Does the Left Actually Support Charity?

"What do you make of the Salvation army's decision to go this route? I think it's pretty simple calculus from what I've seen. Leftists will not participate with organizations that don't tow the line and spread their narrative. They just won't give them their money. They won't buy products from them. All right, well, let's wait a minute. Hold that thought. Hold that thought. Leftists don't support charities. Have you ever seen the financial giving of prominent Democrats started with Biden on down? They don't give to charity. Brent? That's a fair point. Fair point. But, you know, the Salvation army is betting that they're going to be able to appeal to those people. No way. Spreading their dad. No way, no way. I'm sorry. I love you, no way. It's gotta be something else. There's something else going on

Get to Know Os Guinness, Author of 'The Magna Carta of Humanity'

"Who is us? Where has he where was he born and what has he been doing most of his life? Well, I'm the great great, great grandson of Arthur Guinness, the original brewer, and very proud of our family heritage and the integrity and generosity of the firm down the centuries. My own branch of the family, my grandfather, was one of the first western doctors in China, actually he survived the box arrives, and he went into the Forbidden City and treated the Empress dowager and the last emperor in the early part of the 20th century. My parents were born in China, and importantly for this book, I was a 7 year old in the Chinese revolution. So I remember the day. You have memory? You have memories? Absolutely. And it's important to this book because I remember the day when my dad said to me son, we're in trouble. Chiang Kai-shek has abandoned the city. We were in the capital, and the Red Army's coming in. And I remember the reign of terror began, and I was there for two years under that, and my parents were kept another two years on the house arrest. But the important was many years later I was at Oxford, and the graduate student, and had general one night with Isaiah Berlin. In other great places of freedom, Jewish. And we discovered he'd been a 7 year old in the Russian Revolution. And I was a 7 year old in the Chinese revolution the two big communist ones of the last century, so he compared notes thank God the English speaking people who stood up against totalitarianism, but in the mid 70s, when I was with him, it would have been unthinkable. That America would be tempted by anything like a radical socialism, let alone a cultural Marxism. And yet, that's where we are

"The NASA minute. With Kevin mason as I get older, I find out that I have more habits of my father than ever before. I'm so much like my father in a lot of ways. But I'm starting to do things that he does, and they're not bad things, and this isn't bad. It's just a weird little habits that you want to read, get them from. I wonder if he got them from grandfather and they're just heredity, or it's just how we're wired together. Other day driving down the road in the left hand lane, enough traction between me and the 18 Wheeler in front of me, but there were some little Kia behind me who just wanted to get around us so she bolted around the right side and pulls back in and basically the truck hits its brakes and she has to stop. So I just kind of waved at her and smiled. I thought, oh my gosh, my dad does that. I'll find myself chatting up people like cashiers at the grocery store or waitresses and things like that. Just talking about stupid stuff, like my father does. I don't know why I do that. My wife will look at me sometimes, just shake her head and go, okay, bob, whatever, and that kind of chuckle. I don't mean to be doing it. I don't realize I'm doing it, but I find out the older I get, the more I'm like my father every day. Now I guess you could say that's a good thing. "Myself So Bill you know you do the no spin news You've been a no spin guy for a long time that's your trademark right there The rittenhouse case was obviously not no spin or no It was full of spin news It was all spin all the time There were a number of components of the rittenhouse case bill that anyone with an IQ in the triple digits could have figured out where nonsense from the start He was not in fact carrying a short barreled rifle that was illegal that's false He did not cross state lines with a rifle that is false And I don't know why that would be a bad thing anyway His mom did not drop them off in Kenosha today the riots He did have a connection to Kenosha his dad lived there He did not shoot anyone who was black all of the people in the case were white Just the litany of misinformation here I think this promoted you know I sense with the prosecutor they had a case here when they didn't show him there's real world implications to full of spin news The prosecution always knew from the beginning it would lose It was virtue signaling for the state of Wisconsin to bring the case Once a video tape showed that the people rittenhouse shot were threats to him physically the case was over If you read Wisconsin lawn I'm sure you have It's stand your ground state So somebody attacks you and it doesn't matter whether you put yourself in a bad position which rit now certainly did No doubt about that It doesn't matter Sometimes it comes after you and puts a gun in your face that you can shoot them And that's what happened So everybody knew from the very beginning and the legal circles in Wisconsin that this was a loser Yet they spent millions of taxpayers dollars Virtue signaling to the population that rittenhouse was a white supremacist And then the media of course picked that up The kid at 17 was some kind of Heinrich Himmler It was absurd because if you were that would have been all over social media and everybody would have known it But it was not This was an immature boy who did any irresponsible thing by getting into a dangerous situation and I'm glad that no further damage was done to

This Is What Makes Charlie Hopeful for the Future

"You asked the question, are you hopeful? I am hopeful about a couple things. So let me tell you what I'm hopeful about. And it's less about politics and it's more just about attitude and it's also about durability. And so after Biden was implemented, not elected. He was an implemented president, by the way. After Biden was implemented, we very well could have engaged in self pity. And self pity as Dennis has taught so many people throughout the years is a really bad starting point for anything constructive. We could have we could have set up, they had $420 million from Zuckerberg. You know, they spent all this money, mail in ballots, the country's over. But instead, you know, the regime called all of us domestic terrorists. They still do. They thought they could pummel us in the submission. They thought in March of this last year, we'd say, okay enough. Let's make Liz Liz Cheney the head of the Republican Party. Or we'll bring mit Romney back. And the fact you're laughing, greens me great joy. It does because we know that's a ridiculous idea. What happened was the opposite. What happened was because of how parents were exposed to their kids education during the Fauci virus. Parents across the country, all of a sudden, in a way they never expected the other side never expected got intimately involved in education policy and the education fights. And through March and April and May, all of a sudden we saw the most robust authentic and quite honestly sometimes messy political movement that still has traction and growing today, as moms and dads showing up to school board meetings across the country. And so you ask, am I hopeful? Our homeschooling population has doubled in the last 18 months. That gives me hope, doubled. We have twice as many people in homeschool. We did our campus tour at turning point USA. We can't find rooms big enough to be able to fit all the students that want to hear us talk on campus. And so I'll be honest that I think that politicians are largely a waste of time. I do. I think that we need to give them very short, easy to understand to instructions that they have to follow. And if they don't, we have to replace them and mostly we have to keep the pressure on Republicans, but our energy everybody has to be less about voting and kind of the palace intrigue and this. Are you showing up to school board meetings? Are you showing up to city council meetings? Are you homeschooling your kids? Are you showing up locally? Because honestly, for the last 20 years or at least the last 5 years like Charlie, I bought the pillow, I watched Fox News. I did everything I was supposed to do. And it's like, that's not enough. You have to, you have to do more. So I'm hopeful 'cause the people are tougher, stronger and more committed than ever before and eventually the political leaders will

"It's obviously this is a kamikaze party because they feel they're going to lose in 2022 I don't talk that way because I want our people to come out and fight like we're behind I don't take anything for granted what these people do That's the right answer Yeah And so they're like a kamikaze party They think okay we've got two years We control the government Let's get everything in We have It's like ObamaCare So we'll lose a cycle will lose two cycles but we're setting in place for enshrining forever our agenda Here's my concern This is supposed to be a republic So the Democrats it's 50 50 in the Senate And by the quirk of the constitution they have the vice presidents who can break a tie They want today effectively by three or four votes And so they can fundamentally alter our economic system our immigration system our governing system Fundamentally altered Here's my question to you That's not what a republic is supposed to be about in one election We can't win every election Congressman So every election where they're in a majority they're going to be able to turn this country inside out That's what they're up to When we win it back we're going to have to turn it right side up We're going to have to put things back in the property And yes we will We have to We have to And look I think it's growing I mean I think mom's a dad showing up at school board meetings What happened in Virginia What happened in the rittenhouse case where again if that wasn't self defense I don't know what is Where the due process the system our court system it worked and freedom mattered and that stand up for the second all those things So I think it's going to come back in the right direction and Republicans Now again I'm like you I don't take anything for granted and we got to work hard to make sure we win next year but when we do I think we're going to stop everything that we can and then we're going to reelect Donald Trump as president in 24 and get a chance to put the country back on

Rep. Jim Jordan: Conservatives are Winning

"Democrats object to more states in 2017 than Republicans did last week, but somehow we're wrong. Democrats can raise bail for riders and looters this summer, but somehow when Republicans condemn all the violence, the violence this summer, the violence last week, somehow we're wrong. It's very easy to lose faith my Friends to give up and say that's it. The crazies, the radicals are taking over. But then you hear speeches like that and you are reinvigorated and you realize there are some good men and women left in the swamp who are fighting and fighting to save our republic. That, of course, was congressman Jim Jordan, the ranking member of the judiciary committee representing the beautiful fourth district of Ohio and we are deeply honored to have him with us for one of our one on one discussions here on America first. Congressman Jordan welcome. Good to be with you, Sebastian, and thank you for having me, and thank you more importantly for all you do to protect freedom in our constitutional system and this great country. So it's good to be with you. Well, thank you for those kind words. We have so much discuss. You've got a new book coming out next week. We'll talk about that as well. But I'm going to do things a little bit differently on this one on one. I usually wait until deeper into the conversation to ask this question. But because of your role as an inspiration to those who, you know, fighting at school board levels of fighting across the country. Let me ask you this question right now. Are we finally beginning to win are the results in the Commonwealth of Virginia, maybe a taste of what is to come congressman? I think you're exactly right. I think it's going to build. I said this when Merrick Garland, Merrick Garland came in front of the judiciary committee a few weeks ago, I said, what you did when you guys spied on parents set up this snitch line on parents. I think that's the catalyst for a great reawakening for freedom in this country for the judeo Christian ethics and values and principles in this country that make us the greatest, the greatest nation ever. So I do feel confident and then we saw those results in Virginia sparked by moms and dads, having the courage. And one thing we all know courage is contagious. One mom stands up and defends her son or daughter and says, I don't want this racist hate America curriculum taught to my kids. One mom does it, then it's two moms and it's dads and it's and pretty soon you have a Republican governor in Virginia. And that is going to spread across this country. So yeah, we're Americans. We got to be optimistic and I am very optimistic. Yeah,

