"Going for brain point. Well, the reality of it is Britain points not going to be available. Okay, that's like going to say. Hey, we if I were to pick someone I pick Coal, Coal Caufield. Well, guess what. Call Coffield is not available. Okay? I'm saying that. A player might be available, okay? And the player that I'm thinking of Is yeah. Knee guard. Danny Guards, the third line center. I would even say third line. I mean, he his line is just completely Fantastic with Blake Coleman and John and and, uh Barkley, Gaudreau and Blake or Yanni, Gord, his energy His his his skating on the ice he's got. He scored five goals. He's one of the, um the top scores on his team in the playoffs, but he kills penalties. He is He's got energy. It's I have been really, really, really impressed with how he plays the game. I think he is a huge Huge piece to the Tampa Bay puzzle. Um and he would be a guy that I would love to get because they are going to Tampa Bay next year is going to be And we said this last year, but they got they kind of got around it with the culture off in the stamp coasting But now they are going to be in trouble. They are going to have to, um, move on from some certain players, and I think yeah, Knee guard could be just could be a player that could come available. I want to know this from you. They don't have a first round pick. Sabres make that deal between now and the draft for Jack or Sam and acquire first and early first from this year from Tampa Bay. You could you could you flip that to them for a couple of their pieces that they're going to lose? Like I just wonder about Anthony Cirelli. Wonder about like, like, I don't want Tyler Johnson. I'm not. I am not. No one wants Tyler Johnson, and that's why and you know what? Listen, take nothing away from Tyler Johnson. I think he's played actually very well throughout the playoffs. He's added a lot of energy on that fourth line center. But he is not the piece that I think that that people are looking for, but I mean, you have Brayden point. Who has one more year left. 6.75 And he is going to make a boat load of money. He's going to be a $10 million player in the National Hockey League. Um You have, uh Andre Palat, who needs a contract? He makes $5.3 million. There. There. There are some guards Barkley. Good. Joe is an unrestricted free agent Blake Coleman is an unrestricted free agent. They have. We were upset about while we I was upset about the salary cap circumvention with Kucherov. I mean, they're going to be in an even worse situation after this year. Yes, Yes, they will be and guys like Danny Gord. Who makes 5.1. $6 million a year. He's a third line center and he is a damn good one. He is someone that they're most likely going to have to move on from. Because he makes $5.2 million as a third line center for the next four years, and he's already 29. And I would take him right now in a heartbeat. Because if we here in Buffalo are going in a direction of going younger Danny. Gord is exactly the player that you want. He has exactly because he is because he has experienced to help the young guys, Piri insists. He listened. Nanny gored never even made the NHL until he was 25 or 2024 years old. It took time. He I don't think he was Dr. Question for you, Craig. Is he going to be? And I say this all the time. Draft little Shiri Connor Sheary comes from, And I'm not comparing Anne Gordon Connor Sheary. So I know Please don't. I'm not going to. I'm going to compare scenarios. Okay. Connor Sheary comes from Pittsburgh to Buffalo. Okay, everyone has high hopes because he came from Pittsburgh. One cups, two cops, multiple 20, or whatever he did. He had good offensive numbers. Um He was going to be a piece that was coming here to Continue to guess build off what he's already started for himself. But bring a Stanley Cup experience kind of carry a team on his own. He came from Pittsburgh came here did nothing. In fact, you had quite a fun name form that we will not say in the air. So we had Conor Sheary. Okay. Then he goes back to Washington after he leaves here and now all of a sudden, he's a good player on a really good team again. And I'm not saying Johnny Gord, isn't that but I'm just saying bringing Johnny Guard here. We're going to get Johnny Gordon Tampa or is he that good there Because he has Four players above them that are way better and make more. Well, when you individually look at what Yan Igor does His his his pace and his and his, um He's just relentless in the way that he plays the game. He is not a opportunist. Like Connor Sheary is an opportunist. Connor Sheary is a player that if you playing with good players, Connor Sheary is going to be the guy that reaps the benefit of playing with better players, But he doesn't create anything on his own. Danny Gord creates havoc on his own. It may not necessarily means that he's going to be getting you know, 50 60 70 points a year. It's what he does. It's the energy and pace and speed and physicality the the way that his competitiveness you see him on the bench talking to his players, he's always engaged. Into the game. This is energy. It's infectious. That's what we need. Here. We need the the older players that you bring in Need to be a certain type of player that is an infectious personality, an infection and how they play the game because the younger players are going to learn From watching. And that a Yanni Gord type player is a guy for me. He is about doing things right. He does it fast. He does it physical. He's not a big guy, but I don't care about. It's not about size. It's about how you play the game. And he is an unbelievable player. And if we if we were to get him I know he makes $5.1 million a year I would take that 5.1 and I would love every minute of it. Along with something else, though. I mean, what depends on what the deal is, but I don't think that's a Jack or Sam..

