"Jimenez. Not for sale according to fine order. What do you think? Something nothing or everything. Everything, can I start off with how? So if you don't know, then it's the closer his wife is Mexican, so he's got obviously very in touch with the Mexican culture and I've seen this interview in two different languages and Spanish Leona kanda did it in Spanish 30 minute interview and now this response in English and they both are very different. To the same question. In Spanish, ilo mexicano comes out and he says his own opinion would be for Santa Jimenez. To stay another year. He's got to get better and develop a few things. He's being carefully guided by his family by his camp by Faye in order there's a project from et cetera, et cetera, in his belief, he should stay. In English, maybe it's because there's Dutch Ness comes out, he's more blunt in these just like, no, not for sale, that's not what we're doing. He's not going anywhere. And it's a complete one 80 of the feeling I got from Spanish, but it's very clear. They see a vision for Santiago Jimenez. He's the CEO of Faye and also he's got valuable input here. What I will say is, it doesn't matter what Dennis the closest is. I know he's the CEO, but if there's a right offer on the table today at the end of this season, for Santiago Jimenez and it exceeds their expectations, good business is good business. And if Santiago gimenez and his camp feel that the offer is good as well and feanor says, you know what? It works for us. He gone. And football is the mementos, like soccer football is about the moment. And right now is his moment. Anything can happen. Do you recall the 18 to 20 months when raul Jimenez was absolutely killing it. Killing it for Wolverhampton. 1820 months, he's never had before in his career. Kind of like Santa Jimenez today. He had an unfortunate incident with David Luis clash aheads that changed his life forever. And now instead of being on the tip of the Tottenham's of the world, now instead of being the tips of some of the best club setups in the world and leagues in the world, he's out of commission and he's not gotten back to where he was. Those opportunities are gone. Football is like that. So if you have an opportunity in that moment in the opportunity meet and it's good business or feign or I don't care what dentist it calls it says this can go one 80 again. When he says not for sale, so bluntly, it does feel like everything, right? At least for this summer, but I actually feel like it's a little bit more towards nothing. I'm not sure if you will disagree with me here, but when I hear a sporting director come out and say, not for sale, I don't hear not for sale. I hear, don't come with any week offers, right? I hear a little bit of posturing there, right? Exactly. Bring the money and then we'll have a real conversation whether you're going to get Santiago Jimenez or not. The other thing about not having offers, that could just be down to timing, right? We're not in the window where you would be getting offers. That to me is more an issue of semantics. So I'm not worried about this being like, oh, Santiago Jimenez is not going to leave this summer. But I know you hurt based on our previous conversations on this show. Must at least disagree with Dennis to closer when he says this guy needs more seasoning in the air to visit. I personally don't mind if he stays another year, but you have been very, very clear. You think he needs to leave now? Yeah, because I know the easy response from a lot of doubters about it is going to be like, he's got Champions League with fame or next season. So he's going to be playing Champions League. All right, he's going to be guaranteed the group stage, but go through some of the list of the teams in the Champions League. It's not all Juventus is not PSG. It's not all around Madrid or man city. It's not a Leipzig. You're going to have your macabre in there. You're going to have your rangers. You're going to have yourself. You're going to have truck truck to Nash. You're going to have all these different types of teams, Bruges, if you will, that, okay, great. Champion Zeke, but if you're playing in the Bundesliga or playing the Premier League, instead of a three game window against some of these teams, what you may get tested and maybe great platform, you could have 38 weeks of actually being tested in an amazing platform. And a setup when you're playing other competitions as well, I just think opportunities like this don't come around very often. And what's he going to show you if he has another 15 goal season in the area to visit? What's he going to show you? I mean, what's that going to prove? I say this with all respect, doll due respect to their dizzy. There have been goal scorers who scored lots of gold in the area to visit and it doesn't translate elsewhere. I think he needs a test himself. Santiago Jimenez and fine or closing in on a title in the air to visit and you can watch him go for that trophy this weekend right here on ESPN+ taken on herc's favorite team. Go ahead, eagles. "Done that like his father Christian Jimenez who's a legend in league iMac is the former Boca juniors man. He was big in pachuca. He was big and crucial. He's been there done that so he knows the athletes playbook. He knows what to say, what not to say. You will never say it's not Mexico if you play for Mexico. Is he right? Not right now. No. And I could probably slice this up in three ways, like on paper and bear with me on paper step, you could say, and he is the United States men's national team, okay? They won the last Nations League. They won the last goal cup with the C team if you will. They're the only team in concave to make it out of the group stage in Qatar and the World Cup. They've got the biggest, most expanded player pool of them all. But I don't think they're