"The horrors of children suffering, how perhaps freedom isn't good for us, and perhaps would be better off as slaves or automata. And for him, the answer is simply that love is real, love is embodied. That there is never a human situation, which is without hope. And part of what he's trying to speak about is not. Again, something that makes suffering less important. It's really to put into relief just how much love just how much profoundly sacrificial love is called out from us in a world where suffering is so deep and so appalling. So that's part of what he's trying to do. He's inviting us to think what it might mean as he likes to say, to take responsibility for the world we're in. And all his great novels are in one way or another about that taking of responsibility. And the characters who are for him, rather fishy, rather unsatisfactory, the characters who one way or another walk away from that responsibility, the characters who try to manipulate other people and control them rather than take loving responsibility for them. The characters who brush it all off and live for pleasure and self so his novels are a very deep. Gospel shaped challenge for I mean, first of all, I'd like to say, I think that's what absolutely magnificent. If you have a chance to follow the link on our website, watch the whole speech because it's brilliant. But I'm not sure I agree with doctor Williams. Alex, how do you feel? I see what he's getting at, which I think so to sort of interpret it through notes from the underground. That it's a part of what makes it where book is it is fighting on a couple of different fronts. So you've got this question of the ego, which is absolutely central to the book. But it sort of keeps turning up in different ways and it's hard to know what to do with it. I think what he starts doing in the first section is, you've got all these young radicals who basically say, if we all knew how the world really was, to act in our rational self interest would just be would be to act in everyone's interest. And then we'd create this lovely world. And the image at the end of that terrible book I mentioned that what is to be done, the image the end with is this Crystal Palace and is made of the absolutely loves aluminum. So everything's made of all the fun, which was made of an aluminium so it was the same and glass and it's a bit like the sort of English Crystal Palace, which actually does just be a visiting absolutely hated..

"Think I think this is quite lenient from your way first. You know what? What I've been reading when I've read this stuff is that Wembley as always been a soft touch for people who do that digging in stuff. Always been a software. You get to Wembley, you're going to kind of dig in. And I think this for a certain fan and we know the family we're talking about that aggressive, drunk, fan who will go there and bully families body. I was in the stadium. You could see people see people holding their kids. You can see women like they could see the chaos in there. It was horrible to see, because Wembley, they've got a history. They've got a history of people bunking in. And a disruption at Wembley. And I think that the FA with everything was going on totally underestimated the caliber of fan. And people talk about yeah, well, we have to say yeah, but the pandemic and people hadn't been out, and it is no excuses. It's never really. It's never a nice excuses. No excuses. When you look back at it, Ryan, it was horrible to watch. But you know what's going to happen? Someone's going to go there. They're going to be roll out all the big name, big faces and this and that. And they're going to try and say, oh, that was a one off because of the pandemic because people hadn't been out because England were in a final the first time in 55 years. No excuses. There was no excuse for the way people acted. When you saw how our families were treated, people racially abused stewards under policing, and it's not the first time happened in the semis as well. The semis. So I believe that Brian for me should have got banned for more, and we should be playing behind closed doors for longer. Punishments like that, the same with the race or the beast stuff that we've talked about before. There's no point just half ice in the punishment. You have to make it a deterrent. And playing one game in the nation's.

