"In the preseason I think we are playing poker in one of the rooms and make recorder I was very upset with something and so he started throwing beer balls out of the window. I don't know why. And we were not going to do it. It was a Mike Miller selling. And Nick will go to society behind the door. So it means public chance Marty McKinney's and Travis Greene. And Mike Miller goes, you're a fox. You guys are out. So mid realize that, you know, we got in trouble. So he tried to fight Mike really in all the way. And I think that's the last time for the play for the islands. But that was very much how to break it up. How did that all play out? Yeah, my name is Charles green, tried to break it up. That's old school hockey. And then the funniest thing was make was so mad. So next morning, we walk everybody, everybody we're supposed to meet a lobby. And we got this big garbage bags as a team. I have to go pick up all the mixed garbage in a parking lot in all the bottles and shit. And then it's seen the telephone hanging off the window on the cable. Hey, I had one more question about that. 93 run. I mean, you beat Pittsburgh this amazing upset and I always wonder for guys in that game. What was your reaction? What do you remember about the Dale hunter hit on your best player Pierre turns on after he scored that OT winner? I mean, one of the dirtiest plays in NHL history. I wonder if you remember that, right? Right off the top of your head. Oh, I remember, you.

"And you look at the opportunity in London and pro environment and all those different things and, you know, I just kind of I felt like the timing was right and things have worked out obviously so yeah. Is either sign or restraining order or with the London nights, I guess, right? Exactly. That's a little bit aggressive. How do you been scouting you a ton of time beforehand? Is that why? Yeah, so I mean, the year before, when I played for the marlies, you know, he'd been scouting me a ton and then at Christmas, the year I was playing for Sioux City, I went and played for the under 17s. Ontario and I had a great tournament. And that's kind of when the process kind of picked up even more. I went to the memorial cup when they had hosted it and won. And they were trying to get me to come then. And I don't know how I turned it down, honestly. When you look at the 10,000 fans in the arena and it was just, you know, I got a chance I was 15 years old and I wasn't able to go out on Richmond road yet, but I saw what was happening. And I'm like, how do I turn that down? I did. But I ended up coming a year later and obviously a great decision. You know, worked out, so a lot of fun. We just mentioned tapes. We also played with Patrick Kane up there in Sergei kostin. So you guys put up almost 400 points collectively at about 60 games. It was just toying with the opposition up there. 43 minutes a game. Honestly, so I remember we had a we're playing against Plymouth in the playoffs. And they were the real deal James Neal and Jared bowl and they just used to run around like animals and I think Neil took a 5 minute major on canner and just killed him. And we're out there for probably four minutes and 20 seconds and we came to change and Dale told us to stay. And so it was just one of those situations like when we were on the power play, we were staying no matter how long the power play was. We stayed out the whole time. So it helps you get a few points if you're playing 5 minute power plays. But yeah, it was a lot of fun, no question about that. Any full Russian modes from castilla and sometimes those guys, those boys to get out of control. I mean, I don't know if you keep up with the KHL cowboys, but those guys like to have a good time, man. Yeah, no, he was, he had a good time. I mean, I think he was 19 years old at the time. And he had his own apartment, which was kind of unheard of. And as an OHL, you normally had a billet, so yeah, he was, he was awesome to play with, honestly. In the OHL, he was a wrecking ball, and he scored, he played on the penalty kill. You know, I mean, I think when you look at the talent he had, you know, you expected him to have a great NHL career and he wanted to play games and but yeah, I mean, you know, playing with him in canner at the junior level was, you know, obviously a lot of fun. What's kaner like at that point? I mean, is he worse than kostitsyn? I didn't even mean off ice. I'm just more thinking of him dangling around in practice laughing at everyone. No, he was great. He made, he made that league look easy. We were, I think we were tied in points heading to the world juniors and then he came back, he had a great world juniors and he just kind of took off once he had figured out the league. It became, you know, he was getting two, three points every night. And yeah, it was, you know, there were so many questions at that point. I think when he came into the league, it was like, he was ranked in the fourth round or something like that. And to look back on now, it's silly. He ends up going first overall and plays the next year and he's winning cups and const mites, you know, right after that. So he's a special talent. You've mentioned your coach Dale hunter, were you familiar? He must have been familiar with his reputation as a tough player. Did that kind of make him scary as a coach in any way? He was really good to us. I'm sure that there's, you know, some of our fourth line guys probably felt the heat a little more than we did. He just kind of let us play. And try to teach us to be pros and, you know, I thought he did a great job with us. You know, when I made it to NHL, and I'm intent, I felt ready because of the different things that I went through in London. But certainly, you hear all the stories of what he was like as a player and, you know, you watch some of the clips, you know, you see the hit on turgeon and different things like that. I mean, and the cool part was my dad was an assistant coach for the team as well. So he got all the, you know, the stories Dale would, you know, they'd sit in the room and tell stories. So he would come home and tell me some of the stories and it was just, you know, have me on the floor laughing. He was, yeah, a lot of funny ones for sure. He didn't know church on score, though. So I don't know. It was 15,000 in the crowd going on, but he didn't know. He didn't hear the whistle I heard. I was going to ask you about your dad. You've mentioned him twice now. So when you would be playing in minor hockey and use your coach Dan on these car ride homes, would you guys just go back and forth about your game, what he saw, what you.

"Whole buffalo goalie situation. They've used 6 goalies already. Michael Hauser was supposed to stop the other night. He had to go into the COVID protocol, but then Craig Anderson got healthy, so they started 40 year old Craig Anderson, the 6 different goalies they've used, but back to that hit. I mean, what's he thinking there, man? I love dirty goalies from the old school, but that was such a dangerous hit the way the guy was coming in so close to the boards. Yeah, and obviously bathers had not expecting it. The worst is when you see the skate blade get caught in the boards and then the way it twists and I thought he broke his ankle. I think that if goalie's come out of their crease and if they want to increase scoring, make them fair fucking game. Stay in your fucking net, just like lacrosse. You want to come out of your net and play the puck? I mean, they created the trapezoid area so they could play it and they didn't want them going to the corners because you'd see guys like broder or Mike Smith, basically a third defenseman and go back and grab it. Make a make them at least the above the goal line where if you put it below the goal line they can't go there. And in this situation, I think he was kind of like right near the goal line, but just a gutless move. I would have liked to have seen a bit of a dust up after that. You may think I'm exaggerating. I swear to God, I think that hit is up with Dale hunter on Thursday and claw them on Chris Draper. That was a fucking scumbag. Scumbag move by arundel. And his what he said after was actually such a joke because if that's I don't even know any random goalie in the league, took a rash, I'm just trying to figure somebody and says, they're like, oh, I was trying to give space to my defenseman, like, okay, possibly. Aaron Dell like two weeks before that skated 40 feet outside the zone in Nashville and ran somebody over. It's like this dude was blatantly. Did you see that clip is? No, I never saw that. Oh my God, you two of it right now. YouTube it right now, and two weeks later he does this to batherson, who's having this career year. He's on the four check. He's not even that close to the defenseman, and out of nowhere, a goalie who can't be hit in the game decides to bury a guy who has no clue it's coming and ruins his whole season. Maybe it's because he had in a high ankle sprain and that was the beginning of the with dogs end. Is the high ankle sprain? I never recovered. So I'm very sensitive to the fact, but are you fucking serious? A goaltender? You're sitting there and you just bury this guy for no reason? And when he said, I was just trying to create some space for my defenseman. It's like, no, you weren't dude because you'd already proven that you've been hitting guys this season. Go look at the clip I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure it was in Nashville. So granelli is gonna pull it up along with these other stats that he sent me over. Just a car. Oh, just a dirtbag hit. I feel bad for basket. Senators fans are some of the most ruthless online. So they've created this term getting sensed. And all of a sudden, Aaron Dale got put on waivers a few days later, so they were just all over them on the Twitter machine. Some of the other stats though I was going to ask you guys a question. Who are the other three guys who are the fastest defenseman to a hundred career assists? I mean, number four. No I'm gonna go Paul coffee. No, it's actually that's why I asked you guys because it's such a bizarre list. Larry Murphy, you might not get one name of the three guys before. Larry Murphy? Nope. What? Lidstrom? I mean, if I'm saying, if you're saying we might not get one name, I don't know what we should be here all night. Retired, great call. James played one 27. The next one Mark Howell with Hartford, April 1st, 1981, a 135 games and Stefan person. What? The islanders in March 22nd, 17 Jesus Christ, going back to the fight, going back to the medieval times. March 22nd, 1979 and that was in a 135 games also on the car did it January 30th, 2022 with a 140 games. So a lot of these names that you guys mentioned below. Mcinnis was next in line, Larry Murphy, Adam Fox, Quinn Hughes, Brian leech and then Phil housley, but really cool though you see Adam Fox Quinn Hughes and kit kell mccart, like three guys that are on a list with these types of names that are now defensive in the national hockey. So we're seeing a wave of this offensive defenseman where we're going to be seeing some very special things from guys from the back end for years to come. I know we got went back on the whole stat thing. Now, I would like to see this clip if you send it to the group chat. Yeah, we've been pretty pretty blessed with on that front. I know you just said that Dell did get waved. And the suspension obviously cost him a few bucks. And that's less money to invest in his future with. That's certainly right, all right. And that's why I'm here to talk to you guys again about all to. And I had this career in the NHL where I was lucky enough to make some money, but the entire time, right from the beginning, I thought about my future. I thought about putting money away, which is what everyone should do. And I know a lot of people may say they don't love how much money they're making at the time and they need most of what they're making to live while I'll do it. I do whatever whatever you can to save a little bit and that's where all tool comes in. There are a lot of options out there in terms of investing your money for.

