"But people. I think people will come to church. Who were not invited by with Your Gospel track. Because you're out there doing it so God will bring other people in because when I was at hope Chapel. We handed out over one million tracks in one year goal and I swear. Nobody came from the tracks but people came okay. I thought maybe it's just because we're obedient and God's bringing them anyway even if nobody came we're still called to preach the Gospel. Bill called to get those tracks into people's hands and to get the word of God out on and something that a lot of people don't think about all the time is just the aspect of here you are. You're at a church. You're a leader a pastor And by bringing your people from the Church to hand out tracts you're teaching them to step out in faith they're teaching them to not be afraid of the world. You're you're teaching them to let their light so shine in the world around them and that. That's a huge thing for a lot of people. Let your light so shine before others. They may see your good works in praise. Your father in heaven and one of those good works is obviously giving the Gospel but I have had to focus more now on the other good works less. Gospel preaching unless evangelism and more focusing on on being a good Christian witness by my deeds. It's been a huge transition so this is actually an interesting change for you coming from St Evangelist You know talking to people And having the attitude of you know relationship evangelism is wrong. It's a bad word. It's hated and and and the the problem. The normal problem with relationship. Evangelism is as an evangelist. If you focus on the relationship that then why often happens? Is you end up carrying so much about the relationship that you don't WanNa offend them. So you don't talk about judgment or hell or anything that's GONNA offend them and the more time goes by you know then you care more about the relationship and you don't that so he ended up not actually sharing the gospel to them. And there's so many Christians who kind of fall into that that cycle that category of of saying well. I'M GONNA BE I'M GONNA be friends unbeliever and through our friendship at some point. I'm going to preach the Gospel to him but what happens often is that point. Never comes you know and that is. How many years do you need to form that relationship before? You've earned the right to show the Gospel in those years. That friend or relative may die. I remember reading John. Speed Small Booklet Evangelism in the New Testament. Yeah and I believe the numbers in the Gospels in the New Testament acts relationship evangelism accounts for less than fifteen percent of all the other evangelism. That was done in practice. Oh okay so. He won't have the exact numbers but he he looked at every evangelistic counter in the new test interest is so small nevertheless I had to make that transition because people in my church or actually leaving our church because of my strong evangelism message so here comes the California street preacher. The Guy who's given out fifteen tracks a day no matter what before lunch often and do it. I get it out of the way that way. You don't have to worry about the rest of the day to get it out of the way. Whatever your goal is that's right here comes the guy who's who's wanting to training people how to do trash talking and yes on the trash can and all of a sudden you're you're shepherding a flock and there's a lot of people there who are just very uncomfortable with this. Yes and they don't like the thought of them looking at you and saying. Oh my goodness this guy's GonNa want me to be out there on the street and doing this and so people start leaving the church and that's exactly what happened and one man told me though. I invited a couple of people to Church and they said Oh. Is that the past who said I'm going to hell. And of course in the way we share a faith with the master. We don't tell people they're going to hell. We ask them so now that you've just admitted you're guilty. Where do you think you'll go having her health admitted but regardless it comes out that way and my elders cautioned me that this method of evangelism would not work here and I told them well? Nothing works here. Works right right but I consistently rejected their council. And yes I was unsubmissive because I go what I shouldn't share the Gospel but ultimately when we almost had a church split because of all of this and the this man laughed in addition to a few others and I was getting no traction and in fact I was developing reputation as a jerk or that loud mouth. Or Whatever. And it's all true when you're an evangelist. Yes but when you're in a in a metropolitan area like la of thirteen million people. You can afford that because it's anonymous it's anonymous but when you're in a small town of get this fifteen hundred people. Wow and the county of thirteen of I'm sorry. Eleven thousand five hundred people. It's very small and God opened my eyes to what they were saying as being correct and I struggled it was October. Twenty second two thousand eighteen. I woke up and after reading my Bible and having my quiet time I was not going to leave until I wrestled with God and got an answer. I go God. You want me to shift to relational events Eliza and I struggled and I wrestle go. How will I know because my elders want me to do this? And they're frustrated. The congregation is frustrated. What do I do so God gave me the incredible wisdom to say to call Ray Comfort Cama Corey comfort and ask him what he thinks so I called him. I gave him the scenario and goes okay now first of all but before you say what he said. W- what in your mind? What are you thinking this is what Ray is going to think? This is what ray things like. What what what are