Election 2020 Analysis: Bethany Mandel, Ron Kampeas

"Mandel is an editor writer and podcast at ricochet and online hub. For conservative conversation she's also a rising social media star and conservative columnist. Who has garnered quite a bit of attention. In recent months decrying the government overreach of quarantine restrictions and going from being a never trumper in two thousand sixteen to supporting the president's twenty twenty reelection in a recent column in the forward she talks about why pollsters trying to project the election's outcome got it so wrong once again but don't expect this conversation to be a breakdown of methodology and shifting demographics. Her explanation is much simpler than that and she will explain bethany. Welcome to people of the pot. I think you so much for having me. I'm sorry for the puppy noise. You might hear in the background okay. Now before we begin. I want to remind our listeners. Ajc is a nonpartisan five. Oh one c. Three not for profit entity that neither endorses nor opposes candidates for elective office. So anything i say or ask or challenge really is in pursuit of an explanation. Because i do want our audience to listen so bethany for those who did not read your column. Tell us why. Pollsters predicted a blue wave that we did not see in last week's election so i think that there's going to be a lot of explanations that become clear over the next few months there might be problems with the way that they call people how they call people but i noticed anecdotally and i was saying for months beforehand the most simple explanation for why i thought that it would be extremely close or why the president would garner. Reelection is just because people were lying because they didn't feel comfortable telling the truth and when they would get a call who you voted for from a stranger because you don't actually know who upholstery is. And you can't confirm their identity on the phone When they get a call from pollster hi. I'm just curious for you're voting for. They're not going to tell you on the phone who they're voting for. And in my column i give a story that i thought was really illustrative of my thinking on it coming up prior to the election. Which was i have a. I have a girlfriend who lives in a swing state. i think it's north carolina. And i asked her at the outset of our conversation who e-voting for just sort of in passing and she said. I am still undecided. I don't know what to do and we had a very long conversation. And what we're really talking about was actually. She was doing a conference that got cancelled by a social media. Mob and people were falsely accused of racism. Yada yada and the entire six months of work that she did for the conference just went up in smoke and and it was cancelled and so we were talking about that. And i said this is the kind of stuff that makes people vote for trump. Because he talks about this. Like social media mobs the cancel culture in all these things and i was kind of laughing about how this experience would make her into a trump voter over the course of our conversation. I said yeah. I'm voting for trump this summer on. I never thought i would have done that for years ago. And she was like wait. A second you are and i forgot that. She doesn't follow me on social media. She doesn't know. Sort of where i fall and i said yeah my buddy for trump and she was like oh i am too. I mailed ballots in weeks ago. And she's a friend of mine and we were having an hour long conversation and it was only after i told her that i was voting for president trump that she admitted that she was as well. And so we finished texting. And i looked at my husband and i said the polls were wrong. If this woman who i've known for five years didn't feel comfortable telling me who she was voting for until i told her there's no way we'll no much was made that there were fewer undecided voters in this year's polls but also sounds like what you're saying is that there was even smaller number because those who said they were undecided or at least some of them voted for trump right or they were lying and they said they were voting for biden instead. I i think that that's definitely a possibility as well. Okay now why would they have said president biden. What been the reasoning there. That's the safe answer in this. Cancel culture environment that you know voting for vice. President biden was stackable incorrect dancer. But i think that I think that a lot of people probably unfit apply. I'm curious if you've gotten any feedback from people who read your column and said how dare you call us liars absolutely. Not every single person understood. Even i as someone who works in the media until the eleventh hour did not want to say i was voting for president trump. Because i knew that every time he does something stupid from then on out people with throw that calm back in my face and say this is what you signed on for whatever reality. I'm like. I signed a deal with the devil and i knew i was signing a deal with the devil and i'm not not raw about him. I'm not maga- it's it's an unfortunate situation and it is what it is something that really frustrated me in the wake of biden's election was people sort of saying koumba. Let's all come together and we're were you three years ago. Where were you last year. Why didn't you speak up for the covington. Boys and pete buttigieg was one of the people who was saying it and your staffer. Literally making lists of trump administration employees to blacklist them and to strip them of their livelihood and i think people across the spectrum have different opinions of people who worked in the administration. I know a million of them and they understood the deal that the that the devil that they made to and they were trying to uniformly serve our country and to mediate. Trump's trump. Nece and i think they did a great job and i am appreciative of the work that they did in every single department they worked in and they made it possible for us to come out of the last four years. Fine we're fine as a country and pete bridges people. His former staff are making lists of all of these people and pitas coming out. And saying you know. Let's all come together. I'm like okay. Put your money where your mouth is and publicly denounced what your staff are doing. Where is that being reported. I don't know where it's being reported. It's called the trump accountability project. And if you google it. I'm sure only conservative media are covering it because that's how it is. They had a website called trump accountability project. And it's time for people to put their money where their mouth is a little bit on this and no one is and michelle. Obama tweeted something the other day. That was you know. Half of americans who voted for him are x y. You know the whole litany of and this is not. I don't know how you move forward. When that when the former first lady is impugning the motives of half of the americans that voted for for trump. And you're not. You're not voting for racism. You're not voting for you. Know i think. I think that's a really simplistic way of looking at things. And it's also a really divisive and toxic way and if biden wants to actually move forward in a kun-bae off fashion say something about what michelle obama tweeted now. I want to reiterate what you said at the beginning. Bethany that this is just your theory. it's based on anecdotal evidence. There are many reasons why the polls might not have panned out this year. But let me ask you this. Not all pollsters work for media some work for politicians who are trying to assess what their constituents want. Do you think people understand that. Not being truthful about their preferences might undermine the whole democratic process. Do you believe that so. That's an interesting question. Because in some part it undermines the thesis of my piece because we saw that the internal polling that was done by campaigns was actually far superior to that of the media companies. And i think that people are more apt to trust a cloister that is not in the media because people don't trust the media dot readily and that distrust has been well earned by the media but the internals that we can gather that the biden campaign was getting told them to go to georgia and it seemed like a crazy idea and they were right to do so. So i i think that the internal polls that campaigns had were better than the media hat by. I don't think it undermines the democratic process because is not essential to the democratic process. It just it gives campaigns some idea of where they should be focusing and what their messaging should be but overall the democratic process is completely hinged upon votes. And that's really what counts at the end of the day well bethany. Thank you so much for. Your thoughts really intriguing thoughts. I really appreciate that. And i hope our listeners. Think about it i hope. I hope you've given them food for thought. Thanks

