John Zmirak and Eric Discuss the Travesties Inflected by Democrats
"About the translators in Afghanistan who helped Americans fight our stupid war over there? And when Biden abandoned them, they're being shot. They're being starved to death. Their wives are being raped and sold as sex slaves for the Taliban. What about the old people, the military veterans and great grandparents? Who died of COVID in nursing homes because Democrats dump COVID patients there on purpose to spike the death statistics so they could do states of emergency and mail in balloting and steal the election. Yes. Yes, the Democrats did it on purpose. They did it in state after state. No Republican state did this. Compared the death toll of old people in Florida full of old people with New York. It was much higher in New York because in New York, the governor was trying to kill old people. And that's one thing Andrew Cuomo could succeed at. He might not have been able to get his interns to go to bed with him, but he could kill helpless old people. Well, John, I want to say, I just want to clarify again. Folks, this is true. When my wife Suzanne was sharing some of this stuff with me, it was very hard for me to believe it. I just thought, come on. Look, I don't like the cuomos, and I don't like democratic politicians, but to send people to their deaths, I don't believe they would do that. So it took me some time. Faith believe, believe my friend, believe. What would I mean? It did take me time to process this. And if you don't care about this, if you think, well, we'll just we'll let it go. That's not okay, folks. What was done to people all around this country, we have to have a reckoning. It's the right thing to do. And I also want to say what you said yesterday, John. This was done deliberately to make the death rates go up because there were many things that happened if the death rates went up. So all kinds of people that didn't really die of COVID were marked down as dying of COVID.
Andrew Klavan on the Status of Courage in a Post-COVID World
"Status of courage after the last two and a half years of COVID, what's your diagnosis? Oh, it was. You have courage left? Oh, it was embarrassing. And it had a cause, the cause was materialism, the lack of faith. When you have these guys, when Donald Trump stood up, this is one of my favorite moments because I have this kind of morbid sense of humor. But when Donald Trump got COVID and he stood up on the balcony, took his mask off. The news media went nuts. And there are two words to describe women, the word womanly, which is what you look for in a woman, a womanly woman will she walks into the room, men straighten up, and they stand up. But woman ish is the opposite of that. It's kind of like macho is for men. It's kind of this over emotional hysterical, fearful idea. Well, if the press was not woman in that moment, I've never seen it. And there were all men. There were all men going, no, be afraid. Trump said, don't be afraid. Don't let it dominate. Be not afraid. Jake tapper said, no. Be afraid. I just cracked up because I thought, no, that is what they've sold us for these two years. Andrew Cuomo, there's nothing worse than death. What's worse than death? Of course you have to give up your dream and close your business and closure. Because otherwise, it's death and death is death. Well, you know, some of us believe that no, there are things more important freedom is more important than life. I mean, you're willing to die to stay free. You're willing to die to protect your family. You're willing to die to stand up for what you believe in if it's important enough. So once you believe the death, there's nothing worse than death and death is everything. You're a coward by nature. I mean, you have to be. It's only logical. And that's what they've been preaching. And of course they're preaching it. If they steal power by creating crises, what good is a crisis if you're not afraid.
Bob Stefanowski: The Corruption Tax in Connecticut
"Remember growing up you know when you made it especially if you made it in the financial industry or some white collar job it was considered a big deal to go and move over to Connecticut to get away from the Mario Cuomo A B New York City disaster but you're right They implement this state income tax We're always told it's going to start small It's going to subsidize a few things And then they always expand That's why I've always appreciated down here in Florida where we don't have one of those things Now you're not going to be able to wipe it clean in one fell swoop but what can you do if elected governor to start to clean up the financial mess that sadly Connecticut's become Well the biggest tax in Connecticut is what I call the corruption tax Our governor's administration is under two Two separate FBI investigations right now One is for hundreds of thousands of hundreds of millions of dollars of fraudulent school construction contracts Another one is overspend on a state peer project and that tax that gets passed down It's really a tax It's money that we could be using for education It's money that we could be using to cut the sales tax and the fraud and the waste and the abuse can Connecticut is crazy And I used to be the CFO of UBS I know how to rein in costs I use zero based budgeting If you take a $24 billion budget and try to chip away at it it's never going to work We've got to start with a blank piece of paper We need to figure out what we absolutely have to have and build from there There's no fiscal discipline whatsoever in Connecticut but I'm hopefully can bring it back
What's Going on With the New York Governor's Race?
"From New York Charlie, what's going with the New York governor's race? It sure seems like Lee zeldin is closing in, what do the latest polls show? So on September 11th, Kathy holker had a 6 point lead against Lee zeldin. Now remember the backstory here, Andrew Cuomo was a very popular Democrat governor until he became a problem for the regime, and they took him out. Kathy hochul took office, no one knew who she was. Crime in New York is way up, inflation is way up in New Yorkers are ready to give the middle finger to the Democrat party. Now there is a new poll from coefficient poll. Now, I've never heard of this polling agency coefficient poll. Can you guys tell me if it's, I don't know if it leans right or left? I don't know. But it shows Lee zeldin, Republican running for governor of New York in the lead. By one point. This is one of the deepest blue states in the country. And you see Lee zeldin up one point in the latest New York governor's poll. Why is this happening? Let's remind ourselves play cut a hundred New York City announces the beautiful. Luxurious. Well, tailored. Well funded centers for illegal criminals that march into your country and your city, they get treated better than our homeless vets. Play cut 100. When migrants first walk in after intake, they will see a recreational room set up with rows of couches, TVs, xboxes, and board games. There will also be a phone bank so migrants can connect with family in order to find more permanent housing. Next, there is a cafeteria that will provide migrants with three meals a day and snacks, coffee and tea will be available 24/7. Those meals are all culture appropriate. It is South American fare. The senselessness of the crime happening in New York City is remarkable. People getting shoved in front of subways on the platform. What is the point of that? They're not stealing money. No, they want to see other people suffer.
Why Charlie Doesn't Think Kanye West Is a True Anti-Semite
"I'm not sure how up to date you are with what's been going on with Kanye West and his interview with Tucker Carlson. Very hard to keep up with it. His interview with Tucker Carlson and Cuomo and the podcast, but I was wondering, what are your thoughts on what? He had to say about the media and politics in general and specific on what are your thoughts on him and Candace Owens in the white lives matter t-shirts. Also, do you believe that or do you believe that Donald Trump was a good president why or why not? Okay, that's a lot of questions. Let me start with the easiest I wrote a whole book saying Trump was a good president. So yes, definitely believed that. And he was a great president, economically, American strength, energy independent, all that sort of stuff. So I wrote a whole book on that. So I will answer the most controversial part of the question intentionally because it's important that people are honest. So I don't love the way what Kanye said, but I do not think that Kanye is an anti semite, because I'm a behaviorist. And I have never seen Kanye ever treat someone who is Jewish without respect or honor or decency. That's a very important thing, which is, okay, should he have said what he said? That's debatable and questionable. However, the outrage from people to cancel him and throw him out the window. I asked the question is, how is he treated people that are Jewish and across the board? He's treated them very well. Such says a lot before you start all of a sudden going to the rafters and saying he's the worst person ever because of what he said. And I think it could obviously have been worded differently. I had the opportunity to spend some time with him. Over a summer. And that was a whole whirlwind of time that was back in 2018 or 19. And I found him to be an incredibly decent and loving father. And so I think a lot of these characters slanders and smears against him are wrong and awful and from people that I've never met him. So that was kind of the first answer to that. The second thing is he's undoubtedly one of the most talented artists of a generation. His communication style is not for everyone. He says things that people don't like. Okay, that happens a lot in life, stop taking yourself so seriously instead of understand this is someone who's worth multiple billions of dollars that is now speaking out against a couple things. What he calls a genocide in the black community, which is regular abortion, that's a very serious thing he's speaking out against. And he's also talking about liberating this idea that you must believe a certain thing because your skin color.
