"Okay. Joey said Lakers get Kyrie, Patrick bev, let's get rust THT first round pick. Second round pick, jazz get Joe Harris second round pick. I have a double check the money, but off the top of my head it'll be close, thoughts. Why aren't the jazz getting looped into this? I feel like, yeah, I feel like this is just throwing the jazz in just for pat bev, but onto the jazz. I have no real motivation to get involved. Either getting a second round pick, but I don't know. I don't I think that you don't need your complicating things. Anytime you add a third team, you just increase the likelihood that a deal isn't going to get done. Because that's difficult. Yeah. People are asking if Patrick Beverly got bought out. Would he be a good deal? Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely. The only point guard I would pick over Kyrie is Steph Curry. Wow, Kyrie has showed when it's playoff time he performs. He wasn't great in the playoffs this year. But he had a good game one, but like the rest of that boss and series he disappeared. Right. So I don't know if I go that far. I certainly wouldn't say the only point guard I pick over kairi is stuff curry, particularly when you add in reliability and all of that. Obviously, look, if Kyrie was really the second best point guard in the NBA, like clearly, if this is staying, the Lakers wouldn't be the only team after him. Right. Even with Kyrie pushing to try to go for the Lakers. But I do think that he is a big upgrade over Russell Westbrook. You're a hater, if you can't say that. Robert Henderson, this summer league team has already brought more joy than all of last season. Well, there are two. How many times did we see last season the team go to and one? And they're winning by a lot. Now, look, honestly, I usually just don't even pay attention to the scoreboard in some way, 'cause it doesn't really matter all that much. I just pay attention to how guys are playing, but.

"It was a lottery pick last year, who would not only was a lottery pick, but has now a year of NBA experience under his belt and max did not look out of his element at all defending Moses moody. I think that was the biggest takeaway in regards to the Lakers 35th pick. Of course. And I was high on max Christie. I think I thought day one was gonna be really good defender. I didn't think it was gonna be that good. I thought tonight what he showed again is the second game of summer league, blah, blah, blah. But I don't think anybody could really expect a rookie a 19 year old player playing his second game against semi MBA competition, locking up and shutting down. For the most part, an NBA rotation player, because that's what Moses moody was last season was a rotation player who was kind of in and out based on some of the injuries and situations that the warriors had. He played a law in that Dallas series, I recall so you're facing an MBA player in max Christie held his own and then some his defense of ability and also, I think everything I showed in the breakdown on max Christie, we saw tonight, especially defensively, his ability, and it stands out to Trevor because you watched max Christie like fight around squeeze and maneuver around screens that he watched somebody else, yeah, this is different. There was the one play Christie gets put into a pick and roll with Moses moody as the ball handler. He gets screened. He locks in and trails behind moody stays in the play and then moody tried a little dump off pass when I forget who the big was. Maybe it was Jane off. I'm not sure. It comes over to contest moody and max Christie is right there stepping into that lane to get the steel. It was just a smart play and it was exactly what we've been talking about with him defensively. So that was great to see. And the chat's talking about he's a low key player. Yeah, he's an underrated passer in playmaker as well out of ball screen. So I thought this was a great performance. I didn't fully watch the earth game, but I'm a little bothered like max, you gotta shoot a little bit more like I feel like you got a couple of looks. They passed down. I'm hoping that's not him getting in his own head a little bit after the first game. I just shoot, man. Shooter shoot. And I thought he had a couple of looks that he probably should have shot, but it's okay. So second game, I think you'll just and again, tonight, defensively, he was incredible. Yeah, absolutely. Demetrius Jones, would you rather have the Indiana trade or Kyrie so the union trade being some rumored deal miles Turner and buddy healed? Kyrie might expect the long-term contract at the end of the season. What do you think, Sean? Would you rather just do a trade for straight up, just do Kyrie Irving Russell Westbrook for Russ and picks or whatever it is for Kyrie and it's Seth curry or Joe Harris, something like that, or would you rather just do the Indiana trade that we've heard is maybe the backup plan, which is miles Turner and or buddy healed? That Kyrie Irving deal for short, especially if the asking price in terms of picks is even the same or more brandy and which is what we've heard from past room or deals with the pacers. It's kind of Kyrie gives you a chance to win a title..

"Curry, which is served in ladles from steaming pots. Dozens of families, including mothers with babies, lining up with plates to get a portion. But this church hall, which has been turned into a community kitchen. I am more sad, I'm the director of voice foundation, people are going through a very hard time. We came across this single mother who has been having jackfruit for three days because she was not able to cook. That is where the whole thing started. I see a lot of children especially most of them are managed and children as a no. They used to get around 50 people a day at the community kitchen. Now, it's more like 250 with many people being turned away. We are here because we are hungry. I'm trying to feed my children. I don't feel ashamed to be here It's difficult to live in this situation. We buy goods on credit so that we can pay

