"Can you tell us can you. Can you tell us a ric flair story going out in nature and everything there anything you can legally tell us they want incriminate either of you. But he's still a good story Tucson times in a row. And i'm hoping we'll keep the streak alive this trip We have had a crazy incident with a cab driver and It involves a foul language and cursing and threats and that was not from rick odd But then it was and it was glorious. And i'm hoping that we can keep that going and happened last year in new york and happened the year before in la. So i'm pretty excited about coming into town today because there's a good chance i'm going to see a nineteen eighty five promo on a cabdriver or a car service sometime today or sometime tomorrow. Sounds like a like a big party Who like other wrestlers you've had them and you've you've hung out with them and yet you talk stories and stuff do you. Do you just like the old stories. What what what are you enjoyed about that. Yeah i enjoy I only read as a rule. Autobiographies I really enjoy Reading someone's story about how they were successful or what went wrong. And i really learn more from the wrong than we ever will from. You know you learn more from the losses. Different the victory so i really appreciate when someone can just be totally honest And sometimes shoot interviews and then books it goes through a filter of. They're trying to posture for someone or they're trying to work. They're trying to get over or whatever wrestling term. You wanna use but when you can get a real conversation with someone and there's no cameras and it's not being filmed and they're not having to perform you can get some real perspective And some real honesty that you might not normally get access to and that part fascinates me That's one of the reasons. I'm big fan of eric bischoff seemingly. He's one of the few guys who doesn't mind coming out and say oh man really wish i had that to do over again. I didn't handle that. Well not a lot of say that you know in wrestling. It's all about well. That guy was burying me or discussing. Sob or whatever. It's never just you know. Really holding yourself accountable. And being a man and saying coulda did that better But when you do get an opportunity to meet some of these guys and they're not having to feel like. I should be on to perform for the camera. You can get some of that and i think really helps explain the rest of the story as paul harvey would say yeah. I agree with you about this. A lot of people who don't take accountability or just trying to blame people or situations or anything in their times to them just like you know. Just just stand up and say he did it apologize. Tried to do better next time. Let's let's move on but for some reason that's a that's a very hard thing for some people to do and i don't know why. Yeah so that that's been you know. One of the real treats getting the full story in that perspective. Where you could say god. I wish i had that to do over again exactly so you were. Nwea charlotte fans fast. This year's been you've been a few years. Was there anything particularly enjoyed. While you're there you know every single year to me the real Draw for me is just meeting with my friends. I have a whole group of wrestling france from all over the country. Now that i pretty much only see there including your good friend. Bruce mitchell Bruce don't talk on a regular basis but that weekend we're pretty much inseparable and It's like we never. We never miss a beat. You know we just picked right back up. And so whether it's brian rodgers from south carolina or one for north carolina or bruce mitchell or david and alz from new york or russ miller from wisconsin or dan. Hancock from indiana. Or jeff you from vermont or super dave miller from mississippi. I mean people are just all over and they all converge right here for one weekend. And that's really the fun for me. You know photographs and autographs and all of that. That's cool Qna's and panels and you know the the hall of fame dinner the hall of heroes dinner. That's cool but what's really cool. Is this sense of camaraderie and community that you develop with these guys over the years and for just a you know a weekend you got a whole new set of best friends and Everybody kind of has the same common interest and that's wrestling. It's very much like a family reunion. where people get together and such and the i went on the next time but it was my first time so i didn't really know anybody and that was for me. The benefit of being able to do the cuban as was the then people would engage with me and i can talk wrestling with everybody and be a part of the family reunion aspect that you're talking about and that was probably agree with you. What am i. Probably the best part for me was actually being able to be apart and be involved in and be engaged. Everything really really enjoyed that but yeah definitely like a family reunion each and every year at. Nwea fantast yeah on a couple of you. I thought you did a great job. Actually saw you do some of the cuban panel before i had the pleasure of meeting you and of course not knowing who the person asking the questions is in your head you kinda grown a little bit. Like oh god. He's gonna you know. I remember that time. He wrestled stay. Like what a terrible who. I get that question. Why whenever rick. And i are hanging out and we're you know had a bar or something somebody will come up and say something ridiculous like hey remember that time. You wrestled stay like what's he going to say. No i forgot who is that. What do i mean. It's just silly. So i expect you don't know what to expect for the interview and that was not the case if you It was it was awesome to that are faced with the name and be able to see you do your thing because i feel like there's nobody better at doing those and i hope you continue to do. Well thank you it really. That's that's very high. Praise coming from me. I appreciate ida. I had a great time as you know it was all last minute and i. I didn't have a chance to prepare but it was a it was a great time. 'cause everybody could not have been nicer and i found it hard to believe that when people told me that That usually the cue as were never strong like someone told me one year. Someone had like berry telling aren't up on the stage and the guy goes. What title have you all held. And i guess there was sort of like a collective groan in the crowd and at that point. Telly blanchard with them. Why don't you just start asking Go to the crops or for questions because they know what titles we have and it seems like they would have better questions than you are asking us right now so considering all of the the the the knowledgeable fans that are there i was. I was surprised by that. But but the outboard is support and praise really nice. So thank you. Thank.