"No. Even in real time, as soon as you saw it, I was just like, how the fuck is he still on the field? Yeah. Footballers have lightning fast reactions. So quick, right? What kind of soccer is hit the ball, but like what chest height played it away? Easily. Well up for it, yeah. So the ball's gone. Yeah, so you pull out pull out. But he doesn't. He doesn't commit to it and follows through with it. And it was really nasty. There was a nasty one. And you know what? To get a kick like that. It's fucking you can see. What is walking off? I said, I said he's not coming back. When he came, I said, anything coming out for the second half, because you got to talk about the strike that strike was full. He was going for a full volley. What do you think Patrick took him off for in the end? Took him off. It should have been sent off at some stage. He pulled down Emil Smith Rowe. You know, and sacker got pulled down got booked for like tripping somebody when there was going through. He got me. James the car pulled out Emerson fro didn't book him. And then he was able to get away with that. So you fixed yourself like I said to them last night, why is derma I have to come out here and whitewash the mistakes? Why can't people come out and explain to us why that wasn't a sending off so as we could say, oh, I see what you see. As much as palace deserves to win that game, you know, what's the officials doing? I'm not saying I'm scared. Graham Scott so you're not Peter's got Graham Scott. The other day, I mentioned, I'm getting names wrong. But I said, Christian father, instead of Lucian. It's just laughing to say, oh my God, why have I said Christian? Why have I got Kristen in my head? It's really strange, because I've done the Premier League yesterday than the game. And I was nervous. While I was talking, I felt like I was talking like this and when Steve bought was asking me the questions. I just felt like all the stuff that I was going, yeah, because they've done this and they've done that and what's going to happen is the pad has been enjoying. I'm going to Roscoe simply miss you saying what's wrong? Why are you so fast? I'm not sure I'm wishing for it's like I was trying to get all my knowledge into the first answer. "Instinctive and what he's all about if you get that ball in box. And I was saying to us, why aren't we keeping over as high up as possible, get the guys behind him to start pressing palace at sauce? Let palace play out. Let them try and play through a press because there was certain instances with palace where river is Macarthur or Miller voyage or they weren't quite getting that pass in. It weren't quite happening. So you just needed to be tight enough on them to take advantage of the mistake what may come. I think what we've done was, we kind of dropped off and said right, let them have possession and we'll try and see if they make a mistake in position, then we'll do it. Rather than forcing them into one, because what I saw with palace is that they got more and more confident as the game went on, I thought Joe wald it right back. Tarek Mitchell left back. What unbelievable? We couldn't get past them. Kieran Tierney was like anonymous in that game. You know, in the end, we kind of like, they kind of pushed on. You could see Gallagher if it was parte going in or if it was er degas going in whoever it was. He was following them in and making it very difficult for us to play out. And then what we done, we slowly just retreated more and more, even more so when we scored. And I was thinking to myself, we talk about palace team that are different they're thinking to themselves, oh, we're growing in this game. It's going to be a matter of time and only for some loose passes in that in the first half where palace could have had a lot more opportunities on our goal. And I tell you, I'm worried right, simply because from the first three games,.

"Like you said, I think he probably if I reckon if why it looks back at that this morning, I think he'll he'll be like, he'll pinpoint the point where he's like, that's crazy. Yeah. And I feel really sorry for our rum sto because he didn't have a chance. I don't think really. And he had made some unbelievable save. That saved from Calgary in the first half, just before a half time. He actually, you actually see him. When the ball goes out to Conor Gallagher, you actually see him take a PEEP over the bodies. I know. Did you see that? He takes a PEEP over the bodies. He hits it and he got across there. And I've got to say, I am so happy with him. People are trying to say well, go keep it like yesterday I was with Glen Murray, sibo never sent goalkeeper, I'm saying, well, not really, not from there, but simply because for me, the gap should have been tighter and by the time he's hit it and he's hit it. He's not lace this. He's kind of hit it knuckley. Yeah. Because, and it kind of made me in. It really flew, didn't it? And like your finger to yourself, well, out comes rems that didn't get it, but that's what happens with these balls if you catch them like that. They literally fly and so he was close enough and the power beating, but I was thinking again, he's made some saves where you're thinking he's he's getting better man. Yeah, he is. He's some of the passes, you see some of the pulses. What he was doing from his area. The thing that I've been quite impressed with him is that he seems to have learned like he had that one error against spurs where Jacques managed to get out of trouble. He seems to be comfortable enough that if nothing really is, if there is nothing on, he'll just go.

"On three and then look on the number of managed to get back in. Luis Luis was coming out around the backside calendar with Gallagher like carried on his ruin as well. If you actually like freeze it when Edwards on the edge of the bar. Arsenal are in a massive lane in massively bad shape. If you have that, if you saw the view behind the strike, there is a slight moment where I think edouard does this. He's quite clever here because I think he spots that Ben wise balance is slightly off. His slightly slightly on his heels because the strike essentially just he uses why as a bit of a decoy. He covers the rhinestones. It's an amazing strike though. But I think Ben white could why could have potentially done a little bit better, but also, it's one of those strikes that you're just actually fair Fox, sometimes, but a thing with right. They will pull that out. But they're going to pull it out if they're getting closer. Of course they are. Because remember, he's trying to get close, because for me, what I don't want there is Ben white to get closer to me. The problem I've got with it is that when he picked that ball up at no time, does this gap between him with the ball and Ben white backing off get closer in Ben white's favor. And I think that the closer he's getting towards the penalty box. It's just because of what I've seen. I see it in training with boldy with Tony with my Martin keon. They get their bodies in. If it means you have to get your closer and then let them do something to beat you. Let them do something to beat you because what happens is that there's no way of saint edouard doesn't think well I can shoot now because the gap doesn't get any smaller. No, there is no real gap. No, because for me, at some stage, Ben why it's gotta say, well, I've got to engage him. Yeah. And so when he took the shot, he was in the box. Yeah. I think that's the only thing. But I think Ben might did pretty much everything. Spot on apart from him. Do you think he held him up enough? Did he hold him up enough? I think he did initially, but then I think.