the ones in the best moment. Now, if you've talked about the best moment for me, I would probably go with Canada and now I know that Canada crashed out of the World Cup, if you will, but I've already gone through that group and what that group is and saying group with two semi finalists, one old runner up in the last World Cup, the golden geration of Belgium, et cetera, et cetera, they got the best player in concave in Alfonso Davies. They got the best coach trying money in John herdman. They probably have the best team and most favorites in June for my money as well. But if you're going off history and popularity and fan base, without a doubt, it's Mexico. So how do you want to slice this? I mean, anybody can go eat either way they want. So I've got no issue with it. All this is pretty much made up BS if you are, it's what you feel because unless there's a team that runs this table for the next two decades, I think we're going to keep having this conversation. Yeah. I mean, is wrong to say it, right? Mexico right now or not. To your point, they have the weakest of the three arguments, I think, to claim kind of the top spot in Concacaf. No doubt about that. The other thing for him is he hasn't really been part of the setup. So he's not really in that regard, so capacitated to speak on who the giant of Concacaf is. But if I'm a Mexico fan, I don't mind this one bit. I don't mind it because I want somebody somewhere to be defiant in the face of Mexican football slide down the Concacaf pecking order. And if it's Santiago Jimenez, great. Because the last time around as Canada and the United States were clearly moving past Mexico, the vibe that we got, not just from the players, but specifically from the manager Tata martino was, well, it's not that big a deal. Guests to whom it is a big deal that you be the best in your neighborhood. The fans. So Mexico fans are gonna love this to your point from Santiago Jimenez. It's defiance. It may be foolish defiance, but somebody in Mexico is planning a flag in the ground and saying, no, we are still the top dog, or at least we believe it. And I love that as a fan. You know what, I understand what you're saying, so but I can't think of one Mexican player that would say it's not Mexico. That's a reality. They're probably the only nation. They only pull where, let's say there's 25 in that pool, 25 on that team. All 25 would tell you they are the Giants of cocktail. I don't think it gets, I don't think Canada would say the same all 25, and I don't think the U.S. would say the same. There may be some doubting there may be some more political answers, but I guarantee you all 25 in Mexico would say that. Even if it's not the reality. Right, may not be the giant, but certainly still facing the most pressure. Let's get back to Santiago Jimenez herc and his future because as we mentioned, Lola canda also spoke to Dennis the closer who had some very interesting comments about the clubs approach with Jimenez this summer. Let's listen in. Well, definitely something has done a great job so far. He's been here for almost a year. He's developed very well. As our point of attack at the moment, we have three more games to go where it's hugely important to get one win out of the upcoming three games. We hope to get it on Sunday. Santiago, I think as adapted very well. He's an important player for us. He is not for sale. We're not interested in listening to any offers or discussing any any possible sale this summer. But apart from that, we always work as closely with the family and everybody around him to make him feel comfortable and definitely there is no interest from our side to put him into the market or do anything. I think also in his own best interest, this is still not a moment. I think there's still room for further development. I think there's still room for further adaptation to the league and to Europe. So we also think that apart from our own interests that obviously we would like to keep him here and we want to keep him here. I think in his best interest, it's also very good to be a little bit patient to further develop into to become the great striker that everybody thinks he can be or already is becoming

"Things you'll be keeping an eye on her is the upcoming under 20 World Cup. Now, 9 days away, I think the first games down in Argentina, U.S. drop in their roster on Wednesday, it's a 21 player list along with three alternates for the manager Mike Ivan as for those asking remember, Mexico did not qualify for this tournament. These are the players who are coming here, but critically clubs are not obligated to release their players for this event. And a couple MLS clubs did just that. Chicago fire with multiple players and then LA galaxy with Jalen Neal. Her are you cool with MLS clubs? Not releasing their players for the under 20 World Cup. Yeah, this is what we gotta bring some context to it, right? Because it's are you cool with clubs not releasing players? I mean, I'm cool with clubs not releasing players, right? Like if you had a majority of players playing a Chelsea, PSG, Juventus, like big clubs or European setups, you'd be like, don't release them. They're gaining valuable minutes. I can see why you wouldn't really sound. Some of these clubs, maybe if they're not a big setups, they're fighting relegation. I can see why they won't want to let them go. But the reality is, I'm not cool with Major League Soccer clubs saying, no, we won't release you because what's the worst that's going to happen? These teenagers that you sorely depend on are going to make you lose a game or two and then you're going to get really, no, that's not going to happen. Listen, at some point, optics matter, right? You don't have a player pool like France where France can say we don't have what we won't give 20 players the ability to play in this U 