"I have a very special guest who's had Very traumatic life. She was raised with forty years of emotional abuse from a narcissistic mother but through her heart. Perseverance and determination. She's found her way back to a fulfilling life today. Joining me on. My show is a very special self love coach. Kimberly cook who has used the skills of resilience emotional intelligence in self awareness to create a twenty four seven support system and step by step process to help survivors become thrive hours. Kimberly join us on the show. Today you're welcome. It's great to be here. You're here all the way from australia. From adelaide yes yes. I am so welcome. Welcome welcome I wanted to ask you if you wouldn't mind for the audience telling us about yourself and your story in how you became the self love coach in how you have the self love project. How did that all begin. I'm will growing up I didn't realize. I had a narcissistic mother because it didn't know what the word was you know growing up a was just emotionally demented by her Throughout my life. Until i was thirty six she sort of set me up to file in law. If i didn't i didn't have boundaries You know she didn't teach them to me. She made me live by them. But not allowed me to have my own voice and and stuff like that and You know a be thirty six years old and i. I just couldn't take it anymore. She had completely try to control. My life You basically fell in love with my husband tried to do my children and Just took them and just cut off contact with my hometown. Family which then led to me for many many years after that to Leaving out a self abuse. Because i didn't know what was wrong with me. What i deviated to learn a lot about nazism. And and then i just went through the process of Of healing myself at the tolerant knowing what to do and Dimona ten forty nine was not living on this anymore and i it would break my heart to see people suffer through united just being bullied or getting into a relationship that they could get out of. That was unhappy and many many people live with you know without so flow because we were talking back. Then you know you've got to do things for others and put others before you can so clogged was really thing. It was locked tough and often Not i believe that anymore and so flood is very confusing to people. That aren't really what it is. They should be doing To release their trauma and emotional baggage. Because it's very heavy. Yes very very heavy. So let's let's back up just a moment for the audience who might not really understand but because your years of figuring it out you now know what is a north narcissist pathological narcissist. What are some the traits that if someone is in a relationship that's abusive or heart and they don't know what Had noticed the signs explain. What narcissist is well. You know it someone huge encroaches your boundaries or. Do things for them that you don't want to do and they have no consideration. And but it's a continual thing it's Something that although law though tell you a blatant lachey face and then although tell you something and you don't hang on a minute and then you feed that back to them and the dow you know they'll be lucky. That's not what i said. Or that's not what i did or and so then you just become long magor mart laar crazy. Did i just make that open. You know and then when this happens all the time you know you really end up questioning very own self. you're your you're your mentality and There's a different level of narcissism having as a parrot because they're the people that bring you into the world you know other is someone who gave birth to you so you would think i'd be the one to protect julian Not you an and teach you to be strong and You know my mom didn't do any of that and make bad choices and then not pick narcissistic men. So i want gain on. I couldn't have a voice and was A choice alcoholics And things like that and so the stock who just sort of went on and you know when when when someone is emotionally abusing you and putting down and Barking orders it. You and stuff like that. What happens is you. You didn't turn laws and so you instantly emotionally abusing yourself

Aus Open Day 6 - Silent, subdued, but intriguing

"Think today day six over the twenty twenty one australian open the first fully crowd list day. I think today was the new year's eve house party that you feel you have to gauge new year's eve show up. You do the rounds for a couple of hours and then you sneak off to a bedroom and go to sleep or it's just the hangover the day after we sit there and just drink cups of tea and no answer any calls the hanger day off to the the banging nights out the ends in where you're just gonna sort of pick up pieces and clear mass. Yes i came. That may be works better. And wait for your next party in a day's time it's the regroup day. It's fresh as week when you when in my case you have one thing and you're saying that's it you can just have a normal week and then you gotta do again the next night but so what you do. Is you just insert little arrests days. Yeah don't understand human beings. The enjoyed fresh week genuinely look back and say i enjoyed freshers week. I didn't understand human level so they walk among us. Catherine apparently say it's not but i didn't enjoy today i just dino it it just i mean there were no crowds. We need the. We're going to be crowds that that was a shame How how much. How much was the fact that there were no quarrel to contributing factor. To the fact that today was a was a bit of a dump squib. I mean this has been the dump squib hof of proceedings burnett. We've we've we've made to conceal that on the podcast. You know there have been highlights will will big those up as best we can on today's pod but how. How much was it the crowd. I think it was definitely parts of it in that. You know we're all. I did feel a bit of a downer just because yesterday was so exhilarating and and it has been such a lovely failing to have crowd noise again. Because we've we've been went out and delivered this last week so that that was in the back of mind. I mean there were moments. I compensated in the way that i would've done with the crowd and then there was silence and i had to say oh i forgot. There's nobody here quite open because it's you might as well just be honest and admit it's weird. It is weird at the same time. I feel like for people like us certainly me anyway. I shouldn't speak few too. But i just i'm so i love watching sport so much when it's when it's tied and when the stakes are high the not having the crowd gives me something else and we. We definitely tapped into that at the us open and through some of the other events because kind of we. We didn't have any choice. It's either embrace that or be down about it all and if you actually listen and watch especially today as this was the first match i've ever seen of nadal at a grand slam. We had the two but at a grand slam especially with the little question marks about the back and all that sort of thing and being being pushed as hard as come pasha possibly push him. I loved just watching dow compete in this role style without any cut-away as to the crowd or anything just so pule to be out to. I felt like a like a sneaked into private match and could just watch. And and so i got something from that and i was intrigued by some of the matches exhilerated. Not really and it is. It is more pure than other slam tennis or any tennis that we've seen without crowds because they weren't prepared for this. There's no attempt to conceal the empty seats. There's no crowd noise track on standby it is exposed before your eyes and is

