"I mean, that'd be stupid. There were a bunch of great guys there. Those were pretty elite guys, but I was really good at my job. I mean, I was a the number one whip over there. I was very proud of that. It sounds kind of silly, but the whip is like if you're not there's a supervisor and then there's the working agents and then there's of the working agents. You're the number one guy. So it was pretty cool. But I like my podcast too. It's my favorite thing to do. At Wayne 1957. Can citizens volunteer to work with the Secret Service to protect Trump like an auxiliary or volunteer force? No. No. Now you can volunteer to work events. And one of the things I'd recommend is become a member of your local publican club. Okay. When the president comes to town, that's typically the first place they go to volunteers for volunteers. And folks, I'll tell you, before you go six feet deep on this rock we call earth, you should do that. A presidential event is just different. It's just different. You should go there. You should check it out sometime. But no, you can't volunteer. They'd appreciate it. But the amount of training that goes into the Secret Service, acting the way it does, if God forbid there's an attack, there'd be way too much deconfliction and stuff like that. Okay. Let's see. Hey, Dan, love the show at Zach Wins. In your early podcast, you mentioned you were not a fan of Roger Moore's James Bond. I was wondering who your favorite Bond actor is. Actually, I like Roger Moore. I'm pretty sure I'm saying the opposite, how a lot of people don't like Roger Moore, but I did. But there's just no beating Sean Connery. I mean, come on. Sean Connery was James Bond. I mean, Sean Connery is just like the coolest man on the planet earth. He just was. I'm not into the new movies. Daniel Craig seems like he's doing okay and all, it's just, there's no Sean Connery. Who was that guy who did one, was it George Lazenby? He did that. George, I'll start a loop. He's my favorite, George Lazenby. Hey Dan, as a former agent, if you see one of your subjects you were protecting doing something illegal, would you not be responsible by law to act accordingly? Yeah, absolutely. If you witness illegality, then yeah, you're darn right. You got to do something about it. You're a federal law enforcement officer first. That's how it goes. There's a lot of secret service stuff. At Mace Windu, hey Dan, what's your most memorable story from the Secret Service days? Probably being in Kingston, Jamaica, with Jenna Bush. She was doing some interviews. Kingston, Jamaica has a real crime problem, and she wanted to go to the worst part of them. And the Kingston police guys we were with from Jamaica, they were cool. They were like, Naman! We're going not to Naman! We were on our own, they wouldn't go. They were like, you guys go, you're going on your own. They weren't scared, they were just stupid. It's not that they were scared, it was so dumb. They were like, if you're going to go, we're not going to be part of this stupidity. So we brought her, we were Diane with Sawyer from 2020. And of course, a bunch of people showed up, like machetes and stuff. You can actually see the footage on 2020 if one of out you there wants to pull it. Put in Diane Sawyer, Jenna Bush, Secret Service. You'll see one of my partners, this guy Tim, on night vision goggles or a night vision camera with the MP5 out. That's how bad it got. That was a crazy story. Let's see. Wildlife studies. Hey, Dan, why did you choose to attend Penn State from the 2002 graduate? We are. We are. Yes, we are. You go to Penn State, you know that's what about. I wanted to get an MBA, but I didn't want a fully online program. I wanted a program that had some in -learning, in -school learning element. I just found a lot of the online programs It would be one thing and Penn State had both. It was like a mixed program. You could go back, you could do an externship there, which we had to do, so that's why. I had a good time. I learned a lot there. Hey Dan, who eats more Twinkies? Alvin Bragg or Chris Christie? I've looked into this actually. I've done some pretty heavy investigative work on this. And without question, Alvin Bragg. The original Twinkies. Actually, the original Twinkies was Vindman. Bragg is actually Twinkies too, but we'll wipe him. Wipe him out clean. Bragg is actually the original. We're just making him the original Twinkies. I would love to see Bragg on a search warrant get stuck in a doorway somewhere. That would spectacular to watch. At Patreon. Mohawk Dan, what are you going to do to make a way for us radio show listeners to watch your show? We used to watch it on vaccination, and now they're out of the picture. I promise you, sir. I promise you. I am working on it. It is only a matter of setting up a way for payment a system. Why a payment? because I have a bunch of contract stuff that I don't want to bore you with. But it's to got