Nothing about him is normal until you watch him. Play golf with this kid now granted. They're both amazing. The kids eleven years old and he's already a scratch golfer tiger woods a father. It's actually so cool because he's never he's never looked as as normal to me at least and when you see like he's actually so fired up for sunny made an eagle out there and the kid was all business you just walk into the next steve but you could see tigers classic watching your kid do that so i thought that was awesome and people talk about the expectations. "That sounds hokey. Never thought they all they're all they all get into it. They're so crazy during those two weeks. They're singing in people are you know half blitz that the games it's It's just it's it's an awesome experience. It ends up being such a Great party at the end of that tournament for teams to. I remember playing you. Had you had the night after the last game and everyone had six am flights. I'm sure you do the same thing when you were in europe. You're quickly out of this. That last night ever just goes crazy. Yeah i know the kids. Sometimes it's just like a bus ride in their god right. Yeah of exactly a few few hours or whatever. So yeah i'd say it's it's my favorite to events of the year are the world juniors in the masters for two different reasons the world juniors just because it's like. I said the best hockey that you see all year and there's so much passion for all of the players all the countries and by the way. I'm you know i'm a proud canadian but i i'm one who likes it when the other countries win. I like the last eight years or so. It's been great because everybody's one and when canada winds five golds in a row like they did in that stretch to two thousand nine was great for. Canadians is not great for the tournament. It's not it's it's great when finland wins and and the us knots. A couple of goals in russia wins a couple of loads. I think that's fantastic for the tournament. So you know. Call me a homer. But i like it when everybody was but the typical workday during this james sixteen hour days fourteen hour days. How how long the workdays yeah. Yeah junior will be long. But there's dick all do our like we literally in this bobble with there is nowhere to go. We have the hotel in evanston and the booth. Where bob and i will sit for the whole time. So there's literally nothing else to do so we'll get to the rink ferraro. Ever listened to this. He'll he'll laugh because him. A gourd ended up doing almost every game. And bob and i take off and he always makes all those intermissions that you do really grueling. The two and a half minute chat that you guys do. But we're calling every single game. But i kinda ride. Bob's coattails bob's at that sort of semi retirement age so bob always takes a schedule and he's like the godfather the whole bought by the thing is true so he grabbed the world junior. Skadden bob goes. Hey james and i'll do that game that game austria germany that game so i just sit back and ride bob's hotel but we're pretty much at the rink. We'll do two games a day at some of the day's will do three games but it's great. There's nothing else to do anyway. One story i forgot to ask you that was in the book. Ramree has come comeback story. And i know you were pretty close with him. I don't pretend to be close to him Busy i work in. Ottawa and follow was covering the ends. And i really respected. The guy always thought he got a bit of a bad rap. He was one of the first guys wore the flashy suits two games and things made your the way. He made some mistakes put at his heart. He was a good guy. Most guys noble say that right. The hockey players know him. Best and going when ray when ray passed it really bothered me that every story was about troubled. Nhl goalie ray. Emery dies in mysterious fashion. And it had this sort of cloud about an i say in the book if you google ram rez name. Every single story is about the way he died. Mattie nickel who you guys know the greatest trainer out there in a good buddy. I knew that he had he had helped reagan back from that injury and i a lot of people in hockey had already said. I'm sure i'm not. i'm saying something. You guys all know that that injury is one of the greatest sort of unreported comebacks ever and so matty. I wanted matt to tell that story and basically rake could have been. I know people exaggerate. These things sometimes but ray could have easily been paralyzed. This was a surgery that had only been done on one one guy and he was going to need. There was no way he was going to play in the nhl game again. It was almost impossible but he wanted to. And so he told. Matt you're going to bring back to the nhl. And matt said buddy. If i get you jogging again. It would be a massive success and raised it. No i'm gonna play in the nhl again so the story is more about these two guys and rated talk them out for like a month not thought who is this guy like. He won't say anything. Do all the workouts. When he's not talking to me. He hates me. he's gonna fire me. Oh as he led him in. They became like incredible. Friends and matt will now say now. He's he's the most generous hockey player he's ever matt. So i just wanted to tell a different side of ray. Emery that people may be didn't know because that comeback to win the jennings trophy and the stanley cup in chicago with proper and go. What one with a one point. Four goals against them like a nine sixty save percentage or whatever it was that year from why from where he was at the possibility of not walking again. I just think is one of the most remarkable comebacks in hockey history. That's a great story. I read the book. How many total stories are. They're in their fifty. Seven is welcome. Say i i got be ryan whitney chapter gonna look it up for you. Got into sweating sign did i did i. Not all i sign yours. Didn't i don't think he did. But i don't think he did. All you know what happened. I didn't the book's came out and the the The editor the publisher guys love you guys. By the way harpercollins. They have big fans and so they wanted to send books to you guys right away so before i even had the books they sent. Okay okay so. I promise i will send you how weird it is though from me. Send like autographed copies to. I'm like i'm like it's so it's so classy. If you have an autograph you gotta legit book and it's autographed by the author. I'm some dickie cable. Sports caster from candidate. I'm a i'm a pit. I'm present to. I know this writing to sydney to sid. Best wishes your head up. Shave is dear to wayne all the best say no to drugs. Keep dreaming large. You know it's just felt so dumb signing my autograph on books to all these legends. But i apologize for that. You guys will get autographed copies. I promise that's awesome. We'll dreamers. I didn't have any go ahead. Go ahead and like you know you always gonna go down a different path than world junior. So you can. I was going to mention the chapters the spitting chocolates fans out there just so they can go right to it. I'm sure they can. These last dance is chapter one. Two three four five six chapter six in the book and wit one of my old numbers. Bugsy i'm fifty seven overbooked. Pj i think it's called and trying to find it is like Overbooked pj that's like chapter page one thirty five and the number the chapters here so bugs these involved in the story with wit or he has his own chapter. But we're told two stories. Yes that's what i. I'm not trying to promote a podcast on your podcast. But they they ask you to do an audio book right. And i felt stupid just reading my book..

"Finished. I went and closed the closing ceremonies after and then we got in a car. Driver picked us up. Lisa flam the main news anchor in canada and i hosted the closing ceremonies and we got in the car and i sort of went holy crap like what a crazy day and we got fifty yards in some drunk. I ran across the intersection and the driver hit them. And sorry i'm laughing. It's uh get to it. So i thought we'd killed this guy and the driver was young girl volunteer and she was crying and all of the paramedics were there. In my head selfishly. I'm going oh man. I'm gonna miss the after party. The sucks bad. Get up like so. There was paramedics. They're like. Oh my god this guy's dead and we're gonna have to go to the police station of file report. And then all of a sudden he jumped up on his feet and he ran by the window and he was irish. I can't do an irish accent. But he's like sorry. Sorry my faults and just goes running off like the paramedics trying to chase him out and he was down for about five minutes so So i made it to the after party but that was probably the best experience of of my career that entire thing. Nothing ever closed. My buddies came and my brother like they they just ripped it up every single night and then we were playing like once every five days. It felt like so. I've said it many times it was. It was the craziest two weeks who the best experience in my life. Even though we didn't we didn't get it done When you when you start like that two thousand olympics because it was in canada could you actually sense like the pressure. Those guys felt. Because i've always thought it was just felt like it was just a bomb ready to explode. If they work in and get it done. There was such big favorites in vancouver and when we beat him in that first game. I really do feel like there was just so much pressure. Built up for them. It was a weird time like i. I was so shocked. They ended up winning it because it was tough when they lost that. First one to us. You're i think you're bang on and Not to plug the book. But i wrote a lead into that. No but i wrote i wanted to do a chapter about that and i ended up doing longo and just his entire perspective of it and you know luang was great in. He freely admits when after that game. I guess i think against you guys the first time i think that's when they made the change broder had a bad game and babcock texas louis on the boston. Says i wanna see the front of the bus When we get off. And he says your guy. Now and and lewis says he basically went white of the puke right. He's not one of these guys was bravado confidence. He he really felt that pressure of being in vancouver where he played and he felt like he wanted to puke the entire tournament. Except for the games you know. He settled in in the games. But i think canada felt that. Because if you think about that if you guys score not and pavlovsky had a really good chance. There was two or three really good chances. That olympics like it was an incredible picks for canada. We set a record for most gold medals by host nation and all that but if candidate loses that game on the last day and this is no disrespect to all the athletes. But it wouldn't have been the same would've felt like this massive letdown. If they lose that game would it would have gone from this incredible moment in our history. Canadian history too. Yeah but they lost the whitney in the guys in hockey. So it would have sucked. The other thing was that closing ceremony was kind of a. It was like this australian guy did it. And it had all these canadian stereotypes. It was a giant inflatable beaver. An inflatable moose. Flying around it was the tackiest thing ever seen ended ahead lost. Everybody would have been so pissed off. They would have been shocking. Things at the becky's guys but because they want everybody was drunk and now they kind of pulled it up party time. Sorry wit. sorry no no no. That was crosby doing that. It was it was meant to be. It was like that. He was put on this earth score that goal. He really was swear to god. He was james. You mentioned the book a couple times already. Beauty says the title once again. Grab it if you haven't read it yet Congrats again on fourth book. How do you decide what to write like. What's that whole process. Until i think it would be. Different are eight for every single book. I book was about a junior hockey coach. Brian kill ray Who's just a legend up here. I don't know if he's as well known in the stagecoach. The islanders briefly. But i've always felt like he was kinda sherry without the pulpit. You know he's just incredible. Larger than life character and i when i was working in ottawa. My early years. I covered him so i wrote his book. The second book was kind of cheesy book of columns easy book to write because that already written all over a year. Ten in the third book was kind of a collection of all my stories from my career so beauties sitting on that panel for eighteen years sitting next to guys not just like bob mckenzie and pooley dog will always side but biz was in there a couple of nights which was in there. I probably had fifty different players coaches like torts and and lobby. And i realized maybe five six years ago i had this collection of stories guys told me that i needed to produce something with and so i started kind of writing them down in my phone memo folder and i guess a year and a half ago or so started deciding it would be a book and so that was basically it. I guess for beauties. I you know. There's a million hockey books which have are like biographies. So they have a few good stories in them but you also have. That grew up in south boston. Whole childhood thing and i just wanted to write a book which is great stories. Which is kind of. I will say this like what you guys do. Every week as i was writing this it's not the blow too much smoke towards you but it was mation that i was doing the right thing because i think when i was first trying to make the deal with the publisher when you guys sorta started to blow up and as as you know i listen to you. Guys got more and more successful. It was confirmed in my head. What i thought i knew is that hockey just has so many great stories and so when i wrote this book i wanted it to be just when i call people. I said as you guys know because i badgered you for months. Just tell me your. Tell me an awesome hockey story. That's all i want. i don't want anything else. Just tell fifty seven different guys. Tell.

