"Schilling into the Hall of Fame. The votes had to be in before January 6th, and that's when a Seeds in our Temple of democracy happened, and Curt Schilling on Twitter endorsed it. Randy Galloway said he will not be voting for Curt Schilling next year. And as a matter of fact, hopes that he rots in all the fame helped his words, not ours with your foreign, balmy and Fitzsimmons here on ESPN Radio, Joe Here's Here's the question. Right now we're getting this on Twitter. You can always hit us at ESPN Radio. I'm at the IMF. It's ESPN. He's at Joe Underscore 14 ball. I get that right? Just straight up Joe Foreign ball that underscore it's a nice little bonus, but it's not needed. It's like a It's like the hook right there. The half point 3.5. We got to get the three. Buy it Now. There you go at your fortune ball. Off field verses on field. Now when you go as Randy said, Look by letter of the law, you know it is here in integrity clause. Yes, there is, obviously I mean, it's there are causes in And what it takes to get into Cooperstown. That same things on Twitter about politics is not one of them. Should it be just about what you did on the field? Or is it an all encompassing, including What your words mean what you say off the field? I would like it. If we could just focus on what the guys did on the field. That's ultimately what I would like. But when you put a clause like this in you are now opening up the voting and the decision making process, the things that are happening. Off the field, and you're asking people to weigh a lot of different factors that they might not necessarily be qualified to wait. Let's be honest. This isn't to knock the baseball voters. It's not to knock any voters. But we're human beings. Are you around these guys that much that you can not only make it call based on what you've seen on the field, but what they do in their personal lives? Hi. Rie. Irving is a great example here because Kyrie Irving takes so much heat. Sometimes deservedly so for some of the things, he says in some of the ways he acts but one of the things no one ever notices how much money he donates Hominy causes he contributes to how many people he has helped right in the eyes of many. Hi, Rie. Irving sometimes is viewed in a more negative like that he should be. But overall, the things he has done with his life with his money with his resource is with his time. He's done a lot of good, and if people don't see that they can't take it into account when they're dealing with these character clause is an issues. Ultimately, human beings are not rational, and we're asking them to be rational. With these votes. Guys like Curt Schilling have gotten everything. They've wanted their entire life. They're extremely talented. And because they have this skill, they make lots of money. They have access to you lost all that money. Yeah, they have access to just about everything they could possibly want. So when they have people telling them no, like the Hall of Fame, voters air telling them right now, they don't handle it. Well. Shilling hasn't followed the golden rule. He hasn't even tried to play politics with this whole thing. So now he's upset. I can understand why he's upset. He's going about it poorly, but ultimately let's either making uniforms. Let's make it about what happens on the field. And eliminate these clauses. Or if you're gonna have these closes in there, you're just gonna open yourself up to too much of a gray area. In my opinion, Ethan He's still for involving what? I'm too busy looking at Buffy the vampire stuff very very. I was waiting on a buzzer to be hit. We are we wagering on something. We We've only had one so far to see 100 Golden State. Which, right now you're the hunt. You're looking good. Don't ask. I'm sweating that I'm looking at random college stuff. I got this. I am db up for Buffy the Vampire Slayer for some random reason. What if I told There's a like a side bet thing I got going on because me and another guy were arguing over something that somehow spiraled down a rabbit hole, and it led to the name of a character in a TV show slasher movie. It's a complete mess. Super Bowl, prop it. I don't know where the amount of the amount of bets Joe Fortune Bob gives out tonight. Or turnovers in the Super Bowl. Mm turnovers in the Super Bowl because I've only given out one and I don't know if we're gonna get another one in there. Still an hour and a half left. So I mean, we're gonna have time wager coming up at some point. We have any soccer and whose Pakistan or anything going second half hours on the state is Loki. He's got you here. Take a look. We'll see. I'll say this. Lawrence Taylor is in can write and Lawrence Taylor Snorted a goal line right and did it some other awful things in hotel rooms, right? But man What he did on the field was second to none and at his position. But I do believe character does Weigh in. But what you say politically. No. Maybe it's the times we're living in right now. Because a part of me wants to side with Galloway not the rot in hell Part but Just you know, what will you say does carry a ton of weight and right now what He what Curt Schilling said. It's going to keep him out of Cooperstown. But Joe Foreign, balmy and Fitz Simmons here on ESPN radio coming up next Bill Barnwell let you know what it's gonna take to get to Shawn Watson to your team on ESPN radio? No, The question is, How far is too Shawn Watson willing to take his if he has four issues with ownership that might not be repairable. When.