"Was saying, he was talking about Booker and Phoenix because he's like, there's no way they would trade book or straight up for Durant. You guys don't understand. This is Booker city. It's not much different than curry and Golden State. It's without the titles, but same thing. Booker is the guy in Phoenix. The Booker on that extension. Once that extension went through for Booker, you couldn't have done it anyway. Yeah, but I'm saying like, I'm saying just in general, if you're adding direct book, adding the rant with Booker, he's in the same situation. He was in with curry in a lot of ways, where he's going to somebody else's city and somebody else's team. That's what it's about. But it isn't. But it isn't. There's just no way. What do you mean? There's nothing comparable to going to Golden State with Steph after they had run a title. I'm taking out the titles and I'm taking out that stuff's better than Booker. I'm just saying like, you're still going to somebody else's city. Versus like, what he had in Brooklyn, where it's like, we're creating this from scratch, and I am the guy. That might be that might be true locally, nationally,.
Alan Dershowitz: On Jan. 6, Dems Have Cheated Even Without Opposition
"With respect to this January 6th committee I look at this committee And I say what the hell is this Apart from everything what the hell is this Does this have any basis in the constitution in any rational system when you have one side that's putting a video and putting up oh look at this This is the speaker from Arizona Mentioning names and the people whose names are mentioned have no say there's nobody representing them and it's a national forum and they go on and on about how crimes were committed and how they're going to make criminal referrals Shouldn't we be concerned about this This is the old mccarthyism in a new democratic ARP This is what I remember as a kid with the house in American activities committee and senator McCarthy holding people except they were fair of the McCarthy committee was fair because the Democrats would at least have a chance to ask some questions And the people who were named at least could have lawyers representing them This is like watching a basketball game but it's much more serious In which one team is allowed on the court and Steph Curry is shooting three pointer after three pointer but the other team is not even allowed on the court They're kept on the bench It's outrageous In America you don't trust witnesses unless they're subject across examination of confrontation the constitution talks about the right to confront Witnesses And here you have totally one sided presentation Any Republican who wanted to ask a single hard question was excluded by Nancy Pelosi and they put on two Republicans one of whom is quitting Congress and the other who was going to be defeated in a Republican primary and their following the narrative completely And what's worse about it is that even without opposition the Democrats have

"That's disdain. That's just yeah, that is just smoked. Grant Williams, we don't even need to get into it. But it's okay. I was going to say something about step. Oh, I was going to say that was a shifting narrative coming into these finals that I saw in a few places that was like, it's crazy that there's no top 5 player in these finals, like guaranteed top 5 player in these fights. A prevailing narrative about the death of the super team and super duper stars leading their teams to the championship and I was like Steph Curry constant state media's best efforts to turn Tatum into a top 5 player. I can't believe that. We're about to we're about to talk about Tatum, but please lay off. I mean, okay. Okay, I will. But Steph, yeah, I think he has to be in the top 5. In our top 100. Absolutely commendable. My brother. If he's not, given that he was last year, right? He's not in our top 5 this year. We're going to get some angry emails. What all NBA? I think he was actually on. I think he was fourth. I'm looking at our list now, we had Katie one, Giannis two LeBron three, Steph was fourth in front of jokic, who was 5. LeBron's taking a little bit of a tumble. I hate to break it down. This is gonna be really interesting. Step will probably be three then, is my guess and maybe jokic four. I think LeBron's gonna get a lot of motivation out of my list. Well, unfortunately yeah, we also have to, the tricky part, of course, is pitching it forward. So it's like you have a guy like when was when was the last time KD LeBron escaped last year on our list, by the way? In the top ten? Who? Hardin? Better than beat. He was 7. It's disgusting. Oh my God. So I would be closer to 77 this year. When was this? When was the last time KD KD Kawhi LeBron and Steph were all healthy during the playoffs? That's what I want. That's what I do. I know. I just need to see that. Hopefully. And that's going to make the playoffs next year. Do you guys want to talk I don't want to talk about Jayson Tatum, but I have it here on the outline. I guess just what was your impression of his performance in the finals, his entire postseason run. As I will say, credit to your guy, D wade, really the only parallel that I can see in recent NBA history for someone that young 24 under being the best player in a team that gets to the finals little and winning the championship. Tatum, wade, LeBron and O 7, that's like the whole list. I might be missing someone. I think that's like, that's it. It's pretty impressive stuff. Yeah. So first of all, shout out to D wade, don't get me started on the heat ruined the first 7 years of his career. Absolutely botched it. They did. They did. They flew too close to the sun. It's like the Lakers argument with LeBron, it's like they wanted title, but every other year has been a disaster. I don't know that the Antoine walker James posey Jason Williams veteran core of role players was the smartest move in hindsight. But I will actually mount a defense for Jason Sanders because I've seen people being like, that was an embarrassing series for him..

"They didn't know what their rotation was until late in the second round of the playoffs, and then a key part of that rotation goes down. So to your point, it all just goes back to Steph because he makes the entire organization's life so much easier. Agreed. Yeah. As Steve Kerr said after the game, none of this happens without Steph Curry. I wrote a story in November about the resurgence of their offense when they got off to that hot start. They were in Brooklyn and they had, I think, the best offense in the NBA. After last season, they finished, I don't even know what the same. They think they finished 21st in offensive rating. I could be making that number up, but almost positive. And they looked like they looked like the warriors again. And it was like, I asked everybody in after the game that came to the podium or the interview room or whatever. And Kerr Wiggins, draymond, and Steph, I asked him, what's the key to this renaissance here? And Wigan's just laughed and was like, Steph Curry. Is that a serious question? Everything is about sniff curry. He's just amazing. And we didn't even talk about the production..

