Aviation Q&A: Turbulence Apprehension, Test Question Bank, and More
"Tips for conquering apprehension of turbulence. Airplanes are made to handle pretty much. Anything in terms of turbulence. Unless you're in something a thunderstorm. There are some caveats to that. You know you might. You might have some other areas where people could argue. You could over stress the airplane. The basically you need to learn about maneuvering speed. Maneuvering speed is where you're basically not going to break the airplane during situations like this in. Airliners they call this rough air penetration speed so yeah look into that but in terms of how much you can handle. The airplane can handle a lot more. So don't be worried about that. Yeah the airplane can handle a ton even these even these these smaller planes that we fly the aren't narrow baddeck. They can still handle a lot. Where can I find a good test question? Bank Andrew Study Material for the private pilot knowledge. So of course you know you've got to go through ground school. I I think that's first and foremost I haven't online video ground school. You can enroll in this second and start your training. Sports has a really good free testing bank. That you can use there. I know there are some other sources. Asa Prep where they do one as well that you can download as an APP on your phone so bunch of sources where you can get it. There are quite a few of them thoughts on doing. Cfi double around the same time. I think it's good. You know if you're in the mindset of teaching and taking your test based on how good a quality you're teaching is meaning your your flight instructor check rides then. I think absolutely I would go. I go your CFI first and then your next. Some people go double next and see if I next but I don't know I don't know why I just think I just think the cf I'd done. I get the hard way and then do the AA. Add on right after that. So Yeah Bang. Bang get him done best resources or ways to learn systems if not mechanically inclined asked by one of my former students. Maybe she is forever student. Sarah Sarah just isn't mechanically inclined. You know that that's one of the areas. Where she she always needed some extra time some extra help and so I went through it quite a bit and I think I think the biggest thing for me about systems is yes. There are systems books. You can buy you. You get a lot about the systems in in the hack. There's plenty of of nerdy stuff out there. Okay stuff you can get really deepen but the thing for me is. I just want to know the common sense of what that system is actually doing. And so that I can know the ramifications if I see some sort of development some sort of you know out of place problem while I'm flying. I want to know how those things were so that I can start to troubleshoot so while some people really nerd out on getting into the super technical details of causes propeller and how it all works which is one of the most complex things That we have in an airplane also one of the most amazing simple things but so it causes feet propeller you can get really deep on that subject very very deep and eventually you might get there but you gotta just take it one step at a time. Understand more about the theory or the process the common sense on how it's working the layman how it's working and they're start to build the technical details from there. That's how my mind works. I think a lot of people's minds work that way. Of course you have the people that are just super smart and can can just take on a bunch of technical and engineering information. I was never really that way. I want to know the common sense of how the how the system works what it's actually doing. And then from there I can over time bill the technical knowledge on top of that because even though I know quite a bit about a constant speed propeller for example I know that if I die back into the books again and again and again I'll just learn more and more and stack on top of what I've already done. So that's my advice. There crossland aviation who happens to be a corporate pilot tips and tricks across landings. I heard recently as like a recipe. If you're in for crosswind landing first off into the wind so you're preventing the drift of the airplane but you don't want to just land like crowd into the wind rights. He might be turned into the wind and tracking down the runway. But what you need to do is you also need to align the nose with the runway. So that takes rudder so aileron into the wind and rudder to align with the runway. But it's GonNa Change. You're down throughout. There's going to be trees around hills Different Bits of wind gusts or whatever usually so buildings blocking the wind cetera. Right it's just going to be different as you're going down. So someone mentioned it recently like Jambalaya recipe or whatever your favorite dishes. That maybe has a variety of spices and things. But you're just GONNA do a little bit more or a little bit rudder or a little bit more this a little bit more that. It's like putting spices into a recipe. Okay or or whatever you're putting into just a little bit more a little bit here and there and that's going to get you on track And and it is. It is kind of that process right. Because as you're going through the crosswind landing you are constantly making little tiny adjustments that gets really critical and quick. When you get in the final phase where you do put deal into the wind. Align with the runway in sometimes even touch down into the windward will I as you touched down but that low energy state tends to weathervane. Some funny things can happen. And that's where you really gotta be on the ball to get her down just takes and UH works pretty well so I encourage you that if you haven't instructor to go out there and practice it in the real thing I know that crossland aviation doesn't need it. He's pretty amazing. So that's for your guys benefit
Using Virtual Reality to Improve Healthcare Outcomes with Everett Crosland
