ESPNLA Mornings with Keyshawn, LZ and Travis HR 2
"Show looking at us kind of funny. There's keyshawn. See? But I know I know I'll know if you know like like if I'm yours. You because you're Keyshawn Johnson football player or steering for other reasons out. No, if you know me from the athletic world, or you're staring at me because you just know me from something. I mean, you don't know me you wondering I can tell because typically you approaching me as an athlete of some sort knowing me for television radio athletically. There's a smile that comes with it. I let it brightens. You makes you wanna say what's up, you know, or e- keep you know, you look a fight. Look like, what are you doing around here? John help you Mr. Johnson. Yes. Doc gates birthday today. Yes. I knew dot. Yeah. I don't like this job. Yes. How are you there there? We don't play with Dr king saying, see the your. When you do the. Yes. Nice to see you. It's my favorite thing. He's good at it. Overseers always our guys this all the time. Why do people talk like ten why? Why? Like that. Like, our you. Let's talk. No, you don't talk like that. No. You don't you before we started doing the show together because time running I'd say, hey, how you doing like nice Travis. When you start talking stereotypes. I stereotype as Orange County perfect. Everything is perfect. The sweater around the shoulders you're on your way to your yacht. You know, do you ever do that put the so? Never done that never. Start this week, so scar guessing. You know, what else key is good at though. Well, here's an interesting headline Travis in in l z. So obviously, China obviously, China hold on. Okay. They don't play. Okay. No. When it comes to crimes. So a young man. Stop being young man was sitting. He's a Canadian young man was sentenced to death originally on execution originally. He was sentenced to life in prison for trying to smuggle meth between China and Australia. Okay. We're gonna give you life in prison. And then they came back and say you got life in prison. Then it came back. They did an appeal, and they said is too light. We go give you death. So on a second. I don't understand the Chinese jurisprudence system. Very well. But they convicted him send him to life in prison and then doubled back again, it's because let's put on put him down. No this the the country appealed country. Yet any to get enough day death just because he decided to make a little money. I guess they said. Somewhere else? I guess. Bad day. He's from Canada eastern candidate is. So they have some issues going on with the Canadians in China there in some political. Well, I'm sure he'll can Canadia Canada is probably somewhat up in arms about having one of their citizens put to death. I mean, it should be armed about having citizen go to another country and try and well that mobile math. Sure is probably saying. China. Hold on. Sorry. Everything is banned Rite Aid. It shouldn't have been doing. It shouldn't have been doing drugs the period smuggling. But you don't killing he started citizens. I mean, I guess if you look at it from that perspective. So if you saw of us over there sellers from we doing it. China man. To the Chinese awesome. In other words, we bond them better be very hairy lucky. Sunglasses, and what was it four hundred sixteen four hundred eighty nine pounds trying to kill people, but some Gucci sunglasses. So they gave him life in prison at twenty two thousand dollar fine. Originally, you are listening to case being Los Angeles says. Yeah. That's bad news. So you Team Canada. No. I'm not team. Anybody just? Dane so marinated official yesterday he declared for the NFL draft, which means that the as they're going to have to pony up more money if they want to keep him out. But he he is going in. Todd mcshay put him on his top thirty two list for the first time. Here's what he wrote. Sure, he has limited experience just fourteen starts. They're still that. Holy Michael play baseball thing. But he's an exceptional athlete. I think is the most athletic quarterback prospect since Michael Vick in terms of quickness and speed he possesses a quick trigger and good arm strength income process. The play extremely fast his style fits today's NFL chiefs, but size does leave a lot of questions including whether he can stay healthy. He threw for four thousand two hundred sixty one yards. Forty TD's only seven picks this for the Sooners culminating with a Heisman Trophy great athlete baseball player Heisman Trophy winning quarterback. But the size is we don't know, exactly. How big is five eight five ten somewhere somewhere south of six feet. So we've seen some quarterbacks that are not six foot guys. Whether it's drew Brees or Baker Mayfield. Russell wilson. We've seen some guys that are quote unquote short have success. How big of a deal is it? It's a big deal to me. If I'm if I'm picking him. He's not my first round pick it. Quarterback spot football is a big man's game. In general statue is. I mean, it just it is when you're talking about five nine maybe I'm giving fine. I'm giving fi ten when you're talking about five nine how many pounds, can you pack into a five nine guy realistically athletic wide, ninety to ninety pound do taking an abuse calling. The let's say rock this calling one ninety five to Costa two hundred. Okay. That's a thick five nine guy, by the way. Very, okay. So calling go one ninety okay. Avenue three hundred pound or consistently pounding on you play after play week after week. You're not going to survive that. But then on top of that you're getting hit by sue and air Donald simultaneously at the same pounds. A guys that's six hundred pounds. You're not going to survive that at some point you're going to fall apart. Not only that when you're talking about a five nine quarterback the all fits Lima. Can you imagine trying to throw around with worth? Now, he had arms that hill to the floor ground. Then he has a little more. You know ability to get the ball up over the top. Because you can't throw every pass to Elaine. I have the luxury of plan with. Doug Flutie in the Pro Bowl. Now, I was coming from Vinny Testaverde six six everything coming over the top. I could see the ball come out. I could see it literally. Like, a baseball player can see the stripes. I can see the rotation of the football. The release of the ball snap of the wrist all of those sort of things on certain routes our run that wasn't necessarily a timing situation. When I got to the Pro Bowl, and I played with Doug Flutie. I'm running routes, and I'm like wearing the hell is the ball. Comes out of nowhere like a jug machine. I couldn't see quarterback is the ball shoot out of a hole in. I'm still in that store hardest thing for a good receiver. I don't know about Obama was before Goodwin to see in. So I don't necessarily see how he could be successful. On Sundays understand. Oh, look what he did in the pros in college. Oh, he's following Baker Mayfield. But I would just slow down. Because Baker Mayfield got a long ways to go to he gave us some splashes, and we'd like his energy. And he told you Jackson, go suck air get all that. Was it not? Okay. Well, I use the eggs so. So we got a slow now on him. But Kyla Murray is an interesting prospect is just not one for me at the spot that they rank he met he needs to Google this name him and his mama sit down exa computer type in Charlie ward and go, you know, what I think Charlie ward made the right decision. See I don't Charlie world with any bitty. He was bigger than junior six one six one. You know, he was he was listening. You know, it was he was listed as six one. He was small. He was a Heisman Trophy winner. Could play NFL wasn't nearly as good of basketball as basketball player solid. What five eight years old decades long time over a decade New York with the Knicks? I was gonna say including plan with the next and getting to the NBA finals. I'm pretty sure that considering that he had to quit basketball because of injuries you can imagine. What would have happened have eighty bitty guy hitting NFL? I don't know if he would have lasted over a decade trying to play quarterback if he had three tire from basketball and physicality of basketball after eleven year, but see. I understand what you're saying about Charlie work, the problem with Charlie ward in the National Football League is he wasn't accepting as a black quarterback back. Then there was no there was no issues that now as a football player or if he shows of now he'd never want picking a draft. Really? Absolutely, absolutely. No, charlie. Ward was ridiculous in college. If you break six one if but you don't I drafted eighty biddies. No, it's sing on different. Five six listed as six oh shoes off. He's brought down Charlie while might have been listed tall. And that though he could have really truly been listened to six to. Well, we hear no long MC. Merton Hanks not quite as. Was just smooth with it. But that was they wasn't accepting are here of the black quarterback as accepting as it is. You look at a guy like Cuyler Murray, and you because Baker Mayfield just showed up, and I'm with you. I think that they're still more that you need to see. But he was successful as a rookie. You you look at drew Brees is going to hall of fame. You look at Russell Wilson's pregnant up in the hall of fame. You're looking you're looking at these guys, and you talk yourself into all of those guys instead of all the other guys that don't make it because there's a couple of you can point to say, hey, look Russell Wilson, by the way. Russell Wilson's a lot bigger than Tyler Murray. I bet you Russell Wilson's five ten five eleven he's he's he's may not be as tall definitely thicker calling five eleven. Okay. But the point is is that you there's a reason that all these scouts want these guys to be six four two hundred twenty pounds be able to see her because that's what works more often than not doesn't mean that it can't work the other way. But there's a reason that they go in looking for more exhibit. There's far more under six foot failures at the quarterback spot. The nary is six four news assure do sixty and Russell Wilson hit at the right time with the right coach on the right team. He okay. That's why fail to Seattle because nobody else wanted to touch him. Everybody else was scared of you. Drew brees. He connected right on target with which paint. Because Nick same is said. No, I like big. Yeah. I want big quarterback. He had a shoulder issue. Nick saving. It wasn't like running the still figuring out because he didn't believe Nick saving wants big quarterbacks because we saw the success that bigger Mayfield had. And I understand that Lamar Jackson is a lot bigger than Kyle taller because you took it played different physical. But similar games in the sense. They're both fast. They're extraordinarily athletes that somebody for civic somebody's gonna take him in the first round, you might not do it. But feels like somebody's going to say, you know, what it worked for Jackson. It's working for Mayfield. We've seen a work for Wilson. We've seen what take let's take shot takes one. God. I think they'll be somebody out there that gets fired. That's okay, though. There'll be somebody out there. Look, I'm not saying that he can't play on Sundays. And I'm not saying that he won't be a star. On sundays. What I'm saying is I'm not taking him in the first round at this is just not going to do it as my quarterback. I can't do it. Here's milk, hyper junior saying that. I've never seen anything like Cuyler Murray before and is a five eight and a half five nine five nine and a half. We've never had that before in terms of an early first round pick mid first round pick the expected to be successful starting quarterback be that light and that size. That body is not Russell Wilson. Drew brees. These certainly not Michael Vick. He's not doesn't have that body type that somebody's Baker Mayfield. So I think this is something unique to the position unique to this higher rating. Until the draft. He said I didn't even hear mill. But he's saying the same thing said you you're talking about his height. There's only so much a muscle mass. You could pack on to that body in talking about getting hit on a consistent basis by you know, sometimes you might be took to the ground by nine hundred pounds. Yeah. I'll read. Oh, no imagine running out of bounds is so do like air Donald coming full. Steam in hitting you heard the hurt not getting up her. I don't think I wanna play football. And not even a big, dude. Like that. How about somebody like Jean Markham Jenkins coming out of the second a bullet like a bully? Yeah. Raves. Coming up on Sunday. Here's why it's going to be different this time. We'll tell you next happy birthday. King junior bottles birthday. No. The music that they played in a. Well, this is Martin Luther King. That's right. Your man he makes a joke oddly enough you to is the artist, but it's about Dr king. Also, Dr king's birthday, there you go. Got it. His actual birthday today that the government designated, but his actual birthday. I mean, they gave us some we had to fight to get that come on. Now. That's the problem people like you and not accepting be happy. Be happy. Never be happy. Never be setup. He would have been ninety one years old today. No ninety no. You told me at work here. Is there year doesn't change that? He was born. I can do the math. It's on the rundown. Right. That's the only been ninety one. It's not on the Rosie was born in nineteen twenty nine. So that would make ninety knuckleheads a one there's wages. Disloyal heads. On day. I'm not gonna go trust this, but say the great Martin Luther King's birthday. Is brought to you by Jaguar Land Rover Newport Beach off to seventy three toward see visit Land Rover Newport Beach dot com. Land Rover above and beyond. What do you think about that? Weatherman losses job for Saint Martin Luther the Coon. I should have been fired. I mean that doesn't seem like a hard call. Yeah. I don't think he should have been oh gosh. We're gonna political here. Medical segment, it's not political at all after tease physical. We go one on the rundown. Nosy? Thank goodness. You you know, I don't tolerate stuff like that. Just don't do you believe in accident. I think he probably acts on air like accent that it slipped out on accident or do you got tongue-tied Tong tongue-tied when I went back and listen to it. Like some other people. Yeah. But I wouldn't even go there. All right. So the Rams and the saints played week nine of the NFL season. Saints won the game by ten points. Rams. First loss of the season. Kinda started that middle six games with the Rams were less than their best six things have changed from that game to what's coming up on Sunday afternoon. According to Rams wire I'm gonna run down all six of these really quick you guys tell me which one you think is the most important and why this might go different number one. They have C J Anderson is now a member of the Rams number two Sheldon rankings is out that of course, is the best interior linemen Ford the saints towards achilles. He's out. Keep to leave is back. That's number three number four down. Dante Fowler juniors. Fulltime starter? He's become a regular part of that defense. Number five Cooper Cup is hurt. And number six is Ted Ginn is healthy and playing well, I would I would say one C J Anderson foot for the Rams to would be to leap. Three would be the de Lima from New Orleans rankings rankings four would be Fowler Cup or gin Fowler. Five. Would be gene six will be Cup Cup is at the end. Thin charity. I it certainly not at the top for me. I think that cups jerk Goth has been a different quarterback since Cooper, that's fine. But the Rams at thirteen four Janury four note he cannot fourteen three seven to win. Kind of the Dallas one, okay? There. They've won since Cooper Cup. So any that big of a deal? No, you want to push it up. But no, not you know, quite understand that there some energy in the room. That's not what I was doing. That I do believe there are moments still in which you can tell that he would like his safety blanket provisional question about that. But my point is it didn't take away from what the Rams were able to accomplish. Yes. The Rams weren't because coober couples there they they were not all of a sudden going to be the number one seed over all they were not, you know, because they may be. They didn't lose any meaningful game by not having him in though. Okay. Let's stop right there for second. Because I wonder if he's there Chicago, and he's running more those intermediate routes if he's there against Philadelphia, and he has they have another weapon there because in both of those games. Josh Reynolds, really didn't do a whole heck of a lot Rams in the Rams as a whole do a high. I agree. But when Goth was under duress most of the season the guy that he went to more often than not was Cup. And he was under duress like crazy in both of those games and Cup wasn't there. I'm not saying that they win both of those just say I'm saying as a whole overall the Rams still accomplished. Yeah. What they needed to accomplish to get to the Super Bowl possibly in s with him out of the lineup. Now, he certainly is in that six category. But I just don't put him ahead of the reason I put a get ahead of him. Because now you have explosive weapon on the field for drew Brees. That can lift it coverage for Mikey come under need for Kamara to do what he needs to do the real. I put the decline in the head of him because that's the middle of the feel with where C J Anderson girly can run the reason I put to leave in there is because now he gets an opportunity face all pro and Mikey and try to figure out how to slow him down says he has such a great game against a Marcus Peters. The reason I put C J Anderson him is because all of a sudden here's a newfound guy who gives us a one two punch out of the backfield. Those are all the reasons I think you have the same number one. And that's the tha leaves the game time. Yeah. I always go to defense because when two teams combine the scored ninety points eighty points. You know, you're looking like going with clearly scoring wasn't an issue for either team. I understand that some of the options may not be here may not be as healthy. I get that. But I don't think that the issue for either seems about the offense is about defense for the Rams they give thirty five first half points. You know, what else might be number seven on this list? If those are the six things that Rams wire has the seventh might be. That Marcus Peters is coming into this game, particularly salty with something to prove remember, this is what he had to say directed at Sean Payton after the saints beat the Rams in week nine. I'm paying talking don't seem so. Hear about like, we was saying them to keep talking and hope you see some. And do we don't have a nice little all the he's coming. Go. No, you feel me. Okay. I do you Chris. Just checking the years, there's commission point you know, the we talked about yesterday. He's he's legitimate. Lynn, again minister Desta northern California minute east Oakland in Oakland. But but that's what's up though. He he's approaching it as a business. He knows what this is. He knows his Sean Payton disrespected him, and he remembers that in the back of his mind. So he'll see shopping. He'll see Mikey again. He'll see the New Orleans Saints again, but they'll see him also. And what he has to be careful is is not to get so wrapped up in post game press conferences, and what was said about him several weeks ago. There's a there's a line between coming show and playing with emotion. There's a line and coming in with edge and say, I'll I'll show you planning absolute. But then there's that you can get you can get those guys on till? That's why you get them because they're so mad. They're seeing stuff that's not their ghost ghost just chasing go. They've they've got an anger level. How did it work out? Beat ask anybody. How often do you make a good decision when you're super angry not? Guys like that just had it out for me. And I laugh to myself because I could just you know, you start playing back in your mind the corner dominated no. But they were good, sir. -taining them. We're fighting trash talked. Oh, always look book books fine. Those guys Miami. They just like the trash talk. But it was a guy name Corey fuller who played for the Minnesota Vikings in. He was good. But he was just a you could get in his brain to the point where you make share tears because he was talking so much trash to him at the beat him. A couple of times in the team may start telling you, I remember. Kid McAllister that played in in Baltimore. He was so wrapped up the he implant against me in talking crazy that I could do anything to him to the point. Ray Lewis had just Kersee. He got rate occurs. This was after this is after this was after that, the the revelations. Yeah. Nobody is. Nobody knows on according to Vegas. The Rams have the biggest hill to climb Super Bowl. Did they get wrong? We'll tell you next. Music to sit as you little shot of Ozzy on a nervous days. It never ever need. This tuesday. Right here. Osborne. Yeah. See what how do you listen to this? I like it like where where are you? Hold on. Here comes the hook Dr work. Less when Chris dances like that. What do you? How do you? Do you driving your car to listen to it just sitting at home on the back? Scar. You know, that's not the right music. I don't know who listen to anything for any reason. Jim. Difference on at the gym. I probably would probably if it's on at the gym, I lift lift to this workout to this in not even know what it is just too background back when you used to work out what kind of songs were on. I used to work. Wow. Are you calling me fat? No. Okay. All right. So Super Bowl two weeks from this sun. It's just a little bit less than three weeks away. Four teams have shot saints. The Rams the chiefs and the pats. And according to the odds makers the team that has the longest shot to get there. The Rams plus three fifty which means you bet one hundred you win three fifty they have their they have the longest odds. The saints are at plus one seventy five the chiefs plus two seventy five and then the pats are the closest to the Rams at plus three thirty three. So the Rams the home teams are the favorites. But the saints are a much more prohibitive favorite than the chiefs. Did is that right? You see the most likely to get there would be chiefs. No number one. That'd be the saints. Chiefs pats Rams, see I would put the Rams in front of the pats. They're more likely to win the pats. Why I just feel like I just feel like when you look at them