"Two hundred thirty pounds. He can help scary. Terry maclaurin and I think redskins fans are eager to get a wide receiver in this class. Do any other thoughts on top needs. Josh tied in comes to mind now since Jordan rate has gone off line. You know I read off until we got to see what they do. They're GONNA tag sheriff. Are they gonNA give Williams new contract because if they lose both of those guys that all of a sudden it really changes the paradigm of what we expect to. The redskins is awesome. They would go from needing a lot of help. Other places to Holy Crap Dwayne Haskins behind a terrible offense of one. Yup All right the Dallas cowboys. What's the most glaring need Josh? This is one of the most interesting teams to me this off season because they have so many guys scheduled today. Free Agency. I mean Michael. Bennett's Robert Quinn Amari Cooper Dak Prescott. Randall Cobb Jason Witten Buyer Jones. The list goes on and on they get so many contributors that they have to make decisions on those guys. I so this is you know we talk about. How much draft is GonNa Change After Free Agency? This is the epitome of that of that situation because they have so many decisions to make on their own team before they can decide what they're going to do in the draft so tight end defensive line secondary those are the areas that you have to focus on because I think the offensive line in secondary and probably tied in as well were all positions that you were going to have to focus on regardless of what you do in free agency and look again. This is pre agency and so we need to know what the cowboys do with Amari Cooper what they do with that. Prescott what they do by. That'll change it right. But I think what justice funnel. Yeah and whatever happens in free agency. They're still gonNA need a safety plan. Probably DE DRAFT. I haven't taken Alabama's Xavier mckinney. In the first round haven't taken Labus this knowledge I mentioned around two and around three. Haven't paid. Cornerback darnay homes Ucla we'll see what happens with Byron Jones. We'll see what happens with. I mean Jason Wind coming back or see done. It sounded like he is going to go somewhere else like. They've got the giants to play Jason. Garrett is he gonNA take his wit wisdom is he gonNA leave that out man? All right so tight. It totally Thoughts on the cowboys. They're they're hard to deal with it till you know exactly what they do with all these They've done a good job drafting though in recent years and it's to me not entirely difficult to to draft for them. Why would I feel like it's easy to mock for the cowboys? I just give them the best safety. There's always like delpit or Xavier mckinney. Were they're not going to say? I don't think they're going to sign a safety giovane slips there I mean that's that's GonNa be exception here invasive projections but say I mean secondary otherwise is kind of the easy option because they probably need cornerback health and safety help regardless of what they do. Jeff Heath Byron Jones and Free Agency. Yeah it's interesting so the team like the cowboys. Eagles apply for this as well. We'll talk about them at the second but like it's always nice to mock drafts and the team teams needs etc match up with their draft spot. So the cowboys are at seventeen. Like it's just where the safeties in the defensive linemen off and it's an easy slot them in there and then with the eagles is the same thing as well. I think it's fair to say that one of the eagles top needs is wide receiver right. Yep Wide Receiver. Cornerback edge rusher. Who Do you want it? Twenty one develop position. I probably secondary but I would settle for it. Depends on one of the receivers that are available just every single time. I Love Justin Jackson. Especially after four four three but again why receivers classes so deep maybe take. Cj Henderson the cornerback. Out of Florida. These there're or one of the other guys but yeah I had Jesse Jefferson going around one really cares Harrison around to and Michael J. Media I with a cornerback wandering around three to. I don't know if that's the Sexy Siegel. Strap at addresses. Some names kind of knew the shape his roster was in Eaton last year. They were clearly planning for Jason Peters to walk in pre agency. That's why draft Andrei Dillard you look at this ause. There's several guys that are over the age of thirty that they're going to have to replace in the coming years brain. Graham Malcolm Jenkins Chasing Kelsey vinny curry so I would not be surprised if they do not get the wide receiver there if they targeted one of those positions to possibly fill a roll off for the future and kind of plan ahead because you know how he rose means the guy plays a couple of steps ahead so those would be some other positions that I would potentially look for if they do not take wide receiver. A number twenty one. Yeah and it's worth noting that so. The Eagles have used to first round picks on wide receiver since two thousand nine. So that's that's a long time Jerry macklin in two thousand nine eighty read obviously running the ship. Dan and then And then Nelson Agla. Who's WHO's likely going to go. Be disparaged by random people in the news and some other city moving forward. Adler was a chip Kelly. Pick and so like you almost wonder if you look at how how how he drafts and I think he does go play well. Don't think he's trying to like out thinking but it seems like he likes to build from the from the line. You see Andre Dillard Derek Barnett. Of course obviously he took in the first round to You know they had marcus. Smith is a drastic there was a Kelly. Pick two but Fletcher Cox Danny Walk Ins Brandon. Graham they just had so much excess building out from the offensive and defensive lines that I would not be surprised at all if they went in that direction here or even the secondary piece they got a cornerback. Somebody to build up that secondary with the first pick and then came back and got a wide receiver in the second pick. But if you love me Roger. He loves doesn't Jefferson. Maybe that changes the depth of this class at wide receiver. That's gotTa be a consideration. You could possibly get a pretty solid option in the second or Third Round Ryan talked about Jefferson earlier. I mean I've watched a lot more him recently. I love his pieces. Such technician position the way he. You know cuts. His routes the way he'd be anticipation the same page that he was on with. Kyle trask this. Year was just really impressive. He's just really good at it. Everything he does from a technical standpoint. I think are pretty interesting to see what he runs in the forty Ryan is as well. But that's a guy that can be had in the second possibly even the third round. And if you have an opportunity to get a different position rather than reach for a wide receiver in the first round that you have to take advantage of that because with the depth of quarterback offense to tackle some of these better prospects are getting pushed down some guys that we typically would not see at that point in the first round so when they come on the clock. You know maybe you weigh the possibility trading down. Maybe you stay there you trained up. They've got so many options but the number twenty one pig is probably more valuable this year than what we've seen in previous years. Yeah no absolutely. It's funny you mentioned Band Jefferson. He's going to be twenty four when the season starts so I don't know if that's an issue for teams. There's some conversation. He didn't run the combine because he wasn't going to run that fast. But I was Actually watching Noah it the other day and they