Emmys 2020: Who won big at the first virtual ceremony
"Emmy's happened last night. The last couple days I want to say like through last week, there was some of the you know, technical Emmys and Creative arts Emmys and they've all been I've been seeing like the results of those, but these were the actual Actors and actresses and shows and You know the hole, but it was It was virtual, right? Yes. So every I think that they They actually put a show together to do the Emmys. Um But the other ones that I think we're just getting. I'm sure there was some kind of ceremony on zoom or something. But I don't know that those ones were televised. They might have been. No, I mean, look, I didn't I Maybe you mentioned it. Maybe I read. Maybe I didn't. It was a shock to me at whatever time nine o'clock last night when I started seeing the news roll through, and I was like Emmys. You talked about it a little remember? It was, you know, because Jimmy Kimmel was hosting and so there was some talk, but I play police. Li forgot about it and the whole thing so I didn't see one second of it. Oh, yeah, no. And, frankly, these days because of you, Khun DVR things I'd never sit and watch things in real time anyway, so Because who wants us in just to put the others on When I organize S O. The big winner last night is Schmidt's Creek. It's not the name of the show, but right The clothes. They were saying it on TV because I did see a clip after that. They were saying the word, but I don't want you don't want no trouble with you. Just don't I considered it. You know, it spells have pointed out that every time they say it, they had to put the actual words upon these people can read it with. Oh, right. You see, It's not what you think There's an extra tea and they've thrown at sea in there, okay? So I'm just gonna say Schmidt's creek because I'm with you. You know, whatever. I just guess Monday's gonna be hard enough, right? Yeah. What's our theme? We don't want to. We don't want no trouble. That's right. I keep forgetting the better. That's our theme. Well, since I should write that down here, put it up with all my little, you know, daily affirmations. So the Emmys was virtual And Schmidt's Creek swept in all this is it's actually quite amazing because it has never won an Emmy in any other season. Currently they're grand total of Emmy's up till this season when they took him all zero. It doesn't It seems to be a show that we used to have a million of them. And not that, you know. Ahh, that name in particular is obviously means that's a cable show, right? I mean, it's just It's not your Big four or whatever. But it's just a sitcom, and it's fun and it's and it's not that You could miss it, and you wouldn't care. But you could also sit down and watch four episodes on any given night and be like, Wow, that was light. It was easy is their thread that you follow along with? Yes, it's the family that has moved. Uh, I won't tell you the whole story. But yes, there's a story behind Why they're in this motel and Right off super rich. It's only that I find a just a life. Oh, poor things. Is that a Netflix show? It doesn't even say here. Oh, yeah, It's a Netflix. Yeah. So they won nine Emmys for their sixth and final season, including best comedy Siri's. It's a new record for most wins in a single season for a single comedy. Marvellous. Mrs. Mazel had had the record. They said it in 2018 with eight and then they got eight more in 2019. And I don't know if this means that Mrs Mazel was just completely shut out. Oh, end because all the comedy awards seemed to have gone to Schmidt's Creek. The cast swept the acting categories, and that's the first time a comedy Siri's has done that Eugene Levy and Catharine O'Hara won best actor and actress and Daniel Levy and Annie Murphy, one supporting actor and actress. And they're saying here that's never happened. So congratulations to them. Daniel Levy also set a record for most wins for an individual in a seat in a single season with four because he also got trophies for writing and directing and Best comedy Siri's because he's a producer. So he actually technically that four Just for himself personally. Zero m. He's heading into the night. They never had any kind of incredible. But I guess you know, with my cell dominating in the last couple of seasons would be hard for anyone to rack up any numbers. They also set a record last night at the Emmys for most wins by black actors, including Regina King and Yaya Abdul Mateen. Ah, The second for watchman. Ouzo Duba for Mrs America. And Zendaya for euphoria. She's also the youngest Emmy winner in this category. Outstanding lead actress for drama. Stop me. If you have pulled any audio for any of these things in particular, I pulled some furs and die a winning it Isa from Oakland, apparently which is why we wanted to make sure we've got her on. So here she is reacting. Yeah, it is her reacting and she says a couple of things, but just there's there's a party behind her. So I know that I just want to say thank you to the TV academy to all the other incredible women in this category. I I admire you all so much. This is, um Oh, this is pretty crazy. Didn't really crying, Okay? I know