"And there or if they are they're going to be as far away from each other as possible. The broncos have been doing that already for a while because of a number of positive tests but started all the way back with the first positive test in season with running backs. Coach curtis mckenzie started doing intensive protocols and at times hyper-intensive. I guess is is the distinction. But they're doing that this week with with meeting virtually because they realize it's just not worth it to get that extra face to face time versus keeping everyone healthy so they're ready to go game too. I think we're gonna see that across the board probably as the plus get closer and into the playoffs. Who knows what that situation look like. Actually i guess i'll ask you guys assume that she's make the playoffs and i think there are almost a mathematical lock ad. They talked about a bubble scenario. Even their own. If it's not mandated by the league but saying hey we're gonna make a playoff run. We're going to stay at whether it's an airport ramada or some other hotel say we're doing this for a month We love our families. But we also winning super bowls not public but early on. I know that the That said trainer was kind of in favor of it. And i think it kinda got downplay by everybody else said. No one was willing to kind of take those steps at the time. I i'm guessing. I don't know that they'll do anything you know. Out of their own I'm curious to see though if the nfl comes up with a plan that everybody has to do this. Come come playoff time but not publicly. they haven't they haven't discussed that notion although I'm guessing the trainer may still be in favor of it well and even if the trainer's not favor of it if if i'm andy reid i'm going with a bubble if i if i'm mike tomlin going with the bubble it you know once you reached the postseason because you get through the entire regular season the seventeen weeks of this regular season he can kinda take a deep breath but then the playoffs here. That's the real season starts for a team like the chiefs or the or the steelers this year or you know whoever else is going to get into the playoffs in the afc. not that it really matters. it's the chiefs and steelers. I believe in everybody else. But if i'm head coach of of an organization in the playoffs get here. I'm saying guys. We made it this far. We've got what three or four weeks left. Let's go into a bubble just to make sure that we all stay safe and healthy. The last thing you wanna do is roll into the divisional round of the playoffs and all of a sudden you have a covert outbreak. Because somebody took their mask off at the wrong time. Let me ask you guys about this game specifically well actually before i before. I look at this game specific. Let me ask you guys about last week in tampa. I appreciated patrick mahomes comments about it. Seemed like he was basically doing a site check. And it's good to get there to the stadium and see how everything looks in the field and the hotel and like did they do we know. Did they stay in the hotel that the team would stay in. Do they already go ahead and do that. And and try to get some sort of feel for what a trip to tampa might look like an early to potentially mid or late february depending on how the rest of the season goes. I did not hear that. It's not a bad idea but it's also not an anti reads. Mo either that he's not the guy that will allow them to do it and allow them to get thinking that far ahead. I think he knows that the some of the players were probably thinking about it as they stepped on the field but he won't let go any farther than that. So i had not heard the hotel thing wouldn't be a bad idea to get the kind of the lay of the land and take take care of those things but but who knows by that point in time they may not even be staying down there right flying the day of the game. Who knows what's gonna happen by by the point We get to the super bowl and you know. Patrick talked about the sight lines and everything that he was looking at in that stadium. Maybe by the time the super bowl rose they're confident. They have a heck of a lot more people in that building than they were. You know a couple of weeks ago down in tampa when they played that game. So maybe you're looking at a completely different atmosphere with fans in that state. So i appreciate him saying that. And i get what he's saying the walk to the locker room and all that kind of stuff but that shows you where the mindset. This team is right now brandon. It's not just a we want a super bowl. Everything's great fantastic and that's it. Their goal is to continue to win super bowls into use every opportunity that they can to gain an advantage over any opponent. That's currently on. The schedule may be on the schedule here in the next couple of weeks. Well let me ask you guys and josh. I'll start with you. We obviously saw the chief come in. And take it to the broncos. I think the broncos certainly help between just giving giving away points special teams defense and the final score was ugly. There was some infighting on the sideline and and the broncos. Obviously you know that. Even though gary ball said there are a lot closer and he said it again this week to me on On the podcast That he really believes that. The broncos and chiefs are really close. They just turn the ball over in this net. How much has changed with