"Today I have the privilege of hosting Everett crossland. He's tenured healthcare executive with significant experience variance in developing and executing US and global commercialization and launch strategies. He's got proven expertise and leadership in launching and commercializing novel. Oh FARMACEUTICA L- and digital therapeutics as well as drug device combinations used to treat rare and common diseases Everett's most recent experience is as as the senior vice president of commercial at applied the are where he has successfully scaled the company's virtual reality based SAS offering across multiple optical channels within healthcare in today's age in healthcare the consumer experience matters more than ever and the use of technologies like virtual reality. Eddie are changing the way that the landscape looks and addresses things. So I'm excited to dive into these topics with with Everett today. And so ever just want to give you a warm welcome awesome. Thanks for joining us today. Much really appreciate the opportunity to chat with you today. And I'm looking forward to the discussion. I think given the audience that you've described ride in the people who download your podcast on a monthly basis. I think we'll have a fruitful conversation. I agree I agree. So tell me Everett what inspires inspires your work in healthcare. Sure I think mostly what gets me up every day and gives me that spark every morning is the potential that we have Specifically at applied. VR To provide an alternative solution for patients. Who are in pain or dealing with things? I we sell a lot of products into into the emergency department. Setting and I think we can all relate to anytime. You're you're going into the emergency department a lot of times. That might be the the worst day or night of your your year even your life and so being able to provide a product that we have confidence and we have clinical evidence that supports reports our ability to say that we're reducing pain and where we are reducing anxiety and helping patients cope with pain anxiety again at that point in their their life where they need it most and so. I think it's something that we think a lot about on a daily basis and it's definitely something that keeps me motivated more we we get the product addict out there that the more people were helping and of course building a business. I love the idea of being able to successfully start from zero and build and build something into a multimillion dollar enterprised. Yeah it's definitely exciting and so I looked to learn a little bit more about the technology the applications and exactly how you guys are are adding value to the ecosystem. Can you hone in on that for us. Yeah sure thing. So we offer a virtual reality therapeutic content. We currently are UH wellness product. Which means that we can't make medical claims because we have not put our products through FDA for you and clear and says medical devices but right well we are able to point to the clinical studies that we've done in the clinical studies that have been done on our products and that demonstrate the ability of virtual reality content to nets really relaxation exercises breathing exercises biofeedback etcetera a- all are designed to reduce anxiety and help patients cope with acute and chronic pain? Something that we you have a lot of anecdotal evidence on but also we've done the work to build a clinical body of evidence to support that use as well and so you think about the value proposition. Obviously there's there's a patient value here where patients more than a majority of patients prefer non opioid non pharmacologic logic pain management regimen virtual reality offering. Clearly we fit the bill. We also have a value prop for health systems and physicians in a variety have different settings and citing the emergency department. A lot of times. There's Qiyang's ID in that setting you can imagine that a patient with co Morbidity and who's on on average six to eleven different drugs and they come through the door adding another drugs. Such as been. Zo can complicate implicate your work stream and workflow. And so if you're able to introduce again a non pharmacologic solution that helps patients cope with their anxiety in pain in that setting and you're able to improve efficiencies as well so we can go through multiple different settings but that's just one example where we think through our value prop in terms of what we're offering the patient what we're offering dachshund in terms of their workflow efficiency and then what we're offering health systems uh-huh terms of their ability to provide value to to patients and improve cost structure that they obviously think about on a day to day basis. Nuts some some valuable pearls there ever at and and I mean we've discussed the challenges with the OPIOID epidemic and last year the NIH funded that they approved proved nine hundred and forty five million dollars toward research to more non opioid ways to reduce pain long-term and this is a critical equal. Time for technologies. Like this yeah so we we actually received some grant funding through the NFL. H There and we're number of. Yeah we we were part of that class clash with thanks. Yeah it was team effort. We've got a number of experts on staff here. That just did Yeoman's work and getting those Graham with Asians and then it and I think it's it's a real market credibility when h these promising you're in your product and you're offering. We're using that money. A to conduct clinical randomized controlled studies at Cleveland Clinic and Geissinger to study both pain reduction as well as opioid sparing airing. So we're matching this product up against standard of care that currently uses opioids and rightfully so in many cases. But there's also also room to improve and room to potentially reduce the need for opioids and a certain patient population and we're investigating that and we're kicking those. Those clinical studies off this year. And we're really grateful for the United Funding as well and it helps a company like ours which is a venture backed company. Upset oppose extended runway. I'll just bring in more experts and and again it just lends credibility. Yeah totally agree with you. I read in. It's exciting to hear you. You've got these outstanding partnerships partnerships with Some of the best in the provider space. And as you think about how your company the company that you guys are running there. What is it that differentiates is it? Wise it better than other. VR things that are out there. I think our approach is relatively unique and we have a a really broad base of data that we're pulling from so we sell into over two hundred and fifty hospitals across the country. We sell in the seven different countries. We've got an incredible amount of use that in data from that use that we are using to mind for four for clinical signals and uses just increasing with at thirty thousand patients that have used our our product today now this year. I think we'll