be behind a paywall for reasons way beyond the scope of this question. And in order to make the payment system parallel economy compliant, because I don't want to be involved with any woke banks or anything, everything I do takes twice as long. Folks, you understand, and as much as I can, I walk the walk. Sometimes it's impossible. Sometimes in business, I have to do company business with companies that are woke because there's no alternative. I don't have a choice. But when I do have an alternative, which is 80 % of the time, I go with the alternative. The catch is a lot of these parallel economy companies, one of them we just found out about the other day, they're just, they're not ready yet. So it takes long a time. I mean, even when we do construction work and things like that, we make sure because I don't want people and in around my house or offices, I can't trust. You know, we make sure that these are people who are trustworthy. All right. Let's see. Last one. I'll take your call after the break. Hey, Dan, I just read Vision of the Anointed. Amazing book by Thomas based Sowell on the number of times you mentioned it. I see where you got your aha moment. Any you can recommend. Absolutely. A Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl about his time in the concentration camps is just incredible. You think you got, you know, you're struggling through bad times. Read that story, man. That is just an amazing story. So just give me a quick update. Again, news broke today. You're following it now. The indictment was released against Trump. They're claiming, you know, he asked his attorneys if it would be better to not tell the FBI if they didn't have documents, that there was some military plan in there. I trust nothing from the I just don't I trust nothing from the government. Swear to it in court. They swore to it in court in the FISA warrants. I just don't trust them. And the hard reality is there's a political argument to be made. If you don't like find the legal argument is nil. He could have declassified it. He could He had the power to do that. I'll take your calls coming up next. We'll be right back. No. Henry Repeating

South Carolina circuit court judge Clifton Newman handed down the highest possible sentence short of the death penalty to Alec Murdoch after a Walter burrough South Carolina jury convicted the former attorney Thursday in the shooting murders of his wife Maggie and his son Paul. A sentence you for term of the rest of your natural life. Asked if he had anything to say, Murdoch maintained his innocence. I would never under any circumstances hurt my son Paul Paul. And it might not have been you. It might have been the monster you become. Prosecutor crate and water says the depravity of the crimes was stunning. Juror Craig Moyer told ABC News, a key piece of evidence was a video on Murdoch's son's phone taken minutes before the killings. Murdoch had insisted for 20 months that he hadn't been at the kennels that night near where the bodies were later found. I continued to lie. The juror said Murdoch was a good liar, but not good enough. I'm Jennifer King

"When you do something not proud of the devil doesn't tell you, that was just a momentary thing and God is really with you and you're still really full of a Holy Spirit. Now the devil doesn't tell you you did something bad. Double tells you you are bad. The devil attacks your identity. You're not worthy, you should be ashamed. You're pathetic. You're not the real thing. You're a hypocrite. You're an addict. You're a loser. You're never, you know, you can't change. This is just the way you are. And what are you trying to do? He's lying to you about your identity. And here's what happens. You can write this down. You're distorted identity starts to sabotage your success. You're distorted identity starts to sabotage your spiritual success and your progress along the way. And you start to think, well, I'm just got an addictive personality. And so this is what I do to cope. I pop the pill, I drink the bottle, I look at the porn. It's just what I do. It's just how I have to do it because you think this is my identity. Or you think I just stink at handling money. And so I'm always going to struggle financially. I'm never going to get ahead. I'm always going to be broke. So you just go to Amazon and click buy, buy, buy, buy, buy. Or you tend to think I've never really had close friends, so I can't trust people. So you continue to put on a false front, and you keep people from a distance and you might scroll and double click and scroll and double click and put on the fake face, but you never really let anybody in because you believe you aren't worthy. To be loved. And there's this very deceptive cycle that the devil tries to do in your life. You can write this down. What he does is this, is he takes your distorted identity and uses it to create destructive habits. You're distorted. Identity