"MTV, they do it for a lot of their shows. Obviously there's after the final rose in women tell and things like that. But for almost every reality show like I watch if if they did like a year later episode everybody just got back together and talked about everything that happened I'm watching every second of that you so. You were doing that I was like that's a really a smart idea because. You always want to know like what kind of relationship the bachelor the Bachelorette has with the people that were on their season. Yeah, I'm glad that you never even thought of it. That way as a reunion because it really was that whereas I was doing it I feel it was -Peutic for for everyone who did it was for me and I really just enjoyed the conversations with the women and it was funded Joe back in joke and because it's Everyone sensitive in that world and you have to wait three years and it was kind of funny talk about it in an honest way But yeah, the ton of fun I'm glad people are really enjoying it at all. This kind of is called Nick Veto trashy TV to keep it going I'm gonNA recap other. Just, kind of. Garbage TV trash TV and other conversations. Really you've kind of inspired me maybe I'll do see us key now. It just doesn't matter if you have ideas, maybe I'll have you guys on my Patriot to talk about whatever trash TV is out there you know we. Watch. It. I'll next. Grant everyone come and check it out. You can cancel anytime but it's certainly worth it's worth your time. If you are a bachelor fan I can promise you that much. Yeah absolutely. So go check that out now I wanNA, talk about what is going on in the Bachelor World Right now obviously, there's a lot of gamers theory swirling around as we all know Clare was this season's Bachelorette everyone was really excited for her season because you know she's been on multiple seasons in the past and a lot of new bachelor fans like myself haven't gone the chance to watch on TV so. It was also exciting just from that standpoint of not really knowing somebody and not judging them based on the past experiences and just because she's a little bit older, it was like, okay. We're actually going to see a real relationship happen. She may actually fall in love we're GONNA get something out of this and then boom the rumors started swirling apparently Clare had fallen in love within twelve days with this Guy Dale Malls and they're bringing in Asia as the new Bachelorette at this point in time I think that this has been confirmed to be true by multiple sources I think Lauren. Zima. Posted about she is dating Chris Harrison so I don't think impose a lauren posted I know is true because she's got the Chrissy. She would not post about it if it wasn't true because she is dating Chris Harrison he obviously knows what is going on Chris Harrison. So we got that, but then we also got pictures of Hannah and the resort we got becca. The resort so nick I, just want to ask you BECCA Okay. So I want to ask you. What your reaction was to hearing these rumors about tisches stepping in, and also what you think is going on with the other women showing up at their resort. I was shocked as anyone I spent a lot. I had ski on my podcast. We spent the whole time just like talking Guessing. It's it's crazy. What said before is like I, I was really excited for Clare for the same reasons same in different reasons I like they were aging up I thought it was just different. You know I think we're we were getting this kind of the same thing for a while and. I think it was neat to see more variety of ages especially. An older woman you know you don't see that as much. You never saw that on the bachelor. Yeah End what I what I. So excited about Clothing Cassidy to is because she is. Clear will is self assured in what she wants and we'll do what she wants and she is highly emotional. So it was like you don't know what you're going to get. Great TV. But I, but she really kind of. Went above and beyond I mean, let's You know I don't Ya. There's so many layers right because of the quarantine they took a break she knew. A good chunk of Roman for soul. He saw them. Yeah I think everyone's assuming there were they were talking. Right And then she decides screw it. She showed up for you know that's the thing we were doing a lot of guessing right we what we know is. Safe to assume that tastes taking over and in sounds like okay she's getting this Dale Guy Right. We're making a lot of guesses. We don't know You know even Allie mentioned my podcast that. Maybe. Clare quit maybe. The producers caught wind of this relationship and they were just like. Hey you know Clearly, you guys are hitting it off so Maybe they kind of. not, necessarily Egged on but let her go down that path and brought in tation maybe it wasn't Clare. Graves road I don't know. Maybe it was. That's what we don't know, and that's what I think we're all curious and that's what we'll all want to see and I think that's what they're going to try to like hold onto..