this chiefs team in the six weeks or so Since they played josh. I'll start with you as the sideline reporter will let you go first. This time how much. How much of the chiefs changed at all. I guess let me on bell would be the biggest one and we really haven't seen a ton of honest and they. We thought we might see more of an impact from bell. But he's been kind of a kind of a bit player a certainly from a passing perspective. Offensively they they have absolutely a mushroom since that point in time not just last week with the four hundred sixty yards passing from from patrick mahomes but it's been week after week with with kelsey and tyreek hill. Patrick mahomes in that combination And throwing the ball over the art so we see them evolved tremendously from from a passing standpoint over that stretch Defensively they've been pretty solid other than a couple of games and they happen to be both matchups with the raiders but other than that they've been pretty solid Throughout so this has been an ever evolving improving football team. They didn't play their best offensive game. The last time out against the broncos you mentioned the broncos may have helped with With defense and special teams chipping in for the for the scoring of that game but that was also a game brandon that that we looked at and said well. That's a different way to win a game. And i think that's one of the things that she's done very well this year as they vowed different ways to win games on different weeks Based on you know How how a defense is attacking them or maybe a game where you lean on the defense a little bit longer or or you have the The special teams get involved. They've been very very good at finding different ways to win. I think that first broncos matchup was an example that bob have you noticed anything in the last six weeks. That should scare the broncos even more obviously we know how good this team is. Is there an improvement. Beyond the addition of le vian bell and i guess that's interesting to let me on bell hasn't become a focal point of the somebody thought he would so i'll ask two questions. What has changed. And then how levy bell fitting in i guess to a team. That doesn't need him but as happy to have him. Well i'll start with wavy on bell. I i don't know that he's fitting or not fitting in with this team because they're not utilizing john bell a whole heck of lie and the more you look at it. Maybe you start to realize they sign le'veon bell just so he wouldn't go like maybe miami or pittsburgh or someplace like that. They wanted to get lazy on belen. Here maybe play more of a pre type of defense than really utilize him. I thought we'd see levy on bell more in the short yardage situations. Like that's where i really want to see him like last week. We saw you know first and goal inside the one yard line. They weren't able to score a touchdown on that they've been suspect. You know in those short yardage situations andy. Reid is basically taken out. The quarterback sneak because of what happened to mahomes up in denver year ago. He says yeah. I'm not running the quarterback sneak in those situations anymore. So i thought that's related. I'm bellwood fit in. We have not seen him in that situation yet. We really since that that lasts broncos game brandon. I'm still looking for that. Like really just domination of a game where you go out there and you recommend venture recommend special teams and you recommend offense because even with that game against denver you know You know a couple of weeks ago. They won that game not necessarily because their offense was spectacularly score special teams touchdown they get a defensive touchdown. That's all cool. I want to see a complete game. And i don't know that we've truly seen complete game yet this season from this team. And that's good. They haven't peaked yet. Well so i look at you know. I i like to look at the matchup page. And when you look at the chief you know they're going to be top five top ten in this case number one in a bucket. One and two and a bunch of categories but defensively. There's a little more top ten appearance there. Defensively there's a few more top ten appearances and maybe there was a year ago. Points per game get but they're also taking the ball away at a pretty high clip seventh best league fourth in turnovers and they're solid enough on third down. I guess red zones where you can get to the red zone. You're going to score. So are there concerns about this defense especially their pass.

"Blue wire well Dave just paid Jar Glenn of very high compliment or before the break talking about how. Now he's kind of put. I think Eagle aside a little bit to change up his defensive zone scheme. I think it's interesting to consider glance methods especially in light of Uh All that's going around the NHL Right now Like we've kind of briefly touched on earlier. Dell Stars fired their coach this week. There's been a lot of talk about coaching because Angel has now released. They basically code of conduct coaches after a bunch of allegations of abuse from former coaches like bill. Peters was fire step down I should say he resigned. From the Calgary. Flames probably would have been fired but he resigned. Technically those. You can't fire me I quit. Yeah Mike Babcock who was fired for results from the Toronto Maple leafs but later it came out that there's some allegations