"My friend doctor Kim Clinton, the book is take it back, reclaiming biblical manhood for the sake of marriage family and culture. You have stories in this book about people like George foreman, I love George Foreman. I want to get him on this program. I just want to talk to that guy. Tell me about him, but maybe before you tell me about him. Tell me what you just told me in the break about what about men who have blown it, who have messed up. Yeah, Eric, one of the things that I see a lot and have conversations with men around is Tim. I made some mistakes in my life. I haven't been a good dad. I've not handled my marriage all that well. I struggle in my relationship with God. And I don't know what it means. I can do things. I want to and they're given a little bit more what we would call as religion versus a relationship with God because Tim if God really knows me the way you say he knows me, there's no way you could love me. Because they look inside and they see the brokenness. You know that? And Eric, here's the central message of the book. And that is, is that God is constantly reaching toward us. He desires us. His heart is there. And he wants us and he beckons us to come to him. Just like we want our kids to come to us when they're broken. When they're struggling, when they're lost, when they're confused, I want my kids running to my lap. And God can handle our emotion. He can handle the brokenness of our lives. He just simply wants us to come

Merrick Garland's MEMOGATE Explodes

"The national school board association letter otherwise known as the letter that broke the entire educational world led to the memo. The memo from Merrick Garland that inexplicably called for the defense apparatus to use potentially the Patriot Act and Department of Homeland Security to go after moms and dads. This is a legitimate scandal that is heating up, which we will now call memo gate. Cut 58 Merrick Garland in front of Congress, said that he could not imagine any circumstance that parents complaining about their school boards would be labeled as domestic terrorism, cut 58. Like you, I can't imagine any circumstance in which the Patriot Act would be used in the circumstances of parents complaining about their children, nor can I imagine a circumstance where they would be labeled as domestic terrorism. New whistleblower last night shows that Merrick Garland lied under oath in front of Congress as all of these deep state unelected operatives do, no one voted for Merrick Garland, Merrick Garland is an unelected Plato guardian type that wants to usher in a globalist internationalist borderless society, while he does not actually have to live under those same rules and measures. Whistleblower breaking last night. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the FBI, created a threat tag to track allegedly menacing statements against school boards and their members after attorney general Merrick Garland directed the bureau to take the lead on hyperlocal disputes. A whistleblower has revealed. The email dated October 20th about a month ago, released Tuesday by House judiciary Republicans, who said this was proof that the federal counter terrorism was being deployed against parents at school board meetings.

NSBA Coordinated With White House, DOJ Before Sending Notorious 'Domestic Terrorists' Letter

"The national school board association of America coordinated with The White House Department of Justice before sending notorious domestic terrorists letter. Fox News reports. Newly released internal emails. People that the national school board association coordinated with The White House and Department of Justice before sending Biden the notorious letter that compared concerned parrots to domestic terrorists. Viola Garcia, the national school board association president, whom the Department of Education later named to a federal board sent a memo to the national school board association of America on October 11th. Providing a timeline of the national school board association's interaction with The White House ahead of the letter to Biden, which the national school board association sent on September 29th. Concern over the current climate for school board members is also a top priority as disruptions at school board meetings grow and members face growing threats, Garcia wrote, the national school board association of America is actively engaged with The White House from justice and Department of Homeland Security and Department of Education Surgeon General and other federal agencies on pandemic issues. But here's the most important thing, is that on September 14th, 2021, the nspo a organization of state directors, they were informed that they had a meeting with The White House. And subsequently on September 17th, the interim executive director emailed noticed to the state association executive directors that indicated a letter requesting federal assistance would be sent. In response to the letter sent by NSPA, on October 4th, 2021, the attorney general announced in a memorandum, widely shared throughout the U.S. Department of Justice that he was ordering all U.S. attorney officers and local FBI offices to reach out to local and state law enforcement officials to coordinate efforts on this problem within 30 days of the memorandum. This also contradicts what Merrick Garland said to Congress on October 27th. When dick Durbin asked Garland if he had second thoughts following the NSPA's apology for the letter, and Garland said quote, the letter that was subsequently sent does not change the association's concern of violence or threats of violence. It alters some of the language in the letter that we did not rely on is not contained in my own memorandum. So basically, here's what happened. Is you had collusion going on with the national school board association of America with The White House privately. They concocted this letter and then they sent the letter publicly that The White House had then the mandate to go to the Department of Justice to go say we now want to go spy on moms and dads, treat them like domestic terrorists and use the Patriot Act against people we don't

It's Been a Great Week for Republicans AKA the 'Party of Parents'

"Start. This last week was phenomenal for Republicans. So last week was terrific in New Jersey and Virginia. Republicans won the Virginia House of delegates everybody. Statewide the Virginia, lieutenant governors raised Virginia governors race with junkin, the Seattle city attorneys race. They elected a Republican, the New Jersey state Senate president was defeated by a truck driver Edward durr even though. Steve Sweeney will not concede. He says, oh, there's thousands of ballots we're still defined. He's pulling his best Tony Soprano. Frank Underwood impression possible trying to declare a state of emergency to go find ballots. Republicans had momentum. We won everything you could possibly have asked for and then some. Republicans were riding high and they weren't riding high because voters showed up in record numbers and said, hey, you know, mister junkin, you know what we need? We need electric charging vehicle stations. You know what we need mister junkin? We need to go spend $1.2 trillion that we don't have. No. Mom's and dad showed up and they voted for Republicans in the first time in a decade because they sought was happening in their schools. Rural parts of Virginia showed up in record numbers at a higher percentage clip than they even did support Donald Trump and Republicans started to build this coalition. That was pro family and also anti leftist. That ran up against the power structures of the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the abuse within. Higher education, the public sector teacher unions Republicans finally seemed to have its groove for a couple days for a couple days we started to see headlines from CNN and Washington Post Democrats on defense, time to do a detox. And then you saw this Democrat Civil War begin of one part of the Democrat party start to say that we need to be we need to recommit ourselves to the party of parents and you had pramila jayapal worried that the Republican parties becoming the party of parents, which I'm going to say on this show until someone starts to listen to me, the party appearance is phenomenal

The GOP Is the Party of Parents

"Question. Hey, Charlie, you just mentioned that the Republican Party should be the essentially become the parent party or the parents party. I want you to dive a little deeper into what that might look like from a policy perspective. What should a Republican parent party candidate run on? Well, first, let's start with the very obvious education. Recently, there has been an awakening when it comes to education in America. Parents are starting to wake up to the very same things that we have been warning about for 9 years that the education cartel in America is teaching young people to hate themselves. Hate their peers and hate their country. One of the great awakenings of this last year is how parents are starting to step up and challenge school boards, administrators, and curriculum, selection of what's happening in our schools. Here's one example, cut 100. When I say that America that Republican Party in the conservative movement needs to become the parents party it's to defend moms and dads like this one and cut 100, there's a Texas mom that erupts at the entire school board over a very graphic passage in a school book curriculum. This is going to be it's going to be so hard for some people to hear this. You're going to probably get mad at me for playing it. But this is what 6th graders are being exposed to. When you send them to public school. If you are a parent or grandparent listening right now? I'd say you're 9 year olds are probably being exposed to this if they're in public school. What is the parent party look like? It's removing this type of garbage from schools and representing moms like this one. Play cut 100. Take her out back, we boys figured then hand on the put it in her coin box, put it in her cornhole, grab a hold of that braid, rub that calico. You can find that on page 39 of the book called out of darkness, which you can find at Hudson Ben middle school and be cave middle school. All right, not gonna lie, I had to Google cornhole because I have the game in the back of my yard, but according to Wikipedia, cornhole is a sexual slang vulgarism for anus. I do not want my children to learn about anal sex and middle school. You are supposed to be educating our children. That's what the parent party looks like. People like