"Memories from years past i was a big fan In eighty nine ninety ninety one and those are my My big summer slam memories I remember you know kind of being what it is as an adult. It doesn't end up as well but as the whole thing with no holds barred tie in from the movie was phenomenal And they and. I really enjoyed that. I i wasn't ulta or your fan. Loved the big blue cage match with ravishing rick rude Thought they did a really good job with earthly hoping that the time and then of course ninety one rolled around. I think the match everybody talks about happened right here in new york city. And that was mr perfect and brad heart and that to me made me a fan of both gosh whereas beforehand were kinda after thought so they weren't really what i was tuning into c They got my attention. That might not only that i. I look at it as a lot of people. talk about. Savage steamboat at wrestlemania. Three as the first great wrestlemainia match. And i think that hogan perfect match was probably the first truly great summer slam match. And really you know ric flair yeah really elevated network player and really elevated heart and bernhardt was still really cool there and he was like james dean or something before he came overly whiny and overly got an whatever he is but he was still i look. I watched that last night. And i was just thinking to myself man but flair are bret. Hart was really really cool when you just kinda i dunno. Sometimes the more he talked to west cool he became. But yeah i seven. I think his work seven is second to nine. Yeah i agree with you i i. I agree with you on that Many of their favorites aside from from the obvious ric flair Yes whereas performers absolutely I grew up a huge terry fox. Fan even have more appreciation for now. Obviously dusty rhodes I don't know that you could have been a kid in the eighties and not been a big hole. Cogan or macho man saying But they were up there as well so You know it's kind of a a routine answer but macho man hulk hogan terry funk dusty roads and h so for those of you who are listening to this for those people who listen to the show and probably want to know how did you. How did you meet ric flair appearance and two thousand thirteen and we hit it off and traded numbers and I'll have people still think he lives in charlotte but actually lives in atlanta. Which is too terribly for from huntsville. So i i learned. The most of his friends are actually ensure handful friends there in atlanta. Most of his friends were still in charlotte but he was dating. See the french french-made and she's you know with their kids in atlanta so he's there So it was just convenient for us to hang out with a couple of hours away so You know go over this place. Watch football with my house and watch football same. Same all just regular guy stuff and before you know. It hit an offer to do podcasts. And they advertise mortgage business on the radio. And i would be a good person to help him kind of keep the conversation going and get comfortable. I first episode. So that was the plan He liked it. Cbs liked it. So we kept going for guy if you ever done. Radio jude in college or anything. We did no sir i. i'm completely amateur hour. Have no background or training or skills or nothing as a as twenty plus years in the broadcasting and radio and stuff you really nice job is small for a guy no background you keep things moving you give everything seemingly you know. The right amount of time was something important. You go deeper if it's not you you try to move things along. I think you do a very nice job. I appreciate that and I don't know that your chance to check it out. But i think the best podcast for wrestling. There are people who are listening to this and that includes me new Is the new something to wrestle with. Richard it's on the immel w radio network. It comes out on. Fridays at noon And we've had three episodes so far. The brand new episode of that just came up. Yesterday was about the nineteen ninety lex express situation. What happened well supposed to happen. What almost happened. What didn't happen. is all discussed in great detail a week ago. We talked about The macho man and hulk hogan and how the mega powers exploded between wrestlemania. Four and five and then ask the question that everybody wants to know about macho man and his departure from wwe and then two weeks ago we covered when dusty rhodes. I left jim crockett promotions and went to new york in nineteen eighty nine. What was that about. How did he work out with Events how did he leave. What was a real. What wasn't a rib. Whichever all that in. Great detail So if ric flair show. Maybe isn't your cup of tea. Checkout something wrestle. With on fridays. On the immel w radio network. I think you do a nice job with that. I mean was richard. You don't get to be at the top of wwe and Vinci's right hand man for as long as he was without being very judicious in your answer. Shall we say. And i think you're very good at trying to pin him down and try to get more out of times that he might be playing to To give. I think he'd be very very nice. Job there with with bruce With burs yeah. It was richard. I think i mentioned see when you when you ever get a chance Ask him about. Lloyd lee who He lived with hidden tom when they were. Oh yeah in california Lloyd is a personal friend of mine. And i mentioned this to you in charlotte that We were we just happened. To go to the tacoma show night that they had the big. Wcw main event the infamous. Buff bagwell booker. T. match and we just by chance. We're gonna go see him just for loyd full-time sake to go see his friend and we ended up with the wrestling history on accident but Bruce could not have been nicer and Yeah what a really great guy but yeah. He's old california days with with tom. And yeah bruce and everything so yeah lawyers lee who lives in portland now. He might be. He might be listening but he's a guy that goes way back way back with the very cool story. Yeah and by the way. I'd love to have Roussin john if you could make that happen that would be. That would be great. I'd love to love to talk to him but he's anyone to talk about texas and california wrestling. You didn't seem to hip on that. This might be outlet to to make him happy and then to help your show as well so something. He was just f- why he was only doing that to elicit a response from me and he got one. I'm interested in in every bit of history that he wants to talk about but We have a good natured. Ribbing about us he thinks that You know everything that came out of. W was hot garbage and as a fan. I disagree So just naturally since. He doesn't like what i like. I don't like what he likes and that's houston wrestling. So i it. Every chance i get i take a dump on houston wrestling. I'm paul bausch. He's a young man. How dear dear and that's that's versus cinema. Bruce was really good friends with him that under his learning tree and i pay got in the business and there's a lot of respect there so when he You know wasn't so polite and it wasn't so kind with my ac memories. I had no problems stopping on his feelings..

