"How lay on hands. No what's How to turn the end dead do a little work. pre work prep-work. Before you come into the game and just you. You may not have to memorize what everything does but at least know where to look it up so you can do it quickly and that kind of leads me right into my next one which is be ready for your turn so downtime. In between that's the perfect time to be paying attention to what's going on at the table and what the other players are doing and then to also formulate what your next turn is going to be so that when you turn around you're not hem hauling and you know in wasting time everybody's time trying to figure something out that doesn't mean you have to have like a fully formed plan but at least have an idea about what you wanna do and A next thing is roll the dice because dice rolls will go good. I suppose we'll go bad a lot of times. They go bad especially at a critical moment. That's why it's called the critical fail when you roll of one and so when this does not go your way or you don't get the hit. Get the role that you want. Go with it. Play it off. Even a bad role is part of role playing and so playing it off and explaining. You know if you're in combat your old critical failure on a hits you know miss and you miss badly you can do as well explain how you miss badly. What's the consequences of it. You know the twist around a fall down or the throwing arm out of your sake because you've overreached you know that kinda stuff unit so Role with the dice. Make it and make it fun because you know dungeons and dragons is a game and games are supposed to be fun. So when you're playing don't get so caught up in to don't get serious. Enjoy yourself have fun with have fun with the bad mama. Fun with the good moments and make it fun because that's what the game is all about just having fun so those are some many tips. I have for the for the game as dungeon. Master you know you know. be respectful. Have the player. Recap know what your characters capable doing. Be for your turn role with the dice. Make it fun and speaking of dice. Another rule that i have is the dice is on the floor. Cocked it's re-rule so that You know i don't want somebody dropped. The dessel flushing. Oh i've got a twenty no. It doesn't work that way. It's gotta be on the table table's work counts and so we do that and Everybody gets along just fine again. Thank you for tuning into the bipolar. "And i'm doing training for is to bring dungeons and dragons into it. Therapeutic way for our veterans and that is what does dog tags is going to be all about is our vets in our active duty soldiers intentions and dragons the league of extraordinary. I've talked about this before. It is our game that we are trying to get off the ground for children and young adults on the autism spectrum. We are still running some issues of this not necessary on our end. Mostly it's a player commitment. You know we'd get it. We had a couple of games set up and then everybody cancelled or petered out. And so we're going to try this again in a couple of weeks you're relaunch. I'm not sure what we can do. Different other than we're going to definitely make sure we secure commitments from everybody. Who are going to play and have a cutoff. Time off so that there's no last-minute players just coming in or dropping out so that's probably what we're going to deal with. The league is actually work on a making more commitments from the players to play. And so that's on the back burner for right now While i'm working on the radio show and working on dungeons and dragons in a judge dog tags And that's kind of what's going on in our world so that's about That in a nutshell Today real just for a quick show. i'm going to be talking about house rules in dungeons and dragons. Now i'm not gonna. This is not going to be an exhaustive list of house rules or anything like that but just come some key rules that i like to have at my table and think that would be great For other people to have as well now these rules of course like i said are not all inclusive but one of the main roles. One of my first roles that i have at my table is a very simple in the notice to be respectful. Be respectful to the other players. Be respectful to yourself. Be respectful to the dungeon master When you do that that covers a lot of ground you know. I mean so phone usage. I allow cell phones at my table because deity beyond looking stuff up keeping people quiet in between turns. But you know but you know least be respectful and pay attention to the game so you know so be. Respectful is one of my main rules. I have my players do a recap. So that's another house. Rule is i don't do the recap of the previous game or games. I have the players you know for several reasons one. It kind of gets me back on sink to where they're at in the game and what. They are have been observing. Lets me also kind of get a pulse of how the game is going with. As far as what's sticking out and what staying in their minds you know and what they're remembering to what they've forgotten and so that helps me out a lot and the as the session is about to start to kind of know where the players are at in this So i have them do the recap Another thing that's a house rule in that is Knowing your stuff If you're playing a cleric no your spells know what you can do know how to use channel divinity..

"We're working on getting dom from real talk from dhamma there Coming down and playing with this as well and Hopefully we'll be able to pick up one more player but three players on the game as outstanding as well too so We're going ahead and get that going and so that's may first and we won't have the cap on time like we did on the previous episode when we had that hard stop because of a network meeting that we had to attend to so this game's going to go a lot longer than one hour probably close to two and it's going to be a full adventures a little many one but actually a full blown adventure so check that out. Does dragons by believe that especially fifth edition translates well onto radio in vlogging. So there's a lot of fun to watch and to see and another project. I'm working on side. Project is dungeons and dog tags now. This is a project. I'm working on a two prong approach First one is that we once you do is bring dungeons and dragons boots on the ground in the sandbox. So afghanistan iraq basis across the world. Active-duty soldiers we would love to have you at our table and so our work. This is were still on the idea. Phase we just hatched this thing so i'm gonna. I'm working on trying to cultivate some context and dod or active duty military units Really we don't need a commanding officer a first sergeant or anything like that or chief for what not what we need. Is you just need a soldier that we can get hold of. Who's got a couple of buddies who would love to get together for some dungeons and dragons and because of my openness on my schedule i can do day or night you know so while right now You know there I think it is right now in cobb in baghdad. It's four forty one pm. It's eight forty one in the morning here so So there is a time difference of a several hours almost a full day and So i would be able to play day or night so You know they may be coming in on off a patrol or something like that overnight. Wanna come in and play at six zero six hundred. It might be clock in the morning here. But i'll be available to play and we're working on getting some dungeon masters onboard too so that we can expand the sa- right now set for me to do this but i'd like to get a couple more dungeon masters so if you're a dungeon master would love to have the opportunity to play with our soldiers overseas that are are in the fight right now Contact me if you like to throw in your support happen to have a child spouse loved one friend buddy battle buddy former units That you can get me in touch with so that can Set something like this up. please do There's no cost to this. I have all the equipment necessary already just because of the regular show so i can run a game so really all. It is is just volunteer time. that is In in the cost of this So in the second prong of dungeons and dog tags is that. I want to start some therapeutic games with veterans suffering from ptsd and other mental illnesses and disorders and so That's the other thing we're wanting to do..