were playing Florida and you watch him and that dude is so solid when he plays and he stumbled he got beat it. A lot of scrimmage. I it surprised me and I went back and watch it was Jefferson the route so that that's band Jefferson. I mean he made it. He may run a four six. I don't know but you can't cover that kid. It's amazing how easy it is for him to get open despite the quote unquote lack of athleticism. But some of these other kids have but I if you're in the second round I'd be fine with that. I think he's he's that good. We'll see what runs but an age is concerned. But if it's not I feel like he's a guy who could have sort of a Terry maclaurin type come out of nowhere season next year even if he doesn't run a four three all right draft chatter anything else related the NFC east draft yet. I can sit back and let you guys do the the hard labor. I gotTa take a picture you sitting there in that scare room barely my son or my wife walk in with our. That's another reason. I'm fine wrapping. This podcast is my separate sales. Here's deal in Griffin and a supper and apparently she wants him. I some on his IPAD in the dark. This it's like father like son. Yeah exactly that Promo for like a paranormal activity type of movie like something moves in the background and cut the scene. You know Allie. It's actually a little creepy. Would you look at it. And you're sitting here because you're like this. I'm in the dark in here. Like this. Little WEIRD LIKE DRACULA UP leading to your laptop say Haha situation saw four up in there and you're and you're you're really it'd be careful it's weird it's it's a very like kinda straightforward draft thing. These teams aren't really. That good he goes are fine the cowboys no they gotta they gotta take care of their business but like they sorta like you got two and four and then what seventeen and twenty one and it's like there needs sort of just kind of fit with what they have in the landing spots. It's not hard to look at the NFC east and figure it out. I it is hard to look at free agency and deal with all that. Which is why we'll do that on the podcast. Starting tomorrow the Super Friends will break down running free agent running back rankings. Austin Echlert won't make it because he just signed a big deal with that a little bit. Dare Kennedy Melvin Gordon Kenyan. Drake Kareem Hunt. Where will they all land? How much they get paid. We will tell you tomorrow. Josh.

"The four division winners and then to wildcard teams so theoretically then this would mean that a third wildcard team would make and you would have your number one overall seed which in the NFC. This past season was the San Francisco. Forty niners in the AFC was the Kansas City chiefs. They would get a by. I assume I mean this is all my assumption. Hold up a second while we record Adam Schefter. Did Post an article about this? I'll probably right about this. At blogs COM- if you want my thoughts in a more controlled way but Adam schefter article on ESPN DOT COM. If and win a new collective bargaining agreement is finalized and there is now mountain optimism that it could be done sometime in the next week it is expected to change the NFL's playoff structure is currently concentrated for next season under the current proposal. That is expected to take effect. Seventeen from each conference will qualify for the playoffs. Instead of the six in addition only one team from each conference receive a first round bye. Adam renew all of this. According to the tweet article goes on additionally the players on the teams that earn a first round bye will receive postseason paid for that weekend. That was not the case under the currency. Ba which always rankled someplace. Excuse me now decides. They're trying to work through the final issues including getting the players to sign off on a seventeen game regular season that has yet to be agreed to take effect until twenty twenty one at the earliest. Okay so the big change here from the article is that we learned that teams that have for. Sean buyers will get paid for the playoffs. That makes you earn a first round bye. You shouldn't miss out on on the playoffs. But if the playoff structure that is being discussed had been in place this last season as mentioned the forty niners in the chiefs would have still had their by. And then you would have had the saints. Packers Eagles Texans Ravens and patriots. All hosting the wild card round so well now get. I'm assuming six games on wildcard weaken which will be fun but but yeah so and then I guess the the lowest seed that survives ultimately plays the team. That had the first round by so now. You only get a by if you're at the top team that's interesting the NFL clearly wants more games. Going on I wonder and this is just my own wondering if they want a wild card game since they will now have two extra ones. If you know 'cause they play them on Saturday and Sunday I wonder if they WANNA put one on Monday if they wanted to put one on Thursday but then that would create a really awkward advantage or disadvantage for the following. Week when you're taking on the team that has the first round by and there's a lot to figure out there but had this format been in place last season the two extra wildcard teams on the NFC. Cy would have been the Los Angeles Rams even though the cowboys beat them near the end of the season and on the AFC side the Pittsburgh steelers. So That's interesting very interesting. Indeed I should also mention to put a final sort of cowboys spin on this. If if all this comes to fruition soon if the new CBA is finalized that could really really really affect this. Season's this offseason free agency for the cowboys. And this was something that we talked about with with Joy Epstein back during the Super Bowl we joy from USA. Today and if you'll recall all NFL teams as it currently stands and this is at six PM on Wednesday February Nineteenth. Two Thousand Twenty. Just in case. You're going back lesson. This whatever as it currently stands all. Nfl teams can utilize both the franchise and transition tags. This offseason. That's why the cow was can apply the tagged either Dak Prescott and a Mark Cooper Dak Prescott Byron Jones. Whatever combination they so choose and every. Nfl team contacted different players that they feel so inclined to do so the reason that that is such as because two thousand and twenty is regarded as the final leave year under the current CBA. So I don't know and this was something I reached out to. Somebody enjoy said that she reached out to somebody and I believe Joyce said that it would not impact the current cowboys offseason. But the person that I spoke to said that it very well could so. And that's what I'm saying. I don't know if this is regarded like a contract. It's an extension of the day so this is no longer the final year but be aware that that could change. That could create even more pressure to kind of get back to the contract discussion to started this whole episode. Really that could create more mounting pressure on the couch to get both deck and somebody else done as they will only theoretically have one franchise tag or transition tack to utilize if things don't go their direction but but yeah. This was a jam packed episode. I had a good time. I hope you do and I felt it. I felt felt everything moving and grooving and in rocking and rolling and I hope I hope you had a great time. That's really that's all I ever want. I want for you to have the absolute best Thursday of all time. Have the best Thursday ever. You know why because you deserve it. We were Yana. My friends as always go cowboys and peace out..

