"Put in representation. They work for us. But the second thing that has checked is us. Because we can't do anything. Right now, today. That interesting. That means that you know, almost every American if you just look at the polls Would like to make very large changes to the government. It's not sure that they all want to change it in the same direction, But they can't really do anything right now. It takes years to do anything. And what's that about? It just means that we have to wait for elections to act. But think for a minute, also in between the elections. We're encouraged to talk original scheme was you can talk. All the time. You're able to act only certain times, which is about it kind of boils down to the idea. Think before you act Talk it through. "Comp County, 75 North Bound Highway five and three left lanes and also on the south side. 85 south bound at Collinsworth. You've got three left lanes blocked there as well. I'm David number 95.5. WSB. Welcome back to the financial simply with the one and only marked Lloyd. Mark Lloyd has been helping folks all over the area for a very long time. The Financial symphony is all about preparing for retirement in doing it in the right way. 807 494288 807 494288 and in order to talk about all of that, and get your ducks in a row, so to speak, Call 807 494288 for a no obligation and no cost conversation. Mark. Let's talk about legacy and in the state planning a lot of people, you know, legacy is the most important thing to them after they get through retirement themselves. They want to leave something and other folks don't care is a smudge, As you've said before they want their last checked about to the undertaker. By the way, exactly. Let's let's talk about the importance of legacy and estate planning. Most people think they need an attorney involved in their estate plan. Is that always the case? Well, always is a strong word. I mean, I do like, you know, working with the state attorney's here in the Atlanta area with my clients because we know that if there was ever let's say you have a situation with a blended family. If anybody ever wanted to argue about what your wishes were your youth passed on. The attorney is your best witness because they were there to design what you wanted to have happen. And by using an attorney, we know that they're covering your basis. I remember through the years to come and doing this for 30 years I've been working with attorneys for 30 years and I remember, you know, some folks saying, Wow, What's all this? What's all this verb Ege in here? This is a pretty thick document considering you know, we really feel like we have a simple plan. And I said, This is all the what ifs. What if this happens? What if that happens? What if this changes, whether that long changes and a good estate plan will have all of those what? It's inside the plan Now? I said that you know the word always. Sometimes we've come across folks round that the estate is so simple. It is as simple as you know, A simple I love you will, it might might be done through like a legal zoom or something like that. What would work for them? And if you have beneficiaries listed on your retirement accounts, see that avoids probate. That means everything passes on to your heirs with no with no problem. I mean, it's all done through the beneficiary systems. Yes, kind of what I did with my mom when my moms and dads sold their house and my mom is an independent living right now, everything's kind of set up with beneficiary from, you know, third for me a third for my sister. Third for my brother. We already have everything planned. So when your mom will be 93 in March, and when, when she's called home, it's real simple. There's gonna be no probate involves and everything is going to pass on to her airs the way that she wanted it so that didn't require an attorney to do that. Now. It probably helps that I'm a certified estate planner. I knew how to set that up. And that brings us you know, kind of financial advisors. Help in ways like this. I know that zoo common question. Okay. Um, certainly, thanks for answering that question. What? Role should the financial advisor play in the legacy and estate planning process, and you already talked about that, of course, and I know you always have the big picture in mind. But exactly what role should advise your play, making sure your beneficiaries a listed properly and doing a check up and making sure that if they even ever need to be updated their updated I've told this story on the show. Before where I ran into a gentleman who, you know, I'm sitting there looking at the beneficiaries. And, you know, I'm gonna keep the names. I'm gonna change the names to protect the innocent. Let's say it's Jack and Kathy. I'm like. Okay, well, your your life insurance policy. Jack has Susan Who's Kathy? You're doing Susan together. Susan and your name? No, and she looked at me and she said Mm. That's Jack's ex wife. Oh, okay, now, Jack, did you did you? You know Is it part of your divorce decree that that she has to inherit this and he looks at me and he's turning white as Casper the ghost. Did he say he goes, Mark? No. Have never changed it. I said, thank God we found this. Yeah, I said, because let me tell you how this would have worked. She would've had a really nice inheritance that she wasn't counting on and there's nothing you could have done about it. Contract law. So making sure your beneficiaries are accurate and updated on a regular basis. A good financial advisor will help you with that. All right, boys. Some so many people make that mistake too. I know I heard you just out of sight out of mind. Ron. That's what bulls down, too. I know that you talked to so many people every week. Tell us about some specific recent conversations you've had with clients in this area of their plan. And in addition to that, when you just mentioned Yeah, I was just working with with some folks recently that you know that was one of their main questions. Can we set this up in a way? Where where My kids don't have anything to worry about. Well, actually, her question was a little bit different. I want to make sure my kids inherited in case he decides to go off and get married to