"So the matchup with pat Beverly, that Minnesota team defense at home. In fact, I think it's an under game and the return of Paul George all conspired to have me vetting me under on Reggie Jackson 25 and a half points assists and rebounds. I almost feel dirty listening to that because Reggie Jackson over points last year in the playoffs was awesome after Leonard got hurt. He had great opportunities and he was crushing that prop. And now I see you and Doug are both betting against him and I kind of just feel bad because he was so good to us last year, but that doesn't make it a bad bet by any stretch. Before we say goodbye, any baseball on your car today. Yeah, my cardinals taking on the royals in an I 70 inter league series at Busch stadium. Cardinals are minus one 60 on the money line. They are plus one 20 on the run line. Minus one 30 in the first 5 run line. Listen, I think the cardinals should win this game against Daniel lynch and the royals. Lynch is a lefty starter and the Cardinals last year one of the top offense is in Major League Baseball against left handers that makes sense because all of their big bats, guys like Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Tyler O'Neill, Yadier Molina, now having Albert Pujols, they're all right handers, Dylan Carlson, and Tommy Edmond or switch hitters. So they will have a nice platoon advantage here. And Dakota Hudson is making his first start of the season for the Cardinals. And even though Adam Wainwright is the ace of staff with Jack flaherty on the shelf right now, Dakota Hudson with flaherty down, definitely has the best stuff of any starter on the cardinal staff. And I think rain Wright will gladly admit that at his advanced age, Hudson's a guy who a few years ago before Tommy John won 16 games with an ERA that was barely above three, had Tommy John last year, got back at the end of the season and the postseason. He got to stretch it out, even though it was an abbreviated spring training and is ready to start. He is behind flaherty. The second most talented starter on this team and the royals, despite having a young rookie and Bobby witt and Sal Perez and some good bats, I think the cardinal defense and a big ballpark against a left handed starter. This is a good bounce back spot for St. Louis after they lost a game they had no business losing against the pirates on Sunday, their Monday affair against Pittsburgh was rained out. So I think they're eager to get back out there. I don't think it's rose colored glasses for me. Just a really good matchup in situation for St. Louis with Hudson being one of their top talented starters. And them going against a left handed pitcher, which they absolutely destroyed last year. All right, very nice. I'm going to throw a two year way. One of which is at four ten eastern. So keep that in mind. There are a lot of day games today, a lot of early games. Seattle plus one O 5 at the White Sox. Two reasons here, both deals with the pitching. Seattle's going to trot out the 5th man in their rotation today. 23 year old righty, rookie Matt brash. This dude has surged through the Seattle system in the last like year plus. Last year at high a three and two with a two 5 5 ERA. Got promoted to double-A two one three ERA. He had a huge spring to earn that number 5 spot. He's got an incredible strikeout rate. The guy can get swings and misses. And since this is his major league debut as a starter, there's going to be very minimal tape and a scouting report for Chicago to study on the sky. Now, conversely, look at who the White Sox are trotting out there. Vince Velasquez. Bomb, absolutely bomb. You and I made a lot of money betting against Velazquez last year. When it came to overs, first 5 overs, team total overs. If you want to play the Mariner team total over, go for it. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Glasgow has had a 6.3 ERA last season stretched out across two teams, Philadelphia and San Diego. That wasn't an anomaly. The year before that is ERA was just under 6 with the Phillies. The Phillies just dumped them. And the only reason he's with the White Sox is because of the Lance Lynn injury. He wasn't going to be in the rotation, but they needed a guy after Lin got hurt to fill in for them. So boom, here comes Vince Velasquez. Seattle should have a great opportunity here. The fact that it's plus one O 5, I get that the Mariners are trotting a rookie out there. I'm going to take a shot with Seattle. Game number two, tonight, 6 45 p.m. eastern mets Phillies. I'm going to play the mets plus one 30. The mets, listen, the mets can either go in the tank after what happened last night or they can show some resiliency. And the fact that I'm betting on resiliency shows that I'm going anti met here because they usually just go right into the tank. Four run lead for nothing. They're dominating the Phillies the entire game. They give up 5 in the 8th. They lose the game 5 to four. Classic met. So today, look at what's happening. The fields are going to trot Zach Wheeler out there who was phenomenal last season first start of the year. Everyone's going to want to bet them last year against the mets. He made three starts. The mets did okay against him, all right?.

