The Iranian Terrorist Caught Having Crossed the Mexican Border
"W and I are here for our Friday roundup of the week. We usually chat in the morning over coffee about what we want to talk about and the first topic I have on the list is very interesting is Iranian guy. Showing up at the southern border and apparently being apprehended not by border control but by not by border patrol, but by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the so called DPS. They find this guy with four other illegal immigrants in the trunk of a vehicle. And while they suspected him, they thought he was on the FBI's terrorist screening database. And they checked him out, apparently Department of Homeland Security is now saying, no, he wasn't on the database. But I mean, look at this. You've got, first of all, this is not a guy living in Mexico and he's a hard. He's not Mexican. He's not even he's not even south of South American. So the bigger picture is, oh yeah, you know, he's not the one. Okay, first of all, just the fact that he is an Iranian citizen, going through Mexico should give you pause for concern, no, am I wrong? I mean, I mean, what's his motive, right there, is he just simply a guy looking for a better life. I thought he I thought life was wonderful in Iran during the times of the Iranian revolution. Yeah, but I mean, it's just because this kind of points to the bigger picture. And you know, Eric stackelberg talked about this about the fact that Iran is really getting its sights on all of Central America, South America. So it makes you wonder if these guys are in Mexico already. Who are they?

Alec Baldwin Reaches Settlement With Halyna Hutchins' Family
"There's a statement, a communications act that was released by the widower of helly Hutchins. This is the DP that was killed. Yes, killed by Alex Baldwin sue me sue me Alec Baldwin. You had the gun. You pull the trigger, you killed her. On the set of rust. Have you read this statement? I have not. I think I heard it though. It just came out, isn't it hot off the process? Yes, it's hot off the press. So this is from newsmax. We have this is from the widower. This is the husband. We have reached a settlement subject to court approval for our wrongful death case against the producers of rust, including Alec Baldwin. As part of the settlement, our case will be dismissed because they're getting an undisclosed pile of cash. Right. Filming of rust will resume in January. And this is a thing that kind of just made me vomit a little bit in my mouth. And I, this is from the husband, Matthew Hutchins, I will now become executive producer of the movie. Is this like, I mean, I know it's Holly weird, and I know it's a bunch of perverts, but doesn't this sicker knew that the man who is left a widower wants to get a title on the movie on who's set his wife was killed? It's not even just the title though, that means that he's going to get money. Money. Yeah, a percentage of all the profits. I was pretty stunned when I heard this statement. And it, of course, benefits Alec Baldwin to settle with him for a couple of reasons. One, there's a very real possibility that he is going to be charged because the FBI insists that the trigger was pulled on the gun that killed Elena Hutchins and that means that somebody pulled it and Alec Baldwin was the one who was holding the gun, there's that question. There's also the negligence issue about why live ammo was actually on the set of this film. So that's a problem for him legally and to have the husband come out and say we believe this was a tragic accident is going to do nothing but help him. And then part two is he's not going to have to sit for a deposition because he's able to settle with them out of court. They're not going to actually have to use testimony that could have been used in a criminal trial against him. And so it's a great day. If you're Alec Baldwin, what I don't understand. And again, I don't want to be a grief shamer, but if your wife is missing, the mother of your children is now missing from your lives permanently because someone took her because of a mistake or whatever happened on the set of that movie, it's really hard not to feel like this statement and all of the money taking isn't just a cheapening of her memory.

Isaiah Washington Talk About His New Movie Corsicana
"Isaiah. It's a real pleasure as always and I know that this film has been kind of a dream of yours to launch from the ground up. Talk a little bit about what makes this film different from perhaps the kind of routine fair that Hollywood puts out. Why are you excited about this film? I must say about the film is that it actually, for me, and I don't shy away from this. It actually is a godsend. I did not go into cross account originally prepared to direct this movie. Although, for my entire career, I always knew that the producer, the anonymous one, was the one that was actually building a house, that actually followed the blueprint and built a house on the ground up and actually would actually participate in net profit participation indefinitely. So my goal was always to be a producer. Never to be a director. And here's why. I thought that I wasn't worthy. I had already worked with Spike Lee. He was my God at the time. You know, he gave me this career for a time and set me up and Hollywood. We got the attention of Clint Eastwood. It was also considered to me I'm a huge fan that was my God. Michael Abd, Steven Soderbergh, Warren Beatty. I got spoiled early on in my career, watching these men call directors and they're great DPs, but unbeknownst to me. I was sitting at the table of greatness and got a chance to be a student up directing.

Michael Collins's Insight Into Sergio Garcia's Decision to Join LIV
"So the interesting thing about Sergio was when I asked him about what went into joining Liv. And, you know, it's funny, like everybody who asked why was these guys would just say it's all about the money. I would say it's all about the money. Well, Sergio said, yes, about the money. Like, this is generational money where my kids and my grandkids won't have to worry about money. Like it's generational. So generations of garcias will be good to go. And like as a parent, you go, okay, that's hard to walk away from. And he goes, what? It's not, it's not as easy a decision as people think. People think like they just do a check down. You was like, hell yeah, where do I sign? But it's not, it wasn't even close to that. Because as a golfer, you think about and you worry about those repercussions because at the time, and he was one of the first guys that signed up. But at the time, he was like, okay, if I sign with these guys, I spent 23 years 24 seasons on the PGA Tour and the DP world tour to European tour. I gave them more than half of my life. And like, what if I never get to play on either of them again? Like that matters. And now the writer. And now what if the door, like, you know, 'cause when threats first started coming out, it was like the players are gonna get sued the tour is gonna ban them for life, like all of these things. And people think that, you know, they just had a check going in front of them with a contract and they were like, I'm out bounce. Why can't you just like and it wasn't, it wasn't even close to being that easy, you know? And so I think it's a lot easier for people on the outside to just look at it that way because it's easier to digest, especially if you wanna hate on the live tour. But after talking to Sergio for a while about it, I was like, you know what? This dude really, there was a long thought process that went into the decision that he finally came to and joined in the lid.