20 World Cup and it doesn't matter because France has won something. The U.S. has never been anything or one anything at the international stage at the world level. It would be nice for some of these kids to compete. It would be nice for some of these kids who are in Major League Soccer to know that if they do well, they can be rewarded and go on an international platform and show they showcase themselves to the world. That's not been the case here. And what sucks for these kids is I'll repeat it. It's nothing's going to happen if these teams lose games. Nothing's going to happen if these kids don't get their minutes there. Instead of a U 20 World Cup, the opposite of that may happen if they do. Maybe they go on a run like a Josh sergeant did in the U 17s and he parlays that into going from club soccer to Shaka. Or is it Bremen? It's Brennan. Maybe something like that can happen. But the only thing you're doing right now is you're just pissing people off. You're pissing players off and as soon as these homegrown territories no longer is it exists, players will talk and they'll say, you know what? Philly's a good club because not only will they develop you, but they'll let you go out and play, but if you're out and prove yourself, we'll give you that platform elsewhere. And the clubs who don't, they will remember that, so there will be some winners and losers out of this eventually. It's not just MLS clubs, right? To be fair, Paxton aronson is with Frankfurt. They're going to keep him, but there's a huge difference. We're in May here in the MLS season, a regular season that, to your point about relegation, hardly matters, right? Whereas in Germany there at the end of the season, in Frankfurt's case, they're fighting to maybe hopefully get a last spot in Europe, potentially something like that. That could be massive for a club like eintracht Frankfurt. You understand why they would want to keep him there. I really don't understand this hurt and it feels like more selfishness from Major League Soccer, right? Your point about relegation. The reason that MLS has and these clubs have that luxury, right? That they don't have to worry about getting sent down. It's because the federation protects them, the federation says we're going to have this system. We're going to have a close top division and nobody's going to fall out of it ever. So when the federation then comes knocking, the least you can do is give them your player so that the federation can go and then compete at the under 20 world cups. And to your point about the players man, that's where this is really, to me, kind of twisted. Like, you're robbing kids of a once in a lifetime opportunity. One just to represent their country in a World Cup. I know it's not the senior level, but it's still important. And on top of that, hurt, the showcase, you can not tell me for whatever we hear about MLS and how much people watch it all around the world. That three games in May and a few minutes you might get there is a better showcase for these kids in terms of the international market than the under 20 World Cup. I mean, that's just crazy to me. Yeah, and some of this just doesn't make sense. I mean, it was the Chicago fire announcing like Brian Gutierrez, be let go to the U 20 World Cup. And the very next game, he's not even starting. You know, he's not even on the field, so it makes you scratch your head. What are you doing here? But you're absolutely right. Some of these players. And then also to be fair, it's a case by case basis here because you could say Ricardo Pepe should be the top forward in this pool to help you win a U 20 World Cup, but Ricardo peppy should be nowhere near you 20 World Cup. He's already graduated as it's been correctly expressed, but it might be very. So case by case, but some of these cases just don't make any sense, especially when it comes to Major League Soccer. So kudos to Jim Curtin and the Philly union you continue to do things the right way. And I will repeat, I will echo this. The moment these homegrown territories are no longer lots of clubs are going to miss out because the true winners, the true winners, they're going to stick out and they will be noticed and that's where every kid will want to go. All right, hey, let's get to the bright side of the under 20 World Cup. Let's pick a prospect. Let's pick somebody that we think is going to be the standout player on this U.S. team down in Argentina and then kick off in 9 days time. Who are you picking? I'm picking quince Sullivan. This one was a pretty easy one for me. He's the most Euro ready. I

"A guy who used Major League Soccer to make the jump to Europe. He goes straight from the college game, Clemson to you. I think that's really, really valuable because you do get a non MLS perspective. And that's important at the federation level. To me, a Gucci oni whoo in this position can do a lot of good. I really like this hire her. Yeah, let me address, I see a lot of discourse about the good old boys, right? He's part of that good old boys club. He's part of that old regime. This is far removed from that old regime. He's not connected to anybody in the 1990s and those type of players, all the type of world cups. He hasn't had a crack or an opportunity within U.S. soccer. He's not part of this recycling revolving door that we see with some of these hires. I like this. This screams to me that they're trying something and Gucci's a respected figure. He's a known law, this type of guy. And he's been there and he's done that. So I love the opportunity that they're giving them, and I love where this is going. Yeah. The no nonsense is important because sometimes at the federation, you got to go in there and kind of call things out. And I think we know, you know, you know Gucci as a teammate. I've known him for a long time as well, just growing up in the D.C. area. This is a, to your, I would say no BS, you say no nonsense. And I think that's going to serve him really well. I think we also saw that when he was with Orlando city B, he was there for a very short time. We know Orlando city was an absolute disaster at that time. You can't work there. You move on. I think it's really good to have somebody who calls things out in these positions and Noguchi and at least from what I know about him. And I don't think I'm wrong here, herc is definitely that guy, right? He is. And we're going to give him the benefit of the doubt. Now it's up to him. Yep. All right, so Gucci and I were then taking over as the vice president of sporting a newly created war role for U.S. soccer. I'm sure one of