"Then that makes Paul young a real kind of important player in this game in games beyond it if they if they do wind up coming And i think to run known In this guy. Get kind of jose martinez hot. He's already kind of trending in that direction. in can he be a factor for the cardinals in the wildcard game. Those are things that jump out right away. And then the most important thing dan get. Don't get anybody hurt. you don't wanna see an injury and these kind of games you wanna stay fresh. You want to stay in a good place offensively. But don't don't get anybody hurt That's number one. And also get adam wainwright ready that that's a kind of a low-key good story line here. Dan the numbers show. Even the and i really only look at atoms numbers since twenty twenty. I feel like if you're trying to get it. We gotta dig up. The old starts in the playoff history and all that stuff. I get it but really. He's not he's a different pitcher since twenty twenty with what he's doing with how he's pitching with how he's attacking what's working and what's not working for him so i really only care about those numbers but they show that more rest for him isn't always a good thing he's not he's gotten worse numbers when he has more time off and i think they're being mindful of those. I wouldn't be shocked if we see him in a relief appearance before the regular season ends. I think he's gonna work closely with mike matic's to kind of figure out the best way to attack that what will be an eight day Eight days stretch without games if he doesn't go from pitching in the game where they clinched pitching in the wild card games figuring out how to he can stay in a routine because you you to have them rested for sure but you don't want to have them rusty when he gets out there in california. I think to Guys that i'll be watching very closely. One would be jack flaherty and then the other one is the starter tonight. Dakota hudson you know. What if he goes out and he deals. What's his role with this team. I think that is certainly something that is up for debate. Totally is your game two starter. Then actually it's your. I guess not game to game one of the division series starter or do you wanna risk. You know not taking him To to to gain more i mean. That's the cool thing about the roster you can basically you decide who you're going to have decide the guy you want to start in game one of the division series if you get there and you don't have to him on the wildcard roster but opens up the door for you know another reliever so what they're going to have it in the beauty of them clinching early. Which was remarkable because of the winning streak. They're gonna have adam wainwright ready to roll full rest and they're also going to have every reliever they could want fully rested so the the thing for scheldt will be. How do you balance. You know letting adam wainwright do what he does. Get stronger as the game goes along. He's not a guy you need. That necessarily have a quick hook with the games close. They played better. When he's on the mound. I don't some of it can be explained. Some of it can't their defense is is is better when he pitches of the way he pitched and also because he's adam wainwright and they want to get everything for him. I think there's an element to that but you're also going to have a fully rested bullpen. Rican just start trying to trap door. It handed off bataan style From one innings into the neck. So that's going to be the hard challenge for shelters win. Wendy lift him. Who do you go with. How aggressively dea..

"We do those like a hundred and he's like blowing guys out and we just let him go late in the year. I think there's some frustration there. But i think that's the thing is the the leak the leaks they had all year the walks the inconsistent offense and the bullpen. That was counting too much. That was basically overusing cabrera and overusing race in and over using a guy goes that has been. That situation has generally gotten fixed now. This is not the best version of the cardinals check. Flirty is not fully healthy. Dakota hudson is back so pitching a little bit but those guys are clearly not there if you get flaherty at all on a theoretical playoffs would be. Maybe i would be surprised if flirty does anything in the playoffs At this point. So you're not at your at your best however this is the best possible cardinals team with the rest. They have right now and they have not been that team most of this year. That team is not as good as the dodgers even very dealer or they are they are not as good the dodgers but this has been the thing to this has been a big cardinals fans though fans. Who would you like. How do you want the dodgers giants rates to kind of work out. It's kind of remarkable to even be thinking about this question but In generally the idea has been was nobody wants to like the more games you play against the dodgers the more likely you are to that series like you'd like to the ideal world. They tie and they have to play on monday. What i think the general consensus. You'd rather play the dodgers in the wildcard game and take your one game chance with him. But they're not as good as either team but you now you see a path for them to be able to win those games or for a long time this year. That just wasn't really. Yeah well speaking of devil magic candidates you named a couple but there are a few others who may be fall into that bucket. We talked about and muno sosa the other day. And then you've got. Jose ron don who had some huge hits. You have newt bar. We have talked about mostly because he's named blue bar but he has also played pretty well and all. These guys fit into that cardinals. Category not stars and probably most people haven't heard of them but they just slop these players in whom you haven't heard of and maybe they play a bunch of positions just your generic infielder who has won ten ups plus plays defense and it always seems like the cardinals have a bottomless supply of those guys. So that's part of this. I guess if you wanna go looking for a justification for calling this cardinal hachik then that group would seem to fit into kind of the archetype. I don't i don't think the cardinals really get a lot of credit for that because you know a certain level. The only reason rondo and in new bar. Those guys are here is because justin williams didn't work lane thomas. They've been trying to force lane thomas to work forever. They finally got sick of it. Trade him for leicester lane. Thomas is going crazy in washington which is just bizarre in its own place like they try john gas. They trade austin dean. They tried scott scott. Scotty hearst whoever that is they like he was new bar with less much less interesting name and so it's not like new bars.

