Starting in december amazon kindles won't be able to connect by three g meaning. "To go to our meeting and movie now so anyway could've man's game dot com and use promo code but still for twenty percent off all the stuff And we're back and we're back so speaking of hot once. I have a anecdote. Okay oh yes unless you had something you wanted to say. We're still thinking about the. Maybe okay so i made a talk recently about hot ones. The last talk. I posted and okay. It's the last one i posted. So basically i was saying my strategy would be to go to a dentist. Get a bunch of mouth numbing cream throat around my mouth go on and not feel anything just like eat as much move immediately million comments saying your throw it's gonna close up and that sort of thing and i was like okay. We'll get pin sticking doc saying that but like you could do that. But then they're saying how would you talk so so obviously that wouldn't work. But i think like like that was an interesting thing about hot ones but also people until talk actually like that one so i think i was thinking in there that you guys should start a tick. Talk for your podcast. Specifically about idea is not a bad idea. We got i think you. I think when i came out. You're probably initially dismissive of. Yeah but i think powerful. It's new. it's i think a lot of people are going to give them what they want. There's a new generation and they're they're not on instagram. Everyone on talk. That i have seen is super supportive. Like like whenever i started out on youtube when i was a kid. Get tons of hay comments on tick-tock now people are super supportive. They immediately forgave me for the time. When i did lie but outside of that's what i'm talking about like there's just supportive in like if i'm like doing this thing today. People are like. Oh that's awesome like hope. You have a good day like yeah so it's a pretty good environment for nice. People seem nice on there. Everybody's everybody's doing numbers on their everybody gets to go viral. And there's there's uh appears of ours that are on their on tick-tock now i can think of some peers. Yeah it's true. Like yeah. I mean like he's doing good. It's good you know is doing good stuff on there. I mean we we. Should you know. I get a lot more views on their than youtube. But it's my videos on. There are not as impactful as videos. Much more passionate and you're most popular talk this one. I made a couple of weeks ago. Where i don't know why it got so popular but i said hey there's this video where someone took my so basically if people don't know there's this meme that got made from two mild videos so like it's just like the videos when taken a screen shot of create. A very like immediately tells a story. So i think that's why it became a popular meam for the listeners. At home with i. It's it's a it's called diary. Thirty superman is coming to school diary. Thirty one humiliation got like an unfortunate title but anyways people like it a lot and it's actually really good for my career because that got popular a couple of years ago and then so many people know about me because of that and anyways my like a few weeks ago i posted a tic. Talk where someone had posted a tick talk. That was like a video. They took a screen recording petro. Pascal i think is his name From lauren a video of him at a table read where he is reacting to something. Or he's crying about something and so wait. Wait what does he do. He's laughing and then it turns into a cry so they played it alongside diary thirty dire thirty one because it starts out happy. That's what people use that mean for. Now is something that starts out. Good in sat like travis turn travis scott into that whenever. He did his batman costume. 'cause you thought it was cool but it didn't work they use my discover the various because basically it's about someone who thinks something good is going to happen and then people clown on them. That's a template now so it's really good for me because then people are like. What is this actually from albert. And then they watch my new video remember so might take. Your superman. costume is way better than travis. God's batman costume. Could i ask you. Did you wear the superman costume to school. Yeah yeah that's what the whole video is. Yeah but what. Can you tell me what happened like remember. I wore it. And it wasn't superhero or celebrity. And then i made a video about it because i was making everything videos about everything back then but then the tick talk i made was so. That's the talk that someone else made the ticked. I made was a duet with that and basically what it is is just saying. Hey everyone why does it. People keep me this. what does this from. I was just curious like what is what does this. Where does pedro pascal doing. And a and then it got three million views like nothing. I didn't that was i. I put effort into some. I take talks and not that one and then the other day i literally made a talk that said hey everyone a few weeks ago to talking about this that went viral and i have no clue i got a million and then i made another one the next day. That said hey. Every time i reacted that goes viral. So i'm going to keep doing this every day. Now and then that didn't go viral. So you just once you once. You're trying. i was trying to before. I even tell you the idea that i i mean like it would be like we shoot a video. Maybe you get some footage of like penny walking around outside without a caller and then us you know looking at it and then all of sudden penny walks in the door and we're like oh my god like what you and right now in my channel. Will we do this after. But we get the footage. Now and then later you'd be like like i don't know what are the teams you know how they do it like. Oh my god. Y'all like the craziest thing happened with. Mal is recording. well bill. This could backfire. I don't wanna do that. Yeah because i have burned one bridge we have one. It could be on ours. Like oh my god. Y'all the craziest thing happened to me. Say crazy antique talkers. Like is that cringe. Or they're pretty they might. What if the ablest crazy. 'cause right what can we say. You can see that wild. Why and yeah interesting. We are recording with actor. Dax flame In the cutest little dog walked into the house and we didn't know what it was. Anyway brands gonna keep it okay. And then the the episodes out and the dog the dog. Maybe the dog is like a whole podcasting. Oh back maybe the dog sitting in the chair rough..

"House before we started recording. And then you had to go. that's true. Yeah who's your first solo episode brennan. Yeah And now now you're back but things have things changed since last since where we last left off you're kind of just putting out of feeler to the world of You know just looking for any kind of job or whatever. Yeah i explained vampire weekend at gmail.com yet. That's my email. I knew i was working at the ice cream shop but i forgot athlete asking for a job when it was on your podcast. I forgot it's definitely searching for a new job at that time when they started to cut ours back now as you implied it's changed. I don't work at the ice cream shop. Just got lucky and got some youtube stuff going on read. So you're back. You're back in the mix. Yes that's huge. I was just watching. That i dubs. That's honestly. I was kind of sad to hear that you left the ice cream shop because it looked pretty good people like the taste of it. It was not not my favorite place to work but that came out two years in two days ago or one year in two days ago almost exactly one year ago and that just blew the doors open for my youtube career. I'm trying to trying to keep those doors open. Yeah trying to keep going dog. Fine fini's penny. It's fine penny. Chill penny sh penny. Come over here come here. That's fun brand. Walk down with a dog today. Affected accident is pending. Have a wild move in my opinion but you know he's role is mostly chill. She's mostly really quiet. But the the items. So the i dub stock that that was sort of the beginning of a dax lame renaissance yet because To to catch people up to what happened in between after after you were on the podcast you did. The did the dock and got f- did the dot fired. Everyone got fired. They closed down realize now. No more ample ample hills creamery. Yeah i never said the name officially. But i think it's safe to say now because the owners don't even own it anymore. So else has it but yeah i hit the name when i wrote the book because i wrote a book wrote a book called ice cream and your second year. Second book memoir of three of a memoir trilogy. Yeah the i was. I'm sitting on offense. ice cream. Man index flames guide to making money as an influencer and the ice cream shop. Shutdown started working at a sushi place. Pandemic i got an employment. That was a very nice check that get and just put my nose to the grindstone on that third memoir than the dot came out. And now i've just had a lot of youtube stuff going. I'm trying to get a million subscribers before the end of the year. Okay so just to really make sure. I stay on top of it. Don't let this one slide away. 'cause i've had bigger career. Things happened before and they slip away. So yeah what was the. I'm interested in how to make money isn't influence. Or what was that book. That was a book that started out as not a memoir started out. I was trying to write a guide on how to make money as an influence Because i know a lot about that. Just because i've been in the influence or game for fifteen years almost now and regional original youtube. Yeah original youtube star this sixteen most subscribed at one point back in the days of of you know like early ish yes smash mush bow and higa blowback back in the day. Lisa nova recent over my friend. Yeah yeah and and so. I i thought you might as well write that. See if i can make some money. Because i also created this website. Wealthy influence dot com. I actually own that domain name still. I don't currently operate the site anymore. I had been we'll before the dot came out. The doctor took a very long time to come out. And i was like i wonder if this is actually gonna come out so i was trying to think of like how can i ensure my future works out and so i did build. That website built a whole website. Right now it's got to be professional. I i built. You can see all the tools features and everything which i haven't developed by my gosh. This was my mail simulator. My major project at the beginning of quarantine was super focused on wealthy influence or dot com. And it's now because there's been so many things going on in my life has a positive result of the dubs doc. I've completely forgotten.

