"I don't want to listen to you, because I try to hear every perspective I can, but that's one where I'm like, man, what are we doing here? How is anybody still a doubter of Lamar Jackson, especially after beating the chiefs on Sunday Night football? The argument is dead and I can't listen to that anymore. Okay, let's talk about the Raiders. The Las Vegas Raiders are off to a great start to the year. They're two O. They just beat the Steelers on the road in Pittsburgh 26 to 17, and by the way, the Raiders have now beat two teams in a row that were playoff teams last year. Last week they'd be the ravens a week one. They'd be Pittsburgh this week in week two. Now you have to acknowledge that the Raiders did catch a break. Star edge defender TJ watt left of the game early for Pittsburgh. He did not play the entire second half. But on the other, you know, the flip side of that is that even though Pittsburgh lost TJ watt. And then also later they lost offensive lineman Trey Turner who got kicked out of the game. It's not like a raider for playing a full strength either. They're running back Josh Jacobs did not play he's hurt. They didn't plow their guard rich incognito. Remember they lost their other guard Denzel good week one with an ACL tear. So it's not like the Raiders were at full strength playing against a full strength Pittsburgh team. Both people lost both teams at a player to get hurt and losing TJ wat a massive deal. Do not get me wrong. But I mean, let's just be clear, both teams are at a disadvantage in certain ways on Sunday. The Raiders found a way to win. Now before we talk about Derek Carr, I just got to say, I'm feeling really, really good about this raiders football team. There's a lot of young guys stepping up and making plays. I want to list a couple of them. Trayvon mullan had a nice interception he's a corner and year three of his career. There's another third year player, tight end foster Moreau. He had two big catches against Pittsburgh, one on a back shoulder seam ball and later he had a touchdown catch. Both of the Raiders tackles, by the way, Colton Miller and Alex leatherwood are former first round picks they're young. After the beginning of their career, receiver Brian Edwards should have had a touchdown. He's a stud. That guy mentioned Alex leather would actually have a holding call that got that called back. Henry ruggs, there are number 12 overall pick from last year. Second year player had a long 61 yard touchdown, and that's, by the way, why they drafted him was to make big plays. And he finished with hender rugs finished with 5 catches for a 113 yards and a touchdown. Then you have hunter renfrow who's an underrated slot receiver who does great work and is really good at getting yards after the catch. He had multiple key first downs for the Raiders against Pittsburgh. Now watching this game a couple things became very, very clear early on. Pittsburgh's mission was to shut down the Raiders star tight end, Darren Waller. And they kind of did that. Darren Waller had 5 catches for 65 yards, which by his standards is not an amazing football game. But the other thing that became very apparent, it was fun to watch about this game was that because their game plan focused so heavily on stopping taron Waller. It gave other players opportunities. And it was so cool to see the rest of the Raiders young roster step up and make plays and kind of rise to the occasion. Now, I want to talk about Derek Carr, the Raiders quarterback..

"That number 534 79 172 534 79 100 cruising on through our number two with Brian family Follow him on Twitter at Brian Family F E N l E Y o U. C L. A And does a lot of things in the broadcasting industry loves it has passion, got set to do pre game against Long Beach State the other day for the Bruins, and then that game gets called off. I mean, that's always tough with the covert stuff going down, but tell me a little bit about this Bruins team. But you know what? Before we get to that. Let me just touch on the other player that I was going to talk about Colton Miller because Colton Miller was, of course, our left tackle, but he was drafted couple years ago, and there was a lot of speculation that whatever they do, and that way they grabbing this 69 kid. This kid's not gonna be able to play left tackle in the NFL. This kid has been tougher than nails. You know, Coach May I mean GM Mayock coach Gruden. They loved this guy. He's a nine iron guy. He's not gonna miss the game. Hey, didn't this one just wasn't his fault, but he was hurt. I mean, this guy takes a lot to get him out of the line. If he has been a mainstay in when you have a center like Rodney Hudson, you're looking for other guys to be there. Now they are going to get Trent Brownback for this weekend, but Colton Miller, left tackle has been that solid and he is a U. C. L. A Bruin told me a little bit about Colton Miller, Brian family. I mean, I just think that he's been when he was easy away. Can he was a gamer. He kind of kept a low profile quiet in nature, but they do just produced on the field and the fact that We didn't talk a whole lot about him is because he's doing such a great job because he was holding his own on that side of the line. And you think about who he was blocking for. At one point, and that would have been Josh Rosen and how important it was to Help. Protect rose and because, you know, he's not a guy when he was HC away, there was going to run around. He was a guy that loves to pass in the pocket. And there was that one game where the Bruins Come back and beat Texas seen him at the rose for one of the wildest games in college football history, or the Bruins were down by believe 30 or something points. And they came back in the second half and stunned and M. Colton Miller You know Josh Rosen, All those guys were there that was a Bruin team that had some of the most slick, sophisticated off offensive. Showings that you would have seen in college football, and I don't think that cold ever got enough credit for what he did to keep Josh Rosen upright. And that is, uh, had a solid man. I mean, I really like this kid called Miller. I've really great. You know, when you see somebody that's gonna play, no matter how banged up they are. That's the attitude this guy has, and he's played many a game when we didn't think he was gonna be able to go. But he has. And I know Coach Gruden just loves the guy. Brian, Let's touch a little bit on your ceiling. Now they've got a scheduled game, I believe was Seattle tomorrow, Elgin, Baylor's alma mater. Hopefully they get that game in, told me a little bit about this Bruins team and and team off to a to a no star, But I've had some games that have gone way by gone by the wayside. As far as Kobe Chris Smith is back leading the way, But you got some other key players as well. Tiger Campbell is back OD Riley, tell me a little bit about this brute squad. Yeah. So It's actually a team can that their first game of the season they lost to San Diego State. They were completely out. Muscled in the paper, and this is the thing with the Cronin, the Bruins head coach, and that he has vehemently said this week. During practices. It's we got to be a more aggressive team. The problem before Mick Cronin team a lot of these guys were more of a finesse sort of style. Throne and God there can and he is trying to scrap that sort of mindset trying to inject physicality and that added toughness, owning the boards and blocking guys out. And their school little habits that the Bruins have the guns where they fall back on it, and they're not the aggressive they're passive. And that's what happened in San Diego State where it was a team, you know well can last year. Already wins. They could have been April dental final 14 if it wasn't for covert 19 shutting the season down prematurely, But they had a lot of guys back. And the Bruins were just dominated in the paint. They lost the battle on the boards and that if you're gonna beat you feel like That's all. You gotta do it. You've got to be able to elbow them. You've got to be able to push them around. Because you see a light is so skilled at every position the only way that you're going to be able to beat them. Is this you out, tossed them and I think it times U C l A in that first game. They let the fact that they were a preseason top 25 18 get into their ego and Mick Cronin described that the next game they go to triple overtime. It may be peppered on now, Pepper dine is a much better team. In the West Coast conference, and I think could be a dark horse team if they don't win the conference, because certainly Gonzaga is number one in the country right now, with Jalen stuck Souza potential Lottery pick. Who was a freshman seen on for the Zags, But Pepper dine has Lorenzo Romar is their head coach..