"For a lot of things in wrestling that people don't really give him credit for And he should be you know. I hope that history remembers him better than it seems as if it has for. That's fair so it sounds to me. I'm i'm a little surprised talking to. You can sounds to me like you're more. You grew up watching more the wwe abc w product and kind of new release products. "Wrestlemanias. A the cowboys stadium from just from a fan's perspective. I you probably have me talk about it. When i went to wrestlemainia at safeco field where the mariners play. I just older jaded now. I didn't find it to be as as great of an experience as a fan. As i as i wanted. Maybe give really close seats. It would be great but I don't know sometimes things get too big. Well you can say the same thing about going to a football game. I have season tickets for alabama. And i find myself debating on around the thursday each home game. I don't know this. I just wanna wanna go to give the tickets away for the exact reason you just described. You know you can sit home and watch television. You know huge types of your whole all or you can fight the traffic and fight the crowds and not get instant replay and blah blah blah. You know the television experience. It's really changed the way people feel about these things. The only thing the only reason. I think you wrestlemania now. And you know maybe the nosebleed seats so far away is just so you can feel it and just so you can say that you were there Because outside of that you can't be the perspective we get on the network. So i i met you a couple of weeks ago in charlotte fan fast. And you said you'd mentioned when we have the. I don't know if anyone can hear 'cause they're awful technical problems but You've been a fan since Wrestlemainia four the tournament title tournament. Yeah that's my first wrestling memory for sure Nine hundred ninety eight. It was a vhs. When i saw it wasn't a pay per view it was a to tape sets. I remember that very well. You open it up and he pop up there there you go so i had to bug after that and i think what a lot of fans You know fell out of it for a while and then you kinda come back and then you fall out of it for a while when you come back or at least that's what it was like for me worked What period did was up to you. Becky and when did you get back into. I got out and Ninety two and i'll slipping through the channels In ninety six. And i saw the blackbeard wearing all black and pause. And hey what is this about So that got me to pay attention. And before i knew it had discovered what he she w was and i was watching her all and saul cactus jack wearing a mask and shoving his fingers down people's mouth i was back in. It was pretty exciting style. Because i think a lot of fans you know You know who are older at the time were frustrated because wwe was so focused still on on children and still sort of had a rock and wrestling connection by and then suddenly you had this much more mature product which is really what the fans were really craving and really clamoring for and and i think the the gate receipts proved that you'd be exactly right and i don't think eric bischoff gets enough credit. I think history has been unkind to him but he really did change.

"Guaranteed forty bucks at least in value. By the way. I wanna mention conroy thompson. Coming up in just a few also also also also coming up next week a guy. I'm super excited to have been trying for a long time to get him on the show. This superstar bill dundee is going to be on the show. He booked of course known with with memphis. You know him through memphis also through some of the wcw stuff. But when mid south was on fire and all the great stuff happening amid south. Jim cornell and the midnights and the rock and roll and magnum. Ta and all of that stuff. The last stampede and everything bill dundee was booking all of that stuff so we wanted to talk midsouth for awhile and bill dundee and talking about memphis. We can talk about everything. I am so excited. I could not be happy. When i had a bucket list of the people that i wanna talk. Old school wrestling with bill. Dundee is way up there also the week after jeanie clarke stone. Cold steve austin's ex wife Lady blossom from wcw also from from texas wrestling Relationship with chris adams once married to billy. Jack haynes a lovely lovely woman just a nice woman. She's gonna be the week after so we've got some great stuff coming up here all the live gas with the gym valley saturday morning wrestling and You know we can. We can run the gamut whatever. Your memories are like the talk here on saturday morning. Like it's just like wwe mania could be like a a much lamer. Todd pettingill and that my friends is really really good. Hey joining us on this show now rick. Flair has made a lot of people in his career whether it says triple h or sting and now he's made somebody on the podcast scene from the original wound nation. It has now morphed into changed locations. But it's the same great people on the m. l. w. radio. It's now the the rick flair show but joining us. now i assume from from huntsville alabama. Maybe summer slam. I don't even know where he is this morning joining us ric flair host conrad thompson. Hey tom what's going on man. Hey how's it going man. How are you gonna. Where are you at this morning. I am in battery park new york. It's just over the bridge so you are getting ready for summer slam. Yes sir looking forward to it and watch the fights. And i don't wanna miss usc but tomorrow it is all about summer slam so you obviously. How long have you been going to these. The these events With with lan such in the at the level you're at now. I don't know i don't know how to describe it. You know what i'm saying is more than just buying a ticket only be. How long have you been doing this. we've been good friends since two thousand thirteen so I guess you know three three years or so. So i guess i guess the reason that i'm asking is how would you compare summer slam to to the other events when you're when you're going in the capacity you are now Well i don't know what in the capacity means that's -sarily lee It's pretty much some of the some of the special events and things and just the the different vip's and things are. It's seems to me like wwe's is trying to trying to build up summer slam as as a big weekend. And i would imagine you've probably seen some of the growth in some of the changes that they've made now you you'd be exactly correct there This'll be my third summer slam The the first one i went to was in. La and It was the backstage area. There were more