"Payments and not enough money is given to small businesses and in particular restaurants whose owners have suffered so grievously. They were only given a deduction for others to use and business their restaurant for two years. This two year period must be withdrawn which will allow the owners to obtain financing and get their restaurants back in condition. Congress can terminated at a much later date but two years is not acceptable. It's done enough. Congress found plenty of money for foreign countries lobbyists and special interests while sending the bare minimum to the american people who needed. It wasn't their fault. It was china's fault. Not their fault. I am asking congress to amend this bill increase the ridiculously low six hundred dollars two thousand dollars or four thousand dollars for a couple. I'm also asking congress to immediately get rid of the wasteful and unnecessary items from this legislation and to send me a suitable bill or else the next administration will have to deliver a covert relief package and maybe that administration will be made. We'll get it done. Oregon saw on a bunch of that administration will be me just me. I think the end. The senate i am the administration. We're going to talk to heather about this. Because i'm not convinced that these the that those two concepts of the two thousand dollars and the next administration will be me are distinct. Ever one thing you should also note as you take that in and we will talk about the implications of this with with with heather it because this is a huge gift to the democrats and to a large extent. They have already begun the process of accepting the gift. There's more that they have to do. But you'll note that the one thing he was talking about. Who was that business deduction. He didn't say who the deduction was four. But if you go into a restaurant one of the things they put into. The operating budget was A business deduction for lunches for businesses. That had been taken away in the past martini lunch deduction it's called derisively appropriately. So and he thinks the two years is not going to be enough. He apparently expects to be eating a lot of lunches going that he's gonna have to pay for and would like to have those deducted man so again. Worst case scenario were were getting that other bell but two thousand dollar checks. That might be a possibility right possibility. There are huge both policy implications for for americans out there. Two thousand dollars is obviously when three times six hundred dollars but also in terms of the politics of this. Nancy pelosi in particular has an incredible opportunity that To bring up a standalone bill and force over one hundred fifty republicans to vote against donald trump in the house and to force mitch mcconnell to vote against this or not bring up the bill and have him pay the price in georgia. We're gonna take a quick break when we come back we'll be talking part about this We are back joining us via zoom. Is heather pardon or digby from the blog hullaballoo and a writer at salon dot com. Heather how are you. Thanks for joining us my pleasure. I'm doing great. How are you doing doing well now. Heather we you know we we touch base yesterday about what we talking about. Today and we presumed it would be a look back on the year and look forward. Because much of the the major i guess legislation of this year had been sort of finished and donald trump stepped into the fray and blew everything up and apparently surprised a lot of his own advisers. Apparently he's really mad at mitch. Mcconnell i mean he is at mitch mcconnell because that's in my view that's what this is really all about. I mean i think trump could have been he. He has wanted to give a bunch of money. Away is part of some kind of a relief slash stimulus from the beginning. But he never bothered to participate. In any way i mean. He's been so obsessed with his own reelection and with this ridiculous post-election you know dispute and all of that that he didn't bother to really involve himself in that and he could have and had he pressed it and they had to do as unleashes mogok all right and to call up every all of their senators and say we demand this two thousand dollars followed trump. Do what he says and it probably probably could have gotten them to do. It just didn't bother. But i don't i don't think he cares even now i don't know he says that but i don't think he cares but the reason that is so upset is because mitch. Mcconnell has told the senators first of all. He acknowledged the biden election because he accepted reality and he also told his senators not to participate in this little pageant. They're planning for for january six where they want to object to the electoral to the to the certification of the electoral college. Vote and he wants. He wants the senators to object to it and vote against it and you know this is a ridiculous thing i mean. It's not gonna happen. But because he heard and this was reported that mitch mcconnell told the his people. Please don't vote for this because it means and this was the reasoning. It means that you'll have to vote against donald trump. Because you know we're not going to actually do this so that's putting our guys in a terrible position where there's going to be a vote against donald trump is going to hurt us in two thousand twenty two. That was mitch mcconnell's convoluted rationale for not wanting to do this. And trump is mad at him for that and he actually went after john. Thune the deputy the other majority leader. The deputy majority who said from south dakota who said look. You know it's not gonna happen. So why put everybody through this. And so trump went after mcconnell on monday night. He sent around a graph showing somehow or another. Mcconnell house reelection was due to donald trump's tweets and endorsements call that he did and then last night he put you know he sent out a tweet. That said you know. Mcconnell blew it. And the john thune is a rhino. And he's gonna primary in twenty twenty two and so he is mad and what that did is. It's exactly as you say. It's a tremendous gift in ansi policy in to colossians schumer's credit instead dilly dallying as they usually do or following the amy klobuchar shar the other sort of centrist types. I've noticed in pundit you know in the punditocracy going on and we really can't this is the process. And we made a deal and blah blah blah plus. Schumer came out immediately asking. Afc and a bunch of others and said yeah. were there. good we're following. Don't follow the leader. Do this thing..

