Doug Welcomes Pete Hegseth to the Podcast

"It's my privilege to have Pete hex who is a good friend of mine. I got to know him over the years, so when I was time in Congress, working with him at Fox. And watching him just grow to be a very strong forceful voice for just American values, our military. He and our most share that military just, I'm 20 years in the air force. He's been military in his and he's wrote about that a great deal. But today we're going to get into not only a sort of both our backgrounds a little bit coming up through classical education and what that actually means, but also the attacks that have been coming up. And he has a new number one bestseller out on The New York Times Best Seller list, the battle for the American mind uprooting a century of miseducation. Pete, welcome to the Doug Collins podcast. Hey, congressman. Thanks for having me. I really appreciate it. We're glad. Before we get started into your book, sort of talk about, you know, how this evolved and you were talking offline about raising our kids and my kids are older years with younger. But you know, we both grew up in education and probably at the time we were going through it, didn't realize a lot of what you wrote about, but tell us about your background for those who might not be familiar with it. A 100% right. I mean, first of all, I consider myself a child of privilege because I had a mom and a dad and love me and a great community took me to church and taught me the basics. You know, that is the older you get, the more foundational you realize that is and you try to instill it in your kids, but I went to public school, played basketball played football, loved it. That's all I really cared about as a kid. It pretty much an apolitical household. I mean, they were conservative, but it wasn't, it wasn't something we talked about all the time. Yeah, went to college did ROTC went into the military, did a bunch of did a bunch, but a couple of deployments and got into vets work vets advocacy after coming home. And ultimately, that's where I ended up interacting a lot. The folks on Capitol Hill and realizing the challenges up there. And then stumbled my way into TV where I get a chance now to talk about the issues of the day with great folks like

Joe Biden's Unforgivable Failures at the Border With Chad Wolf

"The southern border and also recruitment of new people into border patrol is the great Chad wolf. Chad, welcome to the program. Yeah, well, thanks for having me, Charlie. So Chad, let me read a headline here, which is just it's so alarming when I read this. I said, well, I had to reread it because we have all these stories printed out. And I was doing so many different things. I said, what on earth? I said 46 people dead in a Texas tractor trailer. Now, I've been to the border a couple times. I'm far from an expert. I'm a layman on this. 46 people, what the hell is going on on the southern border? Well, it's pretty bad. And this is a particularly bad incident that occurred. It's just outside of San Antonio where what appears to be a number of illegal aliens who came across that border illegally were in the back of a tractor trailer truck and obviously the heat in South Texas is pretty pretty unbearable this time of year. And unfortunately, those individuals, some of those individuals passed away. But I think what it shows you is the incentive factor that this administration's policies along that border have caused, right? Where individuals from all across the world, but particularly in Mexico and Central America and other places are trying to get to the United States as quickly as they can under a Biden administration policies because they know if they get here, then they have a very good chance of staying in remaining here in the United States, despite having no legal reason to remain here because of this administration's policy. So I think unfortunately you're going to see more and more types of these incidents as we go forward. So here's what first of all, I just want to

More Than One Million Registered Voters Have Switched to the GOP

"You are living through a once in a generation political realignment. I believe it could be a once in a hundred year political realignment. We talked about this in great detail in a previous monologue and dialog. With Myra Flores winning in South Texas, 84% Hispanic district, the second most Hispanic district in the country. We saw a district that was once Democrat plus 25. Now go plus R plus Republican by 5 points. This country is far more conservative than it is represented politically. It's far more conservative than is reflected in our cultural institutions. And there is now there is a remarkable story that came out today. From The Associated Press, that believe it or not, is actually really well written. I got a couple things that I think they miss word here and that are misleading. But this right here is a 5 alarm fire for the Democrats. More than 1 million voters switch to Republican Party in warning for Democrats. Associated Press. Quote, a political shift is beginning to take hold across America. As tens of thousands of suburban swing voters who helped fuel the Democrat parties gains in recent years are becoming Republicans. More than 1 million voters across 43 states have switched to the Republican Party over the last year, according to the voter registration data analyzed by The Associated Press. The previously unreported number reflects a phenomenon that is playing out in virtually every region of the country. Democrat and Republican states along with cities and small towns in the small period Joe Biden replaced Donald Trump. But nowhere is that shift more pronounced and dangerous for Democrats than in the suburbs were well educated swing voters who turned out against Trump's Republican Party in recent years appear to be swinging back.