"Be there in person. Wardell, Stefan curry, the second. You have sunshine. But you saw it obviously from afar, David, what did it mean to him? Do you think to sort of close that particular loop in his life? Yeah, I mean, we talked about it previously. I mean, that was incredibly important. I mean, I was like probably as proud of him for doing that as anything, you know, he's done. And also, you know, Davison has this sort of archaic rule that they won't retire your Jersey if you didn't graduate. So now they get to retire his Jersey. Davidson, no subway sandwiches. And no jerseys in the rafters if you don't hold the diploma. Yeah, he had to have he had to graduate. And by the way, the city of Davidson now since Steph Curry has graduated is a metropolitan little town with like a Harris teeter and all of these stores and they've totally embraced all of this. He's transformed the entire city into like this whole thing where subways are now allowed to be there if they want to be there. You know, I was watching David. This is how I sort of got the idea at the end here to sort of even talk to you about step because I knew you guys knew each other, but I watched Steph Curry. Truly not forget where he came from when I saw him walk into a game in the Western Conference Finals. Carrying, I think something that you must have been pretty thrilled to notice. Yeah, so he was carrying my book the movement made us that came out may 10th. Go out and buy it so you can be like Steph Curry. You know, he has this book club thing that he does, not texting him, sort of jokingly, like, you know, don't forget me in the book. And he was like, no, I'm not like, this isn't a joke. And, you know, I was like, well, I'm gonna send you send you a book, and of course he knew about it before I told him about everything 'cause he, you know, that's just what he does. And didn't tell me he was going to do it. I didn't ask him to do it. And before game one of the Western Conference Finals as part of his walk up, he carries the book into the game, but like facing out. So you can see what he has, and that's just like the stuff. I mean, it's the same guy who comes to your dorm room after the UNC game. And to help you feel your CDs. That's just what he does. You know, and that's like basketball, no basketball. You just one of the greatest guys that you'll ever know and I'm sure and I want to play with him. I want to play with him in the war. He's like, I want to go a team up with him. I understand what LeBron is saying. Like, you know, that's just the type of stuff that he does, and sticks his neck out for you. And, you know, that's Stephen Curry. So what you're saying is that Stephen Curry now on track to be like one of the two greatest point guards in NBA history in the middle of his playoff rod is still helping David Dennis junior, the Jay-Z of Davidson college. He still helping him move units. Absolutely. David, thank you for doing this, man. It was a joy. Oh, thanks for having me, man. This is great. I'm Pablo Torre. This has been ESPN daily. I'll talk to you tomorrow..

"All right, so those beer Pong games, which I would pay money for film of, by the way. Those beer Pong games aside. We are now in 2009, David. And Stephen Curry can drink legally. He has been drafted 7th overall by Golden State. And to just recap your top end projection for him here. It's maybe an All-Star Game or two. So what was it like for you as his friend to be in touch with staff as he went on to make both you and the rest of the NBA feel pretty stupid about your predictions? I lived in New Orleans at the time, so when you came into the league, I was living in New Orleans and so I don't think he knew anybody else in New Orleans. So it was easy for me to see him after games and things like that and catch him before they hit the bus and people weren't asking for his autograph really. I would just see him. We'd hang out. We talk, and we never talk basketball. We were just talk whatever. I think it was good to see somebody who knew him sort of before. I think what is interesting about him is that he was a regular guy later than most of the stars were, like, LeBron James stopped being a regular dude when he was like 11. You know, like Kevin Durant didn't have any tattoos that said like chosen one or anything. I don't think so. I haven't done a full body scheme and I'm pretty sure he doesn't have that. You know, like Kevin Durant was a superstar when he was like 9. People talk about, well, the NCAA run, then it comes to the league and takes over the league. That's not what happened. 2013, I saw him a couple of weeks before all star weekend. There was a pelicans game, a song. And I think the warriors were creeping into the playoff run. They were like right in the mix of getting into the playoffs, and I was like, well, you know, I'll see you at the All-Star Game. I was going there to cover it. And I was like, I'll catch you there. You're getting in the All-Star Game, that was your first All-Star Game that's exactly how many I thought he was going to get into, so I was like, we've ticked off this career milestone, and he doesn't make the All-Star Game that year. You know, actually, David Lee of the warriors makes the all star team over Stephen Curry. So he doesn't make it. And so I see him in Houston, and we walk to the game together from the, I guess, the player hotel, and we walk to the game, and maybe two people stop him for an autograph. Like it was a low key, non All-Star Game appearance, all star weekend for Stephon curry. Yeah, and now incidentally, he can't even walk around Asia. Let alone America without getting mobbed. But that's what it was like in 2013. That's when that all star snub you're describing was, and it's over the next couple seasons as Steph Curry stays healthy. And he remakes his body in order to get his ankle problems, which had been plaguing him his injuries, plaguing him for so long, he gets those under control. And everything just clicks because it is not simply David that the warriors start winning. It is that there is nobody else in Steph Curry's entire generation. And I would argue any generation who becomes as influential in terms of actual style of play on every level of basketball, right? For better and for worse, because no one had ever played the game like Steph played it. No one had ever shot three pointers from wherever, whenever, however, they wanted to. And by 2015, Steph wins his first of two straight MVPs. He wins his first of three titles, all of them coming against LeBron, and you are feeling what, exactly, as your friend is proceeding to take over the planet. I mean, it was incredible. I mean, you're watching this guy change the face of basketball. They do have a timeout. Decide not to use it, curry. Way downtown..