2 Teens Shot Outside Lee Zeldin's Home While Daughters Inside
"Did you see what happened with Lee zeldin? He's the gubernatorial candidate in New York State. We had him on the show a couple of weeks ago. After he was attacked on stage by somebody, right after Kathy hochul, set out ominous rhetoric about his location. The mainstream media didn't connect those dots, did they? Well, Lee zeldin was campaigning over the weekend. He's the Republican candidate for governor in New York State. Kathy hochul, who was the governor by accident after Cuomo got pushed out over all his scandals. Now she's in there, and Lee zeldin is challenging her, and he is campaigning on a Law & Order platform. He is a Law & Order gubernatorial candidate. Not only does he suffer personal violence at the hands of some deranged guy who hopped up on the stage and had a weapon in his hand, over the weekend, his twin daughters are home on Long Island, a shooting occurs right outside their door. Lee's Sheldon's front porch was roped off as part of the crime scene.
OPEC Is *Screwing* With Biden With Jack Posobiec
"If you want to talk about people who have with Joe Biden, I don't even know how long that list would be. But currently, the people effing with Joe Biden are called OPEC, OPEC plus. Here's what Biden did. And I still can't fathom. How The White House thought this would be a good idea. They get into office with the very first thing they do. They shut down drilling offshore. They shut down federal permits. They shut down drilling in Alaska. They do everything they can to stifle fracking in places like oh, by the way, Pennsylvania. This is exactly what I'm talking about. You can turn the rust belt into the fracking belt because of the Marcellus shale find. The Marcellus shale find, which God bestowed to the people of Pennsylvania, the people of Ohio, and yes, the people of New York State, even though the governors in New York will never, ever. Kathy hochul and before her Cuomo, they're never going to let anyone tap into that energy resource that was bequeathed by God to the people of those states. Senator mastriano had a point about this. Nobody's covered it. I've read all the hit pieces every single one of the inquirers going after me. Why would senator mastriano bring a mega guy like Jack phobic to southeast Pennsylvania? Well, maybe it's because I'm literally from southeast Pennsylvania, idiots, dipsticks, but what did mastriano actually say? I'm going to tie this all together because it ties into OPEC it ties into who fs with Joe Biden and it ties into Tony bubble in a little bit too. And I'll explain how. Because remember, the deal that Bobbie linsky was working on. You got to connect the dots. It was an energy deal. It was a Chinese energy firm. This is one belt one road. China wants to build the infrastructure. They don't want the Americans to build it. They don't want the Russians to build it. They want China to control all the energy and financial infrastructure worldwide. That's one belt one road. That's what they were paying off Biden to do. Biden sold us out. It's as simple as that. They sold us out.

Is NY's Anti-Trump Attorney General on the Verge of Collapse?
"Matt Vespa is New York's anti Trump attorney general in the verge of collapse Good lord that would be wonderful That would be a coup if this were to happen come election day No I'm not talking about a literal coup Just a nice upset win against an anti Trump zealot Still a Republican winning statewide and deep blue New York for an office they usually doesn't get much attention Certainly by the media would be a nice scalp for the party this election cycle Attorney general letitia James seemed poised to become a serious gubernatorial candidate in the wake of the groping fiasco That engulfed governor Andrew Cuomo a scandal that became so enveloping that he was forced to resign GE what happened to that poof gone James was one of the state officials that took the allegations seriously A report confirming that Cuomo had engaged in sexual harassment was probably the kill shot to his governorship Catholic replaced him and took a strong lead in the polls Which forced James to retreat Opting to run for another term as New York attorney general James has openly declared war on Donald Trump You can not have a prosecutor Somebody who runs to be prosecutor and then as a prosecutor whose targeting somebody and that's what James has done and she ought to lose her license She should be disbarred but she won't be
Lee Zeldin: Kathy Hochul Is Much Worse Than Andrew Cuomo
"I've seen a lot of bad politicians candidly on both sides She is uniquely terrible She's the governor select She has never been elected to be the governor Of course we had the Cuomo scandal But I listened to her speak in this condescending kind of kiss my butt tone and despite the dreadful public safety situation of people fleeing New York and droves She acts like she's selling you a diamond when she's selling you at this point a rotten egg which is the broken government in New York She's been really really terrible And that's one of the other reasons I think you've got a really good shot I think she's even turned off evidenced by all of your Democrat endorsements that even some Democrats in the party are like I've had enough of this Yeah to your point exactly And I have it at the top of my social media feeds and at Lee's Eldon's my Twitter feed for example And you can see this video where she's at an airport today getting pressed by this reporter about why is people why are people leaving the state in droves And she just can't answer the question But on top of it you mentioned Andrew Cuomo at first people are saying Kathy hochul was Andrew Cuomo two Now people aren't even saying anymore because they believe that she is that much worse For example every 30 days she was signing off on COVID emergency power self claimed unilateral not from the state legislature She just granted it herself New York has a competitive bidding law She suspended the competitive bidding law What did she do with that This will make even if you live in the other corner of America this is going to make all the hair stand up She gets a donation from a family $300,000 She ends up giving the company that this family runs And over 6 $100 million no bid COVID testing contract and paid over twice the going rate of the COVID tests
Ex-aide who alleged sexual harassment sues Andrew Cuomo
"A one time aid to former governor Andrew Cuomo sues him saying he tried to groom her for a sexual relationship and then smeared her reputation publicly Charlotte Bennett's lawsuit was at least the second to be filed against Andrew Cuomo after multiple women made sexual harassment accusations against the former New York governor forcing his resignation Bennett's lawsuit also named three former aides of Cuomo as defendants It seeks unspecified damages saying Bennett experienced anxiety depression and a neurological disorder after sexual comments by the governor spoiled her job In a statement Cuomo's attorney says he's always said he didn't harass anyone and with each day that goes by more and more information is uncovered showing how evidence favorable to the governor was suppressed Julie Walker New York
The Federalist's Emily Jashinsky on Shifts in Media Culture
"Think that any of this is going to change? I mean, Brian stelter is now flipping burgers somewhere. Cuomo is declared himself a free agent on social media despite the fact that nobody actually wants to hire him. Have you seen any trend any signals since you have the culture beat of the federalists that media culture is waking up or is it just the most woke of the woke are losing, but the institutions like CNN are still going to go down with the ship? The business model here is really an interesting aspect of that conversation because on the surface you do see some moves like at CNN, the new guy there, Chris licht, who took over for Jack Zucker, wants to make CNN the sort of global neutral brand again that's doing serious hard hitting foreign reporting. That's why stelter's out the window. That's why I didn't do it doesn't do Twitter doesn't really believe in Twitter for journalists and is trying to make all of these moves to reign in the coverage to tell his anchors to stop using the big lie, but it's not working. And the dynamic is so interesting because I think there are some older, more sober voices who lived through the old media period and have seen the transition and are horrified by it, but it's kind of too late because they've let it in the door. And they've let it in the door at a time when our media ecosystem is totally splintering. So The Old Guard is less powerful than it ever has been and people can cluster in these niches. The wine moms can watch Don lemon and lap it up and Stephen Colbert, but you know, you used to have Johnny Carson's writers sitting in Manhattan every night thinking, what is going to make America laugh? And that's why he was number one. And he was
Wade's Stance on His Son's Sex Change
"So Dwayne Wade is an NBA star. I don't know if he's as relevant as he used to be. I think he retired, so he retired now. Thank God. And now I guess he can focus on pimping his kid out to be a part of the LGBTQ community. But the report says that D wade petitions the court. He wants to petition the court to have his son's name legally changed to zaya from Zion. Wade also asked the court to issue a decree legally recognized that his son's gender has changed from male to female. Y'all know these deranged black folks and anti God idiots that are out here and the reason I say that because he's all over the black blogs and not all of them, not all the black people, but it's a lot of them out there for some reason. They praise and D wade and are you so stunning and so brave and I think it's absolutely ridiculous. I don't understand how a man can do his son like that. And I heard D wade explain in a barbershop conversation or something and he pretty much sounds so stupid that if I was his daddy, I would slap him in his head and tell him to wake up.