"From the privileges of American citizenship that they have a right to so. Let's talk about the response from the press us from Democrats. To what trump did you know in in your piece you had criticism for. Both let's take each you mentioned this weekend that you agreed with crooked editor in chief Brian Butler that it's the job of reporters to bear witness faithfully what does that. What does that look like to you? I mean maybe it means telling the truth about what's happening. Even when power is trying to convince you otherwise you know something that there was a dispute towards the end of the Bush administration over whether to call waterboarding torture torture because that was essentially not about whether or not waterboarding was actually torture it was about the fact that the Bush administration was contesting the definition of waterboarding torture because they didn't want to admit that they were torturing people now with the racist chant U._C.. Something similar like go back is Literally Textbook Racism. It's referred to by the equal opportunity. Employment Commission is like a textbook version of racism so to say well. We don't know if this is racist or call to caught racially charged or racially tinged is as to concede to power <hes> disability to create controversy around facts when there actually is no controversy <hes> so when I'm echoing Brian's <hes> admonition to to bear witness faithfully what I'm referring to is not concede need to power the ability to create controversy where none should exist and then on the Democrats you know everyone should read the piece but I do WanNa read one passage because I think it was particularly devastating Democrats now hold the house and they are. I'm not holding trump back. The president has a better to attack in American democracy. He has obstructed justice. He has vowed to turn federal law enforcement on his political enemies. There are squalid camps at the border where families are being separated and children are being sexually assaulted their existence justified as a necessary response to a foreign. Earn invasion trump has sought to rig American democracy in favor of white voters and refuse to recognize the oversight authority of Congress and now a sales the cornerstone principle of multiracial democracy that none of us is more American than any other. If the Democrats convince themselves that anything they do to attack the president risk alienating white voters who believe the country belongs only to them and they will be partially responsible for the path that country is taking what in your mind would democratic leadership that meets this moment. What actions would that entail <hes> I I think it would entail more rigorously fighting the administration in terms of calling witnesses and turning in terms of subpoenaing documents in terms of pursuing investigations but it would also entail a more rigorous defense of the principles of multiracial racial democracy against the president? I believe <hes> Pelosi's response after the all these tweets was <hes> united said what I'm going to say. I'm not gonNA say anything else. I mean that is the Marco Rubio approach to presidential <unk> tweets. It's insufficient in the United States is facing someone who simply does not believe in the principles of multiracial democracy that have guided this country since nineteen sixty five that is an existential threat to those of US whose Americanise might reasonably be questioned under a regime that states that only white Christians are real Americans. I in the Democratic Party cannot exist without those constituents and should be doing much more forceful job of defending them so it seems you know when you pull back from specific moments specific moments to offer rebuke to to speak more forcefully against the president seems that there is a kind of feeling that Democrats in Congress are not fulfilling the mission that voters sent them on in twenty eighteen <hes> that seems to be informing a lot of the internal democratic fights between the squad as we now call them and the leadership <hes> that seems to be informing a lot of the criticism of the way <hes> leaders leaders like Colossians Schumer and people like Jerry Nadler have responded to trump's you laughing at the face of efforts to hold him accountable. Do you believe that there is pressure that can be brought to bear that could get Democrats in the house kind of to step up to this fight in a bigger way to kind of to kind of rise to this moment..