"That happens could it be next year. Do you expect McCarthy's cowboys to be Super Bowl. Contenders that quickly I e the cowboys have been in my mind truly super rule contenders twice in the last quarter century. One two team. You're familiar with the team. The year after parcells left Wade Phillips first year thirteen and three three a truly electric football team. They got upset at home by the. Oh seven giants when Stewart's wants to get to and that team was Zehi real contender. Thirteen pro bowlers on that team. And you Eddy quarterback that's better than deck. They were able to you. You what you saw that year was the best version of those Dallas cowboys. The only other year. I would argue that. They were a super bowl. Contender was the DADS has called. It didn't catch it year. Where they lost to the Green Bay packers that was a twelve and fourteen and twenty fourteen that lost a heartbreaker to the Green Bay packers? Twenty six twenty one on some people would say they were contenders twenty sixteen. I think it's almost impossible to super with a rookie quarterback so I think there was maybe a glass ceiling on that team but this year seemed won. Eight Games names. They're going to bring back mostly the same roster. I know they're going to be drastically. We think drastically better coaching. What they need is their star players as their highest paid players to play like it and I don't know if demarcus Lawrence has it in him to be a top three pass rusher and football? We've seen it one year and it was a contract correct here. The Zeke is the highest paid running back in the league. This year is the fifth or sixth best running back in football. What they paid seek to do is what we are seeing? Derrick Henry do just asked run over people and then run past them and they're about to pay back like he's the best quarterback in the whole league. He obviously isn't so for those reasons. I don't think this is cowboys. Team is a true contender. Even with the addition of Mike McCarthy. I think they're a true contender because they have the talent on his team. I mean coming into twenty nine hundred and we said it was one of the most talented rosters authors in the NFL in about a month ago bought up all the different metrics. I mean they're a team that has a offense and a top ten defense. They're only four teams in the NFL. That had that and in in terms of net yard differential they're second in the NFL for context the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco Forty niners or third. Both of those are pretty good teams right so the Dallas cowboys have the requisite talent to compete at the highest level has just a matter of the missing ingredient finding somebody that has a path to success for this team mm-hmm because Jason Garrett for all positive things that you could say about him whether it's being a motivator whether it's play design on the offensive side of the ball Jason Garrett doesn't have the formula for success to compete for a championship. He hasn't been able to get this team past the divisional round McCarthy has he actually won a super bowl in. At and T. Stadium. He's four. Four Noah stadium by the way. So there's a lot of good good things for Jerry Jones to look at when considering Mike McCarthy but he's got one twenty five and seventy seven record as a head coach so to me. This is a guy. That's a proven winner. Somebody that has won at the highest levels and that's somebody that has instant credibility when he walks into that locker room now to me the only question. It is not whether or not the head coach knows what he knows what he's doing not whether or not the roster is talented. Enough is whether Jerry Jones can take his hands off it enough and let football people people take care of football business. That's the only thing that's yet to be seen. Because in my opinion coming into this year Jerry Jones undermine Jason Garrett and when your owner is doing doing that to your head coach that makes it hard for the guys in the locker room to trust a messaging. Coming from the guy on the sideline. Well they're not gonNA even go to the guy on the sideline because 'cause they know who's really pulling the strings but I don't think that they're super bowl contenders this year. I don't think that there are all. I just. Don't think that they are this year and it it doesn't really have anything to do with them. Per Se it has everything to do with all the other teams in that conference now that division. I think that they could win in that division but there are so many other teams in the NFC conference that are right there in have in having success of winning or being seen as a team like New Orleans to me is a team that is probably going to be on the downtick but the Seattle is still ascending San Francisco. Still ascending. Being Green Bay should be able to maintain I think those are the teams absolutely and so when you look at the Dallas Cowboys. And how they're configured do they have the personnel. Yes now they have the coach coach. Ken They really put together. These guys. And keep a Mario Cooper Dak Prescott. All these high paid guys up you get five five or six guys that are ten million dollars in calorie hit so caps here captured this going into this season. Can You keep those guys on the field. Can You keep those guys driven to play ball like Dak.. Prescott is not been paid. So he's going to give you everything he has. He's he's Zeke. Elliott has been paid. He might give you something one week. He might not the next so when you're looking at the way that they're already constructed the only guy who still driven to do. What might McCarthy wants to do is Dak Prescott? Why he hasn't been paid Dak.? Prescott is going to get paid. And Ezekiel Elliott is paid so those two guys are going to be there the line maybe not the greatest in football is still a good line. They still had the top ten defense and now they've got a proven head coach. So explain to me where. What am I missing? Why are they so much further off than you think? I don't think Seattle's roster that much better Seattle roster is not so there's a TV right we'll because Seattle's got one the three best players in the league at their quarterback position. And whether you're all in on McCarthy or a little more ambivalent he ain't Pete Carroll and Seattle doesn't have is the frontline players Dallas has but they have a lot of B. C. Plus B. minus the their middle classes is thriving if you will maybe the only one left the Dallas Dallas. Looks the hell of a lot you know. Continue the analogy like America. They have a upper crust. It is new in great then but they don't have any type of middle class on their team so the other reason I'm bringing this up earlier but just where my my head goes with. It is man injuries or just look. There's no team that's that's immune to it no team that's extra prone to it and the cowboys were far healthier than the average bridge. Football team typically is that typically doesn't repeat year-over-year they are not a team that is built to sustain the injuries. So if you had a year and the Jason Garrett didn't do a good job but he's not a total doofus. If you had a year redact played the best year of his career. Zeke was not awfully wasn't elite but he was is not awful you were healthier than average you still out Amari. We'll see if they have them next to your your offensive line was fully intact paid and you went eight the the next year when you have a