"A baseball get head off the box some swings against the big unit. Nobody's like i you. I can break brian. Urlacher tackle is only happens with basketball. It's got the one on one nature. Yeah i guess. I guess it does happen a little bit in tennis right. Where like you'll be like okay. I challenge you but you tennis player. Andy murray you gotta pay play with a frying pan. Maybe we should make it a little bit more even for player for amateurs challenging professional basketball players. Like the basketball player. Like scalping should plan sox. Brian own little bit tougher for him. Make it hard for him to move. I mean it's not like he's blowing by this guy but if he's slipping around there he's not able to get quite as much body on well. Did this charity thing for the school. Wants with pull brothers and curtis. Joseph was the goalie and regulatory tech to try to score on him. And it's so funny because you know when we play basketball you think you're moving at a reasonable speed but when someone's video it's like the slowest thing ever these people skating up to curtis joseph and it was just tapping the pocket him. You just was basically just like like that because when you watch hockey it's like they laser. They're going to have these incredible reflexes and kid was like thirty so i think he was still playing the late at the time but it was just like. Oh my god like it's just playing. It's children you know. He just he just has no. He had so much time to react. Yeah it is a great point. Trae makes the. Why is it basketball. Rice us fans or whoever like think they could like take these guys. It's something about the irrational confidence being baseball player yacht. Yeah it's very weird when you really step back and think about it but okay. Great tweeted thoroughly. Really spark conversation love. It showed up discolored reading..

"And i wonder you know when we last spoke to you. You hadn't had a chance to see your grandchild yet and now this christmas being this first one with that whole family together. What's going to mean to you well. It's obvious special. And i think you've gone through the years of having the older kids and you know in our old house had a backyard rink that you'd have a fire going and play out on the rink. We had a rink out here one year for the younger kids and really enjoyed that this year. Elliott i i actually jesse and sam roadside Gonna make sort of afforded piling up. Snow and i with nothing to do. I ended up building a little christmas hut. It's about eight by six. And it's got christmas lights all around it. So the kids have a little place to go. It becomes more special. The younger kids. Obviously samantha's thrilled with santa claus comment again and can't wait for that to happen and for our little granddaughter. Stevie the most challenging part is since they got here in edmonton. We've had the restrictions of. We're not even allowed now. Originally we were allowed to have them in the house. 'cause they're staying at their mom's place and now we're not even allowed to have them in the backyard. So i'm really only been able to spend a couple of times with with stevie but as you know. The magic of christmas is in the youngsters. In with samantha being seven. It's pretty exciting. I know of for for dylan haley. My daughter-in-law they're going to be thrilled having stevie and her first christmas so hopefully we'll get a chance to at least see. Thanks for much for coming on and joining us craig. We really appreciate it. Well i appreciate it. I enjoy listening to you. Guys and happy hanukkah elliott and merry christmas to all and i hope everybody stays safe stays healthy and look forward to seeing you guys in in person sometimes soon love these soon and look forward to hearing you call a game again soon. Simmer thanks be well. Have a great holiday right. Take care elliott. There's no kind of party like carolyn cameron party. So we are bringing her on with the big question of the day that caroline were asking everybody. What is in your cup. Your drink of choices. What this time of year. A nice glass of red wine and you're particular right now. I'm really into cab soave. Does that make me. Sound like a snob. Its fifteen dollar cab of so if it makes you feel any better. You sound like a snob for many other reasons. Besides elliot's just happy that someone did. They didn't say eggnog. Run dog i hate eggnog. Or we had a run on eggnog. But that seems to have Have hit a crescendo. And is now descending. First of all caroline. Thanks so much for popeye as always wonder holidays like for you give us give us a snapshot sort of getting to give us a childhood snapshot. What do you remember he. You know great christmas holiday stories you have stashed away in your in your hip pocket. What's yours yeah. I'm very much a person of routine. And i think that's started even from a young age of traditions. 