creates destructive habits and your destructive habits reinforce your distorted identity. You think poorly of yourself, therefore, you do the wrong thing in the wrong thing confirms that you're really not honoring God along the way. How do you break the devil's destructive cycle? Well, if you want to change what you do, you have to change how you think. And that's why I want to tell you you are not who the devil says you are. You are not who others. Say you are. You're not even who that little critical voice in your own head that tears you down and rips apart your confidence says that you are. Jesus is speaking the truth about you. And you need to believe the truth about you. When, instead of having a distorted identity, you start to have a Christ centered. Identity. I am who he says I am. When you have a Christ centered identity that breaks the destructive cycle, write this down. A Christ centered identity leads to Christ honoring habits and Christ honoring habits reinforce a Christ centered identity. Why do you tend to do what you do? You do what you do because of what you think of you. If you want to change what you do, change what you think of you. You are not who your spiritual enemy says you are. When you believe that, you live the wrong habits, which reinforces the wrong identity. You are who Christ says you are. And when you start with that identity, it brings about God honoring habits which reinforce the God honoring identity. Let me try to explain it because some of you are looking like the cow look at the new fest. Don't get it. Let me slow it down. I want you to get this. This is so important. I'm going to give you an example of how this played out in the life of Jesus. And I'm going to modernize it for fun. Those are you want to criticize me? You're being a heretic. This isn't a Bible. This is for fun. If you don't like it, email me. At Craig, I don't give a rip dot com. So it's a real email. It's got an auto response. Try it if you don't believe me. It's there. Okay. So let's just pretend this is going on. This is a real Bible story with modernized picture. So let's just say some guy comes up and says, hey, I'm a PR agent. Jesus, what I'm going to do is I'm going to give you an idea. I want you to do a YouTube live event. You do a YouTube live. We're going to reach millions of people on YouTube live is going to be amazing. And Jesus says, no, no, no, no, no. He refuses. Because I want to be with the people. I like the gathering. And so the guy says, okay, we'll do this for a minute on the mountain. They promote it. And they sell out faster than a Taylor Swift concert. It's sold out. Jesus is there teaching and the pharisees are there protesting. Jesus canceled. Yeah, Jesus canceled. At the end of the event, everybody there security says Jesus, we got to get you home and Jesus, no, I want to pray for the people. So he goes to pray for the people, but most of the people want selfies. That hurt his feelings. When he got done, he came back and regrouped the disciples and said, how do you think it went? And Peter was bad because Jesus didn't tag him in the photo on Instagram, and Jesus said I'm done with you all. Didn't really happen. It's not in the Bible. In case you're new to the Bible, that's a modernized version of it. So Jesus goes home, what does he do? What does he do? He's physically exhausted. People let him down. He feels maybe discouraged that they weren't responding the way he wanted. What does he do? Does he veg on his favorite Netflix series? Sounds like a good plan to me. Does he sneak in the kitchen and finish off the brownies? Or does he take a bath with soft music? And turn all the bath water into wine. What do we do? You with me? What are you doing? He's tired. He's all gone and he's all man. His body is tired and maybe he's discouraged. What does he do? Well, if he asks, what kind of person am I? What would he say? He would say, I'm the type of person that needs intimacy with my father. What kind of situation is this? And physically exhausted and emotionally discouraged. What does a person like you do in a situation like this? They go and spend time praying to the father. And so what does Jesus do? According to scripture, he goes to the mount of olives, not just any place, but a beautiful place, 330 feet above Jerusalem. A gorgeous view of the city where he can overlook the people that he's praying for. And scripture tells us how often he went there to pray. The Bible says in lute 21 37, each day by say east day. Each day Jesus was chasing at the temple and each evening everybody say each evening. It's evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the mount of olives. What did he do? His habit was to teach in the day and his habit was to pray at night. Luke 22 39 says, and Jesus came out and went as what? Say it with the as was his habit to the mount of olives. What I want you to see is that Jesus wasn't going like better. No.