couple more of those injuries when I if Dak takes a bit of a regression because he's learning a new outfit. Whatever the reasons are can you gotta take three steps forward? They're not a step away they they have to go from out of the playoffs. Five hundred record to double digit wins to winning playoff games to winning. Probably at least just one road playoff game. That is a lot of steps they have to take to be a super bowl content. It's a lot of steps to take. But it's not outside the realm of possibility in the divisional round. We only have one on team. That was a year ago. And that's your Kansas City chiefs. So it's not like we don't see teams were out come back and be contenders. The next season I feel like the Dallas Cowboys had the talent you you talked about. The depth will mcclay will continue to draft well down there in Dallas. They've had the groceries. It's just a matter of finding the right cook to put the meal together. I think they finally got the Guy I Mike McCarthy. That's capable of doing that. It's now about Jerry Jones allowing Mike McCarthy. Thank you for listening to the first things first. podcast remember leaving Iverson Review and tell us what you think. "Total defense their thirtieth rush defense. And I'm sorry if you you can't get New England off the field or Baltimore off the field or Indianapolis off the field. You're not winning any playoff games. You cannot be disband running the football last night. They got four more picks and the chargers were going for the tie with eighteen seconds left in Mexico City. They simply don't do enough. Well they get to the quarterback back pretty well. But you know when your offense won't be on the field because you can't stop the Ravens running game your tenth in the NFL number. Not I think the raiders right. Now do more well than the Kansas City chiefs. The raiders have allowed the second fewest sacks. Their offensive line's better. The raiders are tied for fourth within giveaways with only ten. They don't turn it over there healthier than Kansas City. They run the football better than Kansas City. They've won five of their last seven and got up against against teams like Chicago and pushed them around. This is a real raiders team. I was totally wrong on it. Mike Mayo done an unbelievable job between Richie. Gee Incognito Trent Brown the offensive line between Josh Jacobson running back Hunter Reference Renfro the wide receiver that tight end from Lsu. Darren Waller the other tight end from Baltimore. They can play power football. They can be clever. They're incredibly efficient. Ninth and offensive rushing yards urge per game so top. Candle pouted. Eat The clock raiders. Nine number eight cowboys at eight. I drop 'em listen. We got a problem here. Defensively Jeff Doc Driscoll gave you problems there twenty-first and takeaways they haven't had a takeaway in two weeks again. Jeff Driscoll Kirk cousins in Primetime takeaways. Tell me you're making the other quarterback uncomfortable when you start seeing big turnovers. That's like last night. You know you see a lot of turnovers it's like. Oh there's there's something going. On the quarterback he is rushed Dallas. Doesn't do anymore. Last couple of weeks are given up. Twenty eight a game to what I consider you know Kirk cousins thousands and Jeff Driscoll Kirk cousins is obviously better. It's not about Dax one of the things I love about this team left. Tackle Amari Cooper Dak loved. That loved that like their weapons a lot. Randall Cobb Michael Gallup that actually have one of the top four or five receiving cores in the NFL. But this defense is a problem especially when you're in a division with Garoppolo. Oh and Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.

I think it's just a matter of making the numbers work so jerry. Stephen can take care of some of the other guys that want their money as well. The term disrespectful was used. Jerry jones seems to be speaking about daqing amari in a different tone than he has with zeke d. Do you think that's changed. The complexion action of how zeke is approaching this or the way he looks at a given the way jerry has kind of directed some of his comments amongst all of these three guys well first of all address this jerry i think the reason for that is the fact that there in camp they're practicing and they don't have two years left on their deal and so i think that is making jerry feel more better about them than it is about the and again they have had the off field transgressions as either so all of that is coming in the play for zip from zeke's standpoint of course i mean he's sitting there watching this and he i mean it seems like every other day. There's some slight right. You know need a legally new rusher to win the super bowl. Even all of jerry super bowls had illegally in emmett smith right. We're not going to set the the market you know steven jones talking about analytics and things like that and i mean and then you come out in praised the way he did and i and we know that as much as i liked that is not a top to your quarterback. I think all of that plays into is not just disease coup comment. I think it was all this stuff. You mentioned as well. No all of those things do factor in the other reality that you have to look at what these negotiations is out of the three guys that are that are angling for contracts right now. Amari cooper dak prescott has gotten zeke elliott. There's really only argument to be made for one of those guys to be paid top of the market money that prescott is not going to reset the marketplace russell wilson. Will we'll still be the highest paid quarterback in the national football league after tax deal gets done same thing with amari cooper. He's not getting michael thomas money twenty million dollars a year but ezekiel elliott elliot. I mean it's it's easy to say that when you look at these negotiations he should eclipse with todd gurley is getting that fourteen point seven five million dollars per year and forty five million billion dollars in practical guarantees. He should eclipse all of those numbers. I think this is a much more difficult negotiation than those other guys just because you do have comparables. We're should slot under where amari cooper should slot under. I don't think you have that with q. L. let's see i think they're looking at it like that. I think we talked about it yesterday. I think the todd gurley lee situation has hurt zeke's position because dallas is looking at it like this is actually the same time they gave girly contract and they didn't have to pay pam early they decided to and now he's damaged. Goods and you had a guy like c. J. anderson get off the couch and fill in admirably for him. So i think dallas is looking at that. I i think they also considered the demarco mur situation where i mean murray had eighteen hundred yards and again not nearly as much wear and tear as zeke his already had and they let him go and so. I think that i'm not seeing the new venture saying but just to push back a little uh-huh. Todd gurley doesn't have the first three months of the season that he had last year. The rams are probably not going to super bowl so of jerry. Jones is looking at it and saying if i pay my running back if that means is that i have an opportunity to be in the super bowl. I'm sure that the dallas cowboy of what listen i'm sure that the dallas cowboys would sign up for the opportunity to get there. What are these next four..