"covington" Discussed on Northern Kentucky Spotlight

"A lot of people when they come in they've either been walking around they've seen the site they've been sticking their head in kind of wondering what's going on when the shipping containers got put on site it really raised a lot of questions just to what is the space and frankly what we wanted this to be was that that space where everybody could come hang out have a drink grab a bite to eat talk to some friends wage act as a backyard atmosphere that a lot of people in Covington just don't have due to the site home sites and the nature of Covington's architecture. So when you come to coming to New York, you walk through a shipping container that was a one-time used shipping container from China and we repurposed it as our entry feature as you walk in. Then you see the artificial turf on site and we have multiple birth. Vendors that are available from lunch hours into the evening hours. Now those hours have been somewhat dynamic as we figure out the Kinks associated with operating a restaurant and a bar and a pandemic but our operating team on site has been able to kind of navigate some of those issues and they're starting to roll out lunch hours and the dinner has been consistent. Every time that The Yardbirds open. We have three food vendors open for dinner. That's Django tacos Yardbird chicken tenders and mr. Bulgogi Korean BBQ. We also have a fourth vendor that will be announcing soon that will open first week in November. So we're looking forward to having four different food options for people on a regular basis as well as being able to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere TVs music live bands that kind of thing, you know, this concept is new for Covington, but not new overall. This is you know, a lot of cities have been going to these kind of like outdoor Food Hall type situations. Yeah, and that's frankly we didn't come up with this idea. We certainly plagiarize dead. Other locations around the world. So we were just happy to be able to bring something unique and interesting into that Covington area to engage some of the vacant and blighted storefronts that we had in this this track season and it's gone over well so far people seem to enjoy the the socially distanced atmosphere that we're able to provide and we hope to continue that in the winter as we add heater in tenting options that will allow for people to still be able to be outside still be able to be socially distant but venture out and get some of that Community bonding that people are needing at this point. What's your goal? Where do you see Covington yard in the future? You know, hopefully we just have a consistent group of people that like to come here. They hang out and really treated their own backyard at the onset of this. We had intended to host birthday parties wedding events and different types of events that you would typically have at a large venue, but that wage Has been challenging in the pandemic. So we've not taken event requests. We are filing people's names so that if the pandemic does lift and were able to hold larger events we can kind of regroup on that that front page but what where we really hope to take this is to to be a staple for the Covington Northern Kentucky Greater Cincinnati community that you can come down and be the starting point or the editing point for your night out on the town. So our position located in between the new music venue across from the banks next to the the Braxton Hotel Covington area the main store Osteria, it really gives us the opportunity to be a strong point or ending points of people's nights as they go out and enjoy the town and dog friendly and family-friendly During certain hours as well. Absolutely. So the the turf that we installed is pet friendly Turf Club and you're welcome to bring your Pooch as long as long as they have leashes and they're well-behaved. Of course the same goes for the kids yet leashes and well-behaved with make sure of that so we know we look forward to it I had Young children myself and it's great to bring them here. You know, they have different food options. There's mocktails, even for the kids that they could have non-alcoholic drinks that they can experience team and they'll be different programming events. As we continue. The the opening will have different programming that's geared around the children and families as well. Excellent Josh. Thanks so much. And again one of the chamber's newest member, so we certainly want to introduce you to Covington yard. So check them out for different food vendors. And of course, I mean what place in Greater Cincinnati would be a place without a little bit of adult beverages as well. So that's the latest from here in Covington yard stick with is though the Northern Kentucky Spotlight will be right back your Northern Kentucky chamber saved you money. "Next Monday, that would be great. And st. Elizabeth they continued age. To innovate so they have the implanted the first device of its kind in the country. So this is really cool. And I'm going to try really hard not to mess this up cuz it's it's got all kinds of medical language. I like the mispronounced but it's they implanted the first bluetooth enabled part by ventricular defibrillator you go. There we go. Got it the new device just recently got FDA approval and the devices for risk of life-threatening heart rhythm problems and the communications with the pain patients and the doctors through an app. So it uses the Bluetooth just life. Your headphones are your airpods used to communicate with that phone so you can get the data like in real time that's amazing and and it makes it so much easier for the patient not to have to like a corded her call in and have them like find your your your device and all of that and also obviously helps those positions as well. I love this song cuz I don't know if you've seen the floor and she'll water tower recently It Off. Like are they painting over Florence? Y'all people who are freaked out the answer is yes, and no. Okay. So yes, they're they're painting over it but they're painting over it and it's going to look exactly the same but just better so it's basically getting a little makeover. Okay. So the city promises that's going to be back to its former glory don't you don't you fret they named the Florence y'all after that water tower. It's not going anywhere but mid-november. You should see it back in it. So are they change in the fight? Are they going to I don't know. What a great question. They I know from a designer perspective. I know it's a it's a very basic simple font and they, you know, looks like they tried to kind of cover up the what they used to say mall but they actually changed it but I mean it would pain me if if they changed it to like some kind of like script font, you know, it's Gotta Stay that bloggers asking is it going to look like the y'all's logo off then you're back to square one. The reason they couldn't put Florence Mall on it was because it was a business with y'all's is a business. So yeah it it'll probably I know it's a great question as a font person off. Like to know this we need to call me or Waylon and finds out. Oh, this is a great one for all the kids out. There. Scuba. Santa is coming back to Newport Aquarium. It's the 18th year scheme has been celebrating the holidays at the aquarium. He will be there everyday for from November 27th and every day through December 24th. Guess we'll be able to tell excuse me what they want for Christmas while he swims with the tank full of sharks. Everybody loves scuba Santa. It's just like one of those cool Northern Kentucky things like, you know, you can go see Santa scuba dive with sharks. Um, and there will be taking taking covid-19 precautions there. So the capacity is limited and you have to buy tickets in advance. So be sure to go to their website and check that out and get there and get all those those requests for Christmas. You got it. Exactly. That would be a perfect Christmas little activity. All right, Jeremy you have had a busy week or so and a couple more busy weeks to come. Let's get to that shame around up, So our last week we had our women's initiative Regional Summit sponsored by PNC. It is really really really great event that they do every year on this is the third year that they've done it off. They have Keynotes and they have some really great speakers and breakout sessions and some networking this year. Obviously we had to do it a little bit differently mainly completely virtual so we can't be in person. We can't have that many people in a room together. So we utilized a new platform called you let me events from one of our favorite podcast guests to me and it would it's a really cool technology it we had a little bumps beginning but we ironed everything out and had a really great event last week. We're we've got all the talks and stuff were recorded and captured so we can share it out to if you missed it off. We can still get those out to you. Then. Our next huge event coming up is our annual celebration. It was our annual dinner in September is moved to November 12th. It will be at lunch time. So, you know, we figure that since it's going to be virtual. We didn't want people spending time. You know, it's one thing to bring your wife out to a nice dinner or wife or husband or significant other or friends or business colleagues out to a really fancy nice dinner and big award show and spent a few hours at that, but we moved it to lunch time. So that way people can do it during the workday and we know that everyone's are not everyone but most people have something else going on. You've got the kids, right? You've got everything that goes along with this the craziness of the pandemic so we moved it to lunch time spot so you can register for that by off by Chambers, slash events and get get yourself registered. We have a free option where you can just attend the the Facebook live, but then we also have options for networking and then we have this really cool. Will option where you could support a restaurant locally a chamber member? Yeah, so you it's different tier levels instead of free for the one and it's about $15 for the networking and then like 40 for the with the restaurant and then that 20 that extra $25 go straight to that restaurant and then you get a a gift card. So then you can pay for your luggage for that event during that you're you're supporting a chamber member and it's it's really about giving back to the community trying to to help out some of these restaurants that have been really really hit hard by a pandemic and and it's going to get even worse for them as they have to move everything inside and close on our side as we get cold. Well, we look forward to that annual celebration and speaking of heading outside coming up. Not only are we going to hear from Covington yard, you are going to get a sneak peek a look inside Covington yard live an interview their site. It's gorgeous. Interesting. It's it's a really cool place and you're about to see it coming up. So stay with us on the Northern Kentucky spotlight. CVG airport is the lowest fare airport in the tri-state region with 54 non-stop flights and direct international service to 7 destinations including Paris France and now home to both DHL and Amazon's Global cargo hubs. You can learn more and start your next adventure package at cvgairport.com back to the Northern Kentucky Spotlight and I am in a place that if you have not yet been you gotta hit it is Covington yard down here on Greenup. Well coming in yardage the newest members of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and we decided to come down and talk to the folks here about this place and what you can expect if you haven't been there so Josh niederhelman is the principle of Cub core and he's also am from Covington yard. First of all, this place is amazing. You've got to be excited that it's finally open. Oh, absolutely. We're you know, we're really excited for the neighborhood. I live in the neighborhood and Covington and we're really looking forward to having not Their opportunity to to visit and come outside gather with the community, but the challenge was certainly the yeah. We are opening a community Gathering space in the middle of a pandemic. So this project actually start well before the pandemic and that was something that actually threw us a curve ball as the pandemic hit we had to figure out how to make things socially distant and how to accommodate the new rules and regulations to keep everybody safe choice. We look around here. There's lots of space to be had lots of room around and I know a lot of people feel very comfortable or more comfortable being outside than inside right. Now. How many can you accommodate and how the crowds been so far off? The crowds have been great and everybody's been really good about wearing masks and being socially distant majority of our space is outside. We can seat up to 165 under the current rules with having a seat for service pre pandemic were able to see four hundred fifty people capacity into the into the space. So it's not nearly at capacity. We hope obviously when the pandemic lifts that sometime in the spring home. We will be able to get back to normal and that way we'll be able to get a lot more people into experience Covington yard. Let's explain how this works because you've got individual food vendors and drinks and all that good stuff. Yeah. So.

