Fresh update on "dmv" discussed on Securing Your Financial Future
"You're listening to securing your financial future with Anthony Pellegrino. A staggering quote out of Forbes. The Social Security administration has some 40,000 undertrained, overwhelmed and sometimes arrogant staffers who routinely tell people things that are dead. Wrong, half wrong, misleading or incomplete. As a result, thousands of people are making terribly wrong decisions daily about claiming their Social Security benefits decisions that are costing them huge sums of money. Welcome back to secure your financial future. I'm Anthony Pellegrin, along with Jennifer Grant. Today we're talking about the six critical mistakes with claiming your social security benefits that could cost you Ah fortune not coming up in her final segment. Why You can't rely on the Social Security Administration for any personalized advice, plus the truth about Social Security going bankrupt jet back to the Some of the things that you said Now this is that was from Forbes, right, saying that they're the security Administration. 40,000 undertrained overwhelmed, Arrogant, dead. Wrong, half misleading and incomplete. That's ah! That's pretty harsh. Would you say? Yeah, that just gives me that doesn't leave me with the warm and fuzzies towards the Social Security Administration now know they could have just left it as undertrained. But I mean, they really drove it home. Yeah, they really want to make sure you understood 100% And I will say this I mean, Look, just because you know the client range we work with Is it could be from, you know, 2034 year olds up Tio 70 year olds in their seventies. But for the most part, I mean, ah, huge core of our clients, I would say is, let's just say You know, mid late forties, too early seventies, and there's a big, big bulk of boomers also mixed in there, right, So I've heard many a many of many a clients over the years talk about that. They say Anthony going too. So Security administration to sit down with some other. It's it's It's a stretch. If you say it's a step above the DMV ee Oh, wow sure, although, although I have had some others Actually report back and say, Hey, I ran into somebody there that I met with that did a very good job, You know other But here's where you do have to be careful Mistake Number five is that it's a mistake horrifies counting on Social Security administration. To help you with the decisions of claiming your benefits, right? Yeah. So relying on social Security representatives for advice in these matters can become more of a hindrance than than helping you. Yeah. Okay. This jen, This is straight from a study from the United States Government Accountability Office. Right. According to their study, Social Security representatives routinely make mistakes in the application process. Which and ends up costing people up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. No, so seek guidance advice. If not us, somebody. Okay? That has some experience with this. Planning and has access to different software that they can plug in in great questions, tow walk you through. In addition to that software, thinks important putting it all together because Little mistakes on the front and could huge end up being huge dollars over the course of retirement. And you can't change it. Once you've chosen the right you're going to take that's it. That's it, You know, I mean, here genuine, a golden rule. Okay, Here's a here's a golden rule. Do not take any advice from the Social Security administration. OK, chances are it's dead wrong. In fact, nearly 70% Of all applicants, you know, don't have the ability to maximize their benefits when speaking with a social security agent. So so security agents there. Look, I'm not trying to be rude. I absolutely am not trying to be demeaning. So police please don't misconstrue what I'm saying. It's just, you know, Social Security agents that they're not qualified advisors, right, So they're they're trained in the rules, but they're not trained in claiming the strategy. What's the best way to claim it? They can explain it. But if they're Jennifer, explaining the 2700 plus ways they may know how to explain them. But they can't guide you exactly right. The best way to claim the big death Well, and as we have said many a times everybody's situation is different, so they can't tell you specifically what's gonna work best for you because it could be different from The person sitting next to you. I mean, it's you can. You just can't do that? Absolutely. And in fact, take it one step further, Jen. Not only they're not qualified advisors. But but fact Social Security agents. They're actually prohibited right there. Prohibited from offering any