"What did he do. Well in this game I thought he played well with his feet. Moving the ball out to the other sides. I thought he made a couple of good stops in the first half and he. You know that there wasn't a lot of chances for him to make an opportunity to make us save or be in the right position the second half because as soon as as soon as the floodgates what happened was to me is we got outcoached. I mean he put in three fast guys control the middle of the field and stuff the ball right down the throat. Because he said these these centrebacks are not gonna stop us and we're just going to roll right down the center. They didn't even bother to go to the wing because they were just going down the center and the first half they tried to get on the wing and they just went right down the center. And you know it wasn't like our centrebacks can keep up with that speed. That pace was just killing us and they just as soon as they got. The ball pushed it right down the throat. I think the problem with the shaver without a position. You know that's what. I would say not aggressive enough on the beginning goal. Not not not not aggressive. Enough stapled to his line on the buchanan. Go on on the way to the left hand side. And then i would say that i would you know i i don't know about. I don't know if it's positioning. The thing that bill does is he makes he makes reflect. Saves it probably shouldn't make right. That's what that's what that's what wins us points. And that's why he's still valuable the ball. But i don't remember the feeling of man that should be say that should be a saved ball I'm sorry i i i was a goalkeeper to in high school. I wasn't a good goalkeeper. I completely disagree I completely disagree. I thought i thought. I didn't think kevin cost us this game. But he did not. He was not good enough. And you need your goalkeeper to step up and make a play and he he did not You could even argue. This goes back to even the columbus win when the first goal that sort of brought columbus back into this game was off his mistake So this has been this has been this has been a worrying trend from him And.

A lot of fans would disagree with it. But i mean i do i do give i do give lozada credit I think he went into this game. Thinking we're probably not gonna win But i want to set us up for. "So you know they're gonna either they're going to rotate or they're gonna be tired so i think they're they're in more of a desperation but they need all the points they can get there. They don't have really where they can kind of pick and choose. They're trying to to claw their way back into the Back into the eastern conference but still an important game on saturday. This this is gonna look. I i will. I will be worried if they lose on saturday. Then then you're gonna start to see me. Act a little worried about this team right now. There's no panic. There's no worry. Right now yeah. New england obviously came into this game with three points in first place. They leave with forty six points in the first place Their team even when they don't start all your starters. The second half Was was just a different team for the first twenty five thirty minutes walk through that. So the the the the the first element of the game. It's exciting is a decent eddie goal on early lead that no one expected in tenth minute. "So certainly. I think there were moments. Where the dash were you know. somewhat somewhat resurgent but the the data had spirit had fifty eight and a half percent of possession in the first avenue. Eighty five percent passing accuracy. So pretty good game. The dash the dash came out as probably took control the second half. Unfortunately the dash toward wooster Scores a another another another goal. That was probably. I don't think goal of the week but certainly a very well-struck opportunity for for torch user. It is nice when when the defense just kind of it pulls off and sort of lets you waltz into the box. I think i think the I think the dash were expecting a pass. Should we talk about the the game. We'll talk about the game. Yeah and then we'll get we'll get deep into the all the things along prior to that this last week. Yes as the washington spirit traveled to the traveled to houston take on the houston dash which they have been. I believe perfect against. I don't let they've lost game to them and that continued though. Not the way not the way we would expect The big news. Of course not coming up on the bench was that trendy rodman Did not start. The game started on the bench. Probably the spirits. Most exciting player Ashley sanchez was out there A game that certain well. It started very very well For the for the washington spirit Opened up with a excellent excellent excellent goal for goldensohn go the week just a rocket into the corner her first goal of her career professional career and think we i don't know she had an eagle. She i went to the daily for a bit. So she said she Once used by ford. I think which is australia. She's scored in the post. Game talked about her goals from the old days but Aubrey bledsoe was with her during the post game. And it's very clear. That page talks about her goalscoring prowess frequently all the time so when she talked about that she started the last so i think this was a i think that they they