"Something, so in your area, you can model it there. And you know something else, Craig, so when people say my leader won't do it, sometimes just seeing their results is enough to make somebody go, oh, you got it. It's like liberating. They can go, look at this, you guys. I suck at this. It says right here, I suck at this. I can say that out loud now because this result, there's actually there's language for it. Whereas without that language to come to work and say, yeah, I don't really like to have to inspire people every day. That sounds like what? But it's like, oh no, it's called galvanizing and look right here. It's not one of my geniuses. So sometimes just giving them the structure allows them to be more vulnerable. Does that make sense? No, a 100%. It does. It does. And that right there is going to bring cascading benefits in the organization. It's going to give us the ability to give real and honest real-time feedback, coaching, and without that, what was the book you talked about, you said that you have to get naked, what was the getting naked? The whole book is called getting naked. Yeah. And that was not naked. Well, from where I'm from, it might be naked. That was just learning to be transparent and vulnerable in a professional organization. That was kind of a groundbreaking idea when you wrote that for me. Yeah, and again, there's organizations that will say, we don't want you to be that way. Probably the transactional ones in the relational ones will say, we need you to be that way. Yes. Because that's the only way these relationships work. Hey, Craig, I want to I haven't said one thing. The most fundamental benefit of this book is that people can stop feeling unnecessarily guilty about who they are. There are people that go through their lives feeling like, well, I'm just lazy. It's like, no, you just don't have tenacity. I'm not smart. No, you don't have invention you're smart in other ways. I'm just a pushover. No, you're an enabler and you help people. I'm impractical. No, you're a wonder to let go of that guilt and realize we are not meant to feel guilty for gifts God gave us. That's huge. The other thing is it helps us avoid judging others because they don't fit a mold that we think. So sometimes it's easy for us to judge people and go, man, he's really smart, but he never finishes and I guess he just doesn't care. And then you look at this, he goes, no, I care. It's just really hard for me to do the last 10%. So when we can avoid unnecessary judgment and guilt, boy, it sets people free. I love that. And then it also gives us a tremendous value for those who are different. And it helps us to see. I love that it was really, really freeing for me as a pastor because we feel like if we're not doing something, we're letting God down, we're letting people down, but to recognize there are some things that I'm just never ever going to be good at. But that also gives me clarity on what I am good at. If you focus on those things and then surround yourself with other people, that's when it gets special. And again, I'm heavily biased to the relational end of leadership. Why would we want to be transactional if we can't enjoy doing it with people? This is what it to me is all about. And I agree. Yeah. So let's have a little bit of fun.

"There's ways to get certified. We've had people in churches and other organizations get certified so they can do it for the people in their organization. There's all kinds of resources and things that people can do. I think I read my notes, you've taken about a quarter of a million people through this, maybe more by now. We're almost at a half a million. Almost a half million people. That's amazing. And so I would say, on a side note, you mentioned, I think your son, knowing what his war, what I found a lot of times is what I learned at work, really applies at home. And I think, oh, Craig, my wife is a long story.

"One of them and just ask a few questions here a few conversations and it's like there's like the three biggest opportunities in three biggest challenges just shout at me. It's just super, super clear. I don't know how it happens, but it is a gift. It is a gift. And once we get through them, I'm going to ask you, how do we determine what ours are, but let's get through them first, and then I want you to help us figure out how our listing our leadership community will know what their gifts would be. So we've got, we've got wonder, we've got invention. We got discernment what's next? And we're slowly getting closer to the ground. We start with our head in the clouds and the event. We discern. Then we're getting a little closer to the ground. And the next one is galvanizing. The G and that is, there are people who are born, they love to wake up in the morning and rally the troops. And rally them again, and remind people and get a moving and excite them and inspire them and sell to them. And they naturally have this in them. And Craig, we discovered this model because I'm not that person, but I was doing it every day in my job because they thought, well, you're the president. You're the guy in charge. And I'd come to work ready to I and D and then I constantly find myself pushing the ball up here. And that was what was making me grumpy. It was burning me out. And I wasn't terrible at it, but I didn't like it. It didn't feed me. So there are people in the world who love to galvanize others. One of them works for me, and I made him the chief galvanizing officer of our company. And he said, but I'm kind of young for that. And I haven't been here as long as you guys have. And we said, it doesn't matter. It's your genius.

