"One call that's all Sports desk. Here's Brian Deed. Daniel Vogel back impacts the Brewers 10. Nothing went over the Phillies in a very strange way. Marshawn sitting right down the middle. He walking with the bases loaded, so the strikeout and wild pitch to Riz with two outs. That's how it all started. Craig Counsell with a little bit of gamesmanship here, Wtmj Esmat Pauli explains. With two on and Lorenzo Cain at the plate in the sixth inning, Vogel back comes into the on deck circle, and the crowd gets excited. It Turns out, he's a decoy. Cain walks and starting pitcher Eric Lower hits for himself because he's tossing a shut out. It was a little weird walking out there and getting booed. Because Mogi was supposed to hit. That was a little odd for me, but I took it with a grain of salt. He didn't hit a grand slam but lower does draw a bases loaded walk to drive in Iran at American family Field. But I've been starting out for 14 years, so nobody knows the product like I do on the field. And that gives me a perspective that I feel like ads that dominates, but adds to a conversation when you're talking about players for decisions that directly impact the product on the field, and that was my thing the entire time. I believe for the majority off season. There is an unwillingness to, uh to budge or to have those conversations. But you never know. "What a call from you fair. Vogel Bach delivering the moment of the season to win this series against the Cardinals. More on that coming up an extra points this morning at 7 45. Unfortunately, the Brewers could not carry the momentum of Monday's When or Sundays went into Monday's loss against the Phillies. They hit six home runs in yesterday's game. The pitch to Harper Yeah, I mean, you know, it's great major league hitter and he it was down the middle fastball, so it fell behind the counter A couple couple instances, um, gotten some bad counts, so, but they did a nice job against his his fastball, so give him credit. It's manager Craig Counsell more with the skipper on his team's eventful long weekend coming Up in Brewer's 3 60 this morning at 8 15 in football. The game start for real. On Sunday. It's officially game week for the Green Bay Packers head coach Matt the floor feels like his team is healthy and ready to roll for week. One. Yes, they were fairly healthy. You know, for the most part, most guys are available, and that's what that's what we wanted to do was is making sure that the guys that needed the work out there and in the preseason they got the work. Um somewhere veteran guys, we chose not to play them so that they were hopefully 100% per week one. What about Za'darius Smith, who has been dealing with a peculiar back injury. We're hopeful. Um, we'll see if he can get out there and do some individual today. So, um Yeah, We're hopeful. We're going to talk more about that momentarily. That injury remains a huge question. Mark. The Packers visit the Saints in Jacksonville Sunday Kick off set for 3 25 coverage here on WTMJ starts noon with opening drive. And finally in college football, Not the start to the season. The Badgers wanted three turnovers from quarterback grand merged in the Red Zone lead to a 16 10 loss to Penn State just in general and the types of mistakes that they were, you know you're talking about I know Graham and says, Ana, you know, quarterback running back exchange, you know, And then, um, you know, kind of the ball comes spurting out on the On the goal line, You know? So you tell me about those are things that Yeah, I was the first game last game. You think that you can You should be better than that. That is head coach Paul Chris. The Badgers host eastern Michigan this weekend before a big time showdown against ninth ranked Notre Dame in Chicago later this month. Jean Luc Enter onto Za'darius Smith. He kind of, you know, curiously showed up with a back injury. Maybe like a week into training camp. That kind of came out of nowhere and wasn't said to be anything too serious, but He hasn't played since. And it's prompting questions about whether this is actually an injury or whether he's holding out for a new contract and the Packers and you kind of heard in Las Flores voice there. They've been very cagey about this whole thing over the last couple of weeks, so it'll be fascinating to see what his involvement is when the Packers get back on the practice field today, and as they continue to prepare for this week, one opener to see if he's going to play because if this holdouts and if it is a holdout If it bleeds into the regular season. That's a big, serious deal for the Packers top pass rusher to be missing time if he's holding out for a new deal, something to monitor this week, 5 48 at WTMJ. He calls the dagger on game.

