"Calling calling on at least four witnesses to testify including acting chief-of-staff Mick Mulvaney and former national security adviser John Bolton no one no one has given a reason and why these shouldn't testify if president trump is so Certain that he did nothing wrong. Why is he what is he afraid of? What busy hiding when he says Mulvaney or Bolton or the other two witnesses shouldn't testify? The president is also furious over the latest polls on impeachment including one from Fox News that shows fifty percent would like to see Mr Trump impeached and removed from office. One big problem for the president the way he's attacked the impeachment process has raised serious questions former. FBI AND CIA Director William Webster a Republican posted an op-ed in the New York Times questioning Mr Trump. Attorney General William Bars attacks on. FBI agents writing the aspersions cast upon them by the president and my longtime friend attorney. General William Bar are troubling in the extreme calling. FBI professional scum as has the president did is a slur against people who risked their lives to keep us safe. That was in reference to Mr Trump's rally last week they've destroyed the lives of the people that were great people that is still great people their lives have been destroyed by scum. Okay bye scum and the White House has tried to undermine the democratic case for impeachment by willing some endangered Democratic lawmakers in the house the president was apparently able to persuade one Congressman Jeffrey Andrew to switched parties and joined the GOP other undecided. Democrats appear to be staying put in their party and even announcing today that they will vote to impeach the president not not the kind of mass defections. The White House was hoping for now. As for Giuliani. The president was asked earlier this afternoon. What he learned from his personal attorney after that trip to Ukraine the president responded reporters? Not Too much wolf. That is not consistent with what Giuliani told the Wall Street Journal that he told the president he found more than you can imagine. That's not consistent with good point. Indeed our Jim Acosta at the White House thank you. Let's get some more on all of this joining us now Democratic Congresswoman Debbie McCarthy Powell Florida member of the Judiciary Committee Congressman. Thanks so much for coming in your hurt. Chuck Schumer say he wants these four White House officials current and former to testify. Robert Blair John Bolton Michael Duffy Mick Mick Mulvaney but House Democrats in your Democrat. You ultimately dropped your demand to hear from them because you thought it would take too long if there were subpoenas and court decisions decision. Was that a mistake. I don't think so wolf. I think that we had to move fairly quickly. Because if you remember the inspector general brought this complaint was an urgent incredible complaint which is an imminent threat to our democracy. And there's an urgency which is why we could not wait for the courts but we're gonNA continue demanding demanding. You know with the subpoena John Again to come and testify now The president has abused the power of his office demanding a foreign government to investigate his political political opponents putting his private and personal gain before the interest of our country. So there's a national security issue here at hand so I think but I think I think it's fine. I think that I'm glad to see Senate minority leader Schumer really taking a stand against leader McConnell. If in fact these four individuals visuals these four officials current and former testify. How important will that be? Well if you remember it was the chief of Staff Mulvaney who said that you know. Quid pro quo. It's okay that they do this all the time and that's just not true so we have a video of him. Admitting that the president was asking a foreign government to interfere in our elections. That's one and also John Bolton and all of the evidence and the Fiona Hill testified that he was very concerned that he didn't want to be a part of this drug deal is what he called it so I think that it would be very interesting listening to hear from the two of them for the Senate Majority Leader Mitch. McConnell said okay these four they could testify but in exchange we want hundred Biden and some others to testify as well. Would you go along with the look. I am going to leave that to the Senate to decide but I can tell you that what the Republicans have done very well is distract from the fact that the president of the United States has violated the law and has violated the Constitution and they throw around conspiracy theories that are completely debunked and they were doing that during the hearing last last week and I actually called them out on it because I think that it is our responsibility as leaders as Congress members to tell the American public the truth and not lied to them. Do you trust the Senate That the Senate will hold a fair trial at this point. I'm very concerned Wolf I have heard Senator Graham and leader McConnell saying that they already know what they're gonNA do and they haven't even conducted the trial. I personally believe that we may be in the beginning stages of a constitutional crisis is if you have a separate branch of government acquiescing to the president of the United States really violating the separation of powers. This is extremely concerning thing and very dangerous charge democracy on the political front. Are you worried that this whole impeach impeachment of process could endanger some of your fellow Freshman Democrats right right. Do you want in a Republican district. Although trump did not carry your district in two thousand Sixteen Hillary Clinton did. But are you worried that some of your freshman colleagues might be in trouble if they go ahead and vote for impeachment of the thirty one for example who did get elected in trump districts. I can tell you that I am so proud of some of my colleagues were patriots. I mean Eliza Slatkin who served on the CIA Abigail Spam Burger also Foreign Service officers. Who have served our country and for them? It's not on about politics. It's not about party it's about protecting our democracy. It's about their duty to protect the oath that they took to protect the constitution. So I think that ultimately really their constituents are going to be very proud to see their representatives put our country before their political allegiances. You