I think there's two historical precedents to look at here. for these two players for For darwin thomson. The historical precedent is charge andric west. Who came back to the team. Several times After his initial departure And and you know performed fairly well in those roles when the chiefs needed help and the running back room. I think we could see thompson back those kinds. "I was super excited but after just one preseason game. My stance is now firmly shifted to yet. Oh yeah mckinnon's making the team if darwin's making it it's an fourth running back special teams guy. I just don't see him as having any chance to to surpass mckinnon after at least again. We're probably overreacting to one game. But based on what. I saw that one game. Yeah i think. I think mckinnon's a lock and i hope he does get some reps with the first team while take us into the wide receivers. You have some really interesting like you think. There's a real path year for doris fountain to not only maybe have a good chance to make the roster. You're like saying that maybe even more than that. Yeah we'll and again. I don't want to overreact. One preseason game because he come out next week and dropped And in a week ago okay. That was apparently just a one week thing. But my my whole point i was trying to get at is. It's not like there's an impossible mountain declined to get playing time at wide receiver for the chiefs. Because why do they want to get hurt. Men more involved. I really think he's more fit for like that third receiver slot role and that outside second receiver. Whether it's demarcus robinson byron pringle. Maybe cornell powell comes around all those guys are capable of playing that spot. But it's not like the chiefs are heavily invested in any of one of those guys. So if a guy like therese fountain just continues delight. Play great which. I thought he did on saturday night. It's not like they're like well. We can't take snaps away from demarcus robinson. Let you know what i mean. I just don't think that outside receivers spot has anybody. That's got like a a major claim to it. That is just untouchable. I give him a shot out there at that kind of x. Spot i think he's got the size to do it. He had good hands. He made some contested grabs i. I was really impressed in since kansas city wasn't able the sign anybody to kind of come in and compete for that spot. If you've got a guy in house that showing some promise man. I'm i'm willing to. "Right Which is not base which has not been the base During the spagnolo years but it has been the most used formation so kind of telling us. It's a weird thing now because like well then it's it's technically the base then right. What does the word base mean in. A you know what i mean. So it's the most used formation and you're seeing a lot of folks do this now across the league when they're doing evaluations articles and whatnot. It's it's more of the four down linemen the two linebackers and then you have the defensive backs and i actually liked this better. It almost was backwards for a couple of years. They were just continuing put out the four three and then they'll be trying to force guys in different spots. So i actually liked this better but yeah so chris. Jones more realistic derek. Nadi frank clark. Let's go to linebackers. Willie gain anthony. Hitchens are there. we also have okay so behind. Willie gay nick bolton during. Oh dan dory no daniel and our murray cobb behind anthony hitchens bend neiman darius harris and emmanuel smith and riley coal. This feels up and down right. I think during no daniel despite really not being a factor on defense is going to make this team once again as just that ultimate special teamer. I think that's it is interesting. That really gay is next to anthony. Hitchens for all the folks that were really worried about ben neiman being. That's about. I think ben even going to be playing quite a bit. But he's not going to be the starter per se. In what would be. The four to five were describing. And then mike uses listed as just a cornerback in reality. This is swamped sillage. Nina has been playing as what would be the nickel whereas mike us has been getting a lot of the nods on the outside. There's also competition. Though there for rashad fenton has been making a case mashad. Fenton is actually look good. These past few days on the outside playing against the top team. The andre baker is behind fenton in that and then behind ward and hughes. You have chris lemons. Many patterson. i'd dicaprio bootle. Zane anderson is among that abo-. Pk's is right behind. Mike hughes in one of the cornerback positions almost a second column. So i i like bo pete keys. I think he's starting to come along a little bit more. I don't think he's ready to have any real meaningful snaps. But as long as he's playing special teams. I see no that. Ot's isn't on this roster. I think by the end of this fenton could make a case to maybe get the nod over hughes but right now hughes is the other cornerback. I think that's the only telling thing at that position The thing i find fascinating is the presence of chris. Lambs behind Show various ward. Now this guy that chiefs had last year On the practice squad for most of the season he was activated Temporarily a couple of times the game day elevation as they called it last year right they will call it. this year. That that rule stays this year's best best we can