probably hit at forty thousand and bag as a real competitive advantage in that were able to see where. VR Works and wear doesn't me think about treating pain for example in a lot of companies are looking at Vr as a solution for paying. We're not necessarily unique in that but the reason is is that there's a mechanism mechanism of action there and the cascade there that we believe that we all believe that we can tap into applied. VR Has the distinct advantage of being able to see across those thirty. Ideally say forty thousand usage over the course of a few years and and really mind for insights and signals. We're using that shape. Apr Clinical Studies and shape. Our Clinic put develop that program. I think what we're also differentiated is our intense focus on clinical winnick eleven. And we're doing that through strategic partnerships so our intense focus on evidence development. She added other company. Neither will but I'll tell you the way that we're doing I think is we do this through strategic partnerships and this partnership gratitude. Where are we are? co-developing are a chance to related products with NCI H. We're working with a couple of large judge health system and pears in co-development could ask there as well and even in our clinical study with ice very people into winnick. We had a strategic partnership elements those but that they're not just transactional clinical development program for we're software. So we're able to use the leverage the experts that he is sufficient during their fold in some elements of the product out of the clinical study. He it goes into FDA and ultimately that the market is something that has been shaped by the best practitioners. Were I think that that gives us a AH competitive advantage often. What is the issue clinical? Study one going back and forth with plentiful totally agree. But if you listening unique way you're able to refuse to produce a product that is better than just a transactional

"Would not know how to coach the person to lead measures of performance that they truly want and that's one key factor most leaders don't have a clue at a fundamental level what their people should do and sports teams do this so much better in business and in fact I would contend every sports team on the plane it including little league and he football is better managed in most businesses because they have definitions play books they have coaching they have practice and that's why they're so good uniformly and if we really define what an A. is you're GONNA get almost immediately results so define the dictation really describe what a person should be doing to do a good job or to meet those expectations in it sounds like you're you're saying have high expectations they don't describe the average or as a minimum that they need to do but really the top you're describing top you're defining a player performance I believe we've everybody deserves to be a player somewhere maybe not at my organization matching I'm a tennis player a player three point out which is a intermediate-level tennis player I'm not in a player three point five I'm not a player four point out but I am an eight player where I am now being three tenths players people realize it doesn't pay anything just my own enjoyment of playing but obviously you're five oh you're on the pro tour five or six zero and they're making millions right and here's the thing we let be players go or usually they leave on their own accord will run into him at the state fair or somewhere in the mall and they are the most friendly people it's like you know what thank you for bring up my options because I'm now truly happy with where I am and I'm doing really good that was not a fit for me but now I'm happy and that is I think the best blessing Wiki Gibson alert people need to follow their core purpose and if they're not doing a core purpose at their current career or current job then there's a misalignment and you're not GonNa get that a player performs much they're going to be miserable they're gonNA make you miserable all of their teammates are going to be miserable and it's not a good game so as leaders were telling rose you're listening to you and so let's concretize this what are some specific things that you can suggest that they do to I guess I get the kind of people on their team that they need so that's probably the including the hiring but also working with the people that are already on their team or those people that they bring onto their team to help them create a player performs it's great question so here's the formula and it starts again with making that decision that you want to do this and I can tell you this I can guarantee the results if you go with a team of players and what we're doing fundamentally coaching up your existing team and then we're adding talent so I make a decision that we're going to be team of players and one first thing to do there is you're literally make a chart and say who are my true as who are my bees or who are my sees some other senior leaders look at that and want a great upright so you're gonNA need to move some of your people you thought were as into your bs and then what I what I tell leaders game on right a players love this stuff right the b he's an A. sees start to get Kinda weak-kneed and it's really defining that a player performance we with something called in a player agreement there's a sample of that on my website refer that to book and that is a job description on steroids we show for three to five key thrust of the role what the daily well thank goodness somebody figured out what the role is now. I know what to do and again that comes back to leaders because if you have woolly expectations you're going to get woolly results and tolerate this underperformance so you use the player agreement to define what the performance looks like and then as a leader the highest former leadership recognized in the modern age is actually that of a coach can you show me how to do there. Can you challenge me to do that. It's not about telling it's about Nali setting those expectations but coaches draw playbook right I have proprietary knowledge as a leader and I'm gonNA show you how to get an a if you choose not to be a then that's on you but I have as the team I know exactly how they got where they are and you know here's the formula for success and I think you would agree most leaders fall short of that Standard Yeah Fisher this is a hard work right but hey you wanna be a leader and you want to do a good