"This is awesome. So he's like, everything's happening, right? And he likes and he goes, hey, to me, sensitive mccarty gets one more fight he's out of the game. He go ahead, right? I go no, no, it's not accurate. I said he only got a double minor. The first time. And he did so, Marty, dude. Right. He was a double diner. So that was the biggest thing he should have been out of the game. By the end of that, because they gave him a double minor for jumping claw the mule, and he should have got to the instigator. All of it and throwing out, but he stayed in. And like you said, it was kind of like the turnaround. Completely. I'll be honest about that situation. That's crazy of things I've done in my career. I knew we were doing the wrong thing. I knew that was a need to fight that team because we weren't built to beat them up. I played on tough teams in Washington, especially with ruby Allen may. I mean, there were 7 or 8 guys ahead of me to fight on the avalanche. I'm looking. There's like four of us that are in the same category here. It was an entirely different team. And it was a big mistake. And I had a conversation with Mark Crawford about it after. I said, we did the wrong thing. We should have let clothe get beat up. You take a few punches. Okay. And let's move on. But the fact that our guys were so competitive, they were just and they're invested in a probably more than I was because I wasn't there the year before. Yeah, yeah. I had a different perspective on what about I feel like the most interesting man in the world, Peter forsberg. So many people wonder about him, but he's not in the public eye, but when he was on, I mean, one of the greatest players ever and you witnessed that right in the I played on the same line as Peter because Claude was out. So I was my linemate when I arrived there. I never, I mean, I had so many tap ins. It was crazy. And he was such a great guy. And he loved when I would get other players going on the opposition. He knew that I'd have his back. I had to fight that Todd Simpson once again Calgary because he had Peter. And I jumped in there and I got killed, right? But that's what you want to do. I always tell the tough guy on the other team. You want to fight me hit our best player. I'll be right. I'm going to fight. I'm not going to fight you because you're asking me to watch it. But you do something, I'm going to fight you, and I'm going to lose, but it's okay. And that's the way Peter always liked that part of it. We were great friends. He came to brantford with me once we landed in Toronto. He goes, where you live around here? I go, yeah, just down the road. He goes, let's go. And we went and stayed the night, my hometown, and he went out to the bar, local bars, what he's pub and grub. And there's Peter forsberg and these guys and couldn't believe that they would see him in that environment, right? So friendly. Just the best. He was just a great guy. I room with Joe sack and complete with Joel. We were on the second line there was Adam deadmarsh myself and of course Joe in the middle. And then we had forsberg at center on the top line with Valerie Kaminsky called lemu. And we had Mike Ricci, Scott young and Rene Courbet. I mean, this team is incredible that the one three three of the book that surprised me was like how you said that Patrick wow was far and above the best leader that you'd ever played with. And probably the most intense guy you've ever seen. He was. Joel was a great captain because he allowed other people to lead as well. And Patrick was one of the best leaders with Dale hunter another one that just commanded everyone's attention. You had a good game. It wasn't that you scored two goals or it was if you did all the little things right and he recognized it. You could have a game where you didn't have a goal and he'd come up and he'd go you had a great game tonight. And you did. It wasn't both so you're so he would be dialed into the whole play all game. All game. His mind was what separated from my coach. And I think he's like he would be such a great coach, especially now that he's had experience in the NHL. He was phenomenal that way of the most respect for the way that he handled a locker room. Penalty killed he was in charge of. He'd bring the guys in and draw stuff up. I'd never seen that from a goaltender. And I know they've pasted a few sees on goalies before in the past, but he was a true captain. And Joel was a great captain because he allowed other people to lead and he didn't have to be the only voice. And that's a great part of leadership as well. Is that because guys who they are or how they say what they're saying? Is it a little bit of accommodation? It's about how they say it. It's just the fact you know when you've done something a small thing really well that helped the team win. Right. And maybe it's a block shot. Maybe it's a little simple play along the wall, getting the puck out of the defensive zone. Or maybe it's staying disciplined at a time where you may have retaliated. He saw all of that. And I hadn't seen that before. I got you from a goal. From a goalie, right? And I've always felt like I was smart enough player to know what was needed at a certain time. And he just had he took that to a whole other level. Actually, do you know one part of that ESPN game? Well, the Detroit Colorado game, the replay of that night. Remember ESPN used to replay the game later that night. They actually edited out that whole the whole fight sequence because I was in college at the time and we all watched the live of course we didn't know what was gonna happen. This is pre Internet pre whatever. And we all put the replay on 3 o'clock in the morning because we just don't college and they edited the game like and they took that whole fight sequence out of the game they replayed it later the night, which is kind of a fun fact. At three in the morning fun fact. Yeah, I like it. Hello, it can be 23 in the afternoon. But he forgot who won. Watch it again. There you go. Boys, I don't know if you want to move to the reason we're here in Philadelphia if you had any more Colorado questions. But again, it's a shitty it's a shitty one, but you guys had a three one series lead to Edmonton the next season. Well, you guys are still a cup contender. We blow that lead and you're out in the first round. I mean, I have a lot of those memories, actually. Thanks for bringing that up. I was on three teams. Three different organizations that were up three one in a series and lost. Shit. It happened to me. It actually happened. The reason I think it happened because my first year in Washington, when I started in the minors, I got called up for the playoffs. And I knew I wasn't going to get in the lineup and we're just skating every day. Barry trots to skate this. And the capitals were up three one over the penguins. This is a 92. And I'm like, man, I don't know if I'm enjoying this a whole lot. Like I'm not really part of the team. I wouldn't mind like this thing ending sometimes, so I can go home and enjoy my summer. So I'm basically doing a little low 5 every time the penguin score, you know?.