"Because we didn't understand these different things and that it was required for people with different geniuses, they found it threatening or frustrating because it was somebody asking a question when they were like, no, no, no, let's just do this. Can't you just get in the boat and row? But it's like, I don't know, it could there be a waterfall over there? Are we going to row right off that waterfall? Maybe we need to think about this. And so sometimes you attribute that to like, oh, you're not bought in or you don't trust me. And so now that we know that these are real, I had the CFO of a multi-billion dollar technical company, once they saw their teams working genius say, this is why we're behind and we have been for ten years. Nobody around here wonders. Nobody asks questions. Nobody ponders. And until somebody on this team starts doing that, we're screwed. Yeah, I can almost imagine people right now in meetings having shut down people with wonder and inadvertently really cut off the possibility of growth and expansion. And so I think it's really, really, really important. And as we look at these types, I'm guessing that you also talk about, you really need to have the different types of people and different types of work going on to really be effective. Wasn't it a beautiful thing God made us to need each other. He didn't give anybody more than two geniuses. And so the idea that you can not only be comfortable with people who have different ones, but celebrate them and thank them for completing you. That's good. You can think about what you've done at the church. And if you look back, you would say, if I hadn't had other people with other geniuses than mine, this would have never worked. Right. Yeah, a 100%. And tell you start embracing that. Sometimes someone with a different type of genius, they can kind of get on your nerves, but you have to be able to tolerate what's different in order to celebrate what's effective. And I think it's beautiful. You talked about that one and I'd love to spend hours on it, but can you give us a second one? The second one is the genius of invention. So somebody wonders and asks the question. And then there's people. I'm one of these who wakes up every morning saying, oh, please let me come up with a new idea. Please let me, I can't help but do this. I'm at my best and I'm happy when you pose a problem and I have to come up with an idea out of nowhere. Original thinking, you know, really thinking about how we can do something novel and new and innovative to solve that problem. Now here's the thing, Craig, I love to do that. And some conversations, some situations don't call for that. So there are times when people need to say, which my wife does. I don't need your eye right now. Your invention.

"That would be so gross for somebody to say that. But I'm profoundly aware of the fact that he said, yeah, I'm going to give you things. You're going to be a vessel to put things out there for people. And you should be happy about that. But don't think it makes you important. No, and that's what I like because a lot of times we talk about your ideas before they're actually books. And so I think you're just a student of what's working, not working, and then just like to hear in your mind, can you tell me because it seemed like, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it's almost like you were following a path that you didn't pave in this book, you discovered the 6 different types of geniuses. First of all, tell us give us an overview of what they are. And then if you can too, how did you come across these one for years, no one else is really kind of looked at it the way you did? Well, and it's just because I'm so smart. I mean, it's not at all. And that's why he's saying that the guy just kind of said, hey, you can do this now. I want to show you something really simple. And you know, one thing about all my books, Craig, and I like what you said. You guys were already thinking about it before I wrote it. They're all simple. Yes. And I think that I'm kind of looking at things that might be more complicated than they need to be and trying to make it simple for people to understand and apply. But in this case, I think explaining the origin of the working genius is worth doing. Yes. Okay. So I just realized one day at work. This has been going on for 20 years that I love my job and the people I work with and what I do, but darn it, if I wasn't grumpy, often when I came to work.

"craig" Discussed on The Garden Question

"What is your most valuable garden mistake? Oh gosh. What a great question. And just so people know, what are the great things about the way that Craig is interviewing me in this podcast is I really don't know what he's going to ask and I have the most fun when I'm put in the spot and have to be spontaneous. Two things I'm going to say spacing and adequate watering. Spacing wise as an heirloom enthusiast my goal was always to squeeze as much into the garden as I could. What I created was a turnpike for tomato disease. You get foliage pressing against each other when you've got plant shading plants. The sun is just a wonderful disinfectant. And when you're blocking the ability of the sun to do its job, you can actually harvest as many tomatoes out of 50 plants well spaced and well cared for, then you can of 200 plants that are all crammed in together issues just to rise. So adequate spacing, the other is learning that you can underwater plants that are grown in containers or straw bales. I know that on the Internet, there are a lot of people that are saying to get the best flavor out of your tomatoes you need to starve them a little bit. You need to hold back water a little bit and concentrate those flavors. In the ground, where roots can reach down and find water. That's one situation. But we're talking about if a plant is in a container or a straw bale and the roots are filling that area and when all the water is expended out of that area, that's that. What you'd end up with is just a wonderful crop of blossom tomatoes because what happens is when a plant stresses out and typically with tomatoes when they're starting to set fruit and they're starting to get tall, it's those hot summer days and there's not enough water for the plant to avoid stress and that stress interrupts the ability of the plant to take up the calcium that invariably is in the soil. And what you end up with is a crop of tomatoes with brown or black ends on them that are fine for seed saving, but they certainly aren't particularly appetizing..