It would be a strong fourth quarter. That proves to be the difference for Ella. LeBron James wind up having a huge first half 29 points, but the Lakers were actually trailing at the break. L. A would hold the Rockets to just 18 points in the third. Turning things up defensively, one of the best defensive teams all year that turned it up the Rockets to 22% shooting in the second half. There's another turnover. Anthony Davis, with the steal handed back to Gordon, Front left drives past LeBron layup blocked by James from behind LeBron James with a great block. Gordon thought he was buying me ran down from the back. Another block for James on a runner by harden LeBron James, with two monster blocks 54 Covington to Rivers Wing left us with a rim up on underway Blood by James and the stick that won't count. It comes after the red light was lit. And LeBron with three monster blocks in the corner. We're tied going before the difference in this one. It was a 64 point first half With rockets. Scored 33 points in the first quarter. 31 in the second But just 38 points total. In the second half of the Lakers. Clamping down on defense would also Their foot on the accelerator on offense. Morris swinging Rondo opened three Ling right, Got another one playoff. Rondo is here tonight in Game three. Four point lead for the Los Angeles Lakers. That's 12 points. Ferrando as a timeout is called by Mike D'Antoni governs and threw it away. Trying to find a friend on the left sideline. Rondo working right side before with Davis. Hi, Lobb. Davis caught way right off the jab. Step shoots for two and dropped it in 26 15 for Anthony Davis early, but it's a dagger a little bag. Now, with a minute to play Rondo around the angle Street left side of the room past the diving Kuzma catches and lays it in over the front iron and the Rockets have a look to him that they know they're probably done with under a minute to play, and the short answer would be Yes, The rockets were done at that point. The game was here on ESPN radio Lakers would close it out when it by 10 1 12 102 Lakers taking a 21 Siri's lead Lakers out of 21 to 8. Run. To start the fourth quarter after as we heard, the game was tied heading to the fourth LeBron James 162nd career playoff victory. That's the most all time he spoke with TNT, do what it takes to win both the defense and I know I say that a lot, but it was just the truth. My teammates looks for me to do a little bit of everything, and tonight was another opportunity for me to help and I was happy. I was able to come through for us tonight. LeBron at another milestone to your resume, passing Derek Fisher becoming the NBA's all time leader in a playoff wins. I know you have said time and time again, you'll reflect on those milestones later. To play at the level you're playing at and achieve that milestone in your 17. What does that say about what we're trying to accomplish? It says that I played with a lot of great teams says that I played a lot of great teammates made some great coaches in Cleveland in Miami and now here in Los Angeles, you don't get those wins without teammates so on the coaching staff prepares and do all the preparation Behind the scenes video coordinators. The guys will help rebound the basketballs force assistant coaches that trainers the athletic staff on its own. So it doesn't happen without the support of castes. And it's why I'm able to stay here with this achievement. But it's all about the three organizations. I've been with calves, the heat and not the Lakers. Because without them, I wouldn't be in this position. Speaking of the way you're supporting cast played tonight. Defensively, particularly in that second half. What did you guys find that allowed you to lock into Rockets offense. We know in the first half going into halftime that we didn't play our best. Defensively. We allowed him to get into the lane. Without contest. We allowed him to hit some threes. What I'll contest are rotations was slow. So when we went to the locker room, we watch some film. And we had conversation right away on what we can do in the second half to get better and be better, and we was able to transfer it into the second round. Last thing I'll ask you about. I know Coach Vogel keeps on telling us That he was going to use the memory of Kobe Bryant to fuel this playoff run and continue to talk to the team about it. How have you channeled that to motivate you through this run through the postseason in this most unique environment? Then today, we just so we make him and his family proud, and that's all it's about anybody's ever step foot and put on the Lakers jersey we hoped would make them proud as well. From Kobe all the way down to everybody's ever played in Los Angeles have been a part of Los Angeles Lakers organization. That's what we're trying to do. It means the tradition here and it's our responsibility when loser draw toe hold out without most responsibility and utmost respect, and, you know, doctor Dr Buss will want as well. Loser draw. This one turned out to be a win for the Lakers by 10. They take a 21 Siri's lead, LeBron finishing with 36 points, 29 of which came in the first half. You heard him touch on the defensive adjustments that the Lakers made at halftime. As well. Then they came out and turned up the intensity on the defensive end Lakers finishing with six blocks Houston had one came from Russell Westbrook late in the game,

UFC featherweight champ defends title in split decision

"I Will Fight Island was officially christened tonight for the UFC in Abu. Dhabi there was no baptism to be had in the main event of UFC two fifty one. What's going on everybody? Welcome to the official. You have to fifty one post fight. Show here on, May, finding dot com I'm Mike Heck location this week from Boston Massachusetts visiting the parents this weekend. That is Jose Jose. Main Event Kamara, who's been retains a welterweight title against Whore Mazal. Challenger looked pretty darn good in that first round. I'm pretty surprised that judges gave in that first round, but it was the much fresher champion that was able to sort of chip away at the always game, or hey mazda throughout the fire Ab. Fresher champion but Komo. Zeman was basically been in camps since beginning of this year, despite was like Ben Booked and booked in both supposed to fight earlier this by giving burns, and also muzzle steps in, so yes, he's finally fresher because he he's had the full camp and everything but I think Kamara wasn't one hundred percent in that fight, either considering this long extended, Feick at Ala, similar to twenty Ferguson with all these these these fights falling apart, but Kamara who's been one nonetheless, might not have been the most exciting fight. I saw a couple of tweets complaining about the fight and I really take that. I felt it was a lot of fans that were on this very muzzle hype train. He's on the video game cover on this baptism round the resurrection Super Necessary Punches bef tile, and that they were expecting violence, even mice I myself said fight between WHO's minimize well probably has a higher chance of ending in a violent way, but it did not come out who's been one I had them winning all five rounds the first round I guess. Didn't really matter to me. Who won that? I still come who's been what at least four of the rounds comfortably? The people complain about. The foot stopped the wrestling the headbutts. That stuff will come out. Who's been did what he had to do to win. That's exactly why I thought he would. Take, her might as well because all the time Mazal taking this fight on short notice. Kamara also took this fire. On short notice gets an extra a completely different fighter between Gilbert Burns as well. It's completely rechange leftist camp Had his new trevor wittman is corn for the first time fighting the guy all this bad blood is in the air all the pressures on him, and perform a like we ourselves, said all the pressures on who's Madonna not not a whole lot on Mazal, but at the end of the day. Who's been doing what he had to do? I didn't have a problem with the way fought. Might not have been the most exciting, but if I was going to pick up, predict away whose men would pull this off. This is exactly how I thought he would do it. Yeah, when you get a fight like this and you have a guy as hot as MAS. Bat brings in a lot of the casual fan base. Does your watch? As many events as we watch, and some of the hardcore fans watch everything so most people expected this fight to go exactly that way I thought the first row was going to be the most interesting round, obviously, because of Mazda was going to get it done. He's probably going to have to do it in the first five minutes, and this is the fire. We got like Mara. Who's been defends his title. For the second time. It was another classic who's been like performance and he gets a one-sided win and highly anticipated main event so in the end. We like to talk about the overall letter grade, but it felt like just kind of looking at the time slot when we're all said and done. We're getting ready to hit record here. We're just like man this is this is super late like I feel like the card and the whole night in a weird way. Wet Kinda slow did it not. started off really really quickly. Might just. Like I feel like the first few flew by and all of a sudden I had been watching fights for two and a half three hours and I'm like wow, this fight is cars going quickly I like this pace, and then we the main card and Amanda he boss comes in, and just submits patriots immediately i. wish went exactly as I expected, but then there was decision with Rosen on drugs, and then even Yawn Aldo finish, but it was in the fifth round, so there's still basically fought for twenty five minutes, and then we get twenty five minutes, Vulcanology Holloway and then we get twenty five minutes of in Mazda, also of these we've seen. We saw that graphic on the screen like. All the cards are three title fights, and like we used to fourteen had like Woodley Maya in Jones, a cormet and Cyborg Abinger, and then to seventeen to five those had some bangers like like two to seventeen had three epic fights three like violent, like just three of the craziest finishes you'll see. And then, of course to a five, the CONOR McGregor show, and then to seventeen had the DC Jones trilogy, so I think we're a little maybe. We'll. We'll spoiled on these three. These three title fight cars while we're expecting something like that and I loved all all great fights off spectacular fights, but I think a lot of fans are tuning in to see fight island. In the Mazar strain, all these title-fights might have been. A limited. I could see why they might have been little disappointed. I didn't have a problem with it, but probably was the night Dana White wanted in terms of finishes. Yeah, the main event may have disappointed some people but for. The Sake, this is like the best thing that could have happened for the welterweight division like if you're burns. Edwards these guys are pretty happy right now. Especially Gilbert Burns. One hundred percent I mean we. We set it on count after it was on what the heck or or post eyesore produce. All kind of blend together at this point in the summer, but we. We said if Moslem Dole wins. That's going to be a problem for the US's pockets the welterweight division I mean. We were talking about him fighting the bringing the both belts so that the Conor McGregor. The table and all this. Kamara who's been one and it's? It's a no brainer that Gobert burn gets three matches. Suppose he should've been fighting tonight. before covid nineteen October, nineteen. That's applaud the car, so yeah, for all the way division, and the the the martial art fans of the world that don't like quote unquote. Holding divisions I think that's a good thing, but I. Honestly I love chaos at Moscow had one I. Think I, think it would have been fun time in the world of May. And Mazda all. Let's be clear. We all know this. He was the a side heading into this fight. He's the reason. There was a lot of buzz and a lot of fanfare when you had a guy like game bread in the street that he's on. That's what happens, but a lot of people wanNA know where he goes from here. Because despite losing the fight tonight, he still has a ton of options moving forward. Chaos can still rain in some way Jose. Can you say that again? You cut off quick second. Chaos can rain. For horny Mas at all got about it because he's got so many options moving forward despite the loss tonight. Yeah, I mean Hoy Mazdas. All I'm Kamara. WHO's been himself set like he's GonNa. He's like. He's like he's GonNa. Lose all these like excuses. Bill didn't talk the finance days notice flu costs. The country doesn't have was coach in the gym, covert nineteen this and that so like I. Don't think I of course I think Mazda obviously cooled anytime. You lose. You cool a little bit Conor McGregor and Nadir's, and it's such an insane finish that they run it back, and you have another epic fight like that, but for Mazda all you're obviously going to a little bit but he himself said. Let me, get a couple of wins and they'll run back. I'm sure he want. He would love to five full camp but the Colby College. Is there I? Think that is going to drum up a whole lot of interest I. think people might even be more interested in that fight in the dynamic between those two fires, oarsmen and I think that Kobe Covington already Moslems? Fight does not need a title online. That's just two guys. They hate each other I wanNA break brick on each other's faces. WHO'S MCCANN? Fight Gillard. Leeann, Edwards of course out there, wonder boy thompsons, working his way up Santana, positive I think has covered to so he somewhere out there, so the welterweight division will move, but for now Mazda all. Of course cooled, but he's still I think still the hottest commodity hundred seventy pounds.