this feels like a really weird time to be celebrating. But I just want to see that there is hope in the young people out there. I know that our TV show doesn't always feel like a great example of that. But there is hope in the other people, and I just want to say to all my peers out there doing the work in the streets. I see you. I'm are you I Thank you. And yeah, thank you so, so much. Um, this is thank you. And, of course, is through zoom. So right. Well, everyone was zooming in S O. She's the youngest any award winner for outstanding lead Actress for drama. So congratulations, Twos and Dia. And I guess I assumed that that party was happening in Oakland flatter know about that, But I do know she's she's pretty accomplished for such a young lady heard she's stars in Great America, the greatest showman Ohio. I want to say the great American hero. I don't know what she's in the great American. Ah, SOS and Dia. Congratulations to her. Eddie Murphy and Maya Rudolph one for Saturday Night Live, I guess for guest appearances and Ron Cephas Jones for this is us Eso Black actors Big night of record for most wins by black actors at the Emmys last night. The ceremony itself was obviously very different. Jimmy Kimmel hosted in an empty arena. Tried to fool us with crowd reactions from past ceremonies. Was anyone some of that? Yeah, sure. I'll watch a little of that. Oh watchmen. Also what Jerry Falwell Jr was into Flashing people appreciating and there's a flash of him in the audience. Then how much hilarious here that would mean that no one is in the audience. That would mean that I'm a lump here all alone. You'll see them. They turn the lights up. Just of course I'm here all alone. Of course. We don't have an audience. This isn't a mag a rally. It's the Emmys. Instead of a live audience. We took a page from baseball tonight and we filled the seats with cardboard cutouts of the nominees. You can see we have. Regina King, Hugh Jackman, Jason Bateman. Wait a minute. Go back one. Jason Patient, He's really hilarious. Yes, they did move. Mind your business Camel Big night for May. I know it's a big night but you can't be in here. We have very strict safety protocols. I'm clean guy. OK, I'm a big big washer upper always have been smell my hands like a garden. No, thank you. I'm sure you're clean. That's not the point. We just have a limit on how many people we can have in the building. So you really need to go? No, I don't. I don't. Okay. I haven't left the house for six months. Don't send me back there. I want to be here. This isn't a ritzy You know, I mean, I wantto eat shrimp with the cast of the crown. All right, I'm gonna want Mario Lopez asked me about my pants. Let's go. We don't have any friends that you could stay as long as you promise to laugh at my jokes. I'm out. I'm gonna call the car Loved Jason Bateman. Job. Good job s O. He reveals he's alone Except for Jason Bateman. Jimmy Kimmel. Continue with the show and some presenters did join him live. Jennifer Aniston was there. Did you grab that? I did here. Let me just pull that up. On the video. I said. I said, thanks, Jimmy. Other all across the stage from each other, Never, Never mind. It? Yes, I'd love some wine. No, I I said, Never mind. Oh, why are you standing all so far away from me, Dr Fauci said 60 ft. So 60 ft. No, isn't he said 6 Ft. Thank you. You also have sexy feet. Okay? Here, and that's it. Hilarious by the way. She then got in her extremely fast car lives right around the corner from there, and ah, she she made another appearance from her house later. So right? Yeah, but we're here. Oh, okay heads and there's Courtney Cox, Courtney's there. Of course I'm here. We live together. You do know there's a lag. Yeah, We've been roommates since 1994. But I don't know is it is this live TV? Both of you very well done. It's super cute. But the awkward, you know, three seconds of science, retired ruins everything before it does. We're very well acquainted with the awkward three seconds of silence, ruining everything. That is the life we're living right now. Anyway. Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox and Lisa could row whether she just jetted home after 60 ft. Away appearance on the show the awards, though, as they handed these out So I'm not sure how exactly this happened. If only the people who were actually getting the awards had people in has Matt suits outside their homes. No, it seems that Ah, they had everybody on standby like you'd have somebody in front of your house and has been with the award, but you might not win. So that way, everybody still kind of Were they holding? Just like a box. So you didn't know if there was any in it or not. Or that there were things that they were popping out of boxes, too. And that no one boxes that seemed really mean That was a really when I think, John Oliver, go when I have that mean here and you just pulled it up for you, too. Barrett. It pops open and there is it Pops open and and some confetti sprays out. Although that is right on the desk of his HBO set. Although I assume that that desk is in his garage, no, right. Cause that's where he's doing it from. So anyway. Nominees were all it remote locations, many