"Was like, we got Dale curry son, instead of Michael Jordan stuff. Sucks. So immediately, immediately, you are underwhelmed not every possible level. Right. Because well, David, paint the picture for people who don't remember or never got to see what Steph looked like at that time because when you say a child genius, like you're not really exaggerating. He did not look like a college kid. And his Jersey was baggy, was hanging off of him. And you know, he had the baby face thing as like sort of popular now, but then he really looked like a kid. And you know, there were no high expectations for Davidson basketball. Like we would get into the tournament and then lose in the first round and it'd be sort of cool. I used to be able to just walk up to the games. You know, like, I would just be like, oh, there's a game going, just walk up and sit shorter in the front. And watch. Steph Curry in this empty jip. Yeah, like I would just go and be like, oh, there's a game going and we'd watch, and you know, traditionally before it would be like, you know, good Chris ball movement, back screens, jumpers, that was the game, right? And so this kid comes in at the red white game, you know, a little pre season scrimmage thing to sort of get the season started. And he drops 25 points in the first half. What is going on? What is happening shooting from all over the court? And again, still the smallest kid out there, and they would, you know, I remember when you would play the Waffen or whoever at Davidson and everybody would just chant he's a freshman. And then, you know, they put like a big wing on him and you'd be like, what can this kid do? And he was just dropping ridiculous amounts of points. Like I used to watch him in pseudo empty gyms, do some of the most incredible stuff you'll ever see. It was like watching like Mike with Bow Wow. It's like kind of watching John Lennon at some bar and Liverpool where nobody knows what the hell he's going to be. Right, yeah, yeah. I mean, because all through it, it was just like, this is a good story, but there was never NBA talk. Well, so Davidson, right? I understand, obviously, a mostly white school. I know it's a liberal arts college. I know it's relatively small, but give us sort of like the lay of the land here. Where is it? What do people need to know about your Alma mater here? The Soviet Davidson is right outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, about 20 minutes outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. Very, very small about 2000 students, liberal arts school in the city of Davidson, which had, you know, to all sort of brick, everything's brick. It's one of those things that has like a city ordinance that things have to be ahead at the time, the things that had to be brick. There was a controversy about should they bring a subway to the subway sandwiches, Tuesday, which I'm like mostly white. I think like 85% white students, all the black kids, a Davidson, know each other, but it's tremendous school, like it's a wonderful liberal arts college. I love my time at Davidson, love my professors and everything. It was just like extremely rigorous, challenging, school, and at the same time you just have this really cool story of a basketball team like coach mckillop had been there forever is always on the kill up. Yeah, like kind of a hero among small college college coaches. Yeah, and Davidson was in the southern conference at the times. They were going to win the so con. You go to the tournament, you get beat in the first round by some juggernaut team, and that's like a really cool story. And that was really what Davidson Davidson was. Yeah, I was looking up like the last NBA player before Steph to make it out of that city that had, I guess, congressional meetings about whether you want $5 footlongs. And it was this dude Mike malloy, who got drafted in the tenth round in 1970. That was sort of the gap between Steph and the last guy in terms of basketball culture at your school. Yeah, I mean, we love the basketball team, but it wasn't like the community. People didn't come to watch Davis and I mean, you know, they used to have to pass out the players with Steph Curry's passing out tickets himself to games. You know, like there was in bilk arena, there was like a little gym, like a place you could work out that so I would sometimes go in and to do a little workout. I'm like, oh, Davidson's playing. Just like, go walk into the game. Just like sit like three rows from the front and just watch Davidson play basketball. The idea that Steph Curry at one point was just knocking on the doors around around your school to get people to come to games and now obviously like you go on StubHub and you got a mortgage your house to watch him do anything. It's sort of my, it's not sort of. It is straight up mind-blowing, David. And I guess I actually want to recall with you here, the first time your mind got blown watching him shoot. I remember being in the gym like shooting just shooting around on a court that was like sort of next to them while they were playing basketball. They were like, you know, having practice. And I just remember him just empty gym doing around the world drills and I don't think he missed for like 15 minutes. And I was just sort of like, what is like, what is this? And it feels like at normal like athletic powerhouses, right? Like those kids, those prospects, those players, they live kind of on their own away from the rest of the student body. They have their own like athlete housing and stuff, but you're sort of describing a school where that may not have necessarily been the case with you guys. Yeah, no, he was just around. Basketball players were just around. You know, Stephan was around and you would just see him. We just hang out. So he just studying after March Madness, we were in the library and he was like, you know, you go Facebook and in the corner, it has like, you have 5 Facebook requests or whatever back then, right? And so his Facebook friend request had infinity sign? A literal literal infinity design as opposed to a number. He was just like, this is very strange right now. Okay, so we've got to talk about this elite 8 run that you're referencing in 2008, David. The thing that sprung Steph Curry towards infinity because it is his sophomore year, and this is when I remember first hearing about Steph Curry and I remember this like I was there because this is how it's saying in the run was, right? I mean, this was one of the most memorable NCAA tournament runs ever because your Davidson wildcats, your a ten seed, and with all due respect to the other kids on this team, it is basically Steph Curry against the world, right? "Into how this impacts golden states. I guess their title chances. I mean, curry is only supposed to be out a couple weeks a few weeks. Back for the playoffs, but Golden State's schedule is, well, first of all, we should say that Steph Curry is like, even when draymond was out, Steph Curry was everything. And the Golden State Warriors, their offense, was still very good without him. With him, I should say. And fell off a cliff without him. I was looking at some of the lineup data right before we started recording. And I want to ask you out of the top 15 5 man units that the Golden State Warriors have played this year in terms of minutes, minutes played. How many of those 15 lineups do you think Steph Curry has been a part of? I'm going to ask you to repeat it. I'll try to sit back and I would just make sure everyone of the top 15 lineups they have, how many of them have step a part of? How many is no, in terms of minutes played? Top 15 5 man units. How many is Steph in for the Golden State Warriors this season? 15, 5 minutes. I feel like you always got to go with the extreme here. So zero. I'm going to say that he's part of 13 of them. 14, very close, 14. Out of 15, which is just incredible. He is the Golden State warrior still. So you look at their schedule coming up. And it's not a cakewalk. There's a lot of teams that they have this upcoming road trip against teams that aren't, you know, there's like the wizards, the hawks, teams that aren't crazy, good or anything, but teams that have some investment, I think, still in the last few weeks of the season and trying to win and the hawks obviously. Don't have John Collins who last night we learned that he'll be out indefinitely with his own foot injury. So that's a bummer, but they play the heat. They have some tough opponents coming up. So it's just going to be really interesting because you look at the standings and who they're ahead of. And who they've just fallen behind, you know, right now they're in third place. Right behind the Memphis Grizzlies. They're just in front of the jazz, the Mavericks, and I think they're safely ahead of the nuggets in that 6 seed, but you look at see how far ahead is just when you talk about the jazz. And then three and a half games with essentially what three weeks left. How much more time do we have now? Something like that, three weeks or so. Yes. Three up in Alaska. Three up in the last column. It'll be interesting. We'll see. I don't know what their schedule looks like. It's interesting. Either way, they could without curry in all these games. They could go on a losing streak. That's not out of the question..