Remembering Atlanta Braves legend and longtime MLB home run king Hank Aaron

"It was a sad day in baseball last week. When hank aaron passed away at age eighty six. One of the all time greats sluggers in baseball history. He wasn't amazing player. An amazing person. And when you think about hank. Aaron and his impact on a game it was tremendous. Think about this hank. Aaron played in the negro leagues hank. Aaron came up to the big leagues and was a star from day one. And when you look at his body of work. It is an incredible incredible degree of consistency. When you think that hank aaron batted three oh five. Seven hundred and fifty five home runs almost averaged hundred. Rbi is twenty three seasons and think about this. If you took away as seven hundred and fifty five home runs from his hit total he still would have three thousand hits. Which by itself get you into the hall of fame so not only does he have three thousand hits. He has a five hundred home. More than five hundred home runs. Those two are markers for me that automatically get my vote and then when you think about what he had to go through to become the homerun champ and the hey and the threats and the racism that was pointed towards him. Think about that People saying that they were going to shoot him. Kill his kids and this guy never never came undone never lashed out at people never got angry. Just kept playing ball kept his head down. He is definitely someone you can admire. And then he did weeks that milestone passing babe ruth and what a monumental moment that was when hank aaron became the all time home run king and i know people some people say he's still my home run king and is not barry bonds and i don't really wanna get into the whole debate about this. This is about hank. Aaron and what he did. I respect what hank aaron put up his numbers he put up but in the record books he's number two and that's where he is and that's what i respect and there's nothing wrong with being number two when when you put up the body of work that hank aaron has done he will be missed. What an impact. He's had and the grace and the dignity everything he play with and he was a world series champion and he was a steady as a as a as a get. Never hit fifty home runs. How can a guy play twenty years. Hit all those home runs and never had those big years over fifty. It's it's an amazing amazing accomplishment. And hank aaron will definitely be missed

No one elected to Baseball Hall of Fame; Curt Schilling requests removal from writers' ballot

"Last night's voting curt schilling had the highest vote. Counts seventy one point one percent but that of course is short of the seventy five percent needed to get in After the voting results were announced curt schilling released a facebook. Post that he'd sent to the hall of fame basically asking that he be taken off the ballot next year in his last year eligibility. I'm paraphrasing air. We basically was indicating that he doesn't make the writers he doesn't want to be judged by the writers. He'd rather be judged by veterans committee which is comprised mostly of his peers Barry bonds get sixty one point. Eight percent roger clements sixty one point six percent. They have basically not moved in any of the Any of the voting in recent years voting percentages By the way about schilling's post hall of fame board chairman jane forbes clark said a statement that the board will consider the request at our next meeting

"Happy that Curt Schilling I did not get picked to be put into the Hall of Fame and from what I read. He's taking his ball and he's going home. He's saying Don't waste my time anymore. Don't even Consider me and also on that list that didn't get picked. Was it Roger Clemens? Danny and Steve. Gentlemen, um Well, by the way for those who don't know her chilling was wooed to Rhode Island to create some video game. Platform and company and, uh, they gave me an awful lot of money and the company failed the money. Money never went back. So, Danny Curt Schilling saying I'm taking my ball and I'm going home. Did you hear that? Yeah. No, That's exactly what he see. Posted yesterday on social media that the fact now that Hey, has not made it into the Hall of Fame this year. Hey, just no longer want to be on the ballot. In a way. I don't think he's a Hall of Famer. But for the reason he's not getting votes I don't necessarily agree with either. Because of his policy. Basically, it all comes down to his politics in some of the things he's had to say across social media and online since hey has left the game of baseball, which, you know, I think the writers of America should be able to separate on the field versus off the field. Okay, Steve on the field. I remember a very svelte Roger Clemens and then all of a sudden this Late in his career. This really Jack Roger Clemens. Mm as he aged Could that be the problem with Roger Clemens? Well, that's the better be otherwise. There's absolutely no excuse. And you could argue that the steroid era was actually the last time baseball was entertaining and borderline relevant. So you know again. I saw yesterday Barry Bonds didn't get in, and I couldn't stand Barry Bonds when he played, But when you get it when you are so good that they're intentionally walking you with the bases loaded. You are a Hall of Famer. I ate like So I mean again outside of Pedro Martinez, who was a physical freak. Uh, that entire era is a big storm cloud and either wiped them all off the ballot or put the guys like Bonds and Clemens in But this nonsense Eyes is getting a little ridiculous, and it's just making the sport look Uh, much to its reputation, which is pretentious, but not only that, but for a sport that has had a rapid decline in viewers and attention. And whatever else you would think that something like this that could draw eyes in a good way per se to baseball would be a positive thing. Where today they're basically just The laughing stock of sports again this morning. Why didn't they just ever come up with the Ask Derek. You know that, Okay? It was during the it was during the steroid era. There's a little dot next to you that so you see, like Oh, Barry Bonds? Yeah, He's a hall of Famer. You look what's that say they're you know when people go in visit? In Cooperstown. They What's that? Oh, it says he was part of the steroid era. Okay, um And as far as the press and in sports, well, professional sports himself. I think this is all part of the woke baloney, too, especially with Schilling. This is all part of the woke stuff. Oh, yeah. He was a trump supporter. We can't have him. Just well, I mean again. Let's right. Let's go back to 1920. Whatever and Shoeless Joe, whoever who's the Hall of Famer and let's find out who he voted for, right. Is that what was that the next step? No. Think about all the people who have think about all the people who are the opposite of Schilling, who have been really really nice things, but they hit 1 80 batted ninth and couldn't get on base. Should they get in? Because they were nice guys like is that the game? We're gonna play it so stupid. These baseball writers air so pretentious. And I think the only thing that we can really do to help save baseball is give everybody who has a ballot. A swirly Yeah. It's pretty good. Um well, all this one for me. You know when, when you know the whole question about O J. You know, in the Hall of Fame and all that, Okay, That's a legitimate question. Obviously, the question about Pete Rose. Was legitimate because it was actually betting on baseball. You know, OJ's was murder allegedly and and, you know, Pete Rose. It was well. He was betting on the game while he was in the game. Those I can see. But these guys also do something. There are players who haven't per se tested positive that have just had their name associated with steroids. I haven't but I could see if you had a positive test. You maybe not like being allowed to get in. But guys that is just associated with or played during that error haven't been able to get in either. So what do you have to do now? To get in B b a good player, do some amazing things and be a Social Justice Warrior. No, you did not get there in the late nineties early 2000, then you'll have a chance. Needed in what you have to come out. No, The only way to do it is to be a mediocre player for 25 years and just never leave the league like Craig Biggio and Tim Raines and all these other average players who the only reason they're in is because they played for 30 years. It seems to be the only way you get in. Yeah, but playing for 30 years video is a great player, but that guy's not all Yeah. Hey, you know who's the Hall of Famer? Tom Bevacqua. He's one of the most experienced weather forecasters in New England, and now he's right here. Jim Toledo shows chief meteorologist Tom Bevacqua. But Tommy was on.