"News. I'm Jack Callaghan. This is Fox News. I'm a veteran. We hit a mine, and Vietnam, I came home. I didn't know where to turn as America's veterans face challenges. DAV is there I think he's never given the poll. Always there to remind me we have a life to live DAV provides a lifetime of support helping veterans of every generation get the benefits they've earned. I am a veteran. But after I get out I spent two years along in homeless every year DAV helps more than a million veterans. So they can reach victories. Great and small was finding support to get back on my feet. Now, I'm getting things right with my family had finally admitted, but my PTSD I wasn't doing well, but there's more to be done and more victories to be won. Now. I wish I'd found sooner. My victory is just enjoying each day. Help support more victories for veterans go to DAV dot org. The government is closed because of President Trump. If it continues to be closed on the twenty nine I think it's a good idea to delay until government is opening. All right. So that Senator Chuck humor talking about the latest on the shutdown, and of course, state of the union coming up boy interesting times, but we say that each and every show I feel K Delaney's America tonight joining us at the top and our virtual green room Ellen Ratner from tuck media news Ellen. So what's the scoop on state of the union and the shutdown? Well, now the question about state of the union is whether it can go on the president originally, they said it was security issues. But then the president said that that was not a worry. So we really don't know what's gonna go on and whether he's even going to give his state of the union address from the Oval Office, which of course, he could do and he could even give it in writing. Which is what the former presidents did before they had the. The internet or television or radio or anything else? Like that. Yeah. Wow. Crazy. And then you have this tug of war. Of course, Nancy Pelosi Chuck Schumer, they seem to be the face of the other side. But there are many more people than that talk about the shutdown for the Democrats, but those are the highest ranking in the most visible there's no love loss right between the three of them. Meaning, and what's really interesting is the president had people over for lunch. The other day today yesterday, and he invited some Democrats, but he did not invite Nancy at Chuck. And so all the other Democrats said, no. And they were moderate democrat people who could have probably been convinced, but they said, no because they didn't invite Colossians Schumer. Yeah. So now, we've got all these unpaid TSA screeners and eight hundred thousand people not getting chatting. Yeah. Yeah. So when you and you're not getting paid at all. But they're expected to show up for work. Yeah. I have a friend too in that same situation. So here's the thing. My theory is and I float it right in the beginning. And I'm sure other people are saying this will you look at TSA if you had more TSA folks walking out how could we possibly operate? If we just shut down aviation, wouldn't they have to do something. Well, yes in particular because apparently there was a gun on a plane the other day. The fact is is that the problem is also that these people are trying to law enforcement, and there are many corporations that are dying to hire these people. You know, I have a former friend friend who I met at the White House. This is secret service agent. He got a job after he left the secret service the speed of light because they want trained people and these TEFA people and the ice people. They're all trained law enforcement people. They understand. And so they can get jobs, and the fact is that the private sector will hire these people. And then what are we going to do? Yeah. Boy, no kidding. And there's a ton of other things obviously to talk about two as well. Including the fact that now more Democrats are coming out and declaring deciding to run exploratory committees and stuff gillibrand everybody and their brother is running and sister is running for president of the United States democrat. I've never seen so many people that clear in my entire life. Yeah. Is this is a good thing or bad things for the Dem's? Well, it's hard to know. I don't think it can be a very good thing. Because frankly, if you have okay five people ten people, but if you have twenty or thirty people how are you even going to be able to discern what people's programs are like who you really like? I mean, it's just crazy. It it. It is just craziness. By the way, said that she was going to be there for the people of New York for the next six years when she was reelected. Well, okay. How about it? Now. She's now running for president, even though she said she was going to be there for the people of New York. Yeah. And I guess not. I this is big news to how about the Pentagon looking to expand the scope and the sophistication of the US missile defenses. What does that mean? Well, what it means is that we know that China and Russia and North Korea as well as Iran have now expanded what they're doing, but their missiles major kind of way, and therefore United States is going to have to try and keep up, and they're developing all different kinds of missiles. And of course, once they get them. They can say, hey, wait. We've got them. We can we can wipe out part of your population. So you better pay attention. So you know, what we know from our friend. Bob bay is that they were you rich enriching uranium in underground in Taran. And so, you know, how are we ever gonna keep something like that? Yeah. No kidding. And then Theresa May the British Prime minister. Wow. Narrowly surviving a no-confidence vote. But there's still a lot of work to be done there. Well, there's a lot of work to be done.