Do you know this Ray with a lot of the stuff I talk with nutrition and training is I, would love to actually move to a place while we don't think about it so much, and it's less mental energy, but more just habit based that for it to become a habit. Explaining the Michael Flynn controversy

"City every thing that we have been saying we're now going on three plus years is now true there is a miscarriage of justice they set up general Flynn we now have hand written notes to prove it where do we stand and your thoughts what we have even more evidence now Sean than we had yesterday we did a new filing at about one o'clock this afternoon with a report from the FBI that completely exonerated planets of January fourth of any sort of Russia problem and repeats in multiple ways that they had checked all the government files on him the FBI files the DA files probably ASCII files all those those two were redacted and found no derogatory information on him whatsoever so then we learned a task a confidential informant against them from the other information I have another that staff and helpers and he's a total slimeball but was running an operation against when I'm probably through the office of net assessment James Baker colonel James Baker in the department of defense with his handler and we think banker that they could not be at the operator but the defense department Baker is the one who had the connection that allowed him to get the transcript of the Kinsley act calls that he then probably leaked to his friend David Ignatius there been recent disclosures of how cozy their relationship was which was inappropriate for more reasons than one and we've just got more and more evidence of the strong page text messages hell struck at the instructions of seven four went back in which means the upper echelon of the FBI Comey and McCabe went back in and kept the following general Flynn from being closed he references their own incompetence and realizing that the file has been closed even though it was supposed to be on so they started all over again and start making up the attempt for the Logan act delegations and set up the interview now as I read these hand written notes and and new information that has come out potential questions for DD's call explain what that is this is from struck that son an email from strong before McCabe is going to place the call to swing on the day of the interview that Comey was talking and bragging about his little speech on national January twenty fourth four days into the trump administration and McCabe now general Flynn it's been widely reported ask or do I need a lawyer anything in Andrew McCabe lied to him did he not and deny him his Miranda rights well actually technically Maranda doesn't apply in the non custodial setting but what they always do is at least mention of one thousand one possibility the false statement possibility and what that means that they have plans and schemes by other information we have not even do that with general Flynn there emails yesterday produced that recommended that they do that and note that they always do that at least mention it in an interview and they decided here because it was planned not to mention it at all they schemes and plans and met at length about it to decide to keep him relaxed and unguarded and then I would not have their and what wouldn't a White House council of as well what is the nature of this then again improper process was and protocol what is the nature of the discussion with general Flynn and if they had the Telemus about an investigation into planned and Russia well that point the White House counsel would say will red flags general Flynn they probably would have told you probably need a lawyer that would have happened now in that and then these other you know hand written notes what is our goal now why would any FBI agent ever have to ask the question because the goal should be truth the goal should be justice they say then it goes on truth admission R. or to get him to lie get him we're trying to get him to do something or and then it's so so we can then prosecute him or get him fired well that sounds like a perjury trap but I'm not the smart lawyer that you are Sydney about one that was obviously written obviously their goal and that's even more apparent in the text messages of Strzok and page and others that came out in the production today where they also talk about using a defensive briefing as a pretext to talk to him they're trying to figure out a way to talk to him in such a way that he doesn't know he's being interviewed so they could try to trap him or make something up against him and they wound up having to just make it up and we learn more in today's production also about how Mr Strzok did massive added to the original agents three oh two and was trying very hard to keep that other agents employees in the report despite his significant changes to it and was talking to Lisa page about that she was fussing with him that helps lobbyists work was on it all right I'm I want to get John Solomon here in here in a second but Sydney what we now knows that this was a set up that they knew ahead of time that they had put this case to rest they resurrected it for political purposes we know even earlier and and the attorney general's confirm this that in fact when we've confirmed it that it was premeditated fraud on the FISA court because they will warn John Solomon will address this in a minute and that is they will warn that the dirty dossier that Hillary paid for should not be trusted it was political in nature it's unverified and my and that Christopher Steele has an agenda numerous times but they took the unverified later we find out unverifiable odd dirty Russian dossier that even apparently the Russians knew was going to Hillary Clinton which brings up a whole new story likely Russian disinformation even The New York toilet paper times got that was used as the foundation for all four FISA warrants totally debunked at this point they never even tried to verify it and then they took away Carter page's civil liberties and constitutional rights they spied on a candidate a transition team and deep into the presidency of Donald Trump those last words are Attorney General bars are and then we have other issues involving helper and Joseph miss foot in Brandon and and clapper which I assume at some point will be addressed to hear Sydney but here's what happened they denied that we now know that general Flynn is even a bigger hero don't week that what we have been saying on this program and thank god for you because you've got the crap beat out of you all a lot you work your your you know what off offered no money for the most part pro bono and donations from generous people thank god because this guy went bankrupt and he fell on the sword to save his son is not true Sidney Powell yes yes the generosity of the American people has kept our litigation going in his defense and we've learned that there was a secret side deal of course but generally they have promised not to indict his son but the judge didn't know it and we found documentary evidence only recently that Covington and Burling as per our lawyers and the prosecutor Mr van crack it made this a secret side deal deliberately to avoid that Mr Bannon cracks obligation to produce that exculpatory or impeachment information to any future defendant that they wanted general Flynn to testify against so it was another example of them cracked deliberately trying to hide the ball of exculpatory evidence and believe that the same time we on at the same time the judge did not note that the plea was coerced at and the plea was course because they said well we didn't think ally but you're going to admit to lying rose we're going after your son which that is prosecutorial abuse to I don't want to keep John Solomon out of this discussion John you've brought amazing work here and you have a lot of updates we have to listen today's documents that should be forced into the public I think really bring to light the deliberate nature of what was going on here the normal process for the F. B. I. was taking its course they looked at general plan they decided he wasn't a Russian asset he posed no threat he should be okay to be the national security adviser and then this is a more right from their notes the seventh floor of the FBI got involved the seven floors James Comey and Andrew McCabe and they stop the closure of the files the they were gonna treats when the right way and just give me a defensive briefing I move on and they put a stop to it and then they can talk this interview and you