and. The way that they played in New Orleans despite having a banged up Cooper Cup despite not having to leave in the lineup. I still thought that the Rams had a fair shot a winning that game. If it Mike in score and in it's different. It may have come down to a different situation. The Riems on the run in the second pulled away from them. When once he scored game was kind of you know, it was a to score game at that point. So it was kind of like out of the question. The New England Patriots on roll in the playoffs in Kansas City with a hot Pat Mahomes. It's just a different different feel for New England this year, not gonna count them out. But at the same time, I think they have a steeper hill to climb to get to the Super Bowl by having to go to Kansas City. This game was in New England different different the pats. Are there two different teams? They're lost. They're the only team in the league that didn't lose an in gronk is not a weapon that you know. Have to really go to gets now like opposed to what you did several years ago. And I know that this isn't the only thing that goes into figuring out these odds, but if you're just looking at who performed the best a week last week ram. It's a ram the Rams in the divisional round of the four teams that won those games. If you just looked at the performances that all of these teams put up relative to what you expected them. The Rams I thought were the most complete team. They ran the ball. Jared Goff was had a clean game. They had excellent defensive performance that across the board. The Rams did a good job say Cowboys where the team that we all felt comfortable with the Rams beating through. Yeah. You could also say New England was, you know, New England deal what they put it on just they were New England. But the Rams you never felt like the Cowboys are going to beat the Rams. You know what I'm saying? There was no filling the Cowboys. We're going to beat the Cooper at that. Touchdown their heads seven to three. Felt that the. You feel that you know team without a coach or a quarterback could possibly come in and beat the Rams, and it's just not gonna happen. But but. The cowboys. It's great. But when you sit right and you looking at the Philadelphia Saint game you sitting back and you on the edge of your seat pretty much. Yeah. The entire game. Look, I know that you say if nuts were candy butts, or whatever that thing is that could be anything. But the fact of the matter is this. The eagles were on the move. If all Sean Jeffrey doesn't have that both hands. We know. There was never the chargers were never in the game. The colts were never in the game. The Cowboys are never in the game. The eagles were in the game at the end and a big mistake cost. But you know, what? These odds also say guys also says that if the Rams were to make Super Bowl they would be underdogs to both the chiefs and the Patrick's patriots excuse pantry. It stays renamed. That the same thing. I thought the one was about the is to get to. And then there'll be another one winning. No because that's still you can make the bet now who's gonna win the Super Bowl. That's what this is for. So this is basically take even if the Rams win they still wouldn't be favored over the chiefs or pay neutral say on a neutral field. I take the chiefs. But the patriots blow to patriots out to mean. So here are the remain think. I don't mean to go over you. But I don't think that the patriots wide receivers going get opening to leave and Peters. I just don't see. So the reasons me, okay, we're trying to figure out why the Rams are the longest shot, according to Vegas it. Plus three fifty is it just come down at Chris guy Goth or do the Vegas guys. Look at this and say gothi you breeze Mahomes Brady in one category. Goffin another is that why they're golf. I don't think it's a huge golf deal. But I think you also look at girlies banged up girl. Gurley at a book fifteen it was a. If it's such a thing of quiet one one fifteen it wasn't a, wow, man. Look at him. It was it was a hobbling. I'm kind of hurt. Hey Anderson was crushing guys. No. But it doesn't matter when you when Utah girly. You don't come out. You don't rotate top dogs playoff games, don't rotate especially with somebody that just added to the team for weeks ago. You don't rotate is just doesn't happen for yards says it, but it doesn't matter this. Okay. No, I tell you the reason he played a significant role the way he play is because girly wasn't one hundred per level. They need to be in. You can make some money on the Rams plus three fifty right now. L Z's top ten. Rabbi buoy? If we're fifth risk. No, I'm gonna stop right there. I almost got the first one wrong along the way. Excited to big day. Yeah. What's going on? It's time for your top ten. Well, as you know, Travis and key today is the great Dr Martin Luther King junior's birthday, Martin Luther King Luther k. Okay, non-positive remember year that stuff to give us. It was like man, I never going to Arezzo. Well, the only decided to make it a holiday in Arizona when the NFL threatened to pull the Super Bowl now. Okay. What are the words? It got him to move came out by the time. I get there. Zona wou- you remember that? I was like, ooh. That makes me feel violent. Don King made the top ten. No, no. Yeah. Yeah. He me talking famous, goodness, home and ALI'S. Is he still a promoter? He does heavyweights which are bigger in Europe and things like that. But it's not not in America. They're not as popular. So he's still in boxing. He's heavyweight so okay. The Rams did some work against the Cowboys in the trenches. The man that was there on the sidelines to Markle far.
2001 Week 13: Patriots vs Browns
"This is Christine Brown. And while I have to listen to this podcast as my motherly duty. You have the choice. Not My sons and of course Michael sometimes say some naughty things trying to be funny but really just being stupid. You still want to listen. Go RIGHT AHEAD. I am not your mother. Welcome back to the pages dynasty podcast. You made it to week thirteen. Well we have not sure anybody's listening anymore. But we have a special guest with us today but before we get to him. We have Mike and Greg on the show tonight. Snow Steve. How're you doing? Fantastic darn well. I should let one at a time. I knew better or graceful also with us we have Connor Ireland's who to me sounds like a name of Conor McGregor in an off licence. Mma game but I assure you he's not connor. How's IT Goin'? While I think my name kind of sounds like someone who grew up as an Irish kid who's cheered for the patriots for burned tire life back during the The Ben Coates drew bledsoe or those other guys. There's other guys guys huge fan fan grant back in those days. I don't know at Greg Remembers this. 'cause he's just a one but The Boston Globe used to do a poster of a specific player every Sunday night and no one had been more than coats posters on their walls Than I did so Greg Fuck with me when you can remember. Nineteen ninety-six is. I know I can't hang them up at market basket. That's right yeah coming on the market that states every every Sunday there is a little poster in the back of the Sunday globe a specific player and I used to cut them out in ate them on my wall so I think I had those up in my walls to remember those honor of you ever seen my scrapbook. The kid who had the the the Patriots shrine in his bedroom for in series. I scrapbook this wholesome. Let me guess you're patriots? Shrines started in. What two thousand three two thousand four do pre Brady? Yeah I scrub. Brady's first start he did so. Don't come at me so two thousand two thousand one got it. Yup All right so now that the Dick Measuring contest is over. How about we get to this. Football game boy. I didn't even join the Dick Measuring contests you would you? Would you like to Chime in? About how big your patriots tickets? This later all right So this is like we said earlier week. Thirteen of the two thousand one season the Cleveland browns coming to visit foxboro stadium with the gratuitous shots of Gi field in the backgrounds. Browns were actually good for the browns. This year I guess come into the game. They were six and five which was more wins than they had in the previous two seasons combined where they went to wins and then three wins. Unfortunately they would finish the season. Seven and nine missed the playoffs. Typical Brown chip well. It aircraft is so great. You know what did he win? A Heisman. The great white hope for the ground. Well they were talking about him. As what the heisman winner or something in this game but yeah. This was still this pre crisis. Was Tim couch couch. Yes sorry he. I felt so bad for Tim Couch in this game. We'll get to that in a bit but he he struggled. He was sacked fifty one times a season. I think yeah. We touched on most sacked players in the league history. And I'm pretty sure this was on that list in the top or twenty whatever it was some seventies on what's his face was talking about as far and away car. Yes yeah yeah expansion on yeah that's true. Yeah so head. Coach was Butch Davis which is fucking fantastic name. An never beat. The Patriots Path went to an against him. Some other notable coaches on the same though. They're actually like some who's who of future hair coaching failures. I thought the offense to Bruce Arians is probably the most successful of the mall. Yep head coach Carlo five years and is now currently the head coach of the buccaneers him of James Winston fame. I like clarity. I think he's a good coach. Yeah but wasn't he the guy that talked about like USA drink paint as a kid that make that up? I'll stab check. I feel like there was some quote about him. Somewhere about emily eating paint chips or like drinking picked. Bruce Arians said on serious today that he had to get his stomach pumped twice when he was younger breaking paint so not once but twice twenty seventeen. Yeah I thought so. Secondary coach on the team with Todd. Bowles the old jets head coach. Remember him and we liked plan against him. The pages were eight and one against todd. Bowles coach jets teams. What happened on that loss I don't know I've taught my head but my guess is probably like a week. Seventeen three year. Backups in Game Yeah. He's alright yeah well actually no wasn't that Todd Bowles Who was jets quarterback after After Sanchez I think like the Virginia or Virginia. Tech Guy What's his name was. Quincy Carter is not Quincy Carter. Gino Smith thank you. Yeah yeah she knows Smith Aaron. Having John West Virginia. But who's okay it's enough. Yeah so I think that was during those days and those one game where Gino Smith just went off randomly and beat the Patriots. That was point that one. I think I'm assuming that was todd. Bowles 'cause I mean. They've had a lot of dark moments. But Todd Bowles is one of the darker ones And then the secondary coach was our old friend. Chuck Pagano in History Right. Yeah it was because he is the swinging gate fake punt. Chuck Pagano Right. Oh yeah okay. The greatest play in special teams mystery. Oh so hang on was taught. No and I was hoping that Todd Bowles was the coach of the Buffalo Game. But that's can you hear me? I can hear you now. Yeah Okay Yeah I just I Just hopped onto my zoom meeting. My my air pods are connected to the zoo meeting. So we're locked and loaded continue. We'll leave that in fuck it. That's what I'm saying So I I took a quick look at the. The roster of this team tried to put together a list of people that even like you may have heard of and only two people that. I'd heard of Tim Couch and Phil Dawson the kicker the other names. I didn't recognize you. Don't Remember Gerard Warren. The the defensive linemen that played for like twenty seven years. You don't remember earl little the safety then it's north ring. A bell. Sure his Bellary Kevin Giant. I had no idea but he was great. By the way I just want to point this out I have the zoom APP because I use it for work every time Greg Talk. It says Kelly Brown when he speaks. Yeah so I just I just want that on. I want that on record Greg Greg you know what I'm I'm a modern man. He actually took her first name and she took his last name so they both Kelly Brown. Oh Shit that is. It's fucking me up. Every TIME GREG talks it says. Kelly Brown is speaking. And you know it it makes sense. I did recognize Corey Fuller. I think but I don't know if that's because you had a good game in this game or are you thinking of the wide receiver Corey Filler. That was actually on the browns a couple years ago That could be a two. It's a different corey fuller. Yeah apparently Jomar Miller was like a pro bowl for seem all pro linebacker And he looked the part but still never heard them. Don't remember him and one is just A. Who's who of just failures in terms of Brown's defense this is what bothers me as a guy named Wali Rainer. That had thirteen tackles that game. I'm upset that I have never heard of a guy named Wali Rainer. Nope none of these guys. Because yeah I'm putting all the league. They're leading running back with James Jackson. One never heard of two. He finished with five hundred fifty four rushing yards never heard of him either leading rusher on this team are the reason why is because of the whole relocation. Yes so yeah because that just happened recently. The new Brown's new Brown's resume play in one thousand nine hundred eighty nine two years back into their brand new. Yes is essentially. I can't believe so wait. I CAN'T BELIEVE. Bill gave up on a franchise like us. It's really mind. They gave up on him. Yes I did. Give up on him. He wanted to stick around. Yeah did you hear how it went down? I think so. I've heard a few different versions of what you've heard. So belichick makes the playoffs right now. woman five the next year. They're like it's week five. Enacts when art modell he like decides he's going to announce that they're moving at steam the middle of the season right right Lou team croissant on the season. Of course they wish beans at year end. Dumbbell chicks gone but then that also plays into the jet situation because people should on ballot check for bailing on the jets position but if people remember back then there was also an ownership change or was at least rocky because they didn't know if they're going to sell the team and so. I'm pretty sure Bella check into WANNA be a head coach for the second time and then have the T. Movers from Jenky crap happens so you know it looked pretty bad but if we if we look back at history I think it's a you know understandable moves and I think you can also point out the fact that the last coach to take the Browns to a playoff victory is still to this day. Bill Belichick true beating our New England patriots. Actually in that playoff game. Imagine imagine this podcast by the browns long. We should START THAT GREG. Bowman you browns on Brown's that name can just go back and just shit on the round starting in two thousand one. Thank you got the name of the PODCAST. It's called Shit Brown beauty that not in Santo that imagine being a browns fan near like you. You WanNA start a podcast. This one I was like. Oh my God. There's so much longevity. You start with Tom. Brady's first game and you have nineteen years. It's like we're GONNA WE'RE GONNA have a podcast forever you do the Brown Like well we're done all right. When do you even start with that? Thank thanks for coming back. You guys want to cover some of those nineteen sixty Jim Brown games. Let's go blame anyway. I would be would be tough to cover because I don't think they had. Tv back then to find video that you can't look this up but imagine Jim Brown breaking a tackle of one hundred eighty pound linebacker that you've never heard of the visual part time mechanic while also playing for Auto Green Lost Four year twenty seven. This is sounding better and better by the second nine Brownstone Brown's I'm telling you wait for that spin off. I can feel it want something. That's how we expand our audience. Andy absolutely yeah. The browns fans and patriots fans there to audiences ripe for the picking ashore. Not that I think there's many browns fans left probably but I don't know they do need a boost for those left all right so maybe it. Maybe we'll bring our massive star power to the browns as well. I can't wait by the way anyway. Browns go ahead. This is just a side note. I got Text confirmation tally Banta. Cain is ready to join the PODCAST. Starting in two thousand and three so we have some ground on makeup. He did tell me that I would be allowed to ask him on air. How Big Tom? Brady's Dick is so. Can we get two thousand and three as soon as possible? I have some things to ask us all right. I like this guy. He's Riggins a big table here. I've got some questions asked tally Banta. Cain about Kelly Brown actually fell. Yep So yeah we definitely have to have him on the podcast from the rumors exactly. Yeah if he knows what was it called the credit cards credit cards flight. Yeah Okay so. We'll tease that for fucking two seasons from now. Christian for a so that Tom. Brady's nickname was driftwood. Tommy and I wanNA know what exactly he means by Driftwood. Like what are we talking here? Yeah that's kind of ambiguous. You think that's GonNa come out like when Brady retires because it's soft and smooth. I don't I don't think breaking news Tom. Brady's Dick is the size of a log that had been out at sea for three years. What they call that that big Dick Energy is that what it is. It's true. Yeah yeah he's got that big Dick Energy seems that way I'm along cock. Greg dresses him for for Halloween. Really anatomically correct. You've got all right. Speaking of speaking to big dicks. Let's talk about. Let's talk about a boy tim couch. I feel like we should probably start with him. Because for some reason I remember seeing highlights of this I think is like when I was putting together the website and all the highlights are basically tim couch getting just absolutely the shit kicked in. It's the fact that he survived this football game kind of surprised me can couch running for his life. He went twenty four twenty nine twenty thirty nine in this game first. Pass attempt like to set the tone of his game. Second play from scrimmage drives back and I think it was tedy Bruschi just puts his face right in his chest as he's throwing the ball and turns into adopting gets picked off like literally second play the Game Jones without exactly went downhill from there. It was not great and then he actually had one drive. That was good and he got all the way down in the first Corrigan. All the way down and then threw a touchdown on third down but even got overturned though. It's just not his day. Well I don't know if it was necessarily his fault. Because they were part parts of the game and is looking like Steve Young around slinging it the problem is is that he was getting smashed in the replay. So it's hard to tell if it was like his faults or in the line didn't help for sure I don't know if that guy ever got like a fair shake in his game I don't even know shaking career know exactly when his bracket by an expansion team I overall right and then you five years in the end up only how crowded games and five season all at the brass so he never even got that like every you know first pick overall boss always gets at second third fourteen. You'd never happen for him. That's crazy I never knew that. It's true aisin. Also he was responsible for one to four turnovers in that game. Three picks and a forced fumble a My boy to Bucky. What a NAM by the way donahue responsible for that though maybe he recovered the fumble. I'm sorry you're talking about smoking John. I thought you're talking about Tim Couch Couch. Come couch was responsible for four turn. I mean he was involved in four turnovers in that game three picks and completed the past. That was fumbled. That's what it was to Bucky had a pick and a forced fumble in that game was ablaze because North. Korea literally got knocked. The fuck out as he was like Africa hot the ball. That's so bad I love it. I should've should've cut anywhere but north. You're absolutely correct for a second there. I thought you said self cut and I thought that was what I thought know but the guy is trying to make plays so of course every once in a while it's GonNa sail on them or whatever but I mean he was pretty much the only playmate you're on this deal. They had nobody. The there was nothing because I mean even one of those interceptions he hit the Guy Straight in the hands of just bobbled it and it was picked off by which defensive line while pleasant ended up with the interception. It was it. Was Anthony Pleasant. Yeah for probably his only ever interception of his career. I have to guess Stech. There's there's so many there's so many names on this path defense that just God I fucking I love those early teams in turn like Anthony. Pleasant work we'll get to Roman phifer later Maybe the mobile under. Maybe the most underrated Patriots Defensive Player. Like the early two thousand. There's some great. There's some fucking great man Patrick Pass. Who's what our full-back had three tackles in that game. God He must have just been doing work on either kickoff curve punt pass special teams yeah and patching pass again pleasant queer such to allow your sacks I mean. They seem defensive end but he didn't feel like a defensive end. How does this still happen where you have like your three main linebackers? And they're all they all have like ten plus tackles in a game. Does that still happen in the NFL or on the peaches? 