"And collapses. And he decided to travel. Ten feet he went and collapsed. It was one of the best moments ever. Imagine me, imagine that being on video now. We could ever get. Well, he didn't always though, because the best picture of him online, he's in warmups, you can tell with no bucket or with the law. But then he's got the circle ball, a little hair up top. Yeah. To know he cared that much. He must fuck. He literally would show up for practice about 5 minutes before it started. Throw all his gear on. He was a natural he throws his gear on he jumped on the ice and he was unbelievable. He was like, he was the guy. One O 5, he would be fast, right? He could skate all day, so he raced in Washington at our practice rank. He raced a female speed skater. They're going to have this race. The battle of the sexes race or something back in the day. And he raises her. And he loses by like three full trips around the rink. That's like he gets past three times and he's a smoker, right? He was good for one lap, his little feet were going as fast as he could, and it was unbelievable, but he was open and willing to do anything that he was asked to do. So he was another phenomenal teammate that we played with. And they had Kevin hatcher back in Washington in those days. Ally of radia and Silva and Cote and all three defensemen scored over 20 goals in that season. I think the first time ever. Yeah, it had to be. At your head 34, I afraid of having that at 34 goals when you have to look it up because that's my memory is, but I afraid he had 20 something and colter at over 20. And Callie Johansson had 12. That's our defense. The only other guy that pops in my mind we haven't talked about from Washington was berube. Yeah, he's the best. And you play with them a little bit. Oh yeah. A lot of bottom 6, right? Yeah, I play with him and he did more to defend me than any person in the world. I mean, this guy is one of my he's my best buddy. He's the best. So I remember when he got traded to the caps. It's one of the first TV broadcasts of the draft. As on TSN, and I'm sitting at home in branford, and I'm like, we could use a little more protection around here. One of my second year, right? Call. My list was getting a little short. You call it. We need some protection. So I want to film my agent. So I look at David. I look at David Boyle's, I read his lips, Craig bar rubies, talking to the guy from Calgary, right? The GM and I'm like, yeah. Do it, do it, man, so all of a sudden they announced a capital's ever trade to announce they've acquired Craig by ruby from the Calgary flames. And I'm like, that guy's going to be my best friend. And I mean, as soon as you meet Greg ruby, he is. The consummate teammate, we watched hockey together all the time, Dale hunter, myself. And chief, we sat around, grabbing a few chicken wings, drinking beer, and all we did was watch other games and we'd watch the sabers a lot when ray May and barnaby be fighting all the time and I'd be telling chief those guys are gonna kick your ass, you know what it was just everything was just about the game. And it was a beautiful time and all of our lives because that's what we did. And then she best bodies Boston balls. All the time. And he'd be betting me. He's gonna score more goals than I am that year. And I got him, I got him a suspension for ten games once play in the rangers. Nick kept reels. I was due up. I'm on the bench. I got one leg over. Bond jump Ivanka. My line mates are already on the ice and kip reels kind of clipped bandra. So I say, chief, you're up, right? In the middle of the middle of the shift. So he gets up, he jumps on the AC skates over the cape Rios and attacks him, right? He gets a ten game suspension for leaving the bench. To get in an altercation, show me the coach gets fined. And they're trying to get him for a suspension as well. The cost Peruvian like 25 grand in the thing, but the caps ended up back in those days. You could kind of make those things okay. You could even things up, not in the salary cap era, right? But that was what chief would do. Anything that the team needed, he did. And that's why he's had a great career and is doing such a great job as a coach as well. You must have chatted with him since I watching him win the Stanley Cup. I saw you have the poster with him raising the cup and you're in your man cave outside near the pool. Just a great friend forever. Yeah. He is. And that was for me as close as I came to win in the Stanley Cup. I was there covering it, obviously I'm being partial, but I wanted that. I wanted to see him win that thing. And when he did, it was a great thing. And it's the only time I've ever gone downstairs in locker room after a standing Cup championship and just to congratulate him. It was on the road, so there was very few people there. And just share a Bud Light there and then talk about that experience. That was a great thing. Very, very great moment for him. I'll go ahead, all right. I don't know if you have one more. I was gonna say closest to this deal and cut might be a good segue to the Colorado trade unless she had something I wanted to hear about how the trade went down because I read that story in the book as well..

"It was, I think it was November 3rd. If I'm not mistaken, but anyway, for playing the Chicago Blackhawks and the warm ups, I have a couple buddies come from college, because western Michigan is not that far away from Indianapolis. And I'm skating around the warm up, no helmet on, you know, I'm looking at myself in the glass, thinking I got it going on, you know, like this is cool and skating around and my buddy yells over the glass jonesy. And as he does that, I look up, I step on a puck and I go head first into the boards. And I'm like, oh my God, this night's not going to go well, man. So I get up, I get my I'm okay. And my first shift of the game, I score. And it's against Eddie Belfort. It's a scramble, it's a terrible goal, but it's like it happened. It happened, man. It happened. And the battling with dirt gram all night that night and he was a mean guy. He was tough to say he was mean to. Yes. He was. And he was mean to play against, but I had to do that, right? So I ended up getting a goal and two assists in that game. I think we won four to two or something like that. So I'm like, this is awesome, right? It's like my third game. And then I ended up getting 9 points in my first ten games. And I remember thinking to myself, is this really the NHL? That heart? Like I can do this, right? But we are playing with it. I was playing with Dale hunter and pad Ellen. And we're the third line. We've got the good matchups. He was getting a little older by then. He was, but he was still a great player. And Dale was really influential in my career, great advice. I took his brother's job. Mark hurt himself broke his thumb. And that's how I got the job. When he left that game in van. And Dale took me under his wing and just like he said, you can play, you know, he just told me we got a two second rule of someone's on top of me, you gotta be there in two seconds to make sure that was the deal. And we both played a pesky story. And neither of us really wanted to be fighting heavyweights. So we would just make sure if there was one out there we would do enough to each other. Distract them. And Dale told me a great story, which I'll share with anyone that's listening. When I looked a little hesitant to fight one night, he said, the next day we're at dinner, I'm sitting at his kitchen table at his house and he goes, hey jonesy. He goes, you want to stay in this league? You know, you want to stay here? Yeah, I do really badly. He goes, well, here I want to tell you something. If somebody walked into this kitchen and there's 500 grand on the table, if they grab the money and walk out, what are you going to do? You're going to fight them for it, or are you going to let them walk out? I said, I'm going to fight them for it. He goes good, start fighting. Yeah, that's the advice that what a veteran to sit there and tell a guy who can tell you wanted it and he's like, you know, it's not an easy conversation to have with somebody. No, something you never forgot. No, and again, I took his brother. I was taking his brother's job, who was still down, sent down to Baltimore at that point, mark's career had already won a Stanley Cup and had a great career and all of a sudden he's in the minors and this 23 year old college kid out of nowhere is playing with his brother on the same line and massages before me. Yeah. Exactly business, you know? He's the best. Dale hunter was very influential. What's arena was an Indianapolis, by the way, got it. That's a great question. I really don't know. I had to be where Indiana racers were Gretchen. Well, that's because when we had a street hockey tournament Detroit, the Covington, Kentucky, this crew actually went and got the boards from the oh sorry, they came from the Gretzky area, the place where we played in Indianapolis, so I was wondering if I better my Friends a bell, but I mean, when you're playing, you show up. Yeah, exactly. There's the locker room. Where's my equipment? Let's go. You know. We're guys like hack and darts when you showed up. Yeah. Ally of Friends. Yeah. And played with Al. Al with small Al with smoke on the plane. This is when we flew. We flew charter flights, right? Three rows that could smoke. Yes, roll 14, right? Yep. And the back rolls would be able to smoke. And alw would smoke on the plane and was just an incredible guy. I mean, because I was a rookie and a storyteller. Tough. Storyteller, but have your back and pay for everything. Really? Extremely generous guy. If we went to dinner, he'd know that you didn't have a lot, you know, he'd buy. He'd always carry it like a wad of cash in his front pocket, and would just give it to everybody. He didn't like any clicks on the team. He was always like, you know, we do this together. He was just an awesome at a character beyond belief. He'd light his cigarettes after the game of the blowtorch. He break off the filter, they break the filter off and he smoke it. They all start gaming brought like one stick with them. They asked him why did you do that? You know he said, well, my others would get jealous if I have too many. It's like some of the crazy WWE with the hair too. Well, I was like very conscientious of his hair. And it was terrible. So we were playing. This is unbelievable playing against the Devils. And the long boards there that extend inside the zone and the devil's bench, the glass, the barrier there before they put the curve in there. He gets hit and he's riding the end of the boards on his pants, right? And then he runs into the stanchion with his helmet his head. Helmet flies off, lands about ten feet away, right? This guy wore his helmet in the warmup so people wouldn't see that he was going bald. Like during the national anthem. He would wear his helmet. So the helmet's ten feet away and we're all watching how's this going to play out, right? So he's down on it all fours, and he crawls. Ten feet, right? He gets his helmet, and he puts it on his head.

