There were a couple a couple. Okay. Yeah. He's stuck me. Precisely the same time. Oh, that's companionship. Yeah. We need to get to our next guest. He's an automobile salesman. Although we don't know where he sells these automobiles have. It'd be my first question question. Do you have your first question locks loaded biz? And did what do you got? Okay. Well, you can save it go tell me what I was just gonna ask what kinds of cars. So that's good. Like, what brand do you mean or okay? Good size. Save that save that. Yes. Size mid-size. Yes. Is there? They compact midsize. And then what I think it's I think it's grown. Dave NT, David small. Do you have your first question, Danny? Yes. What is the best animal for? For what for driving animal to drive a car? All right. Save it. Okay. That'll be your first. All right. We all have her first questions. He's not a mobile salesman. Please welcome Gregory Smith. They have going. Look a lot of questions right out the gate because there's a lot of questions and a lot of clarifications. I gotta do you you maybe you you. You were saying I say automobiles, but actually I feel more than automobiles. I sell experiences and stories, and I said one automobile at a time because what I like to do is. I like to trade up a get a get automobiles would stories behind them like by. I automobile was from from from a mayor, Omar Bradley of County, California. I bought his call. And then I was like oh well concealed is. This is a story. This is the mayor. Did you go fly it if you didn't think you could tell it? Oh. Because I was like I knew I focus on one thing at a time. You just wanted to buy I wanted to buy it. But I was like I could sodas this brand is called as a, you know, a sold. It flipped it sold. It flipped it. Next thing. You know, got got George Wallace on heard you talking about George wells had his call. You know that was a good one. It was Cadillac DeVille. W-won't flipped it sold it for the did sold. It. What is the flipping involved before? You like you flip it and you sell it. Then you flip it again. Then you sell obviously when I sell you a car went about a car you had. So like, you know. Yes. So for example, if if you Scott all or baron, if you wanted to buy a my don't Danny out of this because that's the story. I don't want that. You're not you're not interested in his car. I don't I don't want that store. So okay. No, no offenses to you. And and what you got going on. But those are stories I'm trying to tell happy stories you have happy story. So when you buy a car, you're buying their story. Oh, yeah. Because I have a whole process. So when I meet say, so a meet you we're going we're going by by the com- Baio call. "There are of course, Americans that go across workshops in Mexico. There are many Mexicans that come across every morning with the right documentation and do jobs in the United States. There is a school bus stop right there at the end of the bridge it picks up American children American foreign at six forty five every morning and transports them to American schools and every afternoon it drops them out there. They walked back across that bridge. There are people who take whatever's across that bridge. There are skateboarders that go across that bridge. There is a bike lane on that bridge. This bridge is just part of their lives. Take a look at this. You've got the Bhutto, right? Here. And then this is Elizabeth street. It's not mainstream. But there are many many independent mom and pop businesses that are thriving on this street every single day and ninety percent of their customers are Mexicans which means if the border closes, those businesses shut down not just because they have no customers because they won't also have any employees because many of their employees also come across and work here. The thing that strikes you most is that this border right here is just so ordinary Anderson. So you talked about that businessman who cancelled his meetings for for tomorrow. Are you seeing people preparing for a border closing just in case? Yeah. I mean, the business is one example. But then on top of that students, for instance, high school students there is testing the takes place in Texas next week Tuesday. It's part of you know, how you have to pass to advance. There are students who are scared that they won't make their tests. So they're gonna live with family members over here at least in the short term. So they can make sure they can continue their education. You also see appear to be people stocking up buying more goods by more groceries because they're almost preparing for a disaster. Again, you know, the fact that people go across that bridge. They'll go for like twenty minutes at a time. Maybe they'll go see their mom, maybe they go to the dentist. Maybe they just buy some food and come on back this bridge this border for the everyone here is just the way their life is and it could suddenly broccoli and overnight. And quite frankly, there's nothing they can do. And that's what scares them most and earn savage. Appreciate it Martin. Thanks very much. What to get more perspective now from someone who's done a lot of reporting for the border as well. As along the route of the Central American caravans division. Anchor or hey Ramos. The president's saying today that if congress doesn't fix the problem, he's not ruling out closing the border by next weekend. I mean, does this make any sense to you the idea that he actually could close the border and by closing the border. He obviously is just really means. The points of entry. It doesn't make any sense for me. It simply a presidential tantrum. Because if he wants to close the border, and that means basically close on the ports of entry. Then these thousands of immigrants that are waiting on the Mexican side I've to go through the this or through yoga or through the mountains. And then the problem is simply going to increase it really doesn't make any sense whatsoever. He has to do many different things at this point. He's government. These preventing thousands of immigrants from entering the United States legally because he's only process a few hundred. Process obligations for political asylum ports of entry. So he doesn't make any sense whatsoever to cross the border right now. What is so strange about our I guess it should be just normal by now. But but the president's statements that about cutting off aid to Guatemala to El Salvador tuhan doors. What's so interesting about them is it is the complete opposite of what his own administration officials would sector Nielsen has been focusing on which is or one of the things she's been focusing on which is trying to improve connections between the United States and those countries and program improve programs that will stop people from actually being motivated to leave. She had just signed this accord on on Wednesday, the press release went out on Thursday talking about you know, that that we're stronger together. And then on Friday, the president basically cuts her off the knees, and he doesn't make any sense because the wars president from condu-. If he wants to prevent more immigrants from coming to the United States. It would be to stop financial aid.