You have been told in truly certain terms that you are dating an idiot. And you might want to look elsewhere. You should thank her for enabling you to understand what a fool she is, what a dummy. Before you ever got married. Now, if God forbid, you're married to a woman who says I won't have sex with you because of roe V wade. Mark Fleischman Plans to Die by Assisted Suicide

"I thought a lot about mock fleischman the other day because he's going to die soon. He's 80 years old. Actually he's going to die on July 13th. In Germany, but his wife of 27 years by his side. Some years after he stepped away from the insanity of owning nightclubs and restaurants, fleischmann understandably stepped away from the limelight that was the majority of his life. The last time I saw him was a little over two years ago. He invited me to a party that was throwing for the launch of his Studio 54 book. Is that some small joint in Beverly Hills? And the crowd was a mix of The Old Guard and the new. There was some New York City journalist dad too, namely my former nemesis at page 6, Richard Johnson. Fleischmann writing a book about Studio 54 was a good enough reason to get Johnson on a plane and out in LA to hang out. I said, the old man looks good. He said he sure does. Must been that good cocaine in the 80s and we both left. So smart fleshman came by and we posed for a picture. I wish I still have it somewhere. I got to find it. But he thanked both of us for helping keep the club and him and the column for years. It was a nice affair all in all, but I could tell this was one last gasp tomorrow. Like I said, I was closing in on 80. And so here we are. A couple three weeks away from July 13th. The day the music died from on fleischmann. And that's because several years ago, he became afflicted with a mysterious illness that would make him extremely dizzy at times. To his legs, sometimes flat out failing right beneath him. And over time, that illness could not be diagnosed by doctors and became worse and worse and more frightening by the day. As it is now Mark doesn't have any balance. He drops things and doesn't know where his body is in space. There was a time where a doctor is the very best doctor, by the way. Originally thought he had a form of Parkinson's, but it isn't that. Nobody knows what this is. He's suffering from. Once he heard that Mark knew what he had to do. One time he swallowed a bunch of Xanax, but doctors brought him back before he could overdose. When he was going to go buy a gun, his wife, Mimi, intercepted, and they had a long talk. Mark convinced her that he'd had a great life that he loves and now more than anything, but now what this mystery illness running his life, he said, it's time for me to say goodbye. Eventually, with his wife's support, they contacted a Swiss nonprofit group poll after multiple tests and psychiatric evaluations, it was obvious to see that Mark fleischman, a man who pumped so much life into New York City was now a candidate for assisted

Yeah, so first, listen, my natural inclination. I'm a combat sports athlete, right? So my natural inclination is to lean in and press in and fight these things, but I want to be like rob says dangerous and wise. And we have to strike the appropriate tones of these things. But the real thing here is we need other people to be safe and know that they can participate and should push back because they don't own our kids and at the teachers and the parents need to see the example. Once you do stand up, look, these people are wimps at the end of the day. And in the last school board meeting, the people that were trying to dox all of the people that were supporting Steve and tried to lay out the people that are behind the alternative paper here and naming names and all that stuff. They were crying. At the school board meeting. We need to stand up and we need to do a bravely because they will back down.

Kevin Roberts on Universal School Choice and More

"This is what is being told now as part of critical theory that the search for the truth and objectivity is somehow racist. Yeah, it is. I mean, we even see that in a couple of the museums and the nation's capital, which is just preposterous, right? So in order to lead up to that, because that's a decade long project to get rid of that agency, we have to make sure that the state level that there's universal school choice, period, full stop. Every single dollar that any government entity spends on education needs to follow the child. So in heritage, what we're doing to sort of write a headline is operating on these aspirational goals that lead us to greater self governance. And we're not afraid of these big objectives like eliminating the Department of Education or implementing school choice at every state. But we also have to play as a baseball fan, what I call small ball. We got to go hit some singles. Some doubles and lead up to that. So pro life education, we are deeply concerned about the threat of the Chinese Communist Party. They've infiltrated our institutions of higher education and what used to be called Confucius Institutes. And we're talking about what government organs of conversion on our campus. Completely. I mean, my moderate University of Texas is one of the biggest violators of common sense when it comes to keeping the CCP out of our institutions. Heritage is going to shine the light on all of that because there are a lot of members of Congress who are given campaign money by K street lobbyists, affiliated with the CCP to protect this. I'm just here to let you know that next year when there's likely a Republican majority, they darn well better govern as conservatives rather than capital are Republicans when it comes to these

Dinesh Answers a Listener Question About Video Surveillance

"Let's go, I don't do our next question. Hey danesh, sorry if I missed it just a couple of quick questions. On those videos where you've got the person at that Dropbox, does the cell phone data match the exact time of that person that was there? Because then again, then you wouldn't need video of any other lockbox that that person had had visited if you at least had them on one because I know one of the objections is that we don't have any video of one person visiting multiple dropboxes, but again, if the video that you do have matches the cell phone data, then that's great. And the second question is, I think you also said there's like 4 million minutes of video or something like that and so it's just kind of interesting that out of 4 million minutes or what have you, there isn't more videos of the same person at different dropboxes. I mean, what sort of what other information is on those 4 million minutes of videos. So it'd be great to know what else might be there. Thank you very much. Bye bye. Now, I'm going to answer those two questions in reverse order, because while it's true that true the vote has 4 million minutes of video, it seems like a lot of video. But think about it. If you're getting video from a single Dropbox from October 1, early voting through election day, you're going to have lots of video that's just blank space. You're going to go through the day, you're going to go through the night. And so most of that video is just nothing happening necessarily at all. At least in terms of mules. You might have people coming in and depositing one vote in the Dropbox, something like that. That's fine. There's nothing untoward about that. But to the degree that you're looking for mules, a lot of that video is truly you may say empty space. The point is that there was so little video taken compared to what should have happened. The rules call for video everywhere. 24/7. And so that would have been a lot more than 4 million, probably more like 40 million or a 100 million minutes of video had they done their job, but they didn't do the