Do Students Need to See More People of Color?
"I think this gentleman name is Alex Barron's berenson. I think that's his name. He was, he was kicked off the site, kicked off a Twitter, and he sued them. And it says that Alex berenson is back on Twitter after being banned for nearly one year over COVID-19, misinformation. Last week, the former New York Times reporter settled his lawsuit against the social media company, which admitted errors and restored his account. And in quotes, the First Amendment does not apply to private companies like Twitter, mister berenson wrote last week, and he says, but because the Biden administration brought pressure to bear on Twitter, he believed that he has a case that is constitutionally rights that his constitutional rights were violated.
Do Students Need to See More People of Color?
"People of color, the students need to see more people of color. It's like, no, more people of color need to venture into these particular work environments. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't believe that lack of diversity has to do with somebody's restrictions. It has more to do with decision making. Young black women aren't going into teaching like white women are. Because if they were, then why is the black woman up there talking? How did she get in the door? They just sit up there and they say, oh, we only hire one black person a quarter. I mean, I just doubt it. Are you qualified? You can't walk around sounding like Sinéad and think you're gonna get a job somewhere. This is not the world of make believe. You need to be articulate. When you're young, you need to teach your children how to articulate their senses as well. Annunciate their words. It's not being white. You need to be proper. You need to have proper English. That's the language that we speak in this country. We don't speak ebonics.
Saying Good Bye to Brian Stelter
"So we got a clip because Brian stelter, I'm a wait on LeBron still to story. So if you haven't heard Brian stelter was rumors that he would be fired from CNN. Of course, Cassini and suck their ratings suck all these people suck. And when Trump was in office, they made money off of bash and Trump every day. And now that they don't have nothing to talk about, but a crippled old man stumbled into the podium every day. They don't have the ratings and so they getting rid of people. But matter of fact, let's do it now so I'm talking about him and then we'll move on. Let's go to the clip. It's about a minute and 20 seconds. I may not play the whole clip, but I want you to hear Brian stelter and maybe this is an indication of how he ended up getting fired, wrote a clip. It is getting worse. Being clear about the threat to democracy is one of the most important things that American journalists can do. Reducing a liar's reach is not the same as censoring freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is different than freedom of reach. I think we're going to look back someday and say, wait, they tried to ban the 1690 like we're going to look back. We're just going to, it's going to make no sense in 30 or 40 years.
Rainbow Colored Fentanyl Pills Pour Over Southern Border
"Rainbow colored fentanyl pills pour over southern border, hitting American cities. I don't know if you've seen pictures of these pills. They literally a multi colored pills and a fentanyl pills. I think at least two or three dudes that I went to school wouldn't play football with die from OD and over fentanyl pills. Now they won't say they did. Oh, the person died in the hotel. I know what Don in the hotel is. They won't tell you out of respect for the family or whatever, it's not suicide. It's more than likely because I knew the guy in school, more than likely he was taking fentanyl pills and he got a hold of some bad stuff. And it says that the pills resemble candy and sidewalk chalk pouring over the southern border. Resembling candy in sidewalk chalk. Pouring over the southern border are plunging cities nearby. Are plaguing cities nearby. I see what they're saying. It looks like it looks like candy or chalk that you can write on the sidewalk. That didn't make any sense. I don't know who ever wrote that sentence. I need to go back to English school. Or maybe go to my public school. So they can help people like me understand how they write the English like that. Over 15,000 rainbow color fentanyl pills that look like a small piece of candy were seized Wednesday after authorities found a deadly drug just strapped around the person's leg, deadly drugs dropped around a person's leg at the nogales port of entry at the United States Mexico border in Arizona.
Florida's Voter Fraud Problem
"I didn't get to talk about this yesterday, but Ron DeSantis announced that voter fraud charges will be filed against 20 floridians. I don't even know if they're not even lyric for idiots. They're illegals voting in the election. So according to the article of just now news, it says it is not just, and this is from Ron DeSantis is not just 20 arrests, that this has opened up a can of worms. There's going to be more people that are going to be arrested and connected to these voter fraud enterprise. It's just other 20 facing charges most have prior convictions for murder or sexual assault. Which bars them from voting under Florida law, though they nonetheless cast ballots in the 2020 election. Let me continue to read. It says now this is one of this is only one class of voters that we know have violated the law. He went on. There are investigations going on into people that have voted in two different jurisdictions, and I am imagining that you are going to see prosecutions on that. We also have folks who are voting who are illegal aliens.
"cuomo" Discussed on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah: Ears Edition
"Of chris wilma epic news brown. Christopher charles cuomo was born in queens new york to an immigrant family with the boundless appetite for pasta and politics. That's my pop. Mario cuomo former governor of new york. He spoke for years about his italian heritage in the struggle. To make it here that led to not one but two men holding the highest seat in the greatest thing. The komo's left their tiny villages up in the hills and came down to the tyrrhenian see but when they looked out they didn't just see open water. They saw their future america. Ooh someone's been doing their duo lingo. Chris was a child at the city. He graduated from the school of hard knocks and got a law. Degree on the knees streets of manhattan. Chris could've used his family name to go into politics but that wasn't his style instead. He used his family name to go into tv news. His old man was heartbroken when he went into journalism. Well sucks for you dad. Because little chris was going to journalism harder than any journalist had ever journalist before. I am here at the one and only the grand canyon. This is the largest protected marine area in the world. You can see these flames there up to a thousand degrees coming at us now. Looks cooler than i do right now. Nobody epic bro. Did woodward and bernstein ever bungee jump off a skyscraper. I don't think so. But cuomo dreamed of being more than just the evil knievel of our brokers. He wanted to do something important. So in two thousand thirteen. He wiped down his equipment at good morning america and moved to cnn where he was soon given his own. Primetime show applies. He earned through talent and hard work. The same way any other member of a powerful political family would have and it was there that he perfected the greatest skill. A news broke in half bullying people like a coach on the biggest loser. I know you don't get the company off. it's my show. Listen you'll never drown me out brother. It's my show. And i'm loud as hell especially when i'm righteous you tell me how a president has got time for this bullshit. Are you kidding me. Sad what toys what happened to me. I'm selling you are selling you telling killing that. I'm talking about the president will call you a liar. The one who said you're right. I mean you sound like an idiot so there's not much to say but tony good luck with it. So you damn chris. Cuomo show has more beef than his kito diet. Chris had reached the mountaintop but he was still missing. One thing every.