"<Speech_Male> <Advertisement> We <Speech_Male> not just tell our kids <Speech_Music_Male> about the narrow road <Speech_Music_Male> that we read about <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> what we have feet. <Speech_Music_Male> That's action touched <Music> him. <Music> <Music> <Music> <Speech_Music_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> He just <Speech_Male> wanted to in this with a <Speech_Male> little update. I realized <Speech_Male> when i went back to edit <Speech_Male> this podcast and never actually <Speech_Male> told you what happened. <Speech_Male> I told you that. I want <Speech_Male> to be a man who steps into <Speech_Male> heart things. But <Speech_Male> i didn't tell you if i actually <Speech_Male> did or <Speech_Male> not and so i <Speech_Male> just wanted you to know that <Speech_Male> <hes> we did end up <Speech_Male> meeting <Speech_Male> And here's the truth man. <Speech_Male> We sat down <Speech_Male> together at <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> a restaurant and we <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> had a <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> cheeseburger and <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> we drank a beer and <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> we talk to each <Speech_Music_Male> other and there were tears <Speech_Music_Male> that were cried <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Music_Male> the truth is <Speech_Music_Male> dude that the <Speech_Music_Male> kingdom of heaven <Speech_Male> invaded <Speech_Male> earth. That <Speech_Male> day in the <Speech_Male> restaurant <Speech_Music_Male> Because that's <Speech_Music_Male> what spiritual leaders <Speech_Music_Male> do. We run <Speech_Music_Male> towards things that <Speech_Music_Male> scare us. <Speech_Music_Male> And i'm grateful for this <Speech_Music_Male> man who <Speech_Music_Male> instead of running <Speech_Music_Male> away from things that were <Speech_Music_Male> hard and scary. He ran <Speech_Music_Male> toward them <Speech_Music_Male> And i'm grateful <Speech_Music_Male> that the spirit of god prompted <Speech_Male> me to have the courage <Speech_Male> to sit down with <Speech_Music_Male> him and to meet with <Speech_Music_Male> him and dude. <Speech_Music_Male> That's just what <Speech_Music_Male> kingdom people <Speech_Male> do. We <Speech_Male> run towards things <Speech_Male> that are hard <Speech_Music_Male> because we know jesus <Speech_Music_Male> is our hope. <Speech_Music_Male> We don't have to <Speech_Music_Male> hope and other people <Speech_Music_Male> who don't have to put hope <Speech_Male> all kinds of other circumstances <Speech_Music_Male> we put <Speech_Music_Male> our hope in christ <Speech_Music_Male> in his gospel <Speech_Music_Male> is the thing that <Speech_Male> unites us <Speech_Male> and and so we <Speech_Male> just got a glimpse of restoration. <Speech_Male> We get it. <Speech_Music_Male> We got a glimpse of how <Speech_Music_Male> things were meant <Speech_Male> to be <Speech_Male> brothers united <Speech_Music_Male> in christ over <Speech_Music_Male> something bigger <Speech_Music_Male> than themselves and <Speech_Music_Male> so. I hope that's encouraging <Speech_Male> to you man on <Speech_Music_Male> your dad <SpeakerChange> journey. I <Speech_Music_Male> guess i'll see you next.

"With i do. I wanted nothing to do with the church. Like i said. But i didn't want anything to do with with this particular church Lower casey this this particular place and There have been all kinds of events that have been happening this year. Some restoration some some hard things. Some things have come to light this year that had been buried for a long time That's all been happening in my personal life behind the scenes. I haven't mentioned any of this on the podcast. I tell you all of this because this week somebody from that particular church reached out and asked if they could meet with me. They actually asked months ago. And i said no Because i didn't want to be part of it. I still didn't feel like that part of my heart was completely healed. And i wasn't ready to do that. And they reached out again and they said Not really. i'm not gonna let this go. I really wanna meet face to face and Here's the thing this this is. Why i'm telling you all of this as a man as a dad as as a disciple. Of jesus i am trying my best to figure out what it looks like to follow jesus specialty when god calls us to hard things. Do to be honest man. It's easy to sit in front of this computer and to record a podcast episode. It's easy to write a. It's not really. It's actually really hard to do that. But you know what i mean. It's like it's way easier to do these things to talk about. The things of god to actually live out the things of god and i don't wanna be a hypocrite. I feel all the time. Like i'm how in the world do i have any kind of right to tell you guys anything about god when i personally feel like. I'm struggling all the time with my own journey and following jesus and i just want to every time. I'm challenged with the situation to step outside of my comfort zone. I want to run toward it. Because that's what jesus followers do. We moved hoard heart things. We don't run away from hard things. This is what jesus meant when he said. Take the narrow road. Many will choose the wide path. But it's hard to follow me and very few people will choose to do it. This is why the road is narrow for all kinds of reasons. It's hard to follow. Jesus but this particular week was one of those moments rioted. Decide if i want to actually be a follower of jesus it will mean me doing what jesus told me to do and it will probably be really really hard Before we move on. Before i get kind of the main point that i want to make i want you to stop for a second. I wanted to ask yourself. What hard thing are you call to step into right now. Is there something hard that you're running from as something hard that you're avoiding. Is there something you feel like. You need to step into but just makes you a little bit uncomfortable because the truth is dude a good leader as not somebody who is never scared. A good leader is someone who runs towards the things that they're scared of. The reality is when it comes to spiritual leadership. It's really really hard to train your children and qualities that you don't currently possess If you think back with me to deuteronomy six you've probably heard this passage human. Maybe you're not familiar with the scriptures. That's okay But there's this passage that's used oftentimes when we're talking about you. You'll hear this a lot in parenting conferences. Or when we're talking about parenting. I even wrote about this In my book and when we're talking about parenting but listen to this verse. In deuteronomy verse. One says this these are the commands decrees and laws the lord. Your god directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the jordan to possess so that you your children and their children after them may fear the lord. Your god as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that i give you and so that you may enjoy long life here israel and be careful to obey so that it make a well with you and that you may increase greatly and land flowing with milk and honey just as the lord the god of your ancestors promised you and then listen to what he says is very famous verse. Hero israel the lord our god the lord is one love the lord your god with all of your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your strength these commands. I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road you lie down and when you get up tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses in on your gates. God is saying the writer of genesis. Here of deuteronomy is saying listen. Love god with everything you've got and then teach your kids about god every opportunity you get but listen. Did you catch that first part before. God wants you to teach your children about him and talk to them about him. He first commands that. You love the lord with all your heart all your soul in all your strength bro. Listen this may be the most important parenting advice you hear all week the prerequisite for teaching your kids about jesus is first that you are in love with god yourself. It's really hard to pass on something that you don't have and so if i want to be a dad who teaches my children how to forgive than i must be a dad who's willing to forgive and then that is way easier to say on a podcast and an empty room with this microphone into computer in front of me. It's way easier to tell you when you don't know about my personal life and i can just kind of go do whatever i want and just tell you that you should forgive. It's way harder to sit across the table from somebody somebody that has potentially hurt you deeply to look them in the eye and to genuinely forgive them. That's way harder man. It's hard to pass on something that you don't have in so this week as i thought about manual. Want to be the kind of man that god is calling me to be. Do i want to be kinda dad. That i want my kids to be one day then. I personally have to step in to some hard things. It's hard to tell your kids to love. Jesus when you don't really love. Jesus it's hard to tell your kids to obey when you aren't obeying your heavenly father. It's hard to tell your kids to forgive when your holding onto hate. It's really hard to tell your kids to remain pure when you're looking at porn. It's hard to tell your kids to be patient when you're constantly losing your temper. If all of these sound hard to you maybe even impossible. I don't worry. I have good news for. You're in good company. Jesus wants taught a lesson to his friends about how hard it is for. Rich man to enter the kingdom of god. His disciples heard that teaching and they thought the same thing. You're probably thinking right now. What in the world like who can do it. Then who's going to be able to go to heaven if it's hard for this guy who's going to be able to do this. And jesus looked back and he said this with people it is impossible but now with god for all things are possible with god. Here's the truth man. You can be the man. God is calling you to be for your kids but it's not gonna be because you tried harder. It will be by the grace of god and his spirit working in and through you. I want you to stop. Whatever you're doing right now. Man i want you to pray just pause for a second and just pray this with me. God i want to be the man that you're calling me to be but i cannot do it by myself. I can't do it in my own strength. i need you god to be. the dad. threw me that you would be to my kids. I need you god to be the husband to my wife that you would be to her through me. God do things in and threw me that are bigger than myself. Give me the courage to step into hard things. I desperately need you got him. May we be men who don't just teach our children about forgiveness. Would we be men who have a reputation of radical grace. May we be men who don't just teach our kids not to lie. Would we be perpetual truth tellers. We not just be men who tell our kids not to look at inappropriate things. Would we be men of integrity. We be men who are beat up and running out and wore out for the sake of the gospel at the end of our lives but men who pass on a baton that we actually carried ourselves. Not just one that we read about. If you want your kids to be in love with jesus you. I must be in love with. Jesus you want your kids to forgive than you must forgive you. Want your kids to be pure than you have to chase after purity when your kids to be truth tellers than be a truth teller. This is what spiritual leadership looks like. It means that we actually live out what we believe. And that kind of experience builds deep character within us that we share wisdom. Not from a book but from something that we've lived out..