Tyler Johnson Danny Gord Conor Sheary Andre Palat Shiri Connor Sheary Anthony Cirelli Danny Connor Sheary Johnny Gord $10 million Blake Coleman $5.1 million $5.3 million Sam $5.2 million Jack Anne Gordon Connor Sheary Gaudreau 5.1. $6 million Piri

"It is the last call writing love Greg when I leave with you wrapping things up here here from John Cooper and just a little bit you're right it was interesting the trade deadline I felt like this trade deadline was more active than ones we've seen over the last maybe few years and I I think the numbers I think they have the last eight years there were more deal thirty one deals this year that's more more than any year in the last eight yeah it's it's a lie I felt like yeah and there were yeah there are certainly were were interesting deals around the league anything jump out at you I think I think that Vegas did a good job I mean we saw Martinez the other day and that a first are in the gap cancellation right he's a good player there there's no doubt he's going to help their defense you can play power play penalty kill what everyone it can you can play both sides you know if they needed to and then robin letter getting him as a backup goaltender Marc Andre Fleury I thought that was really good what effect that pushes that that's pushed for a little bit no but I think he's going to need a rest and I know he had that injury it's a lower body so I'm guessing from lower bodies on goaltenders usually growing or Catholics or something so it's something that they've got their eye on and letters had a really good year in Chicago yeah really good after a really good year on the island you know three clean himself up at you know off ice and all that well known story at this point and I thought they did a really good job there and doing that skews me and just staying on him for a second if I was Carolina why would I not have gone off after robin letter yeah if they knew that he was available because both their goalie got hurt in that game against Toronto and looks like at least one of them's going to be out for quite some time and I I think their goaltending is is not that great average you know yeah Reimer I think is is average or below he's been kicked around a bit and Marasigan is flashy but robin letter said a heck of a year anyway I'm just throwing that out there because my next team was Carolina really did do some really good things because they've got some nasty injuries right now too they got to defenseman up how she went down the other day looks like he's out for the remainder of the season the blow and Dougie Howlett has got a fractured leg half so he's out so they got Sami Vatanen from New Jersey that's still a player he is yeah I think he's he's still big dig up a bit that but got it yeah yeah but that is good obviously it doesn't look that bad and then I got Brady Shea from the from the Rangers still yeah so and then on top of that Vincent Trocheck for the a centerman from Florida who I like a great deal yeah he's I don't know that he's came to come back to the same level when he hurt his leg last year but at the same time he's got some serious skills I liked a lot what Carolina did but I've still kind of like huh you know you you you needed robin letter yeah so I'm kind of you know sort of it was just really interesting I do hit think they help themselves a lot on down the list actually Philadelphia for me was a bit of a sleeper in it's not big names Nate Thompson right a center man that I was kind of thinking you know might have been it was on my list for you know the fourth line on Iran for the lightning yeah and a former lightning player good center man and he's a real good year in Montreal he can really grind these edgy is nasty and then grant from Anaheim he's another one of those sort of under the radar guys who've got some real beef to I mean he can play nasty big heavy game the flyer flyers are fly flyers flyers are pretty good team and so these two guys are going to help them grind you know depending on who they're going to be up again so I thought they were kind of sneaky good Washington was interesting with global struck thank I I can't see him being a top six guys so is he going to disrupt their top six which is really good it's like trying to disrupt the top six of the lightning probably not a good idea right and he was really good it was terrible in LA really good in Montreal so which guy are you going to get it is it going to fit in as a third or fourth line or are they going to disrupt something in the top yeah careful what you wish for now and in Brenden Dillon the big defenseman from San Jose he is that he's a big stud yeah physical forget who he went after dropped off its market that's right that's right but when I followed it up with that and then next thing you know well and they love that yeah and and they love that because the Washington Pittsburgh thing I know is really intense because a Crosby and that you like of Pittsburgh at Pittsburgh Marlowe is always interesting Patrick Marleau yeah you know he's got a lot of experience he can be a versatile guy can still skate well even though he's been in the league for a hundred years and they brought Conor Sheary back whom they know really well he's been a clutch player form the odds Rodriguez from buffalo in a kind of so so on him and Jason Zucker who they got you know for several days ago he's got speed any I got some talent so they got some you know some you know molding of the clay to to accomplish there too like a lot of other teams so those were the ones probably that interested me the most but yeah it was a very active was very active trade deadline everybody trying to get better for sure yeah right that John Cooper spoke to the media just moments ago let's go to that on newsradio WFLA leading part so if you times of the shift after a goal or titles with more portion of the game like this where there's like a seventy guys tied up in the second vehicle completely what he did the missing in those kind of moments well it wasn't it was a whistle in between so it wasn't the next shift the time was short but it was we just blew the coverage that happens and you know pretty good goalscorer had it and the slot but that was that we didn't do it very often lasts there tonight five on five that was one of the coverage in they scored on so you guys have such a really good standard