Curt Schilling Appears to have turned off a lot of the voters because of his vociferous conservative views on Twitter. Well, that's what he would say. That's what I've I've had him on. Well, I just want to tell you this and get your reaction. Kirk chilling, recently voiced support for the perpetrators of the attempted insurrection. At the U. S capitol. Now that was after the deadline for voters the baseball writers to submit their ballots, but at least one voter petition the Hall of Fame to alter their ballot retroactively to a no vote. For Curt Schilling, the writer was turned down. But that shows you that he is not winning fans among many of the baseball writers. Cleveland Indians Ace Shane Bieber Developing Into One of the Top Starters in MLB

"Talk about Shane Bieber who last night another great start and it was looking at his numbers this morning. Mad. He's faced one hundred, fifty batters in those he struck out sixty five, he's allowed five runs the whole year four those on home runs runners in scoring position forty, one innings or forty and two thirds innings pitched and only been ten situations in which a batter came up with a runner scoring position, and they're all for ten when we were lucky enough. To have him on a Sunday night, broadcast a couple of weeks ago and they're not many times would do in a broadcast and you're watching pitchers stuff and it's kind of taking your breath away. But that start watching his cut fastball particular it's curb all good Lord I don't know that anybody hits him. Yeah, and you know I mean I I you had the same kind of Breathlessness when you watch him as is when you watch a handful of other guys in the League. Like Derek Cole. I don't know if you saw Casey. Anything Casey mize's debut the other night. Yeah. Man. There were flashes in there where you might goodness split finger, fastball moves screwball. And boy those guys are fun to watch the way. They can manipulate the ball and I'll use a pitching coach term, shape their pitches. By the way I don't ever remember hearing people talking about shaping pitches before rap Soto, and some of the baseball factories that exists around the country now, Yemen. Bieber is fun to watch and when he first came up I, I don't know that any of us took him seriously as an ace in wait he had terrific minor league numbers maybe we should've taken him that seriously had always been a huge kind of strikeout-to-walk ratio guy. Those numbers were always really great in line with the guy that could play in the big league level. But it it maybe it's because he came from from UCSB and it's a very small intimate list of major league players to come from the University of California Santa Barbara. Not a lot of gauchos out there I mean just top of mind and a crisper went. To UCSB, Quinn Mack ucsb Guy Ryan spill boards. UCSB. Guy But it's a small list, right? So. Steve Bannon's arrest has tertiary ties to video games

"Former thirty eight studios CEO curt. Schilling was involved in the build a wall pack. The thing that just led to former Donald Trump advisor, steve bannon getting arrested. This is just a weird tangentially related to video games news story that is just so strange and it also kind of goes to show that if curt schilling is involved in a company, that's probably a good reason to not invest any money. So for the. Non Video game side of the story former President Donald Trump advisor Steve Bannon was arrested this morning for issues related to a crowdfunding campaign. He was involved with that was raising money to build a wall between Mexico and the United States of America. The campaign raised over twenty, five million dollars, but apparently, the money was being used for personal gain Audrey Strauss the acting us attorney for the southern district of New York said. The. Defendants defrauded hundreds of thousands of donors capitalizing on their interest and funding a border wall to raise millions of dollars under the false pretense that all of the money would be spent on construction while repeatedly assuring donors that Brian Cole fade the founder and public face of the We build the wall would not be paid a cent. The defendants secretly schemed to pass hundreds of thousands of dollars to coalfields, which he used to fund his lavish lifestyle. That quote comes from NPR story. Linked in the show notes. So that's the main part of it but the tangentially related video games side of it comes from Edward Isaac Dove Air From the Atlantic on twitter who wrote Crisco Bosch is the General Counsel of the build the wall pack that Steve Bannon was just arrested for being involved in as chairman. The advisory board includes Eric Prince Former Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo Sheriff David Clarke and former pitcher curt schilling curt schilling is predominantly known for being a pitcher in the MLB. I will always know him as the CEO of thirty eight studios, the developer that created kingdoms of Amour with investment funds from the State of Rhode Island, which he neglected to return when required, which ultimately doomed the developer and the kingdoms of Ahmir franchise though then might be making comeback soon, there's a, there's a remake rerelease on the way. It's really gross that money was being raised to build a wall which as near as I can tell is thankfully nowhere near fruition and it's totally unsurprising that it is all collapsing under the weight of its founders deciding to just try and keep the money for themselves. "With MetroPCS. Curt Schilling Gary thirty eight on Twitter. You said we discussed your favorite congressman, Adam Schiff. Let's go back. Let's go back to that question that story. Let's listen to what Rush Limbaugh had to tell Sean Hannity last night with regards to the whole collusion. Delusion Cup five. I have to clarify. It is not over. It is still happening the democrat party and the media and all of these people from the Obama administration Iran this scandal are still running the objective remains to get Donald Trump out of office. Either my driving his numbers down or impeaching him or defeating him in twenty twenty you agree with rush than I'm going to give up this still going to drive out. Oh god. No. But Mike, my only concern is already stepped over the legal lines. They don't care about the law. The constitution. How much further can they go much farther willy go? We saw with the cavenaugh