"And five am for cities dealing with concentrated breakouts. Non Essential businesses will be closed during these times and people will be restricted to moving more than five hundred meters from their homes. Schools are expected to be fully closed. The final list of cities with curfews will be released today but I can tell you that the cities that were headed. For. Lockdown included a number of Arab cities including Afam, Thira and Qasim as well as the Orthodox cities of allowed bonaire brock Beta leads and Emmanuel Prime Minister Netanyahu stopped the order for those cities to lockdown after the mayors of four Orthodox cities said Netanyahu was quote turning us into disease vectors and enemies of the people as for arab-israeli mayors they seem to have supported the lockdown with Mayor Samir Muhammad telling Israeli TV channel. Con that quote the numbers speak for themselves there is no escaping lockdown. It hurts me to say it but it's the truth Arab Israelis account for about twenty eight point eight percent of the active cases in Israel despite being only about one fifth of Israel's population. Not only has lockdown been averted, but there's even a new campaign running with an open letter including ninety medical professionals who've said lockdowns are unnecessary Nobel Prize winner Michael Levitt along with emergency word directors have signed on saying a lockdown only delays the virus and doesn't stop it the letters main takeaway is that Israel needs to act like Sweden did with minimal restrictions in. A focus on gaining herd immunity so that a majority of the people builds an immunity to it and the infection rate drops to insignificant levels Dr Amir shocker the head of the emergency wing at Netanyahu's Laniado hospital says his department is handling the outbreak well, and that the mortality rate is not out of the ordinary in comparison to other viral diseases and that the hysteria. is totally unnecessary moving onto some world politics US President Donald Trump got a call from Saudi, Arabian King Solomon WanNa know what it was about. Okay. I'll tell you the call was full of words of praise. He said trump's diplomatic efforts in the region. appreciated. This comes just days after a US delegation including senior White House adviser Jared Kushner went to that nation hoping. To get Saudi Arabia to follow the UAE and established peace and diplomacy with Israel as well. The kingdom says they want to reach a lasting and just solution to the Palestinian. Cause to bring peace, which is their main starting point Saudi Arabia held quiet when the peace plan between the UAE an Israel was announced the two countries both have a common enemy which is Iran. In the meantime. Top Hamas and Hezbollah officials met over the weekend in a historic discussion in Lebanon to discuss the new arab-israeli ties as it affects military developments in Palestine and Lebanon. I have just a quick few stories I WANNA get to briefly before we head over to a very small little special report that I've created for the end of the show in honor of our fiftieth. Anniversary. And Israeli man has been indicted for allegedly shooting and injuring two Palestinians in the West Bank or Judea and Samaria whatever language is comfortable for you. He says, he was defending himself as he was simply taking care of his crops at the DOROTA elite. Near the Palestinian town of Bedia when a group of Palestinian men rolled up in cars forming a lynch mob and investigation found a mosque near by asked its members to stop the farmers and prevent the theft of Palestinian farmland. Palestinians questioned had a very similar story saying they too were peacefully farming when they were approached by Israelis, who were looking for a fight men. The Israel Nature and Parks Authority is responding to the request of the people there making a special hole near the Dead Sea segregated by gender so that religious bathers can each have their time enjoying mother nature. If you don't know Orthodox Jews and Muslims cannot be with the opposite gender because it's considered immodest a big demand from the Orthodox community has given way to special times designated for bathing in a not sukey nature reserve. This reserve hosts a series of shallow pools and one larger one that's better for swimming women will be able to swim comfortably on the seven and fourteenth of the month with men on the tenth and seventeenth of the month. And finally Israeli airline is rare has officially put in their requests for time slots to begin commercial flights from Tel Aviv to Abu Dhabi in the UAE following the mid August announcements of peace and diplomacy between the nation's how exciting. Okay. So now in. The Big Five O. or fiftieth episode of the Israel Daily News podcast I have a story about a breathtaking glassblowing shop. I want to paint the picture for you. I was just there yesterday. Let me take you to the case. Saria. Harbor. It's an ancient city named after Julius Caesar and built by the Romans. If you go there the ruins and mosaics are still present and very much intact the sun is shining over the Mediterranean and you can feel the heat of the September day as you climb the stairs to get up the studio and on the way you run your hand overhead sized glass blown. Decorating the handrails, some are blue. Some are read their smooth in the palm of your hand. You go in and see the open space upstairs with colorful glass pitchers. Glass plates cups in every direction spread about around the center of the room where there's a bar cafe area. Every direction has a window and it's showing the waves crashing onto the shores your at the farthest point in the harbor surrounded by water on both sides. Now, glassblowing is an ancient art form with its first creations coming out of this region they came from Syria and the phone nation people who created this in their harbor cities along the coast of what is today northern, Israel and southern Lebanon I ask some questions to Yellow Kausar, Co owner of Specula- glassblowing studios do those us you'll connected historically sue the people before you did this part of the reason that we decided to be here and not an tel-aviv..