"And a miss Dakota Hudson strikes out the side. Left handed batters are hitting only 1 20 against Hudson this season. Entering today, that was the second lowest average for lefties off any MLB pitcher this year. If the Cubs wantto have success against Hudson Tonight, they better get their leadoff man on base. Opponents have scored in on Lee, one of the 18 innings in which Hudson has retired the first batter of the inning. That is 5.6%. Compared to the major league average off 18%. Get out thanks to the Elias Sports Bureau and the Cubs Radio Network for more on tonight's matchup. Cardinals in Cubs we bring in our ESPN MLB insider buster only on the shell, Pennzoil Performance Line and Buster, You took an interesting look this week. A team's really having to generate their own energy during this fan Lis Major League baseball season, So how have the Cubs separated themselves? From other teams in that's apartment, well, generating energy in the dugout. You know, a couple years ago, I was talking with officials from other teams, players from other teams, and everybody kept mentioning the Cubs today. In our zoom call with David Ross. He talked about before the season started in a challenging his players talking about. Hey, you know this. We know this is an unusual season. Let's try to create energy, and they mentioned with a smile on his face that he knows that it can drive other teams crazy a little bit sometimes. And then, he said, and I really don't care. Hey did like the players being able to generate energy in a season, which there No fans, as he said, You know, the only fans for these guys of the teammates Buster. It seems like they've been waiting a couple of years for Ian have toe maybe fulfill whatever potential they expected of him. It seems like this is the year that he's putting it all together. Yeah, and first off. Ah, David really believes that? Ah, that in, you know, awful last year when he struggled so badly that he was sent to the minor leagues. That he really came in with a chip on his shoulder. You made a very specific adjustment to getting the ball in the top of the strike zone, which had confounded him last year, and he's doing a lot of damage on those pitches or not chasing pitches up and out of the zone. And the other thing to Rossi made a point of going to happen, said Hey, the job's yours. You're good. You know, there've been times in the past when he's been in and out of the lineup, but he felt like it was important. Conveyed a half. That he was gonna be in the lineup for good. And certainly this point has been their best player and the route feels been really good. It's a good thing happen leading the way they're because Buster, you've got some big names on the infield that have really struggled this whole season. Baez, Bryant and Rizzo. What's the level of concern with those three big names? In talking with Rossi Today he felt like the last couple days that Kris Bryant swing was starting to come back that he was driving the ball to right center field. You know, having some good at bats, you think Rizzo just kind of in a in a minor funk. Biases the greatest concern, especially when they're playing and Wrigley Field. His home. Road splits are very different, and he's struggled in Wrigley Field. And what what David really believes it just comes down to buy as expanding the strike zone, which he tends to do at times. He's got to get back to swing it. Strikes are Buster Olney joining us on the shell Pennzoil Performance line, talking some cubs in cardinals coming your way from Wrigley Field tonight, Jon Lester getting the ball for the Cubs and Buster. He's nearing the end of this six year contract, and you never know how these lengthy deals are going to turn out, especially with veteran pitchers as we're coming to the end of this deal. How do we look at this contract for Jon Lester? That they got exactly what they would have hoped for when they signed him, You know, making the playoffs for the breakthrough season, Lessers first year with the team in 2015, winning the World Series in 16 2076 regular season wins. Nine starts in the postseason. Hey, he's been tremendous. Now he is 36. He has lost velocity of his fastball this year, and his big challenge is going to be missing bats to this point. He has the worst swing and miss rate of any starting pitcher and all the major league baseball. So tonight, I think they're hoping that you could get a different angle on this stuff. Maybe get some early resolution in some of bats and be more effective in the last four starts. 