celebrities back. There were out front of the camera. So that was a little shocking. But i guess you know so. That's where most of the television and movies that we can sit him in america. Come from Maybe that made sense but they were telling them tons of celebrities. There you know from john jones to save dog to run the rowzee rowzee to david arquette and espn folks just A whole you know smorgasbord celebrity That was not necessarily the case at summer slam last year. But a lot of the new japan guys for there hanging out and that was kinda cool to see But i don't. I don't know what to expect tomorrow but i do know that brooklyn has been transformed. It is all about the wwe there. They have events planned every hour on the hour somewhere And then somebody independent. Promotions tagged on there as well. Of course cody rhodes making his debut outside of the. Wwe this weekend as well so if you're wrestling fan it's the second biggest weekend of the year. Is there a different bind versus go into to wrestlemainia or maybe the beef show type of paper view. Oh for sure. It's much bigger than all of these shows. you know it's bigger than everything except wrestlemania and the only thing that really makes it different from wrestlemanias you know. Like for instance this year. You half of the appeal for a lot of folks half a considerable amount of the appeal was the stadium. And you know just the size the size of the venue And you know lends itself to making it feel like a big deal And i think this is. I don't think this is even debatable. Summer slam is twice as good of a card as what we got wrestlemainia. But it's going to be in the barclay center and so it is a beautiful Arena but it's not nearly you know the cowboys stadium. Check out our new 2021 torch vip podcast lineup including everything with rich fan hosted by wade..

I think we stay on topic. And who my gosh. What a concept for for a shoot style interview. We actually ask. Follow up questions. Who know oh who knew that you can actually ask a follow up question to shoot at our view as opposed to just throwing so you work portland. What was portland like so you were. Dallas was dallas like well. We're the vom eric's like oh you didn't work with him on eric's some shoot interviews. Just just fricken little some of those. Some of them are fun. So we're good man. Some of 'em you just you just wanna scream. Hopefully these will not make you wanna scream and happy. I think i think they're very good. Is good stuff. Yes you see cavalcade for joining me today on the shelf. Here's the man according to ric flair a host of a brand new ric flair show on m. l. w. radio here's also the Former host of nation which was on another network basically same show new name new place conrad thompson. He's going to be joining us on the show in just a little bit to talk about what it's like to Niche and live the life that he lived suitable and more also talks some wrassling and how he got into wrestling. We'll talk some some old school wrestling with him. And with you here on the the big show i generally Did joined by conrad coming up being about a half hour or so. I would like to bounce some stuff off of you as i as i tweeted out. I would love to talk some summer slam. Today it's summer slam weekend gearing up for the biggest party of the summer of the hottest show of the summer. The being hot i whatever they call it summer slam. It's a tradition of. It's going on for for twenty eight years now. I believe if i can do my math correctly and not only that but You know to bit now. They're trying to turn it into another wrestlemainia type event at the annex t stuff and the three day weekend stuff. They tried to do a concert but apparently no one else likes. Slow writer as much as vincent man does. Why a consequence low rider but with kid rock. Busy busy busy was raleigh frame morning. A state fair can that's really gold reference but still you get the idea anyway Summer slide. I wanna to talk about. I mean she's been around for so long. There's so many memories and so many matches. I want to talk about some of your earliest memories of summer slam as we talk some old school wrassling here this morning so a dial hello brother out. You can colon Anytime six four six seven to one ninety two eight. What i do want to talk about is nwea lions The video on demand greg. Rice apparently was sick last week. And he's put up some clips of Me with jeanie clark. You can go see also jim. Ross and tony shabani. And he's got a sale happening right now at. Nwea legends dot com. Doesn't do dvd's anymore. Because dvd's just don't really sell so it's all video-on-demand it's all live streaming and much like other streaming services you pay once and you get the stream it forever until the planet blows up so you can check that out right now and be a part of that here on Wwl legends dot com. If you like. I certainly think it's very good work. I think you should check it out. I think it's a lot of fun and a lot of good stuff so please please do so you can go to. Nwea legends dot com. There's interviews obviously with Myself and judy. Clark there's Interviews this one. Obviously everyone's talking about tony shabani. Where he is. Just hilarious is so so funny. And so great with so many great quips. Somebody great punchline so many legendary stories that he'll surprise it'll blow your mind that that's tony shivani. We've talked about that alster. Neidl is amazing. Because there's so many things and even though i did an hour with him a couple of weeks ago here on saturday morning wrestling He talks about stuff. We didn't get to cover around saturday morning wrestling in depth with his plane crash and his very early career. You know he. And i you know one of the things you have to do with interviews and i was able to successfully do often in my career not always but often is you earn a level of trust or people trust you that you're going to take care of them. You're not going to misquote them. You're not gonna leave them down the wrong path. You're not going to encourage them to do something embarrassing. Things things things like that. So Austin idol and i think they have reached level of trust and we worked really well together so i think that's a very good win. Gorgeous jimmy garvin was great We're boyer animal was in his element talking about a lot of great stories and just being a tremendous storyteller. So that's something to check out and be a part of so you know Mickie james if you're fan of of mickie james and that was one of the things that surprised me i just. I didn't know exactly how popular mickie james was. I knew