"But you had a chance to make some magic and you didn't. Yeah. And you wrote us 'cause you knew it, too. Yeah. Is this a dice? You know what you did? Yeah, I think in the future I would either not map out an area that had nothing in it, or I would just add a little something, or I would be like, there's nothing there, but there is something here and you notice that because you got an at 20. This is just a general rule for D&D. If you ever have a map, if you ever have a board and you put something weird out there, it is all anyone's going to do. Or don't let people roll investigation if there's literally nothing to find ever. I just can't get the image out of my head of this person with their little D&D battle mat. And they've drawn everything out, but then they clearly spent hours on the road. Yeah. You decorated the map. You thought you thought nobody was going to check that out. What if the nav 20 was like, you see through the folds of time and reality to the creator. This rug will put this here to tie the room together. That's good. Yeah. That's good too. Even that. Yeah. Yeah, you can do a cheeky little joke. Yeah. Anything's possible. It could be a joke. What is the punishment here? The players get to take one of your rugs. Oh, yes. You got to get a rogue for the party. Yeah. Okay. Great. And it can't be from overstock or Wayfair. Let's go local. Let's go vintage. Vintage. Find something on Craigslist that's still expensive. Yes. That's good. Like in a state stale, but like the kids are not letting things go easy. Put something

James Lindsay and Sebastian Discuss Far-Left Sexual Indoctrination

"Little couple of selections from the head of safety at Twitter. I think I found my calling and it's writing dialog for chef themed porn. Yeah, okay, thank you. Can high school students ever meaningfully consent to sex with their teachers? Why would you be asking that? Doing research on Craigslist sex discussion boards begs the question main browser or porn browser. That sounds to me like the normalization of porn. Let's connect the dots. Let's go to balenciaga. Here's the image of the toddler, the little child holding a teddy bear in bondage gear and then of course we have the document in the suit from the Supreme Court decision on child pornography and then last week we have the dean of that very Tony school in Philadelphia being caught on video by veritas talking about the children in the school having lessons that involved sex toys, sex, toys for miners. None of this stuff, you know, but let's start with balenciaga balenciaga's part and parcel of this discussion is not this isn't just some random photographer, is it James? No, one of the things that these societies, if we think of them as esoteric religions brought down into the modern and contemporary time, that they have to do is they have to signal where they are with regard to the cult to other people. They try to do so subtly. They put out images like this so that you look at them in either you ignore it or it doesn't register or you're a little bit shocked or you make some noise, but somebody who knows what it means knows what it means. And so they now know that that organization is part of the initiate class. So it's like this is the 21st century equivalent of the secret handshake, correct? That's right. It's secret handshakes all over social media with coded imagery and coded language encoded words. That's right.

"They were chill as a Q&A. We are robots from the other world. We are part of the sore loser. They may not have all those, but guess what they'd get. The app. They went for sure get the app. Oh my God. Hey, can I tell my degenerate story? Yes, please. Guys, you ready? Ready. Yeah? Okay. So I used to live downtown or whatever. And it was just the most perfect thing to sell crap. Because all you would do is just like, you could almost sell it on the street or whatever, but I would sell it on Craigslist was the best one, okay? So I was selling this luxury item. Let's just say shoes, for example. Are you guys listening? All right, so I meet this guy across. Get the out. I meet this guy at the park. You might get the story on that. Hey, this is my degenerate gambler moment. I meet the guy at the park. They lose shoes. I'm not trying to hide it. I was selling shoes. I was selling luxury. So what you are using as an example to throw everyone off was actually what you were saying. And so I wanted to charge the dude a 120, okay? All he was going to give me is, I think it was like $70. So he's trying to rip me off 50 bucks. And he goes, listen, why don't we just flip a coin and you go

"My comfort zone. And then my comfort zone kept getting bigger and bigger. You know? And so I think that's how you build confidence is you do the thing that's scary and it's like a little outside. And when I first started coinbase, I had never managed anybody. I would have never I would have been scared to death to have put out a very controversial opinion like that and sort of all right, 5% of people will go, we didn't know what percent it was going to be, by the way. It could have been 1%. It could have been 50%. But we went into it scary because it was a scary thing. I was like, I don't know, I think this is right. I'm just going to do it. So if you do enough scary things like you'll build the confidence, and I feel like I'm still on that journey. Every year or two at coinbase, there's some big thing that comes out is like, oh my God, I didn't sleep well for a week and this is the next level. But that's how you learn and grow. So you're still going up that mountain through the fog one step at a time. Yeah. Can I just quickly ask you about a couple other efforts that are super interesting? Do you involved with? So first of all, a little bit more old school fascinating effort of research hub. So what's that about? The GitHub for open science. Yeah, okay, so basically I've had a chance to try to help a couple other companies get off the ground too because I want to see various efforts out there succeed. And one of them, I've always thought about why is scientific research not more like open-source software? Or why couldn't it be much faster? You've probably seen this in an academic setting, right? But there's all kinds of things that feel very antiquated to me about scientific research. Everything from the funding process and grants to help peer review works to how you submit the journals, all the costs associated with journals. The people you think you'd get paid for this or something and it would then be available to all the taxpayers for free, but no, they're like, they're all paywalled, and there's these big companies that have sort of, in my view, kind of held back innovation here. So the preprint servers like bio archive and archive dot org have really helped this. But those websites, they look like they're kind of from like 15 years ago or something. It's like Craigslist. So anyway, one of the things once coinbase went public last year, I had a little bit of liquidity, and I was like, all right, let me find a small team.

"Do you have for somebody to get over that mindset obstacle of they just lost money? How do they get back into real estate investing and get motivated again? It was a struggle for sure. You got to remember bad things happen for a reason and good things happen for reason as well. I looked at his I just paid for a degree in legal structure for real estate. I paid $6000 to get my degree to protect myself legally in my future endeavors. And thank God it wasn't detrimental to my wife and I and we could continue living our lives the same way that we did. It didn't put us in a really hard bind, I was able to recuperate that money pretty quickly. And I think that's an example right there is that you didn't risk so much that it would cripple you too. Being a beginner investor and having those reserves in place so that you could continue living your life and weren't at risk of going into bankruptcy or foreclosure for your own personal residents. So I think that is just a huge lesson for us all to learn is that there are times to take risk, but don't risk so much that you could be putting your family's future or their livelihood at risk. So I think that's a great lesson for us all to learn and then just when you are talking to partners and people you want to invest with. And I think it's almost ironic that your partner that turned out well, you met through Craigslist or man online and so it's not an example that you can't be random people random places or even online that means they're bad. It's not going to work out because you obviously had it work out for you, but with a different person. Or I'm just a glutton for punishment. My wife was like, dude, I don't care what this guy tells you..