How to Optimize Workspace Organization and Gain Productivity with Kathi Burns
"Don't think anyone would deny that having an organized work space helps their productivity and decrease stress. Especially when you have a lot going on it's nice to be able to just put your finger on it bingo but in your experience why is it so hard to get organized and then stay organized if it's so obvious. Why don't we want more of us do it. Well i think that oftentimes we have too much muck spe- Thank you for the good for my title by the way You know everybody has muck and sometimes when you have too much of it. You can't even see your make clear to knowing where to begin. And that's the main thing that i find with clients says they don't know where to start. They know they need to be productive. They need they know they need to put systems together but they're looking around themselves and they're going. Oh no idea where to even begin knowing where to start. I think is step one. Well that's great. So where is step one. Where do you start. You know. I can just see. There's piles of papers or stuff and if someone likes like you and i'm not necessarily picking on you but if someone comes in with with all good intentions to help get organized says well. What about this. And you're like no. I like that pile just where it is. I mean how you overcome that. Well you know. We i always start with the in goal. You know why. Why does the client want to work with me. Why did they feel the need to call the begin with what is it. That is their biggest pain point and once. I know that i can begin. To kind of edgy. around The service of their desk or the emails in their inbox. I kinda see your up. What's the biggest pain point and we start there so you know a great place to start no matter what is to clear off your desk because a messy desk. You can't tell what's going on and you become overwhelmed just even sitting down at your desk My rule of thumb is that sixty percent of your desk surface open for business. So i always say if you had sixty percent free and clear you'll have the ability to think more clearly about what you need to do for that day so i always start on the surface and some people are very married to their piles you know. I will admit that some people like don't judge that pile cycle. Let's at least move it a little bit away From the surface. Perhaps we you know. Start start slow and do a side table with paper pile in these accurately that they are used to having them but at least having the death. Surface open for businesses is step one always well. That's really interesting because instead of sixty percent clear i have to admit i'm guilty of maybe six percent missing zero there but you. You mentioned something there a second ago. I'd like to follow up on e mail. Inboxes they have a way. Exploding and in a very unstructured way. A what systems can we put in place with respect to electronic documents including our email. What do you. What advice do you have on that. Yeah i'll talk about systems in a minute. But what i wanted to remind me if i forget but sometimes i go up but what you have to realize number one is it your email any email you receive is something that wants you to do something so if you go into your inbox you're going into reaction mode. You are not going into proactive mode. You're going in to see who wants to do. What do they want you to respond to. They want you to quickly. They want you to forward. What are they want. Do you whatever so you have to realize for starters at any time you hit your inbox. There's gonna be a bunch of people screaming at you to do something and take some type of action. So for starters is always good to only check your inbox. A couple of times a day at predetermined times and actually you know. Upn beginnings actually set a timer. And don't stay in any longer than thirty forty five minutes at the most because what happens is if you you will get absorbed. You'll get sucked right into your in box and you'll be out in la la land clicking on links trying to project that wasn't even on your dinner for the day to make someone happy or so on and so forth so the number one system is to figure out when you're going to check your inbox and stick to it. You know. maybe you're gonna check. Your inbox is always say good. Thing is right before lunch. And right before you finish the day right before lunch because you know you wanna eat and you don't wanna eat at your inbox so you'll be a little bit better prompted to get out of there and right before the end of the day because you're over your over work and even though we're all working from home you know setting up specific. Starting in times of your day is really critical and break time. Who's well you know. Eating at your desk is is not necessarily good. And i know that a lot of us set hours and not eating doubts is really super important getting up and moving as well so so have a set time. You're going to check your inbox if you have to have a timer. I always say start with a timer. Start with a thirty minute timer. There's gonna being you in the airball until you to get out of your inbox So those are two really important things to do as far as systems. But i think really the most important thing is realizing that when you get in there it's reacted. You're not doing anything for yourself. Necessarily you're going to be called the do actions for other people that want you to do something for them. Does that make sense. Oh yeah that makes a lotta sense and you know. It's amazing how rude people can be in terms of call to action. I actually got one email yesterday where somebody said. Have you looked at this attachment yet. It's like hello you just sent it to me. Let me just drop everything now. You want me to look at your attachment and it was a pitch so it was It was a bit. Yeah yeah so that that got that got filed but let's talk about filing and organizing our emails because they come in such an unstructured way and like you said it's one thing how much time we devote to them. Which is some great advice you know. Let's limit it and let's not just in terms of the amount of time but when we commit the time so that it doesn't break our workflow as much so that's really good but we don't always just answer an email and then delete it a lotta times. We keep them and that box just kind of blows up after a while even the emails. We've read right so whether it's an email or another type of electronic document which email is what are some good ways to organize well when it comes to email. I recommend that all of my clients read their emails within g mail. On the big genome proponent. There's a bunch of reasons for those. And i have you know you can have all your email. Address is going into your dms account so you can have your web addresses or whatever but what that does is g mail automatically organizes for you and so it puts it into four different buckets. You know whether it could be Can't remember the name was like you know the your inbox. there's updates there's offers so on and so forth so it will automatically do that for you. So that helps. Because actually when i go into my g mail Go right into The number one thing which is my inbox. And see what's going on. And then i will go into Dates and i can literally skin them. Pick them all up ping them all and then Delete 'em
A Totally Different Way to Date with JP Pokluda
"Let's just go into it and let's talk about what you see. That is so broken. Where have we gotten this so wrong. Yeah we've we've digitized the whole process right and so you have you have guys living in fear right. They won't ask girls out. They feel like girls standards are so high that they always just say no if somebody does ask them out were sliding into. Dm's ghosting don't even have the dignity to follow up with. Hey this is where went wrong. Or i don't wanna see you anymore. It's just like hey. If i don't wanna see anymore. I just not going to respond to your text messages. And there's no there's no love your neighbor as yourself in that and so everybody is just is walking around wounded and confused. I mean those are the two words that mark the dating culture in the twenty first century wounded and confused. People are getting married later and they're they're getting married less and then the marriages that are happening. Ar- are failing more often so all of the statistics are telling us that we're in the middle of this epidemic. I mean this this real challenge that we face in the world of relationships. When i say marriage is not working out we know the divorce rates at somewhere between forty five and fifty five percents and then then on the other side of that you have all of these people who stay married. But they don't love each other they're roommates. They're not happy. And the worst if you will and so. The reality is vast majority of marriages fail. But we have more tools and resources and information to help us than we've ever had before so it brought me to. this place. rummy describes him ahead like where did we go wrong with this. And how do we help the next generation find the love that lasts like finds something meaningful and i think jenny. One thing that it comes down to is just expectations. Making sure that everybody has The same expectations because hollywood the movies the magazine's the media. They've they've really botched that we've been listening to the wrong coaches. I mean we have been taking dating advice from the people with the highest divorce rates the the biggest relationship failure rates. And those are the folks that we've turned to is the experts and say hey teach me more about what love looks like rather than going to the the author and the originator of love The one who is love and and kind of returning to his word to say okay. What are you have. What is what is your desire in relationships. How can i do this in a way that honors. U2
Crafting a Conversion Series So You Can Sell with Email
"Lot of the time in digital marketer. The things that we do aren't because we're incredibly intentional. They're out of necessity or we have a strategy that we can't fulfill on because of technology because of some other barriers. So we have to do something else and we do something else. And everyone gives us the benefit of the doubt and the credit that we had this brilliant epiphany from go and we're so put together but it's always fun at least for me to look back at how we have an asset or a process. Now that was created out of oops ryan and perry forgot to write and send emails one day probably about eight years ago. So that's why we're we're looking these templates now and that's why we were able to temple ties them and use them for all of our businesses and and what. I hope you'll to do is walk. You guys through some of the core templates and the conversion series That you can use to deploy in your business and truly built an automated follow up campaign for your business so back to the agenda. We're gonna move onto crafting your conversion series so a couple of wrap up points here. Remember the conversion series for new subscribers is going to be triggered simultaneously with the indoctrination series brand new people when they've opted in. They're going to get their your indoctrination series. But they're also going to go into conversion campaign right because going back to the question that ryan asked in the very beginning of this workshop or or at least the question that he posed in the very beginning of this workshop. You have a subscriber now. What what are you gonna do with the subscriber once you have them going back to the five phases of the follow up machine living here in the conversion phase and green is good red is bad and yellow. Is hoping that we're back on track. So we're right here. New subscriber or old subscriber news going to get the indoctrination campaign and the conversion campaign. Old is not going to get this. They are going to go into a conversion campaign because looking at this and thinking of this As it pertains to the customer value journey once someone subscribed the next most important thing for us to do is to get them convert