Meet Our Junk Bond

"Okay so listeners. You might remember that back around the holidays we the indicator jumped into the bond market. Yes we did. We bought a bond turned out though. You know bonds are really expensive so we had to buy. We bought the very cheapest blonde. We could find still by the way cost. Two hundred eighty seven dollars and we had to buy two of them so the total came out about six hundred dollars so for a COUPLA podcasters now not cheap not cheap but the cheapest that we could find and it was what is known as a junk bond so bonds are basically loans when companies want to borrow money. One of the ways they can do that is to issue. Bonds investors can buy those bonds and eventually get paid back along with some interest but just how much interest is bonds. Pay Largely depends on the company itself so if a company has a lot of cash on hand and not much debt. And it's just a really safe company. Then lending that company money or buying one of its bonds because it's the same thing is just considered a really safe investment take Microsoft it's bonds are rated AAA that is the highest possible rating. So they don't have to pay a very high interest rate or yield so if you bought a Microsoft Bond Right now one that matured or paid out next year you would make about one point three percent on your investment not very much money but that is because those bonds are considered so safe. Yeah then there's the bond we bought not so save different. Yeah it's a company called Hornbeck offshore services which supplies equipment and logistical support oil companies when they drill for oil in ocean. If we hold this bond until it expires next year we would make a hundred and forty six percent return on our money. That's a big if though. Hey risk pays baby. Yes a lot of risks. Though I was walking down the streets and you said we hornbeck and audibly gasped clear. Boston covers the bond market for Bloomberg. Hornbeck is an extremely risky company. I spent a lot of time looking at these companies. And you guys didn't just pick a higher quality junk bond. A higher quality which had clear says the junk bond market is a pretty big and varied place and not al junk bonds are created equal. So there are three basic tears. We mentioned company. Credit Ratings. Triple A. Aa SINGLE-A TRIPLE-B CETERA. These are all desirable ratings for a company. These are so called investment grade ratings. It's a lot like a person's credit rating if you're below triple B though you're now in junk bond territory like our bond. The FIRST YEAR IS DOUBLE B. That is what we would call a p high quality drunk No one is worried about them. Not being able to pay back their bonds for instance some of Ford Motors bonds are in that category also. Jc Penney and twitter in a record number of US companies are issuing junk bonds. Now Clara says companies started barring unprecedented amounts of money and using it to buy up other companies and to expand their operations and do all kinds of things. And why not? The money's cheap but all that debt will bring your credit rating down and that's why so many big stable companies are in the junk category right now and then sort of the biggest part of the junk market is sort of a single be rain so call it the middle you know and so that's kind of what people consider to be traditional junk so you know a little riskier companies like Bethlehem. Steel Revlon Uber. A lot of companies. That are still considered to be solid companies. Just maybe having some cash flow problems and then the lowest here is triple c That's where we bought. Tell me about this lowest here These are companies that definitely you could think about potentially running into trouble and not being able to pay their obligations back like maybe going bankrupt or something like even in the best of times. Investors are a little wary of really loading entrepeneur triple seat DOT hornbeck offshore services is in that lowest. That's where we invested Hornbeck. The company is based in Covington Louisiana. A little city right near the Gulf Coast Hornbeck was founded in nineteen ninety seven by Todd Hornbeck and he is still the company's CEO. Hornbeck has about a thousand employees and it owns a fleet of boats that it hires out to supply people and equipment to offshore drilling sites.

NBA championship odds: Lakers still lead pack despite quiet trade deadline; Clippers improve chances

"Did you make of the two teams? How do you feel about them currently? Wow Oh well I I I I stand by. I think the clippers have long time then the favorites. I think the way that the Lakers have played This season and how they've consistently consistently performed Dwight Howard has been a pleasant surprise. I think Kyle Kuzma with the injury to start off the season. He he hasn't really gun the things that they would like. These are very good contributor. But I think that the clippers with all the management and and Paul George Missing Time and some Injuries and you look at where they are there. Second Right now and for me. I think that the clippers are the best team right are they. Are the team that come at at the end of the day you're going to have to go through in order to try and win a championship. Even though the Lakers have the best record and it looks like the Lakers are GonNa have home court At at this point in time if it were to start today I still feel like you know the clippers. The team that you're GONNA have to be in order to win the whole thing Richard. How all surprising that? The rockets decided to go full monty. There Bison not only are we gonNA run small lineups. We won't even carry a gun on the roster who would allow us to run any sort of other type lineups. Well it's a at this point in time. If you look at Dantonio you look at Dell Maury winter. We've we've had they not gone all in on whatever they believe right. What do they have to lose? They've been criticized up and down and make pulled off some pretty impressive trade getting in Chris. Paul getting in Russell Westbrook. They've done some really really good things to pair With with James Harden James Harden continuingly improved his offense of game. But it's like I'm not surprised anymore. It's like they look at their team. And they're like the way we're structured right now. We're probably up for a first or second round loss What can we do to really shocked at? How can we try and change things up? And they made them moved. ooh They believed that adding Covington and giving up Cappella and they just WanNa go all small ball kind of like what you would see from the Golden State Warriors for for a time So I'm not surprised by it. I think that you know everyone out. There is fighting for their job. I think Daryl Morey I think I think You look at Dan Tony think these guys are low key fighting for their jobs so if they know that first or second round loss possibly could be the end to their tenure. So why not try and go all whatever you believe. Richard Jefferson hanging out with this year. Makes you check them out today. Five o'clock Indiana Toronto. ESPN mean is also in studio with us as well by the way. You're listening to Los Angeles. So Richard Let me ask you this about what Brian said yesterday specifically in regards to that game like he he kind of talked about their lack of focus on defense. Where do you think the Lakers can get better on defense? Can they do it. Internally you have again you have some talented players and I. I always proceed very cautiously when you have a game like that and everyone wants to run and talk about it and break it down like look Russell. Westbrook had a great great game. Houston shot the ball extremely well if you send shot the ball like that against anybody on any given night. They're going to win that game Even Dan Tony said in his interview. He's like hey I understand what we're doing is different It all has to do with whether or not these guys will buy in and tonight was a big step that they would have gone out and got him blasted in a D had forty five right an twenty six against them. Everybody in that Houston Rocket Locker. Room would be questioning. What's what's going on? They would be getting murdered by the media. It would be going crazy but they were fortunate to get that win in La which very hard place to play and now. Everyone's questioning the Lakers. Well look I believe this. I believe that the Lakers are great regular season team. I think that last night they should've stayed with the White Howard. You can't Anthony Davis if there's a difference between being like having your numbers be dominant and actually being dominant and physically dominant. Anthony Davis just. Wasn't that Anthony. Davis Davis is not an again. I hate to talk about. What player isn't because he is a million great in every anybody would want them on their team but he's not a guy that just going to low post blocks doc band you up and then go and shoot a five-foot Hook shot and don't because he worked position that's why he runs the floor so well so he can get that early early post up in a great position and it's harder to guard but in the postseason when it becomes half court basketball? That's what the Houston Rockets are depending on when it becomes a half half halfcourt basketball game and they can spread it out and just have Russell James go to work and kick it out to more shooters so everyone had their theory. It's just a matter of WHO's going to be able to impose their will Richard One of the things that That's happening for the Lakers. This year is that when Lebron plays the offense is is tremendous right there. They're one of the best offensive teams out there. But when he doesn't play when he's not on the floor I should say that offense becomes very anemic even when Anthony Davis was an. MVP candidate in his own right is on the floor. And it reminded me of the years in In Cleveland the three years that Love Irving and and Lebron were together. When Lebron didn't play that team wasn't just not a great team not wasn't just a below five hundred they were awful and given that you've been on the inside you've been on a Lebron James Team? Can you explain to me how that is. How talented players? Once you remove this one guy turned into a bad basketball team. I think it's it's style of play. It's continuity I think that's something that it's it's weird because Lebron James is always you typically been healthy. She's always played in seventy five or more games except for last year due to the groin injury. So it's like this is the guy that each up eighty ninety percent of like court time. So you're what what you're really referencing is like non-core time and even then comes the postseason. This is a man that's going to go from playing thirty seven minutes a night thirty eight. He's going to go up to like forty three forty four minutes a night. 'cause there's no bags and there's no practices for most of his energies just using games. So what you're really talking about is how do you play Good Basketball for eight to ten minutes in it for twelve minutes and that can be tough to find that continuity. It's tough because it's such a small sample size right and yes it's a small. It's a large sample size is when you look at how often it happens. But it's very very difficult for coaches to be like how we're GONNA play for this ten to twelve minutes when the broncos out of the game because when he's in the game everything's everything's perfect. Everything's runs great room and I think that's the challenge. The coaches have a lot of people are talking about Darren. Collison coming in and then interrogating him bats. That's the challenge and it's and it's been a long time. The bron James Challenge is how do we play that 'cause they had with Kyrie Kyrie is a great score but it's like when Bronco go out of the game game that was an opportunity for Kyrie to really explore and really play his game and get his rhythm will Kyrie's rhythm might not necessarily be the rhythm for the the other guys on the court and I thought knock on Kyrie. If just like broad had the ball handed Kyrie was basically a two guard. Then Kai Bronco Ga.. The game in Cairo would become the point guard. But this was an opportunity to get going scoring and maybe throw the ball into Kevin Love. which when you had the surrounding guys there wasn't an offense? There wasn't a continuity beauty for us to play through so there's good still Lebron and there's challenges to Lebron. I wouldn't even call that bad but I think this final stretch is going to be key but understand. He's going to play more minutes in the postseason. So you can't really say like hey we need to figure out what we're GONNA do when he's out of the game because that's just realistically he's going to be in the game Ormeau. Richard Jefferson with this year on the Sodano show on ESPN. This actually leads perfectly into my next question. This is good chemistry right here. These three guys. So Rondo they have Rondo. Problem is a net negative player. He's been that for seven seasons now but to a means point it falls off a cliff. He's usually usually the guy that has to lead that second unit. I don't think they can afford to play him anymore. To be honest with you what do you do if you do agree with me. What do you do with Ronda how do you how do you manage? Rondo at this point Well I I think there's there's two components there's an on the court and then there's a locker room right. There's a locker component and it's like a like say what you want about Rondo. He's a very dynamic guy on and off the court so you WanNa make sure that Rondo understands what your is your team goals are. I think Rondo is in a very different space. And he was years and years ago whether it was in Dallas when I played with them or leaving Boston I think Rondos one of those guys that in this moment right here they need to find. I I think that's Darren Collison being. It's so big the need to find one more guy that can compliment that second unit And so yes do but you gotta look at what can you do. He's a net negative guy adding Rondo very very rare. But no one really questions Kenney still play is he's still a contributor when you're just looking at the second unit and when I tell you that the six years prior that's one thing this year I I mentioned it early.

