"Tia Carrere and Daisy Fuentes and ladies day. Yes. You ladies are looking lovely. We're like a benetton. These are on the day. I love this. Well, let's get straight to this because Kim and Pete finally did it. They posed on the red carpet together. For the first time at The White House correspondents dinner. Now Kim looks gorgeous in a balista couture gown and Pete suited up in Prada, but kept it real with the vans. Hey, 'cause that's how we do it. Now what do you think that they decided to make their big debut here instead of waiting for the Met Gala tonight? And she's a lawyer. She's a lawyer now. She's going to the correspondents dinner. She's a lawyer. It's a whole rebranding. Oh, really? That's what you think. I do think, I think she's been to the Met Gala before. And she's been with Kanye, has she been with anybody else other than Kanye? No, not that. Just designers. That's it. All right. So this is new for her, being invited to the correspondents dinner. Is really new for her. So I think that it was important for her to make a debut. There, instead it was unexpected. And I agree with you Tia. I think she's trying to change her profile. She has been fighting for civil rights. She's been fighting for prisoners rights. She has taken the baby bar from what I remember she has passed it. And they were the stars of this show. That was a very smart move. Because everybody else, the correspondents dinner is known as the nerd prom. So there is nothing but the news people and stuff. But actually because I was watching the live feed of it, people loved them. It's good to shine a light on the journalists and the people that are out there. You know, giving us our news, which is our life's blood for information in the world. And can I say that that balenciaga dress looks fat. That was beautiful. That was the appropriate class. You know, very classy. And he looks like the comic, but she cleaned him up. I'm proud of Kim. She has cleaned him up. He's shaved. He did everything. He wore the glasses. He looked really cool. So I like the best. This is good. This is a good and you know who else was excited? Martha Stewart. And she was really excited to see them. Now, Martha was a guest of daily mail dot com and pose with Kim and Pete and she even helped Pete's hands. And thank you to daily mail for giving us this photo. Martha actually posted this on her IG. I mean, do you get excited when you see, you know, people like fans like this? Like, you know, celebrities? Absolutely. And I really love when it's when it's really unexpected, like, I mean, we used to it now. Martha Stewart, but she's her and snoop. Yeah, she's made it a point to hang out with everybody that you would not expect her to see her with. You know? We used to have this really kind of uptight image of her and kind of very serious and she really shows us a really cool part of who she is, I think. Yeah. Good mash ups, right? Yeah. The Grammy mash ups just like Martha Stewart mash up. But the question is, Tia. And daisy. This is your last chance. Uh oh. Do you think that they will walk the carpet tonight at the Met Gala? Because you made a bet with Justin Sylvester. Yeah. Okay? I mean, you said you haven't paid Justin a $100 if they don't show up together. He said they won't. You say they will. Come on, what is it now? I mean, if I was Pete Davidson, I would want to go to the Met Gala. And if I was Kim, would I say no, honey, you can't go 'cause I went there with Kanye. She'd be like, of course, let me make it happen. Let me make it so for you, sweetheart. So I mean, if I was him, I'd be pushing to go and walk that carpet. So that's what I'm facing it on. Oh, really? I don't know if he's that excited about going to..

"It was. That is the best thing ever on. That's going to be so fun. I can't wait to see you guys. We'll have fun and that's a great venue to go out and yeah for sure. So what's next for you. What are you looking forward to I don't really know you know. I'm going through a stage in my life right now where i really feel like i'm semi retired. I've got my brand is still going strong. But it's kind of on a roll right now. I'm enjoying working with that. But when it comes to my tea work. I feel like you know something comes along. That's great. i'm open to a pretty much not pursuing anything you know. I'm i'm really. I just to enjoy life. I wanna live. You be balance the law. You what. I'll be traveling with richard a lot so i'm looking forward to that as well but you just feel balanced now. I think so. You know there's a part of me as you know from so many years of working and just you know being in it. There's a part of the field like you need to be doing something. But i want to be comfortable with the idea of not needing to do anything and i need to get comfortable with that idea. That's yeah i don't. I don't know if i if i think i'm too like what's the word. I'm looking for like insane anxiety. Ridden or something. Where i need to constantly. I mean i'm good at relaxing. Don't get me wrong on vacation. I take my recharge. And all of that. But i'm i'm still feeling like i got something to do like i gotta go gotta go gotta go. I feel. I feel a little bit the same way but i need to be sure that i'm not just doing that. To the sake of being busy. I need to check in with myself and say to myself you know. Am i looking for things to because these are genuine passions. And i feel like i need to contribute something to this production to this cause to this event or am i just doing something for the sake of busy because that's what i'm used to all know. Yeah i would say. I may have been that a few years ago and especially when my kids were really young and i was feeling like i hate to say trapped. But you know it's hard to go from a full-time working person to a full time. Stay at home parent and you know it can be really isolating and depressing and all that stuff and so. I think that time. I was probably more like that. Also but now. And i think especially after the pandemic i feel like i have cleaned house literally and figuratively with people and things which is great. And i feel like you know. I've actually reset my boundaries with people. Even family members that. I needed to do that with where you know some like first of all. How do you realize that you need to do that. What's what's the what's your tip that you need to do that. And then how did he do it without dramatic yes. Sometimes it's glaringly obvious boobs. Look if you have a person in your life who you are not related to and you can easily get them out of your life or sort of elegantly extract yourself just not the as available and kind of get out of it you can but there are times where we have people in our families that we love. But that really aren't good for us