"We're all gonna be celebrate. Just be smart about it. That's all we're asking you to do all right. Moving right along a buddy henrik lundqvist. This is some tough news. He's gonna miss his first season with the capital heart condition quote. We have decided the risk of plane before remedy Remedying mike condition is too high. So i will spend the coming months figuring out. The best course of action is going to spend some time with his family. You gotta feel terrible. i mean this you know. Huge career change yet ruffea. Last year bone basic sorta restart his career. I guess late. And then this pops up out of nowhere seemingly awful news and it was exciting to think of him in another in another uniform to go to a team like washington was looking to rebound off kind of disappointing season off to a new beginning with a goal that you didn't isn't proven right so you didn't know yah i think any fan of the capital's could have seen lundquist all of a sudden being the starter the team. You never know so to have a kind of end like that. I don't wanna say that. I think i actually saw a tweet. I don't remember who is by saying this is the end for you. I don't know if he's gonna wanna go out like this right now. Who knows what's gonna go on with the hearten. What ends up being the future diagnosis. But just as shitty Tweet to see the video that he put up a kinda sought like that. That's a bummer. Because not only will as a fan was. I excited to see him somewhere else. I'm sure he was really ready to prove people wrong and and go in and plays as well as good. Yeah i think people could see his genuine love for the game and how much joy brings on and you could tell like you said week by that video it just. It was tough to watch l. Let's hope he gets better. And he's able to have a better send-off kazaa shouldn't be the end of that career. That's for sure now definitely not speaking of we want to send congrats to saint louis. Blue alex teen. He's retiring after fifteen seasons due to a back injury 'cause he won the stanley cup with the blues and twenty nineteen. He spends his first of toronto. He got traded along with kalo call. Jaka vol- felice stepney act. And he ended up spend the rest of his career at saint. Louis played a huge role. There he's got three and a half million due to a next year basically the he's not technically retired with the blues gonna put his money on long term injured reserve. They can go over the cap if they need to As guys who can watch the league for a long time fell yesterday that he got traded because he actually played with big wall In his played with big wall. Pack and winnipeg back in the ninety. So i mean. I was thirteen years ago. He got traded to saint. Louis show again esteems just the fourth forefathers unduly nhl history to register six hundred points apiece joined the. How's the how's the halls and the staff new show do know him at all biz while we were with him at training camp and i don't know we're gonna talk about soccer later. Did he get you on the chelsea train. Because i believe you know he's man city which was all that was considering. Yes so i remember. He had the socks so so busy. And i met him at the same time. And i can't describe to you. The sky like the way i would put it is. He's just he was a he was the ultimate like pro hockey player. He i showed up to the rank. I knew nothing about him. He's doing like thirty minute. Bike rides with before professional quick on the ice. He's doing every drill perfect. He's the hardest guy to move. He's the one that's going a hundred percent balls to the wall every practice. This was in training camp. You can tell the respect he gets. Everyone loves them funny. He's laughing with guys he's the ultimate team and we get to play games with them biz with this guy was so nice to us and just so respected by the entire organization trainers. Everyone's exterior off steiner said. Something got done. And when i saw that he retired i was like fuck it. I am so happy. Wanna stanley cup. Made me so happy. And think about. Think about guy who i i was in two training camps with. That's how i know him. And i speak like i. I knew the guy for fucking years because he was that friendly and not easy to get along with for me and you biz. That i was like this guy. This guy is the ultimate pro. Yeah work ethic definitely stood out in the training camp spell with. he was always on the monarch. Everybody had moved in and dismantled from sweden to just biking along rocky and most mornings are. You'd get in there. He'd be one of the first guys. They're riding the bike getting ready for practice. The work ethic definitely stood out but it was not only that but like we were there for training camp on. Pto's so he extended his arm out to us and every time they were going to eat larger than a group of like you know three or four guys the invite was extended to us. So i remember when i left there. I felt like i was part of the team. And that's why it was so sad but it was definitely great to to experience a duck another organization. Although it was only for a few weeks where. I never had a negative one. It was it was it was great. I you know. Armstrong all the way down and it's i. It sucks said he s retired because because of injury. But it's awesome that he ended up going to a place. It of eventually fell in love with him vice versa. He got a stanley cup. And i think that Maybe it's not the way you want to go out. But i think he can sit back and be like a hours. You can't really draw up better than that. Leafs leafs fans have all look back at that all my. That's yeah that over one thousand games played a hell of a career and keeping with the saint louis. Blues theme here ryan o'reilly will be the next blue cap and taken over. After four seasons of alex betrayal will be the twenty third.

"Worked with my trainer there and He's he's really helped me out a lot to be honest. The is really changed the way i've tried to the nineteen years old. I i do a lot of things. I probably wouldn't think i'd be doing at this. Age even nutrition younger. My career like i was working out and stuff but like a shithead. Yeah i i try and track. What i eat a little bit. I mean always going to have might cheat meal here there when i'm out with my buddies or something like that but I eat pretty healthy at home. I i like to think so at least up all the checks for buddies at home. Now right a little bit sometime- they'll pick it up. I got good buddies. A home office. Yeah but it'd be better if they're like doc or you know you have tonight thanks. Yeah yeah then. The night is treated dumps earls. Yeah prob cactus. Yeah oh yeah missouri. In canada kirby. How would you grade your first. Nhl season overall including the playoffs Enters a lot of oxygen downs Obviously eighteen years old playing the best you can. It's going to be tough. And i'm gonna have my times. I and times are flare. So i gotta find a way to be more consistent. I think that's a big thing for me. Is being able to be consistent. And they can play. Offsides has really good there. Did you hit the so-called rookie wall. We hear about all the time. Some guys seem to jump over other guys really hit did you. Did you experience that at all. Yeah i think there is a stretching at twenty three games a lot of plan or somewhere like those are the numbers holy tough and he wasn't playing the dj wall either. No i was locker. I'm not saying anything wrestling. Knowledge is doc you said utah talked to cbs' did tapes call ya. I texted a taser. A little bit. Hugh supposed to call me and then you just never called me back all. I'll get back to you when you get when you get the night before the gold medal game. Because that's gonna make an entire teammate team. Canada captain under skin chaser teaser. Taxman he's busy. He's always doing some training off. Four returning players have stepped up to talk about what the experience was like last year winning gold team and has that has taken a little bit of pressure off you as well like maybe not knowing some of these guys and being named captain. Yeah those guys obviously know what the tournament takes to win I mean i lean on cousin and bull quite a bit on the grew up playing at each other. They're both the assistant captains for a reason. So those guys are buddies of mine and we have a lot of fun off. The is We're i think we're all just looking forward to start playing games again. I mean for some of these guys. I mean the guys have been playing the queue or myself having played a game since last march. Every little antsy to get going we ever captain Before at any level Yeah i split captaincy duties at Sixteen team berta or not played for that. But other than that i would never been a captain. Always been kind of an assistant captain. I'm interested While your team first off what is it. Twenty first rounders busy said the number earlier. Yeah yeah either way. Just insane group town put together a defense guy or an offensive defence. Guide this bone byrom for hockey fans out there. Maybe not Holler avalanche fans. Just another freak on d. Coming into your into your denver Homes soon so. I just wanted to describe him. A little. Bit described boza fourth forward. He with the party's eastbound to play with with always puts on your tape and On the parkway so patient with the puck up top and always seems to make the right play but at the same time. he's really gonna diesels. Got a good stick and he's really starting to shout and be a become a hassle in in the corners to deal with Something that he learned going back to colorado for the bubble experience to was just hired as the play at that level against those big guys and obviously he's got mckinnon discography into the practice against sure. That's no fun but He's taking a lot of strides. I think he'll he'll be a really good player for a long time. Who's teams canada's gesture. Who's the guy absolute clown locker room. Talk it and doing the man giant getting the boys gone before the gains candle needs to know who's doing all that and getting callous juju going We've got a couple of guys i ball. I'd say it was one of them he is. He's pretty funny Goalie taylor goce. He's he's actually. I'd say he's number one for two from calgary alberta always in good well it must be a lot of westerners in On this team this year. I haven't even looked at how many guys from the cube you know as it gets two world. Juniors they need the toughness from west right. Yeah i think we have. Nine guys here from the western. During the most we've ever had seen. It must be different than the other bubble guys will pretty. Much buckled the first two weeks of the nhl buckle bubble. This little bit different this time but so went went you interact with the other like other teams that you have to stay in your room the whole time. How played cards with each other. I know that's not talking any other guys on the other teams. Yeah what kind of said we're not really allowed to talk to anybody else inside their own team. But i think after the first week or so. There's going to kind of loosen up on the Let us from a little bit. More than an ounce lockdown which will be nice. Is there been anything that you've thought of to keep yourself entertain. That'd be outside the box that people will.

"After drinking with biz twenty. I don't the gave did say what happened already. Put his hand down. Knocked his His mic out so he can say anything. That was funny. The guy who owns the company known as wasted the detox. You just went on that dragons debt which is a shark tank of gala. He did pretty good. Had one of the judges a complete dickhead. Anyone invest yeah yeah invested. So they're they're working out a deal in what she can do for the company behind the scenes. That's all this one guy was absolutely grilling him. So it was pretty funny. He's like mr wonderful of the states. You ever watch shark tank. Mr wonderful kevin o'leary isn't it. Yeah he grills people. He's he's kind of prick. I think on there yeah. I think he's from canada actually. So he's on. He's on both of them. He was so good on the road. Yeah the dragons den and the dragons den version. I believe was created by brad. Tree-living father who's who's jammed the calorie volumes. Jim tree levin he. I think he's a fucking billionaire dude. He's traded boston. Pete's is created all the like these crazy things. And i think it was originally his concept in because it was so successful with larry who i'm sure they met and cross paths. Jim tree living like this guy is an absolute character. I've heard stories of this guy going all night and then doing one of those calls in the morning like no underwear on just a shirt and tie for the zoom call on my wonderful all. Yeah i heard he cranks it so hopefully. I'm not spreading rumors here. But if i am who gives a shit. Johnny draw the flyers. That room was started. Second after you get drafted. I think here we get another big drop coming this week. Grenell e-right new sandbag is this. I'm i'm hearing whispers. This is the all time best sandbag river is that true wit and biz talk about it. I think it's the best sandbags pretty long and hard on. Its hands and hazy. All say i we help with the editing process. Show to to chase in pasha who were able to get it to a point where we kind of just chime in a little bit but the first time around like the first fifteen minutes. I didn't stop laughing because yan's in. Hey is an absolute theropod. There're communist show keith keith. Line on the first tee muttered under breath involving a lighthouse is all say. It's you're going to see the humor that we see. You know away from the interviews with keith. You'll see when we do it with with chocolates and him getting involved but he's even better when it's like you know no cameras on a low. There was cameras on but in that setting. It's so different. You know what. I mean biz. Just feel like you're just you're with your buddy him and hazier clowns and i think everyone's going to enjoy it. I'll be on the live chat eight pm on our youtube channel. That drops on tuesday. So this is comes out. He's comes on tuesday morning. I don't know how many people listening to you it's tuesday everyone's it's tuesday right now. All right but but not. Every listener gets listen. The first day as what. I'm saying so. All the ones who are is head there for eight pm to or youtube channel for a live viewing that means we drop it on the spot. And then what's going to be in the chat. It's it's probably like the coolest thing last time we had six thousand people watch the launch. So there's a lot of you know. There's a lot of electricity. let's get ten thousand with. He does that con current or something. Concurrence concurrent viewers ten thousand watts. And there's like golf videos from golf. Podcast get released. Were crushing them. We're hockey podcasts. It's unbelievable and the other thing is to before the show will start for two minutes. They play the best song i've ever heard. It's chillers beat the final. What is it two minutes. Only minute and a half. Yeah two minutes before. I want us to play that song in that video for on the big booty mix. It shouldn't be your about the big number as coming up here. With with kirby doc who thick with three cs. They got the booty coaches with the band. They're doing the the sidney crosby leg ass workouts. Anyway we'll get into that later. With kirby doc but this this ccm sandbag which is brought to you by cross country mortgage guys. Let's get ten thousand. Concurrent will see their. Let's have some fun. Bring a glass of pink. Whitney and get ready to fucking laugh from hazy in the ans- absolutely i'm looking forward to seeing myself. When i know another thing. You wanna talk about regard. The new season was this taxi. Man squad they're going to have a four to six men. Taxi squad teams can carry up to twenty nine players. Max travel and practice with the team. They'll get paid a full. Ahl salary the cbi has been expanded to include for more recalls. But it's going to be interesting. I mean like. I think it was frank. Seravalli brought up the point. Toronto can just only keep twenty one guys on the roster. And that's one way to kind of i don't know not subvert the salary cap that sounds kind of bad but like j. Play by the rules. And if you can have guys you know kind of in wait not on your captain then take advantage of it. Right does like we're carrying the league here. We're helping you guys out. I don't know if you guys saw the last valuation. Okay we're kind of at the top tier so make sure we could slide under the cap number or it could be the analytics genius was kyle do business. And he could be just doing his thing and he knew it was coming into force. He saw that. What's it called foresight. He had the foresight skin site for the foreskin the fours and so the taxi squad is interesting because i talked to an agent who mentioned like the inbetween guys where you know you have a two way contract and you make it probably decent money in the nhl. Because you know the guys. i'm talking about. They're gonna probably get put on this taxi squad and realistically get paid their h. I'll salary to get bags skated for the whole season. They'll in here and there but they'd be playing in the minors. If this taxi squad wasn't available some of them at least saw guys like that. It's kind of a tough. I don't know what's going to happen. I don't know if there's opt-out opt-in lower the nfl. did it. i don't. I actually don't know all that stuff been settled. I don't know if that's even been announced..