Liverpool's Mountain to Climb

"The big game in the premier league today. It was liverpool against chelsea liverpool. Losing one nil. They've now lost five straight home league games for the first time in club history. Stevie nickel how has it come to this. Oh my goodness well as being a slippery slope I remember sitting here. What thirteen games ago liverpool. It's operatives league they had west brom coming up at newcastle coming up. They had only coming up. And we're talking about who's gonna stop liverpool routine in this tale. Thirteen games live like the forgotten how to play a front three. It destroying any defense was from can seem t- holiday short and i mean one show on goal today whole tells you the problems liverpool have going forward and of course we can say is unlucky so only so many times defensively but when you've got an this game today to defend with experience of of alexander arnold and forbidden new causing the goal then you can excuse so listen a team that feting games ago was straightened towards the title has gotten to the stage where this is not a surprise. This is actually when the final whistle went today. I wasn't surprised because this team is playing like a team that struggling as getting results like a team struggling and guess wha the struggling and is going to continue. I don't see an end to done given the problems that they have indefens- should club using more pragmatic approach. Nine of the Ten Last Super Bowl Teams Have a Soccer Interest

"Piece about how the nine of the 10 last Super Bowl teams have a soccer interest, meaning they own one or partially own wonder controlling interest. Who else is involved in with that list? In that list. Well, well, you go back to the San Francisco 40 Niners were in the Super Bowl last year against the Chiefs. They actually just this week increase their equity ownership of leads. United from I think it was 15% of 37% spent up over 50 million English pounds Theo to do that. The Atlanta Falcons have been in a Super Bowl against the Patriots. Both of those teams have MLS stakes. The L. A Rams, who lost to the Patriots the following season. Their owner owns Arsenal on if you go further back beyond just the last five years, the Seattle Seahawks their owners own a piece of the MLS. Founders, But that's really the extent of it. It's more the last five. Six years where you've seen this trend before that, it was it was Seattle and the Patriots. The Patriots on the MLS is revolution that play at the same Stadium is the Patriots, and it's a It's not just the football connection. You point out two different multi team ownerships, right? The the owners of the Philadelphia 76 years on Crystal Palace, the team in the English soccer first division, right? And you're seeing this success force you're seeing multi Team ownerships, Uh, enterprises that owned more than just a team in one sport is sport. It's sports become big business. The ownership is crossing Not not just sports sports live boundaries but international boundaries. So, um, we'll probably see a lot more be more and more rare to see teams make the final finals of their sport. Just have that one holding new ownership group that that one team, I guess for. Some of these guys have some of these owners. Obviously you're super wealthy. It's fun. They they love sports. There's a part of that. Um, there are certainly owners who go at it that way. I mean, I think the new owner of the New York Mets see Cohen goes out and looks at it from this is fun. This is something I've always wanted to do. But when you Put together, uh, vast holdings across sports. It's more than just fun. It's a big business. Thanks. Dan Dan Kaplan, Sports business reporter for the athletic Coming up next. "A very good result for liverpool beating west ham. Three one in franklin booth with us steve. That was very impressive. Second-half performance report impressive. I i was quite impressed with illiberal plates for most of the game to be honest. The most impressive thing was that we have the return of mr mosala. "And we know that full soon the company that owns them will back them. They're probably gonna kick on an I that's got to be there in that's or else. What is this for? They are monied in a way that the other clubs aren't and they are already stretching their most against the top six. Meanwhile, from arsenal you look at it. And it's now back to back to feats against Crystal Palace against wolves. This is this is Everton the defeat only a couple of weeks ago. This is shocking stretch for them yet. It's interspersed with them taking apart Napoli the Europa league. That's the thing is you. I'm starting now. Look they are still full steam ahead for a spot in the top four. But they're avenue into a Champions League spot is now I would say almost equally split between doing it through the league and doing it through the rope leaks. Attention is probably fixed in two different places. Still that's not an excuse for how they've looked in these past couple of games against palace. The defending on the Christian Ben goal against palace over the weekend is just awful. They've got a lot of problems mainly in the back. I would say, right. But even even look at look at some of the characters that have popped up over over the last couple of days say, for example, on social media, the arsenal who got a lot of attention until