I'll be joined by fellow FT journalists who report on these stories every day. And together we'll figure out what really works. So that's working it from the Financial Times. Listen and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Okay, let's move on. I want to talk real quick about I wrote this piece on the site that was kind of a build off of a conversation we had in our last episode about how December 15th, which was yesterday is a day where a lot of players who recently signed contracts in the off season become trade eligible. And one of those players, the number one most interesting player in my opinion is Kemba Walker. And the next one and 7 since Kemba Walker was removed from the rotation. They have the 29th defense in the NBA since he was removed from the rotation. And I'm watching the Steph Curry, the magical stiff curry game. We break the record and I'm sitting on my couch shedding a tear. And it's like, I completely forgot that Kemba Walker was even on the team, and then they showed him later in the game, still on the bench, despite all of the there's a ton of players and health and safety protocols for the Knicks. And you would just think that it makes sense to play him over rookies and younger players for a team that he's not on a veteran minimum contract. And you paid him because you think he can help and he was shooting over 40% by the three point line. I understand the on offs and all that. But why is he still out of the rotation? I guess is the question I have here? And is it because the Knicks just like don't want him to get hurt before a potential trade? Just like, how weird is this, really?.

"Kauai, Jordan. These guys get the ball to triple threat position. They look over the defense. They can shoot over their own guys. They can fade over their own guys. They literally, when they stand up tall and hold the ball they look like they're lording over their dominion. Then you have your low post centers. You're shacks, you're a large ones, even wilt back in the day. You give them a ball, down low. They either draw a double team or they shoot and score. That's it. That's controlling the action. That's how the greatest players before Korea and every great player really other than current. Most of them, anyway, with some exceptions like a Magic Johnson or an Oscar Robertson or Jerry West. That's how they sort of exercise their dominion over an entire game, bent an entire game to their will. Curry doesn't play like that. And that's been part of the difficulty I think in assessing exactly what his plays in history should be. He's actually been a really good efficient isolation score. It's just not something that has done that much. Some of that is by choice his choice. Steve Kerr's choice. Some is probably just basic physical realities. It's not easy for a 6 two guy to score one on one if you put Kawhi Leonard on him or LeBron on him or whatever big win you have on your team, which was every playoff defense is gonna try to do. Even though he's such a great shooter, you have to press curry basically everywhere beyond half court, and that makes it easy for him to drive by you and all that. It's just not the way he's played. It's not the way he's built to play. Steve current and I once talked about game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, which no team scored for four straight minutes, the warriors offense sort of ground to a halt the Cavs switched everything in the warriors couldn't get a good shot. And he talked about it in the context of the warriors signing Kevin Durant. And when he told me, was, quote, Durant gets us shots we didn't used to be able to get at the end of those 2016 finals. We couldn't get a good shot. Last year, he's talking about a year with Durant. We could get almost any shot we wanted. And really, like, you can not overstate the degree to which the Durant signing in Golden State was just an absolute seismic event. It was an earthquake. The league is really still recovering from him. It changed everything, including how we perceive Steph Curry. But anyway, what all these top 15 guys really do when it comes down to it is either score or draw two defenders onto them, draw double teams. Steph just does that in a way we've never really seen. He does it a lot on the pick and roll, which of course we have seen. We all know what the Steph draymond pick and roll can do. It's magic. The unspoken chemistry, those two have. That's a dream. That's why we watch sports to see something special like that evolve over time. Two geniuses with complimentary skill sets coming together by chance. A lottery pick, who should have gone number one and a second rounder. I mean, come on. That's awesome. Curry broke basic NBA pick and roll defense just broke it. No one had ever taken so many off the dribble threes. No one had ever dreamed anyone could hit almost half of those kinds of attempts. In the 2013 playoffs, which is really when the warriors kind of made their mark, I called curry a glitch in the system. That was this postseason coming out party. The moment the entire league realized uh oh, this dude is a problem on the biggest stages against the best defense. He's not just a regular season carnival. That really crystallized against the spurs in the second round. The spurs tried to play traditional drop peck defense against curry and he absolutely tore them apart. You can see the spurs realizing in real time. Wow. Wow boy, this is something new. We weren't really prepared for this. What is this that we're facing? The warriors might have won that series head curry and Andrew Bogut not gotten hurt. They also blew an enormous lead in game Warner game two. I can't remember how I thought my head, those spurs, the spurs that just squeaked by the warriors in 6 games really had injury riddle worse than they went on to come within a Ray Allen shot of winning the championship. I also think back a lot to the last few minutes of game 6 of the 2019 finals against the raptors warriors raptors after Klay Thompson at tour his ACL. Kevin Durant, of course, was already hurt. Curry was playing crunch time with a lineup. This was a real lineup that they were playing down the stretch of an elimination game in the finals. Sean Livingston, Andre Iguodala, draymond green editor, boogie cousins or caban Looney. That is literally Steph Curry and four bad shooters. The raptors were using a boxing one against them in their curry was running around screens running all over the floor, dragging three raptors with them, not just two, you watched the tape three raptors with them, wherever you went, just setting picks, cutting around, sometimes they never even touched the ball. And all the attention that he drew, all the screens he set that ended up with two and three guys chasing him. They allowed all those non shooters to just kind of like pity pat the ball around in the paint until one of them had a layup or got fouled or something. It was incredible. The secret sauce of the warriors with curry has always been for all the attention that the three pointers get the splash whereas and all that for all the focus on the defense and how great it's been. The secret sauce of their offense is they get a ton of shots at the rim because of how much attention curry draws away from the rim. By the way, that even started happening on fast breaks in like 2015, 2016. Curry would run the wing on fast rakes in like three defenders would chase him. He didn't even have the ball three defenders would chase him even though they knew doing that might concede a layup to someone who just sort of runs down the middle. Like, no one's guarding me because they're all gardening curry. Boom dunk. It's a form of dominance that just didn't look like traditional basketball dominance. Even in the way we read and perceive the game curry is a glitch in the system. Far not the following season 2019 2020 was positioned as a referendum on curry. Durant was gone to the nets. Clay was heard. D'angelo Russell was on board. Draymond was healthy. LeBron, we said, you could take any roster to 50 wins. Good stuff. Kind of forgot the Durant thing made us forget what Steph had done before Durant got there. Curry broke his hand in the fourth game of that season. The warriors were one and three. All of their losses were blowouts. We didn't get an answer because of the broken hand, but it didn't look great. Now, curry is answered all the questions. It's over. The only question is how high he will ascend on the all time player rankings. It's too early to go there now. But it's gonna be a really, really high. In his locker room speech of MSG, you can watch it on YouTube. Curry thanked among many, quote, everybody who believes in the offense. I thought that was fitting. Golden State's offense is different than any other offense because curry is different from any other number one option that ever came before him in the NBA. The warriors system and curry are inseparable. He is the system. The warriors found a bunch of players this season who understand how to play that system and they are flying again and Klay Thompson isn't even back yet. Curry is going to put so much distance between himself and reality. It's a joke. There was no suspense in court getting the record. We were just waiting on the inevitable. But it was a fun excuse to celebrate a universally beloved player, an all time teammate, the greatest shooter ever. Curry has a lot left to accomplish, but let's raise our glasses to the once and forever. Glitch in the system. Now let's bring in ESPN's Nick free Dell who was at that game to share.

