"What I love about that too is when you started, obviously, community marketing was a big way you got off the ground. And also influencers. Both of these things now, when you're starting a brand, you're starting everything that's where a lot of people start. It's almost become one O one. Right. How do you think about that space today? Yeah, yeah. So we did not do paid influencer marketing back then. We were not. The concept was, we don't want to pay people to wear a product and share a product. We want to organically just get people that really feel something and are compelled to post it. And our thesis was, I wasn't the cool girl from Pennsylvania, and I bet there's a ton of women like that in these Middle America states, but have megaphones, like in a call to sack, add a pick up line in a club, at a church wherever. Let's find that. And so we would scan content for women that we knew were socially savvy, like, oh, they follow SoulCycle or sweetgreen. And they can create content. Let's reach out to them. They have 200, 300 followers, a thousand followers, but their feeds demonstrate they care about content and they want to share. Because that is marketing at its core, right? Forget social, forget television. Marketing is just humans telling humans something to awesome. And so that's really how we built the brand early on. So today, I feel the same way, right? Paid marketing is definitely part of D2C life, right? But at the end of the day, how do you just get humans to get excited to tell another human? So you build this, you sell it. What does that feel like today? Well, when I built it, I sold it, it felt like my child was three and went to college. It was actually pretty heartbreaking, which sounds really not what people want to hear, right? Because it's a glorious, huge, huge, very fulfilling thing that happened, right? We're so proud and we're so lucky and we're so all here to pay it forward on the experience of building and selling lively. Three years later now, I can see this was the path that was supposed to happen that I never expected, but lively's here to stay. It's owned by a company that has very strong is very profitable and cares about its mission, which is passion purpose and confidence. So really feels like kind of one of your earlier questions was, did you plan for this? No. No, we were not planning to sell lively, wasn't even for sale. But we went with it and it ended up being the best thing that could happen to lively and to the grant family. Okay, we've got a list in our question from Sarah. She wants to know what was the most intimidating thing for you when you were starting your business and how did you overcome it? I would say being a founder, you know, putting yourself out there was really scary for me. I didn't even have a Facebook account when I started lively. I was just not on social media at all. So literally my first full-time hire created my social handle on Instagram at the Michelle green. She's like, you got to get out there. And I also was pregnant with my second child..

"So in the first 45 days, you had over a $100,000 in sales. Is that what you were expecting? No. No. We sold out in two weeks and literally on launch day when we saw the orders coming in. I took off my launch day outfit and ran to New Jersey with our entire team. It just started packing. I feel like people don't always think about that, which is like, you want to have this huge launch day, but you're also at that point, a really small team. And you don't want to disappoint people. So how did you guys work through it? Did you then stop taking orders? Did you hire a bunch of people? We were so naive. I mean, we had this really cute idea that we were going to write a handwritten note to every single customer. And for like 24 hours, we're writing these handwritten notes. Like sweating and just you know, when you have that penciled knot on your finger, when you're doing homework, we had that. Finally, by day two, around 8 p.m., we're like, this isn't going to work. We just need to get to the product to the customers. So we did two things that now looking back, we're really interesting. One, we were just humans about it. So we started emailing the customers and saying like, hey, we sold out. It's not going to be three days before we ship. It's going to be like 30. And they were like, no problem. Your first customers love you no matter what, as long as you're really honest in human. The second thing we did is we were really close contact with our supplier, right? So we're like crank it out. Keep going. Keep going. And we actually took a sample room. So anyone that works in fashion and manufacturing knows you have these big factories. And then you have a sample room. That's where you make your prototypes. We took a sample room and made that a factory..

"Size inclusivity was just kind of always tossed to the side and not really entertained. And then social media and mobile were also not really focused on. I'm like, what are we doing here? We're not evolving with society. And that just really started to irk me. I also saw my leaders and my mentors and the women that I really respected, killing it at work. Like crushing it. But their personal lives were not. And I'm like, holy, I'm gonna choose. I'm gonna choose just like them. So I have to find another way. And so that was really it for me. It was like, well, I can always come back, right? What's the greatest downside? I may have to take three steps back and work my way back up. But not knowing what could be really what's the risk, right? So I quit. And the part that people don't realize is I didn't quit and just start lively. I quit and worked for a startup. You know, I went and just met with everyone I could. I would kind of joke around and say, I cross 14th street and just started meeting with people. And I found my way to Ben Lea at thrillist who had just bought a flash sale company because at that time, Gil and flash sale was it like that was it, right? And so she welcomed me into that atmosphere and said, yeah, we need someone to do merchandising. I was like, great, I need to learn how startups work. I heard about when you met your first investor. And this is fast forwarding, I think, to when you were then thinking about starting lively. And he has to see your business plan, which you didn't have. But you actually made one and learned about it in a matter of days. How did you do it and also side note, Carly and I did the same thing and we bought her dad dinner so that we could tell him the inputs to put an excel. And I still remember to this day that was like the most dad daughter doing our homework in the real world..

"On the road and in life, we'll explain more in a bit, but first, let's get into the episode. Forget social forget television. Marketing is just humans telling humans something to also. And so that's really how we built the brand early on. At the end of the day, how do you just get humans to get excited to tell another human? I'm Carly zakin, and I'm Danielle weisberg. Welcome to 9 to 5 ish with the skin. We've run into so many questions over the years and had so many moments where we needed advice and we got it from women who'd been there. And that's what we're bringing you with this show. Each week we're helping you get what you want out of your career by talking to the smartest leaders we know. Because we know your work life is a lot more than 9 to 5. All right, let's get into it. Today, our guest is Michelle Cordero grant. Michelle started her fashion career working on lounge wear and bras and was previously a senior merchant for Victoria's Secret. But in 2016, she left to launch her own direct to consumer underwear and bra company, lively. And by 2019, lively was acquired for $105 million. Now, lively also makes swimwear, loungewear, and Activewear. Michelle, welcome to the show. Thank you so much for having me. Nice intro too. Thank you. I love the intros. I'm like, I get to brag about this person and then ask them questions. This is great setup. Before we get into the conversation, we like to warm up with a lightning round. So we get to know you a little bit better. Quick questions, quick answers. You ready? Love it. Ready? What was your first job? Read it to tally nice, four 75, all the ice you can eat. I also worked at an Italian ice place. And it was a very fun summer job, but I felt like by the end of it, I definitely had some carpal tunnel going on. 1000%, 1000%. Yes. Do you have any secret hobbies or skills? I would say figuring things out. I'm a puzzle solver. That's good. Do you actually do puzzles as a hobby? No. I don't either. I'm like, secret skills. Oh, I can skim read really well. Okay. That is that is good for this podcast, very on brand. Finish the sentence, what best describes your work day, working 9 till working, 9 till whenever and whatever it takes. What's one word a direct report would use to describe you? An extroverted introvert, it's not one word, but I would say that or casual, very casual. Okay. Are you an inbox zero person? No, I have so many emails. It's really embarrassing. What is your biggest guilty pleasure? Nonsense television. That's very colorful and happy. Gossip Girl, Emily in Paris. I mean, the more colorful and easygoing the better. I also fall into that. What's the last thing you've binge watched? Emily in Paris season two. Same. I just finished. I'm ready for it to come back. Next season. What is the most used app on your phone? Google Analytics, and then I would say text, I try to stay off Instagram. Do you succeed at staying off of Instagram? I do. I probably only go on once a day..