"cuomo" Discussed on Slate's Double X Gabfest
"Welcome to the waves. Slates podcast about gender feminism and governors. Who have to give back there. Emmys every episode. You got a new pair of women to talk about the thing. We can't get off our minds and today you've got me. Susan mathews news director of sleet and the editorial director of this podcast. That you're listening to right now. And you've got me christina ricci. I'm a senior writer at slate. And host of the sleet. Podcast outward hi christina. I'm so excited to be here thinking. Yeah under very unfortunate circumstances given the topic. We're discussing almost always unfortunate circumstances so today we're going to be talking about andrew. Cuomo who left the governor's mansion in new york this week after a month long investigation into accusations of sexual harassment from several former. Staffers that investigation yielded a report that was so damaging the even cuomo who has been weathering scandals by simply toughing them out for years and years couldn't keep doing it. I'd like to talk through. Wyatt took so long until all of a sudden it didn't for him to leave. Step down and i'd also really liked to talk about what this particular sequence of events could and should teach us about where me too is right now and lastly we're going to talk about a part of this scandal that i actually think is the most interesting and fascinating aspect of all of this. Which is the effect that cuomo's exit has had on time's up which is named pretty glitzy organization that launch soon after the metoo movement itself and is headed by many famous women one of whom had to step down in the wake of the cuomo's scandal and we're going to get into all of that in a minute so i think the reason i've been interested in this case specifically is because i think that we'll be able to unpack some of the questions that i've had for a while like is journalism still enough to take down a bad man. Should it be. And how much are women. Getting blamed for their efforts to further. Meet you even though. Men are obviously much more universally the perpetrators of sexual violence and harassment christina. Why did you wanna talk about andrew. Cuomo i feel like we've talked a lot personally about the more thorny questions around me to which is basically what happens now when accusations come up what comes next but i've also been kind of stuck in a thought spiral about this cuomo stuff Because no one is walking away from. That governor's office unscathed. And i think that is true of a lot of instances of workplace sexual harassment. It implicates everyone. Everyone who's victimized by who is left wondering did they provoke. Did they respond firmly enough to stop it. Everyone who witnesses it. There are always people in the workplace who have to decide whether they want to risk their own careers to try to. Hold the perpetrator accountable. Especially in politics. It implicates everyone who has been an ally to the perpetrator which politicians always have plenty of allies. People who have told themselves in some cases like perhaps the women who lead times up that the ends justify the means they're gonna maybe decide to align themselves with an imperfect leader because he could possibly do some good and help advance their cause. So that's why we're seeing the aftershocks of the komo investigation touch a lot of seemingly unrelated corners of progressive politics and seemingly unlikely corners. I would say yeah definitely cuomo. Like kind of proactively used feminists legislation and all kinds of things as a defense mechanism for a really long time. So i think. I think.
"cuomo" Discussed on Today in Focus
"For a girlfriend. He was propositioning me for sex and clearly something has to happen. Coma began his self defense machine. He put it into motion again denials. I have heard charlotte and her lawyer simply put. They heard things that i just didn't say but that wasn't enough in the end. The attorney general of new york state Who is the top prosecutor in the state. Code letitia james. She ordered an official inquiry into what had happened. My when along with that and said he would cooperate with inquiry. Anyway do nothing to stand in. Its way and that's where we are from march through to last week awaiting while the inquiry would find. I don't think that many people who are well versed in cuomo who who thought inquiry would do anything other than what it did which is to cooperate the complaints of the now eleven women because they had two extra women came forward with allegations for the inquiry less cheesy. That report came out all one hundred sixty five pages of it. What did it conclude it. Run through the accounts of the eleven women. I'm built up incredibly consistent. Persuasive narrative about komo's behavior and it contained a range of behavior for instance the events in the car which we began talking about and which state trooper why. She wasn't wearing a dress. You could just as relatively mild that very same state trooper said that he had a run the palm of his hand across his stomach from a belly button to her hip where she had a gun strapped in a way that made a feel in her was completely violated. And there were other instances of unwanted touching inappropriate comments about women's private lives and in one of the most shocking incidents. A foam executive assistant said that he had put his hand up her blouse and grabbed her breast. He walks over. Shut the door came back to me. And that's when he put his hand up my blouse and coach my breast over my bra. I exactly remember looking down seeing his hand which is a large hand thinking to myself. Oh my god this is happening. It happened so quick. He didn't say anything. When i stopped it he just pulled away and walked away so the allegations cover the gamut. They run all the way from sexual harassment through to groping and unwanted touching of intimate body parts. The investigation found that governor andrew cuomo sexually harass current and former new york state employees by engaging an unwelcome and nonconsensual touching and making numerous offensive comments of us suggestive sexual nature that created a hostile work environment for women. I think is also really important to say that the report builds up this picture of a workplace culture which was talk second word used by the attorney general letitia james in which women felt. They would demeaned in various ways in which they were faithful to criticize Plane about what was happening to them. Because of possible retaliations and a culture in which further sexual harassment could flourish. And the the way that he sustained it over. So many is in such a kind of almost unassailable way surrounded by staf. -is scores of them both male and female several of him wet fame for many many years and none of them felt that they would or could do anything about it and is so by the time you finish reading the report you come out thinking. Wow this is a really devastating damning account. The independent investigation has concluded that governor andrew cuomo sexually harass multiple women and in doing so violated federal and state law. How did andrew cuomo in response to this report over the past several months. You've heard a number of complaints brought against me within a few hours. working posted. Video statement of himself lasts about fourteen minutes. People may look back on as one of the truly memorable political statements of our era because it was so strange. I do on occasion. Say chow bella. I mean on one level. It was incredibly predictable. He just rolled out the playbook of the powerful mine with his back against the wall. And we've had it. I'm teen times. It's denial. I want you to know directly from me that i never touched anyone inappropriately or made inappropriate sexual advances. It's tempting to reinterpret other complaints raised against me questions that have sought to unfairly characterize and weaponize everyday interactions that i've had with any number of new yorkers it was one of those stream lee partial apologies. I now understand that there are generational or cultural perspectives. That frankly i hadn't fully appreciated. I even went on to say that he was ordering sexual harassment training for his staff including himself and i brought in an expert to design a new sexual harassment policy and procedures and to train. The whole team myself included. I accept responsibility and we are making changes and he said it in such a way as to imply that maybe his stuff was misinterpreting pangs on and guilty of sexual harassment and not himself. The new york times published the front page. Picture of me touching a woman's face at a wedding and then kissing her on the cheek and then he he showed us this montage. Photographs froth himself and other people hugging on embracing it is meant to convey warmth. Nothing more which he claimed showed that it was just normal just the way he did. "Let's go back to the summer of two thousand nine hundred. Nineteen very powerful. People in society have been outed and exposed as having abused women andrew cuomo. Who's one of the most powerful democratic politicians in the us repeatedly with impunity for a long period of time towards the start of his third term as governor of the state of new york is campaigning. Hard for really significant piece of legislation that would make it easier for women to come forward. An object to sexual harassment in the workplace and cuomo sees this as fulfillment of his reputation as a champion of women's rights. Let's honor all the women who have suffered this a and endured this humiliation and let's actually change things but we now know that on the very next day cuomo was being driven to an official event by a female state trooper sort of state equivalent of the secret service and he asked why she wasn't wearing a dress and when she shocked and horrified by the question said well. It's because you have not put a gun. He pressed on and said why did she wear such dot colors. When they got to the destination she was taken aside and told that she should not report that conversation to anybody else that what it had stays in the truck so what we saw was signing a major new anti sexual harassment act and committing. I'll ghibli exactly the same kind of behavior that that act was designed to trap on the very next day. This was just one of many.

"Cuomo as i said at the top of the show today just about all of it probably critical will get get your answer on whether it's all critical or there's anything you want to sort of. Give him credit for here. But who is andrew cuomo. When did you sort of. I get a sense of your opinion of him in. How did that happen. Do you remember when when that first happened that you got to know him a little bit and an assessed him funny. I you know you know the cuomo name is basically what one hundred percent recognition in state. I'm trying to figure out when i actually got to note like what he stood for it. Was you know he was just always kind of in the background. I guess and then it was. It was maybe not until twenty. Fourteen is run with zephyr. teach out who Started saying what she stood for versus what he stood for that. I i really Kinda got engaged Well actually no. That's not true at all in the in the mayor's race let me go back to you and for When i was bill blasio cuomo kind of loomed large and In those in those very early days he was not terrible to build a bomb and it was hard to remember that now but he wasn't terrible. The bill blasios and then rate it was when we started to want to have universal pre-k and to tax the rich to do so That he really became aggressively against the blasios. I felt And then when dubois who actually won that fight fight. And i know it's hard to remember now that when me early days i like boise was popular and winning fights against the governor That was when he it. Just like i think. Put him into a rage and then everything. The blasios tried to do From that perspective. Like cuomo tried to undo. I remember even trying to get fifteen dollars minimum. You know minimum wage and their first response with against it and how it was terrible and then and then of course they were for it later but it was. It was definitely race in twenty fourteen. That i thought the contrast will really laid out there pretty well between like progressive and.