and it doesn't mean i mean terry is kind of like more the he would cut someone out of his life and not think of it. I don't know if this is like mars. Venus thing but i i'm not like that your family i love you but you make me insane and i wouldn't be friends with you. I love you and you are my whatever fill in the blank. So in the past i would just i would get into arguments with them or i would be so upset all the time and i would make myself crazy and i've really i think this is. I think this is a matter of getting older that. I've come to the point where i am less reactive and even if i react sometimes i can step back and go okay. This is just not serving mate. This is not important. I can't control this and and look this person never going change. You can't change people you can only change your reactions to them. What become good at is limiting my exposure and doing the exposure on my terms. And what makes sense for me and my family. So that i honor these people or this person and we still have a relationship but i dig it in the way i can do it. I agree with you. I don't like cutting people out and getting dramatic because that that energy stays with me. I don't like it. i don't. I don't like the feeling of having to run into anybody where i know. It's going to be like a hard situation. I hate that so not that with anybody but it is important to to limit your exposure to certain people who make you feel like shit bad yet and we had like in my life. We had a bigger family. And everyone's split off and half. The family doesn't talk to each other anymore and it started with not that they were fighting but my grandmother and her sister so the that's where the two lines and the two families completely stopped talking and what's interesting is with social media like my sister will tell me. Oh so and so mesic cousins random cousin that i haven't spoken to since i was like in sixth grade or something but i know they are but the whole family split in half and i thought why. Yeah yeah no one ran over your cat like what what could really. That's tough because i mean i have a very small family. It's just me and my sister. My parents and my dad's an only child and my mom has one sister very small family. But i i can. I can understand why people don't talk to each other. i mean. sometimes it's just you don't have anything in common and why Blood be the only thing that forces you to be. You know if you get along rate and you don't then no hard feelings walk but like point walking into a restaurant were you all small town and no one says hello to each other. I mean that's different. I should at least be able to be cordial say hello. how are you just. Everybody should be adult enough to realize that you're not going to be super closed but no hard feelings. The you don't dislike each other. You just brought whatever reason you don't have to be families you don't have to be best friends. You could just keep it civil. It is hard though. I see with my four kids like two of the girls. Don't really get.

"You're all together and you plan things to do together there and of course you can still go to two different ports on see but i love not having plans where everybody can just always be together like. You're sharing all your meals and you've got things to you just together whether you're swimming or whatever it's a really great bonding terminent. Sue beautiful Wonderful experience that. That's one of my Big lurch kind of Experiences of i have to say you know. I spend money on something. It's creating memories or for my friends family. I love doing that. That's so great. And i love how close you are with richards kids. Yeah they're awesome. They're also there. They're friends you know. I mean i care for them. Like i like. I realized that the young. And i have this trend of protective thing. But i also realize that they're adults and they're more friends than anything so there's a time where i some advice is solicited or something. I definitely give advice. I know it's not my place. Which makes it really easy for us to finance. That's so interesting. You're such an like a natural nurturer. i am. I keep an eye and that's my nature to want to protect and take care of and guide at takes so much for me to just keep my mouth shut and be like not. It's not visit to shut up. Don't say which which is. the boys. Just got married up brandon. Neil door brand got married. Yeah yeah he married sira. she's awesome. She's like you know what i saw. Random picture but richard was on the show a couple weeks ago and we were talking. He was saying something about getting rid of mike. Yeah even i did not get that news alert by the way. Yeah we didn't either. It was during kovin and they kind of just went off and did it on their own. Because you know you can have a party. And they went to city hall. We couldn't go to city hall was right in the middle kobe. So they they you know. It was kind of news to us shortly before they went to do it. you know. They told us when they got engaged. And it wasn't long before that when they went city hall got married. And then you have you. Guys have a grandchild. Yes richard. does you consider it. Oh you don't consider yourself. Step-grandmother is that to aj inane. I do but but again. She's like the most awesome girl. And i don't think she sees me as grandma who has a grandmother's she sees me as a papa's wife you know and i do think she sees me as family but grandma i i see her as family our necessarily see her as my granddaughter. You know but do you think you'd feel that way about the three boys. If they had kids. You may be. Because i would know them from the moment. They're born right now it's different. That's that's very different. i recently got to know mattie. And she's awesome. But i wouldn't dare step in at as steph grandma. Because she certainly doesn't need that she's eleven like who are you lady right so we have on. I adore her. But it's a different feeling. I think that when all the boys when they have babies they decide to have babies One when you're involved from the very beginning and now i do know them all ass family. I think that i would definitely show more like us grandma. Yeah for sure. Yeah so interesting to me. Oh you guys are coming down here. Yeah we are that way yes. I know we're going to see you right. I guys stood up. And you're like. I'm trying to get tickets for this thing and richest like i think. I know someone tighter who because i don't want to be like grubby so antibiotic give him a task so like hey who do i like. I didn't know sam's number. So like who do i reach out to get tickets. Richard texier back and he goes on a group tax. And he's like. I know a guy. His name is marx. You could probably get tickets through him if you just let them know how many.