"Is the media breaking news editor for the daily caller. What am I favor? It follows on social media, amber. How the heck are you? I'm doing great. Thanks for having me on guys. Oh, you got it. Now, it's a pretty busy day today. So I have let's start with Sarah Sanders going on Fox News earlier today. And I gotta be honest, amber, a kind of feels like Sarah was laying the groundwork for backing away from the wall demands. Did you get that feeling as well? Not exactly what it sounded like to me. And the if you're a Trump supporter, you know, doubt have to be disappointed that they're not willing to hate this border wall fight to shutdown the bath majority of Trump faith with the port and fighting back with the shutdown. But instead it sounds like the White House going to cave. Perhaps encouraged congress to pass some kind of stopgap funding or even a full funding Bill that doesn't include that five billion border while funding that Trump said last week in meeting with Colossians Schumer that he was willing to shut down the government over if this isn't a cave. I don't know. What is and what Sarah said earlier today was well, we might find other ways to pay for the wall. Like, I'll be honest. I may Trump supporter I've been waiting two years for the wall. And that to me sounds like you're losing all the leverage you have the presidency. You had Chuck Schumer of palm of your hand the other day in that press conference, and you're dropping all the leverage. This is the last chance that they have to fund a border wall for a lead two years and not provided. They're able to take back control the house in twenty twenty and provided that Trump wins reelection the having both health and the Senate at walls, the presidency really the only chance that Republicans because we know. That's a nonstarter for democrat. First Republicans gave up half of the time. They had left in the lane dot congress on because of happening, George H W Bush, obviously make sense by without remaining time, you would hope that they would focus on real Republican priorities. And instead, they're focusing on a criminal Justice Bill that already had bipartisan support and said of making sure that he gets through that they won't be able to with a gun control. How he what about the moderates? I consider myself a moderate, I don't like to see gridlock in Washington. I don't I I like to see people working together. I understand that. Sometimes you've got to give some to get some and Donald Trump is a dealmaker. This is a man that makes deals for a living. Is there any side of that argument? There is some side to that argument. I think the problem is that when it comes to the wall. The Democrats have already shown in the past that they're not really willing to compromise outback today had last year during the humor shot down some kind of. Negotiated deal where they would get a small amount her border fund or walls are not border wall. But border security in exchange for a deal on Dhaka and the dreamers, but arbitrary Trump back out of that deal, and it also wasn't four to actually build a border wall. Trump was hoping for so when you move into an even more difficult, political terrain were Democrats, actually control the house. It's really hard to be any way that even a portion of the wall gets Bill over the next two years. Amber, av of the daily caller is our guest here on the hammer in Nigel show Ambra. The other big headline today is the sentencing for Michael Flynn has now been delayed until March from what we're gathering it. So he can continue to cooperate with the investigation of Robert Muller. We also had a judge today that wanted to make himself a star and start lecturing people. What are you take away from the whole Michael Flynn situation today? There's a lot of pieces to this. I think odd. Obviously the way that the judge plan to Michael today indicates that he might give him a top sentence. Come the delayed sentencing. But at the same time, the judge has also been critical of Robert Muller's investigation. And remember demanded those documents that showed the way that they interrogated Michael Flynn, and whether or not his lied to investigators was basically under appropriate circumstances where it would be worth giving him a sent in. So there's two sides of that coin. The judge also indicated that he wasn't happy with a plea deal that general portraying get out of sentencing for this a similar charge. So it'll be interesting to see what happens I wouldn't say one way or the other what exactly he's to do in this case mixed signals. Number eighty with us here on the hammer and Nigel show, amber, I mentioned earlier one of my favorite follows on Twitter because you go after the media the way I think a lot of us would I think we both are in agreement here that defining over Beethoven aerobic has kind of gotten a little bit out of hand here. There was an ABC report reporter that followed him around during the campaign and Texas before he ultimately lost. But they were calling him a rockstar and this reporter for ABC, basically did everything but massages thighs during this report Dato get this rockstar treatment, amber. Honestly, I'm not totally sure I think people have compared his level of Chris. And also the fact that he kinda young up and coming guy to the way that rock Obama was when he first ran for president. So I think the the media and the Democratic Party are kind of pushing him into a potential twenty twenty run. He's polling really wild jets behind Joe Biden among progressive polling jet behind Bernie Sanders, and Joe Biden, so obviously there's room for that. If he does decide to run in the media would really love to see that happen. And I wouldn't be shocked if we get more fawning over him over the next couple of months as Democrats started making their alternate decisions to whether or not they're going to run less than before. We let you go. Here you've been kind of following this migrant crisis story, the death of the seven year old and how.