"They have hurting. There is so. And if you're gonna talk to your daughters about what you did and apologize. Why are you doing on national tv. Why do it at home. You doing on national tv because you'd like to use them as a political prop your disgusting. So he's always been disgusting. It's just now. The media's flipped from helping him own. Guess he's not going to be in power anymore. Let's pretend to be honest. Journalists are speaking in which we go back to corruption. Yes exactly so I let me just note that The person who will be stepping in After he resigns is the lieutenant governor. Kathy hokuto a fellow democrat and she will serve the rest of his term when the resignation becomes effective in fourteen days so he did give his two week notice. Very kind She will become the state's first female governor now. There was other cuomo related news today in the form of new reporting from ronan farrow This was published in the The new yorker So check that out for the full peace But here's what we learned about the possible obstruction of justice. That cuomo was involved in so in a previously reported. Two thousand fourteen episode cuomo called white house adviser. Valerie jarrett to complain about ben. Us attorney preet bihar behara And his investigation into cuomo's shuttered. Moreland commission probing political corruption. In fact he told jarrett quote. This guy's out of control and even said he's your guy. jared claims. She was a top advisor to obama at the time. She claims that she hung up the phone immediately. Once she realized that Cuomo was trying to get her to intervene in that investigation and immediately reported But the public didn't know about this until today. that is a serious offence. If democrats are going to talk about trump's obstruction of justice and he didn't fact engage in obstruction of justice based on the Muller report they should be equally upset and enrage there was obstruction of justice. Taking place in two thousand fourteen with cuomo and this investigation a really important point here guys and it might relate to. Why cuomo resigned today. I mean we had all these charges and well before this day investigation came in concluding you still fighting still fighting. But he steps down today after the ronan farrow piece. Is it related. I think it is partly related to why for two reasons number one. He realized this isn't gonna get any better. It's actually getting worse there. Uncovering more and more of my crime. She's if i stay longer. Maybe we'll find out what complete criminal i've been from day one okay but there's a second hidden part of that article that you should know about valerie. Jarrett is one of obama's top friends let alone ally and adviser. Okay valerie. jarrett would never give an on the record quote if it wasn't barack obama throwing andrew cuomo under the bus. So if you'd ask valerie jarrett before these scandals broke about the corruption issue. That's being reported by ronan farrow. The same exact information. I guarantee you. She would not have given you an on the record quote. She would've protected another corporate democrat. So she goes on the record with ronan farrow. Why because that's obama signaling establishment is done with you now you got to move along okay as so cuomo gets that message. Oh i have no. Allies left binds. Not on my side. Anymore pelosi's not on my side and now the obamas have left me. So i'm toast and i gotta go understand how that game is played media no friends or allies left and i think obama made the right choice. I mean that court detailing his sexual harassment of eleven different women is damning. What i find fascinating though. Is that the democratic establishment wasn't willing to abandon him as soon as we learned about the details of cuomo's administration intentionally misrepresenting the number of elderly people who had died in nursing homes based on the decisions that cuomo mate and goes to my point though. Those and bummer knew that all along. Yup they never revealed it until now so i'm glad they revealed it now so that we can get rid of cuomo right but they were covered up that corruption to the end of time. If they didn't think cuomo's now damaging to democratic brand or more specifically the corporate democratic brand. I mean if cuomo keeps up progresses by winning elections or the media might take the other side seriously. God forbid right so. I'm glad that they're throwing onto the bus. He deserves to be there but remember they kept it hidden this whole time about the corruption that they definitely knew about well. There's another angle to this story. That i think is worth discussing and it has to do with The people gallivanting around town pretending to be good guys when in reality they were aiding and abetting cuomo all along so governor andrew. Cuomo of new york has stepped down. He is resigning following state attorney general's report indicating that he had sexually harassed eleven different women. Now he was involved in other controversies that Probably wade into his decision to step down. But now we're learning about people within his orbit individuals who present themselves as fighters for the powerless who actually aided and abetted cuomo even when it came to the issue of sexual harassment so one of those people is The co founder of the legal defense fund. For time's up time's up. Of course is the organization that is supposed to be protecting women and representing them in cases of sexual harassment and sexual assault in the workplace now Roberta kaplan the chairwoman of times up in the co founder of its legal defense fund was one of several prominent figures whom the report. And i'm talking about the new york state attorney general's report on cuomo found to be involved in an effort to discredit one of cuomo's alleged victims and she has continuing legal ties to melissa derosa. A former cuomo aid accused of leading that effort. So the woman that we're talking about here is lindsay boylan and so once. It became clear that she was going to speak out against cuomo and his sexual harassment. That's when all of a sudden the media had access to her files from cuomo's office and all of a sudden you you see this effort to publish an op. ed letter. That signed by a bunch of people within cuomo's orbit speaking to what a great guy he is and how boylan is full of it basically. That was the point. it never got published. But a caplin provided.

"Are you ready for it. Are we ready. You're ready ladies and gentlemen. We got him goes down. Goes look We're gonna give you a lot of details here and one of the things. I want to preview for you. Guys is the how complicit the media was because that's written all over this story and especially on the issue of corruption and of course we didn't get him he got himself in these brave women came forward which two more women which led to the investigation is not like the media covered it in the first place There now part of a dog but another the other hand. There's some members of the media that are defending him today and talking about his political comeback porn. Cuomo can i mean they'd like him so much etc but in from a progressive perspective. We always knew he was correct. We proved it. We had receipts. We showed it to you over and over again but every time that a progressive ran against almost the center otherwise the press would come. How can we help you. Andrew cuomo we hear your. How can we help you we. How do we help you. So they are his major accomplice in the crimes that He committed and why he has stepped down today. So if you're a progressive is a great day in america today now. He would claim that he's stepping down for the good of the nation for the good of the electorate in And he does it while speaking to in a very slow and condescending way as if we're all morons but nonetheless here's more of his comment i work for you and doing the right thing is doing the right thing for you because as we say it's not about me it's about way know it's definitely about you and he also decided to lean on his three daughters during this announcement which honestly made me cringe but maybe you feel differently about.