tell So i find it interesting that they've got him behind ward at that left cornerback position And and and ahead of the andre baker Baker is in the third position behind steed and fenton on this depth chart. So i find that very interesting. Yeah that's worth noting. I didn't even catch the how high chris. Lemons was interesting quarterback position in the depth chart too because he's just might be the next three up in a sense of how who comes in first. We don't really know how it works. All right sage positions daniel sorensen entire in matthew. I think a little bit notable that one thornhill is behind. But i i was expecting that. Devon key is right behind tire and matthew. He's been getting some buzz. I think it's telling that key is ahead of what would be harmony watts and will park. We thought would also be in the mix and back of the safety room is marlin character and rodney clements. So i'm not a huge surprise sorenson and matthew been basically getting a ton of the reps when there's been two safeties out there when a third safety comes in it's been one thornhill devin key has been getting a lot of the dime safety first team reps which is really wild considering. He's an undrafted free agent and it's really tough. I remember when steve's bag nola was saying we're not even sure how much one thornhill a second round pick was going to play. And he was playing well and it's like but what does he have to do. And this is still early in training. Camp and devon key is already getting those dime safety wraps. He is getting third team reps and not really able to separate from. What is the third team defense. And he was asked. The enemy was asked about pal at today's press conference and be enemy said he's a rookie. Who has a good soul. That's his negatives. Eric vietnamese out about player. So i i'm not saying that cornell pal draft pick from this year's draft is gonna get cut but what it's done me. It would not at this point. But we are in august tenth august ninth august tenth recording august ninth that that's going to be released on august tenth so there's still room there so preseason games. He's not looked good is out. He has been the one draft pick that has has really looked like he doesn't belong and while andy. Reid didn't make this list. It's made by people who are in the building every day and have some kind of an idea which way the wind is blowing and they know the players see. That's like i said it. He has another two years on his contract. But in the rookie deals you can get extended after the third season. And so he can put himself in a position where maybe he plays so well. We're having that conversation next offseason about hardman and the potential to maybe extend right who knows not sure what it means but one of the things that i saw today that i found interesting well over the last couple of days is that dave tobe identified hardman as both his punt returner and kickoff returner And that's not something that has been the normal thing over the last well last season certainly hardman only return kickoff. Tope said that pringles gonna. That's what's weird about this depth chart because tope said pringles to kick returner the primary kicker now and then mccoll's in at both slots on us which is Which again goes into. How how seriously do you take it. We just found out the other day that pringles probably gonna be returning kicks to start the year and and and this is the thing that's weird about. It is that when i saw this. Today i gave a little more weight to the idea that that hardman was going to be on kickoffs to not but that was weird to me and he said today And the press conference that. Chiefs veterans arrived to training camp on the campus of missouri western state university in saint joseph. Where rookies injured players and quarterbacks have already been for three days chiefs head coach. Andy reid said. The chiefs are over ninety percent player. Vaccinations and that. Thirty players reported to the camp on friday including veterans in one thornhill taco charleston and de'andre baker. All working through injuries from last year. We'll get to patrick mahomes as turf toe in just a second but read provided a blanket statement on the other injuries to know for this football team just on the injury front. We've got some guys that are up here that will work de'andre baker taco charlton. One thornhill they'll be doing some activities up here in the in the next couple of days. So maliki dareen. He'll be period. knee acl. He's just rehabbing. That and armani watts wall so be up here with the. He had a foot fracture and is doing well. Just how long is is also proven. He's improving and doing really a great job with his rehab likewise he will not be up here for For this go. Round for the next couple of days as for the frank clark in his off the field situation read fully expects the big money defensive end to be among those players arriving in saint joe later today catching up on official transactions. He's on the non football injury list now to patrick mahomes. i think it'll be no restrictions. I've been training running. Throwing doing everything that i i usually do. And what was so good about going. Not as and doing those things are tested there. I realized i was good. And then when. I got back with bobby and started training in the off season with him I was able to do what i normally would do. Yeah patrick mahomes has