ding from our own Craig Burley where he tweeted out the stats that suggest scored on Stathis had a pet her season than versus Van Dyke. You know, that was funny, you know, amusing, but he still at the club. You look at the guy who scored tonight Socrates he still at the club not up to it. Andrew they need to revamp and rebuild that entire defense. We've said that. Alright. Yeah. Look some of it though is not necessarily just on these players. It's also in the manager who selecting these players to play if you looked at the lineup that was out there for the Crystal Palace game. They're worse than head scratchers. Here's Paul mariner on ESPN FC talking about Emory's lineup choices this throw away game. So what does he do? He plays a young kid of Ripon us at the buck is not ready. So don't plan you've already go in my opinion of very pool by because Shelley kills me to say, he's been a fantastic. So just going over the little bit stuff is all over the place. Jenkinson the it was playing the kid Gwen dues going to be a good player. But he's not ready yet. So the so many things wrong with this with the settle. I wasn't sure is going to play for the, but it was going to play three. So and it came to pass because when you look at the first goal, okay? There's a guy called Christian. Ben tech is seventy four eight this guy, very very difficult. Not to mount this guy. Stuff. It gets the wrong side of a militia before the bulls comment is put his hand because he thinks been been take his off side. And as far as my stuff is concerned is but jenkinson's behind him playing everybody. Onside some what are these guys doing train it? It's embarrassing. Yes, fine. But this is something that's bedeviled arson Vangere in the certainly not who years of of the last decade. And also is now troubling Unum. Re-? He can't grow players. You know, he's probably put in one of the players that he mentioned there. He's probably paid him. Because he hasn't got any other options. You know, he's got a wit to the summer and even in the summer, go. He's got Eric coming off the bench trailer is not a defender. He's defensive center made is what I mean, my point to you is this Andrews that he's gonna have to dress this in the summer on what some of the contracts that are already tight Taito, including material. And also, I suppose that's where they're getting rid of Ramsey to free up some money. Let's see we look at some of the other top for that were in action recently Tottenham lost Manchester City over the weekend in a game where they actually played pretty well. You'll also earn two percent cashback at grocery stores and one percent on all other purchases. Now when you go out you cash in what's in your wallet? Welcome to brain stuff from how stuff works. Hey, brain stuff, Lauren Bogle bomb here. Celebrated paleo artist rate troll told us an Email shared passion for an obscure topic is what binds scientists and artists. They're both curiosity driven. And he would know based in Alaska troll builds on scientific findings to create art that depicts prehistoric life through paleo. Art, fossils are revived a single drawing or sculpture can define how the public will visualize an extinct species. So paleo artists strive to keep their work as accurate as possible. A task that gets harder. When experts disagree. It's a tough job to be sure, but also a dream job for loads of fossil fans and dinosaur enthusiasts. But how do they go about creating it? First off a little history dinosaur renaissance changed the game paleo art didn't always feature. Dinosaurs all pre stork organisms from early palm trees to Willie mammoths make worthy subjects nevertheless, the fascinating reptiles were at the center of. Significant period in the history of this artform called the dinosaur. Renaissance. A prior to the nineteen sixties dinosaurs were largely written off as dimwitted tail dragging hoax. Most paleo art from the early twentieth century reflects that view, but in nineteen sixty nine Yale paleontologist, John Ostrom published a new paper on Dino Nike's, an eleven foot that's three point three meter predator. Akin to the drastic park imagining of lesser raptor, noting its long legs and sickle shaped claws Ostrom claimed. Dana Nike's was an athletic beast who ran down its prey and might have even hunted in packs. A scientist went onto popularise now widely accepted idea, but today's birds are descended from Mesozoic dinosaurs, exciting hypotheses, like these changed the discourse about how dinosaurs looked and behaved in the nineteen seventies. And eighties a growing number of artists responded by illustrating, the creatures and active dynamic poses. What followed was renewed public interest in both the study of dinosaurs into paleo art itself. But there was a problem. Bare bones and skeletons often don't tell you a whole lot about the overlying soft tissue. Hence, some paleo artists have chosen to reconstruct animals reptiles in particular as linky beasts with ultra-low body, fat skinny tails and heads that are largely devoid of cartilage or loose skin. This practice has been called shrink, wrapping. And if you couldn't tell from the moniker. It's been contentious troll broke it down for us quote. I think there are some really valid points to be made about shrink wrapping many paleo artists reluctant to jump into more speculative reconstructions