claiming advice whatsoever. Yeah, because in a way they can't be held responsible for that. That serviced the liability. The live exactly. You can't so just don't. Yeah, yeah, It's the best advice that could give us just don't just don't don't just just just let let it be. Let it let it be at that, you know. And by the way, mistake number six, right. So mistake number six in our final mistake, But this this is our final mistake of the show here today, Right? It's believing this a mistake believing that Social Security will just go flat broke now It's not going to know I'm going to go away. It's not gonna full on go away. No, it won't do that. But hear gents. Some people are concerned all in all of the effect that Corona virus and with all these people being unemployed and not paying into social Security. What What is that going to do? So I mean, here's a fact. The fact is Kuroda virus is going to impact almost everything to some degree. Yeah, it is. And that does include the most successful social program in our nation's history, which was social Security. Okay, But dont worry, though, if you're one of the Let's say 64 million people that are currently receiving Social Security benefit payoffs each month. You will continue to do so on an uninterrupted basis. So you don't have to worry about it. You know, like why Social Security isn't going bankrupt, You know, so push those kind of negative thoughts Adi. Or might, however, that we do have to kind of put on the radar. The fear. We hears that it's going to go broke. But in reality that's not the case you say today even talked about this, he said, as baby boomers are retiring and droves. There's more money flowing out of the system, okay, and by the way, less people paying into the system right that when it comes to taxes, so to bridge the gap The essay dipped into trust Fenical figure they dipped into additional funds. John Okay, toe find enough cash to pay the benefits in full, so those trust funds are likely to Here's the problem. Those trust funds are likely to run dry in 2035. Put that into perspective. We're in 2020 here, okay, and we blink our eyes and all the sudden it's like almost half the year's gone radio. Yeah. So that's going to come up, you know faster than you think So meaning the on ly money available to pay off the benefits will be what comes from taxes. So in other words, Jen, the social Security bucket, the well will end up running dry by 2035 if they do nothing. Yeah, if they do nothing And then basically, it's going to be whoever's working. So pray for low unemployment, high employment so taxes But guess what else that screams Higher taxes in the future. Oh, yeah, right. So taxes are Can't trust that enough. They're inevitably going to be higher. So these are some of the reasons why we've been talking about this for a long time. Great time to take advantage of some strategic tax planning, knock text preparing planning Now, while we have this opportunity, so But you had on the nail on the head, John..

Which I have, by the way I'll be of the travel well after October and you suckers will be at home because I have my riel, California I'd well, I went out to the California DMV. Out in near Valencia, Santa Clarita area and the young lady that was taking my picture. She felt the pain of paper out and she took the picture. And she said, Are you the same Conway that's on fire. And I said yes. And she says my ex boyfriend. I'm sorry. My ex husband. Listen to you every single day. That's pretty cool. Why? Why is he an ex husband? Fine and she said Because of you. Because he wouldn't turn that off. He listened to it every day for four hours, and he ignored me. And I've asked them a 1,000,000 times to shut it off when we're eating dinner or when we're out, you know, walking around the yard or walking around the neighborhood, and he wouldn't shut it off. I might go so I'm the reason He's gone. She said. Yes, you are. And then took a picture of me and I split, but he's not crazy, right? I mean that. I thought it was gonna be like, Oh, man, I listen to show Gina's grade. You know, I love the naughty Yusa sandals. But she just stared at me and she goes. I'm now an ex wife. Because of you. You destroyed her marriage. I destroyed her marriage. And I'm thinking I'm thinking maybe I've done that for other people, right? I was struggling and we we we stay in touch but then you told me the news of your father and it really crushed me as a friend someone because you've you've given a lot to yourself, you project what you do but also you're part of the family I mean, you are our guest co host when I decided to take breaker to how are you feeling tell me a little bit about what happened first let's start there. Sure