good to go. When it comes to that turf toe surgery he had way early in the off season and the expectation is. He'll be rolling at training camp. It's wild to even rat my head around this. I don't know about you but patrick. Mahomes will enter his fifth season in twenty twenty one and he said that the defensive players on the club ensure that he remains more motivated than ever. I think it comes with the culture that we have in this locker room. When you're going up against guys like time matthew and chris jones every single day and they're talking trash you kind have to have that competitive spirit of you're gonna get dominated on the practice field so i think it just comes with the guys that you had around. You don't take a day for granted. I think we've we've learned that if we put in the work now that that's it will be at the end of the season where we want to be at. "I'll how picks up right where sammy watkins left off And i want to reiterate. I continue to think that michael hartmann is not an exact fit for sammy watkins x. type of position. I think they ideally want a bigger receiver there. We know what to marcus. Robinson is no offense to the fourth rounder. I think the chiefs have gotten the absolute most out of the marcus. Robinson talks about ceilings. I think the ceiling is super high for cornell pow and when it comes to byron pringle. We don't even really know with his ceiling. Is all we know when it comes to byron pringle as that when he's on the field when he gets a target when he has the ball in his hands he's been successful it's been a plus for the chiefs. Can he take that next step. Now that he's we think going to be getting the opportunities with sammy watkins out of the picture during training camp. Sammy watkins usually was healthy during training camp. So he was taking. A lot of the rap is a baltimore. Raven is completely gone now so now it is finally going to be that true wide open. Competition can byron pringle. Or i think darkhorse in cornell pal or if you wanna go dark horse at antonio calloway take advantage and make a case. Then this position for me who is going to be getting those targets when it comes to your fourth option on this offense even darker horse Jody fortson or joe fortson. That pringle is a guy who could has the physical traits to to fill that role that watkins had and he's shown that he's capable of making plays when he's given the opportunities and powell of course You know was fantastic In the end of last season in the end of the twenty twenty season. Now that this story has come out that brady had essentially a serious injury that wasn't on anybody's on their injury report all of last season when it should have been. "But i sort in tears right so i've got patrick mahomes as his own tier the his own category at the top of this list that i've got those players that could be considered amongst the nfl elite or some of the best of their position in the league Which are the next five on our list from orlando brown on up. Then you've got the starters that would be starters. Nfl team and then you get into the role players in the death positions. And that's where it sorta gets jumbled right so you could rank the role players in the depth players on this team a number of different ways. Any i've been neiman has been one of those key role players in the past. I guess he'd be hoping he's not a key role player in the future. Maybe that's why. I ranked him outside of the top thirty but i also have sort of special teams category. So obviously we none of us have the kicker or punter on this list was both very valuable important starting players on this team so i i have special teams sort of bound in in their own category below the the key role players on offense and defense but otherwise you might see a kicker on a partner higher up on this list so so yeah when you get into those fifteen to thirty range is a lot of depth it's a lot of projection And you can rank them on a number of different ways. I'm sure everybody out. There might have a slightly different list if they did the whole exercise themselves as well. Yeah i will say. I i think it might have been a mistake to not have butt-cover in the top thirty i i know he kinda struggled last year but kick and he has been very reliable on the long kicks and that's super super valuable to be able to kick fifty yard field goals not being in a good field position as an offense still able to get three points and so bucker should have made the top thirty it. We did have a question recently on this podcast about. Who would you rather see. Have a bad season ariza bunker or Ward for example. And if you think about it in those terms of the that sort of proxy for the value to this team right so you could cover up a charter ward. Having a bad season. But you couldn't cover up harrison bucker so maybe if you rank these again and you included special teams. Maybe they'd be in those those early. Twenty s range On this list to say that they're not as impactful as an every down linebacker for example. But you can't overcome a bad kicker as easy to could a cornerback. I'm surprised we don't have nick bolton analyst especially use a four future looking. I'm sure he's right on the edge. You know top thirty. I'm sure he's right there for you but You know. I i guess i guess you didn't have him over neiman. 