"Sensitive, so all lower case, one word live better. And I will see you in the lab. When should we start with something like start out with aren't you? Something you want to mess with me about. Vanessa got mad at me today because I tried to do the laundry except I put the whites in with the colors. Do you guys remember how old you were when your parents taught you that when you do laundry? Well, can I just say the colors from the whites? Also, I've talked to you about this before. I actually never learned how to do laundry. This was actually a thing when I got married. I was 29 years old and my mom always did the laundry for me. So I didn't know anything about laundry. And then after my divorce, when I moved in with someone I found on Craigslist, I had no idea how to run a dishwasher. So I put regular soap detergent into the dishwashing machine. And then when he came home, it was flooded with suds. Luckily, he thought that was adorable, but yeah, these are just skills that I never learned. You did learn just later, because you know now. Well, I know now, but you know washing whites and colors and stuff like that. It's not something that is ingrained in me, something at the consciously think about it. And also, you said, when the pile got high, I could wash it in the powder that hide. So I just do everything in. Separate our whites from our colors, right guys. Everybody knows that. Yeah, okay. By the way, all my whites are now pink. That's why my frustration. The other day, I gave Vanessa choice, I said, hey, do you want me to pretend like I'm a stranger? And I'm going to have my way with you, or do you want me to make eye contact and make passionate love and her reply was, let's just take a nap. That was your reply. Let's just take a nap. I said, just cuddle with me. Just hold me and let's take a nap. All right, let's get to your questions. Okay, we're looking at them now. There's a bunch of them. Take a question. Any question? Let's see. Okay, if this is an interesting one, because I think that there's a lot of opinions about this one. And I have very strong opinions about this topic. Well, I started opinions about everything. Do you express to your partner? When you find another person in the vicinity attractive? Oh, this is a great question. Oh, what do you think of this? Because this actually has happened to us a few times. Vanessa thinking someone's attractive and pounding it into my head. Oh God..

"So I was like, you know what? I gave it a try. But with the OkCupid at the time, it was just you sent messages and I feel like at the time you had to send like prose and you had to send like three paragraph minimums, acute sign out. So and so where it's like, there was no swiping involved in trying to say. Right. Right. Yes. And miss the swiping bubble. This is a very good reminder because things have moved so quickly that it is really easy to forget that. Yeah, that's, yes, that is what, I mean, well, first before that, online dating was like Craigslist personals, but then it moved into the, oh, what is like the really shitty Christian one? Whatever that was. It's mingle? No, but match. Is it wasn't match originally only for like, it was only I think originally matched, you could only do be on heterosexual. I do remember being hit our sexual because I looked in the match, I think when I started looking at the qubit and that just wasn't an option. Exactly. And I think now match I think this is true, but it's like, it's like, sorry, match. You missed it, 'cause it's like, you know, whatever. But yeah, you're right. I remember a lot of friends were doing the OkCupid thing when it was about like a lot of yeah, missives back and forth, but then like to texting or whatever, which then turned into sexting, which then just turned into actually, here's like a dick, you know? And it is pretty, it's all pretty fucking visual these days. What did you like about your fiance when you were writing missives back and forth? Oh, God, this is so hard. And so, I should know this stuff. No, he I was interested. He was interesting. He's like, in the other room, looking at me, I think. Well, if he finds out that he's interesting, that was really stuck for you. Because you had to keep that inside and don't you ever tell him. He he just hit all the boxes. He was also just like, too like a great person. I was like, okay, you've traveled. You have a job. You have all these you hit all the stereotypical things. And then you see the interesting things a part of that. So we went on a date, yeah, back in 2014. And we are now getting married. How did you dated a bunch of folks before then? Where were you in your sort of like dating career? Yeah. I was very much at that point leaving trying to not date, I guess, 'cause I feel like I was dating for like three years. Of just like going through the app going through date, it's going through a lot of first dates. I got really good with saying the whole. Oh, I had a great time, but that's it. And I was like, was always scared to do that. Like, I'm just dating someone for one time, but the fact that I got fairly good at saying that, I was like, okay, something wrong with me. What's going on? So I dated it was nothing but dating before that. Yeah. I'm actually like, I feel stunned because I that is like that's beautiful. I like to learn that skill, but even just for friendship. There's still a skill of you know, it's like I'm sure there's somebody for you. It's not me. Good luck with the rest of your life. That's great. That sounds very freeing. It was liberating. It was phenomenal..

"So think of it as a vessel to create whatever it is you came to earth to do. So that is my number three meditation meditation spend time thinking about how generous you're going to be thinking about how creative you're going to be and just be really, really happy in those thoughts in those meditations. Number four, being grateful for everything that you already have. Every minute of every day, I spend a lot of time driving or whatever I'm doing, looking up at the sky and saying thank you to the universe for all the things that I have. Like I said, I have been working on healing my money trauma for a while, and while I am not where I imagine I would like to be to be able to create all the things that I want to create. I look back on where I was and I have a lot of really beautiful things now that I did not have. And I don't think I would have them if I wasn't working on my money story and my money trauma. One of those things being the condo that I currently live in because I was living in tiny little $700 253 150 ft² studios with no full kitchen with the place I had before that was a little apartment with really horrible screaming neighbors because I didn't believe that I could afford more. And I just started to think about the place that I wanted to be. I started to imagine my yoga room. I started to imagine having a washer and dryer and a dishwasher. I started to imagine having a kitchen. And I thought about it for probably a long time. It took 6, 7 months, and I have bad credit, so I'm hard to rent to. And for all reasons, it should have been really, really quote unquote, impossible for me to find this place, but I did. And I found it on Craigslist. I didn't even see pictures. I just emailed the lady, she met me, and out of hundreds of applicants, she just liked me and she rented it to me without checking my credit. And so I know that the mindset work that I have done has afforded me the things that I have right now, and I haven't had a single problem paying the rent since I got here, even though it is 5 to $600 more than I was used to paying because I asked for and believed in the ability that it was possible. So I share that because there are things that you can bring in with your thoughts and you can also continue to bring it in with your gratitude thoughts. So gratitude is a vibration and the universe responds to gratitude. Like brings like, it's the law of attraction. And so if you are pissed off and angry that you don't have enough, the universe is going to keep giving you not enough feelings, not enough vibrations in your physical.