"Yeah yeah not. you mean like a beating. Old people like hamptons house. And isn't that the show europe. Are you all hang out in a really fancy house with a lot of money and like drunk and like yeah. That's your show heather. That might be a good point. I get you on misha. Maybe we could do a spin off. I love that but by the way you're traveling a lot you were just in switzerland. Yes review of switzerland. We got invited more acid. We i mean richard musician. That was the manteo jazz festival and they missed it. The last week. I got invited to be at the jazz festival. Yes guilty by association here so he got. The festival still hasn't the very stage in switzerland. They're they're over numbers very very very low so i think they're still being very cautious. The festival is still not fully up. It was richard play. No it was a private thing. That's why it was so good. It was they invited a few amazing musicians and it was all a private celebration of music and the sess Kind of making up for the last year that they weren't able to have one in this year. It's still not fully up so it's kind of gearing up in celebrating. You know that we all kind of made it through this nonsense and that we are gearing up to maybe have a proper festival next but it was a private thing in was really wonderful. Got mantra would never seen of this. One of the most beautiful spots on earth had been now so beautiful. So beautiful right there in lake geneva. We've got kinda crappy weather. I wanted to swim in lake. Geneva cold and rainy sex. No i haven't been to switzerland at all. It just looked beautiful absolutely beautiful. Are you a good traveler. Thanks so i used to be better a better traveler now. Everything kinda gets nerves because it's difficult to travel Just i mean unless you're you're flying private everything is just. You can't get any good customer service. Good service at all or everything is kind of just you're roughing the whole way and it's just you feel cattle and it's not a pleasant experience at all so you put up with a nonsense journey of actually getting there because you do want to see the world so i do. I do enjoy traveling. And i travel with richard law so sometimes traveling with richard on tour will be you know. Sometimes it's a private jet somewhere because you'd better make certain times than you have the luxury of that sometimes it's roughing unlike south west panel cattle class that ramana and at a four season so it's both really really good. We're doing both. I can't really see you. And richard at a ramada inn. But oh sure all the time i mean he travels. He plays everywhere and there are places where he plays. Most places. don't have a high and five-star hotel so right the in what's available it's it's it's what makes an interesting to be able to do those two extremes. I do get a kick out of it. I just think as i got older. I want to joy my home a little bit more gatherings here rather than always being gone. Yeah that's nice. It's funny because after being locked up for so and we were also busting to get out. But i think also made us realize that being home is kind of nice i enjoy it i really do but both both richard denied are used to always living out of a bag and being an airport. Which we've done that since we were twenty years old and i think that's his life. He misses it. he needs it. I admit so much anymore. So do you think once he goes back on tour that you won't accompany him so much well like i'll company him and and you know the fun places we're the we're the forest season stops are more of those yes by the way. How much fun did we have in paris. Oh my god he must get. That was one of my favorite. You're a great traveler. I'm pretty good but you know. I wasn't all i mean. It depends what we're defining i don't love anymore. I wouldn't travel by myself. I'm not an alone adventure. And i have known thick i am either and i have known people that are like i'm taking this alone drip and i'm going to go do this and whatever i just i like talking too much. I'd be talking to strangers. I don't know what i would do. But i'm not like scared to go. I just don't want to write my thing. Is that when. I see a beautiful place when i'm experiencing something i want so bad to share with people. I love friends family. Richard know by whatever you i like when we were in paris and we were having that wonderful moment where we're all having some champagne and talk and we were like we could see the eiffel tower down the street. I i want to share that with you. Like i love sharing that with all of you being with people experience that i feel like if i was by myself shoe would be fine but i would constantly be having to take celtics to send to people to see what's going on. I totally and i love like one one of the things. I love down that trap. All together in the bellows. Where with us to terry and i had decided to go to maison to caviar right and i think mike and nancy had gone somewhere else. I don't think they were even with us at first right and then it was. We're having so much fun. It's one of my favorite restaurants. I'm like nancy would love this. So i'm texting i go. We're sitting here by. And then i texted you. Where are you and you're like we're gonna go for walk. I go great. Walk two blocks to maison caviar. And then we're right on the corridor. Come and you're like what we're in work. Clothes i go. It's empty. you're fine and you guys came in. And we ended up drinking like beluga vodka and like having so much fun and laughing our asses up and it wasn't because they were like board together. We love being only gosh. My friends are here in paris to hang out. Yes i love that. Love that so much you know we. I remember. We were like okay. We're all gonna have a toast and because we've got exercise.

"I don't have a lot of crap from the past. I feel like there's a fine line between keeping from your past and hoarding. Because why i i just cleanse i the way i think of. It is kind of like if i were to die next month. One leaving for people to go through. And what don't i. What do i have that. I don't want anybody. That's what i'm talking about i would hold onto. Yes and i'm taking about like these pictures. And what i wrote in the thing like if my kids like open and go through it. They think that's funny as it cringely want them. And why can't you. Why can't your memories be like your instagram highlight. Reel why do we have to acknowledge if something shitty happened. I mean if you need to and you need to let it go or work through something. It's okay but i feel like for some reason. I wasn't getting rid of these but every time i open. That fox is bugs. Me when i see certain things but now that we're talking about it because i was very good perjure now that i'm talking about it. I feel like maybe. I'm just going to get rid of them. Let call let your narrative. do you. My kids will have beautiful memories of everything that we did together in their lifetimes. Do they really. I mean look. They'll have plenty to see things. I've done in shows and that kind of thing. They need to see that stuff. I don't really think it's about them. I think we also have to realize that when you think your kids about this amazing life in your kids are these. They are very fortunate and they're living an extraordinary life with extraordinary parents and a wonderful family however when they get to be your age and they look back at those pictures we all have these little hangups about our cell yup unclear gonna be cringing about some of the things that they were wearing that they were saying the video the way they were acting or whatever. Because that's just our nature. When i do think that we can judge ourselves for how we be hidden. We were young part of the journey that we have to take to be who we are right now. But i think it's important to keep listening snapshots like you said little snapshots from each era of your life. Those people who you love the the photos that make you feel good. He those everything go by the way it's two photos. I'm telling you. I have nothing. But i am going to go through the box and i am going to do that and i agree with you. I we have one little gallery while upstairs kind of private. I actually just don't have pictures everywhere. Because i was turned off along time ago. Remember going into. I can't say. I went into the celebrities home and everywhere you look. There was a picture of this person. I mean here. I am being fabulous year. And here i mean like the every and i thought oh my god. This is so crazy. There's like a million pictures everywhere. And maybe i shouldn't judge that maybe this person just really like looking at pictures of themselves everywhere but for me i i have like in the private area but with the kids everything is digital i. I don't print anything. I'm long past the days where they have to make posters for school and i have to print out a photo of anything. So everything's like on the computer figure. Someday i started by doing a family scrapbook. And all that. And i got to the point where i realized. What are they gonna do with that. They don't want it. I'm leaving more shit for them to throw out so it's all on the computer you want to take it and you just don't fine but as far as things like member billion sotos and little. What are you saying. Ask anything that makes me feel good and there are very few things that evoke of really nice memory that i'm just like oh let me just move onto this memories. Say anything just like ooh. That reminds me of a time where i wasn't so happy with myself or that. Oh i don't like this but not that person. It's almost like you. Delete delete that filed. Delete the file the minute you get rid of it you get rid of it in your mind that you just feel so much lighter because you don't have to think about it again. That's god's the pass it doesn't matter so did you do a big purge when you move. Yeah yes yes. And i'm still going to it. I'm still purging. i want less. I want less. I don't want to lead the burden to someone of having to sort through my crap. Nobody asked that well. My mother's a hoarder. And so. I had xavier at one point. She had like fourteen containers of storage. I finally got it down to seven. Kill me and even stuff still stuff. She saved. I was like okay so parents. Also oh really so you and reminds me. There reminds me of just old people who can't get rid of stuff because of i don't know why leave it somebody else to do it. You know in my finally had to say to her i go. God forbid something happened to you yesterday. We're throwing it all out. I just want you to know it's all going so you keep what you think you're going to use what.

