"You heard in that version of the race for the White House. I want to play that one specifically because that's the voice of Tulsi Gabbard congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, she officially announce this week that she is running for president officially and the scuttle. But in regard to her is all of a sudden Russian websites have been pro Gabbard for no real discernible reason. She's getting all this. I'll say press coverage from RT Russia today and Sputnik in other places, which makes the conspiracy theorists or even just a reasonable person to a certain degree wonder if she's being falsely promoted to create a division within the Democratic Party more than this already there. But to elevate her campaign, and it makes you wonder because if we look at what happened last week with Senator Kamla Harris, she barely got out her announcement, and all of a sudden she received all this hate on Twitter, which didn't make any logical sense. But if we've learned anything from two thousand sixteen is that social media is going to play a disproportionate role in how these candidates are going to be perceived. We know that and I just want to say it's just Russia. I'm quite sure there are other countries who would like to influence our elections and have some sort of say in how we perceive some. All of the candidates that I'm almost willing to venture that if you as a presidential candidate are receiving all sorts of eight right now out of the gate, then that means you perceived to some sort of threat or a viable candidate. Because no one's really going to talk about a candidate, which has no chance. No one's talking about, John Delaney. No one is talking about leeann Castro nine social media. There's no real hate out there. Oh, and let me just say can I just Pat myself on the back for the the announcement this week that Eric Garcetti's not running for president? Remember, I did say grand opening grand closing because of that FBI story which let it on the front page of LA times, it it was a done deal is a foregone conclusion week later. Senator Cory Booker, New Jersey. He's officially jumped into the race now. And it makes you wonder I don't I'm kind of neutral on Booker. He seems like he's a nice guy every time he talks we've played some of his audio before everything is sunshine and rainbows. I don't know. I think he's a smart guy in the sense of he knows how to govern. If only because he was a mayor. He's not just a Senator who really doesn't have anything to do. He was the mayor of Newark, of course, depending on who you ask as far as how you feel about him as a mayor, but he's a legislator. He knows at least what to do in a governance since he's competent in that regard. And and which is surprising Governor Chris Christie. Also, New Jersey had really kind words to say about him. And maybe that's the kiss of death. But you don't get that all that often. And if you can get any type of bipartisan feel. That's going to do well in the long run. Now. I don't believe that. He is a strong enough candidates to get the democratic nomination. I don't know that. I don't think. So I don't think so because I've always felt that Democrats especially this time. Need to fall in love. And I don't think they'll fall in love with Cory Booker. They wanna fall in love with Senator Harris. But I don't know she's a strong enough candidate to get that far. If we look at how the primaries and laid out she has a chance for this reason, California has moved up its primary it's earlier in the schedule. So she could do well in Iowa where she went to very early is she could do somewhat well in New Hampshire. She spent time in South Carolina, which is before California, and as a high African American population, she could do well there and get to California. Then all of a sudden, she might have some momentum. Because we assume that she would do well in the California primary, and she's getting for all of the initial onslaught of hate she does have a lot of support publicly from from Democrats in general, there's there's a lot of hay out there for her. It just remains to be seen. Whether her message is going to resonate with. I will say purple states, mid western states. They're just now getting to know her. And that's part of the reason why you get in the race early. She obviously handles herself well on TV, but we don't know how. Well, she handles herself in the sense of a debate between six candidates. I don't know. And I think that she'll do just fine. If only because some of the candidates and some of the people that are out there right now, unless there are some surprises unless binding actually does jump in. He's gonna jump. I I don't know depending on who else. I mean Sanders gets back into the race. You know, he's he's chomping at the bit. If he jumps back in VIN. There will be some good conversations debate wise, but I would say outside of Biden and maybe Booker if if for some reason, you know, they make the far who really has any conversation for her. Well, here's the thing. And this is why I always try to tell people. There are candidates who are viable in not electable viable means. You didn't get the nomination electable. Obviously, you can win the election. You take someone like Senator Elizabeth Warren to me, she's not electable shinkin appeal to enough of the country. But we're the Democratic Party is right now, she might be viable given. How the party has moved left. I don't I don't I wouldn't say that she's an odds on favourite. But I think the she'll have to be dealt with on some level. I think she's than Bernie Sanders is at this point. Okay. Okay. This is all speculation at this point because we still have a long way to go and another twenty five Democrats to maybe one independent to jump in the race w what we do. You will not be Eric Garcetti. I was just making a statement. Josh you didn't have to throw in applause like that. It louder. Put it on loop this Kelly. So we have a Cosby update when we come back here. If I am six forty more stimulating talk now to the newsroom for an update..

