"Passing in another 7 rushing. That's gonna be hard to beat. Okay, fine, my MVP is Josh Allen. Offensive player for me is Cooper Cup. I think there's a bunch of people you can put in here, but for me it was Cooper Cup because he's on pace to shatter the most receptions in a year. He really is the only option in that offense. And people know that Matthew Stafford's going to throw him the ball, like 12 times a game, and he's still gets 11 or 12 receptions out of it. It seems to be unguardable and mcvay seems to know how to get him the ball. So for me, it's Cooper Cup. Yeah, he's like, they're only a target this year in that offense. My offensive player of the year to this point, I'm going with Lamar Jackson, the guy that I said was my runner up for MVP. I think I struggled to see at this point the ravens finishing first or second in the conference, which I believe when we did our awards predictions over the summer that was one of the prerequisites there was to finish first or second in the conference for almost every MVP. In the last 15 years, so if he can't win the MVP because the ravens aren't good enough, he's having such a good season that I expect to continue that I think he can win the offensive player award. Yeah, I agree. My mine is also Cooper Cup. Like Anthony said, he's on track to shatter the receiving record. I was looking at his stats, and I'm like, that can't be, right? He's got 42 receptions through four games. That's not possible, is it? He's got 54 targets at 42 receptions through four games. 400 like the artist is low for the amount of reception. It is because I think he was like fourth or 5th in yards, but the yardage looks weird, but dude, 42 receptions through fork and just blowing my mind. This off season was all like there's no way Cooper Cup puts up the numbers he put up last year and he's going to put up better numbers.

It's coming up later on in the show. All week. We've been focusing on the top ten players by position for the 2022 season. And it's the wide receiver's time to shine today. Our Jeremy Fowler is here with us, asked 50 league executives, coaches, scouts and players to rank the top ten whiteouts this season. Coming in at number one, well that's Devante Adams followed by Super Bowl 56 MVP Cooper Cup, but the player with the most receptions over the last 5 seasons is missing from the list. That's chargers receiver, Keenan Allen. So key, I'll start with you since you're our resident wide receiver. Do you agree with what these rankings look like? I mean, I don't really care about the way they rank them because I would move them around so many different ways, but the disappointing part for me is that debo Samuels on there and Keenan Allen so to speak is not. Now look, there's reasons for all the way NFL executives coaches and scouts are looking certain players from certain things. Debo Samuel certainly is a playmaker, but he is not a wide receiver. I had to go back and look at tyreek hill over the years to really see Tyree kill run receiver routes. He's been breaking corners down, busting their ankles and everything, deep off Samuels is a playmaker, shallow crosses, screams, things of that nature when you look at a guy like Keenan Allen, Keenan Allen is a quarterback's dream in the red zone and then obviously there's always nepotism in there, but my nephew's been hurt and he'll come back and he'll be fine. Well, Laura, it's the truth. How can you remove a guy who was offensive MVP just two seasons ago because of injuries and I understand that I get it at the end of the year, I think both of those guys will be in the top ten receivers in the National Football League. Yeah, so with Cain and Allen, he absolutely deserves to be in there, but it was close with DK Metcalf after I got all the polls in. I did a tie breaker and I reached out to some GMs or like you're crazy. It's Keenan Allen. You need to put him in. But over time, the more people I talk to said, look, scoring in the league is at a premium. It's all about who can get you 6 points in a hurry from anywhere on the field. They said DK Metcalf does that better when he's healthy better than just about anybody killing that kid and Allen can get open easier, but not as much of a scoring threat, not a guy that scares you as much as DK Metcalf. Yeah, so there's your explanation, Lou for that one, but if you're looking skeptical, what do you think? Whatever. You know, what's interesting here is look, I agree with the Keenan Allen aspect of it. Look, I understand drip with Jeremy's saying, but look Ken and I want to be on here because he's one of those guys who can score if he was used in that way in terms of volume and then getting down in the red area if they just decided to throw the football to him all the time. He would come up with the majority of the catches. The thing that's interesting to me here is look, even tyreek here at 5. Look, I think tyreek has made tremendous improvement in terms of his route running since he came into the league. To the point where now, not only is he the fastest guy playing football, Tyreke now is one of those guys who can beat you with his route running. And when you combine that with his speed, look, as a defensive back, speed like that makes me back up and speed like that is so unique that look, I'm looking here and as much as I love Cooper Cup as