Greg Norman Banned From the British Open Champions Dinner
"Greg Norman has been banned. From the British open champions dinner. What do you make of this? 150th one. So it's not like it's just the 149th or something not very meaningful, but they were making a big ass deal out of this. It's out saint Andrews because of the year or whatever, trying to make it awesome. And I don't know, I think it's, I think it's bullshit because the dude is a two time champion. You kind of like earn your right at that dinner. I mean, he's taken shots at multiple organizations. I know, you know, from other things, but the British open is very independent from as all the majors are. From the DP world tour from the PGA Tour. And Norman was the guy, man, like people have different opinions. They can say what they want, but I mean, I'm older than you, but when I was Tiger came around in 97, whatever, I was already 16 years old. Like when I was a kid, it was Norman and Fred Couples. Those were the two guys. Right? So when you were probably that age, it was Tiger by that point. Right. But it was a really small moment. Norman and Fred Couples, right? I think 92 couples was number one in the world, but before they knew it was always Norman, every single major. Like he only ended up, I think, just win in the two British opens, but it was insane. Every single major he was in the last group on Sunday, like absolutely crazy stuff. And choked a few away one of you, blah, blah, blah. So I mean, he was very especially a two time winner. He was like a very much part of that whole journey. And you earn your right to that situation right there, that dinner. So I think it's kind of BS, really. Rory McIlroy Changes Tune on LIV

He comes out this week and says backtracks completely like total one 80 and says eventually the PGA Tour and the live tour and the DP world tour are going to have to work together. What do you make of that? I don't know. I feel I feel for Rory, he took such a hard stance against it. I've had some beliefs in certain things that I've like, whatever, tried to do or projects working on, that I thought were shitty and ended up. You hated the list. Yeah, well, and then vice versa. Well, I didn't want to, I don't want to say that I hated it. I just thought it was annoying because I was like, God, dang it. Like, this shit is annoying. Not one time that you've already chief telling anybody to stand down. While the DPS director was pressed in the hearing, where others were questioning him as to you were saying that these tactic is a very obvious and they clearly made mistakes and you've already police chief made a made of blunder and everybody on the scene should have known that it was an active shooter situation. Which in hindsight I agree with, they asked him the question, you had your DPS deputies, your DPS troopers there. Why didn't you guys go in? Why didn't y'all make the decision to turn this into an active shooter? If you could see that the Yuval the chief is incompetent as you claim, why didn't you guys take over leadership and take over command control? Incident commander. Another thing that they kept saying is that when the tactical team showed up, the Yuval police he told him to stand down as well in the testimony, you've already police chief is heard saying, let's go, let's go, let's go. Y'all is the S.W.A.T. team ready? Let's go. There is no indication he told anybody to stand down. None. In the entire testimony of the DPS director, did he say anything about you've already police chief telling somebody to stand down? Not one reference in the entire testimony that you've already police chief make mention that the police officers lives were more important than the kids lives. If anything, he read his testimony on body one camera that he said we need to prevent him from shooting through the walls because we don't want any more children to be killed by getting hit with bullets through the wall. And I'm going to reiterate this and I'm going to bring in a couple callers. DPS director said every single officer that showed up initially at the scene, the local PD, all of them would have gone in and took out the threat if they had known the kids were in the classroom. So which is it? Do they know the kids in the classroom and their cowards and they're sitting outside the classroom and letting them die? Or they have no information that would indicate that the kids are in the classroom and their treatments like a barricaded subject. I'll finish my thoughts with this and then I'll get to some callers. My thought is this. I gave this analogy earlier. If you were a doctor and you had a patient come into your office and they came in with certain symptoms and you believed that they had, they were suffering from dehydration. Now, after you've treated them for dehydration and after you realize the dehydration wasn't what you thought it was and actually they had kidney stones, explain to me how the criticism.

Gov. Scott Walker: Uvalde School Shooting Was a Preventable Disaster
"The shocking testimony yesterday suggests that they didn't even open a door that wasn't even locked that law enforcement waited an hour and 17 minutes or whatever it was that this arradondo evidently stood down and I'm hearing from cops all over the country law enforcement who say that it was, well, as the DPS chief in Texas called it an abject failure and yet that may have that tragedy and that horrific catastrophe where there's 19 babies in those two beautiful women were murdered, that may just have led to an erosion of the Second Amendment of the constitution because people think we need to do something. Right, instead of looking at the heart of the issue here, as you are, Mike, I'm a big proponent of law enforcement. I think the last few years with the whole defund the police effort has been a horrible mistake and it's led to early release and DAs who have set lower no cash bail and all sorts of problems, which is why many of our large cities have major crime problems. But in this instance, and I've usually reluctant to criticize the police without knowing the full circumstance, but as the picture becomes clear and clear, and this is an absolute favorite. This is a preventable catastrophe of preventable disaster. There's not only did the system fail not seeing that this young man had signs of problems long before this tragedy of bird, but as you just mentioned, the training that law enforcement goes through in instance after instance, we have examples all across the country that people are putting themselves at great risk even risk of losing their life to save Americans, let alone children out here. So just a huge, huge failure. And the proposal is being thrown around the United States Senate aren't really addressing the issues with people not willing to follow the law and with people falling into the trap of mental health issues.

WHY POLICING IS NOT Like the MOVIES
"You know, I just want people to think. That's all I want people to just consider a few things. You know, the caller they called in, much respect to that collar. I love the fact that he asked questions and he was respectful about it. You know, why didn't they go through the windows? Why didn't they, like, I want people to understand this is not this is not like the movies. Like going through the window isn't always a smooth transition. The windows that you've already schooled look like they were waist high or chest high for an adult. So you would have to actually climb up into the window. These are pain windows that are not big sheets of glass. So if you broke a window out, you would have to somehow be able to manipulate the latch, lift the window up and then crawl through a window that probably only one adult cathedral. And probably may not be able to fit through it with tactical gear on. So Jesse imagine when the school was shut down, they turn out a lights off as protocol. So you can't see the shooter in the room. You don't know where he's at. You're going to walk up to the window with no cover. You're going to knock the glass out and you have to rake the glass because glass doesn't just fall in little chunks like they do at, you know, in your car, if you get into a car accident, these are big sheets of glass that may break off. And so you got to rake the glass to make sure there's no shards. So when you do climb through, you don't cut your jugular vein.

UnderSTANDING POLICING REQUIRES LISTENING to the POLICE

It's easy to say they should have just ran in there and did whatever. I don't know what they were experiencing on the scene. I'm trying to believe that they were acting in good faith and just messed up. Unless we know the truth, we can't say anything different unless you're completely biased against police, which a lot of people have come out and being completely biased. I will never tell you or talk to you and argue with you about bloodborne pathogens. I'm not going to talk to you about virology. I have never spent a second learning about viruses. Listen to DPS testimony. Go on to Texas tribune, which I thought they wrote an incredible article about this entire shooting that's unbiased. It's fact based it's unbiased. Do your research. Find people that you trust that are actual experts at a subject matter. To hear their opinions, compare that with knowledge that you have gained, don't never just listen to one person. Whether it's whether it's incompetence, whether it's fear, blame them from that point to 50 seconds where they go in and shoot the guy and kill him. Now 50 seconds, 50 minutes. The problem that I'm seeing here is that people want a scapegoat. You don't have to blame everybody because you don't or you're not comfortable with what happened. It is a catastrophe that young people lost their lives in that school. It was a perfect storm of evilness.

