Logano passes Keselowski on last lap, gives Ford Atlanta win
"Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski battled side by side cleanly for almost 50 laps. We both know we're good at this. I feel like Brad is one of the top 5 best speedway racers on the racetrack, but Logano pulled away on the final lap for the win. I knew we were going to raise the heck out of each other and I think we both understand it. We want to win. You kind of leave the feelings at the door. Towel Reddick finished third and Corey Lajoie gained his best career NASCAR finish in fourth. How Economist Stephen Moore Connected With President Trump
"Did you connect with president Trump or candidate Trump? So Larry kudlow and I and laugh were interviewing all the presidents who were running all the candidates for president back in late 2015. And remember there were a lot of 16. I don't know if we were to remove all of them, but we did most of them. And Trump was one of the last ones we talked to. And how did that discussion go? First, well, what happened is he wanted to meet with Larry and myself privately. And that was Corey Lewandowski. Remember Cory was running the campaign, did a fantastic job. And we went and I didn't like Trump. I didn't I've never met him. I just didn't like him. I just thought he was kind of a blowhard of blah blah blah. And we went in and spent an hour and a half just me, Larry, and Trump. No, other people. Which I thought was interesting. Again, usually these politicians are filled with people. And I remember Larry and I'll never forget this. Larry and I walked out of that room and were like, he's going to be president. Really? That's how blown away we have. But he agreed with you. We had a great conversation. I mean, I love Trump because you can argue with the guy. Yeah. You know? You know, and it was me, and I was just so blown away by this guy. I don't know. Look, I told Trump. I don't agree with you on trade, and you know, bite back and forth, but I love the fact that he was willing to take on the conventional wisdom in Washington. And the whole drain the swamp message. That's why I won. That's right. Totally. Totally.

The True Story of Pharmacists in Poland With Amanda Barratt
"Interesting to me also Amanda, how, you know, a lot of us I've written about a lot of heroic figures and I always get the same kind of question, whether it's in from my book 7 men or 7 women or they make it sound like all of these figures are, you know, they're born saints. And you realize, no, many of them evolve into this. And it sounds like that's the case with the figure about whom you've written in this book within these walls of sorrow that first he's thinking about himself. I've got a business, wait a minute. What do I do to preserve my business? And in the course of that, begins to see, of course, what he could not have seen if he had left what became the ghetto. And it moved his heart. And so I think it's always important to say that because sometimes people actually put figures whether it's Bond hoffer, wilberforce, they put them in some special category and you realize no folks, it's the same category in which you live. It's a human being who has the choice to move in this direction or that direction and every little choice you make will be the story of your life. So it is amazing to me that this story didn't start that way. This is not like the story of Corey ten boom, for example. That is absolutely true. And it wasn't us to do's with him work three women, and they were all in their 20s, so they were non Jews so they were leaving the ghetto at the end of their work day, going back to their homes outside the district living in two worlds while in the ghetto, they were helping the Jews. They were smuggling food into the ghetto, so the Jewish people, because food was very scarce, and they were risking their lives to provide aid.

I think tonight we played very well. It's obviously a matchup that we circle at the beginning of the year with everything that happened last year, and for us now going on the road that was a huge game for us to kind of start and get more into going the right way. Winter storm lingers in southern US, but relief is forecast
"Relief is in the forecast, but the effects of a winter storm are lingering in the Southern United States. Corey DeAngelis on the School Choice Revolution
"Secondary impacts of this. In Arizona, for example, are the best teachers going to move to a model of, I will tutor ten students a week. I will make $70,000 a year and I will provide for my own retirement and benefits. Is that happening? Yeah, look, this is the benefit for students and families, obviously, they get a choice, but it's also a benefit for employees because competition in the labor market is great for employees. It gives their employers an incentive to spend money wisely. And then look, yeah, what you pointed out is absolutely correct that teachers will have more autonomy. They can start their own schools basically, and they're doing it. An organization called prenda micro schools that is expanded like wildfire in Arizona where 5 to ten children get together in a household. It's called a micro school. And you can essentially economize on the process of homeschooling. Families are already using the education savings account dollars to directly fund the teacher or at least more directly do so through the parent and cut out all the administrative bloat and fixed costs that you get with this factory model school system that wastes so much money year after year. And Washington Post actually for being a pretty crappy outlet published. And that's my newspaper. Stop that. I'm a columnist for now. But New Jersey, there was a public school teacher where. They had been in the system for decades. And the teacher left during the pandemic to have a smaller class size, more autonomy, and they were actually making more money at the same time.