in their own homes. Ah, they were doing the awards were delivered to those locations by people in has Matt suits, and they say someone had to be on hand for every so there was a guy hanging out in Has Matt suit whether you won or not, Some people actually took a visit. Do you have the Remmy use of dew? So this guy did not win in his category. Vinny and Ah, and there's the guy who has He's he's holding the little trophy. He's got the ones walking away having Oh, my God by you didn't win. All that's so sad, right? Well in some categories, all the nominees were given a box and then the winners boxwood Spring open and a hand holding the statue would pop out some They? Obviously a lot of people had to know that they did or didn't when I had a time. Other highlights her H e r her belt it out. Nothing compares to you. During the Emmys in Memoriam segment. Here's a little Since you've been gone ever. I can see whoever dinner in a fancy restaurant. Nothing can take away these blues. Come So she's playing piano, too. Way link that up with the Facebook page that people can see that isolated. Thank you. Ah, David Letterman got kicked out of an uber before presenting an award. I'm sure that wasn't set up. Celebrities revealed what they've been doing during the pandemic. Stop me if you have any of this stuff, Bernie Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington tried to skip 2020 skip to 2021 by ring in the New Year's Belle and her here. I watch Dave Letterman thing doesn't translate actually, wasn't it was? I don't know. It's the The New Year's party just wasn't I don't know It was well, you know, New Year's party with only two people is just not Doesn't feel New Year's Eve. They're saying The emotional highlight of the night was Tyler Perry's speech while accepting the governor's award. Um and then let me see if there's anything else here that I want to make sure that you I just have you have any questions about any categories Have all the categories here, I should, say Dave Chappelle, one for sticks and stones, best pre recorded variety special. Um, yeah, I don't have any questions, but I do. Look without trying to sound like I'm patting ourselves on the back because I'm not trying to do that. I give credit to anybody who's trying to do a show right now. Absolutely. It's a pain in the butt, and you'll see why they could absolutely see why they went through with it. But I could also see if they said not this year, everyone where does it go ahead? Mail you your prize and Here's the announcement work and that and the example the best example of it is that three The five second lag between the friends and less like Jesus. What is that? That's that's live. That's national TV. That's international TV right now. Well, that's you know, that's the world. We're living in pin, right? Everything sucks. The best variety sketch. Siri's went to Saturday night live and actually have a little bit of news about that. The full cast from last year is coming back this year. Usually there are at least some changes, and there were rumors that Kay McKinnon was going to leave. And she's got a career outside of this, but season 46 is starting October 3rd. And it's coming back to Rockefeller Center studio for the first time since the shutdown. They are going toe put all kinds of safety protocols in place, but it looks like we're going to get actual I'm sure will be no audience. But it will be live apparently, and that will happen there at their normal studio. So they say. The last time there was no caste turnover between seasons was 07 when the 33rd season began with the ensemble intact, So everybody who you liked last year and everybody who didn't like last year We'll be back. That season 46 in playing Joe Biden. On Saturday night Live will be Jim Carrey. Oh, wow, really adding a big name to play one of the candidates. Ah, it looks like You know, they're saying it's gonna happen Ah for the for the debut, but they're basically safe in the 46 season, which debuts October 3rd. I I I'm guessing that he's sort of signed on to participate this whole season. There's going to be a lot of Biden this season. So maybe they said we, you know, and we'll pay you and we'll put you up and you could be alone. Fancy shmancy penthouse in New York City. So they are adding three new featured players to their cast. They'll have a limited studio audience for the coming season, but it's going to it's going to happen. And Jim Carey is I'm looking at a side by side of the two of them with a little make up, I think Kind of like, I think his teeth are going to work. I think it's going to work October. 3rd is when the new season starts, and we'll get to see how Jim Carey does plan Joe Biden's I Love So It doesn't matter to me before you a break, sir. Here are the 2020 Emmy Awards highlights