Don't forget there in the midst of government shutdown. So the normal White House chef isn't going to be there. So the president said we'll just hear it from his own words. Here's President Trump. So if I went to the White House, I tried to think what I want would want to eat, you know, I actually don't hate go in and having McDonald's and Burger King and shit like that with the president. Most times a week on many times, would you go and be like one the big halls, and they just have a couple of big Macs thrown about fuck and chicken nuggets some pizza. And what was great was in the video, you could tell he thought everyone looked at him like, you're joking. Right. And he's like nano. I really mean it this is what we're serving would. "All right. So this is my third year covering geek, girl. Con what am I favor? It local conventions of which we have like sixty convinced for choice in this city. We really are fortunate. Yeah. There's there's like a con a month or every three every like it really is every three weeks fasting same with film festivals in a fifty two week year. We have I think forty nine film festivals. Not. I mean like, yes, there's the big one. There's and there's we've Romanian film festival. We have the both the Asian Seattle agent film festival in the Seattle South Asian film festival. And it's pretty cool. Deduction the Romanian film festival. I think just happened or is happening soon madness. Yeah. But with geek girl con, yes. This is now your I want to say eighth year, or this is in ninth this number eight this is number eight. Yes. And you have been involved for seven seven seven years. Yeah. Which is I mean incredible one quick observation that I noticed. This was the first year where when I got here on Saturday morning the line outside. Was it was. Around the building around the building. And that just is crazy. We had staff members who were showing up a little later because they didn't have to be here. Like right at ten nine AM, and they walked into the staffroom, and they're like have you seen the line? Really know why it's still around like yellow around to pike. I think the back kind pine confused. Yeah. And it was the first time. I was like, wow. We had a lot of walkup. Yeah. Take pass sales Seattle lights who didn't really want to commit until the day of. Yes. This is my surprised face. Yeah. So we were very pleased. And no one really complained. Everyone was fine. And then I think Byron eleven thirty or noon, we got the excited. Message over the radio official. There is no more line outside the building. Everyone's like oh. And put it in perspective, the doors opened at ten that. Yeah. The doors have been so that is almost two hours of people just waiting and that was a mean, it was just incredible to walk up. And mean seeing it for the past even the past three years seeing a grow as much as it has especially on Saturday. Yes. Sunday with condu- never really or regardless of win. It is. But usually Sundays the last day of the con-. Yes. It is always a crap shoot. You never really know. Yeah. Is it going to be the day where all of them don't know to do with? It is shuttered. Oh, this is all the stuff that no one's gonna really want to do in its Sunday. Or is it actually going to be programming? That's going to be interesting. And then oh, hey, wait. I wanna see the insert cool thing here. So it was Saturday being as crazy busy as it was Sunday was still busy. But it was manageable. Yes. And that is one of the biggest thing that I talk about every year when I cover geek, girl Khan, not only is this one of the most accessible cons, even though there are escalators like crazy everywhere. But as far as you can walk around anywhere. And there are some bigger costumes that I thought there was they need the whiff there one guy he had and I forgot to take a picture of huge shoulder pads that came out of ways, and he was a taller guy. So actually, luckily he missed a lot of people because the shoulder pads went above their heads. Wow. I did not see that. He definitely dinged. A couple people news super Pala jedinak. But in general there is space. Yes. And people are mindful of this base. And if they inadvertently elbow you like is they're trying to get there's not like I've been to the other two conventions that are the major straight. Is it okay? To say there and Paxton emerald city. And one year has moved several years ago. I spoke on a panel emerald city, and it took me not hyperbole took me an hour to get from Soto to the parking garage because of the gridlock, and I'm just like I'm gonna miss the panel. And I made it there with six minutes to spare and I'm just like Iran, and my face was as red as my hair, and I'm like..