you? Did you have any idea of what you thought he was going to say? You've known for a long time have no race in July thirty first. Two thousand you've heard him say over and over again how relationship evangelists is just a a bad thing. Yes so okay so so you call them in Well I I called Scotty. Okay Scott that is that is raise Open Air Preaching Buddy. But yeah and I called him. He says no keep it up. Keep it up and I'm like. Oh Okay Burn. Burn the city your rightfully. So right I understand that but I go. No God said to talk to re comforts. I called Ray and and a you build. Can I texted him? I go can I talk to you? I need some advice and he texted back. Yes yes. That's my advice. You don't even know what it is he goes. I just find that saying yes works so anyway we talked. I explain the situation to him and he says we are. We are in a parking lot folks. You're in a small town preaching. The Gospel to members in your small town is like preaching tear unsafe family every day. Her own home and wouldn't do that and he told me how in New Zealand. He was in a small town to changes his as methods. And he said that you need to focus on doing good works and building a reputation as as Peter says right so the foolish talk of of Unbelievers would be silenced by your good works and I thought. Oh My oh my. He's he's agreeing what this really race saying. Gosh what are what a wise thing to say. He isn't married to the method. No and evangelism is a means to an end. The end being people getting saved and if that method doesn't get people there and ruins your reputation which can happen no matter where you are. We're promised that right. Blessed are you when you are when you were persecuted for righteousness So I had a dilemma. After that I think ray but then I go who am I. My identity was so wrapped up in being an evangelist. You're the California street preacher who you know yes. Yes and God revealed to me. Oh I'M PASTOR AT COMMUNITY CHURCH. The hills imagine that so this was a big revelation for you because if anyone asked me who is. Steve Sanchez I would say. He's the guy that is fearless that can walk into any elevator with a crowd of people and Preach the Gospel to them. And just you know A lot of people would find as awkward and hard to do. He's the guy who can be as loud as he needs to be. And just you know talk about what whatever uncomfortable thing that Christians don't want to talk about and that that was you you know. Yeah that was me and what I ended up doing was I called meeting of my elders and I apologize to them for being on submitted to their council. Now it's interesting because I believe I was righteously submitted because I needed to preach the Gospel but they were these these godly men were at lived there for thirty years and they knew that. I didn't trust them enough at the time. I'd only been a pastor there now at the time for about Maybe a little under three years but I apologize and then they asked me. Can you give a message? Apologize of the congregation and I did. Wow and I did and how I couch couch the message. Though in the need for evangelism Couched it with you know how persecution happens in this. But there's a there's a time to change our methods and I wanted to change my method because I wanted to reach JC for J. C. J. C Johnson city. Okay and the way I was doing. It was not the way to do it. And I'll tell you when I did that when I stopped evangelizing by the way I still evangelized but I did it. Outside the city and other towns and that's all fine fair game. Okay now just now just to be clear a minute. A little bit ago on the podcast. You basically said that This person the new church laughed because they got upset. Because you were talking people laugh okay because you were talking about Hell so my question is this. Was it that the elders at your church and the people at your church were upset because they don't like the idea of how or was it that they don't like the way you were presenting it And talking about it and it was coming off. In a way that they just saw is You know ungracious. Or or something like that was wasn't talked about Hell because our congregation is a Gospel congregation. They believe in the Gospel and the good news and the bad news. Wasn't the issue with my emphasis on. Hell. It was my emphasis on pushing them to evangelize the way. I did it until everyone they needed to do it that way. Okay the fact that I was doing that and pushing people away so that was the issue they they support me a hundred percent and they are a great and loving congregation but God was using them and using. My elders did change me. So would you say that the issue was more here? You are at a church and you're trying to lead the believers there to do evangelism the way you do it when a lot of them are maybe immature or uncomfortable and they're just kind of not there yet. Not everyone is a street preacher. Not everyone has the wherewithal. And the theological background to be able to let say argue with an atheist in the middle of Austin or or some or refute evolutionist in some varia uncomfortable setting. Is that the issue like you. Having these people do evangelism the way you do it in the way. You thought they should do it. I think the issue was. They wanted me to be their pastor That was the issue and God tried. Well he doesn't try 'cause if he tries anything that he can fail. I I hadn't gotten awakened yet to the fact that I need to shift my whole mindset to what God had called me to do in the hill country so there was. We have people who who invite their atheist. Neighbors OVER FOR FOR DINNER. We have people who interact in st but they just don't do it way. The master and I was so laser. Beam Focus that. That was the only way I have now. Broadened my approach to saying. Hey