preferring to play it safer. So by keeping their animal's lean and mean paleo artists can highlight known skeletal anatomy without making conjectural guesses about an soft tissues that might not have been preserved back in the dinosaur renaissance shrink wrapping was in fashion. That's no longer the case modern critics point out that living animals tend to look a lot different than you might expect. If you had nothing to go on. But they're naked skeletons troll pointed out that things like trunks ears and blubber. Don't usually. Fossil is. We also spoke by Email with Matt Celeski paleo artists and museum exhibit designer who also offered his thoughts on the issue quote. Today's paleo artists are looking more closely at the extent of soft tissue in living animals. I think this fleshing out of paleo art makes for heightened levels of believability in the reconstructions and greater diversity in the way, artists approach their subjects in other words, chunky limbs and necks and not to mention poofy. Dino feathers have gone mainstream but figuring out what those features might have looked like take some serious research to scientists skeletal drawing is one of the most useful forms of paleo. Art, an animal skeleton is usually depicted in an upright position that is standing or running and juxtaposed against a black silhouette that represents the creature's body profile. Unfortunately in the fossil record complete skeletons tend to be rare when parts are missing or broken. Scientists and artists can only speculate about what those elements looked like slutsky said every skeleton presents unique challenges, but I find the most difficult thing. Is filling in the parts, you don't know extrapolating, the shapes of missing, bones or correcting the shapes of bones that have been damaged or distorted by time. Filling in each missing piece involves a complex mix of research inference and educated guesses, and I always wonder if they're better choices than the ones I end up making. But these efforts aren't new a let me take you back to eighteen fifty three when sculptor Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins was hired to build more than thirty full-sized concrete models of prehistoric animals for Crystal Palace park in London England, the man really did his homework consulting experts scrutinizing fossils and reviewing the scientific literature and short he was a dedicated paleo artist. One of Hawkins, Don molds had a carnivorous gut big enough to hold a table and some chairs so as a publicity stunt for his project Twenty-one guests, including paleontologist, William Buckland and servitude Owen were invited to climb down into the belly of the beast for an eight course, dinner party, the big shindig took place on New Year's Eve eighteen fifty three. Restoration projects have helped these masterworks survived to the present day. The beasts attract thousands of visitors every year, even though they're no longer deemed accurate Hawkins megalosaurus for example, stands menacingly on all fours, but scientists now think the meat eating dinosaur was bipedal nevertheless, the Victorian era giants capture the prevailing wisdom of their time. Giving them a men's cultural value prehistory matters. But so does our history. "What for beating them by four goals to one? They are out. Of course, we'll see matches tomorrow Chelsea take Brian ecologist Spurs Crystal Palace. Drama in Spain's finished via Riyan four boss alone. A full eight points after let's see one against the Girona, but it was extrordinary match out. Awesome. Tune in their absolutely cruising. Very Alvin came back to lead by full goals. Too. Messy off the bench goes freak Aikman Swire's pretty much the loss of the game to make it for four. Now is all lanes from this game about how importantly now messy is football Celona. Oh, how softballs look at the when that pushed? You too. And you try for. Figure woman the bomb lane is is that. The chances are the gonna lose more games. If they keep defend the not way, you kind of messy to come on and change again. So many times time after time every time he steps on the field. So let's you huge problem. Newsflash messy is important. The bench. What more of not when he's not in the band. She's getting them. Yeah. Getting them off in the front for anyway. And then they can go into cruise control. But when he's come off the end. The. Dom good what she ended. The there's a reason why we've all got boss Alona. I think we'll boss alone as favorites to win the championship league. Because of Lino Massi. Meanwhile action in eighth elite today events winning by two goals to now away against Cowdery. But this wasn't a big talking points throughout the game from some sections of the fans movies Cam was racially abused. He then school at the second. Go sit in front of the crowd to celebrate and call some reaction and some questionable question but Nuccio afterwards saying well can those he schools go we have to focus on celebrating teammates. He knows he could have done something differently to they were racist chairs off cold place her there, and was angered I think the blame is fifty fifty because my shouldn't have done that. And the curve should not have reacted that way. We up professionals. We have to set the example and not provoke. Anyone can give them all of the show. Again, these from the outside looking in