How do you know you're not to the alternative minimum tax and i. I don't know. But i don't wanna be so i'm gonna click. No and that was decided to get. I know that's not the move but whatever so that was the year we decided to get down true story true story. it's probably a good decision anyway So to twitter for this next question. And and here's the deal. Matt black wanted to know about what happened last week with treasury secretary. Steve mnuchin and j pal sts so mnuchin. The outgoing secretary of the treasury and jay although the fed chair have worked really closely together for Three years whatever. Two years that palestine chair And mnuchin said at the end of last week. Listen i'm going take back. Four hundred and fifty billion dollars in cares. Act money that you. The fed had been using to backstop a bunch of loans to businesses in this economy. And and powell. It became clear Was not pleased with that. And he said. I'll do it but only because the law says only because you say the law says that you have to do this And so what. Matt black wanted to know on twitter was would something like this betra- by treasury be normal or not normal in a transition and really it's just it's it's so not normal. In addition to many other things that the outgoing administration is doing to handicapped. The incoming biden administration This is hugely not normal because what it has effectively done by taking this money. Back and putting it into the treasury's general fund Secretary mnuchin has left the incoming treasury secretary who we believe is going to be. Janet yellen the former fed chair. And i know this august confusing you know revolving door wise It leaves would not a whole lot of options to support the federal reserve without having to go back to congress and ask for more money and as we all know regular listening to marketplace or readers of newspapers or websites or anything. We'll know congress has not been forthcoming with more aid for this economy since march so yellen and pallor kind of a jam because mnuchin decided to do this very not normal thing on the way you know. Yeah yeah well. I mean lots of not normal on that same topic. Actually we got this other voice memo from arianna for minnesota with the announcement of janet yellen as biden's potential pick for treasury secretary. I'm wondering if you can help. Make me smart on the difference between treasury secretary and chair the fed. I'm not really sure. I know the difference yet and he helped you can provide would be great. Thanks yeah i mean you wanna take the you want to take the first part of that. Sure so that the main difference is well gutter so many..

"From wondering, I've David Brown and this is business wars daily on this Wednesday August twenty sixth we'll talk about an exclusive club the only members allowed into the Dow, Jones Industrial? Average. Are The thirty most stalwart icons of the American economy names like Home Depot Microsoft McDonald's Johnson and Johnson Caterpillar Goldman Sachs and until next Monday. Exxon Mobil. That's right. The Dow is throwing Exxon out not long ago such a move would have been unthinkable. The multibillion dollar oil company is the longest standing member of the Dow. It was first listed in October of nineteen. Twenty eight. The. Dow's leaders announced their choice to boot Exxon late, Monday the move is so remarkable that Bloomberg called it a stunning fall from grace for the giant oil company. Is Twenty Thirteen Exxon Mobil was the world's largest publicly traded company according to CNBC. But now in the flash of time that has been the Kobe pandemic traditional oil companies have fallen out of favor as oil revenues and profits. Sink investors are spurning energy businesses. As we've reported here. Recently, Exxon has been foundering as the green economy becomes more and more important to global consumers. Bloomberg reports that exodus is now valued at only one, hundred, eighty, billion dollars A. Drop of forty percent just since New Year's and even more sense it's half a trillion dollar valuation in two thousand seven. You could say Exxon's worth is plunged as deep as one of its offshore drills like whack-a-mole when a company is pushed off the Dow, another one jumps up to replace it. In this case the Dow kicked out three businesses, Exxon? Mobil pharmaceutical company Pfizer and Raytheon. Technologies like Exxon Raytheon is also a dow old timer it was first. Listed in nineteen, thirty, nine, swapping into those slots are salesforce dot COM tech company specializing in customer relationship management. The Dow also added Biotech Company Amgen and industrial conglomerate Honeywell International. This is the Dow's biggest shakeup in seven years, not surprisingly the share prices of the three companies joining the Dow was Tuesday for the three kicked off the island. Well, you guessed it share prices fell. There's a much bigger strategy here than simply reflecting Exxon's ill fortunes the Dow. Index of American blue chip stocks was invented by Charles Dow and ninety four, two years later down his partner Edward Jones surely you know that name publish their first list of a dozen blue chip stocks ever since the Dow has served as a benchmark the standard intended to measure the strength or weakness of the US. Stock Market for that reason, it's leaders sometimes shuffled membership in the Dow to reflect the changing makeup in value of the entire stock market. And for that matter, the entire American economy currently, information technology makes up almost thirty percent of the value of the economy. Tech stocks are the stars next in importance are healthcare companies, which comprise almost fifteen percent of the economy's value. Energy stocks have dropped so low that only two and a half percent of the economy's worth comes from oil and gas today CNBC reports. That's as measured by an index of America's five hundred largest publicly traded companies the S. and P.. Five. Hundred another player made a move this week that started this whole chest came apple last Wednesday apple became the first American company valued more than two trillion dollars not surprisingly its stock price has been skyrocketing got an extra five hundred bucks a share in your pocket to lower that price apple decided to do a four for one stock split when it does. So next Monday it share price will fall to about one hundred, twenty, five dollars its valuation will remain the same. That's getting a little technical. So here's the bottom line. The Dow was waited by share price when apple share price drops the Dow's entire category of information technology will fall as well. That means the Dow's IT Group of stocks won't accurately reflect the. American. Economy which today is powered by Tech Moreover, investors in the Dow already haven't been doing nearly as well as investors in tech heavy index is like the Nasdaq. For the Dow that was a problem waiting to be fixed, which is where salesforce dot com comes in and Exxon goes away. SALESFORCE has grown exponentially since two thousand, nine Bloomberg reports and at twenty one years old. It's practically no geezer among Silicon Valley firms making it just iconic enough for the Dow adding salesforce to the Dow, pushes it back to its proper place in the index at least that's what the Dow's leaders argue the other swaps are intended to help the Dow. Better. Reflect the prominence of healthcare in the economy and the strength of certain industrial stocks. But let's not lose the meaning for Exxon Mobil remember a few weeks ago when we told you Exxon's mammoth British rival BP announced it will make a multibillion dollar investment in green energy is share price rose Exxon however is doubling down on traditional oil exploration despite big losses. So far that's not a winning strategy. Its earnings numbers don't lie and neither does the message that comes from being disinvited by America's oldest.