"Center and deep and this is big trouble and gone Former cotton Wow. Well, nothing. Brewers come up short, They lose to the It was to the Phillies today. Welcome back in its Brewers extra innings here on WTMJ. I'm Matt Paulie. That's correct. Sean from Valley Sports, Wisconsin 85561616 20 the academic or gauge talking tax line. You can tweet at me at Matt Paulie on Air Field pigeon. One of our favorites, tweeting in In your opinion, What do the Brewers do once they clinch attempt to get hot, stay hot, going to the playoffs, arrest key players and hope they're all fresh and healthy for the postseason. Yes, Yes, You do all that. You you, You try to rest guys, but you try to keep guys sharp at the same time, and it is going to be a balancing act That is going to be incredibly challenging for Craig Counsell. And you know they play the Dodgers the last three games of the year and At this rate, you certainly would expect that would be one of more meaningless series for Milwaukee just to end the regular season for the Dodgers. The way things are going out the West. It's probably going to be very meaningful. Um, but you also have to be careful of matching up against that same team, potentially a few days later or week later. So what do you do, You know, do you show your hand? You haven't seen the Dodgers since earlier this season. Here in Milwaukee. There's a lot of things I think math that we're not going to be used to sing and how they played out. Regular seasons the last three years that they have made the playoffs because it has gone down to the final day, for the most part, Um, but this is going to be different all the way around. But health protect your players, uh, and get things set up for the postseason, but at the same time, it's not like you want your starters not throwing for the final two weeks. You do want them to Feel like they've got some momentum going into the postseason. That's part of this, too, and you're going to have when the regular season ends on that Sunday. I think it's October 3rd. You're going to have Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday off before you player First National League divisional game on Friday. You could so there's four days right there. You're not playing so unlike this is kind of fun to think about it that that series really means nothing. Than perhaps a would drift A burns or Peralta don't start, but maybe coming out of the bullpen. Maybe they don't appear at all. Maybe they throw aside session just so because then you're talking about over a week without them pitching if they don't appear in that series at all, it's uh Yeah, There's gonna be some decisions to be made C C you know you planned for 162 game season. You're you're obviously you're goes to get in the playoffs. This team knew they were good enough to be a playoff contender before it all began. But, boy, I tell you the way it's played out. I don't think they thought they were going to be this good. Have an 11 game lead, you know, without 23 games to go, they protect their 11 game lead today because Cincinnati already lost I mean, this is this is such different territory as far as creating a blueprint I think for the postseason magic numbers 13 lucky number 13 After the It's amazing text from 2 to 6 to do you see both rowdy and vocal back making the playoff roster. How many guys need to be dropped for October? You go back to 26 for the postseason. I do think they're both on the roster. I think Vogel back brings so much as a pinch hitter off the bench. You also can get a little bit creative with like pitching, especially for the divisional series, because you're not gonna need all your starters. So, uh, for sure. I I don't see a scenario where each of those guys are off the roster. I don't either. I think you're right. I think the bottom line is you're have to juggle the pitching staff more than anything right now. And and you want some weapons coming off the bench in in key spots, lefties righties that you might even see in pinch hitting for more often than not. So it's still about versatility. You can say Well, neither. These guys can play anywhere else. But you know what they sure can hit and they complain the playing the batter's box, and that's all that matters right now. You know what sometimes one important at that. Is more is more meaningful than three or four. Not so important. You know, we used to make this. I used to make this argument all the time with Josh hater when especially in hater was a multi inning guy when we would go see hater 3rd 223 innings And people were still calling for him to be a starter. At that point, That was the conversation. We have a lot of on the show. Yeah, and I always said Starters, invariably They throw a lot of endings that simply don't matter. They throw meaningless innings game after game after game. That's that's the role of a starting pitcher. When Josh Shader was throwing multiple innings you were guaranteeing that that electric arm was always throwing innings that mattered, and that was always my reason that I didn't want to see them move him to a starter. So let's kind of use that same principle with this. It's really tough to be a pinch hitter who can be successful off the bench. I don't know if there's anything tougher in baseball than being the guy who's going to get one at bat per game and being able to find success with it. If you're going to carry Daniel vocal back as that guy, and I think he's already proven that he's got the makeup to be someone who can be successful as a pinch hitter. In many ways that can be more impactful than the guy who is starting every day because you don't have any control over where they are going to come up and you're you're talking about a guy that's patient at the plate takes a lot of