"And now, the low post. Welcome to the low post podcast at the end of a week that was really the coronation of Stephen Curry is the greatest three point shooter of all time. We already knew he had that title, but now he owns it in the record books after breaking Ray Allen's record at the one in only Madison Square Garden. It was, frankly, a relief from the onslaught of new COVID cases that has the league and every other sports league reeling I've lost track at this point of how many players are in the health and safety protocols, how many teams are facing outbreaks and all you can do is cross your fingers and toes that all of these cases or as many as possible are asymptomatic. I've heard that most of them are that everyone stays healthy. Everyone stays safe and everyone's lives are as unaffected as possible by this, you know, there's been a lot of speculation about will the league pause the season will the league take other drastic measures like maybe delaying the start of the postseason so they can fit makeup games at the back end of the regular season. As of right now, 4 o'clock, Pacific time on Thursday afternoon. I don't hear a lot of appetite for those kinds of solutions. What I hear is barring something unforeseen. And by the way, the whole pandemic has been fairly unforeseen, we're going to keep going, the league is going to keep going, postpone games as needed and just sort of try to wriggle through it and all that there is not a lot of appetite for extending the season into July or August or missing games and things like that. But again, we'll see. We'll see what happens. All solutions are on the table when they need to be on the table, I guess. But back to curry, we really was a relief from an arduous week. We'll all remember where we were when he broke the record at MSG. The shot, the pass from Andrew Wiggins, all of that, even if it was a little anti climactic, like we've been talking about this for a month, he's going to blow away the record by so many three pointers, it's ridiculous. By the way, we did rank on MBA today. We ranked that shot the most memorable curry three pointer with which I vehemently disagree. The only answer is the one in Oklahoma City, the double bang from Mike breen, the half court almost half court game winner. That's a flashbulb NBA moment. That's a, you remember exactly where you were when that shot happened. I was on my couch and I jumped off my couch in New York City. Mid shot because it was just so audacious that any human being would take this shot with three or four seconds left on the shot clock. But from that game at MSG, there's another little play that I'll always remember. It's a nerdy little play, but hey, I'm a nerd. Last possession of the third quarter, the warriors have the balls like 20 seconds left. Steph's dribbling way up the top of the arc. What are the next two? They double team. They just send two defenders flying on them where anyone but you step, Steph passes the ball to Andre Iguodala on the right wing. There's like ten 12 seconds left. Plenty of time. Defense resets, there's one guy on step one guy on Andre double team's gone. In that moment, every other top 15 ball handler in NBA history. And that's what step is. Asks for and gets the ball back. Even if they know another double team is coming, I might waste time navigating that double team. Maybe it's not the smart play. They all get it back. That's just what they do. Steph didn't do that. What did he do instead? He ran and set a pick for Iguodala. Steph Curry set a pick for Andre Iguodala. Iguodala drove left around that pick and like thousands of defenders on thousands of curry screens before that one, curry's guy did not help on Iguodala's drive. He stuck to curry like glue because that's what you have to do with the greatest shooter of all time. Iguodala sailed in clear for a layup got failed hit both free throws. Boom two three points from a curry screen. Curry is 6 two. That's short for top 15 standards. He's skinny. Doesn't look like most NBA immortals. That's been a big part of his mainstream appeal. This massive mainstream appeal. People see themselves in curry in the most basic physical sense. Downside, it has also made it a little hard for some people to properly contextualize curry and his greatness his individual greatness. We're not very good at watching what happens away from the wall. We're just not trained to do that. Our brains don't think like that. We're not good at watching things like picks. What we are used to invest while history is two.