to convert right. Something magical happens when you when you take someone from being just a subscriber just a prospect to a customer pain customer win when money or time exchanges hands when they give you money or they'll give you their time. They they change in the way that they look at you. They listen to you differently. And when you have a successful transaction they're willing to ascend so going back and thinking in here. After conversion we're focused on ascension that first conversion isn't necessary because we need to move them along from a us a low dollar or a entry point offer to a higher priced. it allows them to trust us with a successful transaction so making sure that our email campaigns and email series are are moving people efficiently through those processes. It's kind of what we're gonna be talking about here again to answer the question that ryan posed in the very beginning of this workshop. The the answers to move them quickly through the convert face as seamlessly as possible by deploying a conversion series. So let's talk just a little bit about conversion series so a conversion series is an interest based triggered campaign sent following a specific action or requests. Remember ryan talked about two types of email sends there's triggered and broadcast definitely the conversion campaign. At least an automated sense because we're building automated follow up campaign is triggered so in someone's requested a specific resource whether it's a lead magnet or whether they've subscribed for awebber opt in for a webinar. That's an interest based triggered campaign that sent immediately. Alright the job of the conversion series is to turn subscribers in the converts twice called the conversion series emails and a conversion series should referenced the previous positive reaction. This is big right. Think about if you just met someone and that personnel ryan talked about a lot about the from like your from information right the first email you send. You should not expect them to recognize you. Even if an amazing job at personal branding or branding your company they are not gonna see that email and remember who the heck you are. You haven't earned that yet. You haven't become important to them especially if they're new subscriber so if you're not tying back to that positive that previous positive action that they took they have no idea why you're emailing them and what the heck you're talking about and we are all really really busy. I bet you. I opted in for five things yesterday that i have. I don't even remember doing right. And i bet you that three of them tomorrow will email me. And i'll unsubscribe from them. Because i won't know what the heck they're talking about. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt that i opt into a lot of things. I don't believe they're spamming me. But i do believe really terrible job at reminding me why in the world they have the right to email me and why should care the way that you overcome that is referenced. The previous positive action and then prescribe the next logical. Step i if we know thinking back to the previous slide if it's interest based we know what they're interested in at least right now that may not be the only thing they're interested in but it is the thing that they were interested enough in to give you their contact information. So that's what they're interested in and you've said something on a page that talk them into giving you their contact information so you now know what they're interested in now remind them the last thing that they did your last interaction and then tell them what they need to do. Next so successful. Conversion emails will overcome or inoculate against known objections and common
Jamie Kern Lima on How We Can Go From Underestimated To Unstoppable
"Jamie kern lima on dose of leadership. This is amazing. Welcome to the show. Richard thank you so much and excited to be here to share this special moment with you your whole community to you. So it's an honor. Thank yo i gotta tell you. This is an amazing piece of work. You should be extremely proud of yourself for this. I don't need to tell you that. But i mean just from a reader. Just read this. And i've read it and i told you in the prerecording i got this. You guys fed ex this to me monday. I think got it. And i got it last night so i read it nine pm here. It is the next day. I finished it at one pm. Amazing book i just i love it. It made look. I'll be honest with you. It made me cry. I've never cried in book. it made me cry. Maybe he never cried. Okay not in a not in a book like this. I mean maybe in a fictional book. Or something yeah. It's an amazing story. Thank you so much. It's and you know it's been a journey. I think everyone of us has has a story. And i think you know just all of us are kind of on this journey. I think of. I mean for me. It's really it's really you know. So many people think oh. Is this a book about how you went from. Denny's waitress to leading a business. A billion dollar businesses like that's part of it but it's really a story of a girl who went from not believing herself to believing ourself and like not trusting myself to list like to learning how to hear my own gut instinct and learning how to trust it And just learning how to break through all that self doubt that. Hold us back so often and why i wrote. It is really like for a lot of years. I would get these. Dm's on instagram. Where people say. Oh i saw your your story Like hat like was it. Like did you just get lucky. Or because all that's out there is kinda like the headlines. And i realized oh if i don't share if i never share the real story behind the story like how it all happened years and years of rejection opposition and all those things than it's like so many other people out there that maybe are trying to launch their own dream or maybe they're trying to be a better leader or whatever it might be are gonna feel alone and their struggles if they're just reading like the highlight reel of people's success is online and so this is the first time ever but i just i took everything and kinda like throughout that filter out the window and just poured everything i had every personal and professional life lesson i've ever learned and my hope is just. It's absurd for anyone else out there who's really on that journey of like breaking through that self-doubt in and an on that journey to becoming the person they're created a bi. No i mean it's it's it's it's a prescription boards a recipe that you've kind of attacked life with anyway. What thing that's really kind of. Come out of this show and all these conversations when people ask me well. What are the biggest lessons that you've learned from talking to all these people and your book hits all of these these points that you know the prescription that is needed so that is in such lacking in everywhere we look. Is this authenticity. This transparency there's vulnerability which lends itself yet to be courageous. If you're gonna do those things because we suck adams human beings you know what we're bombarded with from our limiting beliefs are doubts. The pop culture the the social media now that just even feeds on that. I mean everybody deals with this head trash this limiting beliefs. These self doubt. It's a constant battle. You still battle with the today. I it with everybody that had on. The show has said that. And that's been a big moment for me on this show and a relief a sense of relief and reading. Your book is kind of the same feeling. That god is when you read it and because you're so authentic you're so transparent you're so vulnerable in this book and you have been in your whole. That's why you've been so successful and entrepreneur in in your brandon's accessible because of those things what do you think when you hear me say that that authenticity transparency vulnerably. That's the currency that's needed right. It is and it's scary for so many of us. I think that you know you look at so many of the studies out there that show. How like it's impossible to have a real human connection if you show up as your representative who you think people want you to be in the and the only real way to have a human connection as show like only parts parts the messy parts but a lot of people who know that awesome miss that connection of like our relationship with our customers also needs to be an authentic one our relationship with our teams and our employees also needs to be an authentic one and we ended up putting so much pressure on ourselves right social media your point to that too but we think all i a leader acts this way or we learn these things and we end up showing up is our own representative and then you know what i've learned and i don't wanna like jump too far ahead give anything up because there's so many crazy stories in the spot but wanted the leadership lessons i would say and life lessons frankly that i after which is three years of rejection a crazy story we finally got one shot on qvc. I can talk about only only if you want to but but you know being on. Kabc for united about a thousand shows live myself. And so i've met tens of thousands of entrepreneurs and brand founders and senior executives. That will go on the television for their company. And it's like all the years when i look back at. What is the commonality between the people that made it and those didn't because most people in the space they they get one shot on air and they never come back because they don't have the sales goal or maybe they they come back twice or three and then they're gone so i've seen thousands of people leave and then like what's the commonality between the ones that lasts and literally. It's not who's smarter. It's not who's more qualified or more accomplished. The people that will lasted were the ones that were the same off air in the green room as they were on here for better or worse like some were wild and crazy in quirky in somewhere very conservative and quiet and like but they were the same and it's because that live on air to one hundred million homes you can't fake authenticity and the only way for customers to connect as when you show up as you you fully are in the thing that one of the things i talk about in the book is In believe it is this lesson. I learn which is that like authenticity. Alone doesn't guarantee success in authenticity. Guaranty's failure
The Disturbing Side of Social Media Astrology
"When i was younger and a few years ago when i started to explore social media more for my astrology practice i would be so disturbed by a lot of the messages that i would get on how you know or like you know i would write an article on psychic powers and then i'd be like pleased like i need help. I need to talk to my grandfather. Or i am trying to. I'm i'm trying to get my kids back i you know. What should i do for this court and just things that were caused me so much anxiety because it was like. Oh my god like there is no had for that you know like news no easy solution and something sliding into someone's dm's randomly you're not gonna and undocked with like the r- the solution that you need for that man. Yeah and then. I kinda got really desensitized to it and i stopped caring because it was it went on for so long there were so many years of it and it was like i realized that this is just. This is just comes with the territory. Is that there a lot of desperation. That goes into a lot of the time when people come to the metaphysical world. It's because they are looking for easy answers. And there are a lot of people a lot of practitioners who actually profit off of that and make their entire business model responding to the dams. And saying i have the solution view. It's twenty five dollars hash app. Then mel hey pal you know. Imagine having a platform on top of either one of those things. Yeah i mean it's to me. It's pretty horrific that people would actually respond to those messages and Encourage those people to pay for x. y. and z. Product or service because to me magic. Metaphysical work esoteric. Practice cannot be approached in a state of desperation or anxiety or fear.