pitches has a good eye. You can say the same thing about James Peterson. You can say the same thing of Tyrone Taylor gets healthy enough and it looks like he's going to, um, you're you're going to need guys like that. That, um those particular guys understand their role, right? That's the one thing that I always say, and you've heard me say it a million times. If you're not starting, you have to understand what your role is. And if you don't embrace it That the fact that you're not a starter, and you do have something specific to take care of and be ready for if you don't embrace that you're not going to be successful at it. And this organization has done a really good job at finding those guys that embrace it. And You couldn't have heard a better example than what Vogel back, said after the game yesterday. I know I lost my job at first base. When I was injured. They asked me to come back. I was ready to come back. I forced my way back, and I understand what my role is with this team right now, and that's to pinch it and I will be ready and boom. Hits a Grand slam Erin in Illinois. May have seemed like a rough weekend for the crew. However, they start the long weekend 29 over and finished 29 over with four fewer games. Now, 500 ball the rest away finishes at 95 wins. I'll take that. Also, it seems like Hauser has established himself to be the fourth starting pitcher. In the postseason. I've actually started to come around on something, Craig because we've talked about, um, the starting pitching potentially in the postseason, and how maybe you reduced back down to like, really being focused on those three guys as we've seen the struggles a little bit not big struggles, but just signs of struggle from a Peralta from a would drift. I'm coming around to say You know what? This You've got to keep the extended rest for these guys, even in even in the post season to make sure that their best I think it's a four man rotation in the post season. Do you think it's more of four man in the in the opening round, then League championship? No, I actually think it's more the League Championship of the World Series because in that open but depends on how many games to five. It's best if I with a couple of days in there, so there's a lot more flexibility. But once all of a sudden the best of seven with the same amount essentially off days as the divisional series then I think you just go straight for. Yeah, that's I mean, it's It's certainly something to talk about. And I really don't know where the Brewers stand on this because it will never say publicly at this point..

You're able to come back from that. But you go down to Oh, you won your first game at home. All of a sudden you're one game away from potentially being tied one of the big questions. I think our ball movement can be a little bit better, you know, getting to second actions and multiple actions in place and moving people, So it's something that's good. You know, you play against a good defensive team. I think we need a little bit of that. The game is scheduled to tip off at seven o'clock tonight. We will have the broadcast four years. Here on WTMJ. Interesting night, an American family field. Brewers lose to the Reds by a 43 score. Craig Counsell gets ejected from the game. Christian Yelich gets ejected after a call was made at first base where, after running through the base on a single, they say he made a move to second where he really didn't make much of a move at all. He got very upset ends up getting ejected, Manager Craig Counsell said. There's no reason for an umpire to make that call. That's just a clear case of an umpire kind of making something up or thinking. He sees something that has no influence on the game and then making a call. It's a similar call to what we saw earlier this year on our interference call. It's the same call to me. There's nothing there and the umpire. Decides to make a call and get involved, and there's when there wasn't any reason to be involved. 33 in the ninth, A Urania Suarez hits a home run off Josh Hater. That's the difference in the contest. Freddie Peralta get to start with five innings, allowing three runs on two hits. He found out prior to the game that he had been added to the All Star roster. "Law Officers. One call that's all sports desk. Here's Brian D. Bring on the Atlanta Hawks for the second time in three years. The Milwaukee Bucks back in the Eastern Conference finals that after taking out Kevin Durant and the Nets in overtime Saturday night in Game seven Box all of a sudden have home court advantage Game one of the Eastern Conference finals going to take place here in Milwaukee Wednesday night at 7 30 in baseball. The Brewers leaving Denver with a series split after squandering a six run lead. On Sunday, The crew comes back to earn a 76 win. They continue their road trip tonight against the Arizona Diamondbacks steps on the bag. And the ball game is over. The Brewers go to Denver and split the four game series with the Rockies. Thanks to a 76 victory here this afternoon Brewers 3 60 sponsored by Imperial Service Systems and New Male Medical Center, We are joined live amateurs. 