The suspect in the shooting of Quran Blake has been identified as 41 year old Jason Lewis of northeast D.C.. He's been charged with second degree murder while armed D.C. police chief Robert county. Anytime we have a loss of life, especially that of a child, that's something that really just pierces my soul to be quite honest with you. So why did it take so long? The shooting happened back on January 7th, county says there were conflicting and confusing details in the case, plus a lot of video evidence. Conti says that shot unravel the chain of events as caron Blake was running toward the vehicle before the shot, and then changed directions, sprinting toward Lewis. It's hard to say. I mean, obviously I don't know if he knew that mister Lewis was standing where he was standing. Or that he was armed. Meghan clarity, WTO news. You messing with cars, are you messing with somebody probably? Somebody that they don't have the right to shoot you or kill you. You're exposed to call 9-1-1. Long says when Blake yelled, I'm sorry and I'm a kid to Louis. That man should have just went on to say, okay, get your get away from me. I don't call our grab them. "One david. Amy on a thursday morning blood test results. Show the wife of gubernatorial kid. Allen west did not have drugs or alcohol inner system. the night she was arrested by dallas police on suspicion of dwi dallas police association president. Mike motta joining us now this morning to talk about the the arrest. Good morning mike. Are you doing today. Good so the dp content continues to defend. Its position that the arrest was warranted right. Absolutely absolutely i mean look at the title the charge suspicion. We don't arrest. We don't arrest people decide guilt or innocence at the scene. It was suspicion of driving while intoxicated. And i think when you look at the body camera and you look at all the clues absolutely there was reasonable suspicion improbable calls to make that arrest. I think we can I think we could all agree that the police do their jobs of the best they can. And as you pointed out the word is suspicion and there are a lot of people. I would say relatively a lot of people who are arrested suspected of drunk driving under the influence and then later found to have been into been cleared by that. But but colonel west is still insisting on an apology. And i really don't know that the dallas police department Should be in the business of issuing apologies to people who were found not to have been guilty of a crime. Well an apology of what you know. The officer obviously saw we all saw that she straddled two lanes she in the middle of the roadway twice she failed to signal all of that is probable cause for to make the traffic stop. We would all agree to that and then once you walk up to the window you see the buckshot. Is that in itself. Could be just that. She's tired but that is a clue of intoxication. You get her out of the call you give her the five different tests multiple clues throughout those five. Different tests led to believe this possibility. She could be intoxicated. She tried to do the breathalyzers. She could not complete the breathalyzer as instructed. Another clue to possibly be intoxicated. And so again. When you add all these clues up then the officer and the field has to make the best judgment decision on. Do i allow this person to continue driving down the road. Or do i do. Or do i err on the side of caution and make the arrest only ninth. What happens sorry. Only nineteen minutes That tape was released in a lot of it was a highly edited I guess for time purposes and now lieutenant. Colonel west is asking for that entire tape to be released. Is that something. the department would release in its entirety. Absolutely i mean that's open records request. He absolutely can do that and again. I think we don't need to sidestep the fact that Why chief garcia one of the reasons. Why chief garcia released that that video because of the unsubstantiated accusations at the officer would rude that they were discourteous that they manhandled her. That they you know were You know Insinuating that they would arrest or forever single 'cause if she didn't comply none of that happened but yet he has not apologized for that so again She has every right to be upset that his wife was arrested. That's only human nature but to docks that officer like he did to call her out like he did to the point that she was receiving death threats and they even you know people found her parents house and put her parents house on social media. And that's unwarranted and unnecessary. Mike thank you very much for taking a few minutes to talk with us about this absolutely and again you know. It's very unfortunate that Miss west went through this. And you know being arrested not something. That's fun but the process worked. The justice system does work all right. There's mike motta. He's of course. The dallas police association president coming up on k. l. i. f. and other toilet paper supply issue. And you won't believe what california's doing now. The drum up charges against them in order to continue the funding that they have. My wife voluntarily as a good citizen, got out of the car, participate in a field sobriety test when she was asked to blow repeatedly. Nothing came up on the Breathalyzer because all she had had Was the water and a lemonade. Yes. My wife was arrested, handcuffed, brutally handcuffed. And charged initially arrested under suspicion Do you are from work? She didn't do anything with the breath glass, and then all of a sudden she's course intimidated and threatened and to taking a blood alcohol test. Because, obviously, now you have to try to see if you can drum up charges for my wife taking drugs. My wife was charged with Driving while intoxicated with the minor child. I'm very upset with the fact that my grandson, Jackson was in danger by being left in the car, which is a couple of police officers, not even the courtesy. Wait for our youngest daughter and her husband to come there and retrieve our grandson while Mom, Grandma. My wife must be interested. So here's the deal. This is what has to happen. Number one officer L. Harris 11792. That's for bash number needs to be terminated from the Dallas police Department. That's why I want to see happen. Number two. The charges brought against my wife must be dropped