Relationship Marketing with Jessika Phillips
"I'm so excited to welcome our guest jessica phillips to the show today jessica. I thank you for being here first and foremost this. Thank you for having me gone of course well and the reason i'm excited today and yes. I'm always excited with the reason today. I'm excited as we get to talk about the power of relationships to grow a business. Does it actually happen in the. Dm's what's the what's going on today. We're not talking about networking. We're talking about relationship marketing. Let's start there. What's the value of relationships. And why are you. Why are they so important. Oh my goodness i say. Relationships are the currency of business today. Honestly because they're they're powerful always been powerful right. But i think we've lost sight of it a little bit because we got all this new technology and ways of reaching people so we thought we could save time by reaching the masses. Well something happened there. In the olden days. I would say that we all realise word of mouth was best business generator for us and really that has changed. It's still word of mouth but now we have access to world of mouth right when we look online and see what others are saying about different brands and we have access to more information products and services at our fingertips and can decide for choosing one brand over another and the most powerful decision that we can make is really influenced by others. That are talking about brands. So i know there was even study. That was done. Said online reviews whether we'd know the individual or not eighty eight percent of people are trusting reviews that are left by our peers about whether or not we should choose a brand to work with in the only people that are leading those reviews people that are psyched up about that company. I mean if we're buying something years from someone we're expecting to get the value back that we gave four that transaction happen. We're not going to go rave about it on review if that wasn't the case it's just hey. We did it. Air transaction so brands have focused in on relationships and really building that extra little something that they can do with individuals. The people that they're currently serving the ones that are going to be leaving those reviews and hopefully talking about them online. So they're showing up more often. That's now how sales are generated especially in this world that we're moving into which is that dark social world in which is a lot different than the dark web but more and more conversations are happening in the inbox even with people talking about brands in so we as companies can't even see necessarily what those conversations are being had about our business and we're definitely not getting invited to the conversation and less. We've established some kind of deeper report than a transaction with our customer. I think that's fair. I think a lot of people would say okay. Relationships are important. I wanted to hear your version of it. Because i think you start to take a different level as you know. How do we see this as an opportunity and a new way to think about our relationship with our customers. And i love that. Don't even say with you. I didn't know who you were a year ago. And i started this show. I started interviewing speakers and as follows. Their journeys like oh. They're speaking at this event in lima. Ohio and i'm like what events in lima ohio. And guess what. It's an event thrown by jessica. And so i'm like okay. Well who's jessica yu so you start to figure this out and then i mean iraq with some of the speakers and they're like jessica's awesome. You should meet her. And then we go to an event in your there and it's like these relationships start sometimes not even in person they start just in the ether if you will make just like. He's like word of mouth but it's not the way people think about it. It's like your name is living on your reputation on elsewhere that magnet versus bullhorn thing. Yeah but it's like you're tracking in your community of like minded individuals and people that are going to stick with you and advocate for you win. That's what you're putting out right like you're you're gonna find your matches very easily that the referrals from referral right and people that have done business wave more efficiently effectively and sustainably than if you're just doing the bullhorn approach that we've all been taught about marketing advertising that we just have to blast our message out loud to began to reach as many people. It's not as effective if we just focused on doing the work so people come to

"Other stuff and And that's the fan page there for those of you. Who are a real fan of the podcast. Though we do have a members group and that is the by poor diem nation under the group. Lookup and there you will find behind the scenes of abouts the podcast and as well as a what. I go through on a daily basis with a struggling living with a mental illness. And so that is our members page. Do not have to be at you. Don't have to be mentally ill to join although some question your sanity for joining my page. But anyways in today's topic we are going to be talking about s- preparing for a game dungeons and dragons game and this is for deums or perspective dams If you have not dungeon master before considerate I jumped right into it outta a out of the gate. I mean i a dungeon mashed before actually played as a character because where i was at in japan in high school We're on a military basin stars and stripes head just started carrying dozens dragon second edition. I bought up every book. Get the and seeing that there was nobody else plying to start my own game. I got buddies together. Put actually what i did. Was i put an ad in the paper and gusta resupplies and And we We got a game together. And i've probably dungeon mastered more than i have played and so i have some experience over the last twenty plus years of playing the That i can pass onto some of the rest of you Typically a lot of people ask you know. How much time do i prep. How long has your game gonna go. Generally speaking the math on that is as far as consensus go. You put in about an hour's worth of prep work for every hour. You intend to place if you're playing a four hour game than that's four hours. Prep work during the week doesn't necessarily have to be all at once I typically i've i very in how much i put in there sometimes. More sometimes less kinda also depends on a lot of what prep-work i've done when i first started the campaign and that kind of thing goes into how much warcraft to do Later on but You know the Prepping for game though you need to put some time into it. And and the more time he put in the better. You're going to dm the better experienced that. Not only your players are going to have what you're going to have as well enjoying the adventure as they go along and so leading into my tips here. My first hip is to have a plan where your p. c.'s may go tuck away a couple of those just in case scenarios pay. You've just in case things go off. The rails had a game years ago where we were. The players had just got into town. I mean just got into town. Did nothing wrong guard comes up. Introduces himself. What is one of the player. Say ride and they're off something that i did. Not freaking imagine can possibly happen turns into a foot chase in three different directions. That was amazing. Mess that. I did not expect but it was a valuable lesson in being prepared for just about anything your characters your player characters can possibly do. That does not mean. You need to know everything that they can possibly do. But have a couple of scenarios tucked away that you can just kind of tweak little bit if they if they if things go off the rails are they going to direction that you weren't expecting just so you have those in backup and also in and having a plan know where you are going because you're part of this story too so you got to have an idea about where you're going in this venture. Where is it gonna end up. What's the end knowing where you're going. And then my next tip is no your villain you know if you have a main villain. Which most campaigns do sometimes it's more of a could be the villain could be the conglomerate or guild or can be a government or something like that however it is no who you're villainous. They wants know how they want to get it and what they're willing to do to make it happen and so also the knowing your elements familiarize yourself with your npc's or non player characters you know like the The innkeeper and stable boy number three. You don't need to know their wants and needs everything like that boy. Liz and i know kinda know their basic stats and who they are what they look like when you describe him how they talk and all that and so familiar. Size yourself with your. Mpc's make watson notes. Oh gosh index cards especially the colored ones from the dollar tree. Are your friends. You can color coat your index cards to be actions or can be encounters or can be you know plot twists or anything like that and so make lots of notes sticky notes. Whatever just so anything that pops in year head right it down because if you don't write it down you're probably gonna lose it in that. Remember during the game so anything that pops in your head. Right down bullet down warm-up before the game though this is a big deal right here that you know i'm guilty of myself of not doing and that is warming up before the game and that it doesn't have to be very long maybe five or ten minutes of just listening sumo music You know some background music. Like some lord of the rings soundtrack. or something. like that. Or game of thrones and a practicing your accents in your voices and getting in character and you know reviewing your notes and in your characters villains your. Npc's prepare rewarm up before the gaming get ready. Don't going cold because if you go and cold it's gonna show amp. Repair yourself oriented adventure. It wasn't what she was putting. It was how she was doing it. That i had a problem with and i tried sued extricate myself from the conversation saying let's just In this on we agree to disagree and And that's it but she wouldn't let up. She wouldn't let up and she kept hammering at me until i exploded on her. And then i ended up getting a muted and banned from the group. Because of what she did not now. Well i did. I got banned for what i did. But i reacted badly to her. What she did to me was very upsetting. But i should never have let it get to me like that and unfortunately being bipolar and being emotionally charged like am. Sometimes it's real tough to separate myself in my emotions from the conversation stuff like that and not let things get too personal so learn lesson learned. Because i'm run out of stuff to talk about and and there's a chance a slight chance right now that i might be able to get my podcast put on a radio. Internet radio program Network and so. I've made the initial contact with that network They're looking for shows and stuff like that. I got four seasons in the. I got three seasons in the can and i'm on my fourth now so I've been doing this for about now. Going on for years. So but Hopefully those things walkout because daddy the awesome to have a regular show on the internet too but if it doesn't work out i still got my podcast. I still got my website. I still got my own promotion stuff like that. I just would like to have a broader audience to to be able to expand out to and to be able to do it like on a nontraditional slash kind of traditional style. Radio i mean is non nontraditional in that. It's all on the internet but But they if functions like a traditional radio station you know as far as you get your shows and you got your knee jays and stuff like that music. there's music and stuff like that. But there's all kinds of constant program on this website..