of emotional abuse so players so it's a very interesting time in hockey right now. Just in terms of Culture Wise for coaching and I was really fascinated here. Jor Glands kind of comments about that. This week He basically said I want those guys meaning meaning his players locker room to think of me like their teammate. Like I want them to think of me as I'm pulling for them. I'm pushing them. I want us to be the best team. Possible but I'm on their side and I thought Kinda given the light of the culture of hockey right now. That was really interesting. The other things that you know he said had the kind of stuck out to me. Was That comment about your coaching again. You're not coaching against your players. You're coaching coaching with your players. Here's and I think that's something that we've always heard from glance players you know even from I mean I remember talking talking to Alexandra Barkov a couple years ago. All Star game about about charge Glenn in Florida and just kind of you know what made him a coach. Everybody seemed to be so loyal to like. You haven't heard anything ever anybody ever say. Anything bad about drug land like even in Columbus when he got fired wired. And when you know like everybody loves every players love him they love his honesty they love the fact that they know where they stand with him. And Yeah there's probably F- bomb or twelve in there you know and maybe a few other not safe for work words and things like that you know. And and and that's part of him that's a little of his personality. You know players like the way that he coaches them. It's different it's it's different style. It's not a Mike Babcock. I'M GONNA play head Games with you. It's not you know I. I remember like the eighties and things might keen in iron. Mike Keenan. You know you're team was struggling. Are you go higher Mike Keenan and he come in and with everybody in the shape in probably. Do you know a week worth bag skates. And and all this kind of stuff and you know it's changed in that players. Don't respond to that anymore and I don't want to do an okay boomer thing and sound like the old guy you know but it's a different. It's a different generation in that sense and and white players now are used to being coached and what's acceptable and and you uh-huh kind of us as a culture what's acceptable. It's it's shifted. You know I'm not gonNA say for the better for the worse or whatever because I don't want to you know get into any sort sort of conversations like that but the reality is it's shifted. No I definitely agree As the you know young millennial in the room you know it's interesting to hear Juergen talk about some of that stuff throughout his tenure here like in terms of bags cates. He's like what are those accomplished. Like those. The old kind of hockey punishment enjoyment of your coach is going to make you do When I was playing you thought he was Herbie's For those of you who don't know just watch the movie miracle and it's just that a bunch of times it's basically just a bunch of skating and he's like yeah. I'm GONNA tire my guys out like a couple of days before game. Like what does that really accomplished like. I think his players respect that he treats them like adults and that he's he's willing to kind of forgive mistakes. She hasn't hold something over your head as Alex. Tuck told me last year he will yell at you for a couple minutes straight and then he will just turn right around and then crack a joke with you like he will get it out of his system and he will move on and I think players respond to that atom just being being around the team I think you you get an understanding of how they feel about him in how That interaction kind of works in you know I. I think Glenn hasn't really necessarily all the time. Show that you know that lighthearted side To a lot of people but you see it occasionally here and there and I think you see more when he's interacting with his players and they just they I just like them and it doesn't mean always being their friend as you guys were kind of alluding to I mean it's more. Just hey when you mess up. You're going to know that you messed up. And you're going to know why you messed up and what you did wrong and you're going to be expected to fix it but it's going to be kind of on you and it's not going to be him. You know standing over you every single second of every single day screaming and yelling and And intriguing when you poorly so I I think you just don't understand the relationship that Players have an as Dave said you. Just you see like nobody has even after you know a a bad interaction. Necessarily nobody has bad things to say about him in their their dealings with him because they just they understand What they did and what they have to due to get better and it's expected to be on them and I think you know players kind of respond to that no definitely and Make sure to check out Dave's GonNa have a piece kind of addressing a lot of this stuff later say Wednesday Wednesday in the Review Journal so check that out one last bit of news we definitely have to get to her comes to the Golden Knights is. They've made a call up. Recently Cody Glass Scott Injured in the Sunday game against the Rangers. She took an elbow to the back of the head. Announced a timeline for the Golden Knights. But it is an upper body injury so to fill his spot in the lineup. They've