"And the week later we would have to, to release the, the launch of the budget that would later be adopted in January. So the crash happens. He don't really know the impact yet but, you know, you better leave a cushion to deal with. How many people would be employed for unemployed for months from now? So we literally for seventy two hours, we're just working nobody went home. We all slept in our offices for a couple of hours here and there the men all grew beards and, and we figured it out kind of rewrote. What we've been working on, for four months to fit more cushion in twelve to fifteen million dollars in very tight budget, and some extra job services and extra case workers because we knew what was coming and nobody wants their budget cuts. No, no. The, the hardest thing for a budget chief the worst part of it is your own best friends. Yeah. Because they assume they're all going to get taken care of so you hide in your office, because as soon as you go out the door, there's a cancer. Can I talk to you about these steps down to down a hill and by four surely, you can fit it in because you and I? Get along real well, right? We do. Yeah. And so, and you end up having to be the result is the end up having to be toughest on your best friends to, to prove that you're being fair minded. You actually are Dr note to the closest people do you. I think I think that, you know, it's interesting that you mentioned that because I find that that's what people think is the opposite of what's happening where it's like, yeah. Yeah. The impression is that, you know, it's buddies taking care of buddies, especially in the C to Toronto. There's like this perception, that there's a bunch of clicks, down their city hall and stuff. Well, that's definitely true. But I have to say, once you get into a real leadership role with very few exceptions. Once you are taken out of just the pure, politics and sitting down with a public service once you're sitting there with the CFO and the city manager and the all the analysts you start to realize how important. It is that you do try to produce this with a level of fairness, you've got to you've got balance the mayor's mandate against the needs of that the counselors are bringing forward and the needs that staffer bringing forward and those really have to be met I because council has already through the year said to those staff members, here's the level of service. I expect from you. And so the first thing you gotta listen to is that staff, member telling you what that will take. And so while you might think. Oh, god. Wise. He's why is he budget chief who knows what will happen while he's doing it. He's that guy's friend, not, my friend. I take solace. Whomever is budget. Chief from the fact that when they sit down with the public service things really do get real. So you're saying the politics goes out the window a little bit. Oh, yeah. When you when you when you go up to the seventh floor and you sit down to boardroom with the CFO and all the analysts, and they start to tell you, here's where this department is. Here's where we need them to get five years from. Now. Here's what councils told you. They want. Here's what the mayor's what the path is pretty clear budget chief and you end up telling them. Okay. I see what you've done here. My job is to tell you that's not gonna politically fly. Where else have you got some efficiencies? Because the way you've chosen to fund this thing that needs to happen. Five years from now that's not gonna fly in the council chamber in, in any clicker, or quarter or faction, not going to get it passed. So it's not going through. You need to go back to the drawing board, guys. There must be some efficiency somewhere else. So you're. Pulling them to look closer look closer. Come on guys and you end up doing that. No matter what your political stances, when you when you first take the job of budget. Gee this. What happens to a lot of politicians that have stars in their eyes, and they get like you hear about Serena in Greece, or these different political parties around the world. Yeah. You know, you know that are maybe a tip into the right side of the left side in terms of. Yeah, they actually end up in the job. And it's like oh shit. Yes. So we actually have to make real decisions. Now, we can't just talk about stuff. Yeah. How are so tough? And we're gonna make everything into a paradise. It actually is real decisions to make now exactly. And Rex it's another example of that. Exactly. They got so caught up in. Let's make this happen that they started to say, you know, we just need them to, to say, yes, we'll leave be careful not to tell them the impacts. And then you pay for that for the next twenty years when you when you take a whole population down one road and get them to want something then later on when you have to deal with the realities, the engineering realities, the funding realities. Brexit, Scarborough subway. Sure. These are things where a frenzy of let's all just get this then gets people painted into a corner where they can't turn around say it looks like this isn't doable. Yeah. The camp step back. And that's why gives them brinkmanship. Yeah. It's the brinkmanship swing engagement is so important to me pe-, if people really know you know, if you really give them the opportunity to understand the issue as why use participatory budgeting they, they end up doing a whole bunch of interaction to understand the idea, I had, here's why costs what it costs how long it will take and, and whether or not the staff think it's viable, they learn all of that, before they say, I want my idea on the ballot and so they really know going in what they're doing it that takes the politics out of the vote. The vote becomes, what is the best thing to do in this part of the city and they make. Amazing decisions. And it shows you in a way what you've done is created this little Petri dish in an area where you're doing that. The, the PB process. Late. They were making informed voters. So you're, you're kind of insulating them from the politics in a sense, allowing them to bring decisions to you and, and saying, okay guys, you know what if I'm you know, we need to be a little bit more over here, or something else has to change because we can't do it that way. You're kind of splitting those people from politics. Yeah. This is not my idea. You're not going to decide this based on whether you like Shelly or not. 