know some of your fellow Freshman Democrats they want justice marsh a former Republican now an independent to be one of the impeachment managers in a Senate trial. He's he was a very conservative Republican Publican but he split with Donald Trump with president trump. And now some of your colleagues want him to serve as an impeachment manager. You agree that that I don't know him personally. Only that's what I told my colleagues so I I'm going to let the leadership decide on that. I know that they're gonNa make the right choices. The concern that a lot of Democrats have is that not one. Republican can in the House of Representatives. Afraid about just mush is a former Republican. Not One is GonNa go along and vote in favor of impeachment will be strictly along party lines although there may be two or three or four Democrats who vote with Republicans so I would ask my republican colleagues if it's okay for the president of the United States to has performed interference. They can't answer that question. I do want to speak with a couple of them that I think have been looking at all the facts and all the evidence and I wouldn't be surprised if one or two broke party lines and voted with us because again what I'm seeing is that the Republicans in Congress here in Washington. DC are the party of trump. There's they're so loyal and they're engaged in a cover-up when the evidence has been so clear Wolf we've had nine different hearings we've had patriots. Come and testify. I trump appointees saying that it was very clear that the president was a scheme that was going on for months. Now so let me get your reaction to Rudy Giuliani. The president's personal lawyer. He just told told The New Yorker magazine and you heard it that he played a key role in getting rid of the US ambassador to your Kramer Maria von which he told this to the New Yorker. He said. I believe leave that I needed Uganda. which out of the way said she was going to make the investigations difficult for everybody? How significant is that admission from the president's personal order I think it's very significant? Especially when you hear my Republican colleagues say that the president was just concerned about corruption. Well Ambassador Ianovich. Her main focus had been battling corruption and for Rudy Giuliani. WHO's not a state official? He is the personal attorney of the president helping him in the scheme trying to remove a career diplomat who had been battling corruption is should be very telling to the American public. Thanks so much for coming in thank you very much. So there's a lot going.

"In the children saying that children have been telling them please save us from Donald Trump hi congressman Jeffrey he said moments ago the American people should decide the outcome of the election and that's why we're impeaching Donald Trump not joking he actually said something that stupid take a listen is it okay for the president to solicit foreign interference in the twenty twenty election or not who should decide the outcome of elections is it the Russians the Chinese the Ukrainians all the American people it should be the American people and that's why we're here at this moment and so let's have a serious discussion about it stop attacking Americans who refused to bend the knee this president the gentleman with the I. yeah I mean I just I just got to say so it's okay for the present so supporter feared she says and then he says the American people should decide the outcome the election and that's why we're impeaching Donald Trump I thought we did decide the election I thought that's what we did and then represented dean she now claims that high school students are telling her thank you thank you for protecting them by impeaching Donald Trump so that's why we're now impeaching the president last night as we left here I wanted to just tell you this I went outside and there was a team of about twelve high school students from Ohio with their teacher and they said would you mind stopping for medical we just talk to you for a minute it was so interesting to watch and to listen and hear what was going on at this important historic time we loved learning about our constitution and how much you price this constitution thank you for protecting it for us and you know what they said to me we didn't understand this before but you I do now it's your job it is the houses job to determine what evidence comes in we do not need permission from the president we do not need permission from the courts in fact we have an obligation to do our job under this simple smart document under this simple smart document she holds up the constitution but she says it's the kids now we're we're impeaching the president for the kids there was also something else that happened you're sure jell slimy the media is during a recess a member of the media from Reuters a reputable organization I got busted taking pictures of the members of Congress is notes without their knowledge it represented gates said I'm not taking this crap anymore any little mock before I make my point during the break a Reuters photographer Josh Roberts approach the dice and took pictures of the notes of the dozens of several of my democratic colleagues we noticed that announced it to staff in that reporter at that photographers been removed so I would just say no member Republican or Democrat I should be subject to that we ought to have the opportunity to take on those participating available for discussion I love by the way that the Republicans again no member Republican or Democrat should be subjected to that and that member of the media out from Reuters has been kicked out of the room this is of course one of the members and swap it took a Republican there to say it not a Democrat it it that's how they do it now there's something else that happened to the today I and that is represented now they are impeachment he said what is central here is that we are is we do we want a dictator this is a new charge against Donald Trump there now calling him and referring to him as a dictator in their opening statement to the American people myself for five minutes straight laced with I just want to say the central issue of this impeachment is the corruption of our institutions that safeguard democracy by this president those are two basic protections we have for our democracy free and fair elections and the president in article one is charged with trying to subvert the free and fair elections by extorting