"So much nowadays traditional Glam, gathering of the EMMYS was shrunk down to a virtual version. This year, the winners had to dial in from their sofas but did to scale down show remove any of the fun while I'm joined by the phone critic Karen Cranach from welcome back Karen. Now, Jimmy Kimmel called this the pandemic. What was it like? You. Don't I was reading about the run up because of course, they had five days of the creative emmys, which was very interesting which covered documentarian sports things like that. We don't really get to see those its role waiting for the television ones television on comedy and they're all saying, oh, it's can be terrible to glitches and there were absolutely no. Glitches at all the writing was sensitive national it probably would have worked alive, and in fact, what they were doing is they were cutting back into the audience of previous years. So at first we thought Kimmel was presented to reluctance of couldn't be, and then of course, we see that it's an empty staple center with cardboard cutouts except one person Jason Bateman. It worked really really well, and as you said, he called the Pan Denny's. You can't have virus without a host modest M.. It. Last year it was host free. So he's making a double point there isn't he? Will he is I mean there is a discussion for all the wards shows that you know do we really need a host to carry through to give a a link King presents between all of the awards and sometimes you need that sometimes you don't, but he's very, very good in this effect was. Nominated himself didn't win but for for this year. So he solid reacted really well, and particularly with Jennifer Aniston was was there in I'm assuming was a prerecorded, extra it live. Where he's burning one of the emmy envelopes to sanitize it, and if the fire gets out of control, she actually does put put. The. Fire. Out on stage. Tell US little bit more than about. Who won who lost how things went? Arguably, this was possibly our final reminder. Some was that it was a blissful reminder of our recent past, but people could still make television in the same room. I think we're we're all I. Think we're we're going to get nostalgic about these virtual awards shows really because they could do so much more with with a with a regular live show somebody sends in a prerecorded or televisual link you feel cheated. Now you feel that you've got more possibility because the people can actually record something or talk to you live. So it Kinda works really well, for example, before I go to the awards there was almost apprentice reunion lease a Jennifer Aniston Courtney Cox and Lisa kudrow showed up altogether and Jimmy Kimmel's going what are you doing together and he goes she goes well, we've Jennifer says. We've been living together since nineteen ninety four. It was just a lovely surprised wouldn't have been able to happen in real life. So it was great now. watchmen with the big re reimagined science fiction. Series was for twenty six nominations at one eleven including UN series. Star. Regina. King and also best limited series which is amazing and that helped push the HBO show to Thirty Wins in total, which is very important and also Shits Creek, of course, we have to put little tm on there because it's spelled S. C. H. W. T. s. did a sweep a to record for comedy shows of nine wins and it was yeah it's it's incredible. It's last is the final. Season for that show and it was wonderful to see all of our beloved. Canadian actors. That was a hugely hugely popular series it turned up on flicks. But it didn't start with nets, which is weird. Yes it has found that second life. Elsa Bell Rutland. Well, it was really pop TV and it just it got a cult following because. I mean, these I've been watching Catherine O'Hara Levy since the seventies I mean they were at second city which the rivals Saturday night live we've seen them in American pie everywhere. These are very, very good season actors and writers and the fact that they show up with this unique show on pop TV it just goes to show you that if something's good against audience people will see

The people who are in need the people who are finding it who find themselves without a home who find themselves without the basic necessities of life shelter, warm clothing, a place to stay when it's cold a place to be. Just they have children they have families. Some of them are alone. Some of them have dependencies on on substances, and that's part of the problem. But but many of them. No, they they they as many of them are working people. But I heard somebody say. We're we're we're raising money for people for who've who've gotten themselves into these situations who've gotten themselves into the situation. That's a terrible way to put it who've gotten themselves into this situation. That's. Oh, they have done it to themselves stuff happen. It's it could happen. That is not it who. Say they have solved they have found themselves into this situation. Maybe some of them willfully did it, but maybe they made mistakes. Maybe they did but many people through no fault of their own find themselves in these situations. Takes a couple of unfortunate things happening at around the same time, you lose your job and someone in your family has a medical problem. Those two things happening at once. That's all it would take your car breaks down. So you can't get to work, and they need our money to fix your car. It's just so subtle things though. I hear this guy say, yeah, these people have gotten themselves into this situation. It's up to go. No, no, no, don't