"Fm to get started all right. Welcome to yeah but still joining us. Very soon is a gas. That's been on this show brennan by the way say. Hello hello return. The return of dax flame yes. Previously brandon did a solo episode with dax flame. Engineered this but i pretty much let you to cook because honestly i was fairly unfamiliar with him at the time. I'm a little bit more on. I'm a little bit more familiar now. But i i feel like i could use a little refresher and also i think dax's like a mysterious character that if you didn't experience him in his in the early days i think it's worth explaining him brandon Yeah so you up with them like watching his stuff. I grew up. Yeah we did not grow up together. I absolutely know his his his friend. Now but Back in the day. Like oh like two thousand seven youtube waikiki was. Here's early early. Youtube and Would post these These blogs early like oh seven logs and you know he was a people. People didn't know what to make of him at the time You've seen you've seen his stuff. It's kind of like well. The early ones. It seems to me that it was almost like watching like a video diary of the most painfully nerdy kid of all time. Almost to the point where you're like okay. Is this like scripted. Somebody like writing some of these. Because he's so perfect. You know like that famous one. The superman one right yeah. That's that's probably the most famous one where it's It's an eight thirty. Superman is coming to school. The thirty one humiliation of him. Yeah google docs flame superman and it should come up and that kind of just if you're not familiar with with dax flame. It is worth kind of going through the journey of dax flame from from back then to now and You know he went on to be a couple of movies and twenty one twenty one jump street and project acts yes and I mean will. I think we'll we'll get into it on the podcast. There's an ice cream shop after that. Right yes no longer working with ice cream shop but there is. There's a good good. Doc that covers all of this. I dubs it a doc on on youtube that you can find. It's maybe worth worth watching and also listen to the maybe listened to the podcast that we did. He and i did two years ago. I think we're just or just listen. Just listen to this but yeah think part of the big mystery of him. Which is why am excited to do this. One is like people have debated for a while like what what exactly is decks. Flamed doing like is he. Is he doing some kind of character so he's been doing it for like how many years brandon. Is it like fourteen years at this point. Yeah for if he's doing a character of sorts he's been doing it for longer than anybody without breaking it and if not that is just him like if it's somewhere in between like where's the line you know and i think that seems to be why people really like him. Yes he's he's also. I mean you. Watch his new stuff. And i showed you smoothie madness. I did watch too. I said harry. It's like a it's hilarious. It's a smoothie show. it's a smoothie game. show where he's at least. I watched the first episode. He's the judge and it's just two people making smoothies and there's a good amount of rules and then he tastes slammed to see it's pretty low stakes. Very low stakes. I wouldn't say books kids. It's really really funny but not because there's jokes and you know it's like it's kind of funnier as it goes along where you're just like i was laughing on my. I can't believe he made a smoothie game show and it gets more involved as it goes on his his very gentle energy about him now versus the other the older dax. I will say a big difference between seven dax flame of videos and twenty twenty twenty onward. Dax videos is the early stuff is a little more. It's kind of a kind of a more stressful viewing experience. And i will say like badness in that he's like this is like a fifteen year old. Who's who's really going through it. Yeah these these videos like smooth man is very gentle watch. That's a gentle pleasant. It's a pleasant viewing experience. Yeah it's a man who got people to make him smoothies and game essentially it's a it's a it's like a sweet sweet show. It's like a sweet program. There's pretty wholesome. It's it's a wholesome. it's a wholesome viewing experience. Yeah but if you were to stumble across it with no context would be probably completely baffled as to what you. You're watching it. But i yeah i do. I do recommend smoothie madness as well for the for the listeners at home. But yeah i mean dax flame after this after our intro will be having him in stu It'll be my first episode with dax as as mentioned before you did a solo episode with him on the patriot. One one on one with dax. This is Twenty nineteen. I the first official post dax flame revival the data on so i would say yes. He's had he's he's had a comeback. Yeah it's come. It's been comeback season for dax flame and we're we're happy to have him back well. I'm very excited. I wanted to give that little brief explainer for those similar to myself. Who didn't grow up watching that era of youtube. I missed it but without further ado. Let's start the show. Brennan.

