"It's four 40 on Wall Street. We do check markets all day long at Bloomberg, we begin with earnings news, lots of it after the bell and mar vell technology expects AI revenue in fiscal 2024 to at least double from a year ago. After ours, we've got the stock now up by 13.7%. Gap reporting better than expected adjusted EPS and margin improvement in the first quarter also looking at gap shares of now by 11.6%. Also after the bell we heard from Costco, Costco reported EPS for the third quarter that missed the average analyst estimate. It was a mixed day on Wall Street. We had the S&P higher by 36 points today up by about 9 tenths of 1%, a rally in companies linked to the frenzy and AI outweighed broader market concerns, including a debt default, also on the minds of investors, the Federal Reserve, Lauren Sam Filippo is senior investment strategist at U.S. trust Bank of America private wealth. At one point, putts were expected for June and those cuts are now being pushed out to later in the year and were more of the mindset that cuts on his story until next year. It would be more typical anyway to see that sort of pause that length of pause. I think the average is around ten months between the last rate hike in the first cut of the cycle. So as is typical, we expect to sort of hold that pause for some time. Yeah, some P today up 36 a gain of 9 tenths of 1%, the Dow down 35 dropped there of one tenth of 1% NASDAQ up 214 points today up 1.7%. "The TSP is available to him as a brave person who has chosen to serve our nation in the U.S. Air Force and thank him for that for me. And one of the benefits you get is you get access to the TSP. Thrift savings plan is an incredibly superior savings plan compared to what the rest of us have available to us. And the rules have changed for military TSPs. There's now a match for what your son puts in it. I'd want your son to go in the life cycle fund available to him through the TSP, go in the Roth version of the TSP, and that's where I want him shoving a lot of money into and the fact that he's choosing to eat out, even though he's got free food on base. I've had a lot of free food on base. And beating out sounds like a really good idea. That's something I really enjoy is eating out. So I get it. I'm Sicily in Hawaii. The food's so good. And ridiculously expensive, except at O Costco. Costco. Same dollar 50 hot dog is in the lower 48. I wasn't talking about hot dogs. The fish there. Okay, Greg and Florida says my mother in law moved in with us about ten years ago and is now 90. She's still mobile with a walker and a pleasure to have in the house. We set up a joint bank account when she moved in that her social security goes into and we transfer $300 a month for expenses out of her $1100 in monthly income. We pretty much pay for everything else except for her life insurance policy and lifeline necklace and she'll buy take out a couple of nights a month. She had a bad fall last year and became a 100% dependent, but we were able to get her independence back after about 6 months of home care which siblings helped to cover the costs. We are considering raising the amount she pays us, we don't know what's fair. She has no assets and just what she's been able to save up since living with us, which is now about $8000 in the bank. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. So first of all, how wonderful Greg, and this is a pattern across the United States.

"Are up. Treasury yield hit 4%. There is a time on Thursday that the yield the treasury curve was all above 4%. Central banks around the world are reiterating commitment to increasing rates to tame inflation. Eurozone inflation is at 8 and a half percent. Oils up more than 4% for the week, which led the commodity play or led the commodity prices higher Costco, Costco, misses aunt revenue, slow down and demand on discretionary items. Their Costco stock ended more than down more than 2% yesterday, 8% in a month. And then the crypto, the crypto story continues, right? Silver gate, which is the bank that has been fueling funding everything. Is now threatening other crypto players, which may create other dominoes may start continuing to fall in there. And then there's, again, like I said, the market market would have a winning week, but where's the trend or is the trend is the trend your friend? I mean, there's certainly some enthusiasm. I know there's some pent up enthusiasm for the markets to go higher, but I would just simply say to you, look no further than the Dow Jones, go back to go to Yahoo finance. Go to Yahoo finance, go to the chart of the Dow Jones 30. And go back to 2001. Go to June of 2001. And look at the charts and see what it does between 2001 and 2003. And if you're really good at charts, takes me a while to do. But if you're really good, try to copy it and overlay it onto what it is, what the markets look like right now. That's my concern. I look at the markets and just broad terms, the SP 500, which it feels like it's struggling. The S&P 500 is finally over the 50 day moving average at 50 and the 200 day movie average. Even the 50 day is above the 200, which is kind of where you want. It's having a little bit of trouble there. I mean, we certainly have a shoulder roll in the markets, and this is technical analysis, but again, these are the things you want to be looking at if you're managing your own money, but as I look at the markets, that's to be 500 close, what? 40, 45. It's still about 16% above the pre COVID high, 44% above the COVID low. Dow is about 11 and a half percent above the pre COVID high. 44% as well above the low. NASDAQ, it's 16% above the pre COVID high and about 41% above. Do we retest those? We really do we really test or do we test those lows? Don't know. Don't know. Don't know. I'm just saying, you have to have a strategy. No one likes to be down. You hate being that yo yo on the escalator. That's going, which direction. 