'cause my dad has a video of every year since my eldest brother was born of myself and my two older brothers coming down the stairs christmas morning opening our stockings the night before we would always read twas the night before christmas which he also has on the whole movie camcorder and yeah just family time. We'd really just stay in. We'd go to my grandma's in the morning To open presence there and then my parents would always host christmas dinner. So we'd have a boat ch probably eighteen. People see. i was always great so that i mean this year is going to be different. We're just going to social distance and see everyone outside but even though it's it's sad it's we're so used to it and twenty twenty know. I say i'm lucky that my parents were never big into the whole movie. Kind of thing i would hate to see. There's enough embarrassing stupid. Things i've done in my life like on camera for enough people to see it. They don't need them to see young videos at the radios. They got news for you. They've been fifty awkward years. Never mind but do you watch them at all caroline and would you ever let anyone see them. Yeah and i was like i was especially for my first few years of life. I was kind of a scary looking kid on a little crazy running around. I was of just the prototypical third child. So yeah it's i don't embarrass to easily. I would let i would let people see them around. Eleven twelve thirteen probably gets a little rough. I don't watch them often. But my dad did like convert all of the vhs tapes onto dvd's and then he put them on a hard drive niles he recorded a lot. He's he's basically none of them though. You know what that's funny because the my most precious one of maybe the most precious gift ever got from christmas from my wife. A few years ago Because my parents the old i am. I'm elliot age. My parents shot a lot of stuff. But it's all on. Hi eight and super eight. What am i getting a chance to see that. So sneakily had. The mall digitized and gave them to me for christmas one year. Stuff that i'd never seen before and both my parents have passed on and just like your dad. My dad's none of them because he's holding the camera. Do you have a favorite christmas present other current or From from a young caroline. Cameron gonna tell a story on here. So i don't know if. I should tell it already but that has to do with a very memorable christmas present for so. My grandma much. Like me was just a very proactive organized person and perhaps a little bit obsessive about it so we always had to give our christmas wishlist thanksgiving and it had to be very detailed because most of the time she didn't understand what the we were asking for just she just wanted to go get it and we'd be happy with our gift so i really wanted. I think i was about eight or nine a leafs jersey. And i think i was at the time where you know that stage. Where your tab growth spurt in your feet or too big for your body. And i think getting hand me down clothes to always ohio grow into it. You'll grow into so. I asked her for a leafs jersey. And i thought well i guess i'll be. I'll get a men's large because all grow into it. So she got me the jersey my one and only leafs jersey and i still have it underneath the bed and i never grew into it. It is massive. Is there a number and a name plate on it. No no number. But it's the old style logo. Where would you have gotten. I would have probably at the time. Gotten curtis joseph. But i think i was also which is kinda cute. I was cognizant about how much it would cost and it was cheaper to. Just get a jersey. That didn't have a number on the back. Well you're looking for your family. That's that's very very very ethical of you. Impressive now it was your family that. Did you have any like christmas traditions whether it was hockey outdoors.

"Goaltenders Eddie Belford Curtis Joseph. So I tell my son now now in Montreal. You've got carry price. Make it to the playoffs. You never know what can happen. So that's just You know that was a blessing playing in Toronto and my hometown and the Madison Dean. Obviously who is the guy who who made it up and he was the guy we never really had that second guy so Matson Margulis Kinda usually did it but it is a tough guy and playoffs. She get the just play. You don't have to think about fighting. And every game I played over thousand games ahead the dress every game thinking you might have to fight no matter what so. It was almost a distraction mentally. Feel more comfortable playoffs like you just had to like really told you small so I had to really really focused right. And guys are big Meyer. They were they were often. They're mean the naked flight. You know I'm not saying guys can't fight now. I don't think that they know how to fight as well and I don't don't think they really they don't really fight to hurt you. You know nowadays. It's Kinda just be lucky to see a hit nowadays is didn't have youtube where you watching though the vhs studying guys and stuff. I know but you know being dyslexic. I was one of those guys that you know visually. When you see something you you remember and so I always knew what guy the guys spot and what hand through so that was kind of You know the photographic very interesting you run it through a couple of times of the day and and that was. That was the thing that I really had to do. was I had to outsmart everybody when I fought him because there are twice my size and I had to and you know guys used to stand there and throw toe to toe and I said there's no way I can I