"Scraper had this wonderful article called bullshit jobs a few years back. And then he wrote a whole book about it, where according to one study, more than a third of everyone who goes to work feels like their work is meaningless. But it's bullshit. And you go like, jeez. That's harsh. Particularly if you're going to do it for a long time. That's just got to eat away at the soul. I think what's hard about the statement is the word universe is like couldn't be bigger. It's like the universe. So in some ways, it sounds like what we're saying is make a dent in the biggest thing ever. You must be huge, you know, it can kind of come off as a little bit confusing. It's the same thing with world. It's like people are like, change the world. The thing is, there's no such thing as the world. There's many little worlds as long as you can have a little bit of an impact and the one that you're in, whatever that is, that's probably enough. But yeah, I think thinking about it again like universe is probably the wrong word. Actually, because it's impossible to live up to that in a sense. It should be mega dent in your universe. Yeah. Oh, I like that. I like that. Yeah. Although I'd say, too, that there's things don't necessarily have to be in conflict. Like some of the examples we use, the drudge report and Craigslist. Like, for example, now Craigslist is not necessarily the thing most people will think about instant like, oh, what's cool stuff on the Internet, right? Clearly it left a dent. Right. I think that's perhaps the other thing is, I think we use this example somewhere else, which is really a data example, which is the what was it called the flip camera? Oh, I love the flip. The flip, right? The flip camera lived in a short period of time. It burned very brightly for what three, four years got sold for I think over a $1 billion and then became completely irrelevant as soon as smartphones got to have cameras. But they still totally left a den. While they were there, the same thing, I think actually, you take the smartphone example. The iPod. If I ask my kids, what's an iPod? They're like, it's an iPod. What do you mean? What's an iPod? You have your phone. Your iPads. That's where you play your music. The iPod, leave a dent. Oh hell yeah, it is. We're talking on something called a podcast. That means nothing without the iPod. Yeah, exactly. I think that's the other part here is that it's not that everything has to live forever. That's the other thing that really annoys me about a lot of entrepreneurial lore is this idea that, oh, we're building a hundred year company. I think that was something that was it ever note or someone else who went out and said like, oh, we're building a hundred year company. Hey, how about you just try to survive for 5? 5 years, could you do 5? Like, actually Mogo technology companies can't do 5 years. How long was the reign of the iPod? I don't even think it was 5 years, was it? This is a major dent left in most people's universe who were around at that time. And it lasted for a moment. That's so great because you got to do that while it was happening. I think some people look upon this idea of a legacy as unless it's eternal..

"You're just setting incremental goals versus really big ones. Remember, the title of this podcast series is how to think bigger in a world that wants to keep you small. So what would be a radical goal that you don't actually know how to accomplish? Well, maybe your magic number is numbers is three listings, but you actually know how to do that. In fact, you know how to do that really well. You just haven't been doing it. Well, just so the question would be like, what's the maximum number of listings you've ever had at one time, bob? And bob will say three. And then your coach, you know, it will say, well, then you definitely know how to take three listings. Oh yeah, I could do that no problem. So okay, you could have three listings at all times. How about ten? How would you take ten lists of ten all the time? Well, we're really sinking today. Well, so what would you have to do? What would you have to stop doing? And I gave another example instead of wanting a 15 foot ski boat that you could probably buy used on Craigslist this afternoon and put it on a credit card. Maybe. Yeah. Maybe you figure out how to buy a hundred foot yacht. Well, maybe you don't know anything about that. You'll have to expand your exposure, which will in turn make you think bigger. And even the people that you'll have to talk to about it will expand your thoughts. Like, who do you know that has a hundred foot? Yeah, what's that like? So I'll tell you about a funny conversation I had. I did tell you about this. So, no, I didn't tell you about that. Tell me. So I'm on the phone with somebody. I'm not going to mention his name. And this person is one of the largest EXP guys, and he earns, I mean, I'll just say it. You guys won't believe it, but he's probably going to earn next year between 15 and $20 million. And that's all from revenue share. From EXP relative. Yes. And so I asked him what are his goals for next year and he rattled off, well, I want to do this and the other thing. I go, was there anything else? And he goes, well, I've really been thinking about buying a private plane. And then his own plane. And then he goes, you know, but I've been thinking, so how would you go about accomplishing that? And he didn't know. Oh, now that's a good goal. Yeah. He's thinking big. "I was going to talk about the events situation at the top of this week. Show but the only fan situation seems resolved itself only fans is a platform where people can subscribe to content creators who then share exclusive photos and videos on the side. It's a site worth billions. Thanks to the sex workers and porn performer. The platform marketed itself to recruited when it first launched in two thousand sixteen and then a week ago only fans announced it was banning all sexually explicit content from its site because banks credit card. Companies processors were forcing them to they reversed course in a week. Only fans turned around and said a week later. Basically we hear you and announced that they weren't gonna ban sexually explicit content after all and would no longer be pivoting who. I don't know what what they plan to pivot to the week. Before last based tune teenagers doing lip syncs and cooking tutorials and other shit people can get for free on youtube and dick doc right now. How are you going to make money at that. But that was their plan a week and a half ago. What seems to have made the difference here. And what. I see as a sign of real progress the new york times washington post. Cnn daily papers. Npr mainstream publications went to sex workers and porn stars to get quotes about how only fans was doing to them. What facebook and instagram and craigslist had already done to them and how this being driven off the internet was making their lives harder and sex work more dangerous not a radical sex work not ending it just making it more dangerous. That's new and it made a huge difference. Abigail higgins has a terrific piece at the lily. Sex workers rallied together when only fans band sexually explicit content. They believed their voices are finally being heard. That's the headline. go read it. I'm not the only one who thinks that this new development reporters talking to sex workers about sex work is making a difference is creating some sort of seismic shift some