much as I love Cooper Cup if someone said for your life one on one you got to shut down Cooper Cup or tyreek, I'm going, can I please cover Cooper Cup? Please just give me, let me take my chances with him. That's why I think he should be higher. I get it on the Cooper Cup thing. Louis, I understand that, but the beauty of Cooper Cup is he's doing it, right? If those other guys on the rams or anybody that was in their camp can do a Cooper Cup was able to do, guess what? They'd have that roster spot. And when you look at the one on one matchups, it's all about skiing. It's all about Sean mcvay, lining him up in certain situations and getting the best matchup in him taking advantage of it. And you and I both know when we see it, we go, okay, yeah, we see what that is. That's a little tricky. They got him open, but guess what he does in the end. He catches it. There's something being done right to be one 45, 1900, and 16 touchdowns, big guy, right? Don't get me wrong. I would have paid Cooper Cup every dollar that they paid him and probably a little bit more. Because there's some things that really just aren't about his height weight and speed that he brings to the table that other guys can't on this list. They just can't. I'm with you. And look, these guys are all great. Yeah, because I taught a few players that said like, he's sort of treated now like he was coming out of the drab. Like, oh, maybe he's not that fast. He's not that quick. You get on the field with him. He is very deceptively fast. He is an elite athlete. Tyra kills one scout compared him to Steph Curry, the way he's red's the field like the three point shot. I thought that was fascinating. Yeah, we'll see how that looks in that Miami offense. This is a stat for keyshawn to start the show off, get him in a real good mood. A star wide receiver often leads to success in today's NFL 8 of the ten receivers on the list we just saw were on teams that made the playoffs last season. So it's all about the whiteouts, right, Keith. How about you? The way you're getting paid, Laura. There you go. Hey, we're only two days away from the Friday deadline to sign franchise tagged players to a long-term extension. So Jeremy take us through who we're watching for potential deals. Let's begin with cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz. Yeah, Laura, this one has a chance. Schultz would love to stay in Dallas. He really wants a deal by Friday. He's been probably a little disrespected that they haven't gotten farther in talks. I expect the cowboys to make a last ditch effort. It might come tomorrow. It might come Friday, and it might not even be enough. That franchise tag is just over $10 million. That's considered a bargain for a top ten tight end like schulz. And so the cowboys said they've talked a little bit about money and years. They just haven't gotten far enough. There's a big bridge right now. They have to gap in the final hours. Then we're going to turn the page here. Who we got, here we go. We got dolphins might just. So this one, maybe a lesser chance of getting done. He knows and from what I'm told, I tell somebody close to him that if he has to play on the tag, he's going to make a killing over the middle for the dolphins because they have tyreek hill. They have jaylen Walla. They can spread that field out. He might catch a hundred passes this year up his market in a major way. So they've talked, I've heard mixed reviews leaguewide talking to teams they don't they largely don't expect him to get a deal. Small chance, but we will see. Cincinnati Bengals, Jesse Bates, there's really not much optimism here, you know, I've asked around. I talked to a source of flat out said, no, when I asked, do you expect momentum to happen before Friday on a new deal? It just hasn't really gone well or gone anywhere. So this is a chance where he might sit out training camp. Bengals don't even really know when he's going to be there or if he's going to play week one. They're optimistic that he'll be there to show up to $12.9 million would be the tag on him for a really good player. Orlando Brown. This is one where the chiefs are sort of back into a corner. They have made clear to him and publicly. They want to get something done. They traded a lot for him last year. First round picking more to get him. He made a Pro Bowl, considered a top guy right now, but that market's going to be 23, $25 million a year. I mean, that money for high end tackles is really high. So there's going to have to come to grips of that by Friday. Are they comfortable with that kind of money? Right now, not a ton of optimism, but there's a chance here. The chiefs I'm told want to get this done. Yeah, and shouldn't it be about Patrick Mahomes being comfortable, right? And that little blind needs to make sure he's protected. And I would not be where to even start, you know? I think you would probably, my guess is if you're transferring to a packer's esque system, right? Because you've get seen in there. This offensive line's got to get taken care of. Like, no. You need some serious help there. I mean, your cornerbacks, you're gonna have some issues there. I mean, who's even your, I mean, you have jaylen Johnson, who else are you playing at corner? Right now. I mean, I mean, Robert quin is your best player. Like in the franchise. That's crazy..