"Ad the sustainable beef one another one we did in figure it out when we were high and shadow to jeff in posher who helped me on that one. In speaking of jeff his his smokey robinson sending ended up getting all the way to snl. They didn't have dinner s. and l.'s. Skit about it. So he's been all over the place really at a cameo request. Turn into an snl sketches crazy thinking of you studying like i just pictured to pit bulls like barking at each other trying to get. There's zero calmness zero being remembered you studying for a podcast cracks me up. I'm like where do i store it a high guy the width dog on. What's going on what's going on. It's great to be here lot. Lot of stuff's been happening in my life. I'm an enormous soccer fan now. We'll get into that later. I'm a chelsea team. Chelsea team is my team. I should say we'll go into that later. Hockey's back like you said already that fires me up. We have some serious issues within the divisions because some very easy summer very hard. Some teams got lucky. Some teams may have been fucked. What else brunelli. You mentioned christmas. Yeah christmas is going to be awesome. Low key this year. Everyone knows you can't really be hanging around with other people. You gotta keep things you know small quiet so we're going to be doing that and we'll just be hanging and all of a sudden christmas movies. I'm enjoying again. You know my son's into him watching. Charlie brown christmas five hundred times maybe three hundred and first time. It started getting a little annoying. But i'm still all in. We watch maybe seven hundred fifty. I gotta tell them the twenty six bud. Christmas is over. No more charlie brown. But i'm great. And like i said our did i meant to say it's nice being once a week right now. I am fired up every time we record. I want to ask the movie guy. What's the most underrated christmas. Movie of all time ouray underrated. I feel like every christmas movie is probably even overrated at. This point is bad. Santa santa's not underrated. It's my favorite santa. I think because it's so profane. It might get overlooked a little bit. But i say bad santa. I don't think that gets brought up enough in christmas movie discussions. Who's the guy. Billy billy bob on. Yeah bring black midget talks. He's he's ballots coming back. It would just such absolute fucking scumbags but they just run into biggest gun bags in them. So i put it. That are good answer when it's funny. You mentioned christmas movies. Well when we last recorded last monday. I had to take off because i told you guys. They had a party. I had to go revisited friend. The stanley cup. I was fortunate to get invited to the cop. Potty coincidentally with di system coach. Dark alon was at an irish by in tampa which ironically was closing. They actually kept it open for a couple extra nights so the last night would be with the stanley cup and i was honored enough to be invited to. It was actually pretty cool. It's his old irish by not vs in there that the own gave a big speech to say how special it was the closed the place with the stanley cup they're Hang out my pal derek. I haven't seen in twenty two years in business. you know. i got introduced. A coup head. Coach john copa. And i know you say this guy's in absolute beauty. He didn't give me. That is awesome and shaken walkaway. We sat down. We talked for an hour an hour and twenty minutes. He faced time biz. But we were talking about christmas. Movies went and he said me and my kids. The other night we sat down we watched. national lampoon vacation and then christmas vacation and like those are the best family movies. I mean when you got little ones now like even vacation the first nissim pots kind of the eighties. But you can still sit there and watch what your family any families. Take a road trip like this. There's always some the started. Hanging out with kumail was awesome. He's such a great guy. Man was great obviously to see the cop again with social distance and covert. You couldn't be free in footloose with it. Say the last time ipod with it. But i know lines out of the guy just keeping social media. He wasn't allowed to put any hallucinogens in the bowl this year. What do you know tough. Covert hitman socks. Did you get facetime from coupe. Quit i did not coupo- number two biz. Yeah he's probably been their business. Probably that's biz study. And he calls cooped ass. What breakout lightning using still forgets. So yeah it was a good night and if you think junk a good guy from watch him he really is man. We shot the shift while had a had a great time. Shooting the breeze We should mention. I guess too because i did say the world junior starting up christmas day. We have james duffy from tsn. He's an expert in that field also great interview. We're going to bring him on a little later. We get team. Canada cabinet chicago blackhawks. Kirby doc on his second appearance not even twenty years old yet already making a second appearance on. That's we got him from the bubble. Tell us what he's thinking going. It's the junior so we got some good shit common. But i always the twenty twenty one season ago. Nhl pa and the gel reached an agreement over the weekend. What a governors approved. That sunday we're going to have a fifty. Six game. Season puck dropped january thirteenth regular seasons going to end may eighth last possible. Update july fifteenth Trade deadline april twelfth. Whole bunch of dates drawn out. There is gonna be four divisions re re whatever realign this year each division is going to have four teams in the playoffs so this is like the nineteen eighties. All over again. you're gonna have to fight your way out of division but what's crazy. You know what was saying. Each team will three the divisions have to play on. It's fucking eight times you're not playing outside of division. Then you play in the playoffs. I mean these guys are going to hate each other. So fuck much biz by halfway through the season. It's like put them in the coliseum. And i love every aspect of it. I think it's like you said it's a man's game at this point. Get your way out of your division and then you could fight for the cop. I like it for one year. I could understand some people's complaints but the only question i had around the division alignment in that may have already been answered due to like a covert situation but why why did dallas not make it to the central. They didn't really give good explanation because a lot of people figure either. Minnesota saint louis because geographically. Those cities are actually further further east dallas. But they didn't really give an explanation on that. I don't know if that's like owner. Sway comes all shoes. Me hasn't heard we haven't heard mentally wise in dallas in the west as opposed to saint. Louis 'cause i messed that up so right now. Dallas is in the western division. When it wouldn't it make more sense for saint. Louis no doubt dallas into central. It's away i was right. I had ninety and work study and work. That's why i had it right. Originally that i look at my notes and i got the other way fucking serious. The letters are backwards. I wrote i wrote divisions had they said why dallas is in the west instead of saint. Louis that this guy right let him watch what i wrote down like scratching his head with one hand and fucking caveman. Jesus cry durga through my online. Okay okay guy curious. Have we heard what owners publicly didn't like the original division lineups. Is that all kind of just hear. Somebody's complaining but you don't know who basically that. Yeah you kind goes on record you kind of have scuttle butt so and so's pissed off and i think the reason would be dallas is also considered a southern city even though it's further west so i think by lumping them with tampa nashville florida off. It's almost more of almost were of a southeast assault conference so i think that's very the justification for us so one of the justifications i said was to create better rivalries but then i was like oh man like saint louis in chicago. In saint louis nashville. They got that rivalry going. But what you're saying is is maybe just think forward thinking as far as like bring back the rivalry of the stanley cup finals. Because they're going to be playing right arm. I mean i think i just kind of gone with geography hair and someone has to get fucked..

"You earn power because you're showing that you're responsible and capable of that and I think that's a lesson for for parents as well. It's a hard one that certainly it's not easy to just everyday. Wake up and go okay I'm only going to focus on the things that can control and I'm going to stay calm today. Obviously but that's one tip. It definitely really helps me when I'm to keep that focus while you know the other thing that we find is. We are rarely ever present to the conditions. Right were rarely. Here now with what is happening and you know it's so interesting being able to go back into this again in watch little man grow up right in this little amazing rad human being running around. You know he's not forecasting things. He's not thinking about I. GonNa, have playtime this afternoon or was gonna be, or you know what I mean he's. He has no forward. Look, it's all right now. and His parents were leaders. We get locked into future casting. We just get stuck there and it's always trying to get somewhere always trying to go to the next thing or you know. What do I need to prepare for any to make sure lunch and set up. A need is always coordination in preparation for something to happen, and rarely do we give ourselves the opportunity to enjoy the moment or be present with what's going on at be connected to what's actually happening and you know we get stuck way out, and so I feel like you know nats true listen, I would have not been successful. There are times I probably wouldn't be alive. If I had not had the ability or something or someone bringing me back to what is actually happening right now and. For my world, there is so much freedom in that space when you can actually just calm down and be like where you are with who you are in that moment. There's like Oh. Wow, and just all kinds of new stuff arises. That's where you get to be comfortable. That's where you get to be confident. That's where you get to be creative. 'cause you're actually in it with the people around you especially your kids, and I do think that's a disservice that we create in our children. Is this future stuff? If always jamming forward? If you're always planning prepping and got to be this and got to be that, that's what they that's what they know. That's what they grow up with, and so they grow up worrying about like what's next door later this afternoon or scheduling? This or that I'm not saying you know. Don't be coordinated. You know, get not be coordinated again. Not playing, but being responsible for our own connection to the present moment I think is. A game changer for a lot of us. I absolutely agree and it surprises me. Sometimes finger pointing at myself as well, but as adults even how hard it is a lot of people just to be to. Be Quiet and you know there's all these great books in quotes from all of these loss aversion stoic about how that's. One of our great works of life is to learn to be just still and how there's a book called stone is the key, and just I feel like that's a lost skill in today's world. Because there's constant stimulation, there's always the next thing going on, and and perhaps recent events have actually been a great teacher of this is when all that's taken. We have to just focus on what is and just learn to be and to be present, and how hard that's been for some of US me included. Yeah, we don't like to be with ourselves. We don't like to be quiet. Because then it starts this uncomfortable feeling of of you know. Why should be doing something or you know what I to be doing right now or We're just we're just. We re working up society and culture a life now. That has become about what we're doing next. Not What we're doing now. Listen I the opportunity to train some amazing people and develop some amazing people who were doing things while you can even pay me. You know a billion dollars to go to a year like I. Know, thank you and the only way they're ever. Successful is when they understand how to be there in that moment in their. It you're thinking about you. Know what I'm GonNa work this guy. Wouldn't what intelligence negative from houses? There's time and place to do all that, but then when you when you step into the world when you release into the day, you know when you start. Getting breakfast together for the kids and the day has started Dach- your time to be hyper present, you know. We used to have the running joke in the military, which was not the plan never survives first contact with the enemy. You know you can get up in the morning. Here's the day this is what we're GonNa do and then I wake the kids up and plans plans shot right jabs framework top right under. You got to be flexible at A. And it's not just all this is why love it right? This is why I love kind of normalizing this idea of life in the extremes and normal life right because there's so many similar patterns to it. There's not like a kind of said at the beginning of there's not a judgment back and forth not like Oh. Well I have it easier than they do or I'm just. You know a stay at home? No, sorry take that of your language, completely you know all of those things come into play because. And Life can be stressful in any context in any moment in any situation, and you know the tools and techniques and the way we look at it. It's all the same at the end of the day. It's all the same. Agree and I think to another parenting point. That probably has a strong tie in here. So I love the creativity, one of those core things, and as appear, and it's always been like top of mind thing for me is. How can I foster that in my kids because I what I realized both from my own life, and now working with all of my kids is, you can't really train creativity, nor can you structure creativity? Obviously, if anything boredom seems to be the best teacher of creativity, but so many kids today don't get the opportunity to be. Be Bored. They don't get the downtime. Because there is constant stimulation and the constant desire to learn more and be better and extracurriculars, and so much on their plate, so young so I'm curious both what you've seen in re if there's any research on this, and then how you navigate it as a parent of helping to foster creativity with kids, if you let them be bored on purpose or how that works, yeah, I think you know it goes to the. Draw some similarities here right so if I have a leader in my environment. That's always telling us what to do how to do it. How to get things done the Inaugu back to my days in the fire service. I would tell people listen if you're driving the truck for instance. Have a pretty critical role and one of those roles is to get a ladder to the second floor, because if I'm kicking the crew inside. I need to be able to exit the building. Right if it's on fire, we have a problem I gotta get out. And, you know in the driver outside being alone kind of outs outside space, there are controlling the extra environment. And the latter's are not light. They're not easy to manage. They can be cumbersome and then given situation in the slope and everything else, and I would just tell my guys to listen. Don't my people. It doesn't matter what it looks like I just need it done..