'cause i did or i hadn't even over bolton which i'm kinda regretting already now i think about it more and more because i do think bolton can come in and play that situational role not exactly what neiman did but play enough snaps to have a similar value to neiman for the team and so maybe he shoulda cracked the top thirty. Because i do think bolton might play a little more than than we think right. Now i've got golden at thirty one so just outside the top thirty a it was a good point and trey smith as well you know those are potentially fast risers if and when they get the opportunity to play so i've got them as as newcomers that to keep an eye on noah gray cornell pal jerick mckinnon trey smith nick bolton and blake bell like all of those guys as the first five or six players right outside of the top. "One game like salary cap elite right right so where you can only do so many things in the offseason to improve your team if you're if you're picking and choosing which you have to do again with the salary cap league you say protect patrick mahomes because at the end of the day we've talked about it now for years chiefs are probably putting up thirty to forty points a game and so if you to spend on money. Let's protect patrick mahomes. Let's make sure that he has time to get to these weapons. Let's make sure that the chiefs can can score it will. And then if you're scoring a will defense becomes a lot more easier because you have turned the opposing team and to very much one dimensional and you could pin your ears back chased the quarterback and so on and so forth and so the greatest defense. It's gonna be reversed cliche but sometimes the greatest defense. This year's or i should say this ages. Nfl is a really really good offense. And so yeah. Maybe they didn't devote as many of their resources to the edge position. That offense could be as good as it was in two thousand eighteen. And if it is it. Changes the entire game even for the defensive side of the football. So we'll see how this plays out all right john. What's your number two position battle to watch. Well i think to me. It's cornerback Just because again. There's a lot of of interlocking pieces here I thought Steve spagnolo is comments about The cornerback battle the last time he spoke to us. We're very interesting. One point he said you know the guy who breaks through. That is if there's a guy who breaks through with these young players care fraud and that yeah I thought that was very interesting because You know we've talked about this before he. He really puts his heart on his sleeve and he tells us what he's thinking. That's something i really appreciate about. Steve spagnolo that says to me that they're not quite certain how this is going to play out but they feel like they have enough talented players that they can make it. Work somehow So i think that gives the edge to players like trevor ward for shod fenton and these guys who have done pretty well on the system and obviously luxurious need and my personal belief is that They're not going to feel okay. With some of these guys like mike hughes and deandra baker by the time this season begins. So we'll see a lot of stuff like spag all talked about in philadelphia where you've got this guy. That in some situations is a slot corner in other situations outside corner. I think we'll see that. At the beginning of the season and then as the season progresses or in players are injured will start to see things change. And we'll see more of the andre baker but you know it who knows how it could play out. It can be very interesting to watch in training camp. Now cornerback is not my number two battle to watch. But i appreciate the offering only because if you look at this roster and you look at the step chart you have one player at the cornerback. Room that is locked in to hit what his position is going to be. And that's areas ford on the outside right so like we know. Legitimate needs to play a significant role. But we don't really know what that role is writing and they're still figuring that out and so that's where it becomes an interesting training camp battle the watch because i truly think and stemming from your point about bagnall this is something they're working through. How does mike use fit in the mix. How does rashad shot. Fencing fit in the next jerry. Sneed guy the outside and he's just going to focus on snead island and not go into the slot where he is that one of the better positions players at the position as assad cornerback in the nfl. If you're doing that then suddenly you have advanced. Trust in someone. Like a mike. Us like a rashad fenton. How does deondraye. Baker fit in that mix jerry. Steed ended up staying in the slot. Because you're like you know what baker and ward are good on the outside and for areas ward who to a to an extent is an average to maybe slightly above average player for him to be the only player locked in at a certain position. Yes that does make the battle very much intriguing. Four chiefs training camp by number two position. Because i love offense offense guy wide receiver to. I'm just curious as to who is going to be the new sammy. Watkins i think the chiefs know what to marcus. Robinson is and i think that is somebody who has a role player for this team. If someone gets injured and i think it's going to be a battle between the rookie and cornell pal. I think byron pringles also going to be in that mix. I had mentioned antonio calloway. A dark