"Many references about cheaper ando about the door being locked and needing keys and more keys and a master key and just constant references to keys but is there any evidence whatsoever that shows through the video as it was examined later that the door was ever that there was an attempt to open the door or test whether or not it was locked We could never see anybody put their hand on the door and of course up and up until the breach and in that the last at the breach we've gone back and talked to the breachers we interviewed the breachers and they said no they didn't try the door handle beforehand They didn't even try to open the door Before they got a key They didn't even try to open the door before they got a key Remember the border patrol agent who was getting a haircut who was off duty mister producer And he bars the shotgun from his barber runs to the elementary school enters through another way and walks through the halls his wife was a teacher his child is a student emptying one classroom after another How did he get him

"Looks like baker mayfield's just a shade over six foot about two fifteen can make some plays as a runner but that north carolina offense why. We're not kind of putting them in that. You know that conversation trevor lawrence like a surefire locked number one is that humour. Rpo's than anyone else in the country. Last year he threw more. Go ball saying what else the country. not that. not saying that you won't have to do those at the nfl level but are one read basically not having to do quarterback things. It's just arm talent at that point. So the town's their physical tools are there to to end up overall pick. It's just we need to see him. Actually operating offense there and north carolina. More all right. The third quarterback off the board is. Here's where it gets a little hairy. Those two are the top two clearly. The guy i like is a third quarterback off the boards. Kyw touched down there. Monique wilson liberty with trae. Lance goes number three overall this past year basically based off of what he can do physically not much sort of polish as a quarterback not much sort of even experiences quarterback trailer. That's kind of leak willis at liberty. His former auburn guy lost bone knicks. But he might have the strongest army in the country and is the best runner in the country. He had over a thousand yards rushing last year is six foot two twenty five and runs a four five. Like he had more broken tackles than a lot of the running back drafted last year. This guy could be running back in the nfl. Wanted to be a probably third fourth. Rounder if you just want to play that and that's gonna play so much and has been playing so much with gaza calamari lamar jackson how it impacts defense so i do think that even if only quills doesn't necessarily developed too much of a passer just what he can do from a russian perspective is gonna show him get him draft. Highland is mike renner. The pro football focus lead draft analyst. Let me throw it a couple of names. Jt daniels at georgia. Hi i'm not yet. You go back and watch. Cincinnati comes in ended last year. I think he played five games. I want to say the first few electric. I mean he's bombing down the football field. But then you watch them go up against a good defense so he didn't actually faced any of the top cop in the when he does come in was a good defense in cincinnati and basically he doesn't know when to stop taking chances with the football head one of the highest average depths of target of any quarterback in college football last year over twelve yards down the football field. You just throw almost willy nilly and you see that in bowl game where he's just taking all these bad. Chances industrially really reading the defenses. I so still too early. I'd say for him but he was the qb three in that class behind. Trevor lawrence injust fields coming out of high school obviously a massively talented dude. But we just need to see a more consistent quarterback this year on slovaks at usc. I think he does a great arm. But i think he's really accurate. Just got good size. I think six two six three. What do you think of slava's. He's the guy that needs that mac. Joan sort of leap to basically playing perfect football because no one's gonna draft him first overall based off of what he brings the table and is that the arm is not great. But you know joe. Boroughs arm wasn't great and you went number one overall but when it is not great you have to play flawless. You have to not make mistakes with the football. And i think that's what slow this is just too much of at this point. Throw the ball the other team. He's basically missing linebackers missing reads and that sort of thing that you can't do it but he he does have the sort of the processing -bility see him get to his check down quickly. See him get your second very quickly. He has that ability but just too many sort of boneheaded play so far i know carson strong nevada that he lives up to his name. You know he's a big kid but he's at nevada outed somebody who's maybe a first round draft pick end up at nevada. I actually haven't looked too much into his background. Why he ended up there but it is surprising because not only is he playing good football. It's back he's got a and he's got a very aesthetically pleasing. Released like aaron rodgers released where it's just like it's quick. It looks like the way of football. Should be thrown. That's carson strong and so i think he could end up in that first round conversation obviously played exceptionally well. Last year has a pretty good wide receiver out there and romeo dubs. Who could be inferred strong conversation as well that he's got a play some real competition this year. I believe he plays boise state early on plays cow. Yeah play some place. Some actual not one petition after not playing any Power five competition after not playing any last year but car strong i think the most completions of anyone and by far that came fifty plus yards last year and had the farthest throw in the country from start to finish seventy yards from his hands. Where the ball up of any quarterback in the country lester. I'll throw out another one and only because his scalp told me about him. Kenny pick it at pittsburgh can't pick it he's got so there's a lot of guys with cannons in this draft class and now the lot and a lot of guys who are polished though. He is all over the place with his accuracy. So far like you'll you'll have throws that are just. I mean gorgeous gorgeous. Throw here reminds me a lot of the guy who might be. Starting for the coulter. Jacob eastern back at washington was just like man that is forty are laser post and then the next one is a bubble screen that sailed over a guy's head so pick it has the physical ability but man. He is accuracy issues for days. You some good games coming up this weekend. We'll we see surprised in college football. I mean definitely see a surprise. We're asked me to predict a surprise that is not my forte. I am not. I am not the best prognosticator but My my my upset that there is any uptick. I think georgia comes out. Georgia's my one of my national championship. Picks i think they come out and put it to clemson because this is the most talented defense in the country right now and yeah clemson's ranked three george rank five but i think on a neutral field. Gimme georgia mike. Good to talk to you. We'll be talking to you during the season. Thank you very much for shirt. They started have gone. That's mike runner. Football focus lead draft analyst. I will say that. Mike does make me feel better of my questions when i go. Who's you're upset special this weekend. Like he gives a great thought. I appreciate that by the way as strange as this is gonna sound of all the games this weekend. And you got penn state wisconsin. You got Alabama miami indiana iowa georgia clemson. Ohio state plays minnesota thursday night. I'm interested in louisiana versus texas. Good call. I'm really interested in louisiana. Not not lsu. Lsu's got ucla but louisiana against taxes because the clock starts ticking on steve sarkisian. He's got a three year window here at texas. Louisiana is a top twenty five team. Yeah point you're raising cajun's are getting eight points from texas entertainment purposes. Only money line. And it's tricky when you're trying to handicap these quarterbacks because of all those quarterbacks that we mentioned there will probably be another quarterback that comes out of nowhere and you'll go wait. Where did he come from. How long's he been a starter. Because if you said to. Me zach wilson. At the beginning of the year a year ago. he's going to go number two overall. Now i go okay. I didn't see enough enough consistency. I knew he was highly thought of but then all of a sudden you know we don't even know.