"It. Was the original dream come true. Know I had taken some time away. I had taken space. For Myself. Creatively to figure out who I wanted to be and what I wanted to say, In the world and chose myself. And I chose myself at a time when it wasn't popular to shoot. The person that I am? You know. I always say it's easy to be who you are. What you are is what popular. Who I am was not popular. You know to choose myself at the time that I chose myself met bankruptcy. Unemployment. Being dismissed being ignored. Not Having work? For. A decade? Or more like it wasn't like. A couple of months or a couple of years, it was a very long time. that. I sat on the cliff of obscurity wondering. If I would ever be able if I would ever be able to. Come back if I ever have. The life that I had dreams for myself so. When kinky boots came around, it was like. That's the role. Dach- role. That! is at the end of this the light at the end of this darkness. This tunnel that I've been in. I chose myself and now I get to play this part. Where this human being in this in this play chooses himself as well slash herself. You know it's like. I lived it, so I could be. When you had a very powerful person in front of you, that was a decision maker in the process of all Dach-, what you wasted on first of all your shitting over the fact that I got the message turned off the annoying message. That's a big deal. Second of all I gave him like ten suggestions scary. It wasn't just those two. I gave him a list of them. I rattled off a whole bunch of stuff. I thought would be would be would be more helpful. Inconsequential I just I just think this is completely taking. Your your your your analogy that well, if it was a problem with, fix it sooner, that doesn't make any sense. Problems don't get fixed points in out caused seatbelts for four. I'm trying know what does that mean? We didn't need seatbelts because no one noticed. That's another terrible analogy. What's this is you're talking about? You're talking about a phone you talking about a phone which has been in existence and has had so many iterations of all word iteration..

"Is the lightning radio leading radio four walls along with getting you set for the lightning at Blackhawks coming up in about twenty minutes or so now Chicago enters tonight's game with sixty two points are currently eight points out of the last playoff spot in the west end their most recent loss was a six five defeat to the blues on Tuesday it was disappointed from the standpoint they squandered a three for four nine on the power play another power play it's been an issue this year so that was a wasted effort for sure and the loss was also disappointed because the hawks have really struggled winning on the road in fact they've lost seven road games this month four of those road losses were by goal but Chicago is at the stage where they're trying to develop young talent to complement Patrick Kane and Jonathan Davis and two guys have stood out in some respects court Kirby dach and Donna Bali that volley is their third leading scorer with forty points including twenty six goals of Dhaka's twenty points through fifty seven games please just nineteen and those two guys along with Alex DeBrincat Dylan Strome and Brandon Saad are nice pieces offensively for Chicago but they're running into the problem of having a few guys take up a ton of their cap that means they need to get younger players on entry level contracts outperforming what they're making now John dates from the daily Herald Herald said on my show earlier today a leading power play live it he's not sure what the plan is for Chicago before hello right now all that's left these are just character there are five her team they were last year there are this year and I don't know what their plan is to be honest with you Greg it's gonna be an interesting next couple seasons but they keep thinking they're gonna be a playoff team member and they don't get to work they don't get there so they just kind of stuck in the arteries yeah and that's really where you don't want to be in today's parity driven league I mean if you're really bad at least you can get high draft picks and rebuild through the draft you know when you're in that stage of just being mediocre it's tough to really find impact guys although don't tell that to the lady because they certainly have done it I guess what I'm saying is it makes it harder when you're just in the middle of the pack in Chicago I think it's one of those teams again they're dealing with some big contracts the guys who you know what to say they're past their primes but a couple of them may be and now they have to find guys who are on entry level contracts to help them get over the hump of going from maybe being a mediocre team to a playoff team I think that's the position they're in right now they also for Crawford who's part of the core group of players that have won three Stanley cups but he struggled this year and robin letter who was there back up he was shipped out of the trade deadline to Vegas ed that was a tough move if you read some papers in Chicago for many players in the locker room they felt like letter was someone they could win with moving forward now they did get Malcolm Sudan from Vegas in that trade in addition to a defensive prospect and a second round pick and maybe the hope is letter signs resides in the off season and there's a chance but you know questions do remain when it comes to the Blackhawks goaltending situation what was interesting to Jon Cooper was asked about the black box recent struggles of not making the playoffs and does that put more urgency on it seems like the lightning to win now I don't know I can't speak for Chicago with the they've done a lot of winning a lot of people would trade a winning season with no cops with the cops they they have it's a hoax Plame leak it's when you when you have a chance to win you know you gotta go for it I think we've been fortunate situations that we haven't you'll we've been to one Cup final but we made the playoffs every year but we've even given a chance to win and I think that's the one thing about when you when cops there is probably a high price to pay at the end and and the Blackhawks of maybe had to pay that price a little bit but the bottom line is that.

What to make of Blackhawks moves on NHL trade deadline day

"And talk a little bit more about what the Blackhawks did we bring in Charlie a room only autos from Anna corona hotline from N. B. C. sports Chicago Charlie how are you tonight Fred you nailed my last name they're not a lot of people can do that on the first try well I've been I've said it three times during the show so I try to get it right it is actually the more you look at it the more it is exactly like it's spelled sell it all but that is I'm I'm sure I'm sure you've got a letter from cap though well yeah well I in everything we've all got lessons from cap have only let's be honest yeah yeah we generally did did the Blackhawks get get done what they wanted to do today I think the goal and Stan Bowman even said this in a conference call it should basically recruit some of those graphics that they gave up for the end you're salty on it and try to get a you know they got a goal tender in return in a defenseman prospect but I think if you put them on a lie detector test or some truth serum okay perfect probably would have loved to get a first round pick out of out of today is that the reality is the market wasn't really to their favorite like six six first round picks removed in the month of February and neither one of those picks removed for rental so the Blackhawks moved to other youth expiring USA then they got a second round pick in the end plus prospects and then a third round pick forgot to send in a little bit underwhelming but you know that's what the market dictated it's interesting you bring that up Charlie because I guess the question at this point that is do you think the hawks waited too long in determining whether or not they were to sell it because obviously they had a little run there you know in the end of the at the end of December and January what it felt like they were getting hot do you think they maybe put too much stock in the fact that they were playing well but you know at the same time they they were still on the outside looking in it when when you're finally you know got around to the trade deadline here yeah it it's a good point and you wonder if the the blackouts could have gotten more for robin Lehner if they had treated him earlier but at the same time went when they come out of that bye week and they come out with a big win against Arizona like if they had it really had quite off type vibes where this team was close to knocking on the door and then you go on that five game western Canada trip and if you take care of business there like you're you're probably gonna be about a playoff spot if you pick up six seven point six or eight points on that trip and and that the fact they only picked up a few things started to spiral then obviously the we saw a lot of trade happened last week where a lot of defenseman got moved in and you wondered if the Blackhawks were gonna pull the trigger on America if it's been deleted get out in front of that but they stayed patient and I don't know if they were trying to package and Eric Gustafson with another asset like a robin letter to try all the packaging of the return and try to get that first round pick that they're covering but unfortunately they weren't able to make it happen Charlie you mentioned letter there and I think a lot of hawks fans are wondering he he will reportedly he was willing to consider a three year deal with the hawks now you know I don't know if we've seen confirmation of that report but it's out there that robin Lehner was willing to potentially talk a three year deal with the hawks do you think that something that was truly in their interest or do you think they just don't want to be locked up long term with robin Lehner due to maybe a quirky history to say the least well I I'm not sure about it because robin Lehner is on record saying that he didn't want to take a discount like you felt like you wanted to be paid market value and and he deserves that what whatever he was asking for he deserves what he wants and if the Blackhawks were gonna offer him he offered what he wanted like he had every right to take it to and and has every right to take it to the summer and get exactly what he's looking for the the fact that if you know the Hawkins did offer a three year deal letter would have been willing to take lasted it do a three year deal I feel like the team would have pulled the trigger on it because I I don't know necessarily if they were looking to try a lot of money and term to to robin letter because that's just not exactly how they operate in it we see all around the NHL now teams are very reluctant to give big contracts to goaltender than in the Florida Panthers are seeing it right now they they find Sir David Gonski two an eight year contract worth ten point five million dollars and he has been performing this season so I think maybe that's also what is scaring off the hawks and wanted to have that type of security with the goaltender another couple minutes where's Charlie Roumeliotis from the Blackhawks insider at NBC sports Chicago the guys they get back for a for a letter is is that yes they need to get some names back or is to Bangor to be their back up for the rest of the season or what you know what's going on yeah I imagine so I read in Markham Sudan will be the Blackhawks is back up you know barring any injuries and I know the Blackhawks do have calling deleon Kevin Lincoln in downtown Rockford who have both been playing really well like Kevin like that had a really good start to the season that now his play has tailed off Collin Delia really struggled at the beginning of the year and now he's been really good so if you have two young goaltenders in Rockford but I imagine now comes through and it's probably gonna be grooms here said to either be the backup going forward at least for the rest of the season and then we'll see beyond this year Charlie do you think a Jonathan Tay's will finish his career with the Blackhawks there's been rumblings are speculation mostly from fans that you know he could be somebody down the line the hawks might consider moving if they they were able to get a hall for him but to me Jonathan tapes just seems like the type of player who gently down the Blackhawks want retiring in a Blackhawks Jersey yes absolutely and I I don't blame Patrick Kane Jonathan three Duncan Keith those core players I don't blame them for being frustrated like they want to win in Chicago but the the problem is if they don't want to go somewhere else to win another ring like their soul that and they have no movement clauses in their contracts read that they want to spend the rest of your career here in Chicago and they want to win the Stanley Cup again in Chicago so I don't see that it man it would be if thirteen is out of date senior retired Black Hawk that it wouldn't feel right if they if they went somewhere else Charlie one last quick one for you what is the biggest need for the hawks this offseason to try and get them back on track and into the playoff conversation next year yes hi it's tough because you kind of want to see how this you know they've been battered by injuries particularly that of the blue line with Calvin Han and Brent Seabrook and then Andrew Shaw you know I would I would sail and it is those guys need to get healthy first and then you want to see how your developments are going with Adam vocalist and Kirby dach but to me ideally like you need you need another top six winger like you need another top six four they have Jonathan Tate and Kirby docking Dylan Strome and and obviously Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat but they don't have really that photo type scoring winger that can help balance out the lines and I'm not saying that the Blackhawks have it all made on their depth on their defensive group because they tell but you look at the reality is they have five guys under contract for at least the next two seasons after that and that's not even including Adam vocalist and potentially Ian Mitchell so I want to say a top four defenseman but it just didn't seem feasible because all the they have all these guys tied up Charlie I know it's been a long day we appreciate jump around for a few minutes no problem guys thanks for having me