can you know Sustain this in in last in the NHL have to change and actually did change the way Guys do fight. You know I'm not GonNa sit there and take punches that stupid you know so well I mean even you were pretty hard core. I was talking to Cam Janssen the other day. And we're like man my people bolt. We're Kinda the last of the fighters people think we're like these tough guys. We didn't fuck and do it like the guys before us. Those guys you guys even guys before you they they would just stand in the pocket before me and when I you know I was just too small to stand there and go toe to toe and I tried that a few times and you know it was like Yeah No. I'm not going to keep doing this so I I actually changed. And it was a blessing plane with Joko show. When I was young he came to New York and he threw he threw the right bomb? I'm an Thrilled both hands and you throw hard. He said you know you your hands looking like this. He said don't waste punches. And take the helmet off. So I literally literally started getting in and taking guys helmets off then throwing bombs you know it was all about the grip but always about the stance always being calm and I was telling you people say how did you do you. You always look calm. which was crazy? It's a quote Unquote Act or not. I think when people get mad date they they overreact and not in control and that's not the way to fight especially in the NHL who's probably the best that it now is reeves you watch him before a fight and it's his heart rate slows down. He just very patient and calm and I hate to keep beating the fighting horse but yeah I think people want to know what the psychological aspect besides guy your size always ask me and you guys are hockey show so I don't. I don't mind doing it you know. It's you've been asking me for a long time busier a good the MAC so I'm happy to That's a whole different thing We gotta get into later later on. What what a great kid do you WanNa talk about Burns e actually? I wanted to go back to program for a second. You follow them across the street that epic brawl and he gives the old you know got the title title belt was data predetermined. Then you're doing that happened spontaneously. Well that was the days of the Hulk Hogan and Macho man and all that stuff and probably tells the story when when we actually actually before we fought the first time on. Let's go a macho man. Shot at the title so it was a whole. It was a whole gimmick back. Then the belt thing you know I felt that I got the better when the first one in you know he was the champ and He was always the champ so he was a he was a very very very Great special individual that I got the no after our careers. I didn't say what was your advice relationship. I got the norm after game. You know we had too much of big robbery to I.

"And the highest pay forward Jonathan Joy in five and a half million a year for another favorite team you know but he's I think I think this is still some consistency issue down. Tampa looked like he finally kind of arrived. You Know Steve E. Y. Got Rid of them the right time and made the trade I don't I don't know of He's the guy to lead this team. Offensively I mean I'd like to see more of a more consistency. I don't know man like not to knock the guy nothing against him. I just feel like I don't know if he's got that burning desire. I think he's kind of like you know my way or the highway type thing. You said like some days some games he'll just disappear. I believe a few times last year. The media was getting a little bit because he struggled. I mean for what the break Oh look it is Hugh's third third overall pick third overall pick and and I'm not saying that see Steve y Saul Saul what it was in realize hey this is not the one of the guys that we need to keep around because he had to make decisions on scale Guy Tyler Johnson and and you know he probably saw some cracks in his game and he still hasn't improved on those mistakes so right now great move by Tampa. I don't I think he's he's regretting it much. show playoffs not for the Canadians Biz. I say I say no and that's no disrespect to them. I think they have some some moves to make and they're getting getting better when you already said no I said No. I think honestly I mean haven't seen Clo- coach for years with Boston. That guy can get a lot of rosty might not the can and I think honesty Z. Bringing Kincaid I I mean the M E was bad last year in bringing and Kincaid. I think that's GONNA be improvement so they might be able to get better goaltender overall. His price wouldn't have to play as much. I think price can have a big yeah. I get the haves in they would just out last year by a little. I think they just got improve. Somewhat I get in the playoffs. I have this philosophy that like sometimes like stargell carry price like why me I talked to to Curtis Joseph about it because we meet for coffee for a few hours in one thing that he said was he loved being the guy so it's like not saying he would want his backup to struggle but like if NAM Yummy wasn't playing they looked to carry like like yo you gotTa Win all your games last year. Carey price was back to carry price right so I mean I'm not saying that if they can