"I can help now is if i step aside. And let government get back to governing and therefore. That's what i'll do just afternoon today. Andrew cuomo announced that he is resigning as governor of new york. This is coming a week after a state investigation found that he sexually harassed eleven women from the newsroom of the washington. Post this is post reports. I'm martine powers. It's tuesday august tenth at the same time that we're hearing this major news out of new york. There's also a crisis developing in afghanistan. Us troops are basically gone and now. The taliban is regaining control of the country. Way faster than people expected foreign leaders are scrambling to figure out what they can do to stop it later in the show. We'll talk about why. This is a defining moment for america's legacy in afghanistan but first we need to talk about cuomo. This is one of the most challenging times for government in a generation. government really needs to function today. Government needs to perform and wasting energy on distractions is the last thing that state government should be doing and i cannot be the cause of that governor. Cuomo's resignation is surprising because up until recently. He had insisted that he had done nothing wrong. But a report from state. Investigators said otherwise the contained several examples of unwanted touching including cuomo allegedly groping and executive assistant while hugging her and inappropriately touching a female state trooper that he arranged to have on his security detail. The report also said that cuomo's office unlawfully retaliated against an accuser. Just to be clear. Cuomo does deny some of these allegations in my mind. I've never crossed the line with anyone. Just a few minutes. After cuomo finished his resignation speech we talked a reporter. Michael shear about what finally pushed cuomo over the edge and what this could mean for his future politically and otherwise. He's going to leave office in fourteen days. His lieutenant governor. Kathy hotel will take over and there will be a regularly scheduled election in twenty twenty two for the next governor to take office and being of twenty twenty three. What did he actually say. In this announcement he went over once again. A lot of the defenses. He has previously put forward the eleven women who've accused him of various types of harassment. Those include that he did not understand. Generational changes in what behavior was acceptable. I have slept and called people. Honey sweetheart and darling i meant it to be in endearing but women founded dated and offensive that certain behavior by him that was never meant to be sexual was misinterpreted. I kissed a woman on the cheek at a wedding. And i thought i was being nice but she felt that it was too aggressive that some of the allegations against specifically the improper touching of women who are just false denied continues to deny those but then he said that at this moment his job was to look out for the people of new york and it was in the best interest of the people of new york for him to step aside given that it seems almost certain that the new york assembly is going to move forward very quickly with impeachment articles against him. And there's a very good chance that he would be removed from office by the state senate. It'd be a protracted process but but there wasn't much hope for him surviving that well i think so. Many people are very shocked by this news. And i think part of that shock is the fact that cuomo didn't even seem to consider resignation as a possible option until recently i wasn't elected by politicians. I was elected by the people of the state of new york. I'm not going to resign. Even though the president and the state senators were all speaking out against him. So what happens like why is this resignation coming. Now after. so much protracted pressure. I think we're sort of at the last moment here. All other options had basically been exhausted. His top aide. Melissa derosa who is sort of running point on him through his response to all of these allegations for six or eight months now resigned on sunday night all of his senior advisors according to our reporting were telling him there was really no hope of surviving the scandal. At this point there are a number of public polls that showed pretty large margins of voters in the state of new york wanted him. You know thought he'd done something wrong and a majority wanted him to leave office so i think he waited as long as he. Could you know the the option he still had left was to mount legal defense in a political impeachment process in the state of new york and almost certainly that wind of succeeded. It would have been a painful process for him. It would have reared all of these accusations against him. It would have kept him in the news for probably months. And you know. I think he calculated this point that that just wasn't worth it any wonder how much of this decision goes beyond the accusations of sexual harassment. That for years. Cuomo has been known as a bully has been alienating to other politicians and i wonder if this resignation is a recognition that he doesn't have allies in his moment of need i think he had run out of allies quite a long time ago. I mean everyone. From president biden to you know the two senators from new york to majority of the congressional delegation to a majority of the state assembly to even people who he had worked closely with with in feminist circles and women survivors. Groups had all called on him to resign in in really no uncertain terms and that it started quite a while ago it. You know it is interesting that you're right. He was a bully and he used that as part of his sales pitch to the state of new york for years with some success. He said i'm a bully. But i'm a bully for you. I'm gonna fight for new york. He called himself new york. Tough there's certainly a lot of bullying behavior documented in this report by the new york. Attorney general but what really changed you know. The calculation for the political universe. Here was that the bullying behavior was overlapping with clear sexual harassment and that the victims of the bullying behavior. Were you know younger. Women sometimes executive assistance or people he just met on rope lines or more junior employees of the state of new york and that and that really changes one thing to go after a political rival as part of the political game. It's another thing to be making the people who are working closely with you. Feel as uncomfortable as he did So now that he's going to be resigning. What does that mean for him for the feature i mean are there other investigations or possible charges. That could still be facing him. Yes there is several criminal investigations that are ongoing and i don't think his resigning will end those right away. It may take some of the pressure off the prosecutors in those cases but there's a federal investigation into his handling of nursing home deaths in the state. Several state district attorneys have opened investigations into some of the specific claims. That were made in the attorney. General report there is still an investigation being conducted by the judiciary committee in the assembly. New york it's not clear what's going to happen to that now And that investigation notably went beyond just the harassment allegations. It included claims that he'd given preferential treatment to cove in nineteen tests to people including members of his family claims about the nursing homes and claims that he'd used state resources to help write a book last year during the covert nineteen pandemic So we'll have to see how that investigation goes. It is possible that the new york assembly goes forward with impeachment. That the senate convicts him in that case you know. The legislature does have the power to ban him from ever holding office again in the state of new york. Although at this point. I think it's just too early.

Now is the time to act. This is sue. Craig investigative reporter for the new york times. People keep secrets we all do. But it gets tricky. When it's a person with significant power and the secret is big say a conflict of interest government corruption or covering up abuse when it comes to violations of the public trust unethical or illegal activity. People's lives are affected. We believe you deserve to know but people with a lot of power also have the means to make sure their secrets stay hidden so you need organizations like the new york times to say. Let's investigate this. Let's put resources behind uncovering the truth. And that's what i do. It's a twenty four seven commitment and it means that sometimes. If you'd like to support this kind of work you can subscribe at ny times dot com slash subscribe sushi. And you said that for andrew cuomo to ever leave office. He would need a shove from albany translate that. What exactly does that mean. We'll look joe. Biden can put incredible political pressure on andrew cuomo. But what he can't do is actually remove him from public office Andrew cuomo either has to do that himself by resigning or the state legislature in albany can do it for him through an impeachment process and in albany. The impeachment process starts in the state assembly. Just as it starts in the house in dc by entering in our last conversation we talked about the relationship between governor cuomo and state. Legislators in albany and my recollection is that it is not very good. Not very good is an understatement. There are few lawmakers with a real close relationship to andrew. Cuomo most have been at the receiving end of his bullying in vindictive behaviors. They've described it and that even when there are successes even when he signs their bill he takes credit for them and leaves them behind and so on tuesday afternoon. After this report came out the assembly got together for an emergency phone. Call to figure out what to do next in on that call. There wasn't a single lawmaker. Who voiced their support for andrew cuomo according to multiple people i talked to it just wasn't there and while he has a bad relationship overall with lawmakers he does have some pockets of support in there have been some groups of lawmakers who had said. Let's wait until we have the results of investigation who had joined the stampede calling for his resignation this spring but even those lawmakers didn't speak on his behalf on that phone call and in the hours since a number of them have issued statements. Saying it's time for him to step aside and the most important voice among these assembly. Democrats is their leader. A- lawmaker him. Carl hasty who'd been among the people giving cuomo time saying let's wait until the results of this investigation came in and then late on tuesday. He issued a statement and he didn't pass his own judgment on andrew cuomo but he said that the governor had lost the confidence of the assembly democrats and that quote he can no longer remain in office. Any promised to quickly begin the process of impeachment. So the lawmaker. Who would be in charge of an impeachment process that could result in andrew. Cuomo being removed from office is now putting out a statement saying it's time for him to leave office. Which would seem to imply a threat. Leave or you'll be impeached. And there's a lot of focus on this statement in even the adverbs. The carl hasty uses. He says that they will move expeditiously and quickly. And there's a real question of what does that mean. Are we talking days or weeks or months. And the broad sense it. The assembly will still take a few weeks at a minimum to wrap up their investigation into the allegations against cuomo so it's increasingly looking like impeachment may happen to andrew cuomo absolutely right because i guess the question at this point is what would prevent a new york state. Democratic lawmaker from voting to oust andrew cuomo their president has called for their congressional colleagues in washington have called for their leaders within the legislature. Have signaled that it should happen. So what would keep one of these lawmakers from alliston cuomo. Would it be because of his name his family's legacy would it be because of his reputation for retaliation or what you know i. I wouldn't underestimate the rare -ness of members of a party ousting a chief executive of their own party and so the idea that democrats alone would provide all of the votes to remove a democratic governor. Who by only a few months ago was overwhelmingly popular. Who still has millions of dollars in the bank to bankroll's on political future and who is shown history vindictiveness while they may not like him and they might be prepared. It doesn't make it an easy vote. Take right it's one thing to threaten it. It's another thing to actually cast that. Vote to impeach a leader of your party. it's one of the most severe votes lawmakers overtake. I'm curious shane. How these lawmakers and how cuomo are thinking about the voters. because i'm remembering our first conversation about cuomo's belief that the voters were going to be his lifeline. That regular new yorkers weren't ready for him to leave office. Do you think that these lawmakers are thinking about that and are they worried that their appetite for impeachment might not be aligned with the views of new yorkers. Wasn't it safe to say. The democratic politicians right now in new york have a greater tight for.