"Successful everyone around me was still so hungry to achieve something that everyone goes to. La has an agenda for themselves. They're being very selfish. They should be because they are searching for their dream. They're following their whatever. Yeah and and they're very focused on muscle. No one really has time to to make roots and to just connect with people for the sake of connecting with people everybody's network on the time and it speaks. It becomes exhausting for me especially one to kind of settled on. You're happy with your life and you're not chasing anything anymore and everybody around you is feel like a little bit. You're over you know. Yeah i live somewhere in the middle. I have so many things that i still want to do yet. I'm happy where i am but i agree with you. It's a very that is a very difficult place to be. And you're right. It is that. I remember being with my sister and being on like wilshire boulevard or somewhere we lived like authored and and being on wilshire boulevard like outside the rite aid or something and the bus pulled up. It was like a movie and this guy gave off either qatar and he was like which way is hollywood and we were like that way and he walked into the sunset. Remember sister going what. We should've taken his name. Found out five years from now he was the next. You know whatever he was but it was funny it is. It's it's an odd place to live. But i do love it. I wonder if i would ever move back to the east coast. Yeah i don't. I don't think i would. I could spend some time for sure living part time in miami. You don't get the south. You don't consider that the east coast. I don't consider that these coast. I consider that kind of like a little island vacation every time where there is. It has an island caribbean. Feel and we also were spending more and more time there but we. We don't really feel like we live there yet. It's still kind of like our our weekend home so to speak or like our family holiday home. I would.

"Very is what i. Hey buddy how are you. I'm great mass. Oh good to see you. you're looking. You're looking awesome and handsome as usual as are you. It was like looking into mirrors. And it's like looking friends we've been we've been well. We meaning mean losing sleep not getting a lot last night knowing that my now good friend my first concert ever richard marx is joining us. This morning richard marx. How are you my friend. Good to see you. It's so good to see you. And r really well and when i saw scheduled i was going to talk to you. Got spunk. like a little girl. The irony the irony. My mom had to drop me off in a volvo station wagon at the fox theater in atlanta with my date. Michelle to watch richard marx come from underneath the stage locked up with his piano performing the most beautiful ballot. I don't know. I think it was endless. Summer nights you did that coming from the ground. I think i remember when we came up with that bit. We thought it was just the most bad ass thing we'd ever seen. Yeah me too. And the fact that ryan you know eighty years later concer memory so the fact that you're you're still defending me and coming on the show. After i had. I sang with him. The only time i sang ever in american idol was with richard marx. And it was. I'm not a singer but he was gracious enough to close his eyes. And let me do this. I can't pain a nation possible. It's possible that somebody would've told you you were not going to hollywood possible but you looked at me like like a brother that new. I had no talent but wanted to convince me i remember. I remember that right before we we went on. I couldn't believe on nervous. You were and it was so this guy you everything that you've accomplished in the amount of hours you've spent in front of millions and millions of people aren't the inches such a pro in. He looked at me backstage. Giants like he was about to be executed. Yes you got. You got nobody. Nobody's expecting you to be michael bolton out there just go out. Listen richard marx. This is there's there's a lot of a lot of things going on a mention a performances performance. But he's got a memoir. He's got a memorable stories to tell. It is out now and you continue to have a youthful fitness about you so you must eat right. You must eat well. Yeah we eat. Well daisy unite adopted a plant based diet about seven years ago. Business called installers artists would show up to a big record store music store and sign stuff and the blind will be out the door and you took pictures of the people. It was a great fan interaction kind of thing and what was cool about the stores. Aside from that was that at the end of it the managers of the store would say to me or any ours they go. Hey walk through the store and just grab a few things if you want you know just as a thank you is a bag. Go back in this one time. There was this calendar section. And they had you know whoever at the time Heather locklear deadly heather locklear. They all already at time right. "Down a Trump Pompeo investigation into the lab leak theory claiming that it was too expensive in time in time. Consumer too expensive Even though we spent $87 billion a month only first was too much. It just tells you one thing they don't want to know. The truth about Covitz origin. They wanna blame trump more than they want to blame China. What does that tell you about the current administration? I ran. Paul Rand. Paul, who were big fans of here. Rand. Paul. He's a real doctor. Yes, I'm Thomas. Just a real doctors. You see me? You think very hard to be in optometry. Not easy, like somebody following life, said his retina reattached. I was thinking about that something Dr Paul would do exactly. I was like that is it That's advanced fact that they could do that He Received a suspicious package of his home, so they had a bunch of bunch of white powder in it. Here we go. These white powder packages again. Everybody looked into it. And I know it's they're gonna investigate who sent it? But nothing was. It was probably just, you know. Detergent or something like that is meant to scare vegetarians. The front of the envelope has a picture of him with all of his bandages on and all of that from getting attacked by his neighbor, he said. I would have the front of the envelope said I would finish where your neighbor left off him. Basically threatening to kill him. So apparent and Rand Paul is now blaming this on who It's seriously. Not that guy. Not who know it don't mean nothing. Richard Martin. I think Richard Marx himself. Yeah, yeah. I thought you were hitting try. I thought you had another. You had Richard Marx over those like how did you pull that out? There we go. I don't wanna play that song. That's not that's not the right song. I tried. Good job. You did Good. Never mind. Fantastic. Their radio narrative. Here it comes. Remember this. Remember this guy? No. Unfortunately. Let me fast. Yes, they say wow. This is what 80 satellite in case you're not old enough to remember. Oh, I know Every word of the sun. Good. You're Richard Marx didn't get better for my money. I tell you Okay, Yes, the 80 singer Richard Marx was tweeting out that he would buy you would buy Rand Paul's neighbor as many drinks. As he could possibly consume, essentially saying, good job trying to kill the man where we're proud of you for doing that and all because Rand Paul, a real medical doctor. Is questioning the vaccines and questioning Fauci is motives and questioning flip flop vouches, flip flopping, very proud. I got that ally getting dumped. So the actual man that asks questions a real doctor that ask questions of a real scientist. Is now being threatened. Do with this with his own life and having suspicious packages. This is the craziest thing about this because we just spent the entire month of May and part of April talking about hate crimes and AP eyes a new term America get introduced to we were, like, all right. We don't want Asian people to be beat up. No shot in America. We don't want anybody to be shot in America or beat up. Unless, of course, you're a political enemy. And you're Richard Marx and feel like I don't care. I will buy the guy that beat up Rand Paul drinks. Come on, Richard should have known better. Oh, no, not should have, although he did marry Daisy Fuentes. If you remember her from the well, well,.