"Which i think that was exciting to see in. Perhaps the vision for this offense is coming to for Obviously when arthur smith brought the outside zone to atlanta we all envisioned cordeiro patterson playing all important commissions and basically gaining the arts. I mean this is how you draw it up obviously but it's You know it was a nice win for atlanta awful uniforms but One i think fun thing to see afterwards that i just noted and i don't know why but matt ryan was like on fire on the sidelines after this game I like saw him like a mouthed. The words that's what. I'm talking about and like doing really hard high fives. I think we're less enjoyable and probably more painful for everybody else. Your quarterback overdoing that who throwing and And so i thought it was good to see him like that invested. Like i feel like matt. Ryan is kind of ben like apathetic in some way after all like you know weirdness and lack of success in poor roster building. It's it's good to see him just back in in in the game a little bit. Yeah i think you're right in that we are starting to see. The vision comes together a little bit. It was a really slow. Start to the year for the falcons. But maybe they're starting to turn the corner as for the jets. Big issue for zach. Wilson was ball placement. His throws just seemed to be off We talked earlier about just in herbert. Having a an ability perhaps beyond his years to put the ball where exactly where it needs to be and conversely that was really whereas akwesasne struggled against the falcons weird thing too. I mean like that was always something like even back to training camp. You watch that and even in the drills where he's not going against anybody you're like sometimes they're see resented turn backwards lot to get these walls or like you know. This girl should be going really quickly and it's not and it was interesting that sometimes he makes those throw seamlessly in everything. Looks really beautiful. But then like there's a lot of times there doesn't and that's been a that's been really like a fascinating thing to kind of throw on the radar for this year now. The routine has been difficult for him. Yes right in. You know i get it that your offense is supposed to create these sweeping booed action plays where he's going to have the time to look down field like he did. At byu and make the great throws accentuate the armed talent. But if you can't get the unscheduled stuff down than the rest of this doesn't make any sense like nothing works. And so i'd like kind of really interested to see where that goes from here. Feel like all those things could also apply to our podcast at this point. Sometimes the routine is difficult for us. Gotta get on schedule stuff down or this is just not going to work. I think it's really well guys. I think that that big will handsome robot. i mean it just added the whole dimension. Michelle was a you know. If i'm sitting there at home. Having listened to that. I feel pretty good about the direction. This podcast is going in. Like the falcons. Things are really coming together and producer. Shelby's are cordeiro paterson. Yes the finest compliment anyone give you paid our guys was he next on the. Qb monday morning nfl. Podcast is jenny. "In you gotta go for some guy waiver wire and so. This was like sunday when they were asking for advice. And so the top guy. Was kenneth in wall so they still lost but that would have been something if kenneth gain what would have been able to push them over the edge. Yeah i mean. I think we talked about Game while as one of our buys in last week's episode in these somebody that the coach coaches just seem very confident. He's coming as a rookie out of memphis and he's been a very present feature in this offense. Every week it seems like mile. Sanders is getting less and less of the snaps on less and less point unfortunately for sanders owners. But you kind of knew that when drafted him that he was a volatile running back but yeah gain while i mean. He had thirty nine percent snaps. He's hovering above thirty five percent of the snaps pretty much every week. And he's doing a lot with those snaps. He only had three rushing attempts. But he had thirty one yards and a touchdown. He's also getting the receptions he had. He had eight targets last week. Eight i mean. That's basically cordeiro patterson level target. So as i have. If i have to choose between starting running back even like a devante. William somebody. who's getting split carries with. Melvin gordon and virtually no passing yards or targets. I'm gonna go with a gain while who's gonna those p. p. r. points if you're in a full pr league game was another guy really like a he's going up against carolina and ezekiel elliott and pollard. Both had great weeks against carolina defense last week. I know they're on the rise. As one of the better defenses bought. I mean with how much the panthers are going to be passed in the ball. Mccaffrey supposed to be coming back. I think this is a pretty good match up. So i could see game while having another good week. I'm actually starting him. In my keeper league that i mentioned before i'm going to be starting him as one of my two running backs gambles have very interesting. God because i think when he played for memphis he was like almost leading. The nation in receptions Him have a big role in the receiving game. But he's also a guy that shows a lot of explosiveness tential in the running game so this is a very hard guy to given. Nfl comparison to if you had to give one dane wall. Who would he sat. Why thank you. We already know Rice stand on that you. You kind of disagreed with me on it. But i'm gonna keep sell game..