job if you wanna be able earlier yourself then this is more like you have to step up to produce there's something like this and to go through the difficult thinking process of outlining articulating all of these specifics because otherwise how do you expect people to acquit you expect right it's that old Moses and that's where people get frustrated right 'cause there's poor communication the leader has one expectation another person's a totally different expectation and as the employee and the friction builds and and you touched on a very important thing that hard work is some of the most rewarding work we do as leaders our job is Lee eaters is to grow other leaders and this is hard work it's painstaking but when you take the time to do when we're baking which is a very good analogy here the the best way to bake is actually to wear the ingredients like what's the mass of the flower what's a massive the sugar that is far more accurate than actually volume metrically you know how how much volume do I have so that is a more precise measurement and uniformly get great cakes when you do it that way because it's that precision kind of the same thing with these player agreements right I know exactly how to hit the sales target I know how to get these tight production tolerances because we have study we have an agreement we have play books we have all these standards and measurements and training processes to show you how to be successful telling sometimes I put on my devils advocate hat I it's coming out I don't know but this I keep thinking you know I have a lot of shows about innovation and our uncertainty about how things are changing the world is such a a great speed I keep thinking to myself I were in a position to have to do this in many organizations it's not that clear the stuff that you do today is so different from the things I had people do six months ago because the world is changing customers are changing technologies are changing so what do you do when you it's not so clear cut what success looks like or how exactly to do it let me do this. I will answer the question so as I'm talking through this my context is what I see seven seas of leadership I'll give you the seven seas right now challenge party challenge is seeing the future and one of the things that leadership is that we're making it better tomorrow that is fundamental to leadership we're taking any situation and we're making it better that the situation could be a pretty decent status quo but as a leader I don't want this task Clo- I'm always looking for continuing prove it says the first one is challenged which gets into your future in the second one is clarity how clear is my message how clear is is my big hairy audacious goal in where we're taking the department the Company the corporation the next one is credibility m. i. credible as a leader oh coming to yours if I'm in a technical fast moving field as the leader I need to be tech savvy as well I need to be a very good consumer of information and if is leaving that to chance with my team I'm not being a very credible leader again and I'll use sports coaches people go to the best schools for football because they have famous coaches like nick saving or in Basketball Mike Chef ski where you know they are going for a proven system that's credibility the next one is congruence as leaders we need to be working hard around ourselves so when people look at us the leader is working as hard if not harder on themselves and their leadership competencies anybody else if not any reasonable person particularly day players will see right through next one character I tell you how many times leaders tell white lies and I can tell you that because I'm in the box with them as their coach and they'll say one thing the one thing they'll say another thing to me and they're so much we can off clean up our character game so character almost goes without saying but we have to talk about it because every single one of us on this podcast is told a white lie last week it's just the truth of it I don't have the data at hand but if you look it up there's a lot on how much people lie in every day so character is super important Dan Arieli is a book about this I think I have to try to think of the title of it but he's a behavioral economists yeah I think the data's in a sixty minute interview do there are six lies told any conversation sixty minutes there's about six truce adult so it just it just takes us back to square one on how we can get better at that yeah that's a fifth one the six has courage you have the courage to coach up with be player by the way the way we do that is you know we need to get you to a that's the best language I come to you hang on a be yes I am you're currently be player and we replace BS and as a leader you need to have courage to get better because your whole new organization back if not the last one the seventh is caring and you just like a sports coach you can be amazingly demanding on somebody if they know you care about and they will go to the the ends of the earth but you need to truly care if you truly care with someone that kind of opens up that six courage because then you can give them the honest truth I like to say nightstand for nothing inside me cares enough and people don't have courage or I can't tell somebody that why not at indy tell them and it's all better yeah because you being honest correct now with the seven Caesar leadership under our belt cancer your question which was really in a fast moving technology changing period will that's the fundamental pace leadership right the thing that differentiates a leader from other credible people is their ability to see the future and to share a clear your compelling work plan where to go so your job as a leader like military general because they're working even in today's Day and age military leader admirals and generals work which tremendous amount of uncertainty onto where the enemy is etcetera and so you have to with the information you have as the leader do you need to coalesce all this into a game plan and the best leaders pull like parallel processing right were pulling from all the best data sources all the best minds in our organization but the end of the day our job is the leader is to coalesce that into a plan so even in a case indeed the a player leader needs to be able to project the strategy to win and that is fundamental and it doesn't matter that the world's changed in so fast we need clear strategies which is a big plug to.