3 60 by longtime journal Sentinel Brewers Beat writer Tom Harder Court. Good Morning, Tom. Good morning. So some lessons to be learned from this just transpired, Rocky Series. First of all, no lead is safe. Carbon burns is mortal. And this this team isn't done until the last out, is in the scorebook. If I pretty much something to that Yeah, Nice talking to you See you next week. But let's go to the first part. No leader is ever safe at Coors Field. So zany is part of the DNA when you play the Rockies there, But this carbon birds businesses a little unsettling is the league figuring him out or as he lost the stroke? Well, let's see what happens out. Of course, Field, you know, I mean, do any pictures ever pits? Well, of course field. I was thinking what it must be like to cover them on a regular basis. The Rockies he mentioned how many leads have to be rewritten in the ninth inning there. I mean, not to make it about me. But you know, there is a me in media and so on. You got to write that first draft in pencil because you never know what's gonna happen. Yeah, I know. I mean, no kidding. I mean, has a fit. Run lead every evaporated faster. It went in a span of seven hitters, the minimum required by laws. Six. This course that drones. So, um I mean, that leads it was like it was like that was two different games. But I'll give the bird's credit because quite often, especially on the road, when other things baton last When you blow a big lead, it just goes away completely and you're losing your dismissal. You know, it turned out to be a footnote. They left in a good mood because they want But that would not have been a good move day. If you lose now, and your point is well taken about Colorado, Tom, the Brewers organization couldn't wait to get their their farm system out of that state. It was just held you to try and develop pictures. It's a tough place to play for sure, And they say the Rockies have trouble developing their pictures or getting any pictures. You know, on the market to come there who wants to come there and watch pop ups go out of those four home runs than any Two would have been out anywhere but to or look like just lazy fly balls off the band, and they just keeps going and going and also drops over the fence. And so that's definitely a maddening place to play. All right, Tom. Let's get the heck out of Colorado and move on to Arizona, where the Diamondbacks are just atrocious. Can you shed some light on just how bad they've been this year? Yes, they think. Okay. Thank you very much. I mean, I mean, epic losing. Remember how upset Brewer fans or because they had lost five in a row. Um through the first Dig into Colorado. There was 17 in a row and 31 of 33. Basically for a month. They've only lost The direct the Brewers are, you know, wanted them so badly to win a game over the weekend because you don't want to be playing a team. That's this do to win. I mean that you talk about being due to win. But it but it's amazing what's going on there. So it'll be interesting to see how that goes, You know, And it's also like 125 degrees there. Yeah, we'll keep the roof shot at Chase Field. I think this weekend it will be beneficial for everybody. How do you think the Brewers approach that going in? You have to obviously be cognizant of The fact that you're playing such a wounded team. How do you approach that is Craig Counsell, the baseball team knowing you're going up for a couple of games against the worst team in baseball, right? Will you write a sympathy card? But you don't give it until Wednesday light of the morning because if they beat you tear it up and throw it away, Uh, There's only one way to approach it The way you're supposed to play any season one game at a time, because let's face it if their picture I believe tonight, Meryl Kelly. If he pictures a great game, they could beat you three have one. You know the Brewers, you know they're challenged offensively. I think we mentioned that from time to time. Um so they're vulnerable to any great pitching performance on the other side, and then in the picture. There's a saying in baseball momentum stops and starts in baseball 60 FT six inches from the plate, And that's because it's all about the picture. What is their picture pictures? Good. It'll be a close to him if he doesn't want, but it makes you nervous to play a team that's losing this much. It makes you nervous. These guys are superstitious. That is for sure. "Office. See one call that's all sports desk. Here's Greg Matte sick. Well. He was doubtful yesterday that he was out yesterday. That turned a doubtful that's turned hopeful. Not exactly a official designation on the NBA NBA injury report, but it does accurately described the situation regarding that's all Star guard James Harden. The athletic reports that Harden will test his injured hamstring and warm ups tonight. If there is no set back, he will suit up and play against the Bucks in Game five of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Boxing coach Mike Budenholzer would love to see the box often find its way after being held roughly 25 points below its regular season average so far, the series That is a soundtrack behind Mike Putin Holders soundtrack, But coverage of tonight's game begins at seven o'clock on Wtmj should be an entertaining game from Barclays Center. The home game next for the Bucks will be on Thursday night. Meanwhile, Brewers manager Craig Counsell shares his thoughts on what this game means. Yeah, I mean, you get to this stage and you know they're all big for sure. So more than anything, it's just do your job that day. There's still more to be done after this game. Think everybody always realized that is that this is one day you got to stick to one day. That's probably the most important thing is getting ahead of yourself in these situations is probably the worst thing you could do. Councils Brewers host the Reds tonight in Game two of the three game series. Here. The game on 94 5 ESPN, beginning at 6 35. And we just talked about Aaron Rodgers. John not surprising. He was not a participant today and the Packers voluntary organized team activity. Neither were most of the starters about 99% of them as a matter of fact. Not a surprise. Erin Jones was the lone starter. Among the 55 participants signed the big contract is ready to work, That's for sure. They'll wrap up things on Thursday