"And i would think at some point pits is gonna really sees that number two role and and be better. Be a better option But their offense in the way it's currently structured is going to involve a of stuff around atlanta scrimmage patterson's really pretty good in space and arthur smith doing a good job getting him design plays in space at a relatively low volume. He's a unique animal. You gotta start him for no okay. I agree and and and look. They tried to get pits going. He had a couple of targets early on in the game finished with a career high nine career. It's only been four games. But you know what. I'm saying Patterson just he he got behind washington's defense for the first touchdown of the game and he just he's making plays. He's not playing as much as even did last week. Thirty percents of the snaps were cordeiro. Patterson mike davis was close to seventy percent. Obviously so i'm i think you've got to go with paterson if you'd like you need a flex you need running back that positions thin. Here's somebody that's producing is working in. The red zone with mike davis. He's he's a thing. Quick update here jimmy. Garoppolo anticipates being out a couple of weeks with his calf injury member. That might just be one game because they do have a bye in week six. Okay cordeiro patterson. At this point. I i i understand next week just because sanders has been so bad rest of season would you rather have mile sanders or cordeiro. Patterson it's so ridiculous to even your like your kind of setting up for one of the other. Believe it or not. But i'm going to avoid it. I will say quayle patterson i'll i'll stick with sanders because i'm stubborn. Okay terry maclaurin and kenny holiday. But it's kind of how i feel. Tear maclaurin kennedy golladay. We're winners for you. Heath maclaurin with one hundred twenty three yards and two touchdowns on thirteen targets and golladay one hundred sixteen yards on eight targets at new orleans so big games for them and maclaurin was already a must start golladay only starred in twenty percent of leaks. What do you want to say about these two. Nfc east receivers. I just i. It was nice to see. Can he go at a produce as a giant. It was nice to see him getting some downfield targets and connecting on them. So this gives me more. Hope that he will be a number two wide receiver in non pr and a high end number three wide receiver and full pr arrest. Season for terry is just now two or three games and we need to give taylor heineke.

The three sample size seem to game sample size of daniel jones verses one disappointing game because again he still runs. He did running game But losing the two receivers you know. I think he took a hold approach. He's not you're starting up. You need to make a move clearly. That's the guy you can. You can drop An beasley same thing. I want to see what happens in In this gaming mar matchup. For either guy. I would i would hold both of them. Bridgewater right they said beasley. Yes trying to figure out the a bills fan today. What is going on everything. Alright dave running back. Excuse me other than other than other than old mother hubbard tuesday. I called mother hubbard by late. Go ahead we'll check to make sure. Zach moss cordeiro patterson. The hines aren't out there in your leagues. They're still available and at least twenty five percent of cbs leagues. If they're there. Go ahead and grab them. I would still rather I don't know about rest of season. Moss versus hubbard. I might take moss over hubbard knowing that moscow has a chance to help you of the year whereas uttered could end up getting replaced after those guys. It's just it's ugly. I mean call us check. Maybe assuming that elisha. Mitchell doesn't come back. That would be kind of pathetic if he was second on the list. Royce freeman is out there ninety nine percent of leagues. Don't love him. I'm waiting for the patriots to give. Jj taylor an opportunity. I don't know why they in doing week. Three they gave brand bowling all the work in the passing game. I'm not ready to say to go. Get brent bolden off. The waiver wire Special teams guy who just had to be thrust into action and I don't know. Joe the one other running back that's available in a lotta leagues. If you've got the bench based to get him and them is jeff wilson and we've been saying it every week eventually he's going to come back and eventually they'll the chance to claim a role in this forty niners run game. He's available in. Ab eight percent leaks Okay and for the patriots running back some are obviously throwing to. They're running backs a lot. Bolden had three catches after the white injury. You just don't know who's going to play that role because it would be fairly valuable on fantasy. i think i would hope a harris. I mean you know. That's the best case scenarios any takes takes on the That work in james whitehead thirteen targets in the first two games with twelve catches Jj taylor is the one that would profile the most unless it's bold because the bolden history with team but taylor twenty nine.

"Bitcoin is illegal now. Chinese government to my knowledge. They haven't actually come out with what the punishment is for being caught doing it. Illegal crypto transaction. So i'm sure they are going to have to announce what it is. I mean what is the fine. Can you go to jail. And obviously the harsher the penalty. The more likely it is that people will obey the law right. if there's no penalty will then no one's going to be the law right. There's got to be a penalty but given the fact that this is a communist country. Right they can make the penalty whatever they want if the chinese government really wants to outlaw bitcoin. I think it's going to be a very harsh penalty. I mean there could be a lot of jail time if you get caught with bitcoin. I'm not sure what the chinese jails are like. But i'm sure they're all not that great. I don't think people want to spend a lot of time in a chinese prison and so it's probably not worth it if they make it illegal. I mean sometimes like if it's illegal to own a gun but the gun might save your life. They're going to be people that are gonna say screw it. I'm going to own a gun anyway. Even if it's illegal because if i needed to save my life it's worth the risk but you don't need bitcoin for anything. I don't think people are going to be willing to break the law now criminals. If you're already engaged in criminal activity let's say you're a drug smuggler. Your terrorists are doing something that's illegal all right screw it. I'm going to have bitcoin. Maybe it helps me with crimes or maybe not bitcoin. Maybe cordeiro or some other crypto. Because you're already a criminal. I mean on the gun control. There are a lot of people who would to have guns. But they don't buy them even though they liked them because they don't wanna break the law. There are some people who are willing to break the law because they feel that strongly but a lot of americans who might otherwise by guns. Don't buy them because they are law abiding citizens and they're like well. I'd like to have a gun but you know it's not legal so i'm mocking to buy one. But there is one group of people who couldn't care less about the gun laws and those are the criminals. What a criminal care. He's already breaking the law. He's already risking go to jail. Right you're committing robbery. You're committing all sorts of crimes. You don't give it down about the law would difference through the gun laws make. That is the problem when you have gun control. It's the criminals that have all guns because the law abiding people don't have the guns and the criminals know that they're victims are defenceless because the victims are the ones that obey the laws and the criminals couldn't care less because they're already committing crimes and they're already assuming the risk of going to prison. So what difference does the additional risk of having a gun but if you're not violating any law because you don't want to go to prison at all then you're not gonna take a chance of gun and the same thing is going to happen with cryptos all of the law abiding honest citizens. That really don't need cryptocurrency. They're not going to risk going to jail to have but if they're already committing crimes and they're already risking jail than what differences having a crypto..