hearings. Didn't we? There is no limit. Doing a New York they've subpoena to of Donald Trump's banks for his private banking records right now. And it says, well, I honestly believe that we're a lot closer to a confrontation between liberals and conservatives in this country, physical confrontation than I think other people might believe I'm not saying that happily because I don't know how much is what I said this before if you continue to play this out if you go forward and think about how this plays out there there there is no. There is no reasonable solutions other than look what should happen. What you saying? They should all be given the government funded plane tickets to fly live somewhere else. Yes. Not with Venezuela. Check out real socialism. But look at my good friend. Chris blonde has a morning show in DC amazing show. He's been talking about this for a long time, the propensity for civil war between left, and right grows and grows because one side the left has normalized violence, if you look at if you look at what's going on in the protest, the bike lock attacks and everything else you look at James Hodgkinson. The Bernie volunteer who went to that baseball diamond Nathan my studio to kill those Republican congressman almost getting Steve Scalise. So there is an escalation on one side. But at the end of the day. Could. They don't know what they're getting involved in if right now, here's the even better part of this. If you think about what both sides would be fighting for I don't know what it is this week. I know is transgender bathrooms. Black lives matter. I go through about four hundred different topics that they read the world's gonna end for. I would argue that since seventeen seventy six the right has been fighting for the same thing. Never changed. Wow. I don't care what you know. Why do we have to play identity politics? Why do I care that one of the democratic candidates is not just the mayor, but he's a game air? Right. But here's and so I keep thinking the violence in the leftist cowardice not violence because they wear masks, and they throw chairs at at school windows, and you start to see one seeks physical confrontations. But I tell and we talked about this before. The legally armed citizens in this country. I would argue probably ninety percent of them are conservatives and. Violent. A violent situation in a in a in a crowd. Somebody's gotta get killed by with a legal defense someone concealed carry. And the left is going to basically announced us as the as the side of extremes. Try applying come off to those legally citizens, right? Sure. They already are. Deerfield illinois. They passed a like and he got shot down. But they passed a law that was allowing their law enforcement officials to enter homes without a no not, but people that were deemed dangerous insecure their firearms because of an Obama era rule that said if if you're not finding if you're a veteran, and you're not financially independent risk, which which basically boiled down to the fact that if you're incapable of of filling out a tax return, you were deemed a threat and should be disarmed. But this isn't a joke, ladies and gentlemen to come in your house, right unseen. No ward and take your firearms. Think about that. Think about that happening. That's the thing. We're talking about things that we're worried about. We're also talking about things they're happening. Right. It's just not to make believe this. And you know, what the left does all you conspiracy. Theorist you guys boss. Right. Right. The vast right wing conspiracy that even AOC's complaining of look you hit something incredibly important in your last comments. This side always because there is no North Pole for them. Their side always has to find something new to find four because there is no truth for them for us for patriots of conservative. It's always been the same thing since seventeen seventy six with one exception. We can understand what they're fighting for. Let's listen to colder. The former attorney general the only attorney general to be held in contempt by the congress. Listen to what he just said on MSNBC Cup three. But I hear these things. Well, let's make America great again myself. Who will exactly when did you think America was great? It certainly wasn't. When people win slave certainly wasn't when. Women didn't have the right to vote is certainly wasn't when he LGBT community was denied the rights to which was entitled that phrase echo is discrimination in your ears. He takes us back to. I think an American pass that never in fact, really existed looking back make America great again inconsistent. With who we are as Americans that our best where we look at the uncertain future embrace it and make it our own. So there is one thing that never changes for them. Cut schilling that the common denominator is they hate America. But they aired color just told you why how the succeeding they're treating crisis. Where there isn't. I I don't know. I think in nineteen forty five I thought we were pretty great. I don't know. Maybe. Nineteen eighty nine hundred ninety I thought we were pretty great after the civil war. When we passed the amendment to the constitution that allowed everybody to have equal rights, except for the fact that the Democrats created the KKK to terrorize Republicans and south driving them, no us, and the other thing is I do remember all of the commentary in the gay community. When Trump was elected, they were terrified, take our rights. Coming after us is coming after us. There has never been a more gay friendly president in the White House. Rick. Rick Grenell is a friend of mine openly, gay marriage too. The president's ambassador to Berlin shows in by Donald Trump. It's just mind boggling truly mind boggling. That's the they they have a millions of what I call shape following them around and not not that checking anything. So what they're being. The left doesn't have a crisis to give the people the less becomes useless. Useless anyway. But again, they put themselves at the. And if you need us to help fight for you when they're the most corrupt. America hating just ridiculous. I think you just described the the politicians in Chicago that we're gonna talk about Jesse small lead in the next segment. You listening to schilling. If I have a feeling a little bit like, I'm flagging. Gee, if I need a triple cappuccino, a triple Espresso..