"But think it's obviously a really shout out, but it's also, hey, bro, you know, it's not an easy time for us right now, but I got your back. You know, you have to look at it that way as well with everything going on. Yeah. This is a very tough and almost a sad situation. But what it is, though, again, it's reality. The reality is that it doesn't matter how well it looks or how much how good it smells. At the end of the day, things can go wrong and everything explodes. Because that's the last thing I think that any of us talk all about was the fact that the curries about them, you know, divorcing each other. 'cause I didn't even know they were. I didn't even know they had separated. They've been separated over a year now. I had no idea. She's been seeing what's going on. And the reports are that she actually lives with, you know, her boyfriend. Steven Steven Johnson is a name. He was drafted by the Patriots during the mid 80s. And it's interesting because this court proceedings, papers that TMZ obtained is stating that she was living with the guy for quite some time out in Tennessee. Now, of course, she denies that, but this is Bill curry saying, or at least lawyer saying that he's live with this guy for quite some time. Really, I don't even understand why. You go through that. Because ultimately, at the end of the day, the man always has to be has to pay money. And I don't know, max, you got receipts. What you got? You're getting a divorce. It doesn't make any difference at this time. Max hold on. Put me on game. Hold on, I'm not hit. Who are you doing? If the wife cheese, if this all pays out, you should listen with the guy and everything. It's 9 times of the ten. It is about the man. And he's still getting a clay. She's still getting baby and it's about the man and just the way this is the real world. The real world isn't one where, you know, that women that women really have to pay that much. How many times have you seen that? You've seen several times we see a woman have to pay alimony with Britney Spears have to pay or some of my head to pay. But these women were talking about had a large amount of money. For what I understand, she doesn't have a large amount of money. She was her money in delta when it was together. It's going to be more so about the way that the man's ability to help the wife move forward in her life. That's wild. I thought if you have receipts, here's a lesson to be learned. These kids are not 18 anymore, max..

"You have this team that Steph Curry has essentially carried and managed to keep relevant for most of the season and now you got seeing those to battle it out. It's I think I'd be a very interesting place that probably be like the best probably playoff series. The first thing, I mean, I guess but like they don't have anybody to guard LeBron James Friday. I mean okay, forgive me, Draymond Green that can put on a g and that would probably be okay, but she is going to shoot over him. He really you know, he's going to post them up and that's going to be tough and LeBron. I mean who you go throw in the Bronx to be like Uber or brigands. You know? Like okay I think me I'm kind of I'm kind of seeing them like coming back from injury. I'm just going to say maybe they're not. Oh okay. Like I don't I don't think LeBron straight into the Play-Off. The thirty-six-year-old I'm not going to count them out but at the same time I don't know what the LeBron in the playoffs pressure injury looks like you know, right? That might be some that might be a different animal that we see and then Steph birth. Has been on this hot Street who comes in first game. He drops 45, then it's a close game. Down the stretch. Now you need Anthony Davis on the bar on the close, the game mousetrap, doing his thing. That, that, that, that situation in itself is something that's wrong. Right? Exactly. Wow, look at look at Brandon's now. Convincing me that maybe they have a real, real, real shot and being Lakers. This is great and writers, Kevon Looney, who's out there and member, they're going to start. Drumming, I assume wage. Although Drummond, man. You know, I'm kind of not doing a lot of, you know, Light Em Up videos anymore, but drum, I don't know, man. I mean, I was trying to warn Lakers fans when he got there, but God, I haven't seen a lot of great stuff from him with the Lakers. I don't know. And yet they keep playing them over kasol. Yeah. I don't I don't see them. That's that's another thing too. Is like once the playoffs start the game slows down. Do you want to still keep on doing something on the floor? Do you need a guy like most Marcus or who obviously isn't as fast as mobile? But he's still a smarter Defender and he still has like some dead. The tangible defensive abilities is just his age at this point. Yeah, no, I I agree. I think that you're, you know, it's not it's slim pickings. If you have to choose on this point and it should be good. So it's a no-brainer because you just doesn't moving as well, wasn't as effective, but I think that, you know, listen Drummond his skill level to me, doesn't Merit starting. And, and getting a minutes on that team, especially in a long way off shot. You know, where we're at, turn over here and a missed layup here. It could kill you, you know, especially against that now, right? I mean, it's not like that if Steph goes off and then it's like, said, Thursday has to go off, right? Like there isn't any version of The Matrix where the Warriors win and steps scores like eighteen points and shoots, you know twenty percent right?.

"And then I did a video saying, well if you call him albums to call out your own player who did it for years and years and he did it on purpose. Yeah so I have no no no love lost for Bruce Bowen I mean listen look good for him for like you know carving out a career and making something happen for Thursday. Without limited ability, but the idea that he would do that there was so much evidence to Kobe as well of him doing a sliding underneath her feet and and trying to get him the, you know, roll their ankles horrible. But but duly note it, I mean, certainly if they're not on the floor, that's one way you can stop them. I would also say whatever happened to a double-team. How does if you took well? We know that stuff will pass the ball. He'll be there. He'll do the right play, know pass the ball and that's the goal. The goal should be getting out of his hands, right? Like it shouldn't he shouldn't have it as much as he did Even though again the Thunder are not incentivised to win. They're not a good defensive team anyway but we see like the good teams as well do this. And they don't necessarily double enough who is going to hurt them and the Warriors you know, dribbling and space. It's acting in the rim on a what? Like I guess a four on three. Nobody maybe it. Maybe you can get Draymond Green going and setting somebody up for Thursday. I don't stay home and tear him to shoot any kind of Runner or floater or sort of any shot at The Rim. I don't, I would take my chances with that over anything Curry shot. Well, the one team that was able to, like, hold in to like a real, like a 13 points was the Clippers and like, they barely won that game, which kind of surprising. It was like, in the beginning of the year, like, maybe, I don't know if you remember, but it was like, maybe it was it January or December is mm. Yeah. I, you know, I don't remember that but I'm trying I'll have to go through and figure out what they did if anything because again, when you watch the Mysteries, I was studying to my side it's like okay, what did the defense do offer to make him miss that three? And I gotta tell you on some of them, it's like nothing like you just pulled up, he was open again, lewd or fell asleep, a number of times so we can go into that a little bit in a second while the man human. Yeah. I mean that that's, that's what it is. I mean, it's like but then again if we can reverse-engineer what we see from the defense you can try and do it more often obviously and then that would maybe help about it. But again. I think they have a discussion because especially when you see them, go to the basket and finish over Biggs with loaders. This is the most skilled. I've ever seen any player be especially pound-for-pound that it's six three, right?.