Westbrook’s 41 Help Small Ball Rockets Best Lakers

"The other game. I wanted to address COVINGTON. I said made his debut debut. The pocket rocket. So last the Lakers one. twenty-one one eleven so the the first real experiment with the extremely small ball with at least Covington in the mix so far success S. Westbrook at forty one and Bobby Cov- hit two clutch late threes. If fourteen points eight boards really really solid defensive numbers there as well. He's the hit nineteen eighteen threes overall. What did you think from this? Roy Is this. I mean this is fun. We like it because it's unique and it's wild to see and we said the Lakers would be one of those teams like I don't know if they're going to get killed inside well they didn't. I mean the League scored a bunch of points on the paint but on the boards was pretty even and the rockets. Also don't care if you're gonNA score outscored score them in pain 'cause they're like well we're GONNA outscore by thirty from the three point line. which is what they did in this game? It'll be fun to see if this can last. Yeah that's right. They get very impressive win because they came back late and Rub hit one of those threes. Like I think it was. Anthony Davis was right there in his face. He hit it so they win the game. He Hits shutouts working. We'll we need. We need a little bit more of a sample size to really see if it can hold up but good on Russell Westbrook again. I mean man. He's playing the only took two threes last night. One of them he he does seem to have actually been able to real that three point shooting in for this season Because in the past he's gotten sucked into that too shooting away hasn't been a great shooter. You still only shooting. I twenty four percent on the season. So he's realizing that's not my bag baby instead. He's finding otherwise and he's I mean. This is the best Russell. Westbrook broke when he's going inside and taking advantage of matchups where he can use his athleticism speed. So I mean he's he's worked himself into the All Star game two for his play over the last month or so Ah Honestly I believe that because early on it didn't look right and last night. He loves the big stage. He loves the Big Challenge. I love when Ross has it going. And he's feeling it a little bit. He starts barking at everybody at the crowd. It is fun when he's gone. He's feeling that you can see exactly watching this game. You can see exactly why. The rockets made made the trades they did they might have gotten dunked on nineteen times. But they're fun they may nineteen three. So that's an extra nineteen points right there. You GotTa Win The math. Clint Capellas not flipping flipping the math for the rockets. They're going all in on it. I've definitely thought it was hilarious. Seeing the clips from Mike Dantonio pre-game. We might be short. But we're stout James Harden he strong Air Gordon. You can guard begs. PJ Tucker who can guard begs than Anthony Davis one out and was like who cares that you guys are out here dunking every single time it was roast mode but but those are only towns. I think there's a couple of things to remember when you do go super small. Yeah you like you got to play hard all these young small guys. Excuse me sort of got got a box out and like bust their ass. Tucker's incredible and all that I love him. But the other thing you get from playing small is in a forty eight minute game in theory eerie in Syria if the other team are playing their bigs. They're not GONNA be able to sustain that effort over the course of the game and I thought you saw the Lakers look a little more tired as the game went on a little bit. Where the rockets being just the smaller guys more athletic guys are GONNA be able to sustain it in theory a little bit more? That's one thing the other thing though the big benefit over this like five game stretch here where they've gone super small gone pocket rocket they're forcing more turnovers. And that is huge. I mean last night. The rockets scored thirteen points on sixteen laker turnovers. And then the rocks. Okay you flip it while they gave up eleven second chance points on six acres offensive rebounds. But that's still you know. Do the math on that. That's still you're coming up positive. That's a plus too when you're looking at turnover your points and then we're small on the glass but it's okay. Those are the second chance points. And that's been the big difference. They're averaging The other team is like eighteen turnovers per game over this little run here with the Super Bowl small experiments. So that's a big positive and I think just again Covington going to help with that. There's no doubt about that. You know getting deflections and getting these steals lending westbrook go to either then attack or then here comes the you know the the second wave of three point shooters that you've got to try and get a body on Harden Gordon or Tucker in the corner or something like that so that that to me is the obviously too little positives of this going really small. I'm excited to see if it can continue in the regular season injure the playoff series.