"Really impressive during training camp and i mentioned this yesterday and of course people jump all over me when i say that you know mac jones is you know he's. He's tom brady but his style is. Tom brady not his resume his destiny and all of those things. It felt like that. Josh mcdaniels and bill belichick. We're going to see tom. Brady two point zero like. Here's the next reincarnation of somebody who's based their career on trying to be. Tom brady like blasphemous to say that. Mack jones wants to be or plays. Like tom brady. Well yes. Because i know it does though ben. Oh no question. Is it all about going back to the tom. Brady style of offense mack. Jones is not gonna be rushing for many first downs this year. They're not going to be calling reduction place but matt jones can operate from the pocket. He can deal the ball from the And that's what the nfl is still all about. Athleticism is important for quarterbacks but in immobile forty-three-year-old quarterback with a bum knee. Just won a super bowl because he can operate from the pocket and so absolutely this is a return to the old style Watching the patriots last year was frustrating. Just kansas wasn't delivering from the pocket. Eight touchdown passes all season. The passing offense was a real grind. A his accuracy was scattershot. All over the place. Now back amac jones. You gotta downfield passing attack. I think the play action passing games. Give me a big part of their offense tight. Ends down the middle. Johnny smith hundred henry and yes absolutely. It is a very similar style to what they ran with. Tom brady especially from a decade ago. When they had drunk and eric hernandez as they're too tight ends so i definitely think they're more comfortable with mack jones in his style quarterback and in today's nfl. You gotta be able to deal from from the pocket. And i think mack jones is far superior at that that i don't know how inspirational would to you if you're mack jones but josh mcdaniels said about mack jones he comes in well prepared every day to do the things we ask our guys to do. He's generally taking care of the football and giving the other guys the opportunity to do their job and make positive place. Wow that's that's not exactly a ringing. Endorsement there of your new starting quarterback. What do you make of josh mcdaniels assessment now. I don't know we'll be splashing that quote across the top of the boston. No that's it. I really see. The patriots coaches straining themselves to not gush about mack jones. I think it's clear they love him and they're just trying not to hype the cancun. That's why ballot. Jack named newton the starter night. They drafted cam newton. They're just mack jones. They're just trying to keep level head about this thing and not get ahead of themselves but to me. What what what caught my attention in the last couple of weeks with matt jones is not necessarily his play on the field but the fact that bella check in an interview was raving about maximum work ethic. And then you hear from respected veterans. Matthew slater dante high tower brian hoyer raving about mack jones and his work ethic. And how he's impressed. The veterans in hightower saying i saw jones was studying our defensive playbook and i've never really seen that before that you know he just wanted to know what was going on that side of the ball so the fact that a all these respected veterans even bill belichick himself have been very impressed. They can't help themselves at times With mack jones in how Just matured and he's been so far in his work ethic so i you know mcdaniel's quote there. I just think he's really going on with this weight not to build the height quit with match. But i think it's clear that they really loved this kid. How big is that ticket now. In new england week four. When the patriots host tampa bay might cost eleven billion dollars. Attended the stadium that night. I don't know. I mean it was already going to be a huge ticket just from brady coming back but yet mack jones. You know it's like bella checks coming back to bite like oh you think you're good brady like well. I got my own brady now. I got brady to point out here. So it's gonna be awesome. I can't wait to see. How belichick defends brady you know. What kind of kitchen saying. He's thrown at him Do they attack him with the blitz up the middle. Do they play it safe to me. you know. The box are a team that tom brady not always clicking on all cylinders early in the season so in other bringing back everyone from their super bowl team but will be operating efficiently In that week four game with their comments in new england that is gonna be just an all-time slugfest in the regular season. Like i wish we could just fast for a week four already. I'll leave you with this. What is your philosophy asking. Bill belichick a question in front of your peers. Just dive in. Just go for it. bella check. There's a misnomer that hates the media. I think he absolutely enjoys his press conferences. Any respects the media. I think he the media that doesn't kowtow to him that it actually going to ask him. A tough question isn't afraid to go toe to toe so. I think you always wanna remain respectful. And you don't wanna like kind of ask him trolling leading questions. But there's no harm in asking tough question about cam. Newton's vaccine vaccination status or what happened with these are real questions. And you gotta ask them. And i think ballot check respects reporters. Who are willing to do that. Seton do you have that. The question that was asked this morning where bill just gave a one word. Answer that i don't know if it's the first one that is that on campus a backup or max starting and cam vaccination. What was Tried that one girl wondering how much did having those three days to himself for. Matt jones helped him. Beat out cam for that position. I don't know okay now. That's ben that's a fair question. He's the only one who knows and he doesn't know that. That's my favorite stock answer. Someone asks him. Oh wow you you gave. Matthew judah on sturdy two million guaranteed how do you envision him fitting in the deep ends that he doesn't have a very specific plan from attitude on. So could you imagine how he would react ben if he didn't like and respect to the media as as you're telling me i when he gives those short answers that means you hit the nail on the las good to talk to you. Ben keep up the great work. Thank you appreciate you dan. Thanks ben bolan. The boston globe senior. Nfl writer covering the patriots. I don't know how i would do in a situation like that. Now i've been in situations with bob knight and bill parcells and those are two of the toughest guys i've ever been in the room with. I thought that bob knight didn't like the media. Bill parcells love to toy with the media. I just think bella check comes off as annoyed. Gregg popovich comes off annoyed. I got to answer this question and a lot of it has to do with. You don't know what i know but you're gonna ask me questions and my thought was always i don't know but i do want to know and that's why i do ask you these questions but parcells would shut you down. Bob knight bob knight would go into an interview already having an attitude. I did an interview with him. On the future of the nit indiana was playing in the nit.

"Probably approaching eight hundred home runs. Not seven hundred home runs because of the emphasis when you're a great hitter. Bonds bonds was a great hitter. He wasn't one of those guys who just went up there and he would be swinging. Bonds was a five tool player. If he came up well he. He was built differently in the early part of his career. He was very thin. Very slender stealing bases outfielder. But hitting for good average then of course he started with steroids he became a bigger guy and he was one dimensional. He'd just swing to hit home runs but but pool holes who was pretty much avoided any cloud of controversy. When it comes to that would probably be approaching. Eight hundred home runs if pool. Holsworthy retired at age thirty one. After he was his last year with saint louis he would be a first ballot hall of famer. Justin saint louis. He batted three thirty with four hundred and forty five homers in his first eleven years. That's first ballot. And it's one of the great bargains in baseball history that the cardinals got ten great years. It costs them a little over one hundred million dollars. They got ten years with pool halls with those numbers but he would be approaching. I think eight hundred home runs with today's philosophy offensive philosophy where you're just hitting home runs. That's all they care about. You don't have to put it in play. Hit it out or play it over the wall all right eight seven seven three show. Email address dp dan. "Your coaches are here to help you in one day. A josh allen the pass rusher Call them from hospital after just having a baby and said they're telling us that My wife has to take this certain formula. All we wanna do is breastfeed. The baby baby had some jaundice. Hospital said you need to do. Have this formula. Whatever it was. So he didn't know who to call he. Called urban meyer and urban meyer fixed it and and i wrote about that this morning and the moral of the story is urban. Meyer feels like he needs to be there for his players. As people so that during games they'll be there for him and for the franchise And play without reservation All play all for one one for all that kind of stuff. So he's doing his best to try to build the family aspect of it. But dan you know when i know That how can you tell if a guy is going to be able to take all the losing that you're going to have to take in the preseason already. One of his veterans had to come up to him after the first game taken by the shoulders kind of gently shake him and say hey coach it's an f. in preseason game and so anyway i guess my whole point about this is you know it's august twenty third and i don't know how he's gonna take losing. He says he's going to be okay. He's talked to jimmy johnson about one in fifteen felt like so. We understand that that's going to happen. But i think he is trying his best to build a roster of players and coaches who care for each other so that when times get tough and they will they're not gonna splinter. When do you make your super bowl pick. I don't know a of weeks i dunno. It's how do you not pick kansas city in tampa. I don't know it's very lazy. pick. But i don't know dan you know they both look pretty good and the bills look good too so you never know but.