We've got a shakeup in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. We're going to talk about the basket approach to invest in, but we're going to start today with best buy. Online sales in best buy second quarter grew two, hundred, forty percent. And profit and revenue in the second quarter were higher than expected. But once again, online sales year-over-year up two hundred, forty percent. The numbers just keep getting bigger for these retailers in terms of their online sales growth. Shares at best buy or down about five percent today. But Jason I feel like this is. The home electronics and appliances version of what we saw last week with Home Depot and Lowe's. Putting upgrade numbers. Socks the stock selling off the day of the report impart because in the case of best buy, it's had pretty amazing. Run up seventy percent in the past year. And I mean it wasn't all that long ago. I mean a lot of us. Not just at the fool, but I mean in. The funds financial community investing community. We're looking at best buy as a pretty ideal short candidate right thinking. Okay. Well, we're now entering this new Amazon. World. Has Best by going to survive this in A. Fast forward to today clearly, they have survived they've done very well it's been a good year for the stock. It's been a good pass year for the stock. Good year to date. And I think the silver lining for a lot of businesses during this pandemic, it's given them a chance to redefine themselves maybe to hit the reset button a little bit in an effort to prove their mettle in in what is likely going to be a new world going forward at least to some extent and to that point I mean we saw there's an interesting perspective on the call from. CEO. Corey Zubi Subaru who said that she she noted three concepts they believe are going to be permanent structural. Changes implications from this pandemic in one customer shopping behavior will be permanently changed in a way that's even more digital inputs, more customers entirely in control of how to shop what they want and how shopping how they want. I think that's right. To the workforce is going to need to evolve in a way that meets the needs of customers while providing more.

"Obviously we'll talk with with my coach and I said just a heads up like I know like we're working for me. I'm also working like goal setting. That's one of the things I want to ask you about is like like you know maybe this is a good time to like set some goals and some stuff that you wanted to do in the past like find something that you really want to work on in just set daily goals or said daily achievements for yourself and like you. Well what are your thoughts on? What's the best way to like? Set that up so folks are not like a man like all right now. We're it's Monday at eleven. Am like there's nothing to do except what acts such a good way. I have such a good way to do it so pick out some things that you WANNA do. That are on your list. Like a lot of people are doing online courses getting certifications upgrading. Their their technical skills at something a lot of people are you know especially this would work for people that own gym they might be looking into. How do I do marketing? Or how do I do so that they can just upgrade so when they come back to this they are stronger and better prepared? I love that so like everyone will always say like Oh. I never have time to work in marketing. I never have time to work on business. Plans and stuff exactly but now is the best time for you to reach people. They're all at home. So if you send out an email they're actually gonna look at it because we're so bloody bored. Someone sends me an email. And if you need I'll say like if anyone needs to reach me because you're not feeling good and you want to just you totally can it's Georgia at westmount. Therapy DOT COM. I don't mind you can send a little mouth. You're not feeling good. If you're worried about something have a question I do not mind you can send me an email and I'll I'll answer you back. I'm sometimes on twitter but not usually not but it's so this is the time when you can like make yourself that next level so here we go. I have a great way of. How do you actually do it so that it's efficient and again? Now's the time when you can reach people so if you were thinking about doing plan on marketing or learning how to to do a new skill. Everyone's listening now like you. WanNa ask for for something. Now's the time so when you WANNA do. Is You want to write down your list of things that you are possible right so I looked I always okay so I'm one of those strange people. I like learning like these strange skills. Like it's just fun for me so my list was once learn how to juggle so I got doubling balls and I've been practicing juggling and what you want to do is I'm going to do it the way that it's best so you WanNa plan that. I want to juggle once a day for fifteen minutes period. That's it start small and I'm like I could do especially right now. I do if I made it an hour or an hour and a half and that's why when I start asking people to exercise. I'm just do it amount of time they could. That's why even just touching the elliptical or the the bike or whatever it is that you have is just the beginning and I'm like don't get changed. Don't wear anything fancy. I don't care what you're wearing. You could be intelligence touch the bike presence. Your bike Dock in the gym and do the anshuman that everyone's just like wearing leisure stuff in there like I'm so I don't care if you are a three piece suit you just touch. The bike will get on the bike to sit on it and watch something. That's fun trashy. Tv You know tiring whatever it might be does not matter your favorite podcast that just get on it and then just do five minutes because what we're first trying to do is build a habit. That's the first thing when we're trying to learn a new skill so you plan. If possible your time but I print out a day the month I actually printed out and I stick it on the wall so I have just a calendar of this month and I have a little tiny squares on it and I stick it on paper. The old school ways in ice sometimes dried out and no. I'm very old school. I love tack but this do old school not tell you why is that like. I'll take a poster border piece of paper in all. Just draw it myself. Which is the way I used to do it. And you stick it on the wall and every day that you do it you give yourself a sticker or a little smiley face or check on that and you put it somewhere that you see it problem with a lot of people with exercise earning skills. They have their equipment somewhere where it's not close to them. They're not seen. It's in your basement and you really WanNa work out and you spend most of your time in your living room watching TV stick it in front of the TV. Yeah Trust me and I know it's like it's ugly in living room. I don't care your health is worth it. You WanNA learn a skill stick the