855 e. R a a month ago, buster with the covert outbreak in their clubhouse, I think there was legitimate concern whether or not the Cardinals would even be ableto have a season and yet three weeks ago here they are within shouting distance of the NL Central title. How have the How have they been able to hold this all together? Well, certainly club leadership there. There there, not a dynamic team. Offensively, Their outfield has really struggled for offense. But it has been remarkable that since that first game that they came back after missing 16 days, being inactive for 16 days. They won that first game, and they've managed to plow through despite the fact they've had all these doubleheaders five so far, and think about this moving forward in the last 21 days of the season. They're gonna have six double headers that they have to play. And yet they've been able to find the pit go around baseball with your real quick. The Yankees lose again to the Orioles Today, they've lost three straights of Baltimore. Amazingly busted. The Orioles are two games behind the Yankees in the standings. What do you make of the Yankees right now? Well, look, there's no question that they've had a lot of injuries. Ah, Aaron Boone get has some hope that guys like Giancarlo standing there and judge you're going to be back soon. They've already gotten a couple of other guys back. Glaber tour is over the weekend. But you could hear in the voices of Garrett Cole and Boone after the game on Saturday that there they are concerned, you know, they're they're just simply not playing well. The bullpen, which has been such a strength of them in recent years, has struggled. And if you think about this, you know, last year this team led the majors and run scored coming today They were 13th out of 30 teams in O. P s. They just have to start playing better and the fact that they struggle the way they did against the Orioles, which would space it is an island of misfit toys. In terms of players. That would be alarming, and I bet they're going to a lot of conversation. When the Yankees organization tonight about making changes, they made one today, basically benching Gary Sanchez for a couple days. Great stuff is always Buster. Thanks very much. Enjoy the game back. We welcome those of you who are listening to the Milwaukee Bucks. 1 18 toe 1 15 overtime victory over the Miami Heat. I'm panel Keith. "Dakota Hudson today and the White Sox will counter with left hander Dallas Michael Let's start with Dakota Hudson because He just like Dallas Cycle likes to keep the ball on the ground, and it's had a pretty good job of it so far early in his career. Yeah, you know, today's pitching matchup I look as thie nightmare against the illusionist. Simple as that is Dakota Hudson is a guy that is effectively wild. Looking at his numbers. Last year, 86 walks, he allowed 174 innings. I mean, he's all over the road man, but He knows how to get you out. He's getting the ground ball. As you pointed out, he learning for our students. Um, we will have an option for and we believe we can do that safely. Um We will have an option for families with Children who feel that, for whatever reason, they don't want their Children in class. We do have the option for learning or distance learning for those students and families, so we can continue to serve them within the Catholic school system and allowing them that choice. We? We picked the way we're going because in response fundamentally to feedback from our parents, so overwhelmingly told us that they wanted in person classes to resume. Safely for themselves for their their Children in their family. So although the electronic component will be there, the he learning component will be there as a choice. Our goal would be to maintain five days a week in school in person learning. So how does that actually work? You know what Can I put you on hold for just a second, because I would like to get the answer to that. If if a student decides that they want to do the Earl here, the e learning and the diocese schools What does that experience look like? And why? And let's give some information to parents about what that choice would look like for them. Hold on one second will come right back. Justin Lombardo is with us. He is the Chief like this learning officer of the Chicago archdiocese. No one would ever call me a learning officer. They'd call me. Actually, the exact opposite. Mary van develops, got the traffic in the weather. Justin Lombardo is with us. He's a chief learning officer for the struggle, Archdiocese. And the plan is despite with city did today. The plan is to do five days of in School learning for the kids and Justin, you are offering the opportunity for some families. If they wish to choose the e learning they could do it. But what does that look like? What will that student experience? Right road. That's a good that's a good question. So one of the things again one of things about the Catholic school system is that we try to be as responsive as we can to the local community. And in our case is the local community. The most local community is is the parish so We've designed, working with the feedback from the parishes and the parents within the school's 2 to 3 different options for how he learning would work based on what that school needs, which includes How many of their students are choosing electronic options Because part of the feedback we got again from parents. If you do, create any learning options, make it make it compatible and actually reflective off what we do on a local on a parish level so that the kids are getting the experience As much of it is, we can off what the the local school is able to do. The curriculum, etcetera, so the way it would look like one option is we will have Ah, curriculum that outline of pretty comprehensively for basic studies areas, math reading, etcetera, and with the local school would fill in religion classes and things like that. So that would be a preexisting curriculum and we're negotiating with A well, a well known national