The Case for School Choice
"Now, Corey, I think it's been a revolutionary two years for school choice. Can you tell us what has happened? I think it began in Florida and West Virginia. It has spread to other systems, Arizona has gone in whole hog. Can you give us the overview of where we are on school choice? Yeah, it's been a banner couple of years for school choice, and it's all the teachers unions own doing. I mean, they just keep stepping in and over and over again. They pushed and lobbied the CDC to keep the schools closed despite Randy weingarten trying to rewrite history, which, by the way, a couple of months ago, I woke up on a Monday morning, probably around this time or a little earlier. And I thought I was reading it Babylon B headline, but instead it was a tweet from her in Ukraine saying that she was there at the front lines to assess the situation. What the heck was she doing in Ukraine? What was she going to do? Make the war go remote, like she did with our schools. But look, because they fought to keep the schools close, parents got to see what was going on in the classroom. And they started to see that they're sending their kids to institutions where they feel like their kids are being brainwashed for 13 years to hate them. So look, bode bakam said it best. We can not continue sending our children to Caesar for their education and be surprised when they come home as Romans, while the parents are no longer surprised. They've woken up and in 2021, we had the best year for school choice in U.S. history, 19 states expanding programs to fund students as opposed to systems, 2022, Arizona going all in with governor ducey and their one seat majority Republican legislature of empowering every single-family regardless of income to choose the school that works best for them, whether it's public private charter or home based education, and then in 2023, this is shaping up to be another record setting year. We had Iowa governor Reynolds passing a universal school assigning him to law last week at universal school choice program and also governor Cox in Utah just on Saturday signing into another universal school choice initiative. So over time, throughout the past few decades, there have been incremental reforms of slightly expanding school choice to disadvantaged populations and then Arizona being the first one to be the first government school monopoly domino to fall. West Virginia as well in the past couple of years. Now we're seeing these big proposals all across the country in red states. It's looking like a universal school choice revolution has ignited. The Left’s Unfair Destruction of the Fine Film 'Hillbilly Elegy'
"I watched a really solid movie on Netflix that's gotten a lot of buzz. Hillbilly elegy. Glenn Close and Amy Adams at their best their phenomenal. It's based on a bestselling book written by JD Vance back in 2016. And look, it's against the backdrop of Donald Trump's ascendancy. And JD Vance's story of his against the odds rise from being this kid with a terrible mom in the rust belt in poverty, how he got to go to an Ivy League school, it's a beautiful and a poignant look, and it's brutal that how poor folks can rise up and do well. That sounds all well and good, but the left hate this book and they hate this movie and it's so unfair and it's all because of the hate Donald Trump it's getting horrible reviews by critics and it's so disliked. I don't get it. The fact that this guy did what he did coming out of the rust belt and Kentucky in Ohio and. It's not a lot of it is not pleasant to look at, but there's a lot of rich or to mind, you know, the decline of the middle class, the loss of employment opportunity. What it's like struggling to put food on the table, but the reviews I read are so unfair and awful. I'm reading reviews that are usually reserved for like movies with Corey Feldman, not a movie directed by Ron Howard or produced by Brian grazer, it's just unbelievable.

What Is the Point of Certification If It's Forced?