New Nintendo Switch Rumors

"Joining me today is Tina Amini. Sam Claiborne. Everybody and Justin. Davis. Scoop Scoop. With great show you this week we're and talk about who Sony has deemed worthy of free ordering a place should five. We've got new details on. Lord of the Rings. But I. Do but I yeah. I gotta say that was a great read. You did a great job Tim. Thank you. Thank you. I was very nervous. New Rumors. Actually let's let's go this route rumors about a new version of the switch intend to switch or not new, but new rumors have surfaced this week. This is according to a report from Economic Daily News. IDEON the new version of the squid. Is set to lodge at retail first quarter twenty, twenty, one early next year report claims to be informed by sources in the console supply chain stores. The new version of the switch will feature improved. And a better quality display. Like I said the rumors about the sort of thing or not new. Tina. What's your read on this one? How likely is this to come to pass? You might say there. You'd rumors Damon because you're right. It's been a kind of like a a suspicion for awhile and it would not be outside the norm of of what Nintendo could do in terms of making sure the sustaining the life cycle of the switch. I know a lot of people wanted a pro switch. There's obviously a lot of conversation around the power not exactly being up the speed in terms of the current generation. especially as we're entering in the next generation, it's kind of being more becoming more important for Nintendo to. Make sure that they can step up on a graphical level as well as the convenience level because there's so many gamers that love the option of having to play their game on switch rather than ps four or or the xbox because you can just take it around with you. It's it's incredibly flexible. So if they are able to increase up to like four K. support for instance I, think that's going to be the kind of thing that brings them a little bit up to speed as we head into the next generation. Now you sound a little quiet on my end I. Don't know if there's anything you can do on your end or Chris who's our td working behind the scenes maybe he can work on that. But to get some more of us on this Sam. I believe you said a very recently that you don't even need a new version of the switch. That's still sure. Yeah. So what I think now is that there there's probably a good reason that the new switch is going to happen no matter what like I think like there are parts of that switch that are three or four years old that are harder to get now the new parts that are better. So we're to you know like if there's like a, that's what's funny when he brought up the supply chain part of this like if they're actually going to keep on making switches and remember it's hard to get a switch right Now Yeah that's a problem, right so if they want to get more people switches, they might need to change that up and if they're gonNA, do that they might as well upgrade it. So the screen is more definition as new processor those too easy things to kind of go forward and battery as the other one right up. But those two are interesting because I think that switches nice win. It can pace along with having the things like the witcher and which are three and and contemporary games on it like doom. If. It can't do cyberpunk if it can't do the things that are still like current generation but are coming at the end of this generation I, think that's a problem and that that's why okay. Well, if I'm really really being honest with myself, I would love to play cyberpunk on my switch I know to look. Here. It's a giant RPG that I'd want to like just veg out in bed and play you know. Just non woody what do you think? I consider these rumors renewed rumors. Tina. Put an extremely credible implausible You know it would explain it would explain why they're released calendar for the second half of this year is so so light to to non existent. The teams the Internet you know the subtext being that the teams are probably working on, you know switch plus games I'm less sure that being said that. They could make an upgrade to the switch hardware that doesn't necessarily make it more powerful the screen, and to be clear I, love my switch. But in the year two, thousand, twenty, battery life is very bad The screen is not incredibly high quality and it actually has a huge black basil. So, there's an opportunity you can see it right there on the screen like they wouldn't even need to change the switch factor at all and just make that screen edge to edge. Improve the battery life and make improvements like that without necessarily having to make a console that can do four K. output on TV or something like that. So I'm curious to see which direction they go like is it truly a switch plus that can do four k. you know when Dr met has more horsepower is just sort of like a switch plus that has the same internal components but maybe just a little bit you know nicer and premium feeling.