say that don't say that say, we're here to help people who for whatever reason have found find who have found themselves in this situation. I don't care. It doesn't matter. Why they are. They're cold and hungry themselves into this situation. And here we are the big heroes. And a lot of them are little kids. Okay. They didn't get themselves into any. Now. A lot of them are little kids. I just read something. And you know, you bring up the kids that makes things difficult for the parents too. Because if you talk about the things, I mentioned, maybe you lose your job. Maybe there's a medical problem. Maybe your car breaks down. But childcare is a huge problem. You can't find someone to watch your kids. So you can't go to it's, you know, it's a subtle thing. Judgment. It's a judgement. He was making. Judgment, and it's a subtle. It's a subtle thing. And he didn't even think about it. He was making a judgment, and and and people subtly received that and go. Yeah, I think you should go in during the just punch him in the snoring during the commercial break. I will hold his arms back and you can punch him. I know who you're talk-. Why don't you punch him? With your words. I probably ought to just go back and say, you probably don't realize what you said, that's probably what you should say. You don't realize what you said. But he comes across and people people don't even think about what you said. But it's it's a subtle thing that they take in. And they think people they get themselves situation. You're right. Don't say.

"But now, you're dumb. It's just dome. It drives me nuts. And you know, you don't have to be smart to not be dumb. Yeah. True. Speaking of dumb. Oh my God. I don't know. If you saw it seems like you had a busy weekend. So you probably have been see I was really off line. I missed a lot of things yet. Did you catch? Why David or was trending? I think I know this tell me the story. Remind me the ex husband of Courtney Cox and actor David Arquette is a huge wrestling fan and decided to take part in a death match. Wrestling fight death match. Wrestling is not like WWE. It's most often than not not even a broadcast on TV that to my knowledge, it's you know, in bars, or this is like real time fight clogs xactly. So I from the video I saw looked like it was in some place in downtown LA, like not a big place or anything like that. And they were fighting with fluorescent light tubes. And breaking them on each other. Stuff those are cancerous that and they cut they chard, and they could get in your eyes. He ended up getting I think I think that they're still a script for these. But maybe there was an accident that happened or the other guy went off script or something happened where he like really cut himself badly and was bleeding profusely. I was concerned that you know, a big chunk of glass went in his throat. I mean, that's he kept touching himself there. So the question is, you know? If you're a guy that does that and you have kids like he does is that irresponsible of you. Yes. Okay. I agree responsible for anybody to do first of all your grownup. You're fifty years old. Really? You got to go to a fight club's still. This is what you've resorted to come on grow up ridiculous. He's still alive. And so that's the plus speaking of fight twelve on my gosh. This is so exciting for me again is alia and that cash ame- outside girl. I did see this got into it at a fashion Nova party of all places, I was supposed to go to that party. I I would have gone. I didn't know about. It was for the what the launch of Cardi B's clothing line and a couple of people from my station went, and I don't know I wanted to have dinner I'd things going on. So I didn't go facet Nova. You suck fashioned Noga should've been vited. May I figured you would be there. I would have totally been there. But I didn't get by. I didn't know it was opening and I don't even like going out during the week, but I would have gone out for that. Because I want to really make Cardi B. I've not met her yet. So the cash out side girl pulled a Cardi B Artemis home party. I'm sure she had every intention of causing drama before she even got there percent and it worked so who even cares the reasons or whatnot, but to break, there was no reason there was get attention for self. That was a reason. Yes. Although she did come up with some bullshit reasons. The cost the cash outside girl claimed that Iggy azalea was talking shit about her online, and then tried to be her friend at the party allegedly. And then the funny thing is that allegedly the cash me outside girl got kicked out of the party. And then Iggy azalea claims that she got the CEO of fashion nobo- to disassociate themselves from her apparently the cash girl had some kind of partnership with fashion Nova. But I don't know if that's true. Because today the cash out side girl posted something about thanking fashion Noga for always supporting her even though she's crazy. Which I'm glad because had fashion Nova dropped the cash outside girl if I was catch me outside girl. I would've made a big to do publicly and been like, yo Cardi B you step in you need to champion me. And you need to make sure they don't drop me..