"The point of certification if it's forced? The point of certification is that you have somewhat the entire process, right? We're not only on top of all this. It's not just, by the way, an election, any old election, it's an election where the person sending the email. "Is and forever will be the roper report. 9 items on the rope report. A baker's dozen. It'll be a race to see if we actually get through all of them or when I start shortening them and just deleting things. But number one, ladies and gentlemen, the God of War ragnarok, 2022 release date has been reconfirmed. We started VGC where Chris Scully and writes. God of War ragnarok is still on track to release this year, according to one of the game's lead developers. On Wednesday, Sony Santa Monica tweeted a video of Cory barlog asking fans to remain patient for news of the upcoming God of War sequel. This message received numerous replies from followers concerned that the continued lack of information on the game means it may be delayed until 2023. The video was also tweeted by the game's animation director Bruno Velazquez, who was asked by a follower, Bruno, reassure us that this will come this year 100%. Bruno did as the follower ask categorically replying, ragnarok is coming this year. End quote. Bruno. You want to talk about a world of hurt coming to Bruno's fucking door for PlayStation PR right now in Sony Santa Monica. This is it. That's why we don't talk about him. I get it. Okay. So I'm sorry. In Wednesday's video. Barlog. I just want to say how great I am at this, right? Fucking nailed it because I forgot actually in my notes to leave Chris sculley and VGC, but I was like 90% sure and I went and Googled that I didn't nail it. In Wednesday's video, barlog, who revealed last September that he wasn't returning to direct ragnarok, addressed a lack of updates on the game. Quote, speaking of God of War ragnarok, the elephant in the room. We haven't said a lot about this. That's because everybody is heads down hard at work. We are perfectionists. Everyone's tightening up the graphics on level three. There is so much going on right now. That I just wish we could share it with you. But it's just not ready to be shown. But I guarantee you, the moment I'm sorry, the moment, the very second that we have something that we're ready to share, we're going to share it because we don't want to hold any of this back. So please hold tight. Know that something cool is coming. And that we, everybody here at Sony Santa Monica, is so incredibly thankful for all the support you've given us. Although barlog isn't directing the sequel, although I'm sorry, although barlog isn't directing. The sequels instead being held by fellow series veteran Eric Williams, who joined Sony Santa Monica in 2004 and has worked on every God of War game as a designer, specifically focused on combat. Tim. There's a lot here. But I think at first your heart has to go out to Bruno. Oh, it does, man. Your heart really does go out. On this one. He means well, he believes it. That's good. All of this is good. I mean, let's start here. Let's start before the jokes, the real jokes. But before the jokes, it's like, this is good news. This is good news that somebody that high up working on this game believes that. Right? And that means so much can happen between now and the end of this year where that's not the case. But as of April 20 something, 2022, they think it's coming out this year. I think that is a good takeaway from this. With state of the world with the state of video games, especially at this high quality, I'm a little bit doubtful, but, hey man, crazier things have happened. I don't know. I'm more interested in the Corey bar lock video. First off, gotta love Cory all the time. Second off. Made me laugh. For sure. He deleted his Twitter and all that, you see that? Yeah, yeah, that was a while back, right? But I imagine that has a lot to do with just their heads down. They're working. And we all watched that documentary of the making of God of War. They can games is stressful, making games like God of War is extra stressful. And man, I feel so bad. See you in this video because we got him on that press tour hot off, got a war. Ten over here, ten over here. He's all like, I'm fucking feeling myself. I look fantastic. I am ready to rock ready to roll. I'm strolling into any club I want to. And you see him in this video and it's like, oh, Cory. I feel so sad for you. Like you were being beat down by this job. I just wanted to get a Whit again. You know what I mean? I can't wait to see his next phase of looking at like an Adonis when he comes out with his beautiful hair, takes the hat off, you know what I mean? It's gonna be a good time. That's 2022. Yeah, hopefully it's 2022. Hopefully we were right there. Kevin, if you can run this Twitter video of a Corey back there talking so you know what's going on up Tori. Corey talking at Sony Santa Monica celebrating the four year release of God of War 2018. And that's the thing about this too. Is that the story we've had over and over and over again about God of War ragnarok and is it really coming here for 20 years? Both ways where, okay, I can see it coming this year. Sure. You say it's coming this year, but I can also see very easily being delayed. And again, everything you've talked about. The state of the world, how big of a deal this game is, the state of triple-A video game development, I would still say it's not coming because probably I don't want to get I just want to have my expectations set. I'd rather be super excited when they put a date on it and then they actually hit that date in 2022. But to get away from that conversation, which I think we've had so many times and it's just us. Hypothesizing there it is. And you know, jumping around it's like I hate that when you know that you know the words it's right there. You can have been there every day. I know you're there every day. I feel like I love you, Kevin. It's a conversation we had a million times. Is it happening? Is it not happening? Again, to your point, it's April. April 2022 in Bruno Velazquez, who, of course, is animation director. It's only Santa Monica on God of War ragnarok says ragnarok is coming this year..