"We know that this is facts like everyone knows acknowledges it. It's not like something that was kind of hidden might not like well. She obviously wanted to move on and see other interests. Ironically that show. Becker kicked her off after four seasons so she left e. s. nine last season and she continued on a little bit at becker. I've never seen that show in the book. The fifty our mission by all gross. Which like a comprehensive history of all star trek came out a few years ago confirms that fair wanted to be less and less episodes and fair claims that the producers and studio were bowling her into saying yes like forcing her to say us to sign onto season seven and to really push her into that role and to do the entire season seven every episode which is a lot act in it even in my personal favorite documentary. What we leave behind fairly got super emotional and she explained that gad they were wouldn't here honor issues and rick berman and the studio were terrible and just very overwhelming and pushy and this led like back and forth once. That documentary came out and berman. Colleges called her out and said no. You know like we did not let her go. Nobody fired her She requested not to be in the episodes and the studios. Like you can't do that. Your main frigging character. You can't just be like to balance and you have to deal with that. And even berman said and i quote. It certainly was my was not my choice. It was the loss of character and it was difficult for the entire crew that she left and as we all know the famous. Ds named show runner. Era stephen bar and the writing staff apparently were kept out on purpose. They had no idea. This whole drama back and forth was going on with feral season seven contract and bur when he found out was suber livid he was pooh which obviously means a lot. Because you could have done so much more in season seven which will get into libya later talking about like the possibilities of what if she stayed on and so berry even said in and i quote let me put it this way. If i know what was going on i would have stopped it. That makes me feel really kind of sad. Because i would've loved to see. Gen z. a come back for season seven. If you don't already know like cats out of the bag the die was cast. Phero came out and they brought in a neutral with the same jackson. Beate who was played by nicole. They bower bauer french. I'm tara now. Take french expansion. High school but So we have this new decks in beit and she's the station counselor and kinda comes into around and it is really difficult because she was only on the show for one season but in my opinion she do great job and and she became integral part and i think the show better because of her and bringing those mental issues like paper moon etc. I think it was the best. They could make a bad situation however to mean in as prepping this episode. I was like do you know what's what could be the thing you know what could have happened. If jesse actually and terrified world decided to stay for season seven like what would season seven of look like and i think there's one of the best arc's you could have done was the raising of wars and jet zia sun and bringing like a bigger reflection integration into true society and maybe that conflict of his child gonna be going to the trill academy trying to be a A host or is it going to be a warrior and go into the halls of stove occur. You know like. I think could have been really good and really touch on some great themes of mixed households experiments. I think i think that would have been really great. And an opportunity missed. However i do think the overall plot finished cisco living in the wormhole and being with the being the prophets. I think it. I think they already had than ending. But you could have had some really great arks and character development for that last season that would've nailed it home even more so than they did with what was produced either way. I just wanted you to know. Because i always was curious when i when i go. Three d. s. nine. I was like what happened. Tariff oh all now you now. She wanted to get out do other things but the studios. I can live your life that way one foot in one foot but now you know the rest of the story okay again. Thank you so much for listening in tuning in across the fruited plane. That is the alpha quadrant I said we have exciting stuff coming up. Um next couple series are gonna be fun. We're gonna talk about some things that if you didn't watch the show enterprise you probably never heard about like the vulcan endure in issues in the civil war there. I think there will be a fun thing to do. And also we're going to return to our roots and do little bit of cannon book. Comic book reviews talking about Really excited to get back into that people in at once or twice. I think it'd be fun to return to that. Have a little bit of some issues and topics and characters. We don't necessarily get drawn out on the show. The books provide a beautiful way to do. So i'm excited about that and always remember. You can hit us up on instagram at mega particle podcast on twitter at omega park underscoring on facebook with the same name. Interview With Yusef Salaam and Ethan Herisse
"Now if you experienced at all there seems to be consensus around this like i want to say michelle. Obama even wrote about it in her book. What a black students who are in route to a medical degree get strongly encouraged by counselors and advisors to not do it. Have you heard of this phenomenon has happened to you. I have not heard this. And i also i haven't experienced it either. No one's discouraged me on that. I'm wondering if that's before they get to college. Possibly if students are like exploring the possibilities of what to go into when you said that the immediate thought that came to mind was what malcolm x. was discouraged to become as a child when they asked them. Hey what do you want to be and when you think about systemic racism oppression that stuff. A lot of it has nothing to do with physical fighting but has everything to do with what happens mentally to get you to accept whatever definition. They are trying to put upon you. What did he originally wanna be. I don't remember exactly. But i think it might have been a lawyer or something like that knowing it would have been a good lawyer. But it's one of those things where you say you. So damn you know when i went to college after i came home from prison bumped into master teachers. My most impactful teacher was a student of dr john. Henry clarke and i think dr john henry clogged is taught. You know the fact that he was professor maradas hunter college in. He had people under him who were not so talk ahead to go to school to get educated. They're getting their education in addition to what they had under him so with regards to master teachers. What i found was that in educational environments that are breeding ground for success. They have specific things right it. A student to teacher ratio is a balance that you find in a lot of private schools but in public schools. You don't find a lot of people fall through the cracks but with the master teachers. They didn't get the opportunity to look at the child and see the child's gifts that they're exhibiting
Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey Discuss Mental Health in New Series
"Harry and hot water After describing the first Amendment as bunkers, NBC's Roy O'Neill joins us live with a look at why he said it. The reaction he's getting Seems like the prince is having, you know a little bit of trouble. Kind of adjusting to new life here in the U. S. I think he's guys you've got it all figured out that we're smarter than the rest of us. You know, He's got a new TV series with Oprah that starts on Friday. And what are we talking about? Don't look at all this free publicity he's getting, but yeah, he was on a pap I've cast with the after Dax Shepard talking about mental health and his new TV series with Oprah is about mental health. And he was talking about how your paparazzi were attacking him and surrounding his house when he was staying in Tyler Perry's home with the family, and he, you know a lot of this meaner stuff that put online and shared his quick bait that then profits, these media companies. And that's what he said was bonkers about the First Amendment protecting all this.
How is Prince Harry So 'Normal'?
"It's so crazy to me that we're in this world. Where prince harry's like casually on dax shepard's podcasts. That would never have happened a few years ago and to me that is such a small thing but it's so representative of really there into la life. Into hollywood i don't wanna say into normalcy because none of this is normal but just even the ability to be able to go on a podcast. Which would have never happened interesting. That you say this shift into normalcy. Because that is the thing that always surprises me about prince harry especially with what we've seen of him recently. The interview with oprah the new show us with over coming out about mental. Health carpool karaoke. He did the normalcy of him. Is it just catches me off guard every single time and obviously his life whether it was a royal life or in. La life is not normal by any means. But there's just something about what he's saying and the way he speaks and the references he makes and the things. He's aware of in terms of media and entertainment. It just catches me off guard. Because i don't expect him to be aware of any of those things when you think of prince harry in the lifestyle that he's lived. And what your view of the royals are you. Expect that all of these funny references that he makes talking about joe rogan talking about when he was games courtney new the fresh prince of bel air themes on you expect these things to be things that are just go over his head entirely because he wouldn't be aware of them and so for him to be talking about these things in such a normal way was my biggest takeaway from the whole interview.
Sophie Turner REACTS to Taylor Swift's Song Seemingly About Joe Jonas
"So taylor swift's re recorded album fearless. Taylor's version comes out tomorrow. Contains over twenty tracks. There are a few previously unreleased tracks that she re recorded for the album as well one of those she released yesterday. It's called mr perfectly fine which everyone assumed is about joe. Jonas as they had broken up around the time this album was being produced. Joe began trending which is probably quite a surprise to him This little piece of mr perfectly fine always everything that is a classic taylor swift sound solve absolutely really well dug the yeah you. Yes that's because you can't hold on. Oh stop it is well. That's it is. I mean i'm not saying it's not good. It's poppy is good. But that's because she can't hold a note when you taylor swift dax the sound that i think absolutely hate us what you think it sounds like. You can't tell you the best part joe. Jonas is now married to sophie turner. Yeah sophie turner posted the song on her instagram story. And says it's not not a bob. So she then sophie turner played Science sansa stark. In game of thrones so taylor swift riposte that story and says i will forever been the need to the queen of the north so it was like the best interaction on social media. That's really cool. That's very cool.