"Compared to where it was people are expected to win. The division have a chance in the afc to finally be able to be buffalo or or kansas city and get to super bowl. That's their goal. If had a good team the last couple of years they matched up as far as winds with anybody the last couple of years since he took over as quarterback so i. I'm expecting the pressure level to be the same. I actually think the pressure on him decreases a bit. Because i look. I think any objective observer is looking at it and saying he doesn't have a quality back now again unless lake on bell or devante freeman. Who's ordered in bell unless they can turn back the clock several years. He does not have a back at least at this point that we know of. That's really going to be to give him that support. And he's had in the past. I mean he obviously is the key to the running game but you know mark ingram. A couple years ago was was nice form and then last year they had a nice running back by committee situation with dobbins and edwards. So i do think there's actually i mean i. It's not an excuse. it's a legitimate scenario. Where they're running backs are out at her. And this is a running team and not just lamar but period even as receivers were side. Bateman battle with some injuries sammy. Watkins has a history of struggling with injury. So it's gonna be interesting. And i mentioned marcus peters. I don't want to belittle that as well. Because he's a tough defensive back corner. So i think this actually you know they're not dating. They're not looking at iribe like that and they shouldn't and i know the mom. You lamar is just he. He's always got tunnel vision. And that's one thing that's allowed them to be so successful and not worrying about anything outside of what he has to do. So i think. That's the proper approach. But i do think it's a legitimate explanation for them to maybe have a tougher time and people expect when you got all these injuries. Yeah i mean. I think you go into a season and you hope you have all your players. But that's just not how the nfl works. We just see way too. Many injuries of people going down and the best teams or the good teams ones that are able to just be able to survive and move on to make your job harder. Sure does but does it mean season's over no so. I'm just saying i think he has the same pressure. The pressure of getting to the postseason to save pressure of winning another playoff game. Maybe another playoff round to try to get close to that super bowl or to actually get there and that pressure is going to remain the same..

That series was unbelievable. But they didn't win. But i do think when you look at people and you think of greatness greatness comes with championships. That's why i've always said this. And this is not a not killing marv levy of the buffalo bills. But he was a great coach. Four straight super bowls. Chris john paul they never won so it's hard for him. The greatest coach ever am. I right or wrong right. No you're right well at least again. At least he'd gotten the super bowl he had to win a lot of playoff rounds to but i'm just saying but still he didn't greatest. You're right greatest. I mean that's no cup a couple of things there that stand out to me number one and this is where baseball it again in defensive trout. Who's it was a great player. Great ambassador for the game but one of the one of the differences between comparing and attaching one player's record within the team context in baseball. Is that in football. Tom brady takes every snap. For the buccaneers. They win or lose. it's on him might trout. They walk them four times. That's right and so i and the other part is and this. This part is is crucial whether it's trout or anybody else. When think about great baseball players in particular we think about moments great moments and with derek. You'd think about the flip play in oakland. You think about the misir november homerun you think about all the playoff heroics you think about him. Jumping into the stands face first against the red sox and the huge rivalry series coming out of with blood on his fail. Dying emerged no space. All cut up with with trout if he's won the all star game. Mvp and that's in terms of moments that resonate. That's pretty much. It he ryan best player for ten. He's been the best player period but in terms of moments that are connected with the american public. "Of the odd couple with chris bruce and rob harker and tj. Tom brady had some comments about how the rules are slanted in the nfl. Basically to make offense better. We saw change about ten or twelve years ago when they just protected the quarterback and protected the wide receiver and the db's in defense was that are being held back basically and can't do what they used to do. And you played in the era. When pop and quarterbacks get knocked out of games all the time and now they've soften everything for the offense because they want more points they believe. That's what fans want. Let's hear tom brady and then tj. I want to hear your thoughts. The one thing about football that's changed over. The years which i think is really hard for someone like muse played a long time to watch like they're not being taught the right way like a quarterback should only throw the ball at a certain places because your receiver is endanger getting hit for example when i used to play against ray lewis. I wouldn't throw the ball to the middle of the field because he would he go after you. And he would hit like we didn't always had the biggest receivers but he would hit them and knock him out of the game and now any every hard. Hit is a penalty on the defense. I feel like they penalized defensive players offensive mistakes. Dj your thoughts from tom brady. I agree with them and brady. If i had been in new england you could thrown across the middle. Because i wasn't afraid to take those hits just. fyi. I wanna play man. You be you'd be living in beverly hills with with the money you make you know what i'm saying. I've always said. I mean anybody that's played in era of before these rules. We're we're going to think that way but the problem i have i. I don't mind so much making a game as safe as possible. I don't mind that i'm with you on now. I don't. I don't want nobody to come off. I don't mind so some of the rules that have been implemented have been the right rules. The problem that i have is this. If i'm an offensive player in. I have the ball when i get ready to get hit. Naturally i'm going to lower my center of gravity. I'm going to drop my body. The defender is running at full speed downhill. He's going to drop his body. If i dropped my body. And he drops his. It's probably going to be held but the helmet contact. But i dropped a curl up to brace for that. He can't change that in order to lead with my shoulder. my head has to drop. My head is gonna drop if i'm leading. What my shoulder and so certain things like they should not be penalties. Like you go back to brady said about the justice fields hit. I was watching that game live. It was to his right side. I'm there's no way just lying just missed the block. They didn't get the protection call. Whatever with at least. That's what i believe. That's what you saw. And i don't know anybody. That's a defensive player. That's gonna tackle justin fields inches. Go up and just grab him. You're trying to force a fumble. Whatever justin feels the athletic big dude for people to have this dude legs is tree trunks you go in there have stepping if you want to..