I put the juggling balls and I put it on my catch my dining room table like they just sat there which is a better way to learn how to juggle. Because when the ball's fall down they fall on the table so you don't have to pick them up off the floor because I'm lazy But stick it somewhere that you hang out and the piece of paper has to be stuck also somewhere that you are going to see it all the time that is that constant reminder so I can choose not to do it but if you WANNA learn a skill at first you're not going to be motivated to do it a lot of people ask me for. How do I make myself motivated? Not GonNa make yourself motivate. You're going to build discipline inhabit that works out in the long term. So you stick it on the wall you do it bring it somewhere where you use it so yes you might make your like. No one's coming over anyway. So dollar now's the time that you can stick it in front of the TV. No one's judging put it there and then all you have to do is every time you do it. You say went I would just say if I do it every dumbs going to even if I do it for like two minutes.

"Yeah it's a little bit tough to talk back and forth because like Zuma prioritize whoever's loud us in that second So if you have a dog barking it will Or like someone slamming away but You can so you can get like eighty eighty percent of the way there and you mentioned like people need this right now. I have been again the gym shut down so basically what I have done is like I had some extra plates like I sold some extra plates that I had because people are spending like four times. What exercise equipment is worth right now and it's not like you don't want to take advantage of a situation but you know. I live in kind of an affluent area. In if someone's willing to spend like two hundred and fifty dollars for two forty five pound plates. It allows me to keep my gym open after the done because they're literally like sitting on Iraq. That look these are weights. That haven't been used in two years but it also goes to show and I think it's a positive sign that as soon as these gyms are open people are GonNa be flying back through that door because of how much I think. It's helping people realize how much they miss. Having you know their ability to exercise on a regular basis. You're seeing people outside all the time exercising. There was a guy locally who ran a marathon on his deck running back in Boston like he ran the Boston marathon on his back deck. Which was I don't know how many times you had to turn around and go back but like people are in their bodies are are craving this exercise. Because it's kind of you know that in the next thing I want to ask you about is how to help with our our mental health and a daily basis. But they're just doing whatever they can to kind of feel some short of some sort of daily rhythm in normalcy in their life which is mostly been taken away from them and they need it they need to. You need to keep on working out. It's not one of those things I think people are starting to rethink their life balance. I think that this has given people time to say like going into work and making my entire life about working. That doesn't make me feel good. What are the things that are actually important in my life and exercising is so vastly important to keep your your body healthy and also to keep your brain healthy? You need that and so if exercising and I always tell people. It's one of the first things that I give to them is. Are you exercising? How are you sleeping? And how are you eating the first three things because if you're not doing the burst foundation pieces of keeping yourself feeling well then it doesn't matter you can't build anything else on top of that and so? I mean people I'm like it's not just want fifteen minutes every day and they're really not exercising all say like fifteen minutes three times a week. That's it just start with something. I had someone I just listen. Just go touch your I think that it was a I I don't know which which type of machine it was. It might have been a bike but anyways I just said just touch it just everyday go and just touch it. And they got on it. You know right away after that. They're like no. I could actually get on and I'm like well. Here's back to you to touch it. And so they got on it and they actually started exercising immediately but they have to build that as a habit. This is not one of the things. If you're at home you can make sure to keep your body really healthy. Do It do it. Because you're gonNA feel better and it's really important. They've also said that especially with the virus that we have right now if you are more overweight if you have You know if your insulin dependent. If you're not feeling good this makes it much more difficult to recover. It's hard intimate. It's harder to deal with ventilators pressure on you. It's harder to breathe so be healthy one for your minds health but also for your body's health this is your temple. Treat it with respect. I mean again like there's so many things that you can do to stack the deck in your favor and like even for basically multiple tiers of people that are trading with me remotely. I put together like these body weight training programs for that are basically you know? I understand get mentioned. I live in an affluent area but not everyone has is still not everyone still working and also You know this is one of those moments where people are like. I'm not spending any money right now. because who knows what we're going to be able to get back to work who knows what those industries that were inner going to be like when we return to them I'm so sensitive that so I basically said don't just not trained because you feel like you can't afford to train with me like I had these like forty dollars kits and I will write up a program. You can just do it from home if you need anything. Just check in with me. Just make sure that you do well. It's not as it's also again. You know if you do what you do you do what I do if if you do. If you're in the healthcare industry usually not in it because we can't wait till like drive down the street and in a tesla or something like that like doing it because we we usually get something. That's not monetary out of this. We get just like a huge benefit out of like helping other people like it is. It boosts us well so like you don't want to especially for like I've athletes. That might go back to sports in the Spring Lake. There are training their butts off a winter to get ready for spring sports and then to have their season almost take like. There's a chance they might still play but it they could have completely taken away from them. like those two things are so. Make sure that you're ready because it's not just yeah I can look at it selfishly to. It's also an investment and making sure that you continue to be great at what you do and you know. I'm sure when you can you'll come back to the Jim they get like. I