The Greedy Dog

"Greedy dog once upon a time there was a greedy old dog named Bailey. Every bite of food every scrap of snack every bit of bone. He got he guarded jealously he'd bark if they looked growl if they came near and bite if the barking and growling didn't work he lived in a busy town and his owner was a butcher so he never lacked for good chunky bones to chew every morning he got a fresh one and he'd spend his day eating the meat and marrow until the sun set behind the trees. You'd think with such easy access to bones. Bailey would be generous but unfortunately it was actually exactly the opposite. The greedy old dog never shared not even once he would take days bone from his master along with a few heads scratches and then go into the alley behind the shop and Choo Choo Choo. It was a fat and lazy life which suited the old dog just fine until it didn't. It was a day like any other. Bailey had gotten his beef bone from the butcher and brought it out back to eat however he only got a few Thompson before. A stray cat happened by. She was tatty and orange with wild whiskers and zigzagging white stripes. She had a ball of yarn in one PA that she was carelessly batting back and forth. Bailey immediately started to bark but the cat jumped up on top of a chain link fence where she was well out of the dog's reach and knew it. Hello dog she purred easy with all that barking. Mister Tough Guy. She prowled closer one shaggy paw at a time. Yarn Ball stringing behind her. Tell me what is it that you have there? You'll better keep on walking sister. Bailey growled cradling. The meaty bone protectively between his paws. This is my bone. I don't share. The cat crept closer walking gracefully along the Metal Tube. That topped the fence. She sniffed the beefy bone on the air and her wild whiskers twitched and bounced suppose instead it was hours. She said licking her lips. Her tail swayed and curled behind her. Like a Fuzzy Orange Pendulum. Keeping a hungry time. I've seen you out here with bones before surely you could share a little. No never not ever. Bailey growled Max my bone and I need it all. Go Chew Your Yarn. Oh surely you could spare just a bit. She said it's been a few days since I've had a good meal. She arched her back and sure enough under all that tatty orange for she did look rather skinny. That didn't overly worry Bailey. Though as far as he was concerned that was her problem. His problem was finding a place to enjoy his treat without being bothered with a final withering. Bark Bailey picked up the bone and marched out of the alley. He marched down the street and he marched through a parking lot and finally found a quiet place in a vacant lot. Surrounded by plywood fencing. The grass was long and soft and full of bugs. But that suited Bailey just fine. Finally I can eat my bone in peace. He said and began to GNAW. There were a few minutes of gnawing just some real good quality gnaws but before too long the greedy old dog found himself interrupted again. Why am I stars and Garters? Is that an old bowl. I smell my fine sir. Came a voice from a nearby garbage. Can Bailey started barking until tubby raccoon hopped out of the can and scampered up onto a nearby dumpster? His body was all heavy roles and bright. Eager is now now now. My good man he said no need for all the commotion high was merely enquiring. As to whether you'd be interested in sharing that big media bone with a fellow enthusiast merits my boat and I don't share Bailey growled. Now you keep on moving you shonky. Trash Panda. The raccoon put a finally fingered hand to his chest. Trash panda good sir. I'm sure you know that is a mortal insult Mike Kind. Surely you must have misspoken. Surely you our garbage in your ears. The greedy dog wolfed by said what I said. And you're lucky. I can't climb up that dumpster or I give you what trump. Bailey stood taking the bone in his mouth and stocking away. Why would no one leave him alone? All he wanted to do was chew is beef bone in peace. Apparently that was too much to ask for. Though he marched out of the vacant lot and marched through a pleasant park. He marched right up to a quiet little pond where he finally found a peaceful spot by the Water. No more interruptions. He said it's time to eat. He began to chew happily gnawing the bone with abandoned but before too long the greedy old dog found himself interrupted once again. Wow what a treat tame a plucky voice usually we only get stale bread around here to exasperated to even Bark Bailey. Turn to look at his latest interruption. It was a Chubby duck floating on the water nearby. She had a playful smile on her beak and feather that stood straight up at the back of her head making her look just a little silly. This isn't a treat for you. Bailey growled it's my bone man. I don't share. Are you sure? The Duck said her feathers fluffing. I could trade you some stale bread. Who or some stale bread. And if I look around I bet I could even find some stale Brad. Bailey just looked at her eyes narrowed not into stale bread. The Duck said. Let's okay Let me think I have something else. Oh Oh what about some Stale Bread Bailey side? This place wasn't going to work either. He thought briefly about splashing into the water to chase the duck but he'd never been much of a swimmer and it just didn't seem worth the effort instead. He picked up his bone and marched away further into the Little Park. He didn't make it far this time as he was crossing a footbridge over the pond. He caught sight of another dog. It came out of nowhere. Big and shaggy. It was all of a sudden right in front of him. Of course it must be after his bone enough was enough so then the greedy old dog did what he did. Best he barked. Unfortunately the other dog wasn't a dog at all but Bailey's own reflection in the water and when Bailey barked. He forgot he was holding his bone. Raw No no no. No he cried but it was too late. The bone fell bounced off the edge of the footbridge and splashed into the water. Bailey fell to his belly and pod the pond but it was no good. The water was too deep. He couldn't reach not even when he stretched as far as he could. Oh have a little accident. I've had accidents before one time when I was just a duckling I wet the pond. Ou don't tell anyone though. Bailey groaned that annoying duck was back the duck. Your secret is safe with me. He said watching her float across the peaceful pond. Say Do you think you could dive down and grab that bone for me? I die for still bread all the time. Here I go. Oh wait a minute I asked you to share and you said no and now you want my help. I'm just I'm confused. Yes that is what happened now. Go get my bone and will you share. If I do know love course not. Bailey said offended. She would even ask well. Then why should I help you? Matt Question Took Bailey. By surprise he thought about it for a minute. And then a minute more finally. He decided the duck wasn't really all that big and he could probably share a little more. Okay fine he said if you help me get the bone file. Share it with you. The Duck flapped happily. Oh Great. That sounds even better than stale bread. Here I go. She dove under the water and then came up again. A minute later without the bone. Where is it oh it's too heavy. She said I can't lift it with my beak. If only I had clever hands like the humans. Oh Bailey wind and laid his head on his paws. He thought for a moment and then realized he knew someone with Clever Hans. Wait here he said I'll be right back. Okay I'll wait here. I'll be right back. I'm a dog whistle. The Duck said happily belly wasn't sure that she got it but he didn't want to waste any time. He ran back to the vacant lot and found the raccoon digging through the dumpster. Pay Their Raccoon. Bailey called. I don't suppose you'd come and help me with those clever pause. The raccoon popped out of the dumpster. A banana peel stuck to his forehead. Oh No it's raccoon. He said what happened to trash and the old dog blushed. He had been hoping the raccoon had forgotten about that. Why had he been so rude? What was he thinking? But he knew what he'd been thinking he hadn't wanted to share not a bit not a bite and now he was getting what he deserved. He just hoped it wasn't too late to make amends. I'm I'm sorry Bailey. Said my shouldn't have called you Dach- I was greedy and I was rude. The truth is I lost my bone in the pond and I need help getting it out. Oh so you come crawling back to me said the Raccoon. Lacing his clever hands over his tubby belly well old. I don't see why should bother myself with your affairs. Now if you helped me all share the bone daily said you can split it with me and the duck. He quickly told the story of the duck and the water and the beak. That couldn't quite lift the bone as he told it he found himself laughing little. The duck had a certain charm and he thought maybe he wouldn't mind sharing quite so much as he thought. Oh a morose tail indeed. My good man said the raccoon. I'd love to help but I'm not much of a swimmer. Self Bailey felt his heart sink but then the raccoons stood tall holding up a finger. But but what? I think I could still help with clever Paul as I can tie a loop and the duck and dive down and wrap it around the bone and then you can pull it out of the water. That's actually brilliant. Bailey said impressed. Oh but I don't have any string do you? No I'm afraid not my good sir. The Raccoon said sadly I guess the bone is lost to us forever? Well said the dog. Maybe not meet me at the pond. I think I know where to get some string. The raccoon pat it off to the pond and the dog went back to the alley behind the butcher shop. Hello he called when he arrived cat. Are you still here? Silent as a shadow the tatty orange cat appeared on top of a nearby awning. She watched him suspiciously batting the ball of yarn back and forth between her paws. What is it? Are you trying to tease me with your bone? More she purred listen. Bailey said finding that apologizing wasn't so hard once you got into it. I'm sorry for how I acted earlier. I was greedy. I was so so greedy. The truth is I've had a tough afternoon. I lost my bone in the pond but then I made friends with a duck who loves stale bread and I think with a raccoon to even though I called him a trash. Panda Okay we have a plan but we need your help. He explained about the duck in the raccoon and the pond and the string. And why should I help you? The cat asked flexing her claws. Joss because you apologized because you can share the bone with US Bailey said and then he went on inspired by notch us this bone by a newborn every day. And I'M GONNA start sharing with all my friends. You you WANNA be my friend. I was greedy and it cost me. He said my idol. Learn the hard way that driving. Everyone away means you don't have to share but it also means you're all alone by a one that I I'm sorry if you can forgive me. I'd like to be your friend even if I don't let you use my string Bailey. Thought for a moment. Did he just want to be friends for the string? With a surprise he realized that no he wanted to be friends for more than that running around making a plan and talking to these other animals weird as they might be was the most fun he'd had in years. Why don't deserve the strings? So I understand if you don't WANNA share it either way. I'd still like to be your friend and I'll have a newborn to share tomorrow. Well in that case said the cat leaping off the awning with the ball of yarn. Let's go get that bone. Bailey barked again but this time in excitement they ran back to the pond and found the raccoon and the duck waiting for them. Oh it's our friend the dog and the cat. I