"Of the odd couple with chris. Bruce and rob harker lavar. We got a great game game. One of the eastern conference finals. And i'm telling you if two months ago someone told you it's going to be milwaukee and atlanta now. Know who would have believed edison man. You've been hanging out with chris. Bruce or that that that's funny anything rob saying over the last one little bit here i gotta take. I gotta take okay. It has become custom. It has become commonplace for many people kind of the basketball world. If you will to regard the last man standing the superstar on the team that wins it as the best player in the world. Not people get crazy if jimmy butler had led miami past the lakers last year. No one would assume he's the best player in the world. But if you're already in the discussion if you're already top five in the world or something like that and you win a title people wanna give it up to you. We saw with kevin durant when he won is to rings and golden state. Some people were saying that we saw with kawhi leonard when he beat goan state in toronto albeit lot of injuries for golden state and we saw it again with lebron last year it was out there just proof positive that this guy the best player in the world. I wanna to say this if the milwaukee bucks winning and this is certainly in the class of all those guys i just mentioned if the milwaukee bucks win this championship which they should be favored to do right now i dover lean on this will be regarded as the best player in the world You disagree sounds like i'm trying to think of who would be considered to be better at this point. Then a bad thing. Kevin durant. And i still think a lot of people say lebron james. I don't think anybody's grabbed the bull by the horns like this was the off. This was the post season where it was there for the taking lebrons out in the first round he got injured. Ad was injured. There's the qualifier. There's of my guys very is clear he is is did he play. Did he play in all the games. Chris bruce art yes yes. And here's what i look us with. Sports is all about man. You gotta be able to play through the qualifiers. That'd be able to win. "I mean granted. What what we saw in the playoffs was absolutely special in. Could he be better than than lebron james at this point. Yes because father times catching up with lebron but the idea that you can just anoint. A guy with such a small sample size as the best player. That's the part that i don't agree with those people. Were saying that to just based on what he did and golden state yet. What see now see now. That's a legitimate argument like in twenty nineteen. That was a legitimate argument but then he gets hurt. We don't see him a for the for the rest of the finals. Obviously the warriors lose and then we. He's absent all the twenty twenty and then twenty twenty one he. He only plays half the season. And if you really think about it when when he was out who looked like the best player on the brooklyn nets james harden so so just with the small sample size. I can't put him above lebron at this point but also i do recognize that when we're watching lebron james. He doesn't have the same ability to to blow by guys and drive by them and all the things that made him so dominant but his basketball iq in being able to set guys up is what still puts him head to head and shoulders above a bunch of guys in the league. And there's really only a couple of guys who you could even contend as the best player in the league at this point. I don't even think you can put jaanus in that category because yacht is as talented as he is. Twenty eight eleven six on the season which is unbelievable but the idea though that the best in the league doesn't either facilitate the last shot or take the last shot on his own team. That's a little bit weird to me. And then you can. You could argue steph. You could argue like a and you could argue k. d. but beyond that everybody else doesn't have enough of a resume or doesn't or we've had such a small sample size to even have them talked about in the same breath as the be. We look forward to hear your knowledge. Let's start with the game. That's about to begin philadelphia and atlanta. If you were coaching. Ben simmons we all know the struggles. He's going with at the foul line and now he won't even take shots. How would you handle that situation. I count votes. Psychologically with him and just on the court. I would try to come lately. put him in position that he is filling comfortable right now and and stay away from talking about What everyone else is talking about Obviously he has to put in that time getting the gym And sue especially free throws You know right now. You're not gonna get a jump shot you can make a few free throws with just a little bit of confidence as red and so I would just you know just really you know. Stay away from the conversation of you gotta shoot this. You have to do that. Hey keep defending pushed the ball attack the rim post your mismatches. Get other people. Great shots you know. I would keep harping on those type of thing. Would you take you out quickly. Route. would you take him out. If if they go to. The hacker been not right away. I wouldn't enough. I got you gotta give them a chance to make a couple. Miss a couple You know obviously if if it starts to turn it into something that's spyros you know you gotta stop the bleed but you know if he if he wanted to show him confidence you have to leave them out there especially during the gay I just think that you have to do it. Not as you get towards crush time. Gotta manage that Dhakal figure that out if they do lose the weather's tonight or the series. Is it time for divorce. Maybe that they just don't fit together right or there's some issue here or are people just blowing this out of proportion. Which way would you look at it if they do lose the series to atlanta. Well yeah. I think it might be time to.