company's specializes in this, um and the second option. Wait, I want to stop you for a second. So reading, writing and arithmetic is going to be in this app form, essentially where it's already pre packaged for him, and they just have to complete. They have to listen to the lectures and then Play along with whatever it is, That's how long you and yes, we'll be back with more WG and showcase and we'll tell you why you should not plant those mystery seeds you've been getting in the mail. "Behind three one three. Oh then get back into the camp by being Jack Again and then try to experiment just bled to a really long second ending. Twenty eight pitch any Same kind of thing to go to Hudson. Second INNING was You know he had a bloop and then a single and he didn't walk. Anybody Jack Walked to people was routinely behind in the count in the last eight batters. He faced You know but both guys. Kinda just had their hiccups in the second inning but overall we're okay. I think one thing that really stood out to me is Dakota Hudson. Struck out for batters If you WANNA look for positives and you know. He had his sinker going on got some swings and misses on that sinker. Which is really what he can do with power sinker dollar down a little bit and get some swings and misses over it It's GonNa take some work to do that. But that's a next level for him You know to to swap out some of those walks with some strikeouts because of his bid sequencing or because of how he plays off of the sinker I think is kind of an evolution for him as we Wrap up the week I get. You know this question constantly. I know you do as well but who is stood out for you in this camp. As far it's early but who stood out. It's a good question. I think While Dylan Carlson comes to mind Brad Miller comes to mind Just in the sneaky number of ways you can help at theme and you know it okay. Game against the as really good game in that split squad game against the the nats Just real likable presence to I think I think brings some some grit some seasoning. I guess for lack of better word to the to the bench as well as being left handed playing all over. I think gyro has had a really strong start to the camp Junior Fernandez has pitched very well I think Genesis Cabrera probably has had the most impressive pitching outing that I've seen so You know that those are those are some that have stood out to me. I'm sure there were others There are mentions Thompsons Ben Quality I throw in Cody. Whitley to yes cody. Whitley pitch against the braves. And you know what he's got Yeah I like the look of him I like I. I got a sense of that. He's GonNa leave an impression that that lingers and means a call up in June when necessary that kind of thing Derek. Thanks have a great weekend again. The next telecast on Fox Sports Midwest is tomorrow at noon against the nationals. In all see at the ballpark world champion nationals. You better say that. Because they they're getting a little frustrated that you know Houston's gotten a lot of attention for a couple of. Yeah Yeah there the last of the clean champs right. That's the way I look at it and I am so cool today. Park is a I would give it a a strong. Hey very impressed it. This is the direction that Florida ballparks are going down for spring training. And that's a that's a good thing. Cardinals were over there. Taking some cues from it trying to get some inspiration the renovations in terms of what's going to happen to Roger Dean and the whole complex. When does that take place after the cardinals? Leave for the twenty twenty one season. Gotcha okay all right. I'll see you tomorrow. That's the current plan for groundbreaking thanks. Derrick sounds good. "Com. They're available twenty four seven. A better you you bundled up because I I feel like my tan is getting a little deeper by the day. I I don't know I mean that's just kind of how I feel. Rub you've got a few more A few more days to do it. And then I'll be down there Soon enough my pasty whiteness. And I'll be the one guy who Who looks like he hasn't been their offspring? It'll be great. Yeah that'd be alright though but I'll be glad to have you down here in person and you can you know let it rip down here. 'cause you're you're just you're hot taker so I'm looking forward to up. Yeah I think it's been way too It's been way too nice. Calm down their time to come down and fire some shots and get some people stirred up. No it's been seems like a pretty Seems at least from afar like a pretty pretty good spring so farming. Look you date to have a pitcher Have an injury issue. But it's not really spring training until a pitcher gets hurt so That is to be expected. It happens in pretty much every camp all across baseball and it sounds like there's at least some optimism regarding Michael has been able to be back sooner rather than later obviously will miss them starts early in the season but could be could be worse by the sounds of it so we'll see how that plays out but then added it's been. It's been all cupcakes and lollipops down there. It seems like Oh you bet. And those who continue on Fox Sports Midwest this weekend as you know me being the right shoulder that I am But anyway the first game will be on Saturday and it'll be the first look at Jack flaherty since we saw him in the post season