if you go out there and just say Jesus loves you. I'm okay with that because no one mentions Jesus publicly anymore right. I'm okay with people. Befriending their neighbors down the street and doing it the way God has called you to do it so I am not so dogmatic anymore for me. Way The masters still the way that I evangelize go outside of my town and I meet people also. I do give the Gospel in the context of relationship. If I've been meeting with someone for several weeks or months over time there will come a time where they'll ask me about what I believe and then I'm able to give the Gospel. I gave a memorial service on Monday with somebody who doesn't even go to our church but they had read by articles in our local paper and they asked me to do a memorial service and I gave the full on Gospel. Yeah there so it's not that I'M A. I'M UNASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL OF JESUS. Christ is the power of God into salvation for all who believe and I have just had to change my approach so I really liked that idea of.

"Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of the three x value growth. podcast asked my name is Kerry. Sol's I'm value growth expert as well as the author of the bestseller. Multiply your business value in three steps. I I always start every show with a little bit of Trivia about my home state of New Hampshire. Because there's so many interesting things about New Hampshire that most people have never. I even heard of I find them interesting. So today it's about Daniel Webster. Daniel Webster was a politician and a statesman. He was born in Franklin New Hampshire in seventeen eighty two. He was also known in his day as a mighty or her a reputation. That was preserved in the Stephen Vincent Bennett story the devil and Daniel Webster in which he beats the original lawyer Lucifer in a contract case over a man's soul so he's he will live on in infamy just for that one story I think but welcome again to the three x value growth podcast today. My special guest is Cory Cup for welcome. Welcome Corey. It's great to be here. It really is great to have you here. Where are you calling in from? So I'm in my place in California. I actually split time between the New York. The Metro area and southern California not a bad choice of places to swap between all very fortunate. Very fortunate will alright all right Corey. Thank you again for joining me but for people who don't know anything about you and what you bring to the table. I want to give them a brief introductions to Corey Cup for Corey. Comfort is an expert strategist negotiator and dealmaker with more than thirty years of professional dealmaking and negotiating experience dance as a successful entrepreneur attorney and consultant. He's the author of authentic negotiating and he hosts the fuelling Deals podcast. You can learn a lot more about Corey Cup for anti companies and current projects at Corey. CUPPER DOT COM. Welcome again corey. I'm real excited about this interview on this format. It's could be a lot of fun I think so. I'm glad you agree. So our title for today there are seven questions interview is deal driven growth. And we're going to do that in seven questions in seven minutes. Are you ready ready. Great Question Number One. Who's your ideal client corey? It's privately held companies from startups through logic companies that are looking to accelerate growth black and white very simple so my second question is what problem. Are you trying to solve for these middle market businesses so these companies are either. We're not growing or they're growing not growing at the rate they want to and what they're doing is focusing only on organic growth right more sales more products more services that enter customer service and they should do all that but there's this whole other area of deal driven growth which only a small percentage of companies take advantage of and worship. And you're making the right point that this is something they don't even know about yes they should be doing but they don't even have that as part of their focus. No it's it's interesting. I mean I I have a misconception of who is a dealmaker and what types of companies can do deals and they may think that you need to be a well-funded company or a big company that can do big a and there's a thousand other types of deals that companies from the startup level up can do absolutely so my third question for you is. What are the typical symptoms that you see the owners experiencing or that? They're talking about so that they should pursue something with you so that you know. They're they're frustrated right you know they. They want to either grow whether at that size. Wise with geographic expansion or into different markets of products and service areas and. They're having trouble doing that right and doing it. The only way they know how which is trying to either sell more or market more and I've asked them simple questions like well. Who else is selling into that market? Well what do you WanNa know that. Well because maybe you can cut a deal with them because they're ready distributing to your clients at different product and you get like a simple kind of strategic alliance that so many companies. Please don't take advantage of the smart move and it's low-lying fruit's for everybody no question about it so there's a mindset. Shift that has to happen. There's some skills. Does you need to learn like anything else like you know if you WANNA be a great salesperson to market or provide great service. She needs to go the skill set and a team around the same thing with the Omega. So Oh my fourth question to corey is what the most common mistakes that you see owners making when they tried to solve this problem on their own so a couple of things. The