"Hey guys welcome back to the dads hired. Podcast it's good to be with you. we're going to dive right in here man. I don't have any ads for today. I don't have any introductions on nothing really to talk to you about other the family leadership program which i'm always stoked about if you wanna come join us over there That'd be great. You can do that by going to data dot com slash lead with love to have you but we'll just dive right in dude To be totally honest with you man. It was kind of an emotional week for me A little bit of a heavy week. If you've been listening to the data podcast for a while. You've probably heard me allude to the fact that dad tired really started out of a really painful season in my own journey Just personally and i have purposely. Never really shared details about that. Didn't really feel like they were relevant or necessary especially for you. I know that you turn on this podcast to try to figure out what it looks like for you to be the best husband and father and disciple that you can be and so you're not always interested in my own personal story which i i totally get man I totally understand that But i want to share a little bit about why this week was heavy for me And then kinda give context How dat tired started. And i'm only doing that really to context of kind of the bigger thing that got us late on my heart for you this week So if you bear with me as i share some details from the past. I think it'll be helpful for you Just context wise as we jump into what it looks like for you as a dad to leave your family well Six years ago. I had been a part of a church For a long time. I i been church world ministry for thirteen years and then i was asked by a good friend of mine He said hey. Jared if you ever want to come be part of some church planting i'd love for you to come join me In in planting some churches. Which i have a very entrepreneurial spirit i think that's how god wired me and so i was excited about the opportunity. We had been friends for years and but we had never worked together and so i was excited to move on It it was hard for me to leave the church that i was currently acts as a wonderful church. Many of the top. If you've heard me say hey my mentor or mental once told me or any tummy the word mentor on the likely talking about some of the guys from that previous church Who were just deeply impactful in my personal journey with jesus man. They were just so so intentional. About pouring into me as a young pastor and so i left that church. Which was hard. But i was excited about the new things that we're gonna come In in the future with church planting. And so i step out of my role at the previous church and moved into this new role with my friend to plant churches. I was there less than a year and a new pretty quickly that this was not a good fit for me personally and how and it wasn't going to be a good fit for me and Pretty quickly me. And this person and i'm purposely being confidential here for the sake of it. It's the details. Really aren't the point of what i'm trying to get at here But i but i m trying to paint a good picture for me and this person We started to butt heads and We started to see things differently. And it came down to A final conversation where. I was blindsided by things that this person said and I've heard people talk about this in in the past been in the church world for thirteen years at heard a lot of people say that they had been hurt by the church and That that maybe somebody in leadership at hurt them and my experience in the church was good. And and i had met many wonderful leaders servants humble men and women who were giving their lives for the sake of the gospel and the glory of jesus and that was my experience and so when i heard people say that they'd been hurt by the church. My kind of default subconscious thought was always probably you. You're you're probably the one that did something wrong here because the church leaders. I've never been awesome well on this particular day After months of kind of friction. I sat down with this person. A friend and And my boss at the time and i was blindsided by what they said to me It was the most without a doubt the most hurtful words i've ever heard somebody say to me Deeply attacking my character who i am as a person My worth my value and just for context sake. I heard things about how i am not fit for ministry I'm not. I don't have a future in ministry not very good at this whole thing I mean it in these are giving you that the g. and pg version of how that day went And to honest man it was just. You can't under like. I can't overemphasize how hurtful that day was. I left and shock. And i left in pain that sent me that. That moment really sent my life into a tailspin. i came home. My wife asked me how that day went. I said that i had got fired. And these really hurtful things were said to me. I was blindsided completely and she laughed because she thought i was joking. I'd been ministry thirteen years at always had been going great so it. It was truly seemed unbelievable and And she laughs. Serious like today was terrible. And here's what happened. And that day started a season in our marriage that was by far the worst season that we've ever experienced deeply painful. I wrestled with identity. I moved into a deep season of depression. I pulled away from my wife. I pulled away from my kids. I hated the church. I hated being around anything. Christian or in god's ministry a hated all of it. And i had vowed i never want to be part of any of this ever again. I vowed i'm going to be in business. I'm gonna go do business stuff. And i will make my life outside of church because this is messed up and i never wanted to be part of that any of that ever again and and in the middle of all that i did not know if our marriage would continue in fact there were times where i thought for sure we were going to end in a divorce and there was one day in particular where Layla and i've shared the story in books and things before. But i wanted to give you some more context here. there was one day when layla we were in the middle of a fight and she was staring at me as i was saying really hurtful things to her and she started tears in her eyes. And she said jared. I just want you to know that. Every morning i get up at two in the morning and go into the living room and i pray that god would capture your heart again and that was a slap in the face to me man that was the holy spirit had used that moment had used her faithful prayers to start to turn my heart back to his to start to soften my heart toward all the walls ahead been built up and And and that was really the start of tired. Not that i was trying to start any kind of ministry but i just happen to write on my facebook page I wrote a little blog. That basically said that story. I told him i in this blog. I talked about how layla praying for me. about how i didn't wanna be the man that i had been the last several months i was depressed and that ended up me one. I ended up in counseling leyland. I went to counseling together. I started to find some healing. That blog ended up getting going viral. And you nothing about blogs or podcasts. Or anything like that. And i'll spare you all the details here man because i'm rambling a little bit. But that is how dad tired started. More and more people started to be interested in the idea that men could be broken and still want to follow jesus in lead their family. Well and so. I was just processing in the middle of all my heart..

"dad" Discussed on Dad Tired

"To be about six and a half feet tall. Just this big man and he comes up to me and walks up to me and he puts his hand out for me to shake. It and i was super intimidated so just stared at the floor while i she usually put my hand in his and he immediately said nope. That won't work. Give me a good handshake. A squeezed a little tighter. And then he said now looking in the eye tell me your name and so i looked up and i remember hugest so big giant guide of so timid. I remember telling you my name. Why squeezed his hand and he wasn't being mean or like overly aggressive us just trying to teach me the kinds of things at confident. Men do that. That man has named steve. He actually went on to me my first job. He spent years of his life really investing into me. He had his own sons and he was doing his own thing but he really brought me in and taught me a lot of things. And i sat there thinking about steve. A bunch of other guys started to come to mind like my youth pastor kayla. Who taught me with a real apology. Sounds like Or my friend. Michael's dad who taught me not only how to play drums to serve in church to like show up on time to not be the star of the show to listen more than i speak or randomly make noise or i thought about my boss. Bill who taught me how to negotiate with kindness and firmness at the same time or had this mentor. Monty who tell me what it looks like to say. Hard things in love. That was so foreign to me. I'd never experienced that as a kid. Especially from a man discipline always felt like somebody didn't love me and he really showed me that discipline and love. They aren't two separate things but they're actually one in the same and all these men that really liked took me in. I was taken back honestly man. I had this flood of memories in this at the same time this flood of like emotions. Because i thought to myself man. I am who. I am today because of these men. I wouldn't be the guy i am today. I wouldn't be the kind of father i am. The husband the disciple or leader. That i am if these guys didn't bring me into their fold. They all had their own kids. They were all doing their own thing. Had their own jobs had their own. Like you know problems that they're figuring out in their own marriages all that stuff that they're they're working on in their own lives in yet in some way. They sacrificed to bring me into their lives and to teach me what it looked like to be a man. I didn't have a dad growing up. And they brought me in to teach me these things. And i was as i was thinking about them and i was like really brought back to these motions because honestly i say frankly i suck at this kind of thing reflecting i suck at reflecting like i'm not good looking back at like taking the time to pause and to reflect back on my life my childhood i think some of that has to do with my god given wiring just to be a dreamer and You know wanna look forward to exciting things that lie ahead but also i don't like looking back because i know that there's part of me that behind me as pain. I think there's a part of me that knows when i look back. I'm gonna find pain. I'm gonna find i'm gonna find insecurity and so it's just easier for me to look forward but there was power from me and looking back even healing honestly. It was humbling for me to recognize that these men went out of their way to pour into my life. And some way you know. i'm. I'm not sure dude like the kind of personality you are How wired you but highly encourage you to stop for a minute and to think about the guys that have poured into you for a lot of you. I know that it was your dad. Like you guys had your dad's around and he was the driving influence her in your life as a man. He was the one that helped shape you to become a man but i know they're also a lot of you guys who are like me didn't have data around or maybe your dad was around physically. But he just. He wasn't that like a role. He was intentionally shaping you to be a godly man and so when you think about your own life your own childhood when you think about these guys who helped shape you like who comes to mind even right now as i'm talking. Is there a particular guy that sticks out to you in your head because the truth is even if your dad was around and he was engaged in your childhood it's still takes a village to raise a child and so who was in your village. I who what what guy brought you into his circle in some way to help shape you who who would you look back on and say i am the man i am today. Because this guy or these guys really pour into me. I was reading romans this week in some struck me in a way that it had before. It's crazy man. How you can like read the bible multiple times or the same verse multiple times but somehow when you read it again you feel like you're reading it for the first time. This happened to me. I was reading this verse. Romans and just hit different. Listen to what. This verse says in romans. Nine twenty two. What if god although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known bore with great patients the objects of his wrath prepared for destruction. What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy whom he prepared in advance for glory even us whom he also called not only from the jews but also from the gentiles as he says in hosea. I will call them. My people who are not my people. I will call her my beloved. Who is not michael of it and in the very place where i said to them. You are not my people there. They will be called dron of the living. God do this is incredible this him he had. I've read this verse one hundred times in this. Hit me so different this week. I don't know if you caught that man. But the writer of romans as essentially saying this god is showing off his glory and his mercy not only to his chosen people his children the jews but also to us the gentiles us a random guys who aren't part of the quote unquote holy lineage. Have been brought into the fold of got expanded. the circle to include people who should have never been included. He expanded his circle to include you and me. To put it more bluntly the reason you in high are even here. Today as followers of jesus is because god made a tremendous sacrifice to bring you into his family. He expanded his circle to include. You do that is really really good. News and here's the thing. It isn't just good news. That god brought you into a circle and he called you his son but it's also that he's helping you grow as a mature followers him. Want you to ask yourself this right now. As a son of god who's been brought into the family of god are you growing in spiritual maturity. And i know dude i know that's a tough question to answer honestly like if if somebody asked me that question right now. I'm i don't even know if i'd know how to answer that. But try to over complicate it. Think about spiritual maturity in the same way that you would think about your children growing immature when you. I have kids your just excited. That they're part of the family. You're not like when you're we're about to have a newborn next month You know this will be our fourth child when when this baby comes in she's gonna be up all night. She's gonna cry for two hours because she wants to. Eat to have to change your diaper. I'm not mad at any of that. I'm not getting mad at her. Because she's waking up in the middle not you expect that she's a baby. She knows nothing. She's brand new into the world and we're just happy she's here. We're just happy to have a part of the family. We rejoice we have so much joy because she just part of our family doesn't matter like that she doesn't know anything doesn't matter that she's going to poop and pee her diaper and she's going to wake up in the middle of night shows and know how to sleep through the night shows know how to eat properly how to do any of this stuff. It doesn't matter we're just happy. She's here but eventually two years from now five years from now ten years from now if she's pooping and peter pants waking up every two hours. We've got a problem right. Like we want her. To mature one her grow and maturity eventually she will grow through the season She'll she'll get to the point in her life where she learned how to use the restroom when she learns how to eat on her own she to have manners and then she'll go through this like she'll go through this season. All your kids do this where they're very selfish. They're trying to figure out who they are and dude. That's okay sometimes. My son wants to be a soccer professional soccer player. And then yesterday he wanted to be a professional rapper and then a firefighter in the my daughter wants to be an artist today and maybe cut hair tomorrow and a babysitter. The next day like they're they're figuring out who they are in two. That's okay. I don't we don't get mad at them. Like oh you better figure out your life. You better figure out who you are what you wanted to know. It's okay for them to learn to explore to like figure out. Who has god created me to be what are the personalities and characteristics and unique things that god has given me that. Make me me. it's okay to look internally but listen in five years from now ten years from now twenty years from now. i don't want them asking those questions. I want them to start to expand their thinking and start to realize okay. The world is not just about them but they're part of something bigger. They're part of a bigger family. They're part of the bigger story. And so we want our kids to grow immaturity eventually there to the spot as young adults and that when they hit their late teens and twenties hopefully by that time they realize. Okay god is now using me to be part of something much bigger than myself. And they begin to serve and to give sacrificial they know who they are. They've learned they're not ignorant anymore. They're not selfish anymore. They're starting to use the knowledge that they have to recognize that they're part of a much bigger story and they serve in ways that are beyond themselves right. This is what all of us are hoping for our kids. This is the same thing and spiritual maturity man. If you just think through maturity for your kids think through the same thing and spiritual maturity when you first come to know jesus when you make a decision and god brings you in and you say. I'm following cry. Believe jesus is god as hard as that is. It's like crazy as it sounds. Is that you know. I've got so many questions in my head. I'm i believe. Jesus is god. I believe he is who he says he was. When you make that decision do it's there's so much we're just happy to have you here. We're just happy that you've made that choice that you're part of the family that god's brought u. n. Nobody's getting mad at you. You don't know all the lingo and you don't have bible verses memorize who cares. Just we're stoke that you're here man. We're still that you've made that decision. Don't feel guilty about that eventually. You'll go through really st- selfish stage in your spiritual maturity okay. That's totally okay man. You're going to be asking yourself like you know. What does it look like for me to pray. And what kind of church do. I like to go to an kind of bible. Should i get and you're just you're like learning it's all about you. I think i like this kind of music. And i i like this kind of teaching and I like this version of the bible. Like all that. That's okay that's totally okay. But eventually what it looks like to grow and spiritual maturity as you'll start to recognize. God didn't just save you. It's not that. I christians and non christians and that's it like now that you're christian you just wait till you die no goddess growing you up and spiritual maturity and so as you grow you become more you have more knowledge of what it looks to be a follower of jesus you kind of move past the selfish stage. Which again that selfish stage is okay a little bit but as you move past that and you start to recognize oh man i got his redeeming the whole world. He's doing something way bigger. This story is bigger than just me. My personal relationship with god and my own little family like god is using me or wants to use me for something much much bigger and this is when you know that you're starting to mature in christ that god is now using you for something. Bigger you're having is that are beyond yourself. So where am i going with all this now. The like talking on. It seems maybe like. I've been going all over the place i mean. Just get straight to the point. The reason you and i are here today is because god expanded his family to include you. That's what that verse was saying. You are not my people and now your children of the living. God you are not my beloved but now you are my beloved. You are not my people but now you are my people. God did not have to call you into his family. He had his people. Unless you come from the lineage. Of abraham unless you're part of the jewish people That you know has claimed now jesus as your savior unless that's your lineage. God didn't like you were part of it and got expanded it out to not just include his children. The jews but also us gentiles. The ragamuffin people that have been called and saved by jesus got has expanded his family to include you. You weren't part of his family and yet he made a huge sacrifice for you to be adopted in many of us have been on this journey for a little while. now we've got some kids. Were learning how to stumble our way towards spiritual leadership. We're our best to mature and to grow as a disciple. And i guess i'm just wondering if god is calling some of us to expand our circle to invite others who aren't part of our family in i am the man i am today because god invited me into his family. But i'm also the man. I am today because a lot of other guys invited me into their family as well. If you were to read the bible cover to cover front to back you would quickly realize that. God has a heart for a lot of people but he has a special place in his heart for fans widows and foreigners these phrases come up over and over and over again in the scriptures. You can't read the bible without recognizing man like really loves and he cares for and as a heart for the orphans the widows and the foreigners that comes up so much in the bible and maybe spiritual maturity isn't just memorizing more verses or tithing more and listening to more kayla maybe spiritual maturity means that your heart starts to look more like the heart of god. This is probably why. James says in james one twenty-seven religion that is pure and faultless in the eyes of god. Is this listen anytime now. Writer says this is what god accepts as pure religion. We should probably listen. Listen to what he says. Religion that is pure and faultless in the eyes of god this to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. Here's what i want you to ask yourself right now. Who is not part of your family that needs the love and influence of a godly man. A lot of you guys have been part of the dad tired community for longtime were stumbling our way through this stuff but maybe for all of us spiritual maturity means that we start to take our eyes off of our self for a little bit and we start to look at the world around us and see where god's heart is hurting and how our heart can start to look more like his. Is there a kid at your church. Doesn't have a dad. What single moms dino. That need help. What kids around you and your neighborhood on your street at your kid's school that are fatherless who comes to mind. Here's the thing bro. The the world isn't going to be impressed by our fancy. Lingo are eloquent words. That won't be won over by political policies or extravagant church services with cool lights and fog machines and cool music. But you know what i think might get the world's attention you know what i think might make them stop and look twice at christians. Seen thousands of men from around the world. Say not only am. I gonna lay down my life for my own kids but also for the kids who don't have a dad. Maybe then the world might get a glimpse of our father because what is the father like. What is this god like that we serve his name is the lord rejoice in his presence. He's the father to the fatherless. The defender of the widows. This is god whose dwelling is wholly psalm..