cade in there that that if he's playing playing well it might fuck things up but you know sometimes you know goalies in the back of the mind. A little bit got a little pressure. He's been around. No maybe not a guy you WANNA be fucking. Burn out with sixty sixty five spots if you don't have to so all right I got them going the playoffs you too don't next up team. A lot of people are talking about the Florida Panthers. They finished up last year at eighty six six points lots of new faces in this city share Gabe Brodsky big signing a net noah cherry big on the bottom six Brett Conley Anton Stroman they said goodbye to Roberto Luongo who retired in James Raimo Leff of Patches the one big addition though doesn't wear uniform. That's probably Joel Quenneville him and Del Town. They're gonNA try to recreate some of that midway magic. They didn't Chicago Down in south Florida. Also a whole new tandem inept Bobrovsky obvious thought of the same Samuel Monta Mbo is going to be backing up and that's like they would kill the panthers goaltender all due respect to Roberto Hall of fame and all that but it was a rough year for the panthers net if they got you know averaged a you know better than average golden. They might have been the playoffs show with go do for us with Florida. Don't you boy this is my team along with Dallas where a lot of people are kind of saying. Look what these two are going to do. While I'm on board with both of them I love I love. I love what they've done there and starts with Quenneville the guide knows how to win. He's done it everywhere everywhere he's ever been and now they have a guy behind the bench. There and I think that guy's really liked. What was his name last year all Buddha just drawing a blank here? It's been a long week but now it's just a guy who's been so proven in one Stanley Cups and if you look at Bar Cobb and who I mean that's ninety point guys now and those probably aren't going GonNa Change at all. They had tro check out for a long time. He's sick. I've been saying how long for how long this guy is how good he's been for a long time. I saw him in the HR. The story's been told a million sometimes he's a Gamer. He competes like an animal. Can score can set guys up. I mean I gave for Toronto a hard time with the Bruin. He's got no vision will. He got twenty four last year so he's not going to get you a ton of assessment with that shot. He's going to be able to score yandell on the back in sixty two points probably his best year at a pro. He told me a youth told me if he doesn't and get it. Doesn't anyone suck on that. Everyone and he told me feels great. I think he's going to do another. have another monster season what I really like about the moves there along with Quenneville is that ah they bring in three guys that don't jump out anyone put how good every team that they've been on have been Anton Straw Rahman when he's in New York they were great Ska- was great. The Guy can move. He's getting older but still that's a depth guy that can help defensively. He's not the same player that he was originally eh early in exactly Brett Conley Yeah. Oh yeah that guy was a high pick and it didn't work out at the beginning well now. He's turned into this third player and he kinda put up and down lineup and you could stick them on the third line. No He's pretty good defensively and he'll get you fifteen goals. If not more that's a big addition and then and the other one we talked about when the Bruins came up Chari so now they got that sandpaper and grit and Mackenzie Weigo's enough to worry about fighting them he just has to worry about getting prank by Foley so the team is is just up and coming and and then last year people said they could make the playoffs goaltending Longo. What a career he didn't have it anymore? I think that everyone was kind of aware watching him. He was battling through injuries as he was getting older while Bob Ross key is I said what Ki- said before the hardest work he's ever seen. One of the top goals in the league inconsistency has been somewhat of a factor but maybe he's out to approve that he is true true superstar number one after getting that deal. He's got the business to prove it and one more guy I want to mention is Henrik bork stream so this guy dominated dominated college hockey and last year he was up and down. I mean he ended up playing fifty games. Eighteen points put this is someone that if you talk to people within Florida's always GM oh they ah they're planning on this guy being sixty point. I I'm not saying no not that good not necessarily saying sixty points this year. They're saying he's going to turn into a dominant thirty thirty. Goal Scorer second-line player believed that Matheson Skates like the wind you saw the big deal. He got people were surprised and said he's a Fariq doesn't she doesn't drink rank and he lifts weights for breakfast lunch and dinner. That's all he does with his life where you fucking covered it all I know because I'm fired up for this team and I just think that even if they had add all these pieces and Borowski the addition there you'd still think of like iron all the panthers. It's such a battle. The fans aren't there but Quenneville. Ra You said