"Who are normally used to getting their touches. If i'm phoenix you gotta whole arm played away that you play in opportunistically when you go at a d. You gotta go in you know with your effort with your with the diving on the floor after loose balls you know all offensive rebound you gotta get them in transition. It's going to be hard for him. To rebound and get back in transition you know. Ad how excellent he is offense at offensive rebounding when he's rolling so you got to beat him in a hustle points and hopefully that's the you know the x factor. But i think if you overcompensate trying to go at it could work in the lakers favor. No i agree with that. You can't get out of your game and what you do. But i just wonder it comes. A point of guy gets in foul trouble. You know you attack. Try to get them out of the game. Oh yeah and i wonder if you would. Just try to attack a dc defensively. You know what. I mean what he could do and what he can't do early on. You know you can't do it the entire game. So so what he's gonna call movement plays to see if he can move and cover and guard and like you said hopefully get him in a situation where he's got a show out. Oh he's got a cover so you're absolutely right but you don't abuse it right and What is your gut i mean. Give me some numbers. You're a if you think you think he's going to play correct. You believe that. Ah believe he's gonna play. I i i see him giving it a go. It'll be limited minutes but even limited minutes. That emotional says a lot. Because i tell you like when you're a guy that you watch a teammates suck it up and play you like man. What's my excuse dog. I got two arms and two legs that work you know. So i it's going to be an emotional booze and like the lakers rob correct me for wrong theref- a team full of guys who need that kuzma. Kuzma shows up the issue right. And it's unbelievable where coups is because you remember Being a late first round pick. He came out of nowhere. Had a really good rookie season. And if you remember. The lakers refused new orleans. Wimmer they wanna kouzmin. The first time they tried to trade for a d. and they would not include kouzmin the deal and now a couple of years later who's not looked at the same way. It's been very inconsistent. Yeah so he's a guy who needs a boost. Dennis schroder was excellent last year in the playoffs and has got a frustrating. Because he's he's playing against his backcourt mate and chris paul. You know they were really good last year. No one is necessarily talking about that caruso pretty consistent but you know he could use a boost. But you know this is lebron. James team is fragile. This is a fragile group of guys. We know who lebron. James is and you know marco's a little up in age you know he's been getting eight up in the pick and roll so these guys have to figure it out drumming. Is it twenty twenty guy. And he hasn't seemed to get it together with the lakers. So man to me all the villains got ya get you fill ins outta here dog and go hoop motion has to be all towards winning and get your mind right place and i know when you see a guy sucking it up and trying to give his all you know. It doesn't do anything but spur. You on rob at children's national hospital..

Hey you know could ryan the doctors can say he can't play right you can't rip ripple and even charles barkley when i was watching last night and he called him street clothes being funny only charles could get away with that right right and according to chris haines lebron toy. Ad don't rush back. Which is smart. Lebrons seems to be taking the tax. You are at least to some degree. I don't think what brian feels like. We just can't beat them but it's smart because at the end of the day look next year. I think rob look and we'll get into this more but father time is knocking on lebron's door. No i this smothered him and tackled him and all of that but he's he's come over now. He's knocked on the door. He's walked in the house. You know because you saw lebron couldn't couldn't his numbers look okay right. If you didn't see the game you just look at the box score. You'll be like libra show. I mean it wasn't his best game but hey twenty four seven times but no he can't dominate the game. Like you used to the numbers be what they may. But that's evident doesn't mean he can't win championships. It just means. We've talked about it. Rob with tom brady. Tom brady can't carry that mediocre talent anymore. "To ask you you talking about alias. You talking a lot of a little bit about toronto so vladimir guerrero junior. He's he's leading. Baseball is at the top of baseball and three every offensive. Statistic that matters. He's got a three point one war like what are the chances that he was able to keep this up and be legitimate. Mvp candidate that's a great question martin. Because he he's someone i think was with junior. He's got a couple of against them. One is that i think he's gonna plan a team. That's good but not great. The jays are gonna be. I think a middle tier team in the american league this year. So he's not gonna get that bump that comes from being on a playoff team. The other part is is defensive quotient while he has played a respectable i base. He is not a dazzling defender. Now it will help him. That for trout is not playing right now. He's injured what i wonder martin and you look around the game and the truly the like the best team in the sport right now at least in the american league. I don't know we have a clear. Mvp candidate on the race for example. Maybe the red sox with someone like a bogart's depending on how things play out. But i i guess i. I'm seeing that that from the standpoint of his defensive profile does not really fit the profile of someone that i would expect to win the mvp. Because i love to see that that two way contribution but to your point he is hitting so well that you willing to overlook some of the defensive shortcomings and also you. You're seeing the yankees for example. They don't really have an mvp player. Offensively you look around the white sox abreu's not had as good of ear as he had last year so i think the the context and the competition makes wider legit possibility. But i think that Really he has transcended the expectations. A lotta people had on him during the offseason so yeah i think he's part of the conversation but because of the way the jews are playing martin. "Odd couple with chris. Bruce and rob harker. Let's kick it off on his magic city. Monday and i mentioned it. I wrote a column for deadspin. Basically saying that. Naomi osaka was wrong. She decided that she was going to go to the french open. Martin and she tweeted out before she got there that she wasn't going to speak to the media that she had a mental health things going on and she wasn't feeling it and she knew she would be fine because it's in the conduct code for tennis players and so she knew that the french people at the french open weren't going to be happy about this and then she was fine yesterday and reprimanded by all four major tennis tournaments. They put out a joint statement and said that She was fine and if this behavior continued there was a chance that she would be fine even more severe and maybe even for not participating with the media so then today she went. Martin was that on twitter instagram. She posted a lengthy twitter on twitter. A lengthy thing basically saying that she was going to bow out withdraw from the french open at so much going. She didn't want to be a distraction. You know blase blase blase so. She has exited the french open and more. Now start with you. Because i told you my column was that she was wrong in this situation and my point was very simple. This is what you sign up for when you become a professional tennis player. It's a part of your job description to talk to the media. It's not about the media. It's about engaging the fans the fans want to hear from you. And i just said if she has a mental health issue. I respect that. I'm not a doctor. I'm telling her what she has or what she doesn't have. My thing would be. She should stay home not play tennis. Get that together first and then worry about tennis instead of trying to come over to play tennis and then not fulfill all the other obligations that go with being professional tennis player so i thought she was wrong. I got a lot of pushback on social media which is fine. Where're you martin. I i tend to agree. I think that. I think that there are certain obligations that go into being a professional athlete. 'cause the reason why that any of us are here the reason why you and i are here is because fans care right th. That's why there's all the shoulder programming on top of all of these games. Pregame postgame You know debate shows all these things because fans care and fans the kind of the engine that makes this thing go so for antonio soccer to say that. She didn't want to participate in the post game. Press conferences which are all of what ten fifteen minutes and that's all it is. I mean it's about five or six questions and when you could say. I'm done if there's a question that that bothers her irritates her. What did she could always say. No comment next question. And that's that's the thing that i have my biggest problem with the twenty twenty one year the the year twenty twenty athlete. It's you could do the marshawn lynch and just say i'm here so i don't get fine and but and i i. I tend to agree with them..