just hate the feeling where I know. Folks that have not left their house in two weeks. I know I know some athletes that have now left to east because they live with someone that's either. Immune compromised or their other factors. That are making it where they don't want it or they live with an elderly person. They want to take that risk. And I'm like Oh totally understand. What's just make sure like if there's you know let's just make sure like you said let's do something three days a week. If you can do that you know you're not only to make sure that you maintain some some strength and some muscle mass and you're GonNa you know least moving around a little bit and not just again. Watch everything Netflix. You'll have the ability to just feel better mentally because it's that awesome feeling that you get after a training session or going for a walker literally just cleaning the house like cleaning. The House is exercise to just do that. My my apartment's never been cleaner. You sound totally all my God and get some get some good music on and you know have like old dance party. As long as it's not GonNa bug the neighbors and white let's just like you or Doodo Zoom Zoom or others. Yeah probably better to use. What's what facetime facetime or something like that. It's time facetime again. Like hopefully like the governments will take care of these companies at some point in time in the future so that we don't have to worry about it but you need to make this. You have to have it fun. Be Do the things that you enjoy but make sure that you put yourself as a priority. I we were talking before we started about how this is kind of like a little bit of a space time. Where you WANNA keep well and healthy and take care of those that you love and make sure that they're safe in well and you WANNA take reprioritize. What's important for you for your life and I don't. I think the first thing that we do especially if you're you know a caretaker a personality which a lot of people that are in the helping field that do things for other people that work with people are caretakers by nature. Usually we put ourselves last and we shouldn't be we need especially if you're a caretaker especially if you have a lot of people kit taking care of and that's why you're not leaving. You need to make sure that you are strong healthy well feeling good and though exercising takes up some about energy it gives it back to later. I tell people you'll be more tired at the beginning. When you start this. But one is you're gonNA feel good. You'RE GONNA be proud at the end of it. You're going to get all of those happy endorphins and dopamine just right after you do it and then later you build up capacity so a lot of people even if they're feeling depressed. Unlike I know that the last thing your body wants to say is exercise but out of all of the things that I need to have someone do. Especially if they're depressed is to do the opposite of what their bodies telling them because depression kind of like yeah. It's it's it's your body going into hibernation. Your body is saying hibernate which means like sleep. Don't get up. Don't do something and so your body is saying. It's time to hibernate which is good for us if we actually lived in little tiny villages and hot spurred remote areas. That was actually a good idea. Don't eat food. It's there's not much food out. It's cold stadium the cave and don't do it but now this is not this like the food even now. Even though it's a little bit more difficult we can still order food to go out to get food. We don't have to worry about it so the way that we can give our body the opposite signal. It's not time to hibernate. Is Doing the opposite of what your body wants you to do? And that is exercise and again even if it's five minutes I'm like. Do you know a small workout for five minutes. Start off your day and do some squats. Some situps pushups some whatever it is five ten of them doesn't matter just to start the movement going and that will help the depression. It's as effective as medication. Yeah Yeah I I think that is. There's no better way to put it in the way that you just put it. There's now more than ever you get a really focus in on on your health just so you can again. You know God forbid anyone gets sick but really so you can just have some sort of normalcy like I know. A lot of people are out of work and they're just like bored to death and like for some folks. I said like great because this is an awesome. This is like the opportunity of content. I mean this is like the evolution of content were like is so many folks at their gyms or shutdown right now but they're running like basically bodyweight workout on facebook every single day. You can follow along with their. You know doing a body work. I've had this one percent. No is literally running. Four group exercise classes a day for free. She's not charging anything she's like. Here's a donate link if you want to donate it but like I know again like folks in the industry are doing it. Not just because they want to help you but also we need to have some sort of just regular schedule like with out that it just feels like like. I've been on vacation since I opened the gym. Because I don't like it. I don't like not having structure like heavy. I like knowing I need to be there and all that stuff so so for me like this has been really weird. But it's like all right. Well we got all this crap in my closet will store this up on craigslist. You know there's these other projects I WANNA do do that knock out a bunch of podcast episodes because there's one way I can help people right now. It's because I know I've been doubling down on podcast right now too because I am not in a mood where I wanNA listener book because it's not always entertaining. I want to listen to people. Talk about stuff even if it has to be news. News technology Sports whatever something where people are just hanging out having fun because then you can also feel a little bit less secluded that way as well. Let's get to keep your brain busy and that's the other piece to it. Is that you Idle time is the devil's playground. Especially if you are worrier. Someone that's Taipei. That cares a lot about things you can start to spend. There's not enough things to do. And because of that you can spin into places where you shouldn't be can start to worry you can start to feed negative self talk. This could be where your knock and be good to yourself. I think a lot again for right now. Are you know May in this is me? This is totally wondered semi. Were IF I'm bored. I will start eating food like I will be own with you on Saturday. I'm like Oh man I have nothing to do. I'm super bored. I guess I'M GONNA I'M GONNA go in like I can just just find this as I would go help out the local pizza place because I know they're hurting. I'm going getting and I totally house don't we we do now helping the economy kneeling again. Like I you know..