defensively services started calendar year twenty one sort of a little bit here the last couple games obviously what are some of the areas that is kind of happens out also checked the ice Russians well you tonight was not we didn't play poorly five or five we don't give anything to come in the there was a total special teams game when you lose a hockey game and the losing teams other players are plus and the other teams players are all minus you know what decided the game it was all special teams when you're looking at odd man rushes they were coming off our power play so I'm in there I think they're probably kill probably a chance our power plant a power play scored so to me that was the difference in the game five one five eight we were more than five our players it made over passing kind of an issue now with that group in America well the way the wind was we missed them out a lot and that was that when we do we have those too early in the second and we just can't miss the not so if we get those on that who knows what happens after that it did it's tough we keep missing and the other night it was hello we had we had some looks but on the other side of things we gave up count two on our power play so go to meals were probably a little bit of momentum swings and your charity takes a tough for matter there so unfortunately we we can't cut off and in the end that was the difference thing in it was such a strength for so long what do you what's missing from amber and I'm I don't know probably I I think when you're good so good for so long it's when you get scored on a few times it it opens eyes and the reason we won so many games for such a long stretch guys are probably kill was so good now parks are going in and it this is gonna happen happens when you play to talking to be a crossover night we're just going through a tough stretch on a non but I'm not worried we you know even if you some new guys in the lineup and it's gonna take some time that's what happens is it takes time so we can get our flow just as a coaching staff and the players and that'll that includes on special teams the staff is there yeah I I love the book to check here but some things that are bothering the pass got to him today and he he can come back over the first impressions of park lands act all the new players really I really enjoyed it I I agree with this it took took a short shift tonight because I was really surprised when he only had a ten forty ice time and because he was out there more than that but he you know he had a two on one and he he'll set up a goal it was he's big he's physical he competes hard just all those assets the same thing with fab although he was he was great he's he's a big boy you can skate did everything we asked of them broke the puck out yeah he first it was too bad because he had a couple bombs one unfortunately it's pointer in front but and then your Coleman Coleman's been outstanding for us and so it's those three guys if this were gonna get from those three guys every single night we're gonna be happy how long is that it just from hearing from you guys from the wireless wire I don't know I I always I think like you get some points the team wins a race all the color matched and and they don't and it's like all the fitting in and your clothes fit and fantastic you know it is a point to stop show for it but he's he's been great for us and and so I think specialist pressure on players to to calm the team's been rolling and you know we've lost couple row now and and but those guys giving us all they have like I said special teams been hurting us and that's just so we're gonna you know it's it comes and goes but we've we got a good group and we'll get that figured out hi John Cooper moments ago and Brian very excited about what he saw from the three DS tonight sublet Coleman a couple games before that puts you gotta think that'll just continue to get better and as we've said today in closing it's gonna take a few games for him to figure out what the lines are gonna be yeah for sure it might take a couple weeks for thing for things to set up an there are a couple weeks left certainly happen in the season so that's okay and and the good news is that they you know they're pretty healthy lead on Toronto they they lost two points to them tonight but so it's down to one eleven and I think they have a game in hand eleven point lead on Toronto so you don't wanna mess around but it's you know it's not like G. suite you know we who would do that intensity that what about nine eight nine other teams are going away now yeah Rick's parents Alec every point is like a big grimace you know every time you lose even one if you lose in overtime so that that's all good eve group a great point about you know the special teams that was an older Trotter scored the two yeah and yet the lightning gave up some of the worst chances they gave up all night when they were on the power play just got a little loose and didn't anticipate and tried to give trump credit yeah I mean they jumped on him and salad with cheese so I felt I felt bad for Victor Hedman Victor was having one of those nights were like everything was coming out of and other times were one time to get passed back to the point should have an excellent scoring chance it's rolling it's a stick and now he's flat footed he's rambling there it ends up in a in a bit of partial breakaway I think that was captain and cut a recap in a couple of times yeah and that's the way Toronto can play they can really blow it open quick because the guys like Neil lander in Kaplan Kaplan and so you you have to and may be the realization that they haven't played it trial since October maybe forgot a little bit about it I don't know you know you but because they are explosive just sometimes awareness away from the park cut them a little flat footed but overall certainly not a disaster and they came back and got at the four three but certainly want to stop this this losing streak at at at three yeah thanks again man Thursday night against Chicago and that'll be a seven o'clock start six thirty per game good test for them yeah Chicago has some skill players so we'll see how that all plays out bring great job as always we do it again on Thursday thanks yep you got it Jason Barringer back in our studios thank you Stepherson was thank you guys as well will be with you again on Thursday thanks.