"It's just hilarious that they went to craigslist to do it. Furious locals complain that their villages peace and quiet was shattered by the screaming and moaning from a swinger festival. Yes the angry locals have complained. They had a swingers festival descend upon their village over the weekend. I don't know how they didn't know this was coming. Four hundred swingers took part in a four day sex fest that included a mobile dungeon and bondage demos. Ooh good times. My guess is this is the most exciting thing that's happened to your village and hundreds of years. You should welcome swingers fest anything to bring in the money guys. Come on the happy. Campers aka swingers descended on fields near grantham lincolnshire. I believe that's how you pronounce it lincolnshire and when you live in lincolnshire you must say brilliant all the time. Everything is brilliant. Brilliant except for that six fest. That wasn't brilliant. What's the name of the sex fest by the swing. Th on have you guys here to swing a thon. Ebony view attended swing a thon. it's brilliant attending swinging. Yes yes yes. We're going to switch phones on this weekend. Yeah we're going to have tea. And engaging in orgiastic feast of sort we ever ever dungeon brilliant brilliant a dungeon yes bought about the swinging lifestyle those villages. They don't know what's coming of moaning and groaning in. The village is very late moaning last night. I heard you renfrew moaning all night. He has since. I was a creepy. I certainly was moaning all night. You heard me. Oh yes well you know. These things tend to happen when you go to a dungeon mona bit. Yes is more. Would you like some sugar. Joe t the swing. A thon was almost canceled. After organizers claimed it was too much of a hassle. It's just such a hassle to organize a swingers fest during a pandemic has imagine among other issues like a village. Not knowing you're showing up. Apparently they didn't know didn't know the chamber of commerce doesn't let everybody know. Hey put some flyers on a telephone pole something to let the village know that a swinger this coming you okay now case. You're wondering how much does it cost. Good swinger fest. It's about two hundred pounds ticket and it offers fetish. Demos hot tubs. Which means other things of course. Because you know what's going on in the hot tub. How safe is it to get it on. In the hot tub during a pandemic. They offered a naked singer. Seems pretty. That's kinda lame you go into swinger fest and there. Hey by the way. We have a naked singer. Yes so we're all naked the whole time. So what else singing and moaning all night and there was also a miss and mister swing a thon competition and they were going to give away some Kinky prizes for the missing. Mr swing a thon swinging when that competition. How do you even win that competition. Would you just gotta like sleep with everybody and the win. She went down on all four hundred people twice. Okay couples could also enjoy adult bouncy castles. Ooh that sounds like a good time. I want to enjoy an adult bouncy castle. A mobile dungeon. I don't know how safe that is. What does that. let's just like a dungeon in a little in the back of a pickup truck. The mobile dungeon and want to know wet t-shirt competitions who. I don't know how it wet t-shirt competition during a swinger fest really. Who's who's going to that. You just saw everybody naked in your mouth. You're going to go to wet t-shirt competition after that. I mean who's going to that like the naked singer. I should organize the swing fest. I know what to do. You can also sleep in a four person year. Well that's not going to attract swingers because swingers are used to sleeping with like forty people at the same time you're person year really they. They claim that all the events are cova compliant. That's a joke. Oh fiction can be fun. But i prefer the reference section. It's cova compliant my ass. Swing a thon goes so that in some ice cubes up in antarctica. Okay now as you can imagine. There are some reports that suggest actually limited corona virus guidelines. Were in place at the swing fest. Including there was a lack of social distancing. No way you mean. Swingers weren't social distancing. They were all in a giant pile of limbs. Hardly social distancing you really you might as well try and ban skull from a baseball game seriously. Also it says here. There was a lack of hygiene facilities. That's not okay. It's a swing fest man. You have to have some sort of hygiene facilities. You've got to have a little place where you can wash all the body fluid of strangers off your private parts and other places okay. They were also offering a sweet bar. Which i assume is for like chocolates and whatnot. Sounds pretty good. Maybe some fondue and the also offer outdoor cinema which i assume was a giant porn screen and get this clay pigeon shooting because when you think of swinger activities you think clay pigeon shooting now for the sake of this article. They asked somebody to please explain what was going on. Who attended it and they were told that well everyone was asked to take a test. So that doesn't worry me so much. It's all pretty spaced out. You know but there is a lack of lose and washing facilities and well no social distancing. That's all we need to know for the sake of this piece. They actually called the phone number connected to the event website in. We're told i don't have to tell you anything that sums it up right there. You like podcasts..

"A gunman is hired off craigslist. To shoot down a neighborhood peacock. And a swinger fest descends upon a quiet and peaceful village and a mother is in trouble for putting non alcoholic vodka in her kids lunches. These are the weird stories for thursday on weird a f news the daily weird news podcast hosted by a comedian. I'm your host and producer jones. Josie and i appreciate you being with me today. We got some weird stories from around the world come on someone hired a gunman on craigslist to shoot a peacock using craigslist with some gangster activity. I didn't know you could use craigslist for some gangster activity but apparently you can or just to hire somebody to shoot some foul some pesky foul of used craigslist for some weird things. What weird sort of things. Jones e. many weird things. I'll tell you one of them. I once hired someone to dress up as a ninja to deliver boxes of cream puffs to my talent agents in new york city. That's right. I hired someone dressed as a ninja to deliver cream puffs. Would you come up with that idea. Jones let's just say i was on a lot of chemicals back then in new york city. Having a good time wanted to make people happy. I hired a ninja craigslist. Okay back to the story. Not that i even began the story. Let's begin at a peacock had been a staple in the california neighborhood for many years. It was found shot dead after someone posted a craigslist ad. Taking out a hit on the peacock. Now i've been coming across these articles about annoying peacocks taking over neighborhoods in california. I didn't cover them on the podcast. I was considering it. Because apparently they're quite a nuisance. They ruin your car. The attack children someone. I was sick of it. Hired someone to shoot a peacock. Let's get some more information here. The craigslist ad went up on june thirteenth. A little more than two weeks before the peacock was apparently killed. The peacock was a nickname. Mr p or zule which is spanish for blue. here's a quote from a resident. That clearly was a fan of mr p. It's like really sad because he probably suffered for at least two or three hours before he died. Like possibly more really. What did you do an autopsy on. The peacock lady suffered two or three hours. And is that what you're concerned about. You're not concerned that someone hired a gunman off craigslist in your neighborhood. That seems more concerning than the suffering of the peacock. Someone hired someone to pull out a gun in your neighborhood and shoot a bird right in plain sight. That's a little more alarming that there's people with guns that are going to craigslist for work in your hood and people in your hood hiring gunmen online for like seventy five dollars. That's should be more concerning to you resident. Who's to say like you throw a party. That's a little too loud next thing you know. Blam blam blam blam little drive by three a little picnic. The neighbor also was quoted as saying one of the neighbor's daughters had actually recalled seeing a craigslist ad in search of a peacock assassin. Was that really. The name of the ad. Peacock assassin needed now. Apparently they've found this ad because the idiot that put it up never took it down. This is called covering your tracks. Guys she should take down the ad. You hired a gunman online that you left the add up weeks after the the the incident so the ad was first reported by a local outlet. A craigslist wanted section. The title was someone get rid of a peacock and within it added. They want the animal dead quote by any means necessary. The author wasn't identified claiming that the bird had first appeared in the neighborhood. Four months ago complained about being awakened by its calls the ad read. Please contact me. So we can form a strategy to eliminate this bird also to agree on how much you will be compensated. The resident mentioned that many people in the community appreciated the peacock and would often bring their children over to take pictures with the beautiful peacock. She said even the ups guy would take pictures. Sometimes people would come make deliveries. It was a very communal peacock. You know it makes the rounds and says hi to everybody in the neighborhood. It was beloved beloved. Now it's being investigated. The crimes are currently animal cruelty and conspiracy to commit a crime if you have any information about the peacock assassin reach out to authorities guys very serious situation and look. I don't mean to make light of the assassination of a peacock really. It's a very serious thing. We can't have people shooting birds in the neighborhood.