"Clearly he knows what's going on as far as players and put jerry players but the problem is in. Afc you got all these teams with these young dynamic quarterbacks already ahead of him the bills on going anywhere in the next five years. The chiefs aren't going anywhere in the next five years. The ravens aren't going anywhere in the next five years. even the bengals have their their quarterback. I just keep looking but riding around in there. I'm just saying we're not going. We're talking about with the bills bills. The exact that's the blueprint right. The no but i bills were bad. I'll five years from now. These teams already are head of them. I understand but look the bills or bad for twelve thirteen years. They bring this coaching staff long brand being and they start drafting and the at they have a defense offense line. Run the football and the first two years. Josh allen was not particularly good and then by the time he figures it out now they're perennial playoff team right. We're looking at the bills through a lens of today and we're not looking at it this. No it was like when these guys took over. I get that. But i'm telling you if you're talking about the next five years don't see jaguars jumping over any of these teams in the afc championship. That's all you can help us out though. He's talking about young dynamic quarterbacks. Isn't that the way we've you trevor lawrence. Maybe not now but in terms of as a prospect and as a potential like he's he's he's i think he's forgetting they got trevor lawrence's that one guy that everybody wants to save for five years from now. That's all i can say this. I had multiple. Nfl scouts tell me last year during the college football season that lawrence was every keeps saying at good prospect as as. Look y'all table multiple scouts. Somebody he's better prospects as good a prospect since a guy named elway. So you're starting from that point right there. Okay when you start with him in the league now if if he failed the failed but if you're starting at that point and he gets better every season he is a player. Everyone thinks he's going to be. That was going to be very very good at five years. Were also couple weeks way from college. Football matt i gotta have you on my show dot com. I'm ready. I know you're ready as well. Would you have wanted skateboarding in the olympics back. Then i'm sure i was never against it. I obviously skateboarding gave me so much as as a youth and and shaved my identity and my way of looking at things. But at the same time i wasn't covering it i wasn't like this is our thing and no one else can see it. I was always wondering why wasn't more popular in so to have had any olympics back then would have been a great boost. I think and I would've loved to join the fun too. Because i didn't know how it felt like the x. Games when they came along it felt like that was the anti olympics. But did you know. There are certain sports that maybe didn't want to be in mainstream. Did you did your you understand that. But i think there's a population of scares feel the absolutely Am ones that do coveted. And don't don't want that and did start skating because it was their antithesis to team sports. I just never felt that way But i do think the x. Games what i loved about x. games they let us be our sir irreverent selves and so sometimes the rules were pushed in terms of letting some go back in time or letting someone go way off script and jump off the course or do something. That wasn't in the confines of the Competitive of rulebook and we knew going to the olympics. That wouldn't fly. What did you see in tokyo. I saw some of the best gating. I saw a whole new generation of skaters. The are at the top of the game. And i saw after the fact a lot more interest in skateboarding in terms of international embracing of it. How would you have done at fifteen. I think i would pretty well. I turn provence fourteen. The that's the thing. There's a whole whole Misperception that all these like what happened. All these kids are young and that's been happening forever. I mean i turned promos fourteen. I wanted my first world championships in us. Fifteen nicer houston was considered the best skater when he was thirteen. So it's not a great surprise. I didn't think it would be across the entire podium but it just shows that they not only had the skills atta strategy. What did you do like. Is there something about being young. That makes you a even. I don't know if it's being fearless. But what is it about being fourteen or fifteen years of age and being great at skateboarding as opposed to if you were twenty five. I think the resilience that can bounce back from from big falls maybe a little easier and in terms of the park event which is more the the bowl transition skating That it's it's the size of that is not the usual size like what ice skate vert ramp vert ramps about thirteen to fourteen feet tall. Those ramps are closer to ten and if your size is suitable for that you can actually utilize better and so the younger kids have a slight advantage in terms of how they can go much higher because the ball up and get up there. If this was a game of operation where we got to see your body how many broken bones would we. We have in that. That game operate way by hotspot on your body that A little bit more surgery well-served knees with surgeries but nothing broken on my knees Luckily i broke my elbow. I wrote my pelvis and dislocated my fingers last year. That's why these so fat. Okay but at what point do you not get on that scale. You're you're going to be fifty three or you turn fifty three. I think and okay. So at what point do you go. I don't know if i can get on the skateboard here. i think. I don't know if i'll ever reached that point. I may reach a point where i don't wanna do it in public. So there's probably a moment where i think you know what maybe today's not the day to show off. Well i was wondering how old is too old to get on his skateboard. But you're saying as long as nobody sees it then. I can get on with the rest of my line if an elderly man steps on a skateboard..