Low Country Showdown: Belgium vs. The Netherlands

"Days in Europe you hardly know when you've crossed the border but when you get to know each region it's clear. Cultural differences are as distinct and strong. As ever. You're it's fascinating that even as your continues to unite. The differences between the various regions remained so strong the historic nucleus of the European Union. Nyon was a trio of little countries known as Benelux Belgium the Netherlands and Luxembourg and it's very small area. It's fascinating in its complexity lexi. We're joined in the studio by a guide from Belgium and another from the Netherlands to explore the cultural differences between their two countries. Allen Yanji is guide in the Netherlands and Hilbert buys is from Brussels where he teaches at the European School of Communication. He teaches history and politics. And he works as a tour guide. Hilburn Hilburn and Ellen. Thanks for joining us now. Ellen you live in the Netherlands and you work as a guide in Amsterdam. What's your family's history are are you like? Have you been the Dutch forever or what yes. I've been Dutch forever but my grandfather was a German so they came over from Germany to the Netherlands and they settled in brabant. John's which is the south of the Netherlands. And it's a province that was divided when the two nations of the Netherlands and Belgium were created. Rob You have. Yes so so. You have north brabant. which is part of the Netherlands and you have south but album which is in Belgium and so you ended up in the Netherlands? Yes yes that. A blessing or a curse Both we'll talk more about that in just a minute. And he'll bring you Belgium your home. And how did you end up there because you sound like you have an American accent to me well yes. My parents are of Dutch extraction in fact but with NATO We ended up in in bracelets right. Grew up and have have managed to stay so you are European. If you're living in Belgium the Edison near you the cut up there and all the EU excitement. Now when you think about the low countries country's once it was all the same wasn't it The low countries the Spanish Netherlands. The Spanish Netherlands were separate from the Dutch republic but before the Spanish Netherlands became Spanish. Yeah we were all part of the Holy Roman Empire and then what happened because to me. It's kind of a cultural divide between Belgium and Holland today. You've got french-speaking speaking while loons and you've got Germanic speaking Dutch you've got Catholics and Protestants. You've got south facing German facing. Is that a cultural. Divide of some sort ellen. It is the language barrier has been there for a thousand years. It's not a part of Belgium. Belgium created as a nation in eighteen. Thirty it was was not that then. The language barrier started to exist is was already there long before tectonic plates coming together right here from Roman Roman speaking tribes heading east and Germanic speaking tribes heading west and so they joined up so you had these language barrier from Roman speaking and Germanic Manic speaking which is more or less where today's language barrier is in Belgium. So we're kind of talking about between the Netherlands and Belgium but also within Belgium. We've got this split with the north being more culturally and linguistically tied with the Netherlands in the south being more connected with France yes because of the language and of course because his French has always been the dominant language throughout the Middle Ages. When you had people who wanted to be anything in life had to be able to speak French and later on it it stayed the dominant language in the industrial era and Flemish was the local dialect so If the man comes into fix your door he's going to speak Flemish but if the the guy who runs the city the unknowns the bank. He's going to speak French. Yeah he'll burn if you WANNA have historically in the in Belgium has set the case if you want your kid to be made to meet a very important person. They should speak French. That isn't true today. No nineteenth century historically Boulogne. Yes polk were loon. The elite of the nation spoke French French because they were of nobility French has have replaced Latin as the dominant language in much of Europe travel. With Rick Steves. We're talking about the cultural differences between the people in Belgium Belgium and the people in the Netherlands. We're joined by Ellen. Yeah I'm saying from the Netherlands and Hilburn buys from Belgium when we think about we've been talking about or the origins of these countries. But we have this situation today where we've got a the Netherlands which is Dutch. Speaking in the northern half of Belgium which is Flanders Flanders. Right Phlegm is that is that the same language. The language is formerly the same in Belgium. When you go to school you go to a class called Dach- the way that in America when you go to school you don't learn American when no one you go to English when no one was called Nederlands? It's called Nigel why don't they just call it Flemish. Just because it's the vendors we share the lexicon. We share the dictionary if you read the dictionary which is produced for the Netherlands and Belgium collectively the only thing. You'll see his annotations in. The definition conditions will see used regionally or applied in Belgium this way and in the Netherlands Hall that way so what are the Flemish speaking people. The Netherlandish speaking people of Belgium. I'm well how do they relate to the to the Dutch. What is the cliches? What are the jokes saw? Well at the well at the Belgian. Talk here for a minute I okay. I'll preface this by saying I studied in the Netherlands Dutch origin. I really don't have to side with any of this. I have a nice anecdote with two friends who met one was Belgian. Elgin and one of them was touched in the Belgian tells the Dutch when he says do you know upon northern border. That's the end of culture to which the Dutchman responded yes that's true but on our our southern border that's the end of intelligence who we go and Ellen. What about you from the Netherlands How did the Dutch the think of the Belgians? Then what's a joke or a little insight into the cultural differences. Well there are many things that we like. And let's say on the plus side. We love the Belgian sense of Huma among which is kind of surreal. Sometimes we don't even understand it. They definitely have a different sense of humor than the Dutch have. And we sort of admire that because it's subjects are very frank and very straightforward very matter of fact. Yes I've got a Dutchman say I've been with him and he says you know it's it's exhausting I to carry on a conversation. Let's just not talk with each other and not be stressed out about it right so the to me. That was so Dutch a Belgian might be a little more no Belgians and more they like to keep themselves to themselves on more modest and you can experience this when you travel there for instance. You're in American and you're in Belgium and you want to ask something I think it's always polite to us. Do Speak English. When you're in Flanders they will say oh I don't know yes maybe a little bit and then you start a conversation and and you find out that the perfectly perfect well with England when you go to the Netherlands and you ask their Excuse me do you speak English. They so yeah. Of course. That's right so there. You have the difference. Like Belgians are more. Yeah more modest landed dot Chamo- assertive assertive described as self effacing using the Belgians are okay. That's that it's very. It's very nice. Also that in Belgium rules are a little bit less importance. Well it's it's more dramatic in the north breath.

Yes we ever experienced guest today which is our Yoga instructor for today. Fascinating fascinating man by the name of John Lyon. He's been a yoga instructor for La Fitness for a while now and as we said before we just got done with this class of first of all. John How did we do in the class. You did fantastic. We all know we probably completed. Yoga is more about the breath in the moving than the actual perfection action to go in there and strive for any type of perfection and oppose is not doing yoga. It's bringing in the stuff that harms so you guys did amazing so just go and flow flow with it and breathe with it and You did great perspective. I've never actually heard it. Put that way and I have to say that is exactly what I took took from your class. It was an hour of just being in the moment truly in the moment and from every whether it was like the anecdotes you told or whatever it was that we were doing it was so everything was just. It was very mindful very peaceful and it all kind of came full circle back to how could relate to everyone personally in their own life and it was a very healing and like spiritual experience it is it is and that's what this episode is about is kind of yoga but also meditation and how they kind of Interchange with with each other and work together But before we get started we have to break the flow of this episode. To remind you. If you're not a subscriber please subscribe to the podcast. Let's get back to the show here so John First of all we WANNA learn a little bit about you your background. What got got you into Yoga because first of all people can't seem well if they see the thumbnail they will? But you probably don't look like the average person you would expect to be doing yoga. I don't yeah so so. What what got you into Yoga My wife is that we we started off two weeks before we went to see a movie and it was on the history of Yoga and it was about two and a half hours and at that point I thought it was about two hours and fifteen minutes too long and it was boring and it was a smoother and There's a lot of Yogis in there and just loved. It was a history of the breathing and the channels in the energy and all these different parts of Yoga and I just sat there and I fell asleep in and a couple of times it was their premier and so we walked out and they had this table tabletop with everybody who had anything to do with anybody who had energy in there. There's a producers the Editors the writers directors anybody who put any type of hands on that film were there and all these women around all these people around and they're all just gushing about it and that's my wife and I are walking out. They asked me what I think about the movie and I go. You don't want to know what I think about that. Other ask one of these other women he goes. Don't what do you think about it. And I told him I said well I go if you ask them to give you my honest opinion I go. I think it's a bunch of hocus pocus mumble bumble bee s and He he he okay. And that's the interesting thing is he just said Okay and and my wife was mad. I mean everybody was looking around like I was like the crazy guy and we walked out and Two weeks later. She asked me if I I wanted to take a yoga class. There's this place down the street that was free. I said if it's free it's for me and I went in there and I took the first class and It was physically challenging changing. But I told my wife before I go weird in there. I'm going to go ahead and just step outside and sit in the car because I don't you don't know what's what you're getting into yoga mystical. So Oh I went through that first class and physically challenged. I went through the second class the next day and Something happened to me and and that was when I was going to sleep I wasn't awake. I wasn't asleep and I just told my wife that you'll free my mind and I denied it at first when she said I go like I said it and that's when I realized that I need to do more of this. So that's what was my first weekend of Yoga is that it just freed. Read my mind after after two places that that was ten years ago ten years ago and it was just just There's a lot of dynamics in my life that we're going on that we're very challenging. I slept like a baby. Go to sleep and I'd be up about every fifteen twenty minutes Kinda you know. Restless solicit everything and that I'd go back to sleep but that piece that I experienced after just the second class was the Besley that I received and so I just found myself wanting to go back more and more and more and just eating more of it and which was really good. Wow that's awesome. That's yeah that's very cool is would you say what would you say is the ultimate ultimate goal of Yoga. Then is it to find that peace is it to heal your body. Is it just to get exercise to what. What is the ultimate goal of Yoga or meditation? General I it can be all of it because Yoga's uh-huh physical practice. There's definitely a physical dynamic that you will tone in sculpture body but there's also the piece component with the breath that you can find and yourself. Pardon me in his place of seated meditation and all Yoga is a moving meditation my perspective because the Word Word Yoga when it comes right down to it it translates into harnish into yoke and that's to connect the breath to the body and Dach- that's where you'll get is and it's been around for six thousand years and in the first but when I started yoga it was there to find seated meditation out that was the ultimate that was the ultimate go when Yoga I started six thousand years plus ago because they were all hunter gatherers they wanted to find a place to come to for stillness us so they practice these poses to find one in their body so they can meditate to their supreme being whatever it was meditation Yoga Alga Right Gateway to to meditate. Okay L. DO Yoga. The Yoga was there to help find and yourself into seat imitation sit comfortably comfortably invitation. Okay and so do you. Do you find that. There's a right or wrong way to practice. Meditating I don't know much about about it I kind of difficult especially in the beginning. So is there any like tips. You have for people who are just starting to meditate trouble either sitting still still clearing their mind or just getting to that seated place that they need to be is very challenging. Because you're confronted with one of the scariest things in life in that stillness. John Lewis our minds our program to constantly go. Go go perfection. The Best Excel. Whether it's at your work whether it's in your life you want to be the best you want to have the best car. She wanted to the best of everything and when you slow down to a place of stillness whether it is two minutes in posher five minutes and seated meditation and beyond it becomes that stillness becomes very very confronting and sometimes the best possible thing you can do for your body. It is absolutely nothing as sitting be still and just focusing on the breath but to get back to your pointing a a right or wrong way. There's no wrong way to meditate. But when you want to you definitely want to do it in seeded comfortable position because if you do it laying down you can fall asleep and your main focus is to focus on the breath right eight to clear your head of all holy thoughts in just to clear the thoughts on you what you WanNa do you find yourself. You want to observe the breath not find it as a focus and let everything pass through the mind all the fluctuations pass through like you're not attached to any of them because when you're sitting in a place of you're focusing on your breath you're thinking of your breath now if you observe the breath and you just let it pass through you with any without any attachment then you can find yourself in a place of meditation. That'll it'll take you further because thoughts always go through your mind when you're meditating. You can't turn off your mind it'll just constantly things will come through that kind of led into the next question of like. How what do you do when you can't stop thinking while you're meditating but I guess it's focus on the breath you just? Yeah the the mind works in a specific way you can only think about one thing at a time. So if you're focused on your breath you're not thinking about yesterday today or tomorrow thinking about. What's on your daily play? You're thinking of the breath fashion. You can kind of use it as technique is just watched the breath come into your nose to the back of your throat and fill up your lungs. And then that'll take you to a place where you you can start to focus on that and then you can get back and used that as technique to just watch the thoughts go