"Have to go through vet to do that but like the nine one shots. Those are like ten bucks at a farm supply and some pet warehouses that sell vaccines you can get a nine and one of vaccination and vaccinate the dogs yourself At you know for just ten twelve dollars versus paying forty to fifty dollars at a vet for the exact same vaccination. The only difference is it's you put the needle into the scruff behind their neck versus a vet doing it. And that is the only difference between the uh the vaccination that you buy over the counter versus one. You would get from a veterinarian. At least as far as i have found now there is a possibility that could be wrong in our would omit it if i am wrong but so far what i've seen and what i found is that you know you can vaccinate your own pets and save a ton of money and at the same time. Protect your pets as well so You know so. Vaccinate veteran maximum. Get your pets vaccine. Make sure the vaccine especially if they are in contact with other dogs such as a dog park or out in the open in public or any of those places because parvo and other illnesses are so easily transmitted between these Animals that you know wants the dog is parvo. The chances of its survival is very slim without treatment and even then the treatment can cost hundreds even thousands of dollars and even then there's no guarantee that the the treatment will will save the dog or prevent a catastrophic side effects from the illness. Even if they do survive so vaccinate get insurance amd protect your pet now going back to breeds though it's just it boggles my mind. How narrow minded people can be. I understand where they're coming from. I understand the science that they use to prove their point. You know i mean. I disagree with it. But i understand where they're coming from and for them to condemn me and my daughter just because of a breed and not because of the action of the dog is is just so wrong. I can't even begin to tell you. How upset i was by this. And you know. I'm white and black. Well actually i'm hispanic. Although but i take after my mother. So when i tell people that i'm hispanic they. They're floored because i have. You know i had red hair until may all it all fell out now. I'm bald but i have a red beard and you know my skin's pretty pale and all that and so i don't look mexican and it's real funny when people find out that i am part mexican.

Look at how the sausage gets made in this podcast and and also i do live updates and give a regular updates about My life with a mental illness. And what it's like living with bipolar. Now today's topic I had encountered something extremely distressing today. And i had you know how to take a moment to decompress before i could even discuss it because it will so upsetting. And that is the stigma and the Outright bigotry in the service dog community toward certain breeds of dogs particularly pit bulls. Now my service dog is a pit and unfortunately to them a lot of these people who look down upon pit bulls They believe that there is no place in society for pit bull to be a service animal at all because they regard them as two vicious and a only particular breeds are acceptable for Service dog works such as german. Shepherds golden retrievers. Yada yada yada basically spending thirty thousand dollars for a dog just so everybody can Say you're okay and This discrimination one. I encountered it. Today was so eye-opening that i didn't realize that this had existed in the community and And i talked to another pit bull owner who has a pit for a side Service dog today's well aim related and shared with her mike recent experience and she too has felt and experienced the exact same thing in the service dog community in how we are treated as if our dogs are lesser in real service dogs because they are not an approved breed because she came from a shelter and wasn't from a puppy mill or breeder who just cranks. These dogs out doesn't matter what the fuck day care about them you know. And it's just flat out wrong to judge dog entirely because of its breed and its background. Work came from an not based on the merits of the dog itself. In the as an individual to judge it and then condemn it. That is what lane harper on death. Row was this prejudice toward pit bulls. Now unfortunately they had earned reputation because of bad owners and extreme inbreeding of the pit bull to make them more violence and more muscular ends. I mean just at certain characteristics that are just not right for the breed and a lot of these dogs. Do go insane because of the inbreeding that is that they purposely do to make these dogs vicious animals. It had nothing to do with the dog itself and everything to do with the owner having said that the whole breed should not be condemned because of a few people who are just misguided and.

"Up-to-date contents than on the it's a little bit easier platform for me to work from what my phone and so i'm able to post videos articles as well as other information about dungeons and dragons independent writing in mental illness. For those of you who are super member super fans of this page. I do have a private membership club for the members. It is under facebook group. It is called the bipolar diem nation. And there we have behind the scenes contents about The podcast kind of how the sausage gets made as well as a live. Update that i do on an irregular basis sometimes daily sometimes several times a day and it goes over what my life is like living with a mental illness on a daily basis in so there is no requirements for membership. Just say desire to join in today's topic. We are going to be talking about playing in character. I have been doing a series of podcasts on dungeons and dragons and we started off with doing a podcast doing a review of d. Beyond and then there's the podcast we just did a previously about playing on a virtual tabletop online. And so the next one in this series is now playing in character. Got let you know about my background. I got a background in theatre Back in high school middle school. I didn't do it in college. Just because those kids were just too damn weird and then when i went to seminary they just didn't have drama and but at high school and lettered in drama. Actually got a letter from my letterman's jacket and drama and took the classes did plays i wrote. plays produced. Plays had a blast doing it. And then i got into dungeons and dragons and all that theater experience just really helped translate over especially improv in acting in character and so what i really was able to do with taking this into dnd. What i really enjoyed most was that i was able to play my own creation. Set a playing somebody else's creation and a play. I'm in my own adventure. Was my own character doing what i want them to do in behaving the way i want them to haven saying what i want them to say and so we're going to get into some tips into role playing. This of course is not exhaustive of all the tips out there or anything like that. But there's a couple tips here first and foremost practice alone. Yes it can be quite embarrassing practicing voices and characters and stuff like that in front of other people so find a nice quiet place where you're not going to be disturbed overheard and practice voices in practice mannerisms and stuff like that and allow yourself to really just kind of be free and so practice alone second. Think know who your player character is. You know not only just knowing the stats is stuff like that. But right a background for them and know what your character came from him why they became an adventurer. And what it is it is that they want most out of life and so no these things about your character know what their speeches i can. They speak with an accent. It's kind of accents. What what are their mannerisms when they talk to talk with their hands. Are they very vocal. You know little things make a big impact. And so you don't have to be a voice actor like matt mercer or any of the guys on chr- guys and gals on critical role You know little things make a big impact slight changes in your accent. Picking up a little bit of an irish accent or a scottish accent. You know here. And they're working on the russian accent. You know the little things you really do make a big difference in one of the ways that helps with learning accents is to listen to them. Youtube youtube the hell out of foreigners. Listen to their accents. Just listen to how they speak and kind of try to absorb and pick it up and so d little research on. What kind of accent that your character my have or if you don't do accents how about vocabulary change you know speaking more eloquently in using bigger words in and stuff like that or using simpler words you know. Grog need beer. Just a slight changes in the vocabulary can make a big difference in when you're playing a character in the manner of the speak also does it. Do they speak. Forcefully really put a lot of gravitas in their voice or they were meek and mild in. They speak softly. Get into character before the game so you know ten minutes before the game should start you know. Get yourself a soundtrack of music. Listen to you know that saint character. You know something like really like the soundtrack for tolkien lord of the rings or good classical. You know music or the hon. There the who. I'm sorry. The who bunch hunts there are called. Who h you a great mongolian ban and i tell you what it really pumps you up while listening to some of that music but get a soundtrack for your character. Practice your voice as you're getting ready to go into play kind of get that accent going to or that manner of speaking and then take a moment to review your player character sheet as well so you know the got you got your background stuff on there like their ideals and bonds in traits and flaws. Get familiar with those in play those into your character. Those are my tips. I have for helping you out with getting into character there. Some other things you can do like watching improv practicing improv. You know You know just do all kinds of stuff just to find out what it what you are capable of doing. 'cause you'd be surprised how far you can go with a little practice and a little ingenuity a little tweaking here and there and then you're gonna be talking like you know anybody different. So thank you gift for listening into the bipolar diem. I am your host jason. Be sure to check us out on facebook at the bipolar. Dm be sure to also join our membership club. Our membership group. The DMM Foundation: Putting Your Crypto to Work for You
"You just kind of remind us A little bit about the dm foundation. Sure so dm that sounds for defy money market And it's run by a foundation and basically it's pretty simple. What is trying to do is really just trying to solve the dual problems problems of one currency debasement and then the second is the possibility of earning interest and so we have a defy protocol basically that empowers anybody connected to the internet who has crypto to earn six point two five percent Stable correlated yield on their assets We do that through Basically a protocol you can interact with The compound that you convert your either. Us dc die either or use dt into. What's called 'em tokens. And then this earned six point two five percent. You can come in and out at anytime. You want one of the big differences. Where we're focused is is really. We know that in the crypt space time yield can be like a thousand percent and then it could be like point two percent right and so define money. Market is really focused on a stable interest rate. And the way we do that as we actually connect and interest is generated from real world assets that are all viewable on chain and this provides. It's very stable. Six point two five percent return and we use chainlink. Oracle's where all this information now is transparent into what's backing up the eco-system and the portfolios sentence producing this interest So it's governed by dow the dow. So oh it's full decentralized governance and we think that it's a new way that i think a lot of folks are interested in because again it kind of helps you solve the ability for debasement because all the all the assets actually buy real so we have an inflationary environment real senator. Pretty good the second thing is you can get the view into the underlying assets and you get the stable six point two five percent so it's been pretty well received by the market in that i think we fit in niche in the overall space grip space.

