"Max politics this is Ben max from Gotham gazette, a publication of citizens union foundation. Thanks very much for tuning in here for this episode of the show. We're speaking here today on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022. We are in the midst of early voting for the June primaries for statewide races for state assembly races, some party positions, judicial races. There are two sets of primaries this year in the 2022 New York elections right now in the midst of those elections in August. We will be dealing with the state Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives. So we've been talking about that some on the show. We'll get back to that in the coming weeks and months, but right now we are in the final days of these June primaries that include the races for governor lieutenant governor and many contested state assembly seats, the most watched races, of course, or the democratic primary for governor and the Republican primary for governor, both of them very competitive and contested. There's been some series of televised debates. We've been recapping those at Gotham gazette if you want to check out what happened if you missed it. And then the democratic primary for lieutenant governor is very interesting and competitive as well. There's no primary for lieutenant governor on the Republican side, Allison esposito will be the running mate of whoever comes through the gubernatorial primary there. And there's a bunch of interesting state assembly races, some incumbents being challenged by some insurgent progressives. There's some open seats that are competitive. We've got to run down of those that got from gazette in a racist to watch piece so you can check that out. But really, obviously, because of the immense importance and power of the position of governor, most of the eyes are on the two primaries for the major parties in the gubernatorial race. And today I'm pleased to be joined by jumani Williams back on the show here, the New York City public advocate running in the democratic primary for governor, we are here in the middle of early voting ahead of primary day on Tuesday, June 28th. Public advocate Williams, of course, is in the primary with governor Kathy hochul and congressman Tom swazi, the three way democratic primary. And public Ava Williams, I appreciate you coming back to the show to talk about the final days of the race here. Thanks so much, always a pleasure to be on. Extra special beyond as we're closing out this race. So thank you. Thanks for the time. Appreciate it. So we're here Wednesday, June 22nd, a few more days of early voting through Sunday, then you got primary day on Tuesday, no voting on the Monday as the board of elections sort of resets from the early voting sites to the regular sites. What's the state of the race from where you see it? You are obviously have been far behind in fundraising from a sitting governor, not a huge surprise there being governor of New York State usually leads to quite a windfall in the campaign coffers. Polling has showed the governor hulk with a sizable lead. But what are you seeing? How are you seeing this on the ground? What do you thinking the state of the race is right now?.

Brian D's the head of the national economic council highlighted the plunge in unemployment and said inflation is a global problem We also believe that the strength of our economic recovery the strength of our labor market and the strength of wage increases and the steps that we've taken to try to provide some relief to American families position our economy and American households uniquely "My congressman Tom Swazi that's being fired inside the Capitol change. He was on the phone. He was saying shots are being fired inside the Capitol. Here's Josh Gad heimer, New Jersey congressman protesters, the mob was getting closer. And so they shut down the floor and had us lean under our seats hunker down there and then then it appeared that the Protesters. The mob was getting closer and well, I really just tough for these guys ducking for cover. Michael s So long Republican Party. Nice known yet. Time for the news at 6 30 from Joe Bartley. Good morning, Joe. All right. Michael. President Trump is being blamed for that. Insurrection at the Capitol. Former President Obama and Bush boats laid blame. At Trump and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer had his moment on the Senate floor president to promoted conspiracy theories that motivated these thugs. President who exhorted them to come to our nation's capital. Egged him on. He hardly ever discourages violence. And more often encourages it. This president There's a great deal of the blame. All right, Senator Mitt Romney says it happened because of a selfish man's injured pride. The unrest has led to talk of actually removing President Trump from office. Even though he's got less in two weeks to go. Analyst Rick Klein says there are discussions on Capitol Hill and within the president's own Cabinet as well growing sense that even Republicans would probably say that there's something wrong with the president's head at this moment, frankly, and there's talk about using the 25th amendment to remove him. I think that is unlikely, but the talk of impeachment is real. It's being entertained by members of House and and even Senate leadership. More likely is that there's a possibility of mass resignations from his administration in the coming days Now the president released a video message a couple of hours after the mob took control of the capital. He called for people to go home, but also spent a large part of that address. Continuing to complain about the election results, well, nothing to complain about now because Congress has certified President elect Biden's win after that, unrest in the capital ended with lawmakers got back to work. And certified the results. They were still Republican objections, but fewer than there would have been ahead of the crisis. But way speaking of the president, his Twitter account was temporarily locked. This after a couple of tweets, where he claimed that he won the election. One of those tweets was the video message where he told supporters to go home. Facebook also has blocked the president as well. All right, honestly. Football news. The controversy continues over the decision by Eagles coach Doug Peterson to pull his starting quarterback and lose the game not only where the Giants upset Because it cost them a shot at the playoffs. Apparently, Eagles players were upset as well. The Philadelphia Inquirer says to defensive players were so upset that they had to be restrained from confronting Peterson. Now he continues to deny that he threw the game He claims putting his third string quarterback into the game was Him coaching to win. Oh, really? That Z can't survive this joke. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets dumped. I mean, really, I don't see how we survived. I should be on e No. The only thing for the Giants fans to be upset, But I mean, when you know the Eagles, even the players were upset. By the way speaking, the Giants Dave gentleman is going to stay is general manager General manager Michael You know the what do you say about the Eagles owner? No, Jeffrey Lori of men of a few times and I shared a communal dinner with that red farm once. Nice guy. Scott. Okay? No. You know, I just met him a few times here and there, but I guess he did You tell them what your thoughts about football and how you felt the Eagles could improve themselves for next year. Well, I did. And it just so happened That was just a few games before they won the World Series. So I gave him a few bill. There you go on. And that was that was the year They also won the NBA championship. Right. Did they know? Oh, gosh, That would have been a great conversation Two over here, huh? Just follows that World Series. So what? It was no. He the Eagles of the football team. You also football team, but you're the one they said they won the World Series. Oh, hopes. Whenever I'd say, believe will tell us what's never mind a little light hearted fun on the dark day here in America. Thank you. Just Thanks, Job, Arlette. All right up next, uh, can trump be removed from the White House. There's talk of invoking the 25th amendment, or should he be impeached as many in the mainstream media?.