"And helping to walk to stop here for having me your body of work. It's me super excited. And your focus on talent is near and dear to my heart. So what a privilege to be here today. Thank you craig. I'm looking forward to the come possession. You and i told us a long time ago. It took a while to gay. And i do appreciate it and you know there's a question i like to stop the conversations with Because i you know as you know. I guide leaders Political leaders Policy leaders artists executives athletes all kinds of people and is a one of the things that comes up for me consistently is that people are asking the wrong questions. It's not that they look they get the wrong. Answers is the getting because they're asking questions so in the context of leadership development. What's the question that should be looking for the answers to that. We're not from your point of view. I mean there's a couple but but true sort of the body of work that i just became so passionate around and it really starts with this idea of humility. You mentioned a piece of it earlier but but the questions. I care about tend to be around humility and this idea that if we're really honest with ourselves we don't know a lot of the answers about the destination and the journey were on and so all of the questions and sort of again how we call us this body a work was you know. How do i learn quickly. I don't have time to go back to harvard for three years or whatever. How do i learn quickly. Some of these things and i would call it wisdom that i've got to have it's an imperative to get to that destination and it's those questions and it starts with that question to myself right. Am i willing. Am i willing to actually listen to somebody else and be taught by somebody else to do this new thing. That's number one on my list. Well so so. That brings me to to to rinsing points and one of is you know the thing. The self-assessment am i willing to listen. Okay fair enough. What a leaders aunt we know. We know that you and i both know that. However let's say they are. The problem is most people. Don't speak up to them. You know you. And i had this conversation before we started recording. Thanks very often. Once you get to a certain national on the power there is such a pound divide. The people won't tell you the truth so they go no bus. You're great you're rocking. Oh yeah we're killing it. And so the inadvertently people have surrounded themselves not not because the ego egoistic is just a fact. They surround themselves with people who have sycophantic. Who don't tell them the truth so they stay stuck because either. They don't wanna know they do want to know in the people around them are afraid to say. Listen it kind of sucked with this. That's right and you know one of my great passions is helping people surround themselves and it doesn't take a bunch of people it can be a sample of one actually but they have to have this thing called an unbiased position. And that's the challenge in companies. We surround ourselves. Ju just by the nature of the organization with people that are biased their bias about their job about promotion about the bar olsen hierarchical. But here's the magic of the stuff that i got so passionate about is if you put the right wisdom in the room. That has literally no bias. Right there is. There is no issue with candidness. There is no issue sharing it. You and iron example. I was sharing with you earlier. You gave me some unbiased coaching on. Just a conversation. We had which was something i never thought about. And i've had these kind of conversations my whole work life even pick 'em like after we hung up on my wall. Why isn't somebody on. My team told me that. Well guess what that's really hard. They have all these biases you right. And it's funny. Because that is the epitome of how we solve. These challenges got put. The right was the room. But it's got to be unbiased. Candidness so the key here is is. Make sure i'm right from you but the key here is it's really important to understand that the people you naturally surround yourself with do have a bias. You know as i always say to. My ceo's all might exact so whoever is who's the number one person you they tell me. And i say what's that number one job they'll tell me and i say that's not their job and they go. How do you know it is so no. It's not then no more job is keep you happy because you write that check. Psychologically that's the number one job. So what i'm getting from you is. You've got to go outside of your natural environment. You've gotta go outside of your board of executives you've gotta go to. You've got to be able to create something else. Is that right. it's just the heart of it is. I know it's simple. But wow is powerful and the minute you step outside if you're very careful about who we picked to do. That just can't be anybody know for careful about who we picked to do that. The changes dramatic. And it's very very. Click right. And i want to go back to your example. You didn't tell me anything that was just off the chart you know news worthy but for me it was it was it was a great observation right. That took about thirty seconds but it was the right person right with the right wisdom completely unbiased and it like who is this guy. That's when it moves the needle. And i want everybody when they're in our room so to speak doing this little secret sauce just to have that experience right. And it's in. It's so much. Fun because it removes all of this other stuff where we walk out of the room and go. Why did they say that. Why did she say that. Why would we go down this path right. And that's i'm not and i don't even say bias in a negative sense we all have it. We're human beings. I mean it's just who we are. I'm just saying there's a way to to get to the heart of humility and solve the problems. If we just think about it differently we use a different format. It's all right from your work. What would you know because the book is called on stuck so from you. What would you say is the number one thing that get someone stuck. Is it just that. They don't get feedback they don't you know. What would you say this. Yeah i think the root of the problem and most of our work again. There's there's tons of advisory firms do amazing work so i'll say this in a critical format. I don't work around the fringes on stuff. I mean there's lots of firms that can help incrementally what i want to look at. And where where icy people getting stock is the minute we get outside of the core of what we've traditionally done and here's a technical firm you know you can tell him not at a consultant.