"Soft soft. Yeah I mean that's really I mean you don't you don't have any kids now. No no kissing single. What are you going to do when you have kids in this environment? I think that's why I've been scared even have kids. It's just I don't want him to be raised like this. You know and grow up like this. And this you know this safe-space era where you know people it. Just they're soft you know they don't WanNa they don't WanNa stand up for what they believe in. They don't want to speak their mind what they think because they're scared of what other how other people judge him for what the what they think really should be. I agree or disagree. I could sit down with someone room right now. We could have a conversation even if you don't believe in what I'm wearing and you don't have the same opinion me. We still sit down. Have a chat and and talk about things is but that's not how the world is these days. It's a crazy world that that they're letting they're talking about normalizing things like gender changed but they wanted Demata or demonize Moniz things like the president or guns or rice right. I mean who actually under their new world under their new world order You and I can get into the ring together all you. Yeah produce you episode. Identify won't be covering self identifies as a woman and you would be allowed to me in a ring and they are calling that progress so aside from visiting the truth what do you do for you and your private time. You're on the dating ups Nominating hanging out and just have good stats where you'd have good stats on the dating scene. you know just just trying to not I'm committed committed to the grind and I love to work hard. Just you gotta earn the American dream you know and you know his starts every day from the morning I wake up. You know I'm thinking about how I can get better now. I can better myself and how it can make America better how you know I can make my craft better still just. It's everyday process and I believe in my process at trust the process and and I'm just working hard I wanna I wanNA make everybody that believes in me in that is on my side like the trumps are on my side. Troops are on my side. I will make them Mohapi. WanNa make them proud. You know just like the trump's there they can't even go to a normal sporting event. They can't go sit ha a half court in a basketball game 'cause Lebron COMP and trying to attack him of course he went attack them if I was there the they can't even have a normal sporting experience. Because you know I mean people hate him so much so it you know that's that that gives me so much. Joy is to be able to give them a normal reporting experience where they can come out and watch me fine and have a good time and hang out and just enjoy themselves. You know them personally. What are they like very humble very very real people like they're not what the media makes him out to be? They're not these people that yet. They have tons of money but they don't act like they're just regular people you know. They're they're good husbands. They're good dads and me. I see they brought their kids out to the thing and I see the way. Their kids are very well mannered in good good race children just like super good kids. I had such a great time with them. And they're just normal people you know they treat you like normal people. They don't act like they're better than you and they just they're down to Earth they're humble you know in and that's why I respect them so much because you know some these tablets like an NFL NBA upon outlawed athletes. They act like they're on a pedestal. Like they're better than people because they have fame and they have money and they have title. That's not how the trumps are. They act like regular people no better than the janitor in the building right and I think that that's sort of what they hit at in the heart of America wishes people that were feeling like a bunch of elitist were deciding for the rest of America you know and and like we were too good to fly over states you know and I say that almost as an attack on myself because I used to think that that I was so educating I I was born in New York so I could born on the coast I never saw the rest of America so my reality was simply New York City and Little Stanford Connecticut where I grew up. And your for some reason you think that the rest of America is like behind and dumb and uneducated all those stereotypes what the south is right. And you think that you have it right in your so educated because you go to school. Can you understand the way that things should be. And you understand the plight of black Americans and pick another ism the plight of women And then I you know gratefully for me. I had an awakening and I realized wait a second. I've always been conservative. I believe in hard work. I don't believe in handouts and I find the argument that we should be giving handouts to be it undermined mind individuals. It takes away the spirit of what it means to humanity what humanity actually is. The human spirit wants to fight wants it wants to champion it. Wants is to tell that story of I was making five hundred dollars. It was my last fight like the glory of that. That's what People WanNa take away when you talk when you're talking about socialism right. You're talking about taking that away saying we're all going to be the exact same everyday. Why why get up right? Why what about now? You worked all everything that you have now is because because you worked one of I just like hey come goes to this guy. He hasn't done anything soap that in. Yeah it's crazy. They're giving participation trophies left and right these days it really are. Are you optimistic or pessimistic. About the future I'm optimistic. I think that I think they were going into the right direction. You know look at unemployment. You know it's the lowest has been since the sixties or economy's booming. You know the troops are doing well. We have you know America's the American and dream is alive and well and I think that I think this is going to continue to thrive in and people that WanNa work in our for or work in earn it. You know they're going to get whatever they want to get out of life and I have to ask you this question just because you are so feared what is your biggest fear of spiders. Wow so already just went into my brain. That's crazy ridiculous snake. Kansas snakes snakes issue really remember member no I grew up in Oregon and like out. We see Gar Garner snakes and run out screaming alums like corners. They don't even bite the little things you know. How do you know vaguely vaguely gardener? Snake the same way that with rats. There's something about rats I don't care. Don't tell me that they're not scary. They're scary. It's the way they like skedaddle. Data is the way they skedaddle like squirrels. Everyone's getting around the bushy tailed allegations allegations of ood. What am I afraid of? You know what I used to be afraid of flying got over that because now I travel five five days a week. I'm not afraid of too much but I really. I don't like rats and I I really am. I'm fearful of like the the masculinity thing really gets going like as I see it and I'm not saying to be jokey like we're breeding different men here like they're really wimpy that wearing shirts that say feminism is for everybody there Vegan. I'm singers anything wrong. If you are Vegan. I'm just saying that it is like there's just a lot of weird stuff happening right now and it's something to pay attention to but I'm optimistic about it because we're here we're talking about this. We've got this amazing belt between us. So nobody's GonNa mess. EPISODE WILL NOT GET TROLLED S. Right we wrap every every episode by allowing you to leave a message for the world so if there's one thing that you want to inspire everyone to do right what is your what would be your call to Action Colby Covington so he's GonNa put the two minutes on the clock. "If you know what you're watching insane to watch but rob law is not really a guy that breaks like that for you to come up with a game plan land and i'm sure you guys together eighteen because he was there for a while so and they know how strong mentally robbie lawler is. I felt in the fight. That rob is waiting for you to get tired. You can see he was just waiting to explode second round. He's tied third all right. Let's do fourth-round dude and then it just you just kept coming so he could never really get it off that big shot and what people don't realize what i did to robbie lawler like there's no fluke about that you can land that fluke five second knockout or you can land a fluke overhand punch punch. "From three last season. It's a league average number. However, his five hundred fifty three point attempts last year. We're good for eighth in the NBA. And it's two hundred and three makes for good for eleventh. The benefits of a prolific three point shooter. Can't be quantified. Just in the number of their makes in reality. Their attempts are equally valuable big time three point shooters have gravity to them on offense that attracts defenders to them. It allows for the court to be open for the other four players without covington's three point shooting things like that. Things would be incredibly tougher on the rest of the offense and everybody else on the court by pulling his defender twenty five feet from the basket. He opens up driving lanes persimmons and creates less opportunities to cheat. And double team Joel Embiid and just touch on the percentage really quickly because I know you won't be people down with that his shooting was well above average prior to breaking his hand in December. And that was an injury he played through. I know you give him crap for playing through it crap for being tough. But that did require surgery this off season. Obviously affected is shooting in the second half. Defensively. Simply put Covington is one of the top and most versatile defenders in the NBA today. He did struggle in the playoffs. I'm going to concede that. He struggled against Jayson Tatum in the Boston, Celtics. And I'd like to remind you that he was playing with a broken hand. I'd encourage you to think about trying to garden of the NBA score without the full use of both hands. That's that can't be done. He was fourth in the NBA in steals per game in sixteen seventeen ninth in the NBA last season while blocking just around the shot a game Covington roofs rewarded for all that by. I e mold offensive honors last season received six votes for defensive player of the year this past year. At six hundred guard numerous positions since quite simply one of the most valuable defenders in the NBA today. All right. I'm going to let you sneak in that little extra time here. Here's my thing. His. The offensive side of the ball is something that I will never concede. I've conceded defense. I've given that to you. But you brought it up in your argument. Those playoffs were atrocious. His play broken hand or not. And if he broke it, what did we say December is when he broke it. Right. Okay. So you're talking January February March April, that's when you're talking about late April early may when the NBA playoffs really kick into gear if the broken hand was such an issue. Why aren't we getting it repaired your you'll have the access to professional medical staffs, the best doctors in the world, the NBA that's something that you need to go in and get taken care of. And I know you're going to say, well, listen he doesn't want to lose a spot on this team. And he's not going to if he's highly regarded as you think I don't think that that's the way it would work. You do more of a disservice by playing with that if you're not going to be at your highest level and everybody plays with and cuts and dings and bruises and. Twisted knees and things like that. It's just ridiculous. There's no way that was two minutes. It was that's closing. Oh, no. It's not. It's not about me off ridiculous. This is ridiculous. Listen, Robert Covington was the twenty first ranked small forward the qualified for three point percentage in the NBA. He was number ten in get this out of my way number ten in overall field goal percentage. I'll give him that. That's that's a quality added to the to the lineup, but his primary objective is to shoot three pointers when you're making them thirty six percent. You cannot tell me that he's that integral on offense. You just can't do it for two point percentage. The guy's not even in the top thirty of starting qualified small floor. It's it's just unreal. The praise he gets for being a mediocre shooter. And that's what he is. Okay. First of all apologies. You're one hundred percent, correct. Get two minutes there. That's an old Christopher. "Now, here's the man who's been recognized is way Dios best the recipient of not one, but two Christina's Marconi awards for his broadcast excellence, the one and only Bill Cunningham Cunningham, the great American with you now to talk about what's happening. The last two or three days really what I got in preparation for tonight show earlier today and yesterday, I thought, you know, we're gonna talk about BuzzFeed fake news run talk about how in the world can an organization like BuzzFeed outright lies and watching some of the coverage of bind stealth serve CNN is a clown this morning. It looked as if they're sticking with lies, even though the party. They're talking about saying that Robert Muller's investigation what they're saying is false. It's ally. As kind of like, the white star lines the day after the Titanic sank to say, we still have information that the Titanic did not sink. Well, the Titanic sunk. Buzzfeed lied CNN manipulated those lies along with the mainstream. Needed to make it look as if the president was about to be impeached on it when he was not about to be impeached. And then the Covington Catholic high school story broke from Saturday all hell broke loose. And as you may know, I break has to you live every Sunday night from Cincinnati, Ohio, which is across the river from Covington Kentucky, I was born in Covington. And I'm a Catholic. I did not go to cub cath as it's called the kernels. But I have great affection and great feelings about the great kids who've come out of cub cath. So I was shocked to hear about this diatribe starting on Saturday that a young man named Nick Sandman, and I would not use the name of a seventeen year old teenage boy, unless it's almost with his permission because when I check NBC ABC CNN drudge report his name is all over the place because about eight o'clock eastern time. What about two hours ago, he gave us a statement about what happened at the Lincoln Memorial on Friday? He's spoken as the one was so called the media says a smirk on his face. So according to the media accounts, why mail Catholic pro-life mega mega hat, wearing conservatives shouted down shouted racial epithets and slurs and mocked in Indian native American at on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial whose name is Nathan Phillips allegedly. That's what the media wants. And the media wants that diatribe why because it fits their narrative, doesn't it it fits what the media likes the report, which is evil by white Americans who are male and toxic who are Catholic who are pro-life and support Trump. I mean to a liberal check the boxes we're going after him. It doesn't make any difference. What they did facts be damned we're going after him. And so for the last one to two days, Covington Catholic arch. Diocese under the horrible lousy leadership, a Bishop voice and America Covington a guy named Meyer who I don't know. But his liberal Democrat spent it's time playing into the diatribe that something is wrong with Cobb. Something is wrong with the boys. They're something's horrific. Something's gonna miss that. They're abusive toward blacks and indigenous Americans, etc. In fact, Bishop voice who by the way is a clown. And I know he's a clown is leading the pack to separate himself from the main school in the archdiocese has Covington Catholic because they believed the media accounts. Of what happened on Friday? Let me go back in time. About two hundred and thirteen boys. I guess them or their parents paid one hundred twenty five dollars each to take a bus ride beginning early. I said early Friday morning because of the right to life rally in Washington. It's about an eight hour bus trip from here where I am to Washington about eight hours and eight ours back. So these boys spent sixteen hours, I said sixteen hours in a bus. So they went to the right to life rally, of course, not covered by the mainstream media, and they had an agreement to meet up at five thirty in front of the Lincoln Memorial on the steps. That's where the buses is gonna come and pick up two hundred thirteen students. Great majority are white. There was some black kids in the group. So they did some sightseeing after the right to life rally around the around the mall, and then they met on the steps of Lincoln Memorial as they're standing around waiting for the bus to come a group of black Israelites. And they gotta be totally confused. Black Israelites began shouting. Racial epithets and other things at the Covington Catholic students, including including a couple of black kids who are freshmen a cub cath and these black Israelites saying we're going to harvest your organs. We're going to harvest your organs. Sandman said the student seventeen year old whose so called the one responsible said this evening quote. I have no idea. What that insult means? But it was startling to hear it. He then Sammy gets a hold of a teacher one of the chaperones and said, why don't we start chanting summer of cheers to drown out. These African American black Israelites who are saying horrible things about us, including the and bomb to the black fourteen year old including saying things like racial entitlement, including shouting things school shooter school shooter. And so the cub can't students many of whom in a group called the the the Colonel crazies, the nickname is have catheters the colonels began chanting a lot of their phrases. That's all right. That's okay. We're going to win today. They did other cheers to drown out the racial epithets from the for American radical liberal group. Well, this was going on Nathan Phillips. And his band of indigenous Americans were present, and he started pounding drum. So the boys have Kanthi are great kids. I've spoken a Cup cath. I know that school if you know, a good private Catholic high school in Los Angeles or Austin or Tampa or Chicago or Boston, you know, cub cath good kids talk cost about ten thousand dollars to get in going to take a test. Extremely religious all those kinds of things. And is what Coventry Covington Catholic is everything that Roman Catholic secondary education wants to be in this Sandman kid is simply fabulous is like on the dean's list. He's a great kid. He's a junior. So he says to the to the Proctor to the monitor to one of the teachers with them. Hey, let's chance some of the some of the things we say in the chair section. So they did that that caused one Nathan Philip who superficial agitator on path of native Americans. To to go into the crowd of copycat students two hundred and thirteen of them waiting for like eight buses and that occurred the seas pardon. The cub cat students simply stepped aside and Nathan Phillips whether span and Mary men in the drums pounding the drums walked up and ages picked out a kid it happened to be Sandman whose name I would not use whatsoever. Except for the fact that Nick has given a written statement about two hours ago stood in front of him and impounded, a drum chanting, something and native American language next Sandman statement said I didn't know what to do I stood there. And I simply looked at him. And he looked at me, and he kept pounding the drum at some point he turned around and some of the kids saying quit sharing. Let's get outta here. At some point more epithets were hurled at these Catholic boys, including school shooter school shooter talking about them being gay using the F word that refers to a homosexual all these racial sexual epithets were hurled at the students the teachers of Kathy were there. About eight eight to ten of them on the bus trip, saying just don't respond to them. We have to stay here. Because the is pulling up the buses are pulling up the pick us up. So we can't like walk away because the buses are going to be here for the eight hour trip back after it was all said and done. They simply got on the bus and one home the Adar trip. The not a right back in Cincinnati to one or two AM, and the parents paid to do it. They had no idea that they had done anything wrong. The teachers did know it the students did know it. But then the mainstream media the fake news outlets. The buzzfeed's of this world, the Nathan Phillips the professional broad for professional. Protesters got together and wanted to make this an issue. Why white male Catholic pro-life wherein mega hats? That's all. Then, you know. So the media ran. With the story that was blatantly ally as much of a lie as what BuzzFeed did to our president that calls Robert Muller for the first time ever to issue. A statement saying that news report about Trump telling his attorney to lie before congress is ally and still BuzzFeed will not admit part of the mainstream media. It's a lie. Everything you think, you know, about that incident is ally. And I'm holding this statement in front of me from Nick salmon, a great kid at Covington Catholic who has lousy leadership the Bishop of Covington guy named foist F O Y S through his own students under the bus, the mayor of Covington my home city guy named Joe Meyer through the kids under the bus to make. They believed everything that was being said, they believed everything being said about their own students and. Never ever asked them. Exactly what happened. It's what occurred. Why? So the school issues statements under the leadership of Bishop voice that these kids may be expelled punishment is coming the mayor of Covington a city of about seventy five thousand people across the river from Cincinnati issued a horrible statement talking about the racist behavior of copycat students all of which was a bald face unmitigated lie. It did not happen. It was all fake news. At this point word is Covington Catholic and Nick Sandman, a seventeen year old brilliant, kid, go back to get his reputation. None of it happened. They didn't Chen anything racist. In fact, they were the victims of racism and other horrible chanting of the black Israelites some liberal group that attends itself to conservative rally should try to create an incident and the native American group headed up by this Nathan Phillips character who are professional protesters. What they do is look for conservative groups that get together to appear with their silly, ask cameras to spark or caused them to respond to what they're doing Nathan Phillips is a professional protester. And he's got exactly what he wanted the mainstream media put for lies about these boys because of their color because of their gender because. Had their religion, and because of their life beliefs, and the fact they appear to support Donald J Trump. So the media ran with the line now tonight as I sit here about eighteen minutes after ten o'clock eastern time. Even NBC news has said young man in DC March video denounces outright lies about him. The media is slowly turning. If you look at Breitbart. Critics pushback against media reports Covington Catholic high school students racist toward native American drummer. So now the truth is coming out. And in fact, those responsible for the incident, which was words shouted words or exclusively Nathan Phillips and the black Israelites, they're the ones who use racial epithets. They're the ones who used racist language and these cub cath boys were so brave and so strong. And so resolute that this healthy stood there listened did not respond got on the bus and came home. Sadly extremely sadly, the Bishop of Covington and the mayor of Covington. Oh, cub Kath and these boys a serious serious apology. Because when one reads what they said about these boys that has no relationship to reality. Let's continue can you see? Why it happened? It happened. For one reason it's about Catholicism Christianity, pro-life and Trump and the media saw a clear opportunity to attack to attack those elements of these boys live to make them miserable. And now, guess what? These boys are getting death threats. The parents of Nick Sandman a Cup cath getting death threats Kathy Griffin. And other Hollywood comedians are urging those to commit violence against these young men these boys because of the early media accounts had no relationship to reality. Sadly, Bishop voice the Bishop of Covington and the mayor of Covington Joe Meyer has exacerbated these difficulties by lying about what happened not knowing. What happened? And now they're gonna do a backpedal kind of like a defensive back for the patriots. By the way, just beat the Kansas City Chiefs. So let's continue with more. Wow. Flying becomes available. One eight six six six four seven seven three three seven. And now.

