Could Gay Actor Rege-Jean Page Be the Next James Bond?

"So one week after the little Cuban actress Ana de Armas says she doesn't want to see James Bond and be anything but straight and be played by a straight man. Here comes the writing directing team of the Russo brothers, right? Frank and Joey Russo, they've got a different bent on this topic. They would love to see the guy from Bridgerton, Regé-Jean Page played 007. They don't care who these gay at all. In fact, they love it. Apparently his good looks and his charm have convinced them that he'd be the perfect person to replace Daniel Craig. They did an interview on some, I don't know, radio times dot com. And they mention now they can see the actor as the next James Bond. They said, he's fantastic. I mean, he has more charisma in his pinky than most people doing their entire body. So we watch him do anything. I mean, we'd watch him read the phonebook, I had to check to see if they're both gay. Who talks this way. I don't get it. I really don't get it. But then again, I tried to watch Bridgerton, I couldn't leave the TV fast enough. I don't like TV shows or movies with a woman, the women are wearing so much material on their body that you spend more time unbuttoning and untying her dress than you do having sex with her. It's too puritanical those shows. I can't get into them.

"craig " Discussed on The Garden Question

"What is your most valuable garden mistake? Oh gosh. What a great question. And just so people know, what are the great things about the way that Craig is interviewing me in this podcast is I really don't know what he's going to ask and I have the most fun when I'm put in the spot and have to be spontaneous. Two things I'm going to say spacing and adequate watering. Spacing wise as an heirloom enthusiast my goal was always to squeeze as much into the garden as I could. What I created was a turnpike for tomato disease. You get foliage pressing against each other when you've got plant shading plants. The sun is just a wonderful disinfectant. And when you're blocking the ability of the sun to do its job, you can actually harvest as many tomatoes out of 50 plants well spaced and well cared for, then you can of 200 plants that are all crammed in together issues just to rise. So adequate spacing, the other is learning that you can underwater plants that are grown in containers or straw bales. I know that on the Internet, there are a lot of people that are saying to get the best flavor out of your tomatoes you need to starve them a little bit. You need to hold back water a little bit and concentrate those flavors. In the ground, where roots can reach down and find water. That's one situation. But we're talking about if a plant is in a container or a straw bale and the roots are filling that area and when all the water is expended out of that area, that's that. What you'd end up with is just a wonderful crop of blossom tomatoes because what happens is when a plant stresses out and typically with tomatoes when they're starting to set fruit and they're starting to get tall, it's those hot summer days and there's not enough water for the plant to avoid stress and that stress interrupts the ability of the plant to take up the calcium that invariably is in the soil. And what you end up with is a crop of tomatoes with brown or black ends on them that are fine for seed saving, but they certainly aren't particularly appetizing..

It's an environment. Do you have a learning ecosystem that facilitates your wisest people. Schering those that wisdom are you at creating an environment where wise people hold onto the wisdom. Because they're afraid because if you don't have that environment we and our organizations are going to get stuck pretty fast however there is another component here and that is the human desire for denial too often alita will find themselves stuck and a too hot headed to admit that that is what they are and so they remain stuck for a very long time. "Who asks and i can't and greg mcewen's if it's not a nine it's a zero is really good and i was saying yes. To a lot of sevens and eights. It's not hard to say no to a two out of ten but when it's when it's an eight out of ten or seven out of ten that's really kind of gray. It's not a nine. It's zero and of course the people who always pay the price of your over-committment are the people you care about. The most. my wife pays the biggest price. My kids pay the biggest price my friends do and ultimately so do i and so. That's that's how. I kind of scold myself as i was writing the book. It's like unique. If is not a nine is zero So many leaders. I think would say you know. Can you do something the and then they asked. What can i rather than should i. And that's that's a good way looking at well. Let's have a little bit of fun And i'm gonna ask you just a bunch of questions rattled off and you can respond as quickly or even as silly as you want to but What's your biggest pet peeve. Lightning round question one pet leaders who tell me how busy their leaders who says peeves make bad pets but i thought that was really funny. That's the answer is not more time. But more of what matters most best Band or music artists from the nineteen eighty s. In your opinion is. This is a hard one. Those are my college years. I'm gonna say new order for two hundred fifty dollars. I can't even tell you a single new order song. But i'm glad you like them. You take you into metal. I gotta ask you. What's your no no. I was kind of I was probably drunk most of the eighties. Kind of a blur into outfield eagles. And we're in stuff like that okay. Yeah biggest Biggest personal leadership insecurity. That you still face today That's a hard one. I'm being really vulnerable here. I think still feeling like i don't belong still feel like you don't belong so back to speak to a lot of people right now even when you are doing a lot you were you still face leadership insecurities we do Is there a discipline. That you've adopted Recently that's making a big difference in your life. I am deeply inspired by your fitness routine. And while i'm not lifting as much as i should be or an all have extended. My ride's just a little bit longer so i'll bike bike. Twenty five hundred kilometers last year. That's about like seventeen hundred miles. So what i've done is i've just added because my friends do epic rides. I just added five k. To the average riding it adds up over time would add up over time. Do you have a favorite interview that you've done over all the years on the carry neuhof lucia podcast other than craig rachelle time. Perfect answer excluding. It's exciting can..