Amy Poehler on Opting Out of the 'Beauty Race'
"I don't know that. I've ever had such a bonding feeling. Is listening to you on terry. Gross years ago. Promoting your book and you said you got to a point in high school where i looked in the mirror and i said look. This isn't going to be your thing. I'm not gonna run with these lose because unlike you. I'm like you kinda say i apologize in advance so excited to be doing this right now. I'm such a fan. I kind of feel like a one fan contest. I'm going to do a lot of this both of you. Which is i'm going to be like. I'm like you. But i like to do things. I'm good at so in the beauty race i bury thankfully an early on realize. I'm not gonna win here. I'm not going to get a lot of wins here and so it felt good. Just pretend like. I was self selecting out but also the beauty racist changed. When you're in high school it was one thing and now it's not so you are winning beauty race in many ways. Well i wonder if winning it is like not racing exactly. I think that might be the new way to win it. Yes but you know. Markets his constant boring. Disappointing thing that we just keeping like. I can't believe i'm still being so rough in my own. Mind about my face like this is going to be my face. When are we going to become friends. When is it going to happen. And the answer is no right before you. Die the minute before you
Interview With Robert Livingston
"How you doing. I'm doing good doctor livingston. Are you bummed. That if you google your name you're going to get one of the fathers of the constitution right or one of these early founding fathers taking all the real estate yes yeah this ranch of being named dax. There's just not a bunch out there right now your christian name it is. It is yeah. My mom and dad had read a book in the lead character's name was dax. And let's go for it where you from originally. So i was born in lexington kentucky and that's where i spent most of my time but i've lived in six states in four foreign countries. So do you have a favorite my favorite place to visit his turkey. Eastern bowl is my favorite city in the world really has the oslo balance of chaos and order if you will oh okay good. I need you to drill down on the order. Because when i look at it looks very bright. Very frenetic very exciting. And i'm a little bit like that's seems maybe too chaotic. There's a method to the madness because there are places. I've been that are chaotic. They're just chaos deal with it but turkey just seems chaotic like this. Is it comparable to any other form or european country or is it its own thing and that's why you love it. It's its own thing. But i would say it's most comparable to spain. I don't know if you've been disowned ensuring people go out to eat restaurants. Don't open before nine o'clock in the party starts at one. Am and it goes to eight in the morning and spain has a different rhythm. And i think that's the most similar country to turkey and its mediterranean so similarities in the cuisine fish a lot of oil you know and then a crazy history. One of the most historical places you could visit. And that's what i like about it too. So you just hit the number one criteria for whether i like cities or don't and that is rhythm so i'll be places and i'm like yeah it's beautiful. That's a big tall building. That's got all the accoutrements of a great city. But there's just no rhythm happening here and then conversely you go down to austin texas. They don't have a ton to look at. And i'm like oh i can feel the rhythm all around me exactly now. How did you end up at harvard. Like most things in life. It had something to do with my network. So i was in england at the time because i had accepted a position because again our wanderers case. You can't tell i. Don't mind packing up and going to some exotic place. And i got an offer to take over as head of organizational behavior department at the university of sussex and i had my own center and when i was there at the center i discovered my real passion. I like to say. I transitioned from being a gardener to being a florist. When i was just a straight researcher i had my hands in the dirt. Cultivating blooms if you will. And then. when. I was head of the centre. I interacted with metropolitan police. The nhl the national healthcare service all these organizations to sort of give away my flowers if you will and so. I got into the florist business. Like how do you arrange these flowers into the perfect bouquet to give it to people at weddings. Because what's the point staying in a greenhouse if no one ever sees the beauty of your flowers and so you know when i was in england i discovered the passion of sort of giving away the science and then harvard. You know i was giving a talk. And they said well. You know we're holding company of entrepreneurs will let you come here and do whatever you wanna do if you don't want publish anymore will let you be a practitioner. But an academic at the same time and i was like really because most places aren't set up you know. Harvard makes its own rules. So i sort of took on this position to be an academic practitioner which led to this book that we're going to talk about which is sort of trying to distill. The science synthesize it assembly like a bouquet into something that people can digest and use to make profound sustainable change around racism. So that's like my purpose in life. Now where did you get your doctor. Degree because lexington kentucky and then ending up england emceeing already. You're privy to to dramatically different racial structures. And i wonder where you went to college if you maybe even a third and that somehow helps you on your journey just to have witnessed all this stuff firsthand. I went from coast to coast to coast and into the mid west. So basically i started my undergrad tulane university in. I did a study abroad in spain. Which is how. I came to know. Spain fell in love with spain. And i majored in spanish. That was one of my things. And then i went to. Ucla started at the gulf of mexico. Coast number one went to california. Ucla that was number two. And i was getting a phd in romance language and linguistics. So something completely unrelated. But i was looking at themes of oppression in latin american literature and colonialism. So i always been interested in that. In undergrad i did the thesis on a comparative study of racism in brazil and the united states but long story short i was hiking in joshua tree. And there was a psychology student. Who said you know you're doing really cool research. Did you know you could do this in the real world. And i was like no. There's a field where you can actually study racism and discrimination. She's like yeah you know. Why don't you come in audit a class. And that was the beginning of the end. So i left that program. I got a master's. I was a heroin from impeach d. But decided to start all over again in social psychology. So i started at yale. Struggled from coast to coast to coast and my professor at ucla said. Don't go to yale because i got into princeton yale. He said go to ohio state. That's like the best program in the country in what you're doing and as a phd student or go to programs not schools. And i didn't think. I could live in columbus ohio so i went to yale and then i was like you know what i can't live in new haven connecticut so the professor at ohio state would you guys take me and fortunately i had my own funding because i wanted. Nsf fellowship. so. I was able to export that i went to ohio state and worked with one of the top people in the field maryland brewer. Who's like the godmother of social identity.