'cause they're your Jewish. And so we put your ideas on the table as many as you have. Now, let's find out how viable they are from a staff member, not a politician. And let's find out the real details. They end up learning how a city works why things cost what they cost why they take as long as they take sure they, they know a ton more about the public sector and then they make a reason decision, and they're always incredibly fair, people don't vote for the thing that's closest to their house by the end of the process. They vote for the idea that makes the most sense to the overall area. I've done this for years in a row. Oh, they always make the best decisions. It really do. Yeah. Tell me about the sunrise, propane explosion. Oh my goodness. When I was acting mayor. Yes. That that was that was an opportunity to see the public service at its best really, really was a lot of people have some people forgotten about it, because it was handled so well, it's almost like you think about what actually happened. It was like a it was like a World War. Two bombing thing. Yeah. We evacuated fifteen thousand people in a couple of hours, held them somewhere and then staged letting them go back it after having done. An neighborhood wide s best is cleanup. They did an amazing job. But it was it was at the, the outset was a comedy of errors. There was the tragedy I when it happened. I was mayor by virtue of the fact that I was budget chief and the mayor. And the deputy mayor had not had a conversation, both mayor Miller and deputy, mayor Pantalone were on vacation at the same time. So just before they left the staff member called me. And he said, you're going anywhere in August aria, and I said, no. And he said, can you be mayor for ten days? And I said, sure where I get to wear the chain of office, and get some pictures, we joked about what I'd like to do if any counselors came into ask for anything could I put on the chain of office? Tell them to go to hell to call your worship. Is it your worship? Yeah. Yeah. We laughed a vote, those sorts of things thinking, it would never come to anything. Nothing ever happens in August Asher and in fact, during those ten days, my husband and I just to get a break. We, we do stake Asian. Sometimes we go downtown. Stay in a hotel in Detroit around, and shop and bike ride stuff like that. So we did that and I actually turn my phone off the night before in a restaurant, and forgot to turn it back on. So when I woke up at six in. The morning because my phone was bouncing across tax. So for the first two hours after those, the blast happened at about three thirty in the morning, they didn't have a mayor, but the public services symbol. Anyway, they had at that time, Joe Penner Chetty was just a boat to become the city manager. He was covering for city manager, Shirley Hoy. So he got to the war room assembled the baptism. Very. Yeah, yeah, it was amazing. Got all his deputy city managers together and, and the chiefs of all the first responder teams and because it was August. Many of them were the second in commands I, I walked in, and I said, well, in media, they called us the b string. We're bunch of easterners. I'm ceased string. But they did it anyway and dealt with it. Other words of government wanted to descend on it. And my role was mostly keeping them out. Too much work to do you don't get to come here and make a political party out of this the rooms in a lockdown. We gotta get this done, and they were arguing about that right up until about two in the afternoon. We're tragically a firefighter losses life. And it was a weird thing. He was rushing so quickly, literally jumping over back, fences through a block trying to check making sure that there were no more people there evalu- anywhere as best as was and they needed a really quick evaluation before they could sign off on some of the people coming home that night. And when into a heart attack now Bob was pro-, probably getting it was probably getting symptoms, but it just desperately wanted to get this job done and, and help, get people back to where they needed to be. And, and so at heart attack and passed away in the backyard at that moment, other organs of government. Stop bugging me on my cell phone could win. Can we come and stand there with our staff to say, aren't you doing a wonderful job? And said yeah, things are very real now. We have tragedy to deal with. We're not gonna we're not going to speak to the media until five o'clock this evening and. And we'll give them a whole picture. We're hoping that what we're also announcing then is that a lot of the people who are sitting in York Dale mall right now can go home. This is where malls become community infrastructure. Yeah. With. Here's a when there's an evacuate Fairview when there's a power failure. Sure. They have generators, they have to because of the size and the amount of food in them, and so we see them as community infrastructure. And so, thankfully, we were able to say that some people go home by the time we were having that announcement, but the whole next week was about cleaning up some of the closer aftermath..