a foreign power into interfering in that Alexis to give him help in his campaign we cannot tolerate a president subverting the fairness and integrity of our elections the second major safeguard of our liberties designed by the framers of the constitution is the separation of powers the power is not United in one dictator but is spread out through the executive the prep represented by the president the Congress and the judiciary so there it is Democrats are now I'll try to tell the American people that we have a dictator and that's why they're trying to Pete center because America should have never had a dictator now there was one part today that was amazing and I'm just trying to give you the highlights and that that is when hunter Biden and the truth about hunter Biden and his history of corruption came out representative gates made it very clear odd that he was willing to use this impeachment hearing to expose what really we should all be talking about and the key issue of corruption and he did an excellent job of that I'd take a listen to what he had to say central element of the Democrats case on abuse of power is that the bidens did nothing wrong it can only be an abuse of power and not a correct use of power if the president was pursuing something under which there was no reasonable basis to ask a question about hunter Biden and Bristol hunter Biden charisma what's an interesting story and I think just about every American knows there's something up with that eighty six thousand dollars a month no experience working for some foreign government well your dad's the vice president added states is there anyone who believes this is okay I know we got a few my Democrat colleagues maybe run for president might run for president one day would you let your vice president have their son or daughter family member out moonlighting for some foreign company maybe I'll use language familiar to the former vice president come on man this looks dirty is it is hunter Biden was making more than five times more than a board member for Exxon Mobil I've heard of that company it's all one to read up on how to buy learn a little more about my found this very extensive profile in The New Yorker and I here's here's what it says hunter said that at that point he had not slept for several days driving east on interstate ten just be on palm springs he lost control of his car which jumped the median and skidded to a stop on the shoulder of the westbound side he called hurts which came to collect the damaged car and gave him a second rental the hertz rental officer told me he found a crack pipe in the car and on one of the consoles a line of white powder residue beau Biden's Attorney General badges on the dashboard hertz called the Prescott police department and officers filed a narcotics offense report listing items seized on the card including a past plastic bag containing white powdery substance a secret service business card credit cards and hunter Biden's driver's license that is what we would call evidence and I don't want to make light of anybody's substance abuse issues I know presidents working real hard to solve those throughout the country but it's a little hard to believe the charisma hired hunter Biden to resolve their international disputes when he could not resolve his own dispute with hertz rental car over leaving leaving cocaine into crack pipe in the dark it continues hunter stayed in Los Angeles for about a week he said that he needed to get away and forget soon after his arrival in LA he said he asked a homeless man in person you can square where he could buy crack under said that the man took him to a nearby homeless encampment where a narrow passageway between tense someone put a gun to his head before realizing that he was the buyer you refer he returned to buy more crack a few times that week again not saying you're not casting any judgment on any challenges someone goes through their personal life but it is just hard to believe that this was the guy wandering through homeless encampments five crack it was worth eighty six thousand dollars a month it's a very small holding and that might be one of the reasons why what ABC asked hunter Biden Hey you think you would have gotten this job in the absence of your dad being the vice president well he said probably not to the record evidence and I look to the testimony of Mr can't Mister Kent was one of the witnesses they called on the first day he said the reason it was so dirty that our own embassy had to pull out of a joint sponsorship with them when a bass your bondage was being prepped for her Senate confirmation the Obama administration was so worried about the corruption around to respond hunter Biden that they held special prep moments to try to get ready for the inevitable questions about this obvious corruption that the president asked about Mr can't again one other witnesses from the first day also gave testimony that the re small had stood at the head of breeze might still want twenty three million dollars in U. in the US and the UK and that he paid a bribe to get off the hook so again it's not as if Marie CMOS pulling out new plays their playbook as to do dirty stuff and then go and pay bribes and hire the people necessary to make those problems go away this is why the minority hearing issue is so important by the way you you wonder why Republicans are so angry that we didn't have a hearing put on our own witnesses in own evidence and you may wonder why what they feel so good about their case why did they block our ability to put in evidence it's because we have the ability to show that the response is corrupt we have the ability to show that hunter Biden is corrupt and not totally actual page the quote the president because there is no way in the United States of America that honestly pursuing actual corruption is an impeachable offense that my friends was Democrat represented not gates exposing hunter Biden stark history of corruption we'll have more on that coming up on the Ben Ferguson show much more the highlights they the Democrats in the house Judiciary are debating impeachment articles before the vote and it's getting nasty and partisan will have all a lot more on this coming up it's a bent Ferguson joke six hundred to be are you see a ninety two point one FM this is it your last chance to get a great holiday gift this decade but time is ticking luckily for you dial in Intel have assailed and two thousand nineteen on a high.