Great to see you as well You know a lot of you know about this document was was information than in in having a conversation and that was big for me. It went about ten years. At the debris happening we had to go through a credible amount of legal problem house. You know civil law suzanne. We we can talk much about it. And honestly i didn't really wanna talk much about it to be completely honest and then the stained just kept being anniversary. You know and it's like anniversary anniversary. And i knew that information out there that was never talked about And ios one of those things. Where i finally just took some time out to interview. Just directors producers to kind of talk about you know could be put together dot that zhou Alienate a league. That i care so much about or you know the pacers or anybody else that i care a lot about But really just to have the conversation for the first time so people get a different perspective and see just how. The narrative was changed And i thought you know This doc told everyone the when you hear from the fans who are involved in this. Did you interview any of those fans. No no so one days. I wanted to do on the dock and i had the same you know. Thank you to netflix. for vision. Understand division the way brothers Was directed phenomenal. job will capture in You know My job was to have the conversation to give people were there to talk to come on not told him. You know talk candidly. The fans himself never had any contact with them. Hell to be honest and We shot this dot. I never even sold stephen jackson tests. We shot it. All in different locations or been wireless for reggie miller. We shot a separately. Guys wanted to speak openly about it mainly because we want to put this into bed. So people can stop having anniversaries and talk madonna. Anybody not want to be a part of it. Everybody wanted to be part of it. I got shout out to rasheed wallace And and larry brown. We actually didn't did not make the final cut because only had our eight minutes to put Information in there so we're gonna lose some sort of information but everybody wanted to be a part of it Was i think everybody understood it. A you have to understand too. Dan is that when you bought the process like that Seventeen years ago. It seems like it's been two lifetimes ago but people still talking about it. You know it's a lot. It's a lot of things out. There is no real template to how you deal with you know player fan involved right and and from the perspective of a business would nba. You know is a is a real business. Multibillion dollar business You know you have to react And they reacted And and two point rightfully so but I just didn't over a period of time on start to calm down opportunities to talk more about some of the details stuff. That actually happened in asti show. You know what what in the world was going on in that arena night. But did you feel like there was something bad going to happen before something bad happened that night no ban. i mean. obviously we've had. We've had you know it was a robbery of between us and in the pistons always intense but then you have extent like you expect to go into tough environments. That's what makes pro sports what it is is. It's a great relation between fans and players on you to oppose and end the two teams that are playing are projected to represent that conference possibly an nba finals. It's not there's no love and in an environment. But i never thought at any point that i will be wearing the jersey and all of a sudden Know from know from my wellbeing feeling like though when you realize there's a fan right in front of you and he and he wants a piece of you do you do even think. Can i defend my my allowed to defend myself. Even though he's on the basketball court with you walk potatoes. I can tell you. I mean you go through a process of just trying to you know go from understanding you go from you. Know excited about beating defending champions. We feel good about ourselves going to a point where hey was looking at. What's going on. And then he go. You go to a pointer survival mode where people now starting to touch you people. Now starting to spill mean people are now starting with danes and all of a sudden it is a court full of people on a very service that we we should been protected on and I've i've had this conversation. A ton over the last two weeks about leadership by leadership is is where you hear lot in sports in life and leadership is typically in workplace right or maybe even at home. But you don't hear very much conversation about leadership when it comes down to protecting yourself and others in a situation that is compromising by and that's the thing that people have to understand your position with is i'm gonna have to protect myself and others in a situation where we don't have anybody in the building trying to protect us and there was limited security there that night and you know that added to this. I'm what was it like in the locker.

Whatever you get your podcast as more blencoe. Let's bring in the hall of famer. Charley steiner seventeen seasons as the dodgers play by play voice. So name five seventy sports. Chaz good to have you back. What was the atmosphere like there. The last two nights it was fun it was electric. The first game fans were angry. Obey there is an open hostility and then when they got down three zip and we had more inflatable trash cans. I've ever seen in my life usually when there's a home run a ball thrown back onto the field. There were foul balls that were thrown back onto the field so the first game. It was a little bit dicey last night for a change in fact the players and their bats. The did most of the talking so both of the nice were dramatic and theatrical last night. In hollywood where they're always strived for happy ending at long last there was but also. I wonder if winning a world series has diffused this just a little bit for dodger fans not right it but it was fascinating because one of the beauties of working at dodger stadium homefield advantage. It's visually spectacular ball bar. The sunset sustained gabriel. Mountains are off in the distance and yet fifty two thousand each the first two nights the first night there was air of trepidation. After being shut out in the first game last night max scherzer shows up. Have gun will travel. He might have been paladin and the way he came and did his business. The dodgers were in desperate need of a win. They were feeling awful about the previous night. and then there was this sense of okay now. It's the players turn to speak their vengeance and they did so with their bats in the crowd was a little while. I can't say subdued a little more gentlemanly last night than they were in the first night but there were two terrific the actual game between two terrific teams who forged in the world series in seventeen so it was great. Great theater and sherzer just turned in one of those performances. So that you if you ever needed reminding of how great this guy is and how he is able to withstand and even embraced the pressure of the moment it was a. It was a brilliant athletic theatrical production last night how do you think history will treat the astros. Not well i think at the end of the day they will always had that scarlet letter and in this town now. I don't know if it's one in one way or they're just tied for first between now to rasco The booze were genuine. They were visceral the other guys. They were politely booed because they're the other team but those two guys they really got it at at last night. When sherzer began the game by striking out out to they are enemy number. One out here the place when crackers and that was the scene. That was the feel. That was the vibe throughout the night so it was great great theater. What are the dodgers issues right. Now they have to figure out when kershaw gets back they have to solidify their bullpen. Some you know they. They still haven't gotten a trade turner to arrive as yet but last night. For instance dan sherzer comes back after his spectacular performance. And it was you know it was hotel qualities as kennywood said he comes back to the dugout and he is greeted by clayton. Kershaw mckee beds albert. Who holds i mean. It was a star studded attraction greeting him all the years. I've been doing it. I've been working with rick. Monday now for seventeen years we're talking about. I had never seen a pitcher receive a curtain call. Usually when he is finished he goes into the dugout. Gets his high five goes about his business last night. It was curtain call and he was pushed out by whoever. Oh it just happened to be clayton. Kershaw it was one of those magical moments i swear. I don't ever remember a pitcher. After a performance after coming out of the game ben getting hurt recall so it. It really was a magical electric charismatic last night. What can you sum up..