Why I took my Instagram & Twitter accounts private

"Before the pandemic I would I would always crack up because I could be on the train you know now. During. A pandemic it's is horrible here in New York I I don't take the train. I. Hardly go outside and when I do I, have a mask on. So people people rarely recognize me although I have been out even with a mask and a hat and people will come up which is always weird during the pandemic say are you Shaun. King. But before the pandemic could be on the train any day and I would take the train every single day and People would come up to me and they wouldn't say are you Shaun King they wouldn't say. Are you are you that are you that writer? Are you that activists organizer? Deer run the you know real justice. Grassroots. Law. They say. Are you the guy from instagram. And I would always be so surprised because. When I wake up in the morning. That's not how I see myself. I don't see myself as a damn social media celebrity. A social media as a tool and I always have like if you go all the way back to facebook and AOL even I've been using mass emails literally for over. Twenty years. You know I was I was on facebook when I was a student. I was Saban on facebook even even that is getting for over fifteen years. I've I've been on one of the first million people on twitter when it was just a a group of nerds and Ashton Kutcher and Larry King And So I've been using social media for a long time in is funny when people ask me. Are you that guy from instagram because I'm actually super late to instagram. I may have opened up an account early but I I really didn't use it like I use it now. Until way after. When I wished I really did And And so I'm always surprised by it, but it's a it's a platform that I use in an for years. I would even when I was a I was the senior justice writer at the new. York Daily News I was riding sometimes two and three articles a day every single day. And people who are all over New York would come up to me and say, Hey, sean, our each articles they will say something that really surprised me. They will say. Hey Sean I get all of my news from you. From your instagram page I'm like. Oh, my hold on. I'm the senior justice writer. At one of the local newspapers and busting my butt every single day and everywhere I would go people with a everything I learned about injustice I learned from you. On, your instagram. And and eventually, instead of being frustrated by it, I leaned into it and say, wow, this is a place that I. This is a tool that I need to us to be able to inform people in and and inspire them and point them in a in a certain direction. and. The more I use the tool. To organize, people to inform. To rally, US around causes rallies around campaigns justice change. The more I did that. The more the hate grew. The death threats grew. The spam grew and I brought in and outside secure what I have security I'm I'm recording this now from podcast studio in our house because our offices are closed. We. Have Security here at the house and we also have a cyber security firm and because so many of the death threats that we get come from online. And what we found was that. It appears multiple corporations. Are Funding. It looks like multiple different initiatives. To not only spread misinformation. And lies and spam on my page, but to flood everything that I do. With lies about who I am lies about the work that I do lies about my family Sometimes it's blatant misinformation about my perspectives or views. and. It wasn't by the the dozens or hundreds by the thousands on some days over ten thousand comments of blatant misinformation. I'm not talking about people with. Not Talking about real people with real critiques. But accounts that were created to flood everything that I do with blatant misinformation.

And, You know, people who know their history may remember this. But Pete Hamill was a pretty close friend of Robert Kennedy and Hammel helped persuade Robert Kennedy to run for president back in 1968. He worked on Kennedy's campaign. I brought to you weeks ago about an elderly couple who left Gaza to visit their son in an American University and now cannot return home. Well they will be according to Jerusalem court ruling. So I understand what the problem is here. Egypt closed its border crossings. The Palestinian Authority decided to stop communicating with Israel after Israel said, it would move forward with annexation plans the Allenby Bridge crossing between the West Bank and Jordan, which connects Gazans two flights out of Amman, has been open to Palestinians a few times to let those who are overseas come home. All of these closures have been due to the corona virus. So here's what the ruling says. The Palestinian Authority suspended cooperation. Israeli authorities had an obligation to find an alternative to enable the petitioners in this case to return to. Gaza. Leaving the Strip legally. The ruling only applies to this couple in addition to a psychologist who left for Tunisia in the fall to pursue additional studies. The judge said, he did not have the authority to make a blanket ruling across the board on the sensitive matter. and. We here at the Israel Daily News podcast are wishing everyone is safe travel back to their families and hope that this ruling at least helps a few people who are stranded outside of their home country. We here at the Israel Daily News podcast, which everyone a safe travel back to their families and hope that everyone who stranded on the other