"Like he would so he can keep track easier and it's also not available to link campaigns to encounters although you can't group your encounters by campaign you can't like go to your campaign click on campaign and then i'll send pull up. Also all the adventures that are encountered that are tied to that particular campaign. so that's a a lacking that they could improve on what the beyond and the other thing is you're not able to create non player characters and this is something for the dm saying the non player character is a player character. Except it's one that the dungeon master runs and unfortunately the beta version does not make a distinction between player characters in non player character so this can throw things off a little bit now. I understand this is only a beta version. But i'm already finding quite useful in the During game play. And i'm really anything they do now is just going to be an improvement on the encounter beta answer. I'm looking forward to any other. Things are going to do. My suggestions of course are to fully link the player character sheets to the encounters and to link the encounters to deums campaign. So it'd be easier to find and of course if they could reduce the cost of buying online books. That'd be even better Overall great purchase if you're interested in and e. beyond You know you're looking at other places like real twenty. They don't do the same things as dnd beyond andean dnd beyond complements other platforms. And that's what they're really working for so they're not working on replacing virtual tabletops like roll twenty but to complement them and work with those Other platforms thank you so much for tuning in. 26,000 Handmade Hair Scrunchies
"Names christian for horbert and firm cedar rapids iowa. My side hustle is friend band and it comes from my middle maine Which is bryn and speech episode. Seven thirty seven and when i first started i wanted something that would kinda along with what i was doing so i started with just crunchies but i didn't want to just be like christian scrunchy so I kind of brainstormed on what i wanted to do. And brin and bands kind of just fit together and kind of work from there. So it's dance and i create different handmade harris s raise or ladies across the nation about two and a half years ago. I was at my old job. And i was in charge of some college girls through the summer camp that our college hosted so Scrunches are making a comeback. And they knew. I was crafty and so they asked if i could make them a scratchy And it kind of just snowballed from there. And i was like sure i'll try it. I knew that In the ninety s my mom had actually made scratches She works at a hospital. She just made them and all the nurses loved them and so i asked her for help Because you can find it on youtube and everything. But i wasn't really satisfied with a Tutorials that i was finding the of work Cheaper quality so. I knew my mom made really good ones. That didn't snap burn. Vance is my main hustle now I guess it would add that. I'm a mom as well so the last time we talked i was still working at the community college as a program developer and shortly after our interview is when i realized the potential for bands to be able to grow and for me to be able to focus full time on it and i also found out was pregnant so i knew i had nine months to work from home and grow brin bands and then i was gonna figure it out when my son came. It's so crazy to see. Burn band started using crunchies. So now we've added all these product lines as well also have headbands in different styles. There's like a turban nodded in a tied on one We have scratches for little's all these new products so it's just really exciting to see the growth that we've had in different product lines and everything is still with that band name so a headband had is still has it. So that's still my focus. I feel like a lot of times we borrow is like. Can you do t shirts. And i'm like that's just not what brin bands stands for and i feel like just changed the focus of our here sassari can align. We've edit all the new product lines so it's a lot of cannock customer so i'm really proud of that and some other things on se. I just reached my twenty six thousand transaction mark. So i sold. I've had twenty six thousand transactions on esi so that's a lot of products that i've made. I guess one little pass of though i love it seems like at least once a month they will get a message in. Albon Replaced by Perez in Red Bull's 2021 Line-Up
"First topic for discussion today. Something actually we chat about quite regularly last year. But i haven't had the chance to go in depth on the costs over the christmas and new year break. I'm not reports driver lineup. Now of course we now know that. Sergio perez has been signed to partner. Max for slapping while. Alex album is team last year. And so the second half of two thousand nine hundred has been made. The team's reserve driver album also compete in the revamped. Dm category in twenty. Twenty ways efan commitments. Allow this and we understand. He'll be driving a ferrari. Four eight eight. Gt three alongside rebel genius liam northern. How big a hit. The think being mighty back to reserve driver an out formula one in terms of racing for at least a you know a whole calendar year. How do you think that how big hit that. he's f f one ambitions. yes he can. I think that it is so different when we saw by pierre gasoline daniel via meet similar fight when they were sent back to toro rosso and that them released the chance kind of rebuild that career and keep racing in athlon keeps it of all not rada christine made clear a few weeks folded station and the end of the season. That if alvin didn't get a rebel safe next year he will be our. Beth won't completely on on the sidelines. Although the team has said he's gonna be undertaken an extensive testing and development program with a view to twenty twenty. Eight doesn't really give much of a chance to actually sort of show. Boy he can do in really strike back and before about something the by them caveat when he made his his second comeback with taurasi s scoring podium nine and of cpi guiseley to an enormous two great right away three twenty twenty that were both able to rebuild and get these big results. The made everyone go. Oh well they're still decent. They're still performing and day. She for the albany. He doesn't really have the opportunity and going into a very sort of new. Dtm series with the gt three rules that they're updating ultimately not raced in ten tops. Ever i don't think so. I think that's going to be a big change for him and yeah i think it's just a it's it is a real big sat back and i think the full red bull i think just got say i don't really see what he goes from hits bonus nothing gets allows useful. Okay he's going to be playing such a big role in that too much to development. I think unless peres absolutely stinking year in that say realistically red bull going to be looking out. But if someone's come back with twenty twenty because are they need. Wii the perez goes beyond the initial one year contract. He signed or they'll look further into janea program if he's not has an amazing first year without tariff some let your e bits really stand out. I don't know me album just seems in this way. It's sort of purgatory state right now. I don't know where he's actually gonna

Armie Hammer's Alleged Strange DMs Leaked
"The disturbing rumors that had the internet going crazy. They have to do with the one and only armie hammer. Now are trending on twitter after some very strange. Dm that appear to be from him leaked. The alleged messages were Being shared on social media included counts of sexual accidents and fantasies. The messages include things. Like i need to drink your blood and you're my angel. You're made to save me now. He has not verified the messages. But here's a little twist. Okay follow along with this one. The woman who initially posted some of these. Dm said they were fake but then later came back claiming she wasn't the one who said they were fake. It was armies fans and another woman who has been spotted out with arm in the past tweeted that the she thinks the. Dm's are real now we've reached out. Two armies rep for common have not heard back. So what do you guys think is going on. What is real what is fake. Oh my god. That's essential question everyday like what's real. What's not real I think that they are probably real. So i believe that there probably real. I have spent very limited time with armie hammer but in the experiences i have spent with him. I've known him to be nothing. But an extremely lovely and Charismatic individual is just. Can't stand the idea of like. Obviously the messages are a little alarming. They're a little bit out there or a lot of it out there. You can read them in full in your own time. But it's just so like it's his personal messages. I just don't know why he's like typing things out that and we're like just putting them on blast like i don't know he was married for a long time and maybe he was feeling like he needs to get experimental. I one of you can say anything at any point. I'm ready rigidly word in there a few times here again. We have not verified that. They're real you know. It just seems odd. The girl who claim to fame for posting these you know was screened. Chancing their fake and then she says well that's not really fake army armies fans so that they were fake. It's a lot of easy to create a photoshop. Dm we're twenty. Twenty-one anyone can do that with an iphone app. It's not like the most complicated photoshop process out there. It'd be hard for me. I don't know how i would. I don't even if you said. Please photoshop at the. I don't know how well i agree. But there's a lot of savvy. Okay so here's the thing. Though if they're not real an army probably doesn't want people thinking out there that he likes cannibalism. So if he doesn't then why not say something.