"They're out there crushing it. And if you're saying hey craig lunch. i'd love just to catch up with you know agenda. I just want to build in to you and spend some time. You leave feeling energized daily feeling energized. And they they lean a little bit harder because they love the time they get with you. So that's one way to reallocate your time and keep your priorities from being hijacked. This is so so so good. And i think that section in the book is worth Cover price in ten over ten times. It's just it's so helpful and i think Just kind of be clear in the early years of whatever you're doing you're going to have to say yes a lot like if people are asking. Can you help. would you whatever your your answer. Better be hungry to learn but the longer you leave the more influence you have if you continue saying yes to everything for the outside then. You're you're never going to be able to say yes to the most important priorities and i would say the the more you want to do. The more your default almost has to be a no and that's not unloving that strategic in the way i'm gonna love the most people by saying no to the things that would take me away from doing what serves the most people and and so no almost becomes a default. It knows a complete sentence a lot of times people say you have to give a long y you know a firm no is a lot better than wishy washy. No it's just a no. That doesn't work. I'm sorry if you want to do a lot. You want to initiate almost everything that goes on to your schedule. Not respond to it. Because if you're always responding not initiating then you're going to be following other people's agenda and not creating the environment or the culture or the product or the ministry that that is Is inside of you. So i super grateful for i've learned from you over the years. I want to ask you one more big question about the book. And then i'm gonna get into a little lightning round for fun with you but you've written several books in every time you write a book i know is most people wouldn't know. This is often borne out a personal struggles. And then you kind of have some aha moments along the way or even after the book go. Oh now see. I wish i'd put that in there in your book at your best what was your biggest takeaway that you got out of it that you learned either riding it or afterwards where you said. I am different as a leader today. Because of something i learned something i wrote or something. I discovered along the way in the writing process. Because i had done time and energy management for so many years Coda fine what was in there. I think my biggest surprise was the priority section in your right as your audience grows as your influence grows. Is your responsibility grows. The inbound just gets almost unmanageable. Like it's never would've guessed. It was the priority section. And i'm paraphrasing greg. Mcewen here who wrote a great book. Years ago called the centralism. Another must read. Been heavily influenced by what greg has to say and he. He was a big influence in my life. And he says kerry when you're looking at requests if it's not a nine zero and even now because what's happening to me with the rapid growth of the platform podcast and everything. Like that is what was a good decision. Last year isn't a good decision this year so it seemed like a really good decision making those decisions in advance. When i was writing the priority section. I was really like taking notes for myself and i'm going back to my team saying hold me accountable to this because i want to say yes to everything like i really kinda do. That is my default. I would love to help everybody..

We need to be in the content of whatever the continent for us in their times. We need to be above it working on it. And i think you do that. Well i want to ask you about this. Kerry preachers will say things. Like god has a wonderful plan for your life. I always joke around and say other people have a wonderful plan for your life and they want your time. All the time is especially as your business grows your podcasts. Your implant grows whatever. How do you manage the volume of outside initiatives coming to you would you speak. Would you write. Would you be on my podcast which you come here. Would you do this fundraiser. Every leader has their version of that. How do you handle all the incoming asks. What do you do with those. Yeah well there's a system for it. And i just want to say to those who are not in a church context and there's a lot of you. I was in law before and this is true. "But the reality is we're all human beings like your energy waxes and wanes over the course of the day and if you were starting your sermon at three o'clock in the afternoon my guess is it's not going to be the message that you would get at seven. Am in the morning if you were starting is fair hundred percent and that means you're part of the human race like all of us are and for me at seven to eleven is my green zone. Yours is six to nine. I drag my knuckles from four to six every afternoon. I've got a meeting today at four. It's a busy season some doing a meeting at four and i'm like i hope i can stay awake. I hope i can stay focused and we all have that. So that's your red zone. I call the red zone. You're really not at your best and everything else is yellow. It's in the middle. You're not at your best. You're not at your worst. And i ignored energy management for years for the last fifteen years and this is where the real productivity has soared is. I have tried to figure out. What am i best at and as a young leader. I thought it was great at everything. Now that i'm older and maybe a tiny bit wiser. I realize i'm actually good at very few things and content creation is one of them that i seem to have been gifted at holding. Great conversations hopefully is something that i'm relatively gifted at and what i try to do. Is i do what. I'm best at when i'm at my best and the way to ask that question in your own life. What are you best at. And also what moves the needle like what what when you do it. Well when is life church at its best. When is it at its best. My guess is content creation. You go in there with a dud opening talk at the s. It's it's a struggle so you've got to invest time in that and so ask yourself and you're an account if you're an accounting like is it a really excellent where you've actually sorted through everything. Is it a whole new analysis a report. You need to develop and what happens to most of us craig is. We don't think about energy management. We let priorities hijacker day other people's priorities hijacker day. So three o'clock in the afternoon we sit down to do our most important work. We do a bad job. We don't get it done then. It creeps into family time. Then your day.