it's making making an impact with a coach like that Fox trots can get the islanders into the plus. What is coined? We're GONNA do with the skill on this team and apparently he got in and saw Barkov just said Holy Shit. It's fun. It's going to be a fun season and I'm very excited and the one guy didn't mention. I'm sorry keep going. It's often because Hoffman you heard the issues Ottawa offer shit well. There's nothing going on down there beside him. Just sniping boys like to love this club and they are my fourth team from this division four in the metropolitan to make the play. I guess I'll chase it with with I agree. I think they're gonNA make playoffs. That's why didn't have Montreal in as I said you covered most of it they've added so many reasons why I believe either GonNa make the playoffs and you mentioned them the big signings but last year they dealt with some injuries and all they had a bad one with tro check yet Mississippi Picking Games and he's he's How would I compare them to on another team? He's kind of that kind of me ten. Does it all out there. He's kind of he similar like Qadri where he'll mix it up a little bed. He just adds that secondary scoring and he's just he's just a Gamer just finds a way to get it done so if they're able to avoid injury and another thing is they had a lot of third period live gave it up the lead the most in the third period last last year they struggled. They couldn't keep the puck other in that they couldn't get that big. Save and Input Broschi can provide that I think they could even be at the top of the top of that conference offense. That's how much of a swing team has had in momentum yet beige. I'll show you what you mentioned. He's a guy he really found his game in. DC You know he bounced around Tampa to Boston. He didn't do a lot day found his game there and now he's getting paid down in Florida me I think the goal is going to be a lot better to Quinn will factors there. I got the panthers back in the playoffs with this squad. Would you say I said I'm in a bid. What did you say Oh yeah? I got three three on Florida and next up boys with the old Buffalo Sabres at seventy six points last year new faces in town Jimmy Visi Markus Johannesson Call Mila they said Adios to Alexander knee land and this is a team that got out of the gate hot last year until I boy Grenell put the women and they sank like a stone secondary score and I think is going to be an issue for them this year in that they got caught a Hutton. Atlanta's presumably will both get a crack at number one Whitney would he got on the save is Buddy. All Chippewa Street BOFFA lows savers hockey's coming back and people are excited for good reason now. I'm going to be positive about the sabers right now and I'm GonNa give Sabres fans ends. Whoever else is listening reason to really believe deekor? Look d group great depth okay so you're going to look at a team with Dalian who dad rookie season guys that was sick very forty. Four points didn't miss a game. I mean that's an eighteen year old Daemon. Watch this year..

"Why don't you tell me what you tell you tell these guys what you tell me were riding in the car together to him and threw them right under the faucet search for Joey who had nothing to do with what did he have to say pipe up? He didn't say a word joy buried his head and he was such a good guy. I'd play with them. Did any of the big boys go up to the fun all right you fucking asshole aw I don't know but you know how those car rides are. We've all been there. You're writing to the rink with one of your teammates and you know you're just you're just shooting Shitty guys and all this guy bothers me because he whatever that's part of being on a team of course like Uber Ride in automatically but poor joey who wasn't even in on this thing got thrown under the bus so this day. I never forget the look on his face in the other J._R.. <hes> walt stories. You know what I mean. I I do have to say those guys. <hes> were were great. They were great teammates and different than you know J._R.. How do you not like J._R.? These I mean this guy has this guy has a heart genuinely bigger than anybody I've ever seen he will stop and talk and it's not all bad days no no bad days and and it's genuine I mean he's not doing it when there's a camera. He's doing it yeah when there's a camera for sure but he's also doing it when there's not he's just that type of guy played a lot of Golf J._R.. Over the years the his nickname was found it because no because somehow he'd hit the ball so far out into the desert and nobody would be able to see where it was but all of a sudden you'd hear him found it as the ball came flying out like four fairways over so nobody ever nudity really early find his bowl bears nickname was founded but he's a heck of a Golfer and and he did he he definitely doesn't need to cheat on the golf course to beat anybody but a little shady with the way he could find his Balsam. Money was involved especially the money was all all all you have to get jazz comments. Would you say that to his face and he would know his nickname's founded. That's so good any other any other things you WanNa talk about when you with your time with the coyotes when