seeing some misguided from Banou Cina. Misguided if not outright shocking. I mean, that's his teammate. Incidentally that he's talking about. There can only assume that that Baluchi didn't realize that motion can fell he was racially abused before the goal and that the the the celebration, which by the way, simply involved him standing there staring down the crowd with his arms out for for maybe ten seconds. That was a response to that. But even if it hadn't been respond to that, it seems pretty obvious to most same people that. If you feel provoked by player on the other team, there's one hundred one ways that you can you can express your anger. You can express your insults. But there are certain lines that you do not cross and you do not racially abuse. And your solution to this isn't to go out and say, well, you know, but he started it by by celebrating in that way. It's it's it's so frankly, unconscionable Bucci would come out and say that I would hope that he takes the opportunity to next the next day to to come out and and retract that. Or maybe even listen to his manager max legally who said there's no ifs, ands, or buts, when this happens, you find the people responsible, you drag them out, and you make sure that they never enter football ground over again and get ready to double down with that. Because then the president Tomaso Geneen would take it a step further. And this is embarrassing to be honest, if then a desk celebrate like that he would have been treated exactly the same way by fans..

"We are of course, gonna combat too bright and just want to pick up on something that you said about the January transfer window because I have this image of all players keeping across I dunno Sky Sports. Breaking news, ticker, yellow strap. Are you all completely addicted to what's going on? Is there this little bubble of someone's going to join our club? But we might actually believe in ourselves. I suppose it's less though, with the January window now compared to what it was at one point more the summer window. I think it's always an exciting time for for player, especially play that trying to progress. An and maybe doing well in that period of his career. And. Yeah, obviously when when you get reports from your agent and things the that clubs are making maybe making moves on you and on itself like you. And I think more glued to your phone rather than the TV because I'd like to think, you know, I it seems like too much of an opportunity for pranksters as well. Yeah. I offered of pranksters yet. Call call some teammates, call the nature, they're open and acting as. Manages and things Jemaine Easter was it was quite good one for Crystal Palace. But fortunately, I don't believe I've ever been done with that one. And police in Brighton. There's not many players that have played for both clubs and the certainly thought with of played for Brighton guns. Policemen comeback. So how did you make that work? And was it something that you love proven yourself. We've understood that about you all the way through any doubters. But is that part of your I'm going to call it a warped personality that wants to go and then go, but I'll prove welcome come back and you'll accept me again. Not at all. It's just it's just how it all worked out and. And yet Chris police give me an opportunity bucket buck when I went up there. And and I just like to think that the whichever whichever club I play for I always try and get one hundred percents and and try and score goals. And I think I think both sets of funds of appreciate Dom understand rivalry because he around the world to come back to your days when you plane in America, they believe what Crystal Palace in Brighton. No like, like, a torch northern boy, and Brian wasn't on my radar. So so that. Accidentally went to poly hot dogs. This rivalry wasn't. I didn't really know about it. And even though I spent three and a half years Brighton. We'd never come across policy. Sorry. I never never understood the ferocity of the heat between the funds on tale. I visited for Crystal Palace on only a matter of months after I signed for them, and then it was pretty hostile. And now, I fully understand about the rivalry the hat pain. You'll I bell hair it at Brighton. It wasn't hearing this amazing training facility because they've obviously changed a few times. But when you were here there was a contract on the table. Wasn't there? You could've stayed. There was a contract on the table. Yes. There was wasn't listen. We just didn't see eye to eye on they fell out world, something I felt was always worth more and an in the end that would you would just agree to to Saul park company and was not the first time that you felt that you had. To dig your heels in a little bit. Because of course, players careers can be short. We're talking to you. And you're in evergreen strikers. That's not quite the case with you in particular. But you know, that it could be that the ACL injury that you ended up having could have been career ending. You've got to at some point make the most of your heydays, obviously plays have got lots of outside influences as people cost them in of inner circle including agents. Who? Who was saying what what they believe to be worth? You obviously speak to all the players the clubs and find out what the wage talks are an afternoon, why did in not league on campaign?.