"We have Hank. Crossley misty's father. He is seeing telling her telling misty, quote, misty don't be lying about nothing because it's all going to all it's going to do is bury you deeper. The Haley stuff has got to come to an end has to misty which is so strange of so many little similarities in this case to the Casey, Anthony case. And there remains this one last hail this takes place in August of two thousand and ten new information emerge misty and Tommy were talking, and they were both pointing the finger at the same person misty's attorney issued a statement that on February ninth misty's cousin Joe Overstreet had come to the trailer home and abducted Haley, misty, and Ron. On junior cowered under the covers her Joe take Haley and heard a van door open and, or close, misty said she saw a black bag placed over the girl. It came out later that misty told investigators a similar story back in January of two thousand and ten this is where she even described, the black bag rope and blocks that were used to way down the body. She now said Haley was dumped at this shell harbor boat ramp. This is about five miles from the Cummings home in an area of the river, that had not been searched yet. Right. But this is still the area. The scent dogs tracked. No, this, this was not in that area, so different dock. Yep. Okay. And so through his attorney August of two thousand and ten Tommy Crossland also made a statement similar statement that on the night of February ninth morning of the tenth his cousin Joe Overstreet had been looking for a. Machine gun that he believed Ron had. So Joe in Tommy, according to the statement, given by Tommy white, boy, Tommy, they went to the trailer where misty and the kids were this is around midnight now not finding the gun that will they were searching for Joe Overstreet killed Haley. Tommy says he didn't see the killing but said Joe threatened misty with a knife. He said he saw Haley's quiet and limp, body and under duress. He accompanied Joe to the shell harbor boat ramp where Joe dumped her body into the Saint John's river right by their claiming that, that he killed her in the trailer with a knife. No, he threatened misty with a knife. And then army says that he did not see the killing of Haley the only Saul the body after she was already dead. And right. So the gist of that, is that the two men were going to steal this machine gun. And for whatever reason not finding that gun. His statement, Tommy statement, is that Joe Overstreet put a knife to the throat of misty and took Haley in that the body was dumped near into the Saint John's river bright and it's very possible there were on drugs at the shell harbor boat ramp. So Joe Overstreet is questioned several times, and was the subject of lengthy surveillance and investigation. He has never been named a suspect or charged in Haley's disappearance. He has denied any involvement. He was arrested in August of two thousand and ten on drug charges, but there has never been any connection to Haley other than that alleged by both misty and Tommy Crossland. It makes you wonder also was she, you know, she threatened with a knife before Haley is taken which she threatened more to keep, you know, keep your mouth shut and maybe that's why her story kept changing and changing and changing because she's making up as she went along. Well, in one interview with the media Joe broke down he broke down into tears when he was asked if there, he had any possible connection to Haley disappearance. He said, quote, if I knew did it, I would go. Straight and call the cops and tell them who did it. And quote, his attorney said Joe is being targeted by family members. I do wanna point out. He's the same guy that left the next day day after the disappearance. But in all fairness to to Joe Overstreet. We need to point out that Joe and Ron together were passing out Haley's missing flyer before Joe left for Tennessee on the tenth of February. Now with these statements, a search of the water near the shell harbor boat ramp began police brought misty in handcuffs to the boat ramp. And she is seen on video footage, pointing to certain areas of the river cadaver dogs were used diver spent days searching, the waters around the boat ramp, but came up empty handed they found according to the sheriff only alligator toenails, according to Saint Augustine beach. Police chief Robert Hardwick, who was the assistant chief invest. Estimator for the state's attorney's office at the time in the squad car on the way back to jail. Misty Crossland said, quote, never mind. I'm not telling the truth. So basically had she made up the whole thing you have to wonder again, again, it's another story by very misty. Yeah. I'm very similar to the Casey, Anthony. It's also possible where things sit today that, that misty may never talk. Or never tell the truth about what happened to Haley or that the truth about what happened to Hailey is even worse than the rumors that we have heard now in April of two thousand eleven sentences were handed down for misty Tommy and Ron on the drug trafficking charges after they pled no contest, Ron and Tommy, each got fifteen years. They're scheduled release date is may sixteenth two thousand and twenty four. Now they threw the book at misty who had the most counts against her giving her twenty five years, she will get out on March twenty ninth two thousand thirty four by but they were hoping. That should break. Yeah. And that's what's very difficult about this, this whole thing since two thousand thirteen crystal Sheffield has been arrested for petty theft, disorderly, intoxicated, and possession of drug paraphernalia. This is especially tragic, because she had custody of little Ron junior as his father remains in prison. I do not know who has custody of the boy currently on it seemed like all their parents were not doing so well either. So I mean it's a sad situation for any any children ball. And in two thousand and ten the Putnam county sheriff Jeff hardy conducted, a news conference in which he stated quote