'cause I'm looking at Roman Phifer Mikey braids and Teddy ice cold and they all had ten plus tackles in this game and its like. Does that even happen in the NFL anymore? When you have three linebackers on a field anymore with how spread and things are like you'll have to and then you'll have like a an extra safety. Come down in the box or something like that. You know like Atra trunks on with a an extra d beyond their Roman Phifer was definitely one of those like hybrid outside linebacker. Like an Elvis. Do More like Duma bill or you know like not a not a traditional linebacker especially in today's Day and age but I'm looking at it right now and it's like Pfeiffer Bruschi in eleven sort of that sort of free hybrid. Yep Yeah I did catch the when. You're talking about underrated players on his defense. They the commentators at one point like all I think. The most underrated players on his defenses. Tedy Bruschi I thought of all the people you can defense. I don't know if he's the one I would've pulled out but maybe he wasn't referencing that he was like a Use a backup before there were injuries so I think he he was under it in two thousand one two thousand one and he probably wasn't underrated underused linebacker on the team. He probably didn't come into his own. You didn't start seeing like tedy. Bruschi throwing up the snowballs during the Snow Game. Like into like the two thousand and three thousand four was two thousand three two thousand four era Tedy. Bruschi wasn't like an everyday starter glow above them on the depth chart until he got. Yeah thought I thought until I'm just looking up right this second statue now. These and ninety nine two thousand both years he had one hundred and eight tackles arts so these I know but I mean that's what I thought too especially the way that we're talking about him about his young up and comer but I mean he'd been on the team since ninety six apparently. Yeah didn't start many games until ninety nine we started. He started fourteen games on then sixteen games year year or the before and this one. That's weird you're right. They were kind of almost like they never discovered them. I mean to be fair the Patriots were obscure anyway so maybe it was just that they were getting a little bit better and they noticed him. That's what I'm thinking. Yeah I mean I will say Tedy Bruschi man. I don't know if there's been another linebacker that just flies around tackler. No tackle usually not tackling. But he's flying offscreen to somewhere and I've never seen anybody else doing like him. I think that's one of my favorite things to to remember from from these teams. Is that that picture of Tedy Bruschi just running at like on a blitz inches running at the guy running back that steps up to to block them. You just lose tries to jump over every time clip in the legs but still just like his body hurdles into the into the quarterback and inches knocks them over like feet fire. Some bullshit all right you guys have two seconds to respond what position where did Tedy Bruschi to go to college? What position did he play Arizona? Yes he he was a tight end though wasn't he? He was the safety. I'm pretty sure don't quote me on that but a- ITS ON AIR ON RECORD. I'm sure he was a safety and Arizona with the point being though he's massively under size he's always just been a fucking bowling ball. Hey apparent six one to forty seven which not huge for I mean. Well I mean nowadays linebacker I think of kind of gotten smaller in general because they have to be quicker but in this two thousand one day and age where everybody was just bigger in general it seems like I mean you look at the tight ends of these games and they all look the same size of Rob Gronkowski. They're just basically an extra hands. Everybody lowered in like just a little bit. Yeah the game wasn't about speed. It was about size. Because didn't them. Then Bob parcels have some common about He he built big teams because as the season goes on fast teams get slower but big teams never get any smaller or something like that also probably get slower so this is true but they started slow so it doesn't matter so closes right the size. The size never changes. I guess that's true. The best part cells quotas about being able to pick the groceries when he went to the cowboys. Like you like. I want to take the groceries and I couldn't. It's like Amen. And that's one thing about bill that's why never leaving the pats. Bill gets to pick the groceries in fucking Robert Kraft signs the checks. Bill builds his fucking like obscure team where people were like. How is this going to work? And it's the same way that this isn't going to really blow your mind. The same way her brooks built the nineteen eighty. Us Olympic team that built the Russia's like how is this going to work? And you gotta you just gotTa Fuck with division. You've gotta fuck with vision and that for you to have a system. Yeah that's I mean. I think that's a surprisingly apt analogy from and what that quote was about You know he parcells upset because he was forced to draft Terry Glenn and speaking of Cherry Glen. This season nicely done a hell of a segue actually finally played in this game The Boston Globe had articles that? We like the whole thing was. Will he actually play or not? 'cause they settled their differences or some bullshit and he was kind of healthy. But did you actually see? They showed the clip of we talked about it last week before about the interview that he gave where he basically said Yeah I'm hurt because I'm not getting paid and I'm not GONNA pay from. I'm going to be hurt. Sort of bullshit right. He said I did want to be part of the Patriots. Yes D I D did. Because we're his outfit on. That was phenomenal. He is style you so had. He had the corn rows. Which I'm assuming we're thing back in two thousand one. I'm just GonNa Guess Stylish Manso ever heard of Alan Iverson. Andy Young Man. I'd say that corn rains where thing back in two thousand and one. I don't I don't follow Alan Iverson's hairstyle career in terms of times when we had one we only had one. That's that's all we ever had. You had the corn rows and then he had those like. I don't even know how you described the sunglasses. Almost like clear reflective sunglasses that were like wraparound sunglasses. Let's honor the dead Terry Glenn and his son have Passed onto the afterlife. Let's looks Not Be too disrespectful. But you're not talking about this in the past but you are correct. What a waste of talent. I'll just dive in right now. Terry Glenn what a fucking waste of talent. He could have been so good. I mean he was good. One is on the field. Yeah you just feel ninety six to ninety eight. He was probably like a top ten wide receiver. He caught ninety balls as a rookie. Yeah one hundred yards. What year was that Kelly Ninety Ninety six. Yeah those are super bowl year right. The first one was. Yeah yes he does. He gave drew bledsoe a weapon. They went to the Super Bowl his his playing style matched up with Jews. Perfectly because drew was so in love with his arm and he just did like the whole he just did. The whole like fucking. Terry's down there somewhere and Terry was like you know the perfect Terry would just be going long and drew would just hit them. But so similar to like Tom Tom Brady and Randy Moss. Or you've seen the. Eli You see like the ally manning beam whereas eyes are closed. And he's throwing the ball and he's like fuck it Ob Yeah Manningham down there somewhere. Exactly Joe flacco jump bulge saying exactly the same idea. Joe FLACCO is best. Play was throw at deep. Get the defense of the past interference. That was by far his best constantly. Oh absolutely or lead bowl like body someone right. Hi Okay so we thirteen thousand. What do you think was the game changing play in this game? I think everyone probably thinks it's the same one but I I have one. That's in mind. I just WanNa hear what other think. Well I'm a Troy Brown stands so I'm going to go with his punt return touchdown and that's the that's the only answer one thing. Well I was going to jump in with a play but the the two minute drill before the half was human drill as well play. So I'll give you that but I I loved watching it. I think it Set the tone for the second half yeah if NFL FILMS. Doing a turning point. I think it could be either of those situation agree. I agree one thing that sticks out to me like that's just a glaring difference between the two thousand and and like today it's football lawyer Malloy. Maybe our best overall player. He had the game changing block. That Free Choi Brown up for that punt return started to start offensive players ban on punt returns anymore. I think that's just like not a thing that happens anymore. Patriots minutes always been like that for them. I think Bill Belichick had had been. I remember seeing something one of those like documentaries of the Banou Abell checkers off season. And they were talking about how he did the same thing in in Cleveland on the browns and had like average top and at one them like a whole bunch of gains literally on a walk off punt return for a touchdown at one. The game like that was part of his philosophy from day. One some stat from this year about how they were like paying special teams players. More than wide receivers. Yes like guys only special teams like Matthew Slater and I think that's kind of like the evolution of having the stars on there too like literally just trapped and guys who are starters on special teams now but I think that was my point. I feel like you just don't see it you know. They haven't tire personnel changes when the punt return when they know the teams ponting and like I was just reading up on it. It's like Richard Seymour lawyer And I think we're all out on punt return and you know what could have been a major driver behind out. Do you remember when Gronk broke his forearm on a fucking extra point? I was just going to bring you. Do you remember I in garbage time. And he's been. I think he'd probably still wears that. Fucking robot's saying on his arms. He's not even play. I don't want to say that it was the major driver behind it but like I feel like early. Two thousand just a whole different animal. You had your best players out on your punt return on our country. Turn to add to your point. That wasn't a nasty Laura Malloy blocked but then Richard Seymour. Like you mentioned was out there. He blasted the kicker on my best watching six foot. Seven three hundred fifty pound Richard Seymour. It was basically just just walk right into the Punter and the guy just falls over and he's been hit by a truck was away like I didn't do that. He's actually got his hands up as he's doing it and the guys still falls over well perspective that go ahead. No you go ahead Mike. I was just going to say to put into perspective like game wise and correct me if I'm wrong because I slipped up last week. So whatever at this point who is like Ten ten in the second quarter. I think it was like four minutes left. And the Troy Brown punt return touchdown for eighty five yards eight at seventeen ten so it was definitely a turning point in the game for those. That are curious where we're at this point but go on car. No I'll even add on top of that. I think that we got the ball back at happened. We scored right at half. That part return actually turned into a sizable to score. Lead and by sizable to score lead. That makes no fucking sense. Because you're right you're right. We got the ball back at half. I'm pretty sure we scored after four. Half right right sorry. Did they get the ball in that too? So yeah so. After the punt return the browns like drove straight down the field in like three plays and then but then tim couch through pick to Terrell Buckley and then the pats they had the ball in their own like twenty or thirty and with like just over a minute left but they actually drove down the field instead of the commentary. The commentators actually made some comments about how it was a whole different philosophy Kaz patriots in the past would have just taken a handgun. Halftime of the page sexy drove down the field. Madame military field goal with like a couple of seconds left. So now they're up ten points going into into the half up twenty to ten it's actually able to. That's what I was thinking. Is Definitely foreshadowing that greg it's a minute seventeen. They have it on their own. Thirty yell football baby anywhere. And then they got a big task and Troy Brown sets it up and then it's almost like the sleep. Shame interim can I dive into that? Cliche even more. Maybe I carry was the best player on that team. Obviously GonNa fuck and drive down the field no matter how much time is left because he wanna put the ball in your best players. The best player new teams hands. And that's not saying that. That's that's what bill ballot check dude. That's what Bill Belichick was saying. Semen saying admitted. Terry Adam did. It was the best player on that. I swear to God that is a direct and this isn't doing that year. I'm talking about years later. Bill Belichick thinking back to that team. He's said not direct quote. Terry was the best player on that team. So which is interesting because even missed two kicks this game. Yeah I also what is true and and he hadn't been nearly as consistent throughout this season so far as I remember because when you think of Adam Terry of him just never ever missing kicks and always making the big ones but this season especially. I thought he hasn't been who are him to be I? I'm pretty sure from this week's fourteen. I don't know this is not a absolute stat. But it's close from week fourteen on. I don't Know Adam Terry missed the field goal the rest of the year. Might maybe one and this is a million and this is the year that we went on the win. Our First Super Bowl I sorta. Maybe it was not as cool as week fourteen but I sorta he started a week and he didn't miss a field goal the rest of the season and he was the best player on the school connor. I'm interested in your take as we talked about this in a previous episode before. But so you're saying that. He got pretty automatic as the season but obviously was struggling in the early part of the season. Same thing with Tom Brady. He had his bumps and bruises. There are some perfect games and then so far. We've seen some kind of Ducks thrown in In all that and bill's philosophy at that time was right. Those guys right Yet faith in them. I think nowadays. You'd have a little bit of shorter leash for the same scenario with a guesthouse gear like some other guys. So what are your thoughts on his departure philosophy or is it the same philosophy in on this reading. I think you're right in the middle because I don't think it's Harry. I think from I think week fourteen thousand one. Maybe the rest of the rest of his career never had as bad of a stretch as statsky has i. Don't you remember those games? Mike Andy Greg Win. Have you like a kick like a thirty five yard field goal during the era? Where you ever like. Oh my God I'm worried that's missed. Missed those over and over again. He's so like then. It's Harry how to run where you knew no matter what. It was automatic. Forty to forty five guards automatic. He hit most of the fifty plus yards but forty forty five yards. You could just like go. Get SMART Chips and dip like you knew he was hitting it 'cause Southie you're like are we going to lose this game because he can't take a forty yard field goal in a dome like I'm telling police units the what Mike Mike. You're also right though. 'cause I bet. checked philosophy is the exact same but. I don't think he ever got to the point within Terry where he needs to start bringing in these fucking journeymen kickers like you. Do you remember Fucking Bill? Belichick having fifty seven year old more than Anderson in for a tryout because Harry was fucking unreliable. No that's true but yet they haven't had chicken. They haven't had kickers in because Gutowski unreliable because he was hurt. Yeah but how now man was he hurt for three seasons Viteri? Extra point has been added career after week. Fourteen thousand one granted it was from what twenty yards twenty five yards terrible at all. He actually has missed some. Yes during this. Dong during his during his dominant run at the pack. Yes which one one two. He missed three in one. Two three five years connor from from the two yard line the shortcake's guess what he's Ugo percentage wise in two thousand and one being. Greg think asked me what does field goal percentage was two thousand and four. Just answer the question in two thousand one the year. We're talking about two eighty percent car kit eighty percent that year. That's not great year. Give Small Brain Syndrome. You only remember the kiss. That were big. We make how many how many socks Harry thirty attempts thirty field goals. And he made twenty four of them so name a kick ass kicked attempted over forty field goals and has had a better percentage. No I want I terry best year. Not Two thousand one when he had a rocky start to the year. Andy like both brought it up. He went on a run after week. Fourteen and was the most reliable person team. Okay you want to hear that eight yards in fucking three. So he's not clutch. Eighty three point sent Gutowski. Eighty seven point. Four percent. Interest is more accurate. Technically kicker without a doubt. Yeah but conner's point though it's the eyeball test because if you remember. I hate to bring this up and we'll talk about later but season right super bowl. Arrays half right before half ask you was given an opportunity or there was an opportunity to kick Bella check decided to go for some bullshit fourth and twenty or whatever it was instead of going for the kick and I'm I'm sorry but it's the prove your point. Connor Viteri past the eyeball test. Well he's more clutch. We can agree on that. I like yelling all know Andy. All the numbers for every statistic earned slated. Now it is the score points league. Do we're talking about two thousand and one on return. Brady Tom Brady. Tom Brady but how is kicking changed on unity of anything? They're lower because they move back the extra point kick back. There hasn't changed outside of the the extra point rule ever and you know what has record of consecutive extra points kicked in a row. Yeah Kathy with like five hundred. Seventy something warmer could rookie year. Two thousand seven. Not a bad part doesn't six two thousand six. Oh I'm sorry I'm sorry we're not talking about totals here. We're talking about percentages right accuracy. So so you're telling me the Tom Brady Randy. Moss welcome Walker days. Then put the kicker in a better position Position to hit field goals. Then the Tom Brady fucking seventeen for twenty six no touchdowns two hundred yards and a couple of like game winning drives where Adam Venit Terry hit the field goal dude. All right sounds good point in this game alone. He's right I can't disagree In this game alone to be fair the majority of his kicks that were attempts. Were around fifty yards. Tom Lang Com Brady threw fifty touchdown in two thousand and seven. I don't know how many touchdowns total the you gotta add in fucking rushing touchdown defensive touchdowns special teams touchdowns. Tom Brady was in the fucking red zone all game long stuff. He had the easiest job in the game. I'm telling you then a terry with early pre ACL injury. Tom Brady was kicking. Forty plus fuel goes all day long. Southie was in like the thirty thirty five rain with the occasional forty and like the ever day magical record. I don't mean Betas. I've been watching the past the nineteen ninety sick. You were talking. You were a bucket twinkle in your dad's I in nineteen ninety six. I had been one patriots since nineteen hundred same age. Your was a year a year off. I'm a year older but I know like his cognitive ability like he probably didn't really get the enjoyment of the Patriots until the year after that which is why I'm interested in the twinkle in your dad's I if you'd like to talk about that for a little bit or or perhaps we we go back to the browns here. I know people are fascinated by our kicker talk. I'M GONNA figure out the numbers on that all right back next week. Unless I'm wrong then I won't I mean Game Wise I will say this is a weird one because it felt like both teams were kind of just mucking around You Know Brady has mistakes. Nothing was really like solid especially in the first half But the somehow made it work anyway but throughout the game no matter how you know one side sucked or another. It was pretty close to the end which is surprising to me because it was so sloppy. Yeah they were talking about. How the The browns were like plus eight on the season terms of turnovers like turnover ratio. People people. Forget to earl. Little was with a Stud Earl. Little was a study with a safety for the browns Gerard. Warren in his brown days was a minute on Defense. Like th there because they had a. They had a good defensive. Names do any other show. Which makes that number even crazier. Is that in the previous two games for this. The browns had lost eight. Fumbles in those two games. Holy Shit yes. It's minus eight and they're already and they're still plus on top of that dude. It's crazy though. They said up to this point up to this week at twenty five interceptions in thirty one overall takeaways. That sounds like a Shipton. Yeah that's like one of those defenses that you expect to see the top lead people talk about but because their offense was so bad they'd still won six games and and you know the the commentators again kept coming back was like this is how browns games is their defense keeps a minute and then they were talking about the the Cleveland. Browns bend. Don't break defense which was hilarious. But then hopefully the somebody will make a play at some point. Which Brown's the defense did they scored the only touchdown the was it a picnic or a fumble. I think it was the pick six. That was Yeah it was. Brady's Brady's I passed. It was a fix. It was a lob. Grab no Etowah Corey. I agree with you Andy and then I think about some of those cuts defenses and I was a big been. Don't break I always like when people are like the past deepens me so bad the thirty second in the league and I was like a big bend. Don't break defense guy yards vs points for putting a fifty points a game. Obviously these offenses are going to accumulate some yards and maybe score points a point or two because they now have to throw fifty times a game even try and keep up and I was like I was writer. Die On the bend. Don't break defense so watch it. Oh Yeah I think most most of us weren't listening to these guys talk about that. From the Cleveland browns standpoint. It was though yes recently. I remember the first year didn't feel like that was and you're like all right. Now they're playing Was like so refreshing to like watch a defense like place. Yeah kind of like this. This defense has been doing all year. There's another one defense but I just the the level of violence it. I thought this defense brought to pay as kind of shocked me compared to what we're used to these like all of these. Steve Brown's before to where you every play you Li like that's that's probably a penalty this nowadays like every every is it. Is it though because I was looking at that man? Like one of the best hits I've ever seen on tim couch delivered by Bruschi like knocked off and that was legal. Man One hundred percent and it's a lot of these heads man. It was like shoulder pads. They were just. I don't know if they were more eight hundred idea. I think a lot of it is the defensive defenseless receivers stuff now. That was not a thing back then. And that's a lot of that in this game. I really agree with Mike. Mellow I think back. Then because it was way more violent you had to play smarter and