8 6 6 four 9 6 2300 is it ever that's 8 6 6 four 9 6 2300. CD rate, the benefit of these rates are CD rates are up. CD rates are up. They're very attractive. I've received several calls from people out there about the quote unquote the annuity that's being offered to people out there that's paying as much as I think 8.6%. I heard some crazy number like 8.6. A couple things you need to be aware of. One, it's based on your age. Two. It's not an interest rate. It's an income stream, okay? So there's some subtle differences with those strategies. If you're trying to do it based on yours and your wife's age, you're going to get receive a lower payout, right? But the benefit is the benefit is if you're willing to tie up your money, the money will grow for purposes of income. Not for purposes of withdrawal. Very important distinction. So you need to pay attention to that. More than happy to talk to you about that. But we are seeing CD rates in the 5% range right now. I can procure you a CD at 5%, generally they're about a one year term. There is some attractive to this right now, up to about 15, 18 months in the marketplace, then things start to roll over again to start the rate start falling. What's that saying? Well, the market's expect rates to be lower two years from now than where they're going to be. So your question is, how do I play this? Do I ladder CDs? So I stuffed maturity when the market comes back or do I try to lock in a gain a rate that's in theory less than the cost of inflation. That's what you want to be careful for. You don't want to fall and money with cash. Yes, I know cash is king. I've heard the term before I've used it. But cash is a decision not to make a decision about your financial life and you don't want to get caught in that trap. 8 6 6 four 9 6 2300 is that it's 8 6 6 four 9 6 2300. Coming up. Have you created cash to pay the taxes on your rock conversion? Fees versus commissions, which is right for you. Got a question. I'm life and local. So let's hear it. The number 8 6 6 four 9 6 2300 before we turn the phone lines off. You're listening to me. Greg O'Donnell on the OD 5 radio network

"That's what is that's a very very cliff notes. Version of what's going on here and disney of course wants to retain ownership of the rights. It has to all all things marvel. So that's we'll see how this plays out. This has been going on since the seventies when you had characters. Well he had this with a howard the duck which also became a movie where there's a big battle behind the creators of that and who owned it and in fact was a key was a caricature about a disney character. Being in a marvel. Comic is n- ongoing thing about what creators own when they're working for somebody else stocks drilling down on today. Let's start with costco. Costco trades under c. o. s. t. Cost shares rose three percent and gained thirty four percent in a year. What's new with costco. Well costco reported earnings and they reported what i thought was really strong quarter there. There's their sales growth sixteen percent. If you take out gas and foreign exchange which is just strong with gas and foreign exchange s- eighteen percent com sales for the stores up fifteen percent also a bigger and canada Up to twenty percent. Canada ecommerce up ten percents. Remember eleven percent. Remember where we were a year ago. Right where you had of people in the pandemic buying in bulk buying for home a great time for costco And one of the reasons things are better is inflation. And they're seeing prices come up with they're raising prices interesting stuff though because they're having trouble getting stuff and they're having trouble getting all kinds of things they're seeing inflation..

I'm going to give you a little data on. This is an older laptop 2000 and 13. Toshiba. It was the most expensive one hit I corps 7/4, Gen. Eight gigs of RAM is a 64 bit system with one terabyte hard drive, although it probably has a little less than that. It's still running on the windows 8.1. And my overall question was how to safely get that thing up to Windows 10 or preferably Windows 11. I don't know if it has the processing speed and everything else. To do 11. Alright, so, 2013. How much did you spend on this thing? I mean, this was big mice was like Was this like 2500 bucks? I spent $100.02 years ago at a pawn shop. Oh, my gosh. You're kidding. No one wanted it because it has over 17 inch screen And it's a power hog as you can imagine, Well, 100 bucks. Now when you got it didn't have the OS and everything on to tell me about it. Okay, Well, I don't want to be extraneous. Um, I have a model number here. I don't know. No, I don't want to know the model. Never. I just wanted to say he went to the pawnshop and paid 100 bucks for this laptop. Okay? And so so was the operating system and everything intact. Yeah, yeah. That's women attacked me. Does it function as soon as you know? Was it working? And did you? I mean, did you didn't did you find anybody else's data on it? Or was it just the OS that was on it? Yeah, There's no doubt on it. And I'm aware of, so someone must have cleaned it out. Maybe the pawn shop. That's awesome. You know, because, you know, like, go ahead. I've had no issues with it. I mean, DVD drive has worked fine. That's amazing. 100 bucks. That's great. Wow, You're like the bargain hunter galore. Let me tell you I don't think I don't know about them. Don't have such good luck. Alright, Here's here's the bad news laptops too old Okay, uh, you can bypass the hardware requirements but may not necessarily work. I actually asked my I T genius John about this because he's the wizard, and he says that you can bypass this What's called the T P. 20 requirement TPM requirement, But you have to hack the registry. Thank you So much for your call. Taste. Sorry. Didn't have better news, Uh, is that I didn't take update this past week about Costco. Costco has this, you know, satisfaction guaranteed or your money back, and that's actually a legal phrase, by the way. And so there's this video that's gone viral of a two women. They say their former Costco employees, and they said that people have returned like Dead Christmas trees after Christmas, Um empty wine bottles and they got their money back. Uh, they've also taken back old computers said they just don't work anymore. I can't upgrade them and because that Costco says, satisfaction, guarantee your money back, they actually get their money back. But Costco has some recourse to Because it's a membership driven enterprise. They can cancel your membership, and if they cancel your Costco membership, what's going to happen at that point is that that's going to go down on your record your big data profile of life that's out on the Internet and everywhere else and you don't have access to everybody else does. And then, uh, we'll see that they cancel your membership and you get a big black check Mark right there, So I just want to keep that in mind. Hey, go right back and talking about how much that PayPal account is worth on the dark web. So stay right where you are. Okay,.