It's easy to say that when you look at these negotiations he should eclipse with todd gurley is getting that fourteen point seven five million dollars per year and forty five million billion dollars in practical guarantees. He should eclipse all of those numbers. I think this is a much more difficult negotiation than those other guys just because you do have comparables. We're should slot under where amari cooper should slot under. I don't think you have that with q. L. let's see i think they're looking at it like that. I think we talked about it yesterday. I think that i'm not seeing the new venture saying but just to push back a little uh-huh. Todd gurley doesn't have the first three months of the season that he had last year. "He's one rushing title two of the first three years. He's been in the national football league and he's arguably the best player on that dallas. Cowboys was team. We're not going to set the the market you know steven jones talking about analytics and things like that and i mean and then you come out in praised the way he did and a and we know that as much as i liked that is not a top to your quarterback. Zeke elliott is a top tier running back if not the best running back back in the league so he has to be sitting back and feeling disrespect. "<hes> we'll have to wait and see but but I think the cowboys are also going to be pushing it because they're also another team. What are they gonNA do without a effective running back like ability? Can they make the title of on that <hes> that they wanted with like that and with Amari Cooper Dot Prescott also through guys that they're looking to pay well the one thing I think that the cowboys would have more leverage over Zeke than the chargers would have over Melvin. Gordon is what Oh you laid out earlier again. We're talking to Jeff Darlington here on the Stephen. A Smith Show will cain filling in for Stephen The chargers windows now right like I mean it's it's now in its short. It's it's another year or two. Maybe three with Philip rivers age and they're good. They're good across across the board defensive line. It seems like I picked the chargers last year to go to the Super Bowl. I'm going to be a little hesitant to jump back on that Bandwagon Jeff with the way they've continually run into the Patriots Been Incapable of overcoming those playoff troubles but they're you're better on paper and yeah we'll don't dismiss. Don't dismiss the whole the whole thing. That's going on behind the scenes in Los Angeles chargers cannot sell tickets like big. They're not they're not selling tickets to the new stadium either like they're not gonNa to be able to do that without a ridiculously good team so if you take Melvin Gordon out of the equation like over what kind of money Stan Kroenke the owner eventually I still look at this and say like we're trying to win. Market share here too so like there are a number of factors to your point that are hanging over Melvin Gordon the chargers that maybe aren't over. I don't know Jerry Jones. Strike means the guy who's very patient with that kind of stuff you so a couple of different outlets including E._s._p._N.. and Bill Barnwell have started talk about these teams like the cowboys and the chargers I and others that have young players young cores players under the age of twenty five starters under the age of twenty five and the triplets obviously would be rivers and Gordon and Keenan Allen in with the Charters Amari Cooper Dak Prescott is with the cowboys but you've got others across leagues. You go across like who do you think has the best skill position set of triplets in the N._F._l.. Right now well like if you see it's interesting one. What Is Talk Really GonNa do this year? That's a huge one because <hes> like I. I love what the Rams are doing with that with that kind of situation that you have going on out there. <hes> New Orleans to me is a really good one with brees Kamara and <hes> and Michael Thomas like that. That's a really competitive but but to your point you're right and if you look at all of those triplets across the League when you really analyze them I guarantee that there's always going to be to your point and under twenty five player because you your best shot right now you're you gotta gotta find those deals but the best shot with the quarterback deals that are out there. If you're going to have that kind of triplet scenario you guys do with young players. You've gotTa do where you say well under the salary cap in summer and then wind up paying your quarterback all right e._S._p._N.. N._F._L. "Again, a reminder that is organized team activities and you can see the map the teams that are on the field as we speak. We're having to have you with us on this Wednesday afternoon. Wendi nix field Yates Victor Cruz. Louis riddick. We will start this afternoon in the Lone Star state as we mentioned the Cowboys are among the fifteen teams on the field today for OT as Ezekiel Elliott did participate. He was also asked about a recent incident in Las Vegas, captured by TMZ sports that showed Elliott, shoving and pushing a lodging, Agha's security guard. He was not arrested charged. The video of Zeki. Oh Elliott surfaced. And have you spoken to him about that? I've no real comment beyond just being aware of the situation and Steven Jones spoke on behalf of the organization, the other day. Tat Archer covers the Cowboys. He joins us now Todd. How is Dallas dealing with the latest situation surrounding Zeke Elliott? Pretty much business as usual here. Wendy, the, the Cowboys going through their second OTA practice of the off-season. Zeke is out here doing everything. The individual worked at teamwork taking his last carrier last play of each period. Sixty seventy yards to the end zone. And as you heard Jason Garrett would not get did not want to comment on what happened in Las Vegas. Referring, Stephen Jones. We talk Steven Jones on Monday. He said, this would not impacting impending negotiations for the running back. They still believe him. They have a lottery spec for Zeke and they want to sign him up long term. But right now, they're focused is on Amari Cooper Dak Prescott, they will to get something seek, but so far, that's, that's where the Cowboys are heading business as usual. With Zeke Elliott a long to do this several changes by the way to the Cowboys offense you've got a new offense coordinator in new quarterback codes chasing. Whitten is back. How does all of that affect the quarterback Dak Prescott? Yeah, I asked Jason Garrett that question here today during the press conference about if they have to do more with this offense because of the new faces even if Jason ga- Jason witnessed an old face. But Randall Cobb is here came from Green Bay Kellen more than new offensive coordinator implementing some changes as offense John kidnapped quarterback. Coach really getting on Dak Prescott about his foot work, and his mechanics and trying to make sure that is straight. So there's a lot to do here even though this is an offense that Elliott's in his fourth year Prescott entering his fourth year that offensive line, the core of that guy been around for a long time, the receivers still kind of getting used to tackle the Mari Cooper, but there's a lot of work for this Cowboys offense to go through here, early in these OTA's, because they know that you have to do a much better job in twenty nine hundred if they wanna Vance further in the playoffs tied. Thank you. And Victor, I will start with the because we had a chance with failed and Louis discuss this yesterday. But look, again, I want to be clear, there were no charges filed. It wasn't arrested but he's e Elliott has had a history of sort of being in the wrong place at the wrong. Would it? Give you pause. If you were the Cowboys and you were discussing a long term deal, not necessarily understand, you know where he is. He wasn't arrested. This incident didn't have any legal ramifications. But the only thing I take away from that is the video after watching it. He was by himself. There wasn't any friends. There wasn't any around him. Anyone around him? There wasn't anyone that seemed like he knew or was around for him to take care of him. When he's out in about in public, places like this he has to understand that he is Zeke Elliot and that no matter where he goes, he needs to have someone there, even if it's just a best friend security, bodyguard, whatever it is. He needs to have someone there to watch him and make make sure that he's okay. And that he's held accountable for the things that he's doing that. He's in a positive state of mind, and that he's in a positive state no matter where he goes, clearly this could've escalated. It doesn't look like it did was pretty, but it could have been a lot worse than to your point. You want to have a circle around you to help you make good..