"So weird. And let me tell you something. Stan. Today's special special ever seen you still get in my life. So it is it's the first of December yesterday was thirtieth of November. Right. Is that how that works? That's all right yesterday. You guys Rubin, Robin. Let's just bring you on and got Robin. Hi, road, heating, and cooling and Rubin. Saltzman structure tech stand your McDaniel polish powerhouse is gone today. But maybe he's listening with his family. I got to hang with him last night. Anyway, super super special special morning. Tis the morning after I accomplished one of the hardest goals I've ever set for myself. I harvested a mature white tail Bach. And I know some people are probably listening thinking to themselves. What is even talking about that? Or I thought this is a home improvement show or just watch Rudolph. The other night. Ruin my Christmas. I know I know I saw the. Well, it's a so for for those that don't grow up in hunting culture, and I'm not one of them. I. By the way. I only archery hunt. So do you have an era sound effect because that's that would be more. But it's hard to understand. It really is. You know, if you don't grow up around grew up in Minnetonka Hopkins always at a area, I was a mall rat reach Dale mall rat. I mean, basically spent all my teenage years at that, arcade. And so I didn't grow up in the culture, and I didn't realize it. But it wasn't until a good friend of mine when I was twenty four years old. His name is Brian Giovane. He actually owns an exterior restoration company. Protect restoration similar to all around. But he said you wanna try shooting my bowl one time. We were just hanging out every now, and I shot it the the feeling that that weapon gave me it gave me this like man like mad, right primitive. It's primitive yet. It's modern. Inaccurate. Right. So it's hard, but they make it. Easy. If that makes sense, whatever I'm rambling, but what I'm getting at is absolutely fell in love with the way. The bow made me feel just something about it. So I started shooting and shooting, and I started target shooting, and I started hunting, and I went to public land, and I would knock on people's doors and ask permission to hunt tonight. I made every mistake you could possibly make trying to harvest a deer. It took me three years to finally actually get my first deer. And then it took me thirteen years to get a mature buck and for the last seven years I've been holding off I have not shot any box because I thought to myself. Well, if you just wait, maybe the right one, oh, come along. Well that came with ours ours ours. Have excruciating just mental games mind games? My wasting my life and my this semester. I really be spending my time sitting in this tree. Should I really is? This really what you should be doing with your life. You have kids missing some of their life. You have a wife you have a business. You have all these things, but something. When I put that goal. I set that goal for myself. There was nothing that was going to stop me. I don't care if it would've taken another ten years. That's what it would've been in the more and more that I did it more pot committed. I got to it. I know you guys. All right. He's telling his dumped ear story. I want you to put your hat on my lap. Charles. The original Charles love those things. Let me tell you a chew on those things in the deer stand, by the way, you're proving you're passionate, no matter. What thank you. It just it took so dang lawn. And then to add insult so to speed ball to the last week a week ago. I had a really good opportunity friend. Let me hunt is property, and I had a good opportunity and I shot twice. I missed a Bucky gave me two chances and I missed him. And I was devastated I lost sleep for three days, and I questioned every single part of my being and more. And I thought well, you know, maybe you shouldn't even be out there if you're gonna miss it twenty yards. So it's like a gimme gimme in cough. That's like a two foot tapping. You just tap the ball in your done, right? Well, the guy said, you know, maybe maybe, you know, maybe you'll get another chance. So I went went back out there week later and this was last night. Sure as heck I got my chance and made it happen. And so I'll spare the details because that's not important. But the important thing it was a good clean ethical fast harvest. And now, we're going to have some back straps. And we're going to have some good steak to eat and shirts. Sure. I'm gonna I'm gonna put him up in my shop, you should. Yup. So we'll be able to look at this memory and always reflect upon it. And I think that I I guess the biggest takeaway is what's a trophy to somebody? Maybe it's big big Antlers. Maybe it's, you know, a huge fish or whatever it is. But really to be honest with you that thing on the wall or that trophy that people call a trophy. It's nothing without a story. You know, what if somebody said, hey, what's? Hey, that's a cool buck on your while. Hey, that's a big fish on the wall. Where'd you get it what how that happen? And they said, oh I bought at a garage sale. A lot of people. Do I got a garage sale end of conversation? Right. That's a conversation killer. We're done. We're moving on. Right. But when you say, well, I'm glad you asked actually Di have a minute or two because it's kind of a cool story. Right. That's the trophy. That's it. That's the takeaway right there. And if you're not. Taking that in and living it and enjoying it. And just savouring that moment and telling that story, then you really missing the point. And and you're missing out on a lot of it. And that's all I have to say about that. So yes, today's a special day, I do feel like a different person. I feel like redemption happened and. I think we have a home improvement radio show to do right? Yeah. It's kind of fun. Charles has got a big smile on his face. Happy guy today. It is permit grin. Oh, well, Anna party. It's been awhile haven't I haven't drank quite quite sometimes I had some at food booze a fruit bruise last night and a couple of whiskies the neighbors all came over everybody from rattlesnake bottom. That's that's our little code code name for the dirt road. We live on all the neighbors. They helped us drag it hang it. You know, just celebrate. I mean, we hung out till three in the morning globally. You need a nap. Three in the Mon. And so correct one thing gonna take more than a minute to tell the story with that trophy on the wall. Ten or twelve right? Exactly. That's exactly what it took this whole segment. But no, you're absolutely right. Have a minute. Relative term, right. Because it might take a few more minutes in that tell you what here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna set us up for after the break. Here..