"Welcome back to the cast. My name is Kevin Larabee. And we're back with you so hopefully you can get a little escape from the world today. Put on your headphones go for a walk and listen to my incredible guests today back after far far too long. George Dow is back on the show. Georgia how are you? I'm doing good. I'm doing good well. It folks have not listened passers which I recommend. They do because they're really timeless. Topics that we hit on our timeless and right now as psychotherapists like this is a really important time to have you on the show because of course. This is a fitness folk. Focus podcast and it's really interesting to see like with many things like the number. The dollar numbers have gone up substantially. I think people have had more time than ever to listen and consume net. Flicks is going up. Podcasts are going up but Instead of having you guys watch like about what is it. The tiger king or something like that. We're going to listen to some. I have not watched that yet so I don't really know what it is but we're gonNA hopefully provide you with some something that you can do for not only your physical health but of course your mental health today so again Georgia. Thank you for taking the time to to hang out happy here so the place where I want to get started is I mean. We're GONNA hit on a bunch of different things we're definitely gonna hit on the way. Of course you have one foot in the the world of technology as well so were obviously and hit on that. And that's obviously something I love to talk about But it's having a huge impact on how were dealing with this like here in the states and I'm sure you have similar orders up there in Canada. But we're basically told you know. Nonessential businesses are shut down. So like my gym's shut down the only thing that's open is really grocery stores pharmacies. You know hardware stores things that are deemed to be on of course Liquor stores essential businesses. That must stay open so we can function as a society but You know to connect into allow for some business to happen meetings and for me at the gym. It's like I'm running my group exercise and personal training through zoom We've been able to utilize this technology To away stay connected but I'm curious like how you look at this from a psychological standpoint mental standpoint because like you and I. We can't sitting in a room together and and chat as you're doing your sessions like it's not the same as being in the same room as chatting we have to do this remotely via zoom but but you feel like that has enough of a connection to still be effective for folks to not just get their points across but also you know connect emotionally and instill know feel like. They're sitting there in a room with you. I think that it works. Well I think it works well when you know the person so it does take a little bit longer to notice when like most of communication is body language. So I miss some of the cues. When we're doing it through like skyping usually would prefer like skype with a video so I can see the reactions. It least facially not really account release people's hands so often a lot of the stuff that we do it through the hands of their hands bunched up if they move closer further way much harder to see that I made them uncomfortable or difficult for them to see if I'm taking a note or a you know there's there's these little tiny pieces that are missing whereas in person much easier for me to read. How is this going in for people to feel comfortable with me because especially for psychotherapy? It's really important that you feel comfortable with the person that you're sharing things with because if not you're not gonNA share it in. It's not gonNA work out really well so there are some pieces that are missing the other strange one is. There's a little bit of a delay like there's a fraction of a second of delay when we're doing this and so sometimes my timing's off which makes me feel really bad. Because I might interrupt more. I don't know that they're about to see say some things can't see their faces large And so I I sometimes interrupt or cut people off which makes me feel bad during sessions but besides that it's really exceptionally good. I have to say I have some people that I only do. Skype sessions with. I've only done skype sessions with. I've never met them in person. It's still exceptionally effective. I think that there's that getting to know you might take an extra session whereas you know for me. I think relatively straightforward transparent so that usually happens really quickly but it might take a little bit longer but I think besides that. We're really fortunate that we can still do all the things that keep us. Centered and grounded remotely. But we're missing a few of those like you can't like hug people or you. Now get that physical affection in so for people that are alone and doing self-isolation which here in Quebec we've been asked to do self-isolation like don't go out if you don't have to periods of and even if you go to the grocery part grocery store we have like lines on the graduate outside and there's lines that like keep us all in distance and then they make you wash your hands before you go in and they watched the cart and they watch you as you. Wash your hands or use disinfectant. Washing your hands is better but you can choose to do it and then you go in so people. Even in that case were not interacting. Not Talking we're making sure to give everyone a wide you know. I'm not squeezing every single mango to Mitch. Get the best of them. I touch it. I'm like okay. I'm just taking this mango it's mine So there are some differences. But we're very fortunate. That's an interesting point to bring up. I think here in the states From the grocery stores that I've ventured out into when it has been needed Trader Joe's is kind of done the best word they just like they will basically give a hand sanitizer when you walk in They wiped out all the cards and the and the baskets and stuff and It's been really fascinating for me. Psychologically like sometimes order stuff through whole foods which will deliver to the door. Which one is really hard to even get someone to do that? Now because all the drivers are booked up and stuff like that but It's been interesting to see how whole foods have spent discounting things like loose fruit and vegetables like apples and stuff like that. Because I'm guessing like people are just worry about buying apple because they don't know if someone has coughed on it or as the person that plates the apple that stocked it. I know everyone's wearing gloves and I'm sure they're taking safety measures. But