you had like there was more. I don't know how to explain it. There was more shoulder to shoulder tackles back then when it was more like violence actually more. I don't know feeling in people's and defenders especially are so frayed to play defense because everything has a penalty. Now they don't know what to do so really they're just trying to like knock the guy's head off and just hope they stop them detonates because they don't know what's legal and what's not anymore that's defense hasn't been getting screwed. Probably the Oh seven Brady Moss when they were like all right. It's all about offense the defense it's also say. Oh four when Peyton Manning? The colts got the rules change. Yeah so that's when it was four. Yes I said I said. Oh seven because I thought we did it better than they did which we did. Well I think that was Bella. Check sway as being like. Hey Fuck you. You won't change the rules okay. I'll explain that one instead. And that's exactly what he did anybody else get any Game Score Yeah. I haven't mentioned the final score any of these games. I don't think yet there. It is good yup stack. I will say though man like like I said the pats were comfortable for a while. Brady was just off now. Two credits tends credit. I mean he had the composure. Do I just keep going. And he didn't fall apart. You know but there was no manning face on. Brady's face doesn't get rattled. You'll throw a pick and you'll come back. And they're they're pointing it out that that Who's the offense coordinator Charlie? Weis would would come out and the next replays. We've got chuck it but not even just like short passes like I want you to chuck it down field twenty yards like they just seem to have full confidence in him. Actually doing what he needed to do. Dividends crazy because it was it was twenty ten and this is one of the worst interceptions I've ever seen Brady throw giving. You might have been getting like bledsoe tips. A little bit too much during Brady basically a Lonzo ball as he's falling forward and both of his legs legs are almost off the ground being grabbed by like defender so he throws this nasty pick. They end up. That leads eventually to Brownfield going. It's twenty to thirteen just like that. Yeah by the Way Mike. That exact play it was third and long and did you see Tom. Brady's quote in the paper the day after it's you'd never hear him well. Luckily uploads all the newspapers Like you can send you are a psychopath dude. You don't know is actually print these off and have them up on my wall my bedroom with the with all the pins connecting in this looks like the wall of like the war room and in the CIA. There's like all these strings with fucking tab. That in but Tom Brady in the CAPER goes sometimes. I need to stay in there and take more hits. And he's talking about its third and long he's like it's better basically to get hit and take a sack. Then do what I did on that play. Which is that was the horrible interception. You're talking about. Could you imagine post tear Tom Brady when he changed the whole mindset on health and what what's important obviously it's pliability? It's IT'S PLIABILITY I have obviously. It's all about pliability. But she's like I need this. I need to stay in there and take more hits. That's just not something you would ever hear. Post two thousand seven. Tom Brady ever say and just kinda speaks to how different his mindset was and honestly how different game was. The game has changed. So much like quarterbacks. Don't get hit the way Tom Brady got hit back then and east fucking tough as nails. He's he's one of the toughest ever and I'm done talking the podcast but that makes sense. I mean this funny I like. I'm a Brent Jones and Gus Johnson Guy. I mean we talk pretty frequently and you know. I don't think there's football or not football this week. Guys I think I got most of it. But but Jones goes when he say he. Oh he said a player's name wrong and then he was like. I'm so sorry it's actually this Harkening back to my playing days because Johnson. Ha Six concussions. I understand and read Joseph. What was your name again? So openly laughing about concussions. Back then about the fact that he was six concussions while definitely a different time. I don't think I don't even think that after him was even a thing. C. T. E. Yeah Yeah I mean we've talked about the Talked about drew bledsoe. And how like when he got hit against the jets the first time I know talking to the the team trainer who was literally standing right there when he saw it happen and he's like Oh check them out for concussion but he seemed FIS. We put him back in the game and then like your day after all the players like yet he didn't actually know what play he was calling so we told him that he should be out there. Players actually sent back off the field because he was so bad back then. Yeah also by the way the announcer talking about how the night before They had dinner and kraft paid for everything and I was just wondering what else he paid for. Now see that's not right out. You're going to go with them. I thought we're going to go with It's a slight take on your ear. Football not football. It's a hall of Famer Not Hall of Famer. Ooh ooh Yes Brent Jones the I did yes sir was there. They were congratulated him because he was inducted into the hall of fame. And I thought you gotta be fucking kidding not another one but it was actually the division to hall of fame and Bay showed a clip of his his speech and It sounded a little CD. His Big Jake was the fact that obviously the division two guys are smarter. Because you know what we've got the playoffs and that was his. Bring Down House moment. Do you think people didn't know that drew bledsoe was concussed is because he was basically just a traffic arm A traffic cone with arms. Even when he was in I was literally big. Fan of drew. Bledsoe don't hey boys. I'm thirty three years old. I the peak of my fandom might have been during the buds days. I'm just saying he was a traffic cone with a right arm from his rookie year. Back Guy could not get out of the way I mean he. He probably had the work worse like pocket aware but he was one of those guys. His arm was so good. He thought he could make any throw on the field. I swear to God led so exciting swing past I was GONNA say screen pass regardless like. What is the screen pads? I like you know what I do. Fucking throw rockets. All over the. It's like this nice touch past. You're talking about now. Fuck that gun it in their amazing Greg. All right Greg Brown can probably statue listening to this. What is what is your role on this podcast. If you won't speak for fifteen minutes Greg we'll win you run your mouth slipping counterpart to get a word in all. Well Greg you're doing a fine job with the stats. I really like your brand name here and also Greg. Your your brother is against you. I told them when you guys were talking about Tom. Brady's looks and Gretchen. Cut In and said would you bang? It was laugh out loud funny and the fact that Andy didn't cut that up and put that on social media. Let's me know that he doesn't want you your career to take off so It's not on me. You can talk to Andy. I'm here for love of the game. You know I'm not here right. We'll city likes shares. All right speaking of banging and all that other stuff Aye. Let's try out a a football quickly on connor and see what he thinks So these things have popped up week to week because I just don't understand football and Andy Smarter than I am. Greg SMARTER THAN I am in Steve. Perhaps so I like to rely on them To give me a little knowledge so Brent Jones did say and I quote Saint L. has two hands on it and just couldn't hold on santee. I go had two hands on it and just couldn't hold on. What does that mean that football or football? I don't know yet to hands on it and just couldn't hold on online quite Brent Jones. Yeah Jones saying that. When was this? Is this like a day in sports and around the same time as week. Thirteen during the game. You just two hands on it. And I'm Kinda Hazy. But that it is and he just couldn't hold on so you know I think it might be is. He had two hands on the marijuana that he was arrested for. When was that in the paper? There was a mug right. You're talking about okay. Are you guys? Fucking? We're not we're not talking about the BROWNS Lineman Greg Andy. 'cause what you're saying is the Browns. Lineman Greg Robinson just got arrested like a hundred seventy pounds a weed and now you're talking to somebody who is saying. There's NO CYNTHIA. Way Who the hell in jail for this I would. I would actually clarify if connor shelter. Fuck up way. Oj Simpson is a different player in the in the Boston Globe. There was this tiny little slow little blurb they call my. I said warrants out for Santiago a warrant was issued in Pittsburgh for the arrest of Cleveland Browns Titan. Oj Santiago marijuana possession decree from kind deal report yesterday. According to the paper the warriors connected to the November Twentieth Arrest of defensive. Tackle Gerard Warren. Who faces a charge of carrying unlicenced firearm in his car during a search police found marijuana which they now believe belonged? San Diego so the foul right. So fact that San San Diego's actually to play in this game surprise me. But so my guess is was talking about the fact that he was trying to hide his his marijuana and He's trying to get both hands on it but obviously couldn't which is why. I the warrant out for his arrest that makes friends Brent. Jones is trying to be clever and like that old fuck and Corny. Dad like porn joke way. Yes and Geragos warn. You've seen his hair and I'm not stereotyping. Obviously he smokes weed. He looked like like Afroman's you ever heard his song. I end with added this out. All right insult Jerry but he looks like Afro Man. He's talking about the but it's not actually they actually look alike. Greg. That wasn't just a broad linear Snack that's all Greg on athletes. Chick logistic also say while he's looking Jones said we'll fork when he shaved. That is why it looks exactly like Vince will for I am dead. I'm obviously looking at pictures. Now look up Afro Man. It was happening. Just want to say he is also said and I know this is early two thousands and I don't know why he went. This way was during a kick return by. He was like. Oh this is gay at the five. And then he's taken down at the thirty three yard line. I don't know why you're saying that five five. I don't know that one I do know what is it because a kick returner and You you can't make this up. His name was Ben Gay. I don't know if he was named after the was that like the hot stuff. Oh Are you serious? So that was football. Yeah Oh Jones. But the topical Pain Relief Product Ben. Gay which because in soccer in high school. Everybody used to RUB IT in other people's Underwear Shit. So they're fucking. That's all I know never happened to me. I guess people thought I was to anybody. No I couldn't afford Ben gives you ever watch somebody do. It's anybody go home later and good too so I plead the fifth. His name is literally Ben. Gay running back. Wow all right well then. I Back Brian Jones story about people with last name. Gay just going Greg. Unh realized might be cutting this out to run away again on the soccer team in many fans but one game. I don't know where it was. They must have got a hold of like the rosters as their walk in if she cares as a kid on my team at gay and they just showed up and they were like where he's gay seventy pounds gay is. I don't condone any of this. This was your all by those. How did he think how do you feel about all this? He didn't acknowledge it at all. I mean like when you get to college right. I'm sure you've heard all of that. Oh Yeah Oh yeah yeah. He thought it was on. Yeah of course yeah did not know that. That's not good. That's well as I'm sorry. You have to listen to this connor. This is a shame. Well no it's not as creative as the stuff. Gregory would say during his fandom if you will went to a lull spinners game honestly brothers and dad and it was so the heckling was so bad that dad left us in and just drove home to find out. What did you say Greg and I'm I'm bracing myself well? He tried to. He tried to fight the mascot at one point. I think that was dad's tipping point. He was heckling mascot. Mall is not bad. Once I started drinking Greg Greg loves to set the fight and he's not one to finish the fight. I've noticed that about shots fired their greg. C C Eighty Buffalo trip. We've been on. You've got the biggest now in the entire group. He's a an addict anatomically correct size blowup of Tom. Brady Dick strapped around his legs. And he's walking around. Buffalo Telling People. I'm Brady Brady. This is an anatomically correct size of trump walking around buffalo and then people get kissed and guests who steps to the back of the line doesn't want to be a part of any of the physical altered case. It's Greg Crack. Why is it physical occasion over there? That's just good clean fun right there. Fun Dude he's this plane. His nickname apparently had some. I had some beers thrown and make like when I was can't wait was a nickname again. Something driftwood just would tommy. Yeah there you go this proof right there. My point being greg is I mean Andy. You know he's an all time shit talker. It's in the blood than the blood. Greg thing I you know Greg definitely got overseas. Besides everything Jesus Delivery Greg. Hasn't good delivery of his shit. Talk Steve's He's Witty Steve. Steve's a bit too aggressive on his his delivery I think I also must admit to the to the whatever listener out there that Greg does resemble a little tiny. Dan Don't do some Brady back. I know I know I now never mind. Cut that out to dry driftwood Tommy in that department. But he's gone Mike Brown's almost there. We're not talking about like facial structure right because I mean Tom Brady is infinitely no Greg. Brown looks nothing like Tom Brady. No I retract my statement. Then I probably. I looked like Tom Brady. Except I'm more athletic and I have a better looking. I like that. That's good. I just told my vote. My Greg. The better looking white. You're out of your pinball shadow. Kellyanne their smokes. Yeah can't more patient life. That's for sure I I forgot we were on a pug when Greg got I gotta y water bottle I lived like choke. It's fair game. She's shall we talk about the last big play of the fourth quarter to wrap this up. Yeah that's what everyone wants to hear the last big play of the fourth quarter game from two thousand and actually how about you this you do. How would you best and worse and Mike? You can start with your all right then play. I'm GonNa have the big play which is my best and then like a little best so the the whole. Iro Holy Crap. Best right with eight minutes left. Oh it was third down the Patriots There's a penalty for holding and at this point they were in their in field goal range and instead of pushing them back and making him do it again. The browns the climbed the penalty fourth down Get into a field goal formation. It's fifty two yard attempt and they hiked the ball. They catch everybody off guard. Viteri pooches it yeah. They snapped directly to vegetarian which I thought was an impressive snap. Yes I agree. I didn't even know what was going on at the play back like three times. What just happened but Yeah and then it was down by Jermaine wiggins with like a crazy athletic play at the one and I feel like that Freddie much seal the deal but you guys get yeah and I think Watching Jermaine Wiggins hustle forty yards downfield to tap the ball from going into the end zone. Like as he's kind of diving for it made me realize how unathletic Jermaine wiggins was I would love to see him. Invincible fork play one on one basketball. I think Wilford would toast them call. It wouldn't even I love. And he's he's a character and he's he makes some big plays in the snowball and such but and this is a list a phenomenal play but sing all of Netflix. You use like when we're talking about. How big these guys are tight ends? We're just like actual linemen. Who can catch this this Basically ousting of Jermaine wiggins when I said that well I'll also say since we were talking about kickers and punters in the past so Ken Walter this season I guess he was averaging almost forty yards a punt on the greatest. Oh they put it into Vinnie. Terry's hands it's pretty bad and it was the perfect punt. It was awesome all right so that was that was my best. I guess you could say and then other best of the game was a run up the middle by Mark Edwards which is not a big deal. Oh sorry man but Alex you take that one. I'll leave that alone. I'll tackle worst. Were so worst moment of the game and I hate this shit on these kids and it's probably the parents fault patriots fans with face paint and it looked like the French flag so I got nothing negative for that A. for effort but negative execution. Sorry stuff that's bad parenting with that shit. Parents which down parents are probably browns fans Jackson. Yeah those dead on you nailed it all right so. I'll go next because Mike tried to see him with under My best was Tom. Brady's physicality and so Mike was starting to allude to it. But there was as a mark Mark Edwards fullback dive right by the end zone and You know the bunch of pushing shoving somebody like one of the big defensive. Lineman tried to push him in like Benjamin half as Tom Brady came out of nowhere. And just shove this massive defensive Lineman who then turn around and realizes Tom Brady and start stopping towards him and I. I haven't seen Brady moved quickly away from somebody like even when he has the football but there was that but it was also the fact that they they ran that reverse again that they've been running with David Patten and Tom Brady was again. The lead blocker and he threw a legitimate lead block on this game. Did you guys catch this on? You might have been like a legal kind of buy. It was it was. It was a COUPLA that was legal. You guys less but I mean he. He caught him and it was like it wasn't even like it offends and he was like a linebacker was took the guy clean out of the play in. Even I think it was Brent. Jones was commenting about how it's going to suck to watch that tape. 'cause YOU NEVER. WanNa get blocked by a quarterback Tom Brady and then I think you can tack on what? Connor was saying about his comments after the game about how he should take more hits in the pocket. So just psycho psycho. Tom Brady is my best in. This game See my worst Will this game. I don't really have a real whereas but the this game had some commercials in it if you guys skip them or not but off my two favorites yeah I. Two favorites was a commercial for the palm pilot. Remember the palm pilot so that was fantastic top line technology and they were like three hundred bucks and I remember our mom having one because I think dad used to work for palm so he got some palm pilots for free. Mommy's love her palm pilot Ohio. It's yeah and that that that flame burnt fast and strong and real quick like a schedule calendar in there was a digital counter that didn't connect to the Internet and then the other the other commercial that I enjoyed was The one for Pepsi Twist Remember Drinking Pepsi Twists back then and think house hot shit. Yeah I agree surge though circles passing. Yeah but yeah because Serge. They actually came to our school and as school and out there giving it away to all of us for free which I don't do well to it. Yeah what is up with that free huck? Yeah of course get pretty weird man. When I was going to school like college. These pickup games. I don't know if you were there for one of these. Would they be driving around with like peddling like red bull and giving it away for free really like what is this representatives at call out free to anybody could do? This sounds suspect someone who can do a deep dive on this on Stefka. Greg give us your best the worst rules. You've seen Browns Jersey with a keep adding on all quarterbacks you visiting more whole thing and looking at all names. It's giving give us a quick rundown. Okay we got all coutts voice. Siyal all Trent dilfer Charlie while Ball Games than win Cole McCoy Brandon Weeden. Sad Lewis are three. Some great names on my worst was the Be that actually for Vocal Jersey. Which I have no clue. Why had that did we dare you? Had A Kelly Holcomb Jersey. Hoping I wasn't one of those bargain bin ones. I'd like and I make sense. Why would be insane as podcast went on? My Neil worst is connor state on kicking a loop back a little bit if you will ask career. Construction going on my worse is connor doing well fuck. He's doing the bathroom or I had my fridge. Door had been opened for too long and it was alerted me that get out of the fridge that asks making fuck out hot pockets over there making a making a chicken burrito with Verde. It's green hot sauce anyways. Thank you congratulations greg. Her for all your staff I know you were Tim Young. I know you were too young to comprehend the Games during the thousand and one but Adam. Venit Terry was automatic. And you never had to worry about them. I haven't been able to trust protest right back. The numbers don't lie. Your brain is not fully developed gear like a fuck instinct you just see one unit the redcowmn. Okay do you know how do you remember? Yes you damn right. It might be do. Remember the Games something you. I never worried about vegetarian from two thousand and one until whenever he left. I Bet I bet these old farts remember that to. You could always count on the terrier of military. Stephen Guesthouse has been missing bunnies. Maybe not the you know it is. Great is percentage is great because we score so often. Then we're in fucking scoring position all the time but he visiting also better at fifty plus dude. Let's be honest all right. Let's let's be honest. Stephen Guess Cassie was great until that year in the playoffs against the broncos where missed that kick and he's never been the same since all right so terry eager to you got. Is it that you that you go out of him the same since no? He was not right after that game. Man I mean look at look at the fucking stats do you. What do you want in their prime? And then a terry gets ASCII pride. Pretty want his middle. It doesn't matter owned my God. Would you hit the forty eight would get hit? The forty eight yard are in the snow. You know he wouldn't give me talking dude one name one big name one big kick. He kicked a fifty three yard. Beat the giants look at. What was that week seven week? Seventeen exactly oh come on. Yeah you you know you know and I remember that game exactly. So that's one. Does we had that kicked in the last