"Taking the open cup seriously. That said her. I do like more of what Rooney is saying here than I dislike that one part of it. Because I think he's calling out some people. He's calling out the New York Red Bulls. Why aren't you playing in your arena that you own? Why are we playing at montclair state? And he's also calling out D.C. United management. He's saying, why didn't we bid to host? And if people want to have a shot at Rooney here and say, wow, why don't you take the open cup more seriously? He's just taking the cues from his bosses. His bosses didn't even bid. What's he supposed to do? Well, I think he is taking it seriously. I mean, players health is serious, right? So I think that is serious. Now, I want to piggyback off something you said. You talked about D.C. United's terrible season when they actually did, well, in the open cup, look at the LA galaxy right now. The LA galaxy are a dumpster fire and they're watching their most bitter rival, they're hated rival play. They're about to play in the concave Champions League Final. Now, it took LAFC 34 games in the regular season, plus however many playoff games and penalty gives against Philadelphia union to get into that tournament. The LA galaxy right now have an opportunity in their eyes, the silver lining of this is a terrible season for us. We can't make any moves, but we can win some silverware. And not only can we win some silverware, a trophy, but in the process of winning this trophy, we can get to the concave Champions League in 7 games. That to me is taking it seriously. That to me should be the mindset of every single team that probably has no business sniffing around at MLS cup. This is your way of getting a trophy and getting to the promised land. The concave Champions League. So you can use this to your advantage as you were saying. Yeah, and from a decent united perspective, now all the pressures on the regular season, right? You got to make playoffs. You don't have an open cup to maybe alleviate some of that pressure. Let's take a look at the round of 16 draw her because we now know who will be facing off in a sweet 16

"The finals. Well, you should be slightly concerned because of how they ended the season, right? Versus boomers, they didn't play their best game versus Juarez in Juarez, but I was they didn't play their best game. They still, by the way, did not lose. But does this feel the same deficiencies seeping over for this team? It's the defensive line. Yeah, you got like you and you got Reyes, but then you had the two center back. It doesn't matter who the tandem is, whether or not it is. It's a mess. And they do have their defensive liberties that they will give up to you, but it's the same America team that we've seen. Going forward, it's fun to watch. It's easy on the eye. They're going to get plenty of opportunities, but they've done the same team all year. It's just that these last three games, if you will, it's been getting closer and closer to maybe a little fault. And that's why my lagoon has been one of the better players in the last couple of games. Yeah, I've touted Andreas on this show before. He was, I mean, absolutely awful in the first leg of this game. He gets the red card and they may be better off for it. I don't know that I'm excited about calling nesta rajo back into the starting lineup. I think he's going to pair alongside gas it is, but I think that's the best bet right now, because Reyes was really, really poor in this game. Real quick finish up. If I will just really quickly, you mentioned feed valuable. If you value being injured could be massive because he's a good cog in that midfield. And also Henri Martin Martin is the best player in league I Becky's all season. Pretty much for the better part of a year. Last season's in this season, he's that important to him. We don't know the extent of his injury and how long he could be out for if he is out. That could be a massive blow. What's it like to be one of the most sought after basketball players in the nation? "And who was 13, you come away with it thinking Santos was the best team Santos is the number one team in Liga mecki said that 13th team is Monterey, right? Because what I saw from monterrey was not fitting of a number one. They played not to lose. And this is why it bothers me that they're complaining about a last second penalty kit call. That's what they're hanging their hat on. They were thoroughly outplayed by Santos team who had no business being in the situation. If you remember the beginning of the season, when we were doing which league I make managers on the hot seat, we talked about Victor Manuel vucetich, potentially being on the hot seat, but then he got off to the great start and everything kind of seemed to go away. Let me ask you this. If I always do go out here, despite the incredible regular season against Santos, if ray Midas in danger. No, I don't think he's in danger. He's got a lot of credit with that franchise that club. He's got a lot of credit in monterrey. The golden years from Monterey were remedied as were part of the king Midas