"And and so easy to score goals for him in the olympics you looked great but i mean even the move he missed in debut the i forget who was a net made a great when he went back to his back here i mean there's moves there he's got hands and skill that too for the bruins to him is crazy but quickly on that head i don't understand i don't understand the league because back as hit was the same and i thought it should have been a gamer two and shins schenn's hit was was i mean i don't really get how if the hit to the head i is it not as dispension i just have no clue at this point it's the same thing with the goal i don't i don't know i do not have any idea what a hit to the head isn't what isn't because creatures head was the first point of contact it was his face and me because he's bent over that though say i don't know i'm sure i'll tell you i'm glad i don't have that job because that's not an easy job because either way whatever you call people pissed off and it's also such a fine line like i don't even understand how they make the decision because of how you know kim all the detail is and even if you look at the replay you can't even tell sometimes you know like we said all the time i it's it's the inconsistency it's just no one knows what to expect you know based on what we see i don't think anything's going to happen i think they're going to say well you know he put himself in harm's way and then would face was committed to the hit even though he left his feet hsien even though he left his feet a little bit you know i thought when it started.

"Gets a lot different so i definitely didn't expect this not not back at cushing with sean as my captain yelling at me all the time but shut up sean good when you get back to the city after the season as you go back parents house you got your own pat down the waterfront with a lot of things that will say you're not living at your parents please tell me no no just this this past year i bought a house in the i live up in switch renier or north shore guy north shore guy yeah girl rose so i'm north shore guy it's a nice neck of the woods out there you can't beat the switch clemes that's for sure oh i know good seafood up there so corner listen we gotta ask you know my favorite professional athletes bill castle you mentioned you plan on the third line with him in persad what a third line is what is it like to play with phil when you get to hear the game fact practice he chirpy on the vantage just a comedy show every day with them how fun is it to play with the thrill no it's awesome you know he's he gets a lot of heat that guy but he's he's one helluva player and i think a lot of credible looking to get him looking to get him the puck you make so many plays that people don't see i think you hear it all the time he's an underrated passer and it's so true if you just watch him he gets every pass through through demand or whatever it might be but i mean obviously he's got that shot but i think his passing is crazy so you just gotta try to get open and you know he'll he'll say see something on the bench to you but he's never yelling at you not that kinda guy what what is your favorite part about playing in the nhl.

"Twenty penguins are looking to become the first team in thirty five years to three peat with the stanley cup what's the feeling in the locker room is you know total confidence you guys can get it done for third street time is you know is there any trepidation switch the field the room right now i mean i think we're confident we were obviously in a tight race which kinda keeps us on our toes every night we got to try and win the division here so i mean i i think we have a really good team obviously out of restarted at the deadline and he's an unreal player for us and hopefully it'll help us moving forward and like we talked about earlier we just have those elite players that almost any game you're in you're not out of it just because those guys so i think our competences high were just looking forward to playoff push here and and hopefully hopefully quenching pretty soon color what was it like to play at umass and you know what do you how do you think the future of umass hockey is gonna play out you know i'm i'm a big fan of you know coach car val and i think he's an unbelievable to crew to as with you know bringing tale maker so you know what are your thoughts on kind of just a state of umass hockey yeah i think it's going in the right direction for sure i think when i was there we were chagall struggling a little bit they had a lot of coaching changes and a lot of people weren't happy but i think with carve al coming in he's he's definitely recruited i mean you see the two guys he recruited this year their top draft picks and i mean that was the most wins they've had and probably and years of a umass.