three in nearly one ran randy had that long touchdown everyone remembers week. Seventeen and how? It didn't matter though. Not Not that game. Well I remember the other game that you might be alluding to with O B J and oh I'll kick it can't be in the regular season man. There's a big fat no fifty three yard game winner break. Who'S THE BARAK LIQUOR? I believe? It's the one that ballot check recently. Said what's what's his face from the Ravens. I believe John Tucker Mouse Connor. What's your best and worst man all right? So limited to Beth Album being talked about but talk about Mr reliable and plus I you guys. I'm talking about in the past. Two Seasons Games Very pedestrian like maybe seventy eighty yards rushing but he had a fucking knows for the end zone. I think he had two rushing. Tv's in the game My second seventy my seconds as very ambulance McCain's My second best like I already mentioned. Was that fuck massive lawyer Malloy Flock to three try Brown on the front concerns. I know it's you. Don't see your your got suspenders out. On putting their terms like you get like early thousands and stuff That kind Tom Brady just being clearly doesn't person in like two thousand one on his his first year but like those areas. Just my worst might have been Tom Brady plays I think this is probably his worst game. Game Starter One. Man Goes Game was an absolute nightmare. Actually Kinda typical this year. This yeah so you know the two picks and I think he lost fumbles then. He had games where he didn't score touchdowns but he drove him down the field. And so I'm Smith or like your Auto Kevin Faulk or some shit happens but I think he was responsible for free. Terms like in. This game was one of his worst games. Maybe not as worse but I can only be a second words this point. We had one where it was a four game. Maybe a couple of fumbles Yup Yup. That's bad I will. I will say this guy's because we didn't bring it up but I thought it was very cool stat. Sorry Greg jumping in your territory here but it. They were talking about Most consecutive games in a row. I'm with seventy percent. Completion percentage or. Oh Yeah and they put up You know a graphic and Joe Montana had eight games in a row Sammy BAUGH had four Steve. Young four Troy Aikman had four and Brady coming into. This game had four in a row as well. So that's pretty cool. Two thousand one CONRADI. Sure was prolific. Con Brio right and then by the time. I guess so also say we didn't bring up Aaron Shea does I mean he got hurt in the game anyway but Aaron Shea was. Brady's teammate at Michigan did they became very good friends. And then I don't know if you guys know this but this always stuck in my mind. He always greatness and Tom Brady because he was a hard worker. India's humble and he knows he's humble because he wants to ask Brady. What would you do if you became famous and you had millions of dollars Brady said I would buy a new pair of socks every day because I liked that so when we have Tom Brady on this podcast? We're going to ask him. The first question asked him. Do you buy socks everyday. Yeah I think that's pretty good question move isn't it? That's definitely ball movies. I know he's real washer on socks. That's real fucking humble. That's all he wants do. That's a pretty big ask. Luckily loses its novelty after. What like sixty times a week. Maybe two weeks. It's because they're new wines. So that's a poor take from and they still like the first couple times you're wearing. They still feel new you know. And the pre hair three hair plugs. Tom He I think he just had a different mindset. See I I'm glad you brought that up. I mean we definitely That'll be a teaser for future episodes because I've brought up and we've debated when everybody Sold her soul. So is it hair plugs. Or was it a deal with the devil for sure? Dude come on two thousand four or five. He got hair plugs. Yeah and they started to grow in. I would do it to and I might have already. Thank you very much long. Talk longhaired Tom Brady. Where seven my favorite years. And you know. He was only wearing the long hair because he was so happy to even be able to grow long hair after the hair plugs. All right now. He's dying his hair. Look it's fine right. Yeah he's a beautiful man can do what he wants. He's earned it grow up or what yes I I think. That's that's plenty. I hide and what is happening. I just can't believe we've talked much about a random browns game that I didn't even remember happened happened if known as I do. Remember this game actually but Um Salah I do you son of a bitch but connor. If if you're ever back again I mean this noise you're making his fucking amateur hour but otherwise I hear you have a deep dive on. I believe Roman Phifer so that could be for another time. Yes I agree. Yeah we'RE GONNA get into the I two hours at this point should anyway. That's what you said. And then you said you released a two hour episode. I haven't been paying attention but I hear there's a two hour one back in forty five yes I don't. He came on my Ambro. Let me come back. I'll I won't talk as much that's my promise. I didn't know what to do. I had so much I promise you I will have nothing to say next week. I literally used all might cakes. I use all my like. I'm done tap their knowledge. That was it at all right well until then next week. The Patriots traveled to Ralph Wilson. Stadium of Greg Brown Dick Fame and against the buffalo bills. Soulsby how that turns out so if you've lasted this long. He'll join US next week and we'll talk to you then. Seila everybody bye bye.
Surf & Turf: Former Jets and Ravens Pro Bowl Linebacker Bart Scott
"Surfed podcasts week five. We got Super Bowl champion. Willie Cologne what's going on. I'm Steven Che Bart Scott on the show today. This was the first Mr K. await. Mr Mr can't wait. This is the first interview that we actually tape for the show. Yeah we're holding it intentionally. Kept it on the shelf because we were waiting for this week in particular reason being it is Ravens steelers over there. Will you obviously played for the steelers. Yep for a good portion of your Bart. Scott also played for the Ravens for a good portion of his career. This was at at the absolute height of that rivalry going to rehash a lot of those stories a lot of really great lot. Feelings are exposed to a lot of feeling inside inside stories which are great. We'll get to that a little bit. I WanNa talk about a few things that are timely with the. NFL first off was timely with the robber. Oh yeah yeah this is. There's a big. AFC North Week in terms of topics. Let's go into vaunt has perfect. He's no longer with the bengals currently in Oakland Raider. He can't change his stripes. CBS suspended for the rest of the year for helmet-to-helmet hit on T- on colts tight end Jack Doyle Willie. What's your take on this. Is that too much. You know it's tough because as we highlight it is rivalry week right and you talk about the AFC championship purpose steelers Ravens what entity gay what hit into that right the Ryan Clark and Ryan Smith. You're here and you talk about what the culture is now to compare in comparison to what it was back in two different games. the problem of aren't perfect is he. He's a bit of the hothead. He's a guy who who if you just take away all I think he just had a total. I'm looking up right now. I think he's had a total of thirteen suspensions and fines and seven seasons with the Bengals so this guy's been he's been on a hit list for a while so you know it's one of the things you say well. The guys overly aggressive. He has to learn new. NFL NFL is his shown a pattern that he just doesn't give he hasn't altered game. One thing I try to do as a ball player is not not kind ought to be the old man on the porch like back in my day. We were out to do this and and and really try to take on the mindset. Well things have changed because I have seen gene the effects of ballplayers who do suffer from head trauma who do suffer from things that the League the game has given them over over of course of their career so I think what he's done is. Is You know a lot of people well is. It Fair is fair because he's been worn. He's been reprimanded he's. He's been putting a position where you know. Leaving Cincinnati was probably the best thing for him. He goes okay. He's named team captain by the way which the wild you know and so he was a guide Gruden one at that and you listen you know Gruden. You know the old time buck. She knew John Lynch. Was You know what Sap Brooks those guys are. All hard hits put that time during they played it was a different game that hit that perfect late on doyle. That's he gets probably a building star for that for being intimidated for being you know Leinna smackdown he's probably he's probably getting a couple taps on his helmet for Leeann that type of hip. That's not today's. NFL and I think what's it's important to really understand. Is that now the guys now guys are starting to look at those types of saying you know what we have to start changing ourselves. You see guys are starting to understand man we can play his game on at a physical level but we have to be smart about it and it was unnecessary what doesn't help his him running off the field smiling yeah because it seems like he comes off very dismissive in as as to say like he doesn't like whatever I can. This is nothing no empathy toward Iraq the guy here so it's it's it's trouble in that regard and then you also get this a lot of his actions or so-called immaturity stems from his days in Arizona Estate. He was a knucklehead in Arizona State and then when he got to Cincinnati when he got to Marvin Lewis Marv was a guy who was known. If we kinda turned bad apple into good good apples. Excuse me that didn't happen I think he tried to help Lante I thought he tried to really make him a better person the ultimately it didn't happen. I think a lot of people remember him. From the big hit he had on Tonio Brandon game. How a dream that was he pretty much line. Abo uh-huh yeah and took him right out Yup does in this is tough so you have John Running who's in charge of giving out far Susan Charge of player misconduct on and on and on Jon Runyan scumbag Yeah Yeah I grew up watching Jon Runyan and Michael Strahan Battles. Jon Runyan was a known lyman. I'm in that would clean up after clean you up around the power and so for him to say wow. This is too much for me saying something so oh I don't know 'cause I and it's tough to myself in the mirror. I WanNa die like that guy who did ship stuff dirty stuff to get in my opponent's head but I never my my intent was never to injure somebody or to take him. You know to take money out of pocket because when you can't play you can't make money yeah so it's quite a juxtaposition with our episode this week being with Bart Scott and you know there are a lot of talks about knocking guys out and you know that type of helmet to helmet type hits and then we opened the show with with Ventas perfect beings suspended for the rest of the season for a Hamilton talking about the individual hit. I mean it's so agree just Jack Doyle when he catches the ball. All is on a knee. There's someone about to wrap them up. Vertex three steps and then just eating like lowers the boom helmet helmet leading with the head. You know there's no place place for that. In today's game may be again to your point. If this were ten years ago that might be a different case but the reality of it is he was just not made for this era so he suspended for the rest of the year. I applaud the NFL and John Running for this decision. Yeah there's so many times you know. A guy can be given a second chance this guy it clearly hasn't learned any lessons from any of his disciplines on fines and suspensions. Get him out of here. The League is better for it really would have to ask you. Is You know we just put got a clip. A few days ago for National Pancake Day correct you take out von deserving slightly after whistle and then you kind of like really try to bury him into the ground yeah like a shark attack in the seal. What was it like playing against volunteers perfect and the did you guys have anything extra for always aware where number fifty fifty five well most guys who take on a percent of being the bad ass or enforce over the guy who talks a lot of shit unless I pay one of the biggest trash talkers in football enjoy porter nobody talk more. Shit Joe Joey Porter. I happen to play against Bart Scott. He talked a lot of Shit Heinz. We talk trash. You know I played with guys who part of the game was talking Shit. I didn't know Vantera perfect at the time when I played them. I knew of them like I said I have watched them in Arizona State. I'm a football guy so I watch in North Dakota state. Play sure you know eastern with Wisconsin. I don't carry long football's on so I haven't been watching the game and he if you take take away all the the nonsense that surround him. He's really good ball player. He's got a place on the ceremonies physical. He makes big turn tackles. He can cover space. I really like him. from a ball player standpoint. I would want him on my team but I want a guy who will play smart. That's that's guy one but fast forward ahead when I played leading in some real chippy talking nonsense and after a while I just got tired of his mouth and that's what led me to pretty much slam them on a floor in China got it. You know dog walking a couple of yards. A lot of what I'm talking about. Now was to culture you know you talk shit somebody was going to meet the Middle Rain to bang it out which you right that was just the AFC north so bengals steelers steelers and ravens it was kind of a Macho Macho thuggery type division and we pride ourselves on running ebel being physical making you tap that was kind of just a running theme around a division but Varney perfect he. I was just one of those guys you Kinda like I said into in time I did something dirty. My intention was never to hurt somebody intentionally but he the way he played the game you question that that within you question of in if you go back to even Osama and tackle on leaving leaving bell well leave your on ends up tearing his ACL and then you see the hit on Burger then you see the hit on a beat you know those type of things and where you say you know what that's not again does not. I grew up in kind of a more blue collar rough and tumble grill gritty type game. He's doing something he's trying to not guys physically out the game and we're not talking about by. Doing you know making a big hit. We're talking about doing something extra you tear. Aco Man. That's a year you step on. Somebody's clavicle or you try to break. Somebody's somebody shoulder. That's year your livelihood wrecked and so that's when you say you know what that ain't it. if you're trying to try to make it dirty you're making it now. We may have to go to the park Parkland. I'll have to you know I'm GonNa have to come out of stands and we have to find you near the bus so it's it's strange man and you know this guy in two thousand eighteen at had had suspended four games. PD's he had another legal hit two thousand seven he was suspended three games in two thousand and two thousand seventeen and another one in two thousand sixteen so this guy just doesn't get it and I don't know I've I've got who lost a lot of money for things I did on the field but I try to be smart about it and also I had a rough time. Stephen Shave TV timeout. We stayed on the sideline about to run onto the field. I get a huddle the referee standing there and turnaround kind of looking at packages defense packages run early if it's nicoderm whatever the REF looks right Amigos. I'm watching you fucking sixty six. You make one more you do one something. That's your ass said Damn. I haven't even done anything yeah he was a he's a we. We we know about you and so I was like wow so the whole game I laughed it off and it didn't stop me at all but it just let me know that all eyes on you all is birth. There's no way he could've thought he got OUTTA. Wave that hit so if you're if you're going to be dismissive and willingly doing things to hurt guys at target guys. We just can't have you out there 'cause you're. You're intent a as this e this hurtful evil so yeah moving on but staying within the division we had another big hit this week kind of not in Donovan is perfect or normal tackle type way ravens cornerback. Marlin Humphry took down Odell Beckham junior in kind of a big show asked choke choke slam dancing around and proceeded to choke him while he was on the ground the problem with us a there is no flag there was a raft three feet away looking at this and see the browns were actually the ones that got flag thrown on them after the play for you know inciting kind of bigger scrum drum. Willie as a former player did any of your former teammates or anyone got taken out and you kind of had to jump in and were were flags eggs thrown as a result of that. How would you react if you were Odell Beckham teammate. I would've spirit home. Freeze all yeah a hundred percent but that but that goes back to my days against Baltimore two more I mean there is I mean people. I mean I remember seeing Ray. Lewis in Heinz lockup enables trying to slam each other real quick so that would have started a scuffle awful so I I was used to that. I think this what happened in particular during this play this happened during the third quarter right and I think before I think Beckham right hand item or there's something chippy tour humphries the kind of sparked it. Excuse me for me. There's always two sides of the story. It looks you know I don't know what ob LBJ did but he did something to get that type of reaction right so we can all get mad that'll be. Jay is getting choked out now. He you know nobody was there to save it. The REF Kinda just overlooked all of it but that ref and I'm just going to throw it out there and I could be totally wrong. He probably watched those to go at it all game. It was like you know what okay you know. They're just being guys. Don't mean but on the flip side of that if if you really look at it the what's more alarming. Is that not one oh. BJ's teammates came over because there's a there's a common run a a little known law football awkward you fight with one you fight with all of us. I know I took office locker room. I know that was the culture with the steelers. If you see one of us in a scrap doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if you're a special teams player to got damn you serving US waffles in the morning. If one fight where all fight we get flat flat together and we get labeled on discipline and we'll get to slap on the wrist but the other team will know you got hell coming at you. If you try to start that shit with US nobody came. Oj Side so which leads me to believe Dat at some point if I'm Jay when I get up I'm talking about. I'm looking at my five line that one. You came over now one that tire during a play that now one of 'em could this push this guy off me. I'm getting I'm getting choked on national television so that's more alarming to me because no matter how much I feel about a guy I'm gonNA once. He wears if he's wearing the same color he wears a helmet. He's now my brother and if you motherfucker meet nobody had that attitude and so I thought that was that was something that made me go How much do they really like oh. BJ How much how much are they how much they really binding it'll be Jay because you didn't get a lot of catches the Sunday he did not. I think he had one we had one baker hasn't been playing. Well Yeah so you know it just makes you look behind the curtain a little tighter because I tell you what let somebody less than my job born hines or or Mike Wallis or been or he would have five dogs on his neck by that one guy if I'm Freddie Kitchens. I'm closing the door. You're at the Office Amino. Might listen guys get you know we're struggling with trying to make it work we we. We've made shoot off more than you know. We bit off more than we can too but we gotTA. We gotTA finish out there. We've got to protect each other to see one guy first of all. We're not talking about the second-string receiver what's. Ob fucking Jay now. One Guy helps them out. Yeah I mean that very interesting insight thought that I would not have thought about honestly very interesting tears perspective on on that now. You're all pro linebacker. None of that means nothing man. Just all you need to do to introduce me a circle of trust with really big sexy go way back. Yes sir back. Dolly full flat so undrafted fridge in two thousand and two you know at Southern Illinois. You only got one team coming out to look at you the ravens what's like kind of going undrafted like. Did you have a draft part of the were you expecting three draft. I mean you you be put up some good numbers in college. I didn't want none of that. I didn't expect anything and you know Ozzy's. A Crook Ozzie Ozzie stalked me for nothing man but he gave me opportunity that was more than I can say about thirty one other teams. You know L. Late in late in the process. Kansas City chiefs came through and you're they actually offer me a at that time when you only got a five hundred dollars signing bonus opposed to fifteen thousand about signing bonus you know that was that was a real decision. I had to make early in life. I've always been able to be able to see the long game and not worry about like the short time gratification gratification of of getting a fifteen thousand dollar signing bonus but then I gotta live in Kansas City right and I was already going to school in the Mid West. I knew what that was all about. I mean you'd think Saint Louis this is. This is a Shithole. What do you think Kansas City was going to be. Well not okay. I love scans in all your emails and the potty mouth polk but he does bark because right now. I think people don't understand so it's it's easy so you're talking about getting drafted in late round dinners guys who are undrafted like yourself. we know the fact that when you step into training camp forty-six added a forty eight already filled already. There's are a I mean starters. The starters backups backups. You're really behind behind the eight ball you walk on your walking on but in the League is different because I was Germany Lynn but people don't understand you go from really being a bitch boy a holding the bags. You don't voice tells me a comb yeah. That's that's what they're hiring you four tackle dummy right how was because. I think people need need to hear the mindset mindset. Yeah you need to have to step into that position. Knowing what it is from the door absolutely are going in. I knew that the odds were against me stacked