"And if you have Alexa, or Google just say play a WFAN and you'll be locked in to the fan. So jeeter, you know, next year will be the sure fire walk to get into the hall fan. The question is going to be not at Messina's in. Now. They're good Martinez is in we're going to be the guys that can make that jump. If you're not looking at the steroid guys. And I would be continuing to. Trump the candidacy of bonds and Clemens I'll continue to do. So until they're off the ballot. The two guys that I think can make the jump to get in the obvious one being Curt Schilling who's close then I'm looking at Larry Walker who made major progress on a ballot this year. Don't be surprised if Larry Walker next year gets himself into the hall of fame. Let's set the Pelham bay John is up next on a foul is up. Yeah. Iraq, big JJ that ninety five Seattle team had had junior junior J viewed it double MARTINI, and you also had the big unit day junior junior Jose in Kenny and big unit. Randy Johnson, double MARTINI. Egger in the mandate. Play first base for the Yankees hit the big forty home runs. Listen also holiday had like twenty shutouts in his career, narrowing nobody even complete a game to you. Also have the perfect game. And you don't stop about fever. I love that the definition of unanimous magnanimous. Could have been unanimous. Several guys didn't even fill out their fouls in protest of people being banned from baseball a lot of reporters, but both roses very friendly for them. Opposite ends of the spectrum. You have Barry Bonds, you personally, Haiti by a lot of the forty now they're playing with all the things they get. But you call. It's payback time, but you got to really look at certain things DiMaggio nine championships in thirteen years. I can't bowling, you know, something like that. A cop had a high percentage of the vote then the bay debate the guy supposedly, I don't repeat this stuff. But they said about top with the ball. I said he was a jerk John s tie. Cobb was jerk tight. Cobb was big Takab was also an all world pallet. I mean, this is documented this is stated this is not me. I knew tie Cobb, obviously before my time. But you do any research, you do any hallmark. That's as clear as day. Take up a lot of people off who's an all world town belong hall of fame on the first ballot should have been unanimous roofs, should've been unanimous Griffey should have been unanimous. It's about time. Somebody finally got that honor names, Mariana Rivera. Let's say to shut in Connecticut. Brian up next on a foul. It's up Brian. Hey, john. What's up, buddy? Hi, brian. What's going on? Let's and I gotta tell you right now. Of all people, and I know your friends fan, and I've been a lifelong fan of you you you make the radio extra special. I'm just telling you right now. I appreciate that. Brian is very kind. Thank you. And at the same time. Number forty two. This guy is the only one that could have ever been inducted unanimously and the hall of fame went that honor. I mean, it's beautiful. It's beautiful to say number one. Okay. There you go. I didn't know where Bryant was going. But it's a beautiful thing to see is a first ballot hall, Greg. I agree unanimous off emigrate my biggest complaint from today. Curt Schilling should be in the hall fan. What do you like Kirchner not Curt Schilling should be in the hall fan? Mike Mussina fifty fifty case you compare Mike Mussina, Curt Schilling Curcio was better but said to Stafford tau MAC God up next on fan, Mattie boy body body. I I completely agree with you on Curt Schilling right there, which let's be honest with killing his politics kept him out of the hall of fame along with a guy. Now, this is this is what you should have a vote to the hall of fame you in a bunch of other folks in radio and television because I heard I heard a writer who doesn't wash his hands complaining about voting for the hall of fame. This is one of the great days that allows some great players to get into a hawk. That's very special. Cooperstown. It's phenomenal. It is phenomenal. It's just tell us about it and fliegelman ticked off because he wants Barry Bonds in a whole family wants Roger Clemens in. And I get that. Matt listen, I've been making that argument over and over again that these guys belong that you can't tell the story of baseball over the last thirty years without them. But I was trying to convince my cut how great it is, Mike. Listen, you got a beautiful lakeside town. You got these great old school baseball shops. They're selling all sorts of merchandise. You get all these old players up there. I haven't been up there. Matt since I was like fifteen sixteen years old that is on the bucket list for me over the next four to five years. I gotta get my ass up to Cooperstown. Because it's a great great time. It's phenomenal. I got too far from the ponies Saratoga is not too far away. Watch MGM the Hudson, hopefully, run run this year. So that's some good stuff going up there. And look I think a bonding climbing they're eventually going to get in. It's gonna take a while. And I know, and I'll say this, you know, people always talk about the call up any time hall of fame year after year those straw. Pete Rose's name, let's be honest with p peach never had an opportunity to get in. They told him, you know, look, you can't manage you can't do this. And at the same time. He doesn't want to get it because it destroys his brand. He can't go up to Cooperstown. Go five doors down. And so what aggressor five hundred bucks? That's a really good point that the Pete Rose image. You know that day would mean a lot to him. But like the image the persona of doing his thing. Like, you just said four or five doors down the line that does matter for him that he like relishes, and you're absolutely right about rose book. We all know rose is a hall of Famer rose could have been in the hall of fame. He chose basically to spit in baseball. As he didn't agree to a deal. He never would acknowledge the fact that he bet on baseball. He would never acknowledge that he would be removed as a manager as a coach that he'd always tempt them. If you let me back I'm going to go manage again, I'm going to go coach again. And that I can't blame baseball. They weren't going to have that day presented a deal. He didn't want to take it. So he doesn't wanna take. What do you want him to do? Exactly. And I'm gonna say this about this this hall of fame class. You got mobile is the greatest closer of all time. And maybe one of the best pictures I've ever seen along with doc who, you know, the last picture we'll basically who through who threw complete games. I mean, I think that's that has to be taken aside. No question brew, complete games. Matt. And dig about this perfect game. When all lifetime. We didn't see Larson Bruin no hitter in the postseason