she was popular. But she's at a completely different level. That i even realized so if you love the mickie james and apparently she's super popular Check out mickey james there. She did a great job. "Four eight six four eight six four. Thanks for calling. What if you got her first. State your name and where you calling from corbin from lakeland. Florida corden thanks for calling. You're on with matt morgan. Thanks for taking my call him a first time where i really appreciate you calling. Thanks my question. And that is About dean ambrose like what is your opinion of him. Do you think like what it takes to be the guy like if he booked correct elitist up and everything like that. I know he's definitely been the subject of a lot of discussions lately. Yeah i i don't physically looking at him. I just have a i just got done saying how like the new era guys. I totally get I like the account. I understand that the majority of them are quote unquote considered undersized versus the stars it yesterday to a degree deems. He doesn't have much muscle on him. He doesn't stick out like when he he walked into a room. Okay i don't think i six year olds gonna get him confused with a fighter or or a respirator. Time soon right if they don't watch wrestling but say But that said i think he's one of my favorite to watch ironically because his promos because of his character because he's just flows and he's all over the place. I love this podcast with stone. Cold a hotel honest. he was There was a couple times. They got uncomfortable Can i liked that. He's true to himself I think if more people could do that the better deputy would be But that takes knowing who you are you know it really does. And he definitely doesn't know that. And i think he's still growling at I'm just. I'm very entertained by a little bit of his innovativeness in the rings for sure but Like what he wears the ring and stuff like that. I'm not exactly dwelled with but I don't know i'm kind of. I'm kind of like fifty fifty. You know i really well. His promos of his persona his character but You know the physical aspect of it. I'm just a little bit more to be desired. Heavyweight champion of the world you know debuted in the shield he was kinda covered up this physique and And then because. I don't think he had a wwe look to him at that point. And i thought he's got himself into phenomenal shape. But not the type of of a shape when you look at somebody like Brock listener and think. Oh well you can compete against him. That's where the sales pitch for dean was to be really scrappy and innovative. Use weapons. What did you think of dean in that interview. Calling brock leser lazy and maybe speak. Maybe maybe speak to an example of and you could have been on either side of this conversation where there's a match coming up a big match. It's tv pay per view. Or even maybe it's just a house show spot show where wrestlers one very senior and higher paid than the other perhaps had a different idea of what to match. And how uncomfortable does that get because deem certainly made it sound like. He's still carried around some resentment. That brockton wanna do more things that he had in mind that he was excited to try. Oh god i mean how much time do you have. i mean. that's that's happens so frequent. That happens all the time And it's generally with guys. That are a lot older than what brock is right now. Usually the guys like doing. Let's say you're doing in show. It'll happen on that it'll happen. I mean the w. When i was there i was lucky to work with guys that wanted to always work including bra. Brock really wanted to work But that was a different time. You know he's this humongous he a star them but he's even bigger obviously today and I mean i could see not wanting to do much just because they do all that much. You know what's really there to discuss out there. I'm gonna suplex fifty times. I'm going to be in the end with all over the place. I'm going to give shine in here. I'm gonna give you a bit of a comeback here. There's not really much to discuss. I could see that side but then you look at it from deans. You know perspective. Like i wanna be the guy around here in order for me to be the guy. I've gotta turn out a top flight match. Here's my opportunity at wrestle frigging mania versus broccoli and with no one's giving me shake fair shake in this you know so he wants to go out there and obviosuly light it on fire which i totally respect in it buyer That's a tough spot to being because all you can do is go to the office with that whether you like a student or not so be it. That's your job and your livelihood on the line and you're associated with that match. If that did they turned in a match sucks. You couldn't even imagine how pissed off dean would have been and how hurt and frustrated. That would've been knowing that. I didn't even have a say in this. You know i try to go out there and do all these different things. He doesn't wanna do anything there. I tried to do stuff with them. I try to work through it. I came to you guys with none of you. Did anything about it. What am i supposed to do here. Meanwhile let's say it doesn't happen becomes the champion now and they go back to a roman or staff again and now. He's down the middle of the cardigan toward the upper end of it. But still you know. So he's very lucky they were able to turn up somewhat of a good match that they did with dealing with that. Yeah yeah but it could've been a lot worse I i mean that's a shame to hear that you know because sprouted i worked with was not like that. She wanted to do a lot and he was. He would teach us he was doing it. We in the middle of matches he'd be sitting in the middle of the heat. Getting rally and telling me this is why i'm doing this. This is how you do this and yell things like that. He's like you see me coming up my feet folk. No excuse my language. You know 'cause i i would come off my feet trying to you know. Give that the babies as some type of shine out there because we had such a massive team. Nobody was coming off too dmc and i thought i thought the crowd needed to see that at the absolute apex of a babies as has come back. You know but you know my point is he was extremely passionate so i don't know what happened is there another example comes to mind where maybe tna somebody came up to you to work out a match and the circumstances of you is it. Is it uncomfortable or just sort of common to turn down ideas. Somebody else brings to the table for what to do in a match. I mean to me. It's sort of like if you go to a restaurant and you pick out one appetizer in one meal..