"The season was going to be against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The only meeting of the year that the capitals would be in Toronto. I told you earlier leaf fan. Everything I did was a maple leaf fat. I just want that game. I don't know if I can play in the NHL, but if I'm going to play one game and fail, I want that game to be in Toronto. If I never make it. So I have this argument, not argument, but just this convincing conversation with David poyle, but why I made the team, I want to be on this team. I don't know if I made the team. This is just what I'm saying because I want to play that one game. So I leave the median and David tells others later. I hear that he couldn't believe he's never had a meeting with a player that wanted it so bad. But I just wanted to show my buddies that I made it to the NHL. It really wasn't that complicated, right? I just want to swear so some kid behind the glass like me can go running up and talk about it. Exactly. So I got sent down and I'm thinking, Matt, I want to get back up there quick because riding that bus wasn't fun. I played, I played the first 8 games of the season with the skipjacks. And Friday night games, Saturday night game, bossing in between, and then busing to an afternoon game on Sunday. I'm 23. My windows small, I got to do this. That's in those 80s. I had a point again. Yeah, what was this? You had 7 goals three assists. Okay. So the last game that I played for the skipjacks for Barry trots, we lost ten to 8. Against the Utica Devils. I had two power play goals in the game, and I was -7. Hey, were you at a great one after if you're in the shower? -7, okay? The last goal goes in the net and the buzzer went before the empty netter. And to make it ten, 8. And the buzzer went. I'm still upset about it. So I'm chasing after the ref. The game's over. Yelling at him. Barry trod scraps because what are you doing? I go on F and -7. Right? That's the only thing on my mind. So that was the last minute to the coach. Josie. You're a fucking idiot. Oh, yeah. So I'm out of your mind. I'm crazy about it. So he's like, I never saw it the next day. I had two roommates that I lived with in the miners. Rob Lee can Trevor halverson. Trevor holson was a first round pick of the caps. There were my roommates. I have the loft upstairs in this apartment. I knew the capitals had injuries, and I'm thinking, I'm getting close. And I'm arguing with Barry trots every day. I got to get called up. That's like, I don't know why I was so crazy about it, right? Every time I'd score, I'd be looking at them. You know, it's time. So this is comedy. So I'm listening. I had a yellow Walkman. Remember those things? I'm up in the loft because I don't want my roommates to know that I'm such a geek that I'm listening to the capitals game hoping that somebody gets hurt or something bad happens that I'm going to get the call. And they're playing in Vancouver. So it's a late game. So I'm listening on the radio at my Walkman and all of a sudden I hear Kevin Miller gets a 5 minute major for spirit. I knew he was kind of in the dog house and I was like, that's good because he was just traded for dinos cicarelli of the year before and wasn't playing well. And I'm like, this is all right. So that's good. And then I hear Mark hunter just leaves the game, Dale hunter's brother. He blocked a shot. I'm like, oh, this is good. This is good. Still have. Still have my walk but not, right? So all set my roommates Tapping me on the shoulder. And I'm listing the capitals game when this my roommate has, hey, it's David poyle, he's on the phone. As I'm listening to them play a game in Vancouver. He says, go hello. Hey, it's David poyle. Keith, we want you at the airport tomorrow at BWI in Baltimore. You've got a 7 a.m. flight to Calgary. And I'm like, yes. This is amazing to me. I can't believe it. So I'm so excited. I don't feel. I don't sleep the whole night, right? I get to the airport. I'm going through the check in. I look over there, Steve kind of wall check. I'm like, damn, he's going too, right? I'm making my end, or is he in? Fucking me the whole way on the plane, right? I fly all the way to Calgary. We get there. And Terry Murray's the coach and he's like, it brings us both there and he's like, we're not sure if you guys are going to be playing tonight or not. I'm like, well, what's that all about? He goes, we just don't know, go get a rest and I haven't slept on. I am not going to sleep now. So go back to the hotel still don't know if we're in the lineup or not. Get to the game and he tells us when we arrive. You're both in, you're both playing tonight. And I'm like, this journey to get you. Is here, right? So I get my Jersey on, and I'm like, I'm so excited to do this, right? So I look in the mirror and Calgary at a little smaller rank there. And I'm looking in the mirror and I'm just like, I can't believe this is going to happen. Step on the ice warm up kit. The Kim make a pass. Drop it. It was embarrassing. Game starts first shift, go up to hit the O three. Elbows me breaks my tooth in half. First shot to the NHL. And I'm like, yeah, I'm all about this, man. Maybe this isn't for me, right? And it was really hurt. I just remember chasing around Gary Roberts and all these guys that would just kill me, right? But I just wanted that soul. Chirping, right? That was always part of it. And they're all really, it was nonstop every year. Trying to scrum it up in front of the net. Yeah, a lot of it again was just to try to gain an advantage and make myself more important than just being an average player. And all of that, I played better when I had fear and pushed me into another level. Yeah, look like the money to your sister. That's it. It was all about, I have to stay here, right? Same here. I played scared my whole NHL career. Yeah, and it's not a great feeling uncomfortable feeling, but it brings you to bring something out of you. Well, it's the saying, you're getting too comfortable. It's just, I certainly, I certainly got that way, but you have such an incredible memory. You remember all these great. I wish I could I wish I had that talent, but you gotta tell me about the first goal because I'm sure it was somebody you'll never forget. Yeah, it's true. It was a game in Indianapolis. It was a neutral site game. Yes, we used to play two a year. Trying to grow a crowd in indie? Yeah. So they were trying to make we went to Halifax before they'd play 84 games in the regular season, not 82. So they would add these two games more revenue and try to build a game, right? So it's an Indianapolis. I've never been back. It's the only time I've ever been in Annapolis. And my puck actually has like the neutral zone. Neutral game emblem, and rather than the teams ambulances you would have scored a Toronto maple leaf, whatever. So it was my third game in the NHL..

"Now I'm going wild the head spinning, right? And I'm like, is that close enough for you? And he comes over to me and he goes, you know, you're in April. Yeah. I said, but, you know, you're showing his guy, you know, like it's just I said some really bad things. I wish I could take you in personal. I just went nuts about it and showing he was a fitness not coach and he'd always do his push ups. He was in way better condition than I was. And they do sit up, so I told Keith, I said, why don't you go and help show me? I think he just finished his sit ups. You can help lift him up off the ground, you know? So that's really terrible things to say. So we're going back and forth and now I lose it and I go, why don't you get off the F and ice all skate the guys? And he left. And he went off the ice. And now I'm looking around. I'm going all right, now what? I know I'm in a lot of trouble. I don't think he was going to leave. Yeah, he left. So I started skating the guys. So all of us are doing the suicide notes, the blue line back, red line by blue line back, and I've never hustled and worked so hard in my life. So it ends, and I know I'm in trouble, right? So come off the ice and Todd button was the assistant coach at that time with shorty and Todd's waiting for me. He goes, hey, show me he wants to see a type like really? That's a surprising to me. So I have my shirt off, got my hockey pants on still on my equipment. My gut's hanging out over my pants. And I walk into his office and he's like, did you say that I'm such and such? Like some of the things I said you would never say to a boss and I know and you should never. So I said, yeah, that's correct. And so then he started going over how you get to the point where you're a healthy scratch and he's explained it to me. Here's what we rated you the last game two out of 5 key fed two out of 5. Todd hedge a two out of 5. I could hold on here. All three of you guys came up with the exact same number. I can't believe that these two guys have the same number as you have. You know what I'm saying? So I'm not done yet. I should have just shut up, right? So he's like, get the hell out of my office and I left his office. It turned into a long few days. I can tell you that. But how many games ended up getting scratched? Just the one. Okay. Just the one. And to be honest with you, the story gets a little bit longer, but we lost the next game in Boston. And now we're in New Jersey and we're staying at the embassy suites. So you can see everybody. Everybody's room, you know, you can see where everyone's at. We've been now we're losing. So he's like, nobody leave their room until you meet with us in the conference room. And then you can go do whatever you want to do in the day we're not practicing. We had a whole day off. So I'm like, okay, so I sat in my room. From 8 a.m. to 11 o'clock at night. So every player went in and this is hanging over my head because I'd had this outburst, right? So I get a call from Joe Juno. He says, hey, Sony asked me who I wanted to play with and I told him I want to play with jonesy. So two hours later, I got Michael pav calls me. Joni asked me who I wanted to play with. I told him I want to play with jonesy. Another two hours Dale hunter calls me, hey, Sean he asked me, I told him I want to play with jonesy. Because I had told him I want to be traded and I just said this crazy outburst. So at 11 o'clock at night, I get the call to come down to this conference room and show me an intimidating man. He's right across from any looks at me and he goes, you still want to be traded. And I said, you know, I did. But since all the guys called me and said they want to play with me right decided I'm gonna stay. So you've now tripled down. This is it. I just can't stop myself, right? So he looks at me. He looks really at the 5th head, fist, you know? He wasn't a handshake. He gave you a little fist thing. The hairy knockout. He was a German. He was way ahead of his time. He was a German germaphobe. That's why I did it. Yeah, yeah. So he gave me that and I give him this one. Yeah, you're bowing. Yeah. So I walked out of the room, I gave Keith Elena wink on the way out of the room. Back in the lineup. True story. Is that the craziest thing? And I was making at that time 300 grand a year. I thought I was rich. Like I thought I had a great money, but I thought this is like I'm set for life. This is what I was thinking. I was so brain dead. Now we know why shiny went after co host so hot. He was a fitness, not about the donuts. They can actually happen on the donut. So did it get awkward? Jonesy, the play had to play Jones at the agent. The agent handled it a lot better than the player. That's for sure. The agent chuck, he chucked the briefcase and that was it. But you mentioned in that story, branford Ontario. So I guess the most second most famous hockey player ever from Bradford. There's about 9 more ahead of me. Man, I've been looking at that list. I told Gretzky. I told I said, hey, we're the highest scoring duo in the history of the NHL from the same town. And then I looked it up, there's like 9 guys from branford ahead of me. So I need to claim that. Chris gratins from there. Oh no way. Doug Jarvis is from there. The Iron Man, it's incredible the number of records are held from guys from brantford, right? Small town, right? There's 77,000 people. I would say that I was probably the least likeliest to find my way to the NHL I played junior C hockey. I read your I read at least the beginning of your book. It takes me a while. You're the forward business. He fell asleep. I got the Cole's notes, but yeah, like you were never super hyper focused on it where you would take your summers completely off. You enjoyed just being around the guys, especially during your junior C days. You guys are playing 30 games this season. Yeah. So you'd be done by the end of March and you would take from them to training camp completely off what was the title of that chapter, beers and chicken wings? I haven't read it. I don't recommend anyone reads it. Well, it was a great 5 reading level, so I figured it was right up my alley. It is. It is, yeah, so I was yeah, I played hockey because I love playing hockey. And I didn't do anything else. I never thought of the show. Never, I was playing junior C hockey. I was 17 years old and 18 years old. I went back. You know, I tried out for junior junior B on a team that rob Blake played for in my hometown called the branford classics. And I thought I'd make the team. You know, I was a good hockey player through midget. I was good. I wasn't great. I was smaller, 'cause I hadn't grown yet. I was a late bloomer. But I just thought I'd make the team and they cut me. And I was like, oh, now what do you do? And then I got a letter in the mail junior C hockey in Paris Ontario. It's like 15 minutes outside of branford. I'm like, well, I guess I'll try out there and see what happens. So I tried out for the team, barely made the team, and then all of a sudden started the.