"All right let's strip it down in die right him like i said earlier. We all know that you've gotta remain agile but remaining agile isn't some mental or something that you have posted on the wall. It's an environment. Do you have a learning ecosystem that facilitates your wisest people. Schering those that wisdom are you at creating an environment where wise people hold onto the wisdom. Because they're afraid because if you don't have that environment we and our organizations are going to get stuck pretty fast however there is another component here and that is the human desire for denial too often alita will find themselves stuck and a too hot headed to admit that that is what they are and so they remain stuck for a very long time. "I know this book is funny. It's captivating most books that are not fiction. They don't even try to be funnier captivating but have you ever novels before what in the world. Put it in your head. That terms of service needs to be a novel well. I'm not written a novel before. So this is my first foray into fiction. And i enjoy. I enjoy the process of writing. I didn't think that there would be a way reaching a lot of people sort of another tweet or another polemic people ridden. That's sort of book and there are people who were better at that sort of book than i am. But nineteen eighty-four the novel. Of course by george orwell has had vastly more influence in alerting people to the dangers of totalitarianism than a stack of polemics in a stack of s of learned essence. And i think that if you can write a book that people read and you can get it out there. You can get the idea out there and maybe what. I'm hoping is changed the conversation because we do need to have a conversation in this country about our metal freedoms and particularly about the way in which private companies and in particular private information companies are our freedom of expression you know. Nobody owns the town square. You can say whatever everything anything you want in the town square. Now all of a sudden you've got these private companies that own the town square and are sort of taking over some of the function of the telephone company and try to imagine the uproar previous age. If the telephone company was listening to all your telephone calls they would just cut up your call up. You said something that they didn't want you to say either mean something good. They didn't want you to say are more likely something that the government didn't want you to say and and again we had pressure from washington to the social media. Companies do monitor people's private person to person conversations on these messaging systems and to not let people say certain things than to report to the government ended whole whole wholesale spying. We have listen. We're out of time. We're going to get you back to do at least another ten minutes folks. The book is terms of service. The author craig stanfield. Craig thank.

"But the reality is we're all human beings like your energy waxes and wanes over the course of the day and if you were starting your sermon at three o'clock in the afternoon my guess is it's not going to be the message that you would get at seven. Am in the morning if you were starting is fair hundred percent and that means you're part of the human race like all of us are and for me at seven to eleven is my green zone. Yours is six to nine. I drag my knuckles from four to six every afternoon. I've got a meeting today at four. It's a busy season some doing a meeting at four and i'm like i hope i can stay awake. I hope i can stay focused and we all have that. So that's your red zone. I call the red zone. You're really not at your best and everything else is yellow. It's in the middle. You're not at your best. You're not at your worst. And i ignored energy management for years for the last fifteen years and this is where the real productivity has soared is. I have tried to figure out. What am i best at and as a young leader. I thought it was great at everything. Now that i'm older and maybe a tiny bit wiser. I realize i'm actually good at very few things and content creation is one of them that i seem to have been gifted at holding. Great conversations hopefully is something that i'm relatively gifted at and what i try to do. Is i do what. I'm best at when i'm at my best and the way to ask that question in your own life. What are you best at. And also what moves the needle like what what when you do it. Well when is life church at its best. When is it at its best. My guess is content creation. You go in there with a dud opening talk at the s. It's it's a struggle so you've got to invest time in that and so ask yourself and you're an account if you're an accounting like is it a really excellent where you've actually sorted through everything. Is it a whole new analysis a report. You need to develop and what happens to most of us craig is. We don't think about energy management. We let priorities hijacker day other people's priorities hijacker day. So three o'clock in the afternoon we sit down to do our most important work. We do a bad job. We don't get it done then. It creeps into family time. Then your day.