game. He he, you know, it's going to be very emotional to see his family up there. Except is is induction. And then, you know, look Edgar Edgar Edgar an Eddie. You know, even even though it's the veteran's committee. Edgar inhere Baynes going into the hall of fame, you know, basically beans pretty much the end. She's going to show. You mad. Baseball's common around to the idea of acknowledging and not penalizing the DHA. Look, I don't think Harold Baines belongs defended that they put Harold Baines and good player. Some plays down a hall of Famer. I'm sorry to numbers don't back up Harold Baines being in Martinez on the other hand. No was it dominant force. And again, when you tell the story of baseball over the last twenty five to thirty years, he's one of the more imposing offensive forces. This sport had I mean, all you need to know mad about Edgar the guy to five seventy batting average against Mariano Rivera now said there. I just hope for next year. You know, I'm hoping that the veterans committee, and I just wanna see the bubble. Get knocked I wanna see George Don Wynn and hopefully next year schilling. So listen, you know, that's coming mad. Outstanding phone calls. Always brother. You have a wonderful evening choice. Taverna belongs in the hall of fame. I totally agree with that a lot of names have been brought up through the veterans committee over the years Steinbrenner's, what are the names. I mean again talking about telling the story baseball. Did he do that without George and chill is going to get it chilling should be it over Mike Mussina? They're both. Getting schilling has better numbers the way, I see it had more dominant years and then the eye test, and what you saw in postseason after postseason half, the postseason schilling in Philadelphia. Arizona Boston dominating Baltasar Elmont off next on the fan. What's up? Czar? I'm John good. This good to talk to you again. Yes. Are what's happening, brother? Hey. Okay. So I just wanna make a quick statement. Both Steve summers and Tony page. You're right. And I gotta agree. Well, they fought to man, listen, that's very very kind those two guys two gentlemen. First class kind of guys. Listen, I should hide them. Maybe to represent me, you never know Baltasar, and they want Tony and Steve going into negotiating my next contract. You know, listen Stanford, Tony they know what they're doing. They've been doing management for a loss. So who knows maybe I'll bring them into the next negotiation. We'll see it's true now humble guys. Like you. You know, they're very likeable, man. I'm so I wanted to talk about was I wanted to talk about my when I heard that when I heard my machine was cut getting in. I'm most I was the guy. I mean, I was like holy cow. I mean all over like you said over coach Schillinger Roger Clemens. Messina was rewarded for pitching the steroid era, you combine that Baltasar with pitching in the American League east, and I can't look past. The fact that Messina was a model of consistency. He absolutely was a model of consistency. But when I think of dominant pitchers of his era. I'll have on that list. A statistical argument that could be made for Mike Mussina. I'd argue against it. I'm not screaming bloody murder. He's in the hall of fame. I don't think it's a travesties in the hall of fame. Just won't be my whole fan. Eight should not be an over Shelley. One game to win one season. You could have either one of those guys on your team. What are you like schilling or not? I know he's tough to take for some of you can't tell me you'd rather have schilling on your team or you'd rather have machine on your team shelling candle fifty five here on this early Wednesday JJ after dark jazzy Stansky Jimmy Kennedy right here on the fan. "Mariano Rivera dominated hitters throughout his baseball career and fittingly he dominated the vote the greatest closer in the history of the game a hall of Famer elected by unanimous vote. The first unanimously selected player to ever get into the hall of fame Rivera, one of four new members to be enshrined this July. And one of the other four is also a former Yankee Mike Mussina hall of Famer going along with the LeRoy holiday and Edgar Martinez. But Rivera the headliner humble as a player humble discussing this his greatest honor. The Lord bless me with amazing group of players in amazing group of coaches managers that I will never forget, you know. As long as I live in. Was blessing that I ended up with Greg guys at audio courtesy of the MLB network Rivera pitch for nineteen seasons with the Yankees six hundred fifty to save by far the most ever saved an additional forty two games in the postseason has five World Series rings Messina was a two hundred seventy game winner with the Yankees. "Well, that's what we get for living here. But we were talking about this the big day kind. It's a big day in sports and crossover sports. What I mean by crossover story is Kurt schilling story is kind of a crossover with Trump because of course, Curt Schilling is up for hall of fame status. Another vote is going to be held today. Inducting people until hall of fame, and schilling is one of those whose close who has been close before but hasn't gotten in. And you believe that it's because of his ties to Trump that have kept them out so far even before that just is politics, obviously. Sixty -servative. So a lot of folks that cover baseball would be more liberal, and maybe they just don't like shillings politics, or in the case, even me, I just don't really like his tone. I mean, I'm all for athletes having opinions on politics, whether it's left right center. But with schilling it seems to be a bit over the top. And that may turn some people off. I think he belongs in the hall of fame is a borderline candidate. A Mario Rivera is going to sail through. I mean, he will no one's ever been a unanimous choice and never going to be. But I think Mariana there is a clear cut first ballot hall of Famer which he will be later on today. I think it's the other pitcher gets in who named escaping who died. What's his name halladay holiday, then schilling should get? They were pretty similar the only difference Halliday won two Cy Young awards. Yeah. Schilling never wanna say young award. But the problem was he was pitching in the National League. When Randy Johnson was pitching nationally. They were teammates. And that's why they want World Series together in two thousand and one shilling gets elevated because of his postseason preference, right, which can help you. It doesn't necessarily hurt you. If you don't have a great postseason record. So I think he belongs to be in there. I think might be seen as another pitcher who was kind of a contemporary at curt schilling's that may get in as well. I think it's going to be Rivera without question. I would say