over the past few weeks information has been obtained by investigators that led them to believe Haley Cummings is most likely deceased the information they had uncovered has quote minimize the likelihood that, hey. Haley's disappearance is the work of a stranger hardy reiterated that misty Crossland is still the key to the case. He did say they have some persons of interest, but would not elaborate a year after Haley vanish remember the case was officially declared a homicide. So primary the primary investigators on this case seem to all agree that misty Krasula knows what happened to Hailey. They, they don't necessarily believe that Hailey is murdered. Or was murdered per their statements, but state's attorney Robert Mathis and Detective John merchant, believe Haley died accidentally, although they aren't sure where or how saying, quote, I think that somebody gave the child some drugs, or the child got some drugs accidentally, and she died and people panicked and had to get rid of the body, and most people agree that it's very unlikely that misty was able to pull this off by herself. So we have other people that are likely involved, and it is very probable that she had some help, and others know exactly where Hailey is. It's unclear exactly what Ron Tommy, Joe and perhaps others might know about the little girl's fate. And that's where a lot of people sit now is. The idea that it's a four person conspiracy of this missing girl. Yeah. Because I mean, those are the four that are often most mentioned, but on top of that within those four you have those people turning on one another so Haley's case did just observe an unwelcome milestone, this was in February of two thousand and nineteen. It was the ten year anniversary of the little girl's disappearance my thoughts captain, I this one really is tough to sift through. I know we dropped the s bomb bazillion times in these two episodes, but it's because we can't get a straight answer from who I believe, in it seems like law enforcement have publicly stated believe arcade is key to the case that being misty her story, changing also her pointing the finger at other individuals. But where where I really go to this is if you could sift through. All that. And if you could weed out the lies from the shit from the truth there, there could be some truth in here, and I find it difficult logistically for Ron to have been involved in whatever caused the death of Haley. That doesn't mean that he didn't know after the fact and has chosen for whatever weird reason to cover up for somebody else. Right. But his time unlike a lot of the other people's time is accounted for for that night. Right. And that makes it very difficult for me. I, I actually lean towards the side of, of Ronald's tears in frustration and sadness being real and not put on while his ex right. His ex claims that any time that you've seen him emotional, this is fake, because when he's actually emotional it's different than that. But again, that's ex-. So, you know how can we believe her? And she's, you know. Piece of shit herself. But Ronald McDonald is that he's the weirdest one. I mean his one he's asked clowns of if aim as wondering why I'm calling him Ronald McDonald's because he's asked clam, but. That's weird because this person conspiracy, I agree with you. You know, I it's like while mount work, I'm at work. I'm out work. So I couldn't be involved. I wonder if the reason why white boy, Tommy, and white, boy, Joe are at the trailer that night. And the reason you know, if there's some true to them threatening her and then taking Haley is he the reason why they're there. And that's why he's gone along with it. But according to that story, the only reason why he would be there for this machine gun that they wanted to steal. Right. But we don't know if that is the truth or not is what I'm saying is, we don't know which parts of the story are true are, which are not. I just doesn't making sense. Why who'd go along with it? Well, I don't know that he has gone along with it. It may just be simply. That he is innocent and doesn't know what happened. Right. Because the only people offering up that statement is Tommy and misty. And it's, it's bizarre that she would come up with this whole story. And then we have the sheriff statement that says, you know, when I'm when we didn't find anything in that river in that area of the river, and I'm driving her back to jail. She says, never mind I made the whole thing up. So how many did it because there's when she's talking in that clip that you hear earlier from one she's in prison? "February tenth two thousand nine now as you can hear. There are some strange things on this call. I we should point out that the caller is misty Crossland. She says she noticed around three a m that little five year old Haley Cummings is missing. The call to nine one one was not placed until three twenty-seven misty says she found the back door of the trailer home, which she states is always locked propped open with a brick. This turns out to be a cinder block. The police believe came from the yard outside of the home. The man heard in the background and then on the phone is Ronald Cummings. Yeah. They claim the brick was prop open the screen door. Ronald it's twenty five years old in Haley's, father in misty is Ronald seventy. Eighteen year old girlfriend Ronald was at work, and misty stayed home to watch Ronalds. Two children Haley and her brother three year old Ron junior to deputies were dispatched to 202 green drive in the small town of sat Suma. They arrived at the double wide trailer home at three forty a m when we say trailer home we are referring to those modular, one level homes that are not portable, but also not built into the ground. This trailer had dark green, carpeting throughout most of the living areas, green and white floral, wallpaper and one bedroom two bathrooms and a kitchen upon arrival deputies found a white male standing in the driveway, who was visibly upset he identified himself as Ronald Cummings. He said his daughter, Haley