Mattingly eight and a day-long and joey votto joins us on the program. Good to have you back joy. Did you know what the record was. With consecutive games with a home run. I knew after gave him three. I was locked in on the record from game. Three every single thing in about hitting a home run really no known until about game six. I can't imagine you would be going. Yeah i'm sitting dead read. I'm gonna hit a home run tonight. Well i do think that often. But no out about game six i was flooded with. Are you gonna do it. Give it to us tonight. So it was wonderful to feel that support. You change anything. In what way. Your approach geared badge that. Hey i got a chance to do something like game. Seven or game eight like going up there going if i hit my eighth. I'm like i'm in there with some pretty good company. Mattingly and ken griffey june. You well i have mattingly. Don mattingly and ken griffey junior number. I didn't know until a couple days before that dale long had had hit eight in a row. I was thinking about sending out like a group text. One when i got to game eight like just a little winky winky or something like that. Like i'm coming for you was yours now. It's mind sort of thing but no every every day every every bad. I thinking about homering. I wanted that sucker so badly. What about in you missed by couple inches with an eighth consecutive games. Yeah story my life or by the way. I didn't know that you were dubbed. The most interesting man in baseball did who dubbed you. The most interesting man in no nobody nobody was. It was an article. I don't drink so you know. It's not a dose. Akis thing but no i don't i wouldn't consider myself that at all. Do you have to be sociable. At first base as a first baseman be you have to be unless unless unless the hitter unless it's the opposing pitcher or unless the the batter got on by air. Then you don't be sociable. Then you gotta stay mum but yeah if somebody gets the first base usually. It's a good good thing for them. Walk base hit some sort of stinging line drive. You have to compliment them so the answer is you got to be sociable. You gotta you gotta compliment them and then roll from their out. Now people get the first base and ask for loans so you can't be too friendly. You can't be friendly at first. But like clayton kershaw. If he got to first base no conversation while no couple years ago he got the first base claims very friendly. And you know you're to be pretty friendly when you're the best pitcher every year. So you know. He got into first base. There was a pitch. I took that was probably a fringe strike and he ended up being ball for and he said. Would you think about that bitch. And i said it was a strike. And he said. I thought so too. You know that's the baddest maximum of our conversations when it comes to ball on at first base but talk to rookies at all of course. Of course you know. I'm usually trying to learn a thing or two from them. I know it sounds silly. But i feel like i've learned so much over the past couple of years from from the younger generation so the answer is absolutely yes. We had a debate the other day and two of my guys here. So i had my producer paulie aside and he wanted your career as a future hall of famer and then mclovin who's a philadelphia phillies apologised took bryce harper. So that was the debate. Yeah yeah well i mean. Bryce is one of my favorite players. I mean he's he's he's going to be a special player and you know but Do you think your whole good. Do i think i am i. Have you done enough. Probably not yet. No i i think they. I've heard that you have to get to at least two thousand hits and i haven't gotten there yet so i don't think i'm there yet. No well i think it ended where we made some really strong points for you. It was just bryce. I think is ten years younger than you. So i'm assuming he's going to add to his totals they're showing. Yeah yeah well. I mean yeah. Yeah i've got ten years of salary accrued before you know. He's collected a lot more money than he has. It'll be okay. it'll be just fine. Yeah yeah. I know how is baseball different than when you started. What was that. Oh seven you start is lower. It's slower the players are better. The game is faster. Were more were just better in general but the game has gotten a little bit slower. And i think that's i don't know exactly why you know more walks more strikeouts. The athletes are better. It's it's i. Don't i guess you're not asking if it's better or worse how is it different. It's just it's just a little bit slower. I remember getting games done in about two hours and forty-five minutes two hours and fifty five minutes and now it's three zero five. Three fifteen more home runs for sure more strikeouts. The pitchers tougher so much tougher. I mean when i came up a guy coming out of the bullpen. Throwing ninety five was thrown petrol. And now if he's throwing one hundred five you're thinking yourself okay. This guy's throwing really hard. So that's probably the that's probably the biggest difference. But you're a throwback though because you're you're batting average guy like you you believe in putting the bat on the ball and not. Hey either a homeowner i strike out. Would you be different now if you were coming up.

"Right well he'll if that's the case if if the roster is not conducive to being able to play amongst the elites there he has decision to me. Is there a possibility. Is ben simmons involved in in this equation of that may be dame could end up in philadelphia. I don't like to do talk. Radio throw out crazy trade proposals. But ben simmons is available. The question is who wants him. What do you do with a and what do you have to give up to get him. Could you see. Ben simmons in portland sea ben simmons in portland damon philly or just being some or ben simmons in portland in cj mccollum philadelphia. Like do you see a scenario where portland is interested in. Ben simmons. I would think yeah i would think. There's some interest in. Ben simmons on portland side but i'm not sure at the cost of cj and if portland is thrown in cj. I think it's going to take a little bit more to get bin simmons so with that being said. I don't see the philly portland as a right now affiliate portland. They ain't transpire Where do you see. Ben simmons going as a question you look at look at the teams that are being ruined when you talk about minnesota sacramento. These are good teams of these are teams that are you know our young and they're still trying to players. You don't hear a lot of a top notch teams. You know clamor to get business right now. But i think he's got to go to a place where he can sort of not hide but he needs to go where there's a little less pressure on every game. Every moment every shot every free throw and like i said orlando like let him go and let him run a team. Because we've seen embiid is not in there. He's a different player. And i just wonder if he got away and got into a situation. Minnesota's not right for him sacramento's not going to be right for him. But i would think one of these other teams where he could sort of houston like he could sort of run the team a little bit that. That's what i'd be curious about well. Those teams like i still put minnesota sacramento into those teams. That you mentioned the dp because there won't be the hot there won't be the spotlight on him in those in those areas we've talked about philly s one of the biggest markets where the fan base is just so intense that if you're playing poorly they're gonna let you know and they're gonna let you know like nobody else has ever let you know so. He needs to get into an environment where he can pat. Mistakes still develop as great as he is. That believes a two time all star one. The best defensive player. We haven't nestle. But he has a lot of development to grow. And i think he's going to reach his full potential right now. If he's online those lower market teams which will have a lot of spotlight. Only him where he can make mistakes and still try to prosper. What do you think the media is gonna do. React to chris paul if the sun's don't win this nba championship. I mean is going to be. It's going to be tough man. You know we. We've seen chris. Paul play at a high level fizzle out towards the end. His best run before. This point was in houston. We got the conference finals. He was a hamstring away from advancing. And now they're up to all. This would just amplify all the talk of people saying that. Chris paul Get it done in time. Clutch moments that are still a lot of time left him the rectify that but is going to be a bad. Look if the sun's aren't able to get this done it's always great to catch up with you chris..

So maybe i'll make the trip me nice all right. We've been talking about this. Tom brady situation that the report is that he played on a fully. Torn mc l. the entire season what what are gamblers. What information should they be getting here like would is the nfl going to go after tampa bay with his information that just come out. It's a fair question. Because i think we've always known the injure ports have related to gambling right like i. I don't think that's been a big secret. Although the nfl could never actually say that over the last thirty forty years however long. It's been since they've done that. But i do think that now that it's out in the open a little bit more and the league is more free to speak about this stuff and because they're going to be doing partnerships with casinos. I think i might be mistaken about. I think a couple teams already have those like the caesar's partnerships and everything else. Maybe they're going to get a little more serious about it. Because in the past i think they worked with teams on these things and try to make sure that at least competitively. It was equitable from team to team. But now that you're actually out in the open doing partnerships with gambling companies. And maybe there will be a little bit of a shift It'll be interesting to see. Because i do know and i can tell you this flat out. Dan like brady doesn't like his injuries being on that report like he would do when he was in new england. Do whatever it took to make sure that those injuries wouldn't be on the report and you know played with ligament damage in his hand in two thousand and thirteen play with a separated shoulder in two thousand eleven. Play through a lot of stuff..