but also our first. Look a Saturday's game. Also featured Dakota Hudson and I'm really intrigued to watch a K. K. Kim Who they signed from the Korea Baseball Organization the K B O so. I'm really looking forward to seeing what direction the cardinals go. Because I do think they have depth in that spot. Believe me Michael. This'll be missed but I I. It's not like a a fatal blow. I think that this is something that they can get through. Especially if he's available to come absolutely. I mean this is why they added a starter this offseason not because they knew Mike Mike get injured but because they wanted to have some more depth there and I think that makes the addition of Kim look really wise If it turns out that Michael was going to miss more time than they expected than you know they're going to have to hope that somebody emerges but look all this really does. Is You know take what was a six-man group and cut it to five for five. Which is a lot better than the cardinals would have been if they would've made in addition and Kim. I'm eager to see him to I think I think there's some real good motivation there for both guys in Kim and Carlos Martinez in I think you would. You would be underestimating. Probably the motivation that the cardinals gave Carlos Martinez by adding a pitcher. This offseason who has a chance to at least before michaels went out beat him out for a spot in the rotation. I mean you saw how Carlos looked when he showed up to camp He was more prepared physically ready to go more focused than we've seen him in some time and I think the cardinals plans this offseason the moves they made in adding. Kim made an impact on that. So it'd be a motivated group and we didn't mention the guys who are still on the outside looking in. You know the the Austin Gombrich. The Daniel These guys are saying. Hey every time somebody stumbles we tuition injury on anyone but every time somebody stumbles that these guys get a little bit closer. And they're hungry so I'm not worried about the cardinals pitching. I'm not worried about the rotation. I'm not worried about their bullpen. I think they've got a lot of young arms. That are that are talented. And that's the way you want to build a bullpen. Now it's less about guys who've been there and done that more about.

"Oh that's right after the game that night. It's I mean you're half a mile from the terminal and it takes an hour. Bitch put away to Wong left batter, one at home. That's why I avoid LAX at all costs. Burbank is the way to go or John Wayne down in Orange County. Wanna know the count on one the pitcher's spot. Hudson on deck. The pitch fastball high to an old account on Colt Wong. Yada here. Bellina. Leadoff. Single lease at second base. Hi set for Felix paint, the pitch, a fastball high and outside and it's three zero on Colt long. Eight hitter for the cardinals here. Gotta Molina out there at second base. Cardinals can look up on the town scoreboard. See they're getting help from the Mets and nine nothing lead at Wrigley for the Mets today. Pain is three oh and Wong takes up way he walks on four pitches and there's two on for Tacoma Hudson. With one out. Since struck out in the third inning. As per usual double-play candidate is pitcher right here. All he all about execution by hanging. That'll summoned Brad miss out for the moun- talk it over with his battery to make sure that. They work their way through the situation. So interesting to manage your making his visit and not the pitching coach for the angels. Doug light. This more you'd think a strategy I think it's more of a strategy and obviously, when you have a skipper, who was a former catcher has been in this battle tested in this situation. Plenty of times over his long career. Wants to make sure they understand. A key component to. Working through this situation. See if it works here too, on one out, scoreless in the bottom of the fifth Dakota Hudson struck out in a third yacht air believe second base Colt one at first Hudson is four sacrifice butts this season. We'll see. He's looking at advanced the runners with Matt carpenter on deck. Pools expecting playing up at third while Fletcher, a little bit deeper at third base hanging to cut hang out the cutout. Hi, set for pain you right hander is Hudson squares in a pitch. A fastball pun toward the mount Paine field. Spins throws thirty gets away from what you're down the left field line trumps Belaid flight around third one right behind him. Tacona Hudson up at second base and to nothing lead for the cardinals. Missed opportunity for the angels. You got exactly what you were looking for a playable ball and Qena. Just I mean, he throws it in the gutter. Sacrifice iwon. No sacrifice just at one. That's good throat pain. You probably gets Molina third base. Yeah. And what happened I think the exchange from law to hand for Panya wasn't real clean. So we didn't have a great grip on it. And ended up gangqi it trying to keep it down. And ended up having a little better grip than he realized. That carpenter the batter double in the thirties, one for two to nothing Saint Louis a big air gets Felix painting. Pitch carpenter. Takes a fastball for a strike, and why is it that pitchers hookah put the ball in a dime to home, plate have such difficulty at times singing throwing