"Ursula show coming up at 10 45. It will be time for scenarios. Find out how a gal writes in and she basically broke up with her boyfriend and is still living in the house. But right now, Dres, check this out. How much does what you do for a living matter in getting married and or staying, married or being in a relationship? Here's why I bring that up because we got to talk about the jobs with the highest divorce rates in the jobs that are the most attractive first. I want to start off with the jobs here are the jobs with the highest divorce rates. And this actually kind of breaks My heart because of the top 93 of them have to do what military Yes number one on the jobs. Highest divorce rates, enlisted military supervisors at 30. Percent. That's kind of on the sad side. Those in logistics are number two auto mechanics, I auto techs and mechanics and everything. Those are number three. And let's see, Uh, number six will be food prep and food service, so those are on the list. So again, three of the top nine have to do with military Number four was military tactical operators and number seven was other military occupations. Now, dres. I want to get into this right here. Did you know that there are jobs that are the most attractive to the opposite sex, According to this article. The most attractive for men to men are women that are nurses, elementary school teachers, doctors, secretary lawyer And the most attractive to women are doctors, lawyers, carpenters, engineers and project managers. Let's break this conversation all the way down here. Dres. Um, has your job ever been the reason Maybe for a breakup. Or the reason for why you got with somebody Talk about Um you know what? For a breakup? No. You know what? Yes, Yes. I didn't make enough money. I've been there before me. I have been. I have been the guy who he didn't make enough. He don't got enough. You know, whatever. I'm like, Okay, we'll keep it pushing shoddy because you know what I mean. Like, if you're not here for me, then you don't need to be here at all. But you know, Yeah. Yeah. I've never done that to anyone I could never imagine. Your job being a reason I'm with you or not. Maybe something like if you're just gone too much or something, And I just feel like it's impacting the relationship or you know what I mean. Or you got a job out of town. I'm like, Yo, I just don't do the long distance thing, baby. I You know, let's just write. This ain't gonna work for us. But the job itself. No, never been that. Um, I didn't even know there were jobs that people really liked and didn't like This article, though, did It did expose a lot in me to look and go. You know what? There are some things that ain't so sexy. We'll get to that in a minute, though. I want to hear about you answered the same question. Well, first of all, it's almost like you were speaking life into me. Do you know how many I don't know if there's women is listening right now, if you used to date me, but a lot of y'all did. Y'all got rid of me because I wasn't making money. And shout out to you. Good. You're You're right. I wasn't making money. Thank you for the motivation. It ain't the same. No more, but there it is. So, yes, I've had that happen before. Uh, me personally. I've never cared with somebody else does. Um, For some reason, I had that question for Chef Chef. Is there any job out there that you refused to date? Someone that does that job? Yeah, pretty much. Anyone who is unavailable. I think when you look at the the list of jobs that, uh, that divorce rates are high end. It's usually people with high stress jobs, or they're unavailable in the relationship. Whether they're getting low paid. They have to work a couple jobs. They're working nights weekends. They're deployed like in the military. But any job where someone has consistently doing over time. I just don't think it's conducive to an effective relationship. You can you can co manage life together. But it's really difficult when two people especially are working two jobs and over time. I don't know I have a relationship. Yeah, And I wonder. I wondered that right like Look, let's be real. Whenever I see I got there's an occupations that every time I see these folks in uniform, and I'm just like You show up to a party and it's over like you're it right And and for me, the top profession that I always look at, and I, for some reason, believe that you are at the top. I don't know why, but it just is. Fire men or women. Firefighters. Okay, Um pilots and doctors Firefighters. 