"Sports. Names like who who the the fans want and performs the best should get the most opportunities it going. Thanks we we. We cover sports media like like. This is a huge issue. Who anchors this or that show like those shows. Don't do very well right like it's the most prominent position. Espn has to offer fans like tune out for that part to show and then tune in for the game like i. I think the nba's different though right because there's this there's these two polar tnt studio crew is incredible. I will watch a game. Just so i can watch them after a game right. We're as espn. The game broadcast is fantastic. And they've had so much turnover in their studio crew because they want so badly to be tnt so normal circumstance. I understand. i agree with you in terms of the numbers. I agree with you. But in this sport the studio shows are important because t made important because of the quality of content earliest the ease of of taking in their content. You get from watching. I mean future of media is going to be reaching young people on phones. This is all just a conversation. Baseball's like old people are gonna watch this right And i don't think it really matters the business. It's just it's the pinnacle of what. Espn isn't a typical of what in bristol. Produce to they want it to seem really important their big salaries for this. But it's like like compared to what happens on instagram. If nothing. "Threes not. He plays like he did in in game five. Well if you're honest is on the floor and you put the andrea a on yawn. What you're gonna do right. Jay crowd is gonna guard brick lopez in brook. Lopez will not get the ball. I do not trust bud. I don't and i don't like to go after coaches. That's not really my thing. I have respect for but like the. I just don't see adjustments in milwaukee. And i don't know if that's janas personality and i know sometimes coaches and i've been here doug you've been here to the coaches tell us. Hey guys rebound hey shared. A basketball does things in as a player. We just don't do it. We can go on the floor. Maybe it's not but maybe it's butts communication. Maybe it's the players choice to receive what he has to say. But i don't see adjustments made in milwaukee that i see the sons make and if it comes down to iq which a lot of it is. I don't think it's just going to be a physical contest. I don't think this is like you know the nets versus the bucks were johnson. Just more physical. He was taller faster. And all that than any defender On on the nets. I think that the i q shifts with the phoenix suns. And that's going to be the difference. And i think it gets ugly dunk. It gets ugly and he's game where it gets ugly just in terms of series wins. I think it gets ugly in terms of series wins. I think even if you're honest was playing. I give yana say You know a one more win for the bucks. But i just think it's going to be tough and i don't think that that's a bad supporting cast cast even without jaanus. I mean jrue holiday when you put the ball in his hands. We've seen what he can do. He spectacular chris. Milkins can step up and at least be a superstar for a game or two or in his shown up in big game. So i don't know why. There's not more respect on his name and i we talked about it and we see brook. Lopez's still has some gas in the tank. You know when you actually given the basketball and post them up so even without janas this this the bucks still heavy enough. I just don't think they're together enough or coach well enough or maybe there's not synergy. Maybe buck buck calling them buck. But he's put out the most excellent game plan on the planet but it's just not being received for some reason. Well i i look. I think it's a really well put together. You remember that. Pj tucker as well. There's there's all kinds of there's some versatility there bobby. Well i agree with you. That there's a lack of that there. A lack of Maybe diversity in his game planning you know all those things are in fact accurate and it'll be. It'll be a big challenge to him. You know to to not get out coached by mani ways. My ways been incredible in the okay. So here's the question. If whoever wins the championship. Is there an asterisk by because there's been so many different injuries. Yeah yeah the. There's a big one for one not just the injuries but for to like. I said like. I'm not going to step away from this. Neither you and say that the best player on the planet won a championship. If you're honest was fully healthy. They win a championship. Little kevin durant still better like on a west side with the some light. Lebron is still better. You know he just didn't have a d. That's how i'm gonna feel lebron james and the best player in western conference this year. Okay even off of an injury even a little slower. I would take him over anybody on the sons and kevin durant is the best player on the ace. I would take him over anybody there. And i'm not gonna feel the same way even if chris middleton goes off and he's and he's the best version of himself every single game of this playoffs. I'm not gonna feel that way. The only only person who may be able to sway me a little bit. Who may sway. But i don't think i'm gonna push. The needle is devon booker. Because he's so he's so he's so much fun to watch. But i'm not ready to say devon booker lebron james. I'm not ready to feel that way. Doug ready to say no of moments where devon booker can crossover into kind of. I don't think it'd be a superstar but into true star category. He's the true star. True best player. You know whereas chris paul is kind of the maestro. It's it's a different way of being a being a superstar for chris paul. No you're right. It is and i and i play. Chris and i think we talked about this. There's like the happy. The perfect mix for chris with the signs and last year with the thunder where you know he and james harden word you know. I don't want to say to close in age but to close in. I guess stardom where they both looked at each other and like will you haven't won a championship. No you haven't won a championship. You don't play defense all the time and you don't play like there. Were too close to compete in christmas. So competitive that it kind of rubs off on teammate. Sometimes and you know with blake. Obviously there were holes in blake's game. They didn't always get along but i think from a leadership perspective. It's a great mix of. I know i'm older. I need you guys. You guys need me and it really really works for chris. Paul and he knows he's going in with the right game plan. I don't think he's expecting to score forty points every single night in the finals. He's like well. If you need me. I'll do that. Otherwise let's win it as a team. And i think that it's a much better space for chris paul to being as a leader and i think it's really cool to watch but i'm not ready to knowing either of those guys are the best player the doug no. I think what what chris paul can do. Right is and he showed the other night where what he he's best at is getting everybody involved k. And occasionally scoring himself. Yes but he does have that he just reads the game and the game needs to scoring. He can give you thirty in that case. Give you forty most nights. He's gonna just give you twenty but he's going to get everybody else feeling better. And then he defends at the other end. It's a hard thing for people to conceptualize the i. Here's here's the difference. Chris paul and like a trae. Young right Chris paul can play well and score ten twelve points. He can play gracious. You know whereas for trae young play great. He's got score. Twenty five or thirty. Is that trace fault though. Like let's say let's say. Tree had devon booker or devon booker esque player. you know let's say cam reddish becomes what he's projected to be can trae young have a good game scoring ten points or do you not think he's that he's committed to the correct play role of like. Hey my job is district distribute right now. Because that's what's as I just think they're different players. They're wired differently and fewer and fewer guys are going to be wired the way that chris. Paul is wired because of how we teach basketball at a young age. That's that's to me what it comes down to. I don't i do. I think there should be a mental asterisk. I do the problem with it is there just isn't right. It's like like when the pistons finally took down the celtics. Larry bird didn't play labor in a bad back. He play in that series. Like no no one kind of mentions it. 'cause it's you know at thirty five years after the fact you know there was one of the one of the years where the pistons won in the in the finals. The the lakers. All kinds of injuries and magic was was playing injured as well. The spurs have won championships on shortened seasons because of lockouts right and no one ever mentions those now ever so we have seen that before so maybe in the short term they'll be an astra's but in the long-term out like this is no one can ever take it away when you're a champion champion. They just can't will they contextualized. Maybe get into the font like no one will ever take take it away. I think for chris paul to finally get there for you honest to finally get there and to potentially win one. Whoever wins one will reap all the general normal rewards. Even if mentally right now we know it's been a very weird season where more stars.