"Can't sign every one of them. Did not going to be able to do that. Hopefully, if we continue to stay young team draft. Well, then that'll allow us to even more in a few extra guys that we wanna keep around him. You've mentioned the four those who can do more than one at a time. But those repel we're often running and Zeke don't get me wrong. I mean do more than two. How about the time line for when they might strike with any or all of that trio more from Darlington. You saw that big. No there in terms of his free agency availability he will be under contract for next season. So through twenty twenty the questionnaires he can negotiate now, and he would like to get a deal done. Now. This is amicable at this point the Cowboys upset yet. We're gonna work on the question becomes in July and into August ranch training camp, what will be the scenario if they get a more Cooper Dak Prescott on the Elliott will also want his deal done before the start of this season. If they are not able to get that done, then we start to wonder about a potential holdout, and I know that sounds a little crazy because he still has two years not wind chill Elliott is capable of negotiating contract now. And that is exactly what he wants understand that looking at the list of people that they need to get in his well before this see them getting all three done before we one Darlington on sports would say steel. "So it's not used right away. Like yes teams to start franchising players. But normally they get through contract negotiations. And then be forced free agency strikes. If they can't work out a deal, then they'll usually slap the tag on them. But it seems like the Nick foles thing they already have planned franchise tag him. They could franchise them or they could transitional tag him. Who knows? Yeah. True. But there's still like, and then, of course, the ravens with CJ Moseley is at the end of his contracts, Terrell suggs, like d franchise tag on those guys. So as soon as clowney from the Texans is he going to be one of those guys. I get franchise tag. There's still a lot of unanswered questions with a lot of teams because whatever moves they make will affect their off-season who they can get in the long run. Yeah. I think DeMarcus Lawrence today. John cloudy are the two most likely receiver franchise tag. If they don't get a long-term deal here in the coming weeks. Obviously we're talking about two guys. To the better players that their positions defensive in a premium position in the league DeMarcus Lawrence just play last year under the franchise tag. So he is certainly a possibility to get tagged again, if there's no long-term deal. He has twenty five sacks over the last two seasons. That's tied for fourth in the league. He's hit the quarterback forty nine times that seventh in the league in the last two years. He's an elite four three defensive end. He's twenty seven years old is very young. He's been healthy and estate out of trouble. The last couple of years he spent four games in two thousand sixteen because the substance abuse policy, but he has not missing game last season's. So what year will he he's up key? He does a lot of good things for team. But he's not anything. He's not doing anything unique or special. He's just doing the tackles which is comes given with his he's one of the best. Oh, you're telling Lawrence. I thought I thought you told somebody else. I apologize. I was thinking for some reason. I'm Jay Moseley, regardless. Yes. Vargas, laura. I know they just have so many other players to look at and with that like like we were talking about before in this podcast. We have like they have Jack Prescott look next season in executive Elliot to look at Amari Cooper, like what you're in a kind of a tight spot because do you pay him a lot this season and pay like, you can pay all these guys max contracts? There's no problem with that. Because it's the Cowboys after all, but. Do you do that though? Is it worth all is it worth to get? All these innomax contractor, do are they gonna have to are they going to risk lending one of these guys go for a better fresian and long run. Well, I mean, it's interesting because I know what you mean when you see max contract, you just mean, there's no actual. Yeah. Yeah. You know what? I mean. I I use the basketball term. But you know, what I mean by that like just a lot of money. Cowboys can certainly pay all guys a lot of money. They have a lot of salary cap space. They're projected to have about one hundred forty million dollars next year. That's obviously not taking into account signing some of these guys early. Like Margaret Cooper Dak Prescott. Even warrants in Ezekiel Elliott. Honestly, if I was a Cowboys, I would sign warrants long-term. I'd get that out of the way. I probably sign Zeke Elliott long-term well Zeke Elliot to given..

"I got a question if they don't if they do very quiet, and I highly doubt it, but it's possible that they don't win the guys we're talking about. They don't land a big name or a big key player in the offseason. Will you say that's a big hit on the regular season hopes or their civil hopes that is. I mean, I don't think they have to go crazy. But it would just be really nice for them to get some big purse. But like, no they don't have to. I mean, they could still what if they draft like a d end or something like that in the first round. And then they sign like a pretty decent receiver in free agency. Then I think they could even be better we have to remember the colts were one of the best teams at the second half of the season. They've lost like one game in the last ten add to. Add one more equal to math everybody. So. Yeah, I really like what the culture doing. I would say of all the teams that lost in the playoffs. They have the best chance of even getting a lot better next year, not just maintaining but getting better. It was not too long ago that we were using this team as the butt of all jokes. Now, they're the face. The face of the joke. I guess like they're on the opposite side of the but. Got it. Yeah. That's right. Good. Who are next? We should do NFC team. Let's was Cowboys. They got in very I think they got lucky because if Alex Smith doesn't break his leg and every single place imaginable in the Redskins. Keep continuing play how they were playing. They would have been in the playoffs and NFC's champions rather than Dallas being in. Sees Cowboys have some interesting decisions to make because as it stands right now. They have fifty million dollars in Couchbase problem is. They haven't number of players that are on the last year there deal Dak Prescott Ezekiel Elliott. In Amari Cooper, all three will go into this off season on the last year there deal. So you have to figure there's even reports yesterday before the game or sorry Saturday before the game that Zeke Elliott's agent was already pushing the Cowboys to have an extension this off season to get him paid now, which I think sounds likely to happen. You gotta think with Amari Cooper is he Elliot and deck Preska if they were to re-sign all three of those players that's probably gonna eat about seventy to seventy five million dollars a season. It's are heard for sure to get hurt. The can't really go crazy this off season because so they have to do everything with that in mind that they still need to spend a ton of money. I wouldn't be surprised if they use all their money to keep their guys this year to free up maybe a little bit next year if they wanted if they had to get rid of one player Cooper, I guess I know the answer. This Cooper Dak or Zeke. Who would I mean? I don't think there. Going to give up any of them. I would be shocked if all three I'll tell you right now, they're not giving up Cooper. They just gave up a first round pick balled out. He bawled out. He did as equal Elliot. He's not hitting free agency deck Prescott. No matter what your feelings are..