there, if you will. He's not going anywhere. If anything, new president Tata noriega, he's going to reinforce the team even more, give him another season to play with, but there is an understanding that they can't keep spending all this money and not have something in the show for it. It's good when they make it to the concave Champions League and have a good run, which they historically have done before, but they want the big one. They want Lion meckes. There's a power struggle within right now between the teams in Mexico City, the traditional powerhouses, and even chibas, if you will, and the new money, which is monterrey. Tigress and rayado de Monterey, so they need those titles and I think he's got one more season in him. If it doesn't happen this season. actually plans to construct a Bitcoin city and issue the world's first sovereign Bitcoin bonds And Bloomberg's Caroline height had a chance to ask Samson mull about it He CSO of a company called block stream And he actually spoke to her from the Concacaf volcano in El Salvador And the plan apparently is to use the energy from the volcano to power this Bitcoin city Caroline put him on the spot over the plans though especially the bonds part Let's listen in Coming live from us from a volcano because local volcano bonds to a certain extent because it's going to be financing this Bitcoin city that's on interest in surrounding this area of a volcano And I'm wondering why any institutional Bond investor would buy this Well why wouldn't they Because it's got a 6 and a half percent yield and your yield on your current bonds of El Salvador that come to you in ten years is 13% Yes but this is fun as a Bitcoin component And that is why it is called a Bitcoin Bond So when some of us raising $1 billion in this first bond issuance 500 million will be used to acquire Bitcoin And then 500 million will go towards energy and mining infrastructure So there is this war chest of Bitcoin backing this bond And that dividend or that coupon actually increases after the 5th year So for the first 5 years it will be 6.5% coupon But then it accelerates to what I call a Bitcoin dividend or a special dividend that is basically the Bitcoin being sold off the $500 million worth of Bitcoin being sold off gradually quarter by quarter So the El Salvador government will share that with the bondholders Why wouldn't institutional Bond investor was allowed to buy into this So had the ability within the rules of the fund they invest to have exposure to crypto Why wouldn't they just buy Bitcoin straight up rather than have a 50% take Well they could buy Bitcoin straight up but usually the mandates are charters don't allow them to hold cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin But there'd be allow to hold these bonds you think in their mandates Why not It's just a bond But it's not just a bond because it's related to Bitcoin And as you say 50% of it over a 5 year time frame if indeed you managed to pay that back would be able to be given based upon Bitcoin now So do you think those mandates would allow them to buy in Well that's really for them to figure out But we're trying to structure this in a way that they can present it to other boards their directors as a normal one Because it is a normal fund just happens to have a large chunk of Bitcoin But even if they don't buy it I don't really see a problem There is because market cap is one over a $1 trillion There's about a $145 billion worth of stable points And this is just from the Bitcoin industry traders whales And this money will just pour in I was in Turkey talking to my friend the CEO of BT's third Oscar And I told him about this plan I told him I'm going to go outside with our next and I thought about the bonds And in two seconds he said I'm in for a $1 million And then I said are you sure you want to think about it Do you want to see the specs Do you want to read more They say no this is for the people of El Salvador So the money will come in There's another way that I talk to just before coming on your show And he said I'll take 20 million of it Samsung is it not wrong to think that people shouldn't do that due diligence first Yeah they should do their due diligence but there is an important part here which is helping us Salvador And fixing the money supply And I think that's more important than the exact associations in a bot So you think even without institutional bond investors if they all perhaps driven away by the fact that the yield of solo relative to existing bonds or indeed they can't have exposure to Bitcoin Do you think it will be who will be the actual investor It will be more crypto focused enthusiasts and they'll be good for 1 billion I think there's more money than a billion that's going to flood into this bond The institutional investors they can come in They can do their due diligence 6.5% is in line with most bonds around the world And there is that special Bitcoin dividend So they can run the calculations At the end of ten years Bitcoin is a $1 million We've done a calculation where Bitcoin is appreciating 35% year over year Then the yield that year will be about 90% plus the 6.5% coupon But if it goes higher we had another conservative model we put it which put it at a 140% API plus a 6.5% coupon then it's a pretty attractive bond by any measure Definitely investors buttons versus crypto which I mean Bitcoin is up on an annualized basis 240% so you might be there for losing out to the opportunity costs are just getting into Bitcoin related exposure rather than going into this bond But something I'm interested that you're in Turkey you're an El Salvador Are there other countries Are there areas Municipalities looking at this with dare I say it perhaps political political risks that some just don't always willingly swallow Well there's risk in everything even.