"From the newsroom of the washington post this is post reports. I'm maggie penman sitting in for martin powers. You will still hear her later in the show. She taped a conversation about a question she had is. Nbc ruining the olympics. Coming in hot That's coming up later. We're going to also start answering some of your questions about the delta search it is a surge that we haven't really seen the likes of since february but on this wednesday august fourth one of the biggest stories is the fallout from an announcement yesterday afternoon from new york. General letitia james. The investigation found that governor andrew cuomo sexually harass current and former new york state employees by engaging an unwelcome and nonconsensual touching and making numerous offensive comments of a suggestive sexual nature. Earlier this year. Three women had come forward and publicly accused the new york governor of sexually harassing them. A lot hazrati covers media for the post. He eventually referred the allegations to the new york attorney general and she launched an independent investigation back in march. And what we heard. Yesterday were the findings of months of investigating by an outside probe essentially they interviewed one hundred seventy nine individuals including the governor his inner circle as well as the accusers and they poured through thousands of documents as well. And what other significant things did this report find. This report essentially found that not only did the governor sexually harass eleven people including current and former state employees but also that he created a hostile work environment for women and that violates state and federal law. It's a really damning report. It substantiated several of the allegations and also sort of painted a portrait of an abusive in retaliatory. Office crying to kind of get back at some of those who step forward The report also sort of gives us more details into how the governor and his inner circle were trying to scramble and figure out how to respond publicly to these allegations when they came out earlier. This year we're talking february and march including text messages and email. So people really could see how they were communicating about this and on tuesday president biden called for governor cuomo to resign. But first i'd like to start with the news of the day given back in march you said that if the investigation confirmed the allegations against governor cuomo then he should resign. So we'll you now call on him to resign. Given the investigator said the eleven women were credible. Statement are now calling on him to resign. That feels pretty extraordinary for the president from his own party to call for that. I'm wondering has. The governor responded to any of that pressure. How has he responded to this report. After the report was released he put out a pre taped video message. I wish nothing but good for you and for all survivors of sexual assault and he also put out a document essentially that part included photos of him and other people hugging and kissing people at public events in part to demonstrate that. Oh you know. I'm just really affectionate and this is just how i am with everybody. I do kiss on the forehead. I do kiss people on the beach. I do kiss people on the hand. I do embrace people. I do hug people. He defended himself. Said that this is not who i am. I am a champion of sexual assault survivors. He did mention a couple of the accusers by name. But he's been kind of defiant as not indicated that he's going to step down. Even though many members of his party have called for him to do so he put that out before. The president said that he should resign. And that's just a follow through on what president had said earlier. About what the attorney. General in new york may find if she found this to be the case that he should resign that something that the president said that he would call for and so he did so chris. Cuomo the cnn anchor. Who is also the governor's brother. His name is also trending today. What's going on there. We already knew that chris cuomo had privately advised his brother and joined like a inner circle of people on how to respond to this back in february and march But now we know a little bit more about his involvement in this because the report details it. The report also includes interviews with chris cuomo now. Cnn provided wall to wall coverage yesterday about the report and the fallout interestingly enough. It was chris. Cuomo's colleague who asked president biden weather. Andrew cuomo should resign but the one place where it wasn't a big story was on chris cuomo's show primetime nine pm show. I'm chris cuomo. Welcome to prime time. We're focused on covert here especially until we get the delta variant under control and made no mention of whatsoever kind of going in line with what he has said previously about not being able to cover his brother and it's no surprise that he didn't mention it at all but he's actually involved in this huge major news story and may know sort of mention of it on air and it was rarely mentioned on cnn yesterday. That one of their big anchors is part of the story but away. I remember early in the pandemic. When chris cuomo was interviewing his brother the governor frequently on his show and it was very jocular and they made reference to the fact that they were brothers and two had this back and forth on. Tv picture dow. Pour it back up various. And here's why. I'm doing it for these guys because this is the guy who helped me shape who i am today. Look how. I was looking at him so lovingly. Back then i so how. Cnn defending this double standard. So cnn has previously defended. Those appearances saying there is a strict firewall. Chris cuomo does not cover his brother because of the conflict of interest but the pandemic was an extraordinary moment. people were dying. We're talking about the governor of the hardest hit state and so we made an exception in that case to allow them to talk about the pandemic and the response because it was a great human interest But you know. They faced criticism for allowing that especially in light of what's happened since so. What are you looking for next. Both from the governor but also from cnn. I think everyone's watching to see how the governor is going to respond to all of these calls for him to resign. This state assembly up there in new york. They are proceeding with impeachment proceedings. So we'll see. What happens there regarding chris. Cuomo and cnn. I'm expecting to see cnn. Still really go hard on this story but increasingly people are wondering. How is it that chris. Cuomo was not punished for advising the governor previously. Were how tenable. His situation is at the network But it looks like the network is standing by him. So i'm not sure whether this will pass for him or you know whether he'll will have to address it in some form or another.

"The congressional delegation several state lawmakers and the argument the pushback that you would hear was related to due process that was the talking point that a lot of lawmakers who are supporting the governor were using like let the investigation play out exactly that he was entitled to hear what the charges were against him and to be able to respond and it was among the interesting reactions today some of the individuals who were more. I would say generous or supportive earlier. This year started to take much more aggressive stands one reason some politicians may be reconsidering having cuomo's back is because this new report lays out so much more than just a. He said she said some of these allegations are corroborated. Many stories seem to show an abuse of power. The case of the state troopers a good example. The attorney general's report documents. How this young woman was hired for her job. After being spotted at an event by the governor the qualifications for her position were even altered so she could transfer to the capital despite the fact that she hadn't served the standard number of years for gubernatorial detail and once she got to her job. The harassment started in an elevator. While standing behind the trooper he ran his finger from her neck down her spine and said hey you another time. She was standing holding the door open for the governor as he passed he took his open hand and ran it across your stomach from her belly. Button to where the hip where. She keeps her gun. She told us that she felt completely violated. To have the governor toucher as she put it between her chest and her privates even staffers. Who weren't being sexually harassed thought their workplace was toxic and shared notes and texts. That revealed that they believed the governor's accusers. Part of the governor's defense. Is you know. I didn't intend to treat people in a certain way. They're seeing it in a way that i didn't intend which okay but then when you have all this documentation from other people in the workplace..

"Words have meaning and The attorney general said cuomo violated both state and federal law. But the word indictment never crossed the attorney general's lips i don't i don't know whether you should read it into that or not. Read into that Anyway the You know it's if in doing so. The actual words were a concluded that that cuomo sexually harassed multiple women and in doing so violated federal and state law. She said at a press conference. Her office noted however that there was no specific penalties tied to the report Apparently they had one hundred seventy nine witnesses. When cuomo gave a statement today you know he. The one photo that i think is became. Most notable in this case was at a christmas party of him holding the face of a young staffer and kissing her odd. I don't remember if it was on the lips or the cheek. I don't remember so then. He did a montage of him doing that. men and women you know over the years and saying that it didn't mean anything by it at all You may i'll flash back here. President biden it said in an an april interview with abc. That cuomo should resign if sexual misconduct allegations are confirmed to be true and remember the the person that was leading the strongest case against justice. Cavanaugh i remember every one of those charges you know. They just fell by the wayside. You know just fell apart And you know especially some of the more outrageous claims. Oh when he was in high school they would you know spike the drinks and the young men would line up every other weekend in the hall and and take terms turns. You know raping these young women that was set at the time anyway. So here's what biden said at.