"Football put up a little bit make a lot. All new users have the opportunity to opt into that particular promotion alright pain. It's a time in the show where we run the two minute offense and we figure out where we have the most investable opportunity in the college football landscape. We're our travels taking us this weekend. The market is definitely tightened. And you can just tell by the overall action early. In the week it's been it's been quiet to this point. You know from sunday night. Now as we record wednesday morning. Let's go the total. Let's go to three five seven over in hawaii and new mexico state wet a little bit of a depressed total last week in the wha game we've had a transition with their offense going to a new coordinator. I think it's taken some time to get things acclimated. I think both of those situations have have created a depressed total here. We haven't gotten the best of the number but let's go over sixty one and a half here todd now just as a caveat. Sixty two is a college football. Total number with relevance were looking at games fall about two point four percent on the sixty two so getting out ahead of that is is vital here. But you know these teams better than i do if you'd like to expound on it yeah i think when you look at this hawaii team you mentioned it the seventeen thirteen score last weekend in the nightcap against san jose state a bit of an outlier bowl teams dealt with some weather shelvin. Cordeiro wasn't exactly the most accurate and isn't the most accurate passer. They wanna try and lean on the ground game and you talk about an increased level of familiarity between conference foes but you look at hawaii when. They've stepped down in class against defenses. This season a forty nine thirty five game against portland state back on saturday. September fourth where cordeiro was able to get things going in terms of throwing the football and using his legs and income comeback mode against oregon state. We saw that game. Go flying over the total and beavers had plenty of success themselves. Moving the ball. I think this is the kind of game before you get into the nuts and bolts of your conference schedule where you have to work out all the kinks and i don't see. Hawaii is a seventeen point favorite really taking their foot off the gas if they have an opportunity in las cruces to get things going. Meanwhile new mexico state growing optimism that they could get their starting quarterback. Joe johnson back. Not a huge dropoff if he doesn't go and when you look at new mexico state last week and they put up a crooked number in their own right against south carolina state but more importantly in a game against an stay rival with a much more defensive posture than anything else against new mexico..

But that's i don't think it'd be the case unless anderson has been significantly. Mistime the thing you've got to look at is how much are they can. Maybe share 'cause through a week and a half. It was all daryl henderson for the most part in terms of workload. So you know it's like you said if you're in the darrell henderson camp. You wanna see tony. Michelle obama said until vida one hundred times and struggle and then henderson gets healthy and he's back as the lead guy but michelle four point six yards per carry last week You know we'll see if the fluky involvement in preseason game for the patriots is something that the rams used because we saw henderson get an uptick passing production this week against the colts. So i think michelle is is obviously worth adding were available. Because we don't know how long henderson might be out if he's going to miss time at all but he clearly is a number two guy there you know. I don't know what they're gonna do jake funk as the third guy but very clearly right now. They're leaning on one running back and that could be michelle could've been camakers the guys to add jd. Mckissick cordeiro patterson alexander madison. You're sitting there looking at patterson and madison does. He don't need to start a running back. Who do you. who do you pick up. I think it probably depends on your backfield situation because there is clearly a chance that patterson is going to help you sooner but lottery. Ticket appeals clearly madison. Because davis goes down. I don't think they're turning to wing it at this point in saying that. They're turning to patterson hard time loving a thirty year old perceiver. Yeah it's nuts. madison kenny. Gain well is fifty. Nine percent avail is rostered. Sorry daryl williams had a rushing touchdown. he might get some of those this year. The other thing that thing. I the reason i put him. There is because if they continue to get frustrated or they start to get frustrated with edwards. Hillary i don't think they've gotten frustrated at least publicly yet You had a bad game on top of a fumble. So do they start to go. Maybe a little bit more in the direction of the guy who helped him in to key playoff games last year and that was williams when Dealer was hurt in lebanon bell. Stunk you know. The williams carry them in the two games against the browns and the bills. You know so. We'll see if that's maybe something. You just wanna take a a stash opportunity on if you have no barasch would you stash mackinnon in a dp. Pr league they just haven't used them to the same degree but maybe earning i mean. My guess says it's going to be a committee. You know but i think more of the more of the rushing opportunities and certainly more than going opportunities. We'll go to williams because they've shown you that already whenever sure i get that other running back by the way other running to consider just the same vein as as madison but with less upside..

"He's just running left to right but he doesn't have an line. This is saquon barkley. we're talking about. I got to watch him for years. At penn state. I know he's coming off the injury. I know the giants but forty six yards and a half yards for a guy like that is you could say it's a trap line but i'm falling right into that trap because anytime you give me that type of lime for that type of player it honestly reminds me of devante smith three and a half or centre. Is i get it in washington at front and the defense so they ranked thirty second last week with average depth of when they're running back with such it was minus point three yards sake. Actually two hundred yards left to right last week and without going. Past the line of scrimmage. It's like if he just runs straight right. Wing is this line is fun because like one one good blocking sequence and you cashed like it's over and they were out of the entire game last week. They weren't running. I anticipate this to be as ugly as we picture it. So i like that line. You're talking like seventy nine. Lashing tim gets is fifteen carries and he can get. Let me just make. That might let me. Just make that my score prediction now. Seventeen to nine. My first pick logan thomas under forty nine and a half receiving yards. Abe does not like this pick which is okay so it's a great great for this. I think logan could eat on thursday night football but he like. I don't know if you watch. He's like erz. there's no yak. And every target is like six yards down the field so he could get six catches and still only have forty yards. And so i liked that. He's not a big yardage guys. Four touchdown reliant when it comes a fantasy so logan thomas under fifty yards essentially the reason. I don't like that and it's kind of the same reason. Why do like my next pick is because for a backup quarterback. We're calling taylor. Heineke a backup. Even though he played if feels to me like the the running back dump off the tight end are always the the security blankets. And but if you're right doesn't break any tackles and their six-yard routes but for that reason exactly i have. Jd mckissick overflow. Tina half receiving yards. Tell heineke dumping it off. That's just one broken tackle. I think it could be done in one play by itself. He was a huge monster at the end of last year. They now they're kind of focusing on gibson. But listen taylor hynick he's gonna wanna dump that ball off and check down and jd. Mckissick will be there. And i'm not just saying that because unfortunately i have lost gus edwards and where he most to my fantasy league and now have to start jay moths. So yes i'm looking at some stats like i have to start. Jd mckissick or cordeiro patterson as my running back tough but you know it is the final pick. I'm going sterling. Shepard under sixty five and a half yards. I like shop. I think he's a good player. They also have kennedy. Golladay and ship went off last week and then jones has been there long enough for me to think. This isn't like his new favourite guy. This was they were trailing by a lot and throwing a ton and shepherd was the guy on that day so i think this is taking advantage of an inflated line if you set this line before the season started. There's no way be at sixty five and a half. So i like chef under sixty five point six thirty three on the people's picco me win three hundred and thirty dollars one more time. Did you say sixty five points in the chat. I've type six by accident but it sixty five point. Five official official underdog. Anyway pick them use kodjak saquon over forty six and a half over forty eight rushing yards. Jd mckissick over receiving yards. Logan thomas under forty nine and a half receiving and shep under sixty five point five receiving yards. I know i know we have to go four for four. But i'll guarantee if anyone wants to get my deandre before the game kicks off tomorrow. I'll guarantee this goes at least three and it's tough. It's tough to see it. Not that's just what we do so All right we'll take a quick break. After the break more week to preview we're going to highlight some of the biggest games. And then we're going to pick are upset of week numeral dose and the eagleton. We'll be right back. Football season is finally here and where replying all season long. It's on underdog fantasy underdog. Fantasy has picked them and rivals. They are the most fun way to get some action down on the games. Follow me follow. Underdog fantasy on all social platforms to follow along for my place. Do pick. them's do rivals and make some money along the way and for now use ago jack and get a deposit bonus when you joined the team. Let's go football. Season is finally here. And if you're trying to get out to a game whether it be college football. Nfl or went basketball. Comes back around us. The kodjak at tick tick is the absolute best way to get your tickets for the big game. They do concerts to they do pretty much every event you want and the best part is they don't have fees the price you see. Is the price you pay. Don't believe me. Go to pick dot com.