What Will the World Look Like When Crytpo Is Fully Adopted?

"What do you think the world will look like. Once crypto has been adopted. There's there's two sort of visions. I think i don't maybe we can just be honest ourselves. Sometimes i worry about the vision. We have for currency so aware. I started and i have a lot of respect for jeremy in the team at circle. Because back when i was in grad slow boston actually used circle to violate quinlan. So kudos huge you. Jeremy you saved me from my days for buying the clan on craigslist in using fan. So i could do how well yeah. So you obsolete neat stack my my sats. The early days of the coin The i think they're sort of two visions and they're two very different visions the vision. I've always had for bitcoin that i think. Really compelling one is the separation for the first time of money and state. Money has been object of the state since julius caesar stamped his face on a gold coin and i think really the experiment. We're attempting here like the world is no longer defined by physical orders. We live in a very digital world. Anyone could be anyone on. The internet has many different identities many different communities where part of sometimes as our default reality south. Sometimes where donnas you know there are a lot of eggs anonymous individuals citing. We live in this really interesting world that is truly becoming borderless antony. Bitcoin really represents the evolution of money transfer value in that world. But in the same time. I think governments are looking at bitcoin Right now we're living in a world where governments are trying to ban math. They're literally encryption. We done this time and time again. For the last twenty five years since incriptions existed but the advent of central bank digital currencies. In certainly what. We've seen in the asia pacific region in particular the advent of dc p. and Sort of national quote unquote digital currencies. You do have a lot of concerns around the ability for people to have financial privacy. Privacy transactions privacy communications so we have these two very different paths down which we're heading. I don't know if they're gonna coexist. Don't know if it's going to be an ethic collision and i know jeremy also you know than working a lot on uscc which which arguably has replay here. But i think the future of joe currencies in our society is sort of at this. Very interesting impasse. I want bitcoin to exist. Ideally people have the right to privacy that people have the right to sue committee in their transactions. But i think governments certainly do not like that and are advocating now for the antithesis of that which is central bank digital currencies and monetary systems that. Give them complete control the ability to exert financial censorship at every level of society. Driving up tacit. Tiv know early. There's so much there. I i guess i it just as a technologist The to the question of you know. When will this be mainstream or however you wanna call that my view is that you know. Things are mainstream in terms of technology when they disappear when they're invisible people and and when when essentially like people just take take them for granted right and said depending on your age and depending on where you are like. You might take for granted social media. But obviously that wasn't something that existed Wherever x. number of years ago you might take for granted that you have this amazing you know Supercomputer that just like that is reality. That is what the world was but obviously that had changed so at. What point is the use of crypto so ubiquitous and so embedded in so many things that we just take it for granted so were were. We have credited ago on that. But i think we're making really really strong progress. I think when. I also think about that question. I really think about Crypto and blockchain Is is. It's a pretty broad surface area right. You can be narrowly focused and sort of say there's non-sovereign stores value that use of blockchain infrastructure. You know bitcoin cash you know cetera et cetera which i completely agree with melting right. There's this this is this new form of borderless internet money and it will continue to grow and scale. And i'm i'm quite quite optimistic about that. But then there's the the fundamentals of the broader technology right so you know public chain infrastructure as effectively a new operating system layer on the internet. A new set of systems for storing data conducting transactions and executing code. That's what operates systems can help. Do these new operating system layers are very very general purpose in many respects there well suited to what i call fiduciary trust applications but can also be you know i. I was in a hackathon panel with melting the other day and we are looking at someone who built a decentralized messaging application on top of salona. The point being anti-centralized fantasy football fans in so digital games. You know messaging applications all these things on decentralized infrastructure web three cetera. Like that part of this is also a very very important part of this and so and you know something like stable coins like regulated stable coins like a us dc or potentially libra like these. These are also like apps that run on this new operating systems and could be quite popular. And so i think in terms of the question of when does that become mainstream. I think we're really close there. I think in the next twelve to twenty four months many of the most popular digital wallet products in the world that are used that we think of unused like as peer payments. And things like that. They're gonna turn on these protocols they're gonna turn these on and you're going to have you know all of a sudden hundreds of millions of people that can make interoperable payments at each other and that will kind of be in the background. That will be invisible. You'll you'll just you won't be trapped in making payments to people who then mo you'll be able to make payments between van mo and square cash and pay pal and swish in sweden and vips in norway. And you know go around the world to all these different apps. They're all going to speak. These common protocols in i think that's a a mainstream phase in digital currency. That's that's coming. I think ultimately that same number of people who might feel okay like i'm using euros or dollars or whatnot feeling comfortable using bitcoin that will grow to and eventually i would expect billions of people will will wanna use bitcoin to