He wanted to avoid delaying the story's conclusion to a decade. After it started in an interview with captain kuba on youtube barlow spoke about why he decided. The story of crates trace would be told over just two games rather than a trilogy or anything longer quote. I think one of the most important reasons is the first game took five years the second game. I don't know how long it's gonna take. But i'm just going to throw. I'm just going to throw out that. It's going to take close to the similar. Ason wartime said borrowed quote. Then if you think a third one that seemed timeframe we're talking about a span of close to fifteen years of a single story. And i feel like that's just too stretched out. I feel like we're asking too much to say the actual completion of the story taking that long asking too much to say the actual It just feels too long given where the team was at and where eric was at with what he wanted to do. I was like look. I think we can actually do this in the second story because most of what we were trying to do from the beginning was to tell something about cradles anna traits and That the core of their stories engine is really the relationship between these two characters in quote with one storyline being told throughout two games Bar log likens this idea fans being able to play through the series to his own experience of purchasing the lord of the rings box. Set for the first time i was able to say. Wow i can sit down and have thirteen and a half hours of this experience playing them one after another back to back and i just thought that i thought that was fantastic and amazing so to be able to say. Hey you could probably start got twenty eighteen. Play god of war ragnarok and feel like you're getting the entirety of the story. I kind of want that to happen before my kids in college. Blessing for people. Who didn't make it to reader mail yesterday. What is your take on this story. Yeah so the reader mail A question was more so directed toward. How do you feel about this like is do you mind a to integration god of war norse mythology douala and for me. I'm totally with that. Because i think the idea of iraq iraq wrapping up this instance of god of war. I guess like this of gotta war story being able to move on from there until a new mythology or a new A new branch story. I think it's really awesome. Because like i mean cory makes the point well in this article that feel games take a long time to make and save each these war games take five years make between games. That's what fifteen year trilogy and like fruit for video games. That historically take long to make. I don't think i. I think this is a good move in terms of being able to wrap up something until it story that feels more condensed and fuel in feels like it doesn't have to belabor a mythology belabor. A certain story thread way too long. I hate hate hate that when something hits or is launched people immediately jump to it being a trilogy that it needs to be. This needs to do this. I think it would be so much more fascinating. If we looked at things like god of war twenty sixteen or two thousand eighteen like last of us. I looked at the original last of us. That all right great. This was an awesome story. It's done there could be more obviously characters live on but it doesn't have to end on a cliffhanger. It doesn't have to end on. I can't wait to find out what happens where these people are going. It doesn't have to do with anything. God of war. Twenty eighteen right Minute my new favorite game of all time. Most recent favorite game of all time right. That is a complete story of crato senators and everything. They go on on their journey to resent mountaintop right. And yes at the end. I mean spoiler alert you know. Obviously the whole next is based on it right at the end you can go back you can take a map is greatest and have this vision right of floor showing up to say. Oh man what a cool thing that could be. I never finished that game and immediately interpreted as i this is. I need all of this. I need i mean sixteen more of these. It could have ended there. And i would have been satiated. I would've been like what a cool tease something. I hate it the other way where we get so many times where games go and they end on. We climb up the mountaintop. And there's that thing in the distance and boom credits call my god. What the fuck do you know what i mean. In that instance. I would much rather be court enquiries position with lord of the rings of i okay cool. That's fine when it's life strange. True colors at basaltic even but not where it ends on a cliffhanger. And i'm a great. I need to do that tomorrow. Or i can go and jump in right now and see what's happening these characters like i don't need that idea and i know it's been pointed out so many times people smarter than me on twitter Since the story broke right of what a modern twenty twenty one video game is right and how long it takes to make you call it out. But like i put in the release time line for the mainline god of war from wikipedia. Right you got two thousand five god of war two years later. Two thousand seven got gabor. Two three years later two thousand ten got over three three years later gabor ascension right them. This huge breaks the two thousand eighteen to get you god of war and then yet twenty. Twenty two rock and keep in mind that's tentative. We will see if it's twenty. Twenty god of oregon rocker..