you're playing. Where did you not end ended up making an all star game? I actually plan to back to back and <hes> you know it's funny. I played in the All Star game in nineteen eighty nine and then I went fifteen years between all three games and played back. That's gotta be some sort of record yeah if they keep records for that kind of stuff. I mean you know at the end of the day I guess it shows the longevity of a career but I credit a lot of that the ban while Air I really do. I don't think that I at that stage in my career sure would have ever found my game <hes> and so to be able to play in the All Star Games you know when you play in the first year eighty eight or nine whatever it was you know that can happen. You can get on Iran. You can have a great year but then as you get older children to be able to play back to back and put good seasons together <hes> that's where I give a lot of credit to coming to Arizona and being able to revitalize my game. That's unbelievable career congratulations on that as I said in the intro eighteen seasons reasons to buddy thank you for your time and I'm imagining everyone's GonNa love the insight and we don't really get to talk to a lot of goalies. Although I'm going to try to get Curtis Joseph on here he'd be a good he'd be a good congress. He's very interesting Guy Curtis and <hes> he's had a great career all right. Thanks for having me. I really appreciate any time I thank you. Then interview was also brought to you by Roman swipes. Most guys have tried different ways to last longer they can about baseball thinking about how many goals Wayne Gretzky scored who won playoff m._v._p...

"And then in your for quite a while. He must have enough money put away that he doesn't have to work fulltime job and Curtis Joseph. They're were also gonna talk to you. It could still submit a lot of money. Plus, you know, he's got racehorses. So I'm the only schmuck dead. They were talking to you. That's at the really go out and find a nine to five job. And really what I did. It's a big step, and you know, the game a hockey it gave me enough confidence that I knew I could survive in the real world. And what I did is I was prepared to go back to school because I didn't want to be the type of father. That's laid off every second or third year said Inada apple to my kids. Now. I mean, if that happens to you, it's unfortunate, but I was going to try to prevent something. That kind of scenario happening to me. So you couldn't find a good job. Then I was buried as I said go back to school. What I did is a road on the piece of paper five occupations that I would like to do and not whether I had the skills to do it. But I figure if you gotta do nine to five for thirty or forty years, you better do something that you like to do. And if you get into a field that you like our it's you're going to catch on pretty quick. And if you'd like to do it, and you're catching on pretty quick I guarantee you going to be doing a good job. And when you do a good job year in and year out the money will follow. So for myself. I wrote down five things I don't even remember what for that were. But the first one I wrote out was the work abusers wasn't too. Sure, you know would direction I was going to go there. But but anew, this is something I'd like to explore and I would always I love talking to the fans and there was one gentleman. His name is. Bob art, Bob was a big wheel within CitiBank out at New York City, and I've talked to Bob and ease ranger fanatic. And he also said to me your Chris Commodore an end of you thought about what you'd like to do. Got into discussion with Bob, and I spent some time, and he said, you know, what you'd be good at this, computer consulting. And basically what I will do is find people jobs, permanent jobs within the computer software side were, you know, programming or who grammar analyst or analysts sawn or get him consulting work. And so what they did is a member I did go. The Rangers said I thought well, maybe if I could get a hold of the season ticket list of some of the fortune five hundred companies may be got a better chance of finding the job, you know, just going to corporations that had season tickets for the Rangers. I asked Craig Patrick if I could get listed. He said, no way. So there was no help from him. So what I did is. I just went into New York City with a resume that could together for the last ten years, and it was all fricken hockey. And I started knocking on doors and a lot of the jerk people. You know, they interviewed me, and they looked at my resume, and they said, well, this is all hockey. How are you going to help me? And basically, I said, well, I was hoping you could tell me I just knew that. I just needed to find one company that was so, you know, what you you you good being in sales with computer consulting. So I found one company, and they started to train me I got into recruiting soy interviewed people. And with you ever saw computer consultants resume it's like Chinese which I can't read it was like holy cow. What am I looking at? So it was a big transition. And I've honest in God looked at over five six thousand resumes without a question. So. You know, you just take step one..