Yep oh by the way. The new zealand weightlifter. The trans wait weightlifter. The first one ever in the olympic games proud moment for new zealand. Laurel laurel hubbard. Issues is her name beautiful looking at you just absolutely love. I saw i absolutely beautiful She crashed out of the olympics after making history as the first trans woman to compete in a solo event. What does that mean she crashed out. Okay so i guess she lifted the weights there And then and then in the back of her head okay. That's crashing out. I guess so. she's done. She's not going to get a medal. Yeah that's what happened. Well too bad right. well shoot. People thought she was going to pick up a medal to she was a medal contender. Yeah believe going to go back to part time gig. Being a swimsuit model not going to be an olympic champion is certainly appropriate Based on what we just saw. Lay that lovely so very very lovely You know what's interesting to in cuba. Have you followed. What's going on there. Late other cuban military leader was killed late last week. That's the sixth in ten days. What yeah six. Military leaders of them generals so statewide television state. Run television Wednesday last week announced the the death of rebel. Army combatant gilbert. Oh antonio cordeiro sanchez His body was cremated and his ashes were placed at the veteran's pantheon where they will remain until the transferred somewhere else The announcement did not specify card. Eros cordeiro sanchez's rank and neither did give the cause of death. But i love how they've been spitting this the whole time Like yet another Military officials suddenly died. We're absolutely baffled at what's going on The cause of death appears to be lead poisoning on this poor guy. Apparently he was highly allergic to hot lead penetrating his skull. Who knew we didn't realize that al. you know. Doctors quickly administered benadryl. But it was too late. Apparently now did not help their back. So this guy did not take the vaccine recently. No that's not you're saying you're saying that it sounds like if i'm not mistaken. Yeah maybe i'm just reading between the lines here is that it sounds like citizens are taking their country back after seventy years. I'm sixty years. Can't i don't know where you're getting that. It just feels that way. But admittedly as i said at the onset. I have not been following closely. What's going on. Well let me tell you about some of these some of the other six. Okay tell me Tragic deaths of military leaders over the past day of the other generals who died one slipped in the tub after having been hitting the head with a sledge hammer was weird yeah so the nother tub accident. We talked about we. Bathtubs are very dangerous. Another died from heat stroke after he was doused with gasoline and set on fire and still another hemorrhaged internally after having to ton and ville mysteriously fallen chess club. Stuff going on with the military. I i would go figure. Just not safe out there. No no no where your mask as. I see where you're mass. Cnn reporters are now back to wearing all their live shots. Yes they are Let me virtue signal here from tokyo. Okay wow it's good stuff That's great now. The an olympic sprinter is seeking refuge in tokyo fearing arrest at home. All for what which we knew it. I guess i'll do some googling. Yeah look look instead of looking up what's going on with the husker camp as you. I me- belarus belarus. so yeah Yeah what's her deal here. I'm she says she's afraid. She might be jailed in belarus. I'm not afraid of being fired or kicked out of the national team concerned about my safety. And i think that at the moment it's not safe for me to be am belarus. Is it because she refuses to wear a mask in public but that's what it is. She hasn't been vaccinated and won't wear a mask. Those days are coming. Those days are absolutely coming. No doubt about it Some liberal apparently didn't like the comparison fox made over the last late last week over some of the deaths cova deaths in washington dc. They dared point this out. There were four cova deaths last week in washington. Dc but there were eleven deaths from homicides. I mean there's a facts right. Is there fox. That's just two weeks worth of facts. Right there yeah. Four cova deaths eleven homicides. That's all they're doing in the graphics department of fox news for pointing that out yup seriously and to show how crazy this getting for For employees and and the need to be vaccinated. Keep your job there. Some nurses that are protesting losing their jobs. from hill heroes to jobless. Here's one of the signs that Now this is making the rounds. Yeah this is. This is really making around social media. Basically say look look what's happened to our society. In the course of twelve months one of the one of the sciences we worked through the pandemic with no vaccine. Now they want fire us. And that's wrong very but then the other side is more wrong. Sadly because last year's heroes spelled improperly incorrectly issues unemployed right so you need apostrophes on on the years. Yeah and you know. E on heroes h. e. r. e. s. If three of the six words on your sign are wrong that it's going to be less effective for people like me. It's hard to take seriously like i. Totally sympathize with. What's going on there. That's generous to invite them coming in on a day when jeff here was generous because he'll get anything but at crumb after he's done with it i want that's the only noise you hear it and then you realize okay so nc what. I what i was thinking was a little less generous. I was just trying to avoid him coming in here on a monday tuesday or thursday because if he finds out there free food just bring him in a wednesday right. Oh and speaking of Lemon year lemonade. "Again you can look at this two ways in the heat of the moment and then you look at it retrospectively. Which in writing the book it helps helps you to look at retrospectively in the heat of the moment You know again we have to remember. Kovin was awhile west. this time. Nobody knew what to do how it worked by. It was some times affecting somebody so hard like nick and then not affecting anyone at all And so a lot of times they would say to me. You know we're out of ideas or it's it's his all medically that we can do right now or You know we can't really ford any risks. But then at the same time they would say we're running out of time So it was this constant. Icu dance and battle. which now i know. He's just you know. A part of being an icu. That long especially So you know. I would come to the idea. I would come to the table with a lot of ideas every day. And you know they would be crazy. Sometimes like people would say put olive oil and rosemary and his feeding tube. I trust me at works. You know and there were lots of times. Where i was just like okay. I have nothing to lose here. So i'm going to shout out all of these ideas and yeah a lot of times. They would look at me. Like i was crazy which i'm sure i was at some points. You know i'm. I'm getting my information from google searches and people from around the world and they are medically trained doctors. That know exactly what they're talking about. So it was that balance and you know i was the other thing was it was just hard. You know when you are. I i do consider myself a strong person. I'm a fighter. Especially when i'm going through trauma i go kind of in fighter pilot mode and it was really hard to be looked at like you know a sad puppy. It's it's it's something that happens with grief to you know people come up to you giving the giving you their best actor in a drama series for grief you know performance and you're like i'm not weeping right now i will weep. I promise you. I have weeped but right now. You see me in your dancing. You see me in here. Moving knicks arms. You see me in your choosing positively choosing strength choosing life. Don't treat me like. I'm the exact opposite so that was also just kind of like the hard battle severe. The issue is primarily. Just you didn't want people to feel pity for you because you are too strong. I think in general. I'm just a person that doesn't i don't want to feel. I don't want you to feel pity for me I think that's my probably general. My life know the difference between compassion and pity I think it's a tone a tone in someone's voice for me at least or yeah it would be a tone is a tone of voice and did you feel like the the hospital staff that that you're writing about. Was it compassion. You're interpreting his pity or was it. Actually pity i don't know i mean maybe it was a bit of both or you know it's hard to say because now i'm kind of commenting on someone's personality which is tough. I probably needed to speak up for myself and say listen. You know please you win. You come at me with that tone. It makes me feel like you're pitying me and cleese. Don't pity me right now. i need you to be. I need you to do this instead if we're gonna work together here and that's that's on me. I should have said that. You know that's retrospectively looking back. In the heat of the moment you can't even focus you know my god. That's the kind of really precious advice. They are chang right now right because there are other people who go through longer hospital experiences and just hearing you say that i promise you that you just did some good just by sharing that low. Thank you learn a lot. After the after the fact in course writing this story down reading the story allowed you learn even more. Live your life at your bug it. It's a it's a quick read. But i think you did a great job of just explaining. Here's what happened because there's a lot of people really curious and also what you went through. And i was intrigued. You talk about new forty days being very famous biblical number. That shows all over the place. tell me a little bit more about your interpretation of that forty days well they are just so many biblical interpretations throughout this whole story. I mean the story of the good shepherd and nickname meaning cordeiro cordeiro meaning lamb and the hoster. That called me about it. I mean like. I mean just over and over again and how nick i died on good friday. I mean that was crazy And then brought back to life by all these machines. You know having a resurrection on easter sunday. I mean like just crazy things So yeah i mean those first forty days and then he woke up you know after forty days just like it was really crazy over and over and over again but also that also just kind of Fueled my fire. That god was with us through this. God was behind us through this that he heard us that he was with nick through this. And and so that kind of.