"You're reading the celebrity news from time to time occasionally, you'll see a story or two or you can literally cannot believe you're reading the words that you're reading the daily occasionally happens where there's a number of those. And that's the case with these two stories never one to actors that I don't usually see a lot of headlines about Frankie Muniz you remember him from him in the middle. He's also currently hosting dancing with stars junior. Didn't know that. Yeah. And then David Arquette, former husband of Courtney Cox. Yeah. Apparently, he's not acting actively anymore. Okay. You know what he's doing? He's wrestling. What he's like a fighter. Apparently, he did this in the early two thousands. He competed in the world champion in WCW world championship wrestling, and he now nst recently that he was going to silence internet trolls by coming back to the independent wrestling circuit this year. Okay. He did just that over the weekend. That was so weird random, I agree. Well, a- turns out over the weekend. He. He wrestled a convicted Bank robber by the name of Nick gage. Okay. Quote, death match which was staged bout. Where they know you've seen wrestling matches before. Well, apparently among other things that happen to him in the ring his opponent used a pizza cutter and sliced his face in the hospital. Okay. So the thing I've always heard about wrestling is that it's fake. So you're telling me he actually did get sliced on the face. Yes. His face was sliced open when oh opponent was attacked him with the pizza cutter. Here's what I understand about. Wrestling took from what I understand. And trust me. I used to watch wrestling a lot as a child, I know that shocks you. And also I watched a couple of reality shows about wrestling. I think that like that there are pieces of it that are staged like the outcome is staged a lot of the stuff that happens in between is not always you mean the pizza cutter. Slicing the face, for example. Okay. That's just like a robe moment. Okay. So anyway, he was hospitalized fine. The okay, we don't know yet. I mean, he will be fine. But he was you know, he was treated in the hospital because of his because of his injury came out. Can I tell you what happened to Frankie Muniz? Yeah. What's he up to was he in wrestling? No. So his starts like in a in a sad place. He had gone to France. Because his uncle died. She had to go to a funeral. That internet self stat an awful, right? But then he came home he'd been gone for like a week. He came home to his five story Brownstone full-on. Why was his Brownstone flooded? His cat had turned on the water. Oh, no. They were gone, and it flooded their home, and he he kind of outlined all of it on Twitter. He said I arrived home from my uncle's funeral to find four of my five story Brownstone home under three feet of water. Oh my God. Everything I own is destroyed every wall every piece of artwork personal photos furniture, all because my cat accidentally turn on a sink a few days ago while we were gone. Okay. So how long was he gone for? He was gone for like. It looks like a week. He said I'm devastating exhausted from a tough week that anybody like check. That's actually a good point who was taking care of the cat. Yeah. I mean, the thing about cats is like they're pretty. First day, they can take care of themselves. But you got to feed them right feed. Add fresh water cleaner litterbox. Yeah. Where was the cat? And how was the cat staying dry? But yeah, his whole entire place was flying obviously was living. So Brownstone doesn't mean there were other apartments. He has the all like all five stories. It sounds like they had to move into a hotel, which once they moved into the hotel just to make matters worse. So they moved into the hotel because they had to manage the Brownstone. They moved into the hotel, and they had to evacuate after alarms in the hotel went off like it went from bad to worse to worse anyway. Well, that's crazy. I mean, usually when you know, very wealthy celebrities have issues, really, that's too bad. I mean think about all the people in California. And however, the fact that he was just coming back from like a family funeral. Although again, I would just go back to like maybe have somebody in your home while you're gone, especially if you have an animal there, right? Right. Right. And you can usually leave a cat overnight though overnight. But but for like a week long enough. Thanks to fly me, or I guess it's possible that there was somebody coming in. And that this just happened in a day. But I don't know. How does that happen though? You know, what I that's what I keep thinking is the cat turns on a faucet. How do you do that much damage to four stories of a house in a day with one sing with one faucet? I don't know. But I felt bad for him. Nonetheless. You know? So we've got David Arquette in the hospital after taking your pizza cutter to the face. Well, for Frankie Muniz we had. Turns out as compared to these two. I know I know we use. So if you think you had a bad weekend, I feel better. You don't have a pizza cutter in your thing. So just feel better about your general life choices that you're not getting sliced with a pizza cutter. Exactly. I mean any day. Without a pizza cutter. In the face is a good day pizza attached to the pizza cutter. I just want the pizza in the face when we come back. We've got celebrities behaving badly we call him D bags on the Colleen and Bradley show. We're going to tell you about him after this.