"It's still bad down to Mike Pence. Now mister president you were talking before how both you and Richard are both married two models. Richard is married to supermodel Daisy Fuentes and you are married to Melania. Oh, I think Richard wins that won by a landslide. What do you think about the Battle of the supermodel wives? Well, it's no contest. I mean, I've been with Mesopotamia for so many years and I you know, she was never on T. It's Daisy Fuentes ones that one of course and she's a she's a beautiful Cubans love Trump. So it's like, you know, I now know why she's not part of the podcast because it's sort of like Richard Marx is sort of like, I don't know the beautiful Cuban women. They love Trump so much Let Me Darlin stay away from the podcast. I don't you get to enticed by the power of trump. So now I would I would say she wins also and you know dead. I have no I have no loyalty to melanoma so I can be honest. I don't think Richard is nervous about putting his wife on camera for you to steal her. I don't think that's one of his worries. Okay, shaking his head no to so agree to disagree because you know, one of my African-American supporters once called me steal your grandma without her consent as like a meme they put out. So, you know, I think there's a there's a lot of people find from very enticing. Now you were also speaking at the beginning of the episode about well, you used to have a very powerful presence on social media Mister president off on Twitter and you were saying that Richard has some strong Twitter hands. Also, would you like to discuss that? well, you know Richard is reminds me of myself on Twitter in his own way because there's these very positive tweets and he shows art and his friends making music and it's very nice a little weak. But it's nice and then if somebody crosses Richard Marx and this is what I like about them to be honest. You would think I respected I shouldn't say I liked it but I respect it is when somebody comes at him and his mentions dead. He's not afraid to take a Twitter acoustic guitar and slam it over that Twitter head and you know, you can you can show that not agree with somebody's politics or their opinion, but you can reject the way they go about their business and people show to think up. It's the same thing with me. We're both sort of 80s hair icons. Okay, and then people think oh because you are very powerful hair. I'm going to come at you and Richard Marx plays the smackdown. He says no no, no. No, you're not going to do this not here. Not now not ever so even though I don't agree with his politics birth. He represents as my African Americans would say represents very well on Twitter Richard. How would you look at yourself on Twitter long? Do you see yourself compared to Donald Trump with your strong Twitter hands. Oh boy. I it's like looking in a mirror except only took one of us.

"Here very nice if he and daisy Fuentes to join us for who's human who last Friday I did I did not get a of any kind of advisory on this are we going corona free again this Friday and it only corona free the beer because we're drinking the corona beer don't question about that but are we going we're going virus free in front I don't know the answer to that Kevin Lauren you guys around the building well I'll find out for I was actually thinking about that today I was going to send a note to someone the bosses so off I'll do some by reporting for you right now give a detailed report coming up so I just got back don't ask me I have no idea what's going did you find your office he had to do it were you able to do that was able to find that I was also looking at the signs that say don't worry the bathrooms are open because there are signs outside that say that they're not way to blow the secret wait a second I didn't say which one specifically so they put in all the bathroom door saying that they're under repair to keep other floors and people from using our bathrooms but now you just went I did just what Laura Blewitt no five what are you just blow it was blowing a vest that's All I Want to say wrote your fault for bringing up anything about the all rights speaking of re opening or opening or things are open that are closed we have state legislator Jim Durkin with us right now he is the house minority leader and I would like to understand leader Kim what is your position as the weather Republican position is on the opening of the state and they the protocols that were left by the governor in his press conference this week do you think it's enough it's not fast enough it's too fast what your thoughts no it doesn't work it's not a question of faster too slow it just doesn't work it doesn't make sense yeah today I was involved in a press conference and I talked about one area in particular that is very important office that's hospitality industry bars and restaurants they are shut you're only allowed to be able to provide a curb service in right now restaurants are down to fifteen percent of what they normally would do they can't manage with what I needed I think it's important for people to put numbers in perspective before the stay home order there were five hundred and ninety four thousand power restaurant jobs in Illinois since then we've lost three hundred twenty one thousand of those jobs because of the stay at home with her the governor's plan yesterday says that the earliest earliest date that he would get back to opening up restaurants under limited circumstances would be June twenty seventh of this year so I received calls from large and small restaurateurs last night some of the large part large large corporations June twenty seventh can't work they will be filing for bankruptcy right now we have fifty five percent to twenty six thousand restaurants in the state of Illinois have been placed under our debt are temporarily closed these are real numbers that are going to collapse as everything else this is collection front of us I think if the governor that we have to do more we cannot and I mean I I want to be perfectly clear I agreed to stay home order but I told the governor yes I priorities health of people normally but the economic fabric of the state is collapsing before our eyes in to say that we can't manage and walk and chew gum at the same time it's just wrong we are in a in a beyond a panic mode right now in the governor cannot live by these arbitrary dates that he is set up under his feet and clap ones that will destroy middle Illinois in a lot of family businesses that are passed down from generations unless we get involved or self meaning the legislature involved ourselves in this process the state has been run by executive order since the beginning of may I have a responsibility to the people of Illinois is great it's not as it's close to the governor I have a constitutional obligation to to prepare budgets to pass laws for the governor to execute on so we have a one person is running the state it doesn't work okay well let's start with the restaurants here first no I I totally understand that I I have my family and me personally been involved the restaurant industry for a long time in one way or another the question that I think a lot of restaurateurs have is if they do re open if they do take the risk of rolling the dice and reopening and bringing people back specially they did the PPP loans will there be customers if if people don't feel safe going to the restaurants that could be just as bad a disaster as keeping them closed at least if they're kept close there might be another federal relief package available that seem to be working on that in Washington a lot of the restaurants today I could pee pee pee I do know that if this is if we have to give the restaurants an opportunity yet without getting into detail the national restaurant association has set forward a very thorough