He used to be the bottle on him. We're gonna come. We get in there to be a preacher. It is yes. It is a gym like a basketball gym like the biggest room. You can have in a rural area. Literally the biggest building in fucking corbin. He has set up five hundred chairs on the floor and there are four people that you'll have that and he has a disco ball. It's on all the lights are on this disco ball with like the colored glasses just spinning. There's a band. The band plays to songs. Then they leave so now. It's just the comics in these four people who clearly hate. Paul paid him but they came to watch him fail. They came to watch him fail and accused him of stealing. One of them was accused of. That's my line but it we're semi. I start taking notes like when they get out of it is. I got a bit that i did at the open. Mics about the night for the next two weeks derek. Dennis gets up there and just starts berating. The people there for being there. That's what you do. It is small crowd. You don't take them for being there you go. Why the fuck aren't y'all honored people there and does all her jokes about sucking dick and jacquet hate it hate it and then i'm closing it out you know and I just stand up on a table and new comedy to their fucking faces. What and then we start reviewing our new phones that we were able to take videos and stuff on. Dj just was like look this wreck. The goddamn room turned everything on top of itself. And i was like we gotta get fuck out of here and dj was. And so i was like oh. We'll get the car and he goes. Get your jacket. And i was like. That ain't my fucking jacket. He goes wearing all last night. Now i'm gonna get this jacket and i look. It's a goddamn tom. Ford pay code. I'm made it looked it up on the internet. It was seven hundred dollars. You know like when they brought in for the the toronto sorts tyrannosaurus. I don't fly only performance wrecks in jurassic park after all the fucking boo boo with the fucking water and ripples and shit and the goat and the goat leg and all. That shit happened all that tension built up and walked out and it was fucking pankin blue with feathers on like check. And that would hit for you. That's been all right. I'd name a big remember. Cleveland other tyrannosaurs. That it's better. I'm acknowledging that they apparently did have feathers but if you look at fucking scientists representations of like what a velociraptor actually looked like with all the feathers and shit. It's like a jumped up chicken and that ain't it like compared to like like like skiing like litter skiing. Dj's front yard. Yeah right yeah exactly. Yeah man it is trey does it. What do you think what do you think about that. Conrad i said it'd be interesting black. Jesus in the south and getting over yeah say depends on what part of the south. Yeah this is critical. "Yeah let's get back to the podcast ski. I'm not going to deny it. But but i'm saying that it's so if i'm saying growing up in tennessee you're taught. This is a state or we volunteer. Waste step up. Yeah that's what we are taught dealt. But but but so. That's my point is like i feel like what we're told is like that's what we're doing this state. We step answer the call. That's what volunteer remains and some people are saying. It's like yeah. The origin of it was people volunteering to help texas to fight a war against mexico the cell they vanish though they could keep having slave that. So it's like so that's the origin of it which means that's fucked up but mile thing has been like but that that that's not the homing that's not the meaning of that word and i could tell you as a kid who guna get into. What the patriots do. He's a kid who tennessee. You're not that's not what the word means anymore. Might be the origin of it. But that's not what it means anymore. And so it's like you know i don't know what do you make. It could go down. That line will see. I'm saying i think there has to be a line that's drawn and that line should be volunteer from chico. Onstage in new york feel works at a bit. When that i was going being brought up where he was like okay. Instead of the redskins the indians. Why don't we change the vikings and the cowboys. 'cause i it's murdered everybody into wide at least but isn't i mean. Isn't that kind of braiding murder. No dude i agree with you. In the spartans earlier martin's fucking murder their own babies and thorough market buck live. I'll bring it out a little bit. Further to get kind of more personal to us is when. I see people when when we're promoting shows and i'm going to be in birmingham. Hey we're gonna be in atlanta and people were like really yard and shows in georgia right now. Really you're doing shows in alabama right now. It is spoken stupid. But let's pull it back a little bit and kind of go with what you're saying about the vikings and shit they're like i can't believe y'all would support. Do you know what georgia did bob on. I'm like okay. They're both in america. America's done all this shit uram saying like at. What fucking point do we have to just like not do shows in america because america is the is the fuck. That's a state in. America at georgia is no more fucked up than the fucking the Some of the parts or whatever the fuck is all. I'm saying. But i think you because you're a sweetheart you react to some of that stuff in a way where you like are giving people the benefit of the doubt and also like. I think you have this chip on your shoulder slash whatever about like you know. Oh look man. Those people are fucking dumb. Tell him the focus. Here's why if a native american guys saying. I brought kids at this baseball game and that shit. That all made him sad. That's legit issue where you have to explain to your kid..