Rinat Catching a Duck in Bolivia, Driving in Israel, and Encountering a Bear
"I'm neat and i'm taraji. And today's driver is were not the co host of the ticket. Podcast and she is originally from and she's lived three years in the us before moving to canada where she's been for two years and she shares with us the differences she has seen driving in israel versus driving in north america. Welcome or not. Thanks so much for joining us today. Thank you and buffoni for inviting me. We liked starting off with this question because we like to go straight into the crazy before we dive into what type of driver you are. So what would you say is one of your craziest driving stories. Oh so i have a story. Or i wasn't a driver by i was riding on form by four in the lower. The uni in bolivia we were may be for france and we. We had a driver and cook and it's riser was driving in the seller. Salardu unit is Salt desert so it's a big surface off desert which is just made of salt and the driver was adjust. He navigated with no roads on or anything and one time we so tax on the road and the driver was approaching them very very slowly. Be an added. The back without Is so considerate. He doesn't want to frighten the dax but then when he got close to them you started to drive really fast and any coat one dark and he give the cook the dock and he said she's gonna make that for dinner and it was. I'm not sure it's funny. Maybe it's kinda freer carry kind of funny and but it was definitely experience that the i remember well. Do you stop the car with you in it to get the duck. Yes i stopped the car. He pulls the dock caught him on his neck. And just give it to the cook. I think because his wife and it was kind of Multiple day. I don't remember three or four days trip. And we had we had meals during the that's rape and the wife just cooked food for us and no one from my group a dinner that night at least knock back. That's that's hilarious. I mean what a surprising. Turn of events like oh. He's so nice. Oh no he's going to eat it. Yeah yeah it was really surprising. How is it driving on a desert compared to like just driving on the road we were wondering how did he navigate. Because it's really. It has a lot of mean i mean. It's very big dessert. Like think about that. We drove their into desert for a few days. So i'm not sure how big it is but it's really big so we were wondering how he navigated and how he couldn't find all the things that we saw the way because there were like lakes in different colors like amoroso lake and red lake and they were keno obnoxious that he showed us em and there were. There was a village in that word. The places that we slept in slept now like assault motel so we were wondering. How did he manage to find. All the stinks. Because if if you look all around you you just see white surface so you don't really see any reference point to help you navigate and there were no roads on their on the desert. Yeah that's what. I was wondering like everything's way. How do you know where you're going. I would end up like back at your starting point. It's like oh how they get here. Yeah it's a good good question. Yeah we wouldn't be able to do it by ourselves. Or i feel like i would get lost in the be stuck in the middle of nowhere and be like. Oh now so. I know like a lot of other countries outside the. Us tend to have. I feel like. I've heard that they tend to have more crazier drivers in bolivia. Did they. like. I guess abide by driving traffic laws or did they kind of just speed and do whatever they wanted to do. So in the salt desert most of the times. We didn't see anyone around now. The other places of been to in bolivia are easier a small towns or a big city. And i guess s most places have been to that. The drivers in the big city are more careless. I think more maura beeping and thanks dad. You have mentioned that you have lived in three different countries. What one

What next-gen consoles really mean for audio
"Up on it moving on from there. Let's discuss three d audio for second is covered this. I'll probably do a video but dax on the ps five and on the xbox they do work it's crazy. They worked very well. They're very loud dax or again digital analog converters they take a digital signal from your usb that's pipe from the console into this chip and the chip then translates it into something you can plug your headphones into some better. Some are worse. The nice thing about bow systems is they work overall. They seem to pump out the right amount of volume which was an issue with the past consoles in particularly the ps four. I was also question. Does three d audio play through those as well as the tempest. Three d audio engine. Play through your deck and give you those upgrades it absolutely does. Let's talk about three d audio just for a second three d audio slightly weird on both systems on the xbox they do have a hardware chip for three d audio. It's very very impressive chip. But they didn't name and didn't bring it forth as something to really discuss where sony called. There's the tempest in gems and it is very powerful additionally you also have software kinds of systems. Dt s. you've got at most different support for those as well and what these do what they're supposed to do is not only help you with your normal stereo separation and you're channeling but with atmos in particular and others that are full three d. It's supposed to make you feel like the audio is coming from very different points in the game world and not just discreet left indiscreet right or somewhat muddy left in somewhat muddy. Right now the past systems did have some support. Like i said for. Disd ex As well as at most on the xbox on the ps five. You can't get this through. Hdmi be aware that the only way to get the three d audio effect that they're going for is through. The headset plugged into the controller. Or a deck. Why bring it. We'll because it's not the greatest right now spiderman has some okay three audio but the best one is probably call of duty when i was playing call of duty with the three audio both on the xbox and on the ps five which i gotta admit were about identical in their quality. I didn't really actually feel like the. Ps five was much better. In fact. I've talked to multiple people who play both and i don't think anybody does the for example in the second part of the first level. There's a helicopter that flies over your head. And if you have all the three d audio setting set on if you have a nice stereo system or headphones for the xbox or if you have your headphones or adapt for the ps five. It really does sound like that helicopters above your head. There's some really nice of the three and some effects which i'll start covering more reviews but as it stands right now. The big question is is the three d audio a feature that you're missing or a feature that they missed and i would personally say at this time. It is a feature that they have missed. We have not seen a jump in the three d audio really paying off yet. I'm sure we absolutely will. As these companies come more to grips with what's going on and everybody sort of gets out of that emergency panic mode which we see right now. Where a lot of these companies are just trying to get their games out there so that people can play them. I'm a big fan of three the audio. I think it's great. I have the three d. pulse from sony. Which by the way. A lot of people were assuming. That was a special headset. You need for the sony playstation five. You don't you do not need that headset. that's a normal headset. there's not anything like magically special. That's a branded sony headset. That they've made some adjustments to nevertheless a normal headset will work as long as it's not super high power requirements is long as you plug it into the controller or the dak. You will get those. And i think you should try it. You should definitely play with those and adjust them with the xbox again h just works looking at and sort of stepping away and looking at three d audio. there's an excellent gamasutra and g. d. c. video on on youtube game developer conference where you can read about gears of war and the three d audio there. If you want to really hear how three d audio is done well in a game go check that video out. It is a longer video. It's like forty to fifty minutes. But they cover everything from clues in sound reverberates bouncing different layers discreet abilities for particular surfaces to eat up sound phenomenal job in that video. You should definitely check it out gears of war.
There's no way to move PS5 games off the SSD