Cummings age. Five was missing. Ron said he had just got home from work, and his quote dumb bitch girlfriend told him his daughter. Was missing. Run then repeatedly said that someone had taken his child and said, quote, when I find him I'll kill him. Deputies then spoke with misty Crossland the girl who called nine one one misty was babysitting. Hailey and her little brother, Ron junior that evening. Now, we need to explain a little bit of background here, misty Crossland was from a local family with a long history of bad behavior. Her parents were both drug addicts. Alcoholics with long records and misty dropped out of school. In the sixth grade misty met Ronald Cummings a few months earlier at the school. Bus stop for the trailer park where misty would accompany her nephew. She started babysitting for Ron's kits Ron Haley's and Ron junior's father was twenty five years old. It was divorced from the kids mother crystal Sheffield, whom he had also met when she was a minor and who had gotten pregnant with Haley when she was just. Seventeen Ronald had custody of the kids. There are varying reports for the reasons for this some say it's because Ron had health insurance through his job that covered the children. Some say that it's because crystal was a habitual drug user and was negligent in any event. Ron had the kids while the other claim to his that she didn't have a job at the time. So he would actually be the only parent that could support them crystal got the children every other weekend. Ron wasn't an angel either. He had a history of arrest. Their relationship was acrimonious with custody disputes and allegations of both spousal and child, abuse leveled at Ron by crystal and drug arrests on both sides, Ron had been looked into by the Florida Department of children and families. At least once this is because crystal said that Haley missed school a lot and had visible injuries from. Mm beatings by Ron for her part. There is no doubt that crystal had a problem with drugs in the past in it, possibly persisted in the year of two thousand nine the deputy on the scene quickly deduces the seventeen year old misty was not just the babysitter. She was sleeping and Ron Cummings bet and she told the nine one one dispatcher that, quote, our daughter was missing misty, and Ron were romantically involved for a few months. Misty's family lived nearby at one sixteen Tyler street, misty told the deputy this. She put the children to bed at approximately eight pm. She did some laundry and then she went to bed around ten to ten thirty in the same bed as the kids, this is in the master bedroom of the trailer home. Both kids were peacefully sleeping at that time. Missy said she woke up at three AM to get a drink of water and then saw the kitchen light was on. And the back door was propped open with the brick, she then ran back to the bedroom. And notice a Haley was missing. Misty ran around frantically looking for the child looking under beds. And in the closet. She said that Ron arrived home from work around three twenty five and told her to call the police, he handed the phone to her. And you can hear him say something to the fact of bitch. How did you get my daughter stole? Very soon after deputies arrived on the scene. Ron's Mother Teresa arrived. She pulled up to the scene bearing a eight by ten class photo of Haley, Ron at called her and told her what was happening. She later said that she lived about fifteen miles away, and had driven a bat out of hell to get to Ron's house to help find her granddaughter, she was sure that Haley was just hiding somewhere and would be found now the search is going to begin at this time. But before we get into that, just throwing this out here. Some people have questioned Theresa's timeline that it just doesn't add up, right? She lived fifteen miles away, yet, arrived on the scene within five minutes, apparently of Ron calling her supposedly while misty was still on the phone with nine one, one. And she had that photo with her the class photo in hand. Right. People have pointed out that maybe she was aware of the situation but. Four police what they told police they notified her of the situation also so kinda strange that his girlfriend's us in his phone to call nine one one, and he's apparently using her phone 'cause mother, right? And there's also the statement of Theresa his mother seeing I'm sure that Haley was just hiding somewhere yet. She, she was thoughtful enough to bring the class photo with her, right? And the fact that chances are just knowing what I know about Haley's father, he probably doesn't actually have a school picture of his own daughter. So let's discuss the events of the day before Haley disappeared, according to misty Braun and some witnesses these events were normal in the morning. Ron misty Ron junior and Haley drove to Haley's grandmother's home to get some clothes Haley wanted to wear to school that morning before they left, they had breakfast. Then they dropped off. Haley at Browning Pierce school. The start time, eight forty five AM Ron and misty went back to bed until noon, or so. And they did some stuff around the house and till Ron picked up Haley at the school bus stop at three twenty. Ron, then left for work. We know that he arrived at PD 'em about forty five minutes early for his five PM shift. At five pm misty called Ron to see why the air conditioning repair guy arrived at their house. She handed the phone to the repairman to speak with wrong at this point. Misty's brother, Tommy Crossland Tommy's real name. If you're gonna look, these individuals up online, his real name is Hank Crossland junior, but he goes by Tommy. So this man, Tommy was also at the house with with the kids, and they were playing with Ron junior in Haley. He has kids of his own that he brought with him, as well at five thirty or so. Tom in his kids, and the repairman. They all left the home around six pm, misty said, she started dinner and cooked for about thirty to forty five minutes. Meanwhile, Haley and Ron junior were watching movies