"We're a little under A little over an hour away from the Broncos versus the Raiders. Let's head out to the stadium and check in with voice of the Broncos. Dave Logan. Familiarity is something that we talk a lot about in these division matchups. The Broncos. No, Derek are pretty well. They know he likes to get the ball out fast. So in this case, how much does familiarity in your opinion? Play into the potential outcome of this game. Well, I think it helps that they've got a pretty good idea of what Derek Carr likes to do, and I think I think he's a little bit different this year, frankly, Um, where I with with what the Raiders really have established on offense. This is they run first team. This is a power running team that then we'll take some shots, uh, down the field and play action. And they Max protect a lot when they do that now, in years past very car with throw the ball. They didn't have this good or running attack and you're right. The ball did come out quickly. He's been very, very good against the Broncos over the years in terms of his completion percentage and just taking care of the ball, But I think today The challenge for the Broncos defense is going to be up front, getting ahold of that Raider running game and not letting them simply dominate the line of scrimmage. And so that would be a chore, obviously, with with the three starters that started the season for the Broncos, not playing today. Is that bringing my color analyst Rick Luis Rico and we've talked about this? You're gonna get today DaMarcus Walker to Sean Williams and Dream A. Jones a couple those young guys high draft choices, But still if you Looked at what the Broncos had at the start of the season of front defensively and what they have right now, you would say Gosh, what? What has happened? Yeah, it's hard to believe what has happened to this team with the with the injuries and sometimes in the covert situation. Three good defensive linemen out with Mike Purcell out. General Casey, who went down early in the season, five time pro Bowler on now you're missing. Shelby Harris is well, good news is we did hear that Colton Miller. The left tackle for the Raiders is out Hey, will not play here today in their line is is pretty beat up. The right tackle Sam Young has been limited all week in practice. The right guard gave Jackson didn't didn't even practice all week due to an illness. So that may help the Broncos a bit. But, yeah, the Raiders can really pound the ball with Jacobs and Davante book. We talked about this question a little bit earlier in our pregame show drew lock in the broncosoffense. How do they get off to a quicker start? We've seen them and second half play in each of the last two weeks. Really looked good. In fact, that came from 21 points down against the Chargers and one of the last play of the game. They were 21 points down against the Falcons and closed to within one score. But I think the key question is, what do they have to do in your mind and their minds to get this thing off the snide earlier and starting today in Las Vegas? Well, I feel like they have to run the ball. They give up on the run really, very, very easy, because typically they get way behind. In the first half of games, which makes it really tough to stick with run, so I'd like to see them be able to run the ball against this Raiders defense. The Raiders defense isn't all that good. They've been struggling all year there near the bottom of the league and just about every category. If they can run the ball today and give Drew lock a chance to make some throws, maybe take some of the pressure off a drew early. I think it gives them a much better chance. Of being able to not only stay in the game but play with the league. What a difference it is, David, you know, to be able to play with a lead against the team. That's something we never get to see with this Denver Broncos offense. Yeah, to Echo Would Rick was talking about the Raiders rink 23rd at a 32 teams in total defense 17th against the rush 26th against the past. And also 24th in terms of points given up per game. They're giving up an average of 29 points for games. So this to me is an opportunity for the Broncos offense to step up on, I will say get well but certainly play a more efficient game today. Yeah, it feels like that to me, too. I'm fairly optimistic going into this game that this will be a Ah high scoring game. I think you'll see the Broncos score. A lot of points here today. The Broncos since 2017 have scored 27 or more points just eight times and for four of those games has been drew Locket quarterback Let's get Drew started early today. Is gonna be an interesting one. The Raiders, Of course, five and three In this eight game stretch to start the season, the Broncos will be looking for their fourth victory of the year and again this game today in Las Vegas, even though Rick and I are here at a power field.

"They'll speed that process up. But as we look at the freighter's team right now, Having had to rebuild the entire roster, offense and defense. With so many holes in 2018, you're seeing an offense. That's just a step or two ahead of that defense in the hope with the Raiders is that that defense will close the gap here Pretty soon. You get some young talent there. I mean, Crosby looks like he's gonna be some trade. My mother looks like he's some and Jonathan Abrams. He's you know, he's interesting, but you know, the Raiders identity over the last couple of years has been that offensive line. It's been, you know, the envy of the league, one of the top offensive lines in football, if not the top offensive line in football. Been in this game there gonna be a little short handed. It looks like what's the latest on that offensive line there? Yeah, it's been shorthand of the entire way. They've had three plays literally three plays this year with the Starting offensive line. You're the five men that they thought we were gonna be out there and they had pencil. Then they've gotten three players out of that group trip. Brown. It's just been a struggle. Keeping their big right tackle on the field when it was catfish. You now the complications with covert 19 1 Game one complete game for the writers the share, Then you go toe Richie Incognito's with the last six games with an Achilles Colton Miller, who's been a just a workhorse for them Mrs for the first game of his career last week against the Chargers. I'd be really surprised he's gonna give it a go asleep wake up on Sunday morning to see if he could play on Sunday. But kind of a long shot. That cold was gonna place and now you're down. You're right Tackle your left tackle your left guard on possibly gave Jackson he didn't practice today was out with the sickness. He's questionable for Sunday. That would be a devastating loss if they don't get Gabe, but somehow some way They've been able Tomo figure it out. Tom Gabel Cable has done an outstanding job mixed matching and doing some patchwork moving guys around to finding to be able to find a combination that at least keeps the head above water. For the Raiders often. So what could have been a catastrophe with all these, You know, Miss games and injury than illness hasn't been as detrimental as you would have imagined. They've been able to be an anchor for this offense, even without their starting caliber players, and they're hoping they're keeping their fingers crossed. At some point, Trent And Richie get back. And obviously Colton and if they could play, you know the last five or six games, you know, with that offensive line intact. They're gonna be really grateful for that. But we'll see if that you never get to that point. It's a month and you're our guest here. Couple more questions here for you. So one of the things that I think is gonna come up over the course of their careers is the decision that the Raiders made to draft Henry rugs instead of Jerry Judy. And, of course, it also is compounded by the fact that they're playing the same division. So the comparisons there are who is going to be more productive. Now. I think Broncos fans are pretty thrilled about Jerry Judy my Coast, Benjamin Albright was pounding the table for Henry rugs. So far. What do you think about what When Henry rugs has brought to the Raiders, and do you think that it's it's fair that these two guys even though they kind of have a little bit different games, little bit different styles. You think it's fair that their careers are basically gonna be matched against each other for the rest of time. Well, Benjamin. I were on complete opposite tables on that because I thought the Raiders should've drafted Jerry duty, but I get what they were doing with Henry drugs and the speed factor. And if you look at how their first you know, years of their career, and I suspected it was gonna be the case throughout. Just go back to what they did at Alabama. They were teammates and one was the high volume. You know your targets and catches and Jerry duty. The other guy was Henry Rugs didn't give many catches. What was explosive with the ball was a game changer scored a lot of touchdown. Be a relative toc touches, you know, average high per catch average in terms of yardage. I think that's exactly how it's gonna play out in And in the post, they complemented each other at Alabama. I think in their own way, they're going to compliment whoever they're playing alongside of the teams up there with draft, you know, astutely around them and add other pieces at the wider Syria position. They're going to be able to impact their team and their wide receiver group, much like they did. In college. So while I get that they're gonna be compared, But I don't think the comparison should be. We're gonna be accurate. If you just look at the numbers, you have to look at the impact that each player is having on their particular team and in Henry rug, this case when he's been out there This offense is just better when he's out there. That doesn't mean that he's getting all these gaudy. You know, catches and statistics and all that, but he does something for this office and you can ask no finagle our and Darren Waller and Hunter Renfroe and Josh Jacob's All those guys would attest to the fact that when Henry's running down the field or dragon, you know coverage with him across the field. They feel it because there's less attention being paid to them. And Nelson Agler is a guy that you know benefited greatly in a lot of one on one coverage is down the field because Henry's drawing help on the other side. That he's that he's having an effect. And then if you look at their car, um you know, there's been some a little bit couple of little pickups in some, you know targets to Henry down the field, but they've hit on a couple of them. And it's also opened the field like I said for Nelson, angular, so if you look at their the impact that he's had on their card is completion percentage down field is the best to his career, and I have to believe Having Henry out there impacting the way defense's defend. The Raiders has had a great impact. So I love Jerry Judy. If they give you have a tremendous career, but for this Raiders team moving forward. I think they're going to be really happy with drugs as well. Yeah, I don't think there's really a wrong answer, therefore, that that draft pick at 12, but I mean, I'm kind of with you. This was this was such an interesting decision even for fur ball teams, because I mean the argument there is if we say we flip this thing, and I mean, I think the Raiders are pretty thrilled about jury duty right now and what he brings. As a complementary receiver to the talent you have there and the Broncos to be pretty thrilled about Henry rugs and his ability to stretch the field. Now Katri Handler is supposed to eventually be that guy for the Broncos. We just really haven't seen a lot of that. But I liked your sort of..