protocol about how to run your business in these times we have to give those restaurants and bar restaurants a fighting chance and if we wait until the possibly as governor said the end of June is when they would be at least thought would be the earliest you consider the latest you consider opening up restaurants I ate it it the business model doesn't work anymore in these these large and small restaurants will have to shut their doors permanently and that's going to put not only those people who are currently employed but we're gonna get into people work in the corporate office management and then you will have the beginning of the bankruptcy filings with restaurants yes many other industries have experienced restaurants in the hospitality industry take up ten percent of the workforce development and instead of saying let's work with you and see if there is any way for you to be able to function then let's do it but to just summarily say that well we're not going to do our best to do what we should be doing and that is balancing the health and safety of the health of people in Illinois but also retaining at least some type of economic integrity that small business owners have maintained for so many years well we're at a point we're gonna lose we are not this isn't this is I'm not making up these numbers are for real and the governor is going to hold firm to this executive order we are going to see a disaster of epic proportions within this okay and and I want to go back and just explain a little bit about what the executive order is or with the least but the protocols are that he laid out his his planet's planet it has been through the second quarter thank you great to be able to yet despite the governor's plan but if he turns this into an executive order that means that he has by passed the legislature again and I don't I'm not complaining about the past executive orders but we're at a point right now where the governor needs to engage the legislature on these important issues instead of just issuing the executive order and then saying you don't there was an oversight messed up I need to modify it we don't do we don't we don't yeah I just want to stand him and we're talking to see represent Jim Durkin has the house minority leader what if you it's not bad but I understand it properly we have the exact order in place right now that keeps everything essentially closed other than what was just open on may first until the end of may may twenty ninth I believe it is right and then after that there is no firm there's from guys have just been these suggestions industry in this thing that was as been released this week where we have the five phases one phase two right now phase four would be the place where the restaurants open again but I have it correct right but that's it but that's not hard and fast that's based on these other protocols that would be coming into play here which is good that you have to be in the second phase of a reduction of cases and new cases and deaths that would be there for like a top happened bottom half of those reductions so you have to see two more weeks a reduction and that's that's where you're getting into it so it would be like the two week starting on the twenty ninth and then the two weeks and that's that that's how we get to the twenty six number but if that is my understanding that's not hard and fast I hope you're right I hope that it is not and that it is that we can get beyond that because if by the first week of June the restaurants are still going to have this problem I mean I know that two in three weeks can make a difference I want to get that I want to make minimal that's absolutely true but the fact is that a lot of these a lot of these restaurants already have a problem are you suggesting that it's going to be different downstairs is our preference amongst Republican legislators to open up the downstate stuff faster because they seem to be less impacted at the moment look out for a couple counties residents state really has little or no Kobe cases and that was one of the reasons why I asked the governor to reinstate elective surgeries are procedures because the hospitals don't state receiving a covert patients so let's get back to doctors doing the business I've got a very diverse caucus I have some members who filed lawsuits who are not experiencing the same things that we experience here I have problems in my district but I also know that if we are going to just focus on the health without trying to save our economy we've done our job it up here it's a it's it's like everybody wants to have they they want to have their cake and eat it too everybody says we have to understand this I come from there under my roof we want to be able to keep people safe but we want to be able to try to get at least some type of getting back into some sense of normalcy that is done in a well thought out safe healthy manner right that's all I can ask for enough but I got to give the restaurant a fighting chance that's all I'm saying now M. I mean this one here the restaurateurs too is that it's in there all rock and a hard place nobody asked for this is the first time that we're going through this in this kind of an economic environment where we have a digital economic environment we have a written order economic environment and parts of the economy can stay alive thank god and others you know are unfortunately falling victim hard to these restrictions that are in place and the question is will there be some sort of economic bailout or at least for parents that is going to be given to these businesses so that they can stay in operation because you don't want to have all these store fronts going out simultaneously in them you know what happens to them and how do we start back up into me and I I brought this up at the very beginning Jim and I and I just I want to leave you with one more shot at this what do we do if people don't show up at these restaurants have to we've opened them up and we try to keep them alive and is there a plan for that governmental help we can't go that far ahead I'm looking at just we are living in the day by day week by week situation but I do know that if we do not make the necessary adjustments for the hospitality industry to give them a fighting chance keep your doors open and put people back into the kitchen and the front part of the restaurant they will never their doors will be closed forever so I I I can't predict the future but what I do know is that we are a very sophisticated society there's been a that has been able to do many things under the worst of circumstances and for us to say that we're just going to say well I'm sorry to the restaurants and hospitality industry you're just gonna have to wait until the end of June or the beginning of July before before we consider giving you a limited you know openings to go back to the public I don't know how we do that people's attitudes are to change but I do know that I'm not going to turn my back on this industry that that is the reason one of the major statements that I made today at a press conference and we need to go back to work in Springfield because there's more than just one person who runs the state of Kuwait will bridge the government representative thank you very much represented him very well I thank you appreciate it all right we'll come back after the news orient Samuelson is gonna join us because we're talking about the food chain the food chain the supply chain is been interrupted in the proteins in the meat it is maverick even Wendy's Wendy's says that many other stores have run out of beef and they're the ones who invented the beef the where's the beef why did that happen when's that going to come back orients Hamilton has answers to both of those questions on the other side of him Gordon's news which is right now for.