against me. Those funny funny because what happens is when you get when you go to rookie camp you get off the plane and they keep a bus there at the airport and they wait for everybody flights to come and that's like at the time were guys are measuring guys up and remember. I was in the same draft class as as every get their aries there. You'll be ill. Some other guys is there were highly touted. The Ravens had all these compensatory picks because you know they lost a lot of people in their expansion draft couple years before they lost you know Ozzy special yeah yeah so they say they lost offset Sam Adams and and they lost Shannon Sharpe and all that stuff I believe sharper went down to Texas in expansion draft all that stuff so it was a bunch of draft picks and you Kinda plug them in already and the fortunate anything in a reason why I picked the ravens opposed to the Kansas City chiefs is that because they were purged because art modell went all in to win a championship. He wanted to win a championship before he died so he wanted in two thousand and they back to the playoffs in two thousand one but they were so far salary cap that I knew I'll have more opportunities and oddly enough when I got there. Ray Lewis was was in a whole dot contract because he was twenty six at the time to me seemed like he had been league forever but came up the Super Bowl. MVP and he was trying to get paid and all that stuffs that created an opportunity to door but to go back to originally what I was talking about getting on the bus you get on the bus you see all these guys all puffed up on mountain dew all jacked up creating doubt they went to all these you know premier training facilities and I had to train at my school because I didn't know if I was going to have to go get a job or all five and it's funny because I'm looking at these guys is in the mindset is listen Bro. Understand that you went to Miami. I understand that you went the Michigan but guess what that University King Save Yo ass right now. we all equal now so you can you can look at me. Have you want to say I went to Southern Illinois. I didn't play with no. All Americans have three draft picks on my on my defensive line add to do that. You do make chicken salad out of chicken. Schick so I'm more than you think I am and we go see when it comes down to man for man because somebody's GonNa go home disappointed me because of your universe and I never heard your name Zachary yeah but it but it's GonNa be you and we'll find out because what happens is. We put these pads on. We all the same and I'm willing to go further than you willing to go. You know so you know going into camp. It was funny man because nobody knew anything about me and it's the whole story. Joe Ortiz always tells because they found me in the middle of nowhere. They didn't WanNa work. The out who's Scout Joe Ortiz was he was the scout right underneath Phil savage who was the head of college scouting who went on later to become general manager for the Cleveland Browns A got. A lot of people don't know is the reason he became general manager. The Cleveland Browns is probably because he found me and like a like it was like waterboy field of dreams right because house where because you know when it started with this guy named T. J. mccray and he asked the Chicago bears because back in the day they used to share air scouting right because we're not video and couldn't get good film because you know teams that have poor teams really didn't have quality at that time. VHS tapes so so they were share like scouting data because Chicago was not that far from only actually two hours because this was the time when soldier field was being renovated church and they were down in Champagne so Chicago told the raves that was nothing to look at well and he said you'll let me get the tape anyway and and you know that that put a whole nother chip Mushota 'cause they told me how can we talk radio story yeah so it was like you know like they said look at but I I say let me see the tape for myself and evaluated anyway you know so is one thing for you not the lack of care but it's another thing to kill his dreams and his opportunities for somebody that made like him yeah. I mean but you know it's a it's a shady. It's a Saturday in a savage world you know so. I went there and and really I I was the only one there like I was the only one of my team even qualify to even look at me and the only reason they stopped to see is because Tj was like hey stop. I got this kid. Lloyd always think you want to look at them and they stopped there on their way to set paying to go to the University of Illinois the U. of I and I I went down. I ran a four or five one like thirty nine inch vertical you know and I I jumped like a eleven to like like they tried to straight up break me and my coach told me before you say listen. If you run a four seven bark just walk out. It's over your dreams. Oh wait go get a job. I've been there Dabuma to me off when I when I remember you bankrupted their whole organization no but I I get that feeling you brought when you made me think about it because I had I visited damn near thirty two teams. I just was on a plane every damn we shake hands in and out the door type situation. I worked for four teams on a Monday. My Pro Day was on Thursday so the teams that didn't WanNa. Come to my pro date. It was like a we work with you on Monday. It was the bengals the bengals the car news tools may have showed up and I think maybe Green Bay and you talk about break. You try to break me was I was crazy. After that I had want steel. Doc was coach at the time for the Eagles Ter- and he tried to break me to go and then Thursday is the pro day which I wanna jump at thirty seven. I WANNA adventure. I WANNA do up to twenty five times. I'm shot like I'm side and all these guys only scouts at the time we understand it was me Margaret from Saints Stephen Bone so we were kind of like the Golden Year of a small school of schools and I can remember like just couldn't turn engine broken laser shot. You nervous service. You don't know how your turn up in your head. You think you run a fast and you look. I mean they. Cauca calendar is bad. You know it's bad but you just gotTa go do it so oh. I remember saying to myself. There has to be a limit on how they work these kids because they really they seen enough taste of abuse. The crazy thing thing is at least you had a team to kind of like. Come on you. GotTa go. It was just me to a field empty stadium. Nobody do enjoy not he smile and I'm looking at it but this book is about you know what I mean like. He bit asshole. They dislike put it down. They won't tell you shit. We'll tell you number nothing because they don't want you to go music for somebody else. Oh we also. I mean three hours. Do work me out Geez. Take no water this go right. Just break me yeah. I would not break now. I was so fucked in this. I don't even remember my senior year. All I know is I had to go to class. I got a report car that was so tunnel vision man so so motivated to show all the people that told me I couldn't do something to make sure that they can put their fucking foot in their mouth so like so when I get there and I finished and I'm like man. You'll like you know how do he's like. He's like man. I'm GonNa tell you this. He's like I don't want to come here and I thought like it was a total waste of time. Only reason I came here because I was on my way to you by Namie. He was like man. You just put the best workout of had since draw bell. He was like combine. My number numbers numbers would have been better than almost anybody. I worked out so he went back to Baltimore. 8-o Phil Savage feels funny because Phil Savage tells this story Foolish Shit but Phil Savage tells the story because Phil Savage was the president or or for the senior bowl cups senior bowl so so he still it kind of tells a story every year as to start telling this story every year to every rookie coming into hey you can be the next Barscott and he was like listening. I I didn't know they discussed among each other not to tell anybody what my numbers were and I was like their little secret so in Baltimore papers. It's like this whole article. Article is line of articles about me being a little secret and I didn't play immediately for it but you know I ended up turning out to be a pretty good player so phil savage got promoted voted off of me. TJ mccray who found me was original scowl. He became the head of scouting for for Cleveland and Joe got promoted as well and the guy from Chicago fucking fired because they were like how can you miss this guy. He's right in our backyard so I I like to think I rewarded awarded people that took a chance on me and I thought the person that tried to fuck me. Damn that is a story I love. That's crazy so the first few years in with the Ravens you know you're kind and I'm a special teams ace silverback James Harrison the exact we fuck awards man yeah we was clipping shit out each other yeah with the you know you just kind of alluding to that the steelers ravens rivalry kind of you two were both in it during the height of it yeah. I got a little earlier this season war hero about we're we're fully vested. I start my first couple of years so it's great point. I didn't see maybe a year to best in it before. my first or star was like two thousand six on Monday night football and Halloween that was my first career start ever was against Pittsburgh against the Pittsburgh Bursts tillers and like ray her Louis Hamstring in a paper. All Week was like how to fuck the ravens run gain. Apo- Fast Williams like who the hell is Bart Scott and Tommy POW. We'd like to Barbecue Chicken all day you know in Monday night football so my first start is in Monday night football at hinds fall in Heinz field on Halloween fucking ravens and got down Stiller's and you know what they thought they were going to break. Rex created his defense called hall defense. There was only option defense and I was off the ball like ten and ten in yards and we had like two guys in front of me then the defensive line and they were slant and the other gods came automatic bliss which allowed me to be free scape gripper and I ended up probably having like twelve tackles like a pick in quarterback hits and they're like who the fuck that was the way I got my opportunities because when you're undrafted free agent a young guy you're only going to get a couple. You only reason I got to start because ray was hate. No My ass before so like God you guys linebacker got punished by God for being a hater so the week before I'm sitting there and Ray twitches his hamstring and it's like okay you go get your first start. I'm like Haley called you that no helmet giveaway he does so. I did a bar. You'll get your first star in the playing against Chicago bears. The Tom Jones led Chicago Bashar an here and I'm and I'm sitting sitting there talking to call. My mom like mom. Listen can go. Tom Don't tell nobody of course he told every fucking but don't tell nobody. I think I'm getting my first start like just tone in washed washed game. I'm GONNA give them a first start so she like baby says he tells everybody all week. Shannon's on TV now because he's retired. You Got Rod Robert Woodson. That's doing television retire. All weekday gas reopen the meat of Bush sugar. GonNa play Blah Blah Blah. Blah Ray doesn't practice the entire week right so I get on a second bus. I'm excited I fucking seeks locked and loaded like I've been practicing it all. We got AUTODROMO Automo- my shit right. GotTa say they've rates on the bus sits down next to me. Hey man what's up my children thinking about words courage. I think I'm a co two day. Look Joe. This is on the last bus. Yes yeah the last buses early but just the last bus all day unlike pre game meal gas card this talk today. So what am I going to say. I'm like really awesome so we sitting there there. They don't even have the tape on his path but they brought him but ain't nothing his locker and even decided nobody thinking. GonNa play all of us. Of course you say you'RE GONNA play. Don't play Mike Reiss. Oh Shit on Thomas Jones's a rainy muddy day. You know Chicago high address everybody a stretch or pitch to the right side good. Oh right shoulder pot Li Mao. I'll sit down goals fraser. Put that damn after he got the ball Adam. Thank you Jesus thank you. Jesus following weakness got my first dark. Israelis behavior one of my favorite Bar Bar Scott so my my so two thousand six's my rookie we go to Baltimore but as you understand by this time the steelers have won their super bowl two thousand five Detroit Choi Buses last game is to be exact so as a guy coming in Pittsburgh. When you get drafted onto a super bowl team it's almost like do you want to just everywhere you go the law of the hype? Everybody's like steeler steeler steelers so we go to Baltimore. I'm not very familiar with this deal of Baltimore. I've yeah I understand what the people tell me. I'm straight out of the Bronx New York. I grew up in New York. Jets jets giants my mother's only Pittsburgh Fan and my whole house will google first game. We go to Baltimore. I think it's like a fall day. At this time my office a line is Marvel. Smith Alan Fanta Jeff Harding's harding's and a young Mac starts running back Willie Parker. I've been in a meeting room. I know the game plan. I'm not dressed with his game by the way so it's not like I'm coming out there to do anything. I'm I'm pretty much. I'm a fan at this point. Just has to be standing on his shirt. Baltimore comes now and it's like I can't I can't I can't really elaborate. Hey how intense does fucking intro is. It's almost like a Mad Max Times two times. It's it's the most insane at Eh. I came to Hofstra. Our budget was it's. It's only like your parents harbors. I've never seen nothing like this and I can remember you talk about intensity. I can remember so jeff. Harding's had a bad back bad knees so I can remember he goes Willie. Maybe a rookie does I'm Mormon up. Hold these footballs so I'm like okay. I'm in my sweat holding these footballs. He's he's in a separate. So if you've got any away from us like everybody gets dressed and it's like always a bunch of random empty lockers. He's doing yoga stretches. He's full off sweat in he's hiking football's as hard as he can into the fuck in his random empty locker and it's just me and him. What is he doing like. There's going to be taking this NATTA. He just gave me a ball commutable move and he's. It sounds like if somebody's doing that so anyway game starts. I can tell team long enough to tell by different moods at a team. It was like suiting up and heading into a battle that you know some tell me. Your boys aren't coming back from. I can't explain it like the look in their eyes Veran. Yes it was like every like I've been around enough. Guys embark till you. There's is enough guys who can go from Gangsta the girl right. I played them with a lot of gangs reporter. Hampton all these guys straight killers imaz but to see it was a stillness stillness like they knew somebody's not walking off the field to be exact that happened. Be The day where I've seen prior to one of the hardest hits I've ever seen from this man right here. We're on the sideline. A slide protection been quarterback and so pretty barking explained the defense the a little better than me so I think it's like it's it's sixty two you protection for us. It's NBA Mona fern side. If there's a guy in the B. gap the right tackle slide down to the running back. You take the man on the line of scrimmage right well. He comes uh-huh Lovely Bart Scott. This is the plow I I'm staying as I'm standing right here. Break the huddle big. Mac Starches at right tackle. He has immediate threatened to beget that gives a tap that he sliding down. It's called gap call years. I'm giving a gap call so really has at this point no that he's taking the last man on scrimmage two hundred five pound Louis Park Earth yes as well about a time when Max you gotTa stay in Baltimore. Baltimore Stadium is loud. It's hostile we already in silent count so everybody is glued in and try to see the keys. Max gives us tap willy doesn't see tap tap because he's looking at the other side of the field where Max was looking so he. They're both looking this way. They don't see bar and I'm saying to myself big. MACs does this see. I don't think really sees it so they're pros but the hell right Max once once again give the tap he slides down. I'm looking at Willie Parker. He goes the opposite way. It is absolute highway highway two bins face. It's a highway and I can remember it was like it's almost like ricky and boys in the hood. They we know then gets absolutely absolutely decapitated by borrow and for the first time I've ever seen in my whole career that somebody may have died. I almost died and Bart gets up and he's the only like a dog biting attire right and Ben isn't the first time I've ever seen also stamp somebody up and like a puppet on he was cooked and I was like this is different. It was different because not only did tizzy and intensity that preparation but at this fact you could tell to every player on that team from both. Oh sized by the way was literally looking for blood. It wasn't like because nowadays guys will hold up guys a role. They gotta do this was like if I got a shot. I'm not gonNA KNOCK DOC motherfucker like a Pinata. I'm not the stuffing out and so from then on I was birth to a a rivalry. Will you now realize fuck Detroit Green Bay. Whoever different this is like trips this is this is some light? If I see you on the street there still may be some smoke from the heated intensity and passion so I credit Barscott probably from MEC- and one of the top five one of the hardest it's I've ever seen on football and the respect was okay as Pittsburgh Week and you knew we used to call the double Chinstrap Day. Let's discuss for no no no no pushy. Listen don't come out this motherfucker. Tahoe auto accident because like an introduction was like when I was on the style album just james trapped plex go bursts like fucking God into scrap on the sideline like what the fucking got myself into a full fist fight straight up I fly so james trapped after the play tackle plex plex gets up in his face he slams lamps places cold big jumps in airline. Bruce Lee with his cleats all lands on his chest. PLASCO GETS UP PUNCHES THEM SCOOPS THEM. They get ojected. They're fighting up the tunnel. You know what I mean. I'm like what the fuck you know. It's like it's like every day. You knew all shit watch off behind because is going to take a pill back somebody looking for somebody killed. Airdrie one year they insult to injury. I think he was returning a punt James Harrison talk about three but it was like we have this thing is when we knew in Pittsburgh came that you're gonna be sore for the next three days and it wasn't no such things like we didn't. We didn't practicing pass after we play Pittsburgh because we everybody had to heal up. Yeah I mean the the funniest one was which fullback I. I gotTa tell this story so this is I think we have the throwback jerseys on now now and this is probably my second third league bar. If you've ever any play contested bart shut the fuck up like he just he's. GonNa talk to you from Nipple Cool pre-game warmup so Baltimore used to do and I hated it and I thought it was so fucking stupid. Would they just love to do it. They will come out with their shirts rolled up to the top happening right with. LBJ everywhere vastly no bullshit. We'll matter how cold how cold it was just loads vastly into the arms. They all know what bodybuilders builds running along the field right and then they're talking. They're tall bars at the dam fifty talking shit this coming from Joey Porter's former teammate right yeah yeah. Let's see Joey. He was only one that was kind of. Doing that didn't have a six pack. He was nobody like these. All these guys look ripped up but the all arms are ripped all talk and should they look like a pack of dogs when we walked onto the field and so barr is talking the whole Goddamn game and we had a fullback by the name of Dan Kreider whose whose party most blue-collar hard-working some bitch. I've ever met didn't say a Whole Lot Virgina John Colin yes who didn't say just produce bald his ass off the office office coordinator at the time was Ken whisenhunt loved him. Everybody'll Russ Grimm was my office along coach. Love Anyway fast forward. Bart's Talk Your Shit. All I see is Dan like go. You know what I'm GonNa. Shut him up and then talk. Dan Doesn't talk. He doesn't know what to the Sinai daughter time out. So so what happened was like it's four minute offense. We clearly lose a game. It was always up to the winning in Heinz field like the book and goals to Christmas Pass Weird Shit ever happen. I remember fucking Ryan Clark and Willis mcgahee knock each other so so I'm I'm going on silent. This is like how to respect for Tom. Tomlin so DASS Talkin can shit is like four minute offense. Everybody knows that run the ball run o'clock. I'll put whatever so go to silent on a TV time and my math fuck you Dan. I'll knock your punk okay. I saw you always talking. They're shipped. Fuck you so like the play before I had tackle Willie. Willie may go get you killed. This is really focused. Suck sucks so he pops off book you mother Fucker like he goes to the satellite. TV time off so I go over there to their sideline all teams somewhere else is so Tomlin homeless sitting there and I'm like man fuck you so we arguing and Thomas Lives a coach. Hey I'm like put this forgetting. Betcha Nakas punk ass talking aww Shit just like he looked like you want fuck. Yeah I WANNA go. Tom had his hands cross. He's like Gogi today. So this is my fucking rent out there with this shit up you know. I mean she'll like that then. I'll let really finish for so gets gets in home use MANAKA's asa drop. It was pretty much eyeso- dive and I I'm base blocking on the frontside and God Damn Bart. It sounded like I'll never forget this sound. It sounded like a car running into a brick built. It was and so the place we all stand up and bars. I told you I told you I was. GonNa Knock your punk ass out. I told you go get him to all data. You put them in a body bag. He's screaming screaming. Screaming dance stands up and I've never seen this his eyes rolling around his head like a like a lunatic he he you just can't figure it out so he's trying to staggers back to the to the huddle and we're getting ready to go to play. I think it was going to switch Dan out and dams like no no no. I'm staying out I'm staying in on Fine Vanik. It looks at them and I look at them. Oh no you ain't unite even like his is a copper