"We did have a A trade godown wasn't a blockbuster. But i think certainly noteworthy is that. The red sox have been shopping. Andrew benintendi for quite a while. Now and i didn't understand why this guy was a top ten pick by the red sox not that long ago but here are the details in this three way trade between boston. The mets and kansas city. The red sox receive outfielder slash d. H. franci cordeiro Right handed pitcher josh win. Chaussee three players to be named later one from the mets to from the royals. The royals get outfielder. Andrew benintendi and the mets received outfielder khalil. ali now benintendi. As soon as he showed up last year he got hurt and he was offered a year. He only played like two weeks and batted one. Oh three he had a strained ribcage but coming into last season he was a career. Two seventy seven hitter and averages about eighteen home runs a game and he's due to make six point six million this year in his second. Rv'er so he has Another year. Sorry i know he has another two years after that. So i argue but the royals will now put benintendi in left field every day because if you think about with mary field i guess he's an outfielder our second baseman so a combination of him. Inside the US Soccer Equal Pay Fight

"Foudy is a soccer commentator for ESPN and was a member of the US women's national team from nineteen eighty seven to two thousand four. She also hosts a podcast laughter permitted so Julie. It's been a chaotic few days. I use the word chaotic relatively now for American soccer late last week the president of the US Soccer Federation. Carlos Cordeiro resigned. What was the chain of events that brought that about? We need a couple of days and a lot of wind for that. Actually I think we have that actually right now we do. It all started obviously with the lawsuit that the women filed last March for gender discrimination and then there was a brief that really triggered this avalanche. That was released last week. There central argument was women are inherently inferior to men to this from the US defense quote. The job of a men's national team player requires a higher level of skill based on speed and strength and does the job of a women's national team player. He response was immediate federation saying that Biological Sciences. The reason why men should make more money than the women. You've got to be kidding. Me Arrogance and ignorance here is outstanding. It's mind blowing. This woman are the best at what they do in the world in the world. How how can they be compensated? What then transpired was we were in the middle of our coverage of the she believes up which is an annual tournament that the women play and it was their last game of the tournament and my play by play. Guy Actually looks at me Sebastian. Salazar points to his phone and puts his finger up like hold on. I need to read. Something just been handed a statement from USF President Carlos Cordeiro and he proceeds to read this apology on air from Carlos. Cordeiro apologize for the offensive pain caused by language in this week's court filing which did not reflect the values of our federation or a tremendous admiration of our women's national team women's National Cordeiro saying I hadn't properly read the brief. I apologize for what's in there. We're firing our legal team and hiring late them and walk INS. I literally had to take about a five second pause and gather myself because my head was about to implode these players are getting deposed all the time they're being asked questions like you lose the fifteen year olds though right so you're inferior rights so you know this is happening. You have to know that the players are feeling it is well known was buying it and to give us the statement on air. I thought was a terrible idea for me to react to it. I don't get how you ever get to this position where you're okay with letting your legal team run all these depositions in that manner and making that that central tentpole of your arguments and the very next day. Carlos Cordeiro resigned as President Julia. Why do you think the backlash resulted so quickly in Cordero's resignation? I think the sponsors helped I think. They saw the reaction from some of their biggest partners. Coca Deloitte Volkswagen. The statements they put out. Were words like we're disgusted by this. We would never associate with an organization that thinks this way yet. We stand by the Women. If you're US soccer they feel like they're on the brink of something in in a very negative way and so they knew they had to do something quickly. Obviously this moment puts the players in a bit of a weird spot. Where in the midst of all this? They're playing event wearing the shield for us soccer's actively trying to undercut their standing as highly skilled athletes. How did they react honestly? Who was so proud of how they handled it. We've been given a heads up that they were gonNA wear their jerseys inside out. The warmup jerseys wrestler wearing their warm up uniforms inside out. They kept their warm up jerseys on and they had the team stand in solidarity. They knew they had to play but they also wanted to be clear. Like this is not okay. We don't stand for what their argument they're making. They always have the. Us Women's national team proved their worth on the field. Three to one over Japan. They are she believes cup. Testimony released from Trump's former Russia adviser