"Show love your insight into the Pierre McGuire situation yesterday just wondering if you had any perspective on the career of Marty Turco looking at his early two thousand stats they were amazing then dropped post lockout thoughts. Well. Yeah. That's it. I mean, Marty Turco was a great goaltender for a very brief period of time. And he wasn't able to sustain it post lockout. But there were times I had him among the best goaltenders league. Great personality. Great for the sport. But sustainability certainly wasn't there compared to his peers compared to the the lung quiz in the bro doors and the like where his numbers could be very comparable even Curtis Joseph or an Eddie bell for. We just had a little bit more consistency in their careers. Dan, says some good news Columbus Tampa coming out real flat with losses in their first game back. Islanders back tonight against Tampa coming off a bad loss after their break will be a huge advantage for aisles if they can come out strong while team that they're chasing them struggle. Yeah. But they could also struggle to having not played for a while. And I have a feeling that Tampa is going to snap out of what the the Malays there in against Pittsburgh. But as far as what I found if you look at just the recent history, I thought the Rangers were a distinct disadvantage early in their game against Philadelphia back on Tuesday because Philadelphia played the day before both are coming off of the long break. But Philadelphia playing the night before seemed to give them an advantage in the first period that got the early lead may held on. So I think the islanders will be sluggish in the first period, if they can survive it, they'll get their legs in the hang. But I think Tampa will be at an advantage. Because of the fact that they played not a disadvantage because they lost forever h says the. Don't make a deep run this season. When will the pressure turn to Babcock? He's only made it out of the first round once since twenty ten while you made a change at general manager, or at least the guy that was making the decisions there. What Lou being gone? It would have to be on the table night thing. Mike that cock is one of the best coaches in the league he's won a Stanley Cup. He's won a gold medal. He took the ducks to a Stanley Cup final. When nobody thought that team was any good. So I think sometimes you make changes just for change's sake. It's tough. It'll see how they go out. Let's see how they play out the rest of the season if they're one in done again that's going to be a disappointment. And the thing that would scare me about Toronto is right now they'd match up with Boston in Boston has had their number. So I think that could be a bit of a problem. Tom says done how about a top five names that you had the most trouble during a game. I'll throw some suggestions out Yuki Horo authentic. See you Goss, despair pool, the RV Shepiyev also the hands down winner of saying his whole name is John Scott, very good point, John. You can't just say sky. You gotta say, John, Scott. I'd have to think about Tom you sent the tweet out a while ago. I should read it beforehand names that I really struggled with. Yeah. Gaza spare when he first came up, but that now flows. It's interesting when I first came into this business, and I started working at sports phone. I struggled with. Who is the tennis player? I got to think about it now because I'm kind of fetching out. There was a struggle with..