he can hit his is together. We gotta get him Outta here and the first time I've ever seen Dan is walking off the field and his legs go spaghetti bar. I told you the whole time up to the sideline. Talk Shit those sit another one out here going to happen again. He actually fell out and they had to go to TV time because he had to stop and take a knee so this was an organized denies Oklahoma drill. There's Mike Tomlin sanction shop. You Ball. Put that point on I bought I've been Pittsburgh a couple of times after that financial literacy program also Fall Company. I used to work with and you know he'll come in. He'll he saw me 'cause some of the guys there thought I was full of. Shit you know you are you getting a corporate world and you tell them what you the main thing. I want both ways to school uphill acerbic fucking lie funny because they came back remember. They did that special on us when we're talking about about the rivalry and they interview both sides you know maybe we is war man. I I wanted to fight fair. Does he not fuck Ed Reed as outbound outside but Jerry Johnson finally got him back a couple years later. It was like one of those things like has had memories yeah because the craziest thing that happened. I always had this thing where like the veterans you would pay Brookies for like certain things that they do so like on Friday. They will come with lists like okay. This is how much money he may forget a knockdown. You Knock Somebody Donald Special because what we WANNA do in Baltimore. Is We understood that it wasn't a glamorous job to be like a role player. There and you don't really get paid that much money so we will have a pot in our pot. It wasn't like some bountygate pilot that but it was clarified yeah Stephen Ears to talk show. Did it bountygate band light. I tire exactly nobody's buying the Jersey with gutter so so so if you've got a tackle inside the twenty first kickoff there was like two thousand thousand dollars and then every time you got one there at the words it was a thousand dollars and if you took a kickoff back home like a kickoff back on special teams you so you would get the the person who returned to get thousand everybody else on that was on the field. Get five hundred dollars right so we had this player called on Nakimora. Forget knock his first name. Hey y'all had a guy from Cincinnati to because he will dry yeah so yeah so Monday night football. We like Yo call them angry man yeah so we like. We like two thousand dollars man. I could kick off inside of twenty. I say knock. Yo if you not somebody else game and I play. I got two grand for right. Put It on his head. Come Down He. He does swipe techniques like I play. We run out there on the defense. Get started like book carries whoever whoever to do this from from Cincinnati these name was Andrea for a carries his ass out on a stretcher. He broke his back so he knocks but turns out the he was his roommate in college but that's what I'm saying. I ain't no brothers one. I know frizzy. Ingeborg fuck breaks his back. We come back. We we played in later in the season. I play the game. They said. This is not kids. Ask So it's like one of those things but you kept the fucking ledger about what happened and who's on fucking list where we had to stay red. Dot and I'm sure they have some shit to getting this today and they we had the same thing so you you always on age man. You'd never stood around Paul's. Y'All got the big ass fight but cleanup standards apologize cleanup Louis Up Yeah Hello Dave Punchy Butts kicked out the game. I want to ask you does bark. Do you and I know we're talking. We're going back and forth between steelers lose in in in culture of Baltimore but for those who didn't who don't know Baltimore because when you talk about Baltimore just our defense. That's what but it was more to that team. There's a lot that happened. During during the glory years for everybody doesn't Know Baltimore and only knows the defense yeah hockey you explain to culture of Baltimore during that time as a whole brotherhood insulation ship everything and I'm sure it's just like the distillers organization because the the reason arriver soul intense because we're built the same way in the same type of players right so for every case he happened. You had you had you're. You're killing Asia right for for every Larry Foot. You have myself for every ill joy porter fair Mary. You had a ray Lewis for every Paula Milo you had to add reach or the only thing we never really got he turns into that later was a Ben Rothlisberger which flacco won won the Super Super Bowl so he became that you'd think about you know Todd Heap. You gotta look at Heath Miller so it's like we were. We were splitting image. Every tell in the culture also was like any mean necessary for my brother and everybody came in. There were first round draft picks. You know you WanNa talk about Ed Reed. He was who's going to be in stride this weekend. He was a twentieth pick. He was in the twenties. You think about Eric. He wasn't a the number one pick. Jonathan Ogden was the number one pick that year right so you think think about Max starks you think about a fanta. They were built the same way with quality guys who are willing to sacrifice the individual goals for the team goes and it is all about sacrifice knows what wasn't about being a big guy being the biggest guy and I know ray got a lotta shy when he left. He says we'll got to shy but he waited his Turkish. It shine stop you the shot because let's talk about that. I I think that's important so you plan. What Ray Lewis Tesol every even deadliest Thomas. He got the bag when he trades. I mean you you use a US where the hit squad Peterborough Ware Peterborough where to hold guys Trevor Pryce. No you left. Did you leave Baltimore because you felt like you needed to shine that you feel like you media. I mean that was part of maybe finding my voice right showing that hey I can take what I've learned here and I can take this and imported in New York and because the contract with the same for the Ravens in jet it was just is he had a little bit different as far as a skilled deprivation but pretty much was both like forty six forty eight million dollars. You want to Retire Arabia. Instead of I mean I thought at that point it was I let the Ravens because my love for Rex Ryan right remember at it is time hardball was just there for one year and every every player's personal not being was upset and angry that rex get opportunity become the head coach you know sometimes it's now's the whole lock down with it was it was a couple of mutinies like the first year harbor day you know we went to the AFC championship against you guys lawsuit for the third time all the time which is better knows for Antonio Hall all going out of the end zone possession catching the ball coming out also playing across your the plan never had possession and that was the last play the game. I think the difference but if it okay so we all WanNa rex get the head coach but you understand saying how hard it is because sometimes you've been around a coach for a long time. He may have started a certain way so it's hard for ownership and sometimes some of the players to see him in a in a in a position of power. We see this a lot when you see guys come interim coaches and like it. They thought that maybe rex couldn't have the discipline the plan to discipline Ray because he he was defensive line coach then he was defense coordinator and so they pass they pass on him. Jason Gary passed on job. Wow well he. He passed on the job and went back to Dallas to become a coordinator on any way became a hit goes later and we were all upset so a lot of times. It was like all out fuck you. Harpo is seen as an out of the box higher that time suspect anything before and he came in preaching Tonette. Hey in in in Philadelphia we used to do this. We like I remember him saying that guy stand up like excuse me what we will do anything right right. The Eagles defended fucking Baltimore. Yeah we all need no help from nobody we standard always Pittsburgh number. One defense bought when defense likes hitting the books. We wrote the book that hold a Niba stack them up for a free safety and bliss and we did that. We like Dolphins Booth Joe Fuck that he might be able to make our roster taking their reach spot took. You're talking about yeah so like I've seen a couple of times he almost it was almost a couple of fights light innocent mutinies while encamped but anyway but that was just because of the love of wrecks so even though we had a great season. I was like I know more about rex rex and do about this harbaugh guy and you know when you know bill was can't cream puff and Crema days call it. It's called the can't cream puff because the when you went in there with like if you went there for if you're in your second year the second camp you can go home and stay in your house over really yeah. This is the ravens coach Brian Billick coach coach yeah so it was they call it cream puff damn he would say yeah so we had this thing other than like the Eagles and the Patriots at the time. Nobody had one more like like games than US November December because that that was part of his plan. He never beat us up so like what a horrible harbaugh came in and wanted to be the opposite. Go Get your legs giving you lakes. I'll give them back to you like you gain. You'll know by lake. Take them back. Mondays might be they. They might you know what I'm saying so so it was it was always attention back and forth that way and so called some attention no no not me at all I mean I still I was like you know. I used to remain the foot soldier yeah because you know I got a second contract. So my second contract was like a three year deal you know because that's what I ah star playing so like I went to the pro bowl like my first year as a full star that year I got via had ten lights out to you that ten years since I remember it was like for me. I was just like well. Whatever 'cause I came from a d one AA man. We've had three days so like I say I'm here. You couldn't break me. I mean I had three today's like a toilet as saying so like you know like other guys. I really was choice. Smith funny because Troy was a rookie and choice Memphis state yeah yeah he was supposed to be the starter that year and you know he got sick with some type of intestinal like illness and lost twenty eighty pounds wow so he miss. He missed his small to begin with well. He was built like Russell Wilson Yeah but you know he's he lost weight. He never recovered and that kind of ended his opportunity to get an opportunity. Tony so I came to New York because like rex was like talking like less brain is thug stuff up to to to to to the jets to be honest. I didn't even remember anything about the nude to have Brett Farr two year before panic ahead went. There and I didn't even know Kris Jenkins one see. I didn't know who joins us from Jason Taylor Dole Jason income onto like my Second Yorker so like I don't know who Leon Walker wasn't who Thomas Jones was. I didn't know Calvin pace because he was in Arizona but you know the jets have been kind making moves but I read strictly on rex line faith. I didn't even know who the fuck will. I never heard of derail rivas. Nobody knew shit about the Puck by that time. Nobody knew shit. I carry roles. I know when I got here. Okay these guys that have been doing things in this division. I mean because I was all about about the thug life you know what I mean to date. You Know People WanNa talk about Oh you. You'd be always hating on for on the Patriots. Don't even fuck about the Patriots. Man uh-huh hated these motherfucking. Even when I was with the jets the still has kept me from super. Bowl three times facts three consecutive. AFC Championship happy instead of the two of them was these motherfuckers fourth and one or first and goal from no fucking one and you give the ball. You'll get a ball to got down. I'm fat ass Sean Green. Lt All and you're trying to older ball. That's what hurt me. That never got a chance to actually go there but it was these flexible when people they would like to say. Oh you hate the Patriots hater. No I can give to fly fuck what no real shit going on one or by getting cleaned up the Patriots out scheme. Ain't nobody knocking you. Knock your Dick Stiff and it'll by fucking peeling back on you. Ain't nobody fucking spearing hines. Ward fucking trying to cut you from behind it. I'd get to fly pucks about. I tell them all the time. It was a Lotta this whole places Patriot bill you see by the fucking colors I was like I've never felt cheated walking off the field playing a patriots you play Baltimore Norman. I can remember having anxiety like I can't. I can't explain like Wednesday Thursday Friday. I had the worst for the year because I knew it was gonna be a gut. Let's check check. Check your manhood. That's at least twice a year or two and right but it's it's different different types of Tennessee where it's like okay what defense go make the big play. Yes set up the all fan who gonNA get fucked up process. Am I going to get fucked up on national TV. It's one thing for bill belichick scheme. You like reverse paths. You didn't know the four makes is nothing wrong. Step on your chest and put his taking your I. I stop in your boy Carla. Why did you gotTa take the fucking Joanne out man. You're Mama's like they my son. That's a different type of respect is one thing it'd be beat mentally. It's another thing to be physically. Tell people. It's like watching fucking mayweather. I pay and against the pages all the alcs Game Day. Newark get jabbed to death like fight nashes watching fucking Diego Corrales. It has some of your you know like both sides. We'll get knocked down yeah and it's like who'd have the balls to get back up to Maine so you buy and it didn't matter Adam big big lead early in the first coordinate ship meals you know Lee was say three three behest I mean they do the whole thing about how like most of the Games were won like by one or two points like that's a totally different fucking philly man so when I came up with the with the with the Patriots for me it was like I felt cheated because us. I have a need contact Avenida violence. That's why the Ravens was a person perfect team for me. I mean if I could say that would ever want to play for the team. It would have been a steelers because to be on the other side of that. One have a quarterback that you feel like if you fuck up. He pulls a rabbit out his ask me something. I never felt because I got Sanchez. He was young got FLACCO. He was young so I always felt like I wonder what it would have been like to be with a League quarterback and have a thug defense like I'd never wanted to go to the colts and then one because I never wanted to be the liability like it's one thing and people say whatever you want you. You want to win a certain way. I don't WanNa win by being older part. We just need you guys not to be worse today. To fuck wants to be data. We do want to beat him up fucking that you step out there and we used to call it. The bird flu bird flu and it was like okay. This is on the injury report questionable probable book this Motherfucker Game Plan Notice. Ain't shit because you knew if it was if you had a little thing it was going to be broke. Were if you had a headache migraine. You want that responsibility. I wanted to respect you stepped on that fucking field you tell people that you play for the Ravens. You tell you you play for the steelers. I don't give a fuck if the team won a million fucking sue is a different level respect. They know that you like like that's a bad mother. Fuck look like yeah whatever you guys ever guys can play football and they get the respect because they're talented. It's another thing for more. What type do you are you a football claire but this a man's man right here if you crack that line of you could be respected and that lineup fuego walk them streets where it at uniform for a long time? Maybe your mother fucking thought the best compliment I've ever received was from the guys I play the steel curtain when he watch you play can say Willie if he was on my team. If you around my time I know you'll be playing we use words Clinton Montana and author at coast and embarks right when people the reason why people go back to the robbery oil current current state in which we played is because the consumer had an appreciation for the appetite for blood and I think it it was highlighted during videos it was highlighted during interviews it was highlighted during everything we did because NFL at the time was that you have see before you have see he became popular and to watch a UFC back day. You had to go to the dark web yeah so have you weren't about that dark web life ner it was the NFL so I totally understand why you say to yourself you know I I come from Baghdad. I'm not worried about the mean streets of Cleveland Streets of Newark New Jersey. I'm from Baghdad to different types Duggan. Yeah I think when you got the jets answer this question too when you got to the jets in particular towards the back of the career allow people who say after the year you guys lost us an AFC championship that broke Rex Ryan's career not broke the jets. Is that true false. I I don't think so because remember the next year we were eight and seven we win one game playoffs. That's been San Antonio in San Antonio which means I mean he he he got into an argument said Tony you play with him. Yes I had he was a talented player. Nobody cared more than San Antonio about the win. He'll put it all out there on the line but he had got a bad way of communicating because he couldn't articulate where really what his what his heart was saying he couldn't and that's a lot of players. Great fucking stayed at a lot of players the deal with that and the problem with that is they get labeled as undisciplined troublemakers labeled as somebody they can. Tony was right well the twentieth problem what bars trying to also elaborate is when you care that much about winning sometimes your emotions become. I say you know what I want the ball because Xyz Xyz this is what I see. You're saying instead of saying. I need to ball 'cause. They can't stop hold. You don't WanNa hear that. It's two different type of commerce. Antonio was a guy that would be up clapping. He was only offensive player when the defense was up. You'd let him walk my defense. He's more flexibility he over there clap in. I mean he wasn't that like they put their purposely put his locker next to me and he was sitting next to me in an immediate because remember the year before he won like four game for last minute like take a slave in one we got him. We got him in trade and this New York. Media Savvy is different so come from Pittsburgh. You know coming old. I don't who your head like. When I was in Baltimore. We have one asshole reporter and we got to but the ruins of the mafia's so they really care a lot of stories printed but like you see how it happens at New York athletes what happens man like the Yankees are probably like one of the greatest dynasties the last two years have been spectacular. I mean they lose to red. SOX is like the puck and skies fuck is bolt on like we'll go run away with the division back so so so San Antonio couldn't handle the questions every day and one caution came out he was talking about like you. Bob Getting Open Down Phillies. I would offense law got a block. Better and bone here comes division. I knew that he didn't mean it like that right right right like hey. We can get some more explosive plays. If we established a run we can get the eighth man in the box and then you know we get to play action going then it'd be able to get some more stuff Donna Phil but but because we can't run the ball right now so foresaw train train the media. What are they do? They go to brand more fucking grout. You know what I mean. He response go back so then when you get to the AFC you get to the the Miami game. Attention was this again. This is two thousand eleven occur and that's when I came out and they almost got into fighting ends on a winning drive. All we had to do is get a bill in the playoffs. I did not know yeah. Any Day is getting into fighting. They had be restrained time. I'll ask we're trying to fuck a win. The game the same mother fucker like Hey y'all of scranton I shouldn't have the right and that's when they thought wrecks the REX issue was that he was loyal to a fault. I say that all the time and that he loved to Har and that he would put total trust in his assistant and total trust in his coaches and that was his problem that he didn't have enough asshole in now. I know you seem. Let's go get a fucking snacky looks like this tough guy but he's a fucking. He's a fucking teddy bear right right so he can make tough decisions and be tough when it comes to that it's like when you look at somebody who this killer fucking when it comes to his kids that's Kinda. How REX is either killer flood bill bill for fucking snack but then like one is coaches. Hey man cool man you got you can do better map Alevi. Come on you can do it he and that which is probably he wasn't cutthroat enough with coaching staff to a couple of friends weeks was around all his boy you. WanNa give his friends with these tea was comparable coach but like weeks was the guy got. There really wasn't adding much but he was his best friend so he's a writer dot lawyer like you might. WanNa make any higher rob that was like the Qissa death because one you you have over your brother who got the Davinci Code like you got and he thinks he's Justin Tidal. He knows as much as you know and you're the boss and then it's like a it's like a lack of WHO's who's in chart so when he got a second opportunity. I believe it was too early. It's too early what the Buffalo within the division same thing that Gheysens risking can the fact that you don't learn less than sometimes when you get another opportunity because what was what was the punishment for you not learning right. You still got another job. He actually you gotta race so like cases in in in in tricky territory. The only difference is he has a young quarterback that can say the day that can raise a lot of the issues that he had. I don't even know who the quarterback was fitzpatrick down there. WHO's a quarterback when he was in Buffalo. I don't even fucking manual. He's a manual can have fucking the fighters chairs. Fighters Chat so you know rex was loyal to a fault now. Desire is dollar yeah tyrod. That was awesome. His downfall is so mean Steve did did. I want to keep you too long because I know you get Outta here we talk about the life of NFL player right in me and you. I know for a fact