"Ninth season in the NFL for the Houston. Texans. He was a first round draft pick the Texan secondary is arguably the strength of their team is joining us. Now he had a career year. There were only two Cornerbacks in the NFL that were targeted eighty times. And did not allow a touchdown yet. You're not a pro bowler that kind of ridiculous. I think so it's got the pro bowls a popularity contest. Definitely like all pro is different. Right. Bowl is definitely a popularity contest. Did it take you off? Yeah. I was a bit ticked about it. Yeah. Little bit. Those kind of move was your best year yet. Definitely you listen. Did you lose a bonus on that? No bonus tied to all right. It's not like all right. That's good. I'd be tech. Right. Okay. So you faced all sorts of guys let's start with this you faced Andrew luck times. Yes. So let's let's talk about this you faced him early. When I don't think in week five sixty was healthy, then you faced him late. And then last week, right? Let's talk about the early luck you face and the later, Andrew luck. It's like you said early on. I don't think he was. As healthy. But I mean, you can still see very capable you know, we are not the type of guy years in. No, he proved the later in the year. You know, the first to play them two more times. I think the second time we played them thinking he might do for like four hundred or something on us. What's his strength because Kansas City Kansas City's got a pass rush? What will they be watching? What is Andrew luck do that? It's tough to defend for one. He's very smart. I mean, he can make every throw is. But the thing that is always difficult to face quarterbacks that can keep the play alive. You know? He's very mobile. No. He can get out of your pocket. You know, make the Oscars who plays as well. You know? So is is difficult to face guys. Like that, you know, top of him being a pocket pass in being able to make every throw possible. Yeah. Does he audible a lot at the line of scrimmage? Did you sense that? Yes. Yes. Does a lot of audibles? Almost who's kind of sit there and plays the chase max, which you into you show your hand. But I think he'd do a great job of recognizing. What guys are in after you know, the ball to snap. Also that's post nap. Now are there offensive line used to be a mess? I mean, you know, that years ago offensive line was terrible. They got a kid named Clinton Nelson. We got a piece of video he even wrestled Davey avian cloudy. I think a bunch of its success Kareem is I think is offensive line's real good now. Right, right. They've been doing a great job of protecting them. I think those far I'm not sure how many times he's been sacked. But I know is. Maybe Leeson NFL. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Right. But they've been doing a great job protect them in. You know, you got a guy like that under and line them that way, you know, it's going to be tough to beat them. All right. Let's talk about the other AFC game. You face Tom Brady this year action very early. It was September in New England wasn't great then. And it was a very they got on you. Then you came back. If I remember. So you face Brady price several times in your career. Yes. Several times. I you have several times generally, not been great. Never beat them. All you never beat him. Never be. That's not great. I didn't mean to house very really a inappropriate by me. What? Now now, you don't have to compare them to lock. But what does Tom do for Ukraine that is really tough? I think it does a great job of finding his his mismatches and exploits those very well. You know, obviously, you know, he he's very smart very precise. And what he does as no he's arguably the greatest of all time. So, you know, anytime you got him understanding, you're gonna always have a chance. So you know, he does a lot ogling as well. Also gets rid of the ball quickly. If I recall you guys couldn't get to him JJ watt debut. He got rid of the ball fast. Yeah. He does. He does so many points it out, you know, any phases mismatches, and he goes to them right away. Yeah. Let's talk about Dak Prescott. Now you guys beat the Dallas Cowboys. And now Dak Prescott. You know, there's a lot of debate on this show. What is he now is pretty mobile doesn't have I wouldn't say a great arm. Now, you've faced a when didn't have a Mario Cooper yet didn't show that was early. They didn't have a Cooper Dak what do I if you're playing back? What are you see definitely a threat guy? I think he's very capable. I mean, I have a great running game. So it has definitely takes a lot of pressure off him. He had to go into the game. Knowing has throw it fifty whatever times how many times to to to get a win. So he can hand it off to you know, to take some of the pressure off the audible as much not as much not as much as just kind of get in what they're going to get in. And they do what they do. You know? Just you audible a little bit against us. But not as much as some of these other guys. Sure. Older veteran players breezy. Audible more. You also face Nick foles whose hard to figure out I supposed to be a backup. Let the guys eleven and two as a starter. I can't quite figure Nick foles out for Philadelphia you faced him you lost to him. What what is Nick, obviously, nobody else can figure might either some about him. Once he gets into the playoffs. Down the stretch for his team. You know, he does some great stuff can make every throw on the field. Now, he'll go deep death on on. I mean guy like that. You know me, and he has pieces also, you know, astronaut Jeffrey, Gordon, take earth's having a great year. They got sproles in a couple of other guys. I rented it back. So you know, he has pieces around they do a great job of putting them in situations where he can be successful. Yeah. Kareem Jackson euro free agent, by the way. Definitely somebody's gonna pay for you hope. So yeah, I would too. That's the plan d Andre Hopkins you faced him at practice for years. I remember the Dallas game. We have a piece of tape on this the play he did against Dallas you face. All these great receivers, including the Andre Hawkins. If I said to you, including the Andrei your teammate practice three best receivers you've ever faced three best. I had to go number one. I'll go Julio and aby Antonio Brown top. Now, they're all kind of different Antonio's kind of get what makes de'andre great because he can make the contested catches. You can be all over them. Some kind of way he's going to figure out how to catch it Antonio Brown. What's special speed speed quickness? He he made the tough catches also. But he he's he's special for you know, he catch it in and he can run away from you. How about Julio? Strong big strong guy fast, and he can run every route. He he's he's kind of a bigger guy, but he has small guy skills. Yeah. So it's