Wherever you find your favorite podcasts. But of course, the key ingredient here, Adam Corolla ace, how are you? I'm doing well excited because Dillon has done his due diligence Dylan Jalen, and we're talking last week about the friends and how we talk about famous Cox men and guys with Arias and the guys that bed at all the ladies in the usual, George Clooney's in the Scott Bao's, and all these names kind of come up. But as a group, male and female who's done more damage in this town of Hollywood, I say you can't do better than the cast of friends. I know it's a sad statement. But I think I mean just based on you know, who they are. Well, Jennifer Aniston like just on the female side is famously been with a bunch of fairness gender agnostic here. Right. You're not talking about Cox men properly. We're talking about those who've bedded many period, I'm talking about Courtney Jackson. Carrie by the glasses applauding you like that one so much. So I told Dylan to sorta treat it like, the, you know, the tree of life to kind of figure out like when they do the family trees and the coaching pyramids. Like, you you talk about like who's done what with whom and how it broke down. And boy this thing just keeps going over here. All right. So here we go the friends cast men. I mean, I had a hunch that that was the real ringer. It's not Jennifer Aniston or Courtney. Cox nee it's Chandler being himself. Matthew Perry who's done the most damage in the in the business show woodenness seen that one coming? I had a hunch because I've heard tale of him running around town. He's he's out in about periodically. All right. So we start with Jennifer Aniston famously Adam dirt's Counting Crows, but also Courtney Cox, and again, no better show to watch and syndication for an dirt's, then friends. Right agreed that and they've shared lovers too. That's that's they're still friends. I don't know about that. I can't imagine if you and I had shared a lover how that might impact our relationship. I've taken many lovers over the years. We'll say take in many. You know, what I found in my life, as you know, I like to use the outdated colloquialisms it allows you more room, you can tell if you talk dirty if you if you were baldly blue, and you're using the wrong language, if you talk like you're from the fifties, you get away with more. So I've taken many lovers, and I've introduced many abetted and taking many lovers. Also, introduced many my lady friends the David. I love that. I hope I get to the station life one day where I can introduce someone as my lady friend because that means I'm significantly older and richer than anyone else at the table. It's also creepy old guys do this when they're with young women. They introduce them as their friends. This is a friend of mine. So yes, so Jennifer Aniston. And again, if you're Adam Durance is the light on the show from Counting Crows, you have to love sitting around watching when friends pops up, especially if one of your buddies it's like sitting on the sofa next year and having a beer, I Bank to then it goes, your friend the to go, which one of the two tens not the seven. I mean, obviously, it's unspoken I could have obviously if you got the two tents. You could have got seven I started with the two ten and then I moved on. So we got an second look at his number four on Aniston's A-List. Matthew perry. I had no idea. This just on set. Romance just in throw Tate. Donovan so Matthew Perry Brad Pitt. All right. So that's that's that's a good. Lot of range there to murderers row of Pena hit and throw or Dr handsome devils. Then you got weird is I was at a Kimmel like Christmas party or birthday parties. I've talked to this too for half an hour there were delight..