48 hours, man. Two days a week, five days off. Are you kidding me? That is a dream for a relationship, right? Oh, yeah, but Chef, I love what you just said. "Okay. I could lie to you. But that would not be honest. Yeah, you just go from snack station to snack station. If they serve cocktails, you'd never have family on the weekend. Exactly. And if there's not enough, maybe they've given out their samples too soon. You could always get the buck 50 Hot dog and co combo. They're Costco. Telling you, You can't go wrong if he like 90 people there for seven bucks. And then get a giant bottle of Manny's Anyway back to the blogged Warren Buffett says. Inflation is on the move, and I noticed this at the grocery store, which is what took us down that side winding rabbit hole, which had absolutely no value except entertainment purposes. But have you noticed that the prices of your stuff is going up? That's what I was getting to Dave do you by the state because I buy the same things all the time. I buy the same list of stuff over and over again, and I've noticed as of late the prices on stuff for starting to creep up some of it a lot. And I keep waiting because you know there are no inflation is in check. No, it's not. You look at gas prices and food prices and frankly The rest of it is just noise because I don't always have to go out by new washer dryer. By the way, the inflation on them is like 11 to 15% right now. That's significant, but I can not buy that. I can't not my gas and food And yet most inflation kind of indexes. They leave out gas and food. The thing that everybody pays for in some way, shape or form and if you take the bus you're paying for gas. You know, everybody pays for gas. Everybody pays for food. But Mandy this this shouldn't impact your life whatsoever. No, because you feed your family with samples anyway. Yeah. Costco, Costco. I don't need I don't need to worry about a Costco hasn't written. Yes. Oh, no, It's all good. But I just I'm wondering, and Warren Buffett says, Look, people are paying more. They're willing to pay more. And I will tell you I've been watching the houses in my neighborhood. Fly off the market. They're going on sale. They're being sold the first day at prices way way higher than the house is sold in the last year. And people are paying it. People are paying more for stuff. I just went to a computer store for the first time in ages, and I have that old person moment where I'm in the computer store. Like what? A graphics card costs. What? When I was a kid, they only cost like Marty $9. You know, I totally had one of those moments. But I was blue in away by how much everything relating to computers cost now, and a lot of it is supply and demand out of China and supply chain disruptions. And I totally understand the rational reasons why, but those are not always the reasons behind inflation. We've had the Fed pouring money into the economy for years now. So we are way over expanded on the money supply way over expanded and eventually that leads to inflation. It's economics and what happens first is everybody gets mad at the quote greedy corporations for raising their prices without blaming the greedy government for creating the problem in the first place, So we're going to talk about inflation, and I'm gonna keep your eye on it as my eyes on it. And I think that we all need to be paying attention to it because inflation is what kills economies. Inflation is what kills empires when you get right down to it. Because we deflate our currency or inflate our currency. Trying to buy and pay for all of the extravagant things are lazy citizenry demands. That's right. I called him lazy. But inflation is the first sign. But I'm not saying this is the end beginning of the end, but it could be we don't know. Very interesting article about lockdown cities, the cities that lock down the tightest All they seem to do was jack up their unemployment rates and kill their businesses. There is not a statistic statistically significant difference in their death rate than in states that have been open like Florida for a very long time. Florida's unemployment rate right now is lower than it was before the pandemic. Think about that for a second. Their economy is wide open. Ah, friend of mine just is was in Key west. She's in a pool with the hundreds of other people. None of them were wearing masks. It's fascinating to see fascinating to see, Um Legally, your employer can require you to have a vaccine. And I am interested to see how this takes hold because I know most business owners don't want to say you have to have a vaccine to come to work. Especially in this current labor economy, where people are not showing up for job interviews, and then they do get the job. They're not showing up for the jobs because maybe they're going to make more on unemployment or make the same. On unemployment and just stay there for a while. So we've got a situation now where employers are going to be faced with a question. Is it worth it to try and tell my people that they have to be vaccinated? And in some cases, you could make the argument that it's yes. And I would think nursing homes where a lot of the certified nursing assistance initially did not choose to get the vaccine. And I think that's a huge problem. Because now you've got people that can come in and infect older people who may be very vulnerable even if they get it after they have the vaccine. You know you can still get coronavirus after you're vaccinated. But the benefit of the Corona virus vaccine is that it lessens your case dramatically in younger people that's been seen to be very, very effective in people over 60. It starts to get less effective, though they're still saying great results. But if you have people who are already somewhat infirm Living in a nursing home. They're not at the peak of fitness. They could be susceptible to a very serious case that could kill them. And then you're talking about a liability issue, so I don't know. I mean, I just give me really interesting to see how this plays out. Yes, Dave. Yeah..