"But no sooner wearing zone on Welcome back, Jamie Lord. Dennis Fithian. Am a man mad, Miss Lane bringing the runs and Jews bring it up. Bring it up. 7349 in 18 57 34 1918 50. We're talking We're getting it in, Uh, Michigan football talking about the first game. You've got to be excited about it. I'll just go. Just go just agreeing within. I was actually gonna counter with a question that that five o'clock Mike had actually in terms of in terms of TV is obviously you know, he just mentioned that that game day is going to be up in Minneapolis for Michigan versus Minnesota. And, of course at 7 30, right, Little after 7 30 kickoff on ABC, and, of course, heard right here on the ticket with your game day cover, starting at 3 30. With the key bank countdown to kickoff, but To me, especially when I heard that this that this pregame show is going to be where it's going to be at It didn't surprise me at all. But the was it the big high noon Big 10. Big kickoff. Whatever Jemma College, do you want to call it on? Fox is supposed to be down and see bus for Nebraska and Ohio State. My question is how money strings did Urban Meyer have to pull for this one? I think when the schedule came out, I think that they made they made this decision right away. I think they came right at him and said, Hey, we want we mean Fox Fox wanted the Nebraska Ohio State game right away is to team two coaches to intriguing coaches to intriguing programs once tryingto once trying to bounce and get it, get it, Get it, get it. Get it going on the other one trying to get to the gate to the national playoffs National championship playoffs. I mean, that's what it that's what it's about, right? So, Yeah, I think that those Fox had that at high noon, and I didn't know I knew that the Fox game was I knew I was going to be Ohio State of Nebraska. I think Two hours before the they announced Game Day. Oh, I know that they were talking about Game day They were talking about having game day at Minnesota, but they were still making the decision. I got you. I got you. And some news on the NFL came down about about an hour ago that they made a change for the Sunday night cap in the NFL that the new Sunday Night game for this weekend The battle of the NFC West as the Cardinals and Ah Seahawks have trade places with the tempo of the top of Bay Buccaneers and the Las Vegas Raiders. As they flip flap their Vegas is dealing with. Some covert issues with their offensive line. One player has been moved to the reserve list while the other members of the offensive line sent home from practice. Eso those air some some updates in the sports world as of right now, So wait a minute. Did they mean he said all the offensive lineman home Yesterday I saw that. So one guy tested positive and they're making sure the other guys aren't positive. Is that what it is that the understanding that's what I'm on The understanding of is that Ah Actually, I'm just getting it seeing this pop up on my screen. Ah, this from an hour ago that ah It looks like sources are saying that four starting online members of the Las Vegas Raiders are going to be hitting the reserve Koven 19 list. Ah, that's coming from a won't be playing. Yeah, that's coming from Paul Gutierrez of those members of the offensive line mentioned Rodney Hudson gave Jackson Denzel Good. And Colton Miller look like they're going to be doing that. And they had mentioned Jonathan Abrams was already put on that on that list. So ah! There's that there's that update right now, so Ah, yeah, it looks like five members are going to be put on that little roar. Ah, there, put it there, put on that list, and they were The those mention were actually on that starting five in their victory over Kansas City last week or a couple weeks ago, I should say, but it sounds like they're they're still playing it for 05 Eastern standard time. The Buccaneers versus the Raiders on Sunday. They're still they're planning a game because I'm watching NFL live here at the big screen, and they're showing Keyshawn Johnson an adult, Adam Schiff. And what's his name and But they're they're talking about it. But how do you go? I guess they're gonna have to make getsem like I mean, I guess they have enough Lightman that that is going to play right? Well, I mean, I think the big thing I think what it comes down to is that they'll probably have to, you know, call up the guys from the practice squad that are part of it possibly mean. It's obviously not every member off the offensive line says it sounds like it's the five members off the starting five. Yeah, so I don't want to be the quarterback in that. Yeah, let's just put it this way. If you've got Derek Carr on your fantasy team, uh, this might be the week to go ahead and sit him and possibly pick up Jo Jo burrow or someone else, possibly But, yeah, no. They flip flops with that. So now it's four or five between the Raiders and the Buccaneers in Vegas and Seattle in Arizona, will be taking the nightcap at 805 down in Arizona. I'm a contused looking channel. Oh, Ah, yeah, Noggin soon. J J P P is doing the same thing as well to pretty sure it's going to be a field day for those front seven for Tampa Bay. Whether smacking around Rogers. Ah, no doubt about that. It was produced with it just No, I got I was going to switch it over and take a look at produce..