Psychologically I. I've been like I've been still been buying apples but I've been thinking about it a lot to know like wash them like crazy before. I consume them. Just because you know mentally were having to make all of these basically constantly trying to like balance equations in our mind like the risk versus award of everything that we do at this point yet. Do you think that this is going to have a lasting effect on the way that we interact going forward after? We're kind of over this. I think we're looking at at least eighteen to twenty four months for me right now. I'm even looking at the process of like all right. Well you know as this stuff was all starting to happen. Like insult extra purell dispensers. You know basically changed the rules in the gym. Where normally I would clean everything in the morning? And at night I would wipe everything down with disinfecting wipes and all that stuff but now it has gotten to the point. Where our Georgia? Now that you're done using that Kettle GonNa you're GONNA wipe it down before you put it back in that way. We can like we have to be extra careful about this stuff but I mean I'm really curious to see how other gyms manage it because I think that is. It's like being in a restaurant. It's like being any kind of community space. Where you're going to be touching a lot of things that other people are going to be touching We WE'RE GONNA have to be extra sensitive because There's still a subset of the population that are crazy. That don't think that this is a real and that these numbers are overblown in that. I mean we've even had Issues locally here in Massachusetts where like cops have been having to break up People meeting in parks and stuff like that and having house parties still in having Down the street from where I live. They basically shut down all the beaches But what happened was people were just parking their cars and tailgating and light drinking out of the back of their cars so they were not again taking this stuff seriously so. I think there's still a lot of folks that aren't GonNa think it's an issue but I think you need to be prepared if you're a business to be ready for the folks that think. It is a very crucial issue. Because I can't go against the numbers everyone I mean. I know multiple people that have you know gotten cove in nineteen. I know that know people that have died from it already So you have to really be. I'd rather be overly cautious on this up. I think I mean you're probably already seeing like I'm seeing here now. I'm seeing almost maybe half the people that I see outdoors wearing face bass now and this is in Massachusetts. I mean it's it's not like when I was out in Tokyo lot regular. That's right so I think now what's going to happen is as soon as you know. God Willing our governments and the people that are in power can make it happen where this stuff is actually available against. We can protect ourselves. We'll be able to have face masks and I think that will be at least common in the winters. Maybe in the summers will relax a little bit. But I think whenever it starts getting too cold and flu season Until we at least have a year to or this isn't a big issue because Sorry for rambling but I think from a gym standpoint. Nyman talked about this on the show. But I'm already getting prepared that we might have to shut down again in the fall because that's what some experts are saying is that this might come back in the fall. And now what do I do in terms of a business? I I already am training people remotely. I bought a bunch of extra equipment to give people trae remotely. I'm even going to double down on that to make sure I have a bunch of extra stuff because this might be the norm for for a while and it's got the multiple people that have basically said. I'm just done with the gym. I'm not going to own a gym anymore. Because if I had to be shut down for five six months out of the year it's game over like you just can't make enough minder survive right right. I know a lot of people that are also travelling to like places that do take really good care like we have people that are that are traveling forty five minutes to an hour to go to grocery store that they know that they take really good care of making sure everyone's links so that idea of rethinking the way that you organize the gym itself of Everyone should wash it down before they put it back which is thoughtful and respectful as well and then you know that makes people feel safe. I think that we are going to be changing. Like I think that people are no longer going to be doing the usual handshake and being more cautious of you know if you're coughing cough into your elbow or if you have a face mask. Use your face mask. If you're not feeling well is going to be more commonplace. And I don't know if that's bad thing. I think that you know what it's a fair thing to be respectful of. Where are your germs going? And maybe washing our hands a little bit more being more careful and respectful is not that bad. I think that other innings might be. But I'm like yeah that seems fair. Yeah even like you know there is. I mean there's so many things that we can do just precautionary standpoint in. Why not because again if you I mean thank you know. Be Thankful if you're not in a New York City or not in a Chicago or you're not in San Francisco or Seattle. Where like again you know. It's hard to not know someone at least know someone or know someone that knows someone that works in one of those hospitals and is just getting I mean basically like I think you know some folks think the news overblown it but it. You know what I've been told as it is like a war zone like it's basically you're seeing people you could see people you know. See twelve like if you're a nurse or a doctor you might have like twelve to twenty patients assigns you additional every single day with what's going on right now in half those people might be dead by the first day like that's where we're at right now it's like that's why we need to take this stuff seriously and we gotta make sure that we're being not only taking care of ourselves but I think that's why wearing the masses important is again. It's not for you. It's for in case you're symptomatic you will not infect someone else yes exactly exactly we. It's true like you may not show of it. Might it might not affect your healthier. Well it may not affect you by Because this is in a new virus it very well could and many of us will get it And and be fine with it. It's that then we can pass it along because we think that we're a Symptomatic we think the recent American don't have it but we just don't show any of the symptoms of.