Wouldn't well she done with you so that you know de yeah you know what i mean has been really weird. Yes right. make it whoopi. We weren't making enough whoopi. We're watching golf on honeymoon. Wando cost me my marriage tiger woods so i blame it on. You know. Tiger started off unbelievably a main. Like you couldn't had a better start. Here's what hurts him. Chris and it's not just that he doesn't have more majors jack. He went eleven years without winning a major eleven years. well that's an unbelievable drought fawn. All time great over four thousand days. Eleven years of not winning so yes. His story was historic unbelievable magical but man and if he didn't win that other one the one that he won a couple of years ago. It was two years ago feeding that one chris. He really wouldn't be in that conversation because you would be talking about thirteen years now. Whatever it is. What are winning a major. And that's a long time. That's somebody's career. So i would say you can make a case that he's not because of his finishing last eleven years will weigh disappointing from his first nine years. I think you have to look at it almost like a sandy colfax you know. It was a brief in his in his brief colfax obviously but his run his height that stretch. No one was better but play that many years though right i know he said tiger golfed a lot longer than colfax. But i almost think rob like you mentioned. Eleven year drought. I almost think you have you look at that. Like jordan in washington. I know he ended up winning one a couple of years ago but like tiger just was never the same rob after the whole scandal and everything he never was the same and that and then the injuries obviously start taking their toll even before this scandal. So by. Just think that you know again jordan. Everyone came back and won a championship or anything. But just like. I don't hold those wizards years against mike whole you know what i mean like i. I hear what you're saying but the only difference with this. We all kind of new tiger was. He's kinda done. You know what i mean like. It's we were hoping. Is he going to get back. But it was kinda like you knew. He's not the same. You know. I i hear you but i don't think it's the same in that. Mike came back for two years. He didn't when my up after after this whole thing woods is going to lead one eleven years. I'm talking about chris to win. He was all about majors. That's what it was all about for him so for him to not be able to win a major for that..