"It's hard in if any eighteen needed the bye week. It was the Patriots. They didn't get it in. That's a big reason why they lost I from the very beginning of the season. I just felt that Rob Gronkowski on Kospi. That was a loss that it's hard to believe to me that people were not Giving giving enough credence to to that loss because you can replace guys like Julian Edelman You know they've had guys like that before they've had good wide receivers before they've been able to interchange range players. You know recycle guys get guys out bring guys in that are kind of the equivalent of those types of players. But there's no replacing Rob Gronkowski. He was a beast in so many different factors. Whether you're talking about blocking a an athlete. Great Hands Great route runner a physical presence since in in you know whether you're talking about Running routes or in your run game. I mean you don't replace Rob Gronkowski to am. I just felt well. You know miles and I were both there and Super Bowl. Tom Brady didn't have a very good game of the Patriots Office Game but when they needed to get a touchdown drive they basically Lina Gronkowski For that touchdown drive and not having that was a huge huge loss so I thought that was an under appreciated You know Subtraction for the Patriots offense. I think Tom Brady felt it for sure. I think a lot of people were surprised with under hitting on that one. Thirteen to three final score Last year's Super Bowl and we will also be out at the super bowl this year covering everything going on so You'RE GONNA WANNA keep tuned with us for podcast. PODCAST coming out of there but look at these guys that are younger. In places with the raiders. Like Mo- her slyke. Colton Miller like a obviously the the draft picks. But we've already talked about them in their place and I wanted to find out from you to how you would grade these players and also so when you look at it let's say mowers for example I would probably grade him like really high around like We're going with BS and CS. I would say like at least maybe a be pleasant minus This year In what he was able to do and how he performed for this team so I wanted to ask. Who'd so you think is really going to be somebody that is building this foundation with the raiders? Right now that is a young player that is going to be able to put their foothold foothold here and really be an impact player for the team in twenty twenty miles studio got well. I think the biggest thing when you're talking about guys that that are younger who have to grow up and make an impact. I I would say. Colton Miller is probably the most important cog because when you're talking talking about A young quarterback potentially and obviously we keep doing that. Your offense line is going to be one of the most important things that can get you to. Where so you WANNA be so in terms of that I think Colt Miller certainly took a step forward this year? Part of that was probably because he was healthy and he was not in his rookie year in two thousand eighteen at a knee injury that plagued him for most of the year so yes he took a step forward now were there times where he's still got. Beat yes but I think he displayed that he can be reliable. I think that you know when he's basically the only guy that played all sixteen on that offensive line. That's something you need out of. Have your left tackle because it provides that stability. Look when you're talking about protecting the quarterback's blindside when the quarterback doesn't have trust that the left tackle is GonNa GonNa shut down that edge rusher especially when you're talking about third down situations. It really really affects everything. Along the offense I mean then any and I covered jared Goff right for the first three years of his career and you saw the difference between when Greg Robinson was the left tackle or but I think they had rotter Sappho play there at one of those games late in the two thousand sixteen season and then went andrew. Whitworth comes in. And he stabilizes the position in two thousand seventeen in two thousand eighteen the one of the most explosive offenses in the league. It affects everything when you have that kind of trust upfront. So if you're talking about the raiders potentially going Out and getting a young quarterback that is one of the most important positions on the offense. You Know Trim Brown is going to be able to do. Hopefully you'd like him to stay healthy for the twenty twenty twenty season and beyond so he'll be there the whole time but if you've got those two guys your book in tackles then that bodes well and they play well net boots well for your offense going forward Vinnie. What do you have in mind as being kind of the Stud and a great player for the raiders that they build around while I I mean I i? I agree with Miles in the sense that I look at it as as units. I think that you know and to me. It always starts offense defense because of lies. I mean obviously I wore us. You need your quarterback but I really liked the direction That the raiders went with offensive line. I think it's a It's upper-echelon John. Caliber offensive line in Colton Miller can continue to make progress than it than it elevates even higher that just helps the whole world of your office and when you're talking about Derek Carr or whoever is lined up behind center next year Josh Jacobs and Gary Waller for in Hunter Renfro everything everything is enhanced. When you have a good office ally in place I believe that the raiders do? But you know when you're talking about individual players. Obviously Josh Jacobs comes to mind Offensively and I think that they do need to go go go get a wide receiver. One some dynamic force to complement what you have in Waller Hundred Renfro in Josh Jacobs has running back so if I repeat one guy that you want to say. Hey that they're going to kind of build around. It would be Josh Jacobs. I think this is what the raiders aim is and what their blueprint is is to be a a solid and as good an with as many playmakers as possible across the board. I think they can take a huge step forward this off season by by importing as many playmakers as they can and they have the votes to do that whether you're talking about the draft picks they have five of the I ninety ninety one seventy million dollars or so to spend under salary cap going to be able to bring in hopefully for them. You know four or five more a Really capable difference maker type players and so that's what I'm more focused on rather than that does not one guy I think they need more playmakers and they already have guys in place like Josh Jacobson. Max crosby declared barrels going to be a good player Gary Waller just jumps off the football field to me as as a playmaker and as an athlete I really liked Trayvon Mullen as a secondary piece his his rookie year. I thought really strong and really well. The future's really bright for him So for me and you gotTa have a bunch of guys to build around. Well let's rate some some of these quarterbacks that are coming out this year for this craft up scrap class. We saw to a declare. Decide this week earlier. But he's likely to be. I think even though despite the Rehab despite the recovery somebody that might go right away. Let's say to like Miami and we get to this combine which miles I know we're GONNA be there Covering everything happening with the NFL. Combine getting to see these guys. I don't know whether or not to be completely rehabbed enough to be able to see him out in full force and going through everything at the combine but when you look at like the Joe Boroughs of the World the Dick froms jalen hurts. It's a what do you think might be somebody. That the raiders. Look at these quarterbacks coming into the twenty twenty draft city you just his dad mentioned them to obviously and you know with his injury. concerns you'll maybe he falls to them at twelve. That would be you. They're if they're looking in the in the quarterback direction. That would be a blessing if that were to happen. I I really liked. I think that you can have himself. Nice Russell Wilson like career. He stays healthy. He brings many of the same elements that Russell brought a big arm playmaker a AH thrower accurate thrower. Pin can make plays with his legs that kind of dual threat that you that the NFL is the direction of the NFL is headed in. And I think somebody a title player that Not Jon Gruden really really covets as as a quarterback Justin Herbert from I'm from Oregon Kind of fits a little bit differently. But he's also a guy that is an athlete can make plays with his legs and obviously is our so He'd be a guy that I adding is would be high on the the raiders wishlist Jordan love from from Utah State is a really interesting player to the a great year as a year last year but then he lost all his weapons. I mean I think he lost all but one offensive. Lineman is three top wide receivers as best running back so his numbers weren't as good this year at Utah State as it was last year. But there's some extenuating circumstances. That that that you know help that a little bit and use probably trying to do a little bit too much with a lot less talent around him so as a result he might fall a little bit in the draft loud. And maybe he's there in the second round for the raiders by the guy that keeper keep an John They're going to have a shot Joe Maura whatsoever at the he goes number one overall In rightfully so. And there's always somebody out there that's GonNa kind of MM announce himself during the senior bowl or of scouting combine or as as as the. NFL team started digging into the quarterback position. I think they'll be surprised. Surprise player here or there that moves up the draft board entrusted to see who that is. But I think the raiders are going to take a look at all these guys they have to do that. they're gonNA do their did you. Bill Johnson and work as hard as possible to try to figure that out if there is a guy in this draft that they believe has has the kind of ceiling. They're looking for a if so are they willing to you know whether it's Dan Pat at twelve and hopefully falls to them or the aggressive and move up. I think that they're gonNA make those decisions. I think that they're gonNA let process lead them to that decision and if it is to be aggressive they will be aggressive. What do you think think about that assessment in DC that? There's anybody else. Maybe they've had mentioned that. You think might be a good fit while I. I just think that Jake from is somebody that I'm so intrigued. Streaked Bhai In mainly because I think a couple years ago when Georgia was really just starting to get going with Kirby smart and they put in in from over eastern who then ended up transferring to Washington. A new you saw from in the passes. He was making as a freshman in. You're like Whoa this guy. If he continues on this trajectory you know he's somebody that you might be talking about us. Number one overall pick a couple of years down the road now. Things didn't necessarily work out that way so I guess I'm really interested in is how does he quit himself in terms of all the evaluations over the course of this off season you know what is what does he look like at the combine. I'm sure he's one of those guys. That is probably GONNA ace every interview because he's one of those guys. I don't know if you guys watch that. QB One on showed that. I don't remember what network. It's they put it on Netflix. But he's one of those guys. I mean. He has been brought up and trained to be a quarterback and you saw that When he was in high school from that television show so I think between that and the fact that yeah? He's got some arm talent for sure. I don't think things worked at Georgia in terms terms of them winning games exactly the way that they would have liked in. So that's why you have someone now like a job. Borough who goes on any wins the heisman and now he is I I think the presumptive number one overall pick so but I just think it's GonNa be really interesting to see a what team is going to start liking jake from in be where he's he's GonNa fall in the draft because he's somebody that to me could be go anywhere from like mid first round to mid second round and it's all going to depend on what ORG team's GonNa value out of him so he is somebody that I think the raiders could either get maybe twelve maybe even nineteen but then what if somebody body else because this league is all about. QB right so if there's another team that is QB. Median falls in love. Then they're going to say okay. Well you know what maybe we're over. Were drafting jake from a little bit but we gotta go and we gotta get him because we think maybe with a year of seasoning in your marinating he could be our franchise got so I'm I'm just like I'm fascinated to see where he goes in particular throughout this whole thing another guy. You mentioned them on Miles Jacobson who you know from Moved Out at Georgia went on to have a really good career Washington and I think he fits a lot of what a team like..