"Let's look back on the us as nil-nil draw with el salvador in world cup qualifying match of the octogonal round of concacaf world cup qualifying and to look back on everything. That went down he's sebastian. Salazar and hercules gomez. Thank you very much all right. A million ways to break down this first match of the qualifying cycle for the us. Let's start first by analyzing not the performance but the result itself a scoreless. Draw away against salvadoran. The first of three. Are you satisfied with it. Satisfied wouldn't be necessarily the word it's acceptable right. It's this road formula you steal steal away and you secure points at home so if we're going by that formula team that didn't qualify last world cup because they failed to secure points at home because they failed to steal points away then. Yeah by that standard. I wouldn't say satisfied. But it's an acceptable result. So yeah acceptable i mean. Isn't this the most talented generation of us players ever. Isn't it also the most accomplished at club level of all time at some point. Don't we have to the expectations. A little bit yeah. Let's be honest and say give level. Yes at club level by far. That's not even debate. Let's give go pederson salvador all the credit that you want. There's not a single player hurricane team. That's getting anywhere near the. Us eleven the us eighteen twenty six for these games. I mean you are so obsessed with where guys play you. Want to eat horvath who hardly plays a start over matt. Turner salvador has zero players playing top flight football in europe. Not top five league football light football in europe when you have such a decided advantage of the. Us doesn't tell there. Shouldn't the expectation beat to win. If now that vantage when will it be to win.

"So they need. Somebody can come in and invest and connect with businesses again and. Do the things needed to get this thing to the next level and certainly a marta. Mind has the both financially and just in terms of his connections to do that. So i think it was that you know when you look at it in the big picture. We've been talking about a sale for this club for the better part of the decade. It's kind of inevitable Which was never ever going to happen. It was never going to happen but in the ten months since david released passing for them to executed the sale. I mean think of how messy montreal. What's there were multiple for sure. Buyers meeting won miss before the team actually got so at a game at edmonds because they brought him in. That sale was messy. This has happened to intend much and really less than that when they went through in a state process of ready to sell it and they got a big time guy with with big pockets and big respect to buy the team. That's not only good for the bc lines. That's good for the entire canadian football league because you're will be other teams for sale about amar before this. I did not know it. you know. i've been digging on this. And i knew of three other potential buyers and this is one i didn't know about and and i'm ashamed of myself because he's been interested in buying the team for some time you know. He'd had conversations with david early while he was still alive. And it's i don't think i'm the only this under but i'm disappointed in myself. Where does your mind going dream of big things. We saw people always going to build a new stadium big dreams what. What's realistic for for lions vance. Well first of all. Like i love that i can do say thirty thousand in the stadium is realistic. And maybe i'm naive. But they were close to that seven years ago and i throw that out there a lot because seven years is not a generation. This is not toronto. it hasn't fallen that'd be it's fallen far but it hasn't fallen for that law so connect with those people seven years ago right just to the people in the buildings to it looks better when the younger you want. Actually check long-term can right. I mean it was years ago in twenty eighteen. When five thousand fans came into that building to say goodbye to wally waldo right and they worked there as you were talking about when matt was away. You know i. It wasn't people that were there for a fifty fifty there for a concert. They were there because of football reason right so you have to believe at least those people are out there that you could bring in for a star with so. I just don't think this is as far gone as as a toronto situation. If you can get there but how about this how about you. Take the practice facility out of surrey. I know that one of the previous ownership possible groups about fourteen years is a place that you know. Maybe we can take this venue over when it workout during cold it. You know we. We all loved everything was in that facility even with the raptors were in there for training camp and all the other sport related businesses. That were there. What if we had over and put the lions operations in the bottom and you had retail around that and you've got field space hulk for sport already. That's there as opposed to wally right. And we all know what's around the lions practice facility. Put it closer to a business center. You put some put a fresh coat of paint on it. And just made the operations of this franchise look little different just the optics around that i mean look. Are we going to build a new stadium for nine. Cfl games right. It doesn't work that way..

"Chelsea puts the ball in the back in manchester city. Lucy's loses fa cup semifinal in. So he's been in the concacaf nations league semifinal coming off the line if not for just sergeant back of his head clearance. That was remarkable in the everyone forgets about it. His decision making has been very questionable. The one question. I have for goalkeeper for the united states is neither goalkeepers playing regularly in the one thing you do not want is deposition to not be tested and as often as i talk about. Sergio deaths not wanting to defend zack steph. And when he does play his playing for manchester city and he's facing what i have for shot a game. That's what the averages are. He's barely facing a shot a game so he's not battle-tested and when you look at east horvath what he did against switzerland and what he did coming off the bench. This better be a competition in hurt knows this better than anyone because then the message translates throughout the entire locker room because if that performance from ethan horvath doesn't translate into having a real competition with zach stuff in two guys have known each other since they were thirteen by the way. If that doesn't do it then everyone else looks around the locker room and says well wait. A minute i don. I don't really need to be that accountable because gregg berhalter knows. I'm one of his favorites. So i can kind of skirt this. I think it's very important. That gregg berhalter handles this the right way. And in my opinion ethan horrified needs to play the next couple games when he and zack. Stephanie are available. Well this is a few things here. first off this decision may be gregg berhalter to make depending on how he wants to play. Because there's a reason he values and so much his ability to play with this feet the way he wants to play on the back so now we have to see if even can offer the same even though it's absolutely an open competition after the last two games that even even that has had a number two. This may not even be a competition because zach steph and hasn't proven to be healthy in the last year and a half. He's had these knee injuries nagging knee injuries. Going back to do sort of. Hopefully he's okay but that may be something that's completely taken out of out of control and completed given to havana. I shouldn't say gibbon but placed their brass tacks time. The million dollar question right now after the result three two.