Former deputy undersecretary of defense for Bush, forty one and Kita Cullum who is talk show host and you can find her work at the hard question on Facebook. Before we go to the next topic. Let's check in with Sharon in crane, Missouri. And Sharon, Hello. Hi. Hi there. You're on the air. Sharon, I hope. Yes. You are going, okay. You were talking about President Trump's base. Missouri. And we get a we have been getting an influx of people from California. And they are. Because I'm in the public helping a friend. I talked to a lot of these people. And there is not a one that I have talked to that is not a Trump supporter. I mean, we tend to circulate among people who agree with the Sharon. Well, this is. Yeah. You're moving out of that our taxes are high poverty is increasing wants are moving out are the very kind of people who would tend to agree with you. Well, not only that. But there's an awful lot of there's an awful lot of California liberals or a lighting around Denver and boulder. Influx of California. Liberal into Colorado is really stocking is very low. That make one point. Okay. The biggest thing that the president campaigned on debt meant a lot to his base with immigration, and let me tell you the other day when he brought Schumer and Pelosi to the White House and the press and stood up there and acted like a pit bull and made Nancy Pelosi look. I was sitting in. I was saying. Get him. Laughing so hard. I couldn't hardly hope. I hope that hard enough that they give you two or three votes. Sharon, because I'm sure it bleeds his base. I'm not sure that it pleased everyone I thought it was it did point out the Apocrypha of the other side. But but still I'm not sure again, Donald Trump if Donald Trump plays to his base and nothing, but his base he loses like, Barry Goldwater. Space. I think that what what Colossians Schumer wanted to do shut the press down here there. They they try to pretend that they are the big group. The first amendment. They wanted those people out there and Trump to his credit. No, keep them here. A lot of let them go. Yeah. Because. Go ahead. Jed before we move onto another topic with the I just like to ask Sharon a quick question. Okay. Do you think the president should shut down the government over building the wall? Oh, you betcha. Shut down because everybody that has a brain in their head. And there are a few people out here. No that the government is funded that it is only going to shut down things that are nonessential, basically. Okay. Exactly here anymore. Well, no, you are. But again, Sharon, you do not speak for everybody in this country. Nor do I do our panel tonight. We've got to keep in mind. Guys. Don't but come on. Okay. Does. All right. If the time that we have left here, we we've got just about four minutes to cover the Russia probe. All right. What has what has come out of the southern district of New York US attorney's office regarding the payment that Donald Trump made through Michael Cohen to women is that as Andrew diplo. Latino of Fox News says jed babble is that a felony slam dunk, not even close with all due respect to Andy east. He's got an opinion. But there's a lot of different ways to look at that law if not a felony slam dunk, it may not even be a crime. There's a lot of ways to interpret that I go with Alan Dershowitz who saying today that there's no crime in that, even if Trump knew that the payments were being made to these ya'll's. So I just don't think that there's any question about that. So the real question here is what else is coming out. I don't think there's much I think Russia probe is gonna fall on its face. But it's gonna take another several months before it does lucky. I would like to see those members of the house the Senate who've been paying off their mistresses or people that they have to say the biblical stance on taxpayer fun. I wanna know who's officers involved the name. And how much we the taxpayers had to pay. Spice on that. Why why would would congress ever want to go do this? Now here we're not talking about personal money as we are in the case of Donald Trump. We're talking about tax payer money. Why would congress to go anywhere near that? Missing. Something. There era Ghent, and they think they can't be touched. But this one we have to hold them accountable. Well, well, we should and we could and there's even a Bill right now to prevent them from paying any of that with taxpayer money anymore. You can bet that won't pass. That's remarkable in terms of. The whole notion of of the white Michael Flynn, Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort had been treated. Is that a sign that the tire special counsel law is subject to abuse of needs to be changed or even abolished? All don't don't forget. There is no special counsel law anymore. This was done appointment of a special counsel within the Justice Department's framework. So there is no law that it's functioning on. But if you look at what's happened to Flynn was trapped he was never guilty. You've never lied to anybody about anything. And if you look at the way Manafort has been treated, I think manafort's sleaze he's probably broken the law six ways from Sunday. But you don't treat him like a violent drug offender and raid his house at six o'clock in the morning when he and his wife are still in bed. Being persecuted even us, please. You're right about that. Because what do you like don't like him, for example, a guy like Flint, you know, how many six money they spent six figures more than that on and to be able to defend themselves. They're older. They're good name. What like eight figures the thirty million? Yes. Your children are being threatened and anyone who serves the president right now or perceived to to serve the president. They they have their home. I mean, my God people are hiding Tucker. Carlson's wife, Heidi the kitchen. Disgraceful. All right. Prosecuted. How long time we have left. How how long before Muller issues his final report? Six months. Oh, wow. Really blanquita. I say sooner than that. I say three months, but that's still an awful locked up his file simply get handed over to Jerry Nadler, the incoming chair of the House Judiciary committee. Oh, yeah. You'll be Nadler will know before anybody else does fair enough better. Make sure that they're on lives. You're an on. Because a lot of stuff comes out. You know, what a dirty county? Although sometimes people get their come up. And so just think back to the days when Dan Rostenkowski tried to post bail and postage stamps. One eight six six five O jimbo's our number and back with more with our urine review with the jed. And blanquita. We'll be back in just a moment. He calls.