"News just released transcripts from the house impeachment inquiry revealing even more officials testifying under oath that they had a great great concerns about president. Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani's work in Ukraine Fiona Hell of former Russia advisor to president trump. Testifying quote I was extremely family concerned. That whatever was that Mr Giuliani was doing might not be legal. Especially after you know people had raised with me these two gentlemen Parnis and and Fruman Ella E. Fruman of course to Giuliani associates. Who are arrested recently while trying to flee the United States and Lieutenant Colonel Alexander van the top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council saying this about the July phone call or president? Trump urged Ukraine's president to help Giuliani. Dig Up dirt on the bites. Let's frankly up until that call you know. In certain regards. He was acting as a private citizen advancing his own interest to a certain extent. It wasn't until that call all that it became that that it became that he was pulled into kind of an official role all right. Let's discuss all of this out front. Now Greg Brower who was an assistant the FBI director Kerry Cordeiro who was the council to the US Assistant Attorney General for national security also with US tonight former Nixon White House counsel John Dean and former Republican congressman. Charlie Dent it has been a very busy news day going through these transcripts from two top White House officials. Carry to start with you witnessed ernest after witnesses testify and they had these concerns about. Giuliani what do you make of this of all. These officials testified that they knew what Giuliani was up to. They had these concerns. They did because we had there was an individual Rudy Giuliani who was not in government. who was doing things that from their perspective? At the as as far as State Department officials are White House officials working on national security related to Ukraine that he was stepping into interfering with what they were trying to carry out as legitimate foreign policy so on one hand you have a person not in government at all who is interfering in national security interests but then the second thing that but it also tells me is that there were a lot of people in the White House who knew what was going on. And it took the whistle blower to actually report it through an official channel Hannele and start that we part of this. I mean you have about it. He'll testifying a lot of people. Knew about what was going on. But you're right. It was the whistle blower who went through those channels. But what's interesting too is just the view of these officials Juliani. You know they're trying to do their official Government Work Greg. Then you have someone going rogue Outsides doing their own thing. I mean it kind of painted this picture of pure chaos when it came to Ukraine Policy Fiona Hill testified that John Bolton Liken Giuliani to a hand grenade alive handgrenade Do you think that's proven to be true. In all of this as you learn more and more Giuliani's role becomes more apparent and and not surprisingly so and and there was also the description of John Bolton oath you know Rudy's drug deal as if to dismiss this. Yeah exactly we have more understand the context around Right that's right and it would be hard enough frankly to have the national security and diplomatic Bureaucracy dealing with some kind of rogue operation if that rogue operation was parallel but legal. But in this case it appears that perhaps it wasn't even a legal rogue operation that not only complicates it's things for the govern- officials who are supposed to be pursuing national security and diplomatic relations but it it creates a whole Potentially impeachable the situation. And that's how it's playing out. It is how it's playing out John because this is all part of this. The Democrats impeachment inquiry. I WANNA bring up. What lieutenant colonel them and testified to who about acting chief of staff and they won't be head Mick? Mulvaney Vin was asked. Do you understand how he saw. Inland came to believe that this deliverable was necessary. This area and then men responded so I heard him say that this had been coordinated with White House Chief of Staff Mr Mick Mulvaney question. What did he say about that answer? He just Said said that he had had a conversation with Mr Mulvaney. And this is what was required in order to get a meeting. How significant is it to you that he testified that the president's acting chief of staff directed this quid pro quo essentially certainly gets closer to the president and and You know whether whether they'll claim that the president had no lodge we don't know yet Feel a hill gave the same testimony. Which cooperates spend Edmund? So it's a pretty strong charge and it certainly puts Mulvaney in the loop No question about that and Pamela. I'd I would just point out at this whole thing is just one giant conspiracy to extort a bribe. And it's very conspicuous. It's just no question and now how deep the president is. That's what the House is going to establish and so do you think this is an impeachable offense then because as we know bribery. According to the constitution is impeachable impeachable. Act John They have managed in this in this instance to come right within the definition of impeachable offenses. Because you the high crimes but how. But if if no one has made that directly to the president then then how do you make that case that he should be impeached impeached. Well you know it's interesting with Nixon When he was impeached they stayed away from conspiracy? Charges There is a reference in in in the minority report of all places that he conspired but the majority the Democrats with Nixon did not charge him with a conspiracy. All of that was very conspicuous. Louis in the in the evidence I so I don't think by precedent. They'll try to draw trump in through conspiratorial actions. They'll look for him being directly involved or enough. They'll look for testimony and we're they're gonNA find that is in the Document the the readout on