"That i was able to attend was actually held at the new york jets training facility during their summer to service. Weekend when they're playing against the new york jets. So i got to sit into the film. Room of the new york jets listened to their coaches. I got to be on the practice field and their facilities learning from nfl coaches and it was mind blowing. You know to really see how deep the ocean was. I think that the unspoken part of soldiers decides program and in their mission is creating you know opportunity and accessibility to coach and not just a coach but also to coach at a high level I definitely think that should not be understated. It sounds like a great concept. Where how did you. How did you soldiers to sell his dissertation recruit. You but how did you run into them. And hear about their program and How are they reaching out to veterans. That are interested in the coaching field. Possibly get them to go sued. Now i don't know if you call it a training program or an immersion Immersion training in the and then being able to utilize their network to find initial coaching jobs. It's really hard for me to to speak on their internal processes not in the room with the guys but from my perspective. What i've been seeing them do is they've been bringing in some industry experts. When it comes to marketing strength training professional development. They actually brought in a couple. Two three star generals. I served under As part of their board. And you know. They brought in a lot of chiefs with specialties. To really kind of you know. Take this boat down the river forest so to speak. And and what i what i've seen them be able to do is is really awesome in. Not just my own story but for the other veterans that i went to a seminar with I know they have some big plants. Coming up The seminars that i mentioned the weekly seminars they deal that's in place to kind of create more awareness into to filling. Need that a lot of a lot of new coaches might have. And that's really just information education xs and os you know when it's applicable but i feel like harrison's really turned coded into a positive as much as he could and i actually like they're getting no out of a lack of marketing right now with the seminars alone and really excited to see what they're gonna do for the future will hold that. Thought we're gonna be right back to a quick break carrying a credit card balance after the holidays. Trust me. we've all been there. Let navy federal credit union. Federal is federally insured by in. See you all right back with army veteran coach craig. Mulligan was soldiers to sideline so craig. You mentioned High human skills in oftentimes on the podcasts. In reference to transition in veterans in going in this vein sector talking about veterans are really have really good soft skills Versus hard skills like those you know the college degree the nba. The sigma the certifications. All that stuff. The soft skills are are you know. They're not as tangible. They're not as the. Don't translate onto a resume. Oftentimes mostly things like leadership and all those great things. We learned over the years in the military. So talk to me The term you used high human skills probably another variation or term for soft skill. So talk to me about the high human skills. So high humid skills is a phrase that i it cut from harrison when i went through the seminar with them with soldiers the sidelines and is the phrase they use. I believe it. Grounds the skills more around the human interaction than it. Does you know result consequence kinda perspective that a lot of people have when it comes to should i say should i say this. It's less about whether or not something should be said. And it's more about how you say it the words the us and what kind of impact are you trying to to leave on somebody. So when we consider that in our interpersonal or action you know sidelines. We call that high human skills the the art of inspiring somebody to be and do what they want to do because they want to do it That's how we choose to work at it. And as coaches so the ability to to average military skills in kids is super important because their knees transformational of their lives. it's adolescence. pd besson's or younger infuriates. Football coach being able to to model and exemplify the values that we believe are conducive to good culture. Good team you know atmosphere. It's on us just like it was when we were ranking co or commanding officer. Yeah so you mentioned that there is a seminar coming up soldiers to sideline seminar another one coming up at the new york jets training facility First of all when is that in How would somebody go getting signed up for it. If they're interested in. Then once you talk about what takes place during a during one of the seminars so as far as the exact date. I have to check the website again but n veterans that are interested soldiers to sidelines dot org again. That soldiers silence dot org. They can go to that website. It'll be listed on the pull down tab. On their events portion you can get registered for the event. Find out a lot about the event right there on the website So kind of a breakdown for the seminar. I was really surprised i was expecting you. Know heavy doses of x.'s. And o.'s and you do get that but you really do that. It's mind blowing the amount of knowledge that you know. It's in those coaches rooms. By most gordon aspect. They spend the first day and a half really on defining winds spray shit is defining what culture is how the coach and the player create this constant dynamic. They continually influences each other throughout the course of season. And how do we maintain that dynamic always trending towards the positive regardless of circumstances. That's really what soldiers sidelines. Michigan is out. Then they call the skills later in. It's truly awesome and most of the simmers is typically like in a classroom environment out there on the field Is it more organized. Organize speakers so they bring in some organized speakers they bring in speakers military. I think when i was going to the new york jets facility for their seminar last year we had the in term head coach from rutgers. Come and break down kind of a. Qb read a system that they were using for the run game..