"Sometimes I wonder if we could get Courtney Cox, savannah, probably not. She did not like the notion of story happy now. Okay. So your father shares with your best Sundance road. Turns upside down a little bit or your first reaction is. Yeah. Well, I guess we should say my parent because it would be mistrial during them to call them my father, even though they were my father who was designated as. Right? And and you know, I think I had a lot of thoughts pop off in my head really quick. I mean, I of course was okay. I have my show like immediately. 'cause as somebody who is like kinda hitting my head on the glass ceiling of other people shows for ten fifteen years writing pilots never getting made. I was like, oh my God. This is my thing. This is it. So that's the embarrassing part. I thought about kind of the creative possibilities and on a sort of track at the same time. Of course, I'm thinking, I love you. I'm here for you. I wanna make sure I say the things that let you know that I know how vulnerable this moment is and that I'm on. So that's what I was consciously saying. I love you. I'm so proud of you for telling me all of those things. But yeah, it was a bit of like a light bulb kind of like a beat change a turning point in your inciting incident into his citing incident? Yeah, because I think I had had a lot of gender trouble over the years and it had been disguised as kind of like feminist rabble-rousing like, why can't women do this? Why can't I do that? And I didn't, of course, think of myself as non binary or even, you know, in any way trans at that moment. But I did think. This is a key. This is a key Inco. There's a, there's there's a door that I'm going to be able to open and I'm going to go through it and. Bunch of new stuff is gonna is gonna kinda provided includes two maybe where you were going your life and did you at that time or shortly thereafter, come out yourself as transgenders that how you I now, I think because you did define yourself as that at one point, right or trans. Yes, yes. So that's sort of like the third or fourth step that I what was that first? The first step was. Boy, I am. Things are not as I thought, and I'd think for whatever reason in our family of origin. So my sister is a lesbian because she came out in her early twenties, and for whatever reason I just decided faiths the gay one, and I'm the straight one. I don't know why. And and how did your parents react to that? Totally fine. Totally cool. With faith. Upper middle class, intellectual Jewish family in Chicago. My parent is a psychiatrist. You know, liberal totally liberal childhood. If any family supposed to understand that that's the family, yes, gutter. So faith was like totally accepted by the family. And her lesbianism was applauded, occasionally announced to waiters. That's so she's a nice being all you know. So, yeah, no, yet allows ban. And so that was just the story lesbian awaiting that was just the story like face the gay wind, chills the straight one, and you know, so it went. And so I think..

Like the black barbershop to me, of course, is the best in terms of that? Yeah, this is kind of like hipster letting barbershops a lot of silence. Lot of just men being kinda quiet awkwardness. I think that it feels a little bit more like a meditation. Whereas like when I would go to the salon ended, but always be like the chick said, you'd be plans for the weekend and I'd be like, oh gosh, she wants to go join anywhere fun tonight. And I would have to talk about my emotions around getting my hair done and wanting to look pretty again, like this awkward feeling of like, I don't wanna talk. About my plans this weekend. So thank you just be non binary or annoyed or easily annoyed. So where were you at when you're which parent came out your my for the person who was assigned father. Got it. Yeah. So when your father came out, where were you at in your life at that? Sitting at the kitchen table, answering the telephone. I had just gotten a short film into Sundance. I just decided. So so tired of being was, what's his name? Asshole was Cox's. What's her name? Amazing tighter. What's her name's asshole. Jill Solloway with what's her name's acid. That would be good a little bit tighter fast. Yes, there's nothing better. Yeah, nothing more awkward than meeting Courtney Cox. Furlough after he got back Marty, very good. Okay. So short film I had made a short film. I had just found out that I was going to get to take it to Sundance very exciting. I remember feeling very much like how did you do this to me right now? I'm thinking about Sunday. Yeah, I had this like kind of selfish reaction, you feel? Did you feel well, this is interesting. Did you feel sabotage or did you? 'cause I think it's very interesting with parents talk about their personal lives. Children. It's very interesting thing. Some of it is, you know, children have a tough time, believing their parents or even people. Yeah, you know, you know, we put them in a certain place there. We kinda shield them. Yes, I do him. Yeah. And do you like try to protect them from your reality? No, it's interesting. Well, to some extent, you know, I'm divorced and so I didn't want them to be involved in all of that drama. You know, there's some that you can't help, you know, for the most part and both my wife and I felt the same way about this. He wanted to protect them from a lot of, I don't give them as good a child as you can in those situations. But I've always tried to speak to them very plainly and very directly, you know, really great conversations with them. You know, about a number of topics and both of them are interested in different things in the role, integral Wayne. So I've always tried to cheat them individually in that way, but I've never like exposed a lot of my personal things to them. 'cause I just felt out of place doing that, like. Like Mike and maybe it's because I got that a lot from from my mother on it felt like a burden to me like an unnecessary and I love my mom. Of course, I wanted to take care of her, but I was so young. I felt robbed of my childhood abuse, which makes sense. I'm in show biz I have my childhood twenty four seven. We're overall doing.