"Well as my guest david covington explains there were need to be changes at the individual provider and systemic levels and the first change is that individual providers in healthcare systems would need to believe that suicides are preventable in other words they would all need to agree on the goal of zero suicide so why should social workers care about zero suicide well zero suicide fits social work values zero suicide can only happen in a culture where people are encouraged to reach for the moon that is no suicide but are not punished for falling short and this is an idea boots referred to as just culture and you'll hear david talk about it and it comes from the henry ford health systems perfect depression care initiative so zero suicide can't happen without social workers rights social workers provide more mental health services than all other professions combined social workers are team players and zero suicide is inherently interprofessional social workers are advocates in one have healthcare organisations use best practices but those best practices haven't been developed with diverse racial and ethnic groups or or don't take into account complex medical or trauma histories what if zero suicide means that healthcare organizations have to spend more on training and staffing and who's going to advocate for consumers if those costs are then passed along to consumers rather than investors social workers have a professional responsibility to be involved in those conversations social workers are trained to identify and respond issues at the practice that's the micro and the policy that's the macro level and we'll guess what zero suicide is like the holy grail of micro macro integration it requires coordinated changes in values beliefs and practices at the provider an system level and david's also going to talk more about this during the interview but in plain english with this means is that as a social worker i have to believe that suicide is preventable knowhow to assess intervene and coordinate care and trust that might organization we'll have my back.