first of all, thank you very much for inviting me to discuss this haven't discussed this in public manner like this. and. So just to give you the basics on May Twenty First, my dad had a stroke. And so he was hospitalized and during his hospitalization desks when they discovered that he had tested positive for the coronavirus. Now, knee him but five other members of my Dad's side family. Tested positive as well, and they all have very close in a suburb in DC called Wheaton Maryland. And so. Obviously I was keeping track and keeping inform with the hospital above my desk condition. Obviously, I can go there to physically see him because of the circumstances. But yet at the time when she told me that he had positive, he was not. On a ventilator. And for three or four days after the twenty first, that was keeping in contact with the hospital. And I'll tell you that every as recently as Monday. The week that he passed away as recently as Monday that which the social worker at the hospital that actually called me. To discuss plans about him having physical therapy with regards to stroke because they felt like his condition at improved. Well enough that the plan you know some form of physical therapy because he had lost all. Movement in in his right side of his body because of stroke. Unfortunately about four days later on the twenty eighth like at. One thirty in the morning I get that phone call and said phone call that we all. Dread. In. Our. Lives. In the middle of the night from the hospital, and they basically told me that during the course of that evening that his his His heart stopped three times. And they had to resuscitate him use a defibrillator. And at that point he. was back on the ventilator and so this is. You know. Primarily because of defects, the effects of the of the virus that has conditioned completing took a one eighty. Overnight. and. So the hospital called me and said, you know in no uncertain terms that she should come to the hospital to see him because he was in a condition where. He. Could basically go at any moment. And so. You know again it's hard to go to hospital right now to visit anyone because. Everyone's covered from head to tell you know nurses doctors everyone especially in the ICU. But nonetheless, they allow me to go into the ICU to see him. And to say, you know basically my final goodbyes to him because that's the condition where he was at at that moment in time. And Yeah all the twenty eighth at like around four thirty when he passed away. And I was there biocide when his heart stopped? Well. Thank you for sharing. Tell me about your your your dad, your e whole I mean, I say, behold for my dad. What kind of soul was he for you? He was very hard working guy again A Guy. A few words I would say which is quite ironic because i. Obviously talk a lot considering the work I do on the radio review he came to the US from Salvador and seventy six he first made his way to California. Then actually drove from San Francisco to Washington DC where me and the rest of my family lives. and. So this is the type of journey that a lot of Salvadoran. Immigrants took during this period of time he came to the US with best. An eighth grade education. But he was an amazing auto mechanic that was the majority of his work here in the US was that of an auto mechanic And I could see that you know he pretty much in every autoshop they worked at during his lifetime he was You. Know. Mr Mr Reliable Mr Dependable
New Yorkers Allowed To Apply For Global Entry
"Governor Cuomo now threatening to sue the Trump administration's Homeland Security Department for kicking New Yorkers out of trusted traveler programs like global entry earlier this year. That ban was lifted yesterday. Governor Cuomo says the band never should have been there to begin with. Because New York wasn't the only state with green light laws, which allow drivers to get licences regardless of immigration status, He says it's impossible that the D H s didn't realize that until now is impossible. Because I have said, is 480 times Everybody knew there were other states with green light laws. And so for New York to have been the only state whose residents were banned from the program, aimed at reducing wait times for international travel was purely political. According to the governor. The Justice Department now says the D H s did make inaccurate or misleading statements as it fought to keep the band they got caught. It was all politics all the time. It was all exploitation all the time. The D H S says it lifted the ban and dropped its opposition because New York agreed to share DMV information for those trusted travelers. Homo says he agreed to that back in April. Sonia Rincon, 10. 10 wins news.