Look at the podcast and my daily life with mental illness in my struggles with bipolar disorder. And today's topic we are going to be talking about the dm's secret role or the dungeon. Master's secret dice roll now. This is a little bit of a controversial topic amongst players Far as they don't like the idea of a dungeon master having secret rolls or something going on that they don't know about s- and they are very vehement. Sometimes about all dice rolls being an open. But there's a couple reasons why i don't like having a open public rolls i like having the secret. Dm real now. Before i go into those ones. I want to kind of Freeman this was some some little limitations on the dm secret role now. What the dm secret role is is basically the dungeon master just rolling the dice behind the screen and For whatever reason you know whether it's For a random encounter whether it's a reaction who knows but The dice roll is done out of you of the character of the player characters and so they're not able to see what the dice rolls are are or what they're actually four. And so one of the reasons. Why i i liked the dm secret role is so that i can do random stuff or you know. The player characters are kept guessing and one of the some of the limitations. I do place on the role as one. I never use it during combat. All my desk rolls during combat whether spell casting or anything else is done openly out out in the open so that everybody can see it also The secret role. I not sue or have avoided i have avoided using it. Punitively Although it is very tempting sometimes to if the player characters are misbehaving or something like that to throw something their way with the random encounter. but i don't use the dice rolls punitively now. I do also sometimes randomly notices when we're talking about in real life randomly. Roll the dice just to keep the players wondering what's going on behind the screen and so playing the dice. Rolling the dice can be Can help build tension during a game to 'cause player characters. Don't know if i'm rolling because there's a possible encounter About the happen. Or if they're going to be ambushed or if they're coming upon a trap All those things and so the secret role is a very valuable tool now. why believed that the dungeon master should have the secret role. First of all it's tradition. I mean the dungeon master is traditionally had this role for you know close to forty years that you know. Since the game was invented in the mid seventies and i'm sorry mid eighties seventies seventies. yes eighty s well anyways What the games invention you know we had had this secret dice roll and now with A discord in other online platforms. Where you have dice spots you know you're able to roll I still think that the secret role should be kept in play. And i think that it's very valuable tool as long as it's not abused and that is kind of my take on that. What the dice rolls. Thank you for tuning into the polar. Dm i am your host jason. Turning the Page with Peloton Instructor Jess Sims
"Today. I am sitting down with jess sims. She is a peleton instructor and extraordinary. Human just how you doing always better when it gets talk to you emily. Oh gosh i watched. Just this makes my day. I've been looking forward to this conversation all day here on here at all. I am catching up with some of my all time. Favorite guests from the last couple of years away to round out the year and so naturally one of the most listened to episodes of hurdle in two thousand twenty a yes. Stop it star jazz. You're making me blush things that you can't see on a podcast so i'm bringing just sims into the mix adjust how are loaded question to start off. How are you doing. i love me. Loaded question on a right now. Do well thank you for asking. It is my day off and not by getting to be adults things that i like to push aside on my busy workdays in just enjoy. It's snowing actually for the first time in new york city today. See technically speaking. It's been snowing for a few hours. So i will take the like sundance with like for the first time with a grain of salt. I've definitely seen snow this year. But this is like a new. No yes i mean. Nobody teaching and inspiring all. You're socio. I mean okay fine but yes fair. I looked out the window. And all i see is white. So it's a. It's officially a good snow day. I'm into it. I'm into it so i mean we're talking about snow now but we've been talking about for. The last year is the fact that this year is unlike any other. So give the hurdlers. Catch me up a little bit. Talk to me about how your twenty twenty has been. Oh man Twenty twenty what a year it has been it blows my mind that it's december. Let me start off by saying that. I feel like the last before before. Twenty twenty bt. I'm gonna. I'm gonna coin that officially here the last like memory i have before. Pre pre pandemic was black history. Month that peleton and so it's wild because we're revving up for black history month. Twenty twenty one and so am i wait a minute. I just feel like i. It's a time travel but it's been a year full of a lot of stuff a lot of alone time a lot of reflection a lot of community a lot of realization that i'm really excited to dive into with you today and i wouldn't have traded and of course this year has been brutal for so many reasons for so many people but i wouldn't trade this year because it's done so much for me personally. It's also gotta be really interesting. I mean especially with what you do. So many people around the country around the world are looking toward peleton this year for inspiration and motivation and like sanity and you are the person that is providing that sanity to so many people so i would imagine that although what a beautiful opportunity to connect with these people like pressures on me. That's how i would see it from my point of view like i would imagine that for you. Maybe more than ever being really honest about what you need and where you're at is so important to show up for your community totally and i think that that's one of the things that i pride myself on. Always being very real so I was just talking a couple of weeks ago. you might have heard it in class By the way. Thank you for taking classes. That i love the phrase. Amplify the positive. Because it's not you don't wanna be overly optimistic to the point where you're annoying. It's the point where you're like okay. But you're you're undermining the pain and the suffering that so many people are going through but you can always find the positive and by using the word amplify it's acknowledging that life is not all roses but there are some beautiful things much. Choose to put those up higher. Focus on motives and for me personally. It's the secret as saying this whole thing. Secret thing that i was thinking in my head was yes. Wow i am doing so much for other people you know. We're almost four million members of our world wide with at the time and i don't take role lightly whatsoever and but the secret is that y'all have done more for me than you could ever imagine because there was a point in time where i was not working out unless i was teaching. I couldn't get myself to be motivated enough to get up and teaching. Because i didn't want to do it for myself. I was like oh it's easy to just you know. Hang in today's easy today to just you know. Forget about those goals. And forget about the things i said i wanted to do. But because it's my job. Because i need to show up i find my strength in the stories of our members. And so when you get a dm or a comment or your tagged in a post though someone saying jess the i'm your the only bright spot. Peleton is the only bright spot in my twenty twenty. I'm a essential worker My mom is sick. am a single parent. I have three kids under three like. There's the story's never cease to amaze me and on my toughest arcus day I'm like these people need me in able to transcend myself and realize that it's bigger than me and i'm able to get up there and perform and i it it it helps me. I hope just as much as it helps others.