"To all with Crystal Palace. Iran. Thrashed Real Madrid five one in L classic with the future of manager Yulia. And is now in serious doubt rail now ten in Lalita and in baseball Boston Red Sox the wraps on a dominating season with a five one win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in game five of the World Series. The Red Sox are killed their full title in fifteen years James more from James in twenty five minutes. In the meantime, let's talk about the computer giant IBM spending thirty four billion dollars to buy a software company that gives away its products for free business presented this morning. In Hong Kong is Andrew would Andrew what's this all about? Well, he doesn't give away all of the products for free. It gives away the key products. You remember the old thing they used to say is if you give them an official feed him for a day, if you give them if you teach a man to fish and you'll feed him for life. The capitalist version is you can also sell him fishing equipment. You can sell him magazines fishing. You can send him about theme holidays and conferences, and it's a bit like that with red hat, which is the company that IBM is board at the key to its business is the Lennox operating system which has been around for a couple of decades now, and it's no fun source software, and it's free. It's basically being put together by volunteers. So the problem is with the with the software is that because it's being put together volunteers. There isn't really anything like a company you can ring up or help desk. If you've got problems with Lennon's so company like red hat comes in and says, well, we'll solve your problems with lenox. We'll we'll adapts it. If you need it be we can debunk it. We come come connect you to other computer systems, and so on so red hat makes a lot of money out of that. It's also into cloud computing as well now IBM is the deal is worth thirty four billion IBM's worth. About one hundred ten billion on the stock market. So this is quite a big deal in terms of expanding the size of IBM rather. It's quite a big big takeover that might take a bit of time to digest IBM gets access to an awful lot more technology services. And traditionally IBM was very very good at coming up with big computers and lots of software and selling them a rather renting them to people. And so in a way, this is actually going backwards to what the IBM was like thirty forty years ago. Very good at coming up with software, which you can sell services rented out in effect, pay subscriptions and get cash again. And again and again. Yes. So IBM kind of coming full circle. Thank you. Andrea. That's our business presented this morning. Andrew would and as you may have had in the news throughout the last couple of days funds of LeicesteR Leicester City football club in Britain has confirmed. The chairman of the club died when his helicopter crushed outside the stadium on Saturday evening. All four people on board were also killed. Funds have been laying clubs shots and messages of support. Also the team stadium. Mr. VJ as was famously helped to put together a team which ton Waldron at one of the Premier League in two thousand sixteen at odds of five thousand to one at tell us more bottom and how he made his fortune that ended up in LeicesteR city's George McCloud who's a political risk consultant based in Bangkok. And you started his business is all right, George. Yes. That's correct. Now, would you would you say that he was immensely wealthy? He was he was a extremely wealthy businessman. His net worth was estimated at over three three billion US three point three billion. And speaking to my colleague Jonathan head not too long ago. He says that he wasn't that. Well known. In Thailand until he bought Leicester City. No, he was you know, he I I would say he was a figure of some controversy as well. He he he obtained a very lucrative duty free concession for Thailand's airports, which obviously did attract attention, but. His his acquiring of of the Leicester City football club sort of propelled him to to a new level, you know, locally as well, obviously internationally and what we've seen with other. Thai wealthy people. Not least should know what ended up in politics, but he stayed out into. Well, you know, formerly speaking he did. But behind the scenes, he's he's he's been incredibly active, politically, I'd say that that he stands apart in that sense. A lot of businessmen in Thailand try to deliberately steer clear of politics. He's been very active financing various sides of the political spectrum depending on I guess who's in power at the time. He's switched sides a number of times, then proved very dexterous at at navigating the difficult political system here, why Lester city of all the teams why did he pick it? Well, I mean for for one thing it was you know, it was an underdog team. And I think he set his sights on on, you know, wiping it into shape, which which he did very well. I mean, the shows a high level of sort of business acumen on his part and. It was very much a down de project. He he's as I say very wealthy, but he doesn't come from one of the legacy wealthy families here. And he was always struggling to gain acceptance in those circles, and I think acquiring that football club was partly intended for for that level of acceptance. So how will ties be reacting to his death? Well, there's obviously shock over this grief over this because he is possibly, you know, the the only figure in this country that's managed to internationalize himself to that degree. But you know, of course, I don't think people are in the under any illusions that they that he has been a figure of controversy as well. Good to talk to you. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts with us. We've been speaking to George McLeod who is a political risk consultant based in Bangkok. So.