"But then again we don't really know. I do know that this team has done with the boat spiderman games. They've done a stuff that has been totally serious and dark at times like i. I don't think that people give The studio the credit for for that kind of stuff. Because they're people think about the suits and they think about like the one liners and stuff like that but there are. There are very serious and dark moments in those games. I think this is a this team is very capable of expanding on that If some great writers working on this one that have done some really interesting stuff in the past. And so i can't wait. It definitely feels like it's going to be years and years away. We really know what this is and you know before. Were playing it. But i'm just. I'm just really happy. It's a thing that it's getting made. Yeah it's really cool to see Before we wrap up and get to some of the end of show stuff matches 'cause you weren't on last week anything else. That really stood out from you from the playstation showcase that we were really excited by surprise by Wanted to the forty. I got the deal right like everybody had been waiting Unde is again one of those those situations where it didn't show a huge amount of what's new but it's a reminder of why that game is special why that world in particular is so special. A knowing like you already know that game. He's not gonna ship as it's just go to war but we put a new story you know the is Patie- team with kind of like. It's not that they've gotten into proof but they want to put something out into the world. That's real strong so just the knowledge that that is now. They're just being able to see it can help you feel like closer to the eventual. Release day knowing a you're want to be able to find like the secrets that hidden in that world which gave me so good at a. They very much feel like a team that. I'm sure you know playstation really wanted a sequel to happen but it feels like they wanted to make sure they were doing a sequel. They wanted to do and not just because it felt like it had to And speaking of that Between episodes if you didn't see. I spoke to actually corey bar log and eric williams. Who is the new director Forgotten ragnarok and spoke to both of them together sort of about the transfer of power as director. Eric's really really long history with god of war working with korean particular Work that he did on twenty teen and how fundamental he was to corey and the teens vision there. It was a really really like gratifying chat. Because it i very much trust corey. Saying i'm going to transfer power someone else's director beginning to speak to eric and getting to know him who He's a brilliant human. Who isn't on twitter. So he lives his life free of social media but Getting to hear from him serve about his vision his goals his his reasons for wanting to make the sequel really really made me feel like okay is in really great hands and is going to be something special so i definitely go check out those pieces. We have like three or four up on jen. it was really great chat but Yeah before before we wrap up. I do just want to briefly touch on anything else. We've been playing. Brian will start with you. I know you've mentioned weeks passed as well even jumping back into far cry but anything else specifically or just from that series that's really grabbing your attention recently. No not really. I i mean i played through a bunch of our cries. I'm excited for the new one. Very soon And i have been laying. Deathly bobby like we're talking about before but yeah i'm gonna. I'm starting a him. I guess that's how you say that. Yeah i'm really excited for that. It's it looks kind of link's awakening ish. Which is one of my favorite games. it's on it's on. Ps five so you can play their all black and white. It's very charming. Sort of like photography game. It looks very different than anything else. I've been playing this year so I'm i'm very down to give that one a shot. It's it's very cute and very peaceful. And rebecca our viewer rebecca. Valentine gave it. I believe in eight and his only like through for our game. So it's very it's very great as sort of a weekend game to jump into the yeah. It's really sweet and peaceful and charming and joyful way. So i definitely recommend people go go out when it comes out with matt. What about you. Anything other than deputy death of course which i know took up a lot of time at anything else. Even lose this week. I've played through the awful escape in conversion. That's not on on playstation and shame because it size wonderful. I've heard really good things but you haven't gotten to jump into yet. Yeah