"We're the best team in the league and then they just crap out so as far as the blues go i'm kinda dead inside until it gets coast like the year they went to the western conference finals i kinda got my heart ripped out when they lost the sharks about two years ago and then 'cause my my one of my best friends dad's was assistant coach show are all what to call the not assistant you know a socio sorry no oh bradshaw you you know show this sean yeah oh yeah he was my linemate for four years before he became all of a sudden really good play in vermont and hbo and shit but yeah he he's that's one of my oldest friends so we would be tied into the team like you've never seen like every game we'd go sit in like the wives lounge everything i'm talking like school nights we weekends every single night so i was like living and dying and then when they got to that year everything seemed to be coming together like you had the young guys like tear single has become an absolute monster like you know fishery everyone is taking no back as who i who i used to give shit all the time like as far as all hack it's like he's not good all the sudden he's just scoring ot goals leading the team as you guys know what the bruins now he's he's a guy that when it's working he's just about the best team you could ever have as far as like fighting getting big goals everything so that team went like magic we thought not a big deal i don't wanna make a big deal but that game seven.

"Yeah i mean it's so much it's basically like the nhl for like bad players there's like fans and everything you go to some of these barns like eagle river all these places like small towns in wisconsin in like i mean they know it's not that good but the fans it's the biggest attraction in town it's like being in a junior team in like topeka or something so it's a blast man it's like so after i stopped playing at lawrence i i went to that team and i was like kind of not done with hockey but i mean as you read the stats with it wasn't very encouraging two years is not fun 'cause like i i went to a small high school in saint louis and obviously saying was hockey is getting a lot better but highschool ocoee still pretty bad you know compared to other states so like i used to rip it up versus guys that i thought i was pretty good you know he's not a big deal but i mean sixty five goals in about like eighteen nineteen games you'd think that you're good hockey player listen i didn't wanna sit i really try not to bring that up but i mean it's it's not a huge deal but yeah that did happen and i mean then you go and all of a sudden you're you're not even making the lineup the fifth line i think a few times we had i think eighteen ford's my sophomore year i definitely appeared on the six line a few times which i don't know how people can say that or or like six line and you gotta slash like you're rotating with a guy on six line that was great too so that was tough and i mean honestly this league it's it's kind of a joke but it's made me wolf hockey game and for someone that loves the game like you know you play from when you're two years old whatever until now you can't really just drop it it's like a part of you so going back into that like i'm going up this weekend meet up with a bunch of my buddies i played in college with it's like we might as well be in the joe we might as well be anywhere because dudes playing hockey anywhere i can't get enough man.

"I love apple their team axes pretty fun to watch so philly in the playoffs always makes it a little exciting i mean obviously things things can change completely that if you look at it right now they end up playing believe washington in the i know they'd play they'd played tampa in the for know who they play an idiot they'd put washington right at washington in the first round so i mean it it's it's so undecided in terms of like the metro you know those teams columbus pittsburgh and washington could all still win that division so you can't really pick who would play who yet but just having philly in the playoffs kinda creates a little fun i believe so as much as i'd like to see them lose and knock it in it's still great having the flyers apart part of the part of the whole mix and come springtime permit april matt i'm season speaking of master season the plus minus the green jacket commies favorite award is coming right down to the stretch right down the stretch so that'll be interesting see who ended up taking the league wide race for the green jacket and a plus minus part but it's always hilarious does the at the end of the race jacking up plus minus i don't know if you've taken if you take a couple hundred all wits i looked smarter tampa base while on one side still the chalk it plus three fifty but boston nashville pittsburgh all four to one vegas plus five fifty winnipeg nine one washington ten to one then the rest of the field so i mean there's no no real value out of any of those teams i mean have you throw it any any additional stanley cup that's the last last couple of months or did you stick with what you put it at the beginning of the i've i've just stuck with the nashville anaheim futures and i'm kind of rattled because anaheim's even higher than they were when i when i miss back i think i think i got him at like seven qian's and one and i loved it i was talking around that and now it's like twenty five with them.