biggest mistake is that they don't do at all right. They only focus on Ganic growth but then when they go into it there mistake is that they don't have a vision and a plan to how they WANNA do it right. They they see an opportunity that comes up there reactive. They don't get clear on even why they're doing it. They don't get clear on exactly what's acceptable to them and not and they don't prepare in a way that would have to have them be successful because listen if you deals right. It's phenomenal if you do a bad deal. It could kill you company absolutely and it is kind of extremes. James absolutely no question so building on that. What would be one valuable free action that you can suggest to? Our audience members that they can implement the will actually increase the value of their business. And I'm talking about in this realm that you work in. Yeah so the first thing I would say is listen get educated so the first shift your mindset to say if you have a conversation saying I'm not a dealmaker of a company can't do deals get rid of that then go out and get educated. I mean with the Internet nowadays. There's so resources is out there to start monitoring what kind of deals other people are doing. And what's available so get educated. I in this plenary resources to do that. And and then building on that. What is one valuable free resource that you can direct people to that will actually help them even further? Well I mean so my podcast. The feels reveals Bot guest is a great opportunity because I interviewed dealmakers of all types. I mean you know you name. The type of whether it's strategic alliances online affiliation deals big mergers and acquisitions nations licensing deals etc an interview the the entrepreneurs and principles and also the key people like investment bankers and others who those deals together so they can get that either through the court. Cover that com site. which is the hub for everything or they go directly to fuelling deals DOT COM or obviously on any of the podcast platforms as well great? Then we'll put that included in the notes from this podcast as well terrific so my last question to you is that with all your years of experience. What would be the most valuable free tip? You think you should be giving to businesses that they need to know about that. Nobody's been telling them so. I think the biggest thing is to say. Hey listen success in business in any area whether it's deals not as in my estimation on mindshift game right like when you're an entrepreneur in a business this is only going to grow as much as you internally can and let it grow right. So young person is totally tied to Your Business Growth. And your view of yourself whether it's as a dealmaker as somebody who can run a big accompanying not is one hundred percents related to how you grow business. So do the personal work that you need to do to grow yourself and that'll grow your business. Okay I'm going to add onto that Oughta be I agree completely. How do you get an owner to start thinking that way so listen? I think it's like anything else. It's a journey if we're talking about personal growth we're not talking about the easy stuff. So the first thing is I would say. Stop looking for the quick fixes okay. There's almost nobody. That's an overnight. Success all those people you comparing yourself to who look like you know when you hit back story. They struggled for ten years. They had to businesses that fail. They had you know whatever they always have a story so the first thing is don't think unique. I remember at an Entrepreneur Organization which I've been a member for over a decade. I was in the New York chapter. We had this night called the night of the living dead and it was a night with all the entrepreneurs share their basically the horror stories. You know in the journey of entrepreneurship and it's amazing. Everybody's been through something so except except that you're not alone just because you having a tough time you've been through a tough time. That's actually what you know as long as you keep going. That's what's GonNa be successful in the long run while that was gold. Thank you so much Cory Cup for joining me here on the three x value growth. podcast thank you very much cory is essentially three with you. The only way they know how which is trying to the cell more or market more and I've asked them simple questions like well. They only focus on Ganic grow but then when they go into it there mistake is that they don't have a vision and a plan to how they WANNA do it right. They dates opportunity. That comes up there reactive. They don't get clear on even why they're doing it. They don't get clear on exactly what's acceptable to them and not and they don't prepare in a way that would have to have them be successful because listen if you deals right. It's phenomenal if you do a bad deal. It could kill you company absolutely and it is that kind of extremes teams absolutely no question so building on that what would be one valuable free action that you can suggest to. The feels Israel's spot guest is a great opportunity because I interviewed dealmakers of all types. I mean you know you name the type of whether it's strategic alliances online affiliation deals big mergers and acquisitions actions licensing deals etc an interview the the entrepreneurs and principles and also the key people like investment bankers and others who those deals together so they can get that either through the court. And your view of yourself whether it's as a dealmaker as somebody who can run a big accompany not is one hundred percents related to how you grow business. So do the personal work that you need to do to grow yourself and that'll grow your business. Okay I'm GONNA add onto that Oughta be I agree completely.