side can reunite with their loved ones. Now for an interesting story in the world of academia. Did. You know that a dozen universities in Egypt currently award degrees in Hebrew and Jewish studies. Well, arts has a very interesting depth piece on this from most Dafa Hussein. where he explains in detail why Egyptians had become interested in this field to start I'll give a quick breakdown of his paper in the early nineteen hundreds. Egyptians pursued Semitic studies but had to go to Europe to do so Egyptians wanted to enhance their understanding of Egyptian history and study biblical Hebrew and the history of ancient Israel in order to do that plus studying Hebrew helped aid the advancement of modern Arabic. If you tracked down aerobic words using Hebrew Aramaic, it's a good way to review the root words in. Arabic, and track the modern uses of these words in Arabic. Early interest gave way to modern universities like the University of Cairo to adopt and develop programs right into their home cities. So people no longer had to travel to the UK or Germany to pursue these fields Hussein who is a teacher within the Department of Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor finishes his piece by suggesting the inclusion of these types of studies into the country's modern curriculum shows the nation's tolerance and acceptance while also allowing researchers to criticize Israeli society and culture while expressing solidarity with the Palestinian? People. Those are his words I. Hope you've found that interesting and fascinating as I did. All, right. Well, that's it. For today's news. Today is Wednesday August fifth twenty twenty. "I'm here to give you the daily headlines. So you can get caught up quickly today is Wednesday August fifth twenty twenty. If you live here in Israel you're nearing the end of the work week. Give it another push, and by the way if today is Wednesday that means tomorrow is Thursday and we have a special report. Now. Let's get to the news. An explosion, a mushroom cloud, and a burnt orange cloud of atomic smoke reached up into the sky from Israel's northern neighbour Lebanon yesterday. Nearly, eighty people died and three thousand were wounded in the capital area. Lebanon's president, Michael Own took to twitter to confirm the explosion was caused by twenty, seven, hundred tons of ammonium nitrate, which was being stored in a warehouse at the Beirut port for six years without proper safety measures. Still what triggered the blast is not entirely clear while many are questioning whether Israel had any involvement in the matter Israeli sources denied the. The country had a connection and Defense Minister Benny guns and foreign. minister. Gobash Shkin nause offered humanitarian aid and medical assistance to the country using foreign mediators as a way to connect with them. Israeli. Leaders like President Reuven Rivlin and Knesset opposition leader Ear Lapierre aid offered their condolences to the victims and their families via twitter in Hebrew English and Arabic the idea of tweeted that this is a time to transcend conflict. Meanwhile private citizens on twitter many in the Arab world are typing quickly calling on Israel as the force behind the attack. Well we here at the Israel Daily News podcast reached out to US diplomats working with Lebanon for more information and color on the story. But we were told to review secretary of State Mike Pompeo statement which says the US is standing ready to help and that he looks forward to hearing more on the investigation from. Lebanese. Officials, we will continue to do our investigations on that story. Okay, I'm following up on a story I reported regarding Israel's budget blue and white leader Benny guns is attempting to pass a bill that would prevent Prime Minister Netanyahu from running for office. Again, if both sides failed to agree on the national budget, the reason would be Netanyahu's criminal trial. So they're trying to pin the criminal trial as a reason for Netanyahu not to be fit for prime minister being that he'll be in and out of the courtroom. Netanyahu is pushing to pass a one year budget, which would leave guns out with the two year. Budget would include him, Israel, came to a unity government during its last round of elections, which means that Netanyahu would be in first and guns would pick up the seat in the following year. But with only a one year budget, this could potentially push the unity out the window. Parliament, has until all twenty fourth to come up with a budget or else the nation will be plagued with a fourth round of elections in the last two years. Yesterday. I chose not to cover rumors and reports that emerged saying Israel would be going back into a full lockdown by the end of August, due to the corona virus. Well, I chose that because every day it seems that the rules are changing and I don't want to be a part of that confusion, but I'll give a couple of notes. The meeting was called with the goal of figuring out how to make matters better without a lockdown, but ended with talk of lockdown. The latest from there is that health minister. Yuli Edelstein is calling for an end to. In place that had closed shopping centers in stores over the weekends in an attempt to lessen congestion in those areas. However says, no evidence supports that the closure helps anyone and is ordering stores and shopping centers to reopen over the weekend. Edelstein. Says the government is working to find restrictions that will apply to certain activities in sectors