the ball to a pace? I mean when you consider right over the course of a season. Two thousand and three thousand pitches thrown the home plate. How many times are they throwing these bases and and for him? He had to reverse pivot spin and throw. And I just think it has another element of exchanging from glove to bare hands, and that what goes through the legs of jar the Luke, ROY fastball. It was in the dirt s- from pain ah. Then it slipped through the five hole of Luke, ROY and awhile pitch advancing Dakota Hudson over the third base and. The hockey terminology considering in the town of the Stanley Cup champion, Saint Louis blues as much as it pains me to say that being a big San Jose Sharks guy. Like I am it. Kevin winter the studio. The big Bruins guy that deeds. Worth a good for the city. They needed cardinals haven't been to the playoffs in three years. The Rams left. Needed something in terms of sports catch carpenter. Pops it up in the infield, the infield drawn it right site. You're the bag at first bays and it falls in pool halls endless Dilip up into one another, and they're going to call foul ball as angel Hernandez, the higher behind first base on a pop up right near the bag at first pool holes was having difficulty with it lets Stella coming over and they bumped into one another. Now, wait a minute. What's going on, because the stella's over third base, and that's wetter. Ellis glider. They flipped them. As they bumped into one another the ball landed. Right. On the line that trickled foul before crossed the first base back. I don't know what Fletcher could possibly be thinking. I mean he was over on the first base line slightly in foul territory. I mean, you've gotta know you gotta fielder there, you've got our pool host there, even if Albert I mean, you gotta give way to him. Want to pitch breaking ball paint and two carpenters fouled off out of pointing over the third base side. And they've given an error to Fletcher on the plane. So even though he's playing second base at least unaligned card. He is the third baseman, and it's an e five charge to Fletcher and brought to us was I asked this before the ball game moving pieces around, because we've seen Fletcher play short second, even with his alignment upper in Defoe, endless, Stella in the game, the stella's at third base now was to the right of second base. I don't understand this one to pitch. Swing and advance chasing fastball up and carpenter. Strikes out there. Juillet. Let's pause ten seconds for station identification. You're listening to major league baseball on ESPN radio and ESPN live for the first midwest Bank studios on State Street. You're listening to ESPN one thousand yu-, MVP, Chicago. Along with Chris singleton. Kevin winter, the studios Roxy Bernstein with you push stadium in Saint Louis to nothing. She'd right now, we have Thomas delight second base. We do. Yeah. So I, I don't I don't know that I've seen a team shift this way. The pitch. The young lions third spirit off to the left side by Fletcher to retire the side as they're shifting work that Fletcher makes the cats to runs honor and truly cardinals at the bottom of the if Tommy Lewis Dallas there. "Five thirty five in the Queen city. This is chick Ludwig with the Kelsey Chevrolet. Extra inning show. The reds fall to the cardinals today. Six to three at Busch stadium in Saint Louis and Marcel Zona definitely the star this game at three run home run a two run double five RBI's. And he's the guy that did the reds in today. Tyler Malley takes the loss and Dakota Hudson gets the victory for the Saint Louis cardinals in the Saint Louis cardinals one of the really great franchises in all the baseball. And you know on a Friday night after they get hammered at home by the rich twelve to one this team the cardinals as a day of a tremendous amount of pride. You knew they were not gonna lay down today. Okay. So after falling behind two to nothing they fight back and wind up winning this game six to three in front of a crowd of forty four thousand one hundred and ninety seven. So a lot of those fans disappeared last night is the reds play pile on. But man, they're back again today. Just incredible franchise. No doubt the Saint Louis cardinals tremendous amount of pride fighting back rebounding with a six to three victory today. And there were a couple of innings that were really critical here in the in the third inning. When the red scored two runs a you. Hainault sore has got tossed out at the plate to end that inning man in that would have given the Reggie three to nothing lead at that point. In the sixth inning. The inning starts with Paul diong. Make it a brilliant play on a ground ball from a you. Hang yo sore as very very close play at first base. But a brilliant play by Paul diong and in that inning. Derek Dietrich was credited with an RBI sacked fly. And it came very very close to being a three run home run. So right there band baseball. Like a lot of sports a game of inches. No doubt. And you heard David bell say if Dexter Fowler's throw was just a little bit off line swore as what a scored in the third inning to give the reds a three to nothing lead. That didn't happen. It was on the money swore as tossed out at home still the reds Haiti to nothing lead. They could not hold it in Tyler.