I don't think that's a hot take. But i also don't think the united states was as fluid going forward now. I felt like giovanni riina had a better tournament semifinal finals if you combine them he was more impactful and games. He was willing to drop deeper in the hole but politic's the game changer. Pulisic has the pace off the ball. Logistics the guy that can run off your number nine whether it's sergeant or whoever is up front and so. He's the one in the blink of an eye that can change the game. He can turn over the game and then all of a sudden. The game's going in your favor. Gregg berhalter has to find a way guys to get more touches. And i don't think he's putting him politic for that matter in the prime spot to do this in the best games. We've seen politic play for the us men's national team particularly in woke up poll flying in two thousand eighteen. He was actually playing as a second ford a number ten in a four. Three one whatever you want to say. It was underneath. Josie and he had the freedom to just go find the game. Go get into the game. Do something right through the middle and impact the game now. A lot of people will say herk. I've seen you do this. And it's right for chelsea a wide player. I get that however for the united states. I'm not so sure you need him to play wide if giovanni rain is that kind of player the way is they've got to find a way to get politic involved more in sub you're right it was a quiet game in my opinion from pulisic and yet it doesn't matter because he bared the most important penalty in that game. If i could briefly here. I actually thought when they did that. Three centreback back line. The two wing backs that they would play josh sergeant and almost two tenths very narrow. Wingers like he does it chelsea. I thought that would have been better for players like christian pulisic ngo on giovanni rain. And when you have wingbacks because then it gives them the liberty to kind of overlap. You and to play off you. I was very stunned when i saw him. Isolated and you saw how ineffective now. We saw the ranks rate. There he was. I a lot of team team ranks for the us men's national. You had a very underwhelming final. As far as good football good play. They won the game but by no means was that aesthetic. Can we talk a little bit. we talked about even horvath off the top. Here let me take you back to like two thousand nineteen early two thousand nineteen so early days of gregg berhalter and i were doing a game i think in in arizona and we have these the day before the match kind of behind behind the scenes chats with the manager and one of the takeaways from that was he said there was an open competition for goalie. And i really believed in. And eventually zack stephanie. Kind of locked down the number one job and didn't really seem like there was much. Competition zack steph gets hurt it's scary. Because it's one of those non contact knee injuries. Then ethan horvath comes on and does what he does. A is this number one job for the us now up in the air with what like eighteen months ago to the world cup. Better be but absolutely better. Be because what we've seen from zacks stephan look at the fa cup semifinal guys you you see him make one decision coming off. His line. he.

He needed this more than so martino. Absolutely even though martinez will have more pressure on him going into the gold cup. A gregg berhalter with a lot of the pressure around him. Whether it's brother hired him he hasn't done anything with the system. Whatever the naysayers are saying. He needed this victory badly. He got it but her right. This is the first one. It's that timing. Isn't it taylor. Isn't it you mentioned the pandemic. Nobody expected a pandemic well. Also nobody expected that you'd use the thirteen months with an interim coach until gregg berhalter. Cain then the pandemic happened so now all that time you could have been using could have been well spent working out a system trying out players really getting things going. You're barely doing now. You get your first marquee win. It doesn't matter how it happened. It happened These type of battles that hard your players that gives you the type of experience you need for a team moving forward. But now you just mentioned taylor world cup qualifying. I'm not even worried about gold cup because that might be a different type of team. We see gold cup. The expectations may be different. It's that world cup qualifying. What will that look like. Now that there are three games in a window. Now that out outing you only have a few days to work on a system with then you're gonna go play in some. You're going to play in mexico city. You can play wherever you go play. I feel like he will change it up. That time could have been better spent so it definitely feels like the pressure will mount because of the timing taylor. Christian pulisic wearing the captain's six the penalty. Amazing stuff the way. He makes the penalty to write. What what cool. Calm and collected manner of stepping up in that moment and converting it and really what to me stole. The show is a celebration right. Going over to the mexico fans takes his shirt off tells them to keep it quiet. There's a time in the history of the united states. it was kinda cloudy. Rain is us men's national team and then after that landon donovan's us men's national team. Is it safe to say now. This is christian. Pulisic's us men's national team taylor. So i'm glad you framed the question the way you did because i do think it's less about the penalty and listened. The penalty was fantastic. Make no mistake about it. But the celebration was very indicative of where christian pulisic is mentally and you also go back to the celebration of winning. The champions league with chelsea and wearing a us soccer federation sweatshirt. He wants ownership of this now. I'd argue with you. A little bit and saying quote nobody in.