She's also the first Indian American woman to run Harris's in the company of three other women who are running senators Kirsten gillibrand and Elizabeth Warren and congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard taking a moment to recognize history in the making children share this on Twitter quote. A pretty amazing thought today four women are already running for president in twenty twenty which will Mark exactly one hundred years since women gained the right to vote. So proud of how far we've come and excited to see what we'll do next those four women joined three other candidates in the democratic field. And it's still early the field for Democrats could be crowded with announcement from his many as a dozen more people expected, including senators Cory Booker and Bernie Sanders, both senators were in the early primary state of South Carolina for MLK day, fueling the. Fire of possible twenty twenty campaigns. The first of the south St. is a key stop for Democrats hoping to court primary voters Sanders resurrected some of his familiar 2016 rhetoric and mince no words, but his feelings about the sitting president. Today. We talk about Justice. And today, we talked about racism, and I must tell you it gives me no pleasure to tell you that. We now have a president of the United States who is a racist. Booker on the other hand added any mention of President Trump a quick break for us the eleventh hour back after this..

"I'm here today to break the logjam and provide congress with a path forward to end the government shutdown border security, docket TPS and many other things straightforward fair reasonable and common sense with lots of compromise. President Trump coming to the table with an offer for the Democrats end the shutdown. It's not really getting much traction among congressional Democrats. Let's discuss congresswoman let me start with you. Because you're the one that's negotiating in there. You heard congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard say that she thinks both sides are being intransigent, not just President Trump. That's deviating from the democratic songbook a little bit. Is there not any room to negotiate? They're the first thing we need to do. It's open the government. There's so many federal workers that are not getting paid eight hundred thousand who are calling and struggling let's get the government open. And then let's sit at the table and talk about border security. And coming up with a comprehensive immigration before look as a member of homeland security. I can tell you we want to stop drugs. We want to stop criminals, we are for border security. So we're going to put money into border security. Let's put it where it's going to make a difference ports of entry infrastructure money. They're more personnel technology. There are other places where we need to put our money first before we even start talking about these other areas. So let's open the government. I former congresswoman Mia love legitimate question being asked by Democrats, if this war border wall was so important, why wasn't it passed in the two years when the Republicans controlled the house? Well, I think it's important for us to put all the cards on the table and talk about what's really going on here. I believe that if the president actually backs away from border security has border wall. He will lose the presidency and Republicans are going to have a really hard time. I think that that's the reason why we're not getting counter offers. I mean, let's immigration something that's always been incredibly important to me. I've taken on my own leadership. Try and bring up votes on the floor when it comes to immigration. So I think that speaker Pelosi is losing a golden opportunity to say, you know, what? Okay, I'm gonna give you five point seven billion. But I want DACA, I want a temporary protective status. I want to make sure that we have dreamers taken care of. I wanna make sure that we have families can stay together at the border. She can ask for anything. At least start bear run counter off. There will be a counteroffer. It's going to happen this week. There's going to be a billion dollars put on the table by the Democrats in the budget. In addition to the one point three billion that they already put on the table in the department of homeland security budget that would be two point three billion for home for border security enough for the well, I mean, this is why this is so crazy. Can we talk about what border security is isn't that the purpose of what Trump is trying to get? So let's figure out using experts. What is the best way to keep the border secure as everybody says all these cars? Is coming through bringing heroin at cetera ninety percent of that of the drugs that come into the US from for Mexico. However, they're all coming through ports of entry. So let's vast majority. It's not ever. But the bottom line is they are coming through ports of entry. Yes. So let's figure out the technology that would allow screening of the vehicles to make that stop. There is a counter that's my point and the and the Republicans need to finally get to say, yes, let's take the counter, and then negotiate all of this other stuff government is that has put on the table things that Democrats want. The Democrats have not put one penny on the table of what the president the Democrats don't want temporary Dacca. Lis lis leaves moved in the direction. They haven't put a penny are put into million dollars on the Dale then this is a very different crisis..