"See what we discuss first. Let's just go down the list for ps five. So i do want to say if you are somebody who is easily offended please. Just don't stick around. Because i that's not how i work and i get it that we have people that come into the channel for these guys and who maybe are accustomed to the way i talk which is like a lot of jockstrap humor and shit. But i'm not going to sit here and lie to you about any system or at least what i consider lies just going to tell you exactly what i think of them. And what. I what i like dislike and that doesn't mean you will feel the same way. It's just exactly what i think about these things. So just wanna prepare people. Because i said this in the video my thoughts are very divergent. Compared to a lot of other people and i'm not saying they're wrong and i'm not saying i'm right but i'm almost saying that and i do. I wanna talk about this and see if you guys believe a couple of things that were seen is just what we've seen in the past in reflection of hyperbole or if i'm wrong so we'll begin first thing i'm gonna talk about you. Get this system. Ps five we're going to talk about for secret ps five. I'm going to do a video on this if you don't wanna be spoiled about the ps five. Looks like which would be weird. You can wait for the video but we're going to talk about this. I get this thing home. And first of all i just have to say man. I don't care what anybody says. It's fucking ugly the. Ps five is horrendous. It's like a kid who worth fire. Bridgeton could ruin at a router company and then watch lord of the rings like ten times in a. That's just the way it is. Do i care no. I don't care at all. it's it's funny. We can tease it. But i played the dreamcast played. The game cube game cube was a fucking cube. Like that's all it was. It's not these things for an artistic representation. I don't want it to look like a flower bouquet. So i got this thing at home and i opened up massive. It's ugly as fuck. It's got these huge gulf wing kind of things off the top. And i gotta tell you. It doesn't look good no matter where i put it in my house anywhere i. It was bad enough that my wife was looking at it and just being like damn son that is fucking ugly and my wife is. She married me like she's used. She's accustomed right. You're talking to somebody who wakes up in the morning. Fuck and goes into. My boxer takes his pissed. She's had to see that she's had to see ugly. She seen in probably lived through the sins of man just by knowing for a year and even she looks at this fucking thing. And it's like god damn. Can you hide it so i have hit it. That is not a ding on the. Ps five. i don't care. Because i don't think the. Ps four or the ps three. George foreman grill edition. Looked fucking awesome right and the xbox original with its sort of boxing look wasn't necessarily You know awesome so you get this thing home you look at it. You got usb on the front. You have the on the back usb on the fronts usb see as well as which is nice to have a ac- that's where you plug in your dax which by the way people were wondering if digital audio or digital analog converters work. I've plugged in a couple and the have worked on the. Ps five guess on the ps four Was a little little heggie so those worked so you get this thing home you plug it in transferring your old. Ps four stuff to your. Ps is definitely a little bit more cumbersome than the xbox so i don't know why but they have a lot of and this is something you'll see in the overall they have a lot of nested and bouncing menus where you're like over here then you're all the way over here that kind of stuff but got it set up and i moved my stuff over. And it's like you can take your ps four hard-drive plug it into your ps five. And i'm like that's awesome. I plug it in. My aren't showing games are showing saves. Aren't showing. I realize the only way to transfer it the way i want to is to plug it back into the. Ps four sign into that use gamertag. Then plug it into the ps five then. Transfer the stuff that. Ps five then go back to the ps four then plug it in then reload the other gamertag so some some of mine which have nda's on him some of my Games i have to play on a particular gamertag. That's like you know. Just jargon right it's like not me. It's not when i share with these guys because you'll be playing an nba game. That was a little rough. I got it figured out but it was just a little bit weird and just a word of warning man. Don't throw your. Ps four hard drive on your ps five and like reformatted or something because you might reformat another profile that's got some saves on there that you might wanna try transfer over but you get it up and running you look at this and i gotta say man. We've seen this you i. We've seen the videos. It's just a you. I don't care again it's just you i but it's not it's not great it is also missing some things like themes and stuff which i thought was weird because that was a big thing for sony. Those are missing currently But it's it's overall about the same really. I mean like you go up and then it's the same thing you see on the ps four. Your tiles right. The only thing is is they've now got two lines of like they've basically got two lines of tiles. You've got your top tiles and then when you open up game you've got your bottom tiles which includes a thing called a switcher which somebody else's mentioned so i don't want to talk about because i don't there's some stuff we can't cover right now but it allows for you to switch between games not quick resume by the way there's no such thing jumping in there playing it using that. Ui stuff you've seen. It's pretty much what it is if you like that kind of stuff that's great if you don't you're not gonna be able to get away from it but i just don't see a lot of people i don't know about you guys. I don't spend a lot of people in the. Us like a lot of time in the us. It's not something that i'm gonna. I'm gonna fred over so getting this all set up and going i another thing. It's cool to the touch like it's it's pretty much like the ps or like the xbox series. I saw some people say in both were overheating or both were hot and i saw some video. Ps five possibly on a shelf store shelf somewhere where maybe they had sort of contained it on purpose to see what would happen and basically says ups was hot. Turn you know like at adequate ventilation

I'm just so happy and those like well lived, but the other day, I did live my friends at never going to be with their families ever again, it'd be selfish if I gave up maybe a slap in their face and their service and their families sacrifice that they made all of them for them, not making it back home their kids without fathers or mothers. I don't know him mothers died, but I know there are one out there. So I'm not going to downplay. I'm just saying for me, personally, my close friends, you know, then everybody back home. I just feel like how fortunate would they have been if they would've made me if they would be there with their dog. I think my daughter day, Dr dances, right? My daughter goes to gymnastics, I took her last night my son. Now, we're starting to get pretty good bond. He's a real mama's. Boy, it's ridiculous. He will be for next. Maybe what year? So why keep telling my wife? I'm like, you know, Kelsey you'd better enjoy this because when you can get in that truck like khloe like my daughter loves to go with me, I put her in the truck I used to you know, Buckler into her car seat and we'd go anywhere. Everybody just knew if I was showing up close come with me Dawson. What happens type deal? So for me. I would just like this sucks. I still have meant that look up to me. And believe me matter of fact, I woke up in hospital, and when I woke up, I didn't want call my parents, I know call my wife, I didn't want to have those conversations because I was really embarrassed. But I wasn't as gifted as Koby because that's who really makes us the person who has the crazy workout insane natural genetics. So I maxed maximize potential played D one. You know, scored their d to lead in scoring first team. But like that still wasn't like at the level of an NBA play. Just a Beasley get drafted who do who do you identify your fan like your real fan base? Like, the people who have just gravitated towards your music that you built up this crazy fan base on YouTube in particular, the people who fuck with Dax and Daniel. Are the people who like no they want more with their life. They don't necessarily know what that more is. But they know they want it. And I'm like the guy. That's like yo I started. I was overnight January than I bound this. I made a decision that I'm going to be one of the biggest hip hop artists in the world, and I'm just working towards that blindly with these fucking blinders on, so that's my fan that people who want more do you ever feel like you don't fit in as a -sarily hundred percent with rappers because rap is supposed to be sort of like nihilistic, or like, you know, the spreading a positive message through RAB. Sometimes makes you sort of stand out and be different than your peers. When you say, I mean, I I don't think I say people don't know a dog like, you know, I mean, I'm a nice guy. I'm a motivational guy. But I'm still human. I'm still I still do everything that do do. But it's just like, I just know. They're like, I love change. I love money. Love cars. I love all that stuff. I don't get the money to get all of the ones I want. But I know I do have the money. We'll get them. But I won't let that cloud my brain process. So I still like all the shit normal dues do besides drugs. But it just like and mostly I just haven't met most these dues personally. But once like a doodle meet me, they always end up saying fuck with any year. But like, you know, they might see something online which is on lines a bitch mine's a bit. If you feel like you get eight not much. It's all positively really go to my comments lot like All People's congress a lot of positive house duty. Yeah. No, definitely that was just talking to the backpack kid, and he was telling me how it just feels like he gets all negatively now. Mike Rowe's because you too big now like, you know, when he had like one hundred fifty K, or whatever I bet it was all because that's kind of like before like the problem kicks in once. Everybody knows about you, including people who don't give a fuck about you. You're gonna good situation because most of the people who know about you are people fuck with you. I don't know his his real name. But I focus them we always each Russell. He was one of the first p posted the Hillary Clinton song really back back back. Then like, that's why every time something like bromance focused you Bill. You really helped me with that the replied thirteen fourteen at the time posted dancing to it shit help them how do you feel about black Santa as me? But that's also shout the Baron Davis who created that whole brand. So I played in the black sand celebrity all star game. And that's what was that's what sparked that idea. Really? Yeah. There's an all star game based around black in black Sam baron. Davis. Created this dope pass movement with black sand and everything shout to him for that. Hope he sees. And then. Yeah, that's sparked that idea that's about us. Even more the t shirt in the music video. That was funny. I sent you dressed up as Santa was vodka bottles..