were enjoying themselves. Having a having had that goal. Finally gordon real yet yet. And i think it's a it was a very nicely well-taken goal off the corner kick very pretty early in the game if i remember correctly. "Trained. We're gonna win a lot of games and Restarting see the results restarting to see you know are hard workers achy painting off and i think that all the players are in tune with it keep sticking to each other keeping positive vibes on mindset in critical far in this in this year. What's it like. And i think that this is the case for both the coaches. You've been under as far as a coach that believes in youth and wants to give the youth and opportunity you. You saw playing time Last season You seeing it now. Obviously whenever you're healthy you're pretty much the the eleven. What's it like for you and the other players to realize like if you're if you're here and you're trying hard and training in your performance and training that you're not gonna get buried on the bench necessarily you're going to get opportunities. Griffons now griffin got a good run in these friendlies. He had a really good game in toronto. Maybe you're gonna see him more particularly with paul. Maybe i'll being album maybe even being longer. But what's the mentality of a young player. When you see coaches that are like yeah. I'm gonna put the best players in the field. That doesn't really matter what your salary was. Or how long you been here. But that's that's how he feels. What was that like for me. I look into into that too much. I show up by do what's asked were mice offer opportunities. I get that. I make sure that Whatever opportunity i get. I don't fumble it you know it. It's hard for a kid. My age to be in the position that i'm in and i'm gonna make sure that i am representing all the kids out there. That wants to be in my position that can't Unfortunately but Everyone in the team was working hard to achieve one goal to win. Play austin Part of that team Every every person every every staff member We're all in this together so I think my successors right now is all of them You mentioned that same interview about how you had to adjust to your new expectations for fitness. You and everybody else. I think i've now everybody. I've talked to at least the and that was like so. What was that beep test like. Like what was it was that there was a they. I think pablo did an article. The athletic that was talking about a meeting. That cat held afterwards hat. Everybody's like up on the wall. I don't know if that actually happened or not. I think this game was no payback kind of for a missing three points since in a shot from the minute the The ref blew the whistle. But we're all you know engaged or all fighting for all you know into the each other in just showed up in match. Competence was awesome. And i don't know if you. I don't know if you've edited opportunity to watching the spirit games. I was there this weekend covering the spirit game. Same mentality like. They came out north carolina courage like the team our team and from the start. They were just like. We're better than this team. Everyone's confident everyone's dribbling and it was the same as a strong game. It was just funny watching back-to-back games just two teams. United has been where they've been in the standings spirit have been sort of in the middle and they come out and play you know former champion not too long ago in toronto and just like this is our house we in arrest everybody and it doesn't matter it was fun weekend for dc fans of like the last as you were coming up. Did you play a lot of wingback or is this. Is this new for you. This is new for me. Mostly you know all my career played right wing or afford play ten but playing this more defensive before these turn pro Much of a defender. Maybe sometime take plays often. Defending dingo into tackles go into challenges. Headers all this. And i learned that you know maybe this right wing or or ten is not my actual position. I don't know. I still don't know where my extra position is. Just trying this out wing back role and to say the least. I love it. I love having being two. We decided player When that can having the freedom with a coach tactics system that can go forward those who also having the responsibility to drop back and you know i love the one doors going against me Just being that you know position is it's interesting one 'cause you coach wants we all in the box and then out of nowhere. I'm all we are box making that long run back you know making attack will make him defensive play so I'm starting to like it a lot. More getting used to Stony touches in tunes into my defensive rule. But you know that's gonna keep coming more play that role in the more assistance from the are back. Line or the coaches. It's probably easier to learn that The like a small elements of defense than it is to learn how to be creative. Offensively like i think that you're coming. I think it's a better attribute to go backwards and learn the wingback position than being a left back. That like we love you to get forward and take guys on across the ball. Maybe become a an offensive threat. So i feel like you're and also to you looking. I was thinking about the national team and they're always looking for help in that position..