"And that's why I think I can break through and actually serve and represent everyone. Gillibrand democrat of New York you thousand twenty candidate thanks so much for joining us. We appreciate it. Thanks, jake. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard also says she's running and if she wins she'd be the youngest person ever elected, president of the United States and joining me now is congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard congresswoman, thanks so much for joining us. Let me ask you the president just offered a deal to end the shutdown. He would extend temporary protections for some dreamers undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children exchange for border wall. Funding, would you take the deal? No, the problem here is that this issue like so many others in Washington are being relegated to partisan politics. Where if a Republican is putting forward a proposal? Democrats are going to shoot it down. If Democrats are putting forward a proposal Republicans are gonna shoot it down really thinking about which party can call a win on this issue again, which happens with far too many issues, and as a result the American people end up losing out. So Trump is putting forward different ideas. Democrats have put forward different ideas. But the problem here, and why we're in a situation where over eight hundred thousand federal employees or going for now a month without a paycheck and suffering as a result is because of the the unwillingness to actually just sit down and work through the details that each side is putting forward knowing that neither side is going to get everything that they need. That's what needs to happen here. So I understand you don't support the offer. The President Trump made what's. Counter offer. I mean, if you want people to sit down deal with what do you think should happen? Yeah. Well, first of all, I don't think it should be done on television, these negotiations shouldn't be done on television have adults coming together sitting down and Goshi eating the issues that that have to be addressed the issues of border security, the issues of making sure that we've got the resources dedicated to where they need to be the issues that are still outstanding regarding immigration and immigration reform. Some of them have been talked about dealing with our dreamers who are still facing uncertainty who still have no permanency to their futures here in the only home that they've ever known as well as the issue of TPS. I think there are a whole host of issues that need to be addressed. But they cannot be addressed so long as both sides are not willing to come together and have a real conversation and hash out the differences and come up with something that works best for the American people interesting though because you sound like you're not just blaming. President Trump on this. You're you're also blaming democratic leaders in congress. Both sides have completely hardened their positions and are unwilling to come together and work out the differences. And that's the problem. Here is the problem that we see with a lot of issues that come before us in Washington is an unwillingness to just say, hey, here's my position. Here's yours. Let's figure out how we can work out the differences that we can putting forward the best solution for the American people are federal employees and contractors and their families have gone on for far too long suffering as a result of this intransigence where people are putting politics before the well being of the American people and our country..

Unlike the previous administration will spend a lot a bit more on this than you want me to just warning you full disclosure. This is something I really enjoy. So he took stage for two hours, and we learned of course, he has big plans for more tax money to be spent in particular, he wants to give six months of pays Elise families. I heard him today. And he was moaning about the middle class is is under a lot of pressure is getting squeezed. It's like your and your your party. You're the one squeezing the middle class. You're whacked them with an eight hundred dollar gas tax last year. You got all these housing restrictions. So they can't buy homes in less populated areas. That are less expensive. You're driving up the cost of housing. You got all these crazy taxes going on? And you want to give away you what legal aliens are getting healthcare people. Now, get six months paid leave for having a baby nobody needs six months paid leave. Nobody even asked for that last for six months. Nobody wants six months and this one we missed yesterday the water taxes back. Oh for goodness saints the tax drinking water to help poor communities. He just gives up we find. Yeah. There is no barrier. Let's listen to him Babylon about homeless. This is his withholding the gas tax money. Oh, yeah. We're gonna throw him in the dumpster here.