"And get a new sign up bonus of up to fifty dollars had a a lot of siblings and the way my mom used to do things was she'd make us go sit it out for like an hour and then she come grab us and then we'd have to face to face to each other and look each other in the eye okay and then like say exactly what we were sorry for and how we were going to improve things okay so in this case like how does antonio brown go to mike. May i look him in the eye this happen i mean is there any way that this can be repaired. What do you think out him. I don't know i mean yes. Six could be repaired. I think things can always be repaired. The problem that they have it is if you let this go and if you tony brown fly and you guys have talked to other people i've talked. That's about it as well. I mean you've now just turned the team loose to do whatever they want to do. Like you. Literally can get into confrontation with your boss. <hes> scream at him. Say say whatever you want and then punt a ball and say find me for vat which by the way. I don't know how trademarks work but i'm claiming the trademark on that right now because i want to sell t-shirts. Yes this on the podcast right. Now i think qualifies as a as copywriting that but <hes> i mean if you if you do that added nothing happens then it just it's. It's a free frost everybody else so i think it does become an issue now. The other thing i heard people discussing today and i mean this. Let's say even worse example is if it is now antonio brown or mike mayock and the raiders organization chooses antonio brown. I mean that's that would be an even worse president. You could possibly choose. I i can see that possibly happening <hes> but listen. It's it's a really really difficult all spa. They put themselves in <hes> it was you know made even worse by the fact that they tried to play good cop bad cop all you know all all season long with antonio brown brown and that may i was gonna come down hard on him and gruner was gonna let him do it every wanted <hes> and that seems do not work either because now gruden today <hes> seem to finally be frustrated that his wits end with everything so <hes> they've let it get to this point and it sucks that they're in this position but they let it get here and <hes> the last thing i starting to say this at the beginning and i got of of course <hes> as i often do but <hes> you go you go into the season with antonio brown if you if you allow this to happen you allow him to play whatever whatever you do suspend them half or whatever they're going to try to do and try to repair the the situation <hes>. It's very very possible and i know that they have higher expectations but it's incredibly possible that they're one in six to start the season. In fact i think on the on the sports book odds board. I think that's the expectation right now that they're going to be one in six in their first seven games. I think they're underdogs in six of the game so <hes> if you allow them tony around the stay and don't do much. How much worse is it going to be when they're one in six. I mean that would be <hes> that would just be a recipe for absolute disaster at that point and this recipe right now is just spelling distraction and so when you look at this team. How do they regroup. Get into the right mindset to go face the denver broncos on monday because that's something that's a head. It's something and they have to do. I think adam you were talking about the numbers. It was pick him when the week started and now i believe the broncos are favored by two and a half. I want to say so wh the make adam just to follow up start. Oh sorry to cut you off because now they're owned thorough in seven then because i think that was the one game <hes> that they were looking at as possibly being a win it so. I don't think there'll be any of their first seven games. Wow all right so there's the numbers on that but yeah okay. How does this team regroup miles. What do they do to get. They're frame of mind right. How big of a distraction is this. When you're heading into the first game of the season trying to prove that you can become this winning culture when the lead the main star this team is causing all this drama well. I think part of it is they're used to practicing without antonio brown right think about all the training camp practices that the didn't have antonio brown for it and that's basically all of them so we're talking about the team drills and everything like that. It's in some ways and not quite similar but go with me here right like andrew lock right. We know that he just retired but at the same time jacoby bruce sets been the one who's been taking all of the reps as the first in quarterback since the spring now. It's not necessarily the same kind of deal with antonio brown but you know the amazon echo brown was not there for every single off season. Practice is certainly was not there for most of all the training camp practices especially when they're doing teams so they they'd been really preparing to not have antonio brown the entire time so in that way. This isn't very much traction. Antonio brown was kind of like ah bonus that you're going to add when you started game planning and then you would see wow this guy really can take us all to the next level so in that way i mean yeah. Would you rather have antonio brown absolutely but are you really up a creek without a paddle without antonio brown in terms of offensive scheme and things like that. I think there's no now again. He's still one of the best receivers in the n._f._l. So he's not gonna floyd that yeah. That's going to hurt their chances of winning but again like they. They know how to game plan without adam okay. So what are the keys to this game miles. Give me the main objective. The raiders need to accomplish to be able to put a w here in their win. Column don't get there are killed. <hes> trent brown colt miller have to be stout at the tackle positions because they have to you really really really good rushers in von miller who's on track to become hall of famer and then bradley chubb who played really well also as a rookie fortunately trent brown at right tackles the one that's going to be going up against von miller at least if we are to believe all the things that have happened in the past are going to happen in the future of von miller usually rushes over the right tackle right so that's going to be trent brown and trent brown probably as offensive lineman on xtra lease on the extra rodney hudson. I guess we give him a good run for his money with that but colton miller is going to have his hands will probably with bradley challenge wasn't colton miller struggled throughout in his rookie season especially when his knee injury continued to get worse so you hope he's healthy <hes> because that's going to be key right if they i can go out there in protect derek carr and give him the time to find open receivers who aren't named antonio brown and also can get push affront to allow josh jacobs. Have those good running lanes then. They're going to be in pretty decent shape. At least. I don't believe very much in joe. Flacco joe echoes not lied to me and i also think wacky things tend to happen in week one especially in that second monday night football game so at this point i almost would still pick the raiders to win win. Why hedge i would still pick the raiders to win. This game is going to be tough yeah. I can definitely see the uphill battle. I think you're right about joe flock. Oh i think we see a lot from clean feral coming off the edge and rushing in there but it's a matter like you said if they're offensive line the battle of wills and design plays low. I think that gunther showed us in the preseason. He has a nice little set. There is some exotic blitzes so i'm looking forward to seeing what happens is in regular season as we know preseason. It's not always what you see so adam. Witty think is a key here for the raiders to get a w. Come monday night i mean i think it's going to be the defense coming together. <hes> quicker than it's expected to. I mean they added a lot of good pieces and i think there's a lot more talent than there was. Last year. I think schematically there a ton better than they were last year and i think the defense by the end of the season could be pretty good but i i think they're key to getting awareness to to find a way to put something together. Defensively i think even with without antonio brown even with the problems on the interior of the office of mind with injuries and suspension in jacksonville cognitive <hes> of those things i i think the offense is going to be a pretty decent at least good enough to win. It's whether the defense can can find find a way to get that cohesion quickly and <hes> and put together a good performance and i think you know starting off the last season <hes> at the coliseum having having a late night monday night you know those fans are gonna be crazy and rowdy and have all day to drink before seven thirty kickoff or whatever time it starts <hes>. It's it's going to be nuts there. So so i mean i think there's a lot of factors going in the favor of the raiders <hes> if you'd kind of throw out this distraction of the antonio brown situation <hes> i think there's a lot of good things work in their direction but it's going to be on the defense to try to win this game and i think there might be some offset downs the hiccups along the way <hes> fitting all those new pieces together and you know and implementing what they wanna do defensively but <hes> i think they can do enough to get this win because <hes> look through the next six games and it's tough to find anymore he i have to i agree with you and this is going to be a very tough game so let's go ahead. We already have miles is a prediction. Is that the official prediction for you miles that the raiders will lose thir first game at home. I said they were gonna win night. High bad my bad listen you. You're you're such a hater and pay this year hi. I'm everybody's gonna pay hike in the city. I haven't shuki dole sent to me and now you're just messing up my prediction now on my bad i bad everybody's gonna pay okay so but here is to adam. Find me for that. Dot com is actually available domain so if you want to you know get it some back miles. Go ahead and add up before adam can get to it. I'm just going to play the role instigator. How about that in your the mic mac to my income though so you could put either find me with a number four or find me spell the word for that dot com either ones.