"By Dow humanity both for games in the terminator will be released in the next five years both in the field that was trying to actually produce those machines that may or may not run amok in the future there is a growing crisis of confidence for decades A. I. researchers have been making grand but fruitless public pronouncements about advancements in the field as early as nineteen fifty six when a group of artificial intelligence pioneers medic Dartmouth the researchers wrote that they expected to have all the major Kinks worked out of A. I. by the end of the semester and the predictions kept up from there so you can understand how the public came to believe that robots that were smarter than humans we're just around the corner but a I never managed to produce the results expected from him by the late nineteen eighties the field retreated into itself funding dried up candidates looks for careers in other fields the research was pushed to the fringe it wasn't any I. winter the public moved on to the terminator was replaced by Johnny five in the film maximum overdrive our machines turned against us but it's the result of a magical comic not from the work of scientists recently quietly the field of A. I. has begun to move past the old barriers that once held it back Connor the grand pronouncements today's researchers tempered by the memory of their predecessors public failures are more likely to down play progress in the field and from this new A. I. we have a clear picture of the existential risks it poses than we ever had before the A. I. we may face in the future will be subtler and vastly more difficult to overcome then a sideboard with a shock on in hindsight it was the path toward machine learning that the early A. I. researchers chose that led them to a dead end let's say you want to build a machine that sorts red balls from green balls first you have to explain what a ball is well first really you have to have a general understanding of what makes a ball a ball which is easier said than done try explaining a ball the someone that doesn't use terms that one would have to already be familiar with like severe or round or circle once you have that figured out you then have to translate that logic in those rules in the code the language of machines ones and zeros if Simonds now you have to do the same thing with the concept of the color red and then the color green so that your machine can distinguish between red balls and green balls and let's not forget that you have to program it to distinguish in the first place it's not like your machine comes pre loaded with distinguishing software you have to write that too since you're making a sorting machine you have to write code that shows how to manipulate another machine your robot sorter to let it touch the physical world and once you have your machine up and running and working smoothly separating red balls from green ones what happens when a yellow ball shows up things like this do happen from time to time in real life what does your machine do then despite the incredible technical difficulties it faced the field of artificial intelligence did have a lot of success in teaching machines that could think very well with a narrow domains one program called deep blue beat the reigning human chess champion Gary Kasparov in six games at a match in nineteen ninety seven to be certain the intellectual abilities required by Chesser of fast improvement over those required to select a red ball from a green one of both of those programs share a common problem they only know how to do one thing the goal of a I has never been.

"Dow we go welcome what's on your mind Sir I I hear about all about the usual rack up trucks from Dodge ram yeah I wanted to know your thoughts about the diesel also it is been phenomenal I add one very first ones that I have to listen or get out of downforce I asked him because he was a high mileage driver ask him to keep me posted on a regular basis and how the drug was doing he was consistently getting thirty miles to the gallon and had a issue one with it other than the emission recall that he had to get done it could just feel economy by about a mile per gallon he's probably up around a hundred and fifty thousand miles an hour so and he absolutely loves the truck now they've made some improvements in this new twenty twenty the truck itself the engines the end is virtually the same other than they did cheat on emissions this time but the truck is amazing I'm driving I'm driving one now this week got him me and I wish it was a visual but it's just amazing truck from the standpoint of quietness in in a way it rides in the amenities in the computer systems and you know it is only this is great truck I I highly recommend part of the recall doesn't bother you at all it does it's already fixed that if there's they they skipped an entire model year to fix those trucks and I was part of the settlement with the government so if you find a new one and I understand you're still some out there like a twenty eighteen it will already be fixed if you find a used one I would check it but odds are really good it's already been fixed okay hello all night at after the test drive one last week didn't even know was a diesel it's so quiet told me yeah it was real nice drive in it but then he told me about this this recall and they don't have the fix for it yet so it couldn't be a certified pre owned vehicle but after I take possession of it that that story's not hold water with me for some reason what year model was this thing eight I believe that one was a sixteen or seventeen there's no reason that had been fixed there's I do a little more investigation or talk to my friend bridge club in the owner Claiborne Chrysler Dodge jeep ram yes two steps if you want in a car or truck now call corporal USA to find it one eight hundred ninety six seventy seven seventy seven news radio twelve hundred W. away on San Antonio and I heart rate news I'm Karen McCue nearly four hundred Americans quarantine by coronavirus on board the cruise ship near Japan will soon be heading home those Americans will now have the chance to evacuate the state department of health and Human Services have chartered several flights it will arrive in Japan tomorrow evening to bring them home a team from the CDC will screen passengers before they are allowed to board and anyone with symptoms will stay in Japan to receive treatment those who do come home will reportedly be quarantine for two weeks at either Travis Air Force base near Sacramento or Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio boxes Garrett Tenney more talk about a possible truce between the US and the Taliban that could lead to the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan to give peace a chance but the the best if not only way forward in Afghanistan is through a political agreement and.

"Welcome back everybody the dow jones industrial average crossed into record territory during trading on thursday racing past 25000 for the first time performance trust capital partners director of trading brian battle joins us to analyse the numbers so brian the dow raced from twenty four thousand a 25000 in record time for a one thousand point jumped just twenty three trading days what is fuelling this runaway market well a couple of things for a thousand points out of a twenty five thousand point mark at twenty four thousand point mark at a smaller percentage so you would expect the increase faster but more important than that global optimism is expanding the footsie peace at a record high today also both the topics in the nikkei set records or the highest close ninety one and ninety two so there seems to be optimism worldwide is not just the us but we definitely seemed to be leading the charge and brian battle joining us now the performance trust capital partners trading floor in chicago now brian we've seen a lot of the european countries and a lot of the markets overseas they've gone through some tough times they're all going through growth a lot of them at about the same time we are seeing grow who oversees the good news for the us is despite the fact the us has we want a strong dollar we've been extremely weak dollar so the us should be able to export to those growing european economies and the fed uh even echoed that sentiment yesterday when the in the minutes of the fed meeting where they said they might have to raise rates more aggressively because the economy might grow faster do the tax cut so there's a lot of things setting up for a continued rally in the us indices in terms of domestic sectors going into the dow's success in the dow runup low interest rates is one tax cuts is another what are you see that washington could be doing that could even propelled the market to move even faster than a great question and the and the thing that's a lie.