"The crack in the door to the eyeball and that's all you have and that's how you make a friend. Now it takes six weeks of that repair it repetitively over and over again for them to actually open the door cuz they trust you enough now to have a conversation some day. They might invite you into their living room someday. They might offer you a glass of water when you get there. That's up to the neighbor say step-parenting has to work within the pace of the foiled and if you have this eager and if your eagerness gets the best of you and you start pushing the door down you lose trust you lose your opportunity and they see you as somebody who's a threat not someone to be allowed in and now you just made it ten times harder so somebody just listen to that moment and just said, oh now I get it now. I did I already pushed the door down and now I'm trying to build trust back again. Yeah, which means standing on the doorstep you might have to stand on the driveway and talk at a distance and it's slow going depending upon how long Pain has been has happened already. And that's the journey now. If you do it, well from the beginning then then the door opens a little more quickly. And by the way, you got three step-kids two of them open it fast. One of them opens it slowly. It feels a little schizophrenic trying to navigate each one of those relationships it is what it is caused by wage or just add another layer see Blended families have so many layers that that's the thing. We really have to spend time unpacking but imagine this guy is also a biological dad. He's got his own children and the door is always open and they're always eager for him to walk in and fact if anything they're running into his front lap on the doorstep and everything is not easy, but when it comes to the stepchild that one step child, it's hard. It's just hard knowing who you are at any given moment. Am I stepping in or my stepping out and my letting my wife do this or is that my job? Those are the things that you got to navigate work together with your wife work through your wife with her children and wage the doorstep until they allow you into their heart. Then you have more influence. Now you're able to to build character and do all kinds of awesome things that dads can do but she has to be on the child's timing Ron as you were talking man. I felt myself getting emotional and choked up and I'm just I'm not sure exactly what nerve that pricked, you know as you sharing but I know at the very least I just grew in compassion for that Dad and that mom who's listening. Yeah and mayonnaise one thing for us as men specifically to really open up our hearts and to step into vulnerability with our wives that what you described is really a relationship with their spouse. And anyways, like I'm home. I'm trying to knock on that door and go into and you can hurt me and I can hurry. It's a very vulnerable relationship anytime and that's hard enough. Right? Any married man would say that's really hard and not getting emotional just thinking about now, but the dad who is doing that with both his wife and now kids that is a heavy burden to bear but man so worth it. That's what I was thinking of and I think that's what was maybe just kind of pricking that nervous thinking when that door does open and how worth it is it? Yeah, there's a dad who's patient and who's stumbling Thursday through that. Sometimes he pushes too hard and sometimes he he realizes it now. He's in the driveway, dude. I'm going to get I'm going to start crying out loud too long, but man, I just want to like to that Dad and into that Mom just stick with it..

"If you've been part of the data. Audience for any amount of time, you've probably heard me talk about how this whole thing started out of a really crappy season of my own marriage personally, and I've talked about this in the DAD tired book I've shared about it on many podcasts and but. There was a season where Leyland I were just this really really crappy season. I don't know how else to describe it It really wasn't her it was me if I'm totally honest like I just I sucked as a husband and dad I was really dealing with a bunch of identity stuff and my own just like personal stuff and I was blown away from my family. I was pulling away from my kids and I. Just I was a I sucked as a husband dad man I don't know how else to say it. It was really terrible and we were in just a really bad spot A. Marriage and there was a particular day in I know of shared the story in the book and the podcast. But on bear with me here I, there was a particular day where we were in another fight and I had said something on purpose to hurt her in just my complete immaturity as a husband and so I remember it. So vividly man we were standing in our bedroom and I said something to hurt her on purpose and she started to get tears in her eyes and in my stupidity I thought to myself literally, like I'm winning the argument like I'm I'm up is just so dumb. And Anyway. She's got tears in her eyes she and she's just staring at me and I'll never forget the way she looked at me. She's never looked at me like that before or sense and. It was very just heavy heavy moment and she looked she paused and she said jared I just want you to know I've been waking up at two in the morning every morning I set my alarm to go off and I wake up and go into living room and I pray that God would capture your heart again and always said man like I would have rather she custom me..