it's tough to cover guys like that. Hey, by the way, you went to Alabama. Yeah. I did and get into that. They got crushed. I gotta be honest about it. That was brutal. How shocked were you? I'm still sick about that. That's it. Brutal man, I was not expecting that. What do you think happened? The quarterback from Clemson had a great day. He's really good. He's really good. I told somebody the other day in in two years, you'll probably be number one overall pick. I saw a camp in San Diego Uruguay told joy this. I went down for a friend to a high school football camp. I didn't know who he was. He was so much better than all the other high schoolers I don't talk high school football recruiting on the show. But I went I came back that weekend. I told my friend Jason Whitlock, I said, oh, boy, he's oh six six special huge arm. You think Sabin never gonna leave Alabama. No. I don't think. So why would he is making a lot of money and go where? Well, I mean, if you if I will New York Giants, no, I don't think he goes back to the NFL. You don't think? So I don't think so. Yeah, if I'm here, my would by the way. I ask you about the Houston Texans. You guys have struggled in the playoffs. And you've and you've won your division. There is this stigma. That's hanging over you right now as an organization, right? Can you sense? It the feel like people doubt you now in big spots. I think so I think that's why we don't get a lot of credit. You know, that we may deserve, you know, fourteen we wanna eleven games this year, and that's tough in this week. And it was always kind of like, oh, well, I think they were saying like our Scouser was easier. Something like that. But I I'm not sure what it is. Once we get to the playoffs. You know? We we definitely not playing up to our expectations are different, right? Like I like New England over the chargers. Even though I think the chargers have better players because New England has a way to win situationally. Right. Yeah. And in the playoffs situation of football is is big. It is is big. So is is definitely that's pretty much the key in the in the in the games, you know, because it'll come down to different situations. Would it'll be about four to five plays that a determining game. So in usually New England comes out on a winning those. Yeah. Nine years of free agent Kareem Jackson good having you on the show. All right. Thanks for having me, you bet. But coming up, you might think it's the worst job in the NFL. And we may change your mind after what we're going to show you that is next invest for last. According to experts here some top cybersecurity for dictionaries for this year..

"To work out again. Yeah. That's true. The holidays, always, you know, makes you pack on the pounds, even when you're trying to avoid it. But like, you know, grandma's like have another piece of pie, and you're like mine. Yeah. That's that's how it goes. No, grandma. Okay. So good anyways. We gotta talk about the NFL week fifteen games that happened on Saturday and Sunday as well as preview Monday night football. We're going to run up the MBA. There's a lot that happened in the NBA this weekend, also some trades cancellation of trades and some games apparently. So yeah, we'll talk about those. But first, let's how week fifteen the NFL probably the most backwards week of the of the year, so far just how audit was just based off everything and happen. Yeah. I would say this week in the NFL proved that everybody's terrible football teams, though. Yeah. Nine about that my negative outlook on life. I would say everyone's terrible. I would just say everyone. Had a terrible team. Everyone just had a bad game. But happened I'm like Oprah. You're a terrible team. And you're a terrible team. I think it was just a bad week for area. Teachers it was it was this one on terrible team. The Rams they played their the saints. Everybody else's terrible beating Saint cer- terrible. So you know, man, they have negative Nancy. The saints got beat by Cowboys team that got shut out yesterday. The terrible. What part of like one bad game doesn't define the team one bad game. I love it. I love that. So one bad game defines every teen. I lost. Yeah. Yeah. Pretty much. Yeah. Yeah. Get a reason Twitter's thing, and I don't like Twitter you have to like Twitter if you're in this business, sometimes annoying. Let's about the games though. It's talked about every team in why they're terrible since we were talking about the Cowboys are with them for the Cowboys got shut out by the courts terrible Twenty-three than nothing. Andrew lucked. Even throw a touchdown pass. It was all Marlin Mack who had one hundred thirty nine yards rushing and two touchdowns. Really carried the game for the colts. Offensively this song. I know you're I'm not saying this to be rude, but you're little bit younger. But that that song return to the MAC return of the magnet. The man is the nineties early ninety seven. No, it's like arby's on anyways. As I was saying MAC had a great game. Yes. He had one hundred thirty nine yards rushing five yards. A carry two touchdowns. Get a lot of big runs that game to. Yes. He did. He had a long of Twenty-one guards. And Andrew luck. Only went sixteen twenty seven which is usually he goes like forty to fifty passes a game and going throwing only twenty seven times this game is actually a rarity as his practice and then his opponent Dak Prescott through thirty nine times in through only two hundred and six yard. So we so they almost had the same number of yards but half the amount of passing attempts. It's really truly remarkable. Offense was terrible. They couldn't throw the ball. They can run the ball even with Zico. He had a very media eighteen attends eighty seven yards in that was in no touchdowns any laws. He fumbled. The ball ones any end. It just seemed like it was a bad game in general for the Cowboys. It can really answer anything. They can get the job done on offense. And they couldn't get the job done and defense. This team looked like it was a six six and ten were one in five on fourth downs. Every time they needed a fourth down at seemed like they could not get it. Well, it looks like they were six ten team rather than the leaders of the NFC east. Definitely. And recoup nowhere to be found after just tearing it up last week. This was one of the most backwards games. I think I've ever seen just based off like you expect some players that just always break on how these stellar performances. Maybe not even to sell it. Just positive just helps the team out any way they can. But I like we said Ezekiel Elliott Amari Cooper Dak Prescott they didn't contribute as well as they they should have or they can. And I won't intercession. My Dak Prescott really showed. How this game was go and bottom line is the colts Slava chance to get in the playoffs..