called on old friend. Valentine Zico from the American Hockey League Zeka for those of you. Who Don't remember was spending twenty games earlier this year for violating violating the initial in initial as performance enhancing substances policy The nights backed the bus over him. When that happened? George mcphee he said this is a black and white situation. He knowingly took substances without our knowledge or consent. He's been taking supplements for four years. We don't agree with it and Z.. Cough released a statement. That said I don't know how this happened Z.. Cough when we asked him on Tuesday about is I don't know how it happened and when we asked him why he doesn't know how it happened. While George mcphee has called it black and white. He said he just wants to move forward and play hockey Z.. Cobb never the MO- more loquacious quashes type in so you certainly. We were not expecting to get a lot of answers out of him but I mean David is certainly interesting that that is the guy they went with with the guy who recently was suspended. And then you know wasn't that great before suspension as opposed to some other options in the age l.. Yeah I guess that's where they have them you know in terms of organizational rankings and things like that. I don't know how else to look at it really other than you now. What Brian Period due to you know get buried or or I mean I guess you put him on the third line so like you know originally thought Zykov is going to play in the fourth line? Like why wouldn't you bring up. Curtis McKenzie's played well. It just seems like there's some options or some other things that the optics don't look as bad but they're her clearly committed to giving him another chance. I'M NOT GONNA say second chance I'M GONNA say another chance because he's on about his fourth chance really like like this isn't his second chance you know which I'd Kinda like to make clear in a lot of regard. A lot of this stuff is is I mean whether he he deserves it or not in in whatever like he got caught he did something. He tested positive. He cheated served time. Now if you desert you know if you feel like he deserves succumb back. You know that you're certainly entitled to that. You know opinion as a as a fan or whomever I guess a worst George. mckean killing the Kremlin. You know I mean personally like I don't if I'm a fan. I don't like the optics of it if I'm brandon period and I'm brandon periods agent. I'm pretty ticked that. You chose the guy who got caught you know cheating basically over over me who has has gone down played well in the minors you know or somebody else. Whoever it might be down there Nicaragua another option right you know they over Nicholas Wa? They chose Valentine's AINSI call. He's a big strong kid he's an NHL player. What are they got construct? Yeah exactly so. It's just jokes out to me that every time you ask ask Glenn about about him. He says big strong kit. It's almost like he's trolling at this point. It's it's very it's very very noticeable to because it's just his standard answer about the and and it it it is. It is a very interesting decision to make You're right the optics seem horrible To me but I mean at the same time it could also be. Maybe they art considering like what is our future with him. And maybe it's it's an audition process at this point of. Let's let's see if we want to you know if he's going to contribute at a level that we need or if it's like okay. We don't need him around anymore. I don't know Ah. He's a restricted freedom. A after this season Brennan period of course to a two year contract this summer so they have period for sure under contract for at least another season Nicholas Wa also. RFA after this season but you would expect that they would resign him at a probably low cap number number worth pointing out the does have the lowest cap number of the three of them. He's making a believe six seventy five K.. Nikola swabbing and seven twenty Brennan periods. Megan seventy in seventy five K.. So none of these..

"And get a new sign up bonuses up to fifty dollars. Now there was a a question. It's gonna be a passionate question. Yesterday asked on the conference call about whether the team it was better now than they were at the end of the season. <hes> in your mind are they yeah. It is a good question. I don't know how you can really make the definitive argument right now that they are better now. The key thing here is we've talked about this a lot. I think that the team that ended the season last year was a lot better than on the team that began it for the golden knights because obviously they added mark stone <hes> schaffenberger move from the left side of the right side of the blind. I thought he played really well toward the end of the year. John zarrella merged urged so i do think the nights we're in pretty good shape at the end of last year and that group is pretty much largely intact. They moved around the fringes and stuff but but that part's fine they really haven't pumped it up that much so it's hard for me to tell where this group is going to be because once they got stone they played at about a hundred some some point pace like hundred four. I think it was throughout the rest of the year. That's excellent. That's you know potentially. You're winning the pacific division next year but then you subtract a carpenter belmar are by the way i'll