"Hey everyone I am on the line with Richard. Social Richard is the chief scientist and MVP at salesforce Richard. Welcome to the PODCAST. Aloha great to be here to chat. Houston you said. Aloha and I was surprised that you're actually in the bay area. I always see these wonderful photos of you all over the place and I only get to ever see you in person at nerves nowadays and The blacken ai events and stuff like that so great to get a chance to connect with you mid year. How is everything? Life is pretty pretty. Good I'm very grateful of our research can continue working on some research during distresses now would that that is specific to Kobe. Nineteen and But Ryan Large sometimes joked at the PhD. Prepared me for several years. I staying at home eating pasta every day. Working on a computer all day and So so I'm I'm in pretty good spirits trying to have a little bit a positive impact and still go about my work and make sure my team is doing well throughout this crisis. And it's it's a tough time But I'm I'm very grateful for line of research we can work remotely. Who quite well awesome awesome. Glad to hear that it is Don't usually you know do this. But is April tenth that were recording. This what is it week. Four for you for lockdown shelter in place thereabouts right. It's it's crazy to time weirdly. It's slow and fast at the same time days morph into each other The Home Office is just the the home and the office and everything so the ad time definitely does not seem linear going through. This is very strange but before we jump into some of the main topics that we wanNA cover in particular language models and some of the recent work you've been doing applying that to the bio space. You share with us a little bit about your background and how you came to work in a chirp boy. It almost starts in high school when I really liked math and languages and when you think about Those two fields one you would hope is true even if you go light years in some other direction and language is district constantly morphing system. Where every you know teenager could just say Yo lo and boom you have a new word and now the the signs of nestor deal with that and so they marry when you try to use computers use math to try to understand language so I studied linguistics computer science Back in two thousand and early. Two thousands and dad's at the time seem kind of like an orchids kind of cute a niche topic to my parents. I thought man if we can get computers to understand language that would be just incredible all the things they could do. You know especially if you're lazy. He wants to agree. Repetitive tasks to be done by a computer would be quite amazing. And so that kind of more Into a couple of other interests in trying to use eventually initially just the typical machine learning essentially sort of machine machine learning by itself and I More broadly applied to computer vision problems. But I really do think in languages the most interesting manifestation of human intelligence There's some quite incredible visual systems and apparatus in the animal kingdom like the Mantis shrimp all kinds of price focal vision. And so on and each I and all of that animals have quite sophisticated visual systems but language connected thought and culture and society. Information are in so got excited about language. Then two thousand ten I saw a handful of people. Apply NEURAL NETWORK TECHNIQUES And extend them to a computer vision and at the time I had also just become a little bit disillusioned myself around how much time naturally crossing folks spend on feature engineering. So I thought couldn't we use some of these ideas from computer vision and neural networks for natural language processing? It was a not easy in the beginning early days had a lot of rejected papers reviewers just ignoring reasonably good experimental results saying why you submitting neural networks stuff to this conference. This is not the nineties anymore. Stuff doesn't work and so on but eventually more and more people have joined a small core initially was read just Joshua Banjo and Jefferson's labs and rings lap At Stanford and and it expanded more and more and and now it's kind of the default way for doing things to US network of course Not Dave developed more and more novel architectures to and it's it's just been super exciting so now I I work Not just on the research side anymore but also on a lot of applied problems you know in the end. I often think about trying to impact and in the end when you do research you hope that people will pick up the research extent Extended next apply it to some real world problems but if you have the opportunity to both the research and applied to real problems to kind of reduce the variance of the impact that you have and so. I work on a lot of problems. Chat bots and service sales and marketing applications trying to for instance automatic reply to emails or two phone conversations or having chat conversations is a really great one also doing a lot of computer vision trying to identify different objects in supermarket shelves. Doing Complex. Ocr for forms and a lot of interesting things recommendation engines Voice Machine Translation. Now the the group is pretty large and so we get to work on a lot of different things. You know it's a it's a research organization but as part of salesforce which we in no as kind of a new still. I still think of itself as a CRM company Owner than their terms here has kind of expanded and now includes everything that you might do with the customer right so we're just ecommerce platform because customers buy stuff online. I worked obviously the largest Sailed Service Marketing Organization but we also have helped companies integrate all the different data. Now Tableau we help people understand our customer data and do a lot of analytics behind it and then we look at you know where are the customers and we help governments senior citizens as their customers and help them especially now also in this crisis of build software really quickly bill chat bots so they can answer questions? You know the knee and if you go to. Da Department of motor vehicles. You have the question chat bots said. Give the answers. They are also You know our customer there of the DMV. We work with healthcare providers where the patients are customer. So the edition of what a customer is is getting broader and broader. We're in all