"That's why we're it today. We had started the program, and we have just a few minutes remaining. So if we can just kind of put a bow on rail on second part of the show. What do you see happening next while more delay? And then it depends which what's the appetite of the city council. Now, the heart can posture the mayor can posture, but only the city council really approve another bone Foale floated can boots can approve some diversion of funds from the water and sewer funds. You know, they got funds they can divert, and they can they can do things, you know, they're the congress of the city. So they called him the purse will they do it. Some of them seem to have the appetite to get the job done completely done. But then on the other hand, nobody seems to be talking real solutions, such as you know. Okay. Let's cut the bleeding and in order to cut the bleeding kind. Satisfy everything tried to work out a deal for middle street. I don't know if the discussion will come to that point that is positive if you come dot point, I'm willing to help because you know, I'm I'm not for stopping or crashing or demolishing the rail anymore. Middle street is. Recent is a decent compromise. And it will help you do options after that point get us to the next level. What do we do after that point? But we have to make a brave decision. Cut the bleeding. Stop the funding discussed with extra finding stop with the guys with the FDA. What is going to be involved? Now, how much of the seven fifty there would be willing to release because obviously there are at least all of it because we're not doing the full enchilada. And if FDA says, okay, you got what you got in we're done. Okay. Everybody's done. We're done at middle street and everything is good. I talked with my friends in real estate. And there is it's speculative that the next area as of development, and growth, etc. Is going to be colle-. Yes, it makes sense that you would have a population center in the future that would be served by a direct rail as the hub for the continuation of surface, right fair's. Predation has that ever come up that that would help in the development of the cle- district. Well, there isn't really so many stations about it. And golly, they're just two stops. And. Is the humbug of getting all of that? And eventually, you know, Kalicki, I don't know. I mean, we have to look at the surveys pupil in Khaliq in the future people in color, you what are they going to be working? What kind of employment is going to be what kind of the there is denser development. They're going to have for working people. I suspect a lot of the jobs are either once and in one side in Waikiki and other industrial, you know, out Campbell, and what have you so well, it will help Mideast middle street is enough as a circulator, but then in town at good circulated of buses to Waikiki because Waikiki again Waikiki does not a the rail. They wanted to the edge of it. Maybe, you know, the convention center, etc. But again Waikiki doesn't look particularly pretty Kalac, always fine. But once you go it's extremely trying to train it. I mean, really trained Doku wherever. At some point. Even you know, Faisal was talking. Let's do it underground. Well underground is an extremely expensive proposition because you're totally building everything under the waterline. Right. So it's possible to be done, but it's gonna be very very expensive. We have just a couple of minutes wanna make sure that Scott from has some time with Dr Scott, you're on with Rick immodest Cardi B in the morning. Aloha. Gentleman. How you doing today right today? Thanks for the call. Hi, good. Just a brief comment. Was you mentioned two billion dollars missing in your in your estimated budget there. Right. We know there's not a foot of copper, neither condu- wouldn't that. Wouldn't they need that much money to build a power plant full the copper to run that thing? No, not so much snow the power plant in the order of five hundred and fifty to two hundred fifty million dollars will will will be more than sufficient if we for example, trash we could put another big boiler h powered and that would solve most of the problem. So the power plant is not in that magnitude and the electrical equipment like the mini-generators. They need the traction. They call him in order to bring the trains at the station in case that the hee-koo system has a major failure. Those are still pray. They're priced into systems thing. So, yeah, I I don't see that that being the the gap. Well, I'm sure they'll find a way to spend it. No, yeah. Definitely actually the ad spending it because I think they're paying three people to do the amount of work of one in some contracts, and that's what is going on. Well, thanks for your time. Gentlemen. Appreciate it. No, thank you for the participation. You take his right down to the bottom of the hour. Just like that. Here you go. I don't play the flute personally, but my husband plays clarinet, bass clarinet, and when we were first getting to know each other, he asked me she make a glass piece for his clarinet. At the time. I was a glass blower. It never occurred to me to make anything for musical instruments, and I don't know that I was ever able to make that part for him, but he is still playing the clarinet, the bass clarinet in a few bands to this day. "In this case, it was Theresa May take a kneecapping over a check his proposals, the music at Salzburg, yesterday Thursday, they was deliberately the way they do. The west is the British library, which is almost exactly where we recorded two sets of emergency for cuts in rather. Bickers thing Theresa May's about to make dining street announcement, obsolete. This is she's gonna make a Downing Street, and now you've got