"Now, the big cleanse for him with two thousand eleven certainly when the Boston Bruins one and all of a sudden you can laugh about what happened in that series against Tampa. But that's always going to be for him. You know, one of those what if what if I had? Didn't one in two thousand eleven would that be the one thing that always hang my hat on. I came that close. And whether it's Joel Thornton may have this his entire life. All he's had a lot of success in his career. I got that close. But we couldn't close the deal is that something that hangs onto AB for the rest of your life. Tell you a story as you know, when I worked at the CBC was the host of the CFL CVC panel. And there was one time we were talking about the Grey Cup and the two three guys I worked with Sean Millington who had at least one great covering and probably more Greg freyre who had at least one, and I think too and Khari Jones who didn't have any and once I introduced them. And I said, you know, there's Sean Millington is one there's great fares as one and I got caught. And I was like there's Hari Jones who hasn't. And I remember players rarely said anything to me about stuff. I sit on the air. But one player pulled me aside and said he was watching that game. And he thought that was BS he said to me, I don't know you that. Well, you generally come across a very decent guy. But I hated you watching that. And he said, you know, it's hard to win. And maybe Khari Jones was the quarterback and the quarterback the guy who makes the most money and gets the most attention, but ninety nine point nine percent of the time you lose. It's not one guy's fault. It's a whole teams folder other things happen. And that conversation always stuck with me. And obviously we rate people by how much they won. Because ultimately that is the name of the game. And there's some fairness of that. But that conversation as I've gotten older understand. There's a lot deeper meaning to a lot of things the view lose. Yes. Sometimes you're the fault of the reason that team loses. But a lot of the time. You know, there's things that happen that you either have no control over or you're just part of it. And I'm a lot more sensitive to that. I don't think for example. Do people think lasts Charles Barkley because he never went NBA title. I don't think that way anymore who's the NHL equivalent, you know, a guy who never one who would be a guy who played a longtime. Here's a perfect example. Do you think less of Curtis Joseph because you never wanna Stanley Cup she'll Perot on? I don't I think is as you get older, you realize his his career is really incredible. So that is something I do think about quite a bit. And I think as you get older to generally, you start to think that the winds don't necessarily mean what you think they mean, you see this a lot and fighters when the clan atop that mountain they finally went to championship and this and the dressing by themselves. There's almost an empty feeling that comes with it. Sure. The winning one thing is fantastic. And you join a certain fraternity. But I think that as you get older, you have sort of greater perspective, and Elliot, I know, it's cliche. But I think you realize that at the end of the game the Queen and the pon go back in the same box. That was Andrew farance NHL. Joining us on thirty thoughts the podcast. "Playing guys. And you know, to be honest, I was never a big, you know, growing up in Montreal playing in buffalo, the Toronto Maple Leafs were always say much. I had a hard time watching or cheering for, but since Austin has gotten there, it's one of the most fun team to watch and and because of him now I'm watching the the maple leaves a lot more often. Whenever I have the chance to catch got shows game just to watch employees. He's such a fun player to watch last one for me. Daniel. I remember you had how many boys did you have? I got three boys are any of them players. They all play hockey. My oldest plays at Alabama university, which it's a club team real, but yeah, so the, you know, it's the big university for football, right in the number one team in in US for college football. So he's they're playing and I believe it's. Curtis, Joseph son is on the team as well Taylor. I believe that that's his son, so they play together. They're having a blast. He loves it. My middle son is playing junior hockey in the US and the NHL. I could see him playing division one hockey possibly in the in the US eventually. And then we have one boy left at home was a senior in high school, and he plays midget hockey at this time. So let me get this straight. You're responsible for Austin Matthews and your son is playing with Curtis Joseph's kid. This must just all make you ill as a guy. It's definitely tough to have all those Toronto Maple Leafs routes, but I admit that they've been fun to watch and it's a great hockey team to to watch play their soul electrifying every single night. Last one from me, we thank you for your time, even so generous with it. I know you have a lot of Monday and things you can't wait to get back to give back to them in a second tonight. Elliott work in the national game and is the Ottawa Senators facing off against the Philadelphia Flyers. Wanna get your thoughts on to former housemates of yours at maybe we can use on the broadcast tonight to make us look smarts. Tell us about closure, ru and Sean Katrina. Well, they're, they're both fund guys. We vote had had them in our house living with with us. I think you know Clode when he moved in with us, he was more of a an uncle to the kids. He was a little older, like a little closer in age to me. So the relationship was more of an uncle kind of thing with the with the kids when Sean moved in, he was eighteen years old and the kids were thirteen fourteen and fifteen. I remember him being at the house playing video games with the with my kids, and I'd be downstairs having a glass of wine with his parents. So that's kinda. It was a different relationship, but I, it was fun. They were fun to to be around. They kept me young. They kept me younger when I was getting into my thirties to keep up with all the new generation of hockey players. Well, listen, you've been as much as you were a delight to watch play your delight to talk to as well. Best of luck with the the main. And best of luck with what happens. It was great to hear you're back in involved in hockey in some capacity because we are all real for it. Well, thank you very much. It's.