Write this for a hollywood script or as a hollywood script you would say. Hometown boy plays in the home stadium of the team. He grew up watching football team in front of his fans in front of his family and saves the day against the biggest rival. Which is exactly what happened. It wasn't just anybody who stepped up. It was unrest wider. Who's arguably one of the best mexican players ever to play the game. A top five in many on their all time list all time greatest list. It really was a story book type of this blaine type of indian for ethan as much credit hurricanes. We wanna give ethan horrified. We have to say in that moment on the rest of the for all his experience he kind of choked didn't he. I mean there was a longtime. There was a lot of pressure to think about. How much was on that kick. You saw the american players messing with them about the hero but one another here much the goat very much. So what are those thirty four years old. He will be thirty five. Come september right around the corner. It's very much a question of what's his role with this team. Where's he going forward with. Not no he didn't start in a final. That should tell you a lot about where that the mad at him. And when that happens to a player that's indian his career on the ladder end of her stage of his career. That will mess with your psyche. So now you're not starting to game you feel. You should be starting your the captain. You stepped up. Take a penalty kick and if you see the direction of where that penalty went. It wasn't like even had an unbelievable save and fingertip save next to the post and took it away. No he struck that terribly almost to the center. You can tell. It affected him psychological. He wasn't ready wasn't prepared. Everybody can miss. That's not the issue you can miss. It happens it's who missed and how it happened. It's the context surrounding quavo. And would you decline of waddell. Yeah horvath very much involved in the moment of the match probably a good shopper man of the match as well because it wasn't just that penalty save right. There was some big saves and regulations. Some big stops juki lozano from distance. That i think are probably worth noting. The other massive polemic in this match is the penalty becomes one hundred ten minute of extra-time christian.

You're going to be in trouble that strike the right now in the pecking order of coca coffee. It's it's I put Mexico you guys are there. And then the US are down. You guys are of course on that. He ks the second no worse than the second. Best team in CONCACAF. Yeah. To be on. We we want to get in on level that we can't compete against any team against team from Europe. But to to get in that stage in that level. We know we have to be better in everything. Like now looking for to the Gold Cup. We want to win. It will never win it before. So we want to start like that. How are the kids are the the young Costa Rican? Do you see those good? Coming up. There's good. But then show linguists, right? You talk about this potential Costa Rica, you talk about Mexico being top. What does I argue for a long time? Costa Rica didn't have maybe that next level and Major League Soccer has given them that next level to develop what have you seen or what have you back home set about Major League Soccer what they can seize the competition that we have here. The speed that different players that we play against because it's not the same. If you play your contract liens the same people every weekend. But when you come here, you're playing play against a lot of players. Different type of players that you got you have to open your mind on you're gonna learn a lot of things when I hear teammates, captain. But I he's a free agent right now. And we heard his name mentioned a lot of Major League Soccer team. All yes. Very good flair his style. Just to put type he can't play in Cincinnati. Okay. You can't say Cincinnati tackled style at Brian has pick one team where you think do well consolidated Kansas City, bring it altogether ten amid wheel. Why? Ways that immediately. Because when was put in the question to get I was just thinking. What about him? Makeup. Espinosa rogers. I think that would do a great combination. I want go back to the World Cup when when you found out the United States didn't qualify. How did that make you feel because you know, the US busy was a bully for a bit to see them skip out that to that. You weren't you weren't you weren't crying knows really won't cry. I I wasn't happy us. Well, right now because I was only thinking in Costa Rica when you saw Panama you were happy for them to the first Brighton. So I can't imagine they're they're feeling. So that will make me happy about by qualifying Todo workup. It's you bring up an interesting thing. Mexico's obviously the strongest Mississippi Auricle team in CONCACAF. And but now you see the United States. What do you think happened to the United States that made them not qualify? Did you see Geordie see it happened? When you guys played it gets when you're like this team is going down. Well, I guess us. I thought that maybe that wasn't the usual United States from before may bid that was not so United like before. And now the new players young players coming in new coach. So I think there's going to be very interesting against when. When we play against I e mails it there weren't it's United as they were before. Sometimes it's that simple. And maybe you see that those union is ally. And then I have to ask about Costa Rica because a lot of your players are getting older. And there hasn't been that next generation that come through