Sorry folks, you need to upgrade phone every year now

"We may not like I'm going to say so let me just get it out. Get used to it. It's time to just keep your phones for a year that's it period. Upgrade every twelve months because as good as your old phone is upgrading makes a lot more economic sense. And why fight it apple Samsung and Google do such an amazing job. Every twelve months of convincing us why we need to ditch the old model for the new I say you just go with it. Now, there's many websites online that will buy your old phone from you and apple best buy in the wireless carriers play that game too or you could sell it yourself on Ebay or craigslist maybe make a little bit more money. But in order to get good dollars for the device, it needs to be the latest model. For instance declutter DOT COM, they'll pay four hundred and fifty nine dollars for last year's iphone eleven pro or five hundred dollars for the eleven pro Max. The models that initially sold for a thousand dollars in eleven hundred dollars. Now, apple promises to offer just about the same in trading credit four, hundred, fifty or five hundred dollars now granted your device has to be in good condition without a cracked screen and noticeable wear and tear apple insists that it turns on and functions normally all the buttons and cameras work. The body is free of dents and scratches, and at the touchscreen and back glass are undamaged good luck with that one. Now Apple, ask you to answer those questions online, and if they agree that you have indeed been truthful, you get the five hundred dollar credit or. Quote if your device does not match the condition you described, you'll receive a revised trade in. Value Unquote. Let's say apple only gives you four hundred dollars for a new phone and you nabbed thousand dollar iphone twelve pro for six hundred bucks plus tax, and you plan to trade it back twelve months from now your cost of ownership a dollar sixty, five a day. For a device that you will use every day all day for email texts, web serving facebook, posting tweets, paying for goods, stores, hailing an Uber or lift listening to music, watching movies and TV shows taking all those amazing photos and sharing them everywhere under the sun. Now the point is a dollar sixty five a day is that really minor purchase even when you do the math and expanded to eleven dollars and fifty five cents a weekly or fifty dollars monthly. Now, in Apple's new phone, you get stronger glassed it says is four times less likely to crack a camera that takes better photos in low light higher resolution video, a more powerful processing chip for spiff your performance, and as good as the eleven pro model is is just not as good. If you don't feel like selling I understand but hear me out because if you go back further in time you're older phones just aren't worth much. The tennis Max will get your three, hundred, seventy bucks the tennis three, hundred dollars the ten are two, fifty, the eight, plus two, ten, the eight, one, forty, and considering that these older phones have more years on them. The odds of them nabbing the amount of money that apple tout's is really remote. Now, just to confuse you even more the carriers have basically turned the corner and they're sort of offering free phones in deals again with that new two year or slightly longer contract, the iphone twelve is free with at and T.. Trade in thirty month commitment to paying sixty eight dollars and forty nine cents monthly for an unlimited plan. But I think that they'll stinks because you're on the hook for two thousand and fifty four dollars you're locked into a plan they could charge more than rivals and you'll have to pay a penalty to leave early. Trading Street to apple or selling to a use site makes a lot more sense financially. T mobile throws a hundred and fifty dollar gift card on top your trade-in. Once you sign up for service, which is good while verizon sells you the new phone on time fifteen dollars monthly for existing customers were ten dollars thirty seven cents monthly for new customers with a two year term on top of the trade in again, you'll pay a lot more for the phone this way. So a way better deal sign up for apple's credit card, which offers no interest monthly installments for the new phone over a two year period with a four hundred dollars traded on the iphone eleven pro you're looking at twenty dollars and seventy nine cents monthly. Now, that's a two year contract. You'll have to Weasel Anna in twelve months but apple says, you can do it and it ends up clocking in at sixty nine cents a day and you WanNa hold onto your old phone. Really.

RH Profits With Travel Spending Shifted to High-End Home Decor

"The company formerly known as restoration hardware. Honey Monster second quarter profits much higher than expected strong overall sales. And shares of RH are up more than twenty, two percent today in the stock sitting in all time high. Are you just kind of interesting because a lot of what we're talking about right now is people will look at revenue growth look at dooms growth in the quarter or all of these different companies and are each only increased revenue less than a percent. But the really impressive thing was like you said, Christie increase in their gross margin, they're operating margin and. They're not march and their earnings per share. So I think it's kind of a different look than a different response than we've been seeing a lot for these high growth tech stocks. This is more of a company that showing they have a lot of pricing power and they are growing in a less a way that we haven't seen very a lot recently. Yeah RH is. For anyone who's ever been in the restoration hardware you it's one of those stores you walk in. It's like. Well, it's it's clearly nice stuff. It's quality merchandise. Some of it is exceptionally pricey, but I think this. This probably goes along with the narrative. In the same direction as the narrative that we've seen in the last six months with companies like wayfair and Home Depot and Lowe's where. More people are looking around the homes that they are trapped in and saying all right I'm if I'm not going to go on a vacation I'm gonNA spend money improving this place that I live in. Yeah and that was called out in the share holder letter for this quarter, they talk about the elevated level of spending in the home. So yet the booming real estate activity accelerated shift for moving to your home. A lot of people are leaving the city's moving to the suburbs and then taken homebuilding trying to renovate to make sure their workplace is the best place they can have possible and because you're talking about it, I did spend a good chunk of my morning on the restoration hardware look book website, and I now want to buy a five thousand dollar couch. Well I'll be look I'd like to buy A. New Couch. It costs five thousand dollars in. That's why I'm just gonNa stick with couch that I have. The last check what's on craigslist for one hundred dollars? For the growth that this stock has seen and look, we've seen a lot of stocks you mentioned Zoom Zoom in this category, even with the recent drop over the past week or so Tesla, which started out the year at around eighty five dollars a share is still. Around I don't know this morning before the market opened it was close to three ninety. Restoration hardware is up roughly five times in value. Since late March, I, Know Cherry picking the bottom, but it's a reminder that it's not just the. Sexy tech companies that can have these kinds of returns. where I'm going with this Maria, is that for all of this growth restoration hardware and I can't call it h I'm sorry. This company still seven and a half billion dollar company. This is not huge. Do you think? This is still an acquisition target because it seems like sort of thing in the same way that people have said about wayfair despite wayfair growth. You know someone could still come in and make them an offer. Restoration hardware is. Not a very big company and it appears to be very well run, and as you said, they're really doing good things with their margins. I think it's a possibility. So wayfair is about twenty four, billion dollars right now I? Think it has a niche within the luxury market and that's what in their earnings call. They also talk about how they. Have elevated their shift to a luxury brand with luxury market with luxury margins at a higher pace than they anticipated and so I think that if you're looking to expand into this niche, it would be a really interesting acquisition target for them. They do in their letter also talk about all of their long-term growth plans and some of them are kind of lofty they're planning. To Open hotels, they have a luxury yacht called the h three that is available for charter in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. So they have pretty lofty goals of what they want to be. So I wonder if they don't think they want to be acquired but I think if I was a company looking to grow into that luxury niche, this would be something I'd be considering.