"Of the couple with Chris Bruce and rock Harker. Of course yesterday Bernie was the big. Match Golf. Charity event to raise money for covert nineteen great. It raised over twenty million dollars, which was great. So that was good to hear. Of course, people tuned in not too much else going on on a on a Sunday afternoon, people looking for live broadcast live programming, and of course you had the names. You're Tiger Woods Phil Mickelson. Peyton manning and you had Tom Brady. And I will say this. Tom Brady was trash. Tom Brady was all full golf. I know he had that one shot in the seven. Everybody went crazy like it was a hole in one finally saw brady was bad. Tom Brady ruined it? Could have been a spectacular thing. There's other guys you could've put in I. Know You. Okay, they won the Division fifteen time world series a number of times I don't know what the exact numbers. They went five or six times in those sixteen years they. Day only one one. No, I understand that to win. So dare dare. Accomplishment was like Lebron's got into the finals. He has it just won his the central division now. He's got to the Finals fifteen ninety. Is An unbelievable and any sport to win the bear, but it's division I mean. I get it in baseball especially back then. It's a little different because you didn't have as many teams in the playoffs. That's what I'm saying. That's why you could get in right and so to me. That's a bigger failure because how many teams were making the playoffs at that point four back then I think it was through Chris Four. Okay, so. You're was it. Three Would, it might have been the nineties before the wildcard or what? Yeah, so so you only had. The division winners, so if three team see that's the difference you on your Division fifteen times, and you only had to be to other teams to get to the world series and you only you lost that ten times, and then you only won the world series one out of those fifties. Brian hasn't been that unsuccessful. He's won three so I just think had he gone? They had he been in Cleveland, one three law six. I still think like Pierce would not have this argument. Pearson's argument is. You didn't stay to build it up. You would have to say. He built it up. They didn't win it every year, but he did build them any did that anyway. He's still built them into a contending team. He just didn't close the door until the. Would to Miami came back. Interesting story came out today Chris, Simms former NFL quarterback, speaking or one zero five point three, the fan in Dallas. These talking about DAX contract. He says from what I know of the situation and I know from some people who are in the know that he's been he being back has offered five years one hundred seventy five million dollars for those that don't want to do the math as thirty five million a year. He wants a four year deal. and Dow's wants five. He says if they do agree to a five year deal. They would like this this being DAX people. They would like a really big number at the end of that fifth year to cover their butts for what the market might be at the position five years from now and I've heard he's asking for somewhere like north of forty five million in that fifth year. Here's the thing rob. In five years. I don't think forty five million is going to be the top. So I think that it might be bigger than forty five. You said north of forty five. Maybe fifty or something I think that is being smart. Data saying look. The reason he wants. Fourth Year is because he knows that the caps going to go up. That salaries are going to go up even higher, and you want me to sign a five year deal net fifth year at thirty, five million will not be where it should be as far as you know rankings. As, so if you want me to give me either give me the four years for thirty five million per, or if you give me five, the net five better Ba, forty, five plus million. I think that I agree with that. That's what he should do i. just wonder is the forty five even low for five years from now Raji while Robin I are talking. Can you look up five years ago? What the paid salary was per year Pro Garoppolo? What that was fewer than five years ago when he got like twenty eight, so it's probably around twenty six, but you can look it up. Please let us know Barabbas. I think when when you try to figure out talk about what the money's going to be. There's all kinds of other factors of someone committee money to you now, not knowing what the future holds not knowing if another pandemic comes through and wife South to season, not knowing if you're going to be injured, everybody, who a deal with the minute it sign Chris so. That's not really the issue. I understand why the cowboys would water. Get them as cheap as they can't for as long as they can right so so I get. That said we'll make a commitment to you, but you keep talking about. He was in route to to Lino now. Is No all right? What did you say he is telling you? He was except for he crashed in Philadelphia. A. Lead would you stop with that? He didn't do it. What you down into outfield. Playoff wins than van or whatever you call very nice. On his way, what's an MVP Jacks? Can I talk? Can I talk I? Want to talk on. The I ten minutes his way I gave you the first ten minutes, right? It's eight Oh six whole. Ten minutes you got eight and a half five. Oh six for you go ahead. From the cowboys, I'm sorry I. It's hard enough to even come up. They didn't even want to pay to guy. They.