"Disappear because you're all your bookie some money much guys played this weekend but we had a sports rarity included it's only happened let's see happened before two thousand fifteen it only happened fourteen I didn't do a pilot for all sports I put in a bunch of bats lost like ten of them if I had enough of losing I had enough of being a loser at enough going fucking bank and the all cash what what do you think I'm going to write a check to the bookie why Okay generates so how about that Gus fring which is because Wailing Wall so the issue being I said listen enough is enough and I looked at Dallas last street had beers and all of a sudden it's six three wit winds money pot kind and I'm back couple of thousands here and they're not like five take our coat but at least I got something I got a lot of enjoyment out Minnesota's really fucking turning around I think that would have been their fifth win in a row bright people on the way and like it was just a fucking game plink out there but faulk ars in I mean no better guide lead the way then Radulovich got fucking going hatcher pretty sure that's the network and he was saying he doesn't think they have that that type that good of an offense well they hadn't scored fucking five goals in a game all season they ended up doing that third period and I think they while Bishop got pulled last night Ra's favorite backup Khudobin came hey last night they get rolled over by the Rangers and just have looked Oh adversity last year and look what happened and now they're just going through what normal teams configure out at some point here I mean it's like Toronto right now like Toronto backing by the way how good world quotes how toss it over Ra because I'm sure he's they WANNA play like individuals and they wanna go run and gun they can do that or they say it it sounded way different the context matter he started off with the that they didn't know how to play from experience exactly so to read it a kind of looked like oh everything goes on and how you play to become a legit cup contender and not just a regular in twenty five and nine in the calendar year of two thousand nineteen over an eighty is it is this a winning team and then you gotta ask yourself I mean you ended up winning and I mean we talked about the adversity at the beginning of the year could be a good thing for the least when I saw them like when he said him or even when I read it and I was like Oh that's that's a guy who so he's like hey man listen I ended up fucking figuring it out and he's a defensive liability but maybe sheeting to the wrong side of the puck lot and that was like that that stars are feeling comfortable in order to talk like that where over then you won't really hear anyone chirp because he can do whatever the hell he wants with his career Toronto like dog years so three years of listening to media in Toronto ten in DC win I don't think that media and fans understand the impact they have on in had is that okay or would you want to say no I was going to say is his career against the leafs which I think that we need to kind of load off and appreciate both guys just as much Alex Ovechkin had ten forty nine double digits shot games the next guy in line Eric stall nine acas beauty everyone's like always catch Gretzky from ages eighteen to twenty nine one eighty three so so worse basically seeing where there's no last night the Hartnell Butler Whitney roundtable heartless said you'd think he's going to all of a sudden it's getting more likely and more likely and likely to top Sharon snowscape games he's just lights them off so he talks about what I it's perfect for us to have stuff to talk about all he played twelve minutes on the power cool did did matthews at two goals to that one I think and he just continues to light the lamp it's back to be too it's interesting because that's one of those numbers it'd be very disappointed if lovie didn't break it I with a with a with a bad change yes we accidentally shared that same in the league in goals scored the history and got fine for yeah give him the record make I am because of that speer but there's no chance he doesn't remember getting spirit I saw him somewhere that I was in the last or no maybe it was the year before the way he thinks I used to play Heathrow who she finally got one in the NHL Carolina's Andrea special cloth had the cow Zac College Tournament Special Club didn't have much room to put it but he talked it in that's also lacrosse earlier that day it happened twice in two different confidence to differently continents in two when he when he like flat paddled it he liked to- dragged it to lift it up because how's these fucking kids man their skill it is getting crazier and crazier like we're going to start seeing that games will apparently a few guys I've already attempted he is the combination of the two Nintendo those three nintendo hockey players. I don't like what people call it the Michigan goal should be Mike leg all he's the one who didn't it did it it shouldn't just be his it's on Right Walsh mets Macao the way he did it in the way Peterson tried to do it I don't even know the term I couldn't do this in practice unless I had I guess to each their own I mean I think it's hard to do with neurological too I'm just saying like I needed Gordie Howe aside and pick it up as opposed to just using the ground and getting at the way the Swedish could agree because twenty but yeah so I would agree with you but the reason I say that because I don't have a lot of range interestingly enough that wasn't even his first Mike leg all ego wet he actually won the goal of a little bit longer to Biz most guys tried different ways thinking about baseball abouts Roman Swipe Drake clinically proven to last longer in bed they're effective easy to use we needed swipes a great they will not transfer the apartments you can last longer without worrying the first month of swipes for just five dollars new choose a monthly plan if you use the link title chiefs the average get used to life without Mika Ranan and boom now they're gonNA have to get grabbed the Breeders Cup Eric Johnson tweeted bad day Philan- discard human and equine a little scary for them to try to just rely on Mckinnon and they're going to need guys to step up and I people because they're going to get ice time they normally wouldn't get so look at you gotta the trades add to their already not very deep repertoire but really highly skilled repertoire when you when you look at a lineup like the APPs okay you need guys that a better look in terms of some power play time things like that the other guy that I really was looking get another chance so you can look at depth and you can kind of worry when your top guys go out but to lawyers you you probably had no chance of winning to begin with and I was just going to say that up their game and of course another guy I'm looking at and his game even more sand y'all all right I get it this is the point of the season where I got to put the team on a bit less when all of a sudden those guys are on his line where it's just like when that thing gets together and it's a on what they can do I'll actually get to watch them firsthand on Saturday they'll be taken on the desert docks the rest of the season and you're not gonNa have many situations where they're missing both those big boys so awesome the Central Division the blues will be without Vladimir Tarasenko for five months as well as him on the power play and it's really GonNa put that Saint Louis depth to the test Biz I it to rely extremely heavily on the offense but on a team that stars for for it's the start of the two thousand twelve two thousand thirteen season so that just tells you how verse so this guy is like I mean that's the significant loss if you couldn't get there without him you probably deserve to win and five months brings rest of the regular season no matter what and we're going to get a guy because then when the cap when the playoffs start oh your ears you're done like what if what if what if they're in a battle for the final play that's this is for you to get warmed up if we actually are getting into playoffs is in order for him to get his game back if you're him I mean I to me I would be unselfish about it we're whatever his name in terms of how many goals he scored it's did you say it was fourteen Bisbee we are I think they will be able to see a lot of young guys get bigger chances but I still like their that situation in depth theft but I knew that they were able to go get a guy who basically makes what makes therefore round so you'll see him even more ice time and he's had a good start to so in per- leany to Detroit in Exchange Defensive Prospect Alec Regular Pollini had the hawks we did stop by hostile Chicago's headquarters last week talk to chief about him so we're going to send it over and Whitney an old friend rear admiral here boys thanks for coming thanks for stopping by while you're in Chicago hours away 'cause we gotta wait for big can't come back goes back to the downtown big time office their landlord is just a classic Char Trish Chelsea got tehmina conversation he'll engage you for four hours but no-one willingly he was honest it's about the fact that we we had hawks in the playoffs and then you think they were bashing us for I'm last night we we got a little bit we were doing some interviews actually old Black Hawk four social media really exploded like things I know and they went they Sir Peter Girgis entered the picking that up and I even ask because I think you there's like nobody in madden the team like that team so close as they're all young they're all they're fucking awesome they expect to win every cool being here though is I always say Chicago's my favorite city in in the country best I love this place early so having show I again I I love the city it was still pathetic playing here and then the crowd was he we're GonNa get him on this when they were holding great said I think there was like a battle between calls were still somewhat decent pop off the bears were okay the hawks were dead here for like they lost to the I think the you're the ads won the cup man fell off the Marlene branch here I don't know how to access that no dad's NHL players globally. Here's your main hotels here because they're too high it's to either fuck dude micheals and work this is the third time he's like you're at the wrong hotels Laura Yeah wasn't hockey video first trip to Chicago was pretty is a Bachelor Party for a buddy of mine and it was hilarious he looked like Al Capone so thirteen to right I know it was actually Twenty ten I came aims hunter was a dead ring of alcohol in Chicago alkyl the socks were Milwaukee so he took a road to fucking the SOX and Milwaukee had bus talking fucking Fiji water emptied out the water put it in the final be a bubble in the parking lot and military we got was a batch by way of Fuck on strip has come he used to dominate him when he was with Jessica Simpson Show Yup he always crushed Miller lite art out yeah I WanNa talk about another my first memory of you fighting Brandenburg is right because the Chicago Chicago regular season when they get the anthem going in there that I'm tip tells me hey you're going in a playoff game and I m my mind's going a million miles an hour so what's we get off to a bit of a slow start and I know I'm going up subside the cost stone we kind of look at each other we're like Kay we're doing it it was a pretty it didn't even get knocked down just came up over top I didn't do but that you got kicked out bowl in a more significant is your and a playoff game and all of a sudden now series yet killed him I think that was was that before Crawford is one one his stories everybody was blaming Crawford leading to softies and not against Bacher the right thirteen and we fucking hated you all that series I mean I so noisy I do I'm trying to remember if that that was I believe it might have been kicked out Buddy I remember Tyson Nash said it was a clean hit he had people faulk you for saying it's clean kid play for saying it's okay sure that's fine I'm GonNa Mike Smith yes I would say now because you knew he was held his whole.