This kickstarter company makes military-grade swag for your pet

"You and the whole team at American Dogar some of my favorite people in the pet industry. So it's a thrill for me to have on heavy on tonight. Oh, well, thank you. It's likewise. I'm sure that everyone would agree with me on my team that you are we just love working with you. Thank you for that. So tell us all what is the backstory out an American dogs. Start was kind of the trigger point for deciding to come into the pet industry. And what was the origin story of American dog? Sure. So our background is is in and manufacturing. And we have a lot of experience with really high end products attacked, co-products, and fashion products, fitness products. And we also had a couple of other lines in the pet industry over the years. And so we have an opportunity to design a manufacturer line of private label made in USA toys for a large retailer. And course, we were delighted it was really exciting. And so, you know, kind of jumped on it and after months of designing and prototyping and literally we had we had prototype lake. All of our factory the deal fell through and that was kind of a result of just margin constraints and some other some other situations. And so we couldn't go forward with it. And it was really hard on us. We didn't realize how emotionally attached we had gotten to the to the project. So we sat around and kinda lick our wounds for months. And after a few months of just kinda, you know, kicking it around. We decided that we really felt like we were on to something. We felt like we had a really great concept. It was right in our name because we all the products we were designing work in two thousand ten year Cordeiro that were really used to working with owner tactical side. So we know it's really tough. And so we decided you know, what we're gonna we're gonna forge ahead with this. We're gonna continue to design some some really cool, interactive toys, and we're going to move ahead and launch our own brand. So we debated over a lot of names and couldn't believe their American dog was available and matched it up and decided to launch on Kickstarter and the rest is history. Cool. Hey before we jump into the Kickstarter. If you mentioned a couple of things I want to make sure have clarity for the audience private-label when you say private label. Can you just define what that means? So when we work with other companies who want to have their own product line, and they wanna have their name on it. We will work with folks like that. We do that as you know with you guys, but we're really passionate about, you know, co branding more than just private labeling. So usually, we'll we'll have it be powered by American dog on a strike or side of our business that is one hundred percent private labeling. So we would strike or does is we basically designed manufacturer for other American brands as a people that wanna make their stuff here in the US perfect, and you mentioned tactical products a couple of times can you do time for folks what that means. So tackle products being military products. That are used on the battlefield we make a lot of we've over the years made a lot of rocks and holsters, and you know, really durable products that actually are used by soldiers. Yeah. It's really interesting with you guys, especially as a manufacturer in the part of your manufacturing is for the pet industry to come from that background of making really tough military grade staff knowing materials that go into it. I was pretty one. It's really unique. Or as you said, it's pretty. Pretty interesting. Absolutely. We had a unique perspective sort of I feel like it kind of gave us an edge. Just because what we know on the other side of our business, and we were kind of flirting with that idea, but it's really become its own animal over these years integrate. Yeah, exactly. And you know, we're very creative group. So it's it's always like what if we do this? And I wonder if this would work, but we just don't box ourselves in we're sort of out of the box thinkers, and so we've kind of push the limits, and we're really excited with what we've done so far what we feel like we're going to do going forward.

Texans' Deshaun Watson took bus to avoid plane pressure

"Doesn't need to take. So you as a coach as an owner GMC and you need to get out of bounds. You need to slide. You need to not be taking these crazy hits second leading rusher. Among quarterbacks in the NFL is Shawn Watson. Specifically the game that jumps out to me where he took such a beating was against the Cowboys that Sunday night game in in Dallas Arlington. Jerry's world whatever it is. I mean, that's where he really was beaten up taking shots on designed runs and all of that. And it was something that I think has and will continue to impact his season moving forward. But basically if this games in this games in London late. Let's say the Texans are in that London game. They're going to their backup today. He couldn't handle that flight either they're going to backup or they're saying we're going to risk it. And fly you there or you fire up like a cruise ship. The crew a boat in you get there in time for kickoff. And I'm not saying like, we're not saying to Shawn Watson was kicking a greyhound style. Waiting in line for the latrine at the back of the bus or anything. It was pretty probably did it in style is probably like a prom, probably a prom bus on steroids. Yeah. It was probably like Philip rivers is like personal deal that he does from San Diego from north San Diego County to L A every week or Carson river Sadia, MS. But like, that's I mean, that's that's scary. For a franchise quarterback scary for anybody. But especially the Shawn Watson that was straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless, nationwide coverage on America's largest, most dependable four G LT networks while we were sharing injury war stories, and I'll have anything to contribute to that outside of shredding shredding some ankles playing basketball when I was growing up our the doctor's like, you know, you're gonna need surgery to really fix this. And I was like, yeah, I'm not gonna play in the NBA. I'm not gonna play in college. So I I think a good while you're scarred tissue. Pretty bad. I was like. Yeah. That's all right. Anything anything that takes away from the focus on my face or? A second. I thought your shredding other people's ankles, but you actually reading your own ankles. I went up I that's good. Here's Baghdad gears up one of my tried for a for a pin? Block backwards. Bill jumped tried to pick up on the backboard landed on his foot and another time tried to jump and do some I shouldn't have been doing I legitimately. I was like I could try to I try to like either dunk this or do you like a really cool layup where he slapped the backboard and. Yeah, landed on someone's foot both times it was awful while we were Yemen about that the bears have recovered a patriots fumbles setting them up first and ten from New England's twenty four is Cordeiro Patterson who fumbled on the kickoff after the bears field goal on New England's defense doing its part. So far standing up forcing third and six for Trubisky and company from about the fifteen yard lines. We'll keep you updated on that. Meanwhile, the Garrett blunt continues to have a yards per carry of about one or two as the lions are set up in the red zone. But now facing fourth in short. So we'll keep you updated on what happens with them down in Miami. Where the land. Are already up seven nothing. While you were given that up. Right after the fumble Mitch Trubisky just pulled the absolute Houdini act, and it was a Patrick Mahomes esque scramble and run for a touchdown. I mean, he got in. He got in. He got it was the play had to have lasted ten seconds. Absolutely ridiculous. The hustle by the old line, and he almost just walked in. And right right inside the pylon. He did kind of look see he was slowing down. I thought he was going out of pounds. Like he sorta I in right now Trubisky has more rushing yards then passing yards. He's two of seven for twenty two passing yards. And with that that's an average of three point one yards per attempt. But he's got four carries for thirty five rushing yards and a touchdown elsewhere in that game. I mean, he's completed both his passes to trae Burton. So to for twenty two with Tom Brady five of eight for fifty three passing yards and a touchdown to Julian Edelman who has three grabs for twenty six. Let's go back to MetLife stadium. Vikings