"Welcome to coffee with a couple of cure where we share practical tips for your relationship before you finish your first. Here's Jay Laurie pipe. Hi, everybody. We're jam Laurie. Pionk from the couple of here. Yes. We also run a couple of other websites. Mine is called his porn, your pain healed or porn pain. Heal dot com. In mine is porn is killing me dot com. And we're basically here to let you know, what season two of our podcast will be like is basically going to cover the issue of betrayal. And obviously we cover a certain type of betrayal, a certain type of sexual integrity issue. But we also going to be talking about other types of betrayal as well. This the dynamics that we have seen cover any type of lies or where one person is dishonest and the other person finds out about it, and it creates trauma and betrayal issues between the two. Yeah. Maybe not always trauma. But definitely a breakdown in trust. Yes. Agreem- now normally on our podcast. We would have a big fat s after the episode number this episode or the season should have S's on all of them because they are safe. The stands for safe for betrayed as j just alluded to betrayal can cause trauma. And when that's the case, we need to be very careful. I like to be very careful about the information. We give to betrayed people because it can be triggering not that we're putting out, you know, bad staffer anything. It's just the nature of our podcast. You know, we started it in order to. Can have more fun. And and and be with each other in our healed state versus just trying to combat what almost broken down broke us down several times. So. Yeah. The so all of these episodes should be safe. We had a friend who mentioned to us that just seeing us relate. Well, was something of a trigger for him. So we plan on dropping these. Well, we did plan on on doing like a a net. Flicks. You know, binge drop drop them all at one time. But because of some technical problems were just going to do this as we can. But we also want to cover some other stuff which will get to two minute. But we're going to be covering some new stuff this season. If you've heard of us, or if you've heard our interviews, and that sort of thing, then, you know, some of our story we've already covered that in episodes three seven ten and. Seven of the first season. So if you don't know our story, go back and listen to those if if you've seen any of our interviews, though, we might repeat some of that basic information, but we're also going to be sharing new information with you as well. One of those areas is institutional trauma. This has to do with a lot of what I've seen in my work in that is where. Basically institutions like certain churches or certain therapists, or even certain schools of thought within those institutions they can actually do more harm than good. Sometimes even though they're probably well-meaning because of certain dynamics which will go into on the next season. They can actually do do some harm themselves. Well-meaning people can consider things that are just not helpful. Right. One of the other things that we're going to be covering as it's not just about the behavior of the person who betrayed their spouse. So for me, it's not just about my behavior wrapped around the pornography issue, but it's more about making Laurie feel safe. It's more about what what will it take for her in her traumatize state to feel safe around me? So that's not necessarily about. Just meek waiting my certain behavior. It's me getting into a routine of new behaviors that help her feel safe in those situations. So we're going to cover quite a bit on that. I think in this next season. Yeah. And other thing we're going to talk about a little bit is known. No news is not necessarily good news. Meaning you guys have to talk about this. And so we're going to give you some hints about how to talk about that about the the break down that can happen after betrayal and the last one is is pretty significant as well. Which is what can the betrayer do with the pain that the betrayed person's feeling? This is probably the primary place where I work with most of my guys is they may have years of establish sobriety. And yet they don't do a good job of hearing what their partner is going through. And therefore the breakdown continues. Right and. JJ said, you know, the last one that's not going to be the last subject we cover on or you know, that's not the sum. Total of all the subjects will be covering, but blessed when we have listed is at one we're going to be covering more issues as well. And this might not even be just one season. We're learning new stuff about betrayal all the time. So I can see this being multiple seasons in the future. This is this is our our regular work. So far work gets in the way of our other work. Well, that's just the way it's gonna go one thing we want to let you know, though, is the first thing we're going to be recording is I don't know if we're gonna do this on the podcast or not. But we're going to be doing human a sessions mainly because we've been getting a lot of questions, and we will probably be podcasting those as well. So that'll just have QNA on the front, right? So if you're looking for on YouTube, look for the couple cure that that phrase, the couple cure will get you us. Find us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and you yeah. And we're just now getting started with he Instagram now. So hopefully by the time, this is released there will be a few post out there. So we just wanted to give. A heads up. And we look forward to connecting with you on the future. I guys.

"couple" Discussed on Coffee with The Couple Cure

"To coffee with a couple of cure where we share practical tips for your relationship before you finish your first Cup. Here's Jay Laurie. Pipe. Everybody and welcome to another episode today. We're going to be talking about came you say it differently. Is basically a technique or maybe it's not even technique. It's more of a like something to remember when you're having breakdown conversations. Or when it seems like you're just not getting anywhere in conversation. So our example comes from watching a couple of people, we know we were going to restaurant and one person was they were asking for directions. But what they were asking for was, where's the parking lot? And. They. Felt like they were being clear, they they knew the intent of why they were asking the question, but the answer was the parking lots right in front of the restaurant. And then the person would say, but that's not what where's the parking lot. And and so then they would say is right. It's right. They are around the restaurant and the person giving the directions had been there before. Right. And I I guess he had a person hadn't yet probably had her. Yeah. Hadn't been there in a while. And so one of the things we noticed was that the person. Asking for the directions was feeling some anxiety about driving in a big city and driving in this area. And then some anxiety about getting into the restaurant. And and yet they were so kind of impatient. With the answer. That they couldn't think through what they were truly trying to ask. And it was like they were impatient with themselves as well. Like, I I know I should be able to do this differently. And and that couldn't and somehow in this communication things just continue to Kennedy terrier rate. It was funny because the person giving the answers like it's in its around. You know, it's it's in front of the building the parking lots in front of the building. And then they were trying to interpret like are you are you wondering where the parking spaces are like where to park and the person could just kept saying, no, where's the parking lot? And what they were asking really was where's the entrance of the parking lot? Should I go straight and make a left or should I turn left and then turn into the department? Yeah. You know because there was a street. It was on the corner. So they ended up against figuring out. But I thought it was kind of got a little tense there for a bit it got tents. And it was something that from an outsider's perspective. We could see that that neither one of them really knew. How do we change this dynamic and both of them kept kind of escalating, especially the person who is feeling they anxiety because they were assuming like, you should know what I'm asking. Right. Right. And and I'm not picking that happens all the time with Jay. And I so yeah there and so it's number one an opportunity to live in grace or. Mercy for the other person. Because sometimes their own emotions have them. Stuck their own state of mine has them stock that they just need an answer to something. And can't clearly tell you what the question really is could be just their state of stress. Right. And so it's, you know, the idea of Kanye ask it a different way. Number one is to ask the person to us to take different approach can use different words. Right. Can you can you phrase it a different way use a different sentence? Yeah. And if you're both ready for it, then it won't necessarily hack the other person off. It's like, okay. I'm not understanding what you're saying. Obviously. Can you say it in a different way that I might be able to like I really want to answer. Your question is just were speaking to different languages right now, or I don't know how you're defining things or since I can't see into your brain. I don't know exactly what you're talking about in. You know, maybe then we'll be able to take this more calmly and in you'll get you'll get you know, one step closer to your answer. The answer you're looking for.