"The secret teachings tonight Banderas dach- bird box. It's all about programming in control pack men making packed with him his infernal majesty, it's some pretty creepy stuff. But of course, it's it's there, and it's there for your discernment in the blindfold of discernment of courses is a metaphor in in that movie bird box in so many other things so many other different contexts contextual underlying themes that are going through that film. It's not just a film. It's it's really interesting predictive programming. It does tackle I believe it's a metaphor for Twitter a bird box where you get the message. And then, of course, other things from social media, actually, drives you crazy. Are there any thoughts? You have Ryan about this that we haven't covered yet because I want to get to smartphones. But are there is there anything else you want to add to this yet two quick things one? I was thinking that looking at these unseen unmanifested creatures until you see them when they do manifest of. Kind of like watching the movie in the ring when you watch it. And then you die, and it's also sort of like as I mentioned slender, man. Once you see him. You can't see him that was part of the preview for that movie. But it's also like the Blair witch. It's also like we read in the bible exodus thirty three twenty. You cannot see my face for. No, man shall see me and live that also reminded me of a more positive version of this which would be ISIS in Egypt. No, mortal, man, hath unveiled me. And of course, that relates to other parasites that consume the mind and the brain like, we know about the mind flare from dungeons and dragons and slender not slender man, excuse me in stranger things, right? You see in the alien franchise. You have the face hugger. There's also a video game. I one of the mention called the last of us where this fungus takes over the brain. And the is and it kind of creates these like zombies. So when you start to see all of this, CLYDE, whether it's music movies television, the internet as I suggested earlier, we need to put on our blindfold of discernment and conscious awareness. So that we are not taken by these fascinations and bound to commit harmful acts to ourselves or others. Even if it's just considered for fun as part of what I call the devils challenge. I don't participate in this personally. But people that are participating in. These types of challenges are doing things like driving cars with blindfolds on supposedly. I mean, it's re- it's to the point where it's like, total dysfunction and crumbling up society itself is almost like watching the scene unfold. In any horror movie or a disaster movie were stuff just starts to fall apart? It's almost like slow-motion version of that for society. Did you know that I was watching one of the it's of course, what Ryan is talking about is there's actually a bird box challenged on the internet where people are being challenged wear blindfolds and go through the day and do some of the things the characters in in bird box. Did so people are driving their cars. Blindfolded people are doing tasks they shouldn't be doing blindfolded. And what's interesting is. Now, I've been watching some of these videos there now sponsored. You know, they're now getting YouTube videos. They're now saying we'd like to thank there was a there was one girl and a guy or two girls that were doing the tasks and a guy was observing them. And we'd like to thank gosh. It seatgeek is what I think the the the sponsor was seatgeek a new way to get tickets to rock concerts. And she did the commercial and said would like to thank seatgeek forgetting, it's this exposure seatgeek for sponsoring us doing this. So apparently, they went to seatgeek can say we'll promote this because we get a lot of people paying attention to what we're doing. So now a sponsors are sponsoring this madness saying, okay, go out and drive your car blind. And we'll pay you, CLYDE, it's almost like the movie itself, whether it's bird box, or any film any form of entertainment. It's almost like that form of entertainment is the unseen force. And when we lift our blindfold of discernment as I call it. That's when it takes us, and it manifests in so many forums people actually have committed suicide or. Have attempted to murder other people or are doing kind of mundane things that can become increasingly dangerous all because they watched a movie and solemn mean online, that's kind of thing. How many suicides have been televised on YouTube a lot how many people who've been shot by police? Officers are broadcast on YouTube. They're creating this reality that is dark ends route. And it gives you the spare that's one of the reasons the main killer right now, the big killer of people in the United States is despair and the idea that they cannot connect and the reason why we don't connect is because of the internet. The reason why we have that line in the movie people just don't connect anymore. They look lonely. They look sad. That was in there because I think they're actually saying this is what we're talking about. We're talking about the poison philosophies that creep in from social media. And that you need to be wearing that blindfold of disturbance, you call it cloud. I want to mention something else that's very synchronous steak when I watched bird box last night. So the birds, of course, in the movie, they know when these creatures are around dislike animals. Kind of have an extra sensory perception after this was over. I watched a movie that I really really enjoyed with Amy Adams called a rival. Oh, great film. Yeah. A fantastic film. And I just thought it was interesting when they go up into the spaceship, and they're communicating with these hep to pods which also kind of have the tentacle like legs they bring in a bird in a cage to test whether or not the air is poisonous. And so that is actually an old thing. I think coal miners used to do they used to have birds in cages to test the air was poisonous bird dot not. So that just kind of minds me you keep saying poison, and I keep thinking of using the bird to detect the unseen force or to detect the poison. It's poisonous philosophies. I think it is it's poises philosophies because all of the things all indicated like a came from Russia and all this, and there's so many things I somebody had sent me a a an Email saying that somebody I think it's a it's a metaphor for racism. Of course, everything's a metaphor for racism global warming. But I mean, I think we need to really dig deeper than that anyone can come up with that. But I was thinking that all these poises philosophies that certainly give people a reason to freak out or you know, it's like I was saying I. Say in my monologue in my earlier, monologues. And now, they have I said before I don't know if you've been watching the the internet lately, but what's really odd about it is is like, for example. Where are we seeing people being triggered into behaving badly by exposure to controversial material we're seeing on social media where do we hear that songs like baby it's cold outside or about rape, social media? Where do we see store clerks attacking people freaking out over a man, wearing a Trump shirt social media? Where do we see a trans woman freak out at a game store clerk after being called, sir? Social media, what fuels news organizations to explain an eleven year old boy who claims to be a drag Queen social media. These are these are the things that if we did not we didn't have social media. We wouldn't be exposed to it. You know what I'm saying? Absolutely. And through social media these things help to manifest other forums. Whether it's a challenge or some type of mean more the NPC that helps to create through that poisonous influence a collective group. Think mentality that usher society Ford. The reformist social engineering direction. Exactly what it is social engineering, and it's getting worse. Julian Washington, you're on with Brian Gable? Go ahead. Wow. I I thank you. So very much. I really appreciate you guys taking a deep dive into this. I happened upon I bird box because my twenty three year old said, hey, mommy, should check out this movie. It's really interesting. And I didn't think anything I would. I just turned it on and watched it. Well. You know, I have my opinions about that. Just like you do. But then guess what? Netflix served up immediately after that what black mirror chorus. I mean, right. And and I entered it with a little bit of trepidation because they'll dark to me out of the gate. It felt like mine controlled just looking at it. Here's what troubles me most. Okay. So I mean, everything you're saying spot on can't can't agree with it. More part of my problem with this directive programming is I don't get to make those choices. I don't get him. A good choice. I want. So is it back to this whole question in advertising is it if it were serving up something that's intriguing and people are buying into it or are people wanting it, and they're the ones who are looking for it. So the allude. Illusion of choice. Yeah. So in in the middle. I. Well there. Plug your ears. The character. You know, the kid who's going to commit suicide or the other guy says, well, I'm coming back. Why let has to go. Well, I didn't like either choice I want. And so yes, the algorithms. Yep. Flicks. They're catching all those choices. But at a at a deeper level. What about these kids who are making these choices and are getting into what effect does that having their psyches? Julie I want to point out something it's interesting. You point out the very same instance in banner snatch that I felt sensitive to and that is that choice between Stefan, and Colin and they were on that ledge, and I felt really strange making a choice like that. And that was when I realized ooh, this is really getting deep and scary. And so I even went back and made a different decision. It was it was just, you know, it just creeped me out that that you said that because I say in my notes that that was the point in the show. I mean, the dad didn't bother me because he was irritating. But I'm just saying Colin was giving that speech and. Stefan was listening to them or both like, you know, so take your choice. What are you gonna do? And I'm thinking either or's a bad choice. But someone's gotta do it in order to keep the timeline to flow. And then you go back, and you realize something more that the time line would have went better if someone was taken out that should have been taken out a long time ago, but we don't think to take him out. Because of course, he's the main character. It's just weird decisions. Well, and you know, once I went back. Okay. I'm in marketing and advertising, and I don't like a lot of what's going on. I'm actually one of the good guys it tries to prevent this kind of stuff from happening and making sure people are aware as well. But I do have to stay informed. So like you're talking about I have to I have to watch this stuff. I have to know what's going on. And it was really interesting to me that I went back multiple times and made different choices because I wanted to see what different outcomes I could create. I knew that there were limited outcomes. Now, not everybody's gonna know that like the woman who called she knew very well because she watched every. You know, she went back over and over again. But even so even though I mean, I got I got tired of making choices than having the outcome. Be so grossly negative like when I was watching it. I felt this really dark energy around me, and I had to really focused intently on bringing love and light around me because it I felt at a core level that was not right. You know? Yeah. I agree after two or three times actually two times for me. I watched it in the theater, and I watched another time at home. I got to the point where I was seeing myself, wait a minute. I mean, the choices are becoming darker and darker and darker, the only like I said, the only thing that really intrigued me was the conversation. I had with Stefan. And I mean, I know it was an illusion. But it was like I was talking to him and saying, yes, I'm controlling the twenty first century, and you have no control over your life. I'm controlling you. And me feel weird. Go ahead. Ryan what you'll also think about this?.

"It could be you'd be in trouble aren't, let's move onto some other things, but but a couple of things real quick to try and put a bow on it before the regular season off your first of all Khalil Mack is. So if you're a raiders fan and you say, but Ramses paid Aaron, Donald that dach- showing respect to one of your. Cornerstone pieces, except if you're really going to dig into it, Aaron, Donald is the better defensive player who looms more sort of his particular brand of dominance impacts opposing islands is playing in play out, whereas Khalil Mack does not. Is that fair out agree with you hundred percent? And that was the hard part, you know, not, you know, obviously, Khalil deserves what he got in Chicago. I mean, but I think that if you went around to the majority of the people in the league players and personnel guys, they would say earned Donald is is a better overall player just from what he brings in getting to the backfield able to push the pocket. I mean, clueless got a lot of lot of pass, rush ability and is great against the run. But Aaron thing most people say, earns better player. So what do you, how do you rationalize that say, okay, well, he made this. We weren't gonna offer him as much as Aaron because everyone views air and is a little bit more of a more of a dominant player inside. So when they when he goes when he starts talking about ninety, ninety five million dollars guarantee. You can't do it. Yeah. I think that even though everybody is attaching hero terms to the bears, I think that they, I don't know that this is the greatest wouldn't remember. What do you think of wave two years and all that loot to glorify Albie agree it? What do you do when Mitchell Trubisky to come up? You're going to have some issues and hopeless situation where I don't gotta let go and you're making too much money. You know, you never know minutes the nature of the business. Well, nature of the business is to one of the Mike cliches that always bangs around in my head and rings empty of all when it comes to the football cliches is, hey, this team has nothing to hang hang their heads about, they'll be back, you know? I mean, some of my earliest memories are Dan Marino in his sophomore year has a great season. Oh, no worries. Danny, you've got though he will not be plenty of time to come back. Right Heff. You dare talked about as Derek mentioned to you that I mean. It was twenty months or so ago, whatever it was twenty five months at twenty twenty months ago that they go into a game with the lowly colts in Oakland. They are on a path mid probably by most people's. From what we're most people's had. They're on their way to the Super Bowl dare breaks at least planned Pittsburgh. That's right. Or yet. Interesting. That would be good. That would have been fun, but either way. So Derek and company are headed there that was less than two years ago. And now they go six and ten. They've won a grand total of six games in the last year and a half that the one they you are not guaranteed another trip back close once and to it's amazing how fast it's not just the things get site. I mean, they, you know they're plummet. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm, I'm gonna break some news right here. I'm excited. There's what's going to happen. So here I'm gonna break it down quickly if I can't. So their offense of unit was was really good that year they want a lot of games at the end of the game, right? And some two minutes situations. They're exciting. There were five or six of those. They were down with less than three minutes left so that that was almost like they kind of maybe they want to three games more than they should have that year. And then so you let your offense coordinator go for whatever reason. Good. That head coach, the made that decision is no longer that coach of the Oakland Raiders. So then you go through and you have a coach that hasn't really ever called place before as much as I..