"Some people say it's the two of Staff Mick Mulvaney and then of course there are a lot of people who say no it's just trump himself and as with the galaxy situation if the president can be convinced of it and once he's on board so congressman look your leaders here of the Democratic Party and according to our reporting look you you all have you know pretty much you're not gonNA expect anyone to show up voluntarily or maybe fact that she's no longer operating within the umbrella of the Department of State you are going to see cooper nation moving forward from Patriotic Americans who understand that the wrongdoing that occurred here by Donald Trump undermined on national security undermined the integrity of our elections undermine the United States constitution that's what people are still so you think because she's no longer a current employee she can she'll be able to defy their requests so that is correct quest has no basis in law and so their ability to restrict people who are no longer within the umbrella of the trump administration is limited in fact it's nonexistent okay so there are small but influential group of Democrats who are now some of them privately but some of them publicly saying the house should go ahead and hold impeachment inquiry vote that the president you know in his letter said you have to do that or else and you know it doesn't say he's GonNa cooperate if you all do it but obviously it was done for Clinton it was done for Nixon there is in for it although not constitutionally required here to Democrats today I do think that it's time for us to put a vote on the floor resolution for the inquiry structured in such a way that it can move forward with full power of the Congress behind it I'd love to remove that as a talking point or you're a reason for the kind of destruction that you're seeing from the president so you're the chair of the House Democratic Caucus you're talking to everybody all the time what are you hearing is they're gonna be vote well the support still exists for the position that Speaker Pelosi has articulated in the strong fast and she's a constitutional so the speaker of the House is one of the few positions actually mentioned in the United States Constitution when she declared that we are in the midst of an impeachment inquiry that has the full force and weight of the United States Constitution and we also know that the overwhelming majority of the House Democratic Caucus and one independent in the Congress support impeachment so majority in terms of the inquiry so a majority of the House of Representatives support constitutionally of course I guess the question is politically right as as better work said get rid of the talking point where they say you did it for Clinton you did for Nixon why not do it now what are you afraid of you know d. d do you end worried that you'll end up being in that position I know that would give them the ability to call witnesses they could call Hunter Biden I you know obviously there's concerns that you have but do you think it's possible that it is expectation and as a speaker has consistently indicated we're gonNA treat president trump fairly we just want to get to the bottom of what occurred with this whole sordid episode present that to the American people because we believe the facts are on the side of serious wrongdoing having occurred and the question really is what is the president afraid of he's GonNa continue throw up procedural roadblocks to US uncovering evidence if he has nothing to hide stop hiding from the American People Mike Pompeo Mike Pence the secretary of the Attorney General Rudolph Giuliani all of the president's men continue to hide from the American people because they can't address the substance of the allegations here which is the undermining of our national security all right thank you very much cashman Jeffries I appreciate your time and and out front next trump challenging the way Democrats are conducting the impeachment investigation you can't have lures you can ask questions again buddy president so is there anything to that or not the experts are next what's the vice president and the breaking tonight president trump lashing out against house democrats as he stonewalls their impeachment inquiry the president hedging when asked whether he cooperate if they hold a vote to authorize the investigation we would if they give us our rights it depends if they vote and you can't have lawyers you can ask questions again have anybody present all of these crazy things and even some of the reports to me it really is an unfair situation upfront now Greg brower former assistant director for the office of Congressional Affairs at the FBI under president trump and former republican state lawmaker and Milgram former New Jersey attorney general and CNN legal analyst and Doug Brinkley Excuse me CNN presidential historian Evan Prizes also with me our senior justice correspondent so great let me start with you the president says even journalists are telling me I mean it's just unbelievable right we have lawyers asked questions of people present he calls the whole inquiry unfair is there any truth to that higher. I would say there is not any truth to that and I'm not a journalist but I would guarantee you that not a single journalist has said anything like that other it is not unlike a grand jury investigation and the criminal context where the Department of Justice conducts its own investigation in secret that targeted investigation has no opportunity to call witnesses or even really know what's going on