and then about a six week break until training camp. Hard to be a factor tonight. You can run them around, right? I think you've got to test him. You've got to run them off screens. You've got to make sure he is moving, um, effective, possibly 100% not a chance. It's going to be interesting. I'm ready for tip off. "Dugout or, more accurately the bullpen today Hunter Strickland if you missed it from over the weekend, the Brewers acquired Strickland from the Angels in exchange for cash considerations. So the Brewers will be Strickland's third team of the year He started with the Rays went to the Angels and struggled. His best years came several years ago. He was a steady hand of the Giants bullpen more from like the 2014 to 2018 era. But here he is in Milwaukee's bullpen, and this is available. A spot is available on the 40 Man roster because of the injury to Travis Shaw, who was moved to the 60 Day injured list. So welcome to the Milwaukee Brewers. Hunter Strickland. But you see him in a game tonight. I'll tell you who you're not going to see. That's Josh hater. He's pitched in three straight games each of the games against Pittsburgh so not likely That hater will be available tonight for Craig Counsell in this series against threats, all right, It's a very important day. Greg Hill producing the program. Do you know what day today is? Today is flag day. That is right. Well done. You are a patriot. You are a fine American Greg Hill. Do you know why Flight day is such an important day in the baseball calendar? Why is that you don't you don't even want to take a guess I'll take a guess It's probably your line that baseball season has quotes Began. Well, okay. Yes, I don't know if that's the correct grammar, but I think we're knocking on the door here. Close in. Many like to look at Mother's Day is a first check in on the standings. Right. There's always a day where you look at the season and say, Yeah, it's early, and then there's sort of a switch or a date where it's Yeah, it's no longer early. You kind of know who the team is. And while many look at Mother's Day I like a little more of a sample size. I like that West Coast trip. I like a little more interleague play. I like all that mixed in other brewers have, uh, mixed in games against each division in the National League. They've had a little tasting. Of interleague play, and they've had a number of games against the division as you might imagine, So I like to look at flying day as the first check in day. Now I look at the standings. Now I look at who's positioning themselves to be active or on the trade deadline. You start doing that around Mother's Day. Yeah, Too many teams involved too many teams in the mix too many good players not performing yet or too many players who have outperformed expectations and have yet to come back to Earth. Flag. Dane. Things have sort of stabilized. Can you look at the brewers and say I know who the Brewers are? They're a team with outstanding pitching with aces. I'm really three, maybe four All stars and their pitching staff. And occasional hitting that appears to be moving in the right direction. I can say that with a high degree of certainty on Flag Day Mother's Day. I'm looking at the pitching, not feeling good about the offense at all. Today, I feel better about the offense. But as I start to look at things from a trade deadline's line standpoint, there was enough of a sample size for me to look at it and say, Yeah, the Brewers could probably use a little bit of help. Corner infield makes a little bit of sense to me. Outfield still seems to be okay, assuming Lorenzo Cain comes back for the second half of the season. Pitching his donkey strong, but you can always use another armed. I certainly wouldn't be mad at the Brewers found another back end bullpen piece, The 7th 8th inning guy. That doesn't hurt. Remember. They traded away a couple of those guys about a month ago. So Flag day Greg Hill use Flag Day as your representative day for assessing where teams across the major league baseball landscape are in the standings. Who's for real? Or for Ils, as I know, you like to say. Who is not, who is a pretender. Can look at things right now and say that in the National League, the Brewers and Cubs are starting to separate from the rest of the division. The Cardinals have fallen on their face losing nine of the last 10. The Reds have caught a bit of a groove here. They won 8 to 10 only derailed momentarily by the Brewers about a week ago. The pirate Sorry rebuilding team, So there's your NL Central snapshot. I can say comfortably on flag day. Mother's Day would have been too early. In the West. Would you have thought the Giants would be the first team in the National League? 2 40 wins? Yeah, Here we go. 40 and 25. They are leading the Dodgers and Padres. Although both teams are right on their heels. They have separated very clearly from the Rockies and the lowly Diamondbacks and in the East. I know a team is going to have to win that division. I assume they'll be above 500. But right now it's not a great division. It is the bottom feeder division. If you're lining all them up in the National League, so let's look at flag day going forward, shall we? Let's assess contenders and pretenders on Flag Day, not Mother's Day. We don't have to wait to the All Star break because now is the time where you start positioning yourself or at least aligning your thoughts and dreams. When it comes to the trade deadline. You start assessing who might be a buyer and who might be a seller. Flag day, Ladies and gentlemen. Flag Day, a critical day on baseball's calendar that you did not know about coming up next. The sound you need to hear from Craig Counsell. Entering tonight's game will give you the lineup as well.