"Take it and go see one of those who said. Bumbling english guy does romantic comedies. Take it a one of those and see what happens. I think he did the right thing. You left out the part when he said tag in like. You didn't get a fucking big laugh. I think it was so funny. She got into her feelings. As so i i think i think that one's a victory. You know what i mean. I think you scored the game winning goal and then who's at goat cross. Check that guy after. He scored the goal in the playoff. Dale hunter kind of dale hundred year. With the who would wanna sleep with you. Check into the boards right things. I should not have said things. I should not have said. Hey red velvet bill. I don't even know what that means. But that just sounds creepy. Where am i before my battery runs out. Okay i get like eight minutes left here. Okay here. We go when i was in the ninth grade. I had a health teacher who was an asshole. It was mainly attract coach. So he didn't give a shit about his classes and we'll talk down to anybody who wasn't in track. Jesus was great description. Already hate this guy. One day i had to stay after school. A makeup for an assignment failed because it was a group project in the party did care or do their work. I tried to explain to him but he said sounds like Sounds like that's a personal prob- so i just stared at him until he went what i just said you're a dick nice. He proceeded to give a fifty percent every assignment for the rest of the year and failed me. I didn't give a shit about having to retake class. But my mom wouldn't help get me a license for all of highschool for failing class so i had to wait until i was nineteen to get one. Wow old school parenting there so kept my mouth shut and done his assignment so i wouldn't have to ask for so many rides. Thanks for everything you do and go fuck yourself. Something fucked that guy. He's a deck and he didn't give a shit in a really important job teaching people so he is addicted told him. Let's go. you said what you felt. You got you licensed now gives a shit. You've got a great story. Good for you stand by that one number two a billy butter cheeks. Can i just want to get this off my chest. A few years ago i was working in arizona and the company provided me and my two roommates with an apartment. One roommate was a dude who i got along with. The other was an insufferable lady who never shut up and thought she was way funnier than she actually was. Well that's fun to be around. Needless to say she annoyed the shit outta me boy and this nice ass apartment. My room happen to have a balcony connected to it. It was the sole property of my room. You could not get to it except by walking through my worm. one night. I had a few friends over and we went to the balcony to have a few drinks in a smoke. All of a sudden. This bitch appears on my balcony and says oh this is where you all are to clarify. She walked through my room. I'm already feel fuming. Wow this is a really nice balcony. she said. And here's the thing. I shouldn't have said fuck fuck that you should go hard here. You should go hardy. Says here's the thing i shouldn't have said. He said she says wow. This is a really nice balcony. So i say yes. It is and it's connected to my room so when the future don't come here unless you're invited well to maybe 'cause you said it in front of all those people. I think it was fucking great. All my friends looked at me. Like i was the reincarnation of hitler it was so silent i could hear them thinking. Did i just hear this motherfucker right well. Because they didn't know the backstory. All she said was fuck you too while fuck kerman loudmouthed. Don't have walk to your bedroom. Look i don't even know these people but the way you guys describe him. I just side with you guys all right and walked away. I spent an hour apologizing. The apartment was tense for the rest of the job. You apologized that support. You shouldn't have said this is where you are. Don't fucking walk through my look. You shouldn't have said it in front. They should've taken us. I said let's do me favor. Walk into your room please. Don't walk into my god. My god that reminds me of one time a long time ago this promoter would just walk into the green room. I did a run dates and just go. Hello allow or just go knock knock and then we'll just walk in and start talking. It's like who raised you. Who the fuck raised you. That's that's like it's not how you enter a room. If people are talking am i crazy. Oh my god that drove me up the fucking wall. Hello allow nat nak. God and i didn't say anything. Because i knew i was too angry. A person back then now. It could have just solved enough to one night stay. He'd be favor rather than saying knock. Knock or just yelling. Hello hello from down the hall. I would appreciate it. That if i'm in mid conversation.

And fifteen goals. You know you played the center position. And that's like being a quarterback in football and it's a guy that has to have good vision. I would assume good instincts. You gotta come back home and keeping your own helping your defenseman. But if i could say quarterback looks more like a goal. You know what i mean. You really need that goal if you don't have a goalie it's pretty hard to win. I'll tell you and but center has a great. You know it's there's a lot more responsibility a little bit more as far as coming back in your own zone as far as getting coming all the way back to help the defensemen in the corners and offensively so Every position are important all lending. Obviously it's it's it is You know you gotta do the job. If you're on the board you gotta beat a job driving a nap. I mean if you're one year center but the center has you know every driver face off to berry down. if you lose that puck. Send the opponent they talk and they're starting with and if you win it then you get position that you could start Creating wits by the way so yeah are obviously. There's a lot of responsibility. But at the same time i love like i said i love that responsibility. I think you've gotta be able to Center a lot of times. You gotta be able to you know make you have a great back in past two or foreign pass. You know if you see someone going wide with speed and So but my job was to create. There's no doubt about having the talk and try love having that try to create offensively and bill the blue line and really slow down the play and try to make the league guy coming in and and But i my my game was to see and try to create offensively and try to create them going chance at buffalo. You were successful. You became a big fan favourite there in one thousand nine hundred ninety. Nhl all star game and then after four seasons. You were traded to the islanders. I don't know an athlete that i have talked to the doesn't say that it stings a little bit when you are traded. It's like maybe they don't want me. What did i do wrong type of thing. What was your reaction to that trade. It's a hard i mean. Obviously the first rate is always the worst one Y because when i started me saw a lot of players thing the same on the same team for many years and when gretzky got traded from from ten to the lay all of a sun. it's gretzky could get traded. There's a lot of people that could get to get traded and you're right it's move because we didn't expect it then Hard trade and I i moved to to the islanders. And and you you. You're right saying that the team why the thing is trading you. They don't like your but yet another team that wants. You wants to have you on your team so this and then you realize it's part of it's part of hockey. It's part of sports. It's going to happen so and so you move moving around it's part of Of the sport it's board of the the game and and it it gets easier but It's not it's the hard part is when you have a family. You gotta move all you know. Move the kids and you got to find a place and find cool and find so. There's a lot of adjustments that takes place and it's not a. It's that the hard part probably as far started the player you get into the locker room and you get media. You're playing hockey right off the bat so and so you get to know your teammates very quickly and So it's easier probably for the players been than the family. You certainly have been considered throughout your career as a sportsman gentlemen as well. And that was awarded the lady byng memorial trophy and the ninety two ninety three. Nhl season and yet there was the incident in the playoffs. Dale hunter came from behind. And hit you after. You'd scored a goal that really kind of clinched the playoffs for the team. And i'm just wondering when you reflect back on that that sort of necessary action by under. What did you come up with. How did you put that to rest for you. Yeah many years. Obviously it's been since ninety. Three's been a lot of years and It was there was con- consequences but he was suspended for twenty one gene. If i'm not mistaken without as so it's So it was the biggest suspension at that point and They ensure it took away from from moving on in the playoffs You know we. The i missed the next playoff which was against pittsburgh won and In and then we win against the montreal canadian. We lost montreal canadian But obviously it's one of those things that Any kind of situation. I guess we want to gain wanna see hockey. Wanna see good hockey great good team checks to. It's part of the game But that that sequence was You know it's something that The the the they came up and be able to their on it then. They had consequently he had consequences. Then but i won't point it's been so many years you belong and and And you see that we apply you see if you google you see it right away right. That's what coming up right away but You know it's one of those things that definitely i think. Now the league is even more severe on these things which is good. You want good hockey. Good thing checks. Good intensity and That's what it's all about. You traded in named captain of the canadians. And i would suppose that's a little bit for a canadian. Like a kid in the united states may be getting traded to the yankees putting on this pinstripes for the first time. You know what. I mean when you look down when you when you went out of the ice for the first time in a game and you look down and you saw that big see. Because that's what i think. Every kid in canada probably plays for to be on on the montreal canadians. You are totally right on that. I mean this is. I mean when i got traded. I went to montreal I did look at the craft. Had look at the theon at the in comparing to the yankees in the yard. It's exactly what. I compare times montreal montreal and you walk on the street they know and they know you. They just they know the game. They will know hockey they want. And it's some kind of vibe when you get in that building as you've really feel the crowd when you're on the ice and it's very something unique in growing up nor too much. We all and and being able to be part of the montreal canadian and coding the forum. I was there as a then in those ceremony. On the ice at all the captains in there in the history of that is on the ice or is just incredible and for me like i said earlier. The right place right time of the captain and and i was just Those are memories. Obviously i'll never forget. Those memories is gonna be part of my life for my. You know so. It's been playing for the montreal. Canadian was just a huge they they Big things for me. in in being able to be part of it then and at that time of.