yeah absolutely july. But the other thing. I've been playing Cycles which is despite the fact is again one of these microsoft kind of games because it was most platform before the mark bio is available on playstation anais. Also a a huge I've been like tim. Schafer games were kind of on boarding to video games. Like monkey island was a very very early game for me. Sorry it's been lovely of my life to kind of just keep dipping back into his kind of catalogue unseen wise. We've psyche notes. Which is the sequel is really kind of beautifully touching game about kind of actually dealing with whereas before it was kind of the novelty of jumping into people's minds i think again has been made in a world. War bet more kind of like understanding of mental health in the way that kind of like effects us all seeing that kind of game. Affiliates unlike creating a protagonist entirely a bio emotion kind of being empathetic to the people's whose minds. He's in is something that's done really well a very character vo game with plenty of really cool. Kind of systems in Make it very very satisfying to play. Yeah i think that game does a real good job of balancing like addressing very serious and important discussions around mental health without being like here is a didactic lesson about why you should care about your mental health or things like that like it blend into that very colorful vibrant enchanting kind of world in a really smart and clever. While you're e- you're totally right on that. It's it's a joy. And i definitely recommend people check it out. there's not a ps five dedicated version but there is ps four. And of course. It's it's backwards compatible. Only other game. I wanted to shutdown also. I've been playing austin random. A little bit which is from zone is the latest epa original. I i'm only maybe a couple of hours in. But i really love the genuity of that team. They did a ghost giant for a few years. Back and lost and random is basically a.

"Yeah go ahead. Do not pay attention to side quests. That seem like they're to grind. Both games do this and you have be able to stop because it will ruin the game. Side quests. that are it's it's like. Hey you're gonna spend way too much time on this. Don't do it. It's not even the good part of the game. You have to put it down if you're a completion. Est you have to stop. If i'm if i can stop as completion est. You can't do don't do it. i all. I know about this game. All at literally. Know about the near franchise is from a tweet from rami. S mail where he is re tweeting video of this captioned belgian man pox in a garage six centimeters wide than his call. And it's this whole story about the studios. Three centimeters either side of his car to poke and rami said this man parking is called feels like competing aside ques- chain in the one other thing i'd say on that. Is i find these extraordinarily interesting for what they bring to. Just gaming in general and i follow a lot of game developers on twitter and whether this game just hit of the park hot game developers pay attention to these games. They all wait for them and they're all playing them and it kind of blows me away like corey bar log. Mike bethel mike drucker. Who's a comedian for Colbert i think is. There's just a lot of people that they play these weird us. You'll guitar games. Because you never know what you're gonna get at somehow. People keep giving him money to keep making them because they made a bunch of money on the last one. Yeah yeah so here's one thing that really drives me fucking crazy It's this this like we don't see it so much nowadays Although the original near didn't come out that long ago so maybe we're not as as Done with that as we thought we were. Nick and i talked about this a little bit when we played monster hunter couple of nights ago but This idea that like the japanese have this perception of what is going to be acceptable in the west. And what is going to sell in the west and some of it makes a lot of sense you know. If you've got like a game that has like really in depth You know depictions or explanations of japanese culture that is very four into western sensibilities. It makes sense to me. Correct those things in the if you are going to you know. Localize a game in the localization process. Correct those things right. Yeah no problem there. I don't have an issue with that There is this this idea especially like the early Years of gaming where like the japanese would put out a game in japan. And then like they'd be like oh these small brain fucking westerners will never be able to grasp this so let's make a completely different game. You know what. I mean.