That when we this is like shark NATO or something I mean it's not gonNA ask NATO who thought of this and actually got this on film. That's what happened if you filmed it. I would have failed freshmen in highschool for writing this down as their short story. Maybe and that's not gonNA happen Come on man. Get your plot straightened out here. You gotta you gotTa make it believable for the reader or you lose them. I don't even know what to say anymore I. This is a strange world where I found myself speechless. Well you can't make this crap is warm the SBA is four hours with billions of dollars an hour going out. This is like this is like shutting down the water main to La for for four hours and nobody can get water for four hours in Los Angeles or New York City. That's what it would be like. I mean can you. This is not all. They were really swamped. We had some minor problems glit- minor glitches on Monday. And then you make a sign up sheet for billions and you don't think I I just I don't know man. I tell no well those of you that have not gotten your loans where you have been clearly recommending that you don't because there is the word loan in this process and Dave Ramsey team and has never recommended you go into debt and You have to meet the federal guidelines which are always kind of interesting. Have you ever tried to read the tax code meet the federal guidelines in order to have the loan forgiven it is not a grant it is alone with forgiveness provisions that you will have to meet exact? The government is well known for having a rush to bill through and then make up the rags on the back end. The suit their new mood on the back end. I worked with too many students at several universities who decided I'm going to be social worker. I'm going to go into public defense instead of chasing big money law. 'cause my heart is big and and I'm going to check it decade. They're gonNA forgive it right and then they didn't all gone. Yeah I remember that story loans. That were not going to be. I mean they were going to be forgiven. That weren't I remember. The story that changed changed remind in year nine. I mean up. Change your mind given up a decade of you're earning power To public services take a lesser job in public service up. Well we gave up now. We just took on our loan. They want a big deal on turned into allow. Who knows like all it alone but later out we found later on we found out it was alone. You folks. I'm telling you this what's going to be known as being bit but both cheeks some of you're GonNa get there so you're gonNA get. The rottweiler clamped down. I'm just telling you it's coming. Some of you will get the forgiveness. It'll work out. I'm not saying it's a hundred percent scam. I'm just saying you guys are acting like this is nothing you'd be a fool not to take the in quotes air quotes everybody free money and then the SBA. I'm telling you the COMP the organization you're dealing with can't keep their computers running. Does that mean anything to you. I mean you know when you see lack of competence. Lack of integrity was someone. You're doing business with expect to have a lack of competence integrity in the future. I mean why would you expect something else but we always we always have this Illusion this fantasy this time. It's going for me just for me. They're going up. You know it's going to be a short line at the DMV today just for me thirty minutes. I'M GONNA get straight through there just like that. I know it's backed up out the door but they're going.

"I would say it is on the white background where you're typing. The letters are white and that just shows up. There will be things where like you try to pull down to go the spotlight and it just doesn't go and that's all been real weird but I think one. That's GonNa Affect Normal people in is affecting normal people is this cock-up with reminders where as a consequence of Catalina shipping later. There's a very odd set of circumstances right now the apple we really finds themselves suffering with which is they hugely updated reminders. There's a bunch of really good new functionality. That's been in the Beta for a while L. Where you can do stuff now like it's it really is a more full featured program run your Task Management Pretty Ably Blay theoretically with reminders because you can do stuff like you can now like have a sub task in a line? You can have these shared groups you can you can group reminder groups into a folder. Essentially all this really cool stuff new interface really really cool but there's a couple of catches so do you know catch number. One is and this is fairly rare for apple catch number one is it from the Betas and up to now you get you get a big warning on in Iowa that says look. If you want to get all these great features you can get the new. Ui mostly but if you WANNA get these new features upgrade got upgrade your reminders but here's the thing once you upgrade reminders on this device. If you want to use those reminders there's or any other device. They all have to be updated so you have to have thirteen on all