corner stair. Marcus can't before that injury. They said we're playing the best football of his career. Who knows it could go a lot of different ways. And i think by extension. I've said this before. We sort of know pow the rookie going to be on the team. We know it's going to be robinson and hardman and hill and pringle the reason. I didn't mention hardman in that because i just don't think he fits into that size and weight. I know he's been getting some buzz as the sammy watkins guy. But i yeah. I'm not buying it. I'm not doing it whatever when i will say. Is we know those five right. We know those. Whose number six is there a number seven. We've mentioned on the podcast before it doesn't mean one less running back and then all of a sudden you have a seventh wide receiver very very intriguing position for the first time in a while for me a heading into training camp. I think you're right. I think it's about the number six. And maybe the number seven player and it makes you wonder whether a guy like gary deeter is even going to be able to hang onto a job in the practice squad With but that brings up the thing that we've i think mentioned before that you know he is somebody that they might like to have on the practice squad specifically because of the way he practices in the fulfil role that they see on other teams sometimes. Really well i think it's easy for us to forget that the practice squad is first and foremost the practice squad. These guys that you need in order to run your practices the way you want to. It's not necessarily About replacing guys. Who were injured at cetera. Although that's certainly part of it but But you may it makes you wonder whether dealers going to have a chance to stay with the team this year because of that battle for the sixth or seventh wide receiver. Because there's gonna be some guys are going to want to hang onto even if they don't make the fifty three and you know what i'm looking at the roster as we speak here perfect time to say joe fortson now or never man. This is because he's been as big target and and it's it's i believe it's thirty or try. Try for this. We are we serious about this guy who is been a bust right now in nicole hairy it with the patriots now granted. Some of that quarterback play in year. Two that he faced last last year with cam and brian. Hoyer isn't really the great thing to help you out with. But a guy who's been a bust eighty-six targets in the last two years since he's been in the league. And then josh gordon who who who just cannot stay on the field and hell. I don't even know how good he is anymore. Right now he. I mean he hasn't even played long enough to even know how good it's been a long time. Eight nine years since he led the nfl in receiving yards. I we are not in this desperation mode that it feels like every week. Please tell me why the chiefs need to go. Take a look at these two guys. Please sell me on this garbage certa all that you try to sell us on going out there and getting one of these guys josh. Gordon's your dude. Well yes. I love. He's had just hasn't had the reps over the last several years to maintain the level of athleticism and play that you need to succeed in the modern day. Nfl but if we're talking about we want another camp body and we want to bring in another wide receiver and see what happens. I'd be very interested in bringing in josh gordon. Especially over nikial harry. I understand the kill. Harry is only twenty four years old but he is just not looked like a competent. Nfl wide receiver. The patriots haven't done a lot to help him out but he hasn't been very good in the. Nfl doesn't create separation in any way not interested. I wasn't really that interested in him as a prospect. I am on the josh. Gordon train because i wanna see as many weapons as possible with patrick mahomes. Maybe we believe fifth round wide receiver. Cornell pal is the answer or mccoll's finally going to take a huge step forward on the outside which is out of position for him. But i'd like to see. Calloway and you have antonio calloway already on your roster so i think what they have right now is probably barring some sort of trade or a surprise cut after camp what they're going to have going into the season and that is a little bit concerning because what you're looking at right now as tyreek hill which is great but then mccoll hardman damarcus robinson cornell powell byron pringle and then probably one of marcus camp garrick deeter antonio calloway or daria shepherd. One of those guys probably going to be the final roster spot where the wide receivers that just doesn't inspire a ton of confidence from me. The only guy that i feel good about his tyreek hill and then everybody else is a massive question mark in when i read earlier. This week from nate taylor of the athletes and i quote from the voluntary wait workouts in the teams mandatory minicamp mccoll hardman appears to be in position to have a breakout season as he is expected to have the role previously held by sammy watkins. That's terrifying for me. I i don't think he's a guy that profiles to play in that role sammy. Watkins was a prototypical x. Wide receiver where he can line up. On the line of scrimmage and beat man press coverage that is the opposite of what mccall hardman profiles as in fact the only guy on the team. Maybe you got two of them. That can do that. I think is cornell powell and byron