I might you know might consider it the second time it comes across my desk. In most of the time most of these leaders there defaults going to be no because of all that comes along. And so what stands out to me would be someone who adds value i and and everyone wants to be liked the most Whoever you admire respect the most they're still human being and they won't be like they want to be valued and so e- oddly enough one of the ways that you communicate values just by asking questions and listening. And then i listened that i take notes and then i go do something with what i just said is your time was valuable but valuable to me and then you feel good about it And and so. I think you go in with more of a heart to give than to get respecting their time. If you can add value to their life the it's it's The not only will they say yes sometimes but there might be the beginning of a friendship if you come in with the right approach because sometimes they are lonely in what friends become too hard. It's like run up on a bird. Birds gonna fly real fast. I remember as i got to know you. I was trying to follow those principles and we had some personal contact beyond the etcetera. Some phone calls. And you're definitely not lonely and have lots of friends and lots of things going on your life. But i still remember. I was sitting on the back porch and you carry. It's okay we're friends now and that was really interesting. So i haven't lost the respect. I still have so much immense respect for you but you don't want to. I would say my last piece of advice as just because you met with someone once or twice. Don't expect to be doing vacations with them next year. Like really tried to be astute about where the relationship is at. Because maybe you know. I i would say we have a real friendship now craig and yet. I wouldn't want to assume we did. And you're like i was just trying to help carry out like you know. I don't know why he keeps texting me. And and why won't leave me alone. I don't know. Does that resonate a little bit like just just does i think i think you're You're not going to overstep your balance. And and again i always. I always try to ask very little and offer a lot. Whatever i can to add benefit. I wanna talk to you. You mentioned earlier that earlier on you you burned out and in you've said before and you talk about in your book at your best that that burn out is an epidemic and it's interesting as we look around today. I see more leaders. Hurting limping struggling. Battling insecurity fear. Burn out. i think than i have in my whole kind of leadership experience..

"And i'm interested in how you now the gate those relationships and let me let me tell you why. I think there are a lot of people listening right now. That how some people that they'd like to be around some leaders that they like to learn from but they often don't know how to interact at a way that communicates respect to some of those leaders. If you're looking at the list of people that endorsed your book you probably have a little bit of a different strategy of investing in them as friends then what people might think. And i'd love for you to talk about that for a moment and i am hoping that our listeners could get something from it. That was say there may be a boss at my work admire. And i'm a may approach her in a different way. Because of what kerry said how do you steward those relationships with people that are busier than most have more pressure than most. What's different about those relationships. So let me preface it by saying. I didn't start out with colleagues or people who had endorsed my book at that level. I remember as a very young leader and you have a ton of young leaders listening like as a thirty year old just starting out. I was very interested in growth and leadership development. And i couldn't get craig. Rachelle was following you all those years ago on the phone but i could get the in my case. I was a church leader at the time. The pastor down the road to go have lunch with me on a tuesday so i was leading fifty people. He was leading two hundred and doug would have lunch with me so i started with dog and it wasn't a ladder climb. It wasn't like now. I've used doug and i'm going to get to the next person but eventually we had a good track record. We grew for many years. I lead the church for over two decades and it just got me noticed and so i began to meet other people who introduced me to other people..

"Mandatory vaccination for business owners with your move this week. By the fda you saw the Torrens of companies making it mandatory. And it's going to be controversial but you know what's happened in our situation what we're telling people even though we've achieved almost ninety five percent vaccination double back now is that if you're not gonna get you can't come and work in the office and many people don't even want to come back anyway and so they don't care I think it's a little irresponsible not to get back with this new delta situation. The economy's booming. And you know it's it's a good thing. And i think we're in a good place if if we can get responsible. The tastes are coming from the unvaccinated. "Great leadership isn't just about leading others. Great leadership starts with self leadership. Why because your potential to lead others is a direct result of how you lead yourself. Let me say it again. Your potential to lead others as always a direct result of how you lead yourself now. Why does self leadership matter so much. Let's talk about it if you're my leader. I'm not just listening to what you say. But i'm watching. How you live and lead. You know this because you do this with the people that lead you so if you're my leader and you live with discipline intention outy integrity and purpose. What happens my respect for you grows my trust for you. Deepens and my willingness to follow you grows exponentially but the opposite is true as well when you live without discipline without intention analogy without integrity and without purpose my respect for you diminishes my trust for you weakens and i honestly don't wanna follow someone. I don't trust or respect. You know this is true. You've worked for all different types of leaders and you will work for a paycheck but you'll give your heart to emission you love and a leader you respect so when you lead others. Remember there watching you closely because your potential to lead others is a direct result of how you lead yourself.