Good morning in Montreal Fireworks last night in the street. Marty, you're from Quebec. I know you were Nordiques fan, but you're from Quebec, Craig. You know, we never hear enough about how you know how much you loved playing for the Canadians on this show. What's going on in Montreal right now, gentlemen. They are still partying in the streets. I can guarantee you that with 100% certain this this city you saw what it looked like outside when they Ended up scoring that overtime goal. Believe me when I say this, there is not a city that is electrified more than the Montreal uh, city of Montreal right now. And boy, would it be a great atmosphere to be there? Yes, you're right. It's a great atmosphere. But all I kept thinking about is that can you imagine a game Six like last night in Buffalo with people out in Canal side, people out in alumni Plaza people out, you know, at River works everywhere. And then the Sabres would win to advance to the finals in a year where you don't really expect it right, like nobody expected expected to Canadians to get that far to win around was surprising to win win two was completely unexpected. Three. What are you talking about? That's not that wasn't supposed to happen. So all I kept thinking about is okay. It's great to see the fan downtown Montreal, the fireworks, and then it got to the crazy things happening were different enough or cup cars and all of dad's, so it wasn't expected. For who Because I would I agree with you? I agree with you with the powerhouse of but you gotta think birds Van. With all the moves he made. He made them for this purpose, Did he not? Yeah, But do you see how they finished the season? Like there? The last they start this season. Good. Well, they played Vancouver word to see they were barely 500. They were a barely 500 hockey team. They had 56 points this year. They were not good all year. They had more than 56 points ribs, but You know, so they played 56 games. So they were just a little over that. I think they were 59. Maybe So But anyway, your point is right. There were barely 500. They start to season Good. They were first in the North Division. They played the Vancouver Canucks four times in the first seven games or whatever, and they they beat them 81 and 72 or whatnot, and then they went on cruise control at the end of the season. They barely got in. People were like man carry prices injured. He's got a concussion. Brendan Gallagher is injured. He's not back like what is that going to all look like bold. Gallagher and Price played games in Laval in the American League to get ready for the playoffs. Right? That's what happened. And they were down 31 to Toronto, So I can't say that. And and if people have picked the Montreal Canadians, Yeah, maybe Sometimes you pick a dark horse and say I'm going to pick them to win against Iran. I'm going to pick them to win against Winnipeg. But The fact that John to various went down with an injury and in, uh, the first round that was a big injury for the Toronto police, Mark Scheifele. He got suspended in the second round. And then they get the Chandler Stephenson injury, which is not a big name, but it's still it affects the Vegas Golden Knights. He was, he was playing as their first line center, he was and axe patch ready and stone all year. And then you get the Marc Andre Fleury. Robin Leonard thing? Uh, and your and the fact that the force for the Vegas Golden Knights did not show up at all the Carlson marshes so and Riley Smith Kline was not good patron. He was not good, Mark Stone. Oh, my God. Mark Stone was brutal. So it's like he said that last night in his postgame too. I don't know if you saw it. Yep, he so So, Yeah, It's like it's a team of destiny right now that you know, all of these things worked out in Montreal's favor and I look back to 93 because I was in Quebec. I was, you know, playing Bantam hockey in 93. I was 16 years old midget hockey. Whatever. And I went to the first two games in the first round. Montreal, Quebec, Right, and Scott Young scored on a wraparound against Patrick Raw Game one game two day win. And then all of a sudden Montreal was this team of destiny. All the overtime, Uh, winds John LeClair, Patrick Wadi swept Buffalo in the second round, which Buffalo had just swept Boston with the made a goal so And then they go to play the New York Islanders. They don't have Pierre Turgeon because he got crossed by Dale Hunter. So like all of that, like, reminds me of 93 right now, and I'm like 2021 93 is very, very similar. It's a It's like a team that that everything is falling in place, but they're taking advantage of the situation as well. They're not Folding and just quitting. You know, the injuries to you know top end players and You know, in order to be in this situation in order to make the playoffs. Things the stars need to align. Just scored for vegas literally. Not even a minute into the third. After peter angelo had wrister from the circle price made the save but drop the puck and it was between his legs and martinez senate under his satchel into the bag. A goal five whole. That's a cheap goal carver high. Because he never gives up rebounds he dropped the puck and couldn't find it and martinez popped it through his legs under his stones and their tied up to now in the third. And i mean that was literally a but a minute aid into the third thing. It was eighteen. Fifty two left. All i know is that was a cheap goal. That was an ugly goal he gets. He never gives up rebounds he stops avary thing that was listen carey. Price has been absolutely ridiculous in this series. He picked the wrong time to give up a cheapie because that was a cheap he had at the initial shot from the point. He wrapped it up. He let it get loose and martinez just happened to be there. Defenseman down that low in the zone and he pops it through his legs. Ooh that's a bad one for kerry price. I mean that's a really. It really is a bad one so anyway. it's too all would seventeen and a half minutes ago. The islanders were eleven and one in stanley cup finals games at the coliseum. Their only loss was a one. Nothing set back in game. One at eighty four to the oilers. They used to call it for it. Never lose did you ever hear about that. Oh yeah plenty of ford. Never lose stories. Oh yeah here's the thing i think. It's hard to mix any of the non dynasty in with the dynasty. It's like it really is. Its own but why i understand that like it's either one of the greatest ever it is. They won cups so the games mattered. More just if they end up winning the cup here. I think that that will obviously elevate the game a little bit higher. You know what i mean. I just i just think that you need to finish the job But could you put it in the conversation of top five even with those dynasty games. I think you absolutely have to it was it. Was that big of a moment and and the place was just unbelievable. The energy in there well passionately number one for my all the games. I've been to in that place and i've been to some of the biggest ones. They're obviously in the last twenty five years for me. It was without question. The best the best game biggest moment i've ever been to wow So anyway So i i have a list here of allegedly of the greatest moments ever so. Let me see if i can do this in some kind of fashion. After winning three straight overtime games that are division semifinal series islanders eliminate the capitals sam's with a five three victory the tail on cats. That's the dale hunter. "Eight hundred seventy nine yards eight touchdowns receiving a lot. You know receiving line with the league's best of eleven point four yards per target because he was big three or four Been he got suspended for the final. Five games yeah. He's also spader for harmony. I think is just week one. I think he's just wanted a season But yet is door abilities. The issues are said. Ms twenty two games during the first four. Nfl seasons that's a lot of games. Guys. So nice news. But he's still still young. He's still can make you happy bounce back so would all be it said regardless Hopefully you know some changes that comes about within the next. I guess year four I like to. I like the dolphins. So i would see number eleven on his list. Denver broncos were they selected. Cornerback kaufeler in ronald darby. Replacing michael juno dea in aj bone boy. czar it boy So boy a is A stat line is passage with eight tackles notice sections when you play quarterback is we need at least one to what a piece averaged on. This is a hopes. He told me out of the sixteen games. You can jump on one route. One Fuller in darby's combined twenty projection is tackled five more than Previous holders of the position and three interceptions which is a big of great those turnovers for scher Let's not forget that they drafted patrick thirteen. In the first round combined with returner bryce calhoun in between twenty third round. Pick a judea. Denver now has one of the league's best in deepest cornerback groups if you include. Safeties justin simmons a kareem jackson. The broncos have the best secondary overall in The thing is it has improved. It's like okay. All of this sounds good All good but duty more from it. fuller was