Game three of the best of seven going to be played Thursday night, A 6 30 Tip Advisor Forum. In football. Today is the day the Packers opening up mandatory minicamp in Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers not expected to be in attendance and in baseball Brewers Reds Tonight Coverage here on WTMJ starts at 5 35. No game last night, But we do have the skipper with us right now. The manager Craig Counsell, joining us live on brewers 3 60. Good morning, sir. Good morning. This is a sweet run, you guys run and I could have used some brewers last night about 7 30 or so and the books were slowly slipping away into oblivion and was looking around for something else. Sports wise to watch and all I could find her home improvement reruns could have used the Brewers game last night, but I'm sure you guys needed the day off after what's been going on of late. You've had such a great rent a success. A sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Things are going right on all levels, it seems Yeah, uh, as the 162 game season, an off day for the players as always helpful, but we had We played a good series against the Diamondbacks did a lot of good things well, and it's time Brianna the next ones of what the Cincinnati Reds who have been playing really well. They swept the Cardinals this weekend. Um, so a big test for us, and I'm ready to get started. Craig, What are the big challenges of the upcoming stretch here? I think it's 33 of the next 34 in a row heading into the All Star break with with no days off. Basically, you got one day before the All Star break. What challenges does that pose for you as a manager? Well, we're at the kind of I think the 60 game mark, So that's we're passing. You know, last season's volume right now, and, um, you know that we're going to do it in the stretch with no off days, so it's really a time when we just start to really monitor player health. We have a week at elevation for four days in Colorado in the stretch, um and three in Arizona, which is challenging players to so It's health. It means off days. Um it means really taking care of her, especially relievers in this stretch with no off days, So we just have to be careful with players here and be aware of it and make sure we're Get ahead of get ahead of with days off. Brewers manager Craig Counselor Life guest and brewers 3 60 M. Wtmj seems almost every week. We have to ask you about your maligned offense. And then I looked at the numbers this morning. The Wisconsin State Journal. We say that since the end of last month, your 2 2016 batting average drinks 10th in the National League. It's up from 29. 4 71 slugging percentage powered by a league leading 21 home runs during that same stretch, second only to the Giants in the 7 78 0. P s good for third in the league. I know those who relied on numbers. The bottom line is this offense is getting in shape. It is doing what you had hoped it was going to do Is that a factor of the warmer weather, the open roof hit and fem field or is it the spectacular coaching Yeah. Yeah, well, we have going to bath a lot better and, uh, what happened really is we had a 20 games. We've had a strange season in that we had a 20 game stretch for the bats went absolutely quiet, and we didn't score any runs. And, um And it's just It's frustrating and it's noticeable when that happens, and when we were losing, um and wasted some good pitching performances. Um, And now I think we've just corrected that probably kind of back to what we expected. And look, we still have some guys that are that are off to very slow starts and we need production problem. But we're also getting that production. You know, from a pretty big group of the rest of the offense, and that's what led to some consistency for us offensively, so You know, I really think when you add it all up, this is we didn't expect to be the top offense in the game. We expected to be very good pitching and I think we are. But we are getting back to what we thought we could be offensively and that's that looks leading us to be in a consistent team. I think How is your pitching continue to get better. It almost feels like after the first stretch where Woody and Corbyn were so hot. Freddy's now got an even better Are you expecting that to tail off at any point is it feels like as the season progresses, and these guys get more innings under their belt. They just continue to improve and feel more comfortable, Craig Yeah. I mean those rib and just outstanding since day one, um, and that they've been and Josh haters that incredible since day one, and those guys have been a big reason for success. And I think breadbox Burger in the bullpen has been a Tremendous ad for us and done a really good job, But so I don't know if they're getting better. I think they've been really consistent. And, um, and that means you know what we're going to get every time out. It's changed our dynamic of how we just Use our pitchers with those. We know these guys are going to get deep into games, and that's really changed. How we use our both. And so So we know what's going on. Right now. It's a good formula for wins, and we'll keep it going. Yeah, keep. They're all going in Cincinnati starting tonight Gave me an ear right here on Wtmj. "D. The baseball finally starting to fly for the Milwaukee Brewers, five dingers on Tuesday night, albeit in a 10 to 7 loss to the Detroit Tigers. The Brewers win streak snapped at five games. They