Halliday and Edgar Martinez the designated hitter who's in his last year of eligibility. He probably gets in as well. And then in schilling Messina more likely than schilling. And then the two best players on the ballot. I've ever seen. And I'm fifty five years old best pitcher Roger Clemens best everyday player. Barry Bonds, they're up in their sixth year, and of course, because they were somewhat tied into or we're tied into steroids. A lot of the voters leave them off their training in the right direction. They don't get initiate. It'll be over the next couple of years because they belong in the hall of fame, and of course, Trump injected himself into this. This yesterday. Tweeting quote, Curt Schilling deserves to be in the baseball hall of fame. Great record, especially when under pressure, and when it mattered most do what everyone in baseball knows is right. Exclamation point. No capital letters, and I'll tweet now an no misspellings, either shows actually sentences made sense. That's good. Maybe check it before without at. And look I mean, this is the the benefit and sometimes the detriment of Twitter, right? Sent this out in the middle of everybody's watching the football game. And then he congratulated the patriots on winning the AFC championship game because of his friendship with Krefeld Brady. Right. And that's another reason why a lot of people despise the patriots of their connection to Donald Trump. And look Robert Kraft was not the only owner in the NFL that signed a big check to Donald Trump's. Inauguration fund. There were seven owners that that raised seven million dollars for that. But Kraft is personally tight with Trump. I think it's more of a friendship thing because when Myra Kraft died seven years ago, you know, Donald Trump who was at that point a very public, but still not a private citizen was a private citizen, but obviously publicly known had a friendship with with Bob Kraft and would reach out to him and to check on him, and he came up for the ceremony where my aircraft died. So they that friendship seems to be real and people's getting it over the fact that you know, you can be friends with someone you may not agree with their politics. And they may be there for you. When you need them. You may be there for them when they need someone. And but that's yet. Another reason everybody despises the patriots and more. So that they're constantly in the Super Bowl. But as you said job he tweeted this out on Sunday night. And it was like, okay. This is what the president does. He just know a stream of consciousness so that won't hurt schilling because the ballots were in. We're in several weeks think otherwise I would be the kiss of death. It wouldn't have helped them because I don't think anybody say, wait a second. The the president is saying we should vote for Curt Schilling. Let me let me change my vote. Now would only hurt not help him schilling. And you look at comps, and I think a pitcher that you know, I barely saw pitch. But I studied baseball history is Don Drysdale if you look at his numbers, and curt schilling's numbers, they're very very similar Drysdale's in the hall of fame. He pitched more a pitcher's era. Then Curt Schilling did. So I think shilling belongs in the hall of fame. Okay. Well, we'll see what happens. John's happy Chetty joining me. And joining us now is Steve Aylward or a member of the Republican state committee calling in Steve thanks very much for calling in to bat and felt you welcome him a little late employment. Sometimes. Yeah. No problem. No problem. You're you're here with John Chetty, my co host today, and we are wanted to ask you about the changes in the state GOP, but first of all whether on our. Paper today on the front page. We have a big President Trump hat make America. Great hat and talking to people pro Trump is Trump supporters in Massachusetts conservatives saying that they feel. I want. I don't know fearful is the word, but. They don't necessarily always wear let their support for Trump be known because they get too much crap for it for people is that the case with you too. I would have to agree. Joey bad. It's difficult even with family members. Sometimes the the passion for lack of a better word, the anti Trump people sometimes gets too much to handle e either not even in terms of violence, but just in terms of people coming at you and questioning your your views family members, it becomes really difficult than I think a lot of us have just decided it's just not worth just keep our mouths. So you've had family members come up to you or fair, either family or in laws or whatever come up to you. And give you crap about the Trump supporting Trump. Yeah. I mean, it happens all all the time. I mean, I remember book for the election. My brother-in-law's role me telling me it was going to be a NAMI. And then I bet it'd be prepared Trumpian. You know thrown out of offers. They they have no shortage of opinions on that side. But when you try to offer, you our opinion, they don't wanna hear it. Think my story is no different than anybody else. We know we've tried to argue logically talk about it. And. The other side just doesn't want to hear it goes. Do you have the maga- hat? Do you have one of those? I do I do is on the top of my euro where it selectively selectively. Yeah. That's probably a why. But it's it's it's it's too bad. It's a serious note that that has to be the case that people can't express their political beliefs irks press, their free speech without fear of, you know, getting I guess targeted maybe or getting in arguments or people physically threatening you whether that's happening or not. I'm not sure. But certainly it shouldn't be right that you should be fearful of wearing. Expressing your political beliefs? Joe in Europe is hatred team. I've been here I tell people all the time. Wait a minute. This guy was on the view all the time. He was on Oprah. He was on the apprentice, you live seventy years your life one way. And now all of a sudden, you know, he's a he's an evil, man. He was he was I won't say he was a door to worship before. But he was relatively well liked. So all of a sudden. You know, when he turned seventy and a half, he's all of a sudden the most evil person in the world. I I don't get it. Yeah. So you're sticking by your support for is. Is there a feeling in the state party? Now that you're be more welcomed in the state party with the change in leadership now with Jim Lyons taking over. Well, I think that Trump was always well regard you in the state potty. And so it's not so much that people are going to feel better. I would say that seventy eighty people were were pro-trump and in in the state potty. So nothing has changed there. It's just that. I think would Jim. Leading the fight. Now be a little bit of a different feeling in