"Love that she No the thing i made up ain't real at all those what your question was like you and i don't really think the washington football team is a weak ass fucking name though it's funny to ask. It is funny. And i agree with you. That guys name but like a saas deal. It shouldn't be the redskins. The soccer thing right feels like michael scott named it would ask you what you think about like all the guardians and the cleveland indians now. The cleveland guardians. And that whole thing. Because i with the football team i'm not. I'm not a fan of any. Nfc staying right but to me. I think it's funny. It's funny to me so like so for me. Somebody's not has no investment in that division at all or whatever i hope they leave it that way i continued to find it humor of sore saying it's a great name but then today literally today. The cleveland indians changed. Her name to the cleveland guardians. Because there's a bridge in cleveland that lead straight to the stadium and it has statues on it of these where all the browns fans jump off and tears. These big old roman warrior looking guys in. Those guys are called the guardians. Now the cleveland guardians. And i'm just wondering conrad how you feel about all that heffer. you like. If something offends anybody why do we have to have it. But it's a team name who gives us it gives us you. Who cares the the fan of that team and if it is. That's week at the same time. Though i mean i do feel bad for like jerry. Lawler who we know has literally every piece of indian material. There is every jersey and every half. Isn't it just a habit next season. Don't fuck with that guy in a famous alive and he spent forty dollars on that shit. Let him rocket right right. No i understand that. And that's like. I mean you know i'm not gonna act like if someone didn't give me a full bird confederate uniform that i wouldn't like kinda wanna hang up on stage. You got damn right. I would like shit like that can be cool especially now. It's like hey they don't do this anymore. So this is kind of like vintage as long as you're not like i don't know celebrating it like it'd be. I let me give you an example when the painted over the generally that was some bullshit. Tv show we grew up on but at the same time. I was a little redneck. Kid grit watching the show. And i didn't think anybody was offended by it. And so i didn't fucking no better right. I had that car right. Fucking painting the roof. This is this is what was back of course but at the same time. Like if you watch that show and if you're a fan of that show and you wanna act like the reason that you were a fan of that show was solely because that's bullshit that's all i'm saying that's bullshit and if you're an amazon indians fan and name only like i was telling you guys earlier like if the fucking if they decided to change the titans name tomorrow yeah. It wouldn't hit for mainly because it would. There's no reason like it's not like titans of so that's the oilers but okay there you go. Everybody was like whatever they're going to nashville their changes you. If the titans changed their name. Tomorrow i would. It wouldn't hit for me because that'd be like i know him as the titans but i'd be over in a day and then i'd be like go fucking whatever like that. I'm not in it for the god. nerdy things we have in common

"Hello time. and welcome to the covert podcast. Today we'll be talking about focusing on the things we have in common then wrestling podcast. I know you will love. Lastly, we'll take a look at a comic book that takes a dark twist on the biblical flood. So let's get started. From two thousand ten to twenty thirteen. I went to San Diego Comecon for those who no, I is the biggest con in America and maybe even in the world, I'm not exactly sure. However, it has an incredible amount of people that attend over one hundred and twenty five thousand people come to the con- and the all have the same passion for all things nerdy for one person. It might be the passion for superman for another. It might be an obsession with the twilight movies. Many of these people would sit for days in line to tend to panel for their favorite TV show or movie. The camaraderie was thick, and that's the case with most cons. We all have a commonality about what we nerd out about. Do I agree with all of them on social issues like abortion, no. Do I agree with them on political issues like Republican versus democrat? No, I agree with them on getting together and earning out about the lake. Marvel story arc, yeah, for some of them I do. So instead of name calling and insulting each other about the things we disagree on, why not focus on what we do agree on, find common ground and invest time in that, and you might be shocked at the other things you will find you do agree on. This allows both parties to listen to each other before the walls come up because now we're comfortable with each other on the things we have in common, and we like to nerd out about in today's era of polarization we seem to spend more time focusing on things we disagree on might just be one little thing instead of the things we have in common so much so that we won't even spend holidays like thanksgiving together because of those things we disagree about over at not your pastors podcast. They were talking about Christians being divisive about their political views so much so that members witness OSI it with with each other. Now you would think out of all the people Christians could unite regardless of political views. I'm sure I interact with many people who don't have the same worldview as I do not just at cons. I'm sure you do too. It doesn't matter because as long as we try to stay focused on the one or two things we have in common, whether it's fishing or baseball, or coin collecting football or podcasting, whatever it is focused on those things and spend time together doing those things that you have in common and the things you disagree on. Won't matter as much. Talk about the things you have in common. Tell stories about the things you have in common expound on what you have in common and nerd it up. Make your commonalities bigger than your differences. All the sudden you're differences. Don't seem so big compared to the size of the things that you have in common the impact you can have on other people. When you have a common focus can be huge. Use the nerdy things you like to unite instead of divide each other. For example. Maybe as a kid, you collected masters