but rest assured when that criminal defendant is charged if he or she is charged this case if the president is impeached he will then be able to present witnesses present evidence and and that process in the Senate looks much more like a trial but this process impeachment in court inquiry process is not that an aunt I think this is really significant because the President keeps saying that Oh the fact that it's done in secret the fact that we can't call witnesses as if that's that in of itself is is is unfair right a lot of people at home look at that they go okay but it's just laid out no greg did a great job of explaining it is this process the congressional process at this moment in time it is like a grand jury investigation and the investigation is the most important word I'm in that they're gonNA gather documents they're going to interview witnesses oftentimes they'll depose witnesses before they even call them before the committee and remember those committees are bipartisan and witnesses go before the committee whether it's closed door republic those individuals are being questioned by both Democrats and Republicans that's the investigation at the point that impeachment is not now right so so okay so exposed that as not true what he's saying there I mean the The House Speaker is really resisting calls to hold that vote new heard Congressman Jeffrey saying they're they're all towing the line on that although we've heard some Democrats come out and say they should vote so she's responded to that White House letter you know the one that they said absolutely we will not cooperate eight at all the White House should be warned this is her today the continued efforts to hide the truth of the president's abuse.

"An America where you only need one job to pay the bills with a government partial government shutdown now over federal workers who missed their last two paychecks are looking forward to getting the money. They're owed this week on Capitol Hill, Republican and democratic lawmakers are getting ready for new to go on the thorny issue of funding for border security, keeping in mind that they're now supposed to come up with an agreement by February fifteenth acting White House chief-of-staff, Mick Mulvaney, says the president is preparing for another government shutdown, and is challenging the Democrats chance to the Democrats to prove whether or not they really do believe in border security and are willing to go against dancy Pelosi or whether or not they are so beholden to their leadership that they're never going to vote for for barrier on the southern border. The head of the House Democratic caucus came Jefferies says his party does wanna make America's borders, more secure. But he says it's dead set against the kind of wall. The President Trump campaigned on building what we want to support over the next few weeks. Is twenty-first-century border security. So we're willing to invest in additional infrastructure, particularly as it relates to our legal ports of entry. We're willing to invest in personnel. We've only to invest in additional technology. Mick Mulvaney, appeared on Fox News Sunday congressman Jeffrey, Spokane NBC's, meet the press the record thirty five day. Partial government shutdown has cost the US economy at least six billion dollars. According to a report from SNP global ratings. It's more than the five point seven billion dollars. President Trump was demanding for a border wall. Burt Ely is a banking consultant and believes the economy took a much bigger hit shutdown economy is going to be very difficult to estimate, but I suspected far more than six billion dollars. President Trump has already threatened another government shutdown in less than three weeks. If a deal isn't made he's also considering declaring a national emergency which would allow him to use money allocated to other services for the wall. Like funding that's been earmarked to help with disaster recovery. Roger stone president. Trump's longtime ally and former advisor continues to assert his innocence after his arrest on charges of obstruction of Justice lying to congress and tampering with witnesses. Prosecutors say he lied about his pursuit of hacked emails damaging to Hillary Clinton's two thousand sixteen presidential campaign. But speaking on ABC's this week with George Stephanopoulos. Stone says he did nothing wrong. If there's wrongdoing by other people in the campaign that I know about which I know of none. But if there is I would certainly testify honestly, I'd also testify honestly about any other matter, including any communications with the president. It's true that we spoke on the phone, but those communications are political in nature. They're benign, and there's there's certainly no conspiracy with Russia presidents, right? There is no rush. And he's never suggested to you in any way, shape or form that you that he might offer. You a pardon absolutely, positively not Burbank congressman, Adam Schiff, who's the chair of the house intelligence committee appeared on the same broadcast. Sane stone will need a strong defense and. And must answer some tough questions. If there were innocent explanations for all of this. Why all the lies why all the repeated efforts to get Russia and help? And of course, you have this symmetry of interest here where Donald Trump wants help from the Russians with his campaign. He wants help from the Russians to build this lucrative Moscow tower and the Russians want help from Donald Trump. They want sanctions relief. And all of this is going on at the same time.