Chuck schumer and senator kirsten gillibrand calling for governor cuomo's resignation stating that. He lost the confidence of the people of new york. Confronting and overcoming the co-. You know it goes on and on and on do multiple credible sexual harassment misconduct allegations. It is clear. Governor cuomo has lost confidence Of the governing partners of the pitch of the people of new york governor cuomo should resign. Listen i'm not assigning any any motives to anybody. I just know how democratic politics work in new york especially. It's a very tight knit group. And and you have a lot of personal ambitions that sometimes go into all of this. But i i'm surprised. They did it swiftly. And that that that's a problem for governor. Cuomo never mind. On top of the attorney general you know very aggressively looking into the nursing. Home scandal Apparently there is a i. It's a short apparently recording of of the governor. You know singing lines to Then aid charlotte bennett calling him. A you know y nine one minute nine second audio clip of him singing you know. Do you love me to this aid. she said not never heard of before and then he continued singing so i i don't know where that what that means or how it goes. "Tv and radio. I just. i don't feel comfortable doing that. I don't think it's responsible. I'm not a doctor now. I've seen the worst of this. That's why i say take it seriously you know it was i remember jimmy kimmel when i said i don't mind wearing the stupid mask. If it's gonna protect older people i know it's going to be short live and i know that you know i would never wanna know that if i was symptomatic and had this this thing that i could have impacted somebody that would have a hard time with it or even worse so you know what i wanted i wanted arenas opened up. I want concerts again. I want games again along less interested in sports. Now i'm a scotland. So bad at the olympics i mean. It was so sad to see when the the woman soccer team lost. I think they lost to canada. You know i mean. James showed me like things that were being set online. I just was like. It's sad that because politics is brought into sports. Now people you know share when america loses. I don't. I don't want to ever have to cheer for america. Losing they take the most unifying moment a shared passion for sport and home team and they're adding politics to it. It's so dumb. You know everybody's trying to escape some of that which is why people love and have a passion for their home team and whatever sport it happens to be all backgrounds. All races high-fiving sharing popcorn buying beers. You know and the hotdogs together right let me go to the cuomo thing and let me explain. So he has his press conference today. The new york state attorney general Latisha james has confirmed in her report. He gave eleven hours apparently of testimony that andrew cuomo is a serial. Sexual harasser bipartisan pressure. This is where. I'm now watching an because i didn't they would happen to be blunt. It's it's just if if you are a republican if you're a conservative you know you you you better not jay walk or spit on the sidewalk because if you do they wanna put away for life and i mean that especially you have no idea how the the the the meticulous detail i just assume my taxes pulled every year so i have my first accounting team come in and then based on the recommendation of my lawyer i use his accounting firm to come in behind them and i paid twice to do it again and the instructions of very clear from me and my lawyers pay it. Don't take it you know if it's questionable in any way meaning the deduction and it's because i just understand how this this game is played. I mean really. We still haven't gotten the derm report you have the exact same referrals made against top. Fbi officials referral by the inspector general. Horowitz you know. In the case roger stone manafort et cetera. And roger. stone's case. What do you get you get a predawn raid guns drawn. Thirty guys in tactical gear frogmen and cnn cameras for the you know incredible crime of lying to congress which is exactly what the inspector general said top people the fbi to have done what happened in those guys. They didn't have a predawn raid cnn cameras. They're making a ton of money and getting hired by you know liberal news networks and writing books that you know. Hey donald trump. So i just you know i just i run my life accordingly anyway so the new york post has the latest update on this as now lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are calling on. Governor cuomo resigned following this one hundred and sixty five page report released by the state attorney general james on tuesday confirming that.

"If you made as part of your feet at industry masseuses out there from spotify to i tunes and if you like what you hear please consider giving us a glowing five star review on itunes. If you don't like what you hear here please for get said anything. So jim geraghty bombshell news at a new york this morning recording early tuesday afternoon we get one hundred and sixty five page report on andrew cuomo's sexual harassment and at nails him to the wall. It is damning what he make it yet. We knew the report was coming We knew that. Just james the attorney general of new york who many conservatives and optically fond of but was also something. They rival to cuomo a lot of people think she has gubernatorial aspirations of her own that she you know had incentive to not all any bunches and her assessments and also interesting andrew cuomo who had begun this best as any investigation is going to completely exonerate me. You know all kind of stuff. All of a sudden started talking about how the investigators couldn't be trusted. Which is you usually a good sign. He knew something bad was well. The assessment attorney general's pretty much devastating quote. The independent investigation has concluded that governor andrew cuomo's sexually harassed multiple women and doing so violated state and federal law. She said cuomo engaged. Unwelcome nonconsensual touching. In addition to dissect suggestive sexual comments. All of this created a hostile work environment for women They said that the the investigators independently corroborated substantially the facts interviews and evidence including contemporaneous notes. Communications and all. This is made public long support. Wait you you those you're saying. Oh my goodness this is about as bad as it gets. No no it gets worse because we also in some of these supporting materials. We learned that. Chris cuomo primetime anchor for cnn. Drafted a statement for his brother early on in this scandal that knew that he was involved in strategy sessions. We didn't know quite literally. Cnn's primetime anchor was helping andrew. Cuomo right up what he was going to say in response to this stuff. I'm trying. This is about as devastating a top to bottom assessment as i can imagine any investigator finding this. You're already hearing these. These kind of weak t. Oh it's time for the governor to resign. Look we all know under cuomo's knocker reside. There's not there's nothing in his character. Nothing that he's if i'm wrong i'll actually somewhat like pleasantly surprised. But they're this. There's no reason to think andrew cuomo is going to resign. The only proper response to this is impeachment and my understanding. At least as we are starting to tape. This is the first comments from new york. State democrats are wow. This looks really bad. He really should resign and without any further indication that they're willing to impeach the governor over utterly unacceptable behavior by the way we haven't even gotten to the giant pile of senior citizens because of komo's orders to nursing homes so zan. If if you're cuomo seems like playbook is pretty obvious is what you've been doing all along. Absorb these hits. Try to explain away to the extent you can although this is an important new juncture for cuomo. Because this is jim refer to. He was saying he's going to be vindicated. This is not a vindication so have to come up with with some other excuse or explanation and then just hope you know impeachments hard. I need to re familiarize myself with the how the procedure works and new york. But it's complicated. And i don't think impeachment anywhere is particularly easy so just hope that that fizzles out or comes up short and you don't get a primary opponent. And somehow people get bored and average democrats in new york state. Stick with you the way they have so far. Yeah i mean. I think that that cuomo has already shown us how he's going to handle this because it's the same way. He handled all the allegations. That were coming out. I guess a few months back now. and it. You know the idea there was well obfuscate. Say i didn't realize it was making people uncomfortable. Refused to resign just kind of ignore the multiple prominent democrats calling on you to resign in. Just hope people on the news cycle moves on and in fact. That's exactly what happened. And i guess at that point he did have the advantage of saying something like well. You know. further investigation will show that. I didn't do anything wrong in this further investigation. Now is showing that actually. He did much more wrong than we thought. But this is an The other stuff was plenty bad. I guess is the best way of putting it. It's not as though we didn't have any reason to think he did something wrong. Until this report and yet before everyone kind of just gave up and let him go about his business and stop talking about it Plus i think he has. The advantage of a lot of democrats Are going to look like idiots if they turn on him and really try to impeach him or whatever else A lot of democrats have a lot of skin in the game. I guess when it comes to treating andrew cuomo like a hero especially over his handling of cova despite the whole nursing home debacle and everything else. One could argue. He did wrong Everybody on the left had a lot. i guess has a lot at stake now because they spent all this time saying look andrew. Cuomo look at new york. They've done everything right. While red states and republicans have done wrong which was always ridiculous narrative But it does not mean that to turn say actually. Hey maybe andrew cuomo isn't a hero and this stuff is really really bad. is a lot harder for people who have spent the last year acting like he's god's gift the united states i think it's imperative that we hold everyone involved in this to the standards that they have laid out for other people. Andrew cuomo ages ago tweeted. There should be a zero tolerance policy when it comes to sexual harassment and must send a clear message that this behavior is not tolerated. Furious later he oversaw to great fanfare. A revision of new york's laws in this area that among other things made it much more difficult to say while. I didn't realize that i was making anyone feel uncomfortable. Joe biden who is appalling on the question of ju- purse in this area until he himself is accused of sexual assault is currently trying to strip ju- process protections from college students. He has a history of saying he's on the side of survivors that we must believe people who come forward reflexively his trying to undo the changes that betsy devos made.