5 Ways to Spice Up Your Pix Life

"Much has been written about the evils of your Acquisition Syndrome often referred to as gas. And the US. It is a real thing for many photographers. But my personal view of this election is isolated more to spending big bucks on cameras and lenses. What about those smaller purchases that bring us true joy and energize our enthusiasm for photography. I'll make my anti gas case on today's tedious podcast I. Hope You enjoy the show. I don't know if you've ever done this but I'm going to admit you right now. That I have okay. Now fortunately is just you and me so you know no one else will. No I've never I've never admitted this anywhere else before. And this is the truth I'm telling you the truth right now. So but just from my mouth to your ears right now have you ever Set. A new camera or an accessory for it. On. The table in front of you while you worked watch TV listen to music you know just. said it there It wasn't in use. There was no particular reason to do this. Other than you just wanted to look at it and admire it's beauty. I've done that. Honestly, I. I have done that more than once. To cases that come to mind right now, the first one is the Olympus pen. F. In its handsome leather half case Oh. My Gosh. What a beauty So pretty. The other one is the Fujifilm x one hundred V with its aluminum grip? Yeah. That's pretty two different cameras you know the my pen F is a silver Penev. Got Some really beautiful silver lenses and I get this brown leather half case with a matching rhys strap. Really Nice and then my ex one hundred V is the all black model which I really liked for the Fuji Film. And it has this aircraft aluminum grip really really pretty. Really Nice. And when I look at these things sitting on the table in front of me. While I'm watching TV, while I'm listening to music while I'm browsing the web doing whatever the heck. I do at ten o'clock at night. It makes me WANNA go out and take pictures you know I go i. Can't wait to get that camera my hands and go do something. And that's the idea that's the idea and especially right now that's the idea. To be excited to have enthusiasm to you know want to go do something that you actually can do pick up your camera and go take pictures when we're a bit stale feeling that stale how can we spark this kind of joy? Without digging our credit cards for a fifteen hundred dollar charge in my trick as you've already figured out has been through new accessories and techniques, and you may be surprised to know that I have five of these. To share with you this week. Okay. So let's let's get started on these little things. This is my anti-gas list. Okay. Because they don't qualify they don't call not one of these qualify. For Gear Acquisition Syndrome and you can argue that with me but I'm not going to yield on this on already. Here we got and I'm GonNa fool with you on the first one the first one's. GonNa. Mess with you right out of the shoot. The first one is a new Lens. Coin what you just said, right a new lens but a vintage one. Yes. So it's only new to you is been around for a long time. Yes. You could spend twelve hundred dollars on a new state of the art optic no problem. You can spend more than that if you wanted. But scoring of vintage beauty for one hundred dollars or less. Can Be just as satisfying in evokes a far less guilt. In the images that this glass producers can truly inspiring because it seems like each lens that you find on Ebay or craigslist or Oetzi or your local camera shop each vintage lens that you find has a different feel to it and. Go. Wow. This is really Kinda neat and sometimes in the world of digital optics everything sort of produces the same super magnificent results right which is great. Until you know a thousand frame of the same super magnificent result and he got I really would like to see something different. A new vintage lens can do that. And since most of US shoot murless or have a meritless camera, they adapt these lenses adapt. So well, meritless cameras. It's not even funny. You can get an adapter for like fifteen bucks at works. Great. You have this manual Focus Lens you take some pictures with it. You're going. Wow, this is really interesting. This looks different. It's different operating is different looking through the electronic viewfinder with it's just different the way around and it can be very motivating very inspiring. It can push you to photograph things that you might bypass otherwise just because turn out interesting with this particular Lens.

New Xbox Series X Controller Leaks Suggest Potential Launch Date

"Soft new xbox series ex consul confirmed and leaked controller packaging via the verge Microsoft is rumored to be unveiling its second cheaper next xbox console. Console this month and it looks like it will definitely be called. xbox series s the verge has obtained photos of Microsoft's new. Next Gen. xbox controller, and white complete with packaging that mentions the xbox series s twitter user. Zach S was able to purchase the controller today and we've confirmed it's genuine. The new controller was sold on a resale site today and side of the packaging notes that the controller works with xbox series X and. S Consoles make has not officially unveiled. An xbox series s yet nor has the company even confirmed that white xbox series x controller mysterious white xbox series controller also appeared online last month complete with the new deep add texture triggers in new share button. This league matches the previous controller leak and retail packaging suggests that this could be appearing in store. Soon, quote we have a lot in store for xbox in two, thousand, twenty, eight share. You says a Microsoft spokesperson in a statement to the verge. Announce at this time. So if you look on your twitter mice where timely in particular and I'm sure you're well, there are a lot of videos of these controllers being embarks in touched and flipped around, and I'm not sure we're. Watching right now. Yeah. Not sure where they're all exactly coming from I thought I had read something about stores being looted. And the thought is maybe they were in stock at that best buy that was being looted. Who knows because he rumored released? There was a rumor that the series was going to come out in August I believe. So if that was to be believed or maybe it's gotten pushback. Anyway, there's some rumored evidence that these controllers could be in at stores who could say, but if you look at the controller itself, it was I. Think you actually have an elite controller on your desk, don't you because the D pad for this new one looks very similar to that I mean at least it as it from this photo, and there is a share button in the middle and other than that. It looks incredibly similar. It does. But just fine with me. Honestly I. DON'T I. Don't mind that. I'm happy to dual shock is getting a makeover. 'cause that controllers always made my hands cramp after too long. The xbox controller I have no issues with. It's actually why it's my preferred to play on I the controller so much more comfortable. Yeah. My hand in twenty in two, thousand and ten, and prior to that, I really liked the playstation controller because smaller small hands. But since my like my hands kind of changed I find the xbox like much more comfortable like. There's something about it just works better for me now. Yeah. I. Think this Controller Looks Great. I love the white. Hat is something I might have to get used to. But I know it's something that I think a lot of gamers particularly more sports focus players want those those little side pieces between the deep had to do specific move sets on. It is weird that there's so many of them out in the wild, and like that one person posted that they bought one on offer up for thirty five dollars. That was a great deal I was like that's a steal for any controller. Let alone controller for an unreleased. Be. Somebody who didn't know what they had just like it's an exodus because it's a hot troll. I. Stole this new to offload it quickly. Pretty much. I, would I feel like that is when you know it's stolen merchandise selling it for thirty dollars and some weird website just like sure I'll take that and they just think it's probably the. Current, xbox controller because they look so similar. Wonders. Like. Are you buying Oregano here? You know it was. Like take an xbox controller. Crack Open, do some modifications externally. So to try to cheat a unreleased controller. Or is this is putting a button. Sensitive. briquetted thing they. They did some modifications to like and make up that story I don't know. La Interesting for people who aren't familiar with what offer up is essentially like a, let's go or a craigslist where you post pictures and then people in your vicinity can buy items from you and I've seen some very suspicious television posts on there before like come to my garage where I have all of these TV's in boxes that you can buy. One hundred dollars and I'm like. A feels like you took that off with trucks. I. Didn't take anything. But I think that this is, oh, sorry, go ahead. Bro. Say the back of the box. There are also photos of that. If anyone's interested, the deep has just described as refined. Yet familiar input nothing really there and the share button and share content seamlessly, and then it goes on about how there's. And Bluetooth support and the textured grip, and that's kind of it.