"Burn off this little gut that I've got going to take care of this dad and I know this is something that you guys talk about all the time and something that you guys are concerned about as well because they see it in. There are closed data at facebook group. If you're not part of that group got about twelve thousand guys from all over the world or part of that group and oftentimes guys who post in there and say man, it's time for me to step up. I'm ready to get rid of his dad bod`ed, what do you guys suggest, and those are some of the most commented on Post that happened in the DAD tired group. You'll see hundreds of comments on their of really cool stories of like before, and after of guys who kind of lost track of their fitness and they just got things got out of hand and they got totally out of shape and then they decided they were gonNA, figure it out, and so they'll post before and after picture, and then all the guys will comment on their like dude, what you do or is it key? Does Paleo did you fast for three years? What do you got going on there, teach me your ways and it really is One of our most responded to post that happened in the data group is guys who are trying to get back in shape and looking for advice and ways to do that. So I know this is something that you guys talk about. So this has been the this has been what I've been focused on this week, and this is what have been This is my new thing. If you know me, I get into different things pretty much every week. And this week I'm focused on just men. How do I get back in shape at all start eating healthier being more disciplined, and as I do that one of the first questions I always try to ask myself as someone who's trained. My best to follow Jesus in the ways of Jesus is I was just asked like does God care about this does God's word have anything to say about this? Does he care?.

"Trying to think what is the thing that I hope that guys who are listening get out of this and the first couple of things I would love to hear what you think, but first couple of things that come to mind number one is I hope guys can hear to Christians who are coming through this at a different angle? Just lovingly have these kind of conversations because I think they're so healthy and I think they're really unhealthy. doing them on the Internet where people are just kind of yelling at each other all the time. So that's the first thing I would say just having Christians being able to have these conversations in a loving way I think that the we it's important for Christians to be to to wrestle through this stuff and to do with love in like to say and I want we both want. Follow Jesus here I love that analogy gave at the beginning. We're. We're not on opposite sides. We're on the same hill, looking at Jesus trying to figure out our Jesus. What wisdom would you give it to us? And then the second thing is these are the kind of I think this should be the posture of the way that we have conversations with our kids on what I'm afraid of is, if we give our kids really definitive, black and white answers, this is what you should do then when they go out into the real world, and they have people who kind of test that or who have different perspective I frankly, that's where a lot of young people end up leaving the church like Oh, I, didn't even you know. My Mom and dad must be really old school and I'm GonNa. Listen to what they say anymore and so I think just being able to like process these. Obviously our kids are for some of US have young kids. Your kids are getting too into their teenage years old young adults, and so, but just to be able to like. Sit Down and have these like really. Let's wrestle through the scriptures. What does the Bible? Say What do other people's that we love? Say like what would our gay friends say? What would our? What would our Jesus loving friends say and like just? Just wrestle through all of that together I. Think it's just really really good model to set up for them, but anyway I guess that's kind of the things that I hope that. People who are listening to get out of it. Is there anything from your perspective like this is what I hope. A listener gets out of this. Yeah. I, think I need a really good I love the idea of as Christians we, we can work together work on the same team like we we we have to learn to like love each other enough like this liberal, rightly loving people, so let's do that to our brothers and sisters in Christ and like we don't have to die on all these hills. Linked to to get our.

"Even before humanity. Did we believe as followers of Jesus that there was God the Triune God God the Father God the Son. God the Holy Spirit where in community with each other, and this is like A. New To church, or even if you've been in church long time, this is a still a hard concept to grasp, but there are three distinct persons in the trinity, and yet they're enjoying each other and community, and then God says let us create humans and our image what he's doing saying. Let's expand the circle of community. Let's invite other people into this community, and so God begins to create creates the heavens and the earth, and the stars and the mountains, and and all the beautiful things ever. Poetic he says this is good. This is good. This is good, and then he creates his most prized possession, humanity, man and woman. He says this is really good. He can pats himself on the back on that. This is really good. He says it's not good. So first time we see in scripture say something's not good. Even before Sandy says it's not good for man to be alone, so let's create for him a helper and so god creates a. A woman out of Adam. He again is continuing to expand this community. Expand the circle, invite more people, and to enjoy him, and so he creates humans, and the very beginning of the story. Everything is like awesome. If you start to read this grand story of God and the very first pages of scripture like man, this is this is really good. Things look really good, he he says he places them. In the Garden of Eden Everything's beautiful there naked. I was like saying that word in church there naked. And Unashamed which is beautiful, right? There naked and they love it, and they enjoy each other and got says be fruitful like make babies have fun. Enjoy each other. Enjoy the earth. Enjoy the garden. Good. And then the Bible says that there's one who's more crafty than all the others. The Serpent Satan comes up to eve and tempts eve with this thought. He says this did God really say that you can't eat from any of these trees. Is that what God said no, he didn't say he. He actually said the opposite. He said you can eat from any tree in the garden, except for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Very first words out of Satan's mouth is.

Very few of us can find the time. Time to do that without all the screaming and chaos, and so two like to finish a book as a young Dad, who's trying to be husband, a dad and work, and all the savages? It feels impossible. I used to read a lot before I had kids now i. hardly ever read, and that's why I love links. What they do is they condense? Thousands of nonfiction books, fifteen minutes, or less that you can either read or listen to you. I like to listen to a few books before I go to bed at night. We had been talking about this for years, and we finally got into a home and our kids that they really loved it for about three days. and there was this moment like three days into this house when and just kind of like the newness wore off, and my son Said Daddy. Will you play in the backyard with me and And when he said that I just thought man like this house means absolutely nothing. If Daddy isn't present and the house like sure that you know the, they're happy to have a room to sleep in the happy have A. A yard to play in and whatever, but like they're not gonNa grow old and think man I really love that house. Even though my daddy was never physically or mentally around like my dad, you know. Know we'll be set and the truth is. They don't care like they don't. They're not any more happy in this house than they were in this tiny little town home that we just came from our home, the small house we were renting before they just don't care. It means nothing to them. If Daddy's not present what they'll look back on is not the house they lived in, but with a look back on was daddy. Daddy, present and I guess what was.

I, mean just say that one more time because I wanted to soak in one of my biggest fears for us as dad's as that, we will run past our kids in an effort to chase down a better life for them. A Leyland. We'd just bought a new home and we've been trying for almost our entire marriage to save up and to get ourselves in a position where we could buy a house and we were renting for pretty much the entire time our kids have been alive, and and then we moved into a little town home kind of in the interim, and then we just we saved up and we worked hard, and we finally got in this home. Home that we love and it's it's great for our little family, and it's got a yard which we wanted and which it's Kinda hard to find him Portland like something. That has an a yard where the kids can play. It was just amazing, and our kids loved it like we we. He got us a house and that's really all we wanted in life. Do we all know that right and I? Guess? I can just subconsciously Kinda. Thought like if I get my kids a house that they love you know.

"All right guys. We'll welcome back. We have a bonus episode today. This is not a normal day that we would release an episode. And it's not a normal episode We are in the midst of a quarantine as you know. You're probably home with your kids listening to this. So I have a special guest. Somebody that's never been on our data show before may introduce to you for the very first time weighing in at sixty pounds soaking wet four foot. Three I have no idea what you are. My son allies yellows hate. But how are you how are you? I'm good let me just this microphone. Voice Don get areas. That's good heritage's me and Elijah Elijah and I I in Elijah the two of us. We should probably work on some grammar this week. we had this idea to since we've been stuck in the house. It's only been like three days and we're already at the top of our Getting a little antsy so we had this idea where we thought we would have. Families data hired families memorize scripture together. one verse a week for however many weeks were in this whole thing and And so Elijah tell them a little bit about how this whole thing is going to work. What's the first thing that people need to do? So the first thing you WanNa do is memorize What the verse. We're GONNA give you so. Let's tell them what verse. It is. What I do they memorized this week. Joshua one nine Joshua one nine They won't be able to see this because this is a podcast so they can't see us. Should we read it for him? So the verse Joshua One nine says have a now commanded. You be strong encourage courageous courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not discouraged for the Lord. Your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua one not. That's right okay. So that's the verse. We're GONNA work on this week again. It says I have not commanded. You be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged for the Lord. Your God will be with you wherever you go. Just real quick dude. What do you think that means? What do you think God was saying there? What does he wants to hear? Well I think it means that you shouldn't be afraid. Whatever you like run through and like I think God is always going to be with you so you don't have to worry and don't be afraid that's perfect. That's exactly what he's saying Is it kind of scary times? Some people kind of afraid right now with everything going on. Yes so it's it's it's easy to like watch the news and sometimes we watch the news and it's like Oh man that's kind of scary but we see God's say hey have I not commanded you be strong. Be Courageous courageous meets means have courage. Courage do not be afraid And do not be discouraged for the Lord. Your God will be with you wherever you go so we know even if we don't know what's ahead of us we know that God is always with okay. So that's the first thing we want everyone to memorize this verse. Verse will be memorizing together as a family this week. And then what's the second thing that they need to do? They need a Posted posted take video. And then what did take a video of your kid reading it. I mean memorizing it and You posted to dead tired kids so we created this group. We have a. We have a facebook group for normally for dad tire. Dad's but we created a dad. Tired Kids Group. So if you go to dad or if you go on facebook and you search dad tired kids and we'll put a link in the show notes here so you can click on that but you we've already got a bunch of people in this group already in their kids already started to work on this so if you're not in there yet jump in there. Today is Wednesday March Eighteenth So we'll have all week for the kids to take videos. And do you have a facebook now? I'll probably get grounded. Yeah if you ever get any kind of social media at all you will be grounded for life and if I did. I don't really know who I would have on facebook. I wouldn't really have anyone 'cause kids don't go to facebook and parents do but like I would just be going into facebook so it'd be kind of weird if you had to count and you're like adding people's parents 'cause you never know who's out there that's right that is exactly right so kids won't be able to probably don't have a facebook but we're going to ask the DADS to If you're listening to this take video of your kids only posted on the DAD tired kids group. It's a closed group for just the data listeners. And their kids but that way we can see all the other kids who are practicing this first together So upload the video of your child or children Sane this verse by memory and then And then what's the third thing that they need to do? What happens at the end of the week next week from now? What are we gonNA do when we look through? All these videos. I WanNa see the videos and we're GONNA see all the people who memorize the all the kids who memorized it and we're GONNA put all their names in This hat that and we're GONNA whoever gets picked out will be the winner and whoever's the winner will get a prize is it like while they win a new will we ship them Pencil No because they would not be happy with all the work they've done in basically something not could be that fun like putting all that work and you just want to Pencil So should we make huge like a house where they were in the house? No because they WANNA get to keep it for their selves. It's true and probably would be hard to ship a whole entire house just something smaller but like in between that kind of maybe a Lego set or something really fun. An art set or a Lego set. Boys girls anyone can enter into this and do this but we'll find a bunch of cool prizes and then we'll pick one winner every single week that we're all in this quarantine so again number one memorized. Joshua one nine we are using the NFC. Virgin you can use whatever version you'd like version Memorized Joshua one nine. Secondly go on the data kids facebook page and uplift upload The video of your child or children saying by memory can. Are they allowed to cheat? Like if you can have a bible behind the camera because if we saw the Bible behind the camera than knew for sure wouldn't get the price you got to memorize ak like do put in the work bro. So put in the work. Memorize it. You've got a week to do it. We recommend maybe doing a sentence a day and you should have it memorized. No problem and then Wednesday we will all these names and pick a name out and somebody will get to win a prize. We will go to the store before that. Pick out some really cool prizes ship. It out to you if shipping. If the post office is still open we will definitely get it out to you which we hope and believe that post offices will still be open all right. So that's your challenge for this week. Memorize averse as a family. Say By memory upload it and hopefully you get chose mic over. The Dad Tired Kids facebook group. Thanks for hanging out today..