is really hospitals are overwhelmed, Corona virus wards packed. Packed and though there was a pledge to add two thousand more medical staff to hospitals around the country. My own sources are telling me. They have not received any new staff, the chairman of the Israeli. Medical. Association. World. Fellowship is Eve Feldman. Says Staff will have to go on strike and declare a labor dispute if things do not improve on those front lines five, hundred sixty. Sixty one people have died in Israel with three hundred, forty, one people in serious condition. A note for me. I'm looking to highlight the lives of those who've died from the corona virus here in Israel, I want to write those stories in English. If you are listening and you know someone who's passed here in the Holy Land from the Corona Virus, please sends their names and. Their stories my way. Now before we continue I, have a request answer. This question. What time of day do you listen to the Israel Daily News podcast? Miami Marlins Outbreak Wreaks Havoc on M.L.B. Schedule

"Major league baseball season got underway last week. But so far it's been rough. More than half of the act of Miami Marlins players and several coaches from the team have tested positive for the Corona virus. As a result, Marlins games have been postponed through at least Sunday. But despite concerns over additional outbreaks, Major League Baseball officials have so far balked at the idea of canceling this truncated season altogether. Here's MLB commissioner Rob Manfred discussing the Marlin situation on ESPN on Monday. I don't put this in the nightmare category. I mean, obviously, we don't want any player. To get exposed. It's not a positive thing, but I don't see it as a nightmare. We built the protocols to allow us to continue to play. That's why we have the expanded rosters. That's why we have the pool off additional players. And we think we can keep people safe and continue to play. I've got J. McManus with me. Now she's the director of the Maris Center for Sports Communication and a sports columnist for the New York Daily News, Jane Great to have you with us. Oh, thanks for having me it. Rob Manfred, who We just heard MLB commissioner. There sounded pretty confident at least that he was going to be able to keep his player safe. But the Marlin situation sounds quite alarming. Tell us, you know how things have developed since the first cases were identified on the team. The proof is in front of him hasn't been able to keep his players safe. So the question is, what do they do now? The way that this developed was after a game in Sun on Sunday, where the Marlins were playing the Phillies before that game player had had tested positive for the Corona virus and the team of wanted to play that game anyway. And so I went ahead and played and of course, that Opens the door to exposure not just to the Marlins players, but also to the to the Phillies. And to anybody who's been working in that clubhouse. And so what you have, then is you know one test, turning into multiple tests in an outbreak and a team one of the 30 teams not being able to play going forward and quarantined in Philadelphia. An ancient shipwreck is being explored just off Israel's coast of Haifa. Final approval has been achieved the east. Med pipeline will transport gas from deep off the shores of Israel and Cyprus to Greece and then to Italy. The deal was signed in January between government officials from Greece and Cyprus, but still needed a signature from Israel. The final decision on how investments will be distributed will come in twenty two and the pipeline is supposed to be completed in twenty twenty-five. The hope is to help Europe diversify its energy resources. The Chief Rabbinate or the top rabbis of Israel are trying to help remove the red tape around the standard of cash, route or kosher for Israeli product imports. The idea is to encourage more competition and lower the prices of items on the shelves in his really supermarkets, but this has caused a controversy. The issue is that importers of products have to present echo certificate meaning that the items have been supervised from beginning to end in terms of its production and it's shipping. But because only a select group in Israel currently have the authority to do that. Monopolies on this market have formed allowing prices to go way up. The chief rabbi has opened up the possibility for other owners to hire private and external supervisors who will be able to monitor the journey of these food and drink items. The move was highly controversial when it was first presented a couple of years back, but has been accepted as a way to manage the cost of living in Israel and it seems that that is now moving ahead. "A Good Morning Booker tove. SONACARE this. Is Shannon fold here from Tel, Aviv with the Israel Daily News podcast. I'm here to give you the daily headlines, so you can get caught up quickly today. Is Tuesday July seven twenty twenty. This podcast has been recorded at nine twenty a m Israel time. My name is Shannon fold. You may know me from my nighttime writing as at New York one in New York City or my field reports and anchoring at I'll TV until Aviv and Israel. Now News in Jerusalem. I'm also the host of the sunset series a weekly Monday night. Happy Hour, talk series. Last night we hosted a debate with former Israeli deputy national security adviser Chuck. And Ellie Verizon the current Director of Foreign Affairs for Israel's Likud party, currently sitting in parliament, the