and her record must be cleaned. Because this is all that happened. Here's to prove she was not drinking that night and to force her into taking the blood test using a warrant and all these other tactics, these Gestapo like tactics. My wife does not take drugs or by the way, the only thing she had taken her earlier that they were to etcetera. And then the other thing that has to happen, Uh, chief of police, Garcia. Dallas Police Department Mayor Eric Johnson, mayor of Dallas and Dallas District Attorney John Cruz. Oh, you will come to my house and you were publicly apologize to my wife to my grandson Jackson into his parents, our youngest art Austin and Dad J. D. Here in North Texas in the Dallas area. Very simple things that I'm asking for because the proof is right here. You arrested the woman. You disrespected her. You tarnish her reputation because she had a cup of water. And a couple lemonade. That is unacceptable. God bless you and God. Keep er All right. She is the mother of Patrick Zimmer Zimmer for one of the Dallas police officers killed in That deadly shooting and we'll find out About her son. How she has, um, chosen, you know, to continue on his legacy. You know, One of my strongest memories of that time was afterwards. When Dallas Police Department. A police unit out in front of the police department headquarters. Oh, yeah, attributes And then people just piled tributes and and flowers and teddy bears and everything all over it. So, uh, where we're remembering and Commemorating the people that, uh, that helped everybody. Uh, hell, and we will talk with Mrs Zamarripa coming up next hour before too long. Actually, about 20 minutes from now. I'm not a huge fast food person. I'm not either and that that's the thing that fast casual. Yes, I'm surprised because I used to really love the Drive throughs, But as I get older, it's like MM I gotta pick up. Go to Panera Bread a lot. Those type of I like Panera, but I like Panera sandwiches very much. I don't know if that's considered fast food. I guess it should be. If it has a drive through, which is why I've got a question about number one of these on the list here. Number five Five guys, Um, they have a drive through. Not that I know not that I'm aware of, And I guess I I guess a lot of these burger places are considered fast food. Um, the American customer Satisfaction index has been released of the best fast food restaurants nationwide from an online survey. Thousands of people voted in it. And of course this is, uh, these are national chains. So that's why water burger isn't on there. Can I make a horrible admission? I'm you don't like water burger? No, I broke. No, it's not that I don't like it. I just like man. Yeah, it's all right. And I And I know you know, I'm liable to be, uh, dragged to the to the you know to the I don't know the Oklahoma border to throw across, but It's just okay to me as far as I could I. Yeah, that's fine. But that's kind of the way I feel about all the fast food restaurants that I used to really love used to go to Taco Bell, like, three times a week. You know my husband I did the the other night. Um, we wanted some ice cream. So we usually you know, there's Brahms near us. That's where we go for, And I like Brahms Ice cream. It's really good. So we usually go. There is not bad. I like the, uh I like the cappuccino. Frozen yogurt that they have. That's not ice cream. Yeah, it is. But anyway, not well, It's good anyway. Um, there was a line a mile long. So we decided not to go because we just had time to go through the drive thru we didn't want to go in. We always go to Baskin Robbins for ice came Actually, Brahms would be a second choice. And so there's a McDonald's right there. Okay, whether my husband's like I'm just going to go to McDonald's and get ice cream and like, okay, So and I haven't been in a McDonald's in 100 years. It's funny that McDonald's it was empty. There wasn't a line McDonald's is at the bottom, the very bottom of the list lowest spot with a score of 70. And yet we probably eat at McDonald's more than any other fast food restaurant, Jack in the box box, Popeye, Sonic and Wendy scored 73. I've never been to a jack in the box and I've never been to a Popeyes Had their chicken sandwich That was really, really good been to Sonic and Wendy's just like once. I'm not a big Wednesday like Sonic Wendy's in those square burgers. They used to give me gas, their stomach problems. I don't know It's been a very long time Subway had the biggest drop in the rankings. Yeah. Subway is facing some problems. They're struggling. Yeah, but the top five on the list start number one at the top of the list. Chick fil A Somebody. I am okay again. That's exactly the way I feel. Yeah, It's all right. But they don't have a lot of choices. I mean, they really don't You know what the best thing that chick fil A is? As far as I'm concerned, is there macaroni and cheese I don't think I've ever had. They've got those chicken nuggets, which is what we typically get with the dipping sauce, like okay, Just people love it. There was one that opened in upstate New York when my daughter was in college and People were flocking to it like there was no tomorrow. She's I don't understand. I don't I don't understand. Uh, you know, and you ask for a chicken sandwich. They give you they give you a piece of fried chicken between Do you know Dr Bun, and that's it. We, actually we actually we were there last week, and we drove through and ask him about this, or we're kind of like a chicken sandwich. But you guys just give us a two pieces of bread thing. The guy was very excited. He says. Oh, no, It's better now. We had lettuce and tomato. Yeah. And we said No sauce of any kind. Nothing. Just lettuce and tomato that we'll put the sauce on the side if you want. Really, You're selling dry lettuce and tomato sandwiches with chicken. I just don't I don't get it. Domino's is Number two on the list. I don't get that. No, thank KFC number three Starbucks number four I think I don't think of Starbucks as a sandwich play as an eating place. I don't think a visit of fast food. No Anyway. There you go. Five guys, They have good fries. I've eaten there before liked it, But I don't think of it. I never I never think to go there. You have to go in and sit down. You know, I don't as far as I know. Alright, It's 75th. It's 5.