someone else later on, and he starts to get dementia or Alzheimer's. And she talks him into changing the beneficiaries. Is there some way to fix that? I said Absolutely. You just need to have Ah, trust in place, so that when you pass away all your assets go into your trust. And in that way when you pass on When he passes on everything is you know in the trust goes to your blood relatives, No blood, no money. That's all done through a state planning and that's easily possible And it's a question has popped up in the past. What happens if you know my spouse decides to go remarry? You can still protect your Children through having the right kind of trust. Okay, We're talking about legacy and estate planning here on the financial sympathy with the one and only marked Lloyd, your financial maestro, the Lloyd group. How do most of your clients view their legacy are most people trying to leave a lot of money to their kids and grandkids? Or are they more focused on their own retirement lifestyle? Probably.

"Government leaders have started to reveal how they plan to allocate nearly seven hundred million dollars in federal stimulus money to help deal with the impacts of the corona virus the county executives in Macomb and Oakland counties announced this week they plan to allocate portions of their counties allotment to local governments and small businesses it's a federal crime to buyers aid relief economics he acts called cares to talk with us about that is the Macomb county executive mark Hackel mark thanks for joining us you bet good morning Vanessa as well as for mark how you doing today good morning how are you we're doing great that's a decent weather this week so we're happy campers exactly when it's a good sunshine so tell us about this all federal care corona virus aids relief economic security act that you announced this week with the Oakland county executive yeah that most people realize you know there are some stimulus money about two trillion dollars that went out to try to figure out how do we help you with the economy as well as the impact of the coronavirus so with that they decided a portion of it kind of a stimulus push others of millions of dollars that went around the country to the communities that the qualified with the qualifier was for some of them was they had to be at least a populated have a population based off five thousand or more city your county so let's just kind localize at here in Michigan there's Kent County when Oklahoma City Detroit that met that criteria they did it based on a per capita and so person it earned seventy seven thousand people in Macomb county and with that we got a hundred fifty two point five million dollars to help us try to figure out how do we deal with some of the losses some of the challenges that we face whether it's business whether it's you know try to provides P. P. to deal with testing so there's a multitude of areas that the this money could be used for yet we need to make sure auditing and following the guidelines of the ask and we're planning on doing that so what exactly are you looking at where are you are you in our daily waiting and studying what to do with the money and where is the most need yeah it just says that the money was was full we actually got the money on April twenty fourth so in a very short period of time what we're able to work with our financial advisors people at work you know they do are on deck for the county our finance department are planning department people working on the computer the action or even ever seen as the team to look at the actual act find out what the constraints were in doubt you're aware the most most needs work and we're gonna make a determination was based according to several categories you know I'm C. R. well one of them was recouping some of the some of the costs associated with the business at hand well we had to deal with and preparing for future concerns dealing with this outbreak another was a public health you know the testing and out of the contact tracing that we're doing get out of this house here in Macomb county and I'm not supporting our local municipalities although it's a pot of money for them to you know get that reimbursed for we plan on putting somebody out there for them as well the end of the bottom population you know dealing with our senior concerns that we're seeing people that are homeless even our school our kids structure of the deal that in a large portion of it about seventy million aren't fifty up to a point five seventy million we're gonna be putting towards supporting some of the concerns that small business at that have been impacted with hi there so I mean this is this is so widespread on are you have a question so that more like I just kind of commentary on this and any question to so what Connie's F. executive what would you say you know based on what you guys are observing and one that what where was where would you think that the money like how to how to be part prioritized I guess I should say well if you were outside the confines of the act I'll I'll I'll just go with this I think there's a better utilization for preparedness down the road but it doesn't fit the criteria of money has to be spent by December thirty first what's aspen goes back and with that being said R. fifty two million could really do some things for us that would be you know kind of a transformer for health care here in this county to Natalie deal with the current crisis but be prepared for you know whether it's a you know a secondary wave or like in summer pandemics yeah we're I mean by that well we can create a sticker that said the art health facility you know with our help market your comp county tied into our our our hospitals and our medical field interpersonal management we really could put some together that would help us prepare for this in the future and your with one of our I guess if you will a care facility said Ms B. the jail and you know there's some things we could use all utilize this money for to help us deal with that yeah we we've had released an incredible amount of prisoners from the jail to prevent that that otherwise I would have stayed there again none of them were a danger to cite