"Tom cable, which I am not a fan of never been quiet about that. I don't think he's had success, especially over the last few years or so last year. They release struggled to protect Derek Carr. And I look at the line. And yes, they've got a cold Miller, who had a lot of issues last season allowed many sacks tons of penalties. I think Brandon Parker he's either gone or probably not in the rotation more and they've got brownie outside. But on the interior gave husband, one of the better centers in the NFL. But then it's. Probably Rodney Hudson gave Jackson. The guard also was from that very good offensive line struggled a bit last year. And then they added Richie incognito, which is just bizarre for twenty thousand different reasons so podcast right there now. So while they've got so many leading skill players. You know, arguably one of the better wide receiver course, in the NFL Josh Jacobs, who adored I spent a whole POC with talking about Derek card. Why I think he was actually better at the end last season. The people give him credit for I do worry about this line. It can legitimate worry and Mia. We'll talk about the players, but I'm concerned about the coach anything else and your Seahawks fan. Everybody knows that Tom cable previously serve as the offense of coach. And there's just a threat that if you follow it, where he has been teams have generally speaking, underperformed before when he was there and then exceeded expectations when he was gone, and it's not personal. It's just a fact. Right. Maybe see offense with the main of the franchise existence. In a lot of guys are still there. Now, all of a sudden looking much more competent under Mike celery, these guys that you were talking about whether it's Jackson mother would star laceration speech to rock, but other than Rodney Hudson, basically every offense lineman last year with someone of turns out for Oakland and I I'm not trying to make this all about Tom cable, but I just don't know grammatically fundamentally they're going to be a top to your team regardless of the talented place. Now they've got to question boxer tackle, Colton. Miller. He referenced was some smoke that he would would move from the left side of the right side. He's the stay on the left side of the offense of line. He's put on thirty plus powers legitimately be player six nights. He Trent Brown was traded away for a bag of peanuts in the seventh round pick last year from the Niners to the patriots. But just wanna make sure that this is a player who's at peak condition because you're putting the right side of the offense line in the AFC west that means to Magic's year with von Miller and two more year with Joey Bosa or elven Ingram. Maybe even someplace in some. Both of them coming off with the same site. So it's a massive task for that offensive line. So talent your I think is definitely better. But I think you're concerned are legitimate. Yeah. And then on the other side of the ball, you know, obviously, the defense they absence of the pass rush was a running joke in the NFL last year. "Best route road is in the NFL where I've forgotten that emits mister big chest, but he's frigging phenomenal. Route burger would just throw it up double coverage, triple coverage. I don't care. I don't know of car will ever do that. I mean that's got to get to those. Points where I mean, almost goes back to, like playing on schoolyard, Greece's football like listen. I don't care my guys than your guy. And you've got to that mindset like I've always said, one of Ben's great traits. Was he cared enough, not to care? Like you didn't necessarily care that much what happened. He cared that much. I know that sounds silly. But like he cared that much that had that much trust and faith in the in the player. They didn't care what the result was going to be because he believed in him so much. And so, you know, I will say this, I've been around coaches that can coach fear into you. And I had a coach one time, say, this don't let anybody take your stinger away, and I really believe that's what happened to Derek Carr over the last year or two is like the coaching can sometimes just, hey, we're gonna play good defense. We're gonna kick the ball. Well, if it's not there, just check the bowl down, and you can get coached into that because sometimes there's the number support it, okay? Completion. Nations, and the balls getting out of your hands and you're keeping your offense moving forward and sometimes coaches can coach you into being a fearful player. And that's why it's so important for Derek Cardiges let it ride this year and Gruden to also like part of it was the coaching early on cars. Career was aggressive coaching. They had good players that are good run game. And they had aggressive coaching. And so that needs to continue to be a part or kind of get back to what it's part of his game, is that aggressiveness that mean you talked about, like how good of a thrower, he is. If you pair that with being aggressive, and good players good things can happen more often than not. So I'm hopeful for them, but it does come down to just that mental especially early on this season. Like that mental September, you know having some success early on and really getting that confidence. That swagger that moxie, however you want to call it back, that I am what I was in fifteen sixteen. The other thing he had that your Dan was a, a great offensive line. Right. And that's I guess, that's my one concern going into this season. So they just signed Reggie Neto today, which. Oh my God. Jesus. Right. Well, a good thing they have Tom cable to bring it all together, but they traded away assembly. That's concerning. Obviously. Colton Miller was little let down last year. And then you said you've got cable, so. I worry about whether car can do all the things we're talking about if that offensive if he's not, if he doesn't have sufficient production because he is a guy gets rid of it really quickly. But if the lion isn't solidified or if they have issues that could be a problem for him. Pretty relatively big question. Mark the Trent Brown, right because. Yeah, I mean what was he before? New England goes New England becomes a monster. Like there's some people who don't think he's going to be anything outside of New England. So but if he is what he was in New England that really helps that offensive line. So there's certainly a like a question. Mark tied. "Like I said to bring a right kind of p Glenn here we think that can build championship football team because the most loyal fans in the world and I know it hurts that we might not be the Oakland raiders forever but we are still raider nation. I think it's going to be hey everyone it's Heidi Fang here along with our readers beat writer Michael Belkin we're in person here last two working at the Oakland Raiders Headquarters Allen Mita Michael Today being the first day of otas on this Tuesday evening and looking forward to seeing the whole team finally kind of working as a unit what their chemistry looks like of course today just being the first day voted as we didn't really get a full scope of that but what was your immediate takes on looking at the him on the field while I think it's pretty obvious certain positions are going to be a lot more competitive this year and just to go offense and defense offensively at Rec- ever although Antonio Brown was on field he's been extremely active throughout this voluntary work workout program is expected to rejoin teammates in relatively short order Britain didn't specify why Antonio Brown at practice but it doesn't seem to be a particular concern but still you look at that depth chart out wide receiver Anders Antonio Brown there's Tyrone Williams there's Ryan grant there's Hunter Renfro they kind of go go down the list includes also rookie free agent Keelan dos who could make things interesting come training camp in the preseason it's a really competitive group with that competition comes the obstacle of building chemistry which it falls on every single one of those receivers also Derek Carr but when you see car lobby deep paths for Tara Williams he catches in stride for fifty five yard touchdown it certainly bodes well for the future nice little flash that came early here in not as and I would say defensively cornerback Loyd that is going to be a competitive group you know you look at Nick Nelson Guy who played a considerable amount as a rookie fourth round pick in two thousand eighteen I mean he might not make the fifty three man roster if everyone shows up as it could I mean how many corners can you keep how many DB's can you keep that's GonNa be really interesting to see and so we had Darryl Worley was rotating in I saw limited reps on Tuesday because he's coming off the shoulder surgery up Garin Conley was healthy Drafted a couple of quarterbacks lamarcus joyner looks really good as a nickel corner so on and on you go that quarterback group in particular should be much improved you talked about Derek Carr and his improvement and that Balmy through to Tyrel Williams here so my question is in this Susan can we expect not just to see Derek Carr elevate his game but to see an elevated game on offense altogether with the weapons the offensive line the addition of Trent Brown how improve do we expect this raiders offense to be it should be much improved I think a huge thing for this offense for a car is the cotton constancy in the system where he's not learning a new system it's you know Jon Gruden still here he's got the same play caller uh-huh Derek Carr had four different