"I don't get the sense that Rogers is that guy. I don't think he has that network, you know? Well, I think he has the network, obviously. But like, I don't know if guys are necessarily like, okay, I know what he does. You know, I've caught the ball, you know, I feel good about this. And so I don't know if it's that easy to just be like, oh, well, you know, maybe it's DK Metcalf or whoever it is, you know, I don't think it's that simple, you know? Puts a little crimp in there outlook here. I will say though, there's still just such a margin for error in that division. It's almost like you could do the old patriots things where it's like, you know, we have three months to figure this out. And then we got to start winning games. So we'll get to the postseason. Yeah. Alan Robinson goes to the rams, also the rams deal Robert Woods, the Titans here, but Ramsay the rams, I'm not a huge Alan Robinson guy. However, it does make sense, look, you have Cooper Cup is sort of your big slot type dude. Obviously they move him around. Odell was kind of the guy you brought in to be that kind of ex matchup problem guy you basically have to end up leaving in single coverage if you are going to double Cooper Cup. And Beck and play well, he still might be back there, but with the ACL tear, who knows what his timetable is for the start of next season. So Al Robinson fits the bill. I'm not a huge Allen Robinson believer. I think he is a very good player. I don't think he's necessarily like the superstar. He's been billed to be. But we'll see, this will obviously be by far the best offense he's been in, by far the best quarterback he's played with. And we'll see if this kind of takes off because the narrative with him is always sort of been like, well, you know, the quarterbacks he played with her so bad, and could you imagine if he ever played with someone good? Well, he's gonna, and he's been strictly a contested catch guy. I thought two years ago his contested catch rate was not quite good enough. I don't know what the actual rate was, but just anecdotally. I thought there were too many legitimate 50 50 balls that he didn't come down with. But, you know, silently it fits what the rams need as a compliment to Cooper cop here. Yeah, you know, I'm happy for Allen Robinson. I'm excited for Allen Robinson. I think to me, it shifts the dynamics a little bit. And I'm wondering if this is an evolution from Sean mcvay a little bit, right? Where you're almost removing the stereotypical, like Shanahan thought process there where it's like we have our we have our pace setter..

And the storylines here, the rams against the forty-niners for a third time this year with the rams, by the way, beat. Sorry, the forty-niners beat the rams two times this year. They beat them 31 to ten and they beat them in overtime to end the year week 18, so the rams could the forty-niners excuse me to get into the playoffs. So the rams haven't beat the 49 or so year now they get a chance to beat them at home to get into the Super Bowl and it's hard to beat a team three times in one year. That doesn't happen very often. Now, on the day, rams receiver Cooper Cup, I got to give him a shout out. I remember watching this guy at eastern Washington and I watched him alive in person and he was even more impressive in college than he is in the NFL like Cooper Cup was a guy that I remember, I used to work for networks and would film their games, and I remember going like, dude, this guy is different. He just head and shoulders above everybody else at that level in college football. And it's kind of weird. This was actually the first ever Pro Bowl for Cooper Cup. "I don't know, man. I just felt like they kept running plays and running into a wall and then punting. And there's just not a lot good to be said about Seattle. By the way, I see my neighbors these mother effers smoke every day and I just see puff clouds. We're not allowed to smoke here, and they just happily just love to, I'm looking through the window. I see it. I see the smoke. I don't like it. It fills this room. It's not fun. I hated so much. It's the worst thing about living here is the neighbors down below us. So aside from so here are the two things Matthew Stafford did. Why not write up having fun? Number one, he became the fastest player ever to get to 50,000 career passing yards. That's awesome. Number two, he threw a really bad interception. And so, hey, great record. That's awesome. I'm glad I'm part of why Matthew Stafford got to 50,000 faster than Tom Brady paid Manning is because he grew up in a different era of the NFL. He started playing and throwing the ball a ton immediately. Tom Brady's early years, they were just it was a different NFL than it is today and the one that Matthew Stafford found himself in. Now the bad interception, though, was something I want to hang on to. Every single game and the look Matthew Stafford does a ton of really, really good stuff. Like he's great at throwing the football. He's highly accurate. He can do stuff other quarterbacks can not do. But between Matthew Stafford and Carson Wentz, literally every game, those two guys find boneheaded, terrible throw, usually their intercepted often, it's like a play where there's a play early in the year where Matthew Stafford was like, whoo, I got lucky and he knew it too. Every game and I just worry that at some point the style of play, we see from Matthew Stafford, where about every game you see a risky throw that you're like, what the heck? What was that? That's not open. There's nothing there. I don't know what you're doing. I feel like that's going to catch up to LA at some point, although when you compare LA or Arizona, I think LA is a better football team that got better playmakers on defense and the rams and cardinals are both ten and four right now. If I had to pick one team that's more likely to make a deep play off run, it would be LA, but that Matthew Stafford thing where every game there's a throw that you're like, oh, what the heck was that? That's not open at all. Why are you throwing it there? I worry that at some point that's going to catch up with them. Also, by the way, let's talk about Cooper Cup Cooper Cup had 9 catches for a 136 yards and two touchdowns. The dude is amazing. It's also, by the way, year one with him and Matthew Stafford. But you looked at just the overwhelming offense of talent take the quarterbacks out of it and Brady last month hadn't been great take him out. Let's Brady come the playoffs going to be awesome with lesser grunk with Josh Gordon that still is not yet seemingly fully on the same page with Brady you look at what the saints have what the Rams have what the chiefs have what the Steelers have even and you say as far as talent.