Dallas Names Eddie Garcia as New Police Chief
"Joining us now on the line is the president of the Dallas Police Officers Association. Mike Madi is a friend of the show. We've talked to him. Numerous times about Dallas police issues and today we want to talk to him about the fact that Dallas has finally picked a new chief San Jose Former police chief Eddie Garcia. So, Mike, First of all Merry Christmas, thanks for joining us today. Merry Christmas, Scott. All right? Yeah, thanks for coming on. Let's let's start right with this, Or are you happy with the higher or officers happy with this choice? Well, I think we're looking at this choice is a person who is well qualified. You know, I think it's no great secret that the rake vile wanted somebody from the inside. But if if T c was going to pick an outsider, he definitely pick somebody who was definitely had the resin. Main was well qualified. Well prepared for this job. What about his resume? Specifically, Has you guys excited? Well, I think he's done his brought his department through a lot of what Dallas is battling and has had to fight through. Hey, brought a department through. Um, you know, a pension issue a morale issue. Haven't attrition issued at a hiring problem they had, you know, embracement of the community issues and he was able to bring this department through that, you know, so he's had to make those hard decisions. They have the same issues with protests and rights. In San Jose, you know, being the 10th largest city in Dallas being the night so it's a comparable, very comparable population, and he did it with a third of the size of the department. So you know, obviously he has experienced making those hard decisions and that this isn't needed. To make an effective and efficient police department. And we're hoping he can bring that here. That sounds like all the things you just listed the morale. The protests and stuff like the hiring are all issues that Dallas has faced. No. We've talked about several times over the last couple years of those things you listed. I mean, what would you put as number one will get to crime and violent crime here a little bit, But of those things, I mean, what's the number? One thing officers are looking at. In terms of please help us with this. Well, I think he has to come in, and he has to one get the support of the rank and file and that's where chief always lacking. You know, she was unable. She was never able to really see eye to eye with Reagan file and get them to buy into her crime fighting initiatives. Because I don't think the rank and file really knew what it wa so we never had an idea of exactly or it's never communicated to the rank and file. What exactly are we doing? How we fighting this? What do you need from us? And not only that? Are you going to support us when we do that, and so you know, and listening to Chief Garcia and what he was saying in his interviews. Talking torto officers that have worked underneath him over there in San Jose. They also the same thing. This is a guy that when you're right, he is gonna fight for you. And when the department's wrong he's gonna own up to it. So I think that's what was lacking are last year's here in the city of Dallas. I think the community felt like they weren't heard on DSA. Oh, I think we're getting somebody with Garcia, who has a great story. You gotta remember. He came over here as an immigrant didn't even speak the language. Um, went, came up the ranks through San Jose, uh, from every from patrol officer to sergeant. The lieutenant on he was an operational command. And so he's again. He's had to make those hard decisions and he's had to get troops to follow him. That's what he's going to have to do here. They'd been responding to a report of a shooting and found his Booker lying face down in the street deceased from homicide violence, as they put it major wedding added that Edward Thomas, the man who was arrested after he was filmed repeatedly punching MS Booker last month was no longer in police custody, and that there was no indication he was late to the killing. But there's no indication that he wasn't linked to the killing either. You would have to infer from that wouldn't you a last month's attack took place on April twelfth shortly after MS Booker was involved in an automobile accident. Of an apartment complex the video of the episode showed a man of the thirties identified as Mr Thomas punching the woman on the ground as she struggled other men in the crowd kicked, her before a group of women helped her get away, and now found dead of a gunshot wound.