your team to be such by the judges in the criminal justice system however let's just suffice it to say there are some things that we could have used this response for but instead we had to kind of follow the guidelines and you know appropriate funds to an area I think that has been impacted incredibly and that's the business sector and though this is the story this story is going to continue to play out for small business you know that's that's the scariest part all the activities of the governor came out this recently just today and she talked about you know opening up that the state more and she said we talking open up my appointment what I don't understand is you know why can't salon and barbers and and oz our other salon types do the same thing when they're so used to opening up my appointment that's how they operate so it it's it's their suffering I mean restaurants are suffering I'm a small business owner luckily I can work from home my husband's a small business owner I made their impacted greatly county executive and you mentioned this last week too about the data and so I really appreciate you coming out last week and and showing your concern about the data out where the governor is making these decisions and effects on small business well it in you if you have an address to crisis going right now obviously the health is the over riding crisis people's lives I mean that's number one and then the other one is economic crisis we're seeing what's happening I think was adding to the economic crisis and let's be honest about is the your talking about the unemployment benefits right now yeah this is really hurting a lot of employers because of the extent of this unemployment people are are making you know and and not everyone but again a good majority of people basketry people unemployment being a hold hold and or benefiting from it and that's never that never should have been the case for unemployment or land itself and now that being said you know my I I agree that there should have been this you know such a person on a central this immediate shutdown and let's let the curtain we did that and I think small businesses are you even some of the other manufacturing all got a board and they supported and so what did we do I mean a dramatic decrease in what the number's going to bed so that goal was to take yeah I know my ex is with this this color coded chart playing with numbers doesn't help me doesn't help small businesses understand what is that criterion acts so that the so mine can open so that a restaurant can open so that your health club facility can open nobody seems to know that I'll just go with example today today we open some more my question is and I you know I get in trouble for it when I bring it up because somebody saying well you're not agree with governor that's not true I agree that we need to shut it down but I also agree that the need to be more information for these business owners to have a better understanding of what the criteria is that allows for these openings to take place and nobody seems to know I don't know right now what we just did with coverages did is that a four is that a five on the chart is it a color green is the color blue what created that within the numbers decision to open up some of them to the extent that she did I don't know that and I have listened to it much like everyone else at a press conference today watching it on the news I mean that yeah that's just not appropriate for our county our size you should have more input more patient NW part of that dialogue and that's not happening so you don't even know how to answer that you're not a person I'm arguing you know that's not the case yeah yeah going information is is just not available and they're kind of going along as it comes comes out or do you think that they're just not that that the information is not being disseminated thoroughly enough just because it's a delicious over I I think you're you're you're hitting the if you're hitting the questioner numbers we we all the numbers I know the numbers I see the numbers I get it statewide nationally even locally and with the numbers ours first people that are dying cases you know what we're doing as far as people that are recovered from it all this I get that I understand the data but that's the same as you get all the time as well we're gonna be sees a surge of based on the data well okay the data is there you know the note it I always say this you know collecting data is really a little or no use unless you have some thresholds or you have some push pointed out which what are the what is what is making the determination yeah we we know that manufacturing opened up last week what was it that we're looking at with the data numbers it said okay we can do that now much like receive a somebody others opening what was it that said open up it is that in that color coded chart you know that's right and that's where my angst is that along with this with the local business here because this economic crisis you know as soon as we start to recover from the the the health crisis that we're seeing here is going to be extended I think beyond expectations of people and then when we get there people wonder how did that happen end up yeah I trust is is will pay attention they will listen don't don't modify what they're doing they're gonna follow CDC guidelines for the most part and you're going to be willing to be part of the solution they just need to understand what it's going to take it to allow them to open rather than just a press conference saying it's okay now tomorrow you can open and not understand there to be happy to get open but that I could understand what was it that was in the data in the numbers that help make that decision okay Stan why that's not available on is a is a former full time reporter thought that's a question any reporter should be asking where is this data coming from how are we you know where did it come from who are the experts behind it what are the threshold I mean these are legitimate questions and I don't understand why there's pushback by you by anybody we are to you or anybody else questioning that and I agree with the governor for the beginning till.