Direct Connections With Jonny Mopar

"Did we talk about your road runner on the first episode, we did together of the show I. Don't want why don't you tell us the story? Yes. Aside from chargers and burnt up Khuda. Johnny and a whole host of other MO- pars. Johnny has also had a really awesome dude. You're roadrunners bad, ass. Tell us about your road. I remember seeing the pictures of it for the first time and I'm like. Hey, you have too many cool cars that I want. So. Tell us about that. Awesome roadrunner. This is the ratty one right the blue. Absolutely that okay. Man That card if I could find that exact car right now, I'd be a very happy man but. Tell us tell us the whole story about the road. All right. So Up in the high desert, which is I think it's like Apple Valley area out here. Not You know not that you would know where this is but anyway, it's it's it's a little bit of a stretch to get there from where I lived but I think it was in the recycler craigslist or something? I'm not even sure craigslist was around back then but I found this seventy roadrunner right And it was pretty sketchy description and stuff and I call the guy and he's like ads. Pretty. Roach Dow. But it does run. It's a three car I'm like all right has tiktok tack in it unlike. Allen go check this thing out so I was just dating my wife back. Then you know so I I I cook stir into going for a drive. You know a road trip up to go check out this car. And get there and it's like this. Lavender primer color in somebody rattled canned stripe on the hood. Had the Bulge Hood. And but Iran. And I was like, Oh, by had, we'll flares in the back which I didn't And I think I think I paid. I want to say was like Fifteen hundred bucks to two thousand dollars somewhere in there. Drug at home. And then I didn't like the color. So I black primaried the whole thing and then I drove it around a little bit but I didn't have it long and then I was starting to chip out the crap and you know the flares and the wheel wells the hated it, and then it's like, oh. God. Why did I opened this up just nasty like they just they just got in there with like sheet metal cutters and just like peeled the medal up and then just mud it you know. Was Nasty and then the right rear corner that car. It had been hit and then so somebody cut a clip off of another car I'm thinking a four door. And like grafted it into the car, they did a terrible job of doing it. So I I was just like this way too much for me. I'm I'm not gonNA take on the project like this so I think it was probably the recycler. Anyway this guy from same area Apple Valley calls me up. He's a tow truck driver and he's like a he was yeah a I I know that car seen that car up here stopped trying to buy that car that guy wouldn't sell it for years and years, and he's like, how did you get a hold of it and I'm like it was in the recycler He's I can't believe I. missed it. You know. So anyways, he goes. Well, he didn't have eating the money, but he's like, would you be interested in a trade and I'm like I don't know like what do you got? You know he's listing off the one hundreds and you know some bodies like Darts and Whatever Who wants a dart when he can get chargers all the time for not? Exactly. Exactly. So unlike No not interested. He goes well, I got a I got a sixty nine road runner and I go. He goes with doesn't have drive train in it, but you know it's five blue and. I go. Sounds interesting. I'd be interested in that and he goes I. Go dude this car is rough. The seventy is rough 'cause. I've really like seventy seventies on my favorite. Described everything wrong with the car. I think it had three fifty five's in it but anyway, he's like well, can you come up and can I check out the car because I was really Skeptical that he would be interested in trading for it. Right so I, I, drive a met him. I went like three quarters of the way up there, and then he met me because he was working he was actually he showed up in a tow truck. We met like right off the freeway. You know he's checking out the car and he's like I want I'm interested and I'm like all right cool and he goes well. Come back up on the weekend and all I had was like a really sketchy picture. Of the Blue Road runner, the sixty nine.

EBay Nears Deal to Sell Classified-Ad Unit to Adevinta

"Nearing a deal to sell its classified ad unit to Advanta, Advanta, Advanta, let's go ahead and enter. Whatever and Mike, they're valuing this $8 billion. I didn't even know this was a thing. It's the international Craigslist had never heard of their classified ads unit. Neither had I, frankly. So beyond other Sir, the investors and eBay have over the last several years kind of pushed eBay toe strip themselves and a lot of their other business units, which for those shareholders need bay. That's been a good thing. If you if you won't pay pal, for instance, that stock has done incredibly well. They struck a deal to sell off their StubHub ticketing division last year, and this is really the last big one that they had that wasn't really core to eBay's business. This classified ads, you know, think again. Think of it, as like a Craigslist or Facebook marketplace for a lot of non U. S markets. Wish again if you're competing with Facebook marketplace, I'm not really sure how you make money. EBay's classified ads unit, but that's not here, nor there, I guess.