thought you should spell RO RO ET on the first album and you you refuse to do it damn yes yeah well graduations on this thank you this album limitless is amazing thanks brother we have well I I I I got to hear it right when you're finishing it yeah this summer and it is there are four hits on it absolutely gigantic has and you already have one well I had one we had a pretty good pretty good good run at the first single which was another one down which I wrote with this young punk named Lucas marks who happens to be my mind middle spawn prefers that as opposed to sign yeah yeah and all three of your sons are in the music business yeah right all working writers and producers and performers yeah and there is not one doctor not yes faster there was I think that at one point I I I I think that looks wanna be a dentist but I think that was only because I have like a I would actually probably prefer that yes that's right so there is a this but it's a good it is an amazing song and it's it is a do it top twenties right I've seen top fifteen on the adult contemporary chart yes an old guy like me right next to maroon five in a gallon that's awesome now let me just ask you this question does that did you have a top fifteen or top ten in the eighties yeah in the eighties right in nineteen eighty eight and eighty nine thanks seven eighty eight eighty nine okay right and then I need in the nineteen nineties yeah for for the two thousand U. dead yet and now the twenty tends you did yes and now in the twenty twenties you did that gives you I am I hello you know that's it five decades you have been in the top twenty well five decade that's crazy now how old are you thirty four that's a crazy thing Richard Marx when you stop and you well you know I mean I yeah somebody mentioned that my manager must not to me recently and I I kind of had to do the mental math on it I was like wait a minute but I'm fifty six so how right yeah how did that happen yeah my first charted song was a song I wrote with Kenny Rogers in nineteen eighty three so I was not even twenty nineteen it was called crazy and then there was another one on the same album that I wrote with Kenny Rogers called what about me that was a a trio of Kenny Rogers Kim Carnes and and the late great James Ingram wow so I hope and that went to number one on the adult contemporary chart crazy went to number one on the country charts so I was off to a great start at nineteen as a songwriter and you know I had shed number ones that that either that you wrote and performed or you wrote yeah right in all these decades to get on the twenty twenties yet will get this one and everyone before it's also it's also yeah wow I've got ten years I don't really think about that that's true I've got the pressure's off yeah right I I've got nine years younger so you're a slacker though Richard Marx that someone can know about you I recently news a ruse okay all right now the idea here if you want to play you news arose and maybe you'll be lucky enough to either land with Richard or learn after who will scratch each other's eyes out here because they're both very competitive three one two nine eight one seventy two I haven't even met her I wouldn't scratch doubts I'd to idea never in all my god you might you might she's she can really get you now did so if there's if you could just wait I'm a lover not a fighter yes okay all right we'll find out so if you wanna play news or is three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred reclaimed for some really cool stuff and Richard Marx is here and then I'm the other side of news a result we'll talk more about the the new record about me and my thing and what I'm going to go through song by song and I'm going to ask you what was it that you were thinking at the time I was there about me that you're it would be kind of interesting to find those things out I do it does it we did I leave before I get too far away from this because this new record we were in California in the summer in August and we were driving around with your beautiful wife daisy Fuentes yes in her new car and the top down and even though it's a hard top car I had no idea how they did this because it was like it's like the Jetsons car and we're driving up and down in Hollywood yeah blasting this record not out of the out of the car and I remember that front receives your fat I "And he invited me over to the studio. He's making a solo record and I'm sitting in the studio and I. I was just so thrilled to meet him and he was so trace such a charming guy. Then I'm sitting there watching them. They're doing backing vocals on this uncle. You are which became a huge hit for him right and they were really struggling with the blend. Couldn't find the sound that he was looking for and all of a sudden he looked through the glass at any point in us. Come out here I go out there. And he's using my part that I was singing and he switched. Departs with the other two singers and he went in the control room and when okay go chorus and we sang and he went. That's the sound and and I never missed a day at the studio. He said I want you to sing back vocals on this record. But I just want you to know that if I'm in this room whether you're singing you're not you're welcome to be in this room. And so for four months every day I went to the studio and watched him make that record. Kim At what a gift. What gift and so cut to and this is. You'll really appreciate this so cut to six months ago. Maybe I get this incredible offer to come in and open for Barbra streisand at Hyde Park in London and Barbara and I have been friends for a long time so wait a minute like could your life. Be Any more magical. Could Your Life Richard Marx be any more like blast married to the most beautiful in the world? Best friends with your three boys. Best friends with your eighty hair Mama. I'm fifty six. Look at the hair. You got great hair and you to open for Barbara streisand and you got you. Got A phone call at eighteen from Lionel Ritchie. Who Waco friends with a wait. This is great. This is such a book end so I knew that Lionel had played the night before at Hyde Park opening for Stevie. Wonder Wonderland Richie Barbra streisand. Richard Barks. You're killing me. This was the night before and then the next night was you and barbarian bar. Kris Kristofferson was on as well but and so I'm onstage and it was such a magical gig and then watching Barbara. Her thing was amazing. And I get back to the dressing room and there's a text on my phone from Lionel and the text says I'm sitting on my hotel balcony listening to you sing right here waiting and I'm so proud of you. I mean that's thirty seven years later. How sweet and I text him as a good were you. Let's go to dinner. He said I'm getting ready to go to the airport. But he said I'm I'm sitting here and I'm listening to you sing to these. You know ten thousand people in London and I'm just so proud of so go back the thirty six years to when you were a teenage kid and he called you and encourage doing your music and then the gift of time he poured into you in the studio and you know. I