debate over Israeli annexation went zoom due to a sharp stake in corona virus cases. Our call had between sixty five and seventy people on it last night and the nice part. Is that people from all around? The world were able to join since it was online. Usually do our events in person on the boardwalk in Tel Aviv I up. I'll give you three stories news and politics, and then we'll get to money and culture. The big news of today seems to be that Prime Minister. Netanyahu now has the green light to make emergency decisions, regarding Covid, nineteen or corona virus with the backing of what the Jerusalem Post is calling a quick cabinet vote following the Knesset's approval of the bill which went through three readings. It happened just this morning. The bill allows the cabinet to make decisions that go into effect immediately in order to cut through some of the red tape that could slow up legal processes involving the corona virus, the coronavirus cabinet that we have here in Israel approved the measure, but critics say it is undemocratic and would allow the prime minister to make decisions on his own opposition leader yet year Lapierre, said with the new bill in effect there is no longer a need for the Knesset making only one branch of government and killing the legislative branch, which is meant to be the balancing force. Coronavirus cases in Israel continued to climb. There are eight people seriously ill in Israel and three hundred thirty four deaths meaning three more than what I reported yesterday. Video is now going viral in Israel showing to police officers stopping a young Orthodox girl of thirteen years old for not wearing her mask while pushing a baby stroller in the streets of Jerusalem. She says they tried to find her. Five hundred chuckles. Officers say they just gave her a warning either way. She walked away crying and her parents are not happy. Got Him. That's what I like to say. When Israel shuts down potential terror and violence, another story in Israel's headlines Today, the Massad, apparently foiled Iranian plans to attack Israeli diplomatic missions around Europe. The reports about this are keeping the names of the countries where terrorism was meant to play out a secret, but reports say the countries in question were cooperative with the Israeli intelligence agency in order to shut those plans down reports from. From The New York Times in the last days have suggested that Israel. Is The forest behind the bomb that was dropped on an Iranian centrifuge facility or a facility that houses devices that separate gases and liquids in this case for the creation of nuclear weapons. Iran has denied it has sought to create nuclear weapons for decades. Iranian top officials have also been quoted saying. They want Israel to disappear from the map. A sentence has been handed down to a Palestinian man from the West Bank who has now been officially convicted for mowing down and is really man from Hebron with his car and killing him in thousand fifteen. Apparently, Avraham has no fifty four at the time and living in Kiryat Arba just outside of have run, had a rock thrown at his car, got out and steps in front of the hood of the vehicle, when Saban Tiete puts his foot on the gas and ran him over t said Haas no approached his truck with a club in his hand, and that he was afraid. Has No was hit, and then dragged under the truck, td turned himself into Palestinian authorities calling it an accident and was later tried by is really military court. He has been ordered to pay one point eight million shekels in restitution or five hundred twenty five thousand dollars, and will spend the rest of his life in prison. That story from arts. Okay moving now to money and culture to beats that I love. I want to revisit. A story brought to you yesterday about allow. I reported that the company called all of their pilots to return back to Israel with their aircraft in tow that includes cargo planes due to financial hardship as demand for flights have been nearly reduced to nothing l. all has accepted a government bailout of two hundred fifty million dollars in loans with a guarantee that seventy five percents of the loans will. Will, be, government backed in case. The company needs to default. The deal also includes a stock offering on the Tel. Aviv Stock Exchange meant to raise one hundred fifty million dollars. The government is expected to buy any of those unsold stocks which could put the government as the majority stakeholder for L.. All this airline has been a private company since two thousand four. It is currently in two billion dollars worth of debt. Churning out to culture, I find culture fascinating and I recommend. Everyone should live in as many different cities as they can manage, so they can really learn what culture means well Greece and Cyprus are two places. Israelis go to taste of different culture and these two countries rely heavily on Israel for their economic health in terms of tourism, though at the beginning of the summer it was. was expected. Israel would open their skies to allow travel to and from Greece and Cyprus. That goal is now a fantasy just two weeks ago, the target date to open up these nearby hotspots was August I, but as cases shore in Israel, the hotels and tourist industry in Greece and Cyprus, which were the first places on Israel's list for opening. We'll have to target their local populations. Well that's it for today's news I. Hope You liked the money and culture report at the end. Today is Tuesday, July seventh,.