playcallers in his first five seasons in the NFL in so now with Gruden obviously back in going anywhere really afford Sircar chance to get comfortable and it's ironic now that Derek Carr has some constancy on offense but rare to really press the reset button on his receipt record. I mean these number one tight end right now is someone that they're really excited about during waller but it's just been such limited playing time of for Waller overall in his NFL career and with the raiders he was a November arrival when they signed him off the Baltimore Ravens practice squad so Things look pretty good on paper I think there's a high ceiling but still there's a lot of work that needs to be done in order to get this whole thing together with Oj's being the first time that players are actually in helmets this off season it's the first time that offensive and defensive players are able to go against each other in drills all of those you know chemistry those types of things and Constancio in terms of just knowing that you're throwing the past the runway routes and just kind of reading between the lines some of those agencies that come into being football players and being teammates all that is now starting underway and again you are listening to the Vegas Nation podcast with Michael Can Heidi Fan you can find us online at review journal Dot com slash podcast and anywhere you find your podcast subscribe drops align let us know what you think about this show and how we're doing and I'm very excited about this particular episode not just because we're her in person together finally getting to talk just face to face but also because we will be joined by Doug Martin who's had interesting offseason an interesting day it taking all the first team reps with Derek Carr after Josh Jacobs Kinda exited the field what happened there so we don't really know exactly what the relation is involving Josh Jacobs but he was on the field stretching and it be it for whatever reason the he win doors following the stretch periods so that left in the speaking of competition the raiders running back group is going to be pretty interesting I talked to Doug Martin a little bit about that but he spoke about just the opportunity that he had on Tuesday which is emblematic of the opportunity that he had last season where marshawn lynch suffers a seasoning growing injury in October and Doug Martin carry the load thereafter and for someone who many people discarded as kind of being done as an NFL player Doug Martin show that he's still got a lot in the tank average more than four yards per carry on season he had more than a hundred Russia one hundred or more yards or the final two games of the season and so on Tuesday it was next man up and Doug Martin who's pretty good in the passing game show that again on Tuesday he answered the call and he's kind of a Ninja it gets to the goal line like he can get into little rockets and holes that I don't think a lot of people see him coming there you're expecting like a power back to kind of take that role on but Doug Martin he's finds his way in in and he he can really leap to I remember a couple times last year where he leapt over the pile and I was really impressed so Doug Martin we will have him here a bit later on the show but where do you you think the most interesting you mentioned the competition at running back where do you think the most interesting competition will be for this team I think cornerback really interesting The backup quarterback quarterback as well you know who's GonNa be the number two Mike Lennon saw some work there but Nathan Peterman figures to figure commonly that as well we'll see what sort of competition lend you Jones toward pushy can make I wide receivers can be really interesting you really throughout this roster the way it should be ideally in May that should be difficult question to answer because there are so many spots that pop up in defensive line Eddie van or dose who is he in the NFL you know he had a rookie season or played a lot of snaps and then the two thousand seven nineteen third round pick in the very last quarter of the final game of the season terraces acl worst possible time because how the eats into your offseason and into your ensuing season suffered a setback in training camp and missed the entirety of two thousand eighteen because of it you know how did he figure into the this defensive line rotation or on the depth chart can you make this fifty three man roster at all you know if he's a very confident in the readers confident in what he can do but we're going to see a lot terms of that left guard who's going to be the man there the competition for Denzel good might not currently be in the building a raiders figured assign someone there Frenchie incognito visited this month so I go on and on about the competition on his roster but it should be should be really good throughout in we even got a competition he said he's willing to play anywhere on that line right now I think he's still at left tackle so he did say that he'd be willing to shift around but I would like to see him in a role the would kind of behoove him not just for his experience and what he can do but for the offensive line as a whole so Trent Brown Colton Miller Gabe Jackson You mentioned Denzil good and of course.

"We get going here with some forty Niners free agency news. So yes Quant. Alexander was talked about yesterday linebacker signed by the Niners. Now the reviews are coming in. So Quantel exander get signed to a four year fifty four million dollar deal. Seems like the reports are saying twenty seven million guaranteed. That's the number by the way that anyone should care about. It's the guaranteed money. Yes. In baseball when someone makes those certain amount of money or given a deal. That's all guaranteed in football. That's not how it is. So practically speaking this could be considered a two year twenty seven million dollar contract. And if he were to perform and play like the the Niners want then you just assume that they would pick up the third and fourth year. But one thing about quantum Alexander is his ability to stay on the field or inability oft injured. Year-by-year his games played his first year, twelve games. So missed four next year sixteen that was by far is best year at least statistically, just staying on the field twelve games after that. And then last season six games as he's tore his ACL on October twenty first Quantel Zander is younger than Reuben foster. I know that's crazy. He's been in the league a little bit, but quite Alexandra's younger than him. He has playmaking ability. But he also has the ability to miss some tackles. Now, Charles Davis, a FOX he got talking yesterday to Tolbert and Lund. Check out what he had to say about these mistake holes. I'd have to see it. But everyone has to take this into account pamphlets on defense a lot. They gave up a lot of points a lot of plays and the offense while scoring a lot was often quick strike defense played even more. So I don't know what the percentage is. But also made a ton of tackle still members rookie year. He ended up sliding in the draft you field stuff and it wasn't one week in camp. I think I've visited Tampa and ran into the general manager, and he said this gift Mel issue is unbelievable people San Francisco will white Kwan Alexander with how the game is played. Now, it's going to be faster that sort of a deal, but still will make a ton of place to I believe the reviews coming in about quantum Alexander coming to the Niners. Everyone's looking at the money. They're looking at a guy who tore his ACL has problems with missed tackles has problems staying on the field. And then they give that much money. The ACL map EROs went on to. Tolbert and Lund show, that's map barrows from the athletic. And he talked about the ACL. Listen, nobody wants to hear that. Because it bums you out so much, but I'm a little puzzled why a team that had such a long history of ACL injuries and made getting healthy sort of their off-season goal goes in there. First free agent that they signed a guy coming off an ACL in one that happened midseason. So I I'm not exactly sure what his recovery period. Is. You never wanna rush. Those guys back in you know, linebacker sort of the defensive equivalent of running back. You know, that's that's a lot sharp. Putting a lot of torque a lot of pressure on that joint. Again. I'm not sure when he's coming back. I can't expect that he would be full go full bore as as good as he's ever been whatever the first day of the season is so that tends to temper ones enthusiasm when it comes to pregnancy. Niners fans in general are just a little dismayed when the here in ACL. And then bring in a guy back and hoping to rehab him like Trent balcony all over again who only wanted to draft players with tornadoes yells. He just he actually I just assumed apparently that I think if you have a tornado Seattle, you're just going to be a stud. I don't know by quantum Alexander is going to be a forty Niner. And if healthy I'll put it this way, Kevin Siefert of ESPN going into free agency ranked Cuanto Zander as the number seven free agent available out of one hundred. So he obviously sees the potential on him. You put him next to Fred Warner. Maybe he becomes and finally gets a potential he needs to get to. Yes. The bucks. Played a lot of defense last year. Catch him on the field a lot. But let's be honest. So did the Niners the Niners weren't exactly a great defensive team last year too. So he has some big shoes to fill and Reuben foster