"I wanna ask you though, taking temperature down instead of talking about your opponent. Let let's talk about you and your campaign, and what are you hearing from people on the campaign trail out there right now. I am hearing a lot of very positive feedback all across the sixth district. There's a lot of energy for Republicans in the sixth district. I am you know, me I always run like I'm ten points behind. So I'm gonna keep the pedal to the metal all the way through November six, but you know, I think the biggest thing people see is just all of this outside money pouring in and you know, just this afternoon another three hundred twenty five thousand dollars book on behalf of my opponent. But everybody's working hard. And among Republicans everyone understands what's at stake understand that the economy is going so well, and we are finally getting things done, and we do not want to turn back the clock on on all of that progress. I hear that a lot from people as well. The the idea of turning back the clock. I hear eat in regards to say Abrahams in in wanting to robots from the education reforms cover dealers. Made with Democrats in tax cuts. What do you see is the big issue moving forward, assuming you get reelected in in the cook political indexes, I think moved you into the likely Republican category. Which is good don't don't stop running like your ten points behind though, don't take it for granted. But if you get reelected, if the Republicans are in the majority come next year. What's your big issue that you really want to get done? I think now that we have a dressed the revenue side of the ledger in terms of the federal government and getting the economy going again, it is in heritage that we turn our attention to the spending side of our financial ledger because Washington really does have a spending problem, and it's tough to deal with with cutting the budget when we have so many people unemployed. We now have the lowest unemployment in decades in paradise to get to deal with the year on your deficit and the long-term debt. I'm glad you said that because I do have this real concern with Republicans right now in if they don't take back the house, the having to rely on Senate Republicans with a Nancy Pelosi majority in in the house to do anything about the debt and deficit and seems like the Democrats only solution is tax increases. But I haven't really seen a lot of Republicans willing to own up to we need to do some spending cuts. Yeah. So we've had Diane black has long had a Bill to do at across the board. One percent cut. We never get enough votes to get that across the finish line across in the Senate. And the president has now asked every agency heads to submit a proposal of what a five percent cut would look like all of these things. So I think we will start to once we keep the majority start to see some attention there and for for the listeners who might think about social security or Medicare. Look, we all get the obligation that we have to individuals who are on social security and Medicare we get that. And I don't wanna have anyone still worried about that. If they want to worry, they should worry about the Democrats Medicare for all plan, which will end Medicare as we know it and it'll prohibit employer-based insurance program. So we'll get worried about that about how the cuts will look. But I think everyone would agree that we've got to get. Serious about the ballooning spending. You mentioned this Medicaid for all thing. I I realize you got a number of Democrats, including the lady from New York City who calls herself socialist. And Bernie Sanders warning this plan. I e e every projection I've seen says that even if you were attacks people at one hundred percent of their income, you wouldn't have the money to pay for this thing. And yet they seem to think it will pay for itself. It's it's inexplicable to me the numbers don't add up. But what is even worse is that it would be basically ObamaCare to Dotto and take healthcare system and turn it into a full throttle government run government takeover of health care, which is exactly what we don't need. We don't need more government and our health care, we need less very much. So now, listen, you we've got about a minute and a half year left. I know I have seen pulling out there that for some reason there's still a lot of undecided voters in Georgia. That includes in the sixth congressional district where you are. I want to open up a microphone four years advanced, you questions just make your case to the voters of the six you. I appreciate that.