"Sunday, unlock room at 9 a.m. Pacific A Mother's Day. So happy Mother's Day to all the people who are celebrating and also a don't forget here on Wednesdays. Also, I think we're going to move into like 1 p.m. in the afternoon but either way can always find jobs they're Sundays and Wednesdays. So welcome, everybody. Hope you're if you if your mom's around and you can say happy Mother's Day to wear and make sure you do that, do that every day. Why unlimited to just one day a year that's been created by the the card companies, right? So as we all scream in here, don't forget if you want a job, but up with me, I always welcome that you can come in this request to speak and we bring everybody in at one time said, let's talk about this but, you know, I was looking around at Curry's as his game last night. I mean, we need to get the stat. I don't know if anyone's done this, we're dead. You know, it just step have 49 points and 29 minutes and I kind of feel like we need to see what that record is like, you know, most points for fewest minutes because it's got to be up there. But I can't think of any, you know, another player that's played. So a few minutes. It's got up to almost fifty points. And so, you know, the key here is when you watch it, okay? Of course, it was okay. See? And they're not incentivised to win money. They do have lewd or who you would have expected to be, you know, offer something up against Steph Curry, we've seen him against hardened. We've seen him this year, be terrific defensively, he's very active, very strong, very quick with a lot of energy on that end. But I gotta tell you that, when you look through, every one of the whatever 30 some field goal attempts at Curry shot dead. You know, he fell asleep on so many of those, it was crazy. I don't know what was going on with him because it's definitely an anomaly from what I've seen this year and last year as well. So but it's always nice when you can log. Up against, you know, a team that's not good and not good defensively. And, you know, one of the things that they were doing was Steph were what made him so good last night was, you know, he ended up making, eleven three zero and eleven 4:21. They were picking them up at half court, so we could talk about how to stop Steph. Curry and certainly one of those things is you have to pick him up in the backcourt, you can not let him dribble over half court, without anybody in front of him and that happened. A number of times last night. It was kind of like scratching my head thinking, what is going on here? Because, you know, obviously he's the, he's the greatest threat, the Warriors have on offense arguably. Like the only really legit threat out there to score especially coming across the outpouring of dribble..

"But you do need to do it in a way. That doesn't hamstring you. One quick note. It may not just be the timber wolves pick and maybe the warriors bad as as they've shown time so we'll see where this goes it may be too top five top eight top ten whatever in a strong draft and if weisman blossoms into a star still a little early for that the a good indication so far but yeah they may have that rare ability to pull off the smoothest transition from championship era dynasty era to the next era without having to bottom out in a major way or bottom out for too long like they they kinda did bottom out in terms of record this past year but weird circumstances with klay out and all that stuff but they might be able to thread that needle. It's really tough to do. And but you want curry therefore it if if at all possible the one thing i'll say just in supportive of your your framing which is like. Let him hit free agency. he'll be thirty four at that time right. And so how many teams even if the if the fear we're we're going to lose them for agency. How many teams are going to go. Max out of thirty four year old Especially a smaller guard who. They don't generally age as well probably. There's probably not a lot of risk there unless you know say it's charlotte. Who just wants to bring him home and like you know have plant a flag. You'll put up. Put a nice little know flagging their kappa. Whatever i don't think there's a lot of danger there. I guess the other danger though is more of are you. Are you doing a disservice as it insulting in some way to steph curry to say you know what we're waiting waiting for free agency. We we just have to see where we are in hand and how you look like. Is that the wrong way to treat a guy who's much the franchises at the wrong signal to send to other stars and their agents and their families because that is. There's a political reality to chris. You do have to factor in perceptions and just wanting to show that we're the kind of franchise that always takes care of its own. I get that. Although i would argue that writing checks the total forty five million dollars in that last season is thanks enough. I mean i mean you. And i know it's never that simple. It isn't right. It isn't worth watching. Good piece by michael pena check it out over at sl dot com It's up right now on the site. You decided it was time to upgrade your outdoor deck. "For curry curry. I'm Bagley back some of the dribble takes up very over the top. Seventeen eleven Curry's got thirty four. He's got ten breeze tonight. He ended up with thirty six ten of sixteen from downtown which anybody else, and you're like my goodness. He had ten threes ads. Just another game for Steph curry you heard that ninety five seven the game seven assists in the game as well. Golden state. It's a two point win one twenty five one twenty three over Sacramento. The lead was a little bigger in the fourth king's made a late run Golden State held them off. But there was a concern here. And there is a growing concern with the warriors is it comes time for the postseason the bench. They got fourteen points out of the bench starters one hundred eleven points. The bench gave him just fourteen Igwe dollar with nine leading the way everybody else on that bitch five total points. And so like, I realized curry Katie who had twenty eight points seven blocks five of those on Marvin Bagley in the first half alone. You're fine. You've got incredible. The starting five there's there's obviously none better. Philly included in my opinion. But over the course of a postseason to have this little production from the bench. I think should be a bit alarming again fourteen point from the warrior bench, and it was a topic of conversation with head coach Steve Kerr after the game your Dench players looting. The problem at the finals, not the play to find those because. Finals. Finals. Talk.