fullest terrific during his time in chicago which included. Tony sees where he allowed a fourteen of only forty seven catches six hundred yards Three receiving touchdowns on eighty targets while handling Toil coverage snaps So that's not bad. Five hundred twelve snaps eighty balls convenience way on three ended up in touchdowns okay In a got six hundred dollars off of not terrible Darby who His was a he. He writes six in coverage dance with five hundred five why he allowed sixty word catches eight hundred fourteen yards in two touchdowns so one less touchdown in a little bit more yards and stuff from their house on one hundred eight so it's a lot more targets that's possibly why trinidad way But yet still only allowed two touchdowns on a hundred eight. Ball's coming your way. This as i feel like that's a good way to measure. How will your diesel doing Is good tehran Pickup diverse defense at finished twenty seventh between night in a force turnovers during the past two seasons But the offseason ejected a talent figures to the league. You know in better showing is definitely come for them. Twenty twenty one as they have those new individuals number two in the second time out of the three mentioning washington football team. This one is because quarterback william jackson. The third is replaced in ronald darby. Own happened kind of big news Because jackson is better hands than darby reportedly so diabetes past season at fifty five tackles known sessions jackson's projected. Twenty twenty one stats are five tackles two point five sections by knows. He's a little bit better within man. darby is salad. Db jackson is just one of the league's best you cover corners which makes deciding the bedouin offseason the best option To set a seventy fifth percentile or better cornerback. Perf pro football focus grade It three of his four phil season jackson has made impact despite being Tasked with occasional shadow duties against top wide receivers His twenty twenty nine midst included. Aj brown t. y. Hilton terry mclaren. Devante parker dairy slayton sean jackson so i slight work with good enough to compete with Jackson was targeted on sixty nine of his four hundred thirty one covered snaps in limited opponents to only three thirty three kitchens foul yards two touchdowns okay This is a decent move. I still don't know if it should be this. It was definitely a decent move. Vx me it's gonna make a difference for that team midst. Narrating minnesota vikings get in dalvin tomlinson to replace him mar steffen. Who what a grab man. So stephan you know. Pass at thirty four tackles half sack dowding thomas. Who's a little. Bit of unstoppable maniac. Sometimes there is project. Get fifty two tackles in three one secs In twenty twenty minnesota's defects Was one of the worst. As i've already stated was we talked about them. A greatest secondary. Okay The vikings twenty seven th in yards allowed after finishing in the upper half of the league in the previous season. So this was a big change for them. They finished twenty eight points allowed after five. Straight top seven finishes and also right near the bottom of the league enforce bubbles sacks and tackles for losses. This is new to them. I'm pretty sure freaked down by this whole overhaul so very quickly but workout. The they made the right moves It's no surprise that the team had made these aggressive moves. Being they shocked by these results. the biggest acquisition was tomlinson. To me he's twenty seventeen second round pick by the giants who basically merged as one of the league's top interior defensive linemen last season. He's twenty seven years old but he racked up forty nine tackles nine and a half of those losses Three point five six in four pass. Deflections are like whoa. We're talking about going to that from somebody. That only had half saxon already told you how much they was hurting tackles for loss team so up wait With these guys because he also have their have their who joins his michael pierre pierce he opted out and twenty so he's coming back But these two you know are gay. "Got slammed. He was starting to play with snow. I hope it's Carl that does it. That's it. I'm out. All right. Well, that you see, like that's passion from a fan like he's not a He's a Bruins fan, and he still remembers Wilson. Slam it and Carlos head into the wall and the glass with full force of the £235. He's got flying in, Um He still remembers it and you're right. Carlos been back for two games. He played one full. The other one. He played six minutes. I believe I don't think you'll be 100% for the rest of the year because of some Wilson's action. So I hope this suspend him because if he keeps playing and Yeah, maybe the Bruins will get their shots at him. But it doesn't matter. He should be gone. All right. Hold on. Riv gets seriously injured with this man before his time's up. Must be good. This next calls for you, River Dwayne and Tonawanda. Dwayne. Go ahead. You're on the line with Andrew Craig and Marty. Come. I like the way they just like, Go. Can I go back in time here a little bit. Um, you know, with any sport, not just hockey, any sport where the physicality is as high as it is. Things are gonna happen in the moment. It's a guarantee in every single game sometimes in your control. Sometimes it's out of your control. I looked, you know, and at the end of the day, and you guys will agree as someone who played this game at a high level at the end of the night. You all have families to go home to on both sides of that. Each bunch. You all have families to go home to You would hope that each of those players on the other bench would have enough respect to realize that because they have families to go home to two, and you don't want to get taken home on a stretcher in a wheelchair. So I looked back at moment. The first thing I thought of when I saw that replay. What Tom Wilson dead and granite? Yes, it's two way different extremes. Was Todd Bertuzzi on Steve Moore. That sucker punch and then driving him into the ice bullet holes. Players were an extremely extremely defense with the bundles position. Which name it's could not defend himself, and he had no idea that was coming. No idea. And you want to know what if it wasn't for guys like entire time? Deepen. Erin, What's this? Stop? What is this stuff? Tom Wilson from taking a second swing. What if that second swing is the one that ends which name is his career? So my eyes I look, if I'm whose names I look there, Terry Rangers when I'm looking at a tiny parent or whoever it was the first to get You know Wilson off me. Aziz, the hero. Because you, regardless of the sequence investor what happened up in Aaron afterwards? Regardless of that. Um You like he could have killed him. And then what? Then what He did after the fact that pin Aaron slew footing and then driving it had done to the ice and then in the palate, Bakkies smiling and fly. Think of these proud of what he did. He knew his sick was underneath his head. He knew it and any fan of any families who just spends that garbage that absolute garbage The little fat and doesn't care and need to get out of the old time hockey mindset because of any day these kids I don't care. I don't care how much money you get paid at the animal. You have a family to go home too, no matter what your traded You the failure going? He's a kid. You have a wife. You have a mother. Tom Wilson s O go to Z more. That's a very good example. Okay, that is slamming a guy's head into the grand into the ice retaliation. Losing your cool the whole thing. Dale Hunter and Pierre Turgeon in 1993. Right like that is that is Adele Hunter. Was a fantastic hockey player. 1000 games. Bible Leave 2520 minutes. Did he have 1000 points They'll enter. He may be the only player with 1000 game 1000 points 2,503,020 minutes in the history of the game. And he's a great player. Like Tom Wilson is a great player, and everybody would have want wanted Dale Hunter and their team, but we needed to Pierre Turgeon has nothing to do with how good of a player Dale Hunter wasps. And what What Tom Wilson did to paneer and mostly in my opinion, has nothing to do with how good of a player Tom Wilson is. And Dale Hunter in 1993 got suspended for 21 games. In today's day and age. That's 150 game suspension. Adele on 3rd 21 games back then, when the game was played, and the way was played in 1993. You can multiply, Dad. Bye bye. By 10 with the way that the suspension should be now. Like that's that's a good one to compare to You're very quiet over there. After Craig comments where I'm gonna grab Ryan and Clarence, I'm trying to figure out how we can sign Dwayne as our enforcer. Yes, he was showing some passion there. Um, listen, every single team in the league would want Tom Wilson under team. It's undeniable, like Marty said this this not this is not a mutt player. That's just out there to be dirty. Ultimately playing on the top line with Alex Ovechkin. Could nets offer Backstrom He plays a physical brand of hockey. He's fast, he's got skills. But he walks the line every time he's on the ice. The game has changed. It's not the same is what it was 10 years ago or even five years ago, it has changed. He is dirty..