and seven PM. The kids were seen eating dinner on the front porch. This is by their grandmother. She stopped over to deliver some clothes. After dinner prior to getting Haley to bed misty said, she put Haley's blanket in the washer because it smelled like, pee like, urine Haley went to bed at approximately eight pm. This is her normal bedtime. According to misty on a school night. She was wearing her pink Hannah Montana shirt, and underwear now note, though, that the police report says, pink shirt and tan shorts right at eight thirty misty said she had a fight with Ron over the phone, and she turned her phone off between eight and nine thirty misty was doing laundry. She stated it took probably thirty minutes four to wash and probably sixty minutes for to dry and soon as that was done. She went to bed in the room with the two children, where she slept data. So they have a I'd say, maybe a Queen size bed that they slept in. And then there it looked like the. Mattress pad that you would actually put into a crib, but it wasn't in a crib. It was on the floor, right? And you'll notice throughout this episode in the next one discussing this case in discussing the, the details of the events leading up to in the details, right around and shortly after the nine one one call they will change a little bit. And that's because we have people who stories are changing a little bit earlier. We said that misty said that she slept in the same bed with both of the children, and later, she would say that she slept in the bed with Ron junior, and that Haley was in the small bed beside her bed. I believe some of these inconsistencies are just not really knowing or it's, it's not necessarily a lie. But a partial truth, maybe they did fall sleep in the bed together. And then if she woke up at some point that, that Haley wasn't on the bed anymore and was in her bed. So I think that's where we're getting some inconsistencies misty did not wake until she got up at three, according to her story. This is either to get a drink or to use the restroom her story has varied. And she says that she noticed that Haley was gone now. Ron arrives home at three twenty five AM until misty to call nine one one and that call came in at three twenty seven AM captain, I think that we should review that call as it's it's hard to hear. And as we wanted out there are some strange things in that call. Yeah. And that's a best quality that we could find. And we, we kind of question using anyways, because it's so hard to understand the actual context of what they're saying, but we do believe that also paints a picture of that moment. So let's listen to those clips, we're gonna break them down to smaller clips, and then dissect each one of them. Okay. Clip? One. Four daily what? Hey,.

I mean, you guys remember when you were sixteen the choices you made it wasn't. I remember how I still tricks shooting people that had Sucks thing. thing saying, you might not everything was in your control. I guess everyone's at fault in this story. Okay. Agreed. Yeah. Moving on. All right. Okay. So here's a fun one for you. A grueling today trial in Franklin county, Idaho, ended yesterday with a verdict of not guilty. The accused a middle school teacher named Robert Crossland the crime feeding a puppy to a snapping turtle after school in front of a group of children, not guilty. Not guilty. Yeah. This all happened back in March when the science teacher from Preston highschool did what he was trained to do. Teach kids about the circle of life by murdering man's best friend the disturbing. Feeding took place after school hours, which is even creeper. If you ask me because it was like an extra credit assignment. It wasn't long before word got around town into a local rights and animal rights, activist and busybody Jill perish who filed a an animal. Cruelty lawsuit against the teacher was he a high school teacher middle middle school junior. Cross cross. Defense attorney did not dispute the accuracy of the story whatsoever. But did add that the puppy was sick. And likely to die soon that poppy was annoying the pub- the puppy had it coming. So this all started when Crossland son Mario had been given the puppy by farmer who informed him that. It was sick and dying. And it was like we'd what what the fuck like does this kid live in a sop fables? Did this happen when he made a wrong turn on a country road? Like a kid you want this sick puppy? Anyway, it is worth farmer would only give him a dying runt. Yeah. We'll also who the fuck did you ever get a puppy from when you were a teenager? The country. They give away like on the side of the road. Yeah. I'm curious about the farmers former Mario relationship, if he asked me farm farmer went by nickname of cutthroat anymore when his sister, they got the puppy. They tried to nurse it back to health. But look after a day. It was clear that this puppy was going to die. So they did the natural thing and gave it to their dad to feed it to his snake. They gave the puppy of fucking day, and they gave it to their creepy, dad. Like if it was that sick. They probably shouldn't have except. Hey, hey, you guys gonna use that sick puppy? That's what makes us really weird. Like, you can tell pretty quickly when puppies are young runs that probably aren't going to make it. So it's so weird that the farmer would give this kid a run that was. Yeah. So in the morning on the day of the feeding Crossland had brought the puppy to work, and he tried to feed it to a snake in the classroom before the students got there in the snake? Look up at cross on fended is blatant stereotyping. It's come on, bro. Really? So cross took the puppy back to his vehicle which happens to be a van, and he left it there for the rest of the day. So he's got a snake in the classroom. He's got multiple reptiles in the classroom. They're they're like pretty obvious you walk into class. Knicks just got a puppy inside. It's. Crowns was in the court. He like took the stand was like my pappy used to make me watch Curtis kill puppies off the time..