of your devices. which is you know that's not super weird? There's not that many people with that have five. IOS devices but if they did they'd have all running. I was thirteen but here's a couple of other catches. You know about this right. I yeah some of this some of its new you also have to be running catalina in order to then use the US reminders on your Mac if you've upgraded it in any of those places you nightmare so like for example. I did the I'm. I'M GONNA keep the machine that I'm on right now. I'm going to keep on Mojave for as long as possible me to APPS. I won't be able to use garage band on the garage man. I use the ancient version of garage. I'M GONNA have to learn logic basically to do my job which I know that's boo but there's all kinds of stuff that is just not gonna work because of the sixty four bit stuff is not going to work in the future. I'm almost done so that's number one number one big problem there was reminders is now any machine you have. It's is not running the that's not out yet. The reminders ain't GonNa work. If I go to reminders now on this machine it's real it's real sad and Janki Janki. It just says here where are my reminders and then when you click on it like I'd say you created reminders to tell you. Your reminders aren't here. There's a big a yellow triangle with an exclamation point because you've got to upgrade and there's a link to what you need to do to upgrade well okay. That's a bummer who you ready for the other bummer like any shared reminders list that you have say with your family if they're not on Catalina in Iowa thirteen break no now so that's I mean that's pretty weird for apple to be in that situation and for it to endure like you know ah eight is understandable intellectually that they moved that feature out for the Mac Platform and then like if you buy by into their if you sign an upgrade you know what you're in for but like I don't know there's nothing weird. It seems very weird and it doesn't seem you know I got I. I was thinking about this. The other day when I saw the announcement for thirteen dot one dot two or whatever the update is and it occurred to me that apple is in such an interesting time right now because if you think about it they have more devices than ever to support. They have more services than ever to support. Oh my God that's such a good old like you know having my kids six S. my kid's ipod touch. Yeah have these devices in the ipod touch. It won't take thirteen point source categories devices to right. I mean there's a watch. There's a there's an ipod. There's many I need an ipad pro right and then forget the computers and the fact that you know and so how do they roll stuff out like I had to go to Iowa thirteen because because I was getting the watch and you have you had my understanding was the new watches worshiping with watch. Os Six and you had to in order to set up if you're watching Perritt you had to have IOS thirteen and I really do think that this had something to do with this wonky release rollout because if if you had in order to use your brand new watch you had to have Iowa's thirteen but Iowa's thirteen had some bugs so they came out with Iowa's thirteen dot one later but also a later a week later but they knew that you had to be on so it's almost like I I feel like there. was something going on within apple that said we've gotta get thirteen out there to support these watches. Even though maybe we already Kinda sorta no it's not ready and what what we'd like to release would be thirteen dot one but there's some things were holding back on. We can't release thirteen dot one I like we wanted to. We've got our lease thirteen eighteen. Even though we know it's kind of broken but the watch people will be angry if we don't and the new phones are also coming as if you can't use your fancy new camera in the way that it was shown on stage you're going to be bummed absolutely imagine the the anger and apple is the one I think about apple historically the one thing that really stands out that for me as a as a Mac user and also a PC user for the longest time and still the Mac everything just worked hardware and software integrated right and that was the one thing that on the windows side we were always struggling with which is oh well. That peripheral needs a driver in the drivers. Don't work in this other thing in conflicts with this other thing and I wanted to upgrade the Ram I am but I couldn't because the video card in the what you know what I'm saying like there were so many different things and windows had to support them all I had to be able to walk into a best buy by some random card or upgrade thing or a hard drive or peripheral and bring it home and plug it in. It's it had to work so in order to make it work. You had all these different companies making different drivers and all this bizarre installation process but over there on the Mac. You just got a printer plug it in oh it worked. You know I have a diamond Rio. I tuned supported it right. You know like there was that time where like part of the way the mascot successful in early days was that they brought them out in the Muhammad in terms of you. You know you could get you would get like an apple talk peripheral way to like deal with this printer and then for years every time you buy any kind of hardware device. It came with a CD with this terrible driver on it. You would have installed but like you could you could if you bought apple stuff. This sounds like such a setup. We're just bitching but like if you bought an apple printer for your Apple Apple Computer you just plug it in and it did literally just work it really did and that was the the the tight integration of hardware and software was the thing that stood out