the state party towards just to all the other things that. Comes to fly. And I hope the gym is not afraid to make sure that the outside world knows that as a party. We we do support got on Trump and his his agenda for the most part. I mean, there's gonna be always stuck we disagree with. But for the most part things he'd done jumped of defeating ISIS from the tax cuts and lower regulations. Those are all things that all Republicans stand for and hopefully, we'll stay probably won't be afraid to put out press releases and to go to the media, and and talk about how much we appreciate the things that are being done there. Yeah. They definitely were afraid to praise Trump support before. In fact, most of the time you saw Kirsten Hughes or somebody denounce something Trump said rather than support him in the past. So you're hoping that will change now. Norm, hoping it will change changing. You know, you talk about you know, we would always be told all the time. We'll Trump is very disliked in Massachusetts will one of the reasons I think is nobody was giving the other side. And that doesn't mean they shouldn't be criticism of the president. Sometimes he could. But he deserves praise when he does good things. And if no one's pulling out the fact that he deserves praise for certain episodes. He's made then of course, you're gonna have a situation where throughout the state, he has no favorability. And that shouldn't be the case we out of a job at the state party is to educate the electric on the issues that we believe in. And they hope that that's something. And if I know that that's something that Jim is going to do as we move forward. Yeah. Considering that the state party is now just think ten percent of the voting population. Republicans. How do you go about reversing that? It's it's it's seems like it's going to be a really tough tough thing to do. It's gonna be a very difficult thing to do. But a lot of it has to do with what we talked about educating the electric and letting them understand what it really means to be a Republican. And there's also going to be things we have to do like, registration drives. We're going to have to go do things with in in in the inner city. We've talked about doing things in the inner cities forever and ever never. We never seem to do any of those things what infrastructure things in a lot of messaging things that we're going to have to do as a state party to bring that number back to something better than ten percent. And I again, I have a lot of faith in Jim. I think he knows what has to be done. He knows what hasn't been done in the past twenty years. And I think you'll get us back on on track. Jim as a smart guy. I saw a statistic that shocked me the other day during the Eisenhower era, which was a long time ago. But during the Eisenhower era, there were is pretty much as many Republicans in. In massachusetts. We're Democrats mass Massachusetts was evenly split between Republicans and Democrats. I find that kinda shocking considering now what kind of how Massachusetts is viewed as one as if not the most liberal state one of the most liberal states, most democratic states in the country. Yeah. But but even in recent years, Joe, you know. If you think about it. Scott Brown won that election in two thousand nine Reagan won the state twice. We won the gas tax in two thousand fourteen twenty ten when you made some gains in the legislature teams like when we put a best foot forward when we stay on message, and when we have caused that we're all willing to work together to stand up.

And I believe in the next two years Barry Bonds, and Roger Clemens will get in. I think this is hot the the steroid door to the hall of fame is just open a little bit here. And I think I think they're going to get in the Curt Schilling is going to get in in the next two or three years as well. Maybe. This is the year. Does Marianna Rivera go per does. He get a perfect ballot. One hundred percent, I'm going to guess that. He's not going to get one because you'll get the old guard that says well, Babe Ruth didn't get in unanimously or Willie Mays didn't get in unanimous as oh Marian Rivera not gonna get in unanimously. Okay. That's great. I have a problem with that where the powerful almighty baseball writers in. You're not getting in. It's kind of like the DHI one inning gave up that blooper Gonzales. Failure. Yeah. But Dave Roberts steel a base while you're on the only really had one pitch. I mean what's worth. Okay. All right. So a lot of things to talk about here. Your phone calls or welcome eight.

"All right now, we know we gave you a lot to think about Mark Levin has one thing to say. So you don't get distracted. Attention. way, you had a chance to watch my interview with Curt Schilling wasn't he terrific. Absolutely terrific was after what's that? Yeah. The president thought he was terrific matter of fact, president tweeted about it. Now, it was after the the second football game it bled into us. That is the second football game. But he didn't see you can go back and watch it. I was a fascinating interview. He's really a fascinating person. And he's he's another guy who's been put upon by the left. Twisting his words, tacking him and so forth. And so on. So I thought he was fascinating. And I hope we see and hear more of them Becky Arlington, Virginia, the great WMA. Al go. I yes, I want to express my outrage at how those Covington kids retreated and contrast that with how the gun control kids retreated. Can you imagine the reaction if I'd love to see David hawks put up with the crap that these kids first of all that is a brilliant point. You get the brilliant point of the day ward. And why don't we compare them to antifa? Antifa was given a pass by CNN and MSNBC for most of the time they were beating in people's brains. If you remember exactly, and then that's one congress. This one democrat wanted to ban mega hat's how about let's ban hoodie. Let's ban the masks and the band facelifts. What's Nancy Pelosi gonna do? I don't know. Well, she's kinda that'll be that'll be a rough day for her. I think no no offense. Of course. Your and your your screener already said that somebody had mentioned legal stuff that I think the media outlets should have their licenses revoked while. They don't all have licenses cable TV. You don't have a license. Yeah. But and the social media have allowed all these threats to be going on and Breitbart, there was a there was an article that somebody wanted to put these kids in all and burn it down. And I guess isn't that nice? I'm telling you the left. You know, we reject the kooks on the conservative side. We reject them. They're not even conservatives. They try and tie us into them. There are many kooks on the left. You see him on TV seem as guests, and they don't reject your own cooks..