"Well I want to dive straight into today's episode and dive into what we're talking about today Eh on today's Sunday and it's actually my daughter's birthday. You may hear her screaming in the background because she just had her very first cupcake For the first time she's it just turned one year old and down so she got her first cupcake. We just did a little family celebration and she may lose her mind. I don't know how she's GonNa react to that I know there's like a trend that this may be a Portland thing you guys can reach out to me. Let me know as maybe a Portland thing but There's a trend where people are giving their kids now. like healthier alternatives jobs to cupcakes. Maybe your family does this. Maybe you're wiser than I am. And you give them like. I don't know like a cupcake Broccoli. Broccoli cupcake thing and dead spinach cupcake instead of like. I just went to Safeway man like I just went to the grocery store and picked up a chocolate cupcake and I gave it to my daughter. She's one so I don't know if I'm the worst parent the world world. She's never had that much sugar in her life and she's probably going to be screaming in the background. That's a tangent all that to say Today's her birthday and we're really excited about it. She she may be chaotic in the background. So bear with me. I'm dead tired. I'm still recording. This podcast My bedroom after all these years in our little home and it's chaos so thank you for your Dad Grace Today's Sunday yesterday was Saturday coach. My son's soccer game indoor soccer games on Saturday and we played a game yesterday yesterday and we got just destroyed. The other team beat us. I think it was like seven to one or seventy two. We got okay. Let's not lie actually know exactly what the scores it was. Seven not be real bad and so this is I've I've coached soccer games for years. Coach soccer teams for years. We played a lot of outdoor. We're you know not to like this. Sounds really dumb. Because they're eight years old but we've done very well in their little leagues and played soccer. We've always put good teams Coach good teams and the the the kids have done really well and had fun together. And I'm trying not to like just brag on kids right now because they're eight and it's really stupid but anyway we're we've normally really done very well and now we're playing. Indoor and the exact opposite is happening. We have not won a game. I think they've the opponents in the last three games of scored twenty six goals against us and we've scored a total of four. We're just getting destroyed like a big time taking a piece of humble pie here Thanksgiving giving week and In the last three weeks and we're just getting destroyed and yesterday we're playing a game and we're getting destroyed by the other team which has been kind of the normal for us the last couple of weeks and I'm like getting frustrated. The kids coaches kids for awhile. And I'm kind of getting frustrated McMahon. We know better like the. I've taught these kids for Awhile Tom for several years. They know how to play. AWW same position and I'm feeling myself get a little bit frustrating and at the end of the game as I'm kind of sitting there just watching the other team pound goals on us. I was thinking This isn't really the kid's fault like for one. They're eight and two. They're not trying to lose like no kids showed up today thing and now I'm just going to let the other kids beat us like all. The kids are trying gene whether they're doing the right thing or wrong. Or whatever like they're trying their best none of them showed up to lose and so then I had this thought of the person that's really blame. Here is me as a coach i. I can't blame these eight year olds need to look myself in the face and Look at my I look at my face in the mirror and really just say like men like what am I doing wrong. Am I doing something. Am I not coaching them. Well and is there something. That's falling short on me than I need to take ownership of so you fast forward. The reason we even tell you about the soccer stories because fast forward I leave the soccer game. I come home. Layla goes out with some ladies from our church to celebrate a birthday party. And I'm here with the kids kids and so it's just me and the three kids and the chaos pure chaos trying to feed them dinner. I've got a baby crying. I can literally hear my daughter screaming in the background right now I can hear her screaming. Remain in one room wondering she like getting into stuff and my other two kids wrestling around and the the couch is literally flipped over. Like I walk in from the kitchen and and I go into the living room and the couches flipped over. We have moving boxes everywhere because we have to move people to listen to podcasts. It's just everything is chaos and my first reaction is again frustration. Like the kids know better. Why are you being disobedient? Why are you guys acting so crazy before bed which I don't know what kind of universal universal truth this is but like every kid just loses their mind thirty minutes before bedtime And it's just the most frustrating thing the world has been dealing with this for the whole have been a dad so anyway they're just losing their mind. Couches literally flipped over. My daughter's like digging in the trash my one year olds digging in the trash just chaos and I'm frustrated. I yell upset. I tell them. Go the room. Go Brush your teeth get ready for bed. And I'm putting them the bed and I put them to bed kind of like frustrated frustrated and I have this long speech with him and everyone kind of goes to bed grumpy and then I'm laying in bed. My wife still our Enjoying the night with her friends and so I'm just laying in bed in quiet quiet and I just think to myself the same thought that just had with the soccer team and it really is like how much of this is on them. And how much of this is on me as the dad that like. What do I need to own as the dad here because ultimately their kids and they will follow leadership and of course every kid is naturally naturally by because of San the fall there naturally rebellious and they're going to make bad decisions all the time but really like my first reaction is to blame all the time and I think it's easy for us as husbands and DADS to find herself frustrated at our kids when they're not being obedient or maybe at our wives and our marriage when things aren't thriving having when things feel chaotic on but I think it's super important for us as DADS to really ask ourselves? How is my leadership Our first first tendency is always to blame like this is. This isn't just a youth thing or meeting. Our kids thing like our first tendency is humans has always been to blame. Listen to this. Listen Genesis. Three verse nine. This is actually right. The very first time we see sin enter the picture Adam and eve decide to turn their back away from God to make their own decisions. It's decide I wonder. If God's design isn't the best and of I wonder if I should kind of make my own rules and do the life the way that I want to do life and then they sin and this is what happens in verse nine Genesis Chapter Three but the Lord God called to the man and said to him where are you and he said I heard the sound of you in the garden and I was afraid great because I was naked and hid myself. He said who told you that you were naked. Have you eaten from the tree which I commanded you not to eat. The man said listen to this first of all the man said the woman whom you gave to me. She gave me the fruit of the tree and I ate verse thirteen. Then the Lord got to the woman what is it that you've done. The woman said the serpent deceived me and I ate super super fast and fascinating. God says to Adam what have you done he says. Well that's this woman. You gave me giving me a better woman. I probably wouldn't have eaten the fruit turn fault. And then he asked the woman eve. Hey what did you do. Did you give some fruits. Your husband will you gave me the serpent. The serpent's here had he not been here. I probably wouldn't have the fruit. Everyone's passing blame to another person. It's literally been in the very first pages of the story of humanity from the very start When when we do something that's frustrating? We get in trouble or something that we don't like our first reaction is to blame. Just I mean you know this girl like you've got kids and you ask your kids. What did you do the first thing my kids do this all the time well? He made me while she made me while they started it. And we get mad at our kids for that right like Croatia until our kids. Hey own up take responsibility. What did you do? Is there something you need to be responsible for. Apologize for but just watch yourself and how much you wants to blame other people. This happens to me all the time you know when it happens most like when you're most aware that you are blaming as usually usually when you get hurt this is the funniest thing that we all do this like you. You could stub your toe in the middle of an empty living room. When you're by yourself and you just the first thing like who put the WHO? Who put the couch there? Who What Kid? Why did you like? We're just immediately starting to blame somebody like somebody else's responsible for this It's our first reaction isn't usually comes out when we're hurt but we always find ourselves when we're frustrated like who can I pass the blame off to and so when our kids are being disobedient when in our marriage isn't thriving when our household feels chaotic. Are I thought like naturally this is just you and your human sinful. DNA your first thought is who who can I be mad at who is responsible for this because certainly the subconscious thought is. It's certainly not me like there's no way I would be responsible for this and I guess what I'm kind of revealing myself or with the Holy Spirit really revealed in me just last night as I'm coaching these kids and soccer and then kind of had a more personal snow bigger experience as I get home and I see chaos in my home. My first thought was like who am I. Who can I blame? And then the holy spirit is kindness really revealed to me like what what is. Is it in your leadership that you need to own. Is there something here and you. Is there some lack of leadership in you that that may be contributing.