"I don't I don't put myself in his category put myself in really anyone's. I just feel like, you know, Dax I tell people all the time. It's just like you gotta really go. Listen to Dax now if you listen to a song like she cheated again, or you listen to a song like all night long or no capital. You're not gonna pigeonholed it. The Dax newer in YouTube rapper whatever you wanna call it. I just feel like it's always just a matter of time. I tell people all the time. It's like you. I used to watch Drake on the grassy. Jimmy. I remember when Jimmy was running like this. You see them has right left right before the scene where he gets shot shot and I knew him as Jimmy right? And now, I'm just like damn has Drake. Yeah. So I always tell people who are trying to do the music thing is like you can like try to do it. You know, the conventional way and maybe wish on a prayer. It's going to work or you can go and get it out the fuck and mud and make it happen. And just you know, have that that Drake mentality from Jimmy to Drake Montana. Demolish the world has no shortage of people who are salty because they think that they have a lot of musical talent. But you know, people who have good better gimmicks are getting the attention like everybody's mad as fuck about that. But they don't get is that promoting yourself is a big part of the skill set is not just about the music. We all know people who are going to make music who have absolutely nothing going for him. It's you know, you have to not promote yourself, especially these days like back in the day. I would have been an issue of promoting yourself through fug in, you know, the source and double XL MTV and having those relationships now, you have a direct relationship with your fans. And exactly and you've got you've got to take it, man. You gotta you gotta do what's right for you. There is no right way to become what you want to become you gotta you gotta you gotta see an opportunity grab it. That's why I say it's a boy d-actually back in like a bath. You want something go grab a seat opportunity, grabbing once you grab it us an opportunity to jump to the next one boom cracks do you have any kind of exile the about like being able to put songs out? They'll do well that don't have anything to do with current events or any kind of like marketing, or is that always like a part of it in your mind is like, okay, I'm gonna have I'm going to have this as a way to get people to appreciate the song more. Well for me. It's like, I only make music based upon my life like people always. Oh, man. We run by yourself is because that's all I know is myself. So it's like everything I do is story based depending on what's going on in my life. So it will never be like you'll be like oh he's advertising on. I'm just I'm just living where I'm living. And that's what's coming next. Right. You know what I mean? So I never fear at the end of the I know if I signed to a major label and had all that shit that that most, you know, some of these huge artists have I'd be what at that point. I know that's coming. Eventually, we've been having those conversations definitely with the labels. Definitely feel about him. I feel great. I feel blessed in early favorite. I feel blessed to think that you're going to be capable of like continuing to execute your vision even with a label like potentially getting in there. Getting in the way, I'm very, yeah. I feel very good about. Future perspectives of know label involving themselves in the I feel really good. You sound like you're already signed. Not definitely not no definitely not resigned. Daniel Dax entertain everybody who's not saw or who is signed says that they're not Zayn for the record. So there's no real sign. I was telling I'm not saying would you really I'm not saying you can make yourself and industry planet these days. I just decided not to talk about it. When you get signed. I'm not I'm not saying, okay. I believe you now..

Put. Yeah. Put that on there too. Yeah. Let's get us throw second one. And I hang up in front of my all my God or any pizza? I want. I have a fridge in my garage. It has a million drinks in it that makes me feel like a billionaire. There was Dax Shepard you were just listening to he was talking to me, Dr Phil in you're listening to fill in the blanks. Look at today. Accident the second. But if you're listening for the first time, let me tell you about fill in the blanks. This is a podcast that's totally different than the Dr Phil show in that. I'm not solving problems. This is me talking to interesting people. I think you're gonna find him interesting. It's going to include ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. And sometimes I'm going to be my own guess to tell you very specific things that you might be interested in knowing. I'm going to interview some couples as well, not just individuals. This is not Dr Phil rerun as a podcast, we tell you. Dax Shepard is a good example. Because this guy is really interesting. He's he's married to Kristen bell, which you may. Or may not know. I mean, great interesting couple both comedic actors both very successful. And I'm here with Laverne cusak. Who is my producer for this? What did you think? Adak? He sells mar n I really enjoyed listening to how you guys connected, you both gear heads you both crashed motorcycles, and you both had alcoholic fathers. I think I both surprised listen, this is a guy that has paid his dues. He started out with the groundlings theatre here in L A, which is the improv where you really get in front of an audience and kinda get your chops. He did punked with Ashton Kutcher. And he's the kind of guy that can pull it off. He did six seasons on NBC smash hit parenthood, everything he. Touches turns to go. His most recent movie was chips you remember this the series chips. The movie is not the series chips. This was very edgy. He's been in the judge when in Rome baby, mama. He's a writer. He's a director. He's a voice over artist. And by the way, he has one of the biggest podcast in all podcast called the armchair expert and this year coming up in just a few weeks. They're launching a new ABC sitcom called bless this mess. I've seen the promos for it. And it's really funny. I don't think he knows how to not be funny. So I had a great time talking to him. So anyway, enough talk about let's talk to him. But I'm gonna do that less than sixty seconds. You probably wouldn't think I do dishes. But I actually do I.

And let's ask Dr Dax Dr Dax how do I tell my husband that his favorite position is not as my least favorite? Okay. Lau. Wow. And you mean like got an airplane like he likes the window seat? And you liked the windows eight. Route. Wait, how long have we been married? Five years. Longtime longtime to not be in your favorite position. Yeah. I'm gonna make some really general broad statements about the sexes and gender. And it's probably give me in hot water. But I'll just say this. I have a hard time believing that your husband has a hard time getting to the finish line. Now. He he's a man he could probably get to the finish line jobs easy. You know, I think we should prioritize you getting in the finish line. So here's my solution is let's start things off in his position. I don't know what that is. Is it in the bedroom? The kitchen. The Wally outbreaks, heavy machinery. Maybe it's just it's maybe he likes to be outdoors more thinking of things that are so basic, but you're trying to get her to say what it is. And she's not going to. I hope. So I would suggest I would say Hon. You know, what let's let's start things off you go crazy. It's your turn midway through. Let's swap. What's switch it up? And I'd like to do what feels best for me because we need to get me over that fix line. Yeah. In both be looking win. Never said to him. That's not my favorite. Or can. We change it up. You've never said that to him. I say, let's change it up. But you don't say I don't like that position. Yeah. I do. With you. Because I love you. I think I think we can keep the whole thing positive. I don't think you have to say I hate that position. I think you could just say, you know, sweetie. I have a position that I preferred it makes it much more pleasurable for me. And so if you went mine of midway through things, I'm going to go off your cues, you know, when you're halfway there. Let's. One eighty. We have a question from Kristen bell stand up. Yes. Yeah. Hi..