or going back all the way to Navarro Bowman and Patrick Willis. So we'll see how Quantel Alexander and Fred Warner do together. But yes, it's a lot of money to a guy. That they just don't know yet. How was going to rehab from his cell. But that is something to be seen. Now. Let's go around the NFL just a little bit. So the Niners seemed to pass rusher. Right. Well off the board. Now trae flowers from the patriots goes to Detroit, and these are big numbers for money the contracts given out right now, this is the beginning of free agency. You would expect big numbers to be to be dealt. But this is why someone like one Alexsandr made so much money Trey flowers sounds like a five year deal around sixteen to seventeen million per year. Dante Fowler, valor and other pass rusher. Went back to the Rams, but then you look at linebacker CJ Moseley this morning is being reported that he's going to be signed to a five year eighty five million dollar contract with the jets. Yeah. Eighty five million dollars. You wonder if the Niners checked in on him, and they're like, ooh, na. I'm good same with Anthony Barr. Who's going to be making a lot of money for? The jets as well. Use a pass rusher. So those are some guys at the Niners could have been interested in but they're getting big dollars in the Niners aren't getting them. Obviously safeties that is somebody that this the Niners need a safety. They need some help in the back end Kansas City shelled out a lot of money for Tyron Matthew, Honey, badger, three years, forty two million dollars. But how this one the Washington Redskins? Got Landon Collins for a six year eighty four million dollar contract. Forty five million guaranteed for Collins that is a lot of money. And these are names that were connected to the Niners at one point. And I can see why the Niners avoided giving these guys this much money. But let's go and look at the raiders here for a second. The raiders are just doling out money. And that's good to see you. See you wanna see a team that's really trying to compete, especially when they're on the final years in Oakland. But they gave forty a former forty nine or Trent Brown a record deal. Yes. Get this a four year sixty six million dollar deal with thirty seven million dollars guaranteed s an annual salary of sixteen point five million dollars. That's the highest for any NFL offensive linemen. And that's coming from a team that drafted Colton Miller in the first round last season to play left tackle for them. So does that mean Trump round is being paid that much to play right tackle, you'd have to assume? So because it'd be really weird if they just all of a sudden switch it up and put Trent Brown at the left side. But that's the money. He's making that's left tackle tight money. But the caveat being playing in the AFC west you have people like von Miller rushing the passer coming off that right side. So therefore, maybe Trent Brown over there helps they're ready traded Colette Yosemite to the jets. So they're going to be left with Gabe Jackson, Rodney Hudson. Colton Miller Trent Brown that's a good for also. They can go Denzel good. They have some people that they can add to that line. But overall doing a good job re restructuring that offensive line. Just a lot of money. That's a ton of money. And then finally you look at lamarcus Joyner safety good safety signing for a four year deal with Oakland. That helps them a lot. You can put him. Carl joseph. It's very small group of safeties in the backfield. But yeah, those two together should be pretty good, Dave. Yeah. It's not much of a rebuild though. It sounds like a reload. These are not twenty two year old guys are getting out there. These guys are pushing. I mean, Nate Tonio Brown's thirty one these guys are young kids and the Trent Brown one really scares me. Because I the patriots had to do all they could do to get him to be that. He just doesn't want to watch film. He's not going to be wholly motivated. He's got his Super Bowl ring and a whole lot of money. That's doesn't bode. Well. Randy moss. Did the same thing. That's a tough combo. Yeah. Randy moss when to Oakland and did that exactly. And then had to leave Oakland to be good again. So we'll see how that pans out. But you're right. It doesn't look like a rebuild when you're making these moves and spending that type of money, but at the same time, I it's exciting for raiders fan at school. If you if they're gonna go to the Vegas soon might as well get them some time in Oakland with a team that's a little bit more exciting. And finally, just a few more names. Frank gore. Former forty Niner two. Buffalo on a two million dollar deal to Sean Jackson Calbert traded back to Philly where he had some big years before chip Kelly came in and just traded away. Nick foles to Jacksonville. They're going to be spending some real money trying to finally get a quarterback over there. That's not Blake Bortles and Carlos Hyde forty Niner. Former forty Niner is going to Kansas City who has a hole in their backfield with Kareem hunt out. So finally, let's check in. Let's have Matt barrows of the athletic. Explain to us what's next for the forty Niners. Looking at cornerback. They wanna add a short of a second day. You know, they're they're not gonna set the market at that position. But somebody that's going to push a killer Witherspoon in various more during practices this spring and summer. So there's that. And then I think the other big one is going to be edge rusher. I I think that's the other position where they're going to spend a healthy bit of money, and they're still a number of guys left on the market in Houston available. They're talking about. A possible trade would deep Ford Ezekiel Ansah a guy that I like Shaq Barrett who played behind von Miller when he did get into games he was affected and he's twenty six so right in the sort of meaty part of the the curve for the forty Niners there. There are a lot of moves to be made in the Niners are going to be active. Definitely keep keep looking at Twitter today. Keep listening to can be are because you're going to be hearing some deals. I'm sure of it. The rest of the day coming up. We're gonna talk about some giants. Let's talk about some sharks here as well. All that on the leadoff spot. I'm grant Lifton on knbr six eighty the sports leader. NBR's San Francisco. A Cumulus station. I remember that night talking with my friend Stacy she was really down hopeless feeling like she had no future. I could hear and feel her pain because I remembered it happening to me..

"Cook a lot with D Ford with Justin Houston, they dance horns on him. They put kindle fuller on him someplace they really did a good job of taking him away. And so that takes away Derek Carr security blanket. And then after that, they just kind of kept everything in front of him. You know made Derek Carr throw short all game long. He got the ball out in one point eight four seconds on average this week. That's ludicrously fast that they weren't going to get home with the pass rush as it was because Derek Carr just throwing it immediately after. He touches it. So you just had these guys that were playing off playing downhill, and, you know, making these passes go for two and three yard gains and setting them up into third and longs. Derek Carr has to hold the ball longer, and you can get stop. So I just think that the overall game plan was better. And then on top of that they had a little more energy to head a little more fire Jordan, Lucas, he's just really it changed the dynamic of everything. Everybody seemed like they wanted to be there. They wanted to play. They wanted to put it on the raiders. And the game plan was good for them to be able to do that car. Getting the ball out in one point eight four seconds. That's how many seconds per yard. Reggie Ragland was covering on that tough time. Turn. I think right. Hey, let's not everybody wants to make fun of Reggie because he got caught by Colton Miller, who's a very athletic offensive tackle. But my goodness. What a re by Reggie on that play a fantastic job. Robin that route underneath and taking that ball away. Great job. I Reggie nobody would have expected that Reggie Ragland was going to walk out with an interception and not just an interception of big long return after one to else fun. It was really fun. And it was kind of like almost like watching like a walk on on the end of the bench of a basketball game score three pointer like it was just like a little bit a little bit where the year he's had. He hadn't been particularly good. So it's over him to play that way for Higgins Defla will as well. And then this inconceivable pass that Derek Carr through to Jared cook who wasn't looking when Dan Sorenson was just standing there that that was fantastic as well. They just had everything kinda go right this week. And and it doesn't necessarily mean anything for the future, but they needed a confidence builder. They needed a game. Like this to kind of feel like they were putting some things together. So that they can work on other things and tried, you know, just. Better. Overall, get yourself in the right head space. Reggie ruined. My fat guy touchdown tweet that I had cooked up. So I'm still able to write that entire tweet while he was returning the ball. I had I was just about to press. Like he was on the twenty. I was waiting and then he got he got hawks. But. Kit with him. All right. We're going. Let's let's jump in and dual mailbag hear about that. The whole squads back together. We'll jump into the mail bag here in a second.