Everything else is terrible. It's just facing the terrible thanks again to Ah, Ed Martin and Dean Greenberg for doing the show. I really do appreciate it. Um You know what's crazy really quick and I haven't mentioned this yet. And and I get matters But you know, yesterday was and of course I wasn't here. Yesterday was I'm not kidding You, uh, the 11th anniversary of this show. 11 years ago yesterday. Is when this monstrosity appeared. I now have two kids, more white hair and gray hair and your life is better off for it. What? What do you want to say? What It's a good thing. You weren't here then to celebrate the whatever you're on the show. This was what a year the show. Well, you're wasn't against it. Xylem in 11 0. My God, The old the old Darius Kasparaitis on the Islanders. I don't acknowledge about any of the team. You know that. So there you go. It's Kasparaitis fear the friendly ghost and that's what his name was Darius Kasparaitis like a bone disease. Hey, cry. Yeah, he crushed a lot of the crush The Army or younger Mariel Amu in his rookie season are big run. We should have won the cup. It wasn't for a dirtbag Capitals player named Dale Hunter. But that's a different story. Um It's Zs. Oh, I want to play for you. And I have this video my page a canister dot com Uh, Joe Biden. Joe Biden is I mean, this guy This guy literally has no clue as to what the hell he is doing. And this is 40 seconds of insanity. I find it so undertake. Now it's scary that he's the he's the guy that sits in the White House. And he's the he's the placeholder cheater in in in in in a recliner. Number 1 40. If you don't mind he was talking apparently about the vaccines. Because apparently with you know, Biden, I have a plan. I have a plan. They lost 20 million vaccines. They don't know where the hell 20 million of these vax vaccine vaccinations have gone. Um Having more people die every day. I thought people going to stop dying with him being the guy that's in charge now. S so anyway, Listen to this guy just I don't even know what the hell he says. You figure it out number 1 40. Here we go. 200 million doses to be delivered. This summer. And some of it will come as early began to come in early summer, but by the middle by the mid summer that this vaccine will be there. And the order. And then on that increases the total vaccine order in the United States by 50% from 400 Million order to 600 million That's enough vaccine. Fully vaccinate 300 Americans. Right end of the summer, the beginning of the fall. But we won't make it. Look that I want to repeat, it'll be enough to fully vaccinate 300 Americans. I have no idea. I have no clue. Owner, Pete I know that you imagine if Trump even when Trump told the truth, the media went off on him. That is perfectly acceptable, which is again why the media needs to just literally become irrelevant, like ignore them. Who cares what they say what they do? Anything that makes sense to you. They're going to. They're going to just destroy they're gonna try to destroy people. So who cares? It's like let them just if a person yells in the forest and you don't listen to them, do they really yell? Look, I want to be clear at some point in the in the summer, maybe the fall. But amid there's gonna be like vaccines, and we're gonna like 600 million, so 300 Americans could be vaccinated. I wanna repeat 303 100 Americans. I mean, well, Yeah, yeah. Okay? Lot of Lot of phenomenal stuff there. That guy. That guy leaves the free world. So we were told. Look, you know it. I know it. It's Obama's third term. Obama's yanking the strings. This guy doesn't know what the hell he's doing. You know, every time this guy goes to speak to the press, his people just cringe, right? I mean, they just His elder abuse. But I'm okay with this elder abuse because it's Joe Biden. He's ripped us off and gotten his family rich on the backs of us for far too long, far too long. So Yeah. Mm hmm. Um What else have Oh, yes, yes, Yes, really Quick. I found this to be very entertaining as well. Where you know they stopped. They stopped the border wall construction. People said to me, there's do you think they're gonna rip down the wall like no, There's no way they're gonna rip down the wall. There's no I mean, I shouldn't have said that. I don't think I still don't think they're going to do it. They're starting to put the Try to start to put one of the messages out there. NPR. What a waste that is. They interviewed a bunch of lefty border wall haters that air of course, environmental lovers, animal lovers, right, Of course I'm an animal lover. Anyway. NPR interview these people. On their weekend edition Sunday show. I have no idea what the hell that I've never listen NPR Melanie, You know, I don't care. Right? Oh, I don't care. Um They interviewed somebody named Gary Navin and Eka and Ecologist and writer who lives in southern Arizona. And this, Gary NAB Ham said. The wall runs along the border between Mexico and the organ Pipe cactus National Monument blocks 52 paths used by animals, so they're going to start saying we need to tear down the wall to make it easier for animals to illegally cross the border. Quote, take down the wall in the critical corridors for wildlife that are usually water places, Rivers and oasis. It's going to be a take a Herculean Herculean effort to under undo the damage. Another nut That's been down there for a long time..

"GPS out recorded just yesterday for your listening pleasure. The show about the show. You guys were right. I like those new look Capitals uniforms that Washington debuted last night. Although I will say in some ways they look a little better during the Fashion show on Ovechkin, etcetera that they do actually in play on the ice. Sometimes up close to get to see all the detail like the double you up close the middle of the W. Is the Washington Monument, which is awesome, but you can't really tell that his guys are skating by with the puck. So there's a few things there that maybe look a little better, slow motion up close, But overall, I like it. The one thing I will say, though more as is, Does it feel a little rangers esque to you? A little bit ast four is the deep blue and the color is kind of like Ranger alternates. It short. Sure, I guess, but I don't know. I'm I'm a fan of plain yet subtle. And I think that like you mentioned the Washington Monument. That means anything the three stars. Also, there's a star on the tip of each of the W tops that represents. I believe Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia kind of joining that. That's that district's hockey team, So I thought that was kind of cool, like a hat tip to it, but I get your point. That's a division rival in the Rangers, and that's not normally the way the capital's look with some kind of deep blue. So I found that a little interesting overall, I like it, and I like it because it's a block W on the front, so it's no fuss, no muss. And a little hat tip to the Capitol building or the monument rather with the middle of the W. The three story, Caesar said, for the D M V, and I like that, as well, I think the one thing just nihilistic Lee that I don't love is all of the white up top that it's a deep blue, dark blue jersey and pants with a red trim. You have that big white top. Don't know if that white top fits so well. I could see that, too. I think the overall encompassing theme know of why like D A is it seems that we're going to simpler times with the new uniforms, definitely, And that's it. This is just another team in another step in that direction, and all the NHL teams will have this year. What's called reverse Retros, where they were my belief seven times this year and many of which will look familiar to jerseys that we've seen in the past, which is a little hint of change. But this one in both correct me if I'm wrong. This wasn't something Washington ever war before which I found a little different, But it's just a step towards simpler times with uniforms. Which is something here in the D A show we've been longing for. Yeah, I agree. Streamline. I'm simplify them. Make a little retro little throwback. People will love them, which is funny, because, remember, the Capitals have such an obvious history to draw off of red, white and blue. That's really the basis of their jerseys and have been since their inception. But remember the Olaf Kolzig days when they went to purple and the screaming eagle. Down their jerseys. I guess maybe was a blue and a black maybe a light purple, But it was like, why would you get away from red, White and blue? You know, those were so off What your strengths could be, Which is the all American hockey team at a D. C. Go to a Stanley Cup in those uniforms, too? Yeah, disgusting to think about. Yeah. Who's the best player on that team? She's good point. Probably Dale Hunter. I think that a younger team Peter Bondra, was on that team really good. Bondra, Adam Oates on that team. Adamo take believe was an ally of Fraidy, I think was their big defenseman. Mm hmm. About that. About it, but we're getting there today on the show, huh? Welcome to the mother ship E mean Otis Anderson saying that last segment was absolutely amazing. Ellie Nog tweets. Great interview with Otis Sanderson. I love that He loved the mothership. Have you ever seen Parliament in Concert D A. That's one hell of a show. I did got to see them a couple of years ago in New York, and they were just awesome. Still, just absolutely crushing it. Everybody dancing. You're not allowed to just stand on the side. When Parliament's playing you have to dance, so Kill it. They're awesome. And I love the notice. Anderson gave us many, many great drops Anything. Give it to me the fuck alive, brother. I feel like that's really notices job, not mine, but I'll take it. Look into the mother ship. So Tom Brady's dad, does he ever say no to an interview? I'm surprised you haven't tried to book him here on the show for like an easy Monday segment because he just came to do He just says yes. Apparently, everybody Yeah, this point, probably Monday after the Super Bowl should have impact. The project's Peter second. So I don't even know where he did this interview. But He took a shot at Bill Bella check and said that maybe there's a little bit of a hot seat on Bella check right now and I know if you're the Brady clan, you're loving this. Actually, he spoke to Karen duration of the Boston Herald. So that's where Tom Brady Sr said this I know that you're relishing the fact that Brady is there. I know that you're loving the idea that your son is it his 10th Super Bowl and he proved everybody wrong again. 43 years old, still playing in Super Bowls? But a year ago. Remember, they got knocked out of the wild card round by Tennessee. He had ended his Patriots. 10 year with a pick six in the playoffs. He was named the NFL All 100 teams, so he was at the Super Bowl in a blazer and said Next year I'm not coming to the Super Bowl in a blazer. I'm not gonna be a blazer. In other words, I'm gonna be playing in this game, and he called the shot and did it. And here is All right, a chance where you don't have to say anything, and the evidence is clear. You're still playing Bill. Is it coaching? You're still in the big game. Bill just went seven and nine. You're still good enough to get to a Super Bowl and bills quarterback was a disaster quarterbacks this year. But when Tom Brady Sr says, I'm guessing bills on a little bit of a hot seat right now, They got a good relationship that Brady family with the craft really, really good. And this was never a Robert Kraft thing..