make the caveat also that that's a that's that kind of a pace and that's factoring in the fact that when flurry was down they really struggle. There was a stretch that they like. They're they're playing out of their minds for a long stretch with stone and then had a couple of injuries late in the season and kind of went into the law when they couldn't they were in that zone where they can catch anybody and nobody could catch them like they weren't gonna move up or down in a funk. They were in a funk and they still had that pace. Yes i mean i i would. I i would argue that there. They were playing at a higher level than that when they had their full team attacks a lotta melting suzanne there yeah so you can you can make that case <hes> that you know they didn't have have to get that much better because the team that they had on the ice even though there was the meltdown at the end of game seven obviously <hes> if not for that they're a second round team potentially going on making another very deep run in the in the playoffs so the team that beat them made it so the western conference finals so they didn't have to get that what better staying about where you were is probably pretty good. It is and i get people though that you can still pick a lot of knits with this team in terms of like i'm. I'm not that excited about the bottom six. Not that excited about what is now you know for sure locked in a third line winger brandon perry not sure if that's the guy you want to you know just handed job to the fourth line. I think you know peer edward bell marto tomasz. No sick potentially at portland center is pretty big downgrade. If that happens <hes> calling me might miss miss a little bit on the power play. You know that's one where you just don't know how a rookie would potentially fill in at that spot. During the year older ganglands a year older actually do kind liked the idea of him being a third pair defend with one of the rookies but who knows if that will actually happen. Marc andre flers year old. They're not so there's a lot of like you know now knits to pick around the edges edges where i don't think you do that as much with last year's team where they for the most part their forwards groups and their defense group at the end of last year you know been then have a true like number one defense like. I don't think it's like you know a top level all star kinda guy but other than that. I think they're pretty solid top to bottom this. One is a little little roster right. Now is a little bit more top-heavy there are still you know some growth stocks terms the young defenseman that could come in. I think that's where you look at the potential for growth in the in the potential optimism that you could have is sure you lose some guys that were that were key factors but it does open up some spots for some of the younger players to come up particularly the defensemen which which i know a lot of people are very excited about <hes> but you could also have the potential for a guy like code elastic contributing definitely find all a._c._m. And yeah and if he brings excitement if he can bring the kind of production that he's brought <hes> throughout his you know his his career <hes> as he's moved up in the levels then that's a guy that you there'll be a lot of excitement about and people will be in could make the team better with that kind of a you know youthful infusion coming into the team no definitely and i don't know if you'll find a role right away on this team so i'm not sure you want him to put them at fourth line center leaves. That's not what i would do had him. <hes> continue developing the h. l. but hey i mean paul. Stazzone zinni has not made it through a full season in quite a while. I mean he's you know pretty consistently missing ten fifteen game the season you that cody was up to second line you call cody glass up and he's your third line and center for a couple of games so i think i mean there's no doubt in my mind that cody glass will probably getting n._h._l. Opportunity at some point this season. I don't know if it's gonna come right out of training camp but he's gonna. I have to be ready at some point in this year for call up. You've also got more certainty with william carlson which i do feel that at times the contract situation got to him last year. Now you can make the argument that once you get paid. There's some complacency and some kind of resting on your laurels a little bit but i think in his case he was he. I was thinking a lot about production to get the contract and now that's in the past so i mean that's that's something that changes. That is a fascinating subplot that were i mean almost all their forwards. They're locked in for all of the top six. Besides stazzone is locked in for at least i believe three seasons and will smith is three seasons hostilities is to everybody else is at least four yeah if you wanted to do a top seven and include alex took like yeah. It's crazy and so there i mean that entire four group is locked in your top three defensemen then schmidt theodore brandon mcnabb are all locked in for at least three years. I believe there's there's good and bad to that. I mean yeah it's great that if they're all playing playing well and performing at the level that they have and you've got them walked up your thrilled and you've got your team locked in as a contender for years if a