What I mean, the viewers know I went to Super Bowl with him. And so they hear you say your friends, but they know that we're friends anyway, that's sweet because I'm friends with Kristen. Okay. So you guys you guys are TV friends, and yeah, we're real friends. Yeah. We've done worked together. Let's we've been on the screen together on the screen. Yeah. Here we celebrated his birthday here came here on his birthday. We always like to give people gifts here. And we give him we want to specifically to give him a birthday gift, and he has a particular man crush. Yes. That a lot of people have which is pit Brad Pitt. And he's known he sort of known Dax is sort of known for wearing overalls. And so maybe we combine the two things and gave them a gift. This really is your birthday is it is it horrible to have a birthday so close to Christmas and New Year's argue, it's the worst birthday in the world. A couple of reasons one. It's traditionally when you go back to school as a kid, right? So it was like happy birthday go to school. Right. And then when you get there, you know, there was a big break. So then when they read the like happy birthday is over the loudspeaker, you're among like thirty people who had birthdays nothing special now as an adult when I try to have a birthday party. Everyone has just quit eating carbs. They've they're not drinking all this goes out the window in a week. Right. Birthday is in the first week. Right. I can't get more than six people to attend my birthday, and I'm on television. Yeah. You pop they know Kristen will be there. Right. Still can't get to. Yes. That's a plus d you say, Kristen we'll be there. Always I lead with that. Yeah. Say Chris will be attending the birthday of that ship. Like when I went to your birthday party. Yeah. Ten fifteen thousand people there. Right. Yeah. It's a great day right later in January twenty sixth. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Why did I think it was a summer affair? All right. We're going to take a break. But I got you a birthday gift. Two things you love you still love Brad, Pitt right? It's Brad Pitt. Oh. Good in every form. Oh my goodness. Wow. He gives amazing relationship advice. Yes. While looking like, you just rolled out from under a Camaro that he was working on Bobby did. Yeah. He's very grunge and cool. Yeah. You really he really does. He looks like he just stepped off a set of the ranch, and he comes in here. And he's a really really smart guy. And he's also really funny. And of course, his lovely wife. Kristen bell. Oh god. I love her knee snuck into the audience and she surprises closest friends. Now. She's now, you're close. She actually I went to Super Bowl with her. Agree to do moms winning. If you were not involved with it. You know, what you don't have to give all the Bahamas. The it's actually in the contract. Yes. Wow. Stay away from her who's going. To fact, check this podcast. That's down. We're. I'm still mad at Donald Trump over the game games preemption, but we'll get to. We'll get to that got him. I loved expert and I love Kristen bell. "Of giving like giving in a pure way. Feel awesome. Right, right. And I've been to the opiate thirty times. Like, I I've been in hundreds of villages that have gotten. I I'm there. Sometimes when I was there with Kristen when clean water shooting out of the ground thousand people holding their, you know, women holding their children are clapping and screaming because a guy like you wrote a check. Like, it's it's like that. That's actually real to me. It's unbelievable. When you open yourself up to that. You actually, the problem is is it's so it's so scary. Because if you knowledge the problem can feel daunting it can feel overwhelming. It's like it's almost easier to just keep a wall around the whole thing. But what about the what about another way to look at that? While he's tell me what if you or the, you know, I mean sounds like Chris and already has this reputation. But what if you were the guy that started at a three and people doing good workout there in foster care with the homeless healthcare HIV? Do you pick the issue? Right. Trafficking day. No that anybody the gets in front of Dax. He's just gonna write them a check like he's that guy. We can't we can't let people know that you don't want know, the wouldn't it be cool to be known as the person that that you're just you're encouraging. Everyone you meet and maybe it's a five hundred dollar check. Maybe it's a dollar. Check your to saying. Hey. Go and do this good work in in this thing that I maybe I don't uniquely care about it. Right. Maybe clean water is not specifically your issue. Right. But that's encouraging. Thank you so much. Thank you for the check. That's thirty people with water. That's real. Oh, what if you were the guy that just like the more? I believe the more you give the more you give the more you give the more you give. I believe that. Yeah. Because also, I mean, if you're someone like me, I have my my core group of fears. There's like four of them that that govern almost all my behavior, all my good behavior and all my terrible behavior, and one of those is fear of financial, insecurity. So it doesn't matter how much money you give me. I have the fear that I will be penniless. So to give it away is scary. But to your point as I've been with Kristen and she forces me to give money away. I find that. It's not going down, ironically. Or counter intuitively. It's going up the seemingly the more. We give away which is very bonkers. But requires a leap buffet. I love that. I believe that's true. Let me let me just to offer. You've heard the word giving back giving back that's in the lexicon of society. I hate the language. I think it's everything that's wrong with giving and the way we approach it. It is it is language that is steeped in debt and shape because you have to. Yes. Giving back as if you Dax Shepard have pillaged and plundered to such extent. You should finally throw some scraps back. Totally agree. Like, oh people. So there's no joy in that. You'll never that will never bring a smile but giving because it's because you can because you could write a thousand dollar check and help them thirty people because it's an opportunity, and it's a blessing and you've been blessed with favor nuclear with health with talent through girls to beautiful girls, a beautiful wife like you're giving because you can and you can improve other peoples lives here at home now with this check, you know, across it..

"This really exciting age of new technology to prove where your hundred dollars went. Okay. So I met the founder of Google earth in the minute. I started and I realized guru in Google maps. They were giving us a free place where we could prove every water point vias. Satellite image to the cynical DAX's the world. So everyone of Kristen's birthday wells. She was thirty. This is what six years ago eight years ago, yet she's oldest there you can see satellite images of every single one K you could have for the last eight years. So you cynical guy could go to best buy grab a GPS device. Turn up in Ethiopia and go visit ten of them. Is there a picture of her on the wells from the movie burlesque? There's not okay, you'll be you'll be disappointed. The second is is this proof pillar. So if I could tell Dax show him, so not tell show you that thing that we built let's say it's a well, let's say it's a spring. Let's say it's a rainwater harvesting system where one hundred percent of your money went you might say, oh, actually, the maybe a little less cynical. The third big idea was to build a completely different brand. So I I just wanna use an example of the if imagine if Nike used guilt and shame to get. Able to work out J imagine. If Nike said America, you are fat and lazy. Yeah. Why don't you turn off the TV when you put that junk food away and go run? Yeah. You piece of shit and where our clothes and our shoes. The I kinda would probably go buy I go there. Never wear that. You'd never wear. No, you're right. You're right. You're right. You would never. So that's not what they do. They tell stories of how the tillman's they tell stories of overcoming adversity against the odds, Nike one leg run in the New York City. Exactly. You don't have an arm. You can win the shop competition. Like Nike believes there's greatness within. You you have a higher capacity for greatness, chievements, Sean. And then you're like, maybe I'll turn the TV off. Maybe I'll train run half a mile. Yeah. Maybe I'll run a mile, and I wanna wear the symbol of someone. That believes that about me the believes there's greatness, so all of the great brands don't market like charities Rapple think different campaign. Give example after example. So the. The third pillar was I was going to be away writing in a very different way. I was going to make it was a party. You don't leave a lot of room for my jokes guy? I know you're you're you're you're you're freight train has left the station, and it's a really well. Run for freight train the your way right away. I got I gotta get it in there. Okay. Go ahead. Oh my gosh. I fucked you upset. No brands, no brands, we're going to just make it fun. I I actually looked at this. I'm worth throwing parties. We're throwing parties where people get clean water in these villages and charity water's I l. And then the probably the most important thing was we wouldn't said the white people who look like me over Africa, actually, drill the wells..

Oh, I yeah. Only know bailed out pretty quickly of that whole thing yet. You did when you kind of have asked it at the same time. But. It was so interesting. I think maybe because we act at work. I mean, I found like because like you I've I've been kind of working in towards being a director kind of where I've been not focusing mostly energy. But a fair bit of I did a couple of music videos. Got a feature coming up you wanted to direct even when you were twelve when I met you. Yeah. Yeah. I remember when we were shooting this great films of thorough. Actually spoiler alert played the odor me. It's the only time which was pretty crazy. Maybe you played his dad because of what you said at the beginning. I'm sorry. But because his son. Yeah. Yep. Well, let's just be clear under blurred at the time. I was twenty nine and you were twelve. Yes. So yeah. I get ahead. Seventeen years. You probably did you're from Michigan Kentucky, that's not bad. They would spend about an hour with me working on it. And then they would all want to do something more fun, and I would get angry believe in my creative possibilities. So then you were wandering around set quite often with the video camera. Yeah, we'll Fabbro Jon Favreau gate. He said like, hey, go into behind the scenes for me. You'll be my bureau guy.