The book is the monsters know what they're doing combat tactics or dungeon Master's by Keith Lamont. This is a book Des based on his popular blog the monsters know what they're doing and on the inside cover a describes the book as and the girls Dungeons & Dragons game a dungeon master has to make one decision after another in response to players Behavior and the better the the players the more unpredictable the behavior. It's easy for even an experience d m to get bogged down in the on-the-spot decision-making to or to let combat devolve into a boring slugfest with enemies running directly at the player characters and biting bashing and slashing away and the Monsters know what they're doing. Keep them on lightens the DMS burden by helping you understand your monsters abilities and develop bow plants before your 5th edition D&D game sessions begin just as soldiers don't whip out their field manuals for the first time when they're already Under Fire a DM shouldn't wait until the baby is if just encountered a dozen bullywugs to figure out how they Advance fight and Retreat easy to read and apply the monsters know what they're doing is essential reading for every diem. This book has been a very great resource. It contains Monsters of the humanoid type which we would include goblinoids Cobalts or chrome wheels, lizard-folk NPCs monstrosity, like ettercap face spiders displaced or beats and now Bears Giants Undead like skeleton zombie shadow schools and gas aberrations such as beholder's in selective hours and mind flayers fiends, like lesser devils and greater Devil's hell hounds and rushes. Celestial such as Angels empyreans unicorns and Pegasus e Faye which would be pixie Sprites and dryads Elementals, such as animated objects scarecrows held Horrors and shield Guardians chooses implants and be such as stirges dinosaurs of flying snakes. The book is very well written and organized. It covers just about every single creature that you're going to find in the Monstrous manual giving town as far as how they fight whether they snipe from distances or go to the toe-to-toe with Fighters and other other creature other PCS and or who they target first whether they target the most strongest player or they target the spellcasters first if they're an intelligent creature, no, Mount Magic I have found that this book has been a very great asset for me in my own campaigns. I've been using it for several weeks now and it does God make more realistic combat tactics and more more realistic encounters with these kind of creatures cuz not every encounter has to end up going Ace Combat and knowing what the creatures do and how they react to PCS makes for interesting gameplay. I picked up my copy of this book at Barnes & Noble, but it's also available at Books-A-Million Amazon and and just about any other major book Outlets Keith emotion also has a second book out which described which goes over player character tactics and how they should work out together. I highly recommend both books. I although I have not read the second one, but based on the first one this one I have in my hands. It has been a great asset and believed that the second book probably would do just as well too. I would suggest if you are a dungeon master to pick up a copy and to go through it. I don't have to read it cover-to-cover. It's just like the monsters manual you can just go straight to the monster itself that you're looking up and it adds more realism to the combat phase of Dungeons and Dragons and makes for a more interesting game. This probably is the first time that I've done a book review since high school, so I don't know all that needs to go into it. But now I do recommend this book and I do think that if you're a dungeon master is a great addition to your library. Thank you so much for listening. And if you course have any topic suggestions questions comments snide remarks leave those snide remarks to yourself, but nothing else. Sometimes every couple days sometimes several times a day and today's topic. Well we're going to be talking about is we are going to be talking about a project. That's me and my friend Jay are doing it is a Dungeons & Dragons game for kids with autism. Now, if you're not familiar with autism it is a development disability law that affects social skills causes repetitive Behavior difficulty with speech and also with nonverbal skills. This is a very odd. misunderstood illness and many people don't really understand what it's like to live with it or what the people who suffer from it what they go through Now especially at a young age because this is usually being more and more diagnosed at younger ages kids run into, you know, a lot of problems with their social skills in making friends and keeping friends and and having to explain certain behaviors or why they cannot speak like everybody else or why they avoid eye contact or other, you know, nonverbal cues Dungeons and Dragons on the other hand is a if you're not familiar with Dungeons and Dragons just is on this most basic sense Collective storytelling. Imagine if you would when you were younger and you read a book Peter Pan or Alice in Wonderland, or you know Knights of the Round Table and imagined yourself in that book. What would you be? What kind of character would you be like in what would you do if you age Go anywhere in that world of King Arthur or Peter Pan or any of those other places and do whatever your imagination is, you know, that's the limit to what you can do Dungeons and Dragons takes that and inserts you in a story as a character. And so you play a character along with several other players home and a dungeon master. Who is the main Storyteller we use dice to introduce Randomness into the story. So it's not predictable. We never know where the story is going to lead us back together. We we've and tell this story together of an adventure. So you take that you combined it together with kids with autism other doctors and therapists have done it for years. There's several groups out there. Mostly a lot of them are based on the west coast and up along that up. As far as Seattle that have taken place therapy and introduce Dungeons and Dragons into it and what they'd found is that the kids found a sense of social more socialization because they have to interact with the other players that are at the table most often. A lot of them could be just complete strangers to them. And so this forces them to get out of a shell so to speak and to interact and to grow socially it also helps them grow use their coping skills, whether they're dealing in real life with a disappointment in the game or getting overly excited or they can also have their characters practice out these coping skills in the situation. At the character finds themself in and so you can work out all kinds of scenarios that would allow them to think about and strategize them. So if I had a chance to do it myself, what would I do or how would I handle this? And so we're adding all those things into the Dungeons & Dragons game for these kids the way we got a lot of logistics to get through as far as how we're going to organize it. Me and Jay are writing the adventure right now too. So, you know, we're trying to make this Venture it lasts for about that. Let's say between four to six sessions is how much how many games will probably play song we play for six weeks if we're playing every week and we'll be doing this online on Discord and we will then, you know, bring the kids off. Bring the kids to the end of the adventure and at the end of The Venture will take a little breather and then start over again with a new adventure maybe with new characters and stuff like that. And as a care players grow in their abilities and Dungeons and Dragons will allow them to also create from scratch their very own characters, you know, something that's starting off will have pre-generated characters that are already made up. They just choose what they want to be, you know, whether it's a wizard or a rogue or a fighter or a paladin off or a monk then, you know, whatever race they want to be whether that is Elf or human or halfling or dwarf or gnome or half work, you know, so that I can be any kind of race or any kind of class and together create this character based on the sheet that I would hand them with all the stats and everything like that, so they know how to place And then we'd go at it. Just have them go on an adventure. Thank you again for listening to the bipolar d m. I am your host Jason. Be sure to send me an email. Minute audios of what's going on in the bipolar DMS world as well as what it's like to live with a mental illness on a daily basis those updates come sometimes day long. Sometimes every couple days sometimes several times a day just kind of depends on my mood and what I have to report especially if there's something new and upcoming that just happened in my life that I would like to discuss and not wait for until tomorrow today. We are going to be discussing panic disorders and also social anxiety kind of two of those together one of the reasons why is because the techniques as far as how to cope with both of those whether it's a panic attack or if it's a social anxiety or basically the same really probably the major differences is medication, although there are medications to take birth. Social anxiety, but the idea behind this is not to denigrate using medication for panic attacks or social anxiety. But to add to your toolbox of things that you can do to help overcome and to get through a panic attack or through social anxiety. So again, I'm not saying don't take your meds or meds or bad or any of that stuff. I take meds and I have meds to help calm me down to Earth. But the idea is to add to your toolbox of the things that you can do. And the first thing that we that is very useful is deep breathing techniques. Now when I say deep breathing, I mean not only using your chest muscles, but actually using your abdominal muscles as well. Breathing belly. Breathing is probably another term for Thursday. Babies do it young children do and at some point we go away from that and then start doing chest breathing which is shallower and not as deep. And so the lower lobes lobes of the lungs don't get as much oxygen in them and with belly breathing or deep-breathing you fill all the lobes of the lungs up with oxygen found that increases your oxygen levels in your blood stream the O2 SATs, which also naturally helps release in the morphins in other feel good hormones to help you naturally combat a panic attack or social anxiety..