pringle and i don't think those guys are starting level wide receivers at least not right now so i. I don't think they have that guy on the roster today. Listen i. I think as upset before that is something that is being overblown using the words terrified a mike that that feels a pitch strong. That feels a bit strong to use. Sorta josh gordon. And i i hope he hooks up with chip and joanna gaines down in waco. And maybe they can you know do some kind of work with him. Maybe he can help build some houses and work at magnolia farms. I think they do want to roll some cap space over. I think they do wanna keep matthew for another couple of years at least so. I think that they're working towards Making a deal with him for a new contract But we'll just have to see. Yeah i think my main question when it comes to that is as we're getting our our which national park. That position byron pringle has been waiting for this opportunity for years. Now and every time he touches the football. It seems like good things happen. So i wonder if this is more of a pal versus pringle thing than a hardman thing like i still look at hartman in that hardman would hate this if be heard it. And who knows if you're listening. I think to see what they do to replace sammy. Watkins and on powell. I think adds to that. Fourteen is interesting to me. So I'm going to my team That surprised me. And I understand that Just one player is really what matters for this draft class. And you could end up being the best by far. Trevor Laurence going the Jaguars, But you look at the subsequent picks after that, And there were some some the There were some that before to me just a little bit. First of all, Travis E T. A in the first round. I'm part of the Mel Kiper School where first round running backs are rarely gonna earn significant praise from me, especially when you have a backfield that include Chance Robinson, who was phenomenal for them. Last year at the Illinois State, an undrafted free agent, and then you sign Carlos Hyde to be a power back to a two year deal this offseason. Overmyer conceded that the player there really one of the pick number 25 was good areas. Tony who would have understood a little bit more. There you go down from there. This was a draft that was defined by a lot of things, but one of them includes lack of medical information. The Jaguars went on to use relatively premium picks on locker. Plus, the first round running back had me a little bit were confused on Jacksonville. But again, Trevor Laurence might be enough to make any other draft pick on their roster this year. Sort of a back burner fun very best, and I know talking to urban a lot leading up to the draft. Didn't think that Et en would even be available in that 23 25 range because there was a lot of e think two different people that I talked to in the league had heard that buffalo was trying to trade up from 30. We are officially in draft season. No combine this year but the pro days are underway and we have a lot to get to on today's show. Yeah we have a lot to get to because of the first official week abroad as we're seeing guys run get some measurable and it's important because without a combine unlimited access to the players these measurements and metrics really really mattered. No doubt we're going to have the clemson pro day. Some updated information on that our evaluation of some of their top players. Coming up here in just a second but do want you to stick around for later on the show because what we've been doing with pro on prospect where we take somebody that's at the professional level a player that's been compared to a current draft prospect. And we get a chance to have him evaluate the college players. So we're going to do that with jk dobbins. We won't tell you what running back he's going to be evaluating. We're also going to take the jets and door move the sticks body shop and see if we can't try and fix them a wisdom ideas with free agency as well as the draft so be on the lookout for that a little bit later on in the show. But let's kick things off your first big pro day and that takes place at clemson buck where we have some real interesting players really highlighted. I would say by travis n. who's in my opinion. He's atop brian back. I believe the is the number two running back in this draft class but a pretty special football player. Yeah he's a very very special football player and look. He didn't disappoint you. Comes in weighing two hundred. Fifteen pounds runs reported times in the four range. You get a chance to see him. Run around and catch. The ball made some great catches displaying his hands. And so it really comes down to now when you check off the boxes for him. Where's a great fit for him because he certainly is in every dow running back. He's one of those new school running. Back that can play in any system is really just a matter of when will you hear his name when the tag off the board i talked to scout was there and he said on his watch she had him at four four one and at four four three which is plenty fast he did two hundred and fifteen pounds and talking to some folks that have visited with him the other day he'd got up to eighteen to nineteen and training. I think he really wanted to add some bulk for context. He played around two. Oh to nine to ten. And that range so i think adding some of that bulk probably's what produced that low four. Four time