"It's going to be a weird tournament. It's not going to be the usual Normal fund we get with the with the olympic so And i think. I think this is going to be the one olympics. I'm probably not gonna be usually get really into like i watch the swimming events. I watched the track but with everything being severely This is like the one olympics. Were like the little highlight show that everybody complains about is an actual good thing. Nbc is going to heaven too though they're gonna have. They're going to have private time viewers at night. Because there's no one else is gonna wanna get up that early so there. This works for them now. Obviously when you're nbc. And you have you're paying for all of your your streaming all on peacock. I'm sure like you'd like everyone to watch live. But you know at least in this case you can sell advertising prime time and make a lot of money so oh yeah i'm in a brunch viewings gonna to be yes. I will be doing that so sure. I'll be that is gonna kick Mlb to the to the curb. I'm gonna watch you know. Esoteric summer sports that i don't care about but i'm going to be like let's go number one. Usa ribbon dancing. I mean there was. There was the The curling the curling last year was was the big one. I remember checking that out For the winter olympics do they still do the thing with the ribbon where they throw it up in the air and catch it the gymnastics the rhythmic gymnastics. Because i think it pretty much you know means you're going to qualify unless there's something completely unforeseen which again unforeseen things have happened to the us men's national team. You gotta figure they can get by martinique. Then you're already you've qualified for the next round. Then you're just looking at a game against canada which i think would be a good match. I'm definitely going to want to try to check out that match but but yeah I enjoy it. We got the olympics. Coming up to The women's team also be playing in the olympics. I'm sure we're gonna do some coverage of that got those. I got this four thirty. Am start times man. You gotta be waking up. No no i think please god. No if i'm up that early something has gone horribly wrong. My child have a bad bad day. so no but hey at least you. At least you get some some olympic soccer john. I it's like it's like it's like if i was getting excited to watch a league soccer and that was just my there was a time during the pandemic when i was getting up at four. Am well that was when that was. My child was very very young so that was normal but like and watching korean baseball league and a league when it was on it was a weird time of this part of my on. I think that definitely took the wind out of the sales But i think the difference between mexico's trying to do what the us trying. Us is trying to figure out. Because we know the starters we know basically who the stars are and who can we fill out some roles Mexico needs to go out and win this game. "I do wonder. I do wonder the timing of this is an interesting Because there weren't any games. He played pretty much throughout the something he picked up in training. I'm wondering if they identified something and they are like again. Have this now And basically you know they. "Yeah also want to also say i hope all's okay i mean you know i'm sure i'm sure we all do and john saying he doesn't care about international soccer. I don't never will. Okay so you're saying is that you said that all is everybody benefit. I don't think all those really benefited from the system at all. I don't think it really fits him. Don't think it's kind of like trying to try. It's like josie toronto. He doesn't fit the system that we're trying to play. He's not a pressing for. He's not a mover. He's not getting in good position. She had one good goal one game or to really really awesome goals. I can't say anything like that. And then a pk. Well your hoping you're going to make that. And then you had a good game where he basically ran over defend or who. They had basically thrown in the towel. But that point you know but it was still a good goal but still. That's three goals in. How many games have you played. How many look in his goals per ninety look at as he's he's almost in the league in goals per ninety his he's been very efficient with time played. It doesn't seem like it but he also hasn't played that many games. 'cause yeah but i don't produce like he could though certainly not solution for sure he's not is on the long term but i think you're right i think you are i. I don't think we're arguing. The fact he. I don't think he has a a perfect fit for the system. I think the system has improved over previous years. I think he's done better. I think he does better with this system that he did underbid system. I think that's the statistics. Bear that out I but i do not think that he is an unquestioned starter. On a good team. And that's why he's not right now. I think he's he's in contention he's plays paid like a starter like you like. You mentioned rich like he. He's paid to be your your number nine every week. But that's not the case so we've got to adjust and and try to make do the players that we do have at their disposal. Yeah i'd like to see in while he's good compared to the other scores and molest. So let's get started Dc united academy. When did you join what about. How many years ago did you join the academy setup. Yes i joined around five. And a half years ago i was. I got it from american arkansas. And then from there i got i got pick out into the kademi so i i think i i all these people coming into the academy obviously have played for the club teams there. Either the stars of their clubs usually the stars of the club by imagine and then everybody gets put into a big group the first time. What was that like sort of being in that environment where you're maybe not the first name on the team. She'd ever week. Because maybe there's guys who've been longer or maybe a little bit ahead of you in the development. What was that for you yet. It's definitely it's different very different. I think our club like you said you're one of the one of the best guys one of the big dogs but then coming here it's everybody's handpicked everybody high level and I think it's just you. You can't take off pretty much if if you wanna get on professional the coach or the rest of your teammates saying like i'm here than it has to be everyday everyday yet to perform well in that high level that's sounds like we'll griffin said when he when we were talking about how is what his academy was like. Who just sort of like you can't ever have a bad practice. You can't sort of not give one hundred percent because that's level Sort of speaking of that did. When did you know as you were going through that process that you might have a future career ahead of you and soccer so realize that just relating that I could. I could be one of those players that put together consistent performances in gains in practice. You know just enjoying that process of okay. Every day it has to be your percent. And.