share the same appetite appetite for the nightlife. I think a big problem with called officially quit sixteen. I I kinda was in that pool of a a lot of young guys. Don't talk to other young guys his jealousy. There's this it's a me culture said we culture. I went through out to you so Thursday tonight for the ballplayers stealers rather tonight we got together. We will meet at key. Christie Criss key Malta's House on South Eight. Am to uh-huh Chemo we would watch film. Play cards have strippers over have the hose over drink and have a day this is on Thursday night yeah Friday. They wake up and not mercer practice recover recover pretty much from nine all day. We got we got. We got after Friday's Sunday kick-ass. You guys can't do that. Yeah you did it. I know I did talk about why and what did you do those nights. Well mine's was it was called Monday night at Barks and it was my way of kind of blend in the offense and defense wind black young and old altogether was Monday night at bar so it was at my house wife never came aim down was all good we watch Monday night football shoe pool shoot bullshit because we did on Monday night because Tuesday's off day yeah so like you can recover from all the damage judicial and also it created a excuse for the Mary guides because they had the balls to tell me why pay with the fellows. We bought to go half fun. I'll see y'all. We all ask tomorrow so it was like. Oh they can tell their wives that it was mandatory to Hazeltine buildings. Shit like this year so we watch Monday night football you know and after Monday night football football we walk upstairs and I got to party buses. They're ready for us and it's time to hit the city so we hit the city. We had to strip club hit the club. DO WHATEVER WE WANNA. Do you know guys at didn't WanNa go that. I didn't have to ensuring that. We can do the wrong thing and the right way to go out. You can drink got worry about getting eighteen. Yeah you gotTA worry about. Oh by getting a dwi you gotta wear by. Nobody fight because we have player. Protects man just had a security what they as an ain't got. Nobody gotta be no no snow hill hero and things like that but also like you learn about a lot about people why they are the way they are if you spend real time with each other and you have to spend time away from from the feeling it can't be about football and it had nothing to do about football but you learn about why people are certain ways what have childhood you learn certain things what their triggers is are. You shouldn't pull away. You can't wait shooting dice while he drinking taking shots you. We got what I'm saying so for me. It was Monday night at Bart. Art and that's kind of some of the advice because sometimes I'm a mentor Jamal. We talk and and and that's kind of what I told him you know what I mean. That's what I told avery and that's what I told. Cj a lack of leadership lack of brotherhood and it's not their fault to yes this the cultural generation type of thing right because now they've person doing is they going today date and they spent so much time on social media and in their phones hold on their devices that they don't have communication skills so I man Willie like you don't matter I ran into you today. I didn't go fuck instantly. Got On your ass. Fuck it and you'll know me from Shit. You could have been crazy as our signature up your ass like all good. That's okay man here. Here's some ice after the where I would give isis saying but like because of the generation like they don't know how to sit in a Roman payable to work a room. They don't know how to talk to each other. They know how to open conversation so like what happens is when they leave they leave and they don't spend time see. US wease hang around. We stayed in the building we can't we can't we gamble like we like algorithms. How's the Ravens. We can come to the building anytime it was open to our guys used to take girls like bringing girls hot capable. Hey bring your whole in a hotel like Joe. Man- fun electrify say y'all got raped or something. You can't do shit like building. Come down the GO-TO after cheating. Go Wash your dig before for they go home. She'll make sure get quick. Wash facility yeah you. No you go you go. You Go. Put your workout clothes because his he's come spots on initiating. Make sure you plug it like it's like it was like throwing. Initially it'll go tips left bags like it's like John. Wick and shit like cleaning anyway but that was the culture like we sit around gamble with each other guys. That was always around so you always talking football and then you. It's like that nonverbal communication because I know you so well. No you better so that's how a rican come down a meal China. Whatever whatever signal he just make up some shit all right. Well it breaks what the fuck was. Jealous Laso told me to take the third that's a great point because we had that same relationship and in particularly office line with the steelers running back someone to hang out with his receivers wanted to hang would've been was always in and out but he was there when he when he couldn't be there and I try and I try to a lot of young guys and I bled you said is communication communication. I know for fat and verbal. If I'm you can put me in a bar right now. I know what my right guard sounds like a mix of ten thousand. I just know I know his voice on. Those cates annoy talks about what he looks like. I could be could be in a fucking train station. Ben and say say some. I can detect because we've been around each other like yeah. You know the pit in his voice how pissed off his yeah. I'll she de. That's just that's also how the Brotherhood has built also how bar snout online when he tells you when you're in a game. You don't have time to talk. I know everybody it gets caught up in the peyton Manning Omaha Shit when I tell you so much of the game as non verbal then I can tell you so much time because Baltimore Housh it was so novel because we were twins kids they knew was I remember one time. I was pulling and after he was Hamill Ray was real fat answers about the pool and I'm leaving at my knowing. How am I thought I can't move because Golf Sides Pool. They're sitting in a whole me. Kelly getting block back because he's pulling in. The center has a blog back. Kill your going to hell the hold on hold waiting for me and I'm just like Oh God load up bank and I'm like how did you know his laugh. Your fat ass was leaving so those those type of things. If you know what you're going August great opponent it like the Baltimore Ravens embar sky. You see him ray and you've seen all these guys. You have to build something outside of the game because it's so intense chemistry is so live live in a communication to the point where you're doing things just off repetition. You know what to go. You know what when you hear play. You just know how to react in a row so I I told you but I had I wanted to. I wanted you to say that because I think some people only highlight people going to listen to this and say well. They were drinking dude all this stuff but they don't know the the silver. The line is that is we were brothers doing the same thing same thing how many calls my wife understood like if a teammate car baby. I gotta go. God Damn out the baby. I gotta go just you you trip and I got my day fighting what they wives girlfriends. I go get him. They stay the night at my house and I mean or like my wife's counseling. Their wives lives about you know whatever they're going through. It was that type of stuff man like it wasn't just that it was the real family stuff still railleuse. Well you know me ray because because ray was dash caution I mean I was with Ray last week at his cat. You asked me to a financial literacy program with that. Ray was remember as older than me so oh like the older. Maybe it'd be Fanta like for me. It was family so so race so so ray six years older than me. Oh Wow so like he's like all due to me. You know what I mean like. The people that I like what's communique was like Terrell at Hartwell like those guys that helps vacationing with like ray was hanging with Shannon because dues in the forty fifties. I'm settling broke post career like like Diaz my guy but I don't hang with Diaz fucking fifty fifty euro we still tight and ran to Alan Rijkaard full backing Iran into like Corey Fuller Mc fool you but like those guys will older so the guys that I kinda still like Rockwood Erhard. Well daily is Thomas because those are the gods says closer my age and then plus they were so so super so big superstars. I got there yobs hanging with the broke out because I couldn't afford you can't afford that yeah. Yeah I gotta check in savings yet. Lanes financial obviously played some great defenses the two thousand six Ravens Defense divisively with to me the best of your group to me a and because we didn't win the Super Bowl to me I will put that defense up with the top five defense in NFL NFL history yeah. I mean you guys average. I think under toll point nine points a game allowed which is crappy eighty-five bears like I think that has better muscle you that that was a special year was pretty nasty. We I think that defense if we want super bowl woulda went down as a better defense in the two thousand thousand defense the number two thousand defense was that Sayi- the numbers are close. Are we have sixty one sacks willie cigarette cigarette. We led the League in every category and it wasn't even close now. The year rex came out with the Niba self when we were moving around and nobody knew who was who in a daily was playing corner. Yeah we called hold it. Can we call this guy so he was playing corner and then the league finally caught up to an old bar. Steve Blazey no matter where all right March we always said days is the the blessed Reno Ray fucking going in the holidays the fucking we called them the Jack like the joker whole guy fucking hold and trevor that a defense. I hate that that defense doesn't get remembered more red. I mean because look at someone to dominant defense. It was a different kind of dominant because I feel like when when you dominant in three four is more confusion than four three like a four three two four three two thousand ravens and the Tampa Bay buccaneers two two thousand two they were they were was lineup and beat the Shit Outta. You can bend don't break you can you can you can see everything they see. Everything coming. Ours is way more sophisticated that it was moving around like when he talks about that head on harding the reason Willie was looking over there because that's where I was and we knew that wants to center put put his head between his legs he Bliley snap and we had time to get to the other side Adele yes touch starch but he really was dropped her but starks had to respect him because he was going to be yep and see so after like on a genius level. Dow One because remember that's the year that the colts won the Super Bowl and you guys nesper points. Thank thank fifteen points. Chris and I think a hundred and forty two total yards no touchdowns and that was the only time ever in my life where I said fucking liar because he said we don't give touchdown the paint manny we can't lose fucking loss with three fucking fucking fuck advantage fucking vegetarian but you played a lot of great players on the on the Ravens go Jonathan Ogden on offense all the guys on defense add Ray Lewis. You mentioned all of them. you had rediscovered prime. Who's the best player that you've played with. Every Ed Reed not even close really every the best player I've ever seen now you you gotta understand what people hearing you say right now. You've played Ray Lewis. You've played next to a young derail ruse. When he was the Batson his parents island inaugural. Oh tails vitamin. What are the best top five greatest left tackle. I I'll stopped. I'll say he's one of the best football players I've ever seen top ten for me. I say Willie Roaf giant Auden and you can take your pick Waltz Jones and five though was on John but I think John was a little bit better than Yugo Moon. You'll see why Edry never seen. Oh Shit like that. Man and people people talk about like never seen anybody like play gangs in Bay. Peyton manning play gangs in Bait. Tom Brady like he baited the greatest players in food with as little bullshit speed turn like I know Paula all of my leukemia. After different type of dominance by Paula Milo was like a Tasmanian Devil. I was a strong safety wise every was like more of a free safety. Centerfield as he has some injuries wasn't as dominant as a tackler as it used to be but when I watch Paul Malo I saw a lot of shit that he took from Erie. We oughta hang around the line then going back and closed the half of the field. That's airy every we've been three point stance like he blitz off the air bounced back but people also forget about the touchdowns. He had EH returning punts. They forget about him. Being on a pump block team and well fuck is speed putting us like coming into muddle huddle with keeping offense running out and putting because like airy was blocking fucking kicks in you know what I mean so he was dominant and you know if you didn't see him in his early days. You don't realize how dominant he was. uh-huh anytime you need a big play you talk about you know the hundred six yard interception return against the Eagles then he did the same shit hundred or fi bye against like Cleveland these all like with the ball or like the five yard line win the game main so like I just never seen no shit like that never seen somebody hey bart take the fucking coastal coles the middle to fill and okay he jumps the fuck in three receive jumps to fucking slant in the wildcard the game against the pussycat against Chad Pennington filter game because he switches off the with me and he's supposed to be the fucking third player. He's jumping at three steps. Just fucking slack because it's film study crazy. I mean monster. I WANNA say this. me. Embar didn't really get close to I. I mean we always rivals always respected. Wright played yet. We never played together but I tell you listening to him. Talk Right now being around them probably with the most loyal honest honest as you can tell but one of the most religious people you'll ever meet and it was not only to play against you play against you but as honors on it to watch you grow because you've done a great job and I don't think enough fucking credit and I'll tell anybody how hard you work in the media game. I did the jets Esam. Why just is pre game this year? Now only was he dressed in an is but if you prepared as if he was doing the whole show himself and I thought it was a testament to the type of ballplayer. Uso has been honored pleasure. My brother likewise man respect goes both ways. You know I remember Bernard Hopkins told me was made Laszlo's as long as long as it was born and you know me and your hair because we real input into work and I think that's something that you know we are trying to steal my kids and that's something that that's how race I mean if it takes you ten hours guest do what it takes somebody else to do. It should matter loans. You get what you need at a life in that's just the way I go see you grinding brother. I see you doing your thing man and much respect whenever you need me back man. I bring you better Hawaiian shirt because that was bent. Wash maybe about ten times colors and shit our work. We find your during football season football season. Maybe you're doing a little bleacher. Dole little fan doing a little jet life. what's the show up to just show up how she's also handle to give him so uh-huh Damn. I don't even the Real Bart Scott and I think is sky fifty seven on twitter but I never owned that but I'm GonNa. Do you a better job. If I only pop there was some pop-ups by talking shit equal opportunities asshole. I don't care if he twelve or ten. You'RE GONNA learn the listeners the serpent turf pod tweets. Shit at Bart Scott Yeah getting as mentioned be about that. Actually I remember I went to somebody one time. They dad probably puffing like dude. He's twelve God damn. He needed respect. Is that all right thanks. Sonny awesome great interview with Bart Scott Willie. My favorite story was him knocking out. Dan Kreider not flow back here full fullback and just kind of sanctioning that with Mike Tomlin which is outrageous Mike Tomlin blinky yeah. It was a you know if you might call out. He'll get you like you want some of that either say yea or Nay. Most of you didn't say nay sometimes they are out there yeah but really great stories such an interesting insight especially going into steelers ravens week which is always a big game regards. This is a this is a very much a throw the record tuck out the window and these two teams. I mean it's going to be a slugfest yeah. I think it's you know it's fun talking to Bart about it because we both entrenched in the river. It's it's you know. The robbery isn't the same just isn't I mean you can't play the way we played. Have you know maybe they intensity. You know it's funny because if you watch a lot of talk about the college football is right. There's always robbery. That's all you better watch out Ohio State Michigan. It's nothing like he used to be. It does not times have changed. The culture has changed. The characters have changed. crises flagpoles. DENVER ONLY BEEN BILL Dillon in dealing with Tommy John you know so it's just a different different atmosphere what I do appreciate it. When people bring it up is that they go back to the time in which we play that it that people do did appreciate the Kinda bloodless. this these two teams who absolutely you know if you took a if you took a plane we're only an hour twenty five minutes away from each other and so listening to got to Bart's. I think response onto kind of his side of the story it does put you in a in does bring me back for the most part back in time and say you know what it almost seems unreal like was was that really me out there by sometime the more we talk about it. It's hard to believe that I was a part of that. that I I lived in such time I was able to be part of something that was just so bigger than me and I'll the whole situation was that I didn't I did my job. The whole situation was beating the Ravens three times James Yes. That was your Super Bowl simple year. You're talking about going the AFC championship and even Ryan Clark said that game before or we go to Tampa to beat the cardinals in a super bowl. The Super Bowl felt like we we played a super bowl re already against the Ravens. I mean you. I was exhausted man like I. I was was exhausted emotionally. Physically I was numb. I was hurting the city's on fire. Everybody's excited and I just wanted ice and I wanted a beer. 'cause it was such a physical match up and it was just it was just will too powerful pride. talking about pride power will fight grit guts everything you had and I said this at a at a comment with somebody had interviewed me a while back about this and and and I and I and sometimes I try I try to be careful when I talk about football war and battle because I never wanted to be that got but when I tell you I'm only using this metaphor because I really felt this way when I looked at loading not in the AFC championship game that and I I'm seeing it as I'm talking to you. We both looked at each other like fuck it like we were going to empty the clip on whatever we had because both teams contradict up. Both teams knew there. There was secret was out the bag right. You know we were going to run ball. They were gonNA run the ball. You know their defense players tough. They were you know vice versa so it was real. It just felt real. It was real intense. I remember having anxiety. I remember not being able to sleep that week. I remember being grouchy fucking week. Because I was just biting at the bit I just wanted to play and get it over over with so all that is real and it was good have twelve to see and to hear bar felt the same thing how important that game that wasn't wasn't to him as it was to me and US yeah this for steelers. It was just so interesting to get his perspective. You know obviously on the black L. side but his being on the ravens side just kind of their culture culture kind of that defense went through when rex left and John Harbaugh took over and just kind of the mutiny almost. I was shocked to hear that I didn't. I didn't see why I'd never heard I've never heard that story so that was new to me when he said I kind of said wow because is harbaugh is one of those guys who you kind of forget. That bill was there. Yeah you kind of say okay. You know we but he you'd never respected. There was pushback you know so. I think for raving fans. I'm I'm wondering if they knew that yeah so. I was also interested to hear how he said that Billick Ilich Gran what was notoriously called. Cam Cream puff whereas you've talked about your training camp. I mean our first show with you and Ryan Clark has talked about what a hard hitting training camp. It was the job and you know on the other side of the coin. You got the Ravens who under billick would just be at their house a couple of days. After after you know the first practice yeah training camp for me. Especially during that time was it was physical because it had to be because just because of the reputation we had as a team on the organization you know when we when we take we traveled to the West Coast and we were planning Arizona's San Francisco or even who's in Oakland people in at the hotel will be like man they would never talk about the steelers others like a finesse or you know tricky or cool they always talked about us like we all had at least ten years prison sentence like we were all gaces and thought they had two week so we kind of lived up to that but I think the brand of football and wished I would. I was kind of handed over to us and we talked about the steel curtain mean Joe Greene. Those guys is Jack Lambert. Those guys were nice guys. Mean Joe Greene is I think seventy five results. He's old man. He's still talking me. You know what I mean. So that that kind of culture we was birth into so we always excuse me every year tried to really really embody that and so car had it and then when my Tommy got there he wasn't dropping the torch and so it was all about as being the most physical outfit and and make another team give up and really a preview overall with or actually a really look back with Bart. Scott going into steelers ravens week. I'm sure it will be high intensity matchup as always even you know in this new. NFL We're looking forward to that but for Stephen Che Clone. This has been surf and turf. Thank you for being with us. See you next week and.