couple of guys fall off and are struggling winging. You're paying a lot of money and you don't have a whole of cat flexibility then it does become an issue so we can go either way right definitely but for the most part yeah this roster set this roster still still one that arguably obviously should have advanced in the playoffs last year. I mean i think if you look at a lot of you know analytic models projections coming into the playoffs the nights where you you know one of the three favorites to come out of the west i mean you know analytics really liked that team. They're really good and you know a lot of the basic like corsi stats and stuff like that didn't always translate on the ice. The analytics always liked them and i think just you know i was thinking about this today. I don't think the roster that they have right now. Is that much different different than what you would have said about. The saint louis blues roster going into last season's. Postseason probably not like that blues roster now is going to be legendary because they brought that city idiots. I you know stanley cup like going into last postseason. I was like blown away with the blues roster hockey. Sometimes you get hot and things happen and that's one of the reasons so i think we all love the sport and love especially the postseason because you know you get hot at the right time and then anything can happen and there's only so much kind of planning inning enforce that you can have over that as a front office you know there's mcphee smarter in the minds of people today if they had advanced the western conference finals and lost to the blues. Does it get more benefit of the doubt with this trait if that happens probably yeah. It's like a fascinating question because we and we don't know and life doesn't work that way but it is interesting to me because i do think last year's team was that talented and at the top didn't need that much work and you just lost a little around. The margins ends because you kept that top group together but overall. I don't think like this season is obviously. I think you should still if you're fan. Expect the nights to be right there in the next for the pacific division title so look we'll look at real quick before we get out of here a little bit of what could be positioned battles heading into training camp right now on the on the n._h._l. Roster it's flurry in to ban but there could be some potential. I think this is there to push. Malcolm sube l. but just assuming a little bit uncomfortable after kind of not so great year for malcolm last year. I think that was a big part of the reason of bringing him in defense and they're six on the n._h._l. Roster that we're pretty certain are going to be there <hes> schmidt theodore mcnabb whole than merrill england and then i think an opening for maybe two of the younger guys one or two. It's i'd be curious how they play that. I think it depends on the guy a jimmy shall. I think he's ready. You know he's already played in the n._h._l. I would guess he's gonna compete really hard everyone of those spots and then i could see them potentially giving another job to like a jake bischoff who's older like twenty four and even if he doesn't win a spot in the top six they might say jake has not learning anything else in the a._h._l. It's time for him to just be in the n._h._l. And you know get a chance at some point whereas it's no fun because i was gonna say my picks. Were gonna be shutting bischoff to be the last two. I still think like i think nick has a real good chance to impress and you know but i think nick has asked to make the top six. Nick has to be on your second or third pair to start the year or else you're sending them back to the h. L. for more seasoning those my thought on him because he's still twenty and you know he's still incredibly young a lot of time to develop and you don't want him sitting in the press box watching games in the n._h._l. It's either playing or back d._h._l. A._h._l. for him so i think they're going to be hesitant to trust them to play every night and he'll be back in the h. L. at least for now in the n._h._l. At some point very preseason. I'm really interested to see yeah. I think you're gonna get more of a leash in the preseason a lot of these guys well. He'll definitely be a guy to watch and then technically there's fourteen forwards on the history now <hes> there's going to there's going to be some some movement. Here's flexibility and maybe some opportunity for young guys. Who do you see is odd men out there. I mean i just think the guys that stick out like kinda. Sore thumbs right now is they're gonna probably make a decision on either curtis mckenzie or valentine's e cov. We'll see if one or both are still on the roster by the time training camp it ends. I mean they're the clear guys go. I'm not really sure that they're going to have a big role. In this team this year. They should be pencilled into any sort of you know <hes> top hop four lines just seem so intrigued zekovic potential for some reason they do and i guess we'll see what he looks like in training camp and i mean certainly he could get chances chances this year. I don't think you're like super locked into brandon pirie every single night like i certainly don't think brain perry is a guy. You're going to get that jack about playing eighty. The two games fremont seems to love him..