you heard about previously was he would run in a low four threes and you see that speed on tape it translates and so when i'm trying to figure out who does this guy remind me of what i'm studying him. I go back to jamaal charles when he was coming out of texas. I see a lot of the same things when the foot is in the ground and he gets up field. There's a special burst there and there's some sneaky strength as well you guys bounce off him once he gets out in the open field yeah. The comparison is very valid. one Running style very similar one cup runners. But then the way that i envision it's being utilized in the passing game screens swings things that allow him to touch the ball in space where he has a little more room to dazzling create jamaal. Charles made a living at that as a pro runner. I think travis at the end can certainly follow in those footsteps are. Let's let's get onto some of these other clemson players got a couple of intriguing. Wideouts here when you look at amari rogers and cornell powell the times again from a scout the scout amari rogers was four five four four five. Oh cornell pal four five four four five three. But we're seeing amari rogers here on the screen book not not just lined up in the slaughter outside at this pro you see him actually lined up. Get some running back wraps. Yeah i think what happened with the maurie rodgers when you look at him physically. He's built like a running back contacted two hundred and twelve pounds. it's huge four slot receiver. And then you put him in the workout. You put them in running back. You can begin to talk yourself answering the possibility of him being not quite as dynamic as an antonio gibson but being one of those players that you utilize in a utility role maybe this lot maybe the third down back out of the backfield catching passes but he certainly is a weapon. And i think what scallops are trying to do is give him the best opportunity to get on the field so the offense coordinator can see with his imagination. You know what amaury rods could be very very valuable player for us when you watch him at clemson you see the quick hitters. You'll see him work in the same. He's a really really tough kid. We talk it'd be built like a running back. Also get him the ball on some jet sweep so to be able to line him up at one one snap in the slot. Hit him with the jet sweep. You can line them up in the backfield and ralph with him out of the backfield to me and gives you a lot of variety of what you can do with. His skill set also can help you return some kicks if you need that is well. How about cornell powell and what you saw from him. I mentioned the time. Four five four four five three. What did you think of him as a player. When i think he's a body beautiful athlete. You see him. He is big broad shoulders. You like to think that he would be able to do. The dirty work really came into his own this year. More of a mover has a bill that you talked about those times into four for our brains. That's about how he played tape. I think he's another big body. Why y receiver that you throw into the mix maybe third or fourth receiver who also gives you some contributions on special teams. Well you mentioned special teams. He did it at clemson. This somebody had to wait his turn behind a long list of quality wide receivers. They've had their dabble. Sweeney's done a wonderful job of recruiting that position. But i've seen them you see him as a gun or on pot where he's outstanding that toughness translates to special teams. And you don't have to wonder about it. You can actually see him do that on the tape. He's a little bit tight. I think you can see that through some of the workouts as well. But i think he's gonna end up going on day three but i'm with you. I think you try tried find a role third fourth receiver and he's going to have value on fourth downs because of his ability to cover kicks. So it's gonna be interesting class. There i would add jackson carmen. The offensive tackle from clemson did not work out. He had back surgery right after the season. So we'll see how that impacts him as he goes to the draft process most likely still a day two pick. They're coming out of clemson. Really one of the few really good offensive. Linemen clemson has produced. It's been the one whole program are let's get. Let's keep the receiver talk going here baucau. There's so many wideouts in this draft class as we saw last year really the last couple years again. We have it this year. Have nineteen receivers. That i have you know top three round grades on so i figured let's go day one day to day three and just highlight maybe not the best guy but but somebody that you really really have an affinity for. You'd stand on the table for you ready to roll. Let's start let's start day one day one receiver that you could fight for in the room. Well i'm gonna give you yeah was a borderline day. One receiving i'm say terrorists marcher from lsu and the reason. Why terrorists more so to me is intriguing this year to step in and really occupied the lead road. Marchetto is and there. obviously justin. Jefferson had moved on to the national football league and he responded with a nice year over. Seven hundred. Receiving yards has. Ten touchdowns has twenty three touchdowns in his career. So when you think about gas who can put the ball into paint who can make plays down to red zone terrorist. Marshall.