"I'm clearly not out chasing facing tolerance for this trying to get rich off this thing So that was but that wasn't the reason the reason was because I felt like. Oh maybe I'm not good at this. Yeah and and then same with like a book review somebody will leave like a three out of five stars and I'm like Oh you know what I'm going to hang up the whole thing Because I'm this is I'm not could at this. Had I had a dad to as a kid being like who cares like who cares if you get somebody gives you a three out of five stars or say you're the Jolo hosting podcast who cares. Because here's who God says you are That would probably roll off my back a lot easier and again. It's not like Macho confidence. It's not this fake. We just WANNA be tough dudes who don't care what people say. It's we want to be grounded in our identity in Christ. That's what we want for our kids. I'm not just trying to teach my son and my my daughters. I that you just need to be tough and sticks and stones can break your bones but words don't hurt words hurt for sure what we're trying to do is give them a deeper foundation a more more solid foundation which is who cares what people say not because you're tough but because look what God says about you. This is your identity you were holy. You are chosen. You're delighted lied in because he loved you. Not because of anything you can accomplish. And then when they get out into the real world and thing people say hard things you can just be like. Yeah that's maybe. My Book was three out of five stars or maybe my podcast does kind of soccer. Whatever but this is what God thinks of me and it's not going to rattle me to my core going to be depressed for the next ten days or be chasing fifty different jobs and careers? Because I'm looking for my identity because this is who I know I am so anyway come go ahead. I'm sorry I'm rambling a bunch. No it's okay I was just I was thinking we're talking about how when Like a child is raised in such a way way that their identity is shaped by their father for good or bad Like what do you do then when you find yourself a thirty year old dad yourself self and you are just Kinda just confused about your identity and Don't always feel like do you are who got called you to be do feel like that kind of that child. Wouldn't you think of Your Dad. You just I don't know maybe heart starts pounding and you're angry or you're you feel sad or like all those so interesting how you know. I'm I'm thirty five now and I'm like I can think about my dad and just start weeping you know and Like what do we how do we. How do we move forward? How do we like find our identity now? I think not that this isn't isn't the answer like to just solve that but I hear for somebody. That's still struggling with it. Here's what I'm telling myself One thing is he's just knowing that the motivation behind majority of what I do is chasing identity because of the lack of presence that my dad had that alone is helpful just to like be able to put words and tie connections there. Start identifying some of your behaviors as like why am I. What's my real motivation here? Oh it's because I'm just trying to figure out. Am I worth something. So that's helpful by itself. The other thing is my my heart longs for the day as we talk about Rosa revelation. Where there will be no more tears and nor pain more sickness like this? These are all sickness pain hurting and Jesus will one day make that all new. I think we get glimpses of Heaven here. On Earth Praise God the Kingdom of Heaven is invading fading Earth at this very moment and so there are moments of healing for me. I will sit and be like man. I don't have to chase that because this is what God has done in. This is who he says I am but I will always care. There will be holes or ruts that I will die with And and in that time my heart longs for Jesus to make things right again one day. I can't win for spouses. I think it's important to just like I don't know if he's still call like Gospel each other but like when you start like for me for example not having heard a lot of words for my dad I always was wondering like does he love me you know he never ever ever said I love you like I don't I can't I try and remember and I don't know if I fabricate a memory or two here and there but I don't remember we're hearing it and certainly I'm quite positive I've never heard him say I'm proud of you and so now Sometimes you can project those things onto God as your father and an and sometimes I do wonder like am i. Am I making God proud. I don't even know if that's like a right question but like wondering. Would God say he's proud of me like you know. This is layla with whom I'm well pleased like doubtful. All ever hear those words you know and like just having somebody to kind of remind you like what is actually true about God and like what are some things that are maybe it just hurts from your own childhood or just you just projecting like who your earthly father was and you're projecting that onto your heavenly father and it kind of teasing those apart and Yeah I also wanted to say as we're talking the wives That I said this on a podcast. I was a guest on this week but for the wives listening. Just want you to know that your it more than like probably your your your husband's friends more than his bosses more than really maybe anyone else you carry such power in the things that you say to your husband and your husband Most likely is walking around with a lot of those holes or ruts in his life because he didn't have a dad say everything regardless of how awesome is dad is. He's got dad wounds somewhere. He's somewhere on the scale and the things that you say to your husband Carey deep deep weight. And there's many men who just need to hear from maybe their wives that babe art if for a wife to say a bear on proud of you you have what it takes and even if you don't accomplish anything your loved like the was just saying to Gospel each other to to sit like this is who God says you are and you don't need to chase after things like you don't have to prove yourself in this family you don't have to prove yourself in this marriage or to our kids you just deeply loved by God and we love you and most importantly like God loves you based on who. You are not anything you can accomplish. Those words wives like we'll we'll carry deep deep. Wait for your husband's and again I think there are a lot of husbands who are kind of walking around there. The problem solvers in the family. They're tough they're strong. They're whatever but man there's Oh boy under their who's wounded and they may just need to hear from you wife to say like to tell them the words the truth of the Scriptures the truth of the Gospel that they never heard from down so that's my encouragement to the wife's. I'll just end here by saying this again like Dad. You'RE GONNA BE MESSED UP UP. Your kids are going to have wounds. All of our kids are going to have wounds one way or another regardless of how we do at this because we're human and were sinful and were broken and we're going to hurt them in some way And they're gonNA carry that for their whole life but would we be parents who hold hold up a mirror to our kids and as they look in it we just point and say this is who God has made you to be so that as they go Out into the world again. We're not just creating like tough kids. Were creating kids who really were not creating kids or encouraging kids. Who really can go back to the truths of the Gospel that their loved? Not because you have the biggest numbers God said are your anything special on earth but you are loved because God loved you. That's it God loves you and your loved and delighted in by the God of the universe and I think when we do that we helped set our kids up for success. So they they don't they don't turn into confused adults who like many of us run around the whole their whole lives searching for identity and searching undefined worth. I hope that's helpful. Leyla thank you for hanging now. I know you're exhausted. It's been a crazy week or so grateful that because listen again if you give to. The Dad Tired Ministry. He's a normal guy normal husband and WHO's trying to figure out what it looks like to fall in love with Jesus into live radically in his normal everyday life life and I really love that I'm like I wanNA start having more guys on the show that aren't necessarily authors or celebrities or professional athletes are whatever like they're just normal dudes who who are trying to figure out what does it look like for me to be a worker or try to own a little small business and to fall in love with Jesus more help my family fall in love Jesus more and <hes> so I think David May he's done a lot of things but more than like all the cool things he's done. I just love this heart as like a normal do- trying to follow after Lorne figure out ways to help kids kids do that. He's he's a young daddy's fairly newly married. <hes> you know he's not like super doesn't have tons of years under his belt when it comes to marriage but <hes> <hes> he's just trying to figure out what it looks like to be a dad and have young kids into fall Jesus. I love it. I think you guys are going to be encouraged by him. <hes> he's got some really cool perspective that is going to be helpful for you <hes> before we dive in today's episode though I do WanNa take my friends over at blankets for sponsoring this episode if you've never heard of bleakest. I really do like them. I think they're really cool APP. Most of us is young. DADS don't have time to sit down and to read a book and to learn <hes> although PS. I hope hope that you do find some time to sit down and read the entire book but to like sit down and read stacks of books is really hard. You always hear all these successful like CEOS. They read like thousands of books and and you like how do you. Where do you find time to do that. I'm a dad like working husband. I never have time to sit down and read so if you feel like that I wanNA learn. I WANNA learn more but I don't have the time to just sit down and read a book. <hes> blinking is going to help you. It's one of the most useful APPS that I have on my phone what they do is they've got a massive library thousands of nonfiction books which they condense down into the need to know information all the key takeaways <hes> that way you can either read it really quickly or you can listen to it really quickly. which is what I personally like to do? I like to listen on my commute or while doing the dishes or while. I'm cooking dinner. <hes> just try to bust out a book or two <hes> even daily. I'll I'll try to get through those <hes> just to keep my mind sharpy. Keep learning. They've got all kinds of book business books health books <hes> the kind of the be the bestsellers new titles. They've got a massive library. There's over eight million people who use news blankets so it's really it's a it's a it's a really really cool APP. I sincerely thank you guys are going to enjoy it. <hes> to the books that I just recently read I want to tell hey guys about one of them. <hes> actually reread it again. I read this book constantly. It's called start with why by Simon Sinek Simonson is one of my favorite authors his book in particular start with why I'll go back and listen to that blink is just kind of the key takeaway versions of that book often because I just find it to be so helpful. <hes> I use is that kind of language a lot on this podcast but also with some friends when I'm just talking to them about what it looks like to figure out how God has wired them for their purpose Simon Sinek. It's not necessarily Christian book but it's a very very good book on just how you are personally wired and <hes> y you do what you do. There's another one called emotional intelligence <hes> by Daniel Goldman which is another great book. If you haven't read those and you feel like you don't have time to read those <hes> jump on blankets and just <hes> you know listen to the condensed version. It's going to be helpful for you..