do have the day off today before starting a four game weekend serious with the Diamondbacks said and FAM field tomorrow night. Now the pitch strike three looking on this one is over. Tigers game is split in the series Final 10 7 deep fried Weeks worth of production there for your Milwaukee Brewers. Offensively Bruise 3 60, sponsored by century foods and injuries. Solar and electric. Joining us live as he does every Wednesday morning on Brewer's 3 60 Brewers radio network play by play manager Flavoring Good morning, sir. Hey, Good morning, everybody. So much for this baseball being dead and goofy and no good. It sure was flying last night. Yes, sure was nice to see the Brewers Pop five home runs and and you hate to waste seven runs in the ballgame when when the pitching just got you out to a tough start. Six runs in the second inning for Detroit, and the Brewers just couldn't catch up. But it was. It was a fun ball game and balls flying yesterday. That's for sure. So Jeff Colton walling Tyrone Taylor, the positives but one of the negatives and I hate to bring us down, But it's a big story line for the Brewers is testing here. He just cannot seem to get it going. At the Big League level. What do you think the plan is for him going forward what Liberty's gonna do? It's a great question. I'm not sure. But it's It's tough. It's tough to watch at times is casting me. Everybody knows what he could do from the 2019 season where he's He's got one of the great rookie years and you think that he's on this great path and then last year Things went a little sideways and you could blame the pandemic. You could blame the 60 game season, just not getting himself going. But this year, it's kind of the same deal. I feel like he just needs to have a couple of balls fall and then he gets his his mentality back in there, But at this point is Craig Counsell set on the postgame show yesterday. You gotta have some production from the position. You've got to have some production from that spot in the order. And if the Brewers aren't getting that from test and here, they're gonna have to make a change. They're gonna have to see what they can do to try and get him right are their options that immediately leapt to mind. Well, I mean, Daniel Vogel back. He's in house. You can that you might give him a little bit more time over first base, and I think he might with with right handers on the Mount to there's a kid names that green, who's tearing the cover off the ball, and Triple Eight have to make a roster move to do that. Get him up because he's on a minor league contract. But he's really hitting the ball well down in the minor leagues. You just gotta try and find us as good or bad as possible right now and save for a couple of really good sacrifice bonds from from test and here here recently, there hasn't been a lot of Jeff. Bigger and essential news yesterday outside of just Milwaukee. The Cardinals placing there is Jack Flare Young, the 10 Day Island. It sounds like he's got a pretty serious oblique injury. How big might that be? For the race atop the NL Central's we get into the dog days of summer here. Yeah, I was reading that, too. And it's It's bad news for for ST Louis Hispanics for baseball, too, because it's fun to watch Jack clarity pitch and and the Brewers are going to see the Cardinals for awhile. Now. That's when Jack Fuller and he might be coming back in August, but the same time it zah bomber and the Cardinals. We're gonna have to scramble the figure things out of the rotation rotation was thin as itwas, um with some injury problems. But it it bodes well for the Brewers. If they can take advantage of it and play good baseball here for the next month or so, and like they have been over the last two weeks, it's gonna really tighten things up in the central Division for the summer. "De it is one and done this year for the Milwaukee Brewers in the post season they drop the NL wild card game to the nationals by a final score of four to three last night the burners did take a three one lead into the bottom of the eighth inning Josh hater proceeded to load the bases in part due to his lack of commands the ending though may have been extended by a blown call by the umpiring crew Washington's Michael Taylor was awarded a base after being hit by a pitch the pitch though pretty clearly looked like it hit the knob of his back first here's a you're describing what he saw on the play I definitely got the bad but also got his hand so you know the ruling on the fair was hit by a pitch in this this is probably wasn't enough to return it after a prolonged discussion the umpiring crew stuck with the hit by pitch ruling one Soto drove in the game when he runs for batters later on so does go ahead single Bruce right fielder Trent Gresham let the ball get past him in the outfield that ultimately allowed the winning run to score Grisham knows this one's gonna hurt for a while it's been heard and expected her and when I really kinda deportation going off season well the Los obviously stings burrs manager Craig Counsell provided some perspective after the game this is a game you think about for awhile and of course right gonna think about this game because these opportunities are hard to come by it's it's hard to put yourself in the playoffs and get yourself calls to win in a row all while Kerr game so it's gonna staying as it should as we expect but I still get laughs with just how we accomplished what we did