wrote a book about it. I talk about it on my show every night. The importance of of changing the world one heart at a time and I had a friend in my kitchen the other day said I finally got it. She said I finally got what she goes. This whole one hard time thing. You're talking about you. She'd been with me when I was interacting with some of my adopted kids and some other children that are families kind of taken in and she said when you pour yourself into one person it makes a difference Yeah S. That's my whole message right there. Well actually into one person like landlord. She did for you. Yeah the impact that has it's like that ripple the pebble in the pond. The ripples go out for ever that impact his impact and influence on your music your impact and your music's influence on June rations of people. It just grows and builds and an it's the essence. I believe of love and the reason. We're here yeah totally. I mean you can imagine when you're especially at that sort of age of seventeen eighteen to have someone like him say that to me was like a rocket confidence and hope like the fuel that that gave me was life changing and I have the only thing I've been able to do for him for Lionel is tell the stories. I want everybody to know I I I tell everybody who will listen with the best part about being friendly with Lionel Ritchie's when you call him and he picks goes hello Gotti so cute so for years. I've got to play music and now you're back in the studio recording again. Tell me about your new stuff because my producer Jane. He came to me a couple of months ago and was so excited. I love that I love that. Anybody cares at this point. But that's the cool thing about the fact that I'm you know I I still get to be on the air as I've I've seen I know the stories. I've seen the history I watch. Daisy Fuentes back in the day when I had a TV on. I haven't had a TV for twenty years for you. We we never watch TV but having that history and loving your music so it's really cool. Well you know I got to a point in the last ten years I'd say where I sort of Felt like touring and playing concerts is really what my career is. And if as long as I'm able to do it I really am a believer that Records and putting on the radio and all that stuff is really for younger people but the conflict was that I you know. I still write songs all the time. And I I love making new music and I love making records but I did get to a point where it was a little bit like. What's like Y Y you know? I have a couple of acquaintances who are sort of peers of mine around the same age or older than me that were popular when I was popular on the radio and they still have this what I consider a delusion of. I'm going to have another number one record. I'M GONNA and it's like dude. No you're not and it's OK because you had a lot of hits and I feel like once I determined that it really just has to be about my love of writing and recording new music and that's all that matters then it was like okay while I wanna make an album I actually. This is another great story. I I found myself at a dinner at really small dinner six or eight months ago with Chris Martin and I'd never met him before and I'm a fan. I'm a big fan of coal. Play in what he does and he's really really At least from my one couple of our hang with him he was really charming and kind and we had a couple of really great conversation. He asked me so. So I know you're touring all the time but like are you making a new record or anything. Yeah just finishing a new album and and I said you know I don't know what it means for somebody like me. But and so then somebody started talking and the conversation shifted for five or ten minutes and I could see Chris face like look. Look at me like we're not done with that conversation. Sure enough politely. He got out of that conversation and said to me kind. Go back to what you were saying like. I'll tell you what it means for you. It's still coming through you and it's like you said. I'm sure when you started writing songs at was about. Yeah you had a lot to prove in. You've had an incredible career but it's still about the song still come through us like as long as the song is still coming through us. That's what matters. And here's this guy. That's you know much younger than I am. Then it was a really kind sweet thing to say and it was like yeah man yes. That's exactly what it's about and so what this music is about is me just going in and having fun and recording the song the single another one down. I ended up writing with my son. Lucas and he produced it I wrote another song with him. I wrote several songs by myself which I have traditionally done. Most of my stuff has been self written but I collaborated with some New People in this record two which was really really fun young so I'm writers and and my friend Matt scandal from the band. Vertical horizon is my best friend. But also I think one of the most talented guys in the world and and it's a very schizophrenic album. Like there's there's stuff that sort of like modern country and then there's stuff that's like super modern pop and then there's like the it's all over the place but the thread is my voice and they. It's just a collection of songs. I really really love it. I want people to hear sympathizer very cool. That is pretty simple but pretty sweet and I'm glad that That you got another one down to get to us so that we could Share it with our love that you guys played. You played well. I'm very fortunate in that. You know there's all this research there's all this Gobbledygook that although record or radio companies do that that tells me who my target audience is supposed to be their big on research and you know. Imagine you're on the air you're talking to a twenty seven year old female driving home from work picking up her child at daycare and the data data but the truth is I get phone calls from young people. I get phone calls. I got a phone call the other day from somebody who lives down on Mount Shasta off the grid. He's in his late eighties. He cuts his own firewood because his cabin. The House that he lives in is only heated with firewood. And he's like completely off the grid and he's got this radio that he picks me up on every night when we talk for a long time and I'm like dude you are so not my target audience and I so love this conversation. We're having and so It's Nice a broad range of people get to hit to hear your music in other here right here waiting and all of your big hits every night because they're perfect for every request and dedication anyone ever makes. I don't know if you've listened but right here. Waiting is a song that that I used to play for couples who were getting back together or couples who had been separated by the military. Yeah that's that was huge for the especially when the song was a hit in eighty nine nose Gulf War yeah. I met obviously many men who were deployed. At the time. They'll go man. That was my song with my wife and my girl and I also met a lot of widows and widowers military personnel who died during that time and that was their song. This one woman told.