for me as an apple win that was the thing that they had if if you had a MAC everything within the operating system felt native native and natural to that computer especially if you had an apple display I mean everything was was perfect to even got the little rounded corners on the display away and everything just you know they lined up perfectly with the corner edges of the physical display to you know little details like that. The kind of John Gruber would win the rare times that he would have an image on during fireball. It would be to show you how there is this like one one pixel difference in this thing that made all the difference that's right. That's right this line the way this line remember that posted about safari a longtime ago. He's like he was like Oh God. You're out of your mind but it was true. That was that was table. Stakes for Apple Apple was yeah but I think he'll pull you. Really you really getting it and we'll get Gimme. Gimme a reality check on this. You know I'm a partisan us so many things I'm an apple partisan and like I've always used apple stuff and I've I'm. I came up in the time when being an apple person was meant to be shameful so so of course I hated windows. I hate winters on principle. Yeah I refuse to use it on principle but the the tell me if this if you find this to be true the cliche about Microsoft Windows was the Cliche and I wonder what you think the cliche about windows was that it's Buggy Gi insecure and bloated for a variety of reasons and by the time we get into the late nineties early two thousands one of the things they said was well. You know all the windows stuff is meant to sort of work together and talk to like all of your your your email program can talk to your browser can and do all these things and there's something very insecure about all these different ways natively insecure about so many possible way so many attack factors essentially of all these things that have to talk to each other but the big problem in some ways is whatever the code base code basis for windows are have to support have to work on so so many devices including deeply legacy hardware. You can't invent the reinvent. The wheel is what they used to say about windows. We can't fix all of this in scare quotes because this might be running on a set top box in Vietnam. That's right might be running on a screen at O'hare airport or that. There's there's basic stuff in this code base that is that affects millions of devices which makes it difficult to manage and you basically live with a decade and a half of technical debt whereas the MAC is this shining role just has to work on these five. Max Right right right isn't that I mean how close is that cliche a to e anywhere. GimMe Gimme a reality check on that no I think you're right and that's the thing is that you know there was always this association even from the very early days as I'm talking about the very early days when when PC's were relatively new and running windows you had to launch it by typing the word win on the command line and I mean even going back to the that time period..

"And that's why it will be worth it to them. My question is, if Kevin Durant had a team in mind. And I don't know that he does. But if he had a team in mind would that team still want to cause he's damaged will then mix, and the nets according to reports. They they want. They want the, they're willing to do it, and everything that you heard prior to this achilles. Injury was the neck the Knicks. So when he never said it, he never everybody who's from New York said this guy will be destroyed in New York. He's, he's very skin, everybody all the time now it's just going worse. So anyone saying with the associated, they're going to win. Do you think the Golden State's gonna win tonight? I guess I. Homecourt clay. I know not expect of how're of doing it for Kevin. I like Kevin. Yes. So you think they'll win. I but that's that is wish casting one hundred percent just want to see a game seven watching currying Thompson. But I mean I have no analysis Rick Pitino wants almost said Kevin is not walking through that door. Now, do you think people around the country rooting for Toronto and against Golden State very much in the same way that they're rooting against Boston? They'll because Golden State hasn't been anywhere near as era Ghent as Boston in every single. Steph curry. I think people. Breezy and Bella check who are the face of the New England management, very lovable. That's a very warriors a short. Three point favorites. Surprise Cavaliers have hired university of California, Berkeley women's coach Lindsey gutless to being assistant to John B on. I don't want to get on the wrong side of Sally Jenkins on this one. She is not the first she's the first head coach of a women's team to be hired by the NBA. She's not for Becky Hammon was hired. I San Antonio and Nancy Lieberman was hired by Sacramento, and you're going to see more of this, and it is going to lead to this who is the first head coach women's head coach in the NBA going to be, and the answer is I don't know that there's ever going to be. I don't I don't think this is a win. I think this is an if I think it's I do you look around, how many head coaches in all men's teams are women on a pro level. I think the answer at the moment, zero. Now, somebody may do it down the road in an another sport. But I don't I, I just don't know the intimacy of these teams make it make the sort of sexual politics of this. You cannot ignore this. You cannot ignore the potential discomfort, or oddity of. You know, women and men working together. I've worked I've done very well with women editors, I love women enters, we're not locker room. So I don't know. What do you think Chris