of the universe figures. Talk about that. Talk about the figures you had. Maybe the other person likes the same figures you had when you were a kid, maybe they had some of the same excess review did like castle gray scholar, snake mountain, or maybe they did different things to modify their figures that you might think are cool or maybe you did the modifications, whatever it is, talk about those things and tell about when I got this figure for Christmas, I was so excited or I got this figure at a clearance sale at stores and picked it up for only two dollars. Talk about those stories together. You'd be surprised at how well you can mash in connect with the person when you have that commonality so that when the differences come up, maybe it won't be so divisive because you'll be focusing on some of the things that you have in common with that person. Now, on a similar note, I read recently about people using dungeons and dragons to help kids with autism and social anxiety. People living with autism spectrum disorder, experienced challenges with communication. So social action, and sometimes they display restrictive and re repetitive behavior. Organizations like game to grow us tabletop role playing games to help teens, adolescence and emerging adults become more confident, creative and socially capable. The inherent benefits of tabletop role playing games are numerous and become even more beneficial. If intentionally facilitated by professional the games, encourage communication and team building in the fun safe environment. Now, Dr. Raphael Baca moslo I probably mispronounced the name. So I'm sorry in advance. The clinical director of take this uses DVD to help teens who are struggling to daft solid social skills. They learned those tough to teach aspects of socializing, like procreate communication, forming friendships, empathy, and other social nuances. As you can see unity in something like tabletop gaming, like dean D. Is being used to help those people in difficult places. In this situation, it helps others relax open up about what they're struggling with in the process. They inadvertently learn new skills on clued links to the game to grow organization and the take this group in the show notes. So please go to covert ner dot net to find out exactly what they're doing. You can see some of the pictures read about some of the gaming setups that they have and maybe participate in what they're doing in your local community. I found that and thought it was something that I needed to share because it's something taking something nerdy something we have in common and using it to help others. Now it's time to do some podcast recommending if you like wrestling in the eighties and nineties, like I did, you'll love the podcast something to wrestle with Bruce Prichard. It's hosted by Bruce pressured, also known as brother love in the WWF back in the late eighties, early nineties and superfan Conrad Thompson. As I mentioned, I was a big WWF fan from about eighty seven to ninety three. It's great podcasts because you can revisit those old storylines if that's the timeframe you liked. Now, I should preface Bruce Richard was involved from, I believe, eighty seven. So after wrestlemainia three and was off and on with WWF until I think two thousand three or two thousand four. So he covers a pretty big, broad span, broad span of time. Not just the time I'm talking about. So if you watched wrestling from the late eighties to early two, thousands, he has some firsthand accounts of what was going on. On behind the scenes and he's a fantastic storyteller. His impersonations of Vince McMahon are priceless. That's almost worth listening to the podcast alone to hear him to his impersonation of inst- McMahon, the popularity of this podcast skyrocketed so much. They have hundreds of thousands of downloads per episode. I highly recommend it for any race wrestling fan. They highlight wrestlers. They highlight some of the paper views the highlight some frames, so it's great. Just go check it out. They have a big archive that you can go back to. Sometimes they'll just fire up an old survivor series from say, nineteen Ninety-seven just watch it together and you can hear their commentary as they're watching the event. Lots of Riecke simply search in your podcast app for something to wrestle and you will find it and I'll put a link in the show. No, so you can find it easier as well. I wanted to mention a comic book that just read literally a few days ago called dark arc. It's by aftershocks comics. It is an excellent. Book and I'll just read the solicit here and you can hear exactly what it's about. The wickedness of mankind has moved the creator to destroy the world by way of the flood. Noah has been tasked with building an art to save his family in the animals of the world, but this is not. Noah story for darker powers have commanded the source or SRI to build his own arc and save the unnatural creatures of the world such as bam, Pires dragons, Nagara and the Mana core. But what will happen on a vessel crawling with monsters where insidious intrigue and horrific violence are the rule of law from the writer Colin Bunn who did X men blue deadpool envenom in artist, one DOE American monster world reader comes a sinister tale of biblical proportions that had to be told at aftershocks comics. Like I said, I've read issues one through five, five is what they're up to as of this recording. And I think the concept is fantastic. The storytelling is compelling, the artist. Great. Callin does a good job of keeping the story moving along at a good pace. However, he threw. Goes out a few bread crumbs of possible ways. He might take the story in later issues just enough to keep you reading and wondering what is going to happen happen next at issue five, the rain stops. Now I assume this would be a limited series run at first thinking about it. When I mean is you're probably not going to see this, go to issue three hundred, four hundred like some other titles do I could be wrong. They could go ahead and take the story after the land or excuse me after the water subsides and they can get back out on land and maybe show the interaction with the unnatural creatures with the humans on this new world that they came upon after the flood. I don't know, but I think it's definitely worth the time for you to pick this one up and check it out on clued. Lincoln the show notes to where you can read more about it and look at some of the art.
