the keys in terms of how many extra roster spots? Are you going to have to keep people? Yeah, I mean that's just insane and it's not that I disagree with you, but it's insane to think that tight end is a quote unquote wild card after, how much money they spend. Yeah, with all the money being spent with the traffic picks in last year's draft. You should be settled like with that money and that draft Capital that you invested into that position. You should be set for the next five, six years in, with Janice Smith coming up, lame and not doing much during minicamp. As you said. A Henry's history. Akeem. Could not stay healthy. Last year, Assi Assi, I have read like you just said he looks better which is is good to read again I think last year covid-19 and in preseason went rookies from last year deserve the benefit of the doubt so maybe I'll see Ozzy's figuring song. I think are worth holding onto for another year with asi in dalton king just to see if one of them can maybe step up and show us something. I'll seems to be the better of the two.