think there definitely will be? So, but I don't know. So I just read the NBA dot com story about hiring of Gottlieb at the end of it. They say he is now the tenth woman with an on-court role in the NBA that includes three referees, and then Becky Hammon at the Spurs Christie tala ver the wizards. Yes. Maryland play Ricker. Yes. Karen, stack Omaha. Bulls assistant, a clippers player development personnel Mavericks, assistant. So I suppressed or more. I will be more and zero. Right. I don't fly. "But that's like thinking that now that you're going to pick Zion Williamson, you're going to be able to hang on Anthony. Here's what I'm going to say about the Lakers and the Celtics. They're the two most important historical franchises in the league those two and somebody there and a Lakers are a mess. They're their ownership their management is a complete mess. This is not to Boston. But if somebody there wrote on board. Hey, let's win now I would say that's a smart thing to do. Let's win now. Do whatever you have to do to win now and worry about tomorrow tomorrow. I think the Lakers feel that way. And this indicates to me that the Celtics feel that way. So we talked to before the show about the NBA finals, and you made an interesting comment about to Toronto thinking very good road team, and particularly in Toronto has played three times oracle this year and one the mall. I don't know why you I don't want anybody really thinks, like really believes that Golden State's gonna win this game now. Is that like wish casting, you think people would just because they want a game seven for all the drama that, that would be interested in what Kevin Durant said? He said, I wanted to play, I think he takes a lot of the feeling even Charles Barkley's feeling that they forced him to play. I think he takes a lot of that oughta play. And by the way, that's what I thought all along. I think it's DNA of great athletes that they wanna play hor he's watching his teammates down three one any wants to play. Now he's his position is so intriguing. We did a story yesterday, based on the reporting of people at ESPN and people at Sports Illustrated. And by the end of the day, it was many other people people, the New York Times people. At the Atlantic that, who saying there is many people are on diminished desire to sign Kevin Durant for the maximum. That means the maximum explain the maximum if he signs with Golden State. They can give them five years at forty four million dollars a year if he signs with anybody else. They can give him four years at forty one million dollars. It's three million dollars year difference, which on that level is really not all that much because it's such a staggering amount of money, but the first year that contract, you're gonna pay him to sit down and just sit around. He's not going to play. This is the he's not going to play next season. You have to you. That piece to me, feels much more known than the what is he when he comes back? Ernie one when he comes back. He is thirty two. When he comes back, he's thirty currently I don't, I don't ready. You're right in that season starts. Yes. He's a seven foot guy seeking. Seeking jump shot though. True. But with a significant leg injury that history is suggested ARCE Levy was late. Kobe was older, but it is very hard to recover to the same level can't happen. If I say top three player, the reasonable man of drop would probably put him at eight to ten, which is still better than twenty five teams have in the league..

"That's pretty pretty astonishing. So let let me get to this, and I quoted you the other day on PTI about smart guys got control of the game. And they want, right? I I'm curious about this all sports are games of offense and defense. It's a little bit more subtle in baseball because you don't think of it that way because they're not it's not an equal amount of people on the field at the same time. But the primary defense that is being played in baseball right now as a one hundred mile an hour fastball, which when hit is going to go out, I suggest that this the other day to will bond and I don't know, if it makes any sense would baseball, be better. Served would defense better served by people throwing eighty mile an hour curve balls, which are harder to get out of the park. Well, I think we're seeing more of those than ever before. Now. I saw one hanging Kirpal hit about five hundred last. Ev everything everything is relative in part of the evolution of the game. Putting the smart guys charges the way you defend hitters players in places. You never imagined. They would be before they want fast out feelers to take away hits and pitch usage is a big thing, every pitcher that comes to the Astros, they say, you know, opposing hitters hit your slider at a one thirty one batting average, they hit your fastball to eighty you. Tell us what you want to throw more of understand, you have to set it up. I in and that's that's part of the game. So I do think there are more curb balls thrown than ever before. But if you have what is heart Barry pitchers to, to, to, to comprehend is the thing you were told not to do your whole career, that's still a fastball up in the strike zone hitters can't hit, and it takes so much. Your talk to keep the ball down. But when you have guys with a, this is really inside politics with Bill, what Billy bean, starting everything with the upper a swinging up, you don't wanna you don't wanna keep get it down. You wanna get up and that's, that's it's it's a sea-change in the game. The Astros had a kid in spring training, there, number one pitching prospect force, but when he would go to the bullpen he would have a woman stand behind him with an ipad, and he wanted to see the location every pitch.