to get on a train. Yes. And this is why we do it now. The whole thing is prone for disasters achieving a moment that Theresa is not going to stand up, say, screw the lot of you. Yeah, I what happened yesterday in Salzburg, that is, we'll have Cohen. And so nothing changed in terms of objective reality. They've always been quickly. Comedy, get anywhere with check on a tone. Checkers just takes the goods part, the single market. And actually you can have that bit. There isn't dreams may propose. It's not because she likes it basically because it's the only way you can join up around the back of the backstop proposal fraud and actually make sure the some kind of system that keeps you together. Whoa, satisfying that aspect of it. It's never been ago. We've always known that everyone from every perspective on this thing knows to go. We presume that even in Downing Street, I know it's not a go. Well, it's, they've always been very clear someone a web, but they usually bit more conciliatory bit more positive because they're trying to shore up support yesterday. Something changed that nine which became much of this people out there, saying washing of changes today, the same along the lines of what they did before looking at it in context, it was a much more bruising counter than she was expecting that they had led her to believe she would get. We're not entirely sure why it seems that she really caught Bobby misjudge the speech he made to them ten minute speech made at the end of the dinner on the first night with it's four hours all over immigration. She comes in this very boring speech, basically reading on the Oscar, she'd written for German newspaper. Again, there have been a new each them trying to sort of divide European need is a strategy. We can fudge that into oblivion. Just go, well, look, it's going to be a wonderful future of the two of us economically. You don't really say with your lining and that allowed the battery take place. "Yeah, I definitely have. It's something that's talked about a lot, and I'm gonna get into something a little New England to their about that. But like I that jumped out to me to Kyle, expects to call the play against the defense. He's inked, you're gonna play. I mean, that's how highly he thinks of himself and his study, and he demands himself to go, no, I think they're gonna run this coverage. That's why I called this play. And but if I did, he literally put formations to draw a certain type of coverage. He knows the tendencies of exactly right if he's in and he goes, oh, I motioned the guy over here. Then they go to this coverage and he's he's all over. That's why he is great at what he's done. Chess it is. He's playing chess, yes, you have to be able to adjust on the fly. And I think the other point where I was going to go with their, it's just hatred. Yeah. The patriot like knowing this is always jumped out to me about Bella check and even my time of mcdaniels they didn't want the coaches to over coach, especially on the field, right? Like, oh, things are messed up. Let's not stop. Practice because the secondaries talking to themselves and they can't figure out the call. No, let them fuck up the call and we'll teach them when we watch it in the meeting room and they got to learn to fix these things on the fly, just like, so there's not being a robot. It was my point. Otherwise, you can't coach him during the game. Like you'd be crazy how many times in my career teams go blow the whistle, stop it. Let's make sure we get all on the same page. No, these are teaching moments, right? So it's not always tell you the right answer. You'll never learn why you're wrong. Exactly. Bill would. That's where I always took away from New England to Bill made practice hard. Like I would Jon Gruden. The offense was scripted to look good every day. Our quarterback completed nine out of every ten passes and you know, the offense looked great and I called plays. That are great, and but yet he also told the defense to be certain coverages for those plays. That's what they would do and used to try to Derrick Brooks crazy. Oh, here we go scripted for success. We would never. Coverage against this formation. He used to yell shit like that, and I'd be like, damn, okay. Well, we, why are we call this? But John Wanda work it, whatever he had his reasons. But the one thing I always took away from New England is no, we're not here to make everybody feel warm and cozy everyday after relational football are going through struggles for a certain period of practice it, it's going to happen during the quarter of a game. Yeah, you know, we played the first second quarter third quarter, we laid eggs, and then we had a regather self to come out and play strong in the fourth and it's crazy. I'll little things like, actually, I know I started watching. Last chance you season three, which it gave me so much anxiety. I got through like two and a half episodes. It's like if a bag man at a major university condu- university, that while he was like the assistant d. line coach like he could be the head coach and it's it's crazy that practice. He's just yelling and that first game they start to just get like absolutely destroyed and he's looking. He's just going figure it out. Figure it out. You guys got to figure it out and you guys, you need to figure it out. And I'm like, what are you doing? You're the worst coach of all time. But I think about what you're saying and how Bella check works with situational situational coaching. His team is prepared for every moment, right? There's nothing they're not prepared for them except for apparently passed to the quarterback, Philly, Philly, Philly, Philly, which is amazing. But no, that's why even see you've seen Bill and the game, right?.