"Good Morning Booker tove boy DS Sabiha Hair. This is Shana fold here from Tel Aviv with the Israel Daily News podcast I'm here to give you the daily headlines, so you can get caught up quickly. Today is Tuesday June thirtieth twenty twenty and this podcast has been recorded at eight zero six. A M Israel time. Now we have historic annexation related news this morning. What many supporters of the annexation said would happen happened? The Palestinians are coming to the table yesterday. The Palestinian Authority sent a note to the UN International Peacemaking Corps Tet saying they are ready to pick up peace talks where they left off in two thousand fourteen, and maybe agreeing to some minor land concessions huge news, a little history lesson the court. Is made up of the e U Russia, the U. N. and the US, the four entities came together in two thousand and to facilitate Middle East, peace processes the four page letter from Palestinian Authority. Prime Minister Mohammad Sta said no one has as much interest in the Palestinians in reaching a peace agreement. No one has as much to lose as the Palestinians in the absence of peace. Here's the big one. He also said we are ready to have our state, a limited number of weapons and e powerful force to hold law and order. Adding in that it would allow for an international regulatory force to oversee that things run as planned. The letter also said that might be in the market for border changes from the nineteen sixty seven lines that were drawn up around the West Bank. The Palestinian PM had said on June ninth he was drafting something up in response to the US peace plan, but did not specify that it would be an appeal to Israel that report from the Times of Israel. Now to the illness that no one and everyone wants to hear about the corona virus is climbing in Israel. And because of it, there are new restrictions. Thanks the Jerusalem Post for getting this out very early morning on Monday. There were nearly five hundred eighty eight new patients in Israel that was yesterday. Weddings will have a maximum number of two hundred fifty guests permitted with all other events to be capped at fifty and some cultural events at two fifty. The new ruling is effective immediately. That's I after. After July tenth weddings and Bar Mitzvahs, we'll have a cap of one hundred some other guidelines including just twenty eight children to a group at a summer, Camp University exams to be taken online and thirty percent of the public sector to work from home. More sick people are dying. An elderly people are catching the illness. Three hundred nineteen people have died and twenty four are currently using ventilators to breed now I, say twenty four people are using ventilators breathe instead of saying are on ventilators because I. I really want to draw that image for you what it would mean for you to need a ventilator to breathe a very interesting story from the Times of Israel. Many countries are dealing with covid nineteen outbreaks in their prison system, but it appears not Israel. Since the corona virus came to Israel prisons have been locked down keeping visitors out and away from their loved ones, while the tactic has proven successful prisoners have not seen the outside world since March. Seventeenth inmates have not seen their families their lawyers. Lawyers or been able to take permitted leaves of absence from their jail cells guards who usually come to work for twenty four hours followed by two days off are now working one week on one week off with high monitoring to make sure that do not come back to prisons with the virus. The wife of one inmate told The Times of Israel that previously she and her children only got to see their dad once every two weeks for twenty eight minutes now. It's been more than three months. She says she does not think this is justified. This is a very tough story. Send me a message to let me know what you think. Moving on Israel's Philharmonic Orchestra has taken a major hit. Since Corona virus began, and so a live virtual gala was held for thirteen thousand registered guests, world wide, and guess what it was entirely interrupted by a suspected cyberattack. The? Event was held Sunday afternoon as a way to raise funds that were lost during the pandemic, the website used to show the performance crashed as well as the website of the gals partner. The Orchestra shared a taped version of the show on Youtube after the fact that report from the Jerusalem. Post I am going to check out that taping of the Philharmonic today after I do the show I can't wait to hear it. For our last story of the day, many women have informal qualifications in Jewish law, but are not recognized by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel well, that has now changed for the first time. The seat will recognize women, Torah scholars which will get them. An equal chance at applying for seat paid employment. There are a slew of jobs in the religious sector funded by government agencies that previously women could not apply for, and the court saw this as a discrimination issue. The Chief Rabbinate says this move is not in its role description and has asked for Israel's education department to deal with it. Call a code. All the respect goes to the women who drafted this petition and got it up to the highest courts. Well that is it for today's news? Today is Tuesday. June thirtieth we've got a low of twenty two and a high of twenty eight degrees Celsius. In Tel Aviv, that seventy two degrees Fahrenheit for the low, going up to eighty two in the central city of Tel Aviv, you will never believe this, but the weather forecast is predicting some rain today highly unusual for this time of year, but it makes sense due to all of the history that is being made into these report and thanks so much for getting caught up. Up with me, don't forget Thursday I'